- 0:08Speaker 1: Advice Love. Welcome to the Naughty but Nicea. I'm your
- 0:16Speaker 1: host of Shooter and it is Tuesday, which means our
- 0:19Speaker 1: dear friend Delena Dixon joins us. Hey, mister, are you there?
- 0:23Speaker 2: I am, and I'm back in New York Shooter.
- 0:26Speaker 1: How long are you here for?
- 0:28Speaker 2: I'm here for at least two weeks. I know, it
- 0:31Speaker 2: feels like a lifetime. I was in Louisville, Kentucky with
- 0:34Speaker 2: the Ebony team. We were on a lovely country rotreat.
- 0:38Speaker 2: We were on a lovely company retreat, and I got
- 0:40Speaker 2: to see downtown Louisville, so it was so much fun.
- 0:43Speaker 1: I gotta say Ebony is on fire, Misty. I hadn't
- 0:46Speaker 1: really been into that brand for several years. Now I
- 0:49Speaker 1: get to the website every day. It's fantastic and I
- 0:52Speaker 1: love it when I see your little byline, I see
- 0:54Speaker 1: your name and actually a lot of stories you're turning
- 0:57Speaker 1: it out.
- 0:58Speaker 2: Well, Thank you so much. You know, what's so important
- 1:01Speaker 2: to us is championing the black expression, and we want
- 1:04Speaker 2: to let people know that it's not just for black readers.
- 1:07Speaker 2: We welcome all people to read in our story because
- 1:09Speaker 2: we realize that we have so many allies in the community.
- 1:13Speaker 2: So please come down at ebony dot com. I got
- 1:16Speaker 2: some good stories for you and come and check them out.
- 1:20Speaker 1: Dead and done. Okay, let's jump into our show. What
- 1:22Speaker 1: time is it? My friends? It is tea Time. Big story.
- 1:26Speaker 1: At the top of the show, Adida, or in Britain
- 1:28Speaker 1: we call them added Us, is apologizing to Bella head
- 1:33Speaker 1: Deed over a controversial Munich Olympics ad. Let me explain.
- 1:38Speaker 2: So.
- 1:38Speaker 1: Adidas has issued an apology following the backlash over its
- 1:44Speaker 1: Munich Olympics themed ad campaign featuring Bella had died. So.
- 1:50Speaker 1: The campaign was inspired by the nineteen seventy two Olympics,
- 1:55Speaker 1: which might have been one of the most traumatic Olympics
- 1:59Speaker 1: ever comes At that Olympics, eleven Israeli athletes and one
- 2:06Speaker 1: German police officer were murdered by a militant Palestinian group.
- 2:12Speaker 1: Now it gets very complicated because Bella has been very
- 2:16Speaker 1: supportive of Palaestine and now she's featured in this campaign,
- 2:22Speaker 1: so it looks really disrespectful. Now the company is apologizing
- 2:26Speaker 1: to her, saying, quote, we apologize to all our partners.
- 2:29Speaker 1: They've pulled the ads. The big question here, mister, is
- 2:32Speaker 1: how does this keep happening. Remember when Blianciaga had a
- 2:38Speaker 1: campaign that seemed to be about children and sexually abusing children.
- 2:43Speaker 1: How does this get from the boardroom, from the idea
- 2:48Speaker 1: to the side of a buzz or a billboard in
- 2:52Speaker 1: Times Square.
- 2:54Speaker 2: I'm so glad you asked me this question, because we
- 2:57Speaker 2: have this discussion very often. It's because you don't have
- 3:01Speaker 2: the and I'm going to use a nicer word, the heck,
- 3:04Speaker 2: no person.
- 3:05Speaker 1: In a room.
