- 0:26Speaker 1: Welcome to book watchers, where.
- 0:30Speaker 2: You're gonna watch he beat Jacob's ass, or you get.
- 0:34Speaker 1: To watch the sun gleam off of Devin's forehead.
- 0:40Speaker 2: Wait, where's the forehead begin to head end and the
- 0:42Speaker 2: head start?
- 0:45Speaker 1: You know, I don't know, but it grows bigger the
- 0:47Speaker 1: further back your hairline goes. You. Hey, you know you
- 1:01Speaker 1: look better? Ball?
- 1:03Speaker 2: How dare you? Why are you gonna goo there? I'll
- 1:12Speaker 2: remember that when you're losing your hair. I am gonna
- 1:22Speaker 2: punch you in the face tomorrow. You wait, you wait,
- 1:26Speaker 2: you wait, you wait. I'm gonna punch you in either
- 1:30Speaker 2: the cheek or the nose or a something something. You wait,
- 1:35Speaker 2: you wait, you wait. Okay, I got you, Okay, on site,
- 1:41Speaker 2: on site.
- 1:41Speaker 1: I'm just worrying now. Shelley's a scrapper, Okay.
- 1:45Speaker 2: You know what? So am I just kick her like
- 1:48Speaker 2: I kickball. I would never do that. I would never
- 1:51Speaker 2: do that. The poor baby girl. Yeah, I would never do.
- 1:54Speaker 1: My old girl. Not my old girl. She's already dealt
- 1:57Speaker 1: with a lot. I tried cutting her nails yesterday and
- 2:01Speaker 1: she hates it when I try cutting her nails, like,
- 2:05Speaker 1: she fights me. She fights me. And unfortunately I cut
- 2:08Speaker 1: a little too close to the nail bed, so she's
- 2:11Speaker 1: extra mad at me. Like she actually started she started bleeding,
- 2:15Speaker 1: and I was like, oh, Shelly, this is why I
- 2:17Speaker 1: hate cutting your nails, and this is why you hate
- 2:19Speaker 1: it when I cut your nails, because you bite. And
- 2:21Speaker 1: I'm just like it chop, oh great, matlope what she did?
- 2:28Speaker 1: Like she's she's kicking her every time, Like I'm trying
- 2:30Speaker 1: to like like clip the nail, She's kicking her feet,
- 2:34Speaker 1: so I have to like hold her down. And when
- 2:35Speaker 1: I get her to the finally like just chill for
- 2:37Speaker 1: a bit, I go in and like like clip the nail,
- 2:41Speaker 1: but like she jerked right when I was clipping it
- 2:45Speaker 1: and I chopped it a little too close, and she
- 2:47Speaker 1: started her nail started bleeding, and I was like, fucking
- 2:50Speaker 1: hate I fucking hate my life because I feel bad.
- 2:53Speaker 1: I'm like, no, my baby, I'm sorry.
- 2:56Speaker 2: That's why. That's why it's a two person job.
- 3:01Speaker 1: I guess so, but I've tried, like getting my mom
- 3:04Speaker 1: to help me, and no, she Shelley just hates it
- 3:10Speaker 1: when we cut her nails. Like the only thing that
- 3:12Speaker 1: seems to like not that I'm able to get her
- 3:15Speaker 1: to like like let me do is like use the
- 3:21Speaker 1: I have like a drummle like a sander, and like
- 3:26Speaker 1: when I use that on her, she's caught like like
- 3:28Speaker 1: she'll kick a bit while I get it on her
- 3:30Speaker 1: nail and start like grinding the nail down, Like she'll
- 3:33Speaker 1: calm down a bit and it won't bother her. But
- 3:36Speaker 1: it's like she sees the nail clippers and that's it.
- 3:38Speaker 1: Like nope, She's like, Shelley, you're ten years old. You're
- 3:45Speaker 1: gonna start getting joint pain and I don't I don't
- 3:47Speaker 1: want you to like be walking on these long ass
- 3:51Speaker 1: like you're gonna hurt yourself and then I'm gonna be
- 3:55Speaker 1: the one that goes to jail because like, oh, you're
- 3:57Speaker 1: not taking care of your dog. I'm like, bitch, fuck
- 3:59Speaker 1: you take care of my dog.
- 4:02Speaker 2: But you can't take care of your dog when you
- 4:04Speaker 2: are a dog bitch.
- 4:16Speaker 1: Anyway, Whenever you're ready, I think we've how dare you go?
- 4:22Speaker 1: How dare I?
- 4:23Speaker 2: Hi? Welcome to the book Watchers, where I'm plotting Jacob's
- 4:26Speaker 2: demise writ in real time. Real time.
- 4:31Speaker 1: Yeah, he does that a lot, need too, he never really.
- 4:40Speaker 2: I have my way. I have my sources, that my techniques.
- 4:44Speaker 2: I'm skilled, have a particular set of skills. I'll help
- 4:49Speaker 2: me in this type of situation. I got you.
- 4:51Speaker 1: Wait, oh that's right.
- 5:09Speaker 2: It wasn't sensitive. That was that was.
- 5:15Speaker 1: The entire time. The entire time you were saying I
- 5:18Speaker 1: have a particular set of skills, I was just thinking, huh,
- 5:22Speaker 1: what about that time with your elbow? And that was
- 5:26Speaker 1: just from you walking to just throw out the trash.
- 5:29Speaker 2: And now that went to go get the ring books.
- 5:32Speaker 1: Yeah, the Amazon you gave me. You gave me that
- 5:36Speaker 1: ring book. I have it right here.
- 5:37Speaker 2: Yeah I do.
- 5:42Speaker 1: I mean, I'm not gonna say nothing at this point,
- 5:45Speaker 1: like it's it's buried under like several books. But of Godzilla, yeah,
- 5:50Speaker 1: I think like I think Godzilla has become my spirit totem,
- 5:55Speaker 1: my guardian for those of you listening, and he's keeping scato.
- 6:00Speaker 3: Oh my god, he's.
- 6:03Speaker 2: Ladies and gentlemen and others. If you're wondering, what the
- 6:05Speaker 2: hell are you talking about? I can see from about
- 6:09Speaker 2: the show I fucked up my elbow. Yeah, you can
- 6:13Speaker 2: see the scar.
- 6:15Speaker 1: And it was from him picking up this He went
- 6:17Speaker 1: to go pick up this book. He just got it delivered.
- 6:20Speaker 1: He went to go pick it up. In my defense,
- 6:25Speaker 1: it was this exact book.
- 6:26Speaker 2: It was, it was all. It was the whole series,
- 6:28Speaker 2: it was all four. To be too, beef, it's the
- 6:31Speaker 2: first one. This is like, uh huh, to be fair.
- 6:36Speaker 2: The Amazon delivery driver delivered it to the wrong fucking house.
- 6:40Speaker 2: So I had to walk to the other side of
- 6:43Speaker 2: the building I lived in to get it. And when
- 6:45Speaker 2: I was walking back, I didn't see there was a
- 6:47Speaker 2: hole in the hole in the dirt because I crossed
- 6:50Speaker 2: the grass. My foot went in, I went out. I
- 6:53Speaker 2: stretched out my army rack, so I shattered it. Take out.
