- 1:01got vicky we got jason born jesus christ
- 1:06is jason born got meredith got jody dang
- 1:12speak speaking of amanda we got something
- 1:16on yesterday's show okay
- 1:19i had to share yes please and it
- 1:23all centered around something very very
- 1:25important and that is the fig newton oh
- 1:33i'm all ears so uh the first comment
- 1:38is corey's hard stance on fig newton had
- 1:41me dying worth noting i have a massive
- 1:44fig tree and fig newtons are incredibly
- 1:47difficult to make
- 1:49They come up more like fig turnovers,
- 1:51which are ten thousand percent better than
- 1:54a fig Newton.
- 1:57If the fig Newton is improved by ten
- 1:58thousand percent,
- 2:00is it something edible for Corey?
- 2:04Yeah,
- 2:04I'm going to go ahead and I'm going
- 2:05to go in.
- 2:06My grandmother used to have a fig tree
- 2:08as well, and I would eat figs.
- 2:12Like by themselves,
- 2:14I just think it makes no sense as
- 2:16a cookie.
- 2:17It's not a cookie.
- 2:19Ramirez has, look, there it is.
- 2:22Well, that was my next comment.
- 2:23I didn't want to jump to that yet.
- 2:25I wanted to give Amanda her time.
- 2:26Yeah, no, absolutely.
- 2:28She is, she is,
- 2:29she is one hundred percent correct.
- 2:32Yes.
- 2:33I love a Fig Newton.
- 2:34It doesn't need to be improved.
- 2:36It is perfect.
- 2:37And it is an amazing cookie.
- 2:40Now,
- 2:41just Ramirez says Fig Newton is not a
- 2:43cookie.
- 2:44It's a fig bar or a fruit filled
- 2:46snack.
- 2:48If you take four Fig Newtons and you
- 2:50put them in a line where the filling
- 2:53goes all the way through the middle,
- 2:55that's all that is.
- 2:57They took a Fig bar,
- 2:59cut it into four pieces,
- 3:00and then called it a cookie.
- 3:01It's not the same thing.
- 3:05Listen, it's not a Nutri-Grain bar.
- 3:08A Nutri-Grain bar is a fruit-filled bar.
- 3:10Absolutely.
- 3:12A Fig Newton is not that.
- 3:14That soft outer...
- 3:17Outer is a cookie.
- 3:18That is a cookie stuffed with figs.
- 3:22Now, I will tell you,
- 3:23when I was a kid,
- 3:25this popular cookie in my hometown,
- 3:28I don't know who thought this up,
- 3:29but it was called a raisin-filled cookie.
- 3:34So it was kind of like a sugar
- 3:36cookie with a bowl in the middle,
- 3:38and they put raisin goo in the bowl.
- 3:44That was awful.
- 3:46Still a cookie.
- 3:48Still a cookie.
- 3:52So you put fig goo inside a cookie.
- 3:55It's a cookie.
- 3:56Yeah,
- 3:58but I don't think a fig newton counts.
- 4:01If you took the middle part out of
- 4:03a fig newton,
- 4:04if you took the filling out of it,
- 4:07would you consider it to be a cookie?
- 4:08Because I would not.
- 4:09But if I took a chocolate chip out
- 4:11of a cookie,
- 4:12I wouldn't consider the chocolate chip a
- 4:13cookie.
- 4:16It's still a cookie.
- 4:18The chocolate chip by itself?
- 4:20No.
- 4:21I'm not talking about the fig.
- 4:23You take the fig part out.
- 4:24What do you have left?
- 4:28You have a sugar cookie.
- 4:35Mark's done with us.
- 4:35I'm unsubbing.
- 4:36This is ridiculous.
- 4:38Mark's had enough.
- 4:42Crazy.
- 4:45Vicky, I love figs.
- 4:47I love Fig Newtons.
- 4:48Love bacon-wrapped figs.
- 4:49Love all things fig.
- 4:51I have had a bacon-wrapped fig.
- 4:54It's extremely fancy.
- 4:55But to be fair,
- 4:58I could wrap this hat in bacon and
- 5:01I would eat it.
- 5:03That's how much I love bacon.
- 5:04So there's that.
- 5:09Ken Walters chiming in with Fig Newton
- 5:10falls into bar category of desserts.
- 5:15When did bars become a dessert?
- 5:19As soon as they started making Nutri-Grain
- 5:21bars.
- 5:23That ain't dessert.
- 5:25That's a snack.
- 5:27Okay.
- 5:27So is a cookie.
- 5:30No, a cookie is a dessert.
- 5:36Not the slow news day.
- 5:38Just trying to iron out some things from
- 5:40yesterday.
- 5:40That's all.
- 5:41Before we jump into things.
- 5:44Just trying to wrap some stuff up from
- 5:46yesterday.
- 5:46It's fine.
- 5:47Yeah, that's all.
