- 0:03Speaker 1: Wake up.
- 0:05Speaker 1: Good next to.
- 0:06Speaker 1: Kicking off your day in the best way. It's Sonia
- 0:09Speaker 1: and Joakim on the shock circuit. Good morning. Welcome to
- 0:13Speaker 1: the show and well, happy midweek to you. We are
- 0:16Speaker 1: inching closer to November, Sonia. I know, super close and
- 0:21Speaker 1: you might be in exam season right now. We wish
- 0:23Speaker 1: you all the best, sending you all the love. We've
- 0:25Speaker 1: got Slater first, Singapore's number one hit music station.
- 0:31Speaker 1: Thank you for joining us here this morning on the
- 0:33Speaker 1: 28th of October as we inch closer to November, believe
- 0:36Speaker 1: it or not. Yeah, I mean, we have maybe say
- 0:40Speaker 1: less than 3 or 4 more days for you to
- 0:44Speaker 1: check out our 987 escape room. Yeah, it's almost over actually,
- 0:49Speaker 1: so fast. So I wonder whether people are enjoying it
- 0:53Speaker 1: because I have seen people tag me in some of
- 0:55Speaker 1: the stories and photos.
- 0:57Speaker 1: They were saying that they had loads of fun. Uh,
- 1:00Speaker 1: it's something they never thought they would do, and they
- 1:02Speaker 1: got curious and they went and they really enjoyed solving
- 1:05Speaker 1: all the puzzles. Yeah, um, I just, I also wonder
- 1:08Speaker 1: whether they were taking, uh, keeping tabs on the timing
- 1:12Speaker 1: to complete it because I felt like we took quite
- 1:15Speaker 1: some time to finish it, especially with the first task.
- 1:18Speaker 1: And provided also like we are supposed to know more
- 1:21Speaker 1: about a radio station than anyone else, right?
- 1:24Speaker 1: But somehow it backfired on us. However, um, the organizers
- 1:28Speaker 1: did say that we actually completed it quite quickly. Oh, how,
- 1:33Speaker 1: I don't know, I felt like we took so long. Yeah,
- 1:36Speaker 1: because it like 2 hours? Again, what I like and
- 1:39Speaker 1: don't like about the escape room is they will play
- 1:42Speaker 1: that tension, horror sounding music makes you anxious. Yeah, and
- 1:46Speaker 1: the simplest task could become very hard because of the
- 1:49Speaker 1: music and how it distracts you and how it puts
- 1:51Speaker 1: your mind.
- 1:52Speaker 1: As if like you're really fighting for your life. It's
- 1:55Speaker 1: it's meant to throw you off a little bit, yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 1:57Speaker 1: and to frazzle you, you know. So anyway, um, hopefully
- 2:01Speaker 1: you managed to get your passes to go or, you know,
- 2:03Speaker 1: grab some friends, go. I think you still got a
- 2:05Speaker 1: couple of days to give it a try. Yeah, with
- 2:08Speaker 1: that said, hey, the good news is, whoa, the PSI
- 2:11Speaker 1: forecast for today looking good, 60 to 90.
- 2:16Speaker 1: That's as as best as it can be for now.
- 2:19Speaker 1: We are in the green, but um, you know, I'm
- 2:21Speaker 1: very relieved for our friends in Indonesia. There was some
- 2:23Speaker 1: rain over the weekend. Yeah. Everyone looking very relieved. So
- 2:27Speaker 1: hopefully that, you know, keeps up. Loads of happenings over
- 2:30Speaker 1: in Indonesia involving our foreign minister and their foreign minister
- 2:34Speaker 1: as well. Not to worry, we'll summarize all the action
- 2:37Speaker 1: for you in just a bit here on the shock circuit.
- 2:39Speaker 1: It was somewhere near the Marina Bay Sands area yesterday,
- 2:42Speaker 1: I think.
- 2:43Speaker 1: Avenue I was going for a jog and then I
- 2:46Speaker 1: hear this TP traffic police shouting, Don't cross the road yet.
- 2:50Speaker 1: Don't cross the road yet. So he was one man
- 2:53Speaker 1: stopping all four sides of traffic. Then I was thinking, OK,
- 2:57Speaker 1: usually they do this for convoys or someone very official,
- 3:02Speaker 1: and I was just thinking to myself, who's in town?
- 3:04Speaker 1: Then I realized it's the Chancellor of Germany, Mr. Friedrich Mertz.
- 3:09Speaker 1: He's in town.
- 3:10Speaker 1: And so yesterday it was quite a sight to see actually.
- 3:13Speaker 1: You see like one TP officer ride past, then the
- 3:16Speaker 1: second one, and all of a sudden the entire convoy
- 3:18Speaker 1: shows up. Was that limousine or something? Yeah, so you
- 3:21Speaker 1: see the Singapore flag and the Germany flag. So that
- 3:23Speaker 1: could have been his car. Then there was a dummy
- 3:26Speaker 1: car behind as well with the flags covered and you
- 3:29Speaker 1: see all sorts of like cara not like caravans, vans
- 3:33Speaker 1: and security details. It was quite a sight, yeah. I'm
- 3:37Speaker 1: not gonna lie.
- 3:39Speaker 1: When you said that, I thought like a family of
- 3:42Speaker 1: otters were crossing the road. Like you literally set it
- 3:46Speaker 1: up like that. I mean, you set it up to
- 3:48Speaker 1: sound like that. it's Marina Bay Sands. It's possible. You
- 3:53Speaker 1: won't be wrong. Yeah, it's actually quite possible. I mean, look,
- 3:55Speaker 1: the amount of times people have cited, you know, otters
- 3:58Speaker 1: just coming out into our habitat or or rather maybe
- 4:00Speaker 1: we're invading their habits.
- 4:02Speaker 1: Uh, whichever way. So if you paid attention to any
- 4:05Speaker 1: of the speeches given yesterday by our Prime Minister and
- 4:07Speaker 1: the Chancellor of Germany, you'd actually know that, hey, Singapore
- 4:11Speaker 1: and Germany's relations are quite close, you know. We we
- 4:13Speaker 1: are besties. Pretty tight. Then again, we are besties with everyone.
- 4:17Speaker 1: But I was gonna say this, ah, in national service,
- 4:20Speaker 1: you will learn that our leopard tanks are actually German-made.
- 4:24Speaker 1: So is my um what is made here. Cars are
- 4:29Speaker 1: a lot of cars are made in Singapore, I guess
- 4:32Speaker 1: you're driving a BMW, as they say in Germany, BV. Yes,
- 4:37Speaker 1: there you go. What else actually? So many things to
- 4:39Speaker 1: be honest, right? Like are made in Germany, but now
- 4:42Speaker 1: nothing comes to mind. I don't know.
- 4:43Speaker 1: I'm thinking of Schindler's List, but oh wow, OK, that's, yeah,
- 4:47Speaker 1: that's far out. Yeah, I can only think of cars
- 4:49Speaker 1: right now. And like I mentioned earlier, um, I actually
- 4:55Speaker 1: buy this particular product and they just recalled one flavor
- 5:01Speaker 1: in particular.
- 5:03Speaker 1: Because of the presence of glass fragments. Oh no. So, um,
- 5:09Speaker 1: the only reason honestly why I even started buying this
- 5:12Speaker 1: product in the first place is because of Jeremy, OK?
- 5:15Speaker 1: Because I know you guys are always obsessed with anything
- 5:18Speaker 1: that has protein in it.
- 5:19Speaker 1: I correct me if I'm wrong. When you say you guys,
- 5:23Speaker 1: you guys don't bunch me up there. Is it not true?
