- 0:06Speaker 1: Hey folks, welcome into the Irish Tears podcast. Just on
- 0:10Speaker 1: the other side of Week eight of the season. Unfortunately
- 0:15Speaker 1: not the best week for our Pittsburgh staters, falling twenty
- 0:18Speaker 1: to ten at home to the Jacksonville Jagguars. Jags moved
- 0:21Speaker 1: to six and two in the season, Steelers falling the
- 0:23Speaker 1: fourth three. And I guess first of all, just welcome
- 0:26Speaker 1: in Dave with no Jimmy today, but they have luck
- 0:29Speaker 1: regardless a result. It's always good to see you speak
- 0:32Speaker 1: to you man.
- 0:33Speaker 2: And not the best, no, really really not. You know,
- 0:41Speaker 2: the injuries, the injuries are really backing up now. You know.
- 0:44Speaker 2: Menka went off injured obviously, Kenny's you know, is having
- 0:48Speaker 2: issues with his ribs. I can't remember. The other high
- 0:52Speaker 2: profile Deontay Johnson took another knock. So it's really you know,
- 0:57Speaker 2: I suppose you haven't really feel sorry for yourself, like
- 0:59Speaker 2: you have to just get on, you know, it's part
- 1:00Speaker 2: of football and you just have to, you know, react
- 1:03Speaker 2: to the injuries. And unfortunately, just on the offensive side,
- 1:05Speaker 2: we weren't able to react it. And when, for example,
- 1:08Speaker 2: your your quarterback gets injured, you have to be able
- 1:10Speaker 2: to rely on your own game and we just you know,
- 1:12Speaker 2: it was no existing yet again, so that must be
- 1:15Speaker 2: positive about but you know what, we'll always try and
- 1:17Speaker 2: you know, pick ourselves up as a moose.
- 1:21Speaker 1: I think, you know, first off, obviously the game against
- 1:24Speaker 1: the Jaggs was the first game in a free game
- 1:28Speaker 1: home run, so clearly when you're playing at home, you
- 1:31Speaker 1: want to use that to your advantage. And unfortunately it
- 1:34Speaker 1: just it just didn't happen. And I don't think there
- 1:36Speaker 1: was any point really did, especially in the second and
- 1:39Speaker 1: third quarter where I thought to myself, like, we can
- 1:43Speaker 1: come back and do this, And I think that is
- 1:44Speaker 1: probably the the sort of the line for me. I
- 1:50Speaker 1: was actually quite surprising, and obviously thousands of miles away,
- 1:53Speaker 1: but just seeing how bad the weather looked really really
- 1:56Speaker 1: bad on the day, Like once I see now, I
- 1:58Speaker 1: was like, oh no, here we go, yere we go.
- 2:01Speaker 3: I was.
- 2:01Speaker 1: I was listening into the radio on off the ball
- 2:04Speaker 1: and yeah, look, when things happen and you just sort
- 2:09Speaker 1: of have an idea that it's not going to go
- 2:10Speaker 1: your way, I think that's when you sort of know,
- 2:12Speaker 1: like you mentioned there the injury to make it Fitzpatrick,
- 2:16Speaker 1: and I think just whatever that happened, it just sort
- 2:19Speaker 1: of went, didn't, you know, like it was hard to
- 2:21Speaker 1: sort of see where the team could go from there.
- 2:24Speaker 1: And I think it's sort of just collectively started going
- 2:27Speaker 1: down a little bit from there, you know it with
- 2:28Speaker 1: a non contact injury, and you sort of have to
- 2:31Speaker 1: hope that, you know, at the time of recording, we're
- 2:35Speaker 1: recording immediately after the game. I guess first off day,
- 2:39Speaker 1: we hope that he's okay, and I guess we'll see
- 2:41Speaker 1: now over the next few days what happens him. But
- 2:43Speaker 1: you know, a non contact injury deemed out very quickly.
- 2:47Speaker 1: After a non contact injury, it would potentially raise his
- 2:51Speaker 1: participation into doubt for a very short week coming up
- 2:55Speaker 1: against the Titans and first let football.
- 2:58Speaker 2: Yeah, but as of yet, we're yet to know about
- 3:02Speaker 2: the you know, severity of the injury. Hopefully it's not
- 3:05Speaker 2: too bad. I mean, it's not as first knock this season.
- 3:08Speaker 2: And I'll just say, you know, we've we've got a
- 3:11Speaker 2: big prime time game coming up on Thursday night, so
- 3:14Speaker 2: obviously we've got the Packers in a couple of weeks
- 3:15Speaker 2: as well. We've got two home games now that I
- 3:18Speaker 2: don't know, I don't know about, do you, Mick but
- 3:19Speaker 2: I think it's it must win both games. Obviously. The
- 3:23Speaker 2: main thing is, you know, with with the actual if
- 3:25Speaker 2: we look back on the game, I thought we were
- 3:27Speaker 2: pretty competitive throughout and that the injury the Kenny just
- 3:30Speaker 2: sort of stoked us a bit like we're able to
- 3:33Speaker 2: march up fail and the score with with oh god,
- 3:37Speaker 2: I can't even remember it wasn't it. But yeah, obviously
- 3:41Speaker 2: the defense came in with with some key players as well.
