- 0:00Speaker 1: Welcome to Just the Cats with Michael Bennett. Hello, Big
- 0:10Speaker 1: Blue Nation, Welcome to justin Cats. My name is Michael
- 0:15Speaker 1: Bennett on this April twenty fourth Friday. Yeah, exactly. Honestly,
- 0:21Speaker 1: that's kind of how I feel today too, I will say,
- 0:23Speaker 1: because but I've already been up a long time today.
- 0:28Speaker 1: So justin good morning, by the way, good morning. I
- 0:31Speaker 1: will you know, just like I told you a couple
- 0:33Speaker 1: of minutes, I cannot get this thing to stay straight.
- 0:36Speaker 1: That's what she said. But anyway, okay, fine, it will
- 0:42Speaker 1: didn't she she will one day. She didn't have the
- 0:44Speaker 1: Oh no, but that opportunity will present itself. Trust me.
- 0:48Speaker 1: Come on, if I can find the girl that will
- 0:51Speaker 1: marry me, you certainly can. I mean, good gosh, do
- 0:54Speaker 1: you feel sorry for Patricia on a daily basis? Because
- 0:57Speaker 1: I do?
- 0:57Speaker 2: No, not really, Oh I do daily basis? Oh I
- 1:01Speaker 2: did weekly?
- 1:01Speaker 1: Maybe? Oh? Come on, but I you know, it's funny
- 1:05Speaker 1: you're signing off your show as if nobody's gonna hear
- 1:09Speaker 1: your voice again. Of course you're on two minutes later.
- 1:13Speaker 1: I do love that. I love the way that you
- 1:15Speaker 1: are with that they're not gonna hear my voice again
- 1:17Speaker 1: on Sunrise with Scoots until Monday. That's very true. That
- 1:20Speaker 1: is true. But they're gonna hear you on Just the
- 1:22Speaker 1: Cats in just a minute, so and whatever other shows
- 1:25Speaker 1: you're assisting with on a daily basis that you do.
- 1:28Speaker 1: But I, you know, I appreciate that you're here. But
- 1:30Speaker 1: I've been up since four o'clock this morning. That's entirely
- 1:33Speaker 1: too early. No, it's not. I love it. And I
- 1:36Speaker 1: went out to Churchill Down's, got there about five o'clock,
- 1:39Speaker 1: watched the horses work out, got to watch my good
- 1:44Speaker 1: friends Hans and On Amaron of Saints or Sinners who
- 1:47Speaker 1: own so Happy the horse in the Kentucky Derby. So
- 1:50Speaker 1: that was fun. Got to hang out with him for
- 1:51Speaker 1: a little bit, got some good video, got some good
- 1:54Speaker 1: video of Mark Klatt watching his first Derby horse go by.
- 1:59Speaker 1: I enjoyed it. Then I walked out and this lady
- 2:03Speaker 1: stops me. Excuse me to her? Are you I'm Michael Bennett?
- 2:08Speaker 1: Why I need to know who you are? I'm like, okay,
- 2:16Speaker 1: I I uh I, I I was what. I didn't
- 2:20Speaker 1: know how to answer her. I'm like, well, I was
- 2:23Speaker 1: with some friends watching their horse work out. Here, I've
- 2:25Speaker 1: got some horse on the back side, I mean, and
- 2:27Speaker 1: she goes, oh, okay, so you're you're you're uh, I
- 2:30Speaker 1: just want to know how you got in here, and
- 2:32Speaker 1: I said, well, I walked into the store and this
- 2:33Speaker 1: guy helped me out here, get three here, gosh, oh
- 2:36Speaker 1: my gosh. Finally, I just said, well, you don't need
- 2:39Speaker 1: to know who I am, and I'm just you know,
- 2:41Speaker 1: I put I had a little smile on my face
- 2:43Speaker 1: and the other guy was laughing. She did not laugh
- 2:45Speaker 1: at all. She just glared at me. She goes, it's
- 2:50Speaker 1: my job to know who you are. And I said, ma'am,
- 2:54Speaker 1: I was just kidding. I hope you have a great Friday,
- 2:58Speaker 1: and she didn't smile up. They must not have got
- 3:01Speaker 1: a donut delivery to wow. I don't know. I mean, shit,
- 3:05Speaker 1: I just need to know if you're an employee of
- 3:07Speaker 1: Churchill Downs, are who you are. It's like, okay, all right,
- 3:11Speaker 1: I mean, I fully said my name. I said, well,
- 3:13Speaker 1: I got an owner's past that gets me back here,
- 3:16Speaker 1: and she goes, oh okay, And I just I was
- 3:19Speaker 1: just trying to make light of it because she was
- 3:22Speaker 1: a little too serious. You're literally wearing a hat that
- 3:25Speaker 1: has a stable I know, exactly, and I have a
- 3:27Speaker 1: little jockey silk on the side. Do you think that
- 3:29Speaker 1: would be kind of a dead giveaway? But you know,
- 3:32Speaker 1: some people like to have a little power trip and
- 3:34Speaker 1: I just I wanted to make light of it and
- 3:37Speaker 1: just have a little fun because she was a little
- 3:38Speaker 1: too serious. But she didn't, she did not go for it.
- 3:41Speaker 1: You know, there there are people out there. Did we
- 3:43Speaker 1: talk about this last couple of days you just can't
- 3:45Speaker 1: tease with Yeah, And I just I think that's sad.
- 3:50Speaker 1: Just like the name of the horse that my friends owned,
- 3:54Speaker 1: so happy they it's a joke. It's a joke to
- 3:59Speaker 1: their trainer, Mark Glatt, who never smiles, who does not
- 4:03Speaker 1: have much of a personality and love, and he laughs
- 4:06Speaker 1: about it now. He loves and embraces the fact that
- 4:10Speaker 1: they named a horse that makes fun of him. And see,
- 4:13Speaker 1: I love that if somebody made a horse. You know,
- 4:15Speaker 1: people are constantly making fun of me, people I don't know,
- 4:19Speaker 1: people I've known for many years, and I embrace that.
- 4:22Speaker 1: I think it's funny for the most part. What's that
- 4:25Speaker 1: you make it easy? I do make it easy, I
- 4:27Speaker 1: know I do. And when I make it so easy,
- 4:30Speaker 1: when I tease something up, I'll even make fun of me,
- 4:32Speaker 1: and I'm okay with that. I just listen. If you
- 4:35Speaker 1: can't laugh, then how do you enjoy life? So I
- 4:37Speaker 1: don't know. I just it's just like, what are you okay, ma'am?
- 4:40Speaker 1: That's what I really wanted to say, Are you okay?
- 4:43Speaker 1: And she goes, Oh, I have a nice weekend, I said, ma'am,
- 4:45Speaker 1: I hope you have one too. I just walked out
- 4:48Speaker 1: and I just kind of I just guy shook my
- 4:49Speaker 1: head and walked out. It's like, Wow, what an experience
- 4:52Speaker 1: I've had this week. I've had countless cars pull out
- 4:56Speaker 1: in front of me, almost wrecked me, and in the
- 4:58Speaker 1: night's I had a wreck this morning with a So anyway,
- 5:02Speaker 1: I hope this is not kind of the prediction of
- 5:06Speaker 1: how my week is gonna go with Derby Week, so
- 5:09Speaker 1: but I'm looking forward to it. The balloons were fun
- 5:11Speaker 1: to see this morning, as you mentioned just a little
- 5:13Speaker 1: bit ago, that was cool. Is there? I know I
- 5:17Speaker 1: asked you earlier to speak, but remind me what is
- 5:19Speaker 1: your favorite outside of the race that is your favorite event?
- 5:25Speaker 1: Thunder over lit? Okay? Is there anything else during Derby
- 5:28Speaker 1: Week that is fun to you?
- 5:30Speaker 2: I mean, I think a lot of the events are fun.
- 5:32Speaker 2: I just I don't attend to them. Like I don't either.
- 5:35Speaker 2: Like I think the hot Air balloon race I think
- 5:36Speaker 2: is awesome. The balloon Glow I think is really cool.
- 5:39Speaker 2: I think that balloon glow is beautiful. I have been
- 5:41Speaker 2: to the balloon Glow on a couple of different occasions,
- 5:44Speaker 2: but not for many many years. Yeah, I've never been
- 5:47Speaker 2: to it, But I think the whole duck, the rubber
- 5:50Speaker 2: duck thing's pretty cool where they just dump all those
- 5:52Speaker 2: in the river.
- 5:53Speaker 1: Is that a Derby week thing? Yeah, it is, okay.
- 5:55Speaker 2: They got a huge inflatable duck on top of the
- 5:59Speaker 2: building next to you was crab shot.
- 6:01Speaker 1: Have you seen these snails around town? I've not seen one.
- 6:04Speaker 1: I've been looking everywhere. I cannot find them anywhere. I
- 6:07Speaker 1: have seen a couple of them, So I know it's
- 6:10Speaker 1: for something, awareness of something, but what is it?
- 6:13Speaker 2: So every snail, to my knowledge, every snail's got a
- 6:18Speaker 2: QR code on it. Yes that if you take a
- 6:20Speaker 2: picture of or whatever, it'll lead you to website. But
- 6:23Speaker 2: I think every snail is tied to a different sort
- 6:27Speaker 2: of what's the word I'm looking for?
- 6:30Speaker 1: Charity? I guess. Oh, it is like one of the foundation.
- 6:33Speaker 2: Maybe one of them I think is maybe like autism awareness,
- 6:36Speaker 2: and then the other two are something different. So it
- 6:38Speaker 2: is a really cool idea.
- 6:39Speaker 1: Is that something the city of Louisville did.
- 6:41Speaker 2: I don't think so, because I think they've went across
- 6:44Speaker 2: the whole state. Oh really, I want to say this
- 6:47Speaker 2: is maybe a national thing.
- 6:48Speaker 1: Oh I didn't realize. I thought that was just a
- 6:51Speaker 1: Louisville thing. So you think it's across the state.
- 6:53Speaker 2: I'm not one hundred percent sure, but I want to
- 6:55Speaker 2: say it's it's even more bigger than the state. I
- 6:57Speaker 2: want to say it's national lovenation we're.
- 7:00Speaker 1: Giving right now. This is across the world. You can
- 7:03Speaker 1: go to Italy and find these snaps.
- 7:05Speaker 2: Yeah they're I mean they're floating across the Pacific Ocean.
- 7:08Speaker 1: Yeah, I do. I enjoy giving misinformation. So yes, this
- 7:14Speaker 1: is something that we're celebrating all the way. I think
- 7:16Speaker 1: that the Artemis drops them off towards the moon, so
- 7:19Speaker 1: if you're traveling that way you might see one.
- 7:21Speaker 2: Okay, it is Louisville, Okay, it is just they originated
- 7:24Speaker 2: in Goshen and they are Oh really, there's thirty five
- 7:29Speaker 2: of them. I thought there was only like three, but
- 7:31Speaker 2: there's thirty five of them. They're they're heading to the
- 7:33Speaker 2: twenty one Sea Museum.
- 7:35Speaker 1: That makes sense because of the penguins. Wait, I bet
- 7:38Speaker 1: you well. They're famous for the penguins. The twenty one
- 7:43Speaker 1: Sea Hotel has penguins down there. You didn't know that.
- 7:45Speaker 1: You can actually go by. It's like their mascot or something.
- 7:49Speaker 1: It's a cool place. So got a great restaurant by
- 7:52Speaker 1: the way. Yeah, they have a dish called grilled octopus. Oh,
- 7:56Speaker 1: maybe i'll see one when I go through downtown to them. Yeah,
- 7:59Speaker 1: I've seen a couple of there's one down there by
- 8:01Speaker 1: uh the river, around the bridges or something down there
- 8:04Speaker 1: in River Road.
- 8:05Speaker 2: I did see that they were there a couple of
- 8:06Speaker 2: days ago, but I don't know I missed them.
- 8:08Speaker 1: Are they constantly moving them? Yeah?
- 8:10Speaker 2: No, that they they moved there on their own. What Yeah,
- 8:14Speaker 2: people aren't moving. These snails are literally moving on their own.
- 8:18Speaker 2: They get into traffic, No, they I mean they're staying
- 8:21Speaker 2: on like sidewalks and stuff or going through grass.
- 8:24Speaker 1: Okay, that's weird. Yeah, I like it. That's cool. I
- 8:27Speaker 1: like the idea, and I like that that the city's
- 8:30Speaker 1: doing something like this, So anyway.
- 8:31Speaker 2: The aim is to support Norton Cancer Institute breast health program.
- 8:35Speaker 1: There you go is what it's. Yeah, so it's gone
- 8:38Speaker 1: from it's all over the country, it's all over the world.
- 8:41Speaker 1: Are multiple foundations, and it's now down to one thing
- 8:47Speaker 1: and only the City of Louisville. I love countless misinformation
- 8:52Speaker 1: that you gave within the last two minutes.
- 8:54Speaker 2: It turns out I knew absolutely nothing about these snails.
- 9:00Speaker 1: You are just the encyclopedia that I needed. I didn't
- 9:04Speaker 1: know that I need, so thank you very much for
- 9:06Speaker 1: all that. So yeah, I'll go ahead and announce to
- 9:09Speaker 1: everyone that and it'll be all the wrong information. So
- 9:13Speaker 1: when I won't get to the fact, just call you anyway.
- 9:17Speaker 1: But it's Friday. I'm looking forward to the weekend, and yes,
- 9:20Speaker 1: I am looking forward to Derby Week, even though it
- 9:23Speaker 1: creates a lot of crowd and I gotta be around it.
- 9:25Speaker 1: But it'll be fine. I've already got it. All starts
- 9:30Speaker 1: for me as soon as this show's over. I mean,
- 9:32Speaker 1: I'm go, go, go, and it just doesn't stop. So
- 9:35Speaker 1: I'm already tired. But it'll be fun week, and you
- 9:37Speaker 1: know you and I you'll do your show as long
- 9:40Speaker 1: as as well as just the cats next week at
- 9:43Speaker 1: the backside. So we encourage you if you have one
- 9:46Speaker 1: of the accesses to get back to the backside of
- 9:49Speaker 1: Churchill Downs, please come say hello to us.
- 9:51Speaker 2: Oh you can get back there next week. Anybody can
- 9:53Speaker 2: get back there next week.
- 9:54Speaker 1: Right. See, there's another misinformation, so I appreciate it. It
- 9:58Speaker 1: is not true. You have to have a past, you
- 10:01Speaker 1: have to know an owner, a trainer or somebody back
- 10:05Speaker 1: there to get in. You cannot walk back there.
- 10:08Speaker 2: Well then where all these like school kids coming.
- 10:10Speaker 1: From somebody's allowed them to come back there? You cannot.
- 10:14Speaker 1: You do not. So please, if you think you can
- 10:17Speaker 1: get to the backside of Churchill Downs, don't do it.
- 10:19Speaker 1: You can't hit me up. Yeah, you cannot do that.
- 10:23Speaker 1: Now you can go to the front side, so where
- 10:26Speaker 1: the clubhouse and the grand stands are. You can go
- 10:28Speaker 1: there and watch because they have done at the Downs,
- 10:30Speaker 1: which is a lot of fun. But you can't go
- 10:32Speaker 1: to the backside. Okay, so stop saying that that's not allowed.
- 10:36Speaker 1: But yeah, there's no way.
- 10:38Speaker 2: All the people that are back there know an owner,
- 10:40Speaker 2: a trainer or something to get.
- 10:41Speaker 1: To the back yeah, there's no way. Okay, well don't
- 10:44Speaker 1: buy them. Stop stop saying that you're gonna have a
- 10:46Speaker 1: lot of people there and they're gonna give you a
- 10:48Speaker 1: hard time. So anyway, they don't know who I am. Yeah, exactly,
- 10:53Speaker 1: Well and you think they know who I am? So no, anyway,
- 10:57Speaker 1: Uh but yeah, well we'll have a good time. So
- 10:59Speaker 1: I I look forward to probably just the horse racing itself.