- 3:07Speaker 2: This is when you have to make sure that you
- 3:08Speaker 2: have diverse voices in your ad room, in your marketing room,
- 3:14Speaker 2: somebody who can say, excuse me, we might not want
- 3:19Speaker 2: to do that because if you recall historically we had
- 3:24Speaker 2: this horrible event happening and making any connection to it,
- 3:27Speaker 2: whether you're trying to be hip or you're saying, oh,
- 3:29Speaker 2: we weren't even thinking about that. We love the costumes
- 3:32Speaker 2: from nineteen seventy two, what the uniforms they wore. It's like, no,
- 3:38Speaker 2: if I have to if I'm questioning it, someone else
- 3:42Speaker 2: is going to do. And that's happened many times. When
- 3:45Speaker 2: you see ads that are inappropriate towards the black community,
- 3:48Speaker 2: like putting a young black boy in a shirt that
- 3:51Speaker 2: has a monkey on it. I know it's just fun
- 3:54Speaker 2: and you know, like, oh, of course, like you know,
- 3:56Speaker 2: kids like monkeys, but the thought process behind it is wrong.
- 4:01Speaker 2: So that's what the problem is. It's not having diverse voices,
- 4:06Speaker 2: whether they be black, whether they be LGBTQ, whether they
- 4:10Speaker 2: be of Jewish descent in the room. To make sure
- 4:14Speaker 2: to say that could be considered.
- 4:16Speaker 1: A fencis absolutely. I find different ages are very helpful
- 4:20Speaker 1: too for me, Mistery. In my work, something that I
- 4:23Speaker 1: might say, and I hope I mean no offense by
- 4:26Speaker 1: it is perceived a very different way for people who
- 4:29Speaker 1: are under twenty, and so I like having those voices.
- 4:32Speaker 1: My staff, my team are really diverse. And that's not
- 4:36Speaker 1: because I want to be cool in here. It's because
- 4:38Speaker 1: my work's better. The work is better when I have older, younger, gay, straight,
- 4:45Speaker 1: lots of women too. I like lots of women in
- 4:47Speaker 1: my rooms, Misty. I surround myself with really smart women.
- 4:51Speaker 1: Part of my success is not my talent. It's who
- 4:55Speaker 1: I pick to sit next to me, who's at the
- 4:59Speaker 1: round table, And that is really what my talent is.
- 5:03Speaker 1: It's not me. It's the fact that I'm quite good
- 5:07Speaker 1: at selecting and finding really extraordinary people, including you, mister Oh.
- 5:13Speaker 2: I love that and yeah, like I said, I just
- 5:15Speaker 2: have to reiterate, and I love that you brought up
- 5:17Speaker 2: age and you brought up gender and to people with
- 5:21Speaker 2: different views. I mean, it's so important that we kind
- 5:24Speaker 2: of see how everyone feels. And you know, as long
- 5:27Speaker 2: as there's there's no hate behind it, you know, people
- 5:31Speaker 2: can have different views and you just have to be sensitive.
- 5:35Speaker 2: So this is this was not the best type of
- 5:39Speaker 2: ad to put out, but hopefully Adidas learns its lesson.
- 5:42Speaker 2: But I unfortunately think we might be back here, you know,
- 5:47Speaker 2: a few months from now having in the conversation about
- 5:50Speaker 2: someone else higher diverse.
- 5:51Speaker 1: People and listen everybody. That's another problem. Could have a
- 5:55Speaker 1: room of really fabulously talented people, including disabled people. That's
- 5:59Speaker 1: another group that I like to have there around me
- 6:01Speaker 1: with my arm being damaged. But if you don't listen
- 6:05Speaker 1: to them, what's the point. I listen. I really do listen.
- 6:08Speaker 1: I'm working on a new project at the moment, and
- 6:10Speaker 1: I asked Bruce, my husband, Bruce, to read a couple
- 6:13Speaker 1: of pages, and he had two really good notes and
- 6:16Speaker 1: I listened. I absolutely listened. And sometimes your ego doesn't
- 6:20Speaker 1: want to listen? Does it? Because you want to be right?
- 6:22Speaker 1: You don't want anybody telling you what a problem is.