- 3:43Speaker 2: But the objective you know now has to be to
- 3:47Speaker 2: go back and be able to bounce back with a
- 3:49Speaker 2: win on Thursday eight against the Titans, who I think
- 3:51Speaker 2: they actually came off did they get beat in the
- 3:54Speaker 2: end bit of Falcons. So you know, we can maybe
- 3:56Speaker 2: just see if we can just sit back, you know,
- 4:00Speaker 2: sort of reevaluate, you know, the injuries maybe, you know,
- 4:02Speaker 2: with the key positions, hopefully there's not too many, and
- 4:05Speaker 2: then you know, get ready for Thursday night. You know,
- 4:08Speaker 2: it's it's just one of those some days where you
- 4:11Speaker 2: just have to sort of give your hants, you your
- 4:13Speaker 2: keep your hearts to the Jags. I mean, Traves etm
- 4:15Speaker 2: was fantastic. Travor Lawrence pretty you know, he wasn't outstanding,
- 4:19Speaker 2: but he didn't really have to be at the same time.
- 4:21Speaker 2: And you know, aving Ingram was an absolute pain on
- 4:23Speaker 2: our side as well, So you have to tap your
- 4:25Speaker 2: heart off to them and just you know, we have
- 4:27Speaker 2: to just reevaluate and hopefully we're going buys back over when
- 4:29Speaker 2: next week on.
- 4:31Speaker 1: A short week as well, I guess before we go
- 4:33Speaker 1: with it, like a little bit more sort of fall
- 4:36Speaker 1: and detail on it. Let's firstly hear problem TJ. What
- 4:39Speaker 1: and a guy to come in during the game? Miss Rubisky,
- 4:45Speaker 1: What is the.
- 4:46Speaker 4: Effect of losing him so early.
- 4:48Speaker 5: In the game.
- 4:49Speaker 6: Oh?
- 4:49Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, anytime you lose an all Pro player,
- 4:52Speaker 5: a guy who uh is a leader in the back end,
- 4:54Speaker 5: the leader of the defense, it's a big blow. But
- 4:57Speaker 5: it's it's one that we have to be able to
- 5:00Speaker 5: to manage, uh, whether it's it's one guy.
- 5:02Speaker 3: Whether it's with two or three guys.
- 5:04Speaker 5: But we always preach the next man out mentality, and
- 5:08Speaker 5: everybody's in the meetings, everybody's at practice, so it's all
- 5:10Speaker 5: about the next man and what he's able to do
- 5:12Speaker 5: and fill in that spot.
- 5:16Speaker 3: Any what happened on a long tunch, Dolar? Did you
- 5:18Speaker 3: are your valedgeboy? Was there a breakdown. I don't know.
- 5:21Speaker 3: I have to watch the film before I give any breakdown.
- 5:24Speaker 6: Did you guys think coming into it that Ingram was
- 5:26Speaker 6: gonna be a big part of their game plan and
- 5:28Speaker 6: they it was.
- 5:28Speaker 3: Not just then taking advantage of where you guys weren't
- 5:31Speaker 3: I mean we knew he was a great pass catcher.
- 5:34Speaker 5: I mean, uh, we respected him coming into the game,
- 5:37Speaker 5: but uh weren't able to stop him today. Just the
- 5:42Speaker 5: level of frustration with calls are happening and things that
- 5:46Speaker 5: are maybe outside.
- 5:47Speaker 2: Of your control, especially when the defense kind of does
- 5:50Speaker 2: its job of how do you how do you deal
- 5:51Speaker 2: with that?
- 5:52Speaker 3: How do you move forward?
- 5:54Speaker 5: Continue to try to do my job, and job is
- 5:57Speaker 5: to go out there and play solid defense, Try to
- 6:00Speaker 5: deliver the ball, try to get off the field as
- 6:03Speaker 5: quickly as possible, try to flip field position. And uh,
- 6:07Speaker 5: we don't have time to look around and point blame.
- 6:09Speaker 5: Uh none of us are playing the way that we
- 6:12Speaker 5: should right now.
- 6:14Speaker 2: See I didn't call it as it to m sore
- 6:16Speaker 2: and kind of move on.
- 6:17Speaker 3: For a loss like this on a short week, I mean,
- 6:21Speaker 3: there's no time to sit in sult.
- 6:22Speaker 5: We have a game on Thursday, so that's I mean
- 6:24Speaker 5: that's part of the beauty of the NFL, and uh,
- 6:27Speaker 5: we have to move past it. But at the same time,
- 6:29Speaker 5: we also can't just can it. We have to look
- 6:30Speaker 5: at the film and learn from it.
- 6:32Speaker 3: Did you're gonna start the second half and help, did
- 6:34Speaker 3: it could go the whole way or what was the deal?