- 11:04Speaker 1: I mean, I'm gonna go out to Churchill Downs tomorrow
- 11:06Speaker 1: and Sunday. They haven't done Sunday racing of Derby Week
- 11:09Speaker 1: in a long time. I'm looking forward to that. And
- 11:12Speaker 1: you know, I always it's nice when they open Keenland up,
- 11:15Speaker 1: but I love it more because when they opened Churchill
- 11:18Speaker 1: just because it's in our town. I mean, I know,
- 11:21Speaker 1: Keenland is in a beautiful spot. Churchill Downs is not.
- 11:24Speaker 1: I get it. But think about it. One hundred and
- 11:27Speaker 1: fifty two years ago, do you think Louisville was developed
- 11:30Speaker 1: as much as it is today? No? No, that was
- 11:33Speaker 1: probably country back then, don't you think probably? I would
- 11:37Speaker 1: think so. I don't know, have you ever.
- 11:38Speaker 2: Seen the first renditions of Churchill Downs, like when it
- 11:43Speaker 2: first became a thing.
- 11:44Speaker 1: I have a picture of it. God, it looks weird. Yeah,
- 11:47Speaker 1: it does so weird. I know, I know it does.
- 11:50Speaker 1: It's just the twin spires and that's basically it. So
- 11:53Speaker 1: And you realize when I was a kid, the paddock
- 11:57Speaker 1: was in a shed. It was a large shed, but
- 12:02Speaker 1: it was under roof and you had to walk around it.
- 12:05Speaker 1: So it was under yeah, so that when it rained,
- 12:08Speaker 1: horses wouldn't get wet or anything like that. And of
- 12:10Speaker 1: course nowadays it's completely outdoors except where they saddled the
- 12:14Speaker 1: paddock is awesome. You like what they've done to the past.
- 12:17Speaker 2: I think they did an incredible job.
- 12:19Speaker 1: So do you think all the renovations that Churchill Downs
- 12:23Speaker 1: is done you like? Because my parents did not like
- 12:28Speaker 1: it at first because they thought it took away from
- 12:30Speaker 1: the traditionalist side of Churchill Downs with the twin spires. Sure,
- 12:35Speaker 1: so everything on each side kind of took away the
- 12:37Speaker 1: twin spires.
- 12:39Speaker 2: No, I mean, the twin spires are always going to
- 12:41Speaker 2: be iconic, like they're always gonna stand taller than anything else.
- 12:45Speaker 2: So I don't have any issue with them wanting to
- 12:48Speaker 2: build around. Look, you got to make things better as
- 12:50Speaker 2: time goes along, right, And I think a lot of
- 12:52Speaker 2: the changes they've made. Look, I'm not crazy about all
- 12:55Speaker 2: of them, but I've eventually come around all of them.
- 12:58Speaker 2: Like that first turn, it wasn't crazy about them doing that,
- 13:01Speaker 2: But now anytime I'm there, I think it looks really
- 13:04Speaker 2: really good and adds a ton of seating and the paddock. Yeah,
- 13:08Speaker 2: like I said, I think the paddock is just tremendous.
- 13:10Speaker 1: Yeah, because I've always felt like the greatest looking paddock
- 13:14Speaker 1: was Golf Stream, and Churchill Downs is now very similar
- 13:18Speaker 1: to Golf Stream.
- 13:19Speaker 2: I like how I just like how inclusive is maybe
- 13:23Speaker 2: not the right word, but how neat they made it
- 13:25Speaker 2: for fans to just walk up to that railing, look down,
- 13:28Speaker 2: you can watch all the horses.
- 13:30Speaker 1: It's really cool. And you know what, it gives a seat.
- 13:32Speaker 2: It gives you something that you only see on TV
- 13:36Speaker 2: that you can now see in real life.
- 13:38Speaker 1: It's the surprising part. It's a really good seat. I've
- 13:42Speaker 1: gone over there just to see, uh what the view
- 13:45Speaker 1: is like. Churchill Downs took me over there just kind
- 13:47Speaker 1: of because I was trying to get some tickets for
- 13:48Speaker 1: a large group and they said, Michael, come look at this.
- 13:51Speaker 1: I promise it's not as bad as seat as you think.
- 13:53Speaker 1: I walked over there, and I'm like, this is a
- 13:55Speaker 1: really nice seat. If you're up high over there, you
- 13:58Speaker 1: can see completely around the track, unobstructed view of the
- 14:04Speaker 1: entire track. That's what I liked. And now the only
- 14:07Speaker 1: part I don't like is that they can't get from
- 14:10Speaker 1: over there over to the clubhouse area. That would be
- 14:13Speaker 1: my biggest criticism of Churchill Downs. You're not freely allowed
- 14:17Speaker 1: to walk anywhere you want. You go to del Mar,
- 14:19Speaker 1: you go to Gulf Stream, you go to Sanna A Nita,
- 14:22Speaker 1: all these other places. Saratoga You're allowed to walk, even
- 14:25Speaker 1: on big race days, walk anywhere you want. Churchill Downs,
- 14:28Speaker 1: you gotta have a passage. It's a little frustrated the yeah,
- 14:32Speaker 1: and I don't like that strictness. Let people walk where
- 14:34Speaker 1: they want to. Now, I get it, you want a
- 14:37Speaker 1: couple of places where they can't walk, But I don't know.
- 14:40Speaker 1: It just frustrates me a little bit, but I like it.
- 14:43Speaker 1: So anyway, I think the big news from yesterday is
- 14:48Speaker 1: the whole Mitch Barnhart that has been not just the
- 14:51Speaker 1: biggest story in the state of Kentucky, not regionally, but
- 14:55Speaker 1: it's been a national story that's been on ESPN New
- 14:58Speaker 1: York Times has written a story of I mean everything,
- 15:02Speaker 1: and they came out yesterday with their uh, you know,
- 15:06Speaker 1: Eli Cappolito to the president of the university with his
- 15:09Speaker 1: comments uh and Mitch Barnhart. I'm not gonna bore you
- 15:12Speaker 1: with what they said. I think we, as as far
- 15:17Speaker 1: as all of the fan base, can take a gigantic
- 15:20Speaker 1: sigh of relief that this didn't happen. It wasn't. I
- 15:24Speaker 1: I justin. I don't think it was mean spirited. I
- 15:28Speaker 1: just think it was a point where a few of
- 15:32Speaker 1: us knuckleheads, which still makes me laugh. I'd love to
- 15:34Speaker 1: get a T shirt made. I am a part of
- 15:37Speaker 1: the knucklehead nation. That's what I'd like to see. Okay,
- 15:40Speaker 1: Charles Barkley would love it, you think, Oh, that's right,
- 15:43Speaker 1: he does. My dad always said knucklehead. Charles Barkley loves
- 15:47Speaker 1: to say knucklehead. And he also loves to say, you
- 15:49Speaker 1: know why women don't wear watches. You know that joke,
- 15:54Speaker 1: don't you, Because there's a clock on the stove. I mean,
- 15:57Speaker 1: it's just it's a joke. It's just it's but even
- 16:01Speaker 1: my wife thinks that joke is funny. But I just
- 16:04Speaker 1: I would like to have I'm a part of the
- 16:06Speaker 1: knucklehead Nation. I think that would be fun. But it's
- 16:10Speaker 1: just the fact that, if you ask me, I think
- 16:13Speaker 1: Mitch Bartenhart is the one that made this worse. The
- 16:17Speaker 1: fact that you could not ask any questions about it,
- 16:20Speaker 1: the fact that he was making all the comments, the
- 16:23Speaker 1: knucklehead comment, and I think he made it worse for himself.
- 16:28Speaker 1: If he hadn't have said anything, or if he had
- 16:32Speaker 1: just simply said, here, let me explain what this job is.
- 16:36Speaker 1: Taken fifteen minutes to answer any question that anybody had,
- 16:41Speaker 1: he would still have that position, and that money, all
- 16:44Speaker 1: those tickets benefits, and and but but the fact of
- 16:49Speaker 1: how he responded just made it a thousand times worse.
- 16:53Speaker 2: I mean, really, at the end of the day, that's
- 16:55Speaker 2: all anybody wanted to know is what does this position entail?
- 16:58Speaker 1: I think that's a logical question.
- 17:00Speaker 2: The fact that it was they were being so secretive
- 17:03Speaker 2: about it and not giving you any information. I feel
- 17:06Speaker 2: like that's what made people uncomfortable and want to rise
- 17:09Speaker 2: up against this. I mean, the freaking governor came out
- 17:13Speaker 2: and said something for crying.
- 17:14Speaker 1: Out loud, but that was political.
- 17:16Speaker 2: Yeah, but I mean, still, he made the point that
- 17:18Speaker 2: it's a position that nobody knows anything about, and that's
- 17:22Speaker 2: that's why this was such a problem.
- 17:24Speaker 1: Yeah. Well, with with Andy coming out with it, it
- 17:27Speaker 1: wasn't as sincere as I thought it and hoped that
- 17:29Speaker 1: it was. I mean, that came out and it was
- 17:31Speaker 1: all political. So I don't want to get back in
- 17:33Speaker 1: that because that's talking about politics. But I don't want
- 17:35Speaker 1: to get into it either. That was just me bringing
- 17:37Speaker 1: it up. I know, that's how bad it was the governors.
- 17:39Speaker 1: I don't care what the reasoning for it or not was.
- 17:42Speaker 1: I do, but the fact that he brought it up, yeah,
- 17:44Speaker 1: and voiced the same opinion that a lot of people
- 17:47Speaker 1: have already voiced. But again he brought it up for
- 17:50Speaker 1: a completely increase Michael, Yeah, yeah, so that's but I
- 17:54Speaker 1: look at this and think, man, he could have gotten
- 17:56Speaker 1: away with it and he didn't. And the fact that
- 17:59Speaker 1: they took them money, they took the club, they took
- 18:02Speaker 1: the insurance and the ten tickets for life. Now he's
- 18:07Speaker 1: not getting any of that. He's getting zero of it now.
- 18:10Speaker 1: It was brought up though that Eli Cappoluta was going
- 18:14Speaker 1: to raise the money personally for Mitch Barnhardt. I don't
- 18:19Speaker 1: know if a lot of people caught that or not.
- 18:22Speaker 1: So they're still going to try and raise the money.
- 18:24Speaker 1: It'll be interesting to see if they raise the money
- 18:28Speaker 1: also for tickets and everything else in the clubhouse and
- 18:32Speaker 1: all that kind of stuff. I listen. I hope not,
- 18:34Speaker 1: because I don't think anybody deserves. People kind of brushed
- 18:39Speaker 1: over the whole ticket thing. I think they don't realize
- 18:41Speaker 1: how much ten tickets for life for football and basketball
- 18:46Speaker 1: are worth financially. That's a lot of money. It's not
- 18:51Speaker 1: the five million dollars that he was going to get,
- 18:54Speaker 1: but it's still that's a lot of money for life.
- 18:57Speaker 1: You look at that and you think of the life
- 19:00Speaker 1: expectancy between he and his wife. You're thinking twenty twenty five,
- 19:05Speaker 1: maybe thirty years. Well, it's not like they're going to
- 19:07Speaker 1: be in the balcony either. You know they're going to
- 19:09Speaker 1: be forced exactly exactly. So how much do those cost?
- 19:13Speaker 1: You multiply by that ten times each year for both
- 19:18Speaker 1: that's a lot of money justin so I credit Brian
- 19:23Speaker 1: Setzer and the guy that really brought it to Fruition,
- 19:27Speaker 1: and hopefully they change it back to where the Board
- 19:30Speaker 1: of Trustees do have to approve. It can't be just
- 19:34Speaker 1: the president of the university. Now, what do you think
- 19:38Speaker 1: happens to Eli Appaluto? That's what I want to talk
- 19:41Speaker 1: about next. So let's go ahead and take our first break.
- 19:43Speaker 1: Five O two three eight four fourteen fifty five O
- 19:45Speaker 1: two four one four fourteen fifty or you can tweet
- 19:48Speaker 1: me at just the Cat Radio. We'll get to your
- 19:50Speaker 1: text as soon as we get back as well. And Uh,
- 19:53Speaker 1: looks like somebody got a contract just down the street
- 19:57Speaker 1: from us. It's uh, why did that take so long
- 20:01Speaker 1: for U of L? So we'll talk about that too.
- 20:03Speaker 1: And uh, and who is the likely candidate of the
- 20:09Speaker 1: University of Kentucky for the athletic directorship? We'll talk about
- 20:13Speaker 1: that too, because another brand new name has been introduced.
- 20:17Speaker 1: So we got a lot to talk about today. Yes,
- 20:20Speaker 1: you can join us. We'll see him in. This is
- 20:22Speaker 1: Jessica's Nothing makes me happier than seeing you run out
- 21:06Speaker 1: of my studio and there's dead air. I mean, that
- 21:09Speaker 1: just makes me smile every time it happens, and it
- 21:11Speaker 1: seems like it's happening more and more. I even started
- 21:14Speaker 1: a freaking timer. It's Okay, I listen out of you
- 21:22Speaker 1: and I are here to have fun. Okay. If other
- 21:25Speaker 1: people want to join us, I'm happy that they're a
- 21:27Speaker 1: part of it. But it doesn't bother me that kind
- 21:30Speaker 1: of stuff happens.
- 21:30Speaker 2: I mean, if we're here to have fun, then I
- 21:32Speaker 2: need to avoid the running because running's not fun and
- 21:34Speaker 2: can just.
- 21:35Speaker 1: Walk back over there. It does not bother me that.
- 21:37Speaker 1: You know, the technical issue we had a couple of
- 21:40Speaker 1: weeks ago that I'm not there. There is not anything
- 21:43Speaker 1: you are going to do on this show that's going
- 21:45Speaker 1: to make me angry. There just isn't.
- 21:48Speaker 2: I understand that. But dead air makes me angry. Okay, well,
- 21:50Speaker 2: because that's because that's my job to avoid I know.
- 21:54Speaker 2: But even if it is only a few seconds, that's
- 21:56Speaker 2: still my job.
- 21:57Speaker 1: It's okay, it doesn't. Are we on YouTube today? By
- 22:00Speaker 1: the way? Okay if you want to go, uh search
- 22:03Speaker 1: it YouTube Big X Sports Radio Louisville. Uh, you can
- 22:06Speaker 1: see us on the radio, so I mean on the
- 22:08Speaker 1: on the YouTuber. Uh. Yeah. I just hope one day
- 22:11Speaker 1: I can call them up to come here and film
- 22:13Speaker 1: for us as well. So maybe they can film for
- 22:16Speaker 1: us at Churchill Downs. Who do you call it YouTube
- 22:18Speaker 1: to do that kind of stuff. I don't know, but
- 22:21Speaker 1: that okay, good, I'm just a joke. Think Netflix will
- 22:23Speaker 1: be there. I missed that. What was that two years
- 22:26Speaker 1: ago that they did? I believe it was. I'm almost
- 22:29Speaker 1: positive it was two years ago and they didn't do
- 22:32Speaker 1: another season of it. I thought it was a fantastic show.
- 22:36Speaker 1: I thought that's something that they should do every year.
- 22:38Speaker 1: I did too.
- 22:38Speaker 2: So we're gonna have to keep our eyes out if
- 22:40Speaker 2: you see anything. I don't think so Netflix cameras around.
- 22:43Speaker 2: I want to get on I want to get on Netflix.
- 22:45Speaker 2: My car was on it. I want to get on it.
- 22:48Speaker 1: Really Okay, Well, if you hang out with me a
- 22:50Speaker 1: little bit this week, you'll get on a lot of
- 22:53Speaker 1: cameras because I'll be with my friends that don't so
- 22:56Speaker 1: happy because that I'm telling you, it's the feel good story.
- 23:00Speaker 1: The Derby Mike Smith, I talked to him this morning,
- 23:03Speaker 1: the famous jockey. He's gonna try and come on with us.
