- 0:01First Corinthians chapter 3 let us pray the Lord God who reigns
- 0:11on high. Father God Almighty, we thank
- 0:14you. Lord Jesus, you are high lifted
- 0:17up above every single thing, person, entity.
- 0:22You are the one and only God. You are the most high God.
- 0:27You are the God supreme above everything.
- 0:30Yes, Lord Jesus Christ, be exalted in the highest.
- 0:34We lift you up over all of our own problems, issues, families,
- 0:41workplaces, finances, health. God, we lift you up higher than
- 0:47anything that is trying to drag us away today.
- 0:50Father, I pray that you will fill us with the Holy Spirit.
- 0:54I pray that your words, God Almighty, will never return
- 0:57void. I pray for the salvation of
- 1:00many, Lord, to come into the fold today, Father, that they'll
- 1:05hear your voice and they'll respond to your voice, God, as
- 1:08you draw them unto yourself. Father, I pray that you, Lord
- 1:12God, will be well pleased with the reading of your scriptures.
- 1:16Father, I pray that it'll be you who gets magnified and glorified
- 1:21in all of the reading of the text today.
- 1:25Lord, we get out of the way. It's all about you.
- 1:28It's all about your plans for the ages, God.
- 1:32And we say yes and Amen. The Spirit and the Bride says,
- 1:36come, Maranatha, come, Lord Jesus, come.
- 1:42In the midst of everything, God, we focus our eyes on you and not
- 1:46on this world. We focus our eyes on you who is
- 1:50the author and the perfecter of our faith.
- 1:53Lord, carry us home, carry us from glory to glory.
- 1:59Hallelujah. I pray, Lord, that you'll teach
- 2:03us your eternal paths. Lord, I pray that it'll be your
- 2:08words that are the very first thing that it is throughout our
- 2:13day and the very last thing on our minds.
- 2:16Lord, as we meditate upon your scriptures, I decrease as you
- 2:22increase. It's all about you, King Jesus,
- 2:25we love you. Heal our broken bodies and heal
- 2:29broken marriages. Bring the prodigals home.
- 2:31Break off addiction today in the name of Jesus Christ.
- 2:35I pray you'll bind the enemy and cast him into the judgment that
- 2:39you have a waiting for him. Cast out every unclean, foul
- 2:42spirit from this house. God, I pray for the church at
- 2:46large. God, I pray for the persecuted
- 2:49church. God, I pray for the women and
- 2:51the children and the men who are being persecuted all around this
- 2:55world. God, I pray against all of the
- 2:59evil demonic powers in this world.
- 3:01God, bind them and let revival break out in the name of Jesus
- 3:05Christ. Let heaven come to earth just as
- 3:08it is there. Lord, Your will be done.
- 3:11God, we just want what you want, Father, and we want to know that
- 3:16you are moving mightily in the midst and that you are taking
- 3:20back enemy territory. God, we take the Kingdom of
- 3:24heaven by force and violently gone.
- 3:27It's you, Father, who give us the sword today to do war.
- 3:33We lift up our shield of faith. We put on the helmet of
- 3:37salvation God. We run the race.
- 3:39We receive our peace with the gospel shoes, Father, We put on
- 3:44the belt of truth God. We put on the breastplate of
- 3:48righteousness God. We stand on love and joy and
- 3:51peace and patience, God. We stand on gentleness, God.
- 3:56We stand on kindness, God. We stand on self-control, God.
- 4:00We stand on all of the fruit, Father, that you have given us.
- 4:05And so, God, lead us home. We love you, King Jesus, we
- 4:11worship you, King Jesus, and it's in your powerful and
- 4:17precious name that we pray. Amen.
- 4:23Let's start in verse one. And I brothers, could not speak
- 4:33unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto
- 4:41babes in Christ. Paul is saying here, let's go
- 4:47deeper and these babes in Christ only want to go surface level.
- 4:57Have you ever found that in your life, friend?
