Transcript
- 0:00SPEAKER_02: On Thursday,
- 0:01SPEAKER_02: November 20th,
- 0:02I decided to take a little trip to the Washington Elementary
- 0:06School District to sit
- 0:08SPEAKER_02: in a board meeting.
- 0:09SPEAKER_02: It's been a while since they've seen my face,
- 0:12SPEAKER_02: and I was there to observe the business of the district.
- 0:15SPEAKER_02: I was not aware of the crime that had taken place just the day before,
- 0:21SPEAKER_02: and you know that if I had,
- 0:22SPEAKER_02: I would have signed up to speak.
- 0:24SPEAKER_02: So Washington Elementary School District,
- 0:27SPEAKER_02: for those who do not know,
- 0:28SPEAKER_02: it's back in the headlines again.
- 0:31This time after a repeat sex offender walked onto campus
- 0:35pretending to be a doctor,
- 0:37SPEAKER_02: lured a 10-year-old into an unlocked classroom.
- 0:41SPEAKER_02: This is ridiculous.
- 0:43SPEAKER_02: The justice system has failed.
- 0:45SPEAKER_02: The public education system has failed.
- 0:48SPEAKER_02: Do we just not care about children at all in Arizona?
- 1:05SPEAKER_02: You're listening to the Myth of Education podcast,
- 1:08SPEAKER_02: where we expose corruption in K-12 schools,
- 1:11SPEAKER_02: advocate for student safety,
- 1:12SPEAKER_02: and defend parental rights on school grounds.

- 1:54SPEAKER_02: Of course, you know, I have a clip for you to kick off this episode.
- 1:58SPEAKER_02: Actually, I have two clips.
- 2:00The first one is a powerful speech from one Washington
- 2:04Elementary School District
- 2:05parent who found out about the sexual assault on school grounds
- 2:08from outside
- 2:09SPEAKER_02: sources.
- 2:10SPEAKER_02: And just as a side note,
- 2:11I always like to remind my audience in case this is the first
- 2:14episode that you're
- 2:14SPEAKER_02: listening to.
- 2:16SPEAKER_02: Washington Elementary School District in 2023,
- 2:18SPEAKER_02: they openly discriminated against Christians,
- 2:22voted 5-0 to terminate their student teacher contract with
- 2:27Arizona Christian
- 2:28University for no other reason than the university's stance on
- 2:32biblical marriage
- 2:33SPEAKER_02: between man and woman.
- 2:35SPEAKER_02: At that time,
- 2:36SPEAKER_02: they had three people on the board who identified as LGBTQ,
- 2:40SPEAKER_02: but apparently the lady that we call cat ears has stepped off the board.
- 2:45This crime that we're talking about today took place at
- 2:49Orangewood Elementary School.
- 2:51And the headline said that this happened in a quote unquote
- 2:55Phoenix school.
- 2:57SPEAKER_02: But the truth is, is that the address is in Phoenix.
- 2:59SPEAKER_02: It's definitely a WESD school.
- 3:02SPEAKER_02: Take a listen.
- 3:03SPEAKER_01: I am a parent of a student at the Orange,
- 3:06SPEAKER_01: a seventh grader at the Orangewood Elementary School,
- 3:10SPEAKER_01: which obviously belongs to your school district.
- 3:11And I'm just here to share how disappointed and frankly pissed
- 3:16off I am at the way
- 3:18SPEAKER_01: that this entire matter has been handled over the last 24 hours.
- 3:21SPEAKER_01: A little girl was raped.
- 3:23SPEAKER_01: And what I heard from my school district were crickets.
- 3:29SPEAKER_01: I heard,
- 3:30SPEAKER_01: actually,
- 3:30I received a phone call which directed me to look at an email
- 3:34yesterday at noon.
- 3:35I looked at the email and it said that the school was on
- 3:38lockdown or there was an incident.
- 3:40SPEAKER_01: And then this morning at 8 a.m.,
- 3:42SPEAKER_01: I got another email telling me that a student had been assaulted.
- 3:47I did not find out that a student had been sexually assaulted
- 3:51until I was at KJZZ
- 3:53SPEAKER_01: earlier today,
- 3:54SPEAKER_01: ready to give an interview on a different topic.