- 7:00Speaker 1: Yeah, they had to pull out several pieces of his
- 7:03Speaker 1: of his elbow bones. So he doesn't have an elbow.
- 7:06Speaker 1: He does not have an elbow.
- 7:07Speaker 2: I do too. It's this very idy bitty.
- 7:09Speaker 1: Okay, so you see you see this right here. Most
- 7:14Speaker 1: people have this like on both arms. That's your l
- 7:20Speaker 1: that's like I don't know what that what that bone
- 7:22Speaker 1: is called. But he doesn't have that anymore.
- 7:28Speaker 2: Now, don't be spreading misinformation.
- 7:29Speaker 1: And it's and it's because of this book and the
- 7:32Speaker 1: other four and the other three books. But now he
- 7:35Speaker 1: gave me this, He gave me this book to read. Yep,
- 7:38Speaker 1: I did, okay, and you bet you're ass he was
- 7:41Speaker 1: hoping to pass on that curse.
- 7:44Speaker 2: I mean, in theory, you could stay with with the year,
- 7:47Speaker 2: with the last year, year and a half of you've had,
- 7:50Speaker 2: you could say the curse did move in a weird way. Unfortunately.
- 7:57Speaker 1: See but you see, like I'm a huge I have
- 8:01Speaker 1: the power of god and Godzilla on my side because
- 8:06Speaker 1: I look like my room like Godzilla Godzilla figures like
- 8:11Speaker 1: that's that's not all the Godzilla figures, Like there's tiny
- 8:14Speaker 1: figures here right in from my TV, but on my
- 8:18Speaker 1: on my bed because my bed is like I have
- 8:21Speaker 1: a special headboard shelf. It's a whole collection of Godzilla's.
- 8:31Speaker 1: So they're basically all they're all staring down Sadako, Like
- 8:37Speaker 1: they're just staring her down, like.
- 8:43Speaker 2: Do it, do it? Do it?
- 8:49Speaker 1: They're staring that bitch down. But anyway, this, like Devin said,
- 8:56Speaker 1: this camera, can I know, Devin, you gotta get your
- 9:01Speaker 1: bitch in line, man, just like slap her around a
- 9:03Speaker 1: few times. There he goes, mm hmmm.
- 9:07Speaker 2: It's coming back. It's coming back. There we go, beautiful stunning. So, uh,
- 9:14Speaker 2: where was I going with this. Oh. If you look
- 9:17Speaker 2: into the description boo, you will see a link to
- 9:22Speaker 2: the link tree that will take to the other podcast
- 9:24Speaker 2: of the productions, as well as the YouTube channel and such.
- 9:30Speaker 2: So all that would be their description below. Yeah, yeah,
- 9:38Speaker 2: all of us on YouTube. Great comment like give us
- 9:42Speaker 2: my interaction. We want more listenership.
- 9:46Speaker 1: Tickle that little notification, Bell, I would.
- 9:51Speaker 2: Like that you would like that when you freaking weirdo.
- 10:00Speaker 1: As much as you would.
- 10:03Speaker 2: That's a lie, That's a lie. Mm hmmm.
- 10:13Speaker 1: Yes, indeed, I hate you.
- 10:18Speaker 2: I mean I don't, but I'm gonna say I hate you.
- 10:22Speaker 1: Mm hmmm. Pain in my ass, Yes, you're, Yes, you're you're.
- 10:27Speaker 1: I can feel your anger mm hmm. Fuels me.
- 10:32Speaker 2: You gotta sleep at some point, mm hmm. Your cousin
- 10:38Speaker 2: will let me in. It's fine. So today we are
- 10:47Speaker 2: going to or I'm going to talk about well, first
- 10:51Speaker 2: and foremost, somebody finally finished all the time.
- 10:55Speaker 1: Yes I did. So after today's episode we will be
- 11:01Speaker 1: returning to the Wheel of Time series. We're gonna so
- 11:09Speaker 1: it's gonna wait until the end of the episode to
- 11:11Speaker 1: talk about it a bit more, but I guess we'll
- 11:12Speaker 1: just go ahead and talk about it, right now, so
- 11:16Speaker 1: there are right now, so like ten, eleven, twelve, thirteen, fourteen.
- 11:19Speaker 1: So we only got five books left in the Wheel
- 11:22Speaker 1: of Time series. Oh my god, only five? Yes, and
- 11:28Speaker 1: surprisingly not a lot happens in the individual books. Well, yeah,
- 11:36Speaker 1: a lot does happen, but not really, it's not until
- 11:39Speaker 1: a book. It's not until book fourteen.
- 11:45Speaker 2: Yeah, where a.
- 11:45Speaker 1: Lot of shit comes together. It is woo. I let
- 11:50Speaker 1: me tell you something that there was just so much
- 11:55Speaker 1: the stakes were high in book fourteen. There was so
- 12:00Speaker 1: much build up, There was so much happening, like there
- 12:04Speaker 1: was like a good like a good chunk of the book.
- 12:07Speaker 1: The the forces of the Light were losing. Oh no,
- 12:12Speaker 1: it was so it was intense. There were moments where
- 12:15Speaker 1: they thought they were winning, but then the Dark throw
- 12:18Speaker 1: something else at them and just like, oh shit, we're fucked.
- 12:21Speaker 1: But in the end they of course, like with any
- 12:26Speaker 1: story about fight, if good and evil, good wins, and
- 12:33Speaker 1: there some of the some of the characters that we've
- 12:37Speaker 1: grown to love throughout the series will not make it
- 12:40Speaker 1: to the end. I've already told Devin a little bit
- 12:42Speaker 1: about who.
- 12:43Speaker 2: Died, and yeah, how dare you?
- 12:51Speaker 1: Yeah, so I'm pretty I'm fairly convinced that George R. R.
- 12:59Speaker 1: Martin got so some inspiration for his books from the
- 13:02Speaker 1: Wheel of Time, especially when it comes to like in
- 13:05Speaker 1: the Wheel of Time, there's Kyrine has the Game of Houses,
- 13:09Speaker 1: and then of course there's the Game of Thrones. Yeah,
- 13:14Speaker 1: I'm fairly certain he got his inspiration from the Wheel
- 13:17Speaker 1: of Time, and towards and towards the end there it
- 13:22Speaker 1: was pretty much the Wheel of Time was turning into
- 13:24Speaker 1: a bit of the Game of Thrones because all because
- 13:27Speaker 1: all these characters that he became invested in are starting
- 13:29Speaker 1: to die, like both good and bad. And while many
- 13:34Speaker 1: of them and while I will say this, many of
- 13:36Speaker 1: many of our care like the good guys do make
- 13:39Speaker 1: it out alive, a lot of people die. It is
- 13:45Speaker 1: it is the it's called the Final Battle for for
- 13:48Speaker 1: a reason. Yeah, And it was a it was a
- 13:54Speaker 1: long and emotional ride, but in the end it was
- 13:58Speaker 1: worth it. I will I have to say Book twelve, thirteen,
- 14:02Speaker 1: and fourteen those were the books that were written by
- 14:04Speaker 1: Brandon Sanderson because Book eleven was the last book that
- 14:07Speaker 1: Robert Jordan had wrote before he had passed away. Luckily,
- 14:12Speaker 1: he had already pretty much finished up his story. He
- 14:16Speaker 1: had tons of notes and Brandon Sanderson was able to
- 14:19Speaker 1: come in and write the last three books and close
- 14:23Speaker 1: out the story. Though I'm not going to lie, there
- 14:27Speaker 1: was some things that he wrote about that you could
- 14:33Speaker 1: tell like, yeah, this was clearly written. This was clearly
- 14:35Speaker 1: an idea or something that a fast of the story
- 14:39Speaker 1: that Robert Jordan would have explored. But since he's no
- 14:43Speaker 1: longer among us, Brandon Sanderson included that in the story,
- 14:49Speaker 1: and it's pretty clear that it would have been explored,
- 14:52Speaker 1: but he didn't because his job was just to close
- 14:55Speaker 1: out the story, to give the readers the ending that
- 15:00Speaker 1: the readers and the Wheel of Time itself the ending
- 15:03Speaker 1: it deserved, and he did, and he did a very
- 15:05Speaker 1: He did a fantastic job. He did like he wrote,
- 15:09Speaker 1: He was very faithful to the source material, and he
- 15:13Speaker 1: maintained the characters' personalities and towards the end though you
- 15:20Speaker 1: could tell that he was filling in a lot of there.