- 5:51I love a Fig Newton.
- 5:52Corey hates a Fig Newton.
- 5:54Whatever.
- 5:57Figs are mid, as the kids say.
- 6:00Come on, man.
- 6:02I don't like super sweet desserts.
- 6:05Your Fig Newton is perfect.
- 6:07It's like just sweet enough to make me
- 6:10enjoy it.
- 6:11So if I sprinkled some salt on your
- 6:13Fig Newton, you'd be like, let's go.
- 6:19I don't need salt on it.
- 6:21mean that would make it even don't even
- 6:22get me into salted caramel because i don't
- 6:24even get that but oh dude salted caramel
- 6:27come on and then the last thing i
- 6:29want to wrap up from yesterday is i
- 6:31listened to the swamp pop playlist that
- 6:34you provided for me and it was actually
- 6:37very relaxing in a bad work day there
- 6:39you go
- 6:44Other than doing the butt thing,
- 6:47I didn't see a huge instrumental
- 6:50difference between it and other things.
- 6:54It just is like cool.
- 6:58What I sent you yesterday was, I think,
- 7:00like seven songs,
- 7:01something along those lines.
- 7:03And I guarantee you,
- 7:05out of the multitudes of weddings I have
- 7:08attended down here in South Louisiana,
- 7:10those seven songs have been played ninety
- 7:12nine percent of the time.
- 7:15so anyway speaking of salted caramel you
- 7:20can still get yours today at thirdsy.com
- 7:22backslash jazzy that's using code jazzy at

- 7:48and then we'll dive into the main topic
- 7:50for the day hit it and that is
- 7:56we have the confirmed individuals for the
- 8:02rebel renegade games happening in about an
- 8:05hour and a half maybe oh okay um
- 8:11so this is the women's field.
- 8:13We have Eileen wars.
- 8:16We have Matilde, Garness, Var, Thurman,
- 8:18Mo, Hannah black.
- 8:20I could keep reading,
- 8:21but you're most of these names are not
- 8:24known.
- 8:25Uh, Evie,
- 8:26Evie Hollis is the only other one I
- 8:27really knew of in this field.
- 8:33They only get one spot.
- 8:37I think it's Matilde's to, to lose.
- 8:40Yeah, I would agree to that.
- 8:45If we go to the men,
- 8:48you have Max Krieg is there.
- 8:53Max!
- 8:54Sven Gienz dropped out of French to do
- 8:57this one.
- 8:59And Ben Fowler.
- 9:05There's...
- 9:08Keelan Henry.
- 9:09There's someone else here, though,
- 9:10that was...
- 9:12Did you literally just skip over Jason
- 9:14Dix?
- 9:16Come on, dude.
- 9:17Jason Dix is there.
- 9:20It's Potguider.
- 9:21Where's Potguider?
- 9:22He's here.
- 9:24Here, Ruan.
- 9:25Ruan Potguider.
- 9:26Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 9:32Vicky's saying Tiago Luzes.
- 9:37That's the guy with the face tattoo.
- 9:41Very scary looking.
- 9:43Look at Max in South Africa, man.
- 9:48I love Max Craig.
- 9:51He is a fantastic human being.
- 9:52He is a Swifty.
- 9:57is a proud swifty as a matter of
- 9:58fact he is one of the most interesting
- 10:01people i've ever met in my entire life
- 10:02to have a conversation with and i hope
- 10:04to god he just does all does all
- 10:06the things and punches his ticket he works
- 10:08his ass off and he deserves to go
- 10:11i love max as well he's been trained
- 10:14by
- 10:16one miss uh burger here in town yep
- 10:21a friend of mine but i think this
- 10:24is ruan puck guider's competition to win
- 10:29tiago is pretty fit too max will be
- 10:33up there though he should he he'll be
- 10:34in the fight i have no question i
- 10:36have no doubt about that so i just
- 10:38hope he does what he can't if i'm
- 10:40pulling for somebody i'm pulling for max
- 10:43Seema wants to know if this is a
- 10:46CrossFit semifinal.
- 10:47Yes, it is.
- 10:48Absolutely.
- 10:49It is the Rebel Renegade Games.
- 10:53Vicky, let us know.
- 10:54Teams are actually on right now on the
- 10:56stream.
- 10:56Oh, I didn't know they were doing teams.
- 10:59Yeah,
- 11:00I think they get one team in too.
- 11:04But they only get one spot to the
- 11:05games.
- 11:08Well, let's go, Maxie.
- 11:11Max is getting internationalized of late.
- 11:13Yeah,
- 11:13he's hitting all the international spots.
- 11:19He had dinner at least one night with
- 11:21Brandon and Sammy.
- 11:26Yeah, he's a good dude, man.
- 11:29I agree.
- 11:30He's a great dude.
- 11:35So yesterday...