- 5:25Speaker 1: I mean, I know you, you drink the protein milk
- 5:28Speaker 1: thing that gave you a stomach upset at that time. Yeah,
- 5:30Speaker 1: I'll never forget that. That was my 2nd or 3rd
- 5:33Speaker 1: bottle in my life, and I've never touched it ever since. Yeah,
- 5:36Speaker 1: but the truth is that a lot of men will
- 5:39Speaker 1: go and seek out, not just men, I think women too.
- 5:43Speaker 1: But a higher percentage of guys maybe who gym a lot,
- 5:45Speaker 1: they want to have like more protein or consume more protein.
- 5:49Speaker 1: For me, I'll get like chicken breast. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 5:52Speaker 1: you can, you can, but there are also other forms of,
- 5:55Speaker 1: you know, people still want to supplement it with other
- 5:57Speaker 1: forms of protein powder or protein products, right? They got
- 5:59Speaker 1: all these proteins and once in a while you crave
- 6:03Speaker 1: a snack like maybe you want chips or you want
- 6:05Speaker 1: like
- 6:06Speaker 1: A dessert, but you want to make sure that there's
- 6:08Speaker 1: health benefits to it. So you get like a protein-based something. Yeah,
- 6:11Speaker 1: there's a protein chin chips, yeah, there's protein chocolate, everything
- 6:15Speaker 1: has protein in it, including this protein pudding that Jeremy
- 6:19Speaker 1: bought like quite a while ago for us to try. OK.
- 6:22Speaker 1: And when he bought it, it was a chocolate pudding.
- 6:24Speaker 1: He ended up not liking it because I think he
- 6:26Speaker 1: didn't like the texture or something.
- 6:27Speaker 1: I, but I liked it. I was like, oh, I,
- 6:29Speaker 1: I don't mind. Like, and I, you know, I'm not
- 6:31Speaker 1: a huge meat eater, right? So I was like, OK,
- 6:33Speaker 1: I don't mind if there's like additional protein in there.
- 6:35Speaker 1: And it could be seen as a healthy snack. Yeah,
- 6:37Speaker 1: so usually these protein snacks try not to add like
- 6:40Speaker 1: sugar as well. So it's either 0, like 1 g
- 6:43Speaker 1: of sugar or no added sugar.
- 6:46Speaker 1: Um, Ala protein salted caramel pudding, unfortunately has been recalled
- 6:51Speaker 1: because they potentially contain glass fragments and they are warning
- 6:55Speaker 1: you that if you've bought it anytime recently, do not
- 6:58Speaker 1: consume it. Um, the product originates from Denmark and this
- 7:03Speaker 1: particular batch has a best before date of April 28, 2027.
- 7:08Speaker 1: So disclaimer, if you see that best before date, please
- 7:11Speaker 1: dispose of it immediately.
- 7:13Speaker 1: Um, they said it is unsafe for consumption and should
- 7:16Speaker 1: not be sold, so they're trying their best to recall everything.
- 7:19Speaker 1: It's working at a food packing facility because one small accident,
- 7:22Speaker 1: it could cause that's it. Whoa, like recall a lot
- 7:29Speaker 1: of money lost, firstly, and Singapore is not the only
- 7:33Speaker 1: place they export to, I'm very sure, right? One clear
- 7:36Speaker 1: example I love is if you watch the movie The
- 7:40Speaker 1: Incredible Hulk.
- 7:41Speaker 1: the one starring Edward Norton, that's kind of canon to
- 7:44Speaker 1: the MCU, right? They actually show them bottling this drink
- 7:48Speaker 1: in Brazil, and then because of one guy, or rather
- 7:52Speaker 1: the Hulk himself, he drops his blood into one of
- 7:55Speaker 1: the drinks. It mixes and someone else actually drinks the
- 7:58Speaker 1: drink and it happens. You see, I mean, accidents do happen,
- 8:02Speaker 1: but I'm just very curious what exactly happened there in
- 8:05Speaker 1: the factory or something like there must have been.
- 8:08Speaker 1: An incident, they flagged it up and too late, it
- 8:10Speaker 1: went out. Yeah. So hey, um, if you truly do
- 8:15Speaker 1: enjoy the product as well, you know, um, once they
- 8:18Speaker 1: get rid of this particular batch, uh, just buy another
- 8:21Speaker 1: one and show some love and support. It could also
- 8:24Speaker 1: be a reminder that even though you buy something that's sealed,
- 8:27Speaker 1: it's good to open it and check a few things
- 8:30Speaker 1: first before you consume it. But that's the thing with
- 8:32Speaker 1: glass bits, you can't.
- 8:34Speaker 1: You see it. You can't see it and even something
- 8:36Speaker 1: as minuscule as like, I don't know, a shard the
- 8:40Speaker 1: size of a grain of sand could cut your throat.
- 8:42Speaker 1: That's what people are saying, right? So, um, once again,
- 8:45Speaker 1: if you do see, and if you do see the
- 8:48Speaker 1: best before date of April twenty-eighth on your Arla salted
- 8:51Speaker 1: caramel pudding, please get rid of it today. Of all
- 8:57Speaker 1: things to be pudding, you know. I know, it's so
- 8:58Speaker 1: hard to see or spot anything.
- 9:01Speaker 1: Answering the call of nature in public. I, I wish
- 9:05Speaker 1: that upon no one. I mean, when you say public,
- 9:09Speaker 1: do you mean like public toilet or in public where
- 9:12Speaker 1: there is zero access to the toilet. So this man
- 9:14Speaker 1: was caught on camera. Oh no, answering the call of
- 9:18Speaker 1: nature at a Kampong Glam car park. Oh no. OK, so,
- 9:22Speaker 1: and I, I'm, I'm, I'm commentating everything that's happening in
- 9:27Speaker 1: this video.
- 9:27Speaker 1: OK, OK, so he obviously needed to go. I guess
- 9:32Speaker 1: he pees into a plastic bag. Oh, OK, so considerate.
- 9:38Speaker 1: You would think after he's done, he might throw the
- 9:41Speaker 1: plastic bag. The answer is no. What does he do?
- 9:45Speaker 1: He throws it under his car. He gets in the
- 9:48Speaker 1: car and drives off, and later on it's seen that
- 9:51Speaker 1: the plastic bag has burst open and everything.
- 9:54Speaker 1: That was inside there has leaked out. Why would he
- 9:56Speaker 1: throw it under like that that's the it make sense.
- 10:00Speaker 1: That's the question we all want to know. So yeah, uh,
- 10:04Speaker 1: to this guy who thought that you were doing it discreetly, no,
- 10:06Speaker 1: you were caught on someone's phone camera, bro and it's
- 10:09Speaker 1: now circulating around the internet. Look, I mean, even if
- 10:12Speaker 1: you did that with like pee, for example, or dog
- 10:15Speaker 1: poo where you know you have to clear up their
- 10:17Speaker 1: feces and whatever when you go for walks and you
- 10:19Speaker 1: throw it out there.
- 10:20Speaker 1: You're still gonna get into trouble for that, by the way,
- 10:23Speaker 1: and people can still catch you and, you know, say
- 10:25Speaker 1: that you are irresponsible. So yeah, you had the first
- 10:29Speaker 1: part of your idea correct. Yeah, the intention was there.
- 10:32Speaker 1: Why are you go and throw it? The second part
- 10:34Speaker 1: was very wrong, unfortunately confusing, confusing. Um, I, there was
- 10:40Speaker 1: something that I witnessed a long time ago. This was
- 10:43Speaker 1: like
- 10:44Speaker 1: I don't know, man, like maybe even 1010 or so
- 10:46Speaker 1: years ago, maybe slightly less, but um, this was when
- 10:49Speaker 1: I was staying back in the Pasir Ris area, OK?
