[upbeat rock music] Oh, hello.
0:18
Hello. Hello. Well, hello. Full Spectrum Cycling number 102. On your FM dial. 102. Yeah, we got a... Uh, we used to have a 102 station. Oh, yeah. You were a 102 guy. I was a 102 guy. 102.1. New Rock 102.1.
0:34
102.1 New Rock. How much, uh- New Rock 102.1, then 102.1 WLUM. There was multiple rebrandings during my- How much vocal processing did you get to be like, "It's 102.1"? [laughs] Ooh, my, my mustache- Yeah...
0:50
got stuck in the pop filter. [laughs] Ouch. Ouch. That'll help trim it up. That kinda hurt there a little bit. [laughs] Uh, 50 degrees out again today. Ah. Mm-hmm, mm-hmm. The snow is going away. Nice.
1:06
And into the ground and getting nice and muddy. [laughs] Yes. Yeah, it's, I- Keep up the trails... well, it didn't really last long enough for my taste.
1:13
I would've gone for another couple weeks of cold so we could have some more beach action. Yeah. Now it's just gonna be sloppy beach action. [laughs] It's gonna be high water soon, too. Right on. Uh, so what's goin' on?
1:26
Uh, uh, Jake- JK did some, uh, some dancing in the streets. Yes, yes. [laughs] That was a couple weeks ago. Uh, enlisted for the Rushmore Dance Party in lieu of, uh, Wuckfinster being a virtual
1:43
block party that Rushmore normally DJs. And- I noticed, I noticed the link that you sent gets you in far enough where it's basically at the beginning of your segment. Yeah, I was... That's what I was going for.
1:55
It's, like, an hour something, and it's- Yeah... it's at 11 minutes It's worth watching... 11 minutes in. It's, it's enjoyable. It, it turned out better than I was expecting. [laughs] Nice.
2:02
And even the other portions of the proceedings were pretty fun. I had 'em on, floatin' in the background. Had, like, the Yeti sitting there listening to Overlord or something like that and, you know, swirling a, a fine-
2:16
Glass of whiskey... liqueur. The song was MC5's- Um-... something? Oh, that would... No, it was Stereo MC's Kind of Sad. Oh. Right on.
2:27
And it was enough of an ear worm in the first place, but then [laughs] sitting there doing it. Oh, I can't get it outta my head now. [sings] Just like that. [sings] Yeah, it had kind of a Tripadelica look to it.
2:39
Yeah, yeah. It, it came out really good. I was wondering how it was gonna work out. Stop. Well, check it out. It's in the show notes there, hey. Yeah. So you can see the JK in all of his- Cuttin' a, cuttin' a rug...
2:49
posterized glory. Yeah. Nice. I'm one, I'm one of the four people present. [laughs] Yeah, so- [laughs] What did you get a 10%?... well, uh, now Zito had made some noise about going there, but apparently didn't go there.
3:00
Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. That, that... Careful now, Tony. Careful now. [laughs] Lead. Gotta lead with the cage. [laughs] Well, some interesting stuff happening around the shop. We got a, a funky, um, hand cycle.
3:18
Yes, we do. Ba- basically, it's a, uh, it's a, it's for a wheelchair-bound person that has the hand c- Hand crank... crank on it. It's actually pretty cool. It's got a what? Seven, six speed? Seven, six or seven.
3:32
It's an old-school freewheel thing on it. Different, yeah, yeah. But it's kind of a funky spacing, so I'm gonna have to check it out. He wants to try and somehow electrify it.
3:40
He's getting older, and he is paralyzed from, like, the middle of his chest down, not- Not the waist all the way, huh? Not, yeah, up to- Mm... the middle of his body. So he's, he's got it pretty rough.
3:52
See if we can get something going with that. Throw a picture in there. If anybody has any ideas- Yeah... it's got some interesting stuff going on with it, with how it,
4:00
it, how the brake works, and it, there's a bunch of issues. But maybe we see what we can do. Or we drop it to a single speed since we're e-assisting it. Gives us- Um-... some more options... yeah, we need a brake.
