- 0:54of God all in one show. So let's dive in.
- 1:17Before we jump in, Pastor Mark wants to share something really
- 1:20exciting. And we had a great company that
- 1:22wanted to jump in and sponsor us in some way.
- 1:25And we don't really do sponsorships, but we found a way
- 1:27that they could come in and help support the ministry.
- 1:30Pastor Mark will tell you about it more.
- 1:32Well, we're trying. Something new.
- 1:33We have not historically had sponsors for any of the.
- 1:38Content that we put out through real faith.
- 1:40And the Bible teaching is still free.

- 1:45We want to do the best we can and so happy to share this new

- 2:46All right gents, we have a fun one for you.
- 2:48A bit of shock and awe on this one.
- 2:51Let me just read it for you. How does chat GB TS new erotica
- 2:54content offer opportunities to share the gospel?
- 2:582 great theologians discussed with a philosopher, Brandon
- 3:01Ricoba. So let me ask my two favorite
- 3:04pastors. So, is there an opportunity to
- 3:06share the gospel in the AI porn industry?
- 3:10Who even came up with this? I mean, you know, when, when you
- 3:13have these meetings. Got work.
- 3:15Some guy around the table's like, I know a guy who's been
- 3:19watching ChatGPT erotica, and he thinks there's a way to use this
- 3:24for Jesus. Yeah.
- 3:26And it's like, well, I wonder who that might be?
- 3:29I think you'd catch an STD looking at any of their search
- 3:32histories that that say if anyone involved with this that's
- 3:36don't even open their computer, hold it in a distance, hit it
- 3:40with a flamethrower, you don't open that thing up.
- 3:42But I do think there is great gospel opportunity attached to
- 3:45this. I would love to share the gospel
- 3:47with the staff of Christianity Today.
- 3:50I'd love to share the gospel with Mike Cosper.
- 3:54Anyone attached to this project, anyone that thought this was OK,
- 3:57I would love them to meet Jesus because they definitely do not
- 4:01know Jesus. This is perverted.
- 4:03This is gross. I don't even know what to think
- 4:05about this. I've no there.
- 4:08I don't know what to say. This is awful.
- 4:09Awful. Photo of a guy with the goggles
- 4:12but we can't see his hands. And we don't want to.
- 4:18That's not a request, Senator, that this is not a request.
- 4:22This this is like this, this, this would be great at the
- 4:25Babylon being and you know, this is the equivalent saying how
- 4:29does a strip club provide a gospel opportunity answer?
- 4:34It doesn't. The exit sign is as close as you
- 4:37get. The great thing I'm being told
- 4:39is that it has gotten 13 likes by the 250,000 people that have
- 4:44seen this article so. Far.
- 4:45That's one of their wives flicking 13 tires.
- 4:48That's it. That is, I mean, but there's
- 4:53nothing else to talk about. That's the worst ratio probably
- 4:57in Internet history, probably nearly 300,000 views and 13
- 5:01likes. Yeah, the pervs aren't clicking.
- 5:03They're like, yeah, life's going to know.
- 5:07And it's all, it's all Christianity Today staff.
- 5:10There's 13 people that they're required to.
- 5:12Yeah. We occasionally do that to our
- 5:14staff, but you have to like this.
- 5:15Christianity did today. Christian Today.
- 5:19Our we'll just move on. Yes, our thoughts and prayers
- 5:22are with you. They are.
- 5:23They are. Yes.
- 5:25And then another great St. We would love to roll her clip.
- 5:29Candace Owens most recent really fun debacle with an interview.
- 5:35I just keep hearing Ozzy Osbourne's crazy train.
- 5:38In my mind, I feel like everybody's riding that train
- 5:42today. Oh, for sure.
- 5:44OK. When you say you believe that
- 5:47Charlie Kirk was betrayed by someone close to him, what do
- 5:51you mean? I think that in the coming
- 5:55weeks, there's going to be a lot of financial reports that are
- 5:57coming out. And I first and foremost do not
- 6:00believe that Tyler Robinson killed Charlie Kirk.
- 6:02I'm going to be very clear on that, whether he was involved.
- 6:06I think the answer is yes. I think that's obvious and.
- 6:12Your basis for saying he didn't act alone is what?
- 6:16I don't know, maybe the weird Fed messages that were concocted
- 6:19out of thin air that had no time stamp and were written like they
- 6:22were were speaking in 1822, among other things, their lack
- 6:27of an ability to answer any basic questions about what took
- 6:30place. Do you?
- 6:30Have any proof that the messages were made-up?
- 6:32Because that would be easily, yeah, proven.
- 6:34Yeah, but they didn't put timestamps on them and Discord
- 6:37came out and said they didn't exist, that this.
- 6:38Was supposedly a text messages, not discord messages.
- 6:41It's my understanding from the indictment.
- 6:44I I actually did not read that they were text messages.
- 6:46The indictment caused them text messages.
- 6:49What would it be like? Like, like the feds are like on
- 6:51a computer? Like, yeah, I'd bring it out
- 6:53back in exactly what it is. The feds made-up the text
- 6:56messages. But you don't have anyone from
- 6:58like the FBI telling you that or what?
- 6:59I forge missed. OK, No.
- 7:02Has anyone leaked? And Tyler Robinson, has anyone
- 7:06said to you, even off the record, like, yeah, we faked
- 7:09these? I have very strong sources
- 7:12everywhere on both sides. Well, I look forward to seeing
- 7:16the evidence of that. Sure.
- 7:18Because when we see keep talking about evidence, it's like, who's
- 7:20going? To so what's the point?
- 7:22Why, why is why? Why does she just keep going
- 7:25with if what feels like no evidence?
- 7:28So she's lost touch with reality.
- 7:34And you know, honestly, from a pastoral perspective, I feel
- 7:38sorry for her. I pray for her.
- 7:41If she has a husband who is present or she's got a pastor
- 7:44who cares, she needs to get an evaluation.
- 7:48And honestly, she needs to take a break because she's become
- 7:51obsessed with Charlie Kirk in a way that is really unhealthy for
- 7:55a married woman. And also, she's tried to make
- 7:59herself the de facto defender and spokesperson for the legacy
- 8:03of Charlie Kirk. And that is the sole discretion
- 8:07of his wife, Erica, who did an incredible job on her interview
- 8:11this week. And she's a really remarkable,
- 8:13incredible grieving widow. But this is the problem with the
- 8:18Internet is the crazier you are, the more attention you get, but
- 8:23the less helpful you are. And so in ministry as a pastor,
- 8:27our goal is always, you know, oral pastors like, how do we be
- 8:30the most helpful? And on the Internet, it's how do
- 8:32I get the most attention? Well, those are two wildly
- 8:36different things. And things like this, they get a
- 8:38lot of attention, but they don't provide any help whatsoever.
- 8:42Does it push you to an extreme, that carrot of attention that
- 8:45always does that? Because I mean, for years
- 8:48Candace has put out in content. I haven't ever watched tons of
- 8:52her content, but just to drip over the years it's been good
- 8:56stuff overall of OK, so it it this isn't a newer Candace.
- 9:01That's just wild conspiratorial conjecture without any hard
- 9:05evidence correct. Is this is something's happened
- 9:08recently, right? Yeah, I mean, as a pastor, if
- 9:11this was somebody, let me just ask you this.
- 9:13If this person was attending your church as a pastor, what
- 9:18would your what would your encouragement be to this married
- 9:21couple? Yeah, immediately unplugged from
- 9:23all this stuff. Let's take a retreat.
- 9:24Let's on put. Yeah, it it'd be that, It'd be
- 9:27that this is overtaken, you know?
- 9:30Yeah, and it's and it becomes, it becomes conspiratorial in a
- 9:35way that really you're living a fear based paranoid life.
- 9:39You know, I mean, when you reach the point where you're like the
- 9:42guy who killed Charlie didn't kill Charlie.
- 9:44And, you know, I have sources from the feds.
- 9:46I mean, and I think she says, you know, I counted 3 times in
- 9:50that short clip. You're at a point where you've
- 9:53sort of lost touch with reality. And when people live online and
- 9:58they live in conspiracy theories and they live in chats and
- 10:02comments, eventually those people start to develop mental
- 10:06health problems and there's a break from reality.
- 10:09And, and what we're seeing here, I mean, I, I hope we're not
- 10:12seeing this, but I think what we're seeing is literally the
- 10:14implosion of a human being online.
- 10:17You know this is like watching a car wreck in slow motion.
- 10:20Well, I don't like this. I do sympathize with.
- 10:23I don't have trust for a lot of our institutions of power and
- 10:27media art. Yeah.
- 10:29So she's scratching an itch that I share as well, but this looks
- 10:33crazy. But when Erica Kirk says, you
- 10:36know, she said in the interview that she did with Jesse Waters
- 10:39that she's confident that Tyler Robinson was the killer of her
- 10:42husband, well, let's let her be the authority on that, she said.
- 10:47I've seen all the evidence and, you know, a missed quarter.
- 10:50But like if someone is killed, the person who has the authority
- 10:55on that assassination is the wife.
- 10:58And, and how confident would you have to be to turn your son in
- 11:04that he was the assassin. Dad turned him in, probably for
- 11:09a death penalty. Well, and is a Mormon youth
- 11:11pastor who I think also was somehow connected to law
- 11:15enforcement and so. A dad's not going to live into a
- 11:18government conspiracy and turn a son.
- 11:19And his dad's a cop, right? He was.
- 11:21Yeah, he was. OK, and this is it too, Like let
- 11:23it play out in the courts. Let the evidence be presented,
- 11:26let things run their course. But this is the doubling down
- 11:30and and this is where at the end of the day, let me ask you this,
- 11:34Pastor John, what would be better use of your time as a
- 11:38human being than following this in great detail?
- 11:42Man, insert almost anything. I mean, we've been embroiled in
- 11:46a terrible culture war of we're losing trust in all of our
- 11:51institutions of power. Families are being utterly
- 11:54destroyed of what you you could, you could throw a dart
- 11:57blindfolded and hit something that would be more edifying than
- 12:01this. I don't see any benefit to this.
- 12:03And now if there was truth to it, present your hard evidence
- 12:06in total presented not. I have my leaks, I have my
- 12:09sources. Trust me.
- 12:11And here's my like, I think I think give us hard evidence
- 12:15right here back, back. If you have it, deliver it.
- 12:17And if you don't shut up. So.
- 12:19You alluded to a minute ago, you live.
- 12:22You live in a world. I mean, you're in the gun world
- 12:25and you are far right conservative.
- 12:28You're not crazy far right, but I'm sure you have a lot of
- 12:31dealings with a lot of very far right people that are looking
- 12:35looking for the conspiracies. How does a Christian father, you
- 12:38know, CERN that for their family in this time what to believe,
- 12:41what not to believe? Where do you get your source of
- 12:44truth? How are you leading through?