- 10:53Speaker 1: And um, by the way, it is not representative of
- 10:55Speaker 1: the people of Pasir Ris. I like how you're defending
- 10:57Speaker 1: the Pasir I have to, I have to, I have
- 11:00Speaker 1: to definitely say that first and give a disclaimer because
- 11:02Speaker 1: I
- 11:02Speaker 1: I did enjoy growing up there, um, but I came
- 11:05Speaker 1: home late one night. This was like after clubbing or
- 11:08Speaker 1: something like 4 a.m. thereabouts, OK. So I was like
- 11:12Speaker 1: going back and um, yeah, 4 a.m. is still OK.
- 11:15Speaker 1: My parents won't scold me yet.
- 11:17Speaker 1: I went back. Um, as I was making my way back,
- 11:20Speaker 1: I saw a dude, and I think that he had
- 11:23Speaker 1: quite a bit to drink. Like he looked quite intoxicated.
- 11:26Speaker 1: He was peeing into a drain, like outside the block.
- 11:30Speaker 1: And there was no one, granted, there was no one
- 11:32Speaker 1: except me, like I was walking by. He didn't see
- 11:36Speaker 1: me because I was walking from the, the back, but
- 11:38Speaker 1: he was clearly peeing into the drain and he looked
- 11:41Speaker 1: kind of drunk. He was like swinging from side to side.
- 11:43Speaker 1: And I was just like, I chuckled to myself because
- 11:46Speaker 1: I was like there's nothing that I could or would
- 11:48Speaker 1: do at this point in time. I'm so tired. I
- 11:50Speaker 1: just want to go home and shower and sleep. And
- 11:52Speaker 1: this bro, poor thing, he probably held it all the
- 11:54Speaker 1: way in like on the way home, and he's just
- 11:56Speaker 1: trying to sober up before going up. But I'm not
- 11:59Speaker 1: saying that you should be peeing out there, OK? It's
- 12:02Speaker 1: just still an offense. It is still an offense. I
- 12:04Speaker 1: just chuckle because I feel you, bro. Please don't urine
- 12:07Speaker 1: or defecate in public. Urinate, yes, yes, yeah, don't do that.
- 12:12Speaker 1: Anyway, um, I'm not sure what's gonna happen to that guy.
- 12:15Speaker 1: He might get a fine or something if they uh
- 12:17Speaker 1: I mean, on the media outlets, they censored his face,
- 12:20Speaker 1: but they've identified him for sure, right? I'm not too
- 12:23Speaker 1: sure about the actual video that's circulating on social media. Yeah. OK.
- 12:27Speaker 1: Depends now if they want to pursue that case or not.
- 12:29Speaker 1: Let's see. Yeah. If you're the sort that, you know,
- 12:31Speaker 1: you constantly order a lot of stuff online, and I,
- 12:34Speaker 1: I know that a neighbor of mine, um, adjacent to me,
- 12:38Speaker 1: she always orders stuff online because every
- 12:41Speaker 1: In a day or two, I will see a new
- 12:43Speaker 1: parcel at her doorstep and she obviously has a, you know,
- 12:46Speaker 1: 9 to 5 job because she's never in in the daytime.
- 12:49Speaker 1: Can I ask, yeah, have you ever capoed? No, and
- 12:53Speaker 1: just kind of peek at what she's ordering on a
- 12:56Speaker 1: daily basis, I didn't. I know she likes a lot
- 12:58Speaker 1: of soda water. That's the only thing I can see.
- 13:01Speaker 1: Oh wow.
- 13:01Speaker 1: That's visible. Everything else is wrapped, but no, I don't wanna,
- 13:05Speaker 1: I don't wanna do that. I don't want to go
- 13:07Speaker 1: and like cable her label and stuff, you know, because I,
- 13:09Speaker 1: I've got a CCTV camera on my door. Hopefully her
- 13:12Speaker 1: soda water door comes with the BCRS logo. Oh, I
- 13:15Speaker 1: have no idea. Anyway, um, these delivery couriers in Singapore,
- 13:19Speaker 1: unfortunately were seen and caught.
- 13:22Speaker 1: Hurling parcels to the ground in frustration, presumably because maybe
- 13:28Speaker 1: they lost something or they were trying to locate a
- 13:30Speaker 1: particular parcel, but um unfortunately, because they're wearing the uniform
- 13:35Speaker 1: that's quite representative of a particular courier service, people identified
- 13:39Speaker 1: it quite quickly. I mean, there are only that many,
- 13:41Speaker 1: the usual suspects when it comes to courier services in Singapore.
- 13:44Speaker 1: I can only hope was fragile. I don't, that's the thing,
- 13:48Speaker 1: so we don't know, um, and this was, you know,
- 13:51Speaker 1: seen and
- 13:52Speaker 1: Seen by, I'm guessing some residents around the area as well.
- 13:56Speaker 1: So it was, it's quite, it's quite frustrating to see
- 13:58Speaker 1: that because I'm worried for my own purchase, right? Especially
- 14:02Speaker 1: if I bought something expensive. It's not the first time
- 14:04Speaker 1: we've seen a case like this and it won't be
- 14:07Speaker 1: the last time as well. Something has got to give here.
- 14:10Speaker 1: I know, but they also seem very overwhelmed. That's the thing.
- 14:13Speaker 1: And it's just two bros, you know, two guys that
- 14:16Speaker 1: desperately probably trying to finish up all the deliveries. So
- 14:19Speaker 1: I feel for them too. Um, they were hurt being
- 14:22Speaker 1: very frustrated, raising their voices, and I understand that it
- 14:25Speaker 1: can be so, look, when I try to look for
- 14:27Speaker 1: something in my house, I also feel like that.
- 14:30Speaker 1: So I understand
- 14:32Speaker 1: Do you actually find it? That's my question. Yeah, I
- 14:35Speaker 1: learned this from Anthony.
- 14:40Speaker 1: OK, Saint Anthony, can you help me find or not? Non-Catholic,
- 14:43Speaker 1: Saint Anthony is the patron saint for lost items.
- 14:48Speaker 1: So sometimes, yes, it's something that I've been told as
- 14:51Speaker 1: a kid as well. When I misplaced my wallet or
- 14:54Speaker 1: house keys, can you imagine a primary school boy crying
- 14:57Speaker 1: for his dear life? I know, I know. Anthony, Anthony, please.
- 15:03Speaker 1: That's my school, right? Anthony's. I still lose things all
- 15:05Speaker 1: the time. But you know what, like I saw a
- 15:08Speaker 1: hilarious video. I saw a hilarious video because this whole
- 15:10Speaker 1: lore of Saint Anthony has like spread to more than
- 15:14Speaker 1: just Catholics and Christians. So like even non-Catholics also.
- 15:18Speaker 1: Some of them know like what that means. So there
- 15:20Speaker 1: was this hilarious TikTok video where um it depicts Saint
- 15:24Speaker 1: Saint Anthony actually like at a desk being extremely busy
- 15:28Speaker 1: and face palming all the time. The moment someone goes like, Sandy,
- 15:31Speaker 1: help me find something, please, and Saint Anthony goes, again.
- 15:35Speaker 1: You lost your phone or your keys again. Can you
- 15:38Speaker 1: imagine one day he calls it quits? You find yourself, yeah,
- 15:41Speaker 1: I don't want but I quit. Um, I saw this
- 15:44Speaker 1: piece of news that in, you know, it reminded me
- 15:46Speaker 1: of my own situation.
- 15:48Speaker 1: Um, just gonna give you a very short summary of
- 15:50Speaker 1: what I saw online, OK? This, um, lady that was
- 15:54Speaker 1: flying from, I think flying back to the US and
- 15:57Speaker 1: it was like a 10-hour flight or something, OK? Um,
- 16:00Speaker 1: she was, she was sat next to this woman that
- 16:03Speaker 1: tried to ask her to switch seats with her husband
- 16:06Speaker 1: because her husband and her did not manage to sit
- 16:08Speaker 1: next to each other, OK?
- 16:09Speaker 1: So the lady sitting next to her said, do you mind?
