- 0:19Speaker 1: Hi, this is Lance Henderson, and you're listening to Movie Meltdown.
- 0:22Speaker 2: Listen if you dare.
- 0:28Speaker 3: It's showtime.
- 0:29Speaker 4: The following feature has been rated R by the Motion
- 0:32Speaker 4: Picture Association of America.
- 0:34Speaker 2: It is intended for mature audiences, and parental discretion is advised.
- 0:38Speaker 5: Our nuclear reactor pumping out one million kilowatts of power.
- 1:08Speaker 5: to provide more cooling in the containment chamber. To your stations,
- 1:11Speaker 5: we have.
- 1:12Speaker 2: A movie meltdown.
- 1:13Speaker 6: You know what?
- 1:14Speaker 7: I will have some meatloaf. Let's have some meatloaf.
- 1:16Speaker 5: You want some?
- 1:16Speaker 8: Yes!
- 1:17Speaker 9: I knew you'd come.
- 1:18Speaker 4: Hey, Mom!
- 1:19Speaker 9: The meatloaf!
- 1:21Speaker 10: We want it now!
- 1:22Speaker 9: What's up and welcome to Movie Meltdown. I'm Brian, and
- 1:34Speaker 9: this week we'll be coming to you live via digital
- 1:36Speaker 9: recording from the Old Spaghetti Factory here in Louisville as
- 1:39Speaker 9: we bring you coverage from one of our signature events,
- 1:42Speaker 9: the Yeti Spaghetti Show. So if you've been listening for
- 1:47Speaker 9: a while, you'll remember our first Yeti Spaghetti live event
- 1:50Speaker 9: and all the ridiculous glory that surrounded it. But if
- 1:54Speaker 9: you haven't heard it, it is still available at MovieMeltOn.com.
- 1:57Speaker 9: Just go to the episodes link and then go back
- 2:00Speaker 9: to November of 2012 and that's where you'll find the
- 2:03Speaker 9: first Yeti Spaghetti episode. Now that time, the movie wasn't
- 2:07Speaker 9: a question. Yeti, Giant of the 20th Century, is an
- 2:11Speaker 9: amazing and completely ridiculous movie that also happened to be Italian,
- 2:16Speaker 9: so it was a perfect tie-in for the spaghetti fest
- 2:19Speaker 9: we were having. But going into this latest show, well,
- 2:22Speaker 9: we had a new location, we were opening it up
- 2:24Speaker 9: to a larger audience, so I wasn't really sure what movie.
- 2:28Speaker 11: To go with.
- 2:29Speaker 9: Or more specifically... how bad a movie to go with.
- 2:33Speaker 9: I mean, with the usual meltdown gang, I don't worry
- 2:36Speaker 9: about it. I've had them sit through some pretty terrible
- 2:38Speaker 9: movies in the past, so I know they can handle it.
- 2:41Speaker 9: But with a wider audience, maybe everyone isn't as familiar
- 2:45Speaker 9: with epically bad movies, so maybe they wouldn't be okay
- 2:49Speaker 9: with going that deep into the depths of horrendous movies.
- 2:53Speaker 9: So I thought, okay, I'll let the audience decide. I'll
- 2:56Speaker 9: come prepared with an option that's just sort of run-of-the-mill
- 2:59Speaker 9: and watchable... And then the epic bad movie that I
- 3:03Speaker 9: originally thought that we should show. I mean, there was
- 3:05Speaker 9: one that first came to me that was almost equally
- 3:08Speaker 9: as on the level of bad as Yeti, Giant of
- 3:11Speaker 9: the 20th Century. And it was sort of an infamous
- 3:14Speaker 9: film in the movie geek circle. So I was like,
- 3:17Speaker 9: all right, that was my first thought of what to
- 3:19Speaker 9: go with. But maybe that won't work. So basically, I
- 3:22Speaker 9: thought I would let them choose their own Yeti adventure
- 3:25Speaker 9: and inadvertently seal their own fate or doom as the
- 3:28Speaker 9: case may be. So that's the scenario. Now let's head
- 3:31Speaker 9: over to the old spaghetti factory and see what happens
- 3:34Speaker 9: with the live audience. And yes, I'm purposely working in
- 3:37Speaker 9: a little of that background noise so that you can
- 3:39Speaker 9: hear some of the audience responses. Later we'll get rid
- 3:42Speaker 9: of most of that, but I kind of left it
- 3:44Speaker 9: open so you can get a little of the full
- 3:46Speaker 9: effect of having the audience on hand.
- 3:49Speaker 7: So.
- 3:49Speaker 9: All right, let's head over there now. What's up and
- 3:51Speaker 9: welcome to Movie Meltdown's presentation of the Yeti Spaghetti Show.
- 3:54Speaker 9: I did want to say thank you to the Old
- 3:57Speaker 9: Spaghetti Factory. They have let us come here and hang
- 4:00Speaker 9: around and unleash our Yeti in the middle of this mess.
- 4:03Speaker 9: So for tonight's show, we actually have a choice for
- 4:06Speaker 9: you guys. If you'll notice, we hadn't billed the movie.
- 4:10Speaker 9: It's mostly because I wasn't sure what you were up for.
- 4:14Speaker 9: So we have a mediocre bad movie or we have
- 4:18Speaker 9: a painfully bad movie. So however you guys would like
- 4:22Speaker 9: to go about it. We can take a vote here
- 4:25Speaker 9: as to how painful you want this experience to be. Painful?
- 4:33Speaker 9: Voting for epic bad? Okay.
- 4:35Speaker 6: Okay.
- 4:37Speaker 9: If that's what you want. All right, so we're taking
- 4:41Speaker 9: a vote. Mediocre bad film or epic bad? It's painfully
- 4:45Speaker 9: bad on the second option. Our table over here is
- 4:48Speaker 9: voting for horrible, so we have... All right, if everyone's
- 4:53Speaker 9: up for it, I wasn't sure what you guys were
- 4:55Speaker 9: willing to put up with because it's painful. It's juvenile
- 5:01Speaker 9: and slapsticky. If you're ready for it.
- 5:07Speaker 12: Alright.
- 5:08Speaker 9: Epic bad? Is that your vote? Alright. Hurt is plenty.
- 5:14Speaker 9: Hurt is plenty, I believe is what Dave just said there.
- 5:18Speaker 9: We'll check back with him later and see if he
- 5:20Speaker 9: feels that he made the right choice. So in making
- 5:23Speaker 9: their choice, what they signed on to watch was in
- 5:25Speaker 9: fact To Catch a Yeti. Starring the fine acting skills
- 5:30Speaker 9: of none other than Meatloaf, it is considered by many
- 5:33Speaker 9: to be one of the worst films of all time.
- 5:36Speaker 9: Now that's certainly arguable, but it's pretty bad. So hopefully
- 5:40Speaker 9: you two are equally as much of a glutton for
- 5:42Speaker 9: punishment as our audience was, and you've already taken it
- 5:45Speaker 9: upon yourself to watch the, um, film. If not, go
- 5:49Speaker 9: seek it out. It's something you sort of have to
- 5:52Speaker 9: experience all on your own. Oh yeah, and I found
- 5:55Speaker 9: this great short film to kick things off, so here,
- 5:59Speaker 9: I tell them a little about that as well. So
- 6:01Speaker 9: it is a full show, which also includes a short
- 6:04Speaker 9: film that may be better than anything else you'll have
- 6:07Speaker 9: this evening. I'm glad I came upon it, and it
- 6:10Speaker 9: involves a popular superhero, an A-list special guest star, actually,
- 6:17Speaker 9: and a yeti with a weird fetish, we'll say. So
- 6:22Speaker 9: enjoy the short film, and you've chosen the horrible movie,
- 6:25Speaker 9: so you can enjoy that. Good luck to you. Yes,
- 6:28Speaker 9: it has all of those things. So I'll work in
- 6:31Speaker 9: a few little clips in here during the break, but
- 6:33Speaker 9: you really should see it for yourself. So if you're interested,
- 6:36Speaker 9: drop me a line on Facebook or an email form,
- 6:38Speaker 9: and I'll send you the link.
- 6:40Speaker 5: It's out there, and.
- 6:41Speaker 6: It's pretty awesome.
- 6:42Speaker 9: All right, with that, we'll take our break and experience
- 6:44Speaker 9: some of the pre-movie attractions that we had on hand
- 6:47Speaker 9: that night. And when we come back, the audience will
- 6:50Speaker 9: have suffered through this week's feature, and we'll begin to
- 6:53Speaker 9: get their reactions. So on with the Yeti Spaghetti Show.

- 9:46Speaker 9: Roadies the bands make it rock but the roadies make.
- 9:51Speaker 4: It pro thank you very much and good night now
- 9:57Speaker 4: here you are the best spaghetti in town.
- 10:01Speaker 17: Spider-Man Okay, true believers, what happens when a furry monster
- 10:15Speaker 17: from the frozen north, an abominable snowman known to his
- 10:18Speaker 17: friends as the Yeti, threatens a large metropolitan area? You're
- 10:22Speaker 17: about to find out as Spidey meets the Yeti. It's
- 10:28Speaker 17: a warm summer day and a young woman is about
- 10:31Speaker 17: to refresh herself with a double scoop fudge ripple ice
- 10:34Speaker 17: cream cone.
- 10:35Speaker 6: When suddenly.
- 10:48Speaker 3: Hey, you, come back here.
- 10:50Speaker 7: You just bent my cone.
- 10:52Speaker 17: Spider-Man, who's been out jogging to keep in shape, appears
- 10:55Speaker 17: on the scene.
- 10:56Speaker 3: Oh, Spider-Man, am I glad to see you. Some big
- 11:00Speaker 3: furry monster just came in.
- 11:01Speaker 17: Here and sat on my double-spooped fudge ripple ice cream cone.
- 11:06Speaker 5: Dave, I do not get superheroes.
- 11:08Speaker 6: Oh, my God, I don't get you. What don't you get?
- 11:11Speaker 6: Tower bot here.
- 11:13Speaker 16: Well, the meatbags were going to say that if you're
- 11:16Speaker 16: a geek and like podcasts, then you could try Tower
- 11:19Speaker 16: of Technobabble at www.toweroftechnobabble.com. Then this started.
- 11:27Speaker 6: Well, it's up to you.
- 11:28Speaker 9: I'm gonna get my taser and put a stop to this.
- 11:31Speaker 2: Towerbot out.
- 11:34Speaker 7: Okay, monkeys.
- 11:35Speaker 6: It's nap time. Meanwhile....
- 11:43Speaker 17: In another part of the city, an off-duty policeman is
- 11:46Speaker 17: about to enjoy a well-deserved snack.
- 11:50Speaker 9: Ah, grape soda with plenty of ice.
- 11:53Speaker 2: Just the way I like it.
- 11:55Speaker 10: Hey! Help!
- 11:56Speaker 9: Help!
- 11:56Speaker 18: Police!
- 12:13Speaker 10: Police! Help!
- 12:18Speaker 9: That's me.
- 12:21Speaker 5: Oh, Spider-Man. Boy, am I glad you're here. Listen, a
- 12:25Speaker 5: big furry thing just.
- 12:27Speaker 3: Came along here, sat right on my grape soda.
- 12:30Speaker 4: If I hadn't been off duty, why, I'd have arrested
- 12:33Speaker 4: him for unlawful sitting.
- 12:37Speaker 12: Oh, this is the night, it's a beautiful night, and
- 12:44Speaker 12: we call it a well-known night.
- 12:50Speaker 9: Hey kids, it's Brian. So, you're listening to this episode,
- 12:54Speaker 9: and it sounds pretty good, right? That's because we're using
- 12:58Speaker 9: our new mics from the Doo-Wop Shop. We are using
- 13:00Speaker 9: the VLH-SM2000s that are made specifically for the Doo-Wop Shop.
- 13:06Speaker 9: And if you want one, you can go get one yourself.
- 13:08Speaker 9: They are actually only $ 65 if you want to buy one,
- 13:11Speaker 9: or they rent everything in the Doo-Wop shop, so you
- 13:13Speaker 9: can go there and get it for as little as
- 13:16Speaker 9: $ 5 a month. So you too can be out there
- 13:17Speaker 9: using your microphones to record a show, or interview people, or,
- 13:21Speaker 9: I don't know, most people probably have, like, bands and,
- 13:24Speaker 9: you know, rent instruments and stuff, which.
- 13:25Speaker 2: They also do.
- 13:26Speaker 9: They have a huge selection.
- 13:27Speaker 2: Of instruments, so.
- 13:29Speaker 9: Anything you need for any type of event, whether it's
- 13:31Speaker 9: a music show or a business meeting or whatever kind
- 13:34Speaker 9: of occasion you've got, they've pretty much got everything covered.
- 13:37Speaker 9: So they are located in Louisville. You can go to
- 13:40Speaker 9: the Highland Store at 1587 Bartstown Road or in the
- 13:44Speaker 9: East End at 2915 South Hirspurn Parkway. Even if you're
- 13:47Speaker 9: not in the area, they have the website like most businesses,
- 13:50Speaker 9: but you go to doo-wop.com. And specifically, they have a
- 13:55Speaker 9: huge selection of karaoke discs. So you can actually go
- 13:57Speaker 9: to the website. They have thousands of titles to choose from,
- 14:00Speaker 9: and they're only like $ 4. 99 a month. So whatever you
- 14:03Speaker 9: need karaoke-wise, they can hook you up through the internet,
- 14:06Speaker 9: and you don't even have to be in the area.
- 14:08Speaker 9: So again, that is doo-wop.com.
- 14:11Speaker 2: Go there.
- 14:11Speaker 9: They'll have whatever you need. They certainly did with us
- 14:14Speaker 9: for the mic. So yeah, go to doo-wop.com and check
- 14:17Speaker 9: it out.