- 12:46That it's good, you know, in terms of where I am on spectrum
- 12:50of left, right or far. I, I really like, I really love
- 12:54America. I'm a constitutionalist, I'm a
- 12:57patriot. I love Bible.
- 12:58I love family. And a lot of people, they want
- 13:02to label you by saying you're far right, you're you're a crazy
- 13:06over here. I'm like, I love family, I
- 13:09believe in our constitution, Declaration of Independence.
- 13:13That's it. Nothing, nothing insane, nothing
- 13:16that's going to get huge clicks on Instagram.
- 13:19I I love Bible and that's my standard of truth right there.
- 13:22And and so I would like people to stop being crazy all the
- 13:26time. Practice a little bit of
- 13:28discernment. Let's suspend judgment before we
- 13:31tribalistically all jump on bandwagons, which is what's
- 13:34happening. It's a thing happens immediately
- 13:37choose your side. Whose side are you on?
- 13:38Go all, end we and now. Double down in spite of the
- 13:42evidence. That's right, and now it's
- 13:43confirmation bias. No matter what you see, you're
- 13:45going to see it through the lens of what you've already pre
- 13:47established in your snap judgment that happened the
- 13:50moment the headline broke. Nobody's reading deeply, no one
- 13:53saying, well, let's see where the investigation goes.
- 13:56And so that is a real big problem because that means we're
- 13:59tribalistically ready to grab pitchforks and torches, picket
- 14:04anybody that happens to land a little bit outside of our tribe.
- 14:08And it just continues to snowball until it breaks.
- 14:11All alliance, all trust, all fellowship.
- 14:13And it it's it's a race to the bottom.
- 14:16It's just going to be the utter destruction of everything while
- 14:20you get huge views. Yeah.
- 14:22Well, and, and in that too, if you, if you are a Christian or
- 14:25claim to be a Christian, you've got to think about things like
- 14:28Jesus says the Satan is the father of lies.
- 14:31It's like, am I, am I, am I intentionally, frequently lying?
- 14:35Then that would be bad. Jesus says that we'll be judged
- 14:38for every word we speak. If you claim Christ, you've at
- 14:42least got to begin. We talked about this a little
- 14:44bit yesterday with, you know, some fear of the Lord, that it
- 14:47doesn't matter what the clicks are and it doesn't matter what
- 14:51the platform, you know, rewards. It matters if I'm claiming
- 14:55Christ, that I'm trying to conduct myself in a way that is
- 14:58truthful, knowing that I'm going to stand before him and give an
- 15:02account for all of the content that I'm disseminating.
- 15:05And so to me, this is there's just a practical point where,
- 15:09yeah, we don't trust those who are traditional legacy media,
- 15:12rightly and understandably so. But if someone claims to be a
- 15:16Christian, they should at least be making an attempt to act or
- 15:20live functionally as a Christian.
- 15:24That's good and and just wild speculation and untruths and
- 15:28lies. There's nothing in the Bible
- 15:30that supports that. There's nothing in the Christian
- 15:32life that would promote that. If she's got hard evidence, I'd
- 15:35like to see it and I'm open to reason show it to me and and
- 15:38then we'll we'll go from there. And if not, this is not helpful.
- 15:42This is destroying. This is yeah, this is harmful.
- 15:45It feels like an attack really on the right because there's
- 15:47becoming too many divisions in the right.
- 15:49And you said that when you're when you're losing, everyone's
- 15:52unified. But when you're winning, all of
- 15:53a sudden it's like, oh, there's factions of the right and.
- 15:57It's it's tribalism, it's tribal chiefs and tribes.
- 16:00And it's like, there's Tucker Carlson, there's Candace Owens,
- 16:04there's, you know, Steve Dace is a friend of mine and I
- 16:07appreciate him. There's Glenn Beck.
- 16:09There's different people who have different tribes and some
- 16:13are far better at telling the truth and being consistent and
- 16:17living within their their Christian convictions and others
- 16:21are wildly out of bounds. Where you see us being in a few
- 16:25years with where the right, I mean, Charlie was really a
- 16:28unifier here. We've lost Charlie.
- 16:31Put a few years on the clock until the next election.
- 16:35Where? Where will the right be?
- 16:37Well, right now it seems to be reading The Lord of the Flies
- 16:40and thinking that's a good playbook.
- 16:42And So what you've got is tribes that are now fighting over
- 16:46market share, meaning they've lost sight of the nation and the
- 16:49good of the whole. And, and again, like we talked
- 16:52about offline landed, like when you're the when you're the
- 16:54minority, you hold together. So like right now with the
- 16:56election in New York, like everybody who was not a
- 16:59Republican hung together. As soon as you're in power, it's
- 17:04really hard to maintain humility and unity.
- 17:08And and this is just the, the default of human nature is just
- 17:12to to steal, kill and destroy. I mean, that's just the default
- 17:15of the flesh. And So what I'm seeing right
- 17:17now, even among younger, you know, people on the right, my
- 17:21concern is always this, are you a conservative who says you're a
- 17:25Christian or you a Christian who has your convictions push you
- 17:30toward conservatism? And there's a big difference
- 17:33because if it's Christ and then your political convictions,
- 17:38conservatism, then you have a fear of God.
- 17:40You're under authority. You're submitting to scriptures,
- 17:44you're submitting to right spiritual authority, which is
- 17:47going to keep you from being really dangerous if you are a
- 17:50conservative and just name Christ, but there's really no
- 17:54authority over you, No Fear of God, no respect of Scripture, no
- 17:58participation in a local church community, no honoring of any
- 18:01spiritual authority. I think you're very, very, very
- 18:04dangerous, right? And, and I think that that's
- 18:07where you're starting to see those who are very, very
- 18:10conservative claiming Christ. You wonder if they actually know
- 18:13Christ. Here's something when I see
- 18:15somebody who's a conservative should be home team and they
- 18:19claim Christ and they have the agenda of Christ, so to speak,
- 18:24but they don't really have the fruits of the spirit.
- 18:26And so one one thing that irritates me about Candace Owens
- 18:28is she is converted to Christianity, she claims, but
- 18:32every time I see her, if you just pause the screen at any
- 18:35moment, she has this look of just disgust, this contempt.
- 18:39And I'm like how that there's not a huge talking point there.
- 18:41I'm just saying of like I would, I would like us to grow to have
- 18:46the love, gentleness, kindness, goodness.
- 18:50I would like the spirit of Christ as well to couple with
- 18:54our agenda. And when I don't see the fruits
- 18:56of the spirit with somebody who is espousing the agenda of
- 18:59Christ, I grow a little concerned.
- 19:01I'm like, where are you going to be?
- 19:02Because when I'm, I like to, I've got a bunch of different
- 19:06people that I'll listen to and I don't need to agree completely
- 19:10with everyone. I listen to a lot of people
- 19:12today were so tribalistic and mentality of like, Oh, I like
- 19:15Mark Driscoll until you said that one thing and now you're
- 19:18dead to me. I'm canceling you.
- 19:20I'm never listening to you. I'm going to take to the
- 19:22Internet and and if you find one thing someone doesn't.
- 19:25Like, that's just a hypothetical.
- 19:27It's just a hyper. It's never happened you.
- 19:29Say right before the show, you agree with everything you've
- 19:31never said. I don't agree.
- 19:32It's. Obviously I don't agree with
- 19:35everything thing you've ever said.
- 19:36It's like I don't agree with everything I've ever said.
- 19:39We sent mugs to his house because he's like, I don't agree
- 19:41with most things I've said or a lot of her I've said her stuff.
- 19:45It's like. Who can how can we possibly have
- 19:48any report any unity if the litmus test is is I need to
- 19:52agree with everything you say and if not, I'm going to
- 19:56unsubscribe trash you of like. Here, that's your MO.
- 20:01You cannot be married. Yeah, that's right.
- 20:03That's right. But what I'm seeing now is I'm
- 20:06pretty good, I think, at listening to a whole bunch of
- 20:09voices and a lot of different opinions.
- 20:12And I can like, oh, I like that. I don't like that.
- 20:15And it's a bit of a buffet, but I don't get viscerally upset.
- 20:17That's. Discernment.
- 20:18Right. But now a lot of our influencers
- 20:22I'm seeing is this, they're grow, they're going to these
- 20:24extremes where I'm like, I can't follow you there, man.
- 20:27I got to unfollow and I'm not the unfollow guy.
- 20:29What would be an extreme I'm? Pretty I love Tucker Carlson
- 20:35historically, but of like Nick Fuentes stuff and celebrating
- 20:40Stalin and about that. That's where I don't like that
- 20:43Tucker gave him that right hand of fellowship and man, I'm, I'm,
- 20:48I'm up to even right this moment.
- 20:50I still am a member of his network.
- 20:53And I'm like, do I turn that off of like, I really don't like
- 20:56where is Tucker going? Yeah, where's.
- 20:58I don't need all of his opinions.
- 20:59I don't have to approve all of his guests.
- 21:01He does his thing. It's a bit of a buffet, but if
- 21:03he's going to exalt someone like that, I've got a problem.
- 21:06So I have a problem with evil. Yeah.
- 21:10And a a profoundly racist human being that has done nothing is
- 21:16evil. Yeah.
- 21:17And as a Christian, you have to call evil evil if you want to
- 21:21maintain any dignity and you want to have any respectability.
- 21:26And so, you know, to me, like racism at that level is evil.
- 21:32And I'm, and I'm talking, you know, just the overt statements
- 21:36of, I mean, it's just, it's racist, it's evil, it's ungodly,
- 21:42it's wrong, it's dangerous. And it is not to be, you know,
- 21:48softly handled and promoted. Not if you claim Christ.
- 21:53And again, if you don't know Christ, I don't expect as much
- 21:56from you. But for those who claim Christ,
- 21:58the expectation has to be higher.
- 22:01So both of you have sons that you, you've launched your sons,
- 22:05you are raising sons. It feels like the the world of
- 22:09nuances is starting to go out the window.
- 22:12It's like you said, you're taking from this that like, but
- 22:14it's harder with how extreme people are getting.
- 22:17What would be the advice both of you would give to your one piece
- 22:21of advice on discerning this culture and who to listen to?
- 22:26Oh, people won't like mine? You want to go first.
- 22:28Yeah, so you know Paul says just seek to live a quiet life and
- 22:32stay busy with your hands. And you know there so much of
- 22:37what is information is distraction.
- 22:40Like find your girl, marry her, find your house, purchase it,
- 22:46have your kids, raise them, join your church, serve there, keep
- 22:51yourself busy with your first responsibilities.
- 22:54A lot of what we get worked about, we have no jurisdiction
- 22:58order. Like, you know, I, there's a lot
- 23:01of things you can get upset about.
- 23:02Like is there anything you can do about it?
- 23:04No. Then take that energy and put it
- 23:05toward the people and things that God gives you
- 23:08responsibility for. And, and I would say especially
- 23:11for, for young men who get into the political sphere and older
- 23:14men to get into the political sphere.
