Ep. 336 - Are You Really Bearing Fruit for God or Just Busy? · The Living Waters Podcast

• 1:04
Speaker 1: I know all the things that you're doing.
• 1:05
  Speaker 1: I know this.
• 1:06
Speaker 1: I see all that is going on right.
• 1:08
Speaker 1: I know your works.
• 1:09
Speaker 1: You have the reputation of being alive, but you are dead.
• 1:14
  Speaker 1: You're immortal.
• 1:16
Speaker 1: Right, reputation is very important to us and we think that our reputation is by all the things that we are getting done and getting accomplished.
• 1:27
Speaker 1: When somebody says how are you doing, we tend to say all the things that we are getting done and getting accomplished.
• 1:30
Speaker 1: When somebody says, how are you doing, we tend to say all the things that we have been doing.
• 1:31
Speaker 1: Yeah, it's almost like they ask us what are you doing?
• 1:34
Speaker 1: I remember EZ did this to me.
• 1:36
Speaker 1: He corrected me one time several years ago.
• 1:38
Speaker 1: He asked me how are you doing?
• 1:39
Speaker 1: And I told him what I was doing and, ez, you responded I don't know if you remember this.
• 1:43
Speaker 1: Your response back was oh, I'm sorry.
• 1:45
Speaker 1: I think you misunderstood the question.
• 1:46
Speaker 1: I didn't ask you what you were doing.
• 1:48
Speaker 1: I asked how you were doing.
• 1:49
Speaker 1: And that's a good pause, that's a good question and it's a good rebuke all in the same, because we think that our busyness is attributed to godliness and that isn't always necessarily the case.
• 2:09
Speaker 2: In the famous words of that legendary theologian, MC Hammer, we need to pray just to make it a day.
• 2:19
Speaker 2: I said pray, Oscar, do you remember MC Hammer?
• 2:22
  Speaker 2: I do.
• 2:24
Speaker 4: Absolutely, hammer nailed it.
• 2:25
  Speaker 2: What Hammer nailed?
• 2:26
Speaker 2: It yeah, hammer time.
• 2:27
Speaker 2: Hammer time with his pants.
• 2:27
Speaker 2: Well, it yeah, hammer time With his pants.
• 2:29
Speaker 2: Well, mark, do you remember his most?
• 2:30
  Speaker 1: famous song.
• 2:31
Speaker 1: In fact, as you were saying the famous words, I said it in my head.
• 2:35
Speaker 1: He's going to say MC Hammer, you did not, I did.
• 2:38
Speaker 2: Okay, because I've probably done it before.
• 2:39
Speaker 2: Mark, do you remember his most famous song?
• 2:42
  Speaker 2: I don't, da-na-na-na, da-na-na, da-na, can't touch this.
• 2:47
  Speaker 2: Da-na-na, that's right.
• 2:47
  Speaker 2: Come on guys.
• 2:48
Speaker 2: That was like up there with the Ice, ice, baby.
• 2:50
Speaker 2: Da-na-na-na Ray, do you remember these songs?
• 2:57
  Speaker 4: The Beatles.
• 2:58
Speaker 3: That's about it, yeah.
• 3:07
Speaker 2: Vanilla Ice is the Beatles of bankrupt, though.
• 3:08
Speaker 2: Weren't they Not him, I don't think, but MC Hammer.
• 3:11
Speaker 4: It's amazing how many guys became millionaires and blew it?
• 3:13
Speaker 4: Just as the proverb says riches have the wings of a horse.
• 3:17
Speaker 4: Man, mark, I would.
• 3:19
  Speaker 2: Wait what?
• 3:20
Speaker 2: What I was thinking of Oscar's going to be awake because Oscar thinks cows give eggs.
• 3:24
Speaker 3: Oh yeah, I used to think that oh yeah, mark, I would give like 35 cents.
• 3:31
Speaker 2: with your long legs to see you in those MC Hammer pants.
• 3:34
Speaker 2: Did you ever wear those?
• 3:35
Speaker 2: I can make it happen.
• 3:36
Speaker 1: Okay, so I worked at a department store called Miller's Outpost and we used to sell them.
• 3:40
Speaker 1: Yeah, no, oh, did you there?
• 3:42
Speaker 1: Yeah, I remember that they got down to like 13 cents because we just couldn't get rid of them on the clearance rack, and I remember putting them on and then just those things were disgusting.
• 3:52
Speaker 3: Eddie Roman has a picture of himself riding a bike in MC Hammer pants in his office.
• 3:57
Speaker 3: Have you ever noticed that?
• 3:58
Speaker 3: Yeah, was he in MC Hammer pants.
• 3:59
  Speaker 3: They look like.
• 4:00
Speaker 2: MC Hammer pants to me.
• 4:01
Speaker 2: You know where I think he got those from.
• 4:03
Speaker 2: In Lebanon there's this religious group called the Druze, and the men wear those MC Hammer pants.
• 4:10
Speaker 2: It was like the genie in Aladdin no because they had a prophecy that one day a man would give birth to a child, so they would wear these big pants In case he gave birth to the child he'd catch it.
• 4:18
  Speaker 4: Is this serious?
• 4:19
  Speaker 4: Seriously, that's awesome.
• 4:21
  Speaker 2: Yeah.
• 4:22
Speaker 2: Anyway, the whole reason I brought all that up is because recently I was in prayer and in the middle of prayer I remembered something really, really important that I had to tell Tanny Mark's son.
• 4:34
Speaker 2: So I called Tanny and when Tanny answered the Lord I said hey, father.
• 4:41
Speaker 1: Call no one Father.
• 4:43
Speaker 2: I called him Father because I was in prayer mode.
• 4:45
Speaker 2: Hey, father, and we both just cracked up.
• 4:49
Speaker 2: I'm cute, um sometimes.
• 4:51
Speaker 2: Have you guys ever done this where you've called your wife lord accidentally?
• 4:55
Speaker 4: I call my dog rachel sometimes this morning accidentally yeah I'm sorry, you call lucy rachel yeah, yeah, it's just, she's on my mind and wow yeah, yeah, but I have called r Rachel Lord a few times.
• 5:07
  Speaker 4: Really.
• 5:07
Speaker 2: Which is unbiblical because Sarah called Abraham Lord.
• 5:10
Speaker 4: Yeah, I try to get Sue to do that.
• 5:12
Speaker 4: Call me Lord, and say call me Lord.
• 5:16
Speaker 2: You guys ever get distracted, speaking of prayer, by people's pattern in prayer.
• 5:22
Speaker 3: Oh yeah, Like when you keep saying Father God, Father God, Father God, Lord, Lord, Lord, Lord.
• 5:26
Speaker 3: I know somebody that used to always say Father God, Lord after every sentence.
• 5:30
Speaker 2: And I hate that I'm distracted.
• 5:31
Speaker 2: I don't want to be but you pick up on the pattern You're like.
• 5:35
Speaker 4: No, and it's like a love measure and you haven't got any love yeah.
• 5:38
  Speaker 2: It's like oh.
• 5:40
Speaker 4: The thing to do when that happens is to say stop it.
• 5:42
  Speaker 2: Yeah.
• 5:45
Speaker 3: Hey, can you knock that off please?
• 5:46
Speaker 3: I was on a board for a school and we were just about to pray and this big old football player I'd never heard this before he starts his prayer, he goes.
• 5:55
  Speaker 3: Hey Daddy.
• 5:57
Speaker 2: I was like wait what.
• 5:58
  Speaker 3: Yeah.
• 6:01
Speaker 4: If he hadn't been so big, he might have said what's that about?
• 6:03
  Speaker 4: Sorry?
• 6:04
  Speaker 2: what?
• 6:04
Speaker 2: Yeah, Ray, was it you that said you can always tell which church a person goes to by the way they pray or who their pastor?
• 6:11
Speaker 4: is by the way they pray.
• 6:12
Speaker 4: Yes, you can tell who their pastor is by the way they pray.
• 6:14
Speaker 2: Because they emulate the way their pastor prays.
• 6:15
Speaker 4: Emulate the pastor, yeah, wow, yeah there's a guy named John Steele who's a great pastor in our church.
• 6:21
Speaker 4: I was in an inter-church meeting and anyone that prayed Father, I thought he goes to John Steele's church.
• 6:28
Speaker 2: Remember that the pastor, pastor Barton, hallelujah, hallelujah.
• 6:33
Speaker 2: I wonder if his people would say hallelujah, I wouldn't be surprised.
• 6:35
  Speaker 2: Hallelujah, hallelujah.
• 6:37
Speaker 2: I remember that we went to his church.
• 6:40
Speaker 2: They kept saying hallelujah.
• 6:41
Speaker 4: You imitate my accent sometimes.
• 6:43
Speaker 2: Hallelujah, but my goal in life is still to figure out this mystery.
• 6:50
Speaker 2: I want to know because again it's all emulation who was the first preacher to incorporate the uh.
• 6:57
Speaker 2: We need the Lord, we need to seek the Lord.
• 7:01
Speaker 4: And when I seek the Lord the other day, Once you start hearing that, you can't hear anything they're saying.
• 7:08
Speaker 2: It makes me mad yes, righteous indignation yes, hear anything they're saying.
• 7:12
Speaker 4: It makes me mad.
• 7:12
  Speaker 4: Yes, righteous indignation.
• 7:13
Speaker 4: Yes, all right, friends, it might be a.
• 7:14
Speaker 4: Who is Spurgeon Could be, then it's cool.
• 7:17
Speaker 3: Then I'm going to start doing it all of a sudden, spurgeon Nice to meet you.