- 14:18Speaker 17: It should sound like the Yeti.
- 14:20Speaker 3: It is the Yeti.
- 14:21Speaker 17: And what other mischief is he up to? Meanwhile... It's
- 14:25Speaker 17: time for Tales from the Cryptid.
- 14:29Speaker 15: It's Teddy Bear. What do you mean?
- 14:50Speaker 8: Mom!
- 14:50Speaker 10: Dad!
- 14:51Speaker 19: What is it?
- 14:51Speaker 6: What happened?
- 14:52Speaker 5: My present!
- 14:53Speaker 12: It escaped!
- 14:53Speaker 10: What do you mean? The animal!
- 14:55Speaker 17: It ran into your backpack!
- 14:56Speaker 8: Wait a second.
- 14:56Speaker 5: What are you talking about?
- 14:57Speaker 9: What animal?
- 14:57Speaker 10: My present!
- 14:58Speaker 15: The one you brought me!
- 14:59Speaker 4: No.
- 15:00Speaker 9: This is the present I brought you from Nepal.
- 15:03Speaker 7: No, it scared me. It was like a teddy bear.
- 15:05Speaker 7: It went behind the chair. It's okay, honey.
- 15:09Speaker 19: It's all right.
- 15:12Speaker 7: It didn't hurt you, did it?
- 15:14Speaker 8: No.
- 15:14Speaker 3: It ran into your backpack.
- 15:19Speaker 17: Now we know who ate your pie.
- 15:20Speaker 11: What are we.
- 15:21Speaker 7: Going to do?
- 15:21Speaker 9: I mean, we can't just leave.
- 15:22Speaker 7: It there behind the chair.
- 15:23Speaker 10: I don't know.
- 15:24Speaker 5: I mean, I've never seen anything like this.
- 15:25Speaker 9: Is it?
- 15:26Speaker 5: What do I look like?
- 15:27Speaker 7: Well, isn't there someone.
- 15:28Speaker 10: We can call or something?
- 15:29Speaker 7: Okay, we can't call somebody.
- 15:30Speaker 9: It's against the law.
- 15:31Speaker 7: I could go to jail.
- 15:32Speaker 18: Okay?
- 15:33Speaker 11: And though I pleaded on my bed to not to
- 15:37Speaker 11: walk out that.
- 15:38Speaker 9: Door She packed her bags and.
- 15:41Speaker 10: Turned right away And she kept on telling me. She
- 15:49Speaker 10: kept on telling me. She kept on telling me.
- 15:56Speaker 11: I want you. I need you. But there ain't no
- 16:02Speaker 11: way I'm ever gonna love you.
- 16:06Speaker 6: Now don't be sad.
- 16:10Speaker 10: Don't be sad.
- 16:12Speaker 14: Cause you have me.
- 16:17Speaker 9: Alright, are you ready to break this.
- 16:20Speaker 5: Thing down?
- 16:23Speaker 9: First, would you like to give your take on the movie?
- 16:26Speaker 3: Best movie I've ever seen. I had a tear in
- 16:29Speaker 3: my eye there at the end.
- 16:30Speaker 9: Me too, but for a different reason.
- 16:33Speaker 5: I think I might have to own it.
- 16:36Speaker 14: It's that good.
- 16:38Speaker 9: Good is what you're saying. Good.
- 16:41Speaker 3: I'd like to learn to ski on my feet.
- 16:44Speaker 9: You need giant Bigfoot feet. See if you can get that.
- 16:48Speaker 9: Have you ever seen my feet? Do we want to
- 16:51Speaker 9: go there, really? I thought we weren't supposed to tell
- 16:53Speaker 9: that in front of Greg. That would be Greg's word.
- 16:58Speaker 5: That's my wife.
- 17:03Speaker 9: Would you like to tell us what you think of
- 17:06Speaker 9: the movie?
- 17:07Speaker 5: I loved it.
- 17:08Speaker 9: I wish we had more kids over here to watch that.
- 17:11Speaker 9: It took me back like when I was six. We're
- 17:14Speaker 9: all very juvenile, if that helps. I mean, Yeah, exactly.
- 17:21Speaker 6: 77, I heard.
- 17:22Speaker 9: Yeah, with the kids. And what was your name?
- 17:26Speaker 5: Albert Laker. Awesome.
- 17:29Speaker 9: All right, so we have a special guest, Dave from
- 17:31Speaker 9: Tower of Technobabble. Dave, what do you think of this masterpiece?
- 17:36Speaker 6: There was a Tkechi Yeti-sized hole in my soul that
- 17:39Speaker 6: is now filled. I feel final and complete.
- 17:44Speaker 9: It's a special film.
- 17:46Speaker 6: Now, is this pre-Fight Club or post-Fight Club meatloaf?
- 17:51Speaker 9: 95, I believe. So that's right before, maybe?
- 17:55Speaker 6: Those mullets, I would have put it back in 87, 88, perhaps.
- 17:58Speaker 9: I have it here. Let me make.
- 18:01Speaker 17: Sure.
- 18:02Speaker 9: Trying to hold all this crap.
- 18:04Speaker 6: I am just going by mullets. I mean, if it's
- 18:06Speaker 6: shot in Canada, I know they're like eight years behind.
- 18:08Speaker 9: I think there was a little Canadian action going on there.
- 18:11Speaker 6: Yeah, I heard in a boat, I think.
- 18:12Speaker 9: 1995, though.
- 18:14Speaker 6: Wow. Well, they are like eight years behind us. You know, heroin.
- 18:19Speaker 9: A boot eight years behind us.
- 18:20Speaker 6: A boot. So anyway, yes, I feel complete now. I
- 18:24Speaker 6: feel that my time on Earth has been well spent
- 18:27Speaker 6: and can now end.
- 18:29Speaker 9: Please let it end? Is that what you're saying?
- 18:32Speaker 6: It's getting better now towards the end. I'm going back
- 18:35Speaker 6: up the roller coaster now.
- 18:36Speaker 9: There we go. Slallowing to your doom eventually. But for now,
- 18:41Speaker 9: it's all going back up.
- 18:44Speaker 6: My favorite thing is, though, it has something in common
- 18:46Speaker 6: with Star Trek The Next Generation in that the phrase,
- 18:49Speaker 6: shut up, Wesley, was used twice.
- 18:51Speaker 9: I guess they get that beforehand. They stole from Star
- 18:56Speaker 9: Trek The Next Generation.
- 18:59Speaker 6: Shut up, Wesley.
- 19:01Speaker 9: Would you like to give your take on the film?
- 19:04Speaker 18: It was the most awesomely bad movie I have ever
- 19:08Speaker 18: seen in my entire life.
- 19:10Speaker 9: And you live with Dave, so.
- 19:12Speaker 18: And I do live with Dave, so I have seen
- 19:13Speaker 18: a lot of awesomely bad movies.
- 19:16Speaker 6: It's not a facial hazard.
- 19:17Speaker 18: This one takes the cake by a lot.
- 19:21Speaker 9: Fair warning, I was like, this is rough.
- 19:23Speaker 18: You delivered on said promise of epically bad.
- 19:28Speaker 9: The other one was just mediocre, so you guys, you
- 19:30Speaker 9: made the tough call, but.
- 19:31Speaker 14: But it was way better.
- 19:32Speaker 18: To see this movie with a huge group of people, so,
- 19:35Speaker 18: rather than just, you know, the two of us.
- 19:37Speaker 9: At home, yeah, you would have been stabbing your eyes out.
- 19:39Speaker 6: What was the other one? I want to do the
- 19:42Speaker 6: black box comparison.
- 19:43Speaker 9: We should just save that for a future episode.
- 19:46Speaker 1: That's true.
- 19:47Speaker 18: There's only so many Yeti movies, right? You've got to
- 19:49Speaker 18: keep one in the can.
- 19:50Speaker 9: Oddly enough, there's a lot. I have to say, I'm
- 19:54Speaker 9: shocked at how many I've come across now.
- 19:55Speaker 18: Are they all equally bad?
- 19:57Speaker 9: Kind of. That's kind of why I was like, we
- 19:59Speaker 9: do have a really good amount, and a lot lately
- 20:02Speaker 9: now that the wonderful Sci-Fi Channel has come along. Got it.
- 20:06Speaker 18: Well, we'll have to stay tuned.
- 20:07Speaker 7: Hang on.
- 20:08Speaker 6: You're a girl.
- 20:09Speaker 4: What?
- 20:10Speaker 6: What time frame would you put this movie in?
- 20:13Speaker 18: I would say between 81 and 83.
- 20:17Speaker 6: I was actually closer.
- 20:22Speaker 9: 95.
- 20:23Speaker 18: Oh, good lord. I should have known.
- 20:26Speaker 12: Wow.
- 20:29Speaker 6: You win. If this was the Price is Right, I
- 20:32Speaker 6: would have won because neither one of us went over.
- 20:36Speaker 9: It's a good bid, then.
- 20:39Speaker 6: It's been a slice of heaven. Or slice of something, anyway.
- 20:42Speaker 9: Spaghetti?
- 20:43Speaker 6: Yes, it's been a slice of spaghetti.
- 20:45Speaker 9: All right, well, I will free you back into the world.
- 20:52Speaker 9: I'd chew your own leg off to escape if I
- 20:55Speaker 9: were you, so... Thank you.
- 20:56Speaker 14: For doing this.
- 20:57Speaker 5: It was awesome.
- 20:58Speaker 9: Awesomely bad.
- 20:59Speaker 6: The world is now a smaller, colder place.
- 21:05Speaker 9: Much like my heart.
- 21:06Speaker 7: All right!
- 21:08Speaker 9: Thank you for joining us tonight.
- 21:10Speaker 14: Where did you find that monstrosity?
- 21:11Speaker 9: Hell.
- 21:14Speaker 6: All right.
- 21:15Speaker 9: Do we want to get to the details of this mess?
- 21:18Speaker 5: In our usual fashion.
- 21:20Speaker 9: It is time for our special edition of Yeti Spaghetti Show.
- 21:24Speaker 9: And so we're doing out on the town these special
- 21:26Speaker 9: tales from the cryptid version. We have so many subsections
- 21:29Speaker 9: of monster movies I can't keep up at this point.
- 21:32Speaker 9: The film is To Catch a Yeti. The year is 1995.
- 21:34Speaker 9: The director is Bob Keene. Yeah, everyone has said that
- 21:39Speaker 9: so far. 95. Director Bob Keen. The plot, according to IMDB,
- 21:45Speaker 9: they don't have one. If that tells you something. So, whatever.
- 21:51Speaker 9: Hunter searches for the elusive yeti. Ridiculousness ensues. Spoiler alert!
- 21:55Speaker 9: We don't want to ruin this for you, so go
- 21:57Speaker 9: seek it out and find it yourself.
- 22:00Speaker 11: Suckers.
- 22:01Speaker 9: Alright, where would you like to begin? Bill, this is
- 22:04Speaker 9: the first time you've been on the show. You've Witness
- 22:08Speaker 9: the wonder of this movie. What are your thoughts on it?
- 22:12Speaker 5: Well, the space scenes were my favorite. Were you watching
- 22:19Speaker 5: Critters 4? Wait a minute.
- 22:23Speaker 19: You know, I'm kind of speechless because for one thing,
- 22:27Speaker 19: I thought it was a lot older than it was.
- 22:29Speaker 5: And for another, I've never heard of this movie. Milos'
- 22:33Speaker 5: acting is amazing. His one-liners are great. Yeah.
- 22:38Speaker 19: That was a very interesting mixed family. Part Asian, part
- 22:41Speaker 19: another country.
- 22:46Speaker 5: I don't know. Very entertaining.
- 22:53Speaker 9: Who else has wonderful thoughts on this film?
- 22:57Speaker 5: I don't know anybody else. I don't officially know you.
- 23:00Speaker 9: We can round out the rest of the introduction.
- 23:03Speaker 5: Josh. I don't know you or you.
- 23:07Speaker 3: I'm Christian.
- 23:09Speaker 9: You can't escape, Lucy. You have to at least tell
- 23:11Speaker 9: us what you think before you go.
- 23:15Speaker 6: I don't know. I'm sorry.
- 23:16Speaker 1: I'm just trying to sneak out because I have a
- 23:18Speaker 1: long drive ahead of me.
- 23:19Speaker 9: That's true.
- 23:19Speaker 14: I do.
- 23:20Speaker 6: Thank you for coming.
- 23:20Speaker 1: And so much thinking to do about that film.
- 23:22Speaker 9: So much mulling over.
- 23:24Speaker 1: Yeah, the next hour and 15 minutes in my car
- 23:26Speaker 1: is going to be pretty heavy.
- 23:28Speaker 7: You're welcome.
- 23:31Speaker 3: I enjoyed how.
- 23:32Speaker 1: The last half hour, it seemed always on the precipice
- 23:35Speaker 1: of going really, really, really dark. Like when all of
- 23:38Speaker 1: a sudden Meat Loaf suggests that they take the guns
- 23:41Speaker 1: into the house, like do a home invasion in the
- 23:43Speaker 1: middle of the night, like arm to the teeth.
- 23:46Speaker 9: It becomes Straw Dogs for a second.
- 23:48Speaker 1: I was like, oh, this could be someplace really scary.
- 23:50Speaker 1: And then when she went all sort of like, yeah,
- 23:53Speaker 1: vigilante on them. And then, you know, he's threatening her parents.
- 23:57Speaker 3: He's inside the house with guns.
- 24:00Speaker 9: They're about to asphyxiate. Yeah.
- 24:01Speaker 3: It could have been.
- 24:04Speaker 7: Really, really?
- 24:04Speaker 4: I mean, it's.
