- 0:23Old Startland. I am Scottie, i am the singer of Terrestrials. I'm
- 0:28Adrian, I'm playing guitar, I'm lead, I play bass. Beautiful guys,
- 0:33thanks for joining us today. Thank you. So. Terrestrials are about
- 0:38to release your debut album, Iridescent on December the eighth, so not far
- 0:42away, guys. How are you feeling pretty Pantain's it's something that we have
- 0:47been working towards for a copy of amount of time. Now, we'll probably
- 0:54about a corner of the way through during all the Pandemics stuff, and you
- 0:58know, we're starting to had a bit of momentum happening at that point.
- 1:00So it's, yeah, it's been a bit of a journey, but where
- 1:03I think it's that extra extra bit satisfying to get through it, having to
- 1:08have a little bit of resilience and yeah, work a little bit harder to
- 1:12get there. But yeah, tell us a bit more about the album from
- 1:18a musical point of view and what are you're going for with its kind of
- 1:22like we just did a lot of songwriting over the years and it's the best
- 1:26off, but it kind of it all fits together still quite a while ago.
- 1:33Lee put together like some order, and we've kind of worked that into
- 1:40the album a bit with quite a few transitions actually, so it kind of
- 1:46I wouldn't say these songs are that proggy, but the album kind of feels
- 1:49a bit proggy. Yeah, I guess this moment moments, moments are pro
- 1:55It's yeah, it's like Frog Green parn that. I'd say it still all
- 2:00Sanry Brock. That sounds Esthetically, it's a different you know. I mean
- 2:07we didn't did not owe a few different genres a little bit. It's just
- 2:12just to touch so just to keep them interesting for us. And yeah,
- 2:16it seems to be accessible to people sorts of music they wouldn't normally get to
- 2:22this and to in a sort of hard drop format. I think it's I
- 2:27almost think the the albums sort of got something for multiple people to launch onto.
- 2:32It's musically, it's obviously heavily inspired by prog, but it's we sort
- 2:39of dip into multiple genres in a way that it works as a as a
- 2:45whole. We mentioned that this was your debut album, guys, So what
- 2:49are some of the things that go through your head when when going into a
- 2:52debut album. What do you sort of want to get right, what do
- 2:53you want to do? I think as I do and touched on for all
- 2:57the all the transitions. It was really very thought out. We wanted wanted
- 3:01it to feel like in a world where music is very single orientated, we
- 3:07wanted to we wanted to hold you know, kicks to that old tradition of
- 3:13making a full album that someone can listen to from the start and finish.
- 3:15And it really makes sense, tense why everything is in its place, Everything's
- 3:22got a everything's got a moment in time in that album. What is what
- 3:29some of the themes running through the music on there? You got particular things
- 3:31to the album? Or is every song sort of stand on the same merit
- 3:36like lyrically? Yeah, self reflection, personal growth and empowerment. Hence the
- 3:45cover, it's sort of embodied self discovery and almost like metamorphosis I suppose not
- 3:53the image itself, but it's like developing as a as a human going through
- 4:00although the image was a fly fucking itself, to be honest, let's go
- 4:06with that. You can write that. So you've realised the singles are hollow
- 4:14hands, triggers and perennial trials to day, So are they you? Good?
- 4:17Sunny? Representation of what to expect overall, I guess so, but
- 4:23also there's there's a lot more to uh lot more variance to expect. I
- 4:28think we're sort of sort of got like the issue different genres. I suppose,
- 4:33like the sort of there's a popular song in there, there's a hard
- 4:36Mark song. Yeah. I guess those three singles felt like like they've represented
- 4:46each of those different sort of feelings of vibes, but they're certainly more more
- 4:54themes musically to experience. The most recent single, High Hands, features lots
- 5:00of wacky inflatable men in the video kind of through that what was going on
- 5:04there? When did that even't start? It was started from a brainstorming session.
- 5:12Yeah, I think we've always thought that they were in there. It's
- 5:15just like the inflatables you've seen. Yeah, I think I think I saw
- 5:19one online just from Amazon the cheap. I don't know why it was advertised
- 5:24to me, but I thought it was great. So I got nine of
- 5:27them and we started. We're just like brainstormed a much stupid ideas that we
- 5:32thought would look funny, and we actually had like probably enough footage to make
- 5:38another video. God. Yeah, so we had to cut down a lot,
- 5:42but we still thought it was pretty funny. But they were just so
- 5:44dumb and hilarious that we had to use it someone and I missed the band
- 5:47meeting where we was filming What Park, so I got to give birth to
- 5:53one so famous I'd run through the press all these guys. That refers to
- 6:03your ability to create intensely dark, melodic moods through subtle heats of prog rock
- 6:10and metal on the album. Like, I know, I didn't write it,
- 6:12but it sounds fucking good. Like what do they mean by that?
