- 0:01Speaker 1: You're listening to Bill Handle on demand from KFI AM
- 0:04Speaker 1: six forty.
- 0:07Speaker 2: Welcome Control k.
- 0:13Speaker 3: Now, we have KFI AM six forty Bill Handle here.
- 0:19Speaker 2: Good morning.
- 0:20Speaker 3: It is a Monday morning, January twenty sixth. Some of
- 0:25Speaker 3: the stories we are looking at. The American Academy Pediatrics
- 0:30Speaker 3: released its updated recommendation for childhood vaccines and it is
- 0:36Speaker 3: different than what the CDC has recommended. And then besides
- 0:42Speaker 3: the storm, which is a just nasty, nasty, deadly storm
- 0:47Speaker 3: which twenty people have already died across a two thousand
- 0:51Speaker 3: mile front, and I mean life threatening.
- 0:55Speaker 2: We're one hundreds.
- 0:55Speaker 3: I think a million people are out of power throughout
- 0:59Speaker 3: the South in the Midwest. That that's a bad one.
- 1:03Speaker 3: And then of course the second shooting, the second fatality
- 1:08Speaker 3: in Minneapolis in a couple of three weeks, with the
- 1:12Speaker 3: shooting of that icy U nurse, and that's really controversial,
- 1:17Speaker 3: as the government has says, the ICE has said he
- 1:20Speaker 3: came to kill ICE agents and will not say that
- 1:24Speaker 3: he did or did not brandish a gun. He did
- 1:26Speaker 3: not if you look at the video he was shot.
- 1:29Speaker 3: And the argument is he was there to kill us.
- 1:32Speaker 3: It was self defense, and the administration ICE and Homeland
- 1:36Speaker 3: Security said, yep, yep, he a domestic terrorist who was there. Okay, Now,
- 1:43Speaker 3: housing costs, and I'm going to do a story about
- 1:46Speaker 3: little next segment about how home sellers actually outnumber buyers,
- 1:51Speaker 3: and I'll talk more about that. But the bottom line
- 1:53Speaker 3: is we need houses and there is a huge shortage.
- 1:58Speaker 3: Just in California. We have to add one hundred and
- 2:02Speaker 3: eighty thousand housing units every year to keep up with
- 2:05Speaker 3: the demand. Now, this has to do with affordability. People
- 2:12Speaker 3: can't afford houses anymore. Between mortgage payments and six percent
- 2:18Speaker 3: mortgage interest, which actually is pretty low, except people still
- 2:22Speaker 3: remember three percent. A lot of us who are looking
- 2:26Speaker 3: for houses, we've been priced out. Now the President, god
- 2:30Speaker 3: bless them, says the problem has been solved.
- 2:34Speaker 2: You can afford a house. The issue is done.
- 2:40Speaker 3: And if you are talking even using the word affordability,
- 2:44Speaker 3: that's a Democrat hoax. So for those of you that
- 2:49Speaker 3: believe that housing costs are in fact down and you
- 2:54Speaker 3: have been told and think you can't afford a house,
- 2:57Speaker 3: that's not true. The problem is over. It is done,
- 3:02Speaker 3: and that's the official statement. Well is it costing the
- 3:07Speaker 3: president grief? You bet it is, because you know This
- 3:12Speaker 3: is one of those where you know, if the President
- 3:15Speaker 3: says it's sonny outside when it's raining, you can say
- 3:19Speaker 3: it's sonny outside when it's raining. That is not going
- 3:23Speaker 3: to change your life so much. You just come off
- 3:25Speaker 3: like a nutcase. But if the administration says you can
- 3:29Speaker 3: afford a house, the problem of affordability is done. It
- 3:35Speaker 3: was a Democrat hoax to begin with. I'm going to
- 3:39Speaker 3: suggest go out and buy a house. Who doesn't want
- 3:42Speaker 3: a house? It's there, you can afford it.
- 3:46Speaker 2: But wait a minute, no I can't.
- 3:48Speaker 3: Oh, yes you can. The administration says you can afford
- 3:52Speaker 3: a house. Therefore you can afford a house.
- 3:58Speaker 2: No, I can't.
- 4:00Speaker 3: Prices are down, right, That problem is over. Inflation is over.
- 4:06Speaker 3: Prices have dropped. Your grocery bill has dropped significantly.
- 4:15Speaker 2: Since Biden left office.
- 4:19Speaker 3: And the President promised that, well, he was a little
- 4:22Speaker 3: bit off, and I'll give him this one. He said
- 4:24Speaker 3: prices would drop in half day one. Okay, I'll argue
- 4:30Speaker 3: that that's a little bit of puffree. All right, that's
- 4:32Speaker 3: just to make a point.