- 24:05Speaker 9: Already bad, but it could have gone differently.
- 24:10Speaker 1: My whole takeaway is I'm really concerned about the safety measures.
- 24:14Speaker 1: I feel like inside their home, that's not fire code
- 24:18Speaker 1: to have windows in the basement that don't open from
- 24:22Speaker 1: the interior.
- 24:23Speaker 9: I didn't really understand that either.
- 24:24Speaker 7: But they were alarmed because you saw the alarm company sticker.
- 24:27Speaker 14: It wasn't back in the alarm.
- 24:29Speaker 9: But yeah, I mean, she was able to climb.
- 24:32Speaker 1: houses jump off roofs i mean she could do anything
- 24:35Speaker 1: except open a window well and.
- 24:37Speaker 8: I like the the about two minutes wasted of her
- 24:41Speaker 8: dad walking her as she comes down the roof to
- 24:46Speaker 8: get her off safely from the roof and put in
- 24:49Speaker 8: the car because most filmmakers would sort of leave that
- 24:53Speaker 8: scene out because it didn't really drive the plot.
- 24:56Speaker 9: Anywhere And as someone in the audience exclaimed, they're like,
- 25:00Speaker 9: it's okay, honey. Daddy's here now. She just saved you.
- 25:04Speaker 9: She just had an elaborate plan where she very smartly
- 25:09Speaker 9: laid waste to her villain and rescued you two with
- 25:12Speaker 9: the help of a Yeti, of course. And then she
- 25:15Speaker 9: can't get off a roof by herself.
- 25:16Speaker 19: I think the whole premise of the movie was basically
- 25:20Speaker 19: that none of.
- 25:21Speaker 5: The parents all the way around had any right having children.
- 25:27Speaker 9: I think that about a lot of people I see
- 25:29Speaker 9: in the world. Lucy has escaped now, so goodbye, Lucy.
- 25:34Speaker 9: She's back on the road already. How does this help us, Mr.
- 25:37Speaker 11: Grizzly?
- 25:38Speaker 20: It helps this way. These two guys were climbing in Nepal, right?
- 25:42Speaker 20: It's a small town, and there's bound to be a story.
- 25:46Speaker 20: We find these guys, and we find that Yeti.
- 25:55Speaker 6: Dave Bristow.
- 25:58Speaker 20: Mike Kelly. Officer Mike Kelly.
- 26:03Speaker 14: You mean one of them's a cop?
- 26:05Speaker 20: One of them's a cop. Let's stay away from him.
- 26:11Speaker 20: Dave Bristow, age 37, married.
- 26:16Speaker 9: Wife's name is Kate.
- 26:18Speaker 20: Daughter's name is Amy. Runs a camping goods store.
- 26:23Speaker 9: His daughter runs a camping goods store, Mr.
- 26:25Speaker 7: Grizzly?
- 26:29Speaker 6: Are you stupid?
- 26:32Speaker 18: Yes?
- 26:33Speaker 3: I just want to say I would do anything for Yeti,
- 26:35Speaker 3: but I won't do that. It had to be sad.
- 26:40Speaker 9: Well, yeah, that's the thing. I was like, you just
- 26:41Speaker 9: saved me from making that horrible, horrible.
- 26:44Speaker 8: I feel bad because I would have thought that the
- 26:46Speaker 8: whole movie would be peppered with him dropping lines from
- 26:49Speaker 8: his songs, and not a single meatloaf song nor lyric
- 26:53Speaker 8: was mentioned in the entire movie.
- 26:55Speaker 9: You're thinking of an equally impressive movie, Spice World.
- 26:59Speaker 21: And then I'm glad that he finally explained what he
- 27:03Speaker 21: had around his neck because I thought for sure that
- 27:07Speaker 21: was a Bigfoot dick the entire time.
- 27:11Speaker 9: Maybe this is his cover story, that whole rabbit's foot thing.
- 27:15Speaker 7: But the entire time you kept seeing this furry thing
- 27:18Speaker 7: around his neck and I thought for sure that was
- 27:21Speaker 7: like a Bigfoot trophy. Just a whole other movie. Just
- 27:24Speaker 7: a whole other movie.
- 27:26Speaker 8: Well, that is prequel material right there.
- 27:31Speaker 9: Actually, there, I don't know about specifically Yeti, but there
- 27:36Speaker 9: is definitely Bigfoot porn out there. So if you need
- 27:38Speaker 9: that in particular, we can probably find that movie for you.
- 27:41Speaker 8: So that could be like Bigfoot porn slash torture porn.
- 27:46Speaker 7: This was torture porn, was it not?
- 27:48Speaker 4: I mean.
- 27:53Speaker 22: Okay, well, let's just discuss the story as a whole.
- 27:56Speaker 22: How many things do we feel they ripped off? I mean,
- 27:59Speaker 22: everything feels like it was a piece of another movie
- 28:02Speaker 22: crammed into this one.
- 28:04Speaker 9: I feel like it's already a, not even low rent,
- 28:07Speaker 9: it's like ghetto level of E.T. ripoff, right?
- 28:11Speaker 14: Short circuit. Hey, when was Fight Club? Because that was.
- 28:16Speaker 9: 1999.
- 28:17Speaker 14: So that was for.
- 28:19Speaker 7: I had to look that up.
- 28:20Speaker 9: Oh, yeah, right.
- 28:22Speaker 3: We're not supposed to talk about that.
- 28:26Speaker 9: Are you in the club?
- 28:29Speaker 5: Can't talk about it.
- 28:30Speaker 9: Let's go in the parking lot and take care of this.
- 28:35Speaker 9: So are we comparing it to just because he was
- 28:37Speaker 9: in there or because you feel it has a similar
- 28:40Speaker 9: plot device involved? Do you think there really isn't a Yeti?
- 28:46Speaker 14: No, because.
- 28:46Speaker 9: And the girl was all just imagining this in her
- 28:49Speaker 9: delusional little mind.
- 28:54Speaker 8: I was sort of waiting for, who was the guy
- 28:56Speaker 8: from Dallas?
- 28:57Speaker 7: I was waiting for him to wake up in the
- 28:59Speaker 7: shower at the end of this.
- 29:00Speaker 9: Bobby.
- 29:01Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah. Oh, I don't know.
- 29:05Speaker 9: I feel like it's also, I mean, aside from the
- 29:08Speaker 9: giant E.T. ripoff that it is, there's, like, it changes
- 29:12Speaker 9: gears midway in. There's, like, the part in the middle
- 29:15Speaker 9: where it becomes Frosty the Snowman. which is jumping on
- 29:19Speaker 9: the train and taking him back to the North Pole
- 29:22Speaker 9: or wherever it is so he doesn't get too warm.
- 29:25Speaker 9: Is that not exactly just Frosty?
- 29:27Speaker 5: What about the Michael Keaton Jack Frost movie?
- 29:33Speaker 9: Which, of course, we're going to get to at some
- 29:34Speaker 9: point on this show.
- 29:38Speaker 3: I kind of saw some Problem Child in there. with
- 29:41Speaker 3: the kid, Wesley.
- 29:42Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 29:44Speaker 3: And then there was also a smidgen of Home Alone
- 29:47Speaker 3: going on with her little rescue mission.
- 29:52Speaker 8: Well, I sort of feel bad for Wesley because he
- 29:54Speaker 8: basically was the punching dummy of the entire movie.
- 29:59Speaker 9: I do like how much physical violence is just sort
- 30:02Speaker 9: of wailed upon a relatively small child in this film.
- 30:05Speaker 8: Yeah, I think that, you know, child care services would
- 30:08Speaker 8: probably have a problem with this movie.
- 30:10Speaker 9: Although he was toting a shotgun at one point.
- 30:14Speaker 8: Well, his parents shouldn't keep multiple guns in the trunk of.
- 30:17Speaker 7: Every car because hundreds of people hated his dad.
- 30:21Speaker 9: That's a pretty good reason. That's why I have my arsenal.
- 30:23Speaker 9: I mean, hundreds of people hate me for making them
- 30:26Speaker 9: watch this movie. Or at least the roomful we had here.
- 30:30Speaker 8: Well, it's also nice that his son is cognizant of
- 30:34Speaker 8: how much of a bastard his dad is and how
- 30:37Speaker 8: much everyone wants his dad dead.
- 30:39Speaker 9: Didn't fall far from the tree.
- 30:40Speaker 14: I did hear the phrase walk easy for the first
- 30:44Speaker 14: time in my life. I think we should introduce that one.
- 30:49Speaker 9: The lips of meatloaf. Now, I was going with, you
- 30:53Speaker 9: were doing Problem Child. I was thinking, in the first
- 30:56Speaker 9: scene where we get to meet Wesley, like, yes, Very
- 30:59Speaker 9: Veruca Salt. Give it to me. I want it now.
- 31:02Speaker 3: No, I totally saw that, too.
- 31:04Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 31:05Speaker 3: I kind of missed that whole part.
- 31:07Speaker 9: I need an Oompa Loompa.
- 31:08Speaker 3: You had Veruca Salt. You also kind of had Mike TV.
- 31:12Speaker 3: And you also had, what was his name?
- 31:14Speaker 5: Agustuff.
- 31:15Speaker 3: Agustuff, yeah.
- 31:17Speaker 6: You had all of those.
- 31:17Speaker 9: They were all kind of rolled into one.
- 31:19Speaker 7: Right.
- 31:20Speaker 3: So would that make Meatloaf Willy Wonka?
- 31:21Speaker 4: Oh, God.
- 31:23Speaker 9: Or Grandpa?
- 31:25Speaker 11: I don't know.
- 31:29Speaker 9: How about the fine effects we had in this movie?
- 31:31Speaker 7: Well, again, I think the space scenes were incredible. It
- 31:34Speaker 7: is amazing that given.
- 31:37Speaker 8: The budget of the movie that they were able to
- 31:39Speaker 8: pull off easily Star Wars era special effects.
- 31:43Speaker 9: Did I nod off in the middle of it? What
- 31:46Speaker 9: movie were you guys watching?
- 31:47Speaker 19: I mean, the special effects weren't as good as Spider-Man
- 31:49Speaker 19: shooting his web and the electric company thing beforehand.
- 31:52Speaker 5: But they were on par.
- 31:53Speaker 7: They were special. They were just special. Was that.
- 31:57Speaker 9: Not the best thing about The Evening was that short
- 32:00Speaker 9: film we found.
- 32:01Speaker 8: It is sad how much of my childhood came back
- 32:05Speaker 8: and that, especially, you know, oh my God, that's Morgan Freeman.
- 32:10Speaker 9: That's what I'm midway in. I'm like, this is terrible
- 32:13Speaker 9: and awesome and oh my God, is that Morgan Freeman? Yeah,
- 32:20Speaker 9: I can't, like.
- 32:21Speaker 8: So much of my childhood came back when I saw
- 32:24Speaker 8: that because I remember seeing that, you know, as a kid.
- 32:28Speaker 9: But it's just oddly fetishized. There's a whole lot of
- 32:33Speaker 9: weird stuff out there. Thank you, Internet, for exposing us.
- 32:36Speaker 9: But I'm sure sitting on cold things is somebody's thing
- 32:40Speaker 9: out there.
- 32:40Speaker 5: Especially when they disappear.
- 32:41Speaker 9: Maybe a Yeti.
- 32:42Speaker 8: I wonder how much Sesame Street paid Marvel for the
- 32:46Speaker 8: use of one of their prime comic book characters.
- 32:50Speaker 9: I was more like, wondering how much, I mean, there's
- 32:54Speaker 9: no budget to this movie. How much did they blow
- 32:57Speaker 9: on music rights?
- 32:59Speaker 8: Well, I was saying, because it ended with a Carpenter song,
- 33:03Speaker 8: and now I'm going to show my ignorance of classic rock,
- 33:06Speaker 8: but who did Amy?
- 33:07Speaker 9: Is that not like Allman Brothers?
- 33:09Speaker 7: Yeah, I think so.
- 33:11Speaker 8: Do you think that Meatloaf pulled some serious strings to
- 33:15Speaker 8: get the rights to those songs?
- 33:17Speaker 7: Because that probably blew... their whole budget right there.
- 33:22Speaker 9: As we just found out last, you know, last time
- 33:24Speaker 9: we were talking to an independent filmmaker and he wanted
- 33:26Speaker 9: to use an Elton John song and it would have cost,
- 33:29Speaker 9: you know, more than the movie just about. I mean,
- 33:31Speaker 9: that was where all the money went. So it's like,
- 33:34Speaker 9: these were all, cause wasn't there a third one in
- 33:36Speaker 9: there somewhere?
- 33:37Speaker 7: There was one earlier on.
- 33:39Speaker 5: There was an oldie song in there too.
- 33:40Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 33:41Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 33:41Speaker 9: So there, um, yeah.
- 33:43Speaker 7: Like the run around.
- 33:45Speaker 8: Yes.
- 33:46Speaker 5: Nowhere to run to.
- 33:46Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 33:48Speaker 9: So, I mean, there was at least three probably costly...
- 33:52Speaker 9: I don't even know that they were the original versions,
- 33:55Speaker 9: but still, you have to pay the money when you're
- 33:57Speaker 9: using the song, so.
- 33:58Speaker 7: I think they were legit original versions.
- 34:01Speaker 14: Yeah.
- 34:02Speaker 8: Again, I can't think of where they got the money
- 34:05Speaker 8: to do that.
- 34:06Speaker 9: One sounded a little off. Maybe it's just the bad
- 34:09Speaker 9: soundtrack on this.
- 34:10Speaker 14: That was my initial thought when I first heard the
- 34:13Speaker 14: first song. I was like, there's the budget right there.
- 34:15Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 34:16Speaker 14: And they'll be loaf songs.
- 34:18Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 34:19Speaker 9: Well, that's just too easy.