- 16:11Speaker 1: But I think for this particular lady that, you know,
- 16:15Speaker 1: went quite public with this story, she probably booked that
- 16:18Speaker 1: seat because she wanted maybe the aisle seat or she
- 16:21Speaker 1: wanted it in that specific area, maybe proximity to the restroom.
- 16:24Speaker 1: So
- 16:25Speaker 1: Honestly, seat choosing can be very personal for some people,
- 16:29Speaker 1: for sure. Yeah, and if it's a long flight, I
- 16:32Speaker 1: consider 10 hours pretty long. Anything above like 56 hours
- 16:35Speaker 1: is quite a long flight already, and you want to
- 16:39Speaker 1: be as comfortable as you, you can be, and you
- 16:41Speaker 1: want to sit in the seat that you, you know, selected, right? So, unfortunately,
- 16:46Speaker 1: this person said, no, I, I don't want to we're
- 16:48Speaker 1: so sorry about that. The lady next door had a
- 16:50Speaker 1: meltdown and, you know, was kind of sobbing because she
- 16:54Speaker 1: couldn't sit next to her husband.
- 16:55Speaker 1: Um, granted, I think she found out that this lady
- 16:58Speaker 1: was going through something in life, so she, you know,
- 17:00Speaker 1: felt quite sad. Um, but still, I think, you know,
- 17:04Speaker 1: the whole idea of asking a stranger to switch seats, it,
- 17:08Speaker 1: it may backfire. It may backfire. Could it be a
- 17:11Speaker 1: case of making sure that you check in the moment
- 17:14Speaker 1: the online check-ins open?
- 17:16Speaker 1: What do you mean? I mean, because when you, when
- 17:18Speaker 1: you check in online, right, yeah, they give you the
- 17:21Speaker 1: option to, if you can maybe select your seat and
- 17:23Speaker 1: make sure that everyone is sitting next to each other.
- 17:25Speaker 1: I think the seat selection preferred choice of seat that
- 17:28Speaker 1: you want as well. Seat selection usually happens when you're
- 17:31Speaker 1: booking your ticket, OK, I think, at least that's what
- 17:33Speaker 1: I know and
- 17:35Speaker 1: You only have up until a certain time for you
- 17:37Speaker 1: to still select your seats. If not, they will just
- 17:39Speaker 1: close it off and say you can't select anymore. Does
- 17:41Speaker 1: it say how long the flight? It was 10 hours. Oh, OK,
- 17:44Speaker 1: 10 hours. So it reminded me of my own situation where, OK, granted,
- 17:49Speaker 1: I'm the one that messed up the flight bookings. So
- 17:55Speaker 1: coming back on a Wednesday morning, speaking the truth, um, it,
- 17:58Speaker 1: it was, yeah, unfortunate.
- 18:00Speaker 1: We get to sit next to each other, but I don't,
- 18:02Speaker 1: I don't mind. I mean, it was only what, like
- 18:03Speaker 1: a 4-hour flight. It's not that bad. Besides, we're spending
- 18:07Speaker 1: most of the time like catching up on movies or
- 18:09Speaker 1: like watching shows and eating, so yeah, not, not like
- 18:12Speaker 1: we're really talking or anything, you know. I mean, I,
- 18:15Speaker 1: I honestly find people who talk very loudly in economy
- 18:19Speaker 1: on the plane quite annoying, to be honest. I think
- 18:23Speaker 1: when a loved one or at least for me.
- 18:27Speaker 1: I'll make sure that we are next to each other.
- 18:29Speaker 1: I'll do what we can to secure those seats because, yeah,
- 18:33Speaker 1: I mean just sit next to me. I mean, I
- 18:35Speaker 1: won't talk to you as much as you think I would.
- 18:37Speaker 1: I will watch my in-flight. If you want to sleep
- 18:39Speaker 1: on my shoulder, on my shoulder. It's it's quite important
- 18:43Speaker 1: to you. But when you say important, I don't want
- 18:45Speaker 1: to say like it's a priority or it's a must happen.
- 18:48Speaker 1: It's a preference. It's a bit of a default setting
- 18:51Speaker 1: I guess preference then. Yeah. Give us a call 669-11987.
- 18:56Speaker 1: Are you very particular about that, sitting next to your,
- 18:59Speaker 1: you know, friends or your loved ones during a flight,
- 19:02Speaker 1: no matter how long or short it is? Because honestly,
- 19:05Speaker 1: sometimes when you put a bunch of friends seated together
- 19:07Speaker 1: on my way to Taipei.
- 19:09Speaker 1: Three girls sitting behind me, super noisy, bro, super noisy. Initially,
- 19:14Speaker 1: I just sort of like dismissed it because I'm like, oh,
- 19:17Speaker 1: they must be excited. They're going on a girls trip,
- 19:18Speaker 1: you know, but after a while, I could see other
- 19:21Speaker 1: passengers starting to glare at them cackling. Yeah, it was bad.
- 19:24Speaker 1: It was bad. Give us a call 669-11987. Is it
- 19:28Speaker 1: a must for you to sit with your friends or
- 19:31Speaker 1: your loved ones on a flight? OK, for example, a
- 19:34Speaker 1: very quick one, Sonia, maybe you and Jeremy were supposed
- 19:36Speaker 1: to go somewhere together.
- 19:38Speaker 1: But unfortunately, the both of you can't sit next to
- 19:41Speaker 1: each other. And just your luck right next to you
- 19:44Speaker 1: is this guy or lady with the smelliest smelliest pair
- 19:49Speaker 1: of feet. How smelliest feet ever. Yeah. Honestly, I don't
- 19:53Speaker 1: know what would happen, like, can you flag this up
- 19:56Speaker 1: to someone?
- 19:58Speaker 1: What's the stewardess gonna do? How do you flag it? Anyway,
- 20:02Speaker 1: to answer your question, I actually do bring masks sometimes
- 20:06Speaker 1: on the on the plane. You know how some smells
- 20:08Speaker 1: can penetrate the masks, you know what, that has not
- 20:11Speaker 1: happened to me yet. So here's hoping it never happens.
- 20:15Speaker 1: Give us a call 669-11987 or drop us a WhatsApp
- 20:18Speaker 1: message 90050987. Is it
- 20:21Speaker 1: A must for you to sit with your loved ones
- 20:24Speaker 1: or your friends when you're on a plane. In exchange,
- 20:27Speaker 1: a $100 shopping experience to Little Farms. I'm actually the
- 20:31Speaker 1: one over at Valley Point, and I'm sure most of
- 20:33Speaker 1: their Little Farms outlets now also have the cafe side
- 20:35Speaker 1: to it. So, um, go there and enjoy yourself and
- 20:38Speaker 1: give us a call right now. Phone lines are open,
- 20:40Speaker 1: talking about whether it is a need or a must
- 20:42Speaker 1: for you to sit next to your loved one or
- 20:44Speaker 1: your friend.
- 20:45Speaker 1: during a flight. I was just talking about my experience
- 20:48Speaker 1: going back and forth to Taipei just over the weekend.
- 20:52Speaker 1: Say good morning to Wills on WhatsApp 90050987. Morning, Sojo.
- 20:58Speaker 1: My family includes two children, and we usually do what
- 21:01Speaker 1: Joakim said yesterday. We'll book the two corner seats and
- 21:05Speaker 1: leave the middle empty in the hopes of getting the
- 21:08Speaker 1: whole row.
- 21:08Speaker 1: To ourselves, if we are lucky, great. If not, the
- 21:12Speaker 1: guy in the middle will more often than not gladly
- 21:14Speaker 1: accept changing seats with one of the aisle seats considering it's,
- 21:18Speaker 1: it's an upgrade. To answer your question, yes, we need
- 21:21Speaker 1: to be seated together so we can handle the kids,
- 21:23Speaker 1: especially during meal service. Having two kids would be hectic
- 21:27Speaker 1: if we were separated. Yeah, no, I agree, and also
- 21:30Speaker 1: a thought crossed my mind, right? I mean,
- 21:32Speaker 1: Touch wood on the off chance that some emergency happens,
- 21:36Speaker 1: you would want to be in close proximity to your
- 21:39Speaker 1: loved one. Yeah. So that that was the only thing
- 21:41Speaker 1: that I thought about that would be a priority for me.