- 3:57SPEAKER_01: And one of the presenters was basically speaking to me and telling me,
- 4:01SPEAKER_01: oh,
- 4:01SPEAKER_01: how unfortunate is it that this happened at Orangewood Elementary?
- 4:06My kid goes to Orangewood and I am finding out from the
- 4:11newscaster at KJZZ,
- 4:13SPEAKER_01: not from the school district,
- 4:15SPEAKER_01: not from the members of the governing board,
- 4:18SPEAKER_01: not from the superintendent,
- 4:19SPEAKER_01: not
- 4:20SPEAKER_01: Not from the district's Facebook page.
- 4:23I don't know if there are any other parents in this audience or
- 4:26one other parent in
- 4:27this audience right now who is here because a child was raped
- 4:34at our local school
- 4:35SPEAKER_01: site.
- 4:35SPEAKER_01: This room should be filled with parents right now, and it is not.
- 4:40SPEAKER_01: I think that directly shows you that you all have failed.
- 4:45And it's critical that you all take the steps necessary to fix
- 4:50these issues.
- 4:52SPEAKER_01: Because two parents in a room with, what, 30 open seats is not okay.
- 5:00SPEAKER_01: And at the end of the day, I get it.
- 5:02I saw that an administrator or somebody was put on an
- 5:05administrative leave.
- 5:07SPEAKER_01: And I hope that that's not the only thing that happens.
- 5:10SPEAKER_01: I hope that there's accountability held at the school site.
- 5:14at the school district,
- 5:15because the communication with the parents is obviously not
- 5:17working.
- 5:17SPEAKER_01: So I don't know who your marketing person is,
- 5:19SPEAKER_01: but you should have a conversation with that individual about actually
- 5:22SPEAKER_01: communicating with parents and with you all.
- 5:25SPEAKER_01: Because before this meeting,
- 5:27I went through every single one of your social media accounts
- 5:29to see if you had
- 5:29SPEAKER_01: posted anything about the incident and nothing.
- 5:33So I have never in my 15,
- 5:37almost 20 years working with school districts across the state
- 5:40have encountered a situation where I have not at least been
- 5:44made aware of a
- 5:46SPEAKER_01: situation like this.
- 5:47SPEAKER_01: In Roosevelt,
- 5:49SPEAKER_01: in Murphy,
- 5:49SPEAKER_01: which is one of the worst school districts in the state,
- 5:52SPEAKER_01: they communicate as terrible as it is.
- 5:55And how can it be that we have so many A-rated school sites and
- 5:58the communication
- 6:00SPEAKER_01: is not happening?
- 6:02SPEAKER_01: I realize I'm out of time,
- 6:03SPEAKER_01: but I just hope that you all take this opportunity to A,
- 6:07SPEAKER_01: hold people accountable.
- 6:09SPEAKER_01: and fix your systems because this is not okay.
- 6:11SPEAKER_02: Now,
- 6:11SPEAKER_02: as a point of clarification,
- 6:14the details regarding the severity of this crime are still
- 6:17being confirmed.
- 6:19You'll hear in the next clip that the pedophile performed oral
- 6:22sex on the student
- 6:23SPEAKER_02: before fleeing the scene.
- 6:25SPEAKER_02: It is not yet confirmed whether he will be charged with penetrable rape.
- 6:29Sorry to be graphic,
- 6:30but I want to make sure that the punishment fits the crime.
- 6:33SPEAKER_02: And to be clear,
- 6:34SPEAKER_02: I think that this fool should receive the death penalty,
- 6:37SPEAKER_02: and I'll explain why in the next segment.
- 6:40This next clip that I'm going to play is from a press
- 6:43conference that was led by AZ
- 6:45SPEAKER_02: State Senator Janae Shimp,
- 6:47SPEAKER_02: who's my senator here in LD29.
- 6:50SPEAKER_02: This press conference took place on November 24th.
- 6:53SPEAKER_02: Take a listen to her comments.
- 6:54SPEAKER_00: Hello, everyone.
- 6:55SPEAKER_00: Thank you for being here today.
- 6:57SPEAKER_00: Before I start my prepared remarks, I would like to inform everyone.
- 7:02SPEAKER_00: This was just released per the Phoenix Police Department Form 4.
- 7:07SPEAKER_00: The accused has been charged with sexual assault F2 as well as kidnap F2.