- 34:20Speaker 8: The first one, given it was Odie, I was surprised,
- 34:23Speaker 8: but when they did Amy, I'm like, holy crap, where did.
- 34:28Speaker 7: They score the money?
- 34:29Speaker 9: Yeah, those last two, you'd think that would kill most
- 34:32Speaker 9: movies unless it's a huge studio film.
- 34:35Speaker 8: Was like all the entire Allman Brothers family uses extras
- 34:38Speaker 8: in the movie and they sort of got the song
- 34:40Speaker 8: pro bono?
- 34:42Speaker 9: They're secretly yetis.
- 34:44Speaker 14: Was the creature made up of just scraps of random.
- 34:49Speaker 14: Because it was like an orangutan body.
- 34:52Speaker 9: Was it you that asked me if that was the
- 34:54Speaker 9: leftover puppet from Mac and Me? Yeah.
- 34:57Speaker 14: But the end reminded me of Short Circuit. There was
- 34:59Speaker 14: like this, I don't know. That was one of the
- 35:02Speaker 14: movies I meant to add.
- 35:04Speaker 9: Isn't it like every one of those kids movies? Like
- 35:06Speaker 9: at the end they have to send the animal back
- 35:09Speaker 9: to space or the woods or wherever. Flipper goes to
- 35:13Speaker 9: the ocean or something like that.
- 35:14Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 35:14Speaker 9: They always kind of end like.
- 35:15Speaker 4: That, right? Yeah.
- 35:17Speaker 19: It was kind of like they spent all the budget
- 35:20Speaker 19: on animating the animal's face because none of its movements
- 35:24Speaker 19: were worth anything.
- 35:25Speaker 8: I think they went dumpster diving at Jim Henson's workshop.
- 35:29Speaker 19: Like his face would have had expressions, but his arms
- 35:32Speaker 19: and legs didn't.
- 35:32Speaker 5: Move very good.
- 35:33Speaker 9: Well, and you'd notice, again, this is, I guess to
- 35:36Speaker 9: their credit, somewhat clever editing the fact that they knew
- 35:40Speaker 9: the arms and legs don't move very well, so there's
- 35:42Speaker 9: a lot of close-ups on that puppet. A lot of close-ups.
- 35:47Speaker 14: And we forgot about the sexing scene when she found out.
- 35:51Speaker 9: Exactly.
- 35:52Speaker 7: Again.
- 35:53Speaker 5: I checked.
- 35:54Speaker 9: Now which one were we talking about?
- 35:59Speaker 7: At the beginning. On the kitchen table.
- 36:02Speaker 8: I think the mother referred to it as an it
- 36:04Speaker 8: and the daughter goes, no, it's a he.
- 36:06Speaker 7: I checked.
- 36:08Speaker 9: I think he wiggled his toes after that, too.
- 36:10Speaker 3: He made a suspicious noise right after that, too. It
- 36:12Speaker 3: was like... Oh, she checked.
- 36:15Speaker 6: Thoroughly, apparently.
- 36:16Speaker 8: I sort of felt bad when the daughter was in
- 36:19Speaker 8: the room alone with the creature showing it the stuffed animals.
- 36:22Speaker 7: I thought it might take another dark turn of.
- 36:25Speaker 3: Well, towards the end.
- 36:26Speaker 9: Let me show you something.
- 36:27Speaker 3: Towards the end, he was making some strange movements and
- 36:30Speaker 3: sounds when she was like, what's wrong? And I'm like,
- 36:33Speaker 3: nothing's wrong. He's having a good time by himself, apparently.
- 36:36Speaker 9: Is that a theme? I mean, of the two Yeti movies,
- 36:39Speaker 9: there's now been two of them where we've had sound
- 36:41Speaker 9: effects that kind of sound like there's another kind of
- 36:43Speaker 9: scene going on.
- 36:44Speaker 5: This is my room.
- 36:46Speaker 9: Okay.
- 36:50Speaker 8: Sit here.
- 36:50Speaker 3: Don't move.
- 36:52Speaker 1: Let me take it off you.
- 36:53Speaker 9: It's too hot.
- 36:54Speaker 17: Let me show you my toys. What's the matter, Hank?
- 37:04Speaker 17: Is it the mannequins?
- 37:06Speaker 9: Is it the snow?
- 37:06Speaker 10: Hank?
- 37:08Speaker 11: Or are you gonna be trouble?
- 37:13Speaker 10: Let's get dressed, Hank.
- 37:27Speaker 9: And the Yeti seems a little overly excited about the
- 37:31Speaker 9: female main character.
- 37:33Speaker 3: I think you need to check and see if there's, like,
- 37:34Speaker 3: not rated versions of both of these out, because I
- 37:37Speaker 3: think it's just, like, scenes that are cut out that,
- 37:40Speaker 3: you know, those scenes are leading into, like, other scenes.
- 37:43Speaker 9: So I should find those and, like, link them all
- 37:45Speaker 9: to you is what you're saying.
- 37:47Speaker 4: I'm good.
- 37:47Speaker 11: Thank you.
- 37:48Speaker 9: We all need to finish the movie.
- 37:49Speaker 3: I'm good without them. By the way, that song was
- 37:52Speaker 3: not the Allman Brothers. It was the Pure Prairie League.
- 37:54Speaker 3: There you go.
- 37:57Speaker 18: Really?
- 37:57Speaker 3: Yeah, I googled it.
- 37:59Speaker 9: Interesting.
- 38:01Speaker 7: Or maybe it comes cheaper than the Allman Brothers.
- 38:04Speaker 3: It's spelled A-M-I-E. I don't know if that makes a difference.
- 38:08Speaker 9: I think I knew that part. Obviously, I was off
- 38:11Speaker 9: on the band.
- 38:13Speaker 3: I really like how this Yeti didn't look like Jesus, though.
- 38:17Speaker 9: That was mostly in your head.
- 38:18Speaker 12: No.
- 38:19Speaker 9: You were obsessed with Yeti Jesus last movie.
- 38:21Speaker 3: It kind of looked more like a gremlin.
- 38:24Speaker 9: A little bit, yeah.
- 38:25Speaker 3: Than anything, and I was really worried that she wasn't
- 38:27Speaker 3: supposed to feed him after midnight, but apparently that wasn't
- 38:31Speaker 3: an issue.
- 38:32Speaker 19: It really resembled those critters, also.
- 38:36Speaker 8: What I like how, at least twice in the movie,
- 38:40Speaker 8: they go, that's not a yeti, it's not big enough.
- 38:43Speaker 8: And so there's this whole subplot of this little creature
- 38:47Speaker 8: having gigantic feet, therefore causing cryptozoologists throughout the world.
- 38:53Speaker 7: To be mistaking... The shape of what a Yeti is
- 38:56Speaker 7: because of these huge footprints.
- 38:59Speaker 9: I do have to give them credit. I mean, they
- 39:00Speaker 9: have kind of kicked open a whole new door in
- 39:02Speaker 9: the cryptozoology world.
- 39:04Speaker 8: Which I thought was even more disturbing when she apparently
- 39:06Speaker 8: checked out the Yeti's gender because.
- 39:08Speaker 7: You know what they say.
- 39:10Speaker 9: About big feet. Big foot, big Yeti?
- 39:13Speaker 8: Maybe that's why it was so easy for her to
- 39:16Speaker 8: tell the gender of the Yeti.
- 39:22Speaker 9: Oh, God.
- 39:23Speaker 3: There are cut scenes.
- 39:26Speaker 9: I don't think most children know how to tell the
- 39:28Speaker 9: sex on a Yeti.
- 39:29Speaker 7: So apparently it was very obvious. Because if I, at
- 39:32Speaker 7: the age of 10, would have found a Yeti, it
- 39:34Speaker 7: wouldn't have been my first.
- 39:35Speaker 9: Like, oh, is it a boy?
- 39:36Speaker 6: Is it a girl? I don't know.
- 39:37Speaker 7: That wouldn't have been on my mind.
- 39:39Speaker 9: I still go way back.
- 39:40Speaker 8: If the feet analogy stands, it may have been hard
- 39:45Speaker 8: to miss.
- 39:47Speaker 9: I still go with the Pac-Man rule. Unless they have
- 39:50Speaker 9: a bow, how can it be a girl?
- 39:53Speaker 7: It did not have a bow. Nature fails us yet again.
- 40:00Speaker 9: Nature finds a way.
- 40:01Speaker 5: What was that one real famous low-budget movie? Was it Trolls?
- 40:07Speaker 9: The one with the green stuff? Yeah, because the original Troll... Well, no,
- 40:11Speaker 9: the original Trolls got... They take over that whole apartment.
- 40:14Speaker 8: Yes, but the green one he's talking about that we
- 40:17Speaker 8: watched the movie and documentary about.
- 40:19Speaker 19: It kind of had a little bit of that feel
- 40:21Speaker 19: to it.
- 40:22Speaker 9: I mean, it does seem like haphazardly slapped together. Just
- 40:26Speaker 9: like even where they're at sometimes. Like, was that a
- 40:29Speaker 9: real house? I guess maybe it was, but it looks
- 40:32Speaker 9: so shoddy. I'm like, it kind of looks like a
- 40:34Speaker 9: bad set.
- 40:35Speaker 3: It kind of looks like somebody's house that was like,
- 40:37Speaker 3: they were like, hey, you can use my house. How
- 40:39Speaker 3: about you guys film a movie here? And then my
- 40:41Speaker 3: house will be famous.
- 40:42Speaker 9: Which happens sometimes.
- 40:44Speaker 3: It just looked like one of those prefab deals.
- 40:45Speaker 7: Yeah, I wonder which actor's house that was.
- 40:48Speaker 3: That's what I'm saying, yeah.
- 40:50Speaker 9: Director's cousin.
- 40:52Speaker 7: And I sort of wonder where they got the cop car.
- 40:56Speaker 9: Director's uncle. This is how you make independent films.
- 41:01Speaker 3: They stole it.
- 41:02Speaker 9: Calling in favors.
- 41:03Speaker 7: So you don't think they actually went to New York
- 41:05Speaker 7: to film the New York scenes?
- 41:08Speaker 9: Okay, if this is New York, or Toronto, probably Toronto,
- 41:14Speaker 9: why do they keep setting these things in Toronto?
- 41:16Speaker 8: Well, when I looked it up on IMDb, it did
- 41:19Speaker 8: say it was a Canadian film, and it was a
- 41:20Speaker 8: TV movie.
- 41:21Speaker 9: Yeah, I think it was Canadian, and I'm blaming you.
- 41:24Speaker 9: Though they probably couldn't do anything else with it. I mean,
- 41:26Speaker 9: there was part of it that.
- 41:27Speaker 3: Looked like Grand Central, but it wasn't all of Grand Central.
- 41:32Speaker 7: That was faked.
- 41:34Speaker 8: That was obviously green screen, and they had a couple
- 41:37Speaker 8: people walk in front.
- 41:38Speaker 7: Of them that completely stood out from the scene behind it.
- 41:42Speaker 9: They had green screen.
- 41:44Speaker 7: I think it was downtown Bowling Green, Kentucky.
- 41:47Speaker 9: I think that's.
- 41:48Speaker 7: What it was. Pretty sure.
- 41:50Speaker 9: Bowling Green, Canada. They have one of those, I'm sure.
- 41:53Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 41:56Speaker 9: We're pretty sure it's Canadian. We're blaming Canada like we do.
- 42:01Speaker 9: When I don't blame France, I blame Canada. But no, okay,
- 42:06Speaker 9: if they're in New York, and have some people here
- 42:10Speaker 9: been to New York before? And quite often, do you
- 42:14Speaker 9: kind of like, oh, I lose sight of somebody. Oh, wait,
- 42:16Speaker 9: they're over there. I mean, in searching for someone in
- 42:19Speaker 9: an entire city, how often did they go, oh, wait,
- 42:21Speaker 9: there they are? Or Meatloaf would just come around a
- 42:23Speaker 9: corner and grab her out of, like, the entire city
- 42:26Speaker 9: of people he could have been looking for.
- 42:27Speaker 3: Well, I mean, that happens in Home Alone 2.
- 42:29Speaker 6: Lost in New York.
- 42:30Speaker 3: Well, actually, yeah, Home Alone 2, exactly. I meant also,
- 42:34Speaker 3: but that works.
- 42:35Speaker 14: In addition to.
- 42:35Speaker 3: In addition, as well as.
- 42:38Speaker 4: But.
- 42:39Speaker 3: Yeah, no, I've been with people in New York City
- 42:42Speaker 3: and lost them, you know, and not found them until
- 42:45Speaker 3: like a week later when we reconvened where we came from. So, right,
- 42:50Speaker 3: face down, bleeding.
- 42:52Speaker 5: It was all the little girl's fault because she kept
- 42:54Speaker 5: going south. So Meatloaf always knew where she was.
- 42:57Speaker 9: Well, and I'm like, don't you want to go north?
- 42:59Speaker 9: Isn't that the objective? Just basically, that's the whole idea.
- 43:04Speaker 5: And you know what's south, right? The train station.
- 43:07Speaker 9: Is this code again? Wait a minute. And you know
- 43:12Speaker 9: what's south? Those big feet at the end.
- 43:15Speaker 5: I thought that's where you were going.
- 43:18Speaker 8: Oh, man. Well, it's nice to know that the Yeti
- 43:22Speaker 8: wasn't just some strange genetic offshoot, a one-off of nature,
- 43:28Speaker 8: that there is a whole family of them living in
- 43:32Speaker 8: the himalayas.
- 43:33Speaker 9: Speaking of which how did we not get to harry
- 43:36Speaker 9: and the hendersons because it's exactly harry and the hendersons.