• 7:22
  Speaker 2: It's so dumb.
• 7:24
Speaker 4: All right, friends, it could be a physical condition where they've got a stomachache and then people just started emulating it.
• 7:29
Speaker 2: Yeah, time for a cool, classy comment.
• 7:33
Speaker 2: This is from Fomolo Chilioeni.
• 7:37
Speaker 2: I'm sorry, I know I probably botched that, the Russian Fomolo Chilioeni.
• 7:43
  Speaker 2: It's just Bill.
• 7:44
  Speaker 2: Yeah, poor Bill.
• 7:46
Speaker 2: How this podcast has improved my relationship with God.
• 7:49
Speaker 2: Hi guys, my name is Falomo Chiliani.
• 7:53
Speaker 4: He got it right.
• 7:53
Speaker 2: Yeah, he figured it out.
• 7:55
Speaker 2: I'm 14 years old and from South Africa, and I really love your podcast.
• 8:00
Speaker 2: I'm usually shy and I struggle with panic attacks, but God is helping me get through it Every day.
• 8:05
Speaker 2: He strengthens my faith and he reveals and helps me improve my weaknesses.
• 8:09
Speaker 2: I listen to your podcast when I play video games.
• 8:14
Speaker 2: It's been so helpful because it has helped me to learn more about God and drawing near to him.
• 8:16
Speaker 2: I also love your channel and Mr Comfort's hairstyle.
• 8:20
Speaker 1: What you said, nobody ever.
• 8:22
  Speaker 2: Oscar look.
• 8:23
Speaker 2: With a heart after it and Mr Comfort's hairstyle.
• 8:26
Speaker 2: You added that I did not.
• 8:28
  Speaker 2: Yes, Marcus.
• 8:28
  Speaker 4: Last hairstyle.
• 8:28
Speaker 4: You added that I did not.
• 8:29
Speaker 2: Yes, last day I did not anyway, thank you so much and god bless you well, there's a first for everything I wish you could have seen your hair after we filmed that uh fighting episode.
• 8:40
Speaker 2: Oh, that was funny yeah, that was amazing, the whole crew was trying to fix it because we had to film something else, that was one of the most laughter I'd ever done.
• 8:50
  Speaker 4: Well, what happened?
• 8:50
Speaker 4: We were filming until about 3 o'clock in the morning.
• 8:52
Speaker 4: I had a war helmet on for about six hours and when I took it off, my hair was just flat and no one could resurrect it.
• 9:00
Speaker 4: It doesn't matter what you said to it Come forth, it wouldn't come forth.
• 9:03
Speaker 1: Oh man, I remember, I remember, and I just lost it because we kept trying to fix it and Ray's just standing there and it would not come right, no matter what we did, they invented a thing called water.
• 9:11
  Speaker 1: We tried everything.
• 9:13
Speaker 2: We tried everything man, Every hair was permanent.
• 9:15
Speaker 2: Ray thought it was permanent.
• 9:18
Speaker 4: The hair said I'm going this way, no one's moving me, it's funny, oh man.
• 9:23
Speaker 2: And now a radically revolutionary resource.
• 9:26
Speaker 2: This podcast is brought to you by the Bible's four gospels how to find everlasting life Ray.
• 9:33
Speaker 2: I remember when we first talked about this idea.
• 9:36
Speaker 4: Did I give you the?
• 9:37
  Speaker 2: idea.
• 9:37
Speaker 2: No, I think I did, you did not.
• 9:40
  Speaker 4: It's a brilliant idea.
• 9:41
  Speaker 4: I'm convinced.
• 9:42
  Speaker 2: I did, but I probably didn't.
• 9:46
Speaker 4: I remember you saying that was a great idea and that's why we did it.
• 9:48
  Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know.
• 9:49
Speaker 2: That's right, I'm not sure about that.
• 9:51
Speaker 1: We'll have to let eternity settle that account.
• 9:52
Speaker 1: You're right, you're not sure about it, and you don't know.
• 9:54
Speaker 2: Yeah, anyway, it was so good, I thought it maybe was my idea.
• 9:57
Speaker 4: So remember Hell's Best, get Secret that you wrote.
• 9:59
  Speaker 2: I did.
• 10:00
  Speaker 4: Yeah.
• 10:01
Speaker 2: In the late 70s.
• 10:02
Speaker 2: Anyway, the Bible's four gospels is great because it's got the four gospels in it, plus a very clear gospel presentation.
• 10:12
  Speaker 2: Yes, yeah, presentation.
• 10:13
Speaker 4: That's how you can tell what's in it.
• 10:15
Speaker 2: Yeah, bible's four gospels, it's got the gospel in it, and the more you buy, the more you save.
• 10:21
Speaker 2: So you get them in bulk, the price goes down and you can give them out.
• 10:29
Speaker 1: How cool to tell somebody you use all the gospels, Get a million.
• 10:30
Speaker 1: Get them for nothing.
• 10:30
  Speaker 1: Well, hold on.
• 10:30
  Speaker 1: Exclusions apply.
• 10:31
Speaker 1: We'll be bound by that.
• 10:32
  Speaker 1: Be careful.
• 10:33
Speaker 2: And don't forget the Living Waters Bible Study, bible Living Waters TV, living Waters YouTube channel, all at livingwaterscom.
• 10:42
Speaker 2: Alright, today we're talking about are you really bearing fruit for God or just busy?
• 10:49
Speaker 2: And last time we did one on solitude, so this is a little different.
• 10:55
Speaker 2: We were focusing on the other one more on like hey, do you sit in quietness with the Lord?
• 11:01
Speaker 2: This is really more focused on what it really means to bear fruit.
• 11:04
Speaker 2: I was texting with a pastor friend yesterday and he basically sent me a list of the ministries that they're going to axe at their church and it was so encouraging to see that he said we're just doing too much.
• 11:18
Speaker 2: He's saying we're doing too much that we're not able to really focus on the primary ministries of our church.
• 11:24
Speaker 2: So he said we're going to stop doing Sunday night services.
• 11:27
  Speaker 2: And what?
• 11:29
Speaker 2: Yeah, because they do Sunday morning services, they do men's services, they do women's ministry, they do.
• 11:34
Speaker 4: They're cutting the two hours of yodeling on Saturday mornings.
• 11:36
  Speaker 4: Yeah, whoa, whoa.
• 11:38
Speaker 4: No Sunday morning services.
• 11:40
Speaker 1: Yeah, no, sunday morning services Passes quit.
• 11:43
Speaker 2: But I was really blessed by that because it was indicative of evaluation and re-evaluation and just saying, look, we could be doing a lot of things and think we're bearing fruit for the Lord, but we're not.
• 11:56
Speaker 2: And sometimes we can disconnect significance, I think, from activity.
• 12:03
Speaker 2: We're just doing but we're not really recognizing the significance.
• 12:06
  Speaker 2: Why'd you go cross-eyed, ray?
• 12:07
Speaker 4: I yawned and I just decided to go cross-eyed.
• 12:10
Speaker 2: Was that just like a spur-of-the-moment decision?
• 12:12
  Speaker 2: Yeah?
• 12:12
Speaker 4: it was because I thought this is a boring yawn I might make it interesting.
• 12:15
Speaker 4: Was it boring because Izzy was talking no.
• 12:19
Speaker 2: Oscar, you have crumbs on your table, don't do that You're the one eating cookies crumbs.
• 12:31
Speaker 2: So yeah, so what we want to do, we want to explore, like, what is the difference between busyness and bearing fruit?
• 12:34
Speaker 2: And then how do we identify those things in our lives that, though they may be good, really shouldn't be a part of our lives, and then how do we move on from there to bearing fruit for the Lord?
• 12:47
Speaker 2: So, ray, why don't we start first with well, whatever you want to start with, do you have something you'd like to start with?
• 12:53
  Speaker 4: Yeah, John 14, 21.
• 12:55
Speaker 4: Yeah, he that has my commandments and keeps them, he that loves me and he that loves me, beloved of my Father.
• 13:01
Speaker 4: I too will love him and will reveal myself to him or manifest myself to him.
• 13:05
  Speaker 4: Fruit grows silently.
• 13:09
Speaker 4: It's not a big deal if you grow love as a Christian, and love manifests itself in loving others.
• 13:16
Speaker 4: And loving others means you're going to warn them there's a hell and they need to repent and trust in Jesus.
• 13:21
  Speaker 2: Back to evangelism.
• 13:22
Speaker 4: Because he died on the cross, and so there's a busyness that's really good.
• 13:26
  Speaker 4: I love the therefore in 1 Corinthians 15, 58.
• 13:32
Speaker 4: Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord.
• 13:37
  Speaker 4: What's the therefore?
• 13:38
Speaker 4: Therefore, we ask him.
• 13:39
Speaker 4: We go to the previous verses and if you read the previous verses, they build up to this corruption.
• 13:45
Speaker 4: She'll put an incorruption.
• 13:46
Speaker 4: Oh death, where is your sting Grave?
• 13:48
Speaker 4: Where is your victory?
• 13:49
Speaker 4: God has destroyed death through the gospel.
• 13:53
Speaker 4: Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord.
• 13:58
Speaker 4: And you see it in the book of Acts.
• 14:00
Speaker 4: They weren't busy doing anything starting businesses, doing buildings or making buildings.
• 14:05
Speaker 4: Remember when Jesus took to the Mount of Transfiguration and appeared and Peter says let's just start a building program.
• 14:13
  Speaker 3: Remember that.
• 14:14
Speaker 4: He said we'll build tabernacles.
• 14:15
Speaker 4: And it says because he knew not what he was saying.