- 5:00You feel like you're a fire hydrant trying to pour out
- 5:03spiritual truths to people who are still stuck on the spiritual
- 5:07candy and they're not yet able to digest all of the deep things
- 5:15that God has revealed to you? Don't be surprised if you've
- 5:19been following after the Lord for a long time and you go to
- 5:22share a word with somebody and it's not received because
- 5:26they're so steeped in the world, friends and they just want to be
- 5:33spoon fed and they're not in the Word of God.
- 5:36There are many people who have been following after the Lord
- 5:39God for a long time, and they have yet to finish the entirety
- 5:44of God's Word. And if we truly believe that it
- 5:47was God's Word, we would not be able to put it down.
- 5:50It would be the thing that our hand is on when we're waking up.
- 5:54It would be the thing that our hand is on when we have any free
- 5:57time. It would be the thing that our
- 5:59hand is upon as we're closing our eyes for the night.
- 6:02Friends, the Word of God is alive and active, friends, and
- 6:06it is discerning you. It is reading you, but we have
- 6:09no appetite for the word of God because we have increased the
- 6:13appetite for the candy, friends, of all of the short videos and
- 6:21all of the sound bites and we just want to be spoon fed and
- 6:26we're not feeding ourselves. We're still stuck on the milk
- 6:30and we've yet to start digesting all of the meat.
- 6:35Friends. My advice to anyone who's caught
- 6:38up in that is to start in the book of Matthew.
- 6:42Read from Matthew to Revelation, and when you get to Revelation,
- 6:46start in Genesis. When you get into Genesis, go
- 6:49all the way to Malachi, and when you get done with Malachi, start
- 6:55back in Matthew and read that way for the rest of your life.
- 6:59Friends, don't just go cherry picking verses and take them out
- 7:05of context to fit whatever lifestyle you're trying to
- 7:10create for yourself and manufacture in the flesh,
- 7:14friends. And that is what Paul is wanting
- 7:17the Corinthians in this chapter to understand.
- 7:21And it is an oxymoron to call them carnal and Christians at
- 7:25the same time. But somehow, in some way, they
- 7:29are. And these are the ones that will
- 7:35escape the damn nation of hell, but only as if out of a fire.
- 7:42They will be naked friends. They will have nothing to take
- 7:46with them into eternity. And you can be saved.
- 7:50And you can be fruitful and unrewarding, but just remember
- 7:57that the tree that bears no fruit and the tree that bears
- 8:01bad fruit of both cut down and cast into the fire.
- 8:05So these men and women are barely scraping by, friends.
- 8:11They do not want to go deep with the Lord.
- 8:13They just want enough to get out of hell to I have fed you with
- 8:20milk and not with meat, for before you were not able to bear
- 8:26it neither, yet now are you able.
- 8:30It's so disappointing whenever you're trying to reveal things
- 8:34to people in a profound, deep way and they will not go there
- 8:38with you because they're too preoccupied with the things of
- 8:42this world. They're in love with this world,
- 8:44friends, and they are only robbing themselves of eternal
- 8:53rewards. We're not talking about salvific
- 8:56issues here, friends. This is going to pertain to
- 9:01those who have been marked by Him and have received the Holy
- 9:08Ghost, but not to the measure of the fullness that God desires.
- 9:15And that is what you need to know that salvation is a free
- 9:18gift from God, but rewards are what we receive for the work
- 9:26that we do after salvation. 3 For you are yet carnal, for
- 9:35whereas there is among you envying strife, divisions, are
- 9:45you not carnal and walk as men. He's calling them out friends.
- 9:50He's saying look at the fruit that you are producing.
- 9:55It is rotten fruit. He is saying you are stuck in
- 10:01all of the fleshly, repulsive addictions that unsaved men go
- 10:13after. And far be it from us to not
- 10:17look any different than the world around us, friends.
- 10:22And there will be people who come alongside of you, and
- 10:25they'll be measuring with the things that you say and do.
