- 0:00Welcome to the Be Forever Cool podcast.
- 0:01My name is Rex 45. It's Monday night.
- 0:04We got the crew in the building. We got Lewis, we got Reese, we
- 0:08got TJ. What's going on, fellas?
- 0:10How's everyone doing? We'll start with TJ.
- 0:13Doing good, man. We had a a nice summer, a hot
- 0:17weekend, good weather, a lot of racing everywhere.
- 0:21I mean club racing, you know, Moto American, Moto GP won Super
- 0:25Bike. So it's good to see it all and
- 0:28it's hard to get it all in. But overall, there we go.
- 0:31We kind of racing nice. Nice.
- 0:33That's what's up. Reece and Lewis, you guys were
- 0:36out in Cali. Reece, how was your Well, I, I
- 0:38from the podium standpoint, you had a great weekend, but how are
- 0:41things man? I mean, I can't complain, man.
- 0:46It was a good weekend. Long weekend, three races, you
- 0:50know, for the weekend is a lot, takes a lot out of everybody,
- 0:53the crew and the team before we're all, you know, getting
- 0:56podiums both time, all three times, actually getting on the
- 0:59podium all three times is it's a great success there for us.
- 1:03I mean, we'll take it, right? Right.
- 1:06Should I give you my address so you can send that bonus money
- 1:08this way? I got a wife that's going to say
- 1:15should go look at you like, hey. No, not necessarily.
- 1:20Lewis was good, man. You out there as well?
- 1:22How are things, man? It was good.
- 1:24It was good. The the weekend was good, the
- 1:26weather was great, the turn out was great.
- 1:29So you know, can't really complain.
- 1:31The the, the results were really good overall.
- 1:35You know, a lot of a lot of guys that I cheer for were on the
- 1:37podium in different classes at different steps.
- 1:40But All in all, it was a really successful weekend.
- 1:43And, you know, we'll talk about it more, but you know, events
- 1:46wise and attendance wise, it was a really good event for Moto
- 1:50America. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:52Well, let's start there. Let's talk about the the
- 1:54attendance. And since you guys were there
- 1:57and I was watching and TJ was watching, you know, you guys can
- 2:00talk about it. You know, I, I, we had talked
- 2:03about what Wisconsin was like and the attendance there and how
- 2:06crazy that was. And it sound like this was
- 2:09another great weekend. So what are your thoughts on the
- 2:12attendance? How was that for you, Reese?
- 2:16I mean, overall, I mean, it seemed like the attendance is
- 2:18great. I mean, Lou can probably
- 2:19speculate in the more than I can because he was, I know around
- 2:22more, But from what I what I could see in the paddock and
- 2:27walk around to the, you know, to the truck.
- 2:30I mean, it seemed overall it seemed great.
- 2:32I mean, we had a lot of guys, a lot of fans on the grid walk, on
- 2:35the Pat on the Paddock walk and a lot of VI PS out there.
- 2:39So I mean, it for it seemed like overall, I mean, I actually
- 2:41walked up to the Corkscrew one time and the Corkscrew was
- 2:45actually kind of packed. So I mean, it was seems like
- 2:48overall it was a great, great time out for them.
- 2:50Like I don't think they complain.
- 2:52I think they had about 1000 people on a parade lab doing a
- 2:56parade lab with Wayne Raney. So that's a lie.
- 3:00Yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah, I missed the numbers
- 3:02guy. I mean, is this the kind of
- 3:04numbers you like to see? Well, I mean, let me start by
- 3:08saying that the one big factor that again brought a lot of the
- 3:12crowd was the baggers were there.
- 3:15And you know, I know people who don't like to hear, but facts
- 3:17are facts, man. The baggers were there.
- 3:20Harley-Davidson had a huge, huge set up.
- 3:22There were demo rides for a bunch of different manufacturers
- 3:26and the parking lot was full. And you know, a lot of the bikes
- 3:29that were out there, big percentage were not sport bikes.
- 3:33So, you know, I, I don't kind of poo poo on that because if we
- 3:36can get people out, whether they're racing baggers or
- 3:38hooligans or bicycles, whatever it is to get them out, get them
- 3:42out. But you know that it was, it was
- 3:45packed. I will say that like the parking
- 3:47lot was packed, the bike area was packed.
- 3:50Getting in and out was real interesting, especially on
- 3:53Saturday because of the parade lap.
- 3:55The way they kind of set up the parade lap is if you were in the
- 3:59infield, getting out of the infield, you had to wait for the
- 4:03entire parade lap to go by and there was just a line going
- 4:06around the entire parking lot of people that would just want to
- 4:09do 1 parade lap. But you know, other than that,
- 4:14man, I, you know, I, it's cool to see like these people get
- 4:17this opportunity to ride their bikes, even do 1 slow lap or
- 4:20parade lap around Ludu Gunaseka. You, I know for a fact as people
- 4:24are going up that hill on a, you know, 900 LB Harley-Davidson,
- 4:29like they might, they have a smile from ear to ear 'cause
- 4:31they're like, oh, I'm going to go down the roller coaster.
- 4:33And then they get up there and they're like, oh shit.
- 4:35I'm sure they had like a little bit of a oh shit moment at the
- 4:38top of the hill 'cause it's not your normal little hill.
- 4:41So I was actually looking at the Corkscrew, not hoping anything
- 4:46happens, but anticipating somebody's going to eat shit.
- 4:51But luckily like they actually had a police officer at the top
- 4:54of the hill, like actually slowing people down.
- 4:56So nobody tried to like back in a bagger and end up in the Kitty
- 5:00litter. So it was.
- 5:01It was good though, man, it was a good time.
- 5:04Do you do you think that the Bagger series is going to help
- 5:09our Harley with their numbers a lot and and hopefully put them
- 5:12on in the black? No, I mean there's Harley needs
- 5:17some internal business restructuring more so than just
- 5:20the baggers. The baggers are great because
- 5:22it's American, Americana type racing like this is something
- 5:26that their core fan base can get behind.
- 5:29But for Hardy to get out of the doldrum they're in, it's more of
- 5:32a internal management restructuring.
- 5:34I mean, I think they've had a bunch of different C level
- 5:37executives come in and go out over the past 5-6 years and they
- 5:41just need like a really good C level CEOCMO that knows the
- 5:48industry but is not kind of so narrow minded within the
- 5:52industry, like not so doesn't have so much tonal vision.
- 5:56You have to know your customer, your Harley-Davidson core
- 5:58customer is this particular person, but you also have to
- 6:01understand that that particular core customer is very small and
- 6:06you know, a lot of the customers are aging out.
- 6:08And so Harley has to kind of go back to basics.
- 6:11They have to build a motorcycle that's sub 8000 bucks to get
- 6:16like a new rider interested in it.
- 6:17Because again, if you have to get if a new rider has to go out
- 6:19of pocket 15 grand for Harley, like it's not easy for a new
- 6:23rider to be like, Oh man, I got to you know, I want it Harley as
- 6:26my first bike, but you know, 1516 thousand this Kawasaki
- 6:30Vulcan looks really good. You know, so Harley just has to
- 6:33do a lot of high level business restructuring, put the right
- 6:37people in the right place, go back to their core, make their
- 6:41money off what they make their money off of Brandon
- 6:43Harley-Davidson apparel. You know, having people inside
- 6:46that Harley-Davidson Echosphere where like everything is Harley
- 6:49related. It's like you buy Apple product,
- 6:52you buy Apple product and then you got to buy this other Apple
- 6:54product because you buy that other Apple product.
- 6:56It works great with this Apple product and Harley's the same
- 6:58way you buy a Harley. But then I got to buy a Harley
- 7:00jacket. I got to buy Harley gloves and I
- 7:02got to buy Harley this and there's going to be a Harley
- 7:04bike man. I got to go and all of a sudden,
- 7:06like that's how you kind of and they lost that for a while
- 7:09because they didn't have that right people in place.
- 7:11But I think they, the team they put together now looks like they
- 7:14know what they're doing. And it's going to take a little
- 7:17while, but I think within the next like 2436 months, Carly
- 7:21will be able to start turning it around a little bit.
- 7:23Got you. I got a question for both you
- 7:26and Reese. As far as the the attendance I
- 7:30saw Josh Herron said he sold out of all his merch over the week
- 7:34in attendance to do you guys at Yamaha looking at that saying
- 7:39having similar things to your riders as far as them selling
- 7:42merchants, how's that looking with them selling merch?
- 7:45And then is Dainese kind of looking at, you know, what the
- 7:48tenants is looking like and seeing what's happening, trying
- 7:51to see how you know we may we see a Dainese Harley suit.
- 8:00I'll let you answer first. I mean, I mean just be
- 8:08speculating. I mean talking to the some of
- 8:10the the upper management in Yamaha, I mean, we take notice
- 8:13to, you know, some of the guys, the teams selling merch.
- 8:18I mean, I brought it up it it gives the fan, I mean a lot of
- 8:21fans that come in, they actually want they want a piece of their
- 8:26brand, whether it's Yamaha, Honda, you know, Suzuki,
- 8:29whatever it is. They want a piece of their
- 8:31brand, especially their favorite writer.
- 8:32They just want a something to piece.
- 8:34I mean, it's a lot of times we can't even as as crew, you can't
- 8:39even leave none of your stuff out because it's going to walk
- 8:42away. It's going to walk away.
- 8:44It's gone. You got to put it up, put it up
- 8:46and put it away from somewhere because it's not as on.
- 8:49But I mean, we do take notice of that.
- 8:52I mean, it has been taking notice.
- 8:54I mean, it's kind of getting worked on right now.
- 8:56I mean, it's all up to upper management to see how see where
- 8:59it can go. And I mean, I, I speculated to
- 9:01them. I mean, it's a good thing
- 9:02because when fans come to race, like I said, they just want a
- 9:05piece and that's what they want. They want to take someone home
- 9:08with them saying I've been here, I met this rider and you know, I
- 9:12got it. I got his T-shirt.
- 9:13You know, that's what they want. They want something.
- 9:16Oh yeah. Yeah, on my end, I mean, for the
- 9:20riders themselves, I'm actually trying to get work with a
- 9:24company just to help the riders kind of build their own merch
- 9:28and be able to put some money in their pocket, because building
- 9:31merch on your own is is not easy.
- 9:33I mean, it's a pretty big investment for some of these
- 9:35guys that don't have deep pockets to do it.
- 9:38And then selling at a detract, that's a whole other investment
- 9:41because now you have to pay somebody at the track to be
- 9:43working the booth all weekend. So what we're doing with some of
- 9:47our riders is we're working with this company.
