A five-year-old boy in Pineville, North Carolina, was fatally stabbed by his own father, Jehaaz-Akil Khaliq Echoles, who broke into their home in the middle of the night. The mother called 911 after hearing him violently shaking the children’s beds; when she found her son, he was unresponsive with severe stab wounds. Echoles fled but was later caught at a nearby Taco Bell. The child died despite emergency efforts, while the mother, grandmother, and another child escaped injury.