- 6:25Speaker 1: You want everybody telling you how great you are. Well, no, listen,
- 6:29Speaker 1: and if you do listen, I promise you you will
- 6:31Speaker 1: become great. Okay, this brings us to our whole question
- 6:34Speaker 1: of the day. Adidas is apologizing to Bella headed over
- 6:40Speaker 1: the controversial Munich Olympic ads. Is this enough? Is this
- 6:46Speaker 1: apology enough? Hey? Go vote on our Twitter page. I
- 6:49Speaker 1: had naughty Nyser robb or a Facebook page which is
- 6:51Speaker 1: naughty gossip and be sure to check back tomorrow I
- 6:55Speaker 1: or to hear your results. Hey, mistive, what are you
- 6:57Speaker 1: working on?
- 6:58Speaker 2: Jennifer Meyer? You remember her. She's a jewelry designer. So
- 7:02Speaker 2: she recently shared that Gwyneth Paltrow played a significant role
- 7:07Speaker 2: in influencing her Amacoble split from actor Toby maguire. So
- 7:12Speaker 2: the couple they separated back in twenty sixteen, and they
- 7:16Speaker 2: finalized their divorce four years later, but they managed to
- 7:19Speaker 2: maintain a friendly relationship throughout the process, and Jennifer says
- 7:24Speaker 2: it's because she looked at Gwyneth, who divorced Chris Martin
- 7:27Speaker 2: and noticed their conscious uncoupling in twenty fourteen, and it
- 7:32Speaker 2: really had a profound effect on her. She said, right
- 7:35Speaker 2: when Toby and I were starting to break up, I
- 7:38Speaker 2: watch what Gwyneth did and was doing with Chris, this
- 7:42Speaker 2: conscious uncoupling. And everybody was making fun of it, but
- 7:47Speaker 2: I got to see it firsthand, and it was the
- 7:49Speaker 2: most beautiful thing that I had ever witnessed two human
- 7:53Speaker 2: beings going through. She was so loving and kind and open,
- 7:57Speaker 2: and she created this family for them. I mean, when
- 8:00Speaker 2: you're going through a breakup, there's so many hard feelings,
- 8:04Speaker 2: but you have to kind of, as you say, Rob,
- 8:07Speaker 2: put kindness first. You know, whether it's for your own heart,
- 8:11Speaker 2: or for children, or for the family surrounding.
- 8:13Speaker 1: What do you think, Well, I love this. It's very
- 8:15Speaker 1: easy to make fun of Gwenneth, but you know, if
- 8:18Speaker 1: you give her a little moment, she's often very right.
- 8:21Speaker 1: Remember when she came out with conscious and coupling, Oh
- 8:24Speaker 1: my goodness, we all mocked her, We all giggled at her,
- 8:27Speaker 1: we all thought how crazy it was. No, she's right.
- 8:29Speaker 1: You don't have to go to war with your ex.
- 8:32Speaker 1: You don't. You don't have to go to war with
- 8:35Speaker 1: someone There was a friend that you fell out with.
- 8:37Speaker 1: You can have disagreements, you can decide you're not actually
- 8:40Speaker 1: good together as friends, but you don't have to be
- 8:43Speaker 1: full of hate. You don't have to be full of drama.
- 8:46Speaker 1: I love this and the fact that it comes from Gwenneth,
- 8:49Speaker 1: who I've made fun of myself. I love to roll
- 8:52Speaker 1: my eyes at Gwyneth, but in this instant, I think
- 8:56Speaker 1: she really taught us something. Mistery, you don't have to fight.
- 9:00Speaker 1: Put down the sword. Just because it didn't work out
- 9:04Speaker 1: doesn't mean that the rest of my life I'm gonna
- 9:06Speaker 1: hate you.
- 9:07Speaker 2: No.
- 9:07Speaker 1: In fact, I'm gonna move on. We can consciously uncouple,
- 9:10Speaker 1: we can break up as friends. I can move on, mystery,
- 9:13Speaker 1: how are you about moving on?
- 9:15Speaker 2: Yeah? Maybe I'm nice, sophisticated. I mean, I love the
- 9:20Speaker 2: idea of trying to stay in touch with your ex,
- 9:24Speaker 2: especially if you've been married and you have children. Sometimes
- 9:27Speaker 2: when you're in a relationship that somebody does something so egregious,
- 9:31Speaker 2: so it's hard sometimes to forgive. But I will say,
- 9:35Speaker 2: there's a certain young man that I know, and we
- 9:38Speaker 2: had a conscious uncoupling, but we've managed to stay friends.