- 9:49The company will make the products for the riders.
- 9:52And the riders will just have like a little QR code on their
- 9:54suits. And if you want some of the
- 9:56merch from the rider, you just scan the QR code on their suits.
- 9:59It'll take you directly to their website.
- 10:00You can order it, it'll get shipped right to your house.
- 10:03And that way you can support the rider because a big percentage
- 10:06of that goes to the riders, a very small percentage goes to
- 10:09making the product in the back end.
- 10:11And this is like something that we worked out with this company
- 10:14And I, you know, it's very important for me for the riders
- 10:17to see a significant chunk of change for everything that their
- 10:20name or their numbers on. And so far we've got a few
- 10:23riders in the program and we're going to, you know, try to get
- 10:27more riders. But again, the other piece of
- 10:29that is some of the teams, depending on what you sign with
- 10:33the team, the team now owns your name, your number.
- 10:37So you can't make, you can't even make money on your own name
- 10:40or number. The team has to make money on
- 10:42it. And if the team doesn't want to
- 10:45make the shirts, then there's no additional income.
- 10:47And if they do, they keep the income because, well, I'm paying
- 10:50you. And this is like one of these
- 10:52weird things where I'm telling a lot of these riders,
- 10:57unfortunately, most of these guys are their own managers or
- 11:00their mom and dads are their managers.
- 11:01And a lot of them are not business savvy.
- 11:04And they're just so happy to be getting paid for their son or
- 11:07their, you know, to, to ride a motorcycle that they'll sign
- 11:09some of these contracts that when you really dig into them,
- 11:12it's like, it's great. You're getting paid.
- 11:14You don't have to pay their, you know, but like this is an
- 11:18opportunity that you're missing here.
- 11:19This is an opportunity that you're missing here.
- 11:21And even within the contract, sometimes there's pieces that
- 11:24are missing that why don't you have this in here for your for
- 11:26your kid? Why don't you have this in here
- 11:28for your kid? You know, and again, it's, it's
- 11:31great because if you came from nothing and you're getting paid
- 11:34to ride a motorcycle, you think you made it.
- 11:36But the people that know sometimes are taking advantage
- 11:39of these people that don't know and they're leaving a lot of
- 11:42money on the table. So we're trying to work with
- 11:44some of these riders to kind of educate them a little bit more
- 11:47before you put your name on that, on that contract, like
- 11:51read it, understand what you're signing, what you're getting,
- 11:54and what you're giving away. Because if you give too much
- 11:56away and like, it's great, hey, I'm going to make 90 grand this
- 11:59year to ride a motorcycle and not pay.
- 12:01But you left another 60-70 grand out there because this company
- 12:06was willing to pay you $30,000 in contingency and this company
- 12:09is willing to pay you 25,000. But since you signed that
- 12:12contract, you can't do any of that.
- 12:15Yeah, now that's a that's, that's, you know, education, you
- 12:20know, financial literacy, you know, these are things that
- 12:24when, when you know, that everyone had to stumble through.
- 12:26We've heard it from Lewis Hamilton all the way down.
- 12:29When, when, when the, you know, parents are in the business and
- 12:32helping them. And you, you can only take them
- 12:34so far. And, and sometimes even that
- 12:36gets a little relationships get severed in that process of, of,
- 12:42of, you know, letting people go and, and that stuff.
- 12:45So it is definitely, definitely crazy, but it's cool what you
- 12:48what you guys are doing and, and helping these writers out or
- 12:50trying to. Let's talk about the race.
- 12:53We'll start with TJ on this, you know, race 1.
- 12:58You know my thoughts when I saw the end of it, I was like, man,
- 13:01Josh might get another, you know, 3 peat.
- 13:04But it was interesting to see what Bobby Fong was doing and
- 13:08stuff like that. I was going to text you Reese
- 13:11and talk trash but I figured oh wait.
- 13:14And lucky thing I didn't, because the weekend turned out
- 13:16pretty good for you guys, so I might have been PJ Jacobs too.
- 13:22Soon, too soon. Too soon.
- 13:25So, TJ, man, did you catch the race and what were your
- 13:28thoughts? I mean, I caught more of a race
- 13:32too, but I mean, I, I always just like Josh Heron, you know,
- 13:37that's one of my favorite guys I've been watching since I was,
- 13:40you know, guy getting into bikes since like 2014.
- 13:43So just watching him do what he's doing, just very
- 13:47impressive. So just just seeing him wins is
- 13:51good to see. But I do also like, you know, my
- 13:54Yamaha guys out there. I definitely grew from Barbie
- 13:57Fong and Jake Kanye. So for what Bobby Fong was doing
- 14:01to keep up in front, it was good to see.
- 14:05I think it was definitely, I don't want to say it was
- 14:07overdue, but you know, I think especially Reese, I know you
- 14:10guys got a room for Bobby to, you know, you know, to try to
- 14:16stay in the front of the pack and prove himself more.
- 14:18I know he's been on different teams and like and and in the
- 14:20past, but over I thought it was the first two races that were
- 14:24really good. Happy for see Bobby and Jake get
- 14:30on the podium. So that was pretty cool.
- 14:34But yeah, I got no complaints about the weekend.
- 14:37I thought it was really good overall.
- 14:39I was, I also was watching some of the other guys like in the
- 14:45Super sport class, you know how Shelton and PJ Jacobson arguing.
- 14:52I thought it was cool bringing some some lifes for a little
- 14:55bit. But.
- 14:57And then there's obviously some incidents going down the court.
- 14:59School people were getting ran over a little bit.
- 15:01So it was a little interesting weekend and seeing the parade.
- 15:07You know, they, they teach you in class that you know, in, in,
- 15:10in Penguin class that, you know, if you fall, just, you know,
- 15:14stay on the ground because you know, bikes are run over
- 15:16something 10 inches or at least. And we we got to see it live.
- 15:21I got ran over before on the track after I crashed.
- 15:23So I know it's, I know it's possible, but for what's, what's
- 15:27McCall to stay up? That was pretty, that was the
- 15:30first time I saw somebody actually stay up after running
- 15:33over someone. So that was pretty well to see.
- 15:35We'll talk about that a little bit more.
- 15:37Lewis, were you you were there in person?
- 15:39I don't know if you saw all of the racing doing all the other
- 15:42stuff you were doing, but what was your thought on race one?
- 15:45Race one and super bike was really I, you know, I thought it
- 15:48was good. You know, I wasn't a super fan
- 15:50of the results because I, you know, there's a couple of guys
- 15:53in that class that I cheer for more than others.
- 15:57But you know, you got to you got to give it to Josh Herron, like
- 16:00he was able to kind of get out in front and especially had a
- 16:02big crash on Friday. So, you know, a lot of people
- 16:04are like wondering, you know, how you going to come back
- 16:06because you know, you're pretty sore the day after a crash like
- 16:09that, whether you have an airbag, you don't have an
- 16:11airbag, you know, breaking it. You're still sore, man.
- 16:13You get whipped around like that.
- 16:14Your head gets whipped around. Your neck is stretched like so
- 16:18it was, it was good to see that even if he was hurt like he did,
- 16:22was well enough to like be very competitive.
- 16:25And I was hoping for slightly better results for the Yamaha
- 16:28team. But it was a good Little Mix All
- 16:30in all. We had, you know, a Yamaha,
- 16:36Ducati and BMW all right there. So it was a good mix.
- 16:40And then the first super sport race.
- 16:43I was super surprised because you know, I, I know Blake's
- 16:46really fast, but you know, I've talked to him a lot of times and
- 16:50you know, sometimes I think he's getting more and more confident
- 16:53in himself because at the beginning of the year he was
- 16:56like, you know, he's raced the Super Sport before on the R6.
- 16:59Now he's on the R9 and he was really competitive on the R6,
- 17:03but now he's like, you know, I'm on the R9.
- 17:06It's a new bike, it's a new team.
- 17:07I have to get ready for these new things.
- 17:10And Matt has been with this team already before, so he kind of
- 17:13knows the dynamics of the team. And then he also starts looking
- 17:17at the starting grid. And it's like super bike rider,
- 17:21super ride, super bike race race winner, super bike race winner,
- 17:25British super bike race winner, super bike race winner, factory,
- 17:28super bike race winner Blake Davis.
- 17:32And I said you can't look at it like that.
- 17:34You know, you got to look at it as this is a great opportunity
- 17:37for you to ride against hands down the fastest guys.
- 17:41It's not you and a bunch of kids fighting each other for milk
- 17:45money. Like now this is like
- 17:46professional league and you got to see how good are you.
- 17:49You know, this is how you prove how good you are.
- 17:52And he's been mixing it up, staying in the top three,
- 17:54staying in the top four, bunch of little podiums here and there
- 17:57and, you know, got a win not too long ago.
- 18:00And then he gets his win Saturday.
- 18:02And when he got his win Saturday, when I spoke to him,
- 18:06he actually was really confident.
- 18:08He's like, you know, I, I actually felt good.
- 18:10I wasn't like I was just riding like I was just going out there.
- 18:13And and I give that a little bit of of credit that to to to his
- 18:17coach Harvey for his because I mean, I see him sitting with him
- 18:22for a long period of time, you know, corner by corner, looking
- 18:25at the data, running things down, explaining to him how to
- 18:28block people that are trying to pass him, how to block pass when
- 18:32he passes people, how to not leave the door open.
- 18:35And you saw in the last lap of the last race again, Camp
- 18:39Peterson, he took a 2 1/2 foot wide R line and he made that
- 18:42shit the size of an 18 Wheeler. Like he, he was everywhere that
- 18:46you wanted to put your bike to try to set up a pass.
- 18:49He made sure his bike was there. And he messed up your, your
- 18:52inside line, your outside line. Like he made that bike 16 feet
- 18:56wide on a 26 wide track. So it was, it was good race
- 19:00craft. And it's good to see a, you
- 19:02know, a young guy like that, like literally man, like growing
- 19:05up right in front of you, maturing right in front of you.
- 19:08Yeah, and you leap some bounds because that was a pretty
- 19:11impressive writing that he was doing.
- 19:13And even in his, even when they were on the grid and he got
- 19:16interviewed, he felt pretty. I mean, most writers say they're
- 19:19going to try to win and stuff like that, but he he sounded
- 19:22pretty confident in that quick interview.