- 6:37Speaker 6: We're still going through that. At halftime, I was preparing
- 6:39Speaker 6: like I was. I mean, I was ready to go
- 6:41Speaker 6: in and they're trying to figure out if you could
- 6:43Speaker 6: go and then he couldn't, so I was in. That's
- 6:47Speaker 6: how That's pretty much how it went. So talk talk
- 6:50Speaker 6: about the momentum you guys gained on that touchdown drive
- 6:53Speaker 6: and I touched.
- 6:54Speaker 3: On the Georg.
- 6:55Speaker 6: Yeah, we had one good drive. We were executing well.
- 6:57Speaker 6: We were able to stay balanced and we went down
- 6:59Speaker 6: and and finishing the end zone. George made a great play.
- 7:01Speaker 6: We protected well that drive and finished with six. So
- 7:07Speaker 6: it was a good drive and those are the type
- 7:08Speaker 6: of drives we got to have more of just to
- 7:09Speaker 6: be a more consistent offense. You gonna have all the
- 7:12Speaker 6: interception seven, Yeah, forced to throw on my part trying
- 7:15Speaker 6: to make a play downfield. They were playing a lot
- 7:17Speaker 6: of two second half us playing behind. We need to
- 7:20Speaker 6: push the ball downfield a little bit, clouding the George
- 7:22Speaker 6: a lot. That one was specifically was invert I was
- 7:24Speaker 6: trying to get the ball to a rob It was
- 7:27Speaker 6: a force. Good play by them, So that's on me.
- 7:30Speaker 6: I gotta be better just take what they give me,
- 7:33Speaker 6: especially with us only being down seven at that point,
- 7:35Speaker 6: I should have probably checked it down and and hopefully
- 7:39Speaker 6: move on from there.
- 7:40Speaker 2: When the offense has been struggling, that is there a
- 7:43Speaker 2: desire maybe to try to get things back.
- 7:45Speaker 7: At the fleet.
- 7:47Speaker 6: Forcing to throw absolutely. I mean, I gotta be smarter.
- 7:50Speaker 6: I mean, I'm out there trying to win the game, right,
- 7:53Speaker 6: so we're not just trying to run the ball or
- 7:56Speaker 6: check it down every time. That was a force on
- 7:58Speaker 6: my part, but I wanted to come in and try
- 7:59Speaker 6: to make plays. This offense. Maybe on that instance was
- 8:02Speaker 6: doing too much and that's where you get in trouble.
- 8:04Speaker 6: But I wanted to push the ball downfield and that
- 8:07Speaker 6: was the wrong thing to do on that play, So
- 8:09Speaker 6: got to learn from it.
- 8:10Speaker 3: It's just a whole Why has the offense.
- 8:12Speaker 6: Been so inconsistent execution? We just gotta be better executing
- 8:16Speaker 6: our plays. Getting everybody on the same page and staying
- 8:19Speaker 6: balanced as an offense.
- 8:21Speaker 4: To kind of put this game away and get ready
- 8:25Speaker 4: for Thursday, especially knowing that Kenny's status is a little
- 8:27Speaker 4: bit up in the air right now.
- 8:29Speaker 6: Yeah, I just got to prepare on a short week,
- 8:31Speaker 6: that's the job. So we play on Thursday. Sometimes that's
- 8:34Speaker 6: a positive thing because you get to flush this game quickly,
- 8:36Speaker 6: get that taste out of our mouth, and just get
- 8:38Speaker 6: back to the game on Thursday. So we gotta flush
- 8:40Speaker 6: it and everybody's got prepared and get ready to go
- 8:43Speaker 6: for Thursday night.
- 8:44Speaker 7: That you guys are humming around in some games and
- 8:47Speaker 7: one with with like some late drives is today's game
- 8:49Speaker 7: with an example of like why that's not all?
- 8:51Speaker 3: Is it sustainable? Bulfrint?
- 8:54Speaker 6: Yeah, I don't know, because we were done by two
- 8:55Speaker 6: scores late late in the fourth quarter. So maybe if
- 8:58Speaker 6: I don't turn the ball over, it's a little closer.
- 8:59Speaker 6: And defense played really well. Again, we just got to
- 9:01Speaker 6: be more consistent on offense and just continue to go
- 9:04Speaker 6: out there, execute and make plays. So we had one
- 9:07Speaker 6: good driver, we went down and scored. It's gotta be
- 9:09Speaker 6: more consistent than that, and we got pulled together and
- 9:11Speaker 6: flushed this one and go get one on a short week.
- 9:14Speaker 4: Did you watch Kittle and we tried to warm up
- 9:16Speaker 4: when you're talking to wasn't clear?
- 9:17Speaker 3: I'm sorry, were you watching kend Ale or talking to
- 9:19Speaker 3: him commune att away?
- 9:20Speaker 7: Was it clear to you that he wasn't to do it?
- 9:22Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean he Kenny knows his body better than anybody,
- 9:25Speaker 6: so he tried to go out there and throw and
- 9:27Speaker 6: if he didn't feel like he was a hundred percent,
- 9:29Speaker 6: he shouldn't put himself in that position. And same with
- 9:31Speaker 6: the all the trainers and coaches. So I feel like
- 9:36Speaker 6: they made the right choice by protecting him and him
- 9:38Speaker 6: and protecting himself. So hopefully he's okay and we'll see
- 9:42Speaker 6: where where he's at.