- 4:33Speaker 2: I get that.
- 4:34Speaker 3: But the other side of it is he legitimately says
- 4:38Speaker 3: prices are down, you are not paying three dollars more
- 4:44Speaker 3: for a pound of beef. I was looking at making
- 4:48Speaker 3: a roast yesterday. I was at Costco a couple of
- 4:51Speaker 3: days ago, and I'm used to, I don't know, for
- 4:55Speaker 3: a nice piece of meat, what eight ninety nine pound
- 5:00Speaker 3: and maybe nine ninety nine a pound? There it was
- 5:06Speaker 3: thirteen ninety nine. Because here's the math, thirteen ninety nine
- 5:11Speaker 3: is less than eight ninety nine. Wait a minute, Bill,
- 5:17Speaker 3: that's not true. Yes it is.
- 5:21Speaker 2: It absolutely is.
- 5:24Speaker 3: Five dollars more is actually five dollars less.
- 5:29Speaker 2: Okay, thank you. Well this is a shocker.
- 5:35Speaker 3: Even some Republicans doing the math are saying, well, maybe
- 5:41Speaker 3: five dollars more really is five dollars more, And maybe
- 5:46Speaker 3: I really can't afford a house, even though I'm being
- 5:49Speaker 3: told I can buy a house. And I'll tell you why.
- 5:54Speaker 3: Because the home sellers want real money. And when you
- 5:58Speaker 3: go to the store and you're there at the checkout counter,
- 6:03Speaker 3: or you're at the sell the self checkout, and when
- 6:07Speaker 3: you ring it up and it says thirteen ninety nine a.
- 6:10Speaker 2: Pound, you go, that's wrong, that's wrong. Okay.
- 6:17Speaker 3: I haven't seen that happen yet, have you. I haven't
- 6:20Speaker 3: seen anybody sit there and start, you know, bitching and
- 6:23Speaker 3: moaning and telling the clerk saying, oh, no, no, no,
- 6:25Speaker 3: it's this isn't thirteen dollars, this is eight dollars. What
- 6:29Speaker 3: planet are you guys on? Because thirteen dollars is less
- 6:34Speaker 3: than eight dollars. You don't think we've gone crazy. You
- 6:40Speaker 3: don't think that this is a nuts so time that
- 6:46Speaker 3: we're living in.
- 6:48Speaker 2: You got me on that one, you really do?
- 6:50Speaker 3: All right, let's move over to Oh and then of
- 6:53Speaker 3: course what's going on in Minneapolis with all the demonstrations
- 6:56Speaker 3: and the second shooting of a protester.
- 7:00Speaker 2: Within a couple of weeks.
- 7:02Speaker 3: Now, if you were buying a house a couple of
- 7:06Speaker 3: years ago, like I was, there weren't many houses available,
- 7:12Speaker 3: and when I bought my home, I paid pretty much
- 7:15Speaker 3: top of the market. If I were buying this house today,
- 7:21Speaker 3: I would I'd be paying close to the same amount
- 7:24Speaker 3: of money. Maybe because houses around me that are for
- 7:28Speaker 3: sale not bad. Maybe they've gone down five percent, which
- 7:31Speaker 3: is still substantial. But based on what we saw over
- 7:35Speaker 3: the last few years, prices for homes have exploded and
- 7:40Speaker 3: a lot of people just can't afford a home anymore,
- 7:45Speaker 3: which means that they are not buying, which means all
- 7:49Speaker 3: of a sudden, you see, home sellers are going, wait
- 7:52Speaker 3: a minute, we don't have enough buyers out there, and
- 7:56Speaker 3: now they're fighting for buyers. It has completely reversed and
- 8:02Speaker 3: in December forty seven percent more home sellers. We're talking
- 8:07Speaker 3: six hundred and thirty one thousand across the country that
- 8:12Speaker 3: we're looking to sell their homes. That's the largest gaps
- 8:15Speaker 3: is twenty thirteen, and it is not doing any better.
- 8:21Speaker 3: What's going on, Well, home buyers are backing off due
- 8:25Speaker 3: to stubbornly high home prices and mortgage rates. But that's
- 8:29Speaker 3: not true because the administration are actually telling us home
- 8:32Speaker 3: prices have dropped dramatically and you can afford a house. Well,
- 8:36Speaker 3: the reality is you can't because the prices on homes
- 8:42Speaker 3: have just exploded. You've got the mortgage rates, even though
- 8:46Speaker 3: it's six percent, which is normally a low mortgage rate,
- 8:49Speaker 3: it's not when people still remember three percent mortgage rates.