- 10:28And they'll see that there's no difference in you than their
- 10:31unsaved friend who is having a blast in his life because he's
- 10:37at the outset of sin and he hasn't yet understood that it is
- 10:41death. And they're going to look at
- 10:43that and they're going to weigh in the balance and they're going
- 10:45to see that you are miserable and there's going to be nothing
- 10:49to draw them to God because your life doesn't add up.
- 10:52Friends. That is hypocrisy at its core.
- 10:56And that is the duplicity that God does not desire in your
- 11:00life. We do not need to walk as the
- 11:04rest of the world. We are called to be light and
- 11:07salt to be filled with the Holy Ghost for for a while.
- 11:11One says I am of Paul and another I am of Apollo's.
- 11:16Are you not? Are you not carnal?
- 11:19He's saying give all the glory to Jesus Christ.
- 11:21Don't look at men. We spend way too much time
- 11:25trying to measure where we're at by other people's walk.
- 11:30What we ought to do is fix our eyes upon the Lord Jesus Christ
- 11:40and radiate His glory to this world.
- 11:45If we are living, looking around and looking down instead of up,
- 11:52we will find ourselves not looking any different than the
- 11:56unsaved man. 5 Who then is Paul? Who is Apollo's, but ministers
- 12:05by whom you believed? Even as the Lord gave to every
- 12:09man? He's going to show us this
- 12:10principle that God is the only one that can give the growth and
- 12:14all we do is plant in water. He's saying don't look at Paul,
- 12:18don't look at Apollo's, don't look at all of the wonderful men
- 12:24of faith who have come before us or even the ones that are in the
- 12:28world today or will come after us.
- 12:31Don't look at them. They are just conduits, friends.
- 12:37Anything good you see in those men is because of the goodness
- 12:40of God in Jesus Christ. There is nothing good in us and
- 12:44all of our righteousness is filthy rags.
- 12:47And let every man be a liar, friends, God is the only one
- 12:51that is good. And that is what Jesus Christ
- 12:54showed the rich young ruler when he called him good.
- 12:59He said there's no one good but God, and that is what you need
- 13:04to understand. Don't look at Paul, don't look
- 13:06at Apollo's. Look at Jesus Christ. 6 I have
- 13:14planted, Apollo's watered, but God gave the increase.
- 13:20You cannot make somebody grow in Christ.
- 13:25All you can do is plant the seed and water the seed.
- 13:30But God has to be the one to draw Him to Himself.
- 13:37And it is the miracle that is inside of that seed that we did
- 13:42not create. God created it through the
- 13:46breath of His mouth when He created all of the things of the
- 13:50world, friends, and that is no different for you and for me.
- 13:56We cannot even come to God unless He draws us to himself. 8
- 14:05Now he that plants and he that waters are one, and every man
- 14:10shall receive his own reward according to his labor.
- 14:14So here is a very amazing passage of Scripture.
- 14:19Underline it, highlight it. It shows the judgment seat of
- 14:24Christ. And this is after we are
- 14:28raptured and the world is left here for seven years during the
- 14:33tribulation, and we go up to meet Him in the clouds.
- 14:37And for seven years we have to suffer at the judgment of
- 14:44Christ. But it is not for salvific
- 14:47issues, friends. It is not to say if we're saved
- 14:50or unsaved. It is to receive our rewards for
- 14:54all the things that we did in this little lifetime that He
- 14:57gave us. And most of everything we do is
- 15:01wood, hay, and stubble. But only some things we will
- 15:05receive to take with us into all of eternity to throw at the feet
- 15:10of Jesus Christ. 9 For we are laborers together with God.
- 15:18You are God's husbandry. You are God's building.
- 15:22So here we go friends. This is what you need to
- 15:24understand, that God calls us into the harvest, but he is
- 15:28there with us. Friends, we are not alone.
- 15:31He doesn't send us out fatherless as orphans.
- 15:36He is there with us in the field.