- 11:38mr castro was all over the place so
- 11:45let's check that out i saved a couple
- 11:49things so he did a behind the scenes
- 11:54and with that he was talking about kind
- 11:57of walking the way the athletes will enter
- 12:00the stadium
- 12:02at the sap center okay and with that
- 12:05i think it's like a marketing thing to
- 12:07because he they followed him walking out
- 12:10of the tunnel and then it opens up
- 12:12to this big arena with all these seats
- 12:15and the the lights and all that stuff
- 12:17now no floor anything because they're
- 12:18still playing hockey or we're playing
- 12:21hockey or basketball or so i don't know
- 12:23but anyway hockey ball he does all that
- 12:27But in that conversation,
- 12:30this was clipped by Dents.
- 12:32So I'm going to play this for you.
- 12:35Sure I am.
- 12:36History.
- 12:38Our past.
- 12:40The legacy of CrossFit.
- 12:41The legacy of the CrossFit Games.
- 12:43What is the legacy of the CrossFit Games?
- 12:46The ultimate test to find the fittest man
- 12:48and woman alive.
- 12:50Are you going to pull from old workouts?
- 12:53Time will tell.
- 12:55Time will tell.
- 12:56What's the inspiration this year?
- 12:58Our history.
- 13:00So you get it.
- 13:01He's so cagey, dude.
- 13:04Time will tell.
- 13:05That means yes.
- 13:07Well,
- 13:08you go on to this long diatribe that
- 13:11this year is about our history,
- 13:13this year is about our legacy,
- 13:15all of that stuff.
- 13:16Are you going to pull from that?
- 13:17Time will tell.
- 13:18Yeah.
- 13:19Come on, dude.
- 13:20He's not going to answer a direct
- 13:21question.
- 13:22I know,
- 13:22but he already pretty much answered it by
- 13:24the way he answered the first part.
- 13:26Absolutely.
- 13:27He's trying to be kind of cagey.
- 13:30Well, I mean, time will tell.
- 13:31You just talked about the fact that we've
- 13:33been doing this for twenty years.
- 13:35Come on, dude.
- 13:36Yeah.
- 13:37So I think that was pretty obvious.
- 13:42Jacob Matthew Seymour says,
- 13:45suites seem dope.
- 13:46He did when he walked out, he talked,
- 13:48there are going to be four floor suites
- 13:50at the finish line that people can
- 13:53purchase.
- 13:54I think I've already purchased.
- 13:56And then he showed the whole upper ring
- 13:59are private box suites.
- 14:02And I think he mentioned in the video,
- 14:04the full length video,
- 14:07those may already be sold damn good so
- 14:14that's awesome so that's that's good news
- 14:18now if they could sell some seats that
- 14:20would help but hopefully like as more
- 14:23people qualify more seats get sold because
- 14:26now you know who you want to go
- 14:28support
- 14:30as the floor gets set.
- 14:32Yeah.
- 14:32Well, the field gets set rather.
- 14:34I would, I would agree.
- 14:34That's probably going to,
- 14:36and as you get closer to it,
- 14:37because the people are waiting, dude,
- 14:38like every year it happens, right?
- 14:40They, they, they, they get up close.
- 14:43There's still seats left.
- 14:44All of a sudden you can get decent
- 14:46seats at a ridiculously discounted rate.
- 14:48And they just go ahead and start,
- 14:50they start filling up at that point.
- 14:52So it'll be fine.
- 14:56So leader said,
- 14:56wasn't that the inspo for last year back
- 14:58to classic CrossFit?
- 15:01I think last year was a forced back
- 15:05to classic CrossFit because in my opinion,
- 15:10the board of, excuse me,
- 15:11the board of directors,
- 15:14the board of directors didn't want the
- 15:18liability of outdoor events.
- 15:20Yeah.
- 15:22Other than a run.
- 15:25And so everything was brought inside,
- 15:28pretty much handcuffing them to classic
- 15:30CrossFit.
- 15:31And he had no choice.
- 15:33He doing it like as if it was
- 15:34in a gym setting,
- 15:35just on a larger scale.
- 15:37Yeah.
- 15:39So, um,
- 15:45he always pulls from old workouts to
- 15:47outside one ranch and two,
- 15:50he will try to reboot a capital style
- 15:51workout.
- 15:54I don't know.
- 15:55I don't, I'm,
- 15:57I don't want to be pessimistic about this.
- 15:59I want to be optimistic about this.
- 16:00I, I,
- 16:02Maybe he is inspired.
- 16:03And if he pulls from old workouts,
- 16:04so be it.
- 16:06So what?
- 16:07Who cares?
- 16:07Or modifies old workouts.
- 16:09I mean,
- 16:09you can only put things together so many
- 16:11different ways.
- 16:12We did Murph two years in a row
- 16:16at the games.
- 16:16They did Fibonacci two years in a row.