- 8:54Speaker 3: You've got layoffs, political uncertainty, people don't know, you know,
- 8:58Speaker 3: what's going to be happening and be able to keep
- 9:00Speaker 3: their jobs. Man, is that changed from twenty twenty one
- 9:04Speaker 3: when bidding wars were routine got You remember the bidding wars,
- 9:09Speaker 3: and people were buying homes a site unseen, and they
- 9:14Speaker 3: were buying garbage because it was just desperation time. And
- 9:20Speaker 3: when I found my house, it hit all the boxes,
- 9:24Speaker 3: but it was it was substantially more than I had anticipated.
- 9:28Speaker 3: But then every home I've ever bought was more than
- 9:30Speaker 3: I anticipated. But since prices go up and up and
- 9:34Speaker 3: up and up, and it was one of the greatest
- 9:36Speaker 3: values you can do if you buy a house. I mean,
- 9:39Speaker 3: I've been buying home since my twenties, and what I
- 9:42Speaker 3: would do is sell and then buy a home that
- 9:45Speaker 3: was more expensive than sell. To the point when I
- 9:48Speaker 3: sold the Persian Palace, there was no chance I could
- 9:52Speaker 3: ever afford to buy the Persian Palace at the point
- 9:57Speaker 3: I sold it, I just couldn't do it. So at
- 10:04Speaker 3: this point, where is this happening more than other places?
- 10:09Speaker 3: Actually the Sun Belt? And why is it happening in
- 10:12Speaker 3: the Sun Belt, Well, these were boom towns and there
- 10:15Speaker 3: was new construction, a huge wave of new construction, and
- 10:19Speaker 3: it added supply, and that helped slow down prices. Because
- 10:23Speaker 3: what happens when it's boom times people start building, but
- 10:26Speaker 3: it's two years down the pike before the homes are
- 10:28Speaker 3: ready to sell, and when things change, whoops, you've got
- 10:33Speaker 3: too many homes.
- 10:34Speaker 2: By the way.
- 10:35Speaker 3: In Austin one hundred and twenty eight percent more home
- 10:38Speaker 3: sellers than buyers in December, Fort Lauderdale one hundred and
- 10:44Speaker 3: twenty five percent more, Nashville one hundred and eleven percent more.
- 10:48Speaker 2: This is all the sun Belt states.
- 10:52Speaker 3: And also people who bought near the peak of the
- 10:56Speaker 3: pandemic market have been slow to reset their expectation. If
- 11:01Speaker 3: I wanted to sell my house today, well, I have
- 11:05Speaker 3: an expectation of what it should cost, what I should
- 11:08Speaker 3: sell it for, And here's the reality.
- 11:10Speaker 2: It's not going to sell for that much.
- 11:12Speaker 3: And people are looking at you bought a house two years,
- 11:15Speaker 3: three years ago, and you knew it was going up
- 11:17Speaker 3: ten percent a year. It hasn't it stopped, And they're
- 11:22Speaker 3: your expectations. So you list it for two hundred thousand
- 11:25Speaker 3: dollars more than it's actually worth in the market, and
- 11:28Speaker 3: you're gonna sit on it.
- 11:30Speaker 2: You're going to sit on it.
- 11:32Speaker 3: So right now, this moment, if you're trying to sell
- 11:36Speaker 3: a house, you're not even close to the position you
- 11:40Speaker 3: were in four years ago.
- 11:43Speaker 2: Uh, Neil. You well, you bought your house a long
- 11:46Speaker 2: time ago, right, yeah, but the.
- 11:47Speaker 1: Cabin we bought within the last four years, and that's
- 11:52Speaker 1: probably up fifty grand maybe more.
- 11:57Speaker 2: Okay, and you paid what for it? Can I am?
- 12:00Speaker 2: Or of course four hundred somewhere it's up. It's so,
- 12:03Speaker 2: it's up ten percent.
- 12:05Speaker 1: Yeah, it's up pretty significantly. You know, we bought our
- 12:09Speaker 1: home fifteen sixteen years sixteen. Oh yeah, now it is
- 12:14Speaker 1: vertually tripled. Oh it what we got it right before
- 12:18Speaker 1: things exploded and got out of our range.
- 12:21Speaker 2: I couldn't buy it now.