4:11
That's the thing. Gonna have to weld a mount on it- Right, right... if it's gonna use a disc brake. Or a roller drum. Well, can't find one of those anyway. Yeah, I dunno. That, that's tough.
4:19
That's just gonna take a little bit of searching. We'll figure it out. We'll figure it out. Maybe I'll put an e-penis on there. Mm-hmm. Some sort of friction drive action. Penos. E-peni. E-P-nerd. The penos, the penos.
4:32
Ah, I dunno. That might be interesting. This degraded fast, now didn't it? What? Yeah. Yeah. No. Do the e-penis. [laughs] Well, it's gonna degrade faster when we start talking about e-bike-specific shoes from Fizik.
4:45
Come on, no. Yeah, seriously. Ah, that's- Is it chipped? Is it-... you know, marketing at its finest... Fizik launches new e-bike-specific trail shoe.
4:57
I, uh, could not for the life of me wonder or figure out what a e-bike-specific shoe- I know... might be. I was going through it myself and like- If, if they're listening to this, I'm never buying a pair of your shoes...
5:08
they look kinda cool, but- I don't care... just the marketing. Yes. No. [laughs] No. No, yes. And also the- Yes, no? No, yes. So- No. Yes, no...
5:16
my, uh, JK's using those, um, those Catalyst pedals, the big, huge, long ones. Mm-hmm, mm-hmm. So the guy on the pedal in the picture here has his femur basically over the
5:27
crank or the, uh, pedal axle, not his ball of his foot. So maybe it, maybe that's how e-bike riders ride. Oh, is that right? Is there a new form now, too? I guess. I dunno. I'm just not even made for it now.
5:39
It's- I guess I can never ride an e-bike again. [laughs] I won't have... Yes, I don't have the gear. Hey, Chewy was right after all. What the hell? [laughs] He always is. [laughs] Let's face it, guys. Guy's always right.
5:49
Hey, there's a link to that if you wanna check it out and, you know, I dunno, it's in Electric Bike Action Magazine. I just, I don't see anything here saying why it's- That's also terrible Yeah, I don't know.
6:02
I think, uh, there's a lot of electric-- I get more electric bike coverage in my newsfeed now than I do regular cycling coverage. I do too. Yeah. I do too, but that's just 'cause I'm junkie.
6:10
That's, I think 'cause it's, it's more mainstream though. Like, you get it on all sorts of stuff like tech- I-... tech sites and, uh, you know, people are pulling it up that don't normally have cycling on their site.
6:22
I have to find the, the three-wheel phenomenon with the-- that can carry a 400 pound load. Phenomenon. That was Sunday morning. 400 pound load. [laughs] That, it, that is a m- It's a work of art, man.
6:37
All right, w- do you wanna go ug-- do you wanna go ug again? Yeah, give me another ug. Blackburn will be at Walmart now. Come on. Ugh. [laughs] Oh. I, I don't know. I, you know, to be fair- To be fair...
6:56
I haven't used a lot of Blackburn accessories lately. I've been trying to, trying to be with the little guy more than the big guy, but I wouldn't be surprised if somehow- Yes...
7:04
the Walton family got ahold of that through one of their holding companies or something. Right. So... Yep. Well, if-- I guess.
7:13
I haven't been in a Walmart in 30-plus years, and I'm not about to go there for Blackburn now. [laughs] I did see at the bottom of that, [clears throat] that there was a link to, uh,
7:23
Mayor Pete, who's the treasury secretary, being a little more... He, I think he addressed the League of American Bicyclists at the Bike Summit. Mr. Buttigieg? Yep. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
7:36
So he's a born-again bicyclist coming from the- He's treasury? I thought it was Department of Transportation. That would've been- Yeah, that's what I, I thought I said. You said treasury. I said treasury. Whatever. Oh.
7:45
But yeah, Transportation makes more sense. Hey, let's talk to-- trans- transportation. Let's talk to somebody on the phone. Yeah. Welcome to the program caller. Who do we have on the line? It's Seely Dave, gentlemen.