- 43:43Speaker 8: When i'm like the the beginning song that was talking
- 43:46Speaker 8: about hunting bigfoot and i'm like are we watching a
- 43:50Speaker 8: yeti movie or are we.
- 43:51Speaker 7: Watching a sasquatch movie because the the song's talking about.
- 43:57Speaker 9: Greg and I got into that argument online the other
- 44:00Speaker 9: day because he kept trying to say that they were
- 44:03Speaker 9: the same thing, and I'm of the opinion there's a
- 44:05Speaker 9: split there. You know, you've got the wintery ones and
- 44:08Speaker 9: the summer ones. I go by the fur, but, I mean,
- 44:12Speaker 9: they screw that up all the time because last time,
- 44:16Speaker 9: the movie, they pull him out of the Himalayas, but
- 44:18Speaker 9: he's got brown fur, and according to you, he looks
- 44:20Speaker 9: like Jesus, so. Again, they get it wrong in the
- 44:23Speaker 9: movies all the time, but I'm going by this classic
- 44:26Speaker 9: artwork we have for Movie Meltdown, where he's white and
- 44:29Speaker 9: he's Yeti.
- 44:29Speaker 5: Well, we saw it, because it was actually here.
- 44:33Speaker 9: That's true. We did have a live Yeti. Many of
- 44:36Speaker 9: us posed with it. Check your Facebooks.
- 44:39Speaker 8: Now, at any point, did the $ 6 million man ever
- 44:42Speaker 8: fight a Yeti, or was that just a Bigfoot?
- 44:44Speaker 5: Just a Bigfoot.
- 44:45Speaker 7: That was actually a robot.
- 44:47Speaker 9: Spoiler alert!
- 44:48Speaker 7: Built by the Atlanteans.
- 44:49Speaker 8: Yes, for those of you who are unfamiliar with a
- 44:52Speaker 8: probably near 30-year-old TV show, spoiler alert, Bigfoot was a
- 44:59Speaker 8: robot built by Atlanteans.
- 45:01Speaker 9: Let me interject with.
- 45:02Speaker 5: It was also a cool toy.
- 45:07Speaker 9: An awesome toy. This Yeti's chest did not pop off
- 45:10Speaker 9: at all. There were no robotics inside.
- 45:13Speaker 2: I was sad.
- 45:15Speaker 19: I can't say that I wasn't anticipating that a mama
- 45:18Speaker 19: yeti was going to show up and school the bad guys.
- 45:21Speaker 5: That was actually like a monster.
- 45:23Speaker 4: Explorers.
- 45:25Speaker 19: And I also kept waiting for Henry Rollins to make
- 45:28Speaker 19: like a cameo.
- 45:29Speaker 5: Because it seems like a bad movie he would be.
- 45:33Speaker 9: The chase. All right.
- 45:35Speaker 7: I don't think it stops there.
- 45:38Speaker 9: No, he's only made one bad move.
- 45:40Speaker 23: I don't know.
- 45:41Speaker 9: Josh, what is your take on it?
- 45:42Speaker 14: My take? Well, actually, I did have this feeling that
- 45:44Speaker 14: there was going to be a moment where it turned
- 45:46Speaker 14: into this bigger creature, like if water hit it or
- 45:49Speaker 14: something like gremlins. I really, like, and just, like, maul everyone,
- 45:53Speaker 14: but that would have actually... tied it together quite well.
- 45:56Speaker 8: So, like, he would grow, his feet would stay the same,
- 45:59Speaker 8: and he'd grow into the creature that was proportional to
- 46:01Speaker 8: his feet.
- 46:02Speaker 5: I can't expect that.
- 46:03Speaker 14: You would catch up with his feet.
- 46:05Speaker 8: That would actually probably have made a much better movie.
- 46:08Speaker 6: It would have.
- 46:08Speaker 7: However, they wouldn't have been able to afford.
- 46:10Speaker 8: The songs that they used because that would have completely
- 46:13Speaker 8: blown the special effects budget.
- 46:16Speaker 9: Life-size Yeti suits are hard to come by.
- 46:19Speaker 19: I don't know why they didn't, like, put him on
- 46:21Speaker 19: the American team for the Olympics, because he was quite
- 46:23Speaker 19: the skier.
- 46:24Speaker 5: He could ski uphill.
- 46:26Speaker 9: That's my favorite thing, is how they, like, the special
- 46:30Speaker 9: effects on this Yeti would sort of jump around as
- 46:33Speaker 9: to what they could afford to do. And I understand that.
- 46:36Speaker 9: I may have a house full of puppets myself. And
- 46:38Speaker 9: when I'm trying to film them, I'm like... It's funny how, like,
- 46:42Speaker 9: for a minute, they were... What was that thing when
- 46:44Speaker 9: he was, like, jumping on the bed or whatever?
- 46:46Speaker 11: Like, I.
- 46:47Speaker 9: I'm not even sure what was going on there. It
- 46:49Speaker 9: was wrong. It was disturbing a little bit.
- 46:52Speaker 7: I think that was part of his mating ritual.
- 46:54Speaker 8: And the girl was completely unaware of what was going on.
- 46:59Speaker 9: And again, we go back to creepy. I was just
- 47:01Speaker 9: talking about the effect that they were using. I'm not
- 47:03Speaker 9: really sure what that was exactly. Like ghetto stop motion
- 47:07Speaker 9: or some sort of computer-generated thing. I don't know what
- 47:11Speaker 9: it was exactly, but it was a little disturbing. But
- 47:15Speaker 9: then it would also, like, switch to, like, it's obviously, like,
- 47:19Speaker 9: being puppeted at some points. It's very mechanical in the face.
- 47:23Speaker 9: And then other times it would just, when he, like,
- 47:26Speaker 9: is on the skateboard and flops off like a puppet.
- 47:29Speaker 9: It's the funniest thing in that movie. I'm sorry. The whole,
- 47:35Speaker 9: I mean, how many times does he do the, I mean,
- 47:37Speaker 9: we've got him skiing and sledding and then the skateboard
- 47:40Speaker 9: scene through the city. And how do you top that
- 47:42Speaker 9: skateboard scene?
- 47:44Speaker 19: Well, I must also say that Meatloaf as an intimidating
- 47:46Speaker 19: character was awesome because, I mean, I would be scared.
- 47:50Speaker 5: The way he would walk out in traffic and just, like,
- 47:52Speaker 5: cars would stop. I was pretty impressed.
- 47:54Speaker 7: I mean, that.
- 47:55Speaker 8: Or he'd throw his partner down in the middle of
- 47:57Speaker 8: the street in order to stop traffic.
- 47:59Speaker 9: In a better movie, that could actually be pretty entertaining, and, like,
- 48:03Speaker 9: that could be turned into, like, an actual character thing,
- 48:06Speaker 9: and they really just kind of touch on it here
- 48:07Speaker 9: and there, and he always just kind of is grumpy, and,
- 48:10Speaker 9: you know, I guess that makes him a badass, huh?
- 48:13Speaker 7: Nobody wants to run over Meatloaf, too.
- 48:14Speaker 10: That's messy.
- 48:15Speaker 7: You don't want to do that. You don't want to
- 48:17Speaker 7: run over Meatloaf.
- 48:20Speaker 8: Wesley probably had one of the best lines in the
- 48:22Speaker 8: movie that actually was a genuine laugh to me. When
- 48:25Speaker 8: Meatloaf goes, I didn't come here to get insulted by you.
- 48:29Speaker 7: And Wesley goes, well, where do you go?
- 48:34Speaker 8: That was a genuinely funny joke.
- 48:38Speaker 9: I did actually laugh at that. Again, I think I
- 48:41Speaker 9: was like, I sat there going, that might be the
- 48:43Speaker 9: only funny piece in this entire thing of a lot
- 48:46Speaker 9: of terrible dialogue. That was a good joke.
- 48:49Speaker 8: I mean, it's sort of like, wow, way to school
- 48:53Speaker 8: me up there, Wesley.
- 48:55Speaker 3: But the thing is, it was kind of like, it
- 48:59Speaker 3: was delivered in such a way where you almost didn't
- 49:01Speaker 3: catch it.
- 49:02Speaker 7: You know?
- 49:03Speaker 9: The timing was off is the problem.
- 49:04Speaker 3: When you're watching the movie, like, if you're not paying attention,
- 49:07Speaker 3: you almost didn't catch it. But I was like, dang. Like,
- 49:10Speaker 3: that was a really funny line.
- 49:11Speaker 9: It would have been good.
- 49:12Speaker 3: But the camera was totally focused on something else. Whatever
- 49:16Speaker 3: was going on.
- 49:16Speaker 7: At the time.
- 49:16Speaker 9: It switches to, like, a weird wide shot. Right.
- 49:19Speaker 6: And not, like.
- 49:20Speaker 9: should have been a back and forth. Again, if we're
- 49:22Speaker 9: trying to figure out where they steal it from. You
- 49:24Speaker 9: would think it would be very Pee-Wee's Big Adventure. Doesn't
- 49:27Speaker 9: it feel like something during the Pee-Wee back and forth?
- 49:29Speaker 3: I know you are, but what am I?
- 49:30Speaker 9: Yeah, it seems like... Well, I mean, he throws those
- 49:33Speaker 9: lines out. Shouldn't it have been like you cut to
- 49:35Speaker 9: a big close-up as he gets in his face?
- 49:36Speaker 7: Where do you usually go?
- 49:38Speaker 9: Like, that's the joke. That's the timing on that joke.
- 49:41Speaker 8: Well, and I think that apparently the writers didn't realize
- 49:45Speaker 8: the gold that they had written right there.
- 49:48Speaker 9: The one time.
- 49:50Speaker 7: That the one time that they.
- 49:52Speaker 8: Well, it's a million monkeys typing on typewriters. I mean,
- 49:56Speaker 8: they stumbled upon this comedy gold but didn't realize that.
- 50:00Speaker 7: It was gold.
- 50:01Speaker 9: Shakespearean gold.
- 50:02Speaker 7: They thought that the joke was somewhere else in that scene.
- 50:06Speaker 9: They're like, look at that stuff on the counter over there.
- 50:08Speaker 14: That's hilarious.
- 50:10Speaker 9: You missed your one joke.
- 50:12Speaker 5: Now, my question is, do they have, like, an expert.
- 50:16Speaker 19: on, like, 80s style come in and make that 80s style?
- 50:19Speaker 5: Or did they just find a group of people that
- 50:21Speaker 5: were stuck in the 80s in 1995? Because that was
- 50:24Speaker 5: one sweet mullet.
- 50:25Speaker 9: It's called Canada.
- 50:29Speaker 14: The main guy, I thought it was Peter Bogdanovich with
- 50:30Speaker 14: a mullet. Like, who is that actor anyway?
- 50:32Speaker 9: I mean, he... Meatloaf was it, really.
- 50:35Speaker 14: And also, there were more Ford Tempos per... They had
- 50:39Speaker 14: more screen time than any other car in that movie.
- 50:42Speaker 9: Sponsored by Ford. And possibly Pepsi, based on the inside
- 50:45Speaker 9: of the River Tree. It was dated. Those were old
- 50:49Speaker 9: Pepsi cans. Those were really old Pepsi cans.
- 50:53Speaker 3: Who was that kid? I know I've seen him in something.
- 50:56Speaker 9: This involves someone looking things up. You know we're not
- 50:59Speaker 9: supposed to do that.
- 51:01Speaker 7: Holy crap.
- 51:04Speaker 9: This just in.
- 51:05Speaker 7: Mean Girls. Billy Madison.
- 51:09Speaker 3: Yep, Billy Madison. That's where I remember him from.
- 51:11Speaker 9: Which one?
- 51:12Speaker 23: The kid.
- 51:13Speaker 7: Wesley.
- 51:14Speaker 10: Oh, no.
- 51:15Speaker 7: The kid with the sole good line in the entire movie.
- 51:18Speaker 9: Shut up, Wesley.
- 51:20Speaker 8: Now, unfortunately, I mean, so the kid's filmography shows up
- 51:25Speaker 8: as Mean Girls, Billy Madison, and To Catch a Yeti.
- 51:28Speaker 7: So two out of three ain't bad.
- 51:33Speaker 9: Damn it. How many are we going to work in?
- 51:36Speaker 4: Oh.
- 51:38Speaker 9: This is a dead ringer for an episode.
- 51:40Speaker 7: Thank you, good night. Don't forget to tip your waiters
- 51:43Speaker 7: and waitresses.
- 51:44Speaker 9: You think that was the one good line, you're in trouble. Well,
- 51:50Speaker 9: while we're making fun of Meatloaf, having Meatloaf, of all people,
- 51:55Speaker 9: make fun of someone else's weight problem seems really.
- 52:00Speaker 12: I don't know.
- 52:00Speaker 9: I had problems with that. I'm just like, really? You're
- 52:02Speaker 9: going to make fun of this guy? What are you
- 52:05Speaker 9: known for?
- 52:05Speaker 3: I mean, the guy was probably already like, and I'm not,
- 52:08Speaker 3: he was like a certified little person. And then they're
- 52:11Speaker 3: just going to make fun of him for being fat?
- 52:14Speaker 5: The funny thing was, I don't think he was really fat.
- 52:16Speaker 10: He was fat, yeah.
- 52:16Speaker 5: He had a pillow.
- 52:18Speaker 9: He was a bad Santa Claus belly.
- 52:19Speaker 5: Yeah, he had an outfit on. He wasn't even fat.
- 52:21Speaker 3: He was probably a pregnant prosthetic.
- 52:24Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, you could see the corners of it
- 52:27Speaker 5: in his pants. It was funny. He just had a big,
- 52:28Speaker 5: big belly.
- 52:29Speaker 8: Yeah, and what about the awesome getting ready, gearing up
- 52:32Speaker 8: montage at the beginning of the movie?