- 23:06Speaker 1: I'm going to try and get Mark Glatt. But we'll
- 23:09Speaker 1: see if he does, and you'll see what. Kay. I
- 23:11Speaker 1: want your opinion on his personality. I love Mark Glatt,
- 23:14Speaker 1: but he doesn't have a personality for radio. Okay, he's
- 23:18Speaker 1: the complete opposite of me. Yeah, I'm a nut job.
- 23:21Speaker 1: He's sensible. He just doesn't have much to say. Yeah, well,
- 23:24Speaker 1: what do you do when you're trying to have a
- 23:26Speaker 1: conversation with somebody and they don't want to talk you
- 23:29Speaker 1: just what do you do? You just stop talking?
- 23:32Speaker 2: I mean you just keep hoping and praying that something
- 23:36Speaker 2: you ask them is gonna lead to a good long
- 23:39Speaker 2: It's kind of like interviewing a high school kid, right
- 23:41Speaker 2: if you if they had some great accomplishment in sports
- 23:44Speaker 2: and you you're like, all right, let's get them on,
- 23:46Speaker 2: and then they just give you yes sir, No, sir.
- 23:50Speaker 1: It's like, but buddy, you gotta give me a little
- 23:51Speaker 1: bit more than that. Okay, he's got to keep pressing. Yeah,
- 23:54Speaker 1: And I think you're right. But sometimes they they might
- 23:57Speaker 1: press back and say no, I'm not gonna give you anything.
- 24:00Speaker 1: You know, you get that personally. One person texted in, hey,
- 24:03Speaker 1: Rock put up a mustache on Michael and put him
- 24:06Speaker 1: in a Bob and Tom's shirt. No oh, there's no
- 24:11Speaker 1: picture there. Yeah, thank goodness, sang it. Yeah, thank you.
- 24:14Speaker 1: I was hoping to see that. Let's see John here Hey, Michael,
- 24:21Speaker 1: I think you are all cool dude all the way around,
- 24:23Speaker 1: no matter what people say about you. Hey, I hope
- 24:26Speaker 1: they find a good GM and athletic director for our cats.
- 24:29Speaker 1: Should the university replace that Elek Capoluto as well. Hey Michael,
- 24:34Speaker 1: have a great weekend my friend and you as well, Justin.
- 24:37Speaker 1: But please be nicer to Michael. That's no fun job.
- 24:41Speaker 1: Oh I listen, I'm right there with you, Justin. I
- 24:45Speaker 1: don't want you to be nicer. You know, my last producer,
- 24:48Speaker 1: I had lunch with him a little earlier this week.
- 24:50Speaker 1: I told you I was going to do that. I
- 24:52Speaker 1: didn't tell the listeners, but he just knock, knock knock.
- 24:55Speaker 1: I mean, he just cut me the entire lunch, and
- 24:58Speaker 1: I just laughed. When you do the same thing to me,
- 25:01Speaker 1: I just laugh. I enjoy it. I think it's enduring
- 25:03Speaker 1: when people joke with me and make fun of me.
- 25:06Speaker 1: I think for the most part, they do it because
- 25:08Speaker 1: they like me. Now, when it's mean spirited, I don't
- 25:11Speaker 1: care for that. But you know, I think y'all just
- 25:13Speaker 1: do it because you want to laugh at my expense,
- 25:17Speaker 1: for sure, especially when you little yeah like Bob Kaoe.
- 25:19Speaker 1: I do not look like that guy whoever he is,
- 25:23Speaker 1: all right, Eli Cappoluto, I think that's a great question.
- 25:26Speaker 1: I think all that has gone through, all that has
- 25:29Speaker 1: transpired with the university and Mitch Barnhardt, I really believe
- 25:36Speaker 1: that Eli Cappoluto should be the next to step down.
- 25:39Speaker 1: I think that if he's not going to be forced
- 25:44Speaker 1: to just say, hey, thank you very much, I'm retiring,
- 25:47Speaker 1: I think that the Board of trustees should really strongly
- 25:51Speaker 1: look that if he doesn't, then we need to maybe
- 25:55Speaker 1: take this in our own hands. Isn't he like eighty
- 25:58Speaker 1: he's up there in eight Yeah. I don't think he's eighty,
- 26:02Speaker 1: but I think he's pretty close. So you think that's
- 26:05Speaker 1: pretty harsh for me to say that because it's been
- 26:08Speaker 1: really bad publicity that the university has gotten this week.
- 26:12Speaker 2: Yeah, No, I mean I agree, And honestly, if you
- 26:16Speaker 2: think about all the things that Mitch Barnhardt's had to
- 26:20Speaker 2: endure with scandals and all that, and Eli Appoluto the
- 26:23Speaker 2: whole time has been the guy above him that has
- 26:26Speaker 2: just kind of let it all slide by. Yeah, I mean,
- 26:29Speaker 2: I do think there should be grounds for releasing him
- 26:33Speaker 2: as well.
- 26:33Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't think they'll fire him. But I think
- 26:36Speaker 1: they should just say, hey, listen, yeah, I mean, he
- 26:38Speaker 1: gave him nice way to tell him it's time. Your
- 26:42Speaker 1: time is over. Because here's the other problem. Give him
- 26:45Speaker 1: a chance to step down exactly. You give him that
- 26:47Speaker 1: opportunity to do it on his own, but you give
- 26:50Speaker 1: him a timeline. I say, you know what, it's time
- 26:52Speaker 1: to move on because here's the other issue. I really
- 26:55Speaker 1: don't want Eli kappolloot to pick the next athletic director,
- 26:59Speaker 1: don't you think. I think the next president coming in here,
- 27:02Speaker 1: which should be pretty soon, and I think that was
- 27:04Speaker 1: the plan the entire time, that Mitch would bow out
- 27:08Speaker 1: this year and then maybe Eli Cappollouto would would bow
- 27:12Speaker 1: out six months to a year down the road. I
- 27:15Speaker 1: think it needs to happen sooner than later now. But
- 27:18Speaker 1: the next president should be picking the athletic director. It
- 27:23Speaker 1: should not be Apple Eli Cappoluto. He should not be
- 27:27Speaker 1: picking that person. I agree. Okay, good John here again, Yep,
- 27:32Speaker 1: you're right, Michael. He brought it up up not for
- 27:36Speaker 1: the right reasons. If that would have been a buddy
- 27:40Speaker 1: of Andy Bisheer or someone that seen things the way
- 27:45Speaker 1: he did, then he would have not said a thing.
- 27:47Speaker 1: His generosity of the supposedly doing the right thing is
- 27:50Speaker 1: camouflaged by his own personal agenda and thoughts. Andy, I
- 27:55Speaker 1: couldn't agree more with you right there that that that's
- 27:58Speaker 1: that's what kind of put a damper with Andy Bashier
- 28:01Speaker 1: getting involved in this, because once he mentioned the dean
- 28:06Speaker 1: of the law school, you knew what was happening. And
- 28:08Speaker 1: this was really pointed towards the crafts and the gentleman
- 28:12Speaker 1: that has been selected for the dean. Because yes, if
- 28:15Speaker 1: this was on the same side of Andy's party, nothing
- 28:19Speaker 1: ever would have been said. And that's where I just
- 28:22Speaker 1: the insincerities there, and I didn't like it. One person
- 28:25Speaker 1: said the old paddock was too small and dangerous. Not
- 28:29Speaker 1: to mention hot. I remember standing behind Ferdinand as Charlie
- 28:34Speaker 1: tightened the girth on him got the money nineteen six
- 28:38Speaker 1: eighty six. Wow, that's forty eight handily right there. That's
- 28:42Speaker 1: pretty cool. One of these days, I'd like to meet
- 28:45Speaker 1: a lot of probably all of ours, Oh.
- 28:47Speaker 2: You and I and I met up with forty eight
- 28:50Speaker 2: handily one, Oh you did, And I told him that
- 28:52Speaker 2: you and him could just talk for hours and hours
- 28:55Speaker 2: and hours.
- 28:55Speaker 1: I believe that stuff. Yeah. See, I love history like that.
- 28:58Speaker 1: He is.
- 28:59Speaker 2: He is probably I've met a lot of passionate horse
- 29:02Speaker 2: bracing people in my life. Yes, he might be at
- 29:05Speaker 2: the very top of it, really.
- 29:07Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 29:07Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean his name on the text lines forty
- 29:10Speaker 2: and handily for crying out loud.
- 29:12Speaker 1: Yeah, listen, that's the way it is with me and
- 29:15Speaker 1: Oscar Combs. When Oscar calls me, I bet I get
- 29:18Speaker 1: five words in and I'll be on the phone with
- 29:21Speaker 1: him for half an hour to forty five minutes. And
- 29:22Speaker 1: he's just going after history, history, history, history. It's a
- 29:25Speaker 1: history lesson, and I love every second of it. One
- 29:29Speaker 1: person said it's similar to to today's crosstalk Scoots wanted
- 29:33Speaker 1: to talk, You yelled at him. Yeah, he was knocking
- 29:38Speaker 1: me down. I mean, come on, man, Zach texted out.
- 29:41Speaker 1: He said, just because you're a nut doesn't necessarily mean
- 29:44Speaker 1: you mean for radio, but it certainly helps.
- 29:52Speaker 2: Just because you're a nut doesn't necessarily mean you're mean
- 29:55Speaker 2: for radio, but it's certainly he'll I'll get it.
- 29:57Speaker 1: Yeah, that's your being in it. It is being nutty
- 30:02Speaker 1: makes you better a radio, is what he's saying. I
- 30:05Speaker 1: guess I don't know, just because you're nut doesn't necessarily
- 30:08Speaker 1: mean your mean for radio, but it certainly helps beat
- 30:13Speaker 1: Englis get it together. I think he's saying, just just
- 30:16Speaker 1: doesn't mean that.
- 30:17Speaker 2: You're mean that Floyd Central Education is it really Okay? Well,
- 30:20Speaker 2: that says a lot right there. So, by the way,
- 30:23Speaker 2: speaking of Floyd Central, I saw a video this weekend
- 30:27Speaker 2: or the earlier this week from Floyd Central High School
- 30:30Speaker 2: in Kentucky. Have you ever seen their baseball field?
- 30:33Speaker 1: Oh, with the rocks in the back.
- 30:35Speaker 2: That is one of the coolest things I've ever seen
- 30:38Speaker 2: in my entire life.
- 30:39Speaker 1: I've only seen pictures of it, and I've always wanted
- 30:41Speaker 1: to go see it. There live so cool. Yeah, I
- 30:44Speaker 1: want to play on that field. So yeah, there's a
- 30:46Speaker 1: guy on TikTok that breaks into uh or sneaks into
- 30:50Speaker 1: baseball stadiums m and tries dat to homer and tries
- 30:53Speaker 1: to hit home. Right, that's the video I saw them.
- 30:55Speaker 1: Okay he went there, he goes, Yeah, I'm doing a
- 30:58Speaker 1: little bit something that I don't normally do. But this
- 31:00Speaker 1: is one of the coolest places ever been and it
- 31:02Speaker 1: was Floyd Central. It's like, that's pretty I think there's
- 31:05Speaker 1: one if somebody one of our Eastern Kentucky listeners could
- 31:09Speaker 1: help me out here. I think there's one in Eastern
- 31:12Speaker 1: Kentucky very similar to Floyd Central, where it has that
- 31:15Speaker 1: backdrop of a large cliff and it's absolutely amazing. I
- 31:22Speaker 1: need to we need to be invited by the head
- 31:25Speaker 1: coach at Florid Floyd Central to come over there maybe
- 31:27Speaker 1: do a radio show. No, i'd go, which I would do?
- 31:31Speaker 1: Do you know the Floyd Central baseball coach? No? Yeah,
- 31:34Speaker 1: If anybody knows the Floyd Central baseball coach, get a
- 31:36Speaker 1: hold of him telling Michael Bennett would like to do
- 31:38Speaker 1: a radio show over there at his baseball field. I
- 31:40Speaker 1: think that would be a lot of fun.
- 31:41Speaker 2: I know Henry Clay's freshman coach listens to the show
- 31:44Speaker 2: from time to time.
- 31:45Speaker 1: Does it really Henry Clay? And Lexington the baseball coach does?
- 31:50Speaker 1: What's his name? Tim? Tim does? How do you know?
- 31:54Speaker 1: I don't have Twitter, so I can't go look it up. Well,
- 31:56Speaker 1: how do you know that he does? Because he's we've
- 31:59Speaker 1: messaged back fourth, have you really? Yeah? Okay, I talked
- 32:02Speaker 1: to a lot of our listeners Michael, Oh, okay, and
- 32:05Speaker 1: then you know that's nice to you. This is the
- 32:08Speaker 1: very reason why one of these days we've got to
- 32:11Speaker 1: figure a spot to do a live remote, because I
- 32:13Speaker 1: think we'd have a lot of people show up, and
- 32:15Speaker 1: I would like to and I mean this sincerely, I
- 32:18Speaker 1: would like to meet a lot of them. Now, granted,
- 32:21Speaker 1: there are a lot of them that don't live here locally.
- 32:23Speaker 1: They live all over the state in some other places.
- 32:25Speaker 1: Like the guy in Greece, he didn't live here. I mean,
- 32:28Speaker 1: that'd be a tough trip for him to come here.
- 32:30Speaker 1: And I'd even want to make that true well, because
- 32:32Speaker 1: he'd want to meet Michael Bennett and Justin Pley. That's
- 32:35Speaker 1: why it's not as cool as grease. Well that that
- 32:37Speaker 1: part is true. But but except when the bombings are
- 32:40Speaker 1: happening over there, that's not a really cool place. Yeah
- 32:42Speaker 1: it's it's it's it's pretty in an explosive area, but yeah,
- 32:46Speaker 1: it's something deals with bombing. Remember he said he was
- 32:49Speaker 1: getting some bombs there from really Oh yeah, I don't
- 32:52Speaker 1: remember that. Yeah from Iran. Oh yeah, that was crazy
- 32:56Speaker 1: talk right there. But all right, now let's talk about
- 33:00Speaker 1: ad because that has not been mentioned a bit at all,
- 33:05Speaker 1: and I think a lot of it purely was because
- 33:08Speaker 1: of the damper with Mitch Barnhart, and maybe nobody was interested.
- 33:12Speaker 1: But there has been another name. You know, everybody's been
- 33:15Speaker 1: talking about Dwayne Peevie. I think Dwayne Now he's turned
- 33:19Speaker 1: it down because he's signed an extension with DePaul. A
- 33:22Speaker 1: lot of people been talking about Mark Hill, who's the
- 33:24Speaker 1: number two guy under Mitch Barnhart. And then another name
- 33:28Speaker 1: just came up. His name is Jeremiah Dickey and he's
- 33:34Speaker 1: the athletic director at Boise State. So he's got the
- 33:38Speaker 1: blue field out there. Of course. Originally from El Paso, Texas,
- 33:43Speaker 1: he started his career out at UTEP and as a
- 33:47Speaker 1: marketing promotions guide two thousand and three, went there to
- 33:50Speaker 1: Akron for something very similar, and then from there he
- 33:54Speaker 1: went to Houston and then from there he went to
- 33:59Speaker 1: Boise State and he's been there since twenty twenty one,
- 34:02Speaker 1: and this past year he was the National Athletic Director
- 34:07Speaker 1: of the Year for twenty twenty five. Does he sound
- 34:11Speaker 1: like a good candidate for UK? I mean, I know
- 34:15Speaker 1: that's not much information for you, but coming from a
- 34:18Speaker 1: school like Boise State, does that seem like he has
- 34:23Speaker 1: the experience to come to UK and run a program
- 34:28Speaker 1: like that?
- 34:29Speaker 2: Now, I don't see why not. Like, obviously I have
- 34:32Speaker 2: not been following this guy. I don't know what he's
- 34:34Speaker 2: done throughout his career, but you said something at the
- 34:37Speaker 2: end there that makes me think, well, yeah, bring him
- 34:40Speaker 2: on in Athletic Director of the Year. Seriously, Okay, like
- 34:46Speaker 2: that's enough for me, really, Okay, that is okay? Yeah,
- 34:49Speaker 2: because i'm because that means he did some really really
- 34:52Speaker 2: great things.