- 21:46Speaker 1: One more coming in from Sandosh who says, hey guys,
- 21:49Speaker 1: I don't really bother if I sit with anyone else
- 21:52Speaker 1: unless I'm.
- 21:52Speaker 1: Traveling with my mom. She has some difficulties with English
- 21:55Speaker 1: and is vegetarian. Unless when we fly business class so
- 21:58Speaker 1: that I can sip some alcohol without getting a death stare.
- 22:02Speaker 1: It's a long, uh, it's a long flight. Hello mom.
- 22:05Speaker 1: But yeah, I just wouldn't want her to feel uncomfortable
- 22:07Speaker 1: or alone. So for her, I would. Thanks for sharing. OK,
- 22:11Speaker 1: that's cute. I understand. Um, I did, um, I did
- 22:14Speaker 1: run into a Singaporean family.
- 22:17Speaker 1: Where the, it was a couple with 2 kids, it's
- 22:19Speaker 1: like a young couple with 2 kids, and they actually
- 22:23Speaker 1: said that they had 2 business class tickets and 2
- 22:25Speaker 1: economy tickets. So it's a, it's a game of like
- 22:29Speaker 1: whether the kids are well behaved or not, one of
- 22:31Speaker 1: them will get selected to go sit in business class.
- 22:35Speaker 1: I'm like, wow, I've never had that chance in my life.
- 22:39Speaker 1: Like upgrade. Yeah, real-life upgrade. Anyway, when we come back, uh,
- 22:42Speaker 1: we're heading to the phone lines and more of your messages.
- 22:45Speaker 1: Still time for you to get your stories in, by
- 22:46Speaker 1: the way. You want to share an experience with us
- 22:48Speaker 1: or share your preferences? Is it a must or a
- 22:51Speaker 1: need for you to sit with your loved ones on
- 22:53Speaker 1: a flight? Let us know in exchange 100.
- 22:55Speaker 1: $100 Little Farms experience could be yours. Question for you today,
- 22:59Speaker 1: is it a must for you to sit with your
- 23:01Speaker 1: loved ones on a flight? Got a text coming in
- 23:03Speaker 1: from Ismael. Hello, Ismael. Hey Sojo, I once traveled to
- 23:07Speaker 1: Switzerland with my good friend Nabil, and I didn't mind
- 23:10Speaker 1: sitting alone on the flight. You know why? He was
- 23:13Speaker 1: flying in Qatar Airways Q suite la. Oh.
- 23:17Speaker 1: While I was back in economy as usual. Oh no.
- 23:21Speaker 1: I mean, OK, their Q suite is the equivalent to
- 23:24Speaker 1: like business, they call it Q suites. Yeah, it's, um,
- 23:27Speaker 1: it's very pretty. OK, can I ask, yeah, you and
- 23:30Speaker 1: a good friend of yours going for a trip together, OK, OK,
- 23:33Speaker 1: and a good friend, I hope you don't mind. I
- 23:35Speaker 1: want to fly suits class. Go ahead. I mean, what
- 23:38Speaker 1: can I do?
- 23:40Speaker 1: No, honestly, what can I do? Like, can I afford
- 23:44Speaker 1: to pay for sweets? I mean, you, you won't feel
- 23:46Speaker 1: angry that this is abandoning you for fly in suites
- 23:48Speaker 1: while you're in economy or premium economy. No, no, no,
- 23:55Speaker 1: I don't think I will. Yeah, I mean, I might
- 23:57Speaker 1: be cranky because I definitely am gonna have bad quality
- 24:01Speaker 1: of sleep compared to that friend of mine, but what
- 24:04Speaker 1: you want to do with your money is.
- 24:06Speaker 1: Your own thing. I'm not going to force you to
- 24:08Speaker 1: sit in economy with me. Good, good. One coming in
- 24:11Speaker 1: from SK Morning, Sonia and Joakim. I think the flight
- 24:14Speaker 1: distance matters quite a bit. If it's less than 5 hours,
- 24:17Speaker 1: probably it doesn't matter, but if it's longer, I then
- 24:21Speaker 1: prefer to sit with my traveling partners, especially if you
- 24:24Speaker 1: get the window seat, because it's very troublesome to have
- 24:26Speaker 1: to trouble two other strangers to get up and down
- 24:30Speaker 1: when I need to use the washroom.
- 24:31Speaker 1: Room. Oh, but, but when I do online check-in, I
- 24:34Speaker 1: do see the option of selecting seats from the available
- 24:37Speaker 1: leftover seats sometimes and maybe it depends on the airline. Yeah. Well,
- 24:44Speaker 1: we've got on the line right now. Des, what about you?
- 24:46Speaker 2: It's not exactly
- 24:47Speaker 2: a fun fact, when I book tickets, right, uh, choosing
- 24:53Speaker 2: is kind of like a game of chess to me.
- 24:55Speaker 2: So I have booked.
- 24:56Speaker 2: Two aisle seats for me and my friend so that
- 24:59Speaker 2: we can both have good space with each other and
- 25:01Speaker 2: I have also tried to sometimes, you know, flights with
- 25:04Speaker 2: 3 seats, then me and my wife, we will book
- 25:07Speaker 2: the 2 side seats and leave the middle one opening
- 25:09Speaker 2: the
- 25:09Speaker 1: hack, but it may be a hack, but what if
- 25:15Speaker 1: someone actually books a seat because it's crowded or it's
- 25:19Speaker 1: a full flight, it will backfire.
- 25:22Speaker 1: Yes,
- 25:23Speaker 2: that's why I say it's a game of strategy. Sometimes,
- 25:26Speaker 2: if it's a red-eye flight and it's, uh, you know,
- 25:28Speaker 2: it's not in those peak seasons, that's where we will
- 25:32Speaker 2: play this trick. If it's, we know that high chances,
- 25:35Speaker 2: then we will not
- 25:36Speaker 2: take that risk. So
- 25:37Speaker 1: what was the longest flight you've been on that you
- 25:39Speaker 1: were seated apart from your partner?
- 25:43Speaker 2: Longest flight, uh, it should be our Perth flight, uh.
- 25:48Speaker 2: About 67
- 25:49Speaker 1: hours. Yeah, that's not so long flying to Perth. What happened?
- 25:52Speaker 1: How come you didn't get to sit with each other?
- 25:54Speaker 2: It was a choice of elderlies lah. So, so basically
- 25:59Speaker 2: we had to split ourselves up so that the other
- 26:03Speaker 2: elderlies in our group.
- 26:04Speaker 2: Tour group, uh, not, not, not elderly that we know
- 26:07Speaker 2: not families that we have to set ourselves up to,
- 26:09Speaker 2: to let the elderly sit together. Oh,
- 26:12Speaker 1: I see. That's nice of you. May good karma always
- 26:15Speaker 1: find you in your wife's way, the center seat always
- 26:18Speaker 1: be empty for you. Talking about whether or not it's
- 26:21Speaker 1: a must for you to sit with your loved ones
- 26:23Speaker 1: on a flight.
- 26:25Speaker 1: And we're heading back to our messages now. When you
- 26:27Speaker 1: make it sound like that, it's a must for me
- 26:31Speaker 1: at least. I want to say good morning to Q.
- 26:33Speaker 1: Q says morning Sojo.