- 19:24And and like he had like he like he had a secret weapon or
- 19:27something. You know, I and he, he went out
- 19:29and did it. He had extra weight on his bike
- 19:32because they added a weight to the R nines for him and for
- 19:35Matthew because of, you know, they said that they were, you
- 19:38know, a little too fast. So they actually added ballast
- 19:40to both of the bikes. What is?
- 19:43What is? The his he's sponsored by like
- 19:46N2 track aids or something like that I think.
- 19:48He's with he just straight with track racing and then that's
- 19:52since he's with track racing, Track racing is the overall
- 19:55team, so everything goes through track racing.
- 19:57He can have his own gear and his own helmet, but then he can't
- 20:00really have a lot of his own personal sponsors.
- 20:03Everything has to kind of come through.
- 20:06The team. So he's got his gear sponsor for
- 20:08his suit, his boots, his gloves and his helmets, but everything
- 20:11else kind of goes through the team.
- 20:13Yeah, no, I really agree with you.
- 20:14He has been riding really well. So he's actually at the Loudon,
- 20:18the 100th Loudon Classic. And I remember this was back
- 20:22when he had the missing tooth. You know, everyone's caught him
- 20:24like he has it. I thought you got it.
- 20:27Fixed. We puts it.
- 20:29We puts it in for interviews. But yeah, he's been riding very
- 20:37well since then. I think he got third place in
- 20:39the classic, you know, got some money and I've been watching him
- 20:42since then and he has been improving.
- 20:44It is nice to see him get a couple of podiums, especially
- 20:48Matt Laguna. So, but that's cool what he can,
- 20:51what he can do. Like when you talk about the
- 20:52contracts, see your real numbers guys.
- 20:54So definitely want to sign something where you can benefit
- 20:59off of, not just just fit in the books, you know, so.
- 21:02Right, right, right. Reese, man, you were there in
- 21:06the paddock the whole weekend. What were your thoughts on race
- 21:10one and were you a little bit worried?
- 21:12I mean, I don't know how you could be worried 2nd and 3rd,
- 21:15but you know, we were a little bit worried.
- 21:18We we, you know, after race one. I mean, race one was good.
- 21:24I mean, you got to give it up to like it, like Lewis said, you
- 21:29got to give it to Josh. You know, you had a a horrendous
- 21:31crash Friday and they come back and and they put it on the
- 21:35podium, you know, and still do what he can do.
- 21:37It's, you know, top class and it's it's it's one of the few
- 21:41that can still do it. I mean, he's one of the, as we
- 21:44call it, the O GS out there and he can still do what he do for
- 21:49for, you know, I wish Bobby was a little bit more aggressive on
- 21:52race one. Throughout the weekend, Bobby's
- 21:57been the fastest and he was the fastest on Saturday.
- 22:02He could have beaten Josh. He just didn't want to stick it
- 22:06up in there on him, which I don't know why, but I mean he
- 22:09came back in race 2 and three and showed that he can stick it
- 22:12up in there. So I mean.
- 22:16That after race one. We gave, now we gave.
- 22:18We gave him some some some good ribbon after race one.
- 22:21We're like, yo man, if I wanted to watch the Marquez brothers,
- 22:24I'd be watching Moto GP. Bro you got to pass the guy.
- 22:26From. You can't just stay in second
- 22:28place and watch your brother win the race.
- 22:32And I said, I said man, oh, shoot, Lou, he said, yeah, I
- 22:34know, man. I need to be a little bit more
- 22:35aggressive. Said I got it.
- 22:36Next time, don't worry about it. I like, I hope so.
- 22:39And I told him, I said, hey, man, Lewis said.
- 22:41He ain't aggressive. He's taking his his levers back.
- 22:43Taking my gear back. Let's let's talk about Cam.
- 22:49Cam crashed. Cam crashed out and then got
- 22:53back on a bike and it's pretty impressive.
- 22:55I mean, he finished 6th overall, but you know, is this something
- 23:00that he he has to stop crashing, right?
- 23:02He got to stop finishing races. I mean, between last year and
- 23:04this year, you know, he's he's definitely been crashing out a
- 23:09lot and he he had the pace. What are your thoughts, TJ?
- 23:15Yeah, I mean, I mean, especially just knowing what you've been
- 23:19through in the past, like the expectations for a lot of people
- 23:23a little higher on him. But yeah, I think he definitely
- 23:26needs to stop crashing. I know last year there's a lot
- 23:30of them out of his own, but I know Laguna Seca, he's from
- 23:34California, so he had a lot of family attending.
- 23:36I don't know if that really effects how he rides.
- 23:39I know he's a pro, so, but if he wants to, you know, stay upfront
- 23:44in contention, you know, you got to get the points.
- 23:47You know, you got to find a way to at least finish, see the
- 23:51checkered flag, get some points and then go from there.
- 23:54I mean, just straight DNF. That's a huge loss, especially
- 23:59knowing how the top guys are running.
- 24:02You know, they're not trying to crash at all.
- 24:03Especially like Josh Herring, you know, Bobby and all those
- 24:06guys. So you know, he, he can do it.
- 24:09I mean, he's he's he's a, he definitely could win a
- 24:11championship, but I don't know how far he is now.
- 24:13I got to check the points but definitely needs to figure out
- 24:17how to stay on. Yeah, yeah.
- 24:20I mean, Cam is fourth in the points right now.
- 24:23He's like 82 points behind the leader, which is PJ.
- 24:26So with with the amount of rounds left like I was.
- 24:29I was talking about Cambodia. I thought you sold by Cam
- 24:33Peterson. My bad, my bad.
- 24:38I mean, Cambodia and Cam Peterson do about the same.
- 24:42They both crash a lot when they hit it and there's a lot of
- 24:45pressure on them to do good. So when you said one Cam, I was
- 24:49like, it's like talking about the same one.
- 25:00You know, what do you how do, how do we stop crashing race?
- 25:02I mean, how does that like, I mean, you know, I know you're
- 25:05not going to give them advice, but if you were.
- 25:10I mean with Cam, I mean he, he was kind of pissed off after
- 25:14race one. I mean, he, he said it to me.
- 25:17I saw him going down the paddock and I asked him what happened.
- 25:19He, he's like, man, just don't fucking know.
- 25:22He, he feels like he just told me.
- 25:25He just doesn't know, you know, normally he knows what happened.
- 25:29He's like, all right, I know what happened.
- 25:30I know what I did. But it's just like any writer,
- 25:33when they don't know what happened, it kind of confuses
- 25:35them. They're like, I don't know what
- 25:36happened. I'm trying to figure out, I want
- 25:37to know what happened so I can correct it, but he just couldn't
- 25:40figure out what happened. I mean, it's if Cam can stop
- 25:44crashing or stop having that misfortune or that little bit of
- 25:48bad luck. I mean, Cam would he'll be
- 25:50dominating the championship. I mean, right now he's sitting
- 25:52second. I checked his more, I checked
- 25:55before we left and I think he's 31 points back behind Josh.
- 26:01But I mean, he's still right there in the championship hunt.
- 26:03I mean, because we still got a good way to go.
- 26:05I mean, the top four guys are all right there.
- 26:10So the championship is still tight as it can be all the way
- 26:13through. If we could stay with the top
- 26:15four guys, which is probably going to be all the way through.
- 26:18I mean, but like Cam, I think I think when we're coming up,
- 26:22we're coming up to Virginia. I think Cam does a good in there
- 26:25in mid Ohio. I think he does good.
- 26:28So I think he's going to be a fourth to be wrecking with and I
- 26:31think he's you can see in his interview he was kind of pissed.
- 26:35And so I think coming these next couple rounds, I think Cam's
- 26:39going to be one of the guys that you got to just be aware of.
- 26:41He's coming. Nice, nice.
- 26:44And you know, the rest of the weekend Yamaha did really well,
- 26:48but let let's talk about Sean Dylan Kelly.
- 26:52What's what like? Is the Suzuki just just just an
- 26:55old machine and they just needed to a different manufacturing
- 27:00there or is it you know some rider situations?
- 27:04No, I mean, if you if you talk to some of the guys that are
- 27:07riding out with the Suzuki's, they'll tell you that the
- 27:09Suzuki's actually have a lot of the tracks.
- 27:12They have the best grip. Like a lot of the riders will
- 27:15tell you, like they'll follow Suzuki in and they're like, man,
- 27:19like you don't hear the traction control kicking in so hard for
- 27:22the Suzuki's, but they're pulling really well.
- 27:25So they've got good grips, man. They just got bad luck.
- 27:27I mean, when's the last time in a professional race that a chain
- 27:31came flying off? Larry Pecker.
- 27:35How long ago was that? Like 10 years?
- 27:37It wasn't. Recent I think it happened with
- 27:39Vignalas. Might have happened with
- 27:40Vignalas in Moto GP. Yeah, but he probably broke that
- 27:43link himself. He was trying to get a contract,
- 27:45bro, you remember that? It's possible.
- 27:54But yeah, but like, you rarely see stuff like that happen, you
- 27:56know, and then he was also battling through injury because
- 27:59he had a crash where he hurt his hand.
- 28:01So for him to be battling up front and then have a chain pop
- 28:04when he was like at least in the top 6, like that's just, you
- 28:08know, like I understand why he got pissed off when he break
- 28:10broke the tail section. Man.
- 28:12I would have like done the same. Yeah.
- 28:14But I don't think there's anything wrong.
- 28:16I mean, the M14 knows how to build bikes, they know how to
- 28:19build winners. They've had they've had a lot of
- 28:21championships and you know, the, the rumor right now in the
- 28:24paddock and then the ether is that for 2027, Suzuki's going to
- 28:28have a new lineup of motorcycles and they're going to start with
- 28:31the big boys. So they're going to have a brand
- 28:33new Gixxer 1000 and it's going to be completely revamped.
- 28:37And then they're going to have something for the Super sport
- 28:39class and they're going to, you know, so they're going to revamp
- 28:41their whole lineup. So you just got to push this old
- 28:43man along another year or so and hope that the new kid that they
- 28:47bring out is competitive, you know, because realistically
- 28:50we're they're still racing on 20 year old technology.
- 28:52I. Was going to say old man, more
- 28:54like grandpa. Dude, it is.
- 28:56Yeah. At this point he's sending his
- 28:58kids kids to college. Still love my Suzukis.
- 29:03I say I do too man but I know that a 2006 Suzuki and a 2017
- 29:09Suzuki are like 98% the same minus an IMU and somebody work.
- 29:14That's it. Same bullshit.
- 29:19So Reese, for you guys, what's the take away for the weekend?