- 34:52Speaker 1: Yes, I'd like to know what the qualifications of being
- 34:57Speaker 1: becoming the athletic Director of the year would quit too,
- 35:01Speaker 1: I don't know, but I think that's pretty cool. At
- 35:04Speaker 1: Boise State. When you think of Boise State, what's the
- 35:07Speaker 1: first thing you think of blue Field? See, that's exactly
- 35:10Speaker 1: what I think of. So they've had some reasonably good success.
- 35:14Speaker 1: Now he was an athletic director, first time it's ever
- 35:17Speaker 1: happened at Boise State, where he fired the head football
- 35:22Speaker 1: coach in the middle of the season, hired another one,
- 35:26Speaker 1: and they got to the playoffs. That's pretty amazing. Yes,
- 35:30Speaker 1: I didn't even realize that. That's pretty amazing right there,
- 35:33Speaker 1: and pretty ballsy right there, if you ask me. I
- 35:35Speaker 1: mean that that takes a lot of guts right there
- 35:38Speaker 1: to do something like that turn around and they do that. Well,
- 35:41Speaker 1: so I am the same way. I mean, you know
- 35:44Speaker 1: the April Fools joke that UK pulled and said we're
- 35:46Speaker 1: gonna put a blue field down at Commonwealth Stateium experienced
- 35:50Speaker 1: Boise State. Oh yeah, Boise State came back, you should
- 35:55Speaker 1: have conferred with us before, you know, you didn't get
- 35:58Speaker 1: any approval from doing the blue field. Then the UK said,
- 36:00Speaker 1: well it is bluegrass like Boise he's the only school
- 36:03Speaker 1: that can have blue I would love it if they
- 36:07Speaker 1: did it one year. I know it'd be expensive, but
- 36:10Speaker 1: that would be pretty cool to just do it one year. Yeah,
- 36:13Speaker 1: I'd like it. Yeah. I mean, we've copied Tennessee with
- 36:16Speaker 1: the checkerboard. What would be wrong with copying boys checker board? No? Please, no, no.
- 36:21Speaker 1: I know there's there's one group of people on a
- 36:24Speaker 1: different show that have really made fun of the checkerboard stuff,
- 36:27Speaker 1: and may and maybe with the departure of Mitch Barnhardt,
- 36:30Speaker 1: we'll get away from the checkerboard stuff. I never really
- 36:33Speaker 1: opposed it. I mean I kind of like it. I
- 36:35Speaker 1: kind of liked it just because it was, uh, you know,
- 36:39Speaker 1: a celebration to the famous horse secretariat. People forget that
- 36:44Speaker 1: it wasn't for Tennessee.
- 36:45Speaker 2: Yeah, but when you think of checkerboard, I don't think
- 36:47Speaker 2: of horse racing. I think of auto racing. Well see,
- 36:51Speaker 2: that's very true.
- 36:52Speaker 1: Well see I think of Tennessee because it was on
- 36:54Speaker 1: the football stuff. And then you know that Tennessee is
- 36:58Speaker 1: famous for the checkerboard down there and Knoxville. That's what
- 37:01Speaker 1: I always thought of. But anyway, all right, we got
- 37:04Speaker 1: to take a break. Fablo two three four fourteen fifty.
- 37:06Speaker 1: You want to text in Fablo two four one four
- 37:08Speaker 1: fourteen fifty. Uh, I just said it backwards. Call in
- 37:11Speaker 1: three four fourteen fifty. Text in four one four fourteen fifty.
- 37:15Speaker 1: I don't give me a mean look. I was just
- 37:16Speaker 1: trying to make it correct. Okay, far from a mean look, much,
- 37:20Speaker 1: I know, I know. But or you can watch us
- 37:22Speaker 1: on YouTube right there at Big Exports Radio, Louis stay
- 37:25Speaker 1: right there. We got a lot more. Just the cats
- 37:27Speaker 1: coming up sing the song already. I like the black
- 38:19Speaker 1: piece by the way. There you go, yeah, yeah, don't
- 38:24Speaker 1: don't don't, don't not yet, not yet. See you already
- 38:27Speaker 1: turned it down. Oh you're happy to for YouTube? I
- 38:30Speaker 1: don't care. Oh you Why is that?
- 38:32Speaker 2: Because if I don't turn it down almost immediately. Yeah,
- 38:35Speaker 2: then they'll take our video down for copyright.
- 38:38Speaker 1: Oh they real? Oh geez, thanks a lot, YouTube, So
- 38:42Speaker 1: I have to like it's more like metube? Is that?
- 38:44Speaker 2: If that's the case, so I have to wait until
- 38:46Speaker 2: you start talking to even unmute the YouTube.
- 38:49Speaker 1: Oh really? Okay?
- 38:50Speaker 2: So yeah a lot of times listeners aren't even hearing
- 38:53Speaker 2: the intros and oh they're not. That stinks, it does, okay.
- 38:58Speaker 1: I like me then the way you So that's when
- 39:01Speaker 1: when I'm gone, yeah, and that in the studio, I
- 39:03Speaker 1: don't hear it, and it drives me nuts. Here I
- 39:05Speaker 1: am bobbing my head back and forth, and probably somebody's
- 39:08Speaker 1: boy think you guys got tourets or he's got Parkinson's.
- 39:11Speaker 1: I don't know which is worse. We're both. I could
- 39:13Speaker 1: have it. One person said he was kidding around it's
- 39:17Speaker 1: what friends do, and I was kidding right back with him.
- 39:21Speaker 1: I was just joking back with you. You knew that.
- 39:23Speaker 1: Oh yeah, yeah, so I don't take offense enough. Yeah,
- 39:26Speaker 1: I would agree with that. Your brother said, Minty A
- 39:31Speaker 1: and T talk to text. Just because you're a nut
- 39:35Speaker 1: doesn't necessarily mean you mint for your mint for radio,
- 39:41Speaker 1: but it certainly helps. Yea now makes Yeah, thank you, Zach,
- 39:46Speaker 1: I appreciate that. Forty A Handle said, there's a national
- 39:49Speaker 1: sports talk show host who holds meet and greets around
- 39:52Speaker 1: the country for his militia. You could do something like
- 39:56Speaker 1: that locally with your listeners. Yeah, I and you know
- 40:00Speaker 1: where we would do it exactly. We should do that
- 40:07Speaker 1: on Fridays. Everybody's in a great mood, come down to holesopple,
- 40:11Speaker 1: and let's just have some beer. Bear on, Michael, No,
- 40:14Speaker 1: we're not going that far. Now wait wait, wait, wait,
- 40:16Speaker 1: come on. Now, you know what, first ten people that
- 40:18Speaker 1: show up, I'll give him a free beer. Eh. How
- 40:20Speaker 1: do you like that? Including that? Tim? Absolutely not. But yeah,
- 40:26Speaker 1: sure i'd buy you a beer. Are you kidding me?
- 40:28Speaker 1: Of course I'd buy you beer. But that would be fun.
- 40:30Speaker 1: I think that's a great idea. All right, let's talk
- 40:32Speaker 1: about this for a little bit because I think it's important.
- 40:35Speaker 1: They're saying that the NCAA is really going ahead with
- 40:41Speaker 1: this whole five year eligibility rule, which which potentially can
- 40:45Speaker 1: start as soon as next month. So do you like
- 40:50Speaker 1: this because there's a lot of people that are really
- 40:54Speaker 1: criticizing it and here's the issue passing this five year
- 40:59Speaker 1: event LGB rule, are you going to grandfather in the
- 41:03Speaker 1: last play last year's players, Because here's the here's the problem.
- 41:08Speaker 1: If you don't, then you're gonna have all kinds of
- 41:11Speaker 1: lawsuits and uh and doing it right after the portal closes.
- 41:18Speaker 1: That would be a bad look. I mean, it's just
- 41:21Speaker 1: some of the most short sighted things that the NCA
- 41:26Speaker 1: continues to do. I don't I don't understand why. I
- 41:30Speaker 1: really don't. And the other person that really doesn't like
- 41:33Speaker 1: it that's came out immediately spoke against this, Rick Patino.
- 41:39Speaker 1: He said it would be pure chaos. Most teams have
- 41:42Speaker 1: used up absent of their NIL. Don't get me wrong.
- 41:45Speaker 1: I'd love to have my seniors back, but our NIL
- 41:49Speaker 1: is just about finished. And I think that's a great
- 41:53Speaker 1: criticism right there. I mean, I'm almost done spending my
- 41:56Speaker 1: money and you're telling me I could have kept some
- 41:58Speaker 1: of my seniors from life last year. That would have
- 42:01Speaker 1: been nice to know a few weeks back. Right That's
- 42:04Speaker 1: why the lawsuits could be a huge issue.
- 42:06Speaker 2: Here's the deal. It doesn't matter where the lawsuits are
- 42:10Speaker 2: coming from. They're going to come from somewhere, whether it's
- 42:13Speaker 2: from somebody who got screwed out of a fifth year
- 42:16Speaker 2: or whether they passed this role. You're gonna have guys
- 42:20Speaker 2: that won a sixth year that are gonna sue them
- 42:23Speaker 2: for a sixth Like the NCAAA is always gonna be,
- 42:27Speaker 2: always gonna be in court because they just they never
- 42:29Speaker 2: win those cases. So people know that they can kind
- 42:32Speaker 2: of bully the NCAA and get whatever they want out
- 42:34Speaker 2: of them. There's gonna be lawsuits along the way no
- 42:38Speaker 2: matter what you do.
- 42:39Speaker 1: Yeah, because you know, I guarantee you Pavia Diego would
- 42:43Speaker 1: have been back at Vanderbilt. You talk about a lawsuit
- 42:46Speaker 1: there because he wanted to say he was trying to
- 42:48Speaker 1: get the courts to agree that he could say another
- 42:50Speaker 1: year because he's gonna make more money staying at Vanderbilt.
- 42:54Speaker 2: As opposed to going undrafted.
- 42:55Speaker 1: Yeah, I agree. Yeah, nobody picked him up last night,
- 42:58Speaker 1: I SA yeah, no, Yeah. What were your thoughts of
- 43:01Speaker 1: the NFL draft last night? On B It was awesome.
- 43:04Speaker 2: I don't think I would have enjoyed it nearly as
- 43:06Speaker 2: much if it wasn't in Pittsburgh. But being in a
- 43:09Speaker 2: place where I've spent a good chunk of time, I
- 43:12Speaker 2: just thought that was so cool.
- 43:14Speaker 1: Yeah, I agree. Did you think the coverage of he
- 43:17Speaker 1: and his family was nice? Touch? It was? Yeah, yeah,
- 43:20Speaker 1: And I know you're partial on this and I get it,
- 43:23Speaker 1: but me being completely impartial, it was fun to watch.
- 43:26Speaker 2: How about the crowd? So they had his fam his
- 43:29Speaker 2: close family and friends inside, yes, and then they panned
- 43:33Speaker 2: to the outside of his house. There were so many
- 43:36Speaker 2: people there.
- 43:38Speaker 1: I'd like to know what Florida, Florida State, and Miami
- 43:42Speaker 1: think of all this. The universities because they didn't try
- 43:48Speaker 1: to get him to come to their school.
- 43:50Speaker 2: Let the kid get out of the state and go
- 43:52Speaker 2: to cal and then to Indiana.
- 43:54Speaker 1: That's crazy place, India, exactly Indiana. Of who would have
- 43:59Speaker 1: thunk me, that's just crazy. Right there in your backyard
- 44:03Speaker 1: is a great player this That's kind of like I
- 44:05Speaker 1: go back to Randall Cobb and Phil Fullmer, the former
- 44:09Speaker 1: coach at Tennessee. Let Randall Cobb go to Kentucky. If
- 44:12Speaker 1: I was a Tennessee fan, I would have lost it.
- 44:14Speaker 1: Just like with Mendoza. It's like, what were you thinking
- 44:17Speaker 1: by not recruiting this young man to come here? We
- 44:19Speaker 1: could have been the national champ.
- 44:21Speaker 2: Imagine if Miami had him instead of Carson.
- 44:23Speaker 1: It would have been a completely different game. I'm just
- 44:26Speaker 1: gonna tell you right now, it would have been a
- 44:28Speaker 1: completely different game, no doubt. I think you would have
- 44:31Speaker 1: dominated that game. No offense to your Indiana Hoosiers. But
- 44:34Speaker 1: yeah no, no offense to your Indiana Hoosiers. Now you
- 44:38Speaker 1: said my Indiana would have dominated that game? Oh I did, Yeah,
- 44:41Speaker 1: I'm sorry.
- 44:42Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, if you just switched quarterbacks, yeah, it goes
- 44:44Speaker 2: completely different directions.
- 44:46Speaker 1: My buddy here said, calling someone a douce and changing
- 44:48Speaker 1: your tone of voice when doing so, and then saying
- 44:51Speaker 1: you're done talking, isn't kidding around. Woll You're the one
- 44:55Speaker 1: that called yourself that first. That's true. Yeah, so I
- 44:58Speaker 1: didn't start it started. It has a scene I've always followed.
- 45:02Speaker 1: I just followed. I get what you're saying. But he
- 45:05Speaker 1: and I are kidding. Okay, So I consider Justin a
- 45:08Speaker 1: really good friend.
- 45:09Speaker 2: Even though you didn't remember my name the first time
- 45:11Speaker 2: we met.
- 45:12Speaker 1: That's cool. I don't remember meeting you. You're right, I
- 45:15Speaker 1: don't sue me. I am so sorry. Okai, well played,
- 45:23Speaker 1: my friend. Yeah, you know, it's funny. There's a lot
- 45:26Speaker 1: of people I don't remember meeting I just don't like
- 45:29Speaker 1: I I met somebody today that didn't and it wasn't
- 45:34Speaker 1: for the first time. I remembered meeting them, but they
- 45:37Speaker 1: didn't remember meeting me. And it's okay. They meet so
- 45:40Speaker 1: many people that they're bound to forget, So forgive me
- 45:44Speaker 1: for not remembering you. I am so sorry. I know
- 45:47Speaker 1: your name now, It's fine. I'm not that memorable. Yeah, well,
- 45:50Speaker 1: there was a long time my last co host, producer,
- 45:53Speaker 1: I'd call him by the wrong name. Months went by
- 45:57Speaker 1: and I'd still call him the wrong name. How do
- 45:59Speaker 1: you like that? I don't think you'd like that one,
- 46:01Speaker 1: but I'd be fine with it. Would you really not
- 46:03Speaker 1: called it? It's been called a lot of things in
- 46:05Speaker 1: my life. Just yeah, okay, well I'm not gonna call
- 46:09Speaker 1: you a lot of things, but uh, all right. When
- 46:11Speaker 1: we come back, we got to hour two coming up.
- 46:13Speaker 1: We got to talk about what's happening at u of L.
- 46:16Speaker 1: They finally came to an agreement and got it done.
- 46:20Speaker 2: There.
- 46:20Speaker 1: There's a little baseball news what is going on with
- 46:23Speaker 1: the Phillies And I loved this commercial. They are back
- 46:28Speaker 1: as far as I'm concerned. We're going to talk about
- 46:30Speaker 1: this network when we get back. I think, of course
- 46:33Speaker 1: there's some baseball news. So anyway, stay right there. What
- 46:36Speaker 1: house is for sale for way too much money? You'll
- 46:39Speaker 1: know that too. Stay right there. Our two of Just
- 46:42Speaker 1: the Cats coming right up. Welcome to Just the Cats
- 47:10Speaker 1: with Michael Bennette. Well, you know, doing this whole YouTube thing.
- 47:15Speaker 1: If you want to go check it out, you can
- 47:17Speaker 1: look it up on YouTube at Big Exports Radio Louisville.
- 47:20Speaker 1: Are people just listening? Are they really watching the video?
- 47:25Speaker 1: Probably a combination of both, you think so. So they
- 47:27Speaker 1: want to see what we look like, because that's I'm
- 47:30Speaker 1: always curious what radio personalities look like.