- 23:16It's like, turn your phone off, pick up your Bible, go play with
- 23:19your kids, go play with your grandkids, go make somebody
- 23:22else's life better. You know, do some things, not
- 23:25just react to some things. Yeah, I love it.
- 23:29All right, John. I'm introducing my kids to the
- 23:32world. I'm letting them know I'm not
- 23:34hiding them under a rock. I'm the one introducing them to
- 23:37all this stuff. And so the stuff that's
- 23:39happening, even a lot of the grotesque stuff, all the rainbow
- 23:43flag agenda, I'm, I'm letting my 11 and 13 year old know what's
- 23:47out there, how we respond to that, how we filter through it.
- 23:50But the thing I'm not doing is giving them phones with high
- 23:53speed Internet access so that they can tackle all the world's
- 23:57issues and all the world's perversions.
- 24:00Like they could log on anywhere they could, they could log into
- 24:03Christianity Today and have unbridled access.
- 24:06Do you know how perverted it's becoming?
- 24:09Q The opening shot that we had for this show, they have like,
- 24:13there's all kinds of really grotesque stuff out there and
- 24:16and kids are not meant to process the horrors of the
- 24:20world. The moment you hand a child a
- 24:22cell phone, their childhood is over.
- 24:25The moment you hand a kid to phone their kid, their childhood
- 24:28is over. And you get to decide when that
- 24:30is. You want to do it at 9:00 going
- 24:32to do it. You get to decide.
- 24:33And so my 11 and 13 year old we we have a happy home and a
- 24:38refuge. We sing worship songs as a
- 24:41family and and we. Play guitar.
- 24:43Hypothetically. Try to play guitar.
- 24:48This is discerning and fair, but you know, about a year ago I
- 24:52started well, I stuck at singing.
- 24:54I do want to lead my family and worship.
- 24:56What can I do? I could do guitar.
- 24:58I'm like, I can't do a guitar. I'm like, I will learn guitar
- 25:00from my family. And so we have a great time and
- 25:02we do that and we read books and we have lots of fires and we go
- 25:06for walks and we go for rides and we have a blast of game
- 25:10nights and making food and, you know, all kinds of fun stuff.
- 25:16And it's good happy stuff of I engage in the war of ideas out
- 25:22there as a man. And then I come home to my
- 25:24refuge where my kids are able to be safe and I educate them about
- 25:26it because one day they're going to need to be strong enough to
- 25:29contend the battlefield of ideas.
- 25:30And that's not now, that's later.
- 25:32So you spend all this time to make them strong, prepare them,
- 25:35and don't let them get taken out by all these pernicious
- 25:37ideologies that will crush your kids before they even get in the
- 25:41fight. You wouldn't send a dude off the
- 25:44street straight to war, you'd send them to basic training and
- 25:46AIT and wherever else you wanted to go to get them trained up so
- 25:50that you don't immediately throw them into combat and they die
- 25:52because they have no training. Similarly, our kids are growing
- 25:56up and before they're men, I want them trained and
- 25:58strengthened so that they can interact in a dangerous world.
- 26:02So good. So good.
- 26:03Thank you. And you mean mine not Pastor
- 26:05Mark, just his was OK. Mine was tense.
- 26:08I get intense. It's like people we're.
- 26:10Taking up We're drinking our coffee like.
- 26:12Yeah, I mean I had all the grandkids last night, so I still
- 26:15have the grandkid hangover. They were on your hard for about
- 26:175 hours. Sure, sit down.
- 26:19You're a great granddad. It's so fun to see you interact
- 26:23with grandkids. It'd be shocking for a lot of
- 26:27your critics to see you down on the floor playing with
- 26:30grandkids. And it's super fun.
- 26:33Super toddlers. It's so great.
- 26:35It's so great y'all understand each other.
- 26:37We do. We like the same.
- 26:39Scene Hey, India is an intellectual.
- 26:42So good, it's good, it's good. All right, so fun thing happened
- 26:48the last month. The government shutdown.
- 26:50Crazy the world kept going. You heard about it.
- 26:53I couldn't. I didn't see it.
- 26:55We didn't experience it in any. Way.
- 26:57So I guess if you're traveling trying to get on an airplane,
- 26:59then you noticed it otherwise. Yeah, yeah.
- 27:02Or you're one of the one in eight people that are on SNAP
- 27:06benefits and that's what we want to talk about.
- 27:08So the government is providing food benefits to one in eight
- 27:13people. Wow. 12% it's that's in in
- 27:17places like New Mexico, it's 21% of the.
- 27:20Population. And Christians are divided on
- 27:23this issue because should we be helping the poor feed them?
- 27:28Should if somebody doesn't work, should they not eat?
- 27:32So it's a nuance. I don't know if it's a nuance.
- 27:35Should should the government be the one stepping in and
- 27:38providing? I feel like that's probably
- 27:39where the discussion really lies.
- 27:41So, so the SNAP benefits and I pulled up the Pew data today so
- 27:45I, you know, appear prepared, but it started during World War
- 27:512 when so many supplies were being sent overseas for the war
- 27:56effort that things were tough at the homeland.
- 28:00Then once the war was over, it was originally, you know,
- 28:03welfare, food stamps, different terms, but then it was
- 28:07reinstituted during Lyndon B Johnson and the great increase
- 28:12in government. And so, you know, in the history
- 28:15of our nation, this is actually fairly new, but for some people,
- 28:19they think it's been around forever because they are multi
- 28:21generational dependent, right? And and I pulled it up too.
- 28:26It's interesting. So the majority of people that
- 28:28are receiving the benefits, their ages 25 to 44 and 45 to
- 28:3364, those are the two largest categories.
- 28:35So it's not just senior citizens and elderly people.
- 28:39In addition, this is a wild one. If it's a single mother, you're
- 28:43looking at 46% are for 46% of the recipients are single
- 28:48mothers. Only 5% are single fathers.
- 28:52So statistically, if you have a dad, you don't more fathers,
- 28:57less government. If you have a dad, we don't need
- 29:00this program. If you don't have a, a godly,
- 29:03you know, a functional male present, then the government
- 29:06steps in to fill the gap. But then it creates multiple
- 29:09generations of dependency. So if all of a sudden that is
- 29:13not needed, then men just get women pregnant or they exit
- 29:16their marriage, they abandoned their children, and then the
- 29:19government has to come in and fill the gap.
- 29:21But now you've got multiple generations that are being
- 29:23raised with no strong male presence and no father figure
- 29:26and no provider, which just creates generations of the
- 29:29problem. And so, well, it may seem nice,
- 29:32there is a, you know, there is this sentimentality of like,
- 29:36will we provide something? We're meeting a need, yes, but
- 29:38are we, are we extending the problem by meeting the need?
- 29:42There's an interesting book called When Helping Hurts and it
- 29:45talks about development in foreign countries where
- 29:48missionaries would go in and they'd meet all the needs.
- 29:50But then the people didn't have any entrepreneurialism, they
- 29:53didn't have any self motivation, they didn't take on any self
- 29:57responsibility. And so the the wild thing is too
- 30:01just for data. And then we can get into the
- 30:03theological of it is in fiscal year 2022.
- 30:08It's larger now, but this is the latest data from the Pew
- 30:10Research. The government spent 119 billion
- 30:14on SNAP and SNAP is one of the largest federal social welfare
- 30:20programs. It is it is right, right there
- 30:25with Medicaid. And here's what's wild It's
- 30:29similar in amount to veterans benefits.
- 30:34Wow. So SNAP and veterans benefits
- 30:37are corollary in the national budget.
- 30:41And so from the from the Bible standpoint, the Bible says
- 30:46nothing about the government feeding people.
- 30:49Doesn't historically most governments like the government
- 30:53in Egypt that was against Moses? They're starving people.
- 30:58Herod tried to kill the children, not feed the children.
- 31:02Daniel is taken captive by the Babylonians.
- 31:05Historically, the government is an enemy of God and has no
- 31:09obligation to do godly things because it's so ungodly.
- 31:13And the problem with most Christians, they read the Bible
- 31:16and they think that all the commands are for the government.
- 31:18It's not for the government. Historically, the way that needs
- 31:22are met is first and foremost, there's a lot of pressure put on
- 31:25men to feed their families. The Bible says if a man does not
- 31:28provide for the needs of his family, he's denied the faith
- 31:30and he's worse than an unbeliever.
- 31:32So the first responsibility there needs to be a culture.
- 31:35If you're going to be biblical, there has to be a cultural
- 31:38pressure put on men to be protectors and providers of
- 31:40women and children. It's good.
- 31:41The Bible also says that if you don't work, you don't eat.
- 31:45And so, you know, unless you have some sort of medical
- 31:48condition or you know, you're incapable of contributing, you
- 31:52shouldn't be a dependent. You should be a contributor in
- 31:55some way. Furthermore, you know, if we're
- 31:57going to give people benefits, we also have an incredible
- 32:01number of remote government jobs.
- 32:02And my question is, if you're going to get benefits, and for
- 32:05the average person, it's just under $200, for a household,
- 32:09it's over $300 a month. Can we make you a fractional
- 32:12employee with some sort of remote work so that in addition
- 32:16to getting the benefits, you're also contributing into the
- 32:18welfare of others? Because we have so many remote
- 32:21jobs as they're not some way of giving you the dignity as a
- 32:25human being of contributing and earning.
- 32:29That's good. What I like about Snap is, is
- 32:33for the outlier, for the one who's really in dire straits, an
- 32:36emergency to be able to keep that gal and her little kids
- 32:42alive until we figure out a better way of sales
- 32:46sustainability. Because what I don't like about
- 32:49Snap is is it can on the one hand wheeled.
- 32:52This is just to help. We're just redistributing.
- 32:55We're helping. It makes effectively a welfare
- 32:58nation. It can create a cycle of poverty
- 33:02that just rolls from one generation to the next, which is
- 33:04exactly what it's doing. And it can enslave people.
- 33:07And furthermore, especially an able bodied young man who could
- 33:10go out and work, but realizes I could make more filing for SNAP.
- 33:15I'll get fed and I can just play video games and do nothing
- 33:19because that's happening in Massive Groves.
- 33:21And as soon as a man accepts A handout, there's some piece of
- 33:25his dignity is that is lost. And the more he accepts handout
- 33:29after handout, the more unrecoverable that is.
- 33:33And you've effectually made him a slave to a government and to a
- 33:37handout when really a better solution would be the solution
- 33:40that has been there for millennia.
- 33:42And that's the church provides for immediate needs.
- 33:45But it's not just the handout of food.
- 33:47It's coupled with the freedom mentality, that's coupled with
- 33:50work with coupled with value. It's coupled with support and
- 33:54council. So it's not just a handout in
- 33:56perpetuity forever. That creates a cycle of
- 34:00enslavement, victimhood mentality.
- 34:03But instead the church will do a far, far better job as it always
- 34:07has in feeding people. And then it's the free giving.
- 34:12It's a charitable giving rather than the government seizing tax
- 34:16dollars and redistributing them, which is not charity.