- 52:34Speaker 7: I completely forgot about that, you know? See, the gloves
- 52:38Speaker 7: go on.
- 52:38Speaker 8: Shh, shh, shh.
- 52:42Speaker 4: Wow.
- 52:44Speaker 9: But, yeah, I mean, they're, I guess, trying to be, like,
- 52:47Speaker 9: really classy and not make fun of the most obvious thing,
- 52:50Speaker 9: that he's not a very tall man, but, no, let's
- 52:53Speaker 9: give him something to make fun of and then have
- 52:56Speaker 9: Meatloaf make fun of him.
- 52:58Speaker 19: Speaking of Meatloaf, when Eddie says he didn't like the Yeti,
- 53:01Speaker 19: he knew he was an okay kid.
- 53:06Speaker 5: I know you get that.
- 53:08Speaker 9: And I'm the only.
- 53:13Speaker 9: I'm sure somebody out there got it. Lord help us.
- 53:19Speaker 9: All right, what have we learned from this film?
- 53:23Speaker 7: Oh, I know.
- 53:24Speaker 1: We learned that yetis don't know how to wave goodbye
- 53:27Speaker 1: because they're not human. Unless you touch them on an
- 53:30Speaker 1: emotional level and then somehow they understand.
- 53:33Speaker 5: Wait, emotional level?
- 53:34Speaker 9: Yeah. How did she touch.
- 53:38Speaker 10: Him?
- 53:39Speaker 5: Was I the only one that got it?
- 53:41Speaker 9: I thought that's where you're going with it, unless you
- 53:43Speaker 9: touch him. And then he learns all kinds of human behavior.
- 53:46Speaker 7: That's in the edited scenes that we didn't get to see.
- 53:50Speaker 7: Damn it!
- 53:51Speaker 9: Jeff's hoarding at his house.
- 53:54Speaker 8: Jeff has the cupcakes. I will be googling deleted scenes
- 53:59Speaker 8: from To Catch a Yeti later on tonight.
- 54:02Speaker 9: You and everyone listening to this podcast.
- 54:05Speaker 19: Well, I thought it was going to be, like, a
- 54:06Speaker 19: lighthearted thing, but I didn't realize it could be, like,
- 54:08Speaker 19: such emotional scenes.
- 54:10Speaker 5: Like, I felt myself on the verge of crying.
- 54:14Speaker 6: Quite a few times.
- 54:14Speaker 7: Were you taken on an emotional rollercoaster ride by this film?
- 54:20Speaker 9: Mm-hmm.
- 54:22Speaker 7: What'd you say? Was it tour de force?
- 54:23Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 54:24Speaker 7: Of emotions?
- 54:25Speaker 4: No.
- 54:25Speaker 7: No?
- 54:25Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 54:29Speaker 19: I mean.
- 54:30Speaker 7: You look like you're tearing up now just thinking about.
- 54:31Speaker 8: It, though.
- 54:32Speaker 19: It's rough.
- 54:33Speaker 9: I mean.
- 54:34Speaker 5: He was getting too warm. The girls were getting too cold.
- 54:39Speaker 9: There was a.
- 54:39Speaker 5: Lot of problems with the atmosphere.
- 54:42Speaker 9: Frosty.
- 54:43Speaker 8: I'd say the thing I really missed was when they
- 54:47Speaker 8: didn't do a little travel overlay when they went from
- 54:51Speaker 8: Nepal to New York or New York to Nepal to work.
- 54:54Speaker 7: You see the map and you see the red line with.
- 54:57Speaker 8: The plane going across it and maybe.
- 55:01Speaker 9: I can't afford that music.
- 55:02Speaker 7: That would have helped me understand.
- 55:04Speaker 1: There could have been a nice montage too at the
- 55:06Speaker 1: end of all the memories they had together.
- 55:08Speaker 9: That's what I was thinking. We needed a montage song.
- 55:11Speaker 7: And Hank together. This girl is carrying around a Yeti throughout.
- 55:16Speaker 8: I don't know, half the continental United States and there's
- 55:18Speaker 8: no picture evidence.
- 55:20Speaker 7: No one bothers to take a picture of her.
- 55:23Speaker 9: Not everybody had the cell phone.
- 55:25Speaker 8: Well, but they had Polaroids or anything back then.
- 55:30Speaker 19: One of my favorite scenes was that the airport security
- 55:33Speaker 19: all had guns and one of them had an Uzi.
- 55:38Speaker 9: That really makes it feel like it's the 80s, doesn't it?
- 55:40Speaker 9: Because everybody had an Uzi in the 80s. They just
- 55:42Speaker 9: handed them out.
- 55:43Speaker 5: I never got one.
- 55:46Speaker 9: You've got it at home don't.
- 55:47Speaker 8: Lie but one i like how they they had no
- 55:50Speaker 8: plan on getting the yeti through security like like you
- 55:53Speaker 8: just walk through an entire airport it was.
- 55:56Speaker 7: Pre-9-11 you could do whatever you wanted i.
- 55:58Speaker 9: Mean that was again one of the bigger laps was
- 56:01Speaker 9: he's like oh how are we gonna get it past
- 56:04Speaker 9: security like they're in line waiting to go through the
- 56:07Speaker 9: x-ray machine and wait a minute, security on an airplane.
- 56:12Speaker 7: Huh.
- 56:13Speaker 9: Like it just occurred to him.
- 56:14Speaker 8: Although it was sort of a genius idea to, I guess,
- 56:16Speaker 8: have her pretend to be her stuffed animal.
- 56:19Speaker 9: It's not like E.T.
- 56:19Speaker 4: At all.
- 56:22Speaker 9: But, again, I like that it's this giant. What kind
- 56:26Speaker 9: of kid drags that on an airplane? It's a weird
- 56:29Speaker 9: stuffed animal. She should have. If it were a little later,
- 56:31Speaker 9: it would have been one of those fancy backpacks that
- 56:33Speaker 9: looks like an animal.
- 56:34Speaker 2: She should have.
- 56:34Speaker 5: Thrown it over his back. You want one of those now,
- 56:39Speaker 5: don't you?
- 56:40Speaker 9: A Yeti backpack. It's going to sweep the nation.
- 56:42Speaker 3: It could have been a Popple, had it been a
- 56:44Speaker 3: few years earlier.
- 56:44Speaker 5: I don't think the feet would have been the overdrive part.
- 56:53Speaker 9: I'm trying to take that somewhere now, and I don't
- 56:55Speaker 9: want to.
- 56:56Speaker 8: Well, and then wouldn't, I mean, having grown up in
- 57:01Speaker 8: the city, I'm not familiar with what does a Yeti
- 57:05Speaker 8: smell like? I mean, could you really carry a Yeti
- 57:11Speaker 8: onto a plane and not have everyone complain?
- 57:13Speaker 7: Especially with the giant feet.
- 57:15Speaker 8: I mean.
- 57:16Speaker 9: She did hose him down a day or so earlier.
- 57:18Speaker 5: He did eat a lot of pine cones.
- 57:22Speaker 7: What was the thing with the pine cones? I mean,
- 57:24Speaker 7: it showed up in their board game. Were they playing Life?
- 57:28Speaker 7: Was that the board game that it looked like they
- 57:30Speaker 7: were playing?
- 57:31Speaker 9: I thought Monopoly had the different pieces. I'm the dog,
- 57:33Speaker 9: I'm the pine cone.
- 57:34Speaker 7: Monopoly had the big... The big central spinny thing on
- 57:36Speaker 7: the board, which is life. That is life, yes.
- 57:40Speaker 8: So were they using pine cones for money? And then
- 57:44Speaker 8: what was the deal with at the end he gives
- 57:47Speaker 8: the dad a pine cone?
- 57:49Speaker 3: Well, that's what he was eating when Meatloaf found him.
- 57:51Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 57:54Speaker 3: Oh, he was eating pine cones.
- 57:55Speaker 5: That's what the pine cones were about.
- 57:57Speaker 9: It's a touching moment.
- 57:58Speaker 7: See, I imagined that the Yeti was eating an animal there.
- 58:02Speaker 5: No, no, it was pine cones.
- 58:03Speaker 3: It was pine cones, because remember, he was a vegetarian.
- 58:05Speaker 5: That was his thing.
- 58:06Speaker 3: It was a vegetarian Yeti. That was another very important
- 58:09Speaker 3: line in the movie.
- 58:11Speaker 21: Right.
- 58:13Speaker 8: I figured the Yeti had just, like, slaughtered a deer
- 58:16Speaker 8: or something, and it was sitting there eating it when
- 58:18Speaker 8: they came upon it in the wooderness at.
- 58:19Speaker 7: The very beginning.
- 58:20Speaker 9: He did take it a little dark right from the beginning.
- 58:22Speaker 8: Or maybe I just hoped that maybe he'd killed a
- 58:26Speaker 8: local Sherpa or something, you know?
- 58:28Speaker 9: Chupacabra? Do we have cryptids crossover? Oh, we need to
- 58:32Speaker 9: do that at some point.
- 58:33Speaker 14: Also, for such a long movie, it jumped right in.
- 58:36Speaker 14: There was no buildup or tension. All of a sudden,
- 58:38Speaker 14: it's like, here's the thing.
- 58:39Speaker 9: Here's the hunter.
- 58:40Speaker 5: Within two minutes.
- 58:43Speaker 14: I thought it was going to be like a 50-minute movie.
- 58:46Speaker 9: You did get that song that explained, you know, I mean,
- 58:49Speaker 9: that whole montage at the beginning really filled us in.
- 58:53Speaker 8: Yeah, they definitely didn't keep the look of the creature
- 58:55Speaker 8: until like the last, you know, the second half of
- 58:58Speaker 8: the movie.
- 58:59Speaker 7: It's like, boom, here you go.
- 59:01Speaker 9: They forgot to steal that from E.T. Because you go
- 59:04Speaker 9: a good ways in before you actually see him. But no,
- 59:06Speaker 9: not in yeti i really.
- 59:07Speaker 3: Enjoyed the opening scenes or how they use the screen
- 59:13Speaker 3: tests as like the whole opening montage i mean that's
- 59:18Speaker 3: exactly what it was because you could see the background
- 59:20Speaker 3: behind the little person as he's like getting dressed the
- 59:24Speaker 3: certified little person as he's like with the pillow in
- 59:27Speaker 3: his pants and he's like getting dressed There's, like, a
- 59:30Speaker 3: background that they used to use at Olin Mills. And,
- 59:34Speaker 3: you know, it was a total screen test, like, the
- 59:36Speaker 3: whole time. And then they were just like, I think
- 59:38Speaker 3: we're going to put this in the movie. We'll just
- 59:40Speaker 3: save some money and not have to shoot that again.
- 59:42Speaker 9: It came to the end, and they were like, we
- 59:44Speaker 9: still don't have an intro. You, make up a song
- 59:48Speaker 9: right now. Right now. And then what do we got
- 59:51Speaker 9: laying around from those test footage?
- 59:53Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 59:53Speaker 14: And also, Grease looks a lot like Kentucky.
- 59:57Speaker 9: Yeah. They had to be in Greece. They had silly straws.
- 1:00:03Speaker 14: They were living high.
- 1:00:05Speaker 8: Pineapples aren't an indigenous fruit to Greece.
- 1:00:13Speaker 14: That's actually what gave it away. No, the pineapple's actually
- 1:00:17Speaker 14: what gave it away. It would have been great if
- 1:00:24Speaker 14: Conrad Baines had been the butler.
- 1:00:27Speaker 9: You were obsessed with Conrad Baines. I'm not sure why either.
- 1:00:31Speaker 9: It's very odd. Were you touched by Conrad Baines at
- 1:00:35Speaker 9: some point? Is there something you want to share with
- 1:00:37Speaker 9: the group?
- 1:00:38Speaker 14: Not really.
- 1:00:42Speaker 9: I do like when you mentioned the airport scene. I
- 1:00:45Speaker 9: do like that this obviously was very pre-9-11 since they
- 1:00:49Speaker 9: just go toting in guns. I know he didn't get
- 1:00:52Speaker 9: to the metal detector, but I'm pretty sure by now
- 1:00:54Speaker 9: you wouldn't even make it to the parking lot with
- 1:00:56Speaker 9: a shotgun strapped to your side of you.
- 1:00:59Speaker 14: Oh, and also, flying back from Tibet to New York
- 1:01:02Speaker 14: in a Cessna I don't think would happen. Because they
- 1:01:06Speaker 14: took off, and where did they take off from? Their
- 1:01:08Speaker 14: little plane.
- 1:01:09Speaker 9: On the side of that mountain there. That's all they need, right?
- 1:01:12Speaker 8: And wouldn't a guy dressed in animal furs sort of,
- 1:01:17Speaker 8: even at that time, kick off maybe an extra security check?
- 1:01:23Speaker 9: Profiling, is that what you're saying?
- 1:01:24Speaker 7: Exactly, you know, I mean.
- 1:01:26Speaker 9: Security is biased to portly white dudes.
- 1:01:30Speaker 8: I mean, I know that the mountain man is an
- 1:01:33Speaker 8: American symbol, but I don't think that gets you just
- 1:01:35Speaker 8: a free pass through airport security.
- 1:01:37Speaker 9: 95.
- 1:01:40Speaker 14: How many animals made up that code? I think it
- 1:01:41Speaker 14: was actually just a bunch of rabbit's feet that they
- 1:01:43Speaker 14: took apart.
- 1:01:45Speaker 9: It was all the animals.
- 1:01:50Speaker 3: I think it looks like they raided a craft store
- 1:01:52Speaker 3: and just bought all the faux animal fur. And just, like,
- 1:01:55Speaker 3: kind of pieced it together. Like, got a coat and
- 1:01:57Speaker 3: just kind of, like, crazy glued it on there. And
- 1:01:59Speaker 3: they were just like, that'll work. That looks like a
- 1:02:01Speaker 3: bunch of hides.