- 16:19They did Murph two years in a row,
- 16:21but they switched it up.
- 16:23That's what I'm getting at.
- 16:25You can pull from old stuff and then
- 16:26make it slightly different or different
- 16:29enough to matter anyway and going from
- 16:31ginormous big sets to not quite so
- 16:33ginormous big sets and now everybody's
- 16:34complaining about the sun.
- 16:36I would not bitch if Strongman's Fear came
- 16:38back.
- 16:39I would not either.
- 16:41Two-stroke pull.
- 16:45Pick some stuff, dude.
- 16:46Some cool stuff.
- 16:48Something along the lines of Chaos again.
- 16:51like a chaos two with different movements
- 16:53and nobody knows what they are.
- 16:54And we're lining up everybody at the same
- 16:56time and let them roll.
- 16:57That was fun to watch, dude.
- 17:00You don't know what's going on.
- 17:02You just know who's in the lead.
- 17:04You can kind of watch people try to
- 17:05game it and whatnot.
- 17:06That was fun to watch.
- 17:08That's one of my favorite events that ever
- 17:10happened.
- 17:13Um,
- 17:16Us Masters Games athletes are getting a
- 17:18free ticket for Friday only.
- 17:20If we want to spectate for the other
- 17:22two days,
- 17:23we still need to buy a three-day pass,
- 17:24no discount, nothing.
- 17:26They did put single-day tickets on sale,
- 17:29I believe, a couple days ago.
- 17:35Yeah, last year was the safety games.
- 17:38They just didn't have anybody in padded
- 17:40helmets and
- 17:42full full body pads and whatnot out there
- 17:45just in case like they were worried to
- 17:46death about it and i get it like
- 17:48i'm not mad at him for it it
- 17:50was still made and you still had some
- 17:51good races you know the men's field and
- 17:54especially like it was down to the last
- 17:57day before jason actually won it so good
- 18:00on them they may do what they had
- 18:02right they worked within the confines of
- 18:04their restrictions and they made it they
- 18:07made it as good as they possibly could
- 18:09so
- 18:09This year,
- 18:10hopefully that rain is a little bit
- 18:12loosened a little bit so they can move
- 18:14forward and do some cool stuff.
- 18:16It's going to have to see.
- 18:19Jacob says, no matter what they,
- 18:20when they return to outdoor risky events,
- 18:23risky, they will say, oh,
- 18:25now we forget about the tragedy.
- 18:27And a subset of people will be butthurt.
- 18:28You can't worry about those.
- 18:30No,
- 18:31but I think what he's getting at is
- 18:32that it's a vocal subset of people because
- 18:34they're going to be the first ones on
- 18:36there going, well,
- 18:37nobody cares about Lazar anymore.
- 18:40yeah no everybody's still sad that he's
- 18:41going dude like nobody's forgotten about
- 18:44him it's kind of hard to forget about
- 18:45him at this point so they make noise
- 18:49and then that gets highlighted because you
- 18:51can't help but see it on whatever post
- 18:52that you see everywhere whether it's on
- 18:54the instagram comments the youtube
- 18:56comments or whatnot so i i get what
- 18:58he's saying i personally just try to
- 19:01scroll past it because it's it you're not
- 19:04helping anybody at that point
- 19:06You're complaining to complain again,
- 19:09like we've been talking about all week.
- 19:10Those people are there specifically just
- 19:13to bitch about it because they need
- 19:15something to complain about because I
- 19:17don't like the way this is going.
- 19:18So I'm going to say what I got
- 19:20to say.
- 19:20They're the same people who get their
- 19:21order, get, you know,
- 19:25fifteen French fries at Chick-fil-A
- 19:27instead of seventeen French fries at
- 19:29Chick-fil-A and bring the bag back.
- 19:32Because I didn't get exactly what I
- 19:34ordered.
- 19:35It's the same thing.
- 19:35Well,
- 19:36the Chick-fil-A fries are a big waffle
- 19:38fry.
- 19:38So if you're missing two of me,
- 19:40it's a big deal.
- 19:41I'm just kidding.
- 19:45What I will say is if I have
- 19:48a criticism of CrossFit in this regard is
- 19:52I think sometimes they listen to the vocal
- 19:55minority.
- 19:56Yes.
- 19:57instead of especially the new regime the
- 20:01newest newer regime hopefully that changes
- 20:05with the new ceo but and the newer
- 20:08regime tends to listen to the vocal
- 20:11minority yeah instead of doing what they
- 20:14believe is right
- 20:18And I hope that comes to an end.
- 20:20And it didn't used to be like that.
- 20:21And people like us remember when it wasn't
- 20:23like that.
- 20:25When they were just like, hey, bro,
- 20:26this is what we're doing.
- 20:28Like it, don't like it, cool.
- 20:29We really don't care.
- 20:30We're just moving forward.