- 34:20That's taking from other folks. And it's a part of it is you.
- 34:26There is a responsibility on the church, but you know, pulses and
- 34:29Galatians to do good, but first to the household of faith.
- 34:33And so it's it's Christians looking after brothers and
- 34:36sisters in Christ. And it's also family members and
- 34:38extended family. And so, you know, to me, if
- 34:41there is going to be government, it needs to be last resort, not
- 34:44first resort. And the question is, do you have
- 34:46any extended family or are you willing to work?
- 34:48Do you have any immediate or extended family?
- 34:51Are you part of a faith community?
- 34:53Because like, I'll get criticized a lot because I
- 34:56don't, I don't talk a lot about, you know, these meeting of
- 35:00social needs. But like for me personally, as a
- 35:03pastor, like every Tuesday night and Wednesday night, I've got
- 35:06men's Bible study. I've got over 900 men coming and
- 35:09I'm teaching them to only sleep with a woman who's their wife
- 35:14and to bring children into the world.
- 35:17And it's their responsibility to provide for and protect those
- 35:20children. If those 900 men, I'll do what I
- 35:23am telling them to do. That's, you know, 900 wives and
- 35:27maybe 3000 kids that are all going to get fed.
- 35:31I can put a box of food together and I can go feed somebody,
- 35:34which is good. Or I can teach 900 men to feed
- 35:37their families, their kids and grandkids.
- 35:40And then if those men teach their sons to do that, and those
- 35:43men teach their grandsons to do that, well now we've fed 100,000
- 35:47children. That's right.
- 35:49With the men's ministry, but nobody thinks that that is, you
- 35:52know, being charitable or gracious or generous.
- 35:54It's like it is. Yeah.
- 35:57It's it's actually fixing the problem, not just meeting it.
- 36:00That's right. That's good.
- 36:01So you will talk about outliers that would need help.
- 36:03Who? Who would those be for?
- 36:05Somebody disabled. Somebody's got chronic medical
- 36:08illness, for heaven's sake. A veteran that comes back from
- 36:12combat with some, you know, some horrible medical condition that
- 36:18is taken away, their ability to do what they're used to doing.
- 36:22Where there's an orphans, where there's an.
- 36:24Orphans, Yeah, children. Like I'm pro-life, pro kid, I
- 36:27mean children. But you know what we're talking
- 36:29about when we're talking about multiple generations that have
- 36:33been on the system, then the system isn't serving them, it's
- 36:36enabling them 100. Percent thank you pastor Mark I
- 36:42totally agree I think it's great that the government shut down
- 36:45and it unearths an issue that I think we should talk about the
- 36:49church should talk about the role of the church should be
- 36:51talked about. Pastor should step up and lead
- 36:53their people, lead their men, call them to something greater.
- 36:56And there's something awesome about providing for a wife and a
- 37:00child. And you always say men.
- 37:02Dr. Straighter under a load of responsibility and taking a
- 37:07government handout, playing video games, using it as a bit
- 37:10of a cop out is very unhelpful. Another government story?
- 37:16Shocking. I'll interview you on this one
- 37:18if that's OK All right, so this week they floated the idea of
- 37:22going to a 50 year mortgage. Most Americans are probably on
- 37:27an adjustable rate mortgage or a 30 year mortgage would be my
- 37:29guess. And so and this would open the
- 37:33opportunity for new people enter into the housing market, but
- 37:36especially younger generations. Your background is business, you
- 37:40like finance and investment and you're a real estate agent and
- 37:43you're a young home buyer. So 50 year mortgages, good idea,
- 37:47bad idea. What would your recommendation
- 37:48be? Great idea.
- 37:49I love 50 year mortgages. Oh.
- 37:52You said that so quick. I'm.
- 37:54I know you're going to attack. Well, not attacking, I'm just
- 37:56irritated with A50 year mortgage.
- 37:59I think I'm with you, but I'm irritated, so go ahead I.
- 38:02Love it. So historically, so FDR, Trump
- 38:05referenced FDRFDR added. The 20 year mortgage and home
- 38:08ownership went from 40% of people to 65% of people.
- 38:12What was it before that? Before the 20 year, What was?
- 38:1640% of people owned a home and then after he did the 20 year
- 38:19mortgage that jumped 25% to 65% of Americans owned a home.
- 38:25I'm a big believer in Americans need to own homes.
- 38:29Corporations are buying up homes very, very quick.
- 38:32We're seeing cash deals even in Arizona very, very quick when no
- 38:35one else can buy because the corporations want to buy up all
- 38:38the homes. If you want to get into
- 38:39conspiracies, they want to control what the average person
- 38:44pays or rent. So rent control.
- 38:47They'll just decide it's 2500 dollars, $3000 and if you can't
- 38:51buy a home, you can't compete. And that's not a conspiracy that
- 38:54these companies are doing they're it's happening in a
- 38:56massively most of the house is being bought or being bought by
- 39:00a few different companies you. Know many of them are foreign
- 39:02investors owning American real estate which is a whole nother.
- 39:06Show. Yeah, Terrible.
- 39:07You talk about a stronghold that's very much a stronghold of
- 39:10other countries coming in and buying our homes up.
- 39:13And I think inflation is awesome in real estate.
- 39:18It's going to happen. The government's going to keep
- 39:20printing money. I'm, I'm not thrilled with that,
- 39:22but it's reality. We saw in COVID.
- 39:24All of a sudden they added 25% supply of money into the system
- 39:28and no one thought inflation was about to happen.
- 39:31And then it went off the charts. I as a new home buyer, we had
- 39:35bought a very average home price at like 350.
- 39:39We bought our first house 350. COVID happens within a year,
- 39:43that house went up by 40 or 50%. Wow, you not not because I was
- 39:48so smart and a great investor because inflation just shot into
- 39:51the economy. Everyone moved to Arizona during
- 39:53COVID, lots of things, but home prices across the country did
- 39:55that in 20/21/22. So your house will grow with
- 39:59inflation. Your mortgage won't.
- 40:01Your mortgage is going to. You're going to owe the same
- 40:03amount of. Money, and the money just got a
- 40:05lot cheaper. So a lot of people don't realize
- 40:08that inflation actually helps your debt quite a bit.
- 40:11It cheapens it. So for first time home buyers,
- 40:13there's a lot of young adults, they don't understand this.
- 40:16They're looking at the market and the terms, but they don't
- 40:18understand that first time home buyers completely different set
- 40:21of terms. Maybe explain the benefits for a
- 40:24first time home buyer. Totally.
- 40:25You can get a low interest rate. Your parents might tell you you
- 40:28need 20% down. Sure, that's awesome.
- 40:30But you don't need that. The market, especially in
- 40:33America, is going to keep going up because of inflation.
- 40:36And if there's a 50 year mortgage, the market's going to
- 40:39jump. We're going to see an aggressive
- 40:41climb here because it means more people can buy homes.
- 40:44But there's tons of government programs and I mean, they're
- 40:48going to give it out to a lot of people.
- 40:49So why not let you be one of those people?
- 40:52They will pay a lot of your down payment.
- 40:55I had a young couple the other day.
- 40:57The government gave them 30 grand.
- 40:59That's forgivable in three years if they hold that home.
- 41:01Well, government's just going to give them free money.
- 41:04And you might have some. My wife being one of these might
- 41:06be like, we're not taking money from the government out of
- 41:09principle. They're going to give it to
- 41:10someone. Just apply for the grant, take
- 41:13the grant, get the forgivable loan and start building a
- 41:16legacy. But you can buy a home, a first
- 41:19time homebuyer and especially in Arizona, it's expensive.
- 41:22So a lot of other states it's going to be lower.
- 41:24But you could spend 8 grand to 15 grand and you could be in a
- 41:28first time house and the government will fill the rest of
- 41:31that down payment and you get a lower.
- 41:33Interest rate, perhaps as a first time homebuyer.
- 41:35Lower interest rate, so a lot of a lot of great benefits.
- 41:39It's not that hard to buy a house.
- 41:40I always thought it was. I think it's one of the easiest
- 41:43wealth building tools for a, for a young person because you're
- 41:46going to pay rent, you're going to do something.
- 41:48It forces you as a young man or a young couple to go start
- 41:53investing and over the long term that home is going to go up.
- 41:57What disagreements do you have with a 50 year mortgage or what
- 41:59do you wrestle with with a 50 year mortgage?
- 42:01So if we were having this exact same conversation 10 years ago,
- 42:0550 years ago, 100 years ago, and now all the sudden we're like,
- 42:09hey, what do you think about a 50 year mortgage?
- 42:11I'm like, I think it's a terrible idea.
- 42:13I think it's awful. And it's because we're such a
- 42:15prosperous country that a 30 year mortgage or a 15 year
- 42:18mortgage, typically the average homebuyer could afford it if
- 42:22they just minded their P's and Q's.
- 42:25And the only reason we're having this conversation now is because
- 42:28wild, reckless overspending is impoverishing our nation.
- 42:31So now it becomes the necessary evil to push out a 30 year
- 42:35mortgage to a 50 year mortgage so that we can buy them up
- 42:37before BlackRock does. And so I hate, I hate, hate that
- 42:41that's happening because 10 years ago, 50 year mortgages was
- 42:45a bad idea. And so now it's just a stopgap.
- 42:48But what it's doing though, it's allowing, it's a realistic sober
- 42:52approach of where we're at right now, a 50 year mortgage.
- 42:55So I'm on board with you. But here's what I hate.
- 42:58It's admitting that we are certainly impoverished.
- 43:01We're having to compete with these major corporations doing a
- 43:04really shady thinks they're going to Jack rinse up and what
- 43:07else are you going to do? So you might as well do it.
- 43:08But I know the American consumer is they are going to be a much
- 43:17bigger debtor for their entire lives now.
- 43:20They're never going to pay off their home.
- 43:21Then you could say, well, you could get a 50 year mortgage but
- 43:24pay it like it's a 30 and people reason that and if you could
- 43:29actually do it, that'd be great. But almost no one does.
- 43:31I think you guys would and and like 2 of you people out there
- 43:35would do that. Nobody else is going to do that.
- 43:37It's the same reason why Dave Ramsey is so against anyone
- 43:40having credit cards. It's because you'll say, well,
- 43:42the points and I'm doing this and cash back actually come out
- 43:46ahead. And you're right technically on
- 43:48paper, but consumer habits is you're going to not do it and
- 43:53you'll be irresponsible. So you're going to get a 50 year
- 43:55mortgage and you're going to pay it for 50 years.
- 43:58You're not going to pay it off early.
- 43:59So you're going to be a slave to the lender.
- 44:01And if you get a 30. So right here you had a kind of
- 44:04a, a example charted out. So a $400,000 home with a 20%
- 44:12down payment and assuming a 6.5 or 6.6% interest rate and 30
- 44:18year term, that's 2040 bucks a month.
- 44:22If you paid that out over the life of the loan, you're the
- 44:26cost of money for a $400,000 home will end up being you'll
- 44:30spend $661,000 on that over the course of 30 years.