- 6:15And I guess we sure it's sort of shifts throughout feelings and vibes. We're
- 6:19going to really stick to one sort of one sort of feeling or move We'd
- 6:28like to express ourselves differently, I suppose musically, lyrically, emotionally, everything.
- 6:35Somehow, it all still sounds like us, even even of the song's
- 6:40moods changed quite a bit. I think we just sound like terrestrials, which
- 6:46is just cool. I think it's a big part of that because all our
- 6:49influences are quite different, so having them all mixed together just creates something a
- 6:56little bit different. I think, like, also, we want to to
- 7:00encapitulate the fact that not everybody feels like listening to the same thing or playing
- 7:04the same thing every day. I mean, there are a lot of bands
- 7:08that doing that and that's taniche and that's cool. But for us, we
- 7:11sort of we wanted to express ourselves in these different styles of music because we
- 7:16don't ever just want to do the same thing all the time. Yeah,
- 7:20I guess the diversity of music and themes is the overarching thing there with that
- 7:28particular quote, it's also an element of just fun in playing that variety of
- 7:35music, kind of like what if what if we sort of missing in this
- 7:39song because it feels like there's something lacking and we'll try seven eight different and
- 7:45then something will be kind of juxtaposed in a way but it works at the
- 7:49same time, or we'll just sort of sit with it for a while and
- 7:53go, yeah, that's a really fun section of this song, and it
- 7:57just keeps things interesting for us as well. And then once once we're sort
- 8:01of vibing like that, kind of like how do we make it as accessible
- 8:05as possible and seeing what's as possible within the song, and then yeah,
- 8:11just sort of a lot of it's expressing ourselves and enjoying ourselves rather than writing
- 8:18with a specific thing in mind. It's just that felt right, so we
- 8:22work on it. So it's all about being authentic. And you recently played
- 8:28a Melbourne show with Suck a Punchback in November, mate, So how was
- 8:31that show fucking great? Yeah? They absolutely wrong play a fucking great So
- 8:39it's really awesome to hang out with and play with. So I think this
- 8:43is a beautiful time played with them, so we got to know them a
- 8:48little bit. Yeah. I feel like our brother's in a way because we
- 8:54played him some times. I think our style of music and our levels of
- 9:00bitter miror theirs in some ways I think we have We maybe have a little
- 9:05bit more serious moments, but I feel like they're fans gel with us fairly
- 9:09well. So we're a good match. And the room was vibing like it
- 9:16was. It was pretty full. It's good energy and we need that.
- 9:18We were in three good one and I think we played really well. I
- 9:22think we felt like gay it was. It was a great time. Yeah.
- 9:26We also launch hands at night, so we had a six foot way
- 9:30you go up on stage. Yeah, so slapping out good fun. Got
- 9:37asked the kick questions after what was that all about? Did manage to punch
- 9:43out? Maybe maybe us a couple of times? Yeah? How did you
- 9:48got to us? We've got We've got an album, Laus from the sixteen
- 9:56I keep getting confused. Sixteen of this is Embart Saturday at the Top in
- 10:01town in right in the middle of Melbourne, absolute on Swanson's Free. So
- 10:07we'll be playing with a couple of mates. Bands who are awesome, a
- 10:13band called Figures, like a hard hard rock alternative band who's been run for
- 10:18a while. Santia and Crystal Leans. So yeah, work for full band
- 10:22line up and absolutely parts for it was twenty twenty four shaping up for trust
- 10:28yours. Guys, what do you got playing? Well, we've already got
- 10:31some office to play some shows, so that's promising. We'll be trialing a
- 10:35new dramma soon and then we'll smash out as many shows as we possibly can,
- 10:41hopefully jump on someone's tour if anyone's out there, I want to want
- 10:43to take us on tour with it. We're wearing to go. I think
- 10:48that'd be gay a support slot on tour. That's fine, Collo right,
- 10:56boys, Well, thanks very much for your time today. Your debut album
- 10:58are sent. He's out of December eighth, so best what I've heard of.
- 11:03But she's a cracky guard so I've been at guys well for her legend.
- 11:07What's the man? I'm heaving and then myself out from under the landlide,
- 11:50deladed with a little rush of luck. You'll delight internalize and ruin ship.
- 12:03Never got a kid on this stage, minimizing its wren and I can
- 12:09make joice go of the that's oons. Don't to fail the way that I

- 13:13I couldn't make the choice. Do the s that you own? Don't so