- 29:23Is this a kind of like, you know, it's it's a good stepping
- 29:26stone going into VIR as far as you know, staying on that that
- 29:30number one, the first step or is it kind of like let's see what
- 29:34happens at VIR? No, I mean we take away, we were
- 29:37talking about it on race three. I mean, I mean, we got,
- 29:40everyone's got some good data. I think it's a good stepping
- 29:43stone for us. I mean, we're going into VR with
- 29:45some great confidence. I mean, so with Jake, I mean,
- 29:48everybody looks at Jake saying, oh, you know, does he still have
- 29:51it? But if you look at actual race
- 29:53three, he was running a consistent 24.
- 29:57And the only reason that from what we know, if something
- 30:01happened in the bag once SDK's chain came off, I mean, it was a
- 30:07bunch of oil leak back onto the bike.
- 30:11And Jake kind of kind of rode around it, but he had to take a
- 30:16little bit easy because he thought it was on his tire and
- 30:19he realized it was it was good to go.
- 30:21It was he pushed back up, but it was too late to even try to make
- 30:25a move and do anything like that.
- 30:27But he ran a consistent, he was in a consistent 24.
- 30:31His times were at the top three guys.
- 30:34So we're, we're taking a lot of confidence going into, to the
- 30:37next round and to a lot of data. And you know, I think I think
- 30:43coming into VR is going to be a little different, little
- 30:46different change of the change of the tide.
- 30:48Got you, got you before. I don't know how.
- 30:51I mean, I don't know, TJ, if you saw out of Twins Cup, I want to
- 30:55talk about that a little bit because these young kids are
- 30:57really fast on on a twins cup. It's like they're like, you
- 31:01know, 151670 year olds and then there's like 35 plus at at the
- 31:08back. At isn't that not, isn't it like
- 31:1017 to 23 or something? There's some old dudes in there.
- 31:14I'm like I'm I'm ready. Yeah, you can rate.
- 31:20You can rate for. 55 in in the Twins Cup.
- 31:23Really. Yeah, yeah.
- 31:24So I got like a couple years. I got yeah, I was going to say
- 31:26me and you got like 2-3 years to like get this in before we get
- 31:30we get the cut off now I'm not about to get my ass beaten 13
- 31:34year old. Sorry man, I'll keep my ass in
- 31:38the paddock. Well, you know it.
- 31:39Come on, man, you got to show up.
- 31:41But that's not the reason why I'm talking about.
- 31:42Not because I'm going racing. But you know, what are your
- 31:45thoughts on Chapin Avery? And I can forget.
- 31:52Oh, Mario. Demario.
- 31:54Demario, I mean those guys like I, I think he's just going to
- 31:57run away with it, right? Demario because he's the he's
- 32:00he's. He's he he technically he
- 32:02shouldn't be in that class. He was supposed to have a super
- 32:05sport ride and then it fell apart at the last moment because
- 32:09he was going to do double duty. He was actually going to do
- 32:11twins Cup to defend his plate and do super sport and a super
- 32:15sport thing kind of fell apart, didn't come together and he
- 32:18ended up doing twins and the Kramer Cup.
- 32:22And even in the Kramer Cup, he's kind of running away with that
- 32:24one as well because again, this for his age, he's at the talent
- 32:29level where he should be in that next class up.
- 32:31And it he kind of like stayed in this class because again, he
- 32:34wanted to defend his plate, but he had another opportunity that
- 32:37didn't happen. And you know, Reese will tell
- 32:39you, like in the motor, in the paddock, in a professional
- 32:42racing paddock, only 1% of promises actually ever comes
- 32:46true. 99% of promises never come to to fruition.
- 32:50And this is kind of what happened to him.
- 32:52So like right now he's in this place where he's like, you know,
- 32:56everybody like, you know, it's a little bit cockiness, but dude,
- 33:00I'm winning by 10 seconds. Like I'm just out here riding a
- 33:03track day while everybody else is racing for second and third.
- 33:06You know, I'm hoping somebody sees how good I am and gives me
- 33:10an opportunity on a different in a different class next class up
- 33:13because you know, I'm I'm, what am I doing here, man?
- 33:17Like even though I'm only 16 or 1616 years old, like I need to
- 33:21be in a different class. I can't, you know, I can't keep
- 33:23racing against these guys that I'm beaten by 10.
- 33:26You know, I'm lapping guys less than 8 laps into the race like
- 33:30it's crazy. I think he had that.
- 33:32I think he has a from the rumor mill.
- 33:34I think he has a seat over there at HSBK next year.
- 33:38Nah, nothing. Like I said, 99% of the promises
- 33:41never come to fruition man. Well, he did do it.
- 33:44He did do. It he did a test and then all of
- 33:47a sudden Cam Peterson healed up real quick.
- 33:49I was like, no, no, I'm good, I'm good.
- 33:50I'll be back next week to ride my bike, man.
- 33:52Don't, don't. You don't need to give that kid
- 33:53my bike. Can't lose your seat if you
- 34:02never let the kid ride your bike.
- 34:05Well, remember there is there was supposed to be two, there
- 34:06was supposed to be two riders over there this year, but the
- 34:09other one's here. So that's the rumor mill that
- 34:11that seat that's vegan. He may end up slotting in.
- 34:15OK, I. Mean that was the rumor.
- 34:18Yeah, he, he deserves, he definitely deserves a seat where
- 34:20he can be more competitive for sure.
- 34:22I mean, he's a young kid and he's and he's young kids.
- 34:25I mean, they're going to be coming for a lot of people's
- 34:27seat in the next few years. Honestly, I think there's three
- 34:31kids under the age of 18 right now that they're the, the future
- 34:36Cambodia's Jake Gonyea's of this class, man.
- 34:41Like they're, you know, they're the three or four kids that I
- 34:43see right now that I'm like these three, these 3 or 4 kids
- 34:47are, are, are lethal, man. I I didn't, I didn't get to
- 34:52watch the the Twins Cup, but I was going to say it yet it looks
- 34:56good seeing Mr. Matthew Chapin his second, you know, even
- 35:01though he did 10 seconds behind Demario, but he also had almost
- 35:0610 second gap within in second place.
- 35:09So for him winning last year and did he win?
- 35:15Yeah, he won last year, the Junior Cup, Junior Cup, Junior
- 35:19Cup and then he moved up. So I think he had potential as
- 35:24well. Yeah, no, for sure, man.
- 35:28I mean, again, if you take the Mario out of the the the series
- 35:32between Chapin and Hank Vosberg, which hasn't been in the series
- 35:36that long, like for a kid to just come in, I mean with I
- 35:40think he missed the first 2-3 rounds and just kind of jump in
- 35:43and already right at the top, you know, getting up there in
- 35:45the points. Like those two kids take the
- 35:47Mario out of it. Those two kids are like the
- 35:49fastest kids by far in the Twins Cup, man, by far.
- 35:53Like amazing young kids, man. Pretty wild to see, but let's
- 35:58get into Moto the GP, which is also pretty wild to see.
- 36:02Crazy weekend overall. I could've finished that race
- 36:05and the points, you know that right?
- 36:06I just didn't have to crash. I could've got lap 7 times.
- 36:11I could've leg out lap 7 times and still walk through with a
- 36:14couple of points. You could've crash first.
- 36:17You could've. That's that's the first time in
- 36:20a long time that I've only seen ten bikes finish a race.
- 36:24I'm trying to think. It's been a long time, man.
- 36:27It must have been a rain race. Yeah, because it has to be a
- 36:31rain race, but that what do you think?
- 36:33I mean, they started with 18 riders and, and ended with with
- 36:37with well after with 10. You know that that was pretty
- 36:41wild to see. But what are you guys thoughts
- 36:43on the the Sprint qualifying and and then over our weekend, we'll
- 36:47start with TJ. I mean, so, yeah, I mean, the,
- 36:52the the first time we get out there, everyone just want to see
- 36:55what Mark want to do. But I I feel like the practice
- 36:58and all that went pretty well for the Sprint with the rain
- 37:03coming into play. You know, we all know Mark was
- 37:07going to be Mark. And at this point it's it's
- 37:09really over. He's shown that just to show him
- 37:12the way his class of just even though he got to start a little
- 37:16bit and in the poll and to come back to take from 6th place to
- 37:21manage through the rain and to still get in the 1st place after
- 37:26just 15 laps, you know, so and you know, this just shows this
- 37:32is finesse and his his like how smart he is and what he knows
- 37:38what he has on the table right now.
- 37:40So he knows this is to lose. But I thought overall for the
- 37:46spread that Zacky being back up there was pretty cool.
- 37:50And I think KTM still needs some work.
- 37:53It was tough to see Maverick go down the way he did.
- 37:59So, you know, that was a little blow.
- 38:01And so, yeah, so that was a pipe down for them.
- 38:04And then especially what happened into multi deli, I
- 38:08don't know. Was that in the Sprint of the
- 38:09GP? Yeah, that was the Sprint, Yeah.
- 38:13Yeah. So that was that was tough to
- 38:14see as well, but because he was running good, but overall, you
- 38:20know, Mark Renew was going to take that as his king of
- 38:24saturated. Nice, nice.
- 38:27What are your thoughts? Reese?
- 38:29May Honda look good out there. Zarco in the qualifying, not in
- 38:31the race they fell back, but in qualifying there's some other
- 38:34brands that look good and keep them qualifying.
- 38:39No, I mean they look good. I mean, I got a chance to catch
- 38:41a little bit of the qualifying near the end.
- 38:43I mean, from what I saw, they look real good.
- 38:47You know, it's nice to see other brands up there in the top, you
- 38:50know, in the top place and then competing and wanting to compete
- 38:53and see if they can get back on the top step of the podium.
- 38:57So I'm kind of happy that I saw Luke Marie and, you know, Zarko
- 39:00and all them, you know, qualifying doing a lot better.
- 39:04You know, I wish they I wish it wasn't a big crash fest in the
- 39:07in the race and, you know, to, to see them actually compete
- 39:13with other, you know, brands and not just compete with 10 bikes,
- 39:17you know, but hey, I mean, you take advantage of what you got
- 39:20and, and go from there. I mean, like, you know, TJ said,
- 39:24I mean, at the end of the day, right now, I mean, championship
- 39:27is kind of over. So you're pretty much fighting
- 39:29for a second, third and 4th to see where you're at just to get
- 39:33your performance money. And I mean, that's a big
- 39:36paycheck for them. So Miles will just go ahead and
- 39:39get for it. Lewis, what are your thoughts,
- 39:44man? Over all over all weekend.