- 20:32So many years in a row,
- 20:33I would hear Boz and Dave and all
- 20:35these people say,
- 20:37we changed this because people said this.
- 20:41And when they say that, I'm like,
- 20:43that was like,
- 20:44ten percent of the population were
- 20:47bitching to bitch.
- 20:48And you guys dove into something that
- 20:50wasn't a real complaint.
- 20:53And when you do that,
- 20:54those people feel vindicated.
- 20:57And they get louder, and they're like,
- 20:58well, we made change.
- 21:01Yeah, but did you make good change?
- 21:03No, you did not.
- 21:06Ninety percent of the time,
- 21:07that did not do anybody any good.
- 21:09All it did was pull back the reins,
- 21:14stifle creativity as far as programming is
- 21:16concerned,
- 21:17and just made a worse show for everybody.
- 21:20Who wants to see that?
- 21:28um yeah we don't even have to do
- 21:32that jacob to to i mean no i
- 21:35see comments all the time it's yeah we
- 21:38get some of those yeah as a matter
- 21:41of fact yes vicky listening to the wrong
- 21:45percent of the voices yes so we talked
- 21:50about safety and talking about forgetting
- 21:52lazar
- 21:54Dave was also doing a,
- 21:57one of his athlete interviews with Sahir
- 21:59Maya.
- 22:01I probably didn't pronounce that
- 22:03perfectly, but it's fine.
- 22:04I know we knew you, me.
- 22:06Um, okay.
- 22:08And then this,
- 22:09so he asked swimming comes up in this
- 22:13interview.
- 22:14Second question is you mentioned you
- 22:15finished, um, second to last or,
- 22:18or almost last on the swim event.
- 22:21Um,
- 22:21is swimming another one of your
- 22:23weaknesses?
- 22:24Yeah,
- 22:25that's one of the questions I was going
- 22:27to ask you if we were swimming this
- 22:29year.
- 22:31Have you been working on it?
- 22:32I was in the pool this morning because
- 22:36I have a feeling.
- 22:39She was not in Nepal.
- 22:39Probably a good training to include
- 22:44swimming.
- 22:45That's not a bad idea.
- 22:48Not a bad idea.
- 22:51Not a bad idea.
- 22:54Now, my guess is if they swim,
- 22:55it's going to be in a pool.
- 22:56I would one hundred percent agree with
- 22:58that.
- 22:59Then I get it.
- 22:59They're not getting an ocean.
- 23:00That's not happening.
- 23:02But.
- 23:04I'm glad.
- 23:06Hopefully.
- 23:08Hopefully.
- 23:10Hopefully we get back to a pool and
- 23:12we stop being afraid.
- 23:17Don't so much that you can do.
- 23:20We were.
- 23:20Hmm.
- 23:23Jacob is telling me how to pronounce it.
- 23:25Thank you so much.
- 23:26Sierra, like the country.
- 23:27Syria.
- 23:28Meha.
- 23:29Syria.
- 23:30The country is Syria.
- 23:33Syria.
- 23:34Syria, Meha.
- 23:35Yeah, I can read too.
- 23:37Here's the thing, and this just struck me,
- 23:41okay?
- 23:42The Capitol, when we did the Capitol,
- 23:45that was in an open course, right?
- 23:49They were just running.
- 23:53somebody comes through because there's a
- 23:54there's a they're running on a sidewalk
- 23:56right next to the street um might get
- 24:01hit by a car just running on the
- 24:06street gets taken out right there somebody
- 24:09drunk driver somebody falls asleep at the
- 24:10wheel and any one of a number of
- 24:12things gonna happen
- 24:14They jump, somebody gets clipped, smashed,
- 24:17boom,
- 24:18all of a sudden the event's over because
- 24:20somebody just got hit by a car and
- 24:21the police had to shut down the entire
- 24:23course and whatnot.
- 24:25Do we not run anymore?
- 24:28Do we not do another outdoor run anymore
- 24:32forever for the next three years because
- 24:34somebody on an open course got hit by
- 24:36a car?
- 24:36Is that a thing?
- 24:37Not only will we stop running,
- 24:39but we're not allowed to drive either.
- 24:40We're not allowed to drive.
- 24:41All of us have to Uber now at
- 24:42every event.
- 24:44I don't,
- 24:45that's the overreaction that happens in
- 24:47those things.
- 24:48Yeah.
- 24:48And, and I always,
- 24:49I always compare it to like a pendulum
- 24:51swing.
- 24:52Right.
- 24:53Last year,
- 24:54the pendulum swung from what we were doing
- 24:56all the way to the other side,
- 24:59to the safety games.
- 25:01Yeah.
- 25:02As that pendulum goes back and forth,
- 25:04it stops swinging as far.
- 25:07And hopefully you get to the middle of
- 25:09common sense.