- 9:43Speaker 4: But you know, Kenny was still in the game at
- 9:45Speaker 4: the end of the first half when there were a
- 9:47Speaker 4: lot of different officiating calls, seemed like maybe there was
- 9:49Speaker 4: some inconsistency. How much confusion were some of those calls causing?
- 9:53Speaker 4: I mean, what were some of the discussions you guys
- 9:56Speaker 4: were having.
- 9:56Speaker 6: Yeah, for me, I'm just focused on like whether I
- 9:58Speaker 6: was going in or not, and I'm not really too
- 10:01Speaker 6: concerned with the officiating. For me, it's like us just
- 10:03Speaker 6: executing guys being on the same page, and no matter
- 10:06Speaker 6: if the call was for us or against us, we
- 10:08Speaker 6: gotta be on the same page of what the down
- 10:10Speaker 6: and distance is, so we don't have confusion and communication
- 10:12Speaker 6: on our parts. So I think that's, uh, that's something
- 10:15Speaker 6: we can get better at, just communicating where we're at
- 10:18Speaker 6: on the field, down in distance and getting the right
- 10:20Speaker 6: guys in the huddles so we could operate faster.
- 10:23Speaker 3: One touchdown has to George. But what were they doing
- 10:25Speaker 3: to take pickus away?
- 10:28Speaker 6: Yeah, they're just playing cover two to a side, clouding
- 10:30Speaker 6: them taking away the downfield stuff. So we got to
- 10:32Speaker 6: figure out ways to continue to get him a ball.
- 10:34Speaker 6: And on that instance, they blitzed to that side and
- 10:37Speaker 6: he had a one on one matchup he won on
- 10:39Speaker 6: a slant and made an incredible play jumping over that
- 10:41Speaker 6: safety and getting in the end zone. So it's the
- 10:43Speaker 6: type of player he is, and we know that we
- 10:45Speaker 6: gotta find ways to get him the ball within this offense,
- 10:46Speaker 6: but also staying balanced and and leaning on this run game.
- 10:50Speaker 6: And and those guys up front.
- 10:53Speaker 2: On that one drive, was that a by product George
- 10:55Speaker 2: being covered?
- 10:57Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 10:57Speaker 6: Yeah, so they're they're double ta the Georgia side. Deantay
- 11:01Speaker 6: is gonna get some more one on ones and that's
- 11:03Speaker 6: gonna beat share him.
- 11:06Speaker 1: Hearing from mister Bisky their day, it's interesting. Obviously, we
- 11:10Speaker 1: see Kenny go out with a rib injury and I
- 11:13Speaker 1: don't think it look at the end of the day,
- 11:14Speaker 1: and nobody ever wants to see your quarterback go out.
- 11:17Speaker 1: At the time, Kenny was ten and sixteen seventy three yards.
- 11:21Speaker 1: Mitch came in fifteen to twenty seven, one hundred and
- 11:23Speaker 1: thirty odd yards, one touchdown with two interceptions. Just not
- 11:28Speaker 1: the day that we would have wanted on the offense.
- 11:30Speaker 1: Was there any positives that you took from the offense
- 11:33Speaker 1: on the day at all? Obviously, very difficult to see
- 11:36Speaker 1: any positive when there's no run game there, especially when
- 11:39Speaker 1: there was no sort of sort of share between Warren
- 11:42Speaker 1: and Harris because Jacksonville sort of had a din on
- 11:44Speaker 1: the stretch. But to see Deontay Johnson have a few
- 11:47Speaker 1: plays where he played well and got some good catches
- 11:51Speaker 1: was good.
- 11:51Speaker 6: Ed.
- 11:51Speaker 1: George Pickens had a good reception. I think it was
- 11:54Speaker 1: towards the end of the third quarter, but it was
- 11:56Speaker 1: quite limited. But there were some signs of prove, especially
- 12:00Speaker 1: when you through Mitch into the game at a certain point.
- 12:04Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, it's it's not all doom and glamph
- 12:06Speaker 2: you know. At the same time, you don't want to
- 12:08Speaker 2: be relianing on your backup quarterback. You know. It's just
- 12:10Speaker 2: one of those things where quarterback injuries are so they
- 12:13Speaker 2: can be just so hartful to your franchise. And it's
- 12:16Speaker 2: just one of those where Mitchell the risky is not
- 12:18Speaker 2: coming and expecting to play, but he has to be ready.
- 12:20Speaker 2: I mean we were able to sort of. We had
- 12:24Speaker 2: a big stop in defense. I think TJ. Watts sacks
- 12:27Speaker 2: Lawrence put him out a field goal position. We forced
- 12:29Speaker 2: him the punt, and Mitchell the risky just through. You know,
- 12:32Speaker 2: I don't really want to use, you know, any any
- 12:34Speaker 2: negative prunas here, like, but he just threw it. It
- 12:36Speaker 2: was really a reckless interception, and from that moment on,
- 12:40Speaker 2: I just think it was just it was too much
- 12:42Speaker 2: for the defense to hold up.