- 9:41Speaker 2: And I think the key was we were friends first,
- 9:44Speaker 2: and I think when you're friends first and you have
- 9:47Speaker 2: this foundation, you don't want to lose that because that's important.
- 9:50Speaker 2: So you may no longer be emotionally or intimately connected,
- 9:55Speaker 2: but that friendship remains. I think it's a little bit
- 9:57Speaker 2: harder if you just jump into a relationship and you
- 10:00Speaker 2: don't have any found it.
- 10:01Speaker 1: It's hard. It's hard. Life is hard. Okay, moving along
- 10:05Speaker 1: Andrew Garfield's quote which girlfriend denies using magic to seduce
- 10:10Speaker 1: the actor So Andrew's girl. So Andrew's girlfriend. Kate Thomas
- 10:16Speaker 1: a self proclaimed professional witch. I'm not calling her a witch.
- 10:20Speaker 1: She calls herself a witch. She's now denying allegations that
- 10:23Speaker 1: she used magic to seduce the actor. She put out
- 10:27Speaker 1: a really strong statement. I really really like this. She
- 10:30Speaker 1: said that seduction has absolutely nothing to do with magic,
- 10:33Speaker 1: spells or manipulation. This is what it has to do
- 10:36Speaker 1: with It's got to do with you, with who you are.
- 10:41Speaker 1: It's about charisma, it's about being authentically yourself, being confident
- 10:46Speaker 1: in who you are. Nothing to do with magic. If
- 10:50Speaker 1: you want to find your soul made the person in
- 10:54Speaker 1: your life, don't pretend to be anybody but you. And
- 10:58Speaker 1: this is what Andrew really really likes about it. She
- 11:01Speaker 1: also does go on to denounce misogynistic representations and reactions
- 11:07Speaker 1: to her relationship with Andrew Garfield. So some people are
- 11:11Speaker 1: curious about these two, implying maybe that they look quite different,
- 11:16Speaker 1: that they have different interests. Now, happy, stop judging other
- 11:21Speaker 1: people's relationships. If you don't want people to judge yours,
- 11:24Speaker 1: stop judging theirs.
- 11:27Speaker 2: I would say absolutely, So. I think people are trying
- 11:31Speaker 2: to justify where Andrew Garfield, who is an A list actor,
- 11:35Speaker 2: is dating this woman. She does have a colorful past
- 11:38Speaker 2: if you've read up on it, and maybe she doesn't
- 11:41Speaker 2: meet what we consider other people consider traditional standards of
- 11:45Speaker 2: beauty or I wouldn't even say that. I would say
- 11:48Speaker 2: she doesn't necessarily look like his fellow movie stars. But
- 11:51Speaker 2: as you said, if they find happiness with each other,
- 11:55Speaker 2: if they have things that they can talk about that
- 11:58Speaker 2: makes them have a good time, so what. But I
- 12:02Speaker 2: think people want to justify, like why isn't he dating
- 12:06Speaker 2: someone who is also a big A list movie star
- 12:10Speaker 2: And you know what, y'all need to find other things
- 12:13Speaker 2: to do.
- 12:15Speaker 1: Well said, okay, quickly before we go to break this day,
- 12:18Speaker 1: we have some Prince George news. What's going on?
- 12:22Speaker 2: Oh my goodness. So Prince George just celebrated his eleventh birthday.
- 12:26Speaker 2: Oh my goodness, he's growing up so fast. And of
- 12:28Speaker 2: course we got to see his birthday portrait, which was
- 12:31Speaker 2: taken by none other than his mom, Kate.
- 12:34Speaker 1: Miss Good.
- 12:35Speaker 2: So yeah. The family shared the striking black and white
- 12:40Speaker 2: photograph on Instagram and it basically said, wishing Prince Georgia,
- 12:44Speaker 2: I'm very happy eleventh birthday today. And then of course
- 12:48Speaker 2: he's a preteen now.