- 25:13i never like the over the the the
- 25:17holy the holy crap overreaction it's like
- 25:20oh that's oh we can't uh we can't
- 25:22swim anymore okay it's just it's terrible
- 25:24so joseph has a suggestion just add more
- 25:27machines yeah just put them on the air
- 25:29runners after that
- 25:37At Torian,
- 25:38Royce wasn't a hundred percent confident.
- 25:41The ruck wasn't going to be entirely shut
- 25:42down for the runners,
- 25:44according to the most recent podcast.
- 25:47Got to accept some risk and logistical
- 25:49impossibilities.
- 25:52Everyday life, you assume risk.
- 25:57Every day you wake up.
- 25:58Yep.
- 26:00You get on the road,
- 26:00you get hit by a bus.
- 26:02Boom.
- 26:02Your day's over with.
- 26:04It does not matter.
- 26:06I know people,
- 26:07especially once you getting into my age
- 26:10group and Scott's age group where you bend
- 26:12over to pick something up off the floor
- 26:14and it's not even heavy and you throw
- 26:16your back out because it happens.
- 26:19You have to accept some level of risk.
- 26:22It has to be there.
- 26:23It's inherent in everything you do.
- 26:26And then when you start trying to look
- 26:27for the fittest on earth,
- 26:29that level goes up and everybody that's
- 26:31there at the games
- 26:33no matter what level you're at,
- 26:36assumes that level of risk when they show
- 26:38up and assumes that, hey, man,
- 26:39something crazy might happen.
- 26:44Agreed.
- 26:44Rich fell off a rope.
- 26:48He wasn't two feet in the air.
- 26:50He wasn't four feet in the air.
- 26:51He was at the top of the rope
- 26:53when he fell all the way down and
- 26:55landed on that freaking Home Depot bucket.
- 26:58Pat and Matt fell off the top of
- 27:00the cargo net.
- 27:01If I sneeze wrong,
- 27:02I'm out for a week.
- 27:09Yeah.
- 27:09CrossFit emerged with an undertone of
- 27:11acceptance of risk.
- 27:12People still crave the refreshing sense of
- 27:14balanced view on risk versus reward.
- 27:16Yeah.
- 27:19Dave's background is military.
- 27:20The U.S.
- 27:21military has zero common sense and teaches
- 27:23that why do we think we have to
- 27:26have it at the games?
- 27:28It's not Dave's common sense.
- 27:29Guys, get off of Dave.
- 27:33All of this was mandated by the board
- 27:35of directors.
- 27:39We want to think Dave is the end-all
- 27:41be-all to this games thing.
- 27:43He answers to people.
- 27:48He's been doing it all his life.
- 27:49He's in the military.
- 27:51It's always somebody higher up.
- 27:55Always somebody higher up.
- 28:00Yeah, Mark's completely right.
- 28:05CrossFit started out as Metal AF.
- 28:07It's what drew people in.
- 28:09Dude, I...
- 28:11Honestly,
- 28:12like when I walked into a CrossFit gym,
- 28:13it was so different, so refreshing,
- 28:16so competitive.
- 28:17So what I was missing in my life.
- 28:20Yeah.
- 28:22All of those things.
- 28:25The first.
- 28:27workout I ever did where I went where
- 28:31I was hooked like all the way in
- 28:34I don't remember what it was but I
- 28:36remember laying on the ground trying to
- 28:39breathe sweating profusely heart beating
- 28:42out of my chest and thinking I want
- 28:45more of that
- 28:48Whatever that was, I need more of that.
- 28:50It's like, uh,
- 28:51Neo in the matrix when he, when they,
- 28:55the first time they,
- 28:55they upload something to his brain and
- 28:58he's like,
- 28:58I know Kung Fu and he's sitting there
- 29:01and he comes out of it and Oh,
- 29:02Mikey likes it.
- 29:03Yup.
- 29:04He sure does.
- 29:05Cause that feels amazing.
- 29:07And I want to do that again.
- 29:09I want to push myself again.
- 29:10I want to,
- 29:11I don't want to say hurt myself,
- 29:13but I mean, it hurts.
- 29:14CrossFit hurts.
- 29:16It's not a secret.
- 29:18Larry Young with the Super Chat.
- 29:20I found JR saying your bias should change
- 29:23every comp refreshing.
- 29:25And I'll give kudos to your son, Larry.
- 29:27I watched his two thousand fourteen
- 29:28analysis.
- 29:29I haven't talked about all of the
- 29:31different games and how every one of the
- 29:34games had a bias and that.
- 29:36And he said this.
- 29:38That's OK.
- 29:39It's OK for every competition to have a
- 29:41bias in that sport.
- 29:45That is sport.
- 29:49when you are playing football,
- 29:51you don't know the weather conditions.
- 29:53You don't know the wind speed.
- 29:55You don't know a lot of things.