- 1:02:03Speaker 9: Quick trip to Michael's and they were all set.
- 1:02:09Speaker 3: Yeah, the wardrobing was amazing.
- 1:02:11Speaker 7: Do you think they just glued it on the meatloaf?
- 1:02:14Speaker 8: He just shows up and they just start gluing it
- 1:02:17Speaker 8: on the meatloaf.
- 1:02:18Speaker 9: He didn't go on tour until, like, 97 because he
- 1:02:20Speaker 9: had to wait for most of that to fall off
- 1:02:22Speaker 9: of him. I can't go on tour now.
- 1:02:27Speaker 8: Now, I don't... Where was... So, this was 95. When
- 1:02:32Speaker 8: was his... Come back. Yes, when was that album?
- 1:02:37Speaker 7: I'm curious.
- 1:02:38Speaker 14: To the Googles!
- 1:02:39Speaker 5: Oh, the blue one?
- 1:02:40Speaker 9: Anything But Love 2.
- 1:02:41Speaker 7: Well, that was in high school, so that was like 92.
- 1:02:45Speaker 8: Okay, so after the success of that movie.
- 1:02:48Speaker 7: That parlayed his fine film. Is Meatloaf Canadian? I think so.
- 1:02:54Speaker 9: I think he's American.
- 1:02:55Speaker 8: So there was no, like, national pride in doing this
- 1:02:58Speaker 8: Canadian-made movie?
- 1:02:59Speaker 7: Like, no one could twist his arm and say... I
- 1:03:02Speaker 7: think he lost a bet.
- 1:03:03Speaker 9: I was just thinking, he owed somebody a lot of money,
- 1:03:07Speaker 9: and they're like, you're going to work it off, Meatloaf.
- 1:03:09Speaker 9: I'm making a Yeti movie. I was just like, damn it.
- 1:03:12Speaker 7: Or was this one of those things, like, you know how.
- 1:03:15Speaker 8: Once famous actors start doing kids' movies because they have
- 1:03:18Speaker 8: kids and they sort of want to be... Like, Eddie
- 1:03:20Speaker 8: Murphy does all those crappy kid movies because.
- 1:03:23Speaker 3: So you're saying that Meatloaf had a Yeti and he
- 1:03:25Speaker 3: really wanted to make a movie that would reach his
- 1:03:28Speaker 3: pet Yeti?
- 1:03:30Speaker 8: I was just thinking regular kids, but if you want
- 1:03:33Speaker 8: to think that.
- 1:03:34Speaker 9: I mean, he is Meatloaf. He might have had a Yeti.
- 1:03:38Speaker 7: Yeah. Maybe. That sounds as sane of an answer as
- 1:03:43Speaker 7: anything with this movie.
- 1:03:45Speaker 14: But he used his real name in Fight Club, so
- 1:03:47Speaker 14: maybe this... was like, he's not going to use Meatloaf.
- 1:03:50Speaker 14: Maybe this was like the nail right here. He doesn't
- 1:03:52Speaker 14: go by Meatloaf.
- 1:03:53Speaker 7: Anymore after How to Catch a Yeti.
- 1:03:54Speaker 8: He's like, I can't because I've done The Catch a Yeti,
- 1:03:56Speaker 8: and I can't top that, so I need to take
- 1:03:59Speaker 8: on another persona and build up my career from scratch.
- 1:04:02Speaker 14: It was like his middle nickname and whatever, his full name,
- 1:04:06Speaker 14: and it was Meatloaf in the middle. Wait, that didn't
- 1:04:09Speaker 14: sound right. You know what I mean.
- 1:04:15Speaker 9: Neither of those movies live up to Spice World.
- 1:04:16Speaker 14: Certified Meatloaf.
- 1:04:20Speaker 7: There is some story about behind his nickname, isn't there?
- 1:04:25Speaker 5: Surely there has to be.
- 1:04:26Speaker 9: There has to be.
- 1:04:27Speaker 7: I mean, it's not like he just picked it out
- 1:04:29Speaker 7: of the various... I'm going.
- 1:04:31Speaker 5: To guess it has something to do with his weight.
- 1:04:33Speaker 5: It almost had to. I mean, seriously.
- 1:04:36Speaker 9: I can blame Jim Stein.
- 1:04:37Speaker 5: I mean, if you saw him back in the music days,
- 1:04:40Speaker 5: he was real heavy.
- 1:04:41Speaker 9: Yeah, that first video, he was big.
- 1:04:43Speaker 2: Or like in the roadie.
- 1:04:43Speaker 11: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:04:48Speaker 8: Again, one of the greatest all-time meatloaf-based movies you could
- 1:04:51Speaker 8: ever see.
- 1:04:54Speaker 9: That's a long list, buddy. I think they made the
- 1:05:00Speaker 9: right call, though. I mean, the rest of the audience
- 1:05:02Speaker 9: has wandered off. But, you know, I think we definitely
- 1:05:06Speaker 9: lived up to the epically bad... threat that i put
- 1:05:11Speaker 9: out there when we were uh marketing this thing so
- 1:05:13Speaker 9: how long was.
- 1:05:13Speaker 7: That was that about two hours.
- 1:05:15Speaker 9: It actually wasn't it just felt like i mean the
- 1:05:18Speaker 9: whole thing even with the intro wasn't even an hour
- 1:05:21Speaker 9: 40 so do you think.
- 1:05:22Speaker 8: When it was broadcast on tv with commercials they broke
- 1:05:25Speaker 8: it into like a two-night event or was this or
- 1:05:27Speaker 8: was this a.
- 1:05:28Speaker 9: One-night meatloaf mini-series yeah like.
- 1:05:31Speaker 8: Did they like catch the the thrilling part one of
- 1:05:34Speaker 8: to catch a yeti on monday night With exciting conclusion
- 1:05:38Speaker 8: next week.
- 1:05:38Speaker 3: And part two is when the mother became more British
- 1:05:41Speaker 3: all of a sudden.
- 1:05:41Speaker 9: What was that?
- 1:05:43Speaker 14: Like, did she?
- 1:05:45Speaker 8: And what was with the girl at the sporting goods store?
- 1:05:50Speaker 7: What accent was that? It was French, man.
- 1:05:54Speaker 3: French Canadian is my guess.
- 1:05:56Speaker 9: It didn't matter because she was under the meatloaf spell.
- 1:05:59Speaker 8: It's like they just, was the casting call to try
- 1:06:02Speaker 8: to get as many people with differing accents in this movie?
- 1:06:06Speaker 8: Was there some kind of accent mingo card that they
- 1:06:09Speaker 8: were playing with as they cast this movie?
- 1:06:13Speaker 9: Bingo!
- 1:06:14Speaker 7: We got the French girl as the.
- 1:06:17Speaker 5: They did that just like any period movie. Nobody speaks English,
- 1:06:21Speaker 5: like American English.
- 1:06:23Speaker 19: It's all like, you got all your little knights and stuff,
- 1:06:26Speaker 19: and one of them has an Australian accent, one of
- 1:06:28Speaker 19: them has an English accent.
- 1:06:30Speaker 9: Or the movie's set in India, and everyone speaks with
- 1:06:32Speaker 9: a British accent.
- 1:06:33Speaker 11: Exactly.
- 1:06:34Speaker 9: That makes it a classy film.
- 1:06:36Speaker 3: Can we bring up the French maid really fast?
- 1:06:38Speaker 9: I was just going to go there. I was like,
- 1:06:40Speaker 9: if only.
- 1:06:41Speaker 6: We got to hear her talk more.
- 1:06:42Speaker 3: I really wish she had been like that. And this
- 1:06:45Speaker 3: is where the movie kind of referenced Clue. Because you
- 1:06:49Speaker 3: had Yvette as the maid, except she didn't have a
- 1:06:53Speaker 3: French accent. She just got electrocuted by Wesley because he
- 1:06:57Speaker 3: was wondering what's going to Friday night. And apparently it
- 1:06:59Speaker 3: was the French maid.
- 1:07:00Speaker 9: And he had a stick count going.
- 1:07:03Speaker 18: Yeah.
- 1:07:04Speaker 14: And the vacuum was hooked up to the.
- 1:07:05Speaker 7: Main circuit box.
- 1:07:07Speaker 8: I was wondering that because when they started talking about the, well,
- 1:07:12Speaker 8: this one was electrocuted, this one was blah, blah, blah.
- 1:07:16Speaker 8: I sort of was like, I think the count that
- 1:07:18Speaker 8: they mentioned matches with the count by the fuse box.
- 1:07:22Speaker 8: And I'm like, that's actually pretty freaking genius.
- 1:07:25Speaker 9: That's more work than you would have expected, these people.
- 1:07:27Speaker 8: Way to be on the job continuity person on this movie,
- 1:07:30Speaker 8: you know, to keep everything in line.
- 1:07:33Speaker 3: Well, and when the mother was talking about, like, oh,
- 1:07:35Speaker 3: this one's been electrocuted, at first I thought it was
- 1:07:37Speaker 3: the maid because of how crazy her hair was.
- 1:07:40Speaker 9: What was that switch, too? Like, she seemed sort of
- 1:07:43Speaker 9: normal that first scene with her, and then everyone after that,
- 1:07:45Speaker 9: she got, like, weirder, and her hair got stranger.
- 1:07:49Speaker 3: Her hair got crazy. She was crazy. It was like,
- 1:07:52Speaker 3: what's happening?
- 1:07:53Speaker 7: I think the actress got more drunk.
- 1:07:55Speaker 3: That's what I was just going to say.
- 1:07:57Speaker 5: Maybe everyone else.
- 1:07:57Speaker 3: She was just, like, her drunken stupor just, like, you know, reached.
- 1:08:03Speaker 3: Epic proportions as the movie went on, I think that's
- 1:08:06Speaker 3: all it was.
- 1:08:07Speaker 9: Again, everyone in this movie possibly was drunk. Although the
- 1:08:11Speaker 9: little girl kind of held her own.
- 1:08:12Speaker 7: You had something to say before I went off the tirade?
- 1:08:17Speaker 14: Oh, no, I was just talking about the circuit box
- 1:08:19Speaker 14: just only turned off the vacuum cleaner.
- 1:08:21Speaker 5: It was a huge switch.
- 1:08:23Speaker 1: All the other electricity was just fine.
- 1:08:25Speaker 8: Well, not to mention that they typically vacuum death machines.
- 1:08:30Speaker 7: When you have devices and you turn them off.
- 1:08:33Speaker 8: just turning it back on doesn't make the device come
- 1:08:35Speaker 8: back on sometimes, you know.
- 1:08:37Speaker 14: And explode or whatever.
- 1:08:39Speaker 7: Right.
- 1:08:42Speaker 8: Because I would think that like Underwriters Laboratory or in Canada,
- 1:08:46Speaker 8: the CE mark would have something about your device can't
- 1:08:50Speaker 8: electrocute people when it suddenly gets power again.
- 1:08:53Speaker 9: Public service announcement. goes along with this movie.
- 1:08:55Speaker 8: I don't think there's been a lot of vacuum electrocutions
- 1:08:59Speaker 8: in history.
- 1:09:01Speaker 7: I doubt that. I think that would be kind of rare.
- 1:09:02Speaker 21: Well, I think there probably were before this, you know,
- 1:09:05Speaker 21: before 1995, before they figured.
- 1:09:07Speaker 8: That out that you shouldn't have devices electrocute people when
- 1:09:11Speaker 8: they suddenly get power again.
- 1:09:12Speaker 14: So this is actually a PSA. I guess so.
- 1:09:14Speaker 19: Well, I didn't have any problem with the movie. until, like,
- 1:09:18Speaker 19: a certain inconsistency happened. Like, the kid was dressed like
- 1:09:21Speaker 19: a Nazi, and then he put on his jacket, and
- 1:09:23Speaker 19: then in the car, he had, like, a Mussolini outfit on.
- 1:09:25Speaker 5: So how told did that happen? So that lost her
- 1:09:28Speaker 5: right there.
- 1:09:29Speaker 9: Well, and we had someone schooled in karate.
- 1:09:32Speaker 5: Oh, yeah. He did a good job protecting the girl,
- 1:09:37Speaker 5: didn't he?
- 1:09:39Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 1:09:39Speaker 7: I felt bad for the couple making out by the fountain.
- 1:09:41Speaker 5: Oh, yeah.
- 1:09:43Speaker 9: What about the girl that lost her ice cream cone?
- 1:09:47Speaker 9: That was one of the tearing up moments.
- 1:09:50Speaker 19: I was also a little creeped out by Meatloaf being like,
- 1:09:52Speaker 19: little girl, little girl.
- 1:09:55Speaker 9: Well, I just like the fact that you can get
- 1:09:58Speaker 9: a little girl to open the door and be like,
- 1:10:00Speaker 9: let me in. Does that work? Is it like one
- 1:10:04Speaker 9: out of ten times? She's like, oh, okay.
- 1:10:06Speaker 7: Meatloaf comes to the door.
- 1:10:07Speaker 9: Yeah, you answer.
- 1:10:08Speaker 5: No, really, two out of three.
- 1:10:11Speaker 8: Damn it.
- 1:10:13Speaker 9: Yes, Meat Loaf, come in and let's play PlayStation. I'm
- 1:10:16Speaker 9: trying to put it in the accurate term.
- 1:10:18Speaker 14: I think the daughter was the best performer.
- 1:10:20Speaker 9: She really was, actually.
- 1:10:22Speaker 14: I mean, there were moments where I was convinced.