- 47:33Speaker 2: I mean, I I kind of understand it because I
- 47:36Speaker 2: so back in the day, I used to be really
- 47:38Speaker 2: big into the Dan Patrick Show.
- 47:40Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 47:40Speaker 2: I loved watching it, did you really? Because you got
- 47:42Speaker 2: to see their facial expressions. You got to see like
- 47:45Speaker 2: certain ways they act or mannerisms they had. I like
- 47:49Speaker 2: watching it, you do, okay, But I've also I'm also
- 47:52Speaker 2: partial of just listening on the radio as well. Yeah,
- 47:54Speaker 2: so I can do it either way. So I imagine
- 47:57Speaker 2: it's probably a nice.
- 47:58Speaker 1: Yeah, because I mostly listen from my phone now, I
- 48:02Speaker 1: don't really turn on my radio as much as I
- 48:04Speaker 1: used to. And if I want to listen to a
- 48:06Speaker 1: radio show or a Big X you know, I'm putting
- 48:08Speaker 1: in Big X Sports Radio dot Com and listening that way,
- 48:12Speaker 1: cause it's to me, it's very simple to do. I
- 48:14Speaker 1: know a lot of people have trouble for some reason
- 48:17Speaker 1: listening to our show through the internet. I've never understood why.
- 48:21Speaker 1: To me, it's very simple. But I know if you
- 48:24Speaker 1: need me to explain it to you, I'll be glad
- 48:25Speaker 1: to explain it to you. But how do you listen?
- 48:28Speaker 1: I just told you. I go, I get on my phone,
- 48:31Speaker 1: go to the internet. The Google button push that put
- 48:35Speaker 1: in Big X Sports Radio dot Com. So you go
- 48:37Speaker 1: to the Big X website. I do, gotcha opposed to?
- 48:40Speaker 1: And I go through the Jie app. I don't I
- 48:44Speaker 1: think that's troublesome. Why. I don't know. I think I
- 48:48Speaker 1: just need the easiest way to listen. It is. Well,
- 48:50Speaker 1: I think my way is easier, and that's the way
- 48:52Speaker 1: I do it, and that's why I'm going to continue.
- 48:53Speaker 1: Just stubborn, Michael. You know, part of me probably is
- 48:56Speaker 1: stubborn because I do it a certain way, and I
- 48:58Speaker 1: do it that way like like, for instance, I eat
- 49:02Speaker 1: pretty much the same thing every day for breakfast. I
- 49:06Speaker 1: have the same routine every single day. Yeah I do.
- 49:10Speaker 1: I get up. I get up usually around five point
- 49:13Speaker 1: forty five, get dressed, and then I go into the kitchen,
- 49:17Speaker 1: eat one of these power ball bars, and drink a
- 49:20Speaker 1: large glass of water, and I'm done. I do my
- 49:24Speaker 1: little more work, just make sure I'm prepared for today,
- 49:26Speaker 1: and then off I come. I leave. I leave every
- 49:29Speaker 1: day at the same time my house at US seven.
- 49:33Speaker 1: I get here and boom, I'm ready. My routine is
- 49:36Speaker 1: pretty much the same every single day.
- 49:38Speaker 2: The only day that my routine is the same as Fridays.
- 49:41Speaker 2: And I was telling you this off air, but every Friday,
- 49:45Speaker 2: I've gotten into a habit where I'll stop at the
- 49:47Speaker 2: gas station prior to my show and I'll get a
- 49:49Speaker 2: donut and a pint of white milk. Yeah, that's my
- 49:53Speaker 2: treat on Fridays. But I always wait until your show's over.
- 49:58Speaker 1: So why do you want to wait until my show's.
- 50:00Speaker 2: Overdeath that it's just principal. I've got to eat my
- 50:03Speaker 2: doughnut at ten o'clock. That's that's just what I do.
- 50:05Speaker 2: But that makes it really hard for me being in studio,
- 50:08Speaker 2: because then for three and a half hours, this donut
- 50:11Speaker 2: is just staring at me, and I'm staring at the
- 50:13Speaker 2: donut and knowing that I can't touch it until ten o'clock.
- 50:16Speaker 2: So Fridays have become honestly pretty difficult. That sounds like
- 50:20Speaker 2: torture to me. It is torture, okay, it's it's kind
- 50:23Speaker 2: of a way to torture myself. I'm not trying to
- 50:26Speaker 2: do that, but that's what it's become. See call texture.
- 50:29Speaker 2: I'm not the one being mean to Justin. Justin's being
- 50:31Speaker 2: mean to himself. You called yourself those names. I just
- 50:34Speaker 2: repeated him, and then you're being mean because you won't
- 50:37Speaker 2: feed yourself a donut. I am mean to myself redently.
- 50:40Speaker 2: I well, I'm hard on myself. I will say I
- 50:43Speaker 2: fuss at myself all the time. It's funny.
- 50:45Speaker 1: I'll be driving in the car my wife will say,
- 50:47Speaker 1: why are you shaking your head? I said, I'm fussing
- 50:50Speaker 1: at myself and I am. She's like, what are you
- 50:53Speaker 1: fussing about? It's like, I don't want to talk about it.
- 50:56Speaker 1: It's just between me and me. I do do that
- 51:00Speaker 1: a lot. I gotta stop that's not healthy. Jeff Brown
- 51:04Speaker 1: finalizes his contract with that eight year, sixty four million
- 51:07Speaker 1: dollar extension. What do you think about this contract? And
- 51:12Speaker 1: why did it take so long to finalize this? That
- 51:16Speaker 1: I don't know I would have imagined because it doesn't
- 51:19Speaker 1: seem like something that's wow, that's a great It seems
- 51:23Speaker 1: like a good contract. It does not really overwhelm me
- 51:26Speaker 1: with oh my gosh, Jeff Brom's got it going on.
- 51:30Speaker 1: I looked at this and thought, really, that's what took
- 51:33Speaker 1: so long.
- 51:33Speaker 2: That's the one thing I didn't really understand either. If
- 51:36Speaker 2: it had taken as long as it has to get
- 51:38Speaker 2: this deal together, I would have thought, I don't know,
- 51:41Speaker 2: maybe nine ten million a year. But you give him
- 51:44Speaker 2: sixty four for eight years to an alumni guy that's
- 51:49Speaker 2: had success other this dude had success at Purdue for
- 51:52Speaker 2: crying out loud.
- 51:54Speaker 1: Yeah, but he hasn't had the success he had at Purdue?
- 51:56Speaker 1: Is that fair to say? And to me, it's an
- 51:59Speaker 1: easier conference the acc of the power for it is
- 52:03Speaker 1: the least power.
- 52:05Speaker 2: But has he but has he always gotten everything he
- 52:09Speaker 2: needs to succeed at Louis? I can't answer that question.
- 52:11Speaker 2: I think you can make the argument that maybe he
- 52:13Speaker 2: hasn't and maybe it does feel like it's trending in
- 52:16Speaker 2: that direction. I don't know if you saw the news
- 52:18Speaker 2: where they're re getting getting back with Papa John and
- 52:22Speaker 2: they're gonna repair that relate relationship for nil purposes. So
- 52:26Speaker 2: maybe that's something that pushes Louisville over the edge and
- 52:29Speaker 2: gets them at the top of echelon of the ACC
- 52:32Speaker 2: and potentially winning.
- 52:33Speaker 1: What are your thoughts on that? Because I thought that
- 52:35Speaker 1: was some other big news I wanted to talk about today.
- 52:38Speaker 1: So there was a letter that went out from the
- 52:40Speaker 1: University of Louisville yesterday stating that, oh, big news we have.
- 52:46Speaker 1: It's like a divorce proceeding. Now they're they're reconciling. Okay,
- 52:51Speaker 1: the marriage is back on. We've been apart for three years.
- 52:54Speaker 1: We realized how much we miss each other. Yes, and
- 52:57Speaker 1: find love anywhere. I didn't understand a big announcement about this.
- 53:02Speaker 1: I thought that was kind of weird that we're going
- 53:04Speaker 1: to announce that we're reconciling with a former booster.
- 53:08Speaker 2: Do we take ellen In off the stadium and throw
- 53:11Speaker 2: Papa John's back up.
- 53:12Speaker 1: But he's not a part of Papa John's anymore. He's not. No,
- 53:16Speaker 1: he was fired from Papa kind.
- 53:18Speaker 2: Of always part of Papa John's though. I mean that's
- 53:20Speaker 2: only that's Papa John.
- 53:22Speaker 1: For crime he is. He is not associated with the
- 53:25Speaker 1: corporation whatsoever. Because a whole racial thing that I listen,
- 53:30Speaker 1: I'm convinced he was set up. And I don't know
- 53:35Speaker 1: John Schnadder. I don't know him. If he if he
- 53:38Speaker 1: walked past me, I might recognize him. He would recognize him.
- 53:41Speaker 1: He would not know who I am.
- 53:42Speaker 2: He would recognize him because he'd be sweating and smell
- 53:44Speaker 2: like pizza.
- 53:47Speaker 1: Is that what you think? Yeah? Okay, well good, that
- 53:50Speaker 1: might be appealing. Remember izza?
- 53:52Speaker 2: Didn't he eat thirty pizzas in like thirty days or
- 53:54Speaker 2: forty pizzas in forty days?
- 53:56Speaker 1: Are you serious? Didn't he? Wasn't that a thing anything
- 53:59Speaker 1: about that. Only thing I remember is that he went
- 54:02Speaker 1: back to find his childhood car and they found it,
- 54:05Speaker 1: and he paid a lot of money to the guy
- 54:07Speaker 1: that had his car. I think it was like a
- 54:09Speaker 1: transam or a firebird or something like that, And I thought,
- 54:12Speaker 1: that's pretty cool to go find. Wouldn't you like to
- 54:14Speaker 1: go try and find your very first car? I would
- 54:18Speaker 1: love nothing more I would I would love nothing. My
- 54:22Speaker 1: first car was freaking awesome. So was mine. I wish
- 54:25Speaker 1: I could find it. What was your first car? It
- 54:28Speaker 1: was a seventy nine in Paula. Oh my gosh, that
- 54:31Speaker 1: thing flew had bucket seats in the front on the back.
- 54:35Speaker 2: It was awesome. It got like twelve miles of the gallon,
- 54:37Speaker 2: so I don't miss that part. That was a baby
- 54:39Speaker 2: making machine, right there, good friend. Absolutely good for you.
- 54:43Speaker 2: So the girls just really flocked to you. I'm sure
- 54:46Speaker 2: we h there were some fun times had in that car. Okay,
- 54:49Speaker 2: that's all we need to say. But I thought that
- 54:52Speaker 2: was a cool event when they did that. I would
- 54:54Speaker 2: like to do the same thing. I doubt if I
- 54:57Speaker 2: ever will, But I mean, I know you never know
- 55:00Speaker 2: so that I don't know any other stints that they
- 55:03Speaker 2: did with him. But I just I looked at this
- 55:05Speaker 2: and like, why is this big news?
- 55:08Speaker 1: I you know, he's he's a he is a billionaire, right,
- 55:13Speaker 1: but he's not the only one in Louisville. I don't
- 55:15Speaker 1: know how many billionaires there are in Louisville or Kentucky.
- 55:19Speaker 1: There's a few. But I just didn't understand. Is this
- 55:22Speaker 1: something Schnodter wanted to have announced or is this something
- 55:26Speaker 1: U of L wanted to announced?
- 55:27Speaker 2: Question is where's he getting all his money now? If
- 55:29Speaker 2: he's not no longer with Papa John's, where's where's that
- 55:32Speaker 2: money coming from?
- 55:33Speaker 1: Well, it's coming from all the money he saved and
- 55:36Speaker 1: from making it working for the pizza place, and now
- 55:41Speaker 1: he's just gonna give it all away. He probably has
- 55:44Speaker 1: enough to get away. He needs a text right off
- 55:45Speaker 1: every year. That's true. But uh, I just I looked
- 55:48Speaker 1: at that and I thought that's kind of a weird situation.
- 55:50Speaker 1: All right. The one thing I did like the past week,
- 55:55Speaker 1: you know, they they ESPN has really been promoting that
- 56:00Speaker 1: they were doing the NFL Draft. I loved the commercial
- 56:05Speaker 1: they did for the NFL Draft. You know, they had
- 56:08Speaker 1: all the people, a few of the personalities come into
- 56:12Speaker 1: this one boardroom and Roger Goodell comes in and acts
- 56:16Speaker 1: like he's making the first pick, and then Mike Greenberg
- 56:20Speaker 1: sits there at the table and boos him when he
- 56:22Speaker 1: walks in. I thought that was funny. And Roger Gill
- 56:26Speaker 1: because my first pick is ESPN.
- 56:29Speaker 2: I oh, okay, have you not seen that he has
- 56:32Speaker 2: to host Super Bowl?
- 56:33Speaker 1: Correct? Yeah? Correct, Yeah it was.
- 56:36Speaker 2: It was okay, really, I didn't it didn't do that
- 56:39Speaker 2: much for me.
- 56:40Speaker 1: I thought it was funny. It did a lot for
- 56:42Speaker 1: me because there are a lot of people out there, Yeah,
- 56:44Speaker 1: this is not funny. I thought it had mixed reviews.
- 56:47Speaker 1: But me personally, I thought ESPN is back, because you know,
- 56:52Speaker 1: you you remember those all those iconic ads that they
- 56:57Speaker 1: used to do, like Bono's. Oh that wasn't one of theirs.
- 57:02Speaker 1: I think though. The one funny one was the the
- 57:05Speaker 1: outdoors guy that was from Australia and and uh, the
- 57:10Speaker 1: the mascot from University Florida. The gator comes off the
- 57:13Speaker 1: elevator and that guy wrestles him to the ground. I
- 57:18Speaker 1: thought that was funny. I don't remember that guy's name,
- 57:21Speaker 1: do you. He passed away, unfortunately, but from a fish.
- 57:25Speaker 1: I think he got poisoned from a fish bite or
- 57:27Speaker 1: something like that. Yeah, was it? Wait you're talking? Uh,
- 57:32Speaker 1: oh my gosh, what is his name? Yes, crocodile hunters.
- 57:35Speaker 1: Who I'm talking, sir Steve? He got killed from a stingray?
- 57:40Speaker 1: Was it a sting ray? Okay, that's a fish. Yeah,
- 57:42Speaker 1: So I thought that was a great one. I'm trying
- 57:45Speaker 1: to think of some of the other iconic commercials that
- 57:48Speaker 1: they did ESPN. Yes, I mean we could, we could
- 57:52Speaker 1: do the rest of the show. I thought, Eli Manning
- 57:54Speaker 1: or the Manning family getting a tour of ESPN and
- 57:58Speaker 1: Eli and Peyton in the background kicking each other one
- 58:01Speaker 1: giving me a wet willie.
- 58:02Speaker 2: My personal favorite ones probably the Albert Pooholtz one when
- 58:06Speaker 2: they're like He's a machine and he's like, I'm I'm
- 58:09Speaker 2: not a machine, I'm just Albert.
- 58:11Speaker 1: That was always a good one. Yeah. Yeah, They've had
- 58:14Speaker 1: some great ones over the years. Yeah, yeah, I enjoyed that.
- 58:18Speaker 2: So, by the way, speaking of the draft, so I
- 58:20Speaker 2: reached out to Nick Roush during that last break because
- 58:23Speaker 2: I was curious, is there anybody from this pass Kentucky
- 58:25Speaker 2: team that is potentially gonna get drafted? So he said,
- 58:28Speaker 2: watch out for Jalen Farmer, maybe tonight he will get
- 58:32Speaker 2: drafted in round two or three, and then Jagger Burton,
- 58:35Speaker 2: Kendrick Law and Seth McGowan.
- 58:36Speaker 1: Is that's right, Yes, this few of the linemen, they.
- 58:38Speaker 2: Will probably all get drafted tomorrow. And he said maybe
- 58:41Speaker 2: David Gusta and Josh Brawn will get drafted as well.
- 58:45Speaker 1: It's not like last year we had some really big
- 58:47Speaker 1: names being called in.