- 15:23Speaker 1: He filled in the blanks a lot, and well, he
- 15:28Speaker 1: had to work with what he was given, but he
- 15:30Speaker 1: did a good job. I personally, I'm relieved that I
- 15:34Speaker 1: finished this series. It was such a good series, but
- 15:38Speaker 1: it was long, but I know there are many avid
- 15:41Speaker 1: readers out there who have probably written, like who's probably
- 15:44Speaker 1: read like a lot of the war Hammer books or
- 15:48Speaker 1: other series that have like dozens of books in just
- 15:51Speaker 1: one series alone. Kudos to you. But The Wheel of
- 15:56Speaker 1: Time is the first book series that I've ever read
- 15:59Speaker 1: where it had fourteen continuous novels. Like it wasn't like
- 16:04Speaker 1: fourteen novels all part one world but broken down into
- 16:08Speaker 1: different like storylines. No, this was one singular storyline, all right,
- 16:15Speaker 1: it was Yeah, it was just all one story. It
- 16:20Speaker 1: wasn't like, oh, the Wheel of Time and then you
- 16:22Speaker 1: have the like this series, this series and this series.
- 16:26Speaker 2: Right.
- 16:27Speaker 1: No, it was all one series. And I started reading
- 16:33Speaker 1: this at the time before recording this episode. It's August
- 16:37Speaker 1: right now, like early August right now, and sorry. And
- 16:45Speaker 1: I started reading this nine months ago, like in late November.
- 16:50Speaker 1: I had just finished watching The Wheel. The Wheel of
- 16:56Speaker 1: Time show on Amazon. Season two had just come out
- 16:58Speaker 1: around that time, and it reminded me like, oh, yeah,
- 17:01Speaker 1: I was thinking about reading this series because I realized
- 17:05Speaker 1: that this is this show is giving off like this
- 17:08Speaker 1: is giving this is giving like a book series vibe.
- 17:11Speaker 1: Like I'm pretty sure it was. It was based off
- 17:14Speaker 1: a book. So I I did research, found Robert Jordan's work,
- 17:19Speaker 1: realized that it was fourteen books long, and I was like,
- 17:22Speaker 1: do I want to because this is gonna this series
- 17:25Speaker 1: will take up a huge chunk of my life, Like
- 17:27Speaker 1: it'll take up like a good chunk of my life,
- 17:30Speaker 1: or at least for the yeah, for the for the
- 17:33Speaker 1: foreseeable future. And it did because now here we are
- 17:38Speaker 1: almost a year later and I just finished the series.
- 17:41Speaker 1: And for those of you are wondering, like God, like
- 17:43Speaker 1: why didn't you finish it sooner? Because like, I like
- 17:45Speaker 1: to take my time when I read my books, thank
- 17:47Speaker 1: you very much. I like to enjoy it. And sometimes
- 17:50Speaker 1: though like I and a lot of times it's not
- 17:52Speaker 1: I'm not that kind of reader that immediately pulls out
- 17:54Speaker 1: a book and starts reading whenever I have downtime, Like
- 17:57Speaker 1: I'll read for a bit, do other things, all right,
- 18:01Speaker 1: explore other things, come back to reading. That's just I'm
- 18:04Speaker 1: just that I'm a chaotic reader. I'll read for a bit,
- 18:07Speaker 1: step away, come back read hell I want I went.
- 18:10Speaker 1: Sometimes I'll take like a whole week off, just a break,
- 18:13Speaker 1: just as a break, like all right, I need a
- 18:15Speaker 1: break from reading and I'll just not read for a
- 18:16Speaker 1: whole week. Yeah, So that's how that's how my reading
- 18:22Speaker 1: journey goes. And then and that's why here we are,
- 18:25Speaker 1: almost a year later, finally finished reading fourteen, the fourteen
- 18:28Speaker 1: book series that was The Wheel of Time. And next
- 18:32Speaker 1: week and for the next few episodes, we will be
- 18:36Speaker 1: reviewing the last five books. So the way I'm going
- 18:41Speaker 1: to do it is starting with book ten, We're going
- 18:45Speaker 1: to review two books at a time, So book ten
- 18:48Speaker 1: and eleven will be reviewing together. And then because like
- 18:53Speaker 1: really like, yeah, there's a lot that goes on in
- 18:55Speaker 1: the story, but surprisingly it's not. It's kind of like
- 19:00Speaker 1: a Robert Jordan by this point had gotten so that
- 19:03Speaker 1: like decided to like like he he had gotten into
- 19:07Speaker 1: the habit of breaking up the stories into multiple books,
- 19:10Speaker 1: so he puts less in each book. That way he
- 19:12Speaker 1: can keep the series going. But unfortunately he passed away
- 19:15Speaker 1: before he can finish. And then Robert and then Brandon
- 19:17Speaker 1: Sanderson concluded with the last three books. So book ten
- 19:23Speaker 1: and eleven will be our next we'll be on our
- 19:26Speaker 1: next episode. Book twelve and thirteen will be in this
- 19:30Speaker 1: episode after that, and then book fourteen, A Memory of
- 19:34Speaker 1: Light will be its own stand It will be its
- 19:38Speaker 1: own episode, and it deserves its own episode because it
- 19:45Speaker 1: it's the final battle.
- 19:46Speaker 2: Yep.
- 19:47Speaker 1: This is it the conclusion to the story, and honestly
- 19:53Speaker 1: it makes me wish, like god, I wish there was
- 19:55Speaker 1: more like a like a sequel to this story, but unfortunately,
- 19:59Speaker 1: where may never see that because the original author is
- 20:03Speaker 1: no longer among us and doesn't look like Brandon Sanderson
- 20:09Speaker 1: will come back and review and revisit this storyline. Yeah,
- 20:14Speaker 1: mainly because he does not own the rights to it.