- 7:13SPEAKER_00: The probable cause statement says this,
- 7:16SPEAKER_00: on November 19th,
- 7:17SPEAKER_00: 2025,
- 7:18SPEAKER_00: at approximately 1221 hours,
- 7:21SPEAKER_00: an unknown male asked a female student to go into a classroom,
- 7:26SPEAKER_00: touched her,
- 7:27SPEAKER_00: pulled down her pants,
- 7:29SPEAKER_00: The victim,
- 7:29SPEAKER_00: a 10-year-old female,
- 7:30participated in a dedicated forensic interview at Child Help
- 7:34Children's Center at
- 7:35SPEAKER_00: approximately 1,500 hours.
- 7:37The victim disclosed that an unknown black male was on school
- 7:40campus and told her
- 7:41SPEAKER_00: that he was a doctor who needed to perform tests.
- 7:46SPEAKER_00: The defendant took the victim into an empty classroom,
- 7:49SPEAKER_00: sat her on the floor,
- 7:50SPEAKER_00: pulled her pants down,
- 7:52SPEAKER_00: and performed oral sex on the 10-year-old little girl.
- 7:56SPEAKER_00: The defendant attempted to pull down his own pants,
- 8:00SPEAKER_00: and the victim pushed him,
- 8:01SPEAKER_00: telling him to stop.
- 8:02SPEAKER_00: So for those of you that don't know me,
- 8:05SPEAKER_00: I'm Senator Janae Champ,
- 8:06SPEAKER_00: and I represent Legislative District 29 in the West Valley.
- 8:11SPEAKER_00: To the media,
- 8:12SPEAKER_00: lawmakers,
- 8:13SPEAKER_00: and every Arizonan watching,
- 8:15SPEAKER_00: this is not just another press conference.
- 8:18This is a pivotal moment because today we're confronting a
- 8:21system that failed to do
- 8:23SPEAKER_00: the one thing that it is tasked with,
- 8:26SPEAKER_00: and that is to protect our children.
- 8:28I'm going to be blunt because,
- 8:31quite frankly,
- 8:31sugarcoating is how we got here.
- 8:34SPEAKER_00: The system failed.
- 8:36SPEAKER_00: And when a child pays the price, excuses are not acceptable.
- 8:41SPEAKER_00: We are dealing with a convicted sex offender,
- 8:44SPEAKER_00: someone who broke probation again and again and again,
- 8:48who snuck into an elementary school and is now accused of
- 8:52sexually assaulting a
- 8:53SPEAKER_00: 10-year-old little girl.
- 8:54This individual had already been convicted in 2021 for sexually
- 8:59assaulting a
- 9:00SPEAKER_00: 16-year-old,
- 9:01SPEAKER_00: a 16-year-old with autism.
- 9:03SPEAKER_00: He was assigned only a level two registered sex offender at the time.
- 9:08SPEAKER_00: This is all while being on probation,
- 9:11SPEAKER_00: federal probation,
- 9:12where he was offered a plea deal from the Maricopa County
- 9:14Attorney's Office,
- 9:16SPEAKER_00: probation for the lowest possible charges,
- 9:18SPEAKER_00: a gentle tap on the wrist.
- 9:20given to a child predator who pled guilty to sexual conduct
- 9:24with a minor and who
- 9:25SPEAKER_00: was allegedly involved with human smuggling across our southern border.
- 9:30SPEAKER_00: Since 2021, he violated probation four times.
- 9:34SPEAKER_00: Four times he showed us exactly who he was.
- 9:37SPEAKER_00: Four times the system looked away.
- 9:41SPEAKER_00: Four times the public was told,
- 9:43SPEAKER_00: He'll be fine.
- 9:45And then just days after being reinstated to the intensive
- 9:49probation supervision
- 9:51SPEAKER_00: for his fourth violation,
- 9:53SPEAKER_00: he was able to sneak into a school building,
- 9:56SPEAKER_00: undetected,
- 9:57SPEAKER_00: unchecked,
- 9:58SPEAKER_00: unchallenged,
- 9:59where he pretended to be a doctor and allegedly lured this
- 10:0310-year-old little girl
- 10:04SPEAKER_00: into an empty classroom.
- 10:05SPEAKER_00: That little girl, God bless her, if she ever feels safe again.