- 12:43Speaker 1: You know.
- 12:43Speaker 2: It's and then that was straight after as well. You know,
- 12:46Speaker 2: we scored a touchdown as well, so you know, there
- 12:49Speaker 2: is some positives, you know, George Pepkins, you mentioned he
- 12:51Speaker 2: didn't have a catch for it. The first three quarter. Well,
- 12:53Speaker 2: I think it was like his first first option was
- 12:55Speaker 2: halfway through the third quarter, but then and he was done,
- 12:58Speaker 2: you know, if you remember the one at the sideline
- 13:01Speaker 2: where he just about missed out on the on keeping
- 13:03Speaker 2: his toes and bends as well. So there's always going
- 13:06Speaker 2: to be positives. Of course, you know, we still have
- 13:07Speaker 2: a really good you know, you know Deanthony Johnson as well,
- 13:11Speaker 2: we've had a good game. We still have a very
- 13:14Speaker 2: good you know, receiving corp there. And at the minute,
- 13:16Speaker 2: it's just really how we can improve the running game
- 13:19Speaker 2: because as to say, when there's injuries happening to your
- 13:21Speaker 2: key players, you know, both on offense and defense, you
- 13:24Speaker 2: have to be able to rely on the run game.
- 13:25Speaker 2: And it's just not something we can do at the minute.
- 13:27Speaker 2: So everybody has to sort of look at themselves, take
- 13:29Speaker 2: responsibility and and hopefully, you know, give us a good
- 13:33Speaker 2: out next Thursday. And my opinion, then two games and
- 13:36Speaker 2: now have to be one as simple as that.
- 13:39Speaker 1: I look, I guess I guess the thing that all
- 13:41Speaker 1: Dave is, you know, we're not going to cover the
- 13:43Speaker 1: cracks here. Stailers of high expectations for every player on
- 13:47Speaker 1: that team, you know, high expectations in terms of having
- 13:50Speaker 1: a good having good fluidity and offense. And when you
- 13:54Speaker 1: look around the league today, there were quarterbacks, there were
- 13:57Speaker 1: certain players that just played really well and we just
- 14:01Speaker 1: did not have that today. And there will be a
- 14:03Speaker 1: high expectation on this team obviously at all times, but
- 14:06Speaker 1: clearly going in the Thursday night, there is you know,
- 14:08Speaker 1: I think, you know, Pittsburgh, Ireland, everybody now expects they're
- 14:12Speaker 1: coming up against the Titans team. And you know, look,
- 14:14Speaker 1: we will talk about this in the second but we'll
- 14:18Speaker 1: Levis four touchdowns on his first start in the NFL.
- 14:21Speaker 1: And you know, I feel for Kenny because he goes
- 14:24Speaker 1: off injured and you've now got social media talking, You've
- 14:29Speaker 1: now got different people talking around, well, well that's not
- 14:31Speaker 1: good enough. His performance isn't good enough. I think when
- 14:35Speaker 1: you're talking, and I appreciate what you're saying, I think
- 14:38Speaker 1: when you come out of the game, the initial thought
- 14:42Speaker 1: is to just talk talk talk, talk talk. I think
- 14:44Speaker 1: we need to step back, and this is for everyone
- 14:47Speaker 1: take a second and just breathe over the next couple
- 14:50Speaker 1: of days and we will see long term what happens here.
- 14:54Speaker 1: But certainly I just hope that these guys can get
- 14:56Speaker 1: going Thursday night, I tell you what we'll do. Let's
- 14:59Speaker 1: hear from theaters. Had coach Mike Cullin after the loss
- 15:03Speaker 1: to the Jacksonville Jaguars.
- 15:09Speaker 7: A disappointing result for us. Didn't do enough over the
- 15:12Speaker 7: course of the sixty minutes to secure victory. Thought we
- 15:16Speaker 7: were closing the distance in the second half, had a
- 15:19Speaker 7: miscommunication and gave up a long score. We turned the
- 15:23Speaker 7: ball over on the other side, and you're not gonna
- 15:26Speaker 7: close distance and finish ball games, you know, giving up
- 15:29Speaker 7: chunk plays and turning the ball over, and so you know,
- 15:34Speaker 7: that was a major component of it. From an injury perspective,
- 15:37Speaker 7: Mika has a hamstring, wasn't able to return, Kenny had
- 15:42Speaker 7: a rib injury, wasn't able to return, had some other bumps,
- 15:45Speaker 7: some abuses, but I think everybody else return. Deontae returned,
- 15:48Speaker 7: Dan Moore returned. We don't have a lot of time
- 15:51Speaker 7: to absorb the result of this. We got a short week,
- 15:54Speaker 7: and so we'll do so quickly and quickly turn our
- 15:58Speaker 7: attentions and planning toward Tennessee. As unfortunate as the outcome
- 16:02Speaker 7: of this game is, man, it is it is final,
- 16:05Speaker 7: and we better turn our attention towards the next opportunity
- 16:08Speaker 7: on the short week, and those are our intentions. Questions, Mike,
- 16:12Speaker 7: any idea how bad Ken he's hurt or you could
- 16:16Speaker 7: go forward? I don't have any understanding of that.