- 20:16Speaker 1: So who knows. With the success of The Wheel of
- 20:20Speaker 1: Time Amazon show, they may see they may see about
- 20:27Speaker 1: getting Brandon Sanderson to like revisit the story because at
- 20:32Speaker 1: this point, like the Wheel of Time is cyclical, It's
- 20:37Speaker 1: history is it's cyclical, so he can easily explore, you
- 20:41Speaker 1: can they can easily explore more of the story and
- 20:45Speaker 1: do their own take on it. I mean, that's what
- 20:47Speaker 1: they did with the show. And like it's still it's
- 20:51Speaker 1: technically can into the original story. It's just that it's
- 20:53Speaker 1: a different it's the same story, but it's slightly different. Yeah,
- 21:00Speaker 1: which you got a hand to them. It's like, Okay,
- 21:05Speaker 1: there's that artistic license working for you. So but anyway,
- 21:13Speaker 1: we will not we are not going to be talking
- 21:15Speaker 1: about those books this episode. I still need to compile
- 21:19Speaker 1: my notes for that, and my notes are extensive. Oh shit,
- 21:28Speaker 1: work like already I already, like this is just these
- 21:32Speaker 1: are just the notes that I've taken. Like there's only
- 21:36Speaker 1: like four pages so far, like two pages front and back.
- 21:40Speaker 1: But this is that's just what ten yeah, yeah, and
- 21:47Speaker 1: I'm not even finished with them. I still got to
- 21:49Speaker 1: write out notes for like the the the final the
- 21:52Speaker 1: part the like the final part of that of that book,
- 21:54Speaker 1: and then get get started on book eleven, twelve thirteen fourteen.
- 21:58Speaker 2: Yeah, so that'd be for the next three week yeah,
- 22:04Speaker 2: three weeks after after this episode. But today's episode, I
- 22:09Speaker 2: am going to be talking about something that is connected
- 22:13Speaker 2: to the thing I talked about last week. So last week,
- 22:16Speaker 2: of course, I did Sadako at the End of the World,
- 22:20Speaker 2: and that is a manga spin off of the Ring
- 22:24Speaker 2: franchise or Ringu, which you know, as Jacob showed earlier
- 22:28Speaker 2: in the episode, the reason why I broke my elbow. Well,
- 22:32Speaker 2: we talked about those books someday, most definitely rust I'm
- 22:36Speaker 2: gonna go over the whole manga. I'm gonna go over
- 22:38Speaker 2: the books. We're gonna go over the TV movie, We're
- 22:42Speaker 2: gonna go over the films, the American and Japanese. Like
- 22:44Speaker 2: we got the I got the whole works paper. We're
- 22:45Speaker 2: gonna do a whole It's gonna be a whole fucking
- 22:47Speaker 2: two months process of all that. It's gonna be great.
- 22:50Speaker 2: But that's for a future future episodes. But I decided
- 22:55Speaker 2: to kind of my dip our foot into the ring world.
- 23:00Speaker 2: And of course last week was one one one shot
- 23:04Speaker 2: split off manga, and this one this week is another one. Now,
- 23:07Speaker 2: this one's not as depressing at face value, but if
- 23:15Speaker 2: you look, if you're reading between the lines, pressing as fuck,
- 23:20Speaker 2: it's kind of pressing as fuck, yeah, if you're reading
- 23:23Speaker 2: between the last. So this one's called Sodco Son And
- 23:27Speaker 2: so with this one, it takes place and seems to
- 23:33Speaker 2: be modern day times because you mentioned the internet YouTube
- 23:38Speaker 2: of flat screen TV, cell phones, Internet, and this one,
- 23:44Speaker 2: Sodaco comes out of a TV and a house what
- 23:48Speaker 2: seems to be like an empty house as she goes
- 23:51Speaker 2: into this closet and finds a young girl. Now, this
- 23:55Speaker 2: young girl, the way she never gets here, like how
- 23:58Speaker 2: old she is exactly, but you can't assume she's like
- 24:01Speaker 2: maybe four or five. She's like ity bitty, a little
- 24:06Speaker 2: child toddler, so I would say around four or five.
- 24:11Speaker 2: And Sodaca come walks into the closet, and of course
- 24:15Speaker 2: this girl introduces herself. She's like, oh hi, it's like
- 24:19Speaker 2: it's Sodaco because she knows who she is, obviously, because
- 24:22Speaker 2: Sonako finds out of course, in this monga, Sodaka can
- 24:25Speaker 2: talk to people telepathically, so you get like these thought
- 24:29Speaker 2: bubbles and stuff from from Sodako herself as she talks
- 24:32Speaker 2: directly to whoever she's facing. So she finds out that
- 24:38Speaker 2: this little girl watched her cursed videotape from inside the closet,
- 24:44Speaker 2: and this is not some gay joke now her so
- 24:48Speaker 2: she knows who Soldako is. For the mere factor, her
- 24:50Speaker 2: mother thinks she is this liow girl is the reincarnation
- 24:55Speaker 2: of Sodako. So she lives in this closet that is
- 25:01Speaker 2: jam packed with talisman's all over the walls while ceiling
- 25:05Speaker 2: inside the door. It's full coverage, and her mom locks
- 25:11Speaker 2: her in the closet or a good chunk of the day,
- 25:14Speaker 2: and then when she leaves she'll actually like unlock it,
- 25:16Speaker 2: and she can. She's not supposed to leave the closet,
- 25:20Speaker 2: but she can if she she so chooses. So, and
- 25:25Speaker 2: this is where the depressing part kind of comes in,
- 25:28Speaker 2: because the mom basically seals away her daughter because she
- 25:32Speaker 2: thinks she's the reincarnation of Sodaga, which in reality is
- 25:36Speaker 2: it's not true. But her mother is a little you
- 25:41Speaker 2: never see the mother in this book, by the way,
- 25:43Speaker 2: you just hear about, Oh well, we'll get to it.
- 25:48Speaker 2: So Sonaco and this little girl kind of chat and
- 25:54Speaker 2: that she said, oh am I cursed now, and Sonica's
- 25:59Speaker 2: more like she's confused. It's like, uh, why are you here?
- 26:09Speaker 2: She's more curious and like, what's going on? What You're
- 26:12Speaker 2: not the reincarnation to me? I'm right here. And that's
- 26:17Speaker 2: when she learns that she's not allowed to leave the room,
- 26:20Speaker 2: but she can go online, of course, and she can
- 26:22Speaker 2: interact with the world through her phone and her computer,
- 26:26Speaker 2: well most of her phone. And Shellie knows Astaco through
- 26:31Speaker 2: what her mom says and of course the curse tape,
- 26:33Speaker 2: and she learns that her that basically, I mean, this
- 26:42Speaker 2: girl is lonely. So she makes a friend with Sodaco
- 26:45Speaker 2: becomes friends with her, and then they decided to get
- 26:47Speaker 2: an idea to help Sodaco spread the curse. She's like, oh,
- 26:51Speaker 2: let's spread the curse together. Let's do it. And they're like, hell, yeah,
- 26:54Speaker 2: how are we going to do it? Because TVs are
- 26:56Speaker 2: not she she likes coming looks coming out of the
- 27:00Speaker 2: old school TVs. Yeah, and they don't have that nowadays.