• 14:18
Speaker 4: It was out of his mind and sometimes we do have things that get us busy building bigger buildings when Europe's full of big buildings that are empty.
• 14:26
Speaker 4: The church is the people and we've got to remember there's people going to hell and everywhere you look.
• 14:31
Speaker 4: In the book of Acts, the disciples were busy seeking and saving that which is lost.
• 14:41
Speaker 2: So there's a busyness that's good, and that is the proclamation of God's Word.
• 14:42
Speaker 2: Would it be right to say the busyness that is a good type of busyness is the one that is fulfilling God's agenda.
• 14:48
Speaker 4: Absolutely, absolutely, yeah, yeah, walking in the footsteps of Jesus.
• 14:51
Speaker 4: I mean, if we had a cure to cancer, we'd be busy.
• 14:54
Speaker 4: We would be telling everybody.
• 14:56
Speaker 4: If we were able to extend everybody's lifespan by 10 years by doing this certain thing, we would just want to tell everybody.
• 15:03
Speaker 4: But we've found everlasting life in Christ.
• 15:06
  Speaker 2: Yeah.
• 15:06
Speaker 4: So we should be busy doing that About my father's business.
• 15:10
Speaker 2: Mark, we have a good brother, Lalo Gunther from AIG.
• 15:14
Speaker 2: We all know Lalo.
• 15:16
  Speaker 4: We love him.
• 15:18
Speaker 2: He just posted pictures today of him and four of his kids in DC and when he was going, I'm like is there something going on out there?
• 15:28
Speaker 2: You're doing a ministry, you're taking your kids.
• 15:30
Speaker 2: He's like no, no, I'm just going to go and spend time with my kids.
• 15:33
Speaker 4: And I loved that, was that Mike Johnson's office.
• 15:36
Speaker 4: He was sitting in?
• 15:36
Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, he was in front of Mike's office, you see what I wrote back.
• 15:39
  Speaker 2: No.
• 15:39
Speaker 4: Is that a new display at the Ark?
• 15:43
  Speaker 2: That'd be funny.
• 15:43
Speaker 2: But, mark, we can, though, sometimes be kind of deceived into thinking well, I'm bearing fruit because this is on god's agenda, like I mentioned earlier, but we're neglecting priority.
• 15:59
Speaker 1: We neglect our wife, our children yeah, his other two kids are three kids that he's got yeah, he neglected them on purpose.
• 16:05
Speaker 1: Yeah, halfway there it is easy to think that you're doing the Lord's work because you're doing good things.
• 16:13
Speaker 1: Right, we got to think about that In Luke 10, 38 to 42, we have the story of Mary and Martha, right?
• 16:20
Speaker 1: Martha is busy serving the Lord.
• 16:24
Speaker 1: Yeah, that's a good spiritual thing.
• 16:27
Speaker 1: So she's busy serving the Lord.
• 16:29
Speaker 1: Mary is busy sitting at the feet of the Lord.
• 16:33
Speaker 1: One thing was required and that wasn't going to be taken away from her.
• 16:36
Speaker 1: So here's Mary sitting.
• 16:38
Speaker 1: So there's a time for sitting, there's a time for service.
• 16:41
Speaker 1: And is it possible to be sitting while you're serving, right To be focused at all times?
• 16:44
Speaker 1: And George Mueller, what was big on this?
• 16:45
Speaker 1: That when he walked, he said I pray when I lay down.
• 16:46
Speaker 1: Be sitting while you're serving, right To be focused at all times.
• 16:48
Speaker 1: And George Mueller, what was big on this?
• 16:50
Speaker 1: That when he walked, he said I would pray when I lay down, I would pray when I would get clean, I would pray.
• 16:56
Speaker 1: That he was always in a state of prayer.
• 16:58
  Speaker 1: What is that?
• 17:01
Speaker 1: What are you doing, ray?
• 17:03
  Speaker 2: Ain't running.
• 17:03
Speaker 2: He showed me a picture of you.
• 17:04
Speaker 1: That is really funny, is it cute?
• 17:06
Speaker 1: You want to have a look at it.
• 17:07
Speaker 1: You got to hold it for the for the camera.
• 17:09
  Speaker 1: Look at that.
• 17:12
  Speaker 1: So anyways, mark.
• 17:13
  Speaker 2: Thank you.
• 17:14
Speaker 2: My hair it looks like the hair is growing out of my head.
• 17:16
  Speaker 1: Look.
• 17:16
  Speaker 4: Oscar.
• 17:19
Speaker 1: You got to hold that for the camera.
• 17:19
Speaker 1: I remember my first time holding a phone.
• 17:24
Speaker 1: You got to do a close-up.
• 17:26
  Speaker 4: It's his hair.
• 17:27
Speaker 2: Anyway, Mark was saying something very spiritual.
• 17:30
  Speaker 2: Thank you, Ray.
• 17:31
  Speaker 2: Thank you, yeah.
• 17:32
Speaker 1: In Revelation 3.1, jesus is saying I know your works, I know you're busy.
• 17:40
Speaker 1: Yeah, I know all the things that you're doing.
• 17:44
  Speaker 1: I know this.
• 17:44
Speaker 1: I see all that is going on right.
• 17:46
Speaker 1: I know your works.
• 17:48
Speaker 1: You have the reputation of being alive, but you are dead.
• 17:53
Speaker 1: You're morto, right, reputation is very important to us and we think that our reputation is by all the things that we are getting done and getting accomplished.
• 18:05
Speaker 1: When somebody says, how are you doing?
• 18:07
Speaker 1: We tend to say all the things that we have been doing, yeah it's almost like they ask us what are you doing?
• 18:13
Speaker 1: So that's really good.
• 18:14
Speaker 1: I remember one time you actually did this several years ago.
• 18:16
Speaker 1: Sorry, I've got a button here Never ask anyone over 60 how you're doing.
• 18:21
Speaker 1: I remember Easy did this to me.
• 18:23
Speaker 1: He corrected me one time several years ago.
• 18:25
Speaker 1: He asked me how are you doing?
• 18:26
Speaker 1: And I told him what I was doing, and Easy, you responded.
• 18:30
Speaker 1: I don't know if you remember this.
• 18:31
Speaker 1: Your response back was oh, I'm sorry, I think you misunderstood the question.
• 18:42
Speaker 1: I didn't ask you what you were doing, I asked how you were doing.
• 18:43
Speaker 1: And that's a good pause, that's a good question and it's a good rebuke all in the same, because we think that our busyness is attributed to godliness, and that isn't always necessarily the case.
• 18:51
Speaker 3: Timothy Keller tells the story and he doesn't use the name but he mentions that it's some national New York Times bestselling author.
• 19:00
Speaker 3: Turns out that he was having an affair and he gets fired from his church rightfully and then he ends up at Keller's church and Keller's sort of discipling him through repentance, discipling him through repentance.
• 19:18
Speaker 3: And the guy tells Keller the story that he would feel what he thought was conviction, leading into Sunday preparing for a sermon, and was like after church, I'm going to confess it all, I need to come clean to my wife, I need to come clean to my elders.
• 19:27
Speaker 3: And then he'd preach and he'd get done and he saw air quotes, the fruitfulness of the sermon and he saw how people were impacted and moved and he was like man the Lord is still working, it's still happening.
• 19:45
Speaker 3: And then he'd push off repentance and Keller points out that we often mistake giftedness for fruitfulness, that often we'll look at our spiritual gifts, our gifts and what we are doing with our lives and productivity.
• 20:00
Speaker 3: You know, ministries are growing, people are being blessed I'm involved in church service in this way and that way and we lose sight of the reality that we are not growing in fruitfulness, we're growing in busyness and I think that the reality is well.
• 20:20
Speaker 3: Adam Mabry says it like this ancient deities demanded the ceaseless work of slaves, the bodies of children, the fires of war to ensure a good harvest.
• 20:33
Speaker 3: In our modern age we laugh at such primitive beliefs, but we are just as pagan.
• 20:39
Speaker 3: The God of this world demands slavish work for our bosses, undernourished relationships with our kids and the fires of political fervor to keep the harvest of hope.
• 20:53
Speaker 3: It basically says we are worshiping the same false idols, if you will.
• 20:59
Speaker 3: And the reality is this.
• 21:01
Speaker 3: I think the answer is in John 15, because thank you Mark, because we think.
• 21:08
Speaker 3: I think oftentimes busyness comes from like the hope of being fruitful.
• 21:13
Speaker 3: I wanna be fruitful, that's why I'm busy.
• 21:17
Speaker 3: But if you notice, the aim of John 15 is not actually fruitfulness.
• 21:23
Speaker 3: Watch this it says I am the vine, you are the branches.
• 21:27
Speaker 3: If a man abides in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit.
• 21:36
Speaker 3: The aim is not fruitfulness, it's abiding in God.
• 21:42
Speaker 3: When we abide in God, fruitfulness develops and we don't settle for simply busy.
• 21:50
Speaker 2: Yeah, I love boiling things down to the foundational level, because everything starts there.
• 21:59
Speaker 2: Obviously, we're talking about fruit and we'll continue to, but if we trace it back to the foundational level of this is how you bear fruit, you abide in me.
• 22:09
Speaker 2: I think that the question becomes then what does it really mean to abide in Christ?
• 22:15
Speaker 2: And I think that's what we should explore, ray.
• 22:16
Speaker 2: What does it really mean to abide in Christ?
• 22:17
Speaker 2: And I think that's you know, that's what we should explore, ray.
• 22:19
Speaker 2: What are you doing?