- 58:48Speaker 2: The first I didn't even like you and I were
- 58:50Speaker 2: talking about it during break and I couldn't even think
- 58:52Speaker 2: of anybody I could should remembered. At least Jagger Bagger
- 58:56Speaker 2: Burton for sure. Yeah, because you know, well SETH McGowan
- 58:59Speaker 2: was awesome. He should get Oh.
- 59:00Speaker 1: Definitely, between the two of them, they'll definitely get drafted
- 59:04Speaker 1: next couple of days. I don't remember Jalen Farmer, I don't.
- 59:07Speaker 1: I don't even know who that is. But anyway, let's
- 59:10Speaker 1: talk a little bit about ukball and coach Craig Skinner.
- 59:14Speaker 1: They're gonna play u NC the University of North Carolina
- 59:18Speaker 1: next season as a part of the sec ACC Challenge.
- 59:21Speaker 2: A bad night to be a tar heel, really.
- 59:24Speaker 1: Because they're gonna win. You got that much confidence in
- 59:26Speaker 1: Kentucky Volleyball No. Two. Yeah, me too. So the game's
- 59:29Speaker 1: gonna be at Historic Memorial Coliseum, televised on one of
- 59:33Speaker 1: the ESPN networks, and they don't know which yet, but
- 59:36Speaker 1: I'm sure we'll we'll know that a few weeks before
- 59:38Speaker 1: they have the game. But September ninth is going to
- 59:41Speaker 1: be it. Uh, and I didn't realize this. It's been
- 59:44Speaker 1: a while since UK's played the Tar Heels in volleyball,
- 59:47Speaker 1: but UK holds a winning record against him eleven and five.
- 59:52Speaker 1: So that'll you know. They released the schedule for volleyball yesterday.
- 59:59Speaker 1: It is ap solutely brutal guarantee. Yeah, because you know
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: you got that game up at Wrigley Field, that they're
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: playing another brutal game. I think, to me, that's gonna
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: be one of the more iconic volleyball days in history
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: right there, playing at Wrigley Field. What happens if it rains?
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: Do they delay the game to another day? I think
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: you just kind of cross your fingers and hope it doesn't.
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: How's the setup gonna be? I mean, are they gonna
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: have seats outside the stand so in the field, because
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: you know they've had concerts there. Tom Petty's played there.
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: I think the Rolling Stones, Jimmy Buffett's played there at
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: Wrigley Field. I just think this is a great idea,
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: and I hope they make this an annual situation. Yeah,
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: and it's gonna be. I agree, it is to the
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: point I want to go to this game. I want
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: to travel to Chicago and see UK play volleyball in
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: Wrigley Field. You're on your own there. Chicago sucks. I
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: don't disagree with that. Chicago is not one of my
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: favorite cities, but I would go. I think Wrigley Field
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: is one of the more iconic baseball stadium for venues,
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: no doubt. It's between that and fin Way Park. Why
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: don't you like Chicago? I mean, I've never been a
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: big city guy. Not necessarily. Chicago's just because it's a big.
- 1:01:25Speaker 2: Yeah, that's just too big. There's just way too many people,
- 1:01:27Speaker 2: too much land mass. I'm just it's too big.
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: See. I know it's a big city, but it doesn't
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: feel like that gigantic like you go to New York.
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: That's a big city. You go to Los Angeles, that's
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: a big city. I don't feel like Chicago has that.
- 1:01:42Speaker 1: I know it's a big city, but it doesn't have
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: that really big city feel where you're just like, oh
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: my gosh, you got to get out of here. Yeah.
- 1:01:48Speaker 2: Now, I have other reasons why I don't care much
- 1:01:51Speaker 2: for Chicago, but I'll keep those to myself. Oh really, now,
- 1:01:55Speaker 2: I'm really cuteous. I'll tell you during the break. But
- 1:01:58Speaker 2: you mentioned confidence in UK volleyball. So I'm curious, is
- 1:02:04Speaker 2: that the program out of all the sports programs at
- 1:02:07Speaker 2: UK that you are the most confident in volleyball?
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: Man, that's a great question. Probably between that and women's basketball, Okay,
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: I think and maybe Craig Skinner and the volleyball team
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: I have the most confidence. Yeah, probably, So we don't
- 1:02:25Speaker 1: have to mention rifle because we just know they're gonna
- 1:02:27Speaker 1: win well between rifle and stunt because you know, they're
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: always winning. Cheerleading are always winning something. But yeah, rifle
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: is by far. They win almost every year. I mean,
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: they just that's an iconic program when it comes to anybody, Rifle,
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: but yeah, I would probably say volleyball, Yeah, it's definitely.
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: And then Kenny Brooks, what he's got going on. I
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: like what he's got going on. I'm excited about next season,
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: the players he's keeping, the players he's bringing in. Yeah,
- 1:02:55Speaker 1: it is gonna be awesome. So we'll have to figure
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: time to have both of them on sometime in the
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: near future. Yeah, so I don't have to hear from
- 1:03:04Speaker 1: Craig Skinner. It's about Yeah, it's been a while, Michael,
- 1:03:06Speaker 1: About time you have me on, Michael, right, been Michael, you'll.
- 1:03:09Speaker 2: You'll run across him in a restaurant in Florida at
- 1:03:11Speaker 2: some point.
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: Wouln't that crazy? I mean, that was crazy that I
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: ran into him. I just I did not expect that.
- 1:03:19Speaker 1: But uh, all right, uh you speaking of sticking to
- 1:03:22Speaker 1: a little bit of UK. UK baseball is playing this weekend.
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: They're headed to South Carolina for a three game series.
- 1:03:31Speaker 1: You talk about something, you know. You just asked me
- 1:03:33Speaker 1: a question. Who I have confidence in, Man, I I
- 1:03:37Speaker 1: will say baseball I've lost confidence in and I'm really
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: disappointed about that. So as far as him going down there,
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: I hope they win one game. I've lost a lot
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: of confidence in this team. Well, if you're disappointed about that.
- 1:03:54Speaker 2: If you're able to win two, and I mentioned this
- 1:03:56Speaker 2: on my show, if you're able to win too, that
- 1:03:57Speaker 2: gets you back to five hundred and sec pla. Yeah,
- 1:04:00Speaker 2: all you gotta do is go five hundred in a
- 1:04:03Speaker 2: conference and you're firmly in the NCAA tournament and gotta
- 1:04:07Speaker 2: have a chance in the postseason.
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: Well, they got Tennessee in Lexington the following weekend. I'm
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: just going by memory right now. They gotta go head
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: down to Gainesville to play Florida, and I think they
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: finish up at Arkansas. So yeah, it's gonna be tough.
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: What were we gonna say? I said, not easy. No,
- 1:04:28Speaker 1: it's never easy. So somehow, some way, they've got to
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: at least win one game on the away ones, and
- 1:04:34Speaker 1: then you gotta win some of these at home. You can't.
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: Just they haven't won a home series in the SEC,
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: I think at all this year. They've lost every series
- 1:04:47Speaker 1: I think so at home. Maybe they won one, but
- 1:04:50Speaker 1: I don't remember which one it was. It's just it's
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: not been a great season, which has just been an
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: absolute disappointment. All Right, we gotta take another break. You
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: want to call in five O two three four or
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: fourteen fifty text Lin's a little slow today, babo two
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: four one four fourteen fifteen if you want to text
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: in on the Whiskey Teep text line, or you can
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: tweet me at Just the Cat Radio. Stay right there.
- 1:05:09Speaker 1: We got a lot more Just the Cats join us.
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: Chad shake statue at the worst.
- 1:05:57Speaker 2: I love love that drug.
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: You know you always do a great job with music.
- 1:06:14Speaker 1: I'll have to say, and I don't mean that. You
- 1:06:17Speaker 1: don't mean that. No, let me finish. I don't mean
- 1:06:19Speaker 1: it as you know, just all passing by. You do
- 1:06:21Speaker 1: a great job. You know, people say stuff they don't
- 1:06:24Speaker 1: really mean. Sincerely. I'm being a sincere But the last
- 1:06:27Speaker 1: two days you've played a lot of songs. I really like,
- 1:06:29Speaker 1: I've been killing it and I love Cage the Elephant.
- 1:06:33Speaker 1: That's a great song right there. I've always wanted to
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: see them, you know what? What? What was it? A
- 1:06:37Speaker 1: couple of weeks ago there was a concert at you know,
- 1:06:41Speaker 1: the U of L's Football Stadium and they had Riley
- 1:06:46Speaker 1: somebody at Riley Green I've never heard of him and
- 1:06:50Speaker 1: Kings of Leon. Yeah, weird, weird, That's exactly what I thought,
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: because I'd love to see Kings of Leon but with
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: a country act. That guy as a country act. Yeah,
- 1:07:01Speaker 1: that's what I thought. Why the combination there? That was
- 1:07:04Speaker 1: a weird compo. That's well. I thought the same thing
- 1:07:08Speaker 1: because I.
- 1:07:08Speaker 2: Had some buddies that were there. Oh really, and neither
- 1:07:11Speaker 2: of them really liked country music. Yes, and I'm like
- 1:07:13Speaker 2: what the HELLY like, why are you all even at
- 1:07:15Speaker 2: that show? And then I later learned the Kings of
- 1:07:18Speaker 2: Leon was also there, and I was like, okay, so
- 1:07:20Speaker 2: that's why they went.
- 1:07:20Speaker 1: Yeah. So one of the Texters corrected me, UK is
- 1:07:24Speaker 1: playing Arkansas in Lexington, and they're right, and I apologize. So,
- 1:07:29Speaker 1: but UK has won baseball, has won one series. They
- 1:07:34Speaker 1: swept Alabama, remember they were Alabama was like, uh, it
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: was the very first season. Alabama was supposed to be
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: one of the best teams in the country and they
- 1:07:44Speaker 1: ended up being not great at all, and UK swept them,
- 1:07:47Speaker 1: and he thought, oh, this is gonna be a fun season.
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: And then UK has and I confirmed it. UK has
- 1:07:52Speaker 1: proceeded to lose every single series since and that just
- 1:07:57Speaker 1: that just sucks. Let's go to the whiskey tis one five, two, four, one,
- 1:08:01Speaker 1: fourteen fifty. Soon as I say it, we get a
- 1:08:03Speaker 1: bunch of texts, and I really appreciate that everybody. Let
- 1:08:08Speaker 1: me get to make sure I got the right one.
- 1:08:10Speaker 1: So all I need to do to get on the
- 1:08:12Speaker 1: backside is tell them I know battleship been it from
- 1:08:15Speaker 1: Battleship stables. No, don't do that. They will they'll look
- 1:08:20Speaker 1: at you and think you're nuts and probably get somebody
- 1:08:21Speaker 1: to escort you out of there to the middle hospital.
- 1:08:23Speaker 1: So no, no, that will, that will not work. But
- 1:08:27Speaker 1: you know, here's what I've always thought of when I
- 1:08:30Speaker 1: when when one of my horses is racing, I've always
- 1:08:33Speaker 1: said that if I see a young person there with
- 1:08:36Speaker 1: his mom and dad, I'm going to grab that family
- 1:08:39Speaker 1: and have them walk back there with me, just to
- 1:08:42Speaker 1: because I think it's important to have people experience what
- 1:08:46Speaker 1: I experience, so that you have generations fall in love
- 1:08:49Speaker 1: with the sport even more. Yeah, I I you know,
- 1:08:52Speaker 1: I had a partner last year and thank goodness, you
- 1:08:54Speaker 1: know we're not partners anymore. He's like, no, we can't
- 1:08:57Speaker 1: do that. He's like, why not? I thought that was
- 1:09:01Speaker 1: the dumbest thing. I want to promote the sport of
- 1:09:04Speaker 1: horse racing, just like I've always thought. Now I have
- 1:09:08Speaker 1: not gone to UK, but I've always thought it would
- 1:09:12Speaker 1: be fun to say, you know what, if there's a
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: young person out there that wants to get into sports media,
- 1:09:20Speaker 1: I would like to take them to one or two
- 1:09:22Speaker 1: games with me. Yeah, like a job shadowing exactly, so
- 1:09:26Speaker 1: they can experience it. But I'm worried that UK is
- 1:09:29Speaker 1: going to say, Michael, we don't have time for that.
- 1:09:31Speaker 1: That's what concerns me because I think UK would probably
- 1:09:34Speaker 1: say no, and I think that's ridiculous. How are we
- 1:09:37Speaker 1: going to grow our industry unless you kind of mentor
- 1:09:43Speaker 1: some people out there. So I'm gonna do that this year.
- 1:09:46Speaker 1: When it comes to horse racing, I think I will
- 1:09:49Speaker 1: ask for football, ask and see, okay, uk, I would
- 1:09:53Speaker 1: like to bring one young person, probably more like a teenager,
- 1:10:00Speaker 1: that's getting ready to choose where they're going to go down.
- 1:10:03Speaker 2: A young kid wouldn't have any idea if they want
- 1:10:05Speaker 2: to get in that or.
- 1:10:05Speaker 1: Not exactly, So somebody in high school and say, okay,
- 1:10:09Speaker 1: whomever wants to do it, contact me and and and
- 1:10:13Speaker 1: I'll pick a person every single week. But I'm gonna
- 1:10:16Speaker 1: do it for horse racing. When I see a young
- 1:10:18Speaker 1: person out there at Churchill Downs with their mom or dad,
- 1:10:21Speaker 1: I'm gonna say, come on, guys, you're with me, you're
- 1:10:23Speaker 1: my guess for this race.
- 1:10:25Speaker 2: It's a great idea. But here's the deal with horse
- 1:10:27Speaker 2: racing and the younger generation. What is there's always gonna
- 1:10:31Speaker 2: be kids that grew up like you, or grew up
- 1:10:34Speaker 2: like Nick Rousch, the guys that have been around horse
- 1:10:37Speaker 2: racing your entire life. Yes, that's just so there's I
- 1:10:41Speaker 2: feel like, yeah, you could increase the number of kids
- 1:10:45Speaker 2: that are being surrounded by horse racing to try to
- 1:10:47Speaker 2: build up that following. But yeah, I just I still
- 1:10:51Speaker 2: think there's gonna always be those kids that are that
- 1:10:53Speaker 2: are loving it and want to pursue this stuff, and.
- 1:10:56Speaker 1: Well, you never know they're gonna change your mind. Like,
- 1:10:57Speaker 1: for instance, the Derby Museum always has a tour. They
- 1:11:02Speaker 1: have a special golf cart that they ride and you
- 1:11:04Speaker 1: know where they are. Well, they stopped last week while
- 1:11:08Speaker 1: I was you know, they had one of my horses
- 1:11:11Speaker 1: out and I said, kim here. They came over and
- 1:11:15Speaker 1: I let all of them pet the horse and ask
- 1:11:18Speaker 1: me any question. Asked the grooms in that any question
- 1:11:21Speaker 1: they want. Dale Romans came out, they got to meet
- 1:11:24Speaker 1: Dale Romans. I think it's cool to promote the sport
- 1:11:29Speaker 1: and I'm happy to do that. I don't know why
- 1:11:31Speaker 1: more people don't want to do that, but anyway, that's
- 1:11:34Speaker 1: I'm just a little different. By one Texas said, U
- 1:11:37Speaker 1: of L had to wait for Papa John's money to
- 1:11:39Speaker 1: pay brom good point. That's the case. You have a
- 1:11:43Speaker 1: really good point. I mean, what are the odds that
- 1:11:46Speaker 1: both of these things are announced on the same day.
- 1:11:48Speaker 1: There is quite a coincidence. There isn't there. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:11:53Speaker 1: I'm not certain of that, and I do have a
- 1:11:55Speaker 1: little inside knowledge as far as that goes. I'm not
- 1:11:59Speaker 1: sure that it is a great point that most likely
- 1:12:02Speaker 1: is more of a coincidence than anything else. I think
- 1:12:06Speaker 1: it's more for another sport than it is that sport,
- 1:12:09Speaker 1: especially as much money as that sport. Listen, uh. I
- 1:12:13Speaker 1: read a text yesterday U of L is hosting a
- 1:12:16Speaker 1: five star seven foot center. It's like, holy cow, man,
- 1:12:21Speaker 1: Kelsey's got it going on. I misread it at first.