7:56
Hey, Dave. Hey, Dave. There's Seely Dave from up in, well, Seely. [laughs] What's crazy about this- Seely... 'cause I got a message today saying, "Hey, do you think Seely Dave would be on the show today?"
8:05
I'm like, "I don't know." And here he is. Well, here I am.
8:10
Yeah, well, we had kinda talked about giving, uh, uh, Northwoods' Hyperborean report on the second Wednesday, but, uh, with the forecast, I just thought it might be a good idea to give people an update sooner than later.
8:25
Right on. Right on. You're always welcome to call anytime. You don't have to- Well-... wait for the one-month anniversary of a previous call, so. [laughs] Well- I'll start the timer. No, I don't wanna step,
8:36
I don't wanna step on Big Sexy's toes. [laughs] No, no, no. Well, no. So what, what's happening up in the old Northwoods?
8:44
Well, uh, so it's, you know, we had, uh, an amazing, uh, cold snap a while ago with, uh, our lowest temp that we saw at our thermometer here at home was 39 below. Phew. Yo. Um, we, we all survived that up here.
9:00
Um, I kind of enjoy, uh, a little like, you know, extreme- Totally... cold once in a while. Um- Totally... but, uh, it's, it's now swung the other way this, uh, wacky El Niño year.
9:12
Um, we did just get about, uh, six inches of snow, so we had another recent snowfall that's, uh, all our trails are groomed in right now.
9:21
But our temperatures have been getting into the 30s and even upper 40s lately, and the forecast calls for two days of rain in the afternoon next week with temperatures in the upper 40s to 50.
9:37
So I just thought I'd let folks know if... I, I, I'm sure down by you guys, uh, most of the, the f- winter fat bike trails are, are probably closed. Yep. Correct? Yep. They are right now, for sure. Yeah.
9:50
So they're still open here, so if you're dying to get some, you know, uh, last minute, last winter fat biking in on groomed trails, we've still got-- most of our trails are, are fully open and groomed.
10:04
And although it gets probably too warm to ride them in the afternoon, they're, becau- it's been getting...
10:11
You know, it's well below freezing at night still, so you get up in the morning and they're, they're really hard packed and fast. So it's pretty great conditions, um, right now.
10:21
You know, you're up, it's, it's, you know, 27 degrees when you're riding around, so it's warm. It-- you can even ride into the 30s. It, it do- they don't start softening up until a little bit after lunch.
10:32
So, um, so anybody that's looking to get in some of that last-minute, uh, you know, winter fat biking, it's, it's primo right now. Right on. But it won't be for long.
10:42
They'll be, they'll be shutting down here, um, as well. Um, and then I also wanted to touch base on, uh, some of the events. Um, I guess first one coming up is a fat bike.
10:53
Berkey, any of, uh, your crew, uh, coming up for that one this year? Yeah, I'd, I'd... You know, some. I'm not sure who. Uh, I think it, you know... What is the, uh, forecast looking like if it's gonna be that warm?
11:04
Is, uh, does it have enough base to survive? Yeah, you know, it's, they, they've moved up the start time, uh, to start earlier so that they could try to take advantage of, [coughs]
11:17
of some, you know, the colder temperatures in the morning. But like I said, I'm looking at, uh, next week here. Our forecast for next week is 52 and rain on Tuesday. Fif- Monday, fif- high of 52, low 28.
11:34
Um, so that's still like, all, all up until Monday it's, it's above freezing, 39, 39, 41, 48, 52 on Monday. But it's like 12, 16, 27, 32, 28, so it's, it's cold enough to reset the trails at night.
11:51
But once you hit Tuesday next week, it's 40 degrees at night and 52 and raining, and then the next day it's 48 degrees and raining. Yikes. And Thursday 37 and raining.
12:05
Um, Friday 30 s- so the temperatures do start dropping though, so... Oh, Thursday we might get a little snow maybe, 'cause it's only a high of 37.