- 27:04Speaker 2: And she's like, you can come out with the phones, right,
- 27:06Speaker 2: and she's like, yeah, but it's not It's better to
- 27:11Speaker 2: come out of an old school TV. So it kind
- 27:13Speaker 2: of goes into the idea of like what would Snako
- 27:16Speaker 2: do in modern day age, but in a kind of
- 27:18Speaker 2: a comedic way, because Sonac's like, uh, I don't get this.
- 27:23Speaker 2: This is weird. Why do I have to use the internet?
- 27:26Speaker 2: I can just come out with TVs? But no one
- 27:28Speaker 2: will watch the videotape unless they do on the internet
- 27:33Speaker 2: because VHS is they're not a thing anymore, or they're
- 27:36Speaker 2: very they're a oh my god, they're retro vintage. God.
- 27:43Speaker 2: It feels so old, and.
- 27:47Speaker 1: For our younger viewers, VHS was how we watched movies
- 27:52Speaker 1: back then at home.
- 27:54Speaker 2: The fact that you have to explain what VHS ages us.
- 27:57Speaker 1: My dad, Well, we'd have to you would have to
- 27:59Speaker 1: explaining what a landline is to some kids nowadays, Like
- 28:05Speaker 1: you would have to explain what dial up was to
- 28:07Speaker 1: some kids. Though granted I have I'm with them there
- 28:10Speaker 1: because I didn't have dial up growing up.
- 28:13Speaker 2: You don't know, you're not that much.
- 28:17Speaker 1: Yeah, but like my parents weren't that kind of They
- 28:20Speaker 1: weren't really that into tech when I was a kid,
- 28:24Speaker 1: Like my mom definitely wasn't. My dad. He didn't really
- 28:27Speaker 1: care for a dial up. But I remember we did
- 28:30Speaker 1: have like a computer, uh, like just a regular desktop computer,
- 28:34Speaker 1: but it was one of those like boxy ones, like
- 28:37Speaker 1: big old tower like and these big ass screens basically
- 28:43Speaker 1: like a like an actual like a little TV uh
- 28:48Speaker 1: and uh. But I don't think we had dial up
- 28:53Speaker 1: because this was in the early two thousands. I think
- 28:57Speaker 1: like it was just we were just now coming in
- 29:00Speaker 1: to the age of like it was still like a
- 29:03Speaker 1: landline service, but it wasn't that dial up you know
- 29:07Speaker 1: when you do dial up and it's like it makes
- 29:09Speaker 1: that sound.
- 29:11Speaker 2: It wasn't the transitional period of dial up and broadband
- 29:16Speaker 2: and stuff was like that weird transitional period I remember.
- 29:20Speaker 1: Yeah, he had to. He still had to make sure
- 29:23Speaker 1: his computer was plugged in. And I think it was
- 29:27Speaker 1: in the mid two thousands that's when we started getting
- 29:28Speaker 1: Wi Fi. But like he, he was my dad was
- 29:32Speaker 1: the one who was starting to embrace the tech, thet tech.
- 29:34Speaker 1: My mom wasn't. But even though Dad they were both
- 29:37Speaker 1: like getting more into tech, they didn't want me and
- 29:39Speaker 1: my brother to like rely on it because they were
- 29:42Speaker 1: the ones. They were the kind of people that thought like, oh, well,
- 29:45Speaker 1: tech isn't going to be really, that isn't going to
- 29:47Speaker 1: be very reliable. Like, so don't get don't don't rely
- 29:51Speaker 1: on it because it's not that reliable. Now Here we are, yeah,
- 29:55Speaker 1: now here we are. I'm recording this for my Mac
- 29:59Speaker 1: but pro, and I have my and I have an
- 30:01Speaker 1: iPhone and then I have a PlayStation. All right, like
- 30:04Speaker 1: I have tech. I carry tech with me everywhere. I
- 30:07Speaker 1: have a smart watch.
- 30:07Speaker 2: Too, my mic so my camera.
- 30:11Speaker 1: So like here, I am totally dependent on technology though
- 30:16Speaker 1: I still though I still flex on people like I know,
- 30:19Speaker 1: I know I can, I can get from two places
- 30:23Speaker 1: without needing GPS. I mean I know people that are
- 30:27Speaker 1: all like.
- 30:30Speaker 2: I can. But my sense of directions a little fucked
- 30:33Speaker 2: unless I've been there several times. That's I mean, don't
- 30:39Speaker 2: make don't give me that look.
- 30:41Speaker 1: Damn driving with like I used to drive with Uber,
- 30:45Speaker 1: and I now know pretty much where everything is in
- 30:47Speaker 1: San Antonio because I've been.
- 30:48Speaker 2: To like all over the place.
- 30:51Speaker 1: Uber took me. Yeah, Uber took me everywhere. Yeah, And
- 30:57Speaker 1: well I'm glad I don't work with Uber anymore. That
- 30:59Speaker 1: was one. I appreciate it. I appreciate about it.
- 31:04Speaker 2: But yeah, So Sotaka is trying to get into the
- 31:08Speaker 2: new world of technology and the internet. So they decided
- 31:12Speaker 2: to make a YouTube channel or it's like a video.
- 31:16Speaker 2: They don't I don't think they actually directly say YouTube.
- 31:18Speaker 2: It's YouTube, and they call they called the channel a
- 31:21Speaker 2: double Sadako because the girl never got First off, the
- 31:25Speaker 2: girl never got named as a child. Her mom just
- 31:28Speaker 2: referred to her as reincarnation of Dago. But she took
- 31:31Speaker 2: on the name cool my name is Sotaka because she
- 31:35Speaker 2: never really she doesn't really have a name. And that's
- 31:37Speaker 2: when the sadness hits that this girl's abused and neglected.
- 31:44Speaker 2: Luckily you don't see any of it. But again, it's
- 31:46Speaker 2: just like reading between the lines and some of the
- 31:48Speaker 2: things she says and the way we'll get to it.
- 31:53Speaker 2: There is one part that's like nothing, nothing like that,
- 31:58Speaker 2: but it's more like her birthday comes around and her
- 32:02Speaker 2: mother locks her and locks her in the closet and
- 32:05Speaker 2: she thinks she did something wrong when she didn't. She
- 32:08Speaker 2: does exist, and it's it's that's a little depressing, but
- 32:13Speaker 2: we'll have myself. So Double Soticle is the channel they
- 32:18Speaker 2: made and they are making videos to helpfully spread the curse,
- 32:21Speaker 2: Sodacal's curse to everyone in the world, and they decided
- 32:25Speaker 2: to collaborate with a another another YouTuber guy, and then
- 32:30Speaker 2: he gets into the mix and Sadcle visits him and
- 32:33Speaker 2: he gets cursed, and there's a He's like, she basically
- 32:37Speaker 2: threatens this guy. Threatens this guy and say, hey, you're
- 32:40Speaker 2: gonna help us or I'm gonna kill you with my
- 32:43Speaker 2: curse or curse your sister. He's like, no, not my sister.
- 32:48Speaker 2: So he helps them get more views and he just
- 32:52Speaker 2: saw to go how to put ads ads on the
- 32:56Speaker 2: on the curse video so she can make money. I'm like,
- 33:01Speaker 2: that's kind of funny, that's kind of it is.
- 33:04Speaker 1: That is kind of funny though.