- 16:19Speaker 8: No, like what was at halftime, they said he was
- 16:21Speaker 8: gonna come back, and then he comes out and warms up,
- 16:23Speaker 8: and then he doesn't.
- 16:25Speaker 7: I don't know who they was. I didn't say that
- 16:28Speaker 7: in the long score where you're out leveraged on that side.
- 16:31Speaker 3: What happened?
- 16:32Speaker 7: He had miscommunication, come out and.
- 16:34Speaker 4: Warm up, he was throwing on the sideline in the
- 16:37Speaker 4: second half. Did he report additional pain that made him
- 16:39Speaker 4: unable to do?
- 16:40Speaker 1: Him?
- 16:40Speaker 7: Warming enough is not reflective of intentions?
- 16:43Speaker 3: What are those first half struggles?
- 16:46Speaker 7: You know we missed a big play down in the
- 16:47Speaker 7: middle early, we missed another you know, you know corner
- 16:52Speaker 7: rout early. You know we's got to execute better at
- 16:56Speaker 7: the early courses of football games. Obviously, how much to those.
- 16:59Speaker 3: Early three and outs?
- 17:01Speaker 7: The tone, including defense, the early portions of the game
- 17:04Speaker 7: doesn't decide the outcome. It doesn't it It usually doesn't.
- 17:08Speaker 7: It didn't today. Obviously, you want more fluid starts, but
- 17:13Speaker 7: it didn't determine the outcome of the game. As I mentioned,
- 17:17Speaker 7: I thought the critical things were the things that transpired
- 17:19Speaker 7: in the second half of the long score, the turnover.
- 17:23Speaker 7: Things you can't do as you're leaning in on the
- 17:26Speaker 7: on the last portion of a football game. How much that.
- 17:30Speaker 4: Affect what you guys were able to do.
- 17:32Speaker 7: Bens Glen knots It didn't schematically. Obviously he's a quality player.
- 17:37Speaker 7: But I don't know that it reduced us schematically anyway,
- 17:39Speaker 7: because you.
- 17:40Speaker 8: Think that if he if Mitchard, because there was just
- 17:43Speaker 8: a little bit more patience maybe on the turnover, because yes,
- 17:45Speaker 8: some people that were open short, that may have resulted
- 17:49Speaker 8: in different outcome.
- 17:50Speaker 7: You know, I might have a different perspective after I
- 17:52Speaker 7: review it, but you know it wasn't the case. You know,
- 17:57Speaker 7: as it unfolded, what.
- 17:58Speaker 5: If they tell you on the off side called what
- 18:00Speaker 5: was the impact on bluesimost three points?
- 18:04Speaker 7: You know, I didn't get a lot of dialogue. You know,
- 18:07Speaker 7: I hadn't seen that called in seventeen years of standing
- 18:10Speaker 7: on sidelines, off sides, aligned off sides, on a guard
- 18:15Speaker 7: on a field goal protection and so you know it
- 18:19Speaker 7: didn't matter what they said. I just I have never
- 18:21Speaker 7: seen that.
- 18:23Speaker 1: I was Theeters head coach Mike Tomlin after the theaters faller.
- 18:26Speaker 1: What's twenty it's hand loss to the Jacksonville Joguars, a
- 18:29Speaker 1: team that we've seen the have obviously play in the
- 18:31Speaker 1: UK over the last few weeks and Jogs are really
- 18:35Speaker 1: really starting to perform this season. But at the same time,
- 18:37Speaker 1: we expect and we want the Staelers to win a
- 18:40Speaker 1: game regardless of their opponents. In terms all the day itself.
- 18:44Speaker 1: You know, we've seen Presley Harvard, the guy we had
- 18:47Speaker 1: in the podcast, have a decent day and because because
- 18:51Speaker 1: he had the interception as well. So look, it's not
- 18:53Speaker 1: all doom and gloom, but I guess you have to
- 18:55Speaker 1: take small wins on the day like this, especially when
- 18:57Speaker 1: there's a loss.
- 18:59Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, it's like I said, Mike, it's not
- 19:02Speaker 2: it's not all doom and glame. We still have players
- 19:04Speaker 2: on the defensive side that's going to be able to
- 19:06Speaker 2: make players and Kasey was able to prove that today.
- 19:09Speaker 2: And I'll just say, but Presley Harvan, you know, he's
- 19:12Speaker 2: a guy we've we've spoken to earlier in the year
- 19:14Speaker 2: and he was obviously optimistic with the season and stuff,
- 19:16Speaker 2: and it's it's good to see him having a good
- 19:18Speaker 2: day on the special teams. But you know, just coming
- 19:22Speaker 2: back on the injuries as well, it maybe now forces
- 19:25Speaker 2: us having to go out and maybe look at the
- 19:26Speaker 2: trade deadline next week and maybe trying to pick up
- 19:29Speaker 2: a piece in the secondary because of obviously the injury demenca.