• 22:21
Speaker 4: I'm typing out 2 Peter, chapter 1, verses 5 to 10, which talks about the fruitfulness we're talking about.
• 22:30
Speaker 4: So, are you familiar with that?
• 22:33
  Speaker 2: I think so.
• 22:34
Speaker 4: Add to your faith virtue, virtue, knowledge to knowledge self-control, self-control, do you want to quote it easy because you can memorize.
• 22:41
Speaker 2: All right, Can you?
• 22:42
Speaker 2: But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue to virtue, knowledge to knowledge, self-control to self-control, perseverance to perseverance, godliness and to godliness.
• 22:51
Speaker 2: Brotherly kindness and brotherly kindness, love.
• 22:54
Speaker 4: And then it says later on these things are yours, unabound.
• 22:55
Speaker 4: And it says if you do these things, you'll neither be unfruitful.
• 23:03
Speaker 2: Somewhere it says it, somewhere Neither barren nor unfruitful.
• 23:04
Speaker 2: Yeah, If you do these things.
• 23:05
Speaker 2: And then he says if you do these things, you will never stumble.
• 23:07
  Speaker 4: That's it.
• 23:13
Speaker 1: So, that's what we should quickly.
• 23:15
Speaker 1: If your fruit is stress and pride anxiousness, then your fruit is probably plastic.
• 23:29
Speaker 3: Wow Right Plastic fruit.
• 23:31
  Speaker 1: Think about that.
• 23:31
Speaker 1: You don't see orange trees struggling to produce oranges.
• 23:37
Speaker 1: One pastor once said that it just happens.
• 23:42
Speaker 1: You abide in the vine, you're going to produce fruit, it's going to be there, and I hate the fact that so many Christians have this plastic facade to themselves and you stop and you look back upon your relationship with certain people that you never really got too deep.
• 24:02
Speaker 1: Maybe you had a sports team in common and you always only talked about sports, but there was no depth that you really can't know how they're doing unless you study them, unless you ask hard questions, unless you welcome them into your life.
• 24:18
  Speaker 1: Right, leonard Ravenhill?
• 24:20
Speaker 1: He said many are too busy doing the work of the Lord to spend time with the Lord of the work.
• 24:25
  Speaker 1: I can't slow down.
• 24:27
Speaker 1: Wow, you know I can't spend time with the.
• 24:29
Speaker 1: Lord, because I'm doing the Lord's work, don't you know?
• 24:31
Speaker 2: that I'm doing the Lord's work, yeah.
• 24:35
Speaker 4: You do a good, leonard Raven, don't you see?
• 24:38
Speaker 2: God has a record.
• 24:39
Speaker 2: I've been praying all night for you, breaking my heart.
• 24:42
Speaker 2: God has a record.
• 24:44
Speaker 2: Remember you rebuked those.
• 24:45
Speaker 2: Oh, you should be at the altar.
• 24:47
Speaker 4: right now I'm at the altar right now.
• 24:49
  Speaker 1: That's in.
• 24:49
  Speaker 4: German.
• 24:51
Speaker 1: You should be at the altar right now, what is your name?
• 24:54
Speaker 4: I mean, it wasn't Indian, so that's enough.
• 24:56
Speaker 4: It was heading there.
• 24:57
  Speaker 4: Yeah, it was.
• 24:58
  Speaker 2: I can't help it.
• 24:59
Speaker 2: Yeah, that's so good, Mark.
• 25:03
Speaker 2: You know, there was someone who told me once they heard a Christian leader basically say I'm so busy doing the Lord's work, I'm too busy for the Lord.
• 25:11
Speaker 2: Yeah, and yeah, that should concern us.
• 25:13
Speaker 2: You know or maybe they said that about them If you're too busy to pray, you should concern us.
• 25:16
Speaker 4: Or maybe they said that about them If you're too busy to pray, you're too busy, oh yeah.
• 25:22
Speaker 1: Did you not tell them that it is the Lord's chips?
• 25:25
Speaker 1: That's what I was thinking of.
• 25:29
Speaker 2: Yeah, so there's this issue of getting caught up and doing a bunch of things.
• 25:35
Speaker 2: You mentioned plastic fruit mark.
• 25:36
Speaker 2: We're staying at an airbnb house because you know our house flooded and insurance company's putting us up why did it flood?
• 25:42
Speaker 2: why did it flood?
• 25:43
Speaker 2: Does it back the pool, backwash, the bully drainage?
• 25:46
  Speaker 2: Yeah anyway.
• 25:50
Speaker 2: But I I saw some apples on the counter at the house.
• 25:53
  Speaker 2: I'm like oh, it's apples.
• 25:54
Speaker 2: And I picked it up and immediately I could tell it was plastic.
• 25:57
Speaker 2: It looked real, but as soon as I handled it I was able to tell it wasn't authentic.
• 26:03
Speaker 2: Yeah, it had no substance, yeah, and so I think that's what maybe happens with us.
• 26:08
Speaker 2: A lot of times, we're seeing what appears to be fruit, but it's really not.
• 26:13
Speaker 2: It's not fruit, it's maybe the fruit of our own accomplishments, and it's just the byproduct of doing a bunch of stuff, but we're not doing it in a way that is bearing real fruit.
• 26:30
Speaker 4: So, speaking of orange trees, what can you use?
• 26:31
Speaker 4: Orange peel for Orange peel?
• 26:33
Speaker 2: Have you ever eaten orange peel?
• 26:35
  Speaker 4: No, why not?
• 26:36
Speaker 4: Don't tell me you've eaten it.
• 26:38
Speaker 4: It could be a cure to baldness or something Everyone ignores.
• 26:41
Speaker 4: Orange peel we eat, apple peel, every other peel we eat, but no one eats orange peel.
• 26:46
Speaker 1: Brad eats the entire apple, everything.
• 26:48
Speaker 4: You can start a little flame.
• 26:50
Speaker 4: Have you ever got an orange peel and squeeze it yeah.
• 26:59
Speaker 2: And it sends out this acid and you light a match and it's great, that's right way to teach your children.
• 27:01
Speaker 2: Is that how you start the fire?
• 27:02
Speaker 2: You didn't learn enough from catching your robe on fire?
• 27:03
Speaker 2: Yeah, seriously, you again.
• 27:04
  Speaker 2: Don't try this.
• 27:04
Speaker 2: Near lucy and catch her fur on fire with orange peel.
• 27:07
Speaker 2: Have you guys ever eaten a banana peel?
• 27:09
Speaker 3: somewhere out there, though, some tonight some five-year-old kid is going to be like look what Ray taught me.
• 27:15
Speaker 2: Mom Disclaimer do not try this at home.
• 27:18
Speaker 1: Don't try anything that Ray has.
• 27:19
Speaker 4: Seriously, we do use apple, orange peel for rind when you're making orange cake, but banana peel never gets used.
• 27:28
Speaker 4: Everyone throws them away.
• 27:29
Speaker 4: Poor guy, shame on people, I'd like to see you eat one Easy Banana peel.
• 27:34
  Speaker 4: I know.
• 27:44
Speaker 2: Let's get back to to martha um luke 10, 41 to 42, and jesus answered, said her martha.
• 27:47
Speaker 2: Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things.
• 27:49
Speaker 2: I like mark the fact that you highlighted that, like, if you're seeing worry, anxiety, stress, stress.
• 27:55
Speaker 2: There's a problem there and what's crazy is that we can find ourselves doing those things in the midst of or in connection to ministry activities.
• 28:11
Speaker 2: I was talking to you guys about what was going on with our insurance company and they found asbestos under this flooring that was there probably from the 60s or 40s, whatever that glue, old glue and they had to remove it.
• 28:22
Speaker 2: And then we, you know all this stuff.
• 28:23
Speaker 2: And then it came up that well, wait a minute, the person who had originally replaced that floor should have noticed that we're not responsible for that and they weren't going to cover it.
• 28:30
  Speaker 2: I didn't know if this was going to be $30,000, $40,000, $50,000.
• 28:33
Speaker 2: I didn't know what it was going to cost to remove it and I felt myself on the verge of total panic.
• 28:38
Speaker 2: And you guys remember we were in the staff meeting and I was talking about Jesus and the disciples on the boat.
• 28:43
Speaker 2: They're worried about Jesus, mentions 11 of Herod and the Pharisees and they start thinking, oh no, we only have one loaf of bread.
• 28:49
Speaker 2: And they start panicking.
• 28:50
Speaker 2: And he tells them when I fed the 7,000, the 5,000, how many baskets of leftovers did you pick up?
• 28:57
Speaker 2: And then he says to them having eyes, do you not see?
• 29:01
Speaker 2: Having ears, do you not hear?
• 29:02
Speaker 2: And do you not remember?
• 29:04
Speaker 2: And he asks them have you become hardened of heart?
• 29:07
Speaker 2: And oftentimes we're doing that in ministry.
• 29:10
Speaker 2: Oh no, we've got to get this track printed.
• 29:12
Speaker 2: It's not going to get done on time.
• 29:13
Speaker 2: Get in the flesh.
• 29:14
  Speaker 2: Ray does that.
• 29:15
Speaker 2: Who are you picking on?
• 29:15
  Speaker 2: Ray does that?
• 29:16
Speaker 2: No, but we just like.
• 29:21
Speaker 2: It's almost as if, though in that moment, we've become practical atheists.
• 29:26
  Speaker 2: Yeah, that's good.
• 29:27
Speaker 2: We're doing the Lord's work, we're doing this for the Lord In whatever we're doing.
• 29:32
Speaker 2: It maybe even talks about how we trust the Lord and we, they're going to cover it.