- 33:06Speaker 2: That's kind of funny. How to monetize that shit, And
- 33:10Speaker 2: they try to reenact coming out of a well so
- 33:13Speaker 2: that he use a bathtub because they don't she doesn't
- 33:16Speaker 2: have access to the well, like cuz he's a bathtub
- 33:19Speaker 2: and just have it come out of that. It's it's
- 33:22Speaker 2: it's funny, it's adorable. And basically it's just this little
- 33:27Speaker 2: girl trying to uh, interacting with people for the first
- 33:33Speaker 2: time and first time in like ever outside of her mom.
- 33:36Speaker 2: And she's that and she's finally getting like socializing, learning
- 33:41Speaker 2: how to be a person. And it's where the sadness
- 33:44Speaker 2: kind of kicks in that her mom doesn't let her
- 33:47Speaker 2: interact with the world around her, so this is the
- 33:50Speaker 2: only way for her to do it with a ghost
- 33:53Speaker 2: and a man that's somewhere in Japan. And it I mean,
- 34:02Speaker 2: I mean, it's basically the comic at face value, there's
- 34:04Speaker 2: something there's no like other storyline that happens. It's a
- 34:07Speaker 2: bunch of little, quick, little comic strips of them making
- 34:11Speaker 2: the YouTube videos, them talking about how they're going to
- 34:13Speaker 2: spread the curs Staca, threatening the the guy to help them,
- 34:18Speaker 2: and how to monetize and she takes the monetization money
- 34:22Speaker 2: and she goes and buys little Sadako a teddy bear,
- 34:26Speaker 2: and she sticks in front of her door because little
- 34:29Speaker 2: Sadakoa talked about how she went a big old teddy bear,
- 34:31Speaker 2: the biggest she can find, and she couldn't get one.
- 34:35Speaker 2: Obviously her mom didn't. Her mom didn't get her one,
- 34:38Speaker 2: but Sadako did and she put in front of the
- 34:40Speaker 2: closet door. So when her birthday came around and Staco
- 34:45Speaker 2: Chan was locked in the closet, she saw a teddy
- 34:48Speaker 2: bear there and she thought her mom gave it to her,
- 34:51Speaker 2: but in reality it was not. It was the ghost
- 34:55Speaker 2: the curse. It was Sodaco Soo son and she is
- 35:01Speaker 2: honestly being more of a mother to the girl than
- 35:04Speaker 2: her actual mother. So that's a whole other level of
- 35:07Speaker 2: sadness there. Yeah, And basically it's a lot of back
- 35:12Speaker 2: and forth that and funny little moments of them trying
- 35:15Speaker 2: to spread the curse and shit and figure out ways
- 35:17Speaker 2: how to do that. And at the very end they're like, wait,
- 35:22Speaker 2: you're curse on in the last seven days, and then
- 35:26Speaker 2: they die. We've been doing this for seven months. You
- 35:31Speaker 2: haven't really hursed anybody, and then it ends. They're like,
- 35:35Speaker 2: oh shit, fucked up, and it ends straight up just
- 35:39Speaker 2: ends when they realize it's been seven months and no
- 35:41Speaker 2: one's died, like fuck, and then just ends it's great.
- 35:44Speaker 2: I thought it was kind of funny. I was like,
- 35:46Speaker 2: it's been seven months and you haven't killed anybody, girl, girl, And.
- 35:53Speaker 1: She was just having too much fun with their little friend.
- 35:56Speaker 2: Yeah, pretty much, and it's funny. Causatako's like, I don't
- 36:00Speaker 2: like going out of phone. She's little little girls, like
- 36:04Speaker 2: can you? And you see an image of her kind
- 36:07Speaker 2: of ghosting into a phone and like half her body's
- 36:10Speaker 2: hanging out. She's like, I've gained some weight since my days.
- 36:16Speaker 2: And then they make a crack we can make YouTube
- 36:18Speaker 2: videos about dieting and then shave your head if you
- 36:20Speaker 2: don't lose enough weight in like a month, and I'm
- 36:22Speaker 2: just like, oh my god, no, no, absolutely not. And
- 36:27Speaker 2: then there's a whole thing where's like, oh my god,
- 36:31Speaker 2: let's give you a haircut and comb your hair and
- 36:33Speaker 2: you can look pretty, and she does that. Seems to
- 36:37Speaker 2: be a guy a running gag with Soto, since her
- 36:39Speaker 2: hair is all really and nappy for being in the
- 36:43Speaker 2: well for thirty years. Yeah, but that's pretty much where
- 36:47Speaker 2: it ends. It doesn't give like a it doesn't give
- 36:50Speaker 2: like a legit conclusion kind of just tapers off like
- 36:54Speaker 2: watch I Found a high episode. Yeah, and that's pretty
- 36:57Speaker 2: much Sun and Coachan. It's depressing, but in a different way.
- 37:03Speaker 2: When you get that realization, it just hits you and
- 37:05Speaker 2: you're like, oh my god, and then you guys. Then
- 37:08Speaker 2: for me, I sat there and wondered, it's sad to
- 37:11Speaker 2: go even there? Or is this little girl imagining her?
- 37:19Speaker 2: Then it got real depressing and I'm like, oh.
- 37:23Speaker 1: It's that moment when you it's that moment when you
- 37:27Speaker 1: like start thinking about it more and you're just like,
- 37:30Speaker 1: oh that.
- 37:31Speaker 2: That just makes me well sad, that makes me depressed.
- 37:37Speaker 2: But it's a good read. Yeah, I mean it's a
- 37:39Speaker 2: fun little read if you like. And the Ring and
- 37:42Speaker 2: all that's a fun little comedy manga with underlying tones
- 37:46Speaker 2: of don't think about too hard, you'll get real sad.
- 37:50Speaker 2: But that's the book, that's the manga for you. Of course,
- 37:54Speaker 2: it's gonna be the last time we talk about SOT
- 37:56Speaker 2: for a while. I do plan on coming back to
- 37:59Speaker 2: these because I do have the books of course except
- 38:04Speaker 2: for the last one, because the last one has not
- 38:06Speaker 2: been released in the United States, get on that. But
- 38:11Speaker 2: I do have the books. I have the melnga of
- 38:14Speaker 2: the main series based on the movies, and then of
- 38:16Speaker 2: course I have the American films and the Japanese films,
- 38:19Speaker 2: so they're gonna be episodes on all that fun stuff.
- 38:23Speaker 2: But thank you all for listening. Today's episode catches next
- 38:26Speaker 2: time as we dive back into the wheel of time. Baby,
- 38:31Speaker 2: I'm excited.
- 38:32Speaker 1: Oh yeah, yeah, I'm I'm excited to close out the series.
- 38:37Speaker 1: And I'm also excited to start reading other books because
- 38:40Speaker 1: I'm not gonna lie. There's just there was a point
- 38:42Speaker 1: where I was like, this is taken up too much
- 38:44Speaker 1: my life and any diversity. But I'm not that kind
- 38:48Speaker 1: of reader that could just pause reading one book and
- 38:50Speaker 1: start reading another. Yeah, I just I'm just not like,
- 38:55Speaker 1: like the next book I'm actually reading. Is this book
- 38:58Speaker 1: a little book I got for Christmas?
- 38:59Speaker 2: Slash?
- 39:00Speaker 1: Was it Christmas or Birthday? You gave it to me?