- 39:45I mean, I, I, I, I had Mark winning both races, the Sprint
- 39:50race when the rain came down and he had that moment and he ran
- 39:54wide. I was like, oh, maybe, maybe
- 39:56somebody else can take this one. Because in the rain, you know,
- 39:58it's a little bit of a equalizer.
- 40:00And Bez got a really good jump and, you know, Mark had to mix
- 40:04it a little bit to get through some of the riders.
- 40:06But then once he started, get into that open air.
- 40:10And just started putting his head down and I mean I was
- 40:14following him through one lap where Digi was behind him.
- 40:17And when the lap started Digi was only like 1 bike length
- 40:20behind him. And as soon as they got past the
- 40:23triple left handers, like Digi was like 25 bike lengths behind
- 40:26him. I was like this is a wrap bro.
- 40:28Like bro, how do you go how you get 25 bike lengths on the dude
- 40:32that was a bike length behind you in a series of three
- 40:36corners. And it's just like this when it
- 40:38comes to counterclockwise tracks.
- 40:40I looked this morning, he has like a 59% winning percentage.
- 40:44So if there's a counterclockwise track, he's going to win one out
- 40:48of every two races, more than one out of every two races.
- 40:50Like that's a crazy number to think about.
- 40:53Like this dude is going to line up at these 6 tracks because
- 40:55they're 6 tracks that are counterclockwise on the on the
- 40:58schedule and he's the chance of him winning at least four out of
- 41:02the six is better than the chance of anybody else winning
- 41:05even one out of the six. Like that's crazy bro.
- 41:08Make no sense. And then Sunday I kind of like,
- 41:12I kind of knew like if he got some, some clear air in front of
- 41:15him, he was going to be gone. I was surprised that his brother
- 41:18ended up with his brother ended up because remember, he's racing
- 41:21with a broken hand. And you know, that's got to be
- 41:24rough, man, because after a while, I don't care how much,
- 41:27you know, they shoot you up. So you can only numb your hands
- 41:30so much. You still need to feel the bars,
- 41:31you still need to feel the brake lever.
- 41:32So you're going to have to struggle through some of that
- 41:34pain. But lucky for him, Saxon Ring is
- 41:37not a heavy breaking track. So you don't have to put all
- 41:39that extra weight on your hands for that hard breaking zones.
- 41:42So he can kind of give himself like 4-5, six corners before
- 41:46that next heavy breaking zone, because really it's only two
- 41:49heavy breaking zones, the front straight and the very bottom of
- 41:52the waterfalls where you need to break to make the left.
- 41:55Outside of that, it's not like, you know, you come into a first
- 41:59gear turn or anything. So right.
- 42:02Yeah. I mean, yeah, Peck.
- 42:04I mean the the the way he tumbles and sprints man like it
- 42:09makes no sense man. No, it it does.
- 42:12It does not make any sense. You know, we had Vinales,
- 42:17Frankie Oliveira, you know, these guys crashed out and and
- 42:22and I think all of them are, we know for sure of Banalas and
- 42:25Frankie hurt. I think Oliver is hurt too, you
- 42:29know. Mere walk the Wayans gave, yeah.
- 42:32Yeah, mere walk. The new Oliveira.
- 42:37So much fat, you know the new. Oliveira.
- 42:40Listen, I, I, I feel bad for me for sure, and I agree with took
- 42:44him out very apologetic, but I mean, he entered that I agree he
- 42:49entered that corner pretty. Fast he had Yeah, he.
- 42:51He had no chance of making that man.
- 42:53There was no. Chance.
- 42:54None. Like none.
- 42:56Making that that was a wrap. It was none.
- 42:58Which one you think these guys going to be ready after the
- 43:01summer break? Vinales, Oliveira and Frankie?
- 43:04I don't. Know Frankie's left on that one.
- 43:10Frankie's tough, I mean. Frankie, Frankie didn't, but
- 43:13Frankie didn't break anything. You know, it's just, it's just
- 43:17injuries. So like, I haven't heard that,
- 43:19you know, he broke anything. Vinales.
- 43:23He dislocated his shoulder. Right.
- 43:24Just dislocated his shoulders. So like some therapy?
- 43:27I mean you can come back from dislocated shoulder pretty
- 43:31quickly. You just got to be careful that
- 43:32you don't re injure it if you're not going to get if it doesn't
- 43:35need surgery. Just don't.
- 43:37Be like A and yeah, and then Olivera.
- 43:40I mean, he's going to end up hurt again after the first race
- 43:42of the season, you know, So he might as just stay out, bro.
- 43:45Just he needs, he needs a whole side of the garage like blessed
- 43:52or like some sort of like some kind of juju put in, get the
- 43:57spirits out. Yeah.
- 43:59I agree. He needs another Joanne Mia to
- 44:02take some of that juju away from him for sure.
- 44:08After this weekend, do you guys think that Zarko should get that
- 44:12factory seat with Honda? I think it's I think it should
- 44:18be that crashed. I know he crashed out up and I
- 44:20mean, I, I was thinking about this before he crashed out, if
- 44:23he didn't crash out ultimately, but he did crash out, which by
- 44:27himself too, you know. I say he does deserve it, but no
- 44:32I don't. I mean, I'd rather put a younger
- 44:33guy on there because he's older, he can help develop.
- 44:37If you put a younger guy on a non factory, it's kind of going
- 44:41to fade away again, you know, give.
- 44:45Him the factory contract, but just on just keeping where he is
- 44:48out of LCR, yeah. Yes, that's more.
- 44:51That's a lot better. As far as who's going to give
- 44:54Marini's seat, that's still up in the air because, you know,
- 44:57now we got this whole new Aprilia, Hubba Ballou where
- 45:01they're saying that they got a contract and unless, you know,
- 45:04they get a judge to say otherwise or something like
- 45:07Martine's not going to be able to ride for anybody else.
- 45:09And then during the CEO pretty much said the same thing.
- 45:13If he's not riding with a Prelia and there's nothing that legally
- 45:16says that he doesn't have to ride with him.
- 45:18If he doesn't want to ride with a Prelia, we're we won't give
- 45:21him a license to ride anywhere else, right?
- 45:23Right. I think that I think that, oh,
- 45:25hey, Martin should have called up Bazecki and give him some
- 45:29money and tell him to slow down a little bit because, oh, now.
- 45:32Make me look good. Make me look good.
- 45:33Now that the has. Been on the box a couple of
- 45:36times. It's hard to sit here and say
- 45:37it's not competitive. But again, it's competitive on
- 45:41specific tracks just like any other bike.
- 45:43It's the Ducati is the only bike that's competitive on 90% of the
- 45:48tracks. Every other bike is competitive
- 45:49on 807060 depending on the bike. KDM they've got their bikes
- 45:55their their tracks where they're competitive.
- 45:57Yamaha has their bikes and tracks where they're
- 45:59competitive. Ducati is the only one that like
- 46:01weekly at almost every track is at that high level that they can
- 46:05race at every track and be competitive.
- 46:07And so you don't think that Bazecki showing that, that he's
- 46:11been the most competitive on Aprilia as far as being
- 46:14consistent competitive, being competitive where, you know,
- 46:19Alesh, you know, who won here, won there, competitive here,
- 46:22competitive here. But the last few rounds, Bizek,
- 46:25he's been continuously, continuously moving forward and
- 46:28and now he's been upfront for the last since Silverstone.
- 46:31Well, let's see how he's doing after after the break, you know,
- 46:34let's see how he does in the second-half of the year.
- 46:36Because if he can keep that consistency and again, he
- 46:38doesn't have to be in the top five every race, just stay
- 46:42consistent in that top 6-7 every race.
- 46:45You know, don't crash, finish the races, get the points
- 46:48because that's where you're really going to shine apart.
- 46:50Because remember at the beginning of the year, he had a
- 46:52problem where he had really bad starts and then in the middle of
- 46:55the race he was the only one that had pace.
- 46:57But then he was in 18th place and he finished in 12.
- 47:00Now he's not having that problem where he drops back in the
- 47:03beginning. He's able to stay competitive in
- 47:04the beginning, the middle and the end.
- 47:07So maybe they found something because again, he was first
- 47:09year, they got to set the bike up, tried a bunch of different
- 47:12settings. What works for him.
- 47:13Maybe they found something that works for him that now lets him
- 47:16be competitive beginning, middle and end.
- 47:18And let's see if they can carry that over to the second-half of
- 47:20the year. If they, I mean, I would love to
- 47:22see Aprilia up there right at the front with Ducati and
- 47:25another one or two manufacturers.
- 47:27Yeah, I, I don't know what the weather condition was like, but
- 47:30it was the most, he was the most competitive manufacturer until
- 47:32he crashed out against the Ducati in the main race itself,
- 47:36even in the in the Sprint, but in the main race, because I
- 47:39mean, Alex tried to pass him, he got him back.
- 47:43I forget who else tried to pass them and and got them back and
- 47:46and kept and and kept the position.
- 47:49It's just gravity. Meeting bro busy.
- 47:50It'd have been good to see Pretty back on the podium again,
- 47:57but that was unfortunate to see like 3-4 riders go down to Turn
- 48:021. Yeah, that turn one, man, I
- 48:06there must have been oil or something there because there
- 48:08was guys that were crashing before they even tipped in, man.
- 48:11Like it looked like they just got on a brake and the second
- 48:13they hit that brake lever, like the front would just fold.
- 48:16Yeah, like those guys crashing early.
- 48:18Early. Yeah, yeah.
- 48:21I mean, we had eight riders crash out and I mean the worst
- 48:25ones were Bazecki and Dejanantoni, even Acosta because
- 48:29he crashed out early. And lucky thing, that bike dug
- 48:32in in in the in the middle because that could have went
- 48:34back on a track. Yeah.
- 48:38Any thoughts on, you know, outside of oil or anything?
- 48:42I don't think it was oil. You think it was the
- 48:43temperature? Maybe.
- 48:47I think it was the entire temperature.
- 48:53Yeah, actually I can't call. It say again.
- 48:57Recently, maybe his gleaning was too low or something.
- 49:02No, I was saying I'm I'm with everybody.
- 49:05I don't know what was on this heavy summer when I tried
- 49:07because you're not even on Tipping Point yet and you're
- 49:10just crashing out like what's going on with this?
- 49:13That's too many people in one turn.
- 49:17Yeah, no crazy. Lewis, are you guys going to put
- 49:20a clause in more of a Deli's contract there for replace
- 49:25zipper next time and do not force?
- 49:29So they, they Dorner released like a a press release yesterday
- 49:35or something where they grabbed the suit, they did a full
- 49:37inspection of the suit. They can't find anything wrong
- 49:40with it. They couldn't find anything that
- 49:42mechanically was wrong with the suit.
