There is a Charleston lore that has been passed down threw many hands. The Gullah Geeche and many other people have told of a story of a Mermaid being kidnapped in Charleston. It started one early morning in July when the started and never stopped, it rained for a month straight. With the mass rain caused mass hysteria.