• 29:39
Speaker 2: And so I said to the guys that morning.
• 29:41
Speaker 2: I said I've chosen to remember and it all worked out.
• 29:46
Speaker 2: And even if it didn't right God is sovereign Ray will pay for it.
• 29:49
  Speaker 2: I mean, it's all new.
• 29:50
Speaker 1: Ray will pay for it.
• 29:51
Speaker 1: We want things done our way right.
• 29:53
  Speaker 1: It's reminding me.
• 29:53
Speaker 1: I get caught at this train track on my way to work probably half the times.
• 29:57
Speaker 1: I come up to the train and this guy that was behind me.
• 30:00
Speaker 1: When the train, the thing starts coming down, the red lights are flashing.
• 30:04
Speaker 1: As soon as I started doing that, the guy behind me just starts hitting his steering wheel, and he was so upset I just knew that I had to get out of his way because he was late for something.
• 30:14
Speaker 1: But what are we doing?
• 30:15
  Speaker 1: Right?
• 30:16
Speaker 1: Think about what we're doing in the Christian world.
• 30:17
Speaker 4: So was he waiting for the train?
• 30:19
Speaker 1: and it was upsetting him.
• 30:19
Speaker 1: He was upset that the train came down and slowed him down, that he wasn't able to go because it's a long train.
• 30:26
Speaker 2: It's a 16-hour train, so you and Easy take the same route.
• 30:30
Speaker 1: But here's the thing, right, what we think we need no trains, green lights, nobody in front of me, nobody slow in front of me, right, we think that's what we need.
• 30:40
Speaker 1: So then we get upset at our circumstance because we think our circumstance is going to get us to where we need to be and get us joy and bliss.
• 30:49
Speaker 1: But in reality, what are you really asking for?
• 30:52
Speaker 1: Well, I've been late before to work and if I'm late again, I'm going to get written up.
• 30:58
Speaker 1: So it's really not the red light, it's I have an issue at work.
• 31:04
Speaker 1: So the prayer is not let me hit more green lights and not get behind slow drivers.
• 31:08
Speaker 1: The prayer is Lord, will you take care of that thing at the end?
• 31:12
Speaker 1: So I could literally be anxious for nothing.
• 31:16
Speaker 1: Maybe learn from this.
• 31:17
Speaker 1: Leave a little bit earlier tomorrow.
• 31:18
Speaker 1: But what we think we need is not always what we really need.
• 31:23
Speaker 1: So it's a good thing that God doesn't always give us what we pray for.
• 31:28
Speaker 1: It's easier to not get frustrated with people when we realize that we don't fight against flesh and blood, but against principality and power.
• 31:37
Speaker 3: It's interesting to me that busyness has become a virtue in our society when in reality, psalm 127 says it is vain that you rise up early and go lay to rest, eating the bread of anxious toil, for he gives to his beloved sleep.
• 31:54
Speaker 3: And then you think of Corrie ten Boom.
• 31:57
Speaker 3: I think it was the one that said what did she say?
• 32:00
Speaker 3: She's not the one that said busyness is violent to the soul.
• 32:04
Speaker 3: She said oh, if God, if the devil can't make you sin, he'll make you busy.
• 32:07
Speaker 3: That's what it was that she said.
• 32:10
Speaker 3: And yet in our minds, in modern day culture, busyness is a virtue.
• 32:15
Speaker 3: We kind of hit on it earlier.
• 32:16
Speaker 3: When you ask somebody nowadays how are you doing?
• 32:18
Speaker 3: Back, then it was like we're doing good, etc.
• 32:21
  Speaker 3: Cetera.
• 32:21
Speaker 3: Now the words that you're gonna hear is how are you doing?
• 32:25
  Speaker 3: Busy?
• 32:26
Speaker 3: And when we hear that response busy, we think of virtue.
• 32:31
Speaker 3: Wow, he's valuable, he's important, he's got stuff going on, things are going really well.
• 32:38
Speaker 3: We see busy as a virtue when the scriptures describe it as a vice, and even when, because one of the solutions to our busyness is finding rest.
• 32:48
Speaker 3: But if you notice that the modern day reason for rest is only so that we can be more effective busy bodies right, we like if you, you know you go online.
• 32:59
Speaker 3: Everyone's talking about rest right now, but you rest so that you can be more effective.
• 33:02
  Speaker 3: Line.
• 33:02
Speaker 3: Everyone's talking about rest right now, but you rest so that you can be more effective.
• 33:05
Speaker 3: But, as one person once said, sabbath is about finding space to remember that you're human, not a machine.
• 33:11
Speaker 3: In other words, in the midst of our rest, what we need to find is dependence on God.
• 33:18
Speaker 3: What rest is meant for, as we said earlier, is to abide in our beloved.
• 33:30
Speaker 3: Rest isn't so that you can be a better busy person.
• 33:32
Speaker 3: Rest is so that you can grow in the fruitfulness that God is offering you when you tap into his vine.
• 33:38
Speaker 2: Yeah, and what we don't think about oftentimes too, is that it's not just about the fruit that's being birthed through us, like especially when we're involved in the things of God, it's about the fruit that God wants to birth in us.
• 33:51
Speaker 2: So we could be looking to do something and we're focused on that, but our heart isn't right, Our attitude isn't right.
• 33:58
Speaker 2: I mean, you guys think about 1 Corinthians 13, where we're told about the man who can speak with the tongues of men and of angels.
• 34:07
Speaker 2: He has all wisdom, he can solve all mysteries, but doesn't have love.
• 34:12
Speaker 2: The man who gives all of his goods for the poor, the man who gives his body to be burned for other people but doesn't have love.
• 34:22
Speaker 2: So I mean, that's an example of doing things that seem to be fruitful.
• 34:25
Speaker 2: I mean the guy's selling everything he has and giving it away.
• 34:27
Speaker 2: The guy's willing to die for the sake of it.
• 34:30
  Speaker 2: That's fruit?
• 34:31
Speaker 2: No, it's not, because it's absent of love.
• 34:34
Speaker 2: Mark, wouldn't you say that it ultimately comes down to that right?
• 34:38
Speaker 2: Loving God and loving people in everything we do ends up being true fruitfulness.
• 34:42
Speaker 1: God and loving people in everything we do ends up being true fruitfulness.
• 34:45
Speaker 1: Your best effort without love is as useful as a flat tire, right, and it gets you as far as a flat tire can take you.
• 34:52
Speaker 1: You've been designed by operating with love right Now.
• 34:57
Speaker 1: It's easy to get caught up now and to begin to think well, what is my motive in this?
• 35:00
Speaker 1: And you can overthink it.
• 35:02
Speaker 1: And I often say don't overthink it, just do it.
• 35:05
Speaker 1: So if you are concerned that you may lack the love, well, there's probably love present.
• 35:12
Speaker 1: God's probably doing a work inside of you.
• 35:14
  Speaker 1: That's a good sign.
• 35:15
Speaker 1: If you're feeling conviction, it's a good sign that you are born again, or God's doing a work that only he can do in the midst of you, right?
• 35:22
Speaker 1: So, yeah, love is so important that I don't think that we are able to actually experience it the way God fully intended us to experience it, which is that unconditional, sacrificial, and we're called to love as he loved.
• 35:37
Speaker 1: But it's something that we continually aim for.
• 35:40
Speaker 1: So when we're done with the task, it's always good to just kind of pause and take inventory.
• 35:44
Speaker 1: You know what went right, what went wrong, what was my motive in the midst of doing that deed?
• 35:49
  Speaker 2: How can?
• 35:50
Speaker 1: I make that better next time.
• 35:52
Speaker 2: Yeah, and then, you know, I was texting with our friend Wayne Burrow yesterday I think you were too, mark.
• 35:59
Speaker 2: He was asking us about what love, like what is love?
• 36:02
Speaker 2: Oh, he got on to you as well, you too.
• 36:04
Speaker 2: He's hitting us all.
• 36:05
Speaker 4: Oh yeah, and he can come back to us now, while he's at Agape and I told him and then I just sent back 1 Corinthians, 15, or 13, and all what love is?
• 36:14
Speaker 4: We probably all sent him the same answers.
• 36:16
Speaker 2: You know he eats I love his heart, right, he eats hamburgers with a knife and fork, I know, but he has such a heart to want to honor the Lord in all things.
• 36:27
Speaker 2: But one of the things I said to him as we were discussing the definition of love, he said but what does it mean with love?
• 36:35
Speaker 2: And I think ultimately Ray, I'd like to hear what you think about this I think it ultimately comes down to it's not just the actions of 1 Corinthians 13, but it's connected with a genuine care for the supposed object of your love, both the Lord and others, and it should be effortless.
• 36:51
Speaker 4: Love for the Christian should be effortless.
• 36:53
  Speaker 4: 1 Corinthians 15, 5,.
• 36:55
Speaker 4: I am the vine, you are the branches, he that abides in me and I in him.
• 36:59
Speaker 4: The same brings forth much fruit, and that should be effortless.
• 37:04
Speaker 4: If you're a Christian, the fruit should be manifest, and that if we've got love, we should easily love people, because it's the love of God that dwells in our hearts by the Holy Spirit.
• 37:13
Speaker 4: And then I love the most profound words that Jesus said straight in that same verse.
• 37:18
  Speaker 4: Isn't that powerful.
• 37:23
  Speaker 2: Yeah.
• 37:23
Speaker 4: Because if there's anything I don't want to do with my life, it's nothing, and it makes me always make sure I abide in him and don't do my own thing, because I want to bring forth much fruit and I don't want to bring forth much fruit just so I can say look at me, I'm a fruit-bearing Christian.