- 19:33Speaker 2: So we'll see how that goes. Hopefully that you know,
- 19:36Speaker 2: we're onto that and we can we can react come
- 19:39Speaker 2: back with when you know we're I'm just sort of
- 19:40Speaker 2: looking at the Titans here their box score against the Falcons.
- 19:43Speaker 2: A lot of people expected the Titans to be to
- 19:46Speaker 2: be tacking some sorts, but you know that it just
- 19:49Speaker 2: proves the teams in the NFL, they just don't thank
- 19:51Speaker 2: you know, they all player for each other and it's
- 19:53Speaker 2: just not going to happen. So we're coming in here
- 19:56Speaker 2: next week. It's going to be a very very difficult game.
- 19:58Speaker 2: We'll have as as you say, for touchdowns on his
- 20:00Speaker 2: on his NFL starts, first NFL starts, So it's going
- 20:04Speaker 2: to be tough.
- 20:04Speaker 3: You know.
- 20:05Speaker 2: Defensively, they looked pretty good as well, and let's just
- 20:08Speaker 2: hope Kenny's going to be available. You know, everybody thought
- 20:11Speaker 2: originally when he got injured against Houston a couple of
- 20:14Speaker 2: weeks ago, everybody thought he was going to be out
- 20:16Speaker 2: for majority of the season. And now it looks like
- 20:19Speaker 2: or obviously he was able to bunce back next week
- 20:21Speaker 2: against the Ravens and give us a win. So let's
- 20:23Speaker 2: hope this isn't a series as we you know, initially think,
- 20:28Speaker 2: and he's able to bounce back and before you know it,
- 20:30Speaker 2: next Thursday night we're all sad to to to get
- 20:33Speaker 2: back in the wedding road.
- 20:35Speaker 1: Yeah, the Staders will play the Titans Thursday. The football
- 20:37Speaker 1: that game is not just all off the ball, but
- 20:39Speaker 1: it will be on NFL game possible also in the
- 20:42Speaker 1: sky Sports in Ireland, so you'll be able to watch
- 20:44Speaker 1: that folks both northern side of the border. I would say,
- 20:47Speaker 1: just just first off, then what you said there, like
- 20:50Speaker 1: coming past this week, still a positive racer, We're still
- 20:53Speaker 1: over five hundred. Yes, you know we've seen the Titans
- 20:57Speaker 1: with Will Levis on Sunday. What you know, there was
- 21:01Speaker 1: a lot of sort of rumors and talk that they
- 21:02Speaker 1: were going to shop Derrek Henry. Now our understanding is,
- 21:05Speaker 1: and just sort of the discourse from the league is,
- 21:08Speaker 1: you know, they're not actively shopping him, but they will
- 21:11Speaker 1: certainly listen to offers. It's going to be a very
- 21:13Speaker 1: interesting week for every team involved with the trade, theam light,
- 21:18Speaker 1: with the trade deadline, and then when you have those
- 21:20Speaker 1: question marks around, you know, this Steelers team is going
- 21:23Speaker 1: to have what twenty four hours off, and then it's
- 21:25Speaker 1: it's going to just be difficult to see certain guys
- 21:27Speaker 1: come back in. I guess right now, you know you
- 21:30Speaker 1: want to see Kenny come in Thursday night, but more
- 21:32Speaker 1: so theyve you want to see this team sort of
- 21:35Speaker 1: get back because the possibility of going five and three
- 21:40Speaker 1: in Thursday Night can really change the situation that they're
- 21:43Speaker 1: in now. Like if they had won obviously on Sunday,
- 21:46Speaker 1: they could went five and two, completely different situation. But
- 21:50Speaker 1: to win on Thursday on prime time, I think that
- 21:54Speaker 1: changes completely changes the nard of one.
- 21:57Speaker 2: Yeah, it's like, as I say, you know, it's not
- 22:00Speaker 2: time to burn down the house yet. You know, we've
- 22:02Speaker 2: still got a lot of games to go. We're still
- 22:04Speaker 2: over five hundred, like you said, and you know what,
- 22:08Speaker 2: we've got two home games now that we have the
- 22:10Speaker 2: opportunity to set things right, you know, against teams that
- 22:13Speaker 2: arguably you know they're not they're not playoff teams. I
- 22:16Speaker 2: mean Tennessee's okay, yeah, they've had a good game today,
- 22:18Speaker 2: probably suits us now they've had a good game, because
- 22:20Speaker 2: there's always the potential of maybe a bad one and
- 22:23Speaker 2: then obviously if Green dead then next week who just
- 22:26Speaker 2: lethargically do not look like a good team. I mean,
- 22:29Speaker 2: they were able to maybe put a glove on it
- 22:31Speaker 2: on the Vikings, but apart from that, you know, they're
- 22:33Speaker 2: just not They don't seem up to scratch with Jordan Love.