12:15
And then Friday, high 37, low 18, and I think similar for Saturday, which is race day, right? So, [coughs] um, so
12:25
I, I, you know, if, if they have the early start time and it, you know, everything freezes up at night, I think it, it'll probab- there's probably enough snow, you know,
12:35
packed down on the base at that Birkie trail that, that it'll be okay.
12:39
But if you've ridden it in the past on some of the warmer years like I have, um, you know, some of the hills on Power Line get pretty slushy and you're kinda like sliding all over the place.
12:49
But, you know, it's, it's fun still. Super. Nice. Well, um- So anyway, that's, that's, that- We're gonna- We've got a bunch of other events that are actually on schedule too. Cool.
13:02
Um, uh, so, so CAMBA traditionally has done like some women's weekend mountain bike clinics with a professional coach from up by, uh, um, Marquette Copper Harbor way, and, um, she runs the, the, she runs the clinics up there, their weekend clinics.
13:19
And this year we added a men's clinic. Um, one of them sold, one of the women's clinics sold out right away. The other one is close to selling out, and the men's clinic is close to selling out.
13:28
It'll probably be sold out soon. So anybody that's interested in any of those should sign up like today or tomorrow. Um, those'll probably all be sold out by then.
13:38
Uh, other events that we got going on, um, that y- some people may have seen, the Chequamegon 100 just got announced, so that's the, um, that's the 100-mile race on, all on single track, and it's, uh, kinda run by Terrene Tires and Esther Cycles, Tim Krueger.
13:55
Uh, you guys know him. Sure. Yeah. Absolutely. His, he's from here. His family's from, still lives on, uh, Lake Namakagon, and, uh, he doesn't live here anymore. I think he's in the cities.
14:07
And then his company's based out west, I think. But, um, but h- he and I have been in conversation. So he, he just opened up the registration for that. So that, that race is gonna be...
14:19
There's gonna be an actual race, but not a mass start. So it'll be like a, you know, like a six-hour window on race day. Oh, cool. Race any time during that, that time period.
14:29
And then we're talking about having, rather than, 'cause we can't have that big party like we always have at, you know, Rivers Eatery and stuff like that afterwards.
14:37
So what we're thinking about doing is, um, to g- still give people some value for their money, um, uh, have like a, a race, post-race,
14:49
uh, bag that, you know, that, that you get to pick up that's got some beer in it, you know, a water bottle, T-shirt, something like that.
14:56
Um, and then people can go sort of like off on their own and have their own little mini gatherings with people that are in their bubble. What's the date? So that's June- What's the dates? Yeah, the date.
15:05
That's, that is June, June, June. Where... Oh, shoot, I just had it a while ago. Oh, yeah, June, um, June 19th. June 19th. That's June 19th. So that's... Uh, registration's open.
15:19
Um, uh, just look for it on Facebook, Chequamegon 100 or BikeReg or there's a website, Chequamegon 100. You can find it. Then other events, I'll just whip through them quick. Um, so the BORA Epic is on.
15:31
Registration's open for that. Um, I think it's, it's, lots of people are signing up for that. They're also gonna have some new protocols in place for, you know, safe, uh, racing, but it's an actual in-person, uh, race.
15:46
That's June 5th. And there's a Gravel Epic with that as well. Uh, that race benefits CAMBA Trails, just like the, um, Chequamegon 100 does. Then, of course, the Chequamegon Mountain Bike Festival is, is on this year.
16:01
That's September 18th. And I don't know about you guys, but with the vaccine, um, stuff move along reasonably quickly, I'm pretty bullish on these fall events. Yeah. So, um, so that- I think it's, it's looking good...
16:15
that one might be pretty much back to normal. That would be amazing. You know, maybe wear some masks i- in the, you know, wear a mask in the, you know, expo area, but otherwise kind of back to normal. Um-
16:27
Lots of- The Tour de Chequamegon is on. That's the first weekend in October. Um, so that's October 1st through 3rd, I think. Um, and registration's open for that.