• 37:39
Speaker 4: I want that love to motivate me to reach the lost.
• 37:42
Speaker 4: Love, joy, peace, patience, goodness, gentleness, faith, meekness and temperance All those things can be evolved in evangelism.
• 37:52
Speaker 4: We should have patience with the ungodly, meekness with the ungodly, love with the ungodly, because we abide in Him and he abides in us.
• 37:58
Speaker 1: You know George Whitefield, who obviously preached to thousands.
• 38:01
Speaker 1: He questioned whether he was producing fruit or whether he was just busy.
• 38:07
Speaker 1: Am I just busy or am I producing fruit?
• 38:10
Speaker 1: And he said Lord, keep me from being a mere preacher and make me a true laborer for souls.
• 38:18
  Speaker 2: Ooh, convicting.
• 38:20
Speaker 2: Wow, that's so good.
• 38:22
Speaker 4: Was he cross-eyed George Whitefieldfield?
• 38:24
Speaker 4: Yeah, because I've seen all the who.
• 38:25
Speaker 4: Was it edwards one of them?
• 38:27
Speaker 4: All the photos off that?
• 38:29
Speaker 4: You see, I think it was whitfield, they're not you're right, they're not, they're not, not photos.
• 38:33
Speaker 4: The paintings are yeah, um, so his crowds would have looked bigger to him is that why you crossed your eyes earlier, right?
• 38:41
Speaker 4: While you were yawning.
• 38:43
Speaker 2: Yeah, it's one of those things where, again, we trace it back to like what are we doing?
• 38:52
Speaker 2: It's good to evaluate our motives, but still do the right thing right.
• 38:58
Speaker 2: So if you're struggling with a motive of, oh am I going to save this drowning child because I want to be glorified as a hero or because I want to you save the child, deal with your motives right, like later.
• 39:10
Speaker 2: It doesn't mean you stop doing what's right, but it means you take your heart to the Lord so that he would refine it and work on it, you know, and bring you to a place where you know you do it for the right reason.
• 39:28
Speaker 2: And I think a part of that abiding in Christ is acknowledging the Lord in everything you do.
• 39:32
Speaker 2: And ultimately, I would say, oscar, your ambition is to do it for His glory.
• 39:37
Speaker 2: That distinguishes it Because, back to the whole love analogy 1 Corinthians 13, you could seem to be a person who loves God because you do so many spiritual things, but it could be because you want the attention you may give your body to be burned, but it may be because in the back of your mind, you want to go down as a hero.
• 39:52
Speaker 2: Rather than I want to lift up God.
• 39:55
Speaker 2: I want to let my light so shine to my men that they may see my good works and glorify my Father who's in heaven.
• 40:00
Speaker 3: Yeah, and our love for God escalates, comes to its first, furthest, oh man, its furthest fruition when we understand His love for us.
• 40:13
Speaker 3: Which is why the gospel is so important to our busy lives and it reminds us of our rest.
• 40:19
Speaker 3: I mean, it's important to remember that God provides rest from busyness.
• 40:22
  Speaker 3: Pre-fall, that's right.
• 40:24
Speaker 3: He gives us the Sabbath before the fall, which tells us that resting is not a necessity because of sin.
• 40:32
Speaker 3: It's embedded into the way God meant to make the world.
• 40:37
Speaker 3: God rested and if you think about it, god rests not because he needed it after creation.
• 40:43
Speaker 3: Come on, we're talking about God.
• 40:45
Speaker 3: God didn't go to work for six days and was exhausted, right?
• 40:49
Speaker 3: God rests because he knows that we would one day need rest, because he wanted to point us to something beautiful, and I think about Deuteronomy 5, or all through Deuteronomy.
• 40:59
Speaker 3: Thank you so much.
• 41:00
Speaker 3: Think about just the relationship with Israel in Egypt.
• 41:03
Speaker 3: You know, israel was a slave community in Egypt.
• 41:08
Speaker 3: They worked so that Pharaoh could rest.
• 41:13
Speaker 3: But God works so that we could rest, and this reminds us of the false gods.
• 41:23
Speaker 3: Like the false gods tell us do more.
• 41:24
Speaker 3: That's Pharaoh, your master.
• 41:25
Speaker 3: The false gods tell us when we say this is too important, I got to get it done now.
• 41:30
Speaker 3: What we're sometimes actually saying is I'm too important, I need to get it done now.
• 41:35
Speaker 3: It's rooted in pride, and so Sabbath resting abiding is ultimately an act of defiance against false gods of work, of efficiency, of self-importance.
• 41:50
Speaker 3: And the reality is Jesus does not need you to keep his throne.
• 41:56
Speaker 3: As a matter of fact, he got off the throne to bring you to his kingdom.
• 42:03
Speaker 3: That's the good news of the gospel that we can find rest in Amen.
• 42:08
Speaker 2: Yeah, Mark, I wanted to ask you.
• 42:11
Speaker 2: You know, sometimes people think that they're going to see this massive amount of fruit, so to speak, from their labors.
• 42:23
Speaker 2: We've touched on this before, but I think this is so important because people can easily abandon the course that God has set them on because they're not seeing what they want to see in the time they want to see it.
• 42:36
Speaker 2: But fruitfulness doesn't always mean that we see an immediate outcome or the outcome that we want or to the level we want it to.
• 42:42
Speaker 2: There's fruitfulness and obedience.
• 42:44
  Speaker 2: That's a fruit.
• 42:44
  Speaker 2: That's it.
• 42:45
Speaker 1: You know we've talked about it a lot that God is not calling you to be fruitful, but faithful.
• 42:50
Speaker 1: The fruit belongs to Him, salvation belongs to God.
• 42:53
Speaker 1: It could be very detrimental to see fruit, for whatever reason.
• 42:57
Speaker 1: You start patting yourself on the back, you begin to think through look at this great kingdom which I have built, and God knows what he's doing.
• 43:05
Speaker 1: We don't need to do that and we think, well, if I could see fruit?
• 43:09
Speaker 1: Well then I know God is in it.
• 43:10
Speaker 1: No, you can know God is in it by simply doing what God has told you to do inside of His Word.
• 43:15
Speaker 1: Well, wouldn't it be good to see fruit?
• 43:17
Speaker 1: If it's good, then you'll see it.
• 43:19
Speaker 1: No good thing will he withhold from those who walk uprightly.
• 43:28
  Speaker 1: Well, wouldn't?
• 43:28
Speaker 3: it be good to have a million dollars.
• 43:29
Speaker 1: If you needed a million dollars, god will give you a million dollars.
• 43:31
Speaker 1: Right, so we can't.
• 43:31
Speaker 1: Oswald Chambers he said the good is always the enemy of the best, right.
• 43:35
Speaker 1: So we think it would be good to have something inside of our lives, but what is the best thing?
• 43:40
Speaker 1: So what is a good prayer?
• 43:42
Speaker 1: Well, I think it would be good to have this, but I want you to choose Solomon.
• 43:49
Speaker 1: He asked for wisdom and he was granted wisdom, because what ordinary would somebody pray that they might have riches, that they might have a great kingdom, whatever they may have?
• 43:57
Speaker 1: And God granted them wisdom and riches together because he didn't ask amiss.
• 44:03
Speaker 1: So oftentimes we will ask amiss.
• 44:05
Speaker 1: So it is good that when you're done praying, to just simply say Lord, but I don't know what I'm saying.
• 44:10
  Speaker 1: Look at, I'm a new.
• 44:12
Speaker 4: That's a great way to end all prayers instead of amen and amen.
• 44:16
Speaker 2: Lord, we had no idea what we just said.
• 44:18
Speaker 2: Please work in this mess of a prayer.
• 44:20
  Speaker 2: Cipher that.
• 44:21
  Speaker 1: Filter that.
• 44:21
Speaker 1: Do what you do best.
• 44:23
Speaker 1: Make my heart aligned with yours when Scripture says delight yourself in the Lord and He'll give you the desires of your heart.
• 44:29
Speaker 1: It's not like, well, I'm going to delight myself in the Lord and then I'm going to get the Lamborghini, and all this, no, no.
• 44:34
Speaker 1: When you are in prayer and meditation, delighting to do God's will, he puts His desires inside your heart and then, all of a sudden, those desires get filled, because that's what he wanted to do all along.
• 44:45
Speaker 1: He has your good in mind, but your good is a reflection of the glory of God.
• 44:50
Speaker 1: He wants to reflect himself to the world.
• 44:52
Speaker 1: Look, if you don't have it, it may be because you didn't ask for it.
• 44:56
Speaker 1: It's because you really don't need it and you don't know what you're asking for, as you've asked for that, wow.
• 45:02
Speaker 1: So God deciphers that and filters that Amen and Ray.
• 45:05
Speaker 2: Fruitfulness can't be True.
• 45:08
Speaker 2: Fruitfulness can't be divorced from truth, and what I mean by that is we have Jehovah's Witnesses and Mormons that can point to what appears to be fruit and say look at all the people that follow us, look at the billions of dollars, in the case of the Mormon church, that we have, look at all that.
• 45:24
Speaker 2: But if you divorce truth from what seems to be fruitfulness, that's not real fruit.
• 45:29
Speaker 4: Amazing how many people say I don't believe in something, therefore it doesn't exist, which is totally illogical, Kind of like.
• 45:35
Speaker 2: I don't believe in it at all for life.
• 45:39
Speaker 4: I remember her face.
• 45:41
  Speaker 2: She's a.
• 45:41
Speaker 4: Jewish lady from 20 years ago in Santa Monica.