- 15:38Praise God that we can do the work that He's called us to with
- 15:43joy. No matter how hard it is, we do
- 15:46it with joy because He's there with us and He is all that we
- 15:50long for and want. He's saying that we are the
- 15:55temple of God. Do you not know that you house
- 15:59God Almighty inside of you friends, and we are the bride of
- 16:05Christ? Do you not know that we need to
- 16:10adorn ourselves for our groom and fill our lamps and trim our
- 16:17Wicks as we wait expectantly on our groom to come and get us?
- 16:2510 According to the grace of God, which is given unto me as a
- 16:29wise master builder, I have laid the foundation, and another
- 16:34builds on it. But let every man take heed how
- 16:38he builds upon it. Jesus Christ is the chief
- 16:41cornerstone, and we build everything on that chief
- 16:46cornerstone. But the materials that we build
- 16:49with differ in the fact that if we're doing things to be
- 16:53recognized, it will be burned up.
- 16:55It's wood, hay, and stubble. But if we do things in secret
- 16:59and God rewards them openly, those things are the precious
- 17:03stones. 12 Now if any man builds upon this foundation, Gold,
- 17:13silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble. 13 Every man's
- 17:21work shall be made manifest, for the day shall declare it,
- 17:26because it shall be revealed by fire, and the fire shall try
- 17:31every man's work of what sort it is.
- 17:34That is the judgment seat of Christ.
- 17:37The believers will have to go through friends.
- 17:40He takes everything that you did from the moment that you put
- 17:43your faith in Him, everything you did from that moment
- 17:47forward, and He sets it on this fire.
- 17:49And most everything is burned up, but only that which is
- 17:55unable to be burned up you get to take with you.
- 17:59And those are the times that we didn't make it about self, that
- 18:03we didn't make it about recognition and reputation and
- 18:07pride and vanity, Friends, whenever we did things honestly
- 18:11for the Lord Jesus Christ, and He knows our motives and He
- 18:15knows our hearts and He knows what we are doing even when no
- 18:19one else sees it. Friends, He knows your very
- 18:22thoughts, friends, And the things that you didn't think
- 18:26anybody knew about. He saw.
- 18:29Good or bad he saw and he sees. 14 If any man's work abides
- 18:41which he has built upon it, he shall receive a reward.
- 18:46Rewards are built into the Christian faith and walk,
- 18:49friends. This is not faith by this is not
- 18:55salvation by works, friends, so that you can boast about all the
- 19:00things that you've done for God. It does not work that way.
- 19:05What you need to understand is that by and large, what gets us
- 19:12into heaven is Jesus Christ's blood in his blood alone and
- 19:18nothing else. That is salvation, and we don't
- 19:23need to try to add anything to it.
- 19:27But when it comes to our rewards, friends, that is based
- 19:32upon what we do. And James talks about it in his
- 19:36epistle. Whenever we can show our faith
- 19:39by our works, and faith without works is dead. 15 If any man's
- 19:51work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss, but he himself
- 19:56shall be saved yet so as by fire.
- 19:59These are the ones that enter into heaven as if they escaped
- 20:02out of a fire. Friends, they're just kicking
- 20:05the can down the road. They're there, they're in
- 20:09heaven. Praise God, they're not
- 20:10eternally separated from him, but they have no crown to lay it
- 20:17the master's feet. 16. Know you not that you are the
- 20:24temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?
- 20:31Think about it, friends, all the prophets of long, they long to
- 20:35see this day. Jesus Christ Himself said that
- 20:42there was no greater prophet than John the Baptist, but the
- 20:45least in the Kingdom of God is greater than Him.
- 20:49You are indwelled with the Holy Ghost.
- 20:52You are indwelled with God. He lives inside of you.
- 20:59Far be it from us to allow things into the temple that are
- 21:03idol worship and that are grieving the Holy Spirit.
- 21:08Do you not know? 17 If any man defiles the temple
- 21:14of God, him shall God destroy. For the temple of God is holy,
- 21:29which temple you are. He's called you to be holy
- 21:33because he is holy. We must take all of the things
- 21:40that we've allowed into the temple out into the streets and
- 21:44burn them. Friends, take all of the idol
- 21:48worship out. Friends, do not allow that into
- 21:52the temple. He says here that if we do, we
- 21:55will be destroyed. Do not defile the temple of God.