16:39
We're limiting that to 40 people, and, you know, that's bike packing and you're camping in different camp sites, and we'll be... That's, again, late, so I'm feeling good about the safety.
16:50
But, you know, we'll have precautions too where y- instead of everybody eating all at the same place, we'll let people take their food back to their own campground to eat and stuff like that. So- Right on...
17:01
that registration is, uh, open for that as well. Um, so yeah, so clinics, Fat Bike Birkie, you know, Chequamegon 100, BORA Epic, Fat Bi- or 40.
17:14
It's, it's like, I don't know, feels like the world's kinda getting back to normal a little bit.
17:19
Yeah, a lot of the, you know, big music events are looking at September to kinda get back going too, so it's, you know, those have a, a much greater, you know, base of, of, uh, people at them.
17:30
So if, if, uh, if they're looking at it, I would feel pretty confident that September's gonna look pretty decent for cycling outside type events. Yeah. Yeah, I think so too.
17:41
Um, and I'm pretty cautious about this stuff, you know? Um, I'm not a, uh, you know, a denier or, uh, you know, any of that.
17:48
I, I, I'm, I'm cautious about it and, um, you know, we, we were supposed to have an enduro, which is in, in May, which is, you know, a race that you could do relative, relatively safely because, you know, it's not a big mass start, and I just didn't feel comfortable about trying to put it off with, pull, pull it off with the, still the, you know, questionable safety issues.
18:11
So we, we canceled that. You know, I'm, I'm, I'm not... O- our clinics are, are gonna be different.
18:17
You know, we're not having any indoor stuff there- This year for our clinics, which we always had indoor stuff, so we're changing things up with some of the stuff.
18:24
You know, we're trying to take precautions up here, but, um, yeah. But it's, it's pretty...
18:30
You know, the riding's still great and, uh, so like I said, winter's on its way out the door though, so you'll be left with gravel up here, which we got in spades- [laughs]... if you wanna come up for that.
18:41
I- there was a, an article about, uh, Portland that had a bunch of gravel on their roads and they were complaining about it. I'm like, "Well, everybody wants gravel now." Right.
18:50
[laughs] But they're complaining about gravel on their roads. I'm like, "Why don't they all have gravel bikes, for crying out loud?" [laughs] Right. Yeah. So I actually just picked up, um...
19:01
They were made of unobtainium for a while, but I managed to just score some, uh, 45NRTH, uh, uh, Kava, um, studded 29er tires. The, the, um, the Gumwall's version, um, for my Milwaukee 29er.
19:19
So I figured, uh, you know, our, our winter trails have been great this winter, but they aren't gonna be rideable for very long, and so there's... And our mountain bike trails won't be rideable for a while.
19:29
But we have so much gravel up here, but a lot of the gravel roads still stay icy and stuff. So, um, so I picked up a... I spent a boatload of money and bought two of those.
19:41
Yeah, I saw they came off ItemWatch the other day. I ordered a set up for one of our guys that helps out at the shop, so. Cool. Cool. Yeah. They're nice tires. They're nice tires.
19:52
You know, they're not, not too aggressive, um, which you don't really need on the gravel and stuff. Um, but not too heavy. I got the folding ones. They're tubeless ready. They, they were super easy to set up, so. Nice.
20:08
Yeah. A lot of money, but, but great tires. [bell ringing] Uh-oh. Well, top of the hill time right now. Uh-oh. Top of the hill. Top of the hill. Uh, JK got gifted a bottle of some Funken beer wine in or something.
20:23
Uh, Wuk Finter. [laughs] Wuk Finter. From Ray's, Ray's Wine & Liquor over on 89th and North. It is a, it's a Three Floyds beer, isn't it? Yep. Yes. It's a barrel-aged milk stout, imp- or imperial milk stout.
20:38
It's 11.1% on the alcohol-oozy. That's fine. That's why I was like- Giving it the wine nod. Whoa. Yeah, exactly. [laughs] I'm just like, "Here. Let us have... Here, here are some glasses, and have some of it." Whoa.