- 26:35Speaker 1: I'm OK to not sit together unless I'm traveling with
- 26:38Speaker 1: someone who needs help. In this case, when I'm traveling
- 26:41Speaker 1: with my parents, grandparents, because it could be a language
- 26:44Speaker 1: barrier or restricted movements, or when it is a long flight,
- 26:48Speaker 1: need people to take care of belongings when you go
- 26:50Speaker 1: stretch your legs, etc. and if there are specific seats,
- 26:53Speaker 1: it is also our own responsibility to ensure we indicate
- 26:57Speaker 1: the seat selection in the booking.
- 26:59Speaker 1: Because if you have paid extra for it, technically, you
- 27:02Speaker 1: have the right to reject a swap request as well.
- 27:06Speaker 1: I think a lot of people don't.
- 27:10Speaker 1: There is a reason why I picked the aisle seat,
- 27:13Speaker 1: for example, you know. OK, this one is quite relatable.
- 27:16Speaker 1: I want to say good morning to TF. Hey Sonia
- 27:18Speaker 1: and Joakim, to me it is important to sit with
- 27:20Speaker 1: friends and loved ones on the plane. The first reason
- 27:23Speaker 1: is comfort level when sitting beside someone that you know.
- 27:27Speaker 1: Personal space, yeah. Sitting with a stranger sometimes can be.
- 27:30Speaker 1: because you do not know whether he or she will snore,
- 27:34Speaker 1: especially during the night flight. Sometimes a stranger that you
- 27:38Speaker 1: sit with is not feeling well and will be coughing
- 27:40Speaker 1: throughout the entire flight. It will also cause discomfort to me.
- 27:44Speaker 1: You know what, just make sure that you bring earplugs
- 27:47Speaker 1: or request for earplugs and um the eye shades just
- 27:51Speaker 1: in case. OK, will the earplugs really work against a
- 27:54Speaker 1: loud snorer.
- 27:57Speaker 1: Loud snorer, maybe not, but I do have like sleep
- 27:59Speaker 1: earplugs that are actually quite effective, and I can't sleep
- 28:03Speaker 1: without them like on a plane, especially if it's a
- 28:05Speaker 1: red eye flight, um, because I, I need like total
- 28:08Speaker 1: darkness and silence when I sleep. So that's why I
- 28:11Speaker 1: bring the earplugs and the eye shades with me at
- 28:14Speaker 1: all times. Yeah, you. OK. One more coming in from
- 28:16Speaker 1: EQ Morning guys. I usually travel alone for work, so
- 28:19Speaker 1: I'm fine, but if I'm traveling with family for holidays,
- 28:24Speaker 1: then I'll prefer to sit with them.
- 28:25Speaker 1: As my wife always has problems traveling on the plane.
- 28:29Speaker 1: She has vertigo. Oh, so she will feel nauseous, so
- 28:32Speaker 1: we don't really fly more than 7 hours for trips. OK, alright. Yeah,
- 28:37Speaker 1: I mean that's a very valid valid. When we come back,
- 28:40Speaker 1: more of your stories. Still not over. I think we've
- 28:42Speaker 1: got plenty of stories coming through right now. Is it
- 28:45Speaker 1: a must for you to sit next to your loved
- 28:47Speaker 1: one on a flight? plenty of stories coming through. I
- 28:50Speaker 1: think we've got some tea spillage right now.
- 28:52Speaker 1: Talking about whether it's a must for you to sit
- 28:55Speaker 1: next to your loved ones on a flight. OK, I
- 28:56Speaker 1: read the lukewarm tea first. OK? OK, OK. One text
- 29:00Speaker 1: coming in from Winston. Winston says, Morning, soldier. If I'm
- 29:03Speaker 1: still single, I would choose to sit separately, praying hard
- 29:07Speaker 1: that I get some chill passenger beside me. Of course,
- 29:11Speaker 1: you can try this joki.
- 29:14Speaker 1: I don't think I've ever, even when I was single,
- 29:18Speaker 1: I don't think I've ever had the opportunity to sit
- 29:21Speaker 1: next to someone cute before. Yeah, I've never have. Have
- 29:26Speaker 1: I ever noticed someone cute on a plane?
- 29:29Speaker 1: I don't think so. I'm quite in my own. I'm quite,
- 29:31Speaker 1: I keep to myself a lot on my flights, yeah,
- 29:34Speaker 1: especially if I'm traveling alone. OK. This one is the
- 29:37Speaker 1: piping hot tea. I'm ready. I'm set. Hey Sonia and Joakim,
- 29:42Speaker 1: no to sitting with my husband on a flight, please.
- 29:46Speaker 1: Hear me out. OK. He snores once he's sitting down.
- 29:50Speaker 1: How somebody falls asleep so quickly is truly a talent,
- 29:53Speaker 1: and he likes to do the men's spread, and I
- 29:56Speaker 1: don't want to wake him to go to the toilet either.
- 29:58Speaker 1: I love my husband, but economy is squeezy enough. I
- 30:02Speaker 1: told him for the sake of our relationship and other passengers, please,
- 30:06Speaker 1: let's just both sit on the aisle seats and let's
- 30:08Speaker 1: spend time after we have landed.
- 30:11Speaker 1: Yeah, um, that's completely piping hot tea, very honest. Does
- 30:17Speaker 1: your husband know you spilled tea about him on 987.
- 30:19Speaker 1: Either that or you make him get you a business
- 30:21Speaker 1: ticket next time just for the personal space. That's the compromise,
- 30:24Speaker 1: is it? That's the compromise. Yeah, yeah, yeah. See, uh, strategy,
- 30:28Speaker 1: you know what, with a message like this, I think
- 30:30Speaker 1: today's winner give it to Shaw. OK, congratulations.
- 30:35Speaker 1: Honesty, cracked us up, really made us laugh, and it
- 30:38Speaker 1: is so relatable. Honestly, very, very relatable. Um, regardless of
- 30:42Speaker 1: where you're seated on a flight, I pray for you, OK,
- 30:45Speaker 1: that the flight gods are in your favor. They don't
- 30:48Speaker 1: put a crying, screaming baby with you, um.
- 30:51Speaker 1: You don't get someone that smells bad or snores loudly. Yeah,
- 30:55Speaker 1: I think these are the three things that will ruin
- 30:57Speaker 1: your flight. This is not a sponsor, right? I want
- 31:00Speaker 1: to say the AirPods Max. Oh, noise canceling, yeah. It's
- 31:05Speaker 1: a game changer. Oh no, 100%, 100%. And you can
- 31:08Speaker 1: connect it to the system. So let's see what happens
- 31:12Speaker 1: with the SQ in-flight next year when they upgrade everything.
- 31:15Speaker 1: You can connect everything now. Yeah, if I'm not wrong, sometime.
- 31:19Speaker 1: In November, they probably will announce even more things. I
- 31:23Speaker 1: think they've already started announcing things like they changed the
- 31:26Speaker 1: menu and things like that, right? If I'm not wrong. So,
- 31:29Speaker 1: what's coming your way? A very nice dining voucher. All
- 31:32Speaker 1: thanks to our friends over at Little Farms. It's worth $100.
- 31:36Speaker 1: You can either go there and shop or enjoy what
- 31:39Speaker 1: they have curated for you for the month of November.
- 31:42Speaker 1: The Italian dinner at Little Farms table, Tanglin Mall, 6th.
- 31:46Speaker 1: November priced at $88 plus per pack. And you know
- 31:50Speaker 1: for sure that with Little Farms, it's gonna be really
- 31:53Speaker 1: great produce there, fresh, delicious, you know, they've got also
- 31:56Speaker 1: like a lot of organic stuff there too, if you're
- 31:59Speaker 1: conscious of that. So please do follow them as well,
- 32:02Speaker 1: Little Farms on Instagram. And um earlier on, I was
- 32:06Speaker 1: saying we have worked with this guy before. He's officially
- 32:10Speaker 1: opening a restaurant. Let's go. It's time for some food news.