- 22:0118 Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seems to be
- 22:08wise in this world, let him become a fool that he may be
- 22:13wise. The way up is down, friends.
- 22:20The way to being exalted is humiliation, friends.
- 22:26We are fools for Christ. The only thing that we know is
- 22:30that we don't know anything. Christ and Christ crucified. 19
- 22:40For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God, for it is
- 22:44written, he takes the wise in their own craftiness.
- 22:49That's what happens, friends. If we're relying on our
- 22:56education, on the degrees that hang on the wall, the plaques,
- 23:01all the accolades, if we're relying on the praises of men,
- 23:05if we're relying on our stature, if we're relying upon our IQ and
- 23:11our wisdom, we will be dismayed 10 times out of 10 because there
- 23:16is nothing. There is no collective amount of
- 23:19wisdom. There is no collective amount of
- 23:23information. There is no collective amount of
- 23:29intelligence that ever could compare to God's wisdom and
- 23:37intelligence, friends, whether it is artificial or whether it
- 23:44is realistic, if it's a human level or if it is man made, that
- 23:56is only a fraction of all the wisdom of all time's sake, for
- 24:02all of creation, for all of man, woman, child that has ever come
- 24:09together, that was written down and books are programmed into
- 24:14computers. That is only a fraction of God's
- 24:18wisdom. You cannot outsmart and you
- 24:21cannot outpace Yahweh. Jesus is Yahweh, for the wisdom
- 24:34of this world is foolishness with God, and anybody who tries
- 24:40to explain God away will be caught in their own craftiness.
- 24:4520 And again the Lord knows the thoughts of the wise, that they
- 24:50are vain. Why do the nation's rage, the
- 24:57people's plot in vain? It is vanity, friends, the Lord
- 25:02laughs. God is in heaven, and he laughs
- 25:06when we try to explain Him away, when we try to get rid of him.
- 25:12You cannot get rid of God. God will have the last say, and
- 25:21that is a period. It's vanity if we try to get rid
- 25:28of God. The Lord knows our thoughts. 21
- 25:33Therefore let no man glory in men, for all things are yours.
- 25:3822 Whether Paul or Apollo's Cephas or the world or life or
- 25:45death or things present or things to come, all are yours.
- 25:51We'll end on 23 And you are Christ, and Christ is God.
- 25:57So this is what you need to understand is that when Christ
- 26:01suffered at the hands of Pilate and he suffered a criminal's
- 26:06death on the cross, and he snatched the keys to death and
- 26:09hell. What you need to understand is
- 26:12that your inheritance is the same as Christ and that you will
- 26:15inherit eternal life. And that is not just floating
- 26:19around on clouds singing hymns, friends, no eye has ever seen,
- 26:26nor ear heard, nor mind can conceive eternity and what God
- 26:35has planned for us. He said I went to prepare a
- 26:38place for you, and where He is. We will go, friends, we will be
- 26:43with Him, and it'll be far more glorious than what you could
- 26:47ever try to conceive in your finite mind.
- 26:55We even have power over death. Death has no hold on us.
- 27:02We make death our servant. Friends, do not fear the very
- 27:06chariot that God chooses to come and usher you away into His
- 27:11presence. Get rid of this fear of man.
- 27:19Get rid of this fear of death. Get rid of this fear of disease.
- 27:24Get rid of this fear of the world.
- 27:27Get rid of the fear, friends, Fear and faith cannot
- 27:31cohabitate. We increase our faith today over
- 27:35fear. It is all yours and He has given
- 27:39you eternal life and the greatest gift that you could
- 27:42have ever received is the forgiveness of sins.
- 27:48I hope that you've been blessed by this amazing chapter here in
- 27:51God's Word. I love you, so does God.
- 28:06I'm praying for you. We'll see you back here
- 28:14tomorrow. God bless you.