- 44:34So $400,000 home, you paid $661,000 over it.
- 44:40And I'm like that's a 30 year. What happens when you go 50 year
- 44:44and mind you you're only jumping in a 50 year mortgage from a
- 44:48$2040 payment, you're falling down to an $18122 payment.
- 44:53So really it's going to save you.
- 44:55Yeah, it's going to save you $200 ish a month.
- 44:59And what's it cost? I'm like, oh, it saves me $200 a
- 45:02month. Well, what does it cost you?
- 45:03You're going to pay an extra 20 years.
- 45:06And at the end of it, you would have paid almost $1,000,000 for
- 45:11a $400,000 home. That's wild.
- 45:14That's really expensive. But it's.
- 45:16Better than renting? Yeah, I I agree.
- 45:19I agree it's better than whatever, but if we if we could
- 45:23just not spend so wildly because all the dramatic government
- 45:29spending is causing this. We're in this problem because of
- 45:33a 3839 trillion dollar debt in runaway inflation.
- 45:37And so now we're talking about 50 or more.
- 45:40I'm like, hey, come on, how about get in perpetual debt for
- 45:43multiple generations because your government can't curtail
- 45:47spending. We're talking about a 50 year
- 45:49mortgage because government spending.
- 45:50So if we do a 50 year mortgage, OK, I get it, necessary evil,
- 45:55but let's cut the head off the beast of government spending or
- 45:59before, you know, we'll be talking about a 70 year
- 46:01mortgage. And it's because of the
- 46:02government's fault. And I don't like it.
- 46:05I don't like it. OK, John, but here's my push
- 46:07back. What is that house worth in 50
- 46:11years? I get it that it's still worth
- 46:13it. It's. 4 It's a $4 million house,
- 46:16and that's average home price in 50 years.
- 46:19So maybe so we'll see. I know of like what?
- 46:24What more land, what fun depressions await us?
- 46:27I know what fun government features away.
- 46:29In every 100 years and the last one was in the 1920s.
- 46:32So giddy up. Because the trend of all this
- 46:35government spending is ultimately a complete
- 46:38evisceration of our economy or the Marxist own anything and
- 46:41that that house you worked on for 40 years is seized by the
- 46:44state anyway. That's where all of this
- 46:46eventually lands. So the.
- 46:47Wildness of the death There is a debt of $330,000 of memory
- 46:53serves me correct for every American taxpayer, which means
- 46:57whether or not you have a mortgage, the government took
- 46:59one out for. You.
- 47:00That's right. You owe $330,000 in just that.
- 47:04Yeah. So Landon, to wrap up this one,
- 47:07so 50 year, do they have to put because a lot of young people
- 47:11are so there's like 50 years, Do they have to pay for 50 years or
- 47:14can they pay it off quicker? Can they refinance it down the
- 47:17road? You can pay it off very quickly.
- 47:19You can refinance it down the road.
- 47:22I think when interest rates are high, something like this makes
- 47:24a lot of sense to me because interest rates will be low again
- 47:27at some point. It it was wild to me.
- 47:32Our first house, I'm making this big payment.
- 47:34To me, it's $2200 a month. That felt like everything for
- 47:37Ashley and I as a newly married couple.
- 47:39And then we sold it two years later and we made 10 grand a
- 47:42month living there. And I was like, how does this
- 47:45math make any sense? That's great.
- 47:47It was. It was wild to see the
- 47:48appreciation when you only you've put this much money into
- 47:51the house and the equity jumps by this much.
- 47:54That's a great return on investment.
- 47:57And to the point earlier, OK, you're saving a couple $100 a
- 48:00month, not a big deal for you guys for for somebody that's
- 48:03making $20.00 an hour, $18.00 an hour trying to save up if
- 48:07somebody's investing $200 a month and actually being a good
- 48:10steward. So you do have to be wise.
- 48:12But if somebody takes that, invest that at an average rate
- 48:14of return at that 50 year mark, it's almost $4 million as well.
- 48:18So if you're a smart steward and you're a godly man and you do
- 48:22something like a 50 year mortgage and you take the extra
- 48:24money and you invest it or pay down your house faster, you're
- 48:26going to be in a great position in 10/15/20 years.
- 48:30If you're just trying to use the government and push out your
- 48:33debt and things like that, that's not helpful.
- 48:36But you can redeem a lot of the government programs and as young
- 48:40Christian men and women, we need to be good stewards and smart in
- 48:44these decisions we're making. And you need to actually chart
- 48:47it outlook at investment charts and look at your next 50 years
- 48:50and decide where you want to be. That was something me and Ashley
- 48:53did very early in her marriage. Where, where do we want to be at
- 48:5675? And where do we want, what do we
- 48:58want to leave to our grandkids? And you just reverse engineer
- 49:00it. And I just see things like this
- 49:02as tools to do that. And Trump is much wiser than
- 49:07anyone gives him credit for as far as the economy.
- 49:09He knows how to combat these things.
- 49:11He knows what tariffs will do. He he's not like throwing hand
- 49:14grenades. And like, hopefully this stuff
- 49:16works. He's a very good businessman.
- 49:18And if there's something that you should trust him on, who
- 49:20would have? Thought a billionaire would have
- 49:23been good with money, though I didn't.
- 49:24I didn't see that coming. Did you see that coming?
- 49:26And a socialist who's never held a job can run New York.
- 49:30So what? That's a great pivot.
- 49:32Yeah, well, let me let me get one hack and then we'll move on.
- 49:34This is dad hack for the older people that are watching this,
- 49:38number one, you want to you want to get your credit score and
- 49:40keep your credit score high. And then two, a lot of the myth
- 49:44when it comes to home buying for young families and young couples
- 49:49is we've got to get a credit card.
- 49:51We need to get our credit score. No, you don't.
- 49:53Here's a dad hack. If you have a good credit score,
- 49:56you can put your kids, you can put other people on as an
- 49:58authorized user. So like when our kids got
- 50:02married, like I was talking one of my daughter in laws and she's
- 50:05like, I got to get a credit card because you know, I need to get
- 50:08a credit score so that we go to buy a house.
- 50:10Have a good Christ. I said no, sweetheart, I love
- 50:11you. Don't do any of that.
- 50:12I will make you an authorized user on my account, which means
- 50:15then when they pull your credit score, you get my credit score.
- 50:18Well, that's great. Now that's all so.
- 50:20You don't need a credit card and you don't need to play the
- 50:22credit card game and you don't need to take any risk.
- 50:24You don't need to go out and get a car loan and start doing these
- 50:27really foolish things. Older generations can really
- 50:31help if they can borrow your credit score and get a first
- 50:34time home buyer opportunity. Now you're unlocking
- 50:38generational wealth for your kids.
- 50:40And the the one other thing you did that was awesome and
- 50:43hopefully I'm not over sharing here, but you were willing to
- 50:45match a down payment for us up to a certain number.
- 50:48And you always talk about give your inheritance to your kids
- 50:51early because 10 grand for me right now is much better than
- 50:55100 grand in 30 years. Well, in, in 30 years, you know,
- 50:59let's say I live 30 years. In 30 years, if you really need
- 51:03the inheritance, I failed, you didn't do a good job.
- 51:06When a couple really needs their inheritance, is it the starting
- 51:09line? Like we want to buy a house, we
- 51:11want to have kids. So my goal is always like, if
- 51:14you can and you're older, get as much of the inheritance to the
- 51:17kids as early as possible. If they're wise and good
- 51:20stewards and then they're going to multiply that.
- 51:23But in 30 years, you don't need help with your first home, no.
- 51:26No. Can I ask you a question on
- 51:27that? So some folks will have the
- 51:31attitude older generation of if you just give them money or
- 51:34inheritance, you'll spoil them. And there's some out there of
- 51:36like, hey, I got him to 18, let my last check bounce, I'm
- 51:43cashing out, no inheritance. Yeah, a wise man leaves an
- 51:45inheritance for his children's children.
- 51:47That's Proverbs. And so the goal is to pass on to
- 51:50your children and grandchildren as much money, as much blessing,
- 51:54as much wisdom, as much support as you possibly can.
- 51:58And there are two kinds of children.
- 52:00There are those who are bad stewards and those who are good
- 52:03stewards. And so give everything you can
- 52:06after you've trained your child to be a good steward.
- 52:09And so like, my thing with all of our kids was like, get
- 52:12married, buy a house, have kids, If you can do it in that order,
- 52:17statistically you're going to win.
- 52:19Like you're going to play the long game and win.
- 52:21And so I have no problem being generous toward children that
- 52:26are good stewards. So if they're not a good
- 52:28steward, then teach them stewardship and incentivize them
- 52:32to be good stewards. Don't control them.
- 52:34But like, hey, if you will raise money for hours, I will match
- 52:38you dollar for dollar as one potential example.
- 52:41Then the kid is like, and here's what it costs and here's first
- 52:44time home buyer and I'll let you borrow my credit score.
- 52:46Any smart kid is going to be like, well, I'm going to do that
- 52:49because I didn't understand that, but my dad just set me up
- 52:52for the win. You're a good dad, Mark
- 52:53Driscoll. Good job.
- 52:54We'll leave it right there and we will head to some not so
- 52:58great politics. So 2 cities, one story about the
- 53:01changing face of America. Minneapolis and New York just
- 53:04elected Muslim candidates who ran on cultural and religious
- 53:08identity. Some call it representation
- 53:10while others call it replacement.
- 53:12Ron DeSantis says Republican idea of endless immigrate legal
- 53:16immigration is brain dead. And we want to unpack that.
- 53:20So you guys have a lot of experience, a lot of years on
- 53:24the clock seeing this happen, seeing America, good immigration
- 53:28happened, bad immigration happened, no borders, borders.
- 53:32What are your thoughts? We want to hear theologically,
- 53:34but also just are we going to be in a good spot in 1520 years?
- 53:39Are your kids going to be in a great America If if what's
- 53:43happening continues? I don't know if it is still
- 53:45America if it continues. Yeah, that's right.
- 53:48And so those who are naive theologically, they'll be like,
- 53:52we need to welcome the stranger. Well, like the book of judges.
- 53:54We talked about this offline. Israel has a boundary, and it
- 53:57keeps getting invaded by enemies who don't love the people and
- 54:01don't share the values. So the whole book of Judges is
- 54:05Deborah and Barack and Gideon and Jephta and Samson.
- 54:09It's it's just war after war after war to secure the border.
- 54:12And so, you know, if you're going to think biblically, you
- 54:14need to think entirely within the confines of Scripture.
- 54:18And so, you know, historically, we are a nation of immigrants,
- 54:22people who came here legally but then were educated on the
- 54:25Declaration of Independence, the Constitution.
- 54:29They were given American values. Here's who we are.
- 54:31Here's how we operate. Here's our language.
- 54:33Please speak our language. And that is assimilation.
- 54:37And So what happens currently? We had an open border.