- 1:12:24Speaker 1: I thought it said five foot center, five foot seven
- 1:12:27Speaker 1: center and it had a picture of bet Kelsey. I
- 1:12:29Speaker 1: thought it was a joke. I thought it was a
- 1:12:30Speaker 1: AI thing. And then I say, no, it's a five star.
- 1:12:34Speaker 1: And then they had well you normally they put the
- 1:12:36Speaker 1: picture of the player, not the picture of the coat. Correct.
- 1:12:39Speaker 1: I thought that was so I started dying laughing. And
- 1:12:42Speaker 1: then I'm like, oh, no, it doesn't say that. But anyway,
- 1:12:45Speaker 1: he is killing though for what it's worth, Yeah it is.
- 1:12:47Speaker 1: Let's just see how he does when they actually have
- 1:12:49Speaker 1: it going. Just further proof that you can do whatever
- 1:12:53Speaker 1: you want if you have enough money. I think it's
- 1:12:56Speaker 1: bad look on U of L personally? Why why is
- 1:13:01Speaker 1: it a bad.
- 1:13:01Speaker 2: Look because of all the things that he said or did?
- 1:13:06Speaker 2: Who I'm assuming he's talking about Papa John oh oh,
- 1:13:11Speaker 2: bringing John Schnader back. Yeah, well, I mean.
- 1:13:16Speaker 1: I don't necessarily think it's a bad look because I listen,
- 1:13:20Speaker 1: I'm not a I don't know Schneider. As I mentioned before,
- 1:13:23Speaker 1: I don't know anything about him except for things I've heard,
- 1:13:29Speaker 1: which always can be wrong. I've always been into the
- 1:13:33Speaker 1: contention that he was set up. I have no facts
- 1:13:36Speaker 1: to base on, and I have no facts to base
- 1:13:38Speaker 1: what he said he really meant. But I just always thought, listen,
- 1:13:42Speaker 1: the bad look to me is when they brought Jerik
- 1:13:45Speaker 1: back and they named a street after him. I thought
- 1:13:48Speaker 1: that was the bad look. I mean, really, you fired
- 1:13:52Speaker 1: the athletic director, he leaves Louisville in shame, Rick Patino
- 1:13:58Speaker 1: leaves in shame, and you're now bringing him back. All
- 1:14:02Speaker 1: is forgiven. We want to name a street after you.
- 1:14:05Speaker 1: I thought that was a bad look, much worse than
- 1:14:07Speaker 1: bringing Schnader back. One person texted basketball recruiting has been quiet,
- 1:14:12Speaker 1: no commits. I have a weird feeling something big is coming.
- 1:14:15Speaker 1: Not sure why just a feeling. I hope you're right. Well,
- 1:14:19Speaker 1: I do too, and it's it's been a little eerie,
- 1:14:23Speaker 1: how quiet it's been. I thank goodness we're not reporting
- 1:14:28Speaker 1: that we schedule a zoom call. Okay, I'm glad about that.
- 1:14:32Speaker 1: I'm done teasing that poor guy. So stop shaking your head.
- 1:14:36Speaker 1: But I listen. I don't think that's JD. Shelburne texting
- 1:14:42Speaker 1: me that text right there. But I talked to JD
- 1:14:44Speaker 1: yesterday and he's like, Michael, he's coming, you trust me.
- 1:14:49Speaker 1: Tyrone Stokes is coming to Kentucky. And of course I'm
- 1:14:52Speaker 1: just shaking my head. I really don't think he is.
- 1:14:55Speaker 1: If you want me to be completely honest right now,
- 1:14:59Speaker 1: there is no and God's green Earth that Tyrone Stokes
- 1:15:03Speaker 1: is committing Kentucky. I hope I'm wrong, but I just
- 1:15:07Speaker 1: don't see it happening. I just don't know how you
- 1:15:08Speaker 1: can say it so confidently I can? Why? Why why
- 1:15:13Speaker 1: can't I say it confidently?
- 1:15:14Speaker 2: That's what I don't understand. How you're able to well,
- 1:15:17Speaker 2: I mean you obviously can. You just did okay, uh
- 1:15:21Speaker 2: uh what my texters back? All right, mister Wisconsin. Now
- 1:15:25Speaker 2: you don't agree with a friend who is backtracking and
- 1:15:28Speaker 2: being nice when they notice your you are offended by
- 1:15:31Speaker 2: agreeing that they are a douche.
- 1:15:34Speaker 1: It is. It was awkward. I'm sorry. It wasn't meant
- 1:15:38Speaker 1: to be. Please take my apology. Okay, I didn't think
- 1:15:40Speaker 1: it was awkward at all. I just please, I'm going
- 1:15:43Speaker 1: to apologize to mister Wisconsin. Okay, tell me and Michael Lark. Yeah,
- 1:15:46Speaker 1: it's fine, I am apologizing to you. Please, let's move on.
- 1:15:50Speaker 1: One person said, I saw the two Fish shows at
- 1:15:52Speaker 1: Wrigley in twenty sixteen on a on the field. Pretty sick.
- 1:15:58Speaker 1: I think he means it was sick in a positive way. Yeah,
- 1:16:01Speaker 1: that's what the kids are saying. Yeah, oh oh, is
- 1:16:04Speaker 1: he a gen xer here?
- 1:16:05Speaker 2: We missed, We miss our gen x.
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: You know I do too. I mean, I wish there
- 1:16:10Speaker 1: was a way we could have Matthew come back for
- 1:16:12Speaker 1: a little bit, just once a week or something. Surely
- 1:16:14Speaker 1: we could get him on for like, all right, just
- 1:16:17Speaker 1: a new job. Let's have you ask, okay, see if
- 1:16:20Speaker 1: he'll come on for five or ten minutes. Because I meant, listen,
- 1:16:24Speaker 1: you're talking to a guy right here that really misses Matthew.
- 1:16:26Speaker 1: If you left the show justin i'd be devastated.
- 1:16:30Speaker 2: Well, and I just I don't know, I feel so
- 1:16:32Speaker 2: much more hips since we started that segment.
- 1:16:34Speaker 1: I loved it. I can use those phrases exactly. Public nephews,
- 1:16:38Speaker 1: Your nephew and nieces were going nuts over what you
- 1:16:40Speaker 1: were saying to them. I listen. Yeah, that's pretty sick. Fish.
- 1:16:44Speaker 1: Is there a song by Fish that you like? I
- 1:16:46Speaker 1: don't know a single Fish song. I think there's one
- 1:16:49Speaker 1: country road or country something. There is a country city
- 1:16:54Speaker 1: or something like that that Fish things. That's fantastic. If
- 1:16:56Speaker 1: they're like Fish.
- 1:16:58Speaker 2: There's not a whole lot of bands I know less
- 1:17:00Speaker 2: about than Fish.
- 1:17:01Speaker 1: Really. Yeah, you know, they're kind of like the Almond Brothers.
- 1:17:04Speaker 1: There are are. They're kind of a jam band. Okay,
- 1:17:09Speaker 1: because I'll never forget seeing the Almond Brothers. One time
- 1:17:12Speaker 1: I went to get to they started a song. I
- 1:17:14Speaker 1: went to concession, get something to eat, got a piece
- 1:17:17Speaker 1: of pizza in the drink, sat down, ate it, took
- 1:17:21Speaker 1: my went to the restroom, went back to my seat.
- 1:17:23Speaker 1: They were still playing the same song. That's Fish. They
- 1:17:26Speaker 1: just play songs forever. Here's the best Almond brother Greg. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:17:32Speaker 1: without a doubt. Uh forty eight handlely said, Chicago is
- 1:17:36Speaker 1: my kind of town. Sinatra Yankee Stadium hosted some huge
- 1:17:40Speaker 1: championship fights back in the day when boxing was in
- 1:17:44Speaker 1: Uh it's heyday. Boxing's really gone as in it. Yeah,
- 1:17:48Speaker 1: it's no longer that big anymore.
- 1:17:51Speaker 2: I mean, you you have big fights every now and then.
- 1:17:54Speaker 1: You had that one with Mike Tyson and that white
- 1:17:57Speaker 1: dude Camp.
- 1:17:57Speaker 2: But that wasn't really big. It was that was a
- 1:18:00Speaker 2: yoak of a fight. I agree Tyson Fury. If he
- 1:18:03Speaker 2: fights Anthony Joshua coming up, that'll be huge. But still,
- 1:18:07Speaker 2: let's both those guys are past their prime.
- 1:18:10Speaker 1: I've been disappointing with boxing lately. Yeah, I and I
- 1:18:13Speaker 1: enjoy it. I mean, I know it's a brutal sport,
- 1:18:15Speaker 1: but I enjoy it. One person texted in Arkansas is
- 1:18:19Speaker 1: at home, thank you. I appreciate that correction. I refer
- 1:18:21Speaker 1: to you just a little bit ago. And then Kentucky
- 1:18:24Speaker 1: baseball has zero pitching. Seems like that's the that's the
- 1:18:27Speaker 1: reason they're losing out fourteen to Louisville. Yeah, who hasn't
- 1:18:33Speaker 1: been hitting the Paul Well, you don't know the midweek games.
- 1:18:36Speaker 1: You don't necessarily pick pitch your aces, you say them
- 1:18:39Speaker 1: for the weekend, but uh, it's it's been even more so.
- 1:18:43Speaker 1: It's been the relief pitchers that are just brutal. And
- 1:18:47Speaker 1: that's I think we talked about last couple of days
- 1:18:49Speaker 1: where uh, Nick mineone needs to really take a hard
- 1:18:53Speaker 1: look at the pitching coach at UK because something's amiss here,
- 1:18:58Speaker 1: Something is gonna ry. Pitching has been horrendous and if
- 1:19:02Speaker 1: K had better pay. It's not fielding well, although they
- 1:19:05Speaker 1: didn't look good against u of L. But the fourteen
- 1:19:07Speaker 1: walks in three innings, I mean, come on, man, that
- 1:19:10Speaker 1: should tell you something's up. So and something has been
- 1:19:15Speaker 1: really just uh. But when we come back, I want
- 1:19:18Speaker 1: to talk about the Phillies speaking of baseball. Uh, And
- 1:19:21Speaker 1: there is a house for sale, iconic house. We will
- 1:19:27Speaker 1: talk about that as soon as we get back. Man,
- 1:19:30Speaker 1: you won't believe how much they want for it too.
- 1:19:31Speaker 1: Would you pay this kind of money for it? Stay
- 1:19:33Speaker 1: right there? One more second. This week of just the
- 1:19:36Speaker 1: Cats coming right up, you were playing Gary Clark Junior.
- 1:20:07Speaker 1: Holy cow, I didn't even know you knew who Gary
- 1:20:11Speaker 1: Clark Junior was. I know who Gary Clark. Wow, I
- 1:20:15Speaker 1: am really impressed by this.
- 1:20:17Speaker 2: I'm impressed that you knew it was him just based
- 1:20:19Speaker 2: off that opening roof.
- 1:20:20Speaker 1: Because I know that I love Gary Clark Jr. That's
- 1:20:25Speaker 1: impressive right there. Okay, we didn't get to hear the
- 1:20:29Speaker 1: guy singing. I mean, that's what's so bad. And the
- 1:20:31Speaker 1: YouTubers are there, like Michael, we don't hear any music, man,
- 1:20:34Speaker 1: will you shut up? They got to hear a little
- 1:20:35Speaker 1: bit of Oh they did, Okay, all right, Well they
- 1:20:37Speaker 1: get to hear it as it's going. Now I'm bummed
- 1:20:39Speaker 1: we don't get to hear more of the song. You
- 1:20:41Speaker 1: can do it at the end of the show. Okay, Well,
- 1:20:43Speaker 1: but yeah, I want to hear Gary getting into it.
- 1:20:45Speaker 1: I mean, that is a guy that I would love
- 1:20:48Speaker 1: to see in concert without doubt. Now. I love it
- 1:20:50Speaker 1: when he brings that. This is one of those things
- 1:20:52Speaker 1: that seems like it's getting more and more popular. We've
- 1:20:54Speaker 1: talked about this before, where artists will bring up people
- 1:20:58Speaker 1: from the audi play like the Goo Goo Dolls did
- 1:21:02Speaker 1: at one time, and the guy kept asking, you really
- 1:21:05Speaker 1: can't play Foo Fighters have done it. Gary Clark has
- 1:21:08Speaker 1: done it, and I just think that's the There is
- 1:21:11Speaker 1: no way I could get up in front of a crowd,
- 1:21:14Speaker 1: play an instrument or sing in front of a bunch
- 1:21:16Speaker 1: of people. I would be so unbelievably nervous i'd screw up.
- 1:21:21Speaker 1: There was a guy that did it famously with Sammy
- 1:21:25Speaker 1: Hagar and his band and the bass player Michael Anthony. Okay,
- 1:21:31Speaker 1: played for Van Halen. I know I'm weird. Sorry about that,
- 1:21:34Speaker 1: all right, I do want to talk about this. There
- 1:21:36Speaker 1: is a house for sale down in South Florida and
- 1:21:42Speaker 1: Key Biscayne, Florida, which is a very ritzy part of Miami, Florida. Okay, okay,
- 1:21:48Speaker 1: it is the original house used in Scarface. Oh tell
- 1:21:55Speaker 1: me you saw the movie Scarface with al Pacino. I
- 1:21:59Speaker 1: have not seen scar My Got Kid.
- 1:22:01Speaker 2: I know the phrase say hello to my little Fay exactly.
- 1:22:05Speaker 1: Many men have said that on their honeymoon nights. I
- 1:22:08Speaker 1: can't tell you how much, but I think that is
- 1:22:11Speaker 1: one of the funniest lines ever. Iconic lines. There are
- 1:22:15Speaker 1: a lot of lines from there from Scarface. You've got
- 1:22:19Speaker 1: to go watch that one day. Are you ready for
- 1:22:21Speaker 1: how much the house is selling for? Let me guess
- 1:22:26Speaker 1: I'm ready.
- 1:22:28Speaker 2: I'm gonna go twenty two million, five hundred thousand. Yeah,
- 1:22:32Speaker 2: you want to try one more time, sixty seven million.
- 1:22:35Speaker 2: I'll give you one more chance. One hundred and two million,
- 1:22:38Speaker 2: two hundred and thirty seven million dollars for this house.
- 1:22:43Speaker 2: Good God, that's exactly what I have money. Uh well,
- 1:22:47Speaker 2: there are a few people out there that have that money.
- 1:22:49Speaker 2: But you gotta believe that when that person goes and
- 1:22:51Speaker 2: buys that house, uh, they are yeah, they're they're probably
- 1:22:56Speaker 2: paying cash for it.
- 1:22:58Speaker 1: That's insane. Isn't that crazy? Two hundred and thirty seven
- 1:23:03Speaker 1: million dollars for the house that was used in Scarface?
- 1:23:07Speaker 1: I just there's all kinds of pictures if you go
- 1:23:10Speaker 1: to the New York Post dot com, they have all
- 1:23:13Speaker 1: kinds of pictures of it inside during the movie and
- 1:23:15Speaker 1: what it looks like today. I mean, it's gorgeous. It
- 1:23:17Speaker 1: is unbelievable looking. The other thing, that is not the
- 1:23:21Speaker 1: only reason it's famous either. This house was also owned
- 1:23:27Speaker 1: by a former president. President Richard Nixon used to own
- 1:23:33Speaker 1: this house, and so when he was in office, they
- 1:23:36Speaker 1: would that would be his southern White House, as they
- 1:23:40Speaker 1: would say, I mean they got a concreted pier.
- 1:23:45Speaker 2: Uh yeah, Like, isn't that crazy? Concreted piers. I see
- 1:23:49Speaker 2: that that's probably a million dollars alone, just the peer.
- 1:23:52Speaker 1: They must host parties out there or something. Would you
- 1:23:54Speaker 1: ever like to buy a house that was in a movie?