- 39:04Speaker 1: I know you did, so that's all I'm.
- 39:07Speaker 2: Christmas, I think, yes, because you.
- 39:09Speaker 1: Gave it to me with the Mathra figure right with
- 39:12Speaker 1: my mathra pop. Yes, So Devin gifted me this. He
- 39:16Speaker 1: already read it and he says it's great, and I've
- 39:18Speaker 1: been wanting to read it too, so like almost a
- 39:21Speaker 1: year now, but I had other priorities and I have
- 39:25Speaker 1: other books literally, like there's a stack of them on
- 39:28Speaker 1: my on my shelf over here that I'm gonna be reading.
- 39:30Speaker 1: And uh, after the Wheel of Time, Uh, of course, Devin.
- 39:37Speaker 1: There's more books Devin wants to review, like The Ring,
- 39:40Speaker 1: and then we're gonna review Dead Silence, and I'm trying,
- 39:43Speaker 1: I'm trying really hard to think of what other books
- 39:46Speaker 1: we can review. There's that. I don't think I'm gonna
- 39:53Speaker 1: go back and reread those. No, I don't want to
- 39:55Speaker 1: review Game of Thrones because mainly because I haven't read
- 39:58Speaker 1: them all, and also because if you want to read them,
- 40:03Speaker 1: we can review it. You're just gonna be the one
- 40:04Speaker 1: that takes the rain on it. Because I couldn't get
- 40:07Speaker 1: past the Red Wedding I read as far. That's how
- 40:09Speaker 1: far I read The Red Wedding really like actually it
- 40:16Speaker 1: ruined the entire story for me, just seeing like like
- 40:20Speaker 1: the like I literally bet all my money on the
- 40:25Speaker 1: Starks and they all got betrayed that way. And I
- 40:28Speaker 1: was just like, I'm done. It's been that that series
- 40:34Speaker 1: has been out for over a decade now, and the
- 40:37Speaker 1: series has been has been finished for home a decade now.
- 40:42Speaker 2: It's not finished the the show is finished, but the
- 40:48Speaker 2: books are not.
- 40:51Speaker 1: Well fucking rot. Well, George our Mountain needs to work
- 40:54Speaker 1: on it. I can't talk right now. George R. Martin
- 40:56Speaker 1: needs to work, like, get get his ass and gear
- 40:58Speaker 1: and go finish the series, damn it. But no, Like
- 41:03Speaker 1: back to my point, it has been literal decades since
- 41:07Speaker 1: this series has been out, and if you don't know
- 41:13Speaker 1: anything about it, like we're we're well past the statute
- 41:17Speaker 1: of limitations for spoilers. Okay, so because they're there are
- 41:23Speaker 1: literal spoilers all over the internet right now. You could
- 41:26Speaker 1: look up Summery, you could look up a summary of
- 41:28Speaker 1: the of the entire story. You can look up YouTube videos.
- 41:31Speaker 1: You can go on Max right now and watch the
- 41:34Speaker 1: entire thing.
- 41:34Speaker 2: Yeah, but that's all my list of things to do,
- 41:38Speaker 2: because I wouldn't mind doing the Throne series. I was
- 41:43Speaker 2: thinking on the Fire and Ice or what the fuck
- 41:44Speaker 2: is called.
- 41:46Speaker 1: I was thinking of reviewing the Dresden Files eventually, because
- 41:49Speaker 1: I do have the first three books. I was in
- 41:51Speaker 1: the middle of reading, uh, Full Moon, which is book two.
- 41:58Speaker 1: I don't remember how many books there are in that series,
- 42:01Speaker 1: but I want to go back and like finish reading it.
- 42:03Speaker 1: Dress and Files is like it's one of those books
- 42:08Speaker 1: I wanted to read that was slightly outside of my
- 42:10Speaker 1: typical genre because I typically read sci fi and fantasy
- 42:14Speaker 1: books of course, like with the Will of Time and
- 42:17Speaker 1: things like that, but it's more of a ma Cob
- 42:22Speaker 1: So yeah, there's like it's there's magic, there's wizards, there's Fay,
- 42:26Speaker 1: there's Fay and demons and ship. But it's more of
- 42:31Speaker 1: a like Harry Dresden is a he is a private investigator,
- 42:37Speaker 1: but he preferred but he investigates supernatural crimes. So it's
- 42:43Speaker 1: it's outside of that excitement that I'm used to. It's
- 42:48Speaker 1: more of a mystery. Yeah, so like a fantasy like
- 42:52Speaker 1: a mystery, like a fantasy mystery genre. And uh, that's
- 42:59Speaker 1: why I'm having that why I'm kind of like going
- 43:01Speaker 1: back and forth like reading it. Like I took me
- 43:03Speaker 1: a while to read the first book, get around and
- 43:05Speaker 1: reading the first book, and then I said reading the
- 43:07Speaker 1: second book, but I was like, I want to read
- 43:09Speaker 1: something else. This is like it's a good it's a
- 43:11Speaker 1: good series, but it's like, yeah, it's my favorite genre,
- 43:14Speaker 1: that's the thing. But but I do want to do that.
- 43:17Speaker 1: I get to figure out. I got to look at,
- 43:18Speaker 1: like how many books there are, because I have the
- 43:21Speaker 1: first three and then I think there's like seven or
- 43:24Speaker 1: eight books in the series. Don't quote me on that,
- 43:28Speaker 1: but I think it's an ongoing series too, because it's
- 43:32Speaker 1: been out for a long time.
- 43:34Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I have a several I have a small
- 43:37Speaker 2: list of books and you get through as well, like
- 43:39Speaker 2: more brom books like The Child Thief and Christmas. I
- 43:43Speaker 2: want to do Crampist because there's a crampst story I
- 43:45Speaker 2: want to do. But there's there's a small list of
- 43:49Speaker 2: books I have, like the for another one. Another one
- 43:52Speaker 2: of the big ones is the Chronicles and Ernie. I
- 43:54Speaker 2: had the whole series of books and the whole series
- 43:56Speaker 2: of audiobooks. I want Area zero that trilogy. That'd be
- 44:03Speaker 2: fun because I have access to those books as well
- 44:06Speaker 2: as the audio book. There's a small list I have
- 44:11Speaker 2: going on, Oh what if Loki? What Marvels? What if? Logi?
- 44:15Speaker 2: And then the other one coming out this month that's
- 44:18Speaker 2: the what if Wanda was Peter Parker's sister, which seems
- 44:24Speaker 2: very interesting. Yeah, there's a whole they're that whole series
- 44:27Speaker 2: I want to do too. So oh yeah, we have
- 44:29Speaker 2: a list of books coming in after the Whale of Time,
- 44:32Speaker 2: but we gotta finish out the Whale of Time.
- 44:35Speaker 3: Yep, oh shit, how many books? Seventeen Jesus Christ.
- 44:46Speaker 1: But these are these are like, these are novels, so
- 44:49Speaker 1: they're not as they're not as like they're not as
- 44:52Speaker 1: long as The Wheel of Time got like the Wheel
- 44:55Speaker 1: of Time books were long.
- 44:57Speaker 2: Yeah, Like.