- 54:40Everybody's welcome in. We're not asking are you going
- 54:43to add any value? Like in Europe, they've got a
- 54:45merit system. Like do you have a career?
- 54:48Are you going to add value to our culture?
- 54:50If so, we're going to run you to the front of the line.
- 54:52You know, do you share our values here?
- 54:54We open it up. We say diversity is our
- 54:56strength. No, it's not.
- 54:58I mean, cartel leaders are not our strike.
- 55:00Drug traffickers are not our strength.
- 55:02You know, child predators bringing kids over the border,
- 55:05that's not our strength. Our strength is in integrity and
- 55:09it's in our founding principles. And so now you've got people
- 55:13coming into the country that aren't vetted and they aren't
- 55:15coming to contribute anything. And then if they go to a
- 55:18government school, the government school tells them
- 55:21that America is institutionally inherently racist, sexist,
- 55:25homophobic, and evil. And it's patriarchal and
- 55:29colonial, which means any values that have any rooting and
- 55:32Christian convictions are inherently oppressive and
- 55:35unjust. They get an entire Marxist
- 55:37paradigm. And at that point, those people
- 55:40don't even understand America. And the modicum that they do
- 55:43understand, they think is inherently evil.
- 55:45Therefore social justice is to deconstruct it.
- 55:48And it's like, well then what you end up with is the the
- 55:52nation that they left because it was horrible now becomes this
- 55:57nation. And I don't know why you would
- 55:58go from one country that sucked to another country that doesn't
- 56:02suck with the agenda of making it suck.
- 56:04If you want to live in a country that sucks, just stay in your
- 56:07country. It's good that's you spend.
- 56:10Time defending this nation and now you're seeing the nation
- 56:14changed over the last 5-10 years.
- 56:16What what are your thoughts on where we're headed?
- 56:18Well, we had one aspect to it right here.
- 56:20Another aspect that you need is to understand what Islam is.
- 56:25You need to understand what the Muslim world is.
- 56:27And there is variation. So I want to be sensitive to
- 56:29that. There's some sweetie pie Muslims
- 56:31that just you don't want to kumbaya and hey, jihad, it
- 56:34doesn't really mean what you think it means.
- 56:36And we're all just we're, we're, we're all fine.
- 56:38It's all just a metaphor. And then there's, well, most of
- 56:42Muslim history isn't that way. Whereas we've seen the Crusades
- 56:47as points where the Christian world was pushing back on Muslim
- 56:52conquest, Islam has seen one giant crusade that's been
- 56:56spanning over 14 centuries. It's just one.
- 56:59And it's the sixth pillar of Islam that unofficial.
- 57:02It's jihad. It's, it's a war.
- 57:05It's you want to go to heaven immediately.
- 57:06It's Kelly and Fidel. They're at war with Western
- 57:09values. Theologically, fundamentally,
- 57:12you crack open the hood of Islam, they're at war with
- 57:15Western values and specifically Christianity.
- 57:19And so you can't assimilate with that because Islam is utterly
- 57:22incompatible with Western values, because it is at war
- 57:26with Western values. And so if you look at all the
- 57:29countries where Muslims have majority and where they're
- 57:33ruling, wherever Islam is, someone was there before him.
- 57:37And typically they were all Christian lands and they didn't
- 57:39convert by the beauty of the Quran.
- 57:42They were overthrown by the scimitar or they were out bred
- 57:47until the population was majority Muslim and then they
- 57:52established Sharia law, kicked everyone else out and now as
- 57:55Islamic. That's how every Christian
- 57:57nation in the Middle Eastern, in the Middle East, in Asia, in
- 58:02North Africa, all of it was Christian lands.
- 58:05They didn't convert to Islam, they were murdered over the
- 58:10course of centuries and that's how Islam took they either they
- 58:13either kill you and drive you out or they out breed you and
- 58:16then establish political control.
- 58:18Drop all Democratic Republican pretense.
- 58:21Once they establish majority, establish Sharia law, and now it
- 58:25just becomes another Muslim state, part of the future
- 58:28caliphate there. There's no bargaining with them
- 58:33in that. It is.
- 58:34It's incompatible with our founding documents.
- 58:37We have a national identity. What is that?
- 58:39Well, it's Christian values and it's also built around our
- 58:43founding documents, our Declaration of Independence and
- 58:47our Constitution. That's who we are.
- 58:49We're we're people that rally around document a belief system.
- 58:55It's an idea that is America and it is incompatible with
- 58:59antithetical ideas. And it's not just open for
- 59:02interpretation. It's not just a melting pot of
- 59:04diverse beliefs. No, it's it's fixed.
- 59:07And if you destroy the foundation, the entire edifice
- 59:10that is the United States of America falls.
- 59:12And what this is, is the signal that not only do we not
- 59:15understand that we rally around the Constitution and that's what
- 59:19makes us Americans, but we are also inviting a very the
- 59:23complete antithetical ideology to come and rule over us.
- 59:27It it it there. I can't imagine something more
- 59:31disastrous than this unless they asked Christianity Today to help
- 59:34rule with them. I just can't do it.
- 59:36I can't do it. Let's call it a call back,
- 59:38gentlemen. Thank you guys.
- 59:39That's. Good.
- 59:40Well, and, and so you know, if if we are one nation under God,
- 59:45who that God is determines what kind of nation we are.
- 59:48Good word. And so this is ultimately A
- 59:50theological issue. It's a spiritual warfare issue.
- 59:53And and biblically when when an enemy gets a camp within
- 59:59territory that they don't have dominion over, it's called a
- 1:00:01stronghold right now, Dearborn, MI's theologically, spiritually,
- 1:00:07it is a stronghold. When you hear the Muslim call to
- 1:00:10per going out over the, over this loud speakers, which is
- 1:00:14against law in Dearborn, MI, that is, that is a that is a
- 1:00:18spiritual declaration of territorial dominion.
- 1:00:22Yeah. And we just saw now another
- 1:00:25stronghold is being established in New York City.
- 1:00:28Right heart of the nation. And financial capital.
- 1:00:32And so, you know, from a spiritual standpoint, like these
- 1:00:35are strongholds. They're not yet ruling the
- 1:00:37nation. But before you topple any
- 1:00:39people, you got to set up a fortified compound, you've got
- 1:00:42to set up a stronghold. And from there, you expand your
- 1:00:45influence. You go out and declare your war.
- 1:00:47And so jihad begins with strongholds.
- 1:00:50Right. If Satan was going to take this
- 1:00:52nation, New York and a yeah, it's not going to happen from a
- 1:00:56ground war. It's going to happen from this.
- 1:00:58It'll be a slow, a slow heating up and.
- 1:01:02And he's a good enough general to recognize he should fight a
- 1:01:05war on multiple fronts simultaneously.
- 1:01:07And this is, this is a devastating 1.
- 1:01:09And it signals something real bad to me.
- 1:01:12I'm like, oh, we're we're further gone than I thought.
- 1:01:15This is really bad. This is really bad.
- 1:01:17What should be the pastors response to this?
- 1:01:22How do you lead a congregation? How do you lead men?
- 1:01:24Of like you're in New York City, Paul Mann like, hey, we're
- 1:01:28moving guys. We're going to the great state
- 1:01:30of Georgia. Is it still free?
- 1:01:32A lot of. Well, what we're looking at now,
- 1:01:35you're really looking at 2 Americas.
- 1:01:37You're looking at those who are voting with their feet, where
- 1:01:40they want to live, what kind of governor they want to have,
- 1:01:43what, what kind of citizen they want to be.
- 1:01:45And to me it seems like the rate, the rate we're going, you
- 1:01:48have two options. You have two Americas.
- 1:01:51And it really becomes people determine their state by their
- 1:01:55belief system. And if we try to all work
- 1:01:58together, I don't see anything other than civil war because
- 1:02:01these are irreconcilable ideologies like and, and as a
- 1:02:05Christian, you feel like on the left, I'm getting attacked over
- 1:02:08all the trans weirdness and on the and, and social Marxism and
- 1:02:12on the right, I'm getting attacked with his law.
- 1:02:15And so it's, it's a weird day. There's a, there's a war on both
- 1:02:18fronts for those who just want to be left alone.
- 1:02:21Both of these ideologies do not permit sort of independence.
- 1:02:25No, they're totalitarian regimes, both on the hard left
- 1:02:29and it on the Islamic right. They want to oversee your
- 1:02:32schools, they want to tax you. They want to oversee your laws.
- 1:02:36They want to control your family and future and they want to take
- 1:02:39away your firearms so that you're indefensible.
- 1:02:42I mean, and so I don't know, John, do you think we just vote
- 1:02:46by like you go to Georgia or you, you know, go to California?
- 1:02:49Or is it we end up in just full blown civil war?
- 1:02:51John wants to move to California.
- 1:02:53I do not want to move to California.
- 1:02:55I don't want to look at a picture of California lately.
- 1:02:57I just, I'm very upset by the politics there.
- 1:03:00There's so many good conservative, God loving people
- 1:03:04that live in California. California is a red state and
- 1:03:06it's just ruled by blue dots, that's what.
- 1:03:09And that's every single state it seems like.
- 1:03:12Maybe not Massachusetts, I don't know.
- 1:03:14Anyway, the whole country. Is big enough just to be a.
- 1:03:17Dot, it's just a Big Blue dot, isn't it?
- 1:03:19I don't know. I don't know, but yeah, I think
- 1:03:23Satan is launching both air and ground war simultaneously,
- 1:03:27hitting us on multiple fronts. And a response must also be in
- 1:03:31many fronts. We need churches to stand up
- 1:03:35straight and declare bold truth. And if you're just going to let
- 1:03:38all this stuff play out in the news and our cultures being
- 1:03:43overrun, and you're just going to little anecdotes and pithy
- 1:03:47jokes, and here's a little story and a verse.
- 1:03:49See you next Sunday. If you're just going to cede the
- 1:03:52culture war to the dominions of Satan, well, you're no help.
- 1:03:56This is a theological battle and we need theological generals at
- 1:04:00the helm at the front leading this fight spiritually.
- 1:04:04So as a as a church, I refuse to live in a world of lies.
- 1:04:07I will not be censors. I will not be silenced.
- 1:04:09I'm to speak out against this. And that's effectively we're
- 1:04:12three pastors doing that right now.
- 1:04:14And I encourage any pastors following on, don't be a coward,
- 1:04:17do it as well. We need everyone on board,
- 1:04:20everyone on board. We can't bear the weight of all
- 1:04:23the attacks simultaneously. And so pastors need to speak the
- 1:04:26truth. Now is a wonderful time for
- 1:04:29courage and for very clear voices.
- 1:04:31We also need to vote with our feet.
- 1:04:33We need to be politically involved.
- 1:04:35We need all kinds of folks in every area of life, in all
- 1:04:39vocations, in all neighborhoods. We need to get our schools back.
- 1:04:42We need to get our country back. We need to be voting.
- 1:04:44We need to be educating all of the stuff simultaneously.
