Today I have my daughter Olivia on discussing what it was like to be 8 years old and experience moving to a new place, from Alaska to Reno, NV. She thought it was awful - the desert, it smelled weird. Then 9 months later her dad and I divorced, she had to make new friends over and over, experienced head lice and asked to have her head shaved (big mistake), and was on a baseball team - the only girl, with short hair, who hated baseball.