- 32:14Speaker 1: 123, food news, food news. Sonia with the good food news.
- 32:20Speaker 1: Who's opening what this time? So we worked together with him,
- 32:24Speaker 1: we filmed with him and I never ate luro fun
- 32:27Speaker 1: again because of him. Zamat Neo. Oh wow, OK, it's
- 32:31Speaker 1: still pinned to 987 TikTok. I know, I know. So
- 32:34Speaker 1: it's so funny because um it's not his fault, obviously,
- 32:36Speaker 1: but you know we're not competitive eaters, so we were
- 32:39Speaker 1: just doing it for fun for like some video.
- 32:41Speaker 1: And um I ate almost 3 bowls of Lurofan, which
- 32:44Speaker 1: I considered quite a lot already. It's very filling. In fact,
- 32:48Speaker 1: I ate more than joking. I ate 1, OK. I
- 32:50Speaker 1: was very disappointed. I was very disappointed. I ate 3.
- 32:54Speaker 1: I had my father's dinner after that, dude, but it's
- 32:57Speaker 1: a competition. It's the same day as my dad's retirement
- 33:00Speaker 1: if you remember. Was it? Was it the same day?
- 33:04Speaker 1: My dad's last show? Yeah, but it was a complicated regardless,
- 33:07Speaker 1: it's a competition.
- 33:08Speaker 1: You need to lock in, bro. Hang on. OK. Uh,
- 33:11Speaker 1: I can say this now. It's a competition I did
- 33:14Speaker 1: not sign up for. OK, I don't know who put
- 33:17Speaker 1: my name down. I have to go and eat. OK, look,
- 33:19Speaker 1: here's the thing, um, whether or not we didn't, we
- 33:21Speaker 1: signed or we didn't sign up for it, like we
- 33:23Speaker 1: were still in it. Yeah. So next time we lock in, OK? OK,
- 33:26Speaker 1: next time I just don't know whether I can have
- 33:28Speaker 1: it in me anymore, but.
- 33:30Speaker 1: Um, over the weekend, I had my first bowl of
- 33:33Speaker 1: Lurofan for the first time after that incident because Taiwan,
- 33:36Speaker 1: you have, you have to have it. Anyway, um, so Matt,
- 33:39Speaker 1: bless him. I don't know how he does this and
- 33:42Speaker 1: still remains so fit. Ran into him during the F1 period. Um,
- 33:46Speaker 1: he was walking around and he still looks shredded as ever,
- 33:49Speaker 1: so I don't really know how he does that, but
- 33:50Speaker 1: he's collaborating with actually one of my favorite places to
- 33:54Speaker 1: order from during festive time.
- 33:56Speaker 1: Jat Barbecue. I don't know if you've ever heard. He's
- 33:59Speaker 1: actually really famous for his barbecue ribs and everything, and, um,
- 34:03Speaker 1: Jack himself has opened up a lot of stores, stalls
- 34:08Speaker 1: at like food festivals and things like that. Oh yeah,
- 34:10Speaker 1: so you must have seen him. I was told to
- 34:12Speaker 1: try out barbecue so good. Gastro Beats, I think they
- 34:17Speaker 1: had a store over there, but it was closed on
- 34:19Speaker 1: that day I was live streaming for 987 TT. OK, no,
- 34:22Speaker 1: he's really, really good and
- 34:24Speaker 1: Um, you can follow him on social media as well.
- 34:26Speaker 1: They do deliveries too. I'm not paid to say this.
- 34:29Speaker 1: I'm an actual customer like, and I ordered it for
- 34:31Speaker 1: like several family gatherings before. So, Zomat has collaborated with
- 34:36Speaker 1: Jet Barbecue and to open up, um, a wonderful new
- 34:41Speaker 1: burger joint, I would say.
- 34:43Speaker 1: They have a massive giant burger that is $469. I
- 34:48Speaker 1: guess this one is signature to him because it's a met.
- 34:51Speaker 1: You have to have a massive burger. That's the kind
- 34:53Speaker 1: of burger where you bring 5 and 5, 1010. I
- 34:59Speaker 1: think you might need 10 friends. It's huge. Um, this
- 35:02Speaker 1: first restaurant ever of his is called Over, opening today
- 35:05Speaker 1: actually at Trust Streets, and he is, of course, well
- 35:09Speaker 1: known for all his food challenges.
- 35:10Speaker 1: Um, and it will serve both local and Western comfort food.
- 35:15Speaker 1: As you can tell, burgers are definitely a thing, and
- 35:18Speaker 1: Zamat Neo inspired servings as well. I'm sure there's a
- 35:22Speaker 1: competition to be over there. If you can finish the burger,
- 35:25Speaker 1: you get something for free or something like that. Yeah.
- 35:28Speaker 1: Other things that you can look forward to a pork
- 35:30Speaker 1: belly dish with crispy chili crunch. There's a dish that
- 35:34Speaker 1: he says he really likes. Curry me over is a
- 35:36Speaker 1: crispy chicken cutlet with the
- 35:38Speaker 1: Rice, Hainanese curry, and egg mayo, oh, looks so good, dude.
- 35:43Speaker 1: I'm ready. I'm ready. Hey, you know what, dining options
- 35:47Speaker 1: for our friends over at Trust, the Tanjung Paga. Yeah,
- 35:49Speaker 1: please do it. And one fun fact here, you see
- 35:52Speaker 1: Zermat eat so much, right? His parents are actually vegetarian.
- 35:56Speaker 1: Fun fact. What a, what a contrast. That is plot
- 35:59Speaker 1: twist of the century. So he will include some vegetarian
- 36:03Speaker 1: options as well, inspired by his own family. So definitely
- 36:07Speaker 1: check it out. If it's a collab with Jet Barbecue,
- 36:09Speaker 1: they definitely know what they're doing.
- 36:11Speaker 1: Um, opening today, 54 Trust Street. Please enjoy. OK, this
- 36:15Speaker 1: one I'm not too sure how to feel about it.
- 36:17Speaker 1: It's the halftime show. Some people are saying nobody wanted. Oh,
- 36:21Speaker 1: Jay-Z next year. Oh, wow, interesting. Yeah, random pick, right?
- 36:25Speaker 1: Very random. I was thinking maybe Taylor Swift about time.
- 36:29Speaker 1: Very random. Who else would I have thought would take
- 36:32Speaker 1: the halftime show? Olivia Rodrigo, but I feel that maybe
- 36:36Speaker 1: it's still a little bit too early in her career
- 36:38Speaker 1: for it. Dua Lipa.
- 36:40Speaker 1: She's due one. Honestly, I think she'll put on a really,
- 36:43Speaker 1: really good halftime show. So if this year was Bad
- 36:46Speaker 1: Bunny for the Hispanics and people from Puerto Rico, I
- 36:49Speaker 1: guess next year is for fans of hip hop. Oh yeah, Jay-Z.
- 36:53Speaker 1: So I wonder who he'll bring out. Will he bring
- 36:54Speaker 1: out Beyonce? I mean, I hope that he will. He, well,
- 36:58Speaker 1: one thing's for sure that I will.
- 36:59Speaker 1: Gift Jay-Z is he had pretty sick collaborations over the
- 37:03Speaker 1: course of his career. Yeah, and he produced quite a
- 37:06Speaker 1: lot of, you know, great songs. Will he bring out
- 37:09Speaker 1: Kanye West? That's my question. That would be interesting to
- 37:13Speaker 1: do that in Paris. I can't say the title but
- 37:16Speaker 1: you know what I mean. How would they modify that though?
- 37:19Speaker 1: For TV airing, I don't know. Two men modify? That's
- 37:24Speaker 1: a hard song to sing on, on, on TV. If you,
- 37:28Speaker 1: if you think about it, it's just the song title.