• 45:47
Speaker 4: I don't believe in an afterlife.
• 45:49
  Speaker 2: I don't know I don't believe in an afterlife.
• 45:52
  Speaker 2: I don't believe in that.
• 45:54
  Speaker 2: It was great.
• 45:58
Speaker 2: Whatever you're talking about was terrific.
• 45:59
Speaker 3: Whatever you're talking about To your point, though and again this brings us back, because you're absolutely right we have to remember what is fruitfulness.
• 46:07
Speaker 3: Fruitfulness is not a billion dollars in the bank account.
• 46:10
  Speaker 3: Fruitfulness isn't 10,000, 10 million, 10 billion followers.
• 46:14
Speaker 3: Fruitfulness isn't doing work.
• 46:16
Speaker 3: Fruitfulness, according to Galatians 5, is love, joy, peace, patience.
• 46:23
Speaker 3: Five is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.
• 46:31
Speaker 3: And, to your point, love is rooted in the one true God, faithfulness is to the one true God.
• 46:37
Speaker 3: And so, yeah, to your point, you cannot be fruitful apart from being fruitful in Christ.
• 46:45
Speaker 2: Yeah, amen, that's where real fruit is at.
• 46:48
Speaker 2: But, ray, I do want to go to this, though, because, again, we're talking about being cautious about what you perceive as fruit and not to mistake this for what is fruitfulness and so forth, but you have been blessed to see fruit from so much sewing you've done for so long.
• 47:09
Speaker 2: I mean, we read these cool, classy comments every episode of people who've been impacted and touched and are sharing the gospel, and how sweet is that, though, for the Christian to be able to see that fruit.
• 47:21
Speaker 4: Yeah, it's super sweet.
• 47:22
Speaker 4: We sow in tears but we reap in joy.
• 47:25
Speaker 4: And I don't particularly like planting seed, but I do like picking fruit.
• 47:29
Speaker 4: And don't get rid of your swimming pool easy.
• 47:33
Speaker 4: Put a vegetable garden.
• 47:35
Speaker 4: Are you mad at your pool?
• 47:39
Speaker 4: For flooding your house?
• 47:39
Speaker 2: Oh, man, I'll tell you, you know.
• 47:42
Speaker 2: Again, you think about it.
• 47:44
Speaker 2: I love what Mark said.
• 47:44
Speaker 2: God knows what we need and you can trace it back.
• 47:48
Speaker 2: Why did I do this?
• 47:49
Speaker 2: I filled my pool just before leaving for Cuba, right, my Cuba trip.
• 47:54
  Speaker 2: That I did.
• 47:54
Speaker 2: I'm like it's low, the level's low, the pool man's always.
• 47:56
Speaker 2: You got to fill your pool, you know.
• 47:58
Speaker 2: So I fill it, but I filled it too much.
• 48:01
Speaker 2: You know, you turn on the water.
• 48:02
Speaker 2: I set alarms, I put like seven sticky notes around the house because if you forget it then your house will flood, you know.
• 48:09
Speaker 2: Anyway, I turned off, but it was just too high.
• 48:11
Speaker 2: You have to have a gap between the place the water goes in so it filters, right.
• 48:16
Speaker 2: Anyway, the pool man comes, and so he did that to lower the level of the water just after I had filled it.
• 48:22
Speaker 2: So I'm like if I didn't fill it, if I had to fill it, it wouldn't have done that.
• 48:25
Speaker 2: But you know what?
• 48:27
Speaker 2: God knew, that I need this trial in my life.
• 48:33
  Speaker 2: There's a reason for it, there's a purpose in it.
• 48:34
Speaker 4: Just to give you a feeling for Noah.
• 48:35
Speaker 3: Yeah, so I built an ark.
• 48:36
Speaker 3: Now in the pool I hear I think you're blaming Cuba.
• 48:39
  Speaker 3: It's Cuba's fault.
• 48:40
Speaker 3: Let me shift gears a little bit, because I was just thinking about this.
• 48:44
Speaker 2: Wait, what was I saying, though?
• 48:45
Speaker 2: Did I say something?
• 48:46
Speaker 4: It doesn't matter, no, it's like, put soil in your pool and grow a vegetable garden and let it be fruitful.
• 48:52
Speaker 3: I wonder and maybe this is an Orange County thing or maybe other people experience this too but I wonder how much we are raising kids for busyness rather than fruitfulness.
• 49:03
Speaker 3: You know, our kids are 11, 13, and 15.
• 49:07
Speaker 3: And so all around us is the temptation to be super busy every night.
• 49:13
Speaker 3: Monday, it's a sporting practice, tuesday it's Bible study, wednesday it's sport practice, thursday it's Bible study, friday it's game, saturday it's game, and then, if you're club, you're potentially having games on Sundays, and so we can look at that and go man, we're raising our kids to be efficient, to be hard workers.
• 49:32
  Speaker 3: They're getting A's, they're taking, they're in sports.
• 49:35
Speaker 3: We're setting them up for some future success out of college, to make a big impact or to have a safe, comfortable, good life.
• 49:43
Speaker 3: But I wonder if we're sacrificing raising our kids with the focus of fruitfulness for them to be able to abide Like does the rhythms of raising our kids call them to abide into God, or is it calling them to be busy?
• 50:03
Speaker 2: Wow, wow, it's so good.
• 50:05
Speaker 2: We don't think on that level too often because we're flying by the seat of our pants trying to.
• 50:12
Speaker 2: Could you explain what that means?
• 50:13
Speaker 2: I have no idea.
• 50:15
Speaker 3: I thought, as I'm saying it, I'm like where does that come from?
• 50:18
Speaker 3: And is it bad?
• 50:18
  Speaker 3: I don't know if it's a bad thing.
• 50:22
Speaker 2: I'm like there were things that I've caught myself in later that people are like dude, that's bad.
• 50:27
  Speaker 2: I'm like I didn't know that.
• 50:28
Speaker 2: But we're doing because, honestly, most of the time we're in survival mode.
• 50:34
Speaker 2: That's why what we talked about in our last podcast episode, solitude, is so important because it slows you down enough to reevaluate and to re-examine and to say, hey, we might have to quit sports.
• 50:50
Speaker 2: We might not do that next season, because we're sacrificing the pathway to fruitfulness.
• 50:56
Speaker 4: Life can become a controlled panic.
• 51:00
  Speaker 2: Wow, that's good.
• 51:02
  Speaker 4: Explain that, ray?
• 51:03
  Speaker 4: I haven't got a clue.
• 51:04
Speaker 4: It just came to me, that's all I got.
• 51:07
Speaker 2: Ray says it looks very wise, but has no idea what he just said the phrase fly by the seat of your pants came from early aviation in the 1930s, particularly among World War I and early commercial pilots who had to navigate without modern instruments.
• 51:24
Speaker 4: What's that got to do with the seat of their pants?
• 51:26
Speaker 1: So literally meaning, pilots relied on their senses and instincts, especially the seat of the pants fill, rather than flight instruments, and they could sense changes in the aircraft's movement through vibrations and pressure shifts in their seat.
• 51:40
Speaker 2: We don't just inspire, we educate.
• 51:42
Speaker 4: Moody Films has got an incredible movie about pilots that died because they didn't take any notice of the instruments.
• 51:49
Speaker 4: They flew over the Sahara Desert and they didn't realize they had a hard back wind behind them and they thought no, the instruments can't be right, we can go down here.
• 51:57
  Speaker 4: And they died.
• 51:58
Speaker 4: Very powerful and it just says don't trust your senses, Just trust God and His Word.
• 52:04
Speaker 4: Moody Bible films are amazing, Actually, I just read that what you just said.
• 52:10
Speaker 1: Moody Bible films are amazing.
• 52:11
Speaker 1: Actually, I just read that what you just said.
• 52:14
Speaker 1: Yeah, the phrase gained popularity in 1938 when Douglas Wrongway Corrigan made a solo transatlantic flight from the US to Ireland despite filing a flight plan, for California Newspapers described him as having flown by the seat of his pants when he should have followed the instruments.
• 52:28
  Speaker 2: Ooh, that's good.
• 52:29
Speaker 2: Dallas Willard said the greatest enemy of intimacy with Jesus is not sin, it is service without seeking him.
• 52:37
  Speaker 2: Wow Dang.
• 52:40
Speaker 4: Whoo Old Testament calls it presumption, doesn't it Just?
• 52:44
Speaker 2: presuming God is with you.
• 52:45
Speaker 4: So you go into battle.
• 52:46
Speaker 2: Oh yeah, and they lost the battle because they didn't seek God.
• 52:49
Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, and I love this verse in Colossians, just all of it, the whole thing, just Colossians.
• 52:59
Speaker 2: Let me quote Colossians for us.
• 53:02
Speaker 4: You know we should go into harmony of.
• 53:03
  Speaker 4: I can't harmonize.
• 53:05
Speaker 4: Ah, I tickled my lip.
• 53:08
  Speaker 4: My teeth vibrated.
• 53:09
  Speaker 4: That's a horrible feeling.
• 53:10
Speaker 1: Ah, I tickled my lip, oh ew.
• 53:10
  Speaker 2: What.
• 53:11
  Speaker 4: My teeth vibrated.
• 53:12
  Speaker 4: That's a horrible feeling, ew.
• 53:15
  Speaker 2: Oh.
• 53:16
  Speaker 4: That's a horrible feeling.
• 53:17
  Speaker 2: Colossians.
• 53:18
Speaker 2: You heard it here first Colossians 1.10.
• 53:20
Speaker 2: That you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God.