- 49:44So they can't determine exactly what happened.
- 49:46We're going to take the to back, obviously we're going to run
- 49:48through as as many tests as we can as well to see exactly what
- 49:51were the situations, you know, was it not zipped the entire
- 49:55way? I mean, even if it wasn't like
- 49:57it shouldn't have blown apart like that, like you know what
- 49:59exactly with the situations, you know, unfortunately this is part
- 50:03of the racing is, you know, when you're developing new
- 50:06technologies and there is some new technologies in this suit
- 50:09that aren't in previous suits, you know, sometimes you come
- 50:11across things like this, but they can't find anything that
- 50:14was mechanically or structurally incorrect with the suit.
- 50:17So the zipper didn't come apart at the seam.
- 50:21The the zipper literally came apart at the mechanical part of
- 50:23the zipper. So we got it, you know, we got
- 50:25to figure out because it's never happened in that type of
- 50:28situation. Usually it's somebody's doesn't
- 50:30zip it up all the way and it'll become undone.
- 50:32Now, with all the zippers that we have in Moto GP, we actually
- 50:35have Velcro on the zipper pulls and Velcro on the bottom of the
- 50:39collar. And even we use that here with
- 50:41our riders in Mode America now. So when they zip it up, they
- 50:44actually have to Velcro the collar snap to the zipper so the
- 50:48zipper won't pull down. So when they snap it, it's
- 50:50Velcroed in on the top. So can't really come undone.
- 50:53Like you really got to do something stupid to have it come
- 50:56undone. But you know, again, we got to
- 50:58do investigations and this is, you know why we test these new
- 51:02features and things like that. Unfortunately, I'm racers
- 51:05because we know they're going to crash eventually and we're going
- 51:07to see how things hold up. But that's not how that you
- 51:10know, we that's not what we want.
- 51:11That's not what we're looking for at all.
- 51:13So we're going to do a serious deep dive on what happened there
- 51:17and make sure it doesn't happen again.
- 51:19For sure, yeah. Let's talk about KTM.
- 51:23We're not looking at KTM, but like KTM.
- 51:26Let's talk about Benda Fernandez Rinz.
- 51:31I even throw I won't even throw Luca in there, but these three
- 51:33riders because they they finished in the top ten and and
- 51:36obviously some of that was due to some guys crashing out, but
- 51:40Fernandez has been riding really well lately.
- 51:42Can he, you know, be like, can he and I still trying to see if
- 51:45he can save his career and stay in Moto G?
- 51:48Well, he's he has another contract for for next year.
- 51:50So I I it'll be hard. I mean for it for him not to say
- 51:53hard for them to get rid of him, but you know, he does already
- 51:56have a contract for next year. What was most impressive, Reince
- 51:59Fernandez or Bender? I mean Bender was on the KTM, so
- 52:03as long as he stayed up he was collecting points.
- 52:09What are your thoughts on that, TJ?
- 52:12I mean, yeah. I mean, I think Bender, I don't
- 52:17know. I mean, like, I don't, I don't
- 52:18know if Brad just goes out there just to race just because he's
- 52:22got a contract for some reason. Like I don't ever see like him,
- 52:27you know, trying super hard. I know they go through their
- 52:29battles and obviously they have Pedro Acosta and Maverick and
- 52:36and they but you know, I feel like he hasn't really tried hard
- 52:41this season or, you know, you know, it's just just out there
- 52:44riding. So for him to get top ten, yeah,
- 52:46a lot of people crashed out. I don't find that super
- 52:50impressive. It's just kind of where he fell
- 52:52in. I do want to see, you know what
- 52:55we talking about Raul. I do want to see him shine a
- 52:58little better. Like I said, I don't know when
- 53:00his contract's up, but I hate seeing riders come into Motor GP
- 53:05and then and then disappearing. I like to see sometimes a little
- 53:09longevity. So I want to see him step up.
- 53:11We've seen Brad bend it forever, you know, so, so I want to
- 53:15definitely want to see him step up to the plate a little bit.
- 53:20I forget the other racer you mentioned.
- 53:24Who Luca? It was Rinz.
- 53:26It was Rinz. Rinz, right?
- 53:29I mean, when, when, when it was back and when it was Joan Meer
- 53:34and Alice Rinz. I really love that duo.
- 53:37But since then, I think Rinz hasn't had it since then.
- 53:42And here and there he'll get a podium.
- 53:44But ever since I think he broke his leg last year, it's just
- 53:48never been the same. He's just kind of just been 10th
- 53:53or 15th place, you know, or you know, just way in the back.
- 53:57And it's another one that I think it's just I don't know.
- 54:02I don't know if deserves a seat next next year or whatever is
- 54:04contrasting up. So do.
- 54:06You do you do you think with Benda is, is kind of, you know,
- 54:11it's kind of, you know, it's kind of what you know, we say
- 54:14might be going on with with Bagnaya and and you know, even
- 54:20with Raul, with Raul and Aya Guru, as far as Aya guru is
- 54:24doing really well when he came in, Marquez is doing better than
- 54:27back now. Acosta last year with everything
- 54:30was all about Acosta and now he's his teammate.
- 54:34Do you think that Bender is feeling a little bit of, you
- 54:38know, hey, show some love on this side of the the box kind of
- 54:41thing or you, you just think it's something else?
- 54:47I mean, I, I think that probably has something to do with it.
- 54:50I don't know if it's just he wants to be, you know, everyone
- 54:53probably wants to be the star. I probably just want more
- 54:56attention on him. So he's just out there just
- 54:58playing it safe. I'm not sure.
- 55:01I also don't know like if you're developing throughout the
- 55:05season, if you have 4 bikes, like obviously the top 2 riders
- 55:11will get get some new product to test or use for the bike in a
- 55:16race. So I'm not sure if that's the
- 55:19case if they all get it or if it's just Pedro or the best
- 55:21rider or if he's getting some of the new technology.
- 55:26I'm not sure how that works, but it seems like he's not getting
- 55:28anything and he's just always always in the back but it seems
- 55:33always finished. Well, he had a lot of crashes
- 55:36this year, but. Right, right.
- 55:38What are your thoughts, Lewis? Is it pressure from Acosta?
- 55:42We know last year Miller was kind of upset that Acosta was
- 55:45getting parts and he wasn't stuff like that.
- 55:47So I don't know how KTM is doing things on the inside.
- 55:51Is it just, I mean, you know, Brad, Brad was the man when he
- 55:55came from Moto 2, winning the title and coming into GP.
- 55:58He was the man for a long until Acosta showed up, you know?
- 56:03Yeah, but who else was racing on KTM that was at a really, really
- 56:08top level like Miller got? Miller's bounced around all over
- 56:11the place. He's never been consistent.
- 56:13You know, he's been on factory, factory rides where, you know,
- 56:16he can't find that consistency. He's fast at anyone given race,
- 56:21but he's not fast consistently. Binder was just fast
- 56:24consistently. And since he kind of started and
- 56:26came up through the KTM hierarchy, like, you know, he
- 56:29was kind of the most protected rider the KTM had.
- 56:34Now that KT Ms. brought people in from other places that been
- 56:37on different manufacturers and haven't come through the KTM
- 56:40rostrum, I think they were maybe showing them a little bit of a
- 56:43different pathway. Acosta coming over back to KTM
- 56:48'cause he was with KTM in the past and he came into Moto GP in
- 56:52the KTM, but not on a factory KTM.
- 56:56He was on US satellite, satellite.
- 56:58And yeah, so, so now it's, you know, now he's just on a factory
- 57:02bike. He gets a little bit more
- 57:03factory support. But, you know, again, they also
- 57:05see that this kid is the future. Bender's been in the class for
- 57:08quite a few years now. And even though again, once in a
- 57:11blue moon on a rain race on some slicks, he'll win this one off
- 57:14crazy race. But you know, I we don't need a
- 57:17perpetual 7th place racer like we need a guy that's going to be
- 57:20our main guy on our factory team that we can put out there.
- 57:24And at this point, with this many seasons under his belt,
- 57:26Bender shown like, I'm not that guy.
- 57:28I can get you 7 day place on a regular basis.
- 57:31But if you want somebody in the top 4 on a regular basis, you
- 57:34got to look somewhere else. Because at this point I've had
- 57:36so many, so much time on his bike.
- 57:38I haven't proven anything, you know, so and then as far as
- 57:43Renz, same thing, man. I think ever since he broke his
- 57:45leg and that injury last year, you know, he came into Yamaha
- 57:49with the expectation that he's going to have a bike that will
- 57:52handle similar to maybe the Suzuki where he had his most
- 57:55success since he is like one of those really smooth edgier tire,
- 57:59kind of like corner speed riders.
- 58:01Like he's a Lorenzo style rider where corner speed is where he
- 58:04really makes up his ground. But you know, this year the
- 58:08Yamaha doesn't have the best top speed.
- 58:12You know, he hasn't gelled with the bike at all.
- 58:14I mean, you see it in his results.
- 58:15And not that anybody's doing phenomenal outside of Quattarara
- 58:19on the Yamaha, but I mean, he's not even, I mean, Jack Miller's
- 58:22outperforming him on a satellite Yamaha.
- 58:25And you know, so I, I think Renz is probably at the end of his
- 58:28career at this point. I don't think he's going to find
- 58:30another home after this unless he tries World Super bike or
- 58:34something else. I don't see another team hiring
- 58:36him to jump on their bike at his age with his mileage, with his
- 58:40injuries and everything. You know, I hate to say because
- 58:42I really do like him. I think he's a great rider, but
- 58:45you know, we got too many hungry sharks looking for seats.
- 58:49You know, you got to give some of these hungry boys.
- 58:51They are. And I think and the last one,
- 58:53Raul Fernandez, I think, you know, somebody told him he's
- 58:55like, hey, Raul, you got to go faster, man.
- 59:00You, you got to go faster and and don't and take less Kitty
- 59:03litter home with you every weekend or you're going to be
- 59:06looking for another job, you know, supermarket or something.
- 59:09You're going to be packing up UPS boxes or something.
- 59:14I, I, I agree with Renz as far as the, the injury, for sure.
- 59:18I, I, I think that's the unfortunate side with him, I
- 59:20think, but, and I'm not saying it's over, but I think he, he
- 59:24had like I, I, not this last round, but one of the previous
- 59:28rounds. I He was still limping like he
- 59:30like he like he's walking with a limp still.