- 37:31Speaker 1: The song is still OK. The song itself has other
- 37:33Speaker 1: words they have to replace a way. Oh, interesting. When
- 37:38Speaker 1: we come back though, dictionary.com's word of the year. Oh yes,
- 37:42Speaker 1: oh yes.
- 37:43Speaker 1: OK, I can only try to guess what it is.
- 37:46Speaker 1: I'll give you my guesses in a while. Are you
- 37:48Speaker 1: ready for 2026 dictionary.com's word of the year. OK, can
- 37:55Speaker 1: I give you a few that I thought would have
- 37:57Speaker 1: made the cut? First one, Chopped, actually not too bad.
- 38:02Speaker 1: I thought Chopped would have been one of the options. Uh, Unc.
- 38:05Speaker 1: Oh yeah, I thought would have made it or maybe
- 38:07Speaker 1: even Odyssey.
- 38:08Speaker 1: Oh, perhaps, but no, not, not as widely used as Chopped.
- 38:12Speaker 1: This one not really more words a phrase data center. OK, OK, yes.
- 38:18Speaker 1: But the word that made it to dictionary.com's word of
- 38:22Speaker 1: the year is maxing. OK. Oh yeah, we have thought
- 38:27Speaker 1: about that, maxing.
- 38:29Speaker 1: Everything comes with maxing nowadays. Alright, so maxing, according to dictionary.com,
- 38:34Speaker 1: is getting the most out of something, pursuing an activity
- 38:38Speaker 1: to the fullest or optimizing a specific aspect of your life.
- 38:42Speaker 1: It can stand alone as a verb or act as
- 38:45Speaker 1: a suffix combined with other words. For example, looks maxing.
- 38:49Speaker 1: I think that was like one of the first ones, right,
- 38:51Speaker 1: that came out. Sleep maxing.
- 38:54Speaker 1: Gesture maxing token maxing heart maxing, wow, OK. You can
- 39:02Speaker 1: put it, you can attach it to anything. I mean
- 39:04Speaker 1: if last year was 67, the bar isn't that high
- 39:08Speaker 1: low the bar is pretty low.
- 39:11Speaker 1: So what are we? 987. We are radio maxing, is it?
- 39:15Speaker 1: Can I, can I, can I say need to be
- 39:17Speaker 1: sleep maxing, Joe. I think that is the one thing
- 39:19Speaker 1: that both of us need to do. Not happening. It's
- 39:22Speaker 1: so hard. It's so hard. Our sleep cycle has changed
- 39:25Speaker 1: drastically since the year 2022. That and, and you know,
- 39:29Speaker 1: because I messed up my body clock, my, my weekday
- 39:33Speaker 1: body clock when I was traveling because when you're traveling.
- 39:35Speaker 1: I mean, I'm not going to sleep at like 9:30, right? No. Yeah,
- 39:39Speaker 1: and we're going out most of the time, so you
- 39:41Speaker 1: can imagine the past two nights I've been having trouble
- 39:43Speaker 1: sleeping anything before 11 p.m. Fair enough. So I'm hoping
- 39:48Speaker 1: that it fixes back. I had too much fun over
- 39:50Speaker 1: the weekend. So there we go. Congratulations to Maxing. Yeah,
- 39:54Speaker 1: that's right. Yeah, and you'll be fitness maxing for your
- 39:57Speaker 1: marathon in a marathon.
- 40:00Speaker 1: I was gonna say, so for example, if dictionary.com recognizes
- 40:04Speaker 1: the word maxing, right, and if I'm an O-level or
- 40:07Speaker 1: PSLE student, if you use it in your, is it,
- 40:09Speaker 1: will I get minus points or what? No, right, because it's,
- 40:12Speaker 1: it's there. I'm curious, um, every time they announce word
- 40:15Speaker 1: of the year, is it, is it actually included in
- 40:19Speaker 1: the actual dictionary or do they have a special segment
- 40:22Speaker 1: for that is just for trends?
- 40:24Speaker 1: Subsequent copies, they will release. Oh, let's include 2026 word
- 40:29Speaker 1: of the year into our 2027 edition. That's what I
- 40:31Speaker 1: mean by like they maybe they have a special section
- 40:34Speaker 1: or a segment that's not actually in the dictionary, because
- 40:37Speaker 1: technically it's a lot of these word of the year,
- 40:40Speaker 1: it's not really grammatically correct. Then what's the point of
- 40:44Speaker 1: calling it the word of the year a dictionary? It
- 40:47Speaker 1: just means, I guess the most.
- 40:49Speaker 1: used word that was created that year. OK, but this
- 40:52Speaker 1: has kind of opened doors for people to write mixing
- 40:55Speaker 1: in their compost, and if their teacher minus points like, but,
- 40:59Speaker 1: you see dictionary.com. That's a. That's a good question. I
- 41:03Speaker 1: hope someone can answer that for us. We'll find out
- 41:05Speaker 1: next year. Anyone, anyone can answer. Carly Rae Jepsen, Love
- 41:09Speaker 1: Depressed right here on 987, Singapore's number one hit music station.
- 41:13Speaker 1: She's come a long way from uh last Friday night, Joki.
- 41:17Speaker 1: That and also last Friday night. Hey, sorry, I'm sorry,
- 41:21Speaker 1: that's not her. Call Me Maybe was her. Who was that? Oh,
- 41:25Speaker 1: Rebecca Black is last Friday night, right? No, that's Katy Perry.
- 41:28Speaker 1: What am I doing Friday? And Katy Perry Perry Friday night.
- 41:34Speaker 1: My brain is not braining. I'm sorry, not braining. It's
- 41:37Speaker 1: OK when you find out that millennials, what was it
- 41:39Speaker 1: you told me earlier, yeah, yeah, earlier on, I saw
- 41:42Speaker 1: this post and I was like, Joe, here's something to
- 41:43Speaker 1: make you feel old. Um, as of the end of
- 41:46Speaker 1: this year, there will be no more millennials below the
- 41:49Speaker 1: age of 30.
- 41:51Speaker 1: The tragedy. Right. How crazy is that? If you think
- 41:55Speaker 1: about it, everyone in 987 is above 30.
- 42:00Speaker 1: Minus Georgina. I'm sorry, yes, I'm talking about the full-time
- 42:04Speaker 1: lineup lineup. Of course, it's minus Georgina. Wow. Yeah, and
- 42:09Speaker 1: Lex and I hate to say this, I'm now the
- 42:12Speaker 1: oldest here on 987. Yes. Hey man, I mean, you know,
- 42:17Speaker 1: it happens. I guess we now know how our predecessors. Hey,
- 42:21Speaker 1: but how does it feel knowing that
- 42:23Speaker 1: Our generation is the last generation to be raised without
- 42:27Speaker 1: the internet and with the internet and then we embraced
- 42:30Speaker 1: the internet. I think that's why we're the best. Because
- 42:34Speaker 1: we have, we had both, we experienced both. Like there's
- 42:37Speaker 1: a big portion of what Gen Xers and boomers, right,
- 42:40Speaker 1: they call them, um, that live most of their life
- 42:43Speaker 1: without internet and the first sign of internet was.
- 42:46Speaker 1: I don't know, man. I feel that whoever lived in
- 42:50Speaker 1: the 60s and 70s, really peak, peak festivals, and just
- 42:55Speaker 1: peak culture. Actually, the one thing that I would have
- 42:58Speaker 1: liked to experience is, you know, attending like all kinds
- 43:02Speaker 1: of parties and festivals without social media. Yeah, because now
- 43:06Speaker 1: it's like we are so extra careful of everything, especially
- 43:09Speaker 1: if you're in a
- 43:10Speaker 1: Job opposition that, you know, might be threatened if anything
- 43:13Speaker 1: bad gets out there that sometimes you overthink it and
- 43:15Speaker 1: you don't exactly let loose. I know that we did
- 43:19Speaker 1: not experience but our parents did.