- 29:56When you're playing golf, hell,
- 29:58if there's a gust of wind,
- 30:00your ball could go off into whatever,
- 30:03right?
- 30:04Sand traps are not always in the same
- 30:05place.
- 30:05The whole location changes.
- 30:08Everything can have a bias and it's going
- 30:11to affect the overall overall
- 30:14the overall outlook and performance of the
- 30:17athletes at that event.
- 30:20Yep.
- 30:20And it's okay.
- 30:23It's actually a good thing because it, it,
- 30:27it better prepares you for the crazy stuff
- 30:30that might happen on a regular everyday
- 30:31basis.
- 30:36the more adverse the conditions that you
- 30:39finish something in,
- 30:40that you start something in and then
- 30:41finish something in when you can do it
- 30:44again.
- 30:44And because measurable, observable,
- 30:47repeatable, it's a repeatable part.
- 30:49And now it's, well,
- 30:50last time I did this,
- 30:51it was four hundred degrees outside and
- 30:53ninety nine percent humidity.
- 30:54And today it's seventy five and sunny and
- 30:57breezy.
- 30:58This should be better.
- 30:59But I finished it when it was four
- 31:01hundred degrees and ninety ninety nine
- 31:02percent humidity.
- 31:03So it's
- 31:05you have to be able to get through
- 31:06all that.
- 31:08And thank you very much, Larry,
- 31:09for the super chat.
- 31:11A hundred percent.
- 31:14Uh, speaking of the foreign degrees,
- 31:16Athena wants to know if you got your
- 31:17fan situation squared, squared away.
- 31:19Yeah.
- 31:19Um, it,
- 31:20so obviously we don't have air
- 31:22conditioning in our building and all,
- 31:23we have a very much a metal roof
- 31:25and the fan is probably fan is probably
- 31:28a foot and a half.
- 31:29If that from the metal roof and it
- 31:30was hot as shit,
- 31:31it happens from time to time.
- 31:33It gets overheated.
- 31:35It shuts down for a little while.
- 31:36If you just turn it off and leave
- 31:38it alone, it goes back on.
- 31:41It's a pretty bad day when your fan
- 31:43overheats.
- 31:44yeah it's just because it's just because
- 31:46it wouldn't where it is in particular a
- 31:48lot of those big ass fans or like
- 31:50they have enough ceiling you know for it
- 31:52to drop down and have enough airflow in
- 31:54between it where it never overheats and
- 31:56generally speaking or this happens a
- 31:59couple times a year um but it's ours
- 32:02because our ceilings aren't super high
- 32:04it's so close to that metal roof that
- 32:06if you got a good hot sunny day
- 32:08when it's ninety something degrees outside
- 32:10there's a chance it could overheat
- 32:13Can't you get a big ass fan for
- 32:14the floor?
- 32:15Can you make them?
- 32:16We had two giant box fans in that
- 32:18room as well.
- 32:19And then two other ones on the other
- 32:20side by the way.
- 32:21You didn't just say box fan, did you?
- 32:23Yeah.
- 32:25I mean, it's not an actual box,
- 32:26but yeah,
- 32:26we got two big old fans that we
- 32:29can roll around on wheels.
- 32:30They're circle, right?
- 32:32Yeah, they are.
- 32:33That ain't a box fan, man.
- 32:34That's like an industrial fan.
- 32:35I understand that,
- 32:35but I don't know what else to call
- 32:37it.
- 32:38And we ain't like at grandma's house with
- 32:40a little box fan in the corner.
- 32:43No,
- 32:43but I've done that in my garage before.
- 32:46Sure.
- 32:46And what help is that in your garage?
- 32:49Not a whole lot.
- 32:50It was more mental than anything else.
- 32:52You might as well blow on your hand.
- 32:54Yeah, pretty much.
- 32:55Ooh, there's a breeze.
- 32:59One of them Southern Lady fans.
- 33:02I probably have to have a mint julep
- 33:03in the other hand.
- 33:04But anyway.
- 33:05Is it better to vent out the heat
- 33:07or have floor fans to move the hot
- 33:09air?
- 33:09We have exhaust fans because it's an old
- 33:12industrial building.
- 33:13But mostly what they do is make noise.
- 33:18Like they are loud as shit.
- 33:21And sometimes people,
- 33:23it depends on who's coaching.
- 33:24Sometimes they'll run them.
- 33:25Sometimes they won't.
- 33:25And I don't find that they make any
- 33:27difference whatsoever aside from making it
- 33:29way louder in there than it needs to
- 33:30be.
- 33:32Brux's rolling big-ass swamp coolers are
- 33:34nice.
- 33:35They are.
- 33:35They're expensive, though.
- 33:38Like, a lot.
- 33:40Yeah, it's hot.
- 33:40Everybody hop on the Echo bike.
- 33:42There you go.
- 33:46We are the machines.
- 33:47Machines, baby.
- 33:48Get on the bike.