- 10:09I just wanted to take a moment to point out how horrible our
- 10:14justice system is.
- 10:16SPEAKER_02: And we're operating off of this DEI protocol now.
- 10:21SPEAKER_02: This is my personal belief,
- 10:22SPEAKER_02: and I'm a black woman,
- 10:23SPEAKER_02: so you can write to me if you feel like what I'm saying is racist,
- 10:26SPEAKER_02: and I'll tell you what's what.
- 10:29SPEAKER_02: But because this man was black,
- 10:31I think that that's the main reason why he was allowed to
- 10:33violate his probation
- 10:35SPEAKER_02: four times.
- 10:36SPEAKER_02: He had been charged with previous sex crimes.
- 10:39SPEAKER_02: against children,
- 10:40SPEAKER_02: no less,
- 10:42and was allowed to take plea deals and basically walk around
- 10:46like a free man.
- 10:47SPEAKER_02: This has led me to coin a new definition for the word intersectionality.
- 10:52SPEAKER_02: And if you don't know that woke word, then you can go look it up.
- 10:55SPEAKER_02: But here's my definition.
- 10:57Intersectionality describes the intersection where the justice
- 11:01system and the
- 11:03SPEAKER_02: education system both
- 11:05SPEAKER_02: fail the most vulnerable in our population.
- 11:08SPEAKER_02: And we have definitely arrived at this point.
- 11:16At the beginning of the WESD school board meeting last week,
- 11:19they had a little parade.
- 11:21SPEAKER_02: I mean, maybe I'm being a little facetious.
- 11:23SPEAKER_02: It wasn't a parade.
- 11:24SPEAKER_02: But they did parade the administrators,
- 11:27SPEAKER_02: teachers,
- 11:28and some students out in front of the cameras to take pictures
- 11:31with their A-rated
- 11:32SPEAKER_02: school signs with the board members.
- 11:36SPEAKER_02: And you know,
- 11:36SPEAKER_02: the first 30 minutes of a board meeting,
- 11:39SPEAKER_02: that's when the public is tuning in,
- 11:40SPEAKER_02: right?
- 11:41Because that's when all of the kudos are being given and all
- 11:44the happy things are
- 11:45SPEAKER_02: being talked about.
- 11:46SPEAKER_02: But the truth of the matter is,
- 11:48SPEAKER_02: if you stick around and you listen to the public comments,
- 11:51SPEAKER_02: that is the most incendiary part of any school board meeting.
- 11:55You will learn a lot about the inner operations of what's going
- 11:59on in a school district.
- 12:01SPEAKER_02: At that point, it's not just about...
- 12:03SPEAKER_02: District business.
- 12:04SPEAKER_02: These are parents and community members who are coming with complaints.
- 12:08And these are eyewitnesses to things that are being done
- 12:11unethically and even
- 12:12SPEAKER_02: illegally in some situations.
- 12:14And these are not things that the board members and
- 12:16administration really want to deal with.
- 12:18SPEAKER_02: So it's one of my pastimes to go to board meetings and speak,
- 12:23to let them know where they're steering themselves wrong and
- 12:26where they're not
- 12:26SPEAKER_02: listening to parents.
- 12:28SPEAKER_02: None of the WESD board members acknowledged the victim,
- 12:32SPEAKER_02: acknowledged the family,
- 12:34SPEAKER_02: acknowledged the outrage that was impending in the community.
- 12:38SPEAKER_02: Basically,
- 12:38board president Kyle Clayton just threw it out there that
- 12:42because the investigation
- 12:43SPEAKER_02: is open that they can't respond to anything.
- 12:46SPEAKER_02: And I just thought that was weak.
- 12:47SPEAKER_02: Just like I think all of the A-rated schools, I think that that's weak.
- 12:52Let me just pull some numbers right now and tell you how this
- 12:57school district is
- 12:58SPEAKER_02: really performing.
- 12:59SPEAKER_02: So I'm gathering these from the WESD 2023-2024 Arizona report card.
- 13:01SPEAKER_02: It says here that 24% overall are proficient in English language.
- 13:03SPEAKER_02: 53% are minimally proficient in math.
- 13:15SPEAKER_02: with only 17% proficiency and then 20% proficiency in science.
- 13:20SPEAKER_02: Basically, minimally proficient is exactly how it sounds.
