- 0:17I'm your host, Kathie Owen.
- 0:21I have been a certified fitness trainer and certified life coach since 2002.
- 0:27On this channel, we talk about entrepreneurship having a growth mindset.
- 0:32Building healthy habits, fitness and Reality Transurfing let's get into the episode.
- 0:38Enthusiasm is week one in the virtue building 12 week program that we build off of each week to enhance our lives.
- 0:50And enthusiasm is week one.
- 0:52And enthusiasm is one of the best ways to start this plan because enthusiasm is your mental vitamin.
- 1:01This week.
- 1:01I want you to pretend every single day it is smiley face day.
- 1:07Now before you turn away and say, oh my God, we're going off into toxic positivity.
- 1:13Remember.
- 1:14I come from a place of authentic positivity, and I teach from a place of power instead of force.
- 1:21Which comes from the book Power vs Force by Dr.
- 1:24David Hawkins.
- 1:25And I'll have a link in the show notes and description to that.
- 1:29But what is smiley face day?
- 1:31So.
- 1:32You can randomly play smiley face on your calendar at the beginning of the month and call that smiley face day.
- 1:40But when smiley face day arrived.
- 1:44Be determined to have a happy day and make everyone around you happy.
- 1:50I would translate this into random acts of kindness.
- 1:53This created what is coined the helper's high, you know, like the runners high.
- 2:00Because trust me, chemicals are released into your brain that have you have the happy or"helpers high." Smile at every one you see.Greet things with enthusiasm.
- 2:13Watch your world change.
- 2:15There actually is a lot of positive research on what this can do for you.
- 2:20It is good for your body.
- 2:22Enthusiasm has been shown to increase self esteem, empathy, and compassion.
- 2:27And improve your mood.
- 2:29It can decrease blood pressure and cortisol, which is a stress hormone.
- 2:36People who give of themselves in a balanced way, tend to be healthier and live longer.
- 2:41And kindness can increase your sense of connectivity with others, which impacts loneliness.
- 2:47Improves low mood and enhances relationships.
- 2:51It can also be contagious.
- 2:54It is also good for the mind.
- 2:56Enthusiasm can positively change your brain.
- 3:00Feeling enthusiastic boosts, serotonin and dopamine, which are neuro-transmitters in the brain that give you feelings of satisfaction and wellbeing and cause the pleasure rewards of your brain to light up.
- 3:13Endorphins, which are your body's natural painkiller are also released.
- 3:18Be kind and enthusiastic to yourself.
- 3:21It is not just how you treat other people, but how you extend those same behaviors and intentions to yourself as well.
- 3:31Now onto our quotes of the week and things to contemplate, which are also listed in your download of the week that you can find at kathieowen.com/ virtues.
- 3:46Quotes and thoughts for the week with enthusiasm, your desires, turn into burning desires.
- 3:52Enthusiasm, as I said, is your mental vitamin.
- 3:56Act enthusiastic and fake it till you make it.
- 4:00I know that can sound kind of toxic or whatever, but I'm going to talk about that a little bit more in just a minute.
- 4:07Did you know that when you smile or think about enthusiasm, it simply changes your body chemistry.
- 4:14That's what I mean by fake it till you make it.
- 4:17Don't force it come from a place of power.
- 4:21Enthusiasm and positive attitudes are contagious and yield.
- 4:25Great outcomes.
- 4:27Flaming enthusiasm backed up with common sense and persistence most frequently makes for success.
- 4:33If you can maintain enthusiasm long enough.
- 4:36It will produce anything.
- 4:39Remind yourself of that.
- 4:40If you can maintain enthusiasm long enough, it will produce anything.
- 4:45Remind yourself to act enthusiastic.
- 4:48Others will catch it and it will overcome any trouble you may have.
- 4:53Enthusiasm is powerful.
- 4:55Tell yourself I feel healthy.
- 4:57I feel happy.
- 4:58I feel terrific as opposed to, uh, I don't feel good today, or man, I'm in a bad mood and I just feel awful.
- 5:08Those things are affirmations.
- 5:10What you state will come to be.
- 5:14Smile all the time.
- 5:15It tells your brain that you are enthusiastic and it improves your face value.
- 5:22So, let me tell you a story about enthusiasm.
- 5:24I spent several Christmases all by myself.
- 5:28And if you read my book, The Truth Bubbles Up, you will understand how I found enthusiasm.
- 5:34By spending Christmas all alone.
- 5:36But I came from a place where there was a lot of drama.
- 5:40A lot of narcissism.
- 5:41And so when my Christmases were taken from me, with my kids, I chose to look at it with enthusiasm.
- 5:50What do I mean by that?I chose to look at it from a positive aspect.
- 5:56So I looked at my definite chief aim, to create something that's bottom line.
- 6:01What my definite chief aim is to create something that is benefit to me and benefit to others.
- 6:09So I started creating kathiesfitblog.com in 2007.
- 6:13On Christmas day, I get charged for that URL.
- 6:16I chose to look at Christmas alone.
- 6:19With enthusiasm.
- 6:20So I sat there and I started a project and I just started working on it, told myself this is just another day I stayed off of social media because that would just dampen my enthusiasm.
- 6:36Another thing is I have huge compassion for people who have to spend holidays alone.
- 6:42Because maybe they haven't made that mindset shift.
- 6:45And I have been there.
- 6:47And.
- 6:48So I'm very cautious about what I put on my social media, family pictures.
- 6:54Things like that because.
- 6:56I have more compassion for the people that see that, which brings them triggers.
- 7:00And I so get that and I feel so, so bad for them because here's how I used enthusiasm because I remembered.
- 7:09The Christmases I did have with others was so much drama and so much.
- 7:15It was horrible.
- 7:16I saw some of the worst kinds of abuse take place inside of families and it was not happy.
- 7:24It was not healthy.
- 7:26And from there.
- 7:29When I did spend Christmas alone, I can look back on those and go, man.
- 7:33Some of those were the best Christmases ever, because Christmas tends to bring out the drama and others.
- 7:39'cause they get triggers.
- 7:41There's triggers everywhere for all of us.
- 7:43And.
- 7:44It can bring back bad memories and it can bring back good memories.
- 7:49But when I look back at those Christmases, I spent by myself, I think.
- 7:53Oh, man, that was some of the best Christmases ever.
- 7:57And I invite you to have the choice of enthusiasm.
- 8:01You're not forcing it on yourself.
- 8:03You choose it.
- 8:04And when you choose it, you look at everything differently.
- 8:08All right.
- 8:09That's my episode for today.
- 8:10I hope you liked it.
- 8:11If you know someone who can benefit from it.
- 8:13Please share it with them.
- 8:15And until next time I will see you next time.
- 8:18Peace out and Namaste.