- 22:36Speaker 2: So it's just one of those where look, we're gonna
- 22:39Speaker 2: have to, you know, review the game see where we
- 22:41Speaker 2: can obviously improve. There's obviously a lot of places where
- 22:43Speaker 2: we need to improve. But obviously, say you know, of
- 22:46Speaker 2: every you know, I trust that you know, the coaching
- 22:49Speaker 2: staff will will build over the guys down and just hopefully,
- 22:52Speaker 2: well we'll be able to come back on Thursday night,
- 22:54Speaker 2: you know, with with a win, just for everybody. So,
- 22:58Speaker 2: like you said, we're still over five hundreds, maybe not
- 23:01Speaker 2: major time to panic, of course, you know things could
- 23:03Speaker 2: have been better, but at the same time, you know,
- 23:05Speaker 2: we've got to just keep our head held high and
- 23:07Speaker 2: trust that you know, people are going to sat it right.
- 23:10Speaker 1: You had the patient of the same my friend, you
- 23:13Speaker 1: do you.
- 23:14Speaker 2: Know, Jimmy, I know Jimmy might be Jimmy is probably
- 23:16Speaker 2: listening to this turn her out, But yeah, I know,
- 23:20Speaker 2: I can just imagine them right now here would just
- 23:21Speaker 2: be you know, it'd be livid. But I feel you,
- 23:24Speaker 2: jim I really do.
- 23:26Speaker 1: Well. Look, I mean, the standard is a standard, and
- 23:29Speaker 1: it starts this first and that again, and I know
- 23:31Speaker 1: that everyone will expect, we certainly expect and end in
- 23:35Speaker 1: the podcast on a positive note. For a few weeks
- 23:38Speaker 1: out from this watch party in Dublin, we expect some form.
- 23:43Speaker 3: Of news to come this week.
- 23:44Speaker 1: So keep keep the eyes open, keep the ears open,
- 23:48Speaker 1: keep the ears prickle it up. Some interesting news could
- 23:51Speaker 1: come very very soon, some really really cool news, and
- 23:54Speaker 1: that might link into our next podcast before Thursday. A
- 23:57Speaker 1: football But I'm hoping, you know, I'm hoping that that
- 24:01Speaker 1: we're gonna go out at first and night and really
- 24:02Speaker 1: put on a performance under the lights and show the
- 24:05Speaker 1: league that this Pittsburgh team, if it's a great defense
- 24:09Speaker 1: and young, fluid offense, can really rewrite the roles from Sunday,
- 24:14Speaker 1: so let's see. I would say, folks, if you have
- 24:16Speaker 1: any questions, if you have any opinions, if you do
- 24:18Speaker 1: want to get in touch with us, please use the
- 24:19Speaker 1: hashtag Steelers Ireland with some questions or comments in the
- 24:23Speaker 1: game on Sunday against Jaguars or just in general. Please
- 24:26Speaker 1: let us still have you any final awards.
- 24:28Speaker 2: Do Yeah, not really, you know, it's it's just important
- 24:33Speaker 2: that we do end in a positive note. You know
- 24:35Speaker 2: things can always be better, and you know, just it's
- 24:40Speaker 2: it's just one of those things where we just have to,
- 24:41Speaker 2: you know, dust your south down and get on with it.
- 24:43Speaker 2: You know, you're only as good as your last game,
- 24:46Speaker 2: as you know, Mick, and you know, hopefully our next
- 24:49Speaker 2: game is going to be our best of the season,
- 24:50Speaker 2: so we're gonna need a good performance. Also, just I
- 24:53Speaker 2: want to shout out my cousin Breton Scanman, who is
- 24:56Speaker 2: a big pop song congratulations on their first winning of
- 24:58Speaker 2: the season this year.
- 24:59Speaker 7: So if he's.
- 25:01Speaker 2: Considering trading to the Steelers ever since you know that
- 25:03Speaker 2: the marketing rates were, we're annow sports. I think you'll
- 25:08Speaker 2: stick with the Potters for an all the way, So yeah,
- 25:10Speaker 2: shout out to him definitely.
- 25:13Speaker 1: Well, I know it was the NFL Global Markets game
- 25:16Speaker 1: as well because the Jags and the Sailors both and
- 25:18Speaker 1: I have to say now I've seen the Jags put
- 25:20Speaker 1: up a thing of George Pickens with the Jags Cealarbritten
- 25:23Speaker 1: and I'll tell you what we're going to get them
- 25:25Speaker 1: back for that after that. So all playful fun on
- 25:28Speaker 1: social media and Sunday, but look there results just didn't
- 25:31Speaker 1: go away. And we hope now two massive, massive games
- 25:35Speaker 1: at home against two teams that I really feel and
- 25:38Speaker 1: I know you feel as baladd that we should be
- 25:40Speaker 1: taken care of. And it's a big it's a big
- 25:43Speaker 1: couple of weeks standards and standard and we will see
- 25:45Speaker 1: what happens and really regroup and take it from there.
- 25:48Speaker 1: For now, this has been the hour series podcast. Thank
- 25:51Speaker 1: you for listening to us on this Monday morning. We
- 25:54Speaker 1: hope you've brightened up your morning a little bit after
- 25:56Speaker 1: the disappointing day yesterday. We'll chaut to you sume. Here
- 25:58Speaker 1: we go.
- 26:00Speaker 3: The mom