- 13:24The proficient is where we want the students to be by the time
- 13:27they go into high school.
- 13:29So Washington Elementary School District,
- 13:31by and large,
- 13:32feeds into Glendale Union.
- 13:33SPEAKER_02: And so these students are going into high school
- 13:37Barely able to read,
- 13:38barely able to write,
- 13:39barely able to do math,
- 13:41barely able to do science.
- 13:43SPEAKER_02: But gosh darn it,
- 13:45if WESD doesn't have a resolution to make sure that all the
- 13:50LGBT students are
- 13:51SPEAKER_02: recognized.
- 13:52And then I also saw after this incident that they now have a
- 13:56resolution out there
- 13:57SPEAKER_02: to keep students safe.
- 13:58SPEAKER_02: It's all a charade.
- 14:00SPEAKER_02: Public schools are a joke.
- 14:02And I think that sex offenders know that security is a joke in
- 14:07our schools.
- 14:08SPEAKER_02: They're targeting the children.
- 14:11SPEAKER_02: So not only do we have predators on the payroll,
- 14:13but we also have predators that feel so comfortable as to walk
- 14:16in off the street.
- 14:17Do you know how much confidence it took for this psycho to
- 14:21follow a child inside of
- 14:23SPEAKER_02: the building?
- 14:24SPEAKER_02: Supposedly, there should be cameras and
- 14:26SPEAKER_02: There should be SROs walking around.
- 14:29SPEAKER_02: There should be teachers around.
- 14:30SPEAKER_02: Now,
- 14:30I don't know what time that the student arrived and I have no
- 14:34idea what activities
- 14:35SPEAKER_02: may have been going on.
- 14:36SPEAKER_02: We don't even know why that classroom was unlocked.
- 14:39SPEAKER_02: Basically, I'll just wrap it up by saying this was a failure.
- 14:43SPEAKER_02: in so many different ways.
- 14:45SPEAKER_02: I think that Washington Elementary School District,
- 14:47SPEAKER_02: like most public schools in Arizona,
- 14:50it's a waste of taxpayer dollars and it's just an unsafe place
- 14:54for children to be.
- 14:55SPEAKER_02: Parents need to make arrangements to take their kids somewhere else
- 15:01SPEAKER_02: This incident in and of itself,
- 15:03let alone all of the incidents that came before it and will
- 15:06probably be revealed
- 15:07SPEAKER_02: after this,
- 15:08SPEAKER_02: this is an emergency.
- 15:10SPEAKER_02: This is an epidemic of predators.
- 15:13SPEAKER_02: Now,
- 15:13I said at the top of the episode that I would explain why I
- 15:17think that this child
- 15:17SPEAKER_02: predator is
- 15:18SPEAKER_02: This pedophile should get the death penalty.
- 15:21SPEAKER_02: I'm not a district attorney.
- 15:23I'm not coming from a place of having studied the Constitution
- 15:26extensively,
- 15:27SPEAKER_02: having studied state law extensively.
- 15:30SPEAKER_02: I'm not a judge.
- 15:31SPEAKER_02: I'm not a litigator.
- 15:32SPEAKER_02: But if this person...
- 15:34SPEAKER_02: has repeatedly violated probation,
- 15:38has raped a 16-year-old who had special needs and was just in
- 15:44the process of raping
- 15:45SPEAKER_02: a 10-year-old,
- 15:47SPEAKER_02: I really don't think that this is a person that can be rehabilitated.
- 15:50SPEAKER_02: This is not a person that needs to be on the outside.
- 15:53SPEAKER_02: To me, this person is a terror.
- 15:55So I just want to say to Washington Elementary School District
- 15:58and all the school
- 15:59SPEAKER_02: districts in Arizona,
- 16:01SPEAKER_02: those A ratings are
- 16:03SPEAKER_02: are trash.
- 16:04SPEAKER_02: You know it.
- 16:05SPEAKER_02: I know it.
- 16:06SPEAKER_02: We know it.
- 16:07SPEAKER_02: They know it.
- 16:08SPEAKER_02: Arizona public schools are the excrement of public education.
- 16:13SPEAKER_02: So as far as I'm concerned, you all deserve a big fat F.
- 16:24SPEAKER_02: Do you agree or disagree with my take?