- 1:10:27Speaker 9: She was one of the few people that could actually
- 1:10:29Speaker 9: act in this movie, so kudos to you. Sorry, everyone
- 1:10:34Speaker 9: else that watched this movie. Not really. I'm not sorry
- 1:10:41Speaker 9: at all.
- 1:10:44Speaker 4: You lived it.
- 1:10:45Speaker 7: Yeah, I know.
- 1:10:46Speaker 5: She was a little bit.
- 1:10:47Speaker 7: That was me. I was the child actress.
- 1:10:49Speaker 5: We already discussed that.
- 1:10:50Speaker 8: Yes.
- 1:10:51Speaker 9: All right, well, I think now we need to do
- 1:10:53Speaker 9: a celebrity interview.
- 1:10:54Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 1:10:55Speaker 9: How did you get the job, and it didn't involve
- 1:10:57Speaker 9: touching a Yeti?
- 1:10:59Speaker 1: It did involve touching a Yeti and touching meatloaf.
- 1:11:02Speaker 4: Wow.
- 1:11:03Speaker 9: That's how most jobs are gotten around meatloaf.
- 1:11:06Speaker 1: Most of my jobs have somehow been retained by touching meatloaf.
- 1:11:12Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:11:13Speaker 5: I'm disappointed now. Because when I found out that the
- 1:11:16Speaker 5: story was about her, I thought it was a documentary.
- 1:11:19Speaker 9: Yeah. Wait, this wasn't?
- 1:11:20Speaker 5: No, it was just an acting.
- 1:11:21Speaker 7: Well, no, I mean, it was based on reality. That
- 1:11:23Speaker 7: really did happen in Bowling Green in my childhood.
- 1:11:27Speaker 9: Now memories are surfacing.
- 1:11:28Speaker 14: Yeah.
- 1:11:30Speaker 7: It's real. I have photos at home to prove it.
- 1:11:33Speaker 9: I don't think you're supposed to post those kind of photos. Otherwise,
- 1:11:37Speaker 9: we would attach them to this episode.
- 1:11:39Speaker 7: Yeah, well.
- 1:11:41Speaker 9: And even our episode has taken a dark turn. On
- 1:11:45Speaker 9: that note, do we think we've hit everything in To
- 1:11:47Speaker 9: Catch a Yeti? Do you feel it represents yetis in
- 1:11:51Speaker 9: a proper light and hunters of yetis? Do you think
- 1:11:55Speaker 9: there will be... How is there not a bad reality
- 1:11:59Speaker 9: show named To Catch a Yeti?
- 1:12:01Speaker 7: Well, it is To Catch a Predator.
- 1:12:03Speaker 9: That one's not... But there's like 14 Bigfoot ones out
- 1:12:06Speaker 9: right now. How is there not.
- 1:12:08Speaker 3: So if you do that crossover, would it be like
- 1:12:10Speaker 3: a yeti posing online as a 14-year-old girl? And then,
- 1:12:14Speaker 3: you know.
- 1:12:15Speaker 8: Well, and then maybe a real Yeti shows up to
- 1:12:20Speaker 8: the house as interviewed by Chris Hansen.
- 1:12:22Speaker 7: I would totally fall for that, yeah.
- 1:12:23Speaker 3: Yeah, that's what I'm thinking.
- 1:12:25Speaker 9: He's posing online.
- 1:12:27Speaker 7: Or your genius thing of where an actual.
- 1:12:30Speaker 19: I was always going to try to get on to
- 1:12:32Speaker 19: catch a predator, and I was going to show up
- 1:12:34Speaker 19: dressed like a predator.
- 1:12:37Speaker 7: Like from the Arnold Schwarzenegger?
- 1:12:38Speaker 5: And Chris Hansen, I was going to sit down, and
- 1:12:39Speaker 5: he was going to be like, so.
- 1:12:42Speaker 9: So what are you doing here with that laser on
- 1:12:45Speaker 9: your shoulder and a six-pack of wine coolers? Well, I
- 1:12:50Speaker 9: was just going to talk with her.
- 1:12:51Speaker 5: I mean, you know, we have things in common.
- 1:12:55Speaker 8: I was just going to skin her alive and take
- 1:12:57Speaker 8: her head and spine and take her to my spaceship.
- 1:13:00Speaker 9: That was later, but first we were going to chat,
- 1:13:04Speaker 9: you know. The Predator, ladies and gentlemen. This is a
- 1:13:09Speaker 9: special guest episode. All right, well, if nothing else, we
- 1:13:16Speaker 9: would like to thank the Old Spaghetti Factory for letting
- 1:13:18Speaker 9: us come in here and put this nonsense together. I mean,
- 1:13:23Speaker 9: do you realize we took over this entire giant, like,
- 1:13:26Speaker 9: hundred-plus-year-old building? It's a pretty classy operation, and we just
- 1:13:30Speaker 9: showed to catch a yeti in the middle of it.
- 1:13:33Speaker 8: Well, it seemed like all the staff was coming out
- 1:13:36Speaker 8: and getting pictures with the yeti.
- 1:13:38Speaker 14: Because we're awesome.
- 1:13:39Speaker 9: I mean, but still, I'm still shocked that we got
- 1:13:42Speaker 9: to put this together. So a big thank you to them.
- 1:13:44Speaker 9: And specifically to Crystal, who we've seen around here most
- 1:13:47Speaker 9: of the night. And she actually has been the person
- 1:13:50Speaker 9: who was on board with this idea and was working
- 1:13:53Speaker 9: with me to put it together. I'm not sure. We
- 1:13:56Speaker 9: need to, I don't know. This might be her last night.
- 1:13:58Speaker 9: We're sorry, Crystal. And again, we do want to thank
- 1:14:02Speaker 9: this wonderful equipment that you were just admiring, Bill. That's
- 1:14:07Speaker 9: from the doo-wop shop. So we do want to thank
- 1:14:09Speaker 9: them for putting this together with us as well. You
- 1:14:14Speaker 9: couldn't have experienced the wonder of To Catch a Yeti
- 1:14:17Speaker 9: without them.
- 1:14:20Speaker 8: So was this brought to us by a letter or
- 1:14:24Speaker 8: a word?
- 1:14:28Speaker 7: In tribute to the Sesame Street stuff?
- 1:14:30Speaker 3: I was going to say, we should probably ask Morgan
- 1:14:32Speaker 3: Freeman about that.
- 1:14:33Speaker 9: Technically, I think it's Electra Company.
- 1:14:35Speaker 7: Electra Company, yeah.
- 1:14:36Speaker 8: See, as a kid, I don't remember a distinction between
- 1:14:39Speaker 8: the two. They just were the same thing to me
- 1:14:41Speaker 8: as a kid.
- 1:14:41Speaker 18: Oh, yeah.
- 1:14:42Speaker 5: The Electric Company was actually more boring.
- 1:14:44Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:14:45Speaker 5: Except for the Spider-Man and the Kool Club.
- 1:14:48Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 1:14:48Speaker 3: I've never seen the Electric Company. Yeah, I haven't either.
- 1:14:51Speaker 9: Oh, really? See, three-two-cone contact. That was the way to go.
- 1:14:54Speaker 9: They had cool stuff.
- 1:14:55Speaker 7: Well, that had the Bloodhound Gang.
- 1:14:57Speaker 2: That's what I meant.
- 1:14:57Speaker 10: Bloodhound Gang.
- 1:14:58Speaker 5: What did I say? Kool Club.
- 1:15:01Speaker 4: What?
- 1:15:01Speaker 9: Whatever.
- 1:15:03Speaker 2: I'm detective shit.
- 1:15:05Speaker 18: What?
- 1:15:07Speaker 9: At Sherlock Holmes, yes. Do we still need to introduce ourselves?
- 1:15:12Speaker 3: Well, you said it was Bill's first time.
- 1:15:14Speaker 6: I know.
- 1:15:14Speaker 9: See, I introduced him.
- 1:15:16Speaker 5: Yeah, we didn't even realize we were going to be
- 1:15:18Speaker 5: part of it.
- 1:15:19Speaker 9: Of course you were. Of course you were. So, for
- 1:15:24Speaker 9: the rest of them, introduce yourself.
- 1:15:26Speaker 7: I'm Jeff Schneider.
- 1:15:27Speaker 9: And this is your first time on the show. How
- 1:15:31Speaker 9: do you feel about it? Blessed.
- 1:15:34Speaker 7: Blessed.
- 1:15:38Speaker 5: I like that.
- 1:15:39Speaker 9: Hashtag meltdown blessed. Put that on all your tweets from
- 1:15:44Speaker 9: here on out, people. And who else do we have? Hi,
- 1:15:47Speaker 9: I'm Amy Childress. And how have you enjoyed this wonderful experience?
- 1:15:53Speaker 7: It's been the highlight of my year, definitely, thus far.
- 1:15:57Speaker 9: 2014.
- 1:15:57Speaker 7: To get to yeti.
- 1:16:01Speaker 9: Hashtag sarcasm is how we need to, like, every comment
- 1:16:04Speaker 9: that everyone said tonight until we sat down. And most
- 1:16:07Speaker 9: of those were just like, this is great.
- 1:16:10Speaker 8: Does the Chinese calendar have a Yeti as an animal? Like,
- 1:16:15Speaker 8: could this be 2014, the.
- 1:16:16Speaker 6: Year of the Yeti?
- 1:16:17Speaker 9: We can call it that. The year of the meatloaf?
- 1:16:20Speaker 7: Or is it something like, is this the year of
- 1:16:22Speaker 7: the rat? Something boring like that? This is the year
- 1:16:24Speaker 7: of the horse.
- 1:16:25Speaker 11: Of the horse?
- 1:16:26Speaker 7: Man, screw regular animals. We need, like.
- 1:16:28Speaker 6: Well, okay.
- 1:16:29Speaker 9: The cryptology version of it.
- 1:16:31Speaker 7: Like, you're the cockatrice, or, you know, you're the minotaur.
- 1:16:35Speaker 9: You're the minotaur. That's your new metal album.
- 1:16:40Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:16:44Speaker 10: Oh, Lord.
- 1:16:46Speaker 8: Or any of the other Monster Manual monsters I could
- 1:16:49Speaker 8: probably name off the top of my head.
- 1:16:51Speaker 7: I want you to hear the Kraken.
- 1:16:55Speaker 9: My favorite? The Beholder. Since we're going down that road,
- 1:16:59Speaker 9: I mean.
- 1:17:00Speaker 8: Displacer beast. I mean, I can do this. I can
- 1:17:03Speaker 8: do this all night.
- 1:17:04Speaker 9: Let's throw out the nerd cards on this table right here.
- 1:17:07Speaker 9: Let me get my sack of dye. Hold on.
- 1:17:10Speaker 5: Year of the Zorn.
- 1:17:11Speaker 7: I have that thing memorized.
- 1:17:16Speaker 2: In front of me.
- 1:17:17Speaker 9: It's so sad.
- 1:17:19Speaker 7: I like the gibbering mouther. That's my favorite. This is
- 1:17:23Speaker 7: the year of the gelatinous cube.
- 1:17:30Speaker 9: The rest of the table is distancing themselves. They're creeping
- 1:17:33Speaker 9: out of the other side of the room.
- 1:17:34Speaker 7: I'm going to use my.
- 1:17:36Speaker 3: Plus 14 longsword on you.
- 1:17:36Speaker 7: This Nerdfest has been brought to you by.
- 1:17:41Speaker 9: Movie Meltdown. See, again, the handful of people that get
- 1:18:02Speaker 9: that reference knows it's not just a reference, it's your life.
- 1:18:09Speaker 9: God help us. Stephanie, have you thoughts on this? Would
- 1:18:15Speaker 9: you like to weigh in? I'm good.
- 1:18:17Speaker 4: I'm not funny.
- 1:18:20Speaker 9: This provides all the comedy you don't really have to
- 1:18:24Speaker 9: you can phone it in when you have this do.
- 1:18:27Speaker 8: You sort of have like a real life identity that
- 1:18:29Speaker 8: you don't want to get sullied by association with this
- 1:18:33Speaker 8: i don't blame.
- 1:18:33Speaker 9: You many a person has been like don't use my real.
- 1:18:38Speaker 8: Name so we heard uh we heard uh Saturday night
- 1:18:43Speaker 8: you were talking about Denny penises.
- 1:18:47Speaker 7: Would you like to explain that to us?
- 1:18:49Speaker 9: See, this is a new world we've entered into where
- 1:18:51Speaker 9: people really do get fired from their job for being
- 1:18:54Speaker 9: on a podcast because you say some pretty horrible and
- 1:18:58Speaker 9: ridiculous things on a, in our case, weekly basis. Then
- 1:19:02Speaker 9: you're welcome to come back any time.
- 1:19:06Speaker 14: All right.
- 1:19:07Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 1:19:08Speaker 18: Yeah.
- 1:19:09Speaker 9: That i think i think we better pack up all
- 1:19:11Speaker 9: this stuff there's a ton of stuff here in the
- 1:19:14Speaker 9: middle of the old spaghetti factory so i think we
- 1:19:16Speaker 9: better um load it up and do you want to
- 1:19:19Speaker 9: work in a last reference.
- 1:19:22Speaker 7: Anything for love mind flayer.
- 1:19:26Speaker 9: Going i'm going midnight at the lost and found it's
- 1:19:29Speaker 9: right about midnight anyway otherwise that about does it we
- 1:19:33Speaker 9: will return next week same geek time same geek feed
- 1:19:35Speaker 9: thanks for listening Bye.
- 1:19:40Speaker 10: Bye.
- 1:20:07Speaker 14: I've lived my life in a cage.
- 1:20:09Speaker 5: Freedom spit in my face. It was such a disgrace.
- 1:20:11Speaker 18: That I was lonely.
- 1:20:13Speaker 23: Burnt out and empty.