20:49
Right. Well, one, one bottle's being shared amongst the, the three of us, so. Oh, no, no. These are heavy. One ounce of one bottle is being shared amongst me if I can even get through that. Yeah. Yeah, yeah.
20:58
This is like- While I take a swallow, are you, uh, are you doing libation up there, Dave? Is it an old fashioned? Yes. I'm... I, I hosted the, uh... No, I'm not having an old fashioned right now.
21:10
I hosted, uh, some Sea Walk guys last weekend. They were up here riding, and Kevin from Red Eye Brewing, um, dropped off a couple of crowlers.
21:20
Um, one was a, one was a, a really good hazy IPA which, which disappeared right away. Um, and then I saved a, uh, an Ace of Spades porter, um- All right... which, uh- Go Lemmy... which is 6 point, 6.4% 17 IBU.
21:37
It's, it's pretty tasty. So. This, uh, this- Ace of Spades. Yeah. For Lemmy, I, I don't have Motörhead. [laughs] Probably should, right? Uh, this stuff, this, this Wunk, Wunk Finter? Wunk- Wuk Finter.
21:51
Wuk Finter is actually- It's fuck winter, but not. Yeah, right. Exactly. [laughs] Hey, it's a family show, damn it. No, it's not. [laughs] Um, it, it is got...
22:00
It's pretty sweet on the going in and then it got kind of a coffee overtone to it. Yeah. Doesn't it? Yeah, something. It's, it's interesting. I, I, I will be able to finish this half inch in my glass, but- Oh, yeah...
22:11
no more because it's pretty- It's dense. Yeah... you definitely can tell that it is- Yeah. When you pour it out, it is, it's got a nice motor oil- It's kind of liquor-y... consistency to it. Yeah. Yeah, it sure does.
22:20
Yeah. Dirty motor oil. Wuk Finter. Yes. And it's kinda scared me as I poured it into the [laughs] glass. But it's, it's, you know, pretty tasty. Yeah. I don't normally go- Yeah, it's not the end of the world. Yeah.
22:31
I normally don't go for this dark and this heavy and this whoop. You know, Dave, you were saying about riding in really cold weather. This would probably be a really nice nip in a- Oh, yeah... in a cold weather ride.
22:42
Sounds like it. I don't think it needs carbonation very much at all. Well, it- Doesn't feel like it. Well, boys, I, I, I appreciate you letting me, uh, pop in for a, a little Northwoods update. Right on.
22:54
Like I said, anybody out there looking for their last taste of groomed winter trails, come on up here in the next week or two because it'll all be gone after that. It'll- Unless we get another batch of snow.
23:06
[laughs] Wait, it is Wisconsin after all, Dave. Yeah. Yeah. It's po- it's, I guess, it's always possible. Right on. Right on. Well, thanks, thanks for calling. Um, we'll catch up with you- Okay... down the trail.
23:18
All right, guys. Thanks again. All right. Later. Adios. [mic thudding] I, I almost said I love you when I was gonna hang up. I'm like- All right. Love you too... damn it. Wow. [laughs] We do love you, Dave. Yes, we do.
23:30
I'm not saying I can't say that. I can't bro love you, bro, but- Bro... you know. Bro. Bra. Bra. Bra. When we get our stern new bike, we're gonna call it the Baby Maker. [laughs] Bra. Is that when I like- Okay, bra.
23:40
Okay, bra... when I start saying you're welcome before somebody says thank you? Yeah. I do that a little bit more than I'd like to admit. It's like, no, no, your line was supposed to be, you know, thank you. Thank you.
23:51
So you're welcome. That's why I said you're welcome because, and, yeah. Yeah. [laughs] Yeah. Well- Uh, events around Wisconsin. There's still a couple. There's other events still happening.
24:01
I don't know, um, the 28 Below is the 14th of March. That's, uh, Spearfish, South Dakota there. Oh. You never know- Yeah... what they got going on. You- It could be 28 below. Well, you know what?