• 53:31
Speaker 2: I love where that's sandwiched right being fruitful in every good work but it's sandwiched between walking worthy of the Lord and pleasing Him and the knowledge of God.
• 53:42
  Speaker 2: I love sandwiches.
• 53:43
Speaker 2: Why don't we say it was hamburgered?
• 53:49
  Speaker 4: between the two.
• 53:50
Speaker 4: It's in and out in between.
• 53:52
Speaker 4: Oh man, I'm hungry.
• 53:53
Speaker 1: Now you're making a Jersey Mike song here.
• 53:57
Speaker 2: But you know I love that.
• 53:59
Speaker 2: It's like look, you have to have those elements present.
• 54:03
Speaker 2: You have to be a person who walks in a manner worthy of the Lord.
• 54:07
Speaker 2: Right, you guys, remember that gives the imagery of a scale and the object equals out to the weight that's on the other side.
• 54:15
  Speaker 2: It balances out.
• 54:16
Speaker 2: So we need to walk in a way that's equal to the value of the Lord.
• 54:22
Speaker 2: What we do reflects His greatness and His glory and then, in connection with that, then we're seeking to please him.
• 54:31
Speaker 2: We do it for his honor, for his pleasure, not for men, not so people can think we're fruitful and great, but to bring him pleasure.
• 54:37
Speaker 2: And right on the other side of that fruitfulness is the knowledge of God.
• 54:43
Speaker 2: Right, thus says the Lord, isaiah 49, jeremiah 29.
• 54:48
Speaker 2: Wait, I write this every time I sign something.
• 54:52
Speaker 2: Is it just an Old Testament?
• 54:53
Speaker 2: Yeah, Jeremiah, Jeremiah 29.
• 54:56
  Speaker 2: I'm sure it's 29.
• 54:57
Speaker 2: Thus says the Lord.
• 54:58
Speaker 2: Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, let not the mighty man glory in his might, nor let the rich man glory in his riches, but let him who glories glory in this, that he understands and knows me.
• 55:07
  Speaker 4: Is that?
• 55:08
  Speaker 2: Isaiah, jeremiah 9.
• 55:10
  Speaker 2: Jeremiah 9, 23-24.
• 55:17
Speaker 2: Yeah, that's what it is, but yeah, the knowledge of God being immersed in that and devoted to understanding his heart and communing with him.
• 55:27
Speaker 2: Oscar, someone said to me one time this guy was known as like the Billy Graham of the Middle East.
• 55:32
Speaker 2: He and I were speaking at a conference together in Oregon years ago and he said something to me that I've just never forgotten, and he said never, ever go up to that pulpit without taking Jesus with you.
• 55:49
Speaker 4: Have you seen the pulpits where they have a plaque that says we wish to see Jesus.
• 55:52
Speaker 4: No, sir, we don't wish to see Jesus.
• 55:55
Speaker 4: They use the KJV.
• 55:56
Speaker 4: Sir, we would see Jesus.
• 55:58
  Speaker 4: Yes, very powerful.
• 56:00
Speaker 2: Oh, I know it's so good.
• 56:01
Speaker 2: Yeah, a friend of mine sent me a picture from his Bible where I think he had that in there.
• 56:06
Speaker 2: He says he looks at these before he gets up to the pulpit, but Oscar isn't that.
• 56:10
  Speaker 3: It's so good.
• 56:11
Speaker 3: I love that you keep using you keep.
• 56:13
Speaker 3: I don't know if you realize this or not, but you keep using the word abide.
• 56:16
Speaker 3: You keep going back to that and you started out by saying that, and that's really something where we need to unpack that, and I think we've done that.
• 56:24
Speaker 3: One of the ways that you or we could unpack abide is abiding in God is it requires time.
• 56:34
Speaker 3: It requires more than just like a quick reference right.
• 56:39
Speaker 3: To abide in a God like you imagine a imagine a father is like.
• 56:44
Speaker 3: Oh yeah, I love spending time with my kids.
• 56:46
Speaker 3: I have a great relationship with my kids.
• 56:48
Speaker 3: Here's how it works Every Sunday, I have them come over and we spend 45 minutes together, and if it runs longer than 45 minutes, I'm really upset and frustrated.
• 56:57
Speaker 3: It's taking too much of my time.
• 56:58
Speaker 3: So they got 45 minutes.
• 57:00
Speaker 3: I allow them to tell me whatever they want to tell me and then, after that, get out of here.
• 57:03
Speaker 3: I'll see you next week, and often we treat our relationship with God in that kind of way.
• 57:08
Speaker 3: But to abide in Christ is to spend time with him, and so, whether you're preaching a sermon, taking Christ with you is not just preparing for the sermon through study and writing and referencing, but also to abide in his word, to abide in him, same thing throughout our day.
• 57:28
Speaker 3: To abide in Christ is to take time.
• 57:32
Speaker 3: The reality is that, again, as we mentioned before, our relationship with God is not transactional or informational.
• 57:41
Speaker 3: The cross proves that our relationship with God is that relational, and relation takes time.
• 57:50
Speaker 3: It's the investment of time, and so, in other words, you want to grow in fruitfulness, slow down your busy life and spend time with your Savior, amen.
• 58:04
Speaker 2: Yeah, and Mark, would you say that one of the hindrances to fruitfulness can sometimes be worldliness?
• 58:12
Speaker 2: And if so, what does that look like?
• 58:14
Speaker 2: Like the Christian who is too consumed with the world to bear fruit for God?
• 58:20
Speaker 2: I mean, we talked about motive, right and all that, but sometimes some aren't even in the game to bear fruit because, Well boy, I don't know if I can put it better than that?
• 58:31
  Speaker 1: That's really good.
• 58:31
Speaker 1: You can see where you're at practically.
• 58:33
Speaker 1: There's a saying you know what kind of a servant you are when somebody treats you like one.
• 58:37
  Speaker 1: I love that.
• 58:39
  Speaker 1: I know a guy.
• 58:41
Speaker 1: He makes it his aim that when he goes inside of a public restroom it's his job to clean the restroom and he tries to keep that level head to pick up trash to, to wipe down the counters and to do whatever needs to get done um is that you, mike, stop it and uh, stop it yeah
• 58:59
Speaker 1: and so the the idea is that when somebody begins to talk down on you oscar's really good at this, right when somebody begins to make fun of him, he just rolls with the punches.
• 59:09
Speaker 1: Right, he's's really good at this, right.
• 59:09
Speaker 1: When somebody begins to make fun of him, he just rolls with the punches.
• 59:11
Speaker 1: Right, he's just really good at man, you don't know the half of it, right?
• 59:14
  Speaker 1: I don't just deserve that.
• 59:15
Speaker 1: I deserve like I deserve it ten times over Oscar, you're dumb.
• 59:18
Speaker 1: Yeah, you're right, I'm really dumb.
• 59:23
Speaker 3: Not as dumb as me.
• 59:23
Speaker 4: You're the sort of guy that believes cows have eggs.
• 59:26
Speaker 4: Wait, so they don't have eggs.
• 59:28
  Speaker 4: No, they don't.
• 59:30
Speaker 4: Sorry, mark, I have no idea where I was going with that.
• 59:32
Speaker 4: It was great though.
• 59:33
Speaker 2: You're saying something good about Oscar self-deprecating whatever.
• 59:36
Speaker 2: Yeah, you guys, this has been happening.
• 59:41
Speaker 2: Last night, rachel pointed out that five times yesterday I totally forgot something.
• 59:48
Speaker 1: You just told us that.
• 59:49
  Speaker 1: No, I'm serious.
• 59:51
Speaker 2: I started to repeat something to my son that I just told him she's like what is going on with you?
• 59:55
Speaker 4: it's happening it's great as you get older, because I was sharing with janet partial the other day.
• 1:00:00
Speaker 2: It's great when you're getting older, when you're getting real old, because everything seems new to you I know what's this uh, toothpaste, that's really a good idea we get to watch the same movie over and over again, not even know we watched it.
• 1:00:11
  Speaker 4: What's this called Ben-Hur?
• 1:00:12
  Speaker 4: How are your?
• 1:00:14
Speaker 3: black and white movie watching he actually doesn't realize he doesn't have a color TV.
• 1:00:22
Speaker 2: All of them are in color.
• 1:00:24
Speaker 3: He's running on the old black and white.
• 1:00:26
  Speaker 1: I remember them.
• 1:00:26
Speaker 1: I purchased Ben-Hur during the Christmas time, so all my kids, everybody can kind of watch it.
• 1:00:31
Speaker 4: And everybody fell asleep.
• 1:00:32
  Speaker 4: They did not.
• 1:00:33
Speaker 1: Yeah, I tried to put it on again.
• 1:00:34
  Speaker 1: They fell asleep.
• 1:00:35
Speaker 2: Isn't that crazy Like?
• 1:00:38
Speaker 2: I still find it very like action-packed, but for that time especially, it was groundbreaking.
• 1:00:45
Speaker 4: You know that whole Chariot race, chariot race, that whole chariot race.
• 1:00:48
Speaker 4: That's because it's real, they aren't CGI, and it's much more impressive.
• 1:00:51
Speaker 1: Somebody died in that chariot race Real life, yeah, wow.
• 1:00:56
Speaker 3: All right On that note.
• 1:00:57
Speaker 3: Sorry, sorry, I don't know why.
• 1:00:58
Speaker 3: That was 90 years ago, man.
• 1:01:04
  Speaker 3: We've been a previous family.
• 1:01:05
Speaker 3: Oh boy, that guy's granddaughter is listening right now.