- 12:49Speaker 1: Oh my goodness.
- 12:50Speaker 2: He was wearing a black blazer, matching pants and a
- 12:53Speaker 2: white button up shirt, smiling warmly at the camera, and
- 12:56Speaker 2: you know, it just shows that Prince George is growing up.
- 13:00Speaker 2: I mean he will be king someday. And of course
- 13:04Speaker 2: his little sister and little brother, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis,
- 13:08Speaker 2: also celebrated their big brother's birthday, so it's just fun.
- 13:13Speaker 2: And of course it's so important to see that it
- 13:15Speaker 2: was from Kate. We know that she's well enough to
- 13:18Speaker 2: take these photos and we get to just get a
- 13:21Speaker 2: little glimpse into the royal life, which just makes ROL
- 13:24Speaker 2: fans so happy. It makes us so happy and We
- 13:27Speaker 2: love to see them celebrate these happy milestones. Happy milestones.
- 13:31Speaker 2: Happy birthday, Prince George. I cannot believe that you're eleven.
- 13:36Speaker 1: Years eleven years old. Oh it looks great. Sources tell
- 13:40Speaker 1: me this is the silver lining of all the drama
- 13:42Speaker 1: with Harry and Meghan. It has encouraged William and Kate
- 13:45Speaker 1: to be more open about their own lives. They used
- 13:47Speaker 1: to be really private and if it wasn't for Meghan
- 13:50Speaker 1: and Harry, they probably wouldn't be doing this. They wouldn't
- 13:52Speaker 1: have been pushed into this. So now that they're there,
- 13:56Speaker 1: maybe not by their own choice, I think this is
- 13:58Speaker 1: a really good idea. We've got to change with the times.
- 14:02Speaker 1: We can't keep the royal family locked up behind the
- 14:05Speaker 1: castle walls, because if we do, people are going to
- 14:08Speaker 1: sort of get disinterested in them. Part of the job
- 14:10Speaker 1: here is keeping us interested, and I think letting us
- 14:13Speaker 1: in on their birthday celebrations, on the children, you know,
- 14:17Speaker 1: to a certain extent, I admit I admire their boundaries.
- 14:21Speaker 1: We're not chasing them around London with cameras. But if
- 14:24Speaker 1: Kate wants to release a picture several times a year,
- 14:26Speaker 1: or maybe just once a yeah, I think it's a
- 14:28Speaker 1: really really smart move and he looks just adorable. I
- 14:31Speaker 1: posted it on my Instagram page if you want to
- 14:34Speaker 1: check it out. Okay, we're going to take it quick
- 14:36Speaker 1: day and we will be right back. Welcome. That would
- 14:42Speaker 1: be naughty but nice. Under shoot it with our dear
- 14:44Speaker 1: friend Misty. Hey, mistery, let's get to the polls. Are
- 14:49Speaker 1: you ready? Duh? I love this part of the show.
- 14:54Speaker 1: So yesterday we talked about Kate Middleton, who's going to
- 14:58Speaker 1: retreat from the PubL after her Wimbledon appearance. Our question was,
- 15:05Speaker 1: are you disappointed? Let's have a look. Seventy percent said yes,
- 15:09Speaker 1: you are disappointed. You do want to see more Kate,
- 15:11Speaker 1: but I should note a lot of people who responded
- 15:15Speaker 1: also said they respect this. This is Kate's choice. Yes,
- 15:19Speaker 1: it's a little disappointing. I would love to see more Kate,
- 15:22Speaker 1: but I also do accept it, and I think it's
- 15:25Speaker 1: probably a very very good idea. Hey, don't forget to
- 15:28Speaker 1: vote on today's poll. Go to our Twitter page had
- 15:32Speaker 1: naughty Nice Rob or our Facebook page, which is naughty
- 15:36Speaker 1: Gossip and be she to check back tomorrow to hear
- 15:41Speaker 1: your results. And now it's time for a nice night
- 15:46Speaker 1: of the day.