24:14
At, yeah, the annual 28 Below. You know what they, you know what they have out there in, in, in droves in South Dakotas? They call it all out there Did it say Earl? They call it all. That's the- But it's Earl.
24:25
[laughs] That's the gravel road. Yeah. [sings] [laughs] That just happens to have- They have a plush out there... they just, they just- Maybe... bathe it in oil from a truck. You know, it's like- [sings]
24:35
I don't know, it's just dirt with oil on it, and gravel. I'm going in the gravel. That sounds nasty. It's awesome. It keeps the dust down. Yeah, but- Keeps your car from rusting... makes an entire mess. Oh, there you go.
24:45
All right, you got that going for you. Yeah. Well, you know, and- Yeah... South Dakota obviously doesn't really care about their environment or- Yeah, of course not... any other stuff out there, so. South Dakota.
24:53
But that, that would be out there in Spearfish Canyon, which is beautiful. I don't know if you've ever been out there, but it's pretty kick- I, I don't believe I have ridden through that area. I've been there, [laughs]
25:02
I think it was when Wendy and I first met, so 20-plus years ago, we went out there and did some mountain biking just outside of Rapid City.
25:10
And we were on a trail, and suddenly there were 70 to 100 cows on the trail with us- [laughs]... and kind of, you know, sort of leaning on you [laughs] and stuff as you're, as you're motoring through there.
25:22
I, I would love that. On some double track. It was, it was cool. I just- I would love that... I got a little bit, you know, gotta just kinda go at the, the pace of the herd so you don't- Right. [laughs]...
25:30
freak them out and they trample you- Sure, yeah... underfoot, you know? It's like I don't want it to be a Led Zeppelin concert or something. They're- They're kinda heavy. Yeah, they're kinda heavy, you know? Yeah.
25:37
They're, they're bigguns. Um, but yeah, I, I would go out there more often if it weren't so freaking far away from here, 'cause it's some kicked-ass riding out there.
25:47
See, all we have to wait now is until 2023, and then we can get the autonomous Volkswagen Buzz, and you and I can just sleep as it drives us there. Yeah.
25:59
I- [snorts] You think that's, you think that autonomous is gonna be good by then? No. No? [laughs] I don't know. If, if we can use the sat- the Chinese satellite GPS system, maybe, but.
26:08
And I'm thinking we just, you know, it'll, it'll get there, though. I kept telling my son that, you know, 'cause he's 14 now, I'm like, "You're not gonna need a driver's license, dude.
26:15
Your car's just gonna drive you around." Yeah, it's not gonna be that. [laughs] That was when he was, like, six. You're, yeah, you see, yeah.
26:22
Now I, I, yeah, the, the prognostications were a little bit on the optimistic side. Was, uh, driving to get the boy tonight, and was talking to Molly that, you know, Cleon's gonna want a car.
26:35
And Molly's first words are, "She better [laughs] drive a stick shift." [laughs] So [laughs] it's like- Well-... you can't text and drive when you got a stick. I'm like- So-...
26:43
"Well, you could, but don't" [laughs] So Sydney learned how to drive, but she did not get her driver's license all the way through college, and she's graduating this year. So I- Nice...
26:51
I feel like that's a win, because- Yeah... that could've been, you know, paying for college is bad enough. Paying for college plus a car for your kid- Right...
26:58
that's, like, just putting, you know- Like twisting the knife blade... like, ball kicking more, you know? Yeah. Twisting the knife blade. Yeah, for sure. Um, I threw up some- Oh. Threw up some [laughs] Are you okay?
27:11
[laughs] I threw up some. [laughs] I, uh, I put some, uh, bikes that we're selling here up on the old website, some demos. [laughs] We got, uh, got a couple. They're not in the shop here. Yeah.
27:23
They're at the other place. Right. Hey, speaking of the other place. How's the other place doing? I'll tell you about these bikes in a sec. Great, great. I can see that place coming.