- 1:04:47Wherever there is a fight being levied against us, there's where
- 1:04:50brave defenders need to be able to stand up for truth and
- 1:04:54contend. And it's and yes.
- 1:04:57And it's biblical worldview. Yeah.
- 1:04:59And it can't just be self help, you know, psychology
- 1:05:02instruction. It needs to be, hey, there is a
- 1:05:05difference between Islam and Christianity, and it's not a
- 1:05:09minor difference. There is a big difference
- 1:05:11between biblical justice and Marxist social justice.
- 1:05:15There's a big difference. And the problem is that the
- 1:05:18pulpits are not providing biblical worldview.
- 1:05:21So the average Christian is either misinformed or altogether
- 1:05:25uninformed. And in the absence of the
- 1:05:27biblical worldview, everyone's just going to have an unbiblical
- 1:05:30world. And so to think that the
- 1:05:32responsibility, the pastor doesn't include worldview
- 1:05:34shaping, it's reprehensible. So those who would say, you
- 1:05:37know, don't get involved in politics, don't get involved in
- 1:05:39culture, teach biblical worldview and you will realize
- 1:05:42you have to, it's, it's a, you can't be faithful to God without
- 1:05:48opening the word of God and helping God's people interpret
- 1:05:51what's going on in the world through the word.
- 1:05:53Even the politicians that established our nation had the
- 1:05:56foresight to recognize that we were one nation under God.
- 1:05:59And if it's one nation under God, then God's ambassadors get
- 1:06:02to exercise dominion and have a say over all of government over
- 1:06:07the totality of life. If we're one nation under God
- 1:06:09and the preacher is God's ambassador, the preacher has
- 1:06:12complete carte blanche to be able to speak to any and every
- 1:06:16issue because we're one nation under God.
- 1:06:19So who speaks for God? The pastor's reading out of the
- 1:06:22Bible, contending with a culture.
- 1:06:23You're able to speak in that. And it's an absolute utter lie
- 1:06:27of Satan. He is laughing at you like
- 1:06:30you're a joke if he has silenced you with this lie that you just
- 1:06:37talk Bible and let everything else play out.
- 1:06:40You just, you just got your main generals and war captains to go
- 1:06:45get a smoothie in the heat of battle.
- 1:06:47I'm like that. Satan thinks it's hilarious.
- 1:06:51I think that pastors are sitting here watching all of the
- 1:06:56dominions of Satan pour in while they're just eating an apple
- 1:06:59doing nothing. Hey guys.
- 1:07:01Before we go to the next segment, Pastor Mark wanted to
- 1:07:03tell you about something really exciting.
- 1:07:05We had a company really, really want to jump in and partner with
- 1:07:08Real Faith to help support the new show, The Mark Driscoll
- 1:07:11Show, and Pastor Mark will tell you more about it now.
- 1:07:15Look, God wants us to be good stewards.
- 1:07:18And if you want to learn about silver and gold, just go to the
- 1:07:21Bible. You're going to find it there.
- 1:07:22You'll also find it at Gold Co, one of our sponsors.
- 1:07:25And so God wants us to be good stewards and take good care of
- 1:07:28his money, and we want to help you protect what you've worked
- 1:07:32so hard to earn. This is why many Christians and
- 1:07:35patriots like myself are turning to precious metals like gold and
- 1:07:40silver. They've been a store of value
- 1:07:43for centuries. They're mentioned, as I said,
- 1:07:45throughout the scriptures, and they're a sign of value and
- 1:07:49purity. They've also proven to be a safe
- 1:07:52haven for assets in a chaotic world.
- 1:07:54So I want you to get a free gold and silver kit from our new
- 1:07:58partners. At Gold Co, you're going to
- 1:08:01learn about the challenges we currently face in our economy
- 1:08:04and how you can use gold and silver.
- 1:08:07To help protect. You and your family.
- 1:08:10Right now Gold Co is also offering our audience a 10%
- 1:08:15instant match in bonus silver. Or do it again.
- 1:08:19Right now, Gold Co is also offering our audience a 10%
- 1:08:24instant match in bonus silver or gold for qualified orders.
- 1:08:29Just for getting started. It's the best deal in town, so
- 1:08:32go to goldco.com/real Faith. That's Gold. co.com/realfaith.
- 1:08:40Yep, Yep. Pastor John, thank you.
- 1:08:43We have a couple questions we're going to finish with, but I want
- 1:08:45to honor you for being on the show.
- 1:08:47Thank you for being here. You've got a great ministry and
- 1:08:50business helping equip men in a lot of ways.
- 1:08:54Where can people go join your really your brotherhood?
- 1:08:58And what services, what things do you have to offer that you'd
- 1:09:01love to tell them about? Because you're very strong.
- 1:09:03So these people either love you or hate you at this point.
- 1:09:06Sometimes I, I, I hate me as well.
- 1:09:08So I, I get it. I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm a work in
- 1:09:10progress. I'm trying to repent, love Jesus
- 1:09:12more, but anyway, still deal with some of that.
- 1:09:14So I, I understand that folks can find me at Pastor John
- 1:09:18Lovell that that's my handle. I have a church called Grace
- 1:09:21City. It's in Rome, GA.
- 1:09:23So Pastor John level, I'm preaching every single week in
- 1:09:26the pulpit. And so Pastor John Level, check
- 1:09:28me out there on YouTube and stuff.
- 1:09:30Like that into guns, right? I'm into guns.
- 1:09:32I have a movement called Warrior Poet Society.
- 1:09:34And so we teach all kinds of security related stuff,
- 1:09:38training. We teach gun fighting classes
- 1:09:40all around the country as well. That that was an old special
- 1:09:42operations guy and so I leaned into that world and really
- 1:09:45ascended the the the ranks for training in the country.
- 1:09:49And so we do a lot there and all kinds of everyday Carrie and all
- 1:09:53the cool gizmos on our warrior boat website and we have a
- 1:09:56streaming service watch WPSN. That's where somebody can really
- 1:09:59join as a member. You're like warrior boat.
- 1:10:01I like that. I want to join.
- 1:10:03You go to watchwpsn.com and you join and that that makes you
- 1:10:06kind of one of us as a, as a main.
- 1:10:08Supporter Awesome. And in the world we're heading
- 1:10:11in, it seems like it's getting darker and men need to be a
- 1:10:14equipped both theologically and protection security, like
- 1:10:17actually they they should be carrying a gun and ready for
- 1:10:20battle because it could come. We are loving protectors of
- 1:10:24other people. And if evil has a gun, I want
- 1:10:25one too. I'm going to, I want to protect
- 1:10:28the innocent and that's the that's why I carry a gun.
- 1:10:31It's not for me, it's for everyone else.
- 1:10:33Somebody wants to shoot up a school and I'm on that.
- 1:10:35I'm on the X, not on my watch, man.
- 1:10:37You're going to have to go through me if you want to hurt
- 1:10:39people around me. And so it is the duty of a
- 1:10:41loving shepherd protector to carry a gun.
- 1:10:45Love it, I love it. So first mailbag question to
- 1:10:47close this out. Pastor Mark, if your in laws
- 1:10:51can't stand each other, how do you decide who to spend the
- 1:10:54holidays with without starting a war?
- 1:10:56I have an answer but. Yeah #1 You could rotate ears,
- 1:11:01you could say we'll do Thanksgiving with you guys one
- 1:11:03year, do Thanksgiving with you the other.
- 1:11:05We could do that Christmas, whatever it may be, you could
- 1:11:09say we're going to host it at our house will be the
- 1:11:11Demilitarized Zone between North and South Korea.
- 1:11:15And so when you enter into our home as head of household, here
- 1:11:18are the ground rules. You're welcome to play by the
- 1:11:20ground rules. If you behave otherwise, you are
- 1:11:22not welcome. Or you could decide if you find
- 1:11:26that both families are just toxic and unenjoyable.
- 1:11:29You know what, we love you both and we'd love we only.
- 1:11:31There's only three kinds of relationships.
- 1:11:32There's healthy, unhealthy and no relation.
- 1:11:35And if they're saying, well, we're only going to give you one
- 1:11:37option, unhealthy relationship, well then you got to decide, are
- 1:11:39you going to go for unhealthy relationship or no relationship?
- 1:11:42And you may even want to do rather than a forever cut off
- 1:11:47and say we're never going to do the holidays with you again.
- 1:11:49If it's really dangerous and evil, like let's say you're in a
- 1:11:51family that abuses kids and you got kids you like, we're not
- 1:11:54doing that. But if it's just a situation
- 1:11:57that's unhealthy and toxic, I like something called a
- 1:12:00temporary time out, which is, hey, we're going to have a
- 1:12:03clarifying conversation. We love you.
- 1:12:06This year. We're taking a break from the
- 1:12:07holidays. We're not going to see you and
- 1:12:11we'll pick it up next year and have a discussion.
- 1:12:13We're not going to keep doing what we've been doing for a good
- 1:12:16to start bad must end. So we're going to reset how we
- 1:12:19do holidays, especially maybe now that we got kids.
- 1:12:22And after the holidays, we're going to see how it goes without
- 1:12:26you. And if, if in the future we'd
- 1:12:28like to re engage, we'd like to reconsider the terms of
- 1:12:33agreement. Because usually what happens is
- 1:12:34so you got a toxic family, you grew up in that family, you
- 1:12:37don't know it's toxic, you know, and then you get married and
- 1:12:41then you realize, OK, my family is a little unhealthy or toxic,
- 1:12:45but then you and your spouse, you just sort of endured acts
- 1:12:48like, well, it's family. We've always done Christmas with
- 1:12:50our family and then it reaches a point where it starts to create
- 1:12:53tension and anxiety between you and your wife.
- 1:12:56And you're like, now we're creating a negative anniversary
- 1:12:58on the holidays and then you add kids and that's when it breaks
- 1:13:01and you're like, I would never allow my kids to be in this
- 1:13:04environment for the holidays. Why would I allow that if it's
- 1:13:08with relatives? And so you don't allow access to
- 1:13:11your family based upon blood but based upon character.
- 1:13:15And if somebody is unsafe or unwell, it doesn't matter what
- 1:13:18their last name is. They get treated as someone who
- 1:13:21is unsafe or unwell and they're welcome to repent and or get
- 1:13:24help and as a result re enter in a healthy way.
- 1:13:28Yep. It's very good, very good one.
- 1:13:31One thing Ashley and I did just early in our marriage, and it
- 1:13:34wasn't in out of spite towards anyone, we just went and made
- 1:13:38some memories. Like on Thanksgiving by
- 1:13:40ourselves. We went to South Carolina,
- 1:13:42picked a town we'd never been to, stayed on a lake on a crisp
- 1:13:48Thanksgiving week, and we just made memories on our own and we
- 1:13:50did a vision retreat. We set the vision for our
- 1:13:52marriage the next year. And sometimes it's just good to
- 1:13:55make, especially the early in your marriage to make some
- 1:13:57memories that are together and then as kids are invited in, I
- 1:14:01think it's great to do Thanksgiving as big families and
- 1:14:03they're very fun. And we we love doing holidays at
- 1:14:07your guys's house and but it's very fun early on your marriage
- 1:14:10to really get get close with each other and and have some
- 1:14:13memories to draw from in the future.