- 1:23:59Speaker 1: Not necessary, but I would like to buy this house,
- 1:24:02Speaker 1: would you really? I mean, I wouldn't buy it for
- 1:24:04Speaker 1: the fact that it was in the movie. I'd buy
- 1:24:05Speaker 1: it for the fact that it's right there on the bay.
- 1:24:08Speaker 1: You got that great dog. Look at the view of
- 1:24:10Speaker 1: Miami that you have in the bank ground. That's your
- 1:24:12Speaker 1: setting right there. It's awesome. I mean it, it's an
- 1:24:15Speaker 1: unbelievable house. But yeah, there's got to be just a few.
- 1:24:18Speaker 1: I remember. I think within the last couple of months,
- 1:24:21Speaker 1: the former night show host Johnny Carson's house in Malibu, California,
- 1:24:26Speaker 1: has been for sale, and I think it was like
- 1:24:28Speaker 1: one hundred and something million, Not as much as this,
- 1:24:31Speaker 1: but his house right there overlooked the Pacific Ocean. Amazing.
- 1:24:35Speaker 1: But yeah, that there are a few people out there
- 1:24:37Speaker 1: that can afford this. And you gotta believe they're not
- 1:24:40Speaker 1: going to a bank and borrowing money to buy this house,
- 1:24:43Speaker 1: are they?
- 1:24:44Speaker 2: I just I don't know that if I had I
- 1:24:46Speaker 2: could have three billion dollars in my bank account.
- 1:24:50Speaker 1: You wouldn't buy it.
- 1:24:50Speaker 2: And I don't know that I'm spending two hundred and
- 1:24:52Speaker 2: thirty seven million on it. I don't think I am either.
- 1:24:54Speaker 2: If I had all that, I'm gonna build my own
- 1:24:56Speaker 2: house for twenty two million and save a bunch exactly.
- 1:25:01Speaker 1: Yeah. I don't know if I had all that money,
- 1:25:03Speaker 1: I would do that either. I'd probably I honestly, I
- 1:25:06Speaker 1: think I'd live in the same house I have right now.
- 1:25:09Speaker 1: I'd probably buy a house on an island and that's
- 1:25:13Speaker 1: all I would do and save the rest for my family.
- 1:25:16Speaker 1: I just I don't need that kind of stuff.
- 1:25:18Speaker 2: You know.
- 1:25:18Speaker 1: As a kid, I always want I want these cars.
- 1:25:20Speaker 1: I want these cars. I love cars. I don't care
- 1:25:24Speaker 1: about them anymore. I just don't. No. Yeah, but let's
- 1:25:29Speaker 1: talk about the Philadelphia Phillies. People are going to say,
- 1:25:31Speaker 1: why are you talking about the Philadelphia Phillies. This is
- 1:25:34Speaker 1: kind of crazy. Did you see where their picture Taijon Walker? Well,
- 1:25:42Speaker 1: you know, he got a big contract three years ago
- 1:25:45Speaker 1: for seventy two million dollars. He's in the third season
- 1:25:48Speaker 1: of it, and the Phillies have released him and decided
- 1:25:53Speaker 1: we'll just pay you the other eighteen million we owe you.
- 1:25:55Speaker 1: You're done. Hell yeah, in five games he had an
- 1:26:00Speaker 1: ERA of nine point one three. But he's still getting
- 1:26:04Speaker 1: his money. So he's still getting his money exactly. Not
- 1:26:07Speaker 1: just that, but they have another relief pitcher, Hayesu's Lozardo,
- 1:26:13Speaker 1: who just literally months ago, I think three or four
- 1:26:19Speaker 1: months ago, signed one hundred and thirty five million dollar extension.
- 1:26:24Speaker 1: He's struggling. His ERA is six point nine to one. Man,
- 1:26:30Speaker 1: if I'm the owner of the Phillies, I'm looking at
- 1:26:32Speaker 1: my general manager, Dude, what are you doing.
- 1:26:35Speaker 2: They're pitching has been Phillies in general have been really,
- 1:26:39Speaker 2: really bad, and they were the favorite going into the
- 1:26:41Speaker 2: year for that division. I mean, you have to wonder
- 1:26:45Speaker 2: what is Yeah, Kyle Schwarber's with the Phillies, Yeah, you
- 1:26:48Speaker 2: have to wonder. Does he regret not coming to Cincinnati,
- 1:26:51Speaker 2: But the way that the two seasons have played.
- 1:26:53Speaker 1: Out so far has to Yeah, you couldn't convince me otherwise.
- 1:26:57Speaker 1: But my goodness, they're eight and six seen so far
- 1:27:00Speaker 1: this year, and that's how bad they are. And then
- 1:27:03Speaker 1: you look at how much they spent on pitching, and
- 1:27:05Speaker 1: it just was a complete bust and I thought, man,
- 1:27:09Speaker 1: it must be nice to have that kind of money.
- 1:27:10Speaker 1: I guess not worry about it, but they did. I
- 1:27:13Speaker 1: don't know if you saw this story or not, but
- 1:27:14Speaker 1: there's a lady up in Indiana. She was going to
- 1:27:18Speaker 1: get her license renewed. All this is an Anderson Indiana.
- 1:27:23Speaker 1: Is that outside of Indianapolis? I think that's way up north?
- 1:27:26Speaker 1: It is, okay. Well, she goes to renew her license,
- 1:27:30Speaker 1: only to find out that the software that they use
- 1:27:34Speaker 1: for you know, facial recognition, flagged her and said this
- 1:27:40Speaker 1: might be a fraud issue here. So a gentleman from
- 1:27:46Speaker 1: a fraud and security enforcement investigator take her to another
- 1:27:50Speaker 1: room and she has no idea what's going on, and
- 1:27:53Speaker 1: they started asking all kinds of questions about her identity,
- 1:27:56Speaker 1: where you're from, and all that, and she gives all
- 1:27:59Speaker 1: the correct information, only to find out that there is
- 1:28:03Speaker 1: another person in Indiana that is her doppelganger. I did
- 1:28:08Speaker 1: see this, And did you see the picture of the tournament.
- 1:28:12Speaker 1: They are not doppelgangers. They are twins. They're twins, yeah,
- 1:28:15Speaker 1: I mean they look exactly alike. And now this woman
- 1:28:18Speaker 1: is trying to find the other woman to see each
- 1:28:21Speaker 1: other and meet each other do you believe? So that
- 1:28:23Speaker 1: raised the question do you believe in doppelgangers? Oh? Yeah,
- 1:28:27Speaker 1: so you think there is somebody in this world that
- 1:28:30Speaker 1: looks exactly like you? Maybe not exactly but close enough,
- 1:28:34Speaker 1: pretty similar. Well, this is an uncanny resemblance. When I
- 1:28:38Speaker 1: saw this, Yeah, they are identical. They are definitely identical.
- 1:28:42Speaker 1: And I thought that, and I'm like, wow, that's just
- 1:28:44Speaker 1: gonna be kind of eerie when you see something.
- 1:28:47Speaker 2: My question is if if this lady was flagged, that
- 1:28:51Speaker 2: obviously means the other one has done something wrong. So
- 1:28:54Speaker 2: why is she trying to seek her out? I don't
- 1:28:56Speaker 2: know that that's I.
- 1:28:57Speaker 1: Don't know if she's done something wrong. She just has
- 1:28:59Speaker 1: a life too. They thought that she was trying to
- 1:29:02Speaker 1: come under another name, Oh yeah, yeah, yeah. They thought
- 1:29:05Speaker 1: they were trying to come under or she was trying
- 1:29:08Speaker 1: to get a license under a completely different name when
- 1:29:10Speaker 1: she has a completely different identity gotch So it was
- 1:29:12Speaker 1: the facial recognition software that kind of flagged her and said,
- 1:29:16Speaker 1: oh we got a problem here. She's trying to come
- 1:29:19Speaker 1: up with a different account when we have her listed
- 1:29:22Speaker 1: as this other parton I'd be.
- 1:29:23Speaker 2: So weird and annoying at the same time, like like
- 1:29:27Speaker 2: as if being at the BMV for long time isn't
- 1:29:30Speaker 2: already annoying as it is. Yeah, then you've got to
- 1:29:33Speaker 2: stay there and extra however long to just verify all
- 1:29:36Speaker 2: your info?
- 1:29:37Speaker 1: Is that the one thing you dread the most? To
- 1:29:38Speaker 1: go get your license renewed? I never, I don't ever
- 1:29:41Speaker 1: go in. How do you do? I always do it online?
- 1:29:44Speaker 1: Oh you do?
- 1:29:44Speaker 2: I haven't been to the BMV in years? Well, how
- 1:29:47Speaker 2: do you go pick up your license?
- 1:29:48Speaker 1: Then they just mail it? Oh? They I didn't realize
- 1:29:50Speaker 1: they mailed it to you. Okay, well I'm wrong about that. Good.
- 1:29:53Speaker 2: Actually, you know what, maybe not with license, I might
- 1:29:55Speaker 2: be thinking of like registration.
- 1:29:57Speaker 1: Well that's car registration. I think license you have to go. Yeah,
- 1:30:00Speaker 1: I think you're probably Have you gotten your new Uh
- 1:30:04Speaker 1: what's the new one? They call the new ID? Or
- 1:30:07Speaker 1: real ID? Yeah? The real ID? Oh you haven't gotten it.
- 1:30:11Speaker 1: I don't think. So you better watch out when you
- 1:30:13Speaker 1: go fly. You need to have a real ID. When's
- 1:30:15Speaker 1: the next time I'm gonna fly? Probably never? Really, you
- 1:30:19Speaker 1: don't fly anywhere.
- 1:30:20Speaker 2: I couldn't tell you the last time I went on
- 1:30:21Speaker 2: a Okay, all right, then I don't go anywhere, Michael,
- 1:30:25Speaker 2: I'm always working.
- 1:30:26Speaker 1: Well, you need to change that you need well, you
- 1:30:28Speaker 1: just let the golf trip that you drove that. One
- 1:30:30Speaker 1: person texted Nixon lived in a tool shed with a
- 1:30:33Speaker 1: roommate when he entered law school Duke University. Middle name Millhouse.
- 1:30:38Speaker 1: That's that's wild. Lived in a tool shed with a
- 1:30:42Speaker 1: roommate when he entered law school at Duke. Times of change. Yeah,
- 1:30:48Speaker 1: but uh, one person said, green Day invites someone on
- 1:30:51Speaker 1: stage to play too. I didn't realize green Day was
- 1:30:53Speaker 1: like that. Uh. Anderson is near Muncie on the east
- 1:30:59Speaker 1: side of the state. Thank you, Patrick. I did not
- 1:31:02Speaker 1: know that. I had a cousin who played softball at Anderson. Really,
- 1:31:08Speaker 1: I don't know why I thought Anderson was around Indianapolis,
- 1:31:11Speaker 1: but it's clearly not.
- 1:31:12Speaker 2: Because when you're talking about Indiana, that's a pretty good
- 1:31:14Speaker 2: guest to just say everything's around Indy.
- 1:31:16Speaker 1: Well, I mean that's where a lot of stories come out,
- 1:31:19Speaker 1: is Indianapolis, without a doubt. But uh, all right, Uh, Monday,
- 1:31:22Speaker 1: we're gonna be at the backside. I am looking forward
- 1:31:26Speaker 1: to that. Uh. Uh, you know, it's it's big Derby week.
- 1:31:29Speaker 1: Everything starts, you know, Well, I know a lot of
- 1:31:32Speaker 1: people say everything started last weekend, but not much it's
- 1:31:34Speaker 1: going on during this week Chow Wagon Baby, was the
- 1:31:37Speaker 1: chow Chow Wagon open yesterday? Right? But they called something else,
- 1:31:42Speaker 1: don't they don't.
- 1:31:42Speaker 2: I've never been down there for that. Maybe I'll stop it.
- 1:31:44Speaker 2: Best of Bill is what they call it now. Yeah,
- 1:31:48Speaker 2: and uh so I haven't been down there years. I
- 1:31:51Speaker 2: mean I drive by it, but that's kind of it.
- 1:31:54Speaker 2: Uh you got that going on? Of course tomorrow you
- 1:31:56Speaker 2: got the big Tomorrow is the real big Great Balloon Race.
- 1:32:00Speaker 2: Isn't it the official one?
- 1:32:02Speaker 1: I thought it was today? Did they change it to
- 1:32:04Speaker 1: this today? Okay? So they changed it. You know I
- 1:32:08Speaker 1: used to have it to wear all the festival events
- 1:32:10Speaker 1: I had memorized. You could count on the Parade being
- 1:32:13Speaker 1: on Thursday, the Great Seam Boat Race being on Tuesday,
- 1:32:16Speaker 1: the Bedlam Races on Tuesday. But you know it's all
- 1:32:21Speaker 1: changed now. The parade is on Sunday, which I don't like.
- 1:32:26Speaker 1: I liked it on Thursday. But I've never been to
- 1:32:29Speaker 1: the Bedlam races at broad Ben Arena. I've been to
- 1:32:33Speaker 1: the steamboat race, which is always I kind of like
- 1:32:35Speaker 1: it as long as the weather's nice you go out there.
- 1:32:38Speaker 1: Our big tradition was we'd go to King Fish, get
- 1:32:41Speaker 1: a couple of fish sandwiches and watch the race there.
- 1:32:44Speaker 1: My dad was always out of town shows me and
- 1:32:45Speaker 1: my mom. But uh that that's yeah, you got that.
- 1:32:49Speaker 1: And then, uh, what are some of the other big
- 1:32:51Speaker 1: events going on? And of course you got Oaks Day
- 1:32:55Speaker 1: next Friday, and then Derby on Saturday. Five.
- 1:33:00Speaker 2: Today got a The Great Balloon blow Glow is tonight.
- 1:33:04Speaker 1: Yeah. I like the balloon glow, but that's one of
- 1:33:06Speaker 1: my favorite things.
- 1:33:07Speaker 2: And you're right, the big Balloon Race is tomorrow. Okay,
- 1:33:10Speaker 2: that's what I thought. Starts at seven.
- 1:33:11Speaker 1: Today was like a they call it a city race
- 1:33:14Speaker 1: or something like that, and uh so yeah, the main
- 1:33:18Speaker 1: races tomorrow we got. You got the marathon, you got
- 1:33:22Speaker 1: the Kentucky Derby, which was like that, yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 1:33:27Speaker 1: that would be fun. So I'm excited about it. You know,
- 1:33:30Speaker 1: the city is fun to be in when all this
- 1:33:32Speaker 1: is going on. I love the attention that Louisville gets
- 1:33:36Speaker 1: and the state gets. The bed races are Monday, well, well,
- 1:33:39Speaker 1: everyone out there be patients. We're gonna have road closures
- 1:33:44Speaker 1: because of the marathon, the Mini and all that kind
- 1:33:46Speaker 1: of did you hear patients with all the people.
- 1:33:49Speaker 2: Speaking of road closures. I saw yesterday they are closing
- 1:33:52Speaker 2: one to eleven in Indiana, which is the road that
- 1:33:56Speaker 2: goes to the casino on Derby on Derby week construction
- 1:34:02Speaker 2: that if I'm Caesar's, I am so pissed off about that.
- 1:34:06Speaker 2: You are costing us potentially millions of dollars by doing it.
- 1:34:11Speaker 1: I'm next week, I'm an absolute shocked they would do so,
- 1:34:14Speaker 1: because you know, you got all these people that are
- 1:34:16Speaker 1: probably coming in town to watch the and bet and
- 1:34:19Speaker 1: gamble there while they're going to the races too. Yep. Anyway,
- 1:34:22Speaker 1: all right, well let's all be patient with each other.
- 1:34:24Speaker 1: Let's welcome all these people that are coming in our
- 1:34:26Speaker 1: fair city and spend lots of money. So all right, everybody,
- 1:34:29Speaker 1: we'll see you Monday. Have a great weekend. Be careful,
- 1:34:33Speaker 1: let's go Derby