- 59:32I I think that's, I think that's yeah, every round man.
- 59:37Like I think the, the injury never healed the right way.
- 59:40So I think he's he's got that little like hop in the way he
- 59:43walks. Like I think that's forever now
- 59:45at this point, man, which sucks. Again, these are the type of
- 59:48injuries that can just wreck your career.
- 59:51Like every round I've seen him with a limp, I've never seen him
- 59:54walk straight ever since that injury.
- 59:57Yeah, which is which is crazy before we talk about world super
- 1:00:01bike a little bit. You know, Lewis, you brought
- 1:00:04this up a little bit when you were we were talking about Bobby
- 1:00:06Fong and and not, you know, riding like the Marquez a
- 1:00:10brother. It's pretty blatant that.
- 1:00:14Alex rides harder with other writers than than he does with
- 1:00:18Mark. Is it?
- 1:00:20Is it just me? No.
- 1:00:22No, it's not just. You you're looking at it
- 1:00:27correctly. It's not just you, but I think I
- 1:00:31think those are the only two guys that each other respects on
- 1:00:35the track. I don't think Mark respects him
- 1:00:37on a. Track like that.
- 1:00:39No, no, no. I mean, I'm saying like if you
- 1:00:42look at the way Mark passes Alex, he don't, he don't always
- 1:00:45pass Alex the way he passes other guys.
- 1:00:47Fair. Enough.
- 1:00:48You know, because he's like, he'll be a little bit more
- 1:00:50calculated with Alex if he if he has the time, if he sees that
- 1:00:54the guy behind him is coming up on him too fast, then he will
- 1:00:57make an aggressive move on Mark and like jump it up on the
- 1:01:00inside or I'll break him somewhere or something like
- 1:01:02that. But for the most part, when he
- 1:01:04passes Alex, it's a little bit more of a calculated pass in an
- 1:01:07area where it's like a breaking zone or like he'll you know, he
- 1:01:10doesn't try to like beat him to the apex leaned over and push
- 1:01:14him out of the way. Whereas other guys like he will
- 1:01:17lean, he will beat you to the apex, He will punch you into
- 1:01:21the, the rumble strips like, but again, you, you can't blame
- 1:01:26them. You know, if I, I don't want to
- 1:01:28take money out of my brother's pocket, I don't want to hurt my
- 1:01:30brother and, and same thing and like vice versa.
- 1:01:33I don't want to take money out of my brother's pocket or hurt
- 1:01:35my brother. Now this other dude and I, I
- 1:01:38hurt him, I go in the parking lot, I hurt his family.
- 1:01:42I I go slash his tires if I have to if it makes a difference
- 1:01:44between coming 2nd and thirds. I'm like, I don't give a shit
- 1:01:48at. That point, it's it's business,
- 1:01:51but when it's your family, you know, even though you're working
- 1:01:54and riding for your team, you know, once Mark gets in front of
- 1:01:57him and Mark starts to stretch him, you know, it's not Alex
- 1:02:00letting him stretch him. You know Alex does his thing.
- 1:02:03But when it's them dicing with a certain area like it does, it is
- 1:02:08a little bit more respectful than than than.
- 1:02:10Let's put it that. Way and and we talk about the
- 1:02:12team. If if Alex was on KTM factory,
- 1:02:15they wouldn't be standing for that, right?
- 1:02:18He's like Grassini. Grassini satellite, you know,
- 1:02:22second place all year round is really good for us.
- 1:02:24It's great for a satellite team. I mean, for a satellite team,
- 1:02:28remember, satellite team won last year.
- 1:02:30Yeah. You know, so any satellite team
- 1:02:32would love to be in this position.
- 1:02:34You know, I, I, I'm sure that Grassini would love for him to
- 1:02:37win a few more races because that's some more money in their
- 1:02:39pockets, but even getting 2nd place all the time, that's a lot
- 1:02:44of money in their pockets. Yeah, Oh, yeah, for sure.
- 1:02:47Reese, Alex kind of ride harder with Mark for him to win, right.
- 1:02:52I mean, you you know, he's he's not going to win this year or
- 1:02:56next year if that's the case, if he if he doesn't start treating
- 1:03:00Mark like every other right. I get it.
- 1:03:01Mark is trying to be nice. OK, fine, great.
- 1:03:04But like it does, Alex is always on the losing end of that of the
- 1:03:08races. I mean, yeah, I mean the the
- 1:03:11start winning, he's got to be a little bit more aggressive in
- 1:03:14the passing and pass his brother a little bit harder, you know,
- 1:03:17or sticking up in there, you know, where he can.
- 1:03:21And just like when you see those two ride, you look at him like,
- 1:03:24you know, I respect my my brother and my family.
- 1:03:26I don't want to go in there and hurt him or or push him wide.
- 1:03:30I want him to do good as well. And had the two name of
- 1:03:34Marquez's on the box, you know, like Lewis said then it comes to
- 1:03:37any other writing. He's like, I don't give a damn.
- 1:03:39But you're you're not, you know, you're not a family.
- 1:03:42You're not at this point a level, you know, my me, my
- 1:03:45brother, we train together and my father's out here, you know,
- 1:03:48my father don't even know which which pit box to go into.
- 1:03:51He's like, do I go into my oldest ones or do I go into my
- 1:03:54youngest ones? But.
- 1:03:56But in in, in Alex's defense, when Reese finishes, I got one
- 1:03:59thing. Oh.
- 1:04:01Oh, so, you know, I mean, I, I just say Alex got a little, he's
- 1:04:07got to give it a little bit more, give it just that little
- 1:04:10bit more to get over the edge. And I think he can do it, you
- 1:04:12know, because you're on the you're on the same spec bike
- 1:04:15almost besides, like it's a little less.
- 1:04:19It's not the I think it's on the 24.
- 1:04:22So, you know, give it a little bit more.
- 1:04:29So then what my comment was even though Alex is is, you know, it
- 1:04:33looks like Alex is kind of racing for 2nd place and being
- 1:04:39there's only been a handful of people in the history of Moto GP
- 1:04:42since Mark came into the series that could actually fight with
- 1:04:45Mark on a week in, week out basis for sure.
- 1:04:49You know, so like, think about it.
- 1:04:51Andrea de Vitioso is the only guy that was like week in and
- 1:04:54week out fighting with Marquez for, you know, good.
- 1:04:57Two year period. Three-year period.
- 1:04:59Rossi. Lorenzo.
- 1:05:03That's it, man. Pedrosa.
- 1:05:05Pedrosa. Yeah, but I'm saying.
- 1:05:06But yeah, yeah. Yeah, four guys.
- 1:05:09Handful. Handful of guys.
- 1:05:11So for Alex to just be able to stay there and even try to
- 1:05:14compete at that level, yeah, he gets stretched at at there's
- 1:05:18always that one point in the race when Alex is just like,
- 1:05:21it's I'm going to check out now and I'm going to give myself
- 1:05:24like a 23 second padding. Then I could just coast it in,
- 1:05:28right. You know.
- 1:05:29So it's not, you know, don't think that it's just Alex.
- 1:05:32I really don't want to battle my brother.
- 1:05:34He would love to battle his brother.
- 1:05:35But when when Mark decides like I'm going to pull the pin on
- 1:05:38this, he's pulling. It's not yeah, it's not like
- 1:05:40Alex is like I'm not going to try to push for that extra half
- 1:05:43SEC. I don't have that extra half
- 1:05:44SEC. I don't know where he's pulling
- 1:05:46that out his ass. I'm pushing 100% here.
- 1:05:49And this dude just stretched me by 7 bike lengths in three
- 1:05:51corners. You know, it's just Mark
- 1:05:54Marquez, man. There's only a handful of people
- 1:05:56that can do what he does. And most of those, all of them
- 1:05:59are retired now. And Alex just happens to be this
- 1:06:02year's, you know, placement holder like that guy that's
- 1:06:06trying to trying to trying to compete.
- 1:06:10I think we I think we talked about it before that, you know,
- 1:06:15Alex will probably never beat his brother until his brother
- 1:06:17retires. I don't think he'll ever let
- 1:06:20that happen. Even seem like that during the
- 1:06:22first race of the season where he just let his brother go.
- 1:06:25He's like, all right, you go ahead, let you see how it feels.
- 1:06:28And then just, yeah, I can't let you win yet.
- 1:06:32And and looking at like the brothers that we had in the
- 1:06:35past, like Brad been to Dare and been to Polis, Fargo, Alicia
- 1:06:39Spargo, you know, there's always one that's like obviously better
- 1:06:44than the other. So he kind of like I expected
- 1:06:47kind of the same with with the Alice and Mark and you know,
- 1:06:50through the year Alice had last year is nothing compared to this
- 1:06:54year. He's having a tremendous year.
- 1:06:56Obviously he's on a great bike, but I just hope that he finishes
- 1:07:01well and then obviously to see what he can do next year.
- 1:07:04See, obviously he's a great rider and obviously a great
- 1:07:07rider and he's a great bike to compete.
- 1:07:08But you know, see what Mark did when he was on Versini and that
- 1:07:12wasn't even the best bike. So good, good set, especially
- 1:07:17they they're playing together. If you take Mark out of the
- 1:07:20series, technically Alex is beating the the, you know, the
- 1:07:24two time champion by 5060 points or something like that.
- 1:07:29It's just like, you know, so it's not like he's not beating
- 1:07:33some great riders behind him. It's just that one rider in
- 1:07:36front of him that nobody can beat.
- 1:07:38You know the rest of the other 1819 guys can't beat that one
- 1:07:41guy, right? You know, I, I I agree it's it's
- 1:07:44going to be it's going to be interesting second-half of the
- 1:07:46season for sure. You know, one of the I don't
- 1:07:50know how what's the word and look for how one of the coolest
- 1:07:53things I saw was top rock winning this past weekend and
- 1:07:57the untrue brothers both winning in super sport and Moto 2.
- 1:08:03You know, the the the Turks got to feel good about this past
- 1:08:07weekend. This stock had had to have gone
- 1:08:09up. You know, for the first time, I
- 1:08:12saw Dennis Unchu actually smile. If he's not in first place, this
- 1:08:16dude does not smile. What are your thoughts on on on
- 1:08:20you know, Top rack Dennis Unchu and chat Canon 2?
- 1:08:29So I mean top rack. I'm just looking at the results
- 1:08:31like I was like to practice. He wasn't even 1st and I don't
- 1:08:36think any of his sessions and it's like to go out and just win
- 1:08:41all three races clean. I mean, it's just I don't know
- 1:08:45if the guy's back, you know, he's just paying for his his
- 1:08:50Moto GP season next year and try to win this year as well.