- 1:14:15Well, and, and, and in closing, so from the, from the older
- 1:14:17generation standpoint, there's a bit of grief in that.
- 1:14:21Like, you know, I mean, now Ashley was my daughter.
- 1:14:24Now she's your wife. She's still my daughter, but my
- 1:14:27job is to go down the totem pole.
- 1:14:29I was the first man and then you're here now I'm the second
- 1:14:31man. Now Indy's Warren, I'm in third
- 1:14:33position, you know, like my job is to keep working my way down
- 1:14:36the totem pole. And, and I'm glad that she's
- 1:14:39loved and married, But for older generations, you've got to
- 1:14:42emotionally process that like, because most parents have a
- 1:14:45dream of what life and relationships and holidays will
- 1:14:49look like. But once your kids get married,
- 1:14:52you can't give them your dream. You need them to pray and you
- 1:14:55need they asked them what their dream is.
- 1:14:57And, and so like with that first Thanksgiving, I was like, OK,
- 1:15:00Ashley's not going to be here. Like, she's happily married.
- 1:15:03She's differentiated. She's left her father and
- 1:15:05mother, but she's gone, you know, And so enjoy your kids as
- 1:15:10long as you have them hold a relationship in an open hand,
- 1:15:13come with a posture of service. But even like this year for the
- 1:15:16older generations, we met with, you know, we talked to you and
- 1:15:19Zach and Calvin, the three heads of household, because you guys
- 1:15:22have all got your own families. Like what do you guys want to do
- 1:15:24for Thanksgiving And, and you're all pretty much like we've got
- 1:15:27the week off of work. We want to go do stuff with our
- 1:15:29wives, with our kids. We want to do our family things
- 1:15:32like, well, what would work? They're like, well, let's not do
- 1:15:34Thanksgiving on Thursday. Let's do it on Monday, 'cause we
- 1:15:38all work, you know, Saturday, Sunday with church, but then
- 1:15:41Monday, let's do Thanksgiving and then you guys can have the
- 1:15:44whole week with your family, travel, go do what you want,
- 1:15:47make your own memories. Even if you want to do your own
- 1:15:49Thanksgiving and have friends or whatever, you can do whatever
- 1:15:52you want. And so it's, it's as an older
- 1:15:54generation coming along and just realizing all the wonderful
- 1:15:59things that the Bible says about serving and trying to take that
- 1:16:02position of how do we serve your family?
- 1:16:05And if that's the position, usually you can work out the
- 1:16:07details. Yeah, you guys do a great job of
- 1:16:11honoring each relationship and making it easy and making it
- 1:16:16very life giving your your considerate of of.
- 1:16:19Try to be. Yeah.
- 1:16:20So we, we appreciate it. It's very helpful.
- 1:16:23Did you have something to add? No, that was great.
- 1:16:25OK, the next question for John. I love that they believe that
- 1:16:29this is a good question for you. What can women do to raise
- 1:16:34strong young men who love the. Lord oh, there was a book
- 1:16:37recently read in there. That's great.
- 1:16:42Is that what you were tilting your hand towards?
- 1:16:44My wife wrote a book called Boyhood Resurrected.
- 1:16:47So whoever gave whoever's leading us down that you guys
- 1:16:51are racist, I see you're supporting you love us.
- 1:16:53I see you. I thank you for that.
- 1:16:55My wife wrote a very, very good book.
- 1:16:58I am very proud. It's not just because I think
- 1:17:00she's a hottie and I'm, I'm sweet on her.
- 1:17:03It's legitimately a good book. It's called Boyhood Resurrected,
- 1:17:06and what we found is we're raising two boys, wild and free,
- 1:17:11boys that also have the most. Respect, Feel wonderful.
- 1:17:14The boys are right here. Kind boys I've ever met.
- 1:17:17Shout out to the love of boys, yes?
- 1:17:20Well done kids, well done. What we found it early in our
- 1:17:25marriage was that we need to be on the same page.
- 1:17:30When kids were little, it was really the mommy show.
- 1:17:33Her job is to kind of keep them alive and my job is to make them
- 1:17:36strong. There's a bit of a hand off.
- 1:17:38As kids get older and older, especially boys, they start
- 1:17:41gravitating more toward dads. And then moms feel threatened by
- 1:17:45that. I'm like, I'm losing my hold and
- 1:17:46accidentally they'll end up infantilizing them and keeping
- 1:17:50them young when they should be allowing them to take risks.
- 1:17:53Boys that are not allowed to take risks, fail, get hurt, skin
- 1:17:58knees, climb trees higher than you think they should.
- 1:18:01You're laughing because they lost an airplane.
- 1:18:03My 11 year old lost an airplane and a tree 50 feet not exact 50
- 1:18:08feet up. He mowgled up there, got the
- 1:18:11plane that is at 50 feet. Your wife left with my wife.
- 1:18:15I'm standing there with two boys in a public park.
- 1:18:17A lady's calling the cops on me. This I didn't know you.
- 1:18:21She's calling the cops because I'm being so unsafe and I'm
- 1:18:23like, great, they're not my kids.
- 1:18:26That wasn't helpful to that. Into my wife's credit of like,
- 1:18:29we want to eliminate the death stuff of like we, we can handle
- 1:18:34a broken arm, we can't handle a broken neck.
- 1:18:36And so we're going to figure out how.
- 1:18:37I Facetimed you guys immediately and Becca's like send it, send
- 1:18:41it. I don't want to.
- 1:18:42Watch We've been watching them climb trees for a long time.
- 1:18:44And these boys get down. They're like, we've never
- 1:18:46claimed anything that big. No, but they've done 40, they've
- 1:18:49done 30, and before that did they did 20 and they did 10.
- 1:18:53There's something very, very terrible and very risky about
- 1:18:58not letting a boy experience risk.
- 1:18:59If you don't let him experience risk, he doesn't grow to be a
- 1:19:02man. He needs to become strong.
- 1:19:05And the only way you can get strong is through suffering and
- 1:19:07through failing forward and through those skin knees.
- 1:19:10And so the idea is mom keeps them alive and dad pushes the
- 1:19:14envelope and makes them strong. And through the tension of mom
- 1:19:16and dad working, you're able to grow a boy into a man.
- 1:19:20Now, if mom is always getting her way, he's going to be a week
- 1:19:25a feat. He's going to live in the
- 1:19:26basement on the couch playing video games.
- 1:19:29He'll be a failure to launch. He will never stand on his own 2
- 1:19:33feet and be a strong man. Cannot.
- 1:19:35That's how it's going to be. He's going to be an entitled
- 1:19:37brat. If dad always gets his way, he
- 1:19:40is. Maybe he gets good job and
- 1:19:42captain of industry and he takes off and he wins trophies, but
- 1:19:46he'll never keep a family together.
- 1:19:48He he won't have that emotional sensitivity and ability to
- 1:19:51steward relationships and so he can win stuff, but he can't keep
- 1:19:54anything. And so it is through the tension
- 1:19:57of a nurturing and loving mom and a strong dad that allows
- 1:20:02them to learn how to navigate and grow into manhood.
- 1:20:07And one of the best things mom can do is carve out a place for
- 1:20:10dad to be a dad. And so he's going to be better
- 1:20:14at solving certain problems. Some some moms are suffering
- 1:20:17under the difficulty of I can't get my kid to eat food.
- 1:20:20All men know how to solve that problem immediately.
- 1:20:23I can solve it tonight forever. Hey, kid.
- 1:20:25You got 30 seconds to eat your dinner here.
- 1:20:28Nope. You're not doing it.
- 1:20:29Alright. Fantastic.
- 1:20:29Go to bed. Like go to bed.
- 1:20:31It's 7:00. Nope.
- 1:20:32Don't parent my parenting. You tagged out.
- 1:20:34I'm in, don't no, you, you tagged out.
- 1:20:37Am I, am I, am I able to parent here?
- 1:20:39But this is typically where the modern feministically trained
- 1:20:42woman jumps in and ask dad to parent.
- 1:20:44The moment he starts, she jumps in to protect the kids.
- 1:20:47And what the dad learns after a while is ah, I'm not falling for
- 1:20:50that again, I'm not doing that. I'm like, Nope, you do it.
- 1:20:53Whatever, just I'm watching the game or whatever.
- 1:20:56And it's because she invites dad, but then immediately cuts
- 1:20:59him off at the pass. And so if, if you want him to
- 1:21:01solve a problem, let him solve the problem.
- 1:21:03Bite your tongue. It's going to be so hard,
- 1:21:04ladies, but do it and it'll solve the problem.
- 1:21:06I remember my oldest, I'm looking at him right now, but he
- 1:21:09didn't want to eat his food. I just sent him to dinner.
- 1:21:11I sent him to to bed and it was like the sun was still up.
- 1:21:14And so my wife is like, you can't do that.
- 1:21:17I'm like, I can. Absolutely.
- 1:21:19I'm literally it's happening now.
- 1:21:20Beat it, kid. Go to bed, go to bed.
- 1:21:22I will not see you again. And he's crying and I'm like,
- 1:21:25cry quiet. You may cry, but you have to cry
- 1:21:27quietly. If you want to cry loud, I will
- 1:21:31come spank you for it until you learn to cry quietly.
- 1:21:34And so and some people like you're being harsh.
- 1:21:36I'm like, no, I'm solving a problem.
- 1:21:37I'm training my son. I, I love him enough to do this.
- 1:21:40This is hard to do. This was hard on me.
- 1:21:43A few 8 hours later a meeting was called.
- 1:21:47My son summoned me and I went and he was ready to eat and I
- 1:21:51took him his cold dinner. And I remember him.
- 1:21:53I remember it so vividly. And he was eating spoonful after
- 1:21:56spoonful, happily, smile on his face and big tears rolling down
- 1:22:02his chubby cheeks as he ate that food.
- 1:22:04And he'd known. If you don't eat it tonight,
- 1:22:06this will be your breakfast. If you don't eat it for
- 1:22:09breakfast tomorrow, that's fine as well.
- 1:22:11You never have to eat again. But when you do, son, it will be
- 1:22:15this meal. So help me God, you will never
- 1:22:18eat again. But this will be.
- 1:22:19And we never had a problem again.
- 1:22:20It was done. She begged him to eat for two
- 1:22:22years. I can solve this problem in one
- 1:22:25night. And that was the loving, right
- 1:22:27thing to do. So respect your husband's
- 1:22:30ladies, allow him to parent, allow him to get in there and
- 1:22:34show him the role of a mom, the role of a dad, and how that
- 1:22:37works together. But if you model a good
- 1:22:39marriage, they'll grow up to be strong men and be able to be
- 1:22:42capable of a good marriage. Love it, love it.