- 45:01Speaker 1: Honestly, reading the Wheel of Times was like reading a
- 45:03Speaker 1: slightly I was reading a longer Reading The Wheel of
- 45:06Speaker 1: Time was like reading a longer version of The Lord
- 45:08Speaker 1: of the Lord of the Rings, but it was more
- 45:13Speaker 1: up to the time. It was more up to date
- 45:16Speaker 1: and the times and things like that. It was written
- 45:18Speaker 1: in the newer writing styles. I mean. The series ended
- 45:22Speaker 1: in the mid like mid to late two thousands, like
- 45:25Speaker 1: two thousand and eight was when the last book came out,
- 45:26Speaker 1: I think. And while it's not on the same level
- 45:32Speaker 1: as the as Lord of the Rings, it's definitely like
- 45:37Speaker 1: it's that it's a classic fantasy series. It's definitely a
- 45:40Speaker 1: classic now and I don't think it's getting the recognition
- 45:45Speaker 1: or the love that it deserves. But still it's it's
- 45:50Speaker 1: still a relatively unknown series, and hopefully more and more
- 45:54Speaker 1: it becomes it continues to be popular and they keep
- 45:58Speaker 1: making making more of the series because it's series is
- 46:01Speaker 1: not doing bad.
- 46:03Speaker 2: That's some pretty good. Where's the show going?
- 46:05Speaker 1: Yeah, it's pretty good. The thing is is that I
- 46:08Speaker 1: hope in the next few series they address some things
- 46:11Speaker 1: from the original source material, like they don't really explain
- 46:14Speaker 1: the differences in the in the one uh, in the
- 46:17Speaker 1: One Power, or like what really separates men and women
- 46:20Speaker 1: like male and female channelers? Yeah, because like all they
- 46:24Speaker 1: mentioned like offhandedly, like oh, we can't women can't see
- 46:29Speaker 1: a man's weaves, like the we like a channeler's weaves
- 46:34Speaker 1: are invisible to the to a non channeler, but to
- 46:39Speaker 1: other channelers. Women can only see other women's weaves, while
- 46:44Speaker 1: men can only see their other men's weaves. Yeah, and
- 46:49Speaker 1: they never in the show. It doesn't explain why, and
- 46:52Speaker 1: it doesn't explain that, oh, the True Source has literally
- 46:55Speaker 1: two halves, a male and female half. Yeah, and if
- 46:58Speaker 1: you're and depending on like your gender, that's the half
- 47:02Speaker 1: the drawn. Yeah, but I think that's part of but
- 47:06Speaker 1: that's nowadays that's a touchy subject it comes to gender.
- 47:15Speaker 2: That'd be cool to explore though, what do you do
- 47:18Speaker 2: what happens somebody's transgender?
- 47:21Speaker 1: And while there isn't much about transgender about trans people
- 47:28Speaker 1: in the Wheel of Time, there were several There was
- 47:33Speaker 1: a character who uh he was one of the forsaken.
- 47:39Speaker 1: He got he was killed in literally book one. He
- 47:42Speaker 1: was one of the first to forsaken to be killed.
- 47:46Speaker 1: And the dark One can bring the forsaken back to life,
- 47:52Speaker 1: and he does this through a soul transmigration. So when
- 47:58Speaker 1: you die, he captures soul and puts it in a
- 48:01Speaker 1: new body. And the thing is is that as his
- 48:05Speaker 1: way of punishing this one particular forsaken for failing him,
- 48:11Speaker 1: he put his soul into the body of a woman. Yeah,
- 48:15Speaker 1: so while his soul was in the body of a woman,
- 48:17Speaker 1: he could still channel from the male half of the
- 48:21Speaker 1: true source. So that so imagine, like, so I can
- 48:27Speaker 1: imagine that. I'm pretty sure there would be like there
- 48:30Speaker 1: could be trans uh, like, there could be trans transgender
- 48:37Speaker 1: channelers m hm. And it could either be like, well
- 48:42Speaker 1: they trans while they do transition from man to woman
- 48:45Speaker 1: or woman to man, they'd still draw. They would still
- 48:47Speaker 1: draw on like the female or male half the source,
- 48:51Speaker 1: or if they were if they were a man like
- 48:54Speaker 1: goes deeper into being a man trapped in a woman's
- 48:56Speaker 1: body or vice versa, then it's like they could they
- 49:01Speaker 1: could have explored that. And hell like there are there
- 49:06Speaker 1: are gay people in the books. Yeah, now this isn't
- 49:09Speaker 1: until uh, it isn't until much later in like the
- 49:13Speaker 1: later half of the series that they started talking where
- 49:16Speaker 1: it's mentioned. It's not really they don't delve into that
- 49:18Speaker 1: topic very deeply. But there are several characters that were
- 49:25Speaker 1: either gay or like the other characters mentioned or like
- 49:30Speaker 1: had gay experiences, like some Iid Eye were straight up lesbians.
- 49:36Speaker 1: There's PolyAm there's polyamory, hell, especially among the iceid I,
- 49:40Speaker 1: especially among the green Naja, because the green Naja are
- 49:43Speaker 1: the ones that have more than just one order. And
- 49:46Speaker 1: so and there was one green Naja and uh, there
- 49:49Speaker 1: was one iceid Eye in particular, who rumor had it
- 49:52Speaker 1: that she married all three of her orders. It's just
- 49:56Speaker 1: like girl work. But there were several of the great uh,
- 50:03Speaker 1: several of the I said I who straight up admitted
- 50:05Speaker 1: that they've had relationships with others, like with other with
- 50:10Speaker 1: other members of the isid I. And then there were
- 50:12Speaker 1: some male characters that like other characters commented on like
- 50:17Speaker 1: oh yeah, that dude prefers men.
- 50:20Speaker 2: Like in.
- 50:22Speaker 1: Uh, Like towards the end, one of them, one of
- 50:25Speaker 1: the one character comments on another is like, you know,
- 50:28Speaker 1: we need to like you know, it's gonna be that
- 50:30Speaker 1: guy's like the way he acts is gonna be it's
- 50:32Speaker 1: gonna make it harder for him to find a wife.
- 50:33Speaker 1: And then another character was like, yeah, it would be hard,
- 50:36Speaker 1: especially because he prefers men, and the others like what
- 50:39Speaker 1: like like he clearly prefers men, like the other one
- 50:43Speaker 1: just called out that dude like he clearly prefers men.
- 50:45Speaker 1: And its just like it's not there's no homophobia, that's clear,
- 50:50Speaker 1: there's no homophobia. It's just more of those things that's like, oh,
- 50:54Speaker 1: they exist and it's not it's not like they're not
- 50:57Speaker 1: hated and they're not like it's not something that is
- 51:02Speaker 1: really commented on, but it's definitely like oh okay.
- 51:06Speaker 2: Yeah, matter of fact.
- 51:07Speaker 1: It's like it's more yeah, it's very matter of fact,
- 51:10Speaker 1: like okay, yeah, I mean if you're if you're a channeler,
- 51:13Speaker 1: like the least of your problems is being gay.
- 51:15Speaker 2: Yeah, but yes, catch us next time as we talk
- 51:20Speaker 2: about go back into the world of wheel of time.
- 51:23Speaker 2: Until then, ah bye, oh god, oh god, I need
- 51:30Speaker 2: to end this correctly.