- 1:08:54But yeah, I mean top rock and bull Liga battles, it's always
- 1:08:57good to see. But you know, to win three in a
- 1:08:59row. I mean, it's just like he's guys
- 1:09:02that can't go for a super bike. Kind of a way to stay,
- 1:09:06especially being champ. I didn't.
- 1:09:09Celebration, though. Basically, you got to work with
- 1:09:13the celebrations. I think he had one of the
- 1:09:15coolest celebrations last year. Like he put a wing on his back
- 1:09:19and rolled around. I thought that was pretty cool.
- 1:09:21But I mean, I get what you're saying as far as Dennis
- 1:09:25Dontreau. And although I didn't really see
- 1:09:28like this, this, this like what you're saying, his smile and him
- 1:09:33not smile when he's now winning. But I think he's definitely
- 1:09:37having a good season as well. Lewis on the world super bike
- 1:09:44side. I, you know, I like I like both
- 1:09:47riders that are in the top two man, you know, I, I, I root for
- 1:09:50Bulgar because you know, again, he had he had a really hard time
- 1:09:54for a little bit of time there. You know, even the GP paddock
- 1:09:58not having a ride going to world super sport, that whole thing.
- 1:10:01So I, I do boot fruit for him and I like the fact that this
- 1:10:05championship is so close man. You know, there's only four
- 1:10:08points separating the top two guys.
- 1:10:10These guys are going to battle probably all the way to the end.
- 1:10:13I mean I don't expect this championship unless something
- 1:10:16dramatic happens. I don't expect this championship
- 1:10:18to be resolved before the last race of the year.
- 1:10:21Like I honestly think it's going to come down to like the last
- 1:10:24race of the year between these two because nobody's giving.
- 1:10:27And when somebody gives, the other one pulls back and you
- 1:10:30know, it's it's just it's that yo-yo right at the top.
- 1:10:33And these two guys have just really just separated themselves
- 1:10:36from the rest of the field, man. Like nobody else is on this
- 1:10:39level. Yeah.
- 1:10:40And and it's whoever has the, the, the worst qualifying,
- 1:10:44right. I mean, the better qualifier is
- 1:10:46the one that's is winning and whoever got to come through
- 1:10:49that, the only reason why they're not upfront and fighting
- 1:10:52is, is just because they're coming through the the field.
- 1:10:55Yeah, and I mean the the results are only this close now because
- 1:10:58remember Bouliga got taken out at the last race.
- 1:11:01So you know that gave top rack a bunch of points back.
- 1:11:05And he had an engine failure. And he had an engine failure.
- 1:11:08Yeah. So, you know, that's that's 50
- 1:11:10points right there. You know, now that's not to say
- 1:11:13that top racks going to get away without having some DNFS and
- 1:11:16some other mechanicals. And you know, this is what
- 1:11:18racing is. You know, on any given day, you
- 1:11:20can have the greatest bike and with one lap left, your chain
- 1:11:23brakes, you know, with one lap left, you know, a cylinder
- 1:11:27drops, a valve blows, anything can happen.
- 1:11:30So but I still think that outside of mechanicals, these
- 1:11:33two guys are by far the cream of the crop here, man.
- 1:11:36I mean, what these two guys can do on a motorcycle on a super
- 1:11:39bike, like, I mean, I, I look at it sometime like, man, I don't I
- 1:11:44even if I had the talent, I don't know if I'd be down to do
- 1:11:46that man, that's that's, that's a little scary, man.
- 1:11:49I mean, watching these guys going side by side and dicing it
- 1:11:52up the way they do sometimes and you know, just it's, it's it's
- 1:11:57amazing, man. What these guys can do on these
- 1:11:58bikes is just so unbelievable. Like if you took these guys back
- 1:12:02to the 70s on one of their bikes to any track anywhere and let
- 1:12:06them do a couple of laps, like the entire pit be like, how's
- 1:12:08that possible? And now it's like commonplace.
- 1:12:11It's like every weekend like this is what this is the what
- 1:12:13motorcycle racing has evolved into this unbelievable.
- 1:12:17It's a ballet of gravity, man. It's literally, it's, it's
- 1:12:20gravity defined. It's we're trying to figure out
- 1:12:22how to beat gravity on every single corner using, you know,
- 1:12:25less than 1/4 of inch of rubber on the side of a tire.
- 1:12:28It's, it's wild, bro. I love it.
- 1:12:32That's why we're here, man, We love it.
- 1:12:33What are your? Thoughts, Reese.
- 1:12:37I mean, first foremost, you know, I, I haven't heard it, but
- 1:12:39I got to give a good shout out and good respect to my good
- 1:12:43friend over there. And Garrett, I mean, taking two
- 1:12:45top tens, 8:00 and 6:00. So I definitely got to give a,
- 1:12:49you know, big thanks to him and he got.
- 1:12:52A new contract. Right, with his new contract
- 1:12:55with his team. So I mean that was a very, very
- 1:13:00sporty of him. But with top rack, like man,
- 1:13:05that's just it's like you're you're the king.
- 1:13:09You're you're another Marquez in this this league.
- 1:13:11You know, he can't be touched, can't be, you know, it's just
- 1:13:15dominant, you know, and he wins in dominant fashion.
- 1:13:19You know, to see him win each race this week and I was like
- 1:13:24it. It was almost kind of like I was
- 1:13:28at the point of like just either get a DNFI wanted to see a DNF
- 1:13:32just to see some just to see some drama like I was hoping
- 1:13:36like he crashed at the the engine failure.
- 1:13:40Just give me something just as a.
- 1:13:42Kind of talk. I was running with him until he
- 1:13:44crashed out in Race 1. Alex was definitely running with
- 1:13:46him. He.
- 1:13:47Was. You know, but he.
- 1:13:50Just wanted to see something like I just something's going to
- 1:13:53happen. I'm anticipating something
- 1:13:55happening and nothing happening. I'm like, I ain't this man.
- 1:13:57It's just, it's just dominant, you know, and I'm just hoping,
- 1:14:01you know, I mean, but like Lewis said, I think this is going to
- 1:14:03go, I think it's going to go down to the last race, the last
- 1:14:07round, the last lap, everything. It's going to go down to that.
- 1:14:10I don't think the championship is going to be determined any
- 1:14:13sooner. I think it's going to be
- 1:14:15determined at that last round coming.
- 1:14:18OK, two questions before we get out of here.
- 1:14:22Who should get Alvarez seat and who should get Top Rock seat for
- 1:14:27next season? Oh shit.
- 1:14:37I, I know BMWBMW is looking at Moto 2 riders and Moto GP
- 1:14:42riders. Like they made a press
- 1:14:44announcement that, you know, right now they're not limiting
- 1:14:47their search just to the world super bipodic.
- 1:14:49They're looking at Moto 2 and they're looking at current Moto
- 1:14:52GP riders that might be without a ride.
- 1:14:55Aaron Connett. Aaron Connett.
- 1:14:57Nah, man. Like I said, maybe, maybe we got
- 1:14:59two or three more tattoos. Maybe.
- 1:15:01But I don't think he has enough tattoos right now, man.
- 1:15:05Honestly, man, I think it'd be somebody.
- 1:15:06They want a name. They either want a name or a big
- 1:15:09talent. So it's either going to be
- 1:15:11someone like a Jack Miller or somebody like that.
- 1:15:14That, yeah, that comes with a little bit.
- 1:15:16Of like, yeah, or that was Vince.
- 1:15:23One of them. No, no, no, no, He's right.
- 1:15:27He's like, yeah, yeah, yeah. You know, I'm just saying this
- 1:15:31is the option. Yeah, I mean, that's, I mean I
- 1:15:35can see some Moto 2 riders. I mean, you know, Manzi, it
- 1:15:40would be good. But I don't know if I don't know
- 1:15:42if he's going to stay in the Yamaha family when he moves up
- 1:15:45to Moto super Bike because he shouldn't move up to super bike
- 1:15:48at some point. I mean, you never knew who's
- 1:15:52going to take Ray's seat next year or so.
- 1:15:55Yeah. Oh, yeah, right.
- 1:15:57That's right. He might go somewhere else too.
- 1:15:59Right, Ray? Yeah.
- 1:16:04Rumor mills talking about going back to Honda.
- 1:16:06No Ray Ray supposedly the rumor mills that he's going to end up
- 1:16:10on the same bike with low one of the low side brothers.
- 1:16:14The the the. The VDS, Yeah, He's going to be
- 1:16:18the second, second rider on that.
- 1:16:19Yep. OK, I can see, I can see that.
- 1:16:23Petrucci, should he go to the factory seat?
- 1:16:24I mean, he's doing really well. Third in the standings and too
- 1:16:29old. Yeah.
- 1:16:31Just everybody will see what bike sold.
- 1:16:34Yeah, but you can give it to a younger guy that can that can be
- 1:16:38groomed by Bullocka and like you can Bullocka can help bring that
- 1:16:41young guy up if you get a young guy.
- 1:16:44So once Bullocka leaves, you know you got the next guy
- 1:16:48stepping in the Bullocka seat right in the shadow, and you can
- 1:16:51keep that dominance going, OK? I'm I'm rooting for Petrucci,
- 1:16:57but I feel you. It's it, it, it makes sense And
- 1:17:01and I, you know, I'm saying, hey, I, I doubt he would want
- 1:17:03like a one year contract. So you know, it's, it's better
- 1:17:07to have a two year than a one year, right.
- 1:17:08So I don't think I don't know if you'd go.
- 1:17:10He did one year with Ducati factory and Moto GP so like.
- 1:17:15Lewis said. Man, that one year when a rider
- 1:17:18had that one year 1, you know, year contract, it's kind of hard
- 1:17:23to give it your all because you're at that point where
- 1:17:24you're like, I want to give it my all, but then I don't want to
- 1:17:27throw this shit down the line, right?
- 1:17:31For your contracts only. Well guys, until next time.
- 1:17:36I mean this is pretty dope. Was pretty crazy weekend with
- 1:17:39all the racing I had all my screens I had a race on.
- 1:17:42It was one of the few times I could watch racing from like
- 1:17:455:00 in the morning until, you know, when you guys finished in
- 1:17:48Cali. Right.
- 1:17:50It was good times man, Trust me, I was up early watching the race
- 1:17:55before I went in the to the track so it was a good time.
- 1:17:58No doubt, no doubt, man, it's to be perfect.
- 1:18:01Cool podcast. My name is Rex 45.