- 33:49You want to get cool?
- 33:51If you really want to get down there,
- 33:53you get one of your friends to get
- 33:54on the bike and fan you.
- 33:55You just stand there in front of the
- 33:56bike.
- 33:58Works well.
- 34:00Well, I have a one o'clock meeting.
- 34:01I hate that.
- 34:03But there's one thing I did want to
- 34:05leave you guys with.
- 34:06And it comes with a little story.
- 34:08When I, you know, I am,
- 34:09the reason this show is named Clydesdale
- 34:11is because I'm a larger man.
- 34:14You big dude.
- 34:15Right.
- 34:17And it comes from,
- 34:20I always wanted to run events.
- 34:22And back in the day,
- 34:24some of the running events would have a
- 34:25Clydesdale division.
- 34:26Sure.
- 34:28If you were over two hundred pounds or
- 34:29two twenty five or something like that,
- 34:31you could enter the Clydesdale division
- 34:33and just compete against people like that.
- 34:35Well,
- 34:35I would always play pickup basketball.
- 34:37I loved playing pickup basketball.
- 34:40But I never got any fouls called on
- 34:44people playing.
- 34:45blocking me charging me or whatever
- 34:48because of my large stature people just
- 34:51kind of they assume you just knocking
- 34:53people over yeah right so i found a
- 34:57guy who is going through the same thing
- 34:59i did when i was a kid i
- 35:01love this video by the way and i
- 35:04and i had to share it so i'm
- 35:08gonna pull this up
- 35:15Here we go.
- 35:16Here we go.
- 35:19That's his friend.
- 35:21That's his teammate.
- 35:26You never, ever, never,
- 35:28ever celebrate with a Clydesdale.
- 35:31Here's the thing.
- 35:31You can.
- 35:33Don't get airborne.
- 35:37But the little subtlety,
- 35:38do you see him blow the kiss before
- 35:40he hits the three?
- 35:40That's perfect, dude.
- 35:41That's perfect.
- 35:42He juked that dude out of his shoes
- 35:43and was like, watch this.
- 35:46I'm going to play it one more time.
- 35:48Watch for him blowing the kiss.
- 35:58That is my man.
- 36:00love it laced it ran back and his
- 36:02teammates trying to celebrate with him god
- 36:04bless him it didn't work out well yeah
- 36:10good stuff good i just had to share
- 36:12it it just felt like old times on
- 36:14the basketball court for me uh daniel
- 36:17arnson wants to know how tall i am
- 36:19i am five eleven just a shade under
- 36:23six foot
- 36:29So, yeah, when I started CrossFit,
- 36:33that was tall for being a CrossFitter.
- 36:36Not anymore.
- 36:37Now we got the hoppers and the sprags
- 36:39and the peppers and making me look
- 36:43shorter.
- 36:43All them big boys.
- 36:46But when I was rooming with Corey,
- 36:48there was definitely a difference in our
- 36:49height.
- 36:49A hundred percent.
- 36:51We figured that out day one.
- 36:52Yeah, pretty quick.
- 36:56So hanging out with Corey, I feel tall.
- 36:59Anybody who ever wants to feel tall,
- 37:00just come stand next to me.
- 37:02I'm perfectly fine with that.
- 37:06Seema, me too.
- 37:07I'm five-eleven and three-quarters.
- 37:09My doctor says I can't say six feet.
- 37:13You can be six feet tall, Seema.
- 37:15It's fine.
- 37:15You can be whatever you want to be.
- 37:17It's two-twenty-twenty-six.
- 37:18You can literally be whatever the hell you
- 37:20want to be.
- 37:20It doesn't even matter anymore.
- 37:25Yeah, when I was in high school,
- 37:28I tried to say I was six feet.
- 37:30Oh, speaking about six feet.
- 37:31So David Johnston,
- 37:34when he and I met in person or
- 37:35right before that, when he said,
- 37:38asking me if the short guys were going
- 37:40to dominate one of the events at Magic
- 37:41City.
- 37:42And I was like, I mean,
- 37:43maybe I said,
- 37:45I've been five foot six since I was
- 37:46fifteen.
- 37:46He's like, damn it.
- 37:50He said in my head,
- 37:51you were six feet tall.
- 37:52He said,
- 37:52I just assume everybody's the same height
- 37:54as me.
- 37:54And I was like,
- 37:55I am not the same height as you.
- 37:58Yeah.
- 37:59David Johnson is a specimen at six feet
- 38:01tall.
- 38:02That dude is carved out of granite.
- 38:04It is absolutely insane.
- 38:06He is absurdly strong.
- 38:08And he's a great dude.
- 38:09Love that dude.
- 38:11Daniel is six three.
- 38:13He used to be too big for this.
- 38:15Yeah, now you're not anymore.
- 38:16Not anymore.
- 38:18Now I just hope for rowing and echo