- 15:49Speaker 2: Well, our nicest of the day is Ryan Reynolds. I mean,
- 15:52Speaker 2: of course, his Deadpool movie is coming out this week,
- 15:55Speaker 2: but more importantly, he recently shared a humorous take on
- 15:59Speaker 2: the potent cost of having his friend Taylor Swift babysit
- 16:04Speaker 2: his and Blake's four children. So he's married to Blake
- 16:08Speaker 2: Lively and basically he said, the cost of that, I
- 16:13Speaker 2: believe the accountant said is cost prohibited. He was asked
- 16:20Speaker 2: this question. So, Ryan and Blake who We're married in
- 16:24Speaker 2: September twenty twelve. They have four children. They've got James,
- 16:28Speaker 2: Inez and Betty and they're little one year old that
- 16:32Speaker 2: were just starting to find out some information about. So
- 16:36Speaker 2: but yeah, if you want Taylor Swift to babysit, I mean,
- 16:40Speaker 2: and I'm sure she would come with a bag of
- 16:42Speaker 2: songs and performance and maybe then backup singers and a band.
- 16:48Speaker 2: Costant changes, it's gonna get a little price.
- 16:52Speaker 1: It's adorable. So last night at the premiere of Deadpool
- 16:55Speaker 1: and Wolverine and Ryan Reynolds revealed the name of their
- 16:59Speaker 1: four child. It is Olin, the O L I N
- 17:02Speaker 1: or it's a beautiful name. O L I N. And
- 17:05Speaker 1: today check out the pictures of Blake on the red
- 17:09Speaker 1: carpet support In Ryan, she turns up as a sexy
- 17:13Speaker 1: looking Deadpool type character. She's wearing this very tight red
- 17:19Speaker 1: sort of like cat suit. It looks amazing. These two
- 17:23Speaker 1: are adorable. And nice is the day and now and
- 17:25Speaker 1: naughty is of the day. Naughty, naughty, naughty, naughty. So
- 17:27Speaker 1: Madonna's son has had to issue a clarification after saying
- 17:31Speaker 1: he was scavenging for food. So it felt as if
- 17:33Speaker 1: David put out this, this drama, this sort of silly
- 17:37Speaker 1: story that he had moved out of his mom's house
- 17:40Speaker 1: and now he was so poor. Boooo, he was scavenging
- 17:44Speaker 1: for food. I had it when rich people play being poor.
- 17:48Speaker 1: He's got mommy's credit card, he's got mommy's, mommy's money.
- 17:52Speaker 1: He can always gave that safety in it. I know
- 17:54Speaker 1: a lot of people that don't have a safety net.
- 17:56Speaker 1: It's not funny, it's not cool, it's not she pretending
- 17:58Speaker 1: to be a poor artist struggling. Not cheek, not funny,
- 18:03Speaker 1: not funny at all. Well, now, the backlash was so overwhelming.
- 18:06Speaker 1: He went on to say that his mother is very
- 18:08Speaker 1: supportive about him and his decisions, and he's trying to
- 18:12Speaker 1: navigate life independently. That is very admirable. I tip my
- 18:16Speaker 1: hat to that. But you don't here need to turn
- 18:19Speaker 1: being poor into a sound bite. Shame on you and
- 18:24Speaker 1: naughties of the day. But with a murmur a rob
- 18:27Speaker 1: a rob. Discomfort is the price of admission to a
- 18:32Speaker 1: full life. Only a dead person feels nothing, So stop
- 18:39Speaker 1: wishing a dead person's life on yourself. If you're uncomfortable today,
- 18:44Speaker 1: that might be a good thing because it means that
- 18:47Speaker 1: you are living a full, full life. It's impossible to
- 18:52Speaker 1: be happy all the time. It is. It's just not realistic.
- 18:55Speaker 1: That's not a real life. Enjoy the good moments, really do,
- 18:59Speaker 1: but try also to enjoy the bad moments too. Hey,
- 19:04Speaker 1: that is it for today. Thank you so much for