27:27
Electricity is going in today in the podcast room. Come on. Supposed to be going in the shop next week, too. Oh, nice. So they're actually working at it. I'm super excited now, 'cause work is actually happening.
27:36
[laughs] So I put up a Wyatt Maverick demo. Oh. The one with the Wren kick-banking fork. Oh. Uh, we've got a Maverick- What do you get for that thing? I don't know. I don't even remember. Gotta hit the link.
27:49
You trade Bitcoin for it? Yeah, maybe. Maybe some Cardano. Yeah. Um, a frame only, a medium frame only, silver powder-coated clear thing. And then- Maverick...
28:00
I threw my Chumba Stella Ti up there just in case somebody really wants something cool. That's right. Ice, man. I know. Damn.
28:07
I didn't really ride it as much as I anticipated last year, but that was- That's a gorgeous freaking bike... kind of a screwed-up year. So I have, like, three bikes almost exactly like it, but not quite like it. Mm.
28:18
You know, it's like this- One of these things is like- Well, this year, maybe next year I would get a lot more use out of it- One of these things... but this year we're kind of easing into using again. So it's kinda like
28:29
the heroin's coming back into style. [laughs] The bike heroin. The bike, right, that's exactly what- Oh... titanium is, baby. Bike heroin. Bike heroin. Makes you- Yeah, we're coming up on the, the one,
28:42
the one-year anniversary of the shutdown, essentially. Yeah. Yeah. Because remember, it was that, uh, Justin Timberlake's- Yeah, right... birthday ride.
28:52
It was March 16th is the day that, like, we got the- The music guy... we got the notice from the, the big job that I would normally do. That's, yep.
28:59
It's like, "Don't, don't bo- Yeah, 'cause I remember it was- "Don't bother coming back out to Vegas, buddy, 'cause there ain't no rides." The last sort of- We were slacking... that was the last, the last kinda organized
29:08
pre- Yeah. Hey, here's something to- Pre-pandemic ride was then... here's something to stick in your, your hat for, uh, this year's Justin Timberlake's birthday ride. Todd does not work at Duke's anymore. True.
29:22
Well, he opened his own bar, but- [laughs]... at least you can kinda wander in there if you need to for some reason. Use the bathroom. Right? Where's his new bar? It's, like- Right next door...
29:30
600, not even, 200 feet away. Oh, my God. Really? Yep. Yeah. Yeah. Right on. On Water or is it around the corner? Yeah, on Old Rogues. It's off Water. It's off Water? There yeah? But I don't know. Whatever.
29:44
Off Water, that's gonna be- Whatever. Jesus Yeah, I was conflicted on the, on the, on news of that. Off Water. I was like, "Oh, hey, Sarah's opening a place. Cool." And but with, uh, okay.
29:54
[laughs] Yeah, we'll, we'll reinvestigate this later. Right on. I know I'm petty, but whatever. Well- Keeps me young... I don't have anything more on the show notes. Gotta hold that damn grudge, brother.
30:04
What do you guys got? Keeps you- Anything left? Otherwise, we're outta here. Adios. Thanks for the, uh, chaser to the- Yeah, yeah, yeah Oh, yeah... Old Royal. The third space juice sticks. Juice sticks, yes.
30:15
Which is a nice little- Oh, well, yeah... that's a nice little 4.0- 4%, yes... washy down the thing. Yeah, yeah. Exactly, yes. Yes, consistent. So that, that averages out to only 7.5. Then we're good. Yeah. Yeah.
30:24
Right on. [laughs] All right. All right, everybody. It's just science, guys. Thank, thank you very much for spending another half hour of your very, very busy life with us.
30:33
We'll get it back to you somehow, some way down the road. Yeah, probably. Maybe. [laughs] Tony will give you some, uh, Cardano. Maybe. Crypto. Maybe. He spurned you.
30:41
You could enter for a chance to win Tony's entire wallet. [laughs] Ooh. No crypto spurring on. You are not winning that. We went through that once. You may win a new wallet. All right, next week, everybody. Bye-bye.
30:52
Au revoir. [upbeat music]