- 12:22Speaker 3: It's exactly the point with most people. But you want
- 12:26Speaker 3: to know something, it's actually it's going to cost me
- 12:30Speaker 3: if I want to buy your house less than what
- 12:32Speaker 3: you paid for it.
- 12:33Speaker 2: Do you know that that right? Yes, that's right. You
- 12:40Speaker 2: couldn't live in much. Actually, you like my house, but
- 12:42Speaker 2: it's I do like your house threw. No, it's not fruitfrough.
- 12:45Speaker 3: It's a very old house built at the turn of
- 12:47Speaker 3: the last century. And it's twelve yeah, neat neat house.
- 12:52Speaker 3: And of course Neil has done stuff with it that
- 12:55Speaker 3: very few people do.
- 12:57Speaker 2: All right, let's go to Welle.
- 13:00Speaker 3: A quick word about President Trump and Gavin Newsom, as
- 13:04Speaker 3: you know, they are probably the most public of all enemies.
- 13:08Speaker 3: There is nothing that the President is doing that Newsom likes.
- 13:12Speaker 3: There is nothing that Newsom is doing then the President likes.
- 13:16Speaker 3: A matter of fact, Newsom I think is going to
- 13:18Speaker 3: be running for president. While he is going to run
- 13:20Speaker 3: for president, of course, but a lot of his platform
- 13:23Speaker 3: is going to be anti Trump and anti Trump policies.
- 13:27Speaker 3: Does that work or not? I have no idea. But
- 13:29Speaker 3: in the meantime, evs are a big deal in the
- 13:33Speaker 3: world of Gavin Newsom, and he has unfurled a two
- 13:38Speaker 3: hundred million dollar plan to revive California's stalling electric car market,
- 13:44Speaker 3: and it has just a few fundamental problems. Two hundred
- 13:48Speaker 3: million dollars ain't enough money. It may not reach consumers
- 13:53Speaker 3: quickly enough is another problem. And who gets the money?
- 14:00Speaker 3: Is it a means tested or does everybody get the money?
- 14:03Speaker 3: When there was a seventy five hundred dollars rebate from
- 14:05Speaker 3: the Feds, everybody got it, didn't matter how wealthy you were,
- 14:09Speaker 3: there was a rebate from the state, everybody got it. Well,
- 14:14Speaker 3: now the argument is the money is limited, even two
- 14:17Speaker 3: hundred million dollars. But this is California a lot of people,
- 14:21Speaker 3: and so they're talking about okay, trying to figure out
- 14:26Speaker 3: a means tested and that's up in the air. And
- 14:29Speaker 3: now this budget proposal with a two hundred million dollars
- 14:32Speaker 3: came after the President dismantled federal electric vehicle incentives, blocked
- 14:38Speaker 3: the clean vehicle mandate of California, and two hundred million
- 14:44Speaker 3: dollars would cover about twenty percent of last year's EV sales.
- 14:49Speaker 3: That's the problem is who is going to buy an
- 14:54Speaker 3: EV if there aren't enough programs, rebates, incentive programs out there.
- 15:02Speaker 2: That's number one.
- 15:04Speaker 3: And in order for California to meet its requirements, it's
- 15:09Speaker 3: self imposed exhaust or climate requirements. Evs have to be
- 15:14Speaker 3: a big part of the equation. Can't be done without EV's. Also,
- 15:22Speaker 3: I believe it can't be done without nuclear power, but
- 15:24Speaker 3: that's a different issue. I'm a huge fan of nukes.
- 15:28Speaker 3: I love the idea of people living near a nuclear
- 15:32Speaker 3: power plant never having to have the use night lights
- 15:37Speaker 3: because the scroat just glows blue and it just works out. Well, Neil,
- 15:44Speaker 3: you're shaking your head. So the point is that the
- 15:48Speaker 3: fight continues on with evs. Now a personal note, and
- 15:53Speaker 3: I think one of the reasons evs are and are
- 15:57Speaker 3: selling less and lessumber one, they're still pretty expensive. Number
- 16:04Speaker 3: two and this is the real big one, and that
- 16:07Speaker 3: is at this point, I wouldn't buy an EV if
- 16:10Speaker 3: it was less money than a gas powered car because
- 16:15Speaker 3: there aren't enough charging stations. There has to be a
- 16:20Speaker 3: connection between charging stations and electric vehicles, and there aren't
- 16:25Speaker 3: enough of them. And you, of course you can find
- 16:29Speaker 3: go to your phone if you have any kind of
- 16:31Speaker 3: a program, which I do, and it tells me where
- 16:35Speaker 3: I can find an electric public charging station anywhere near me.
- 16:39Speaker 3: There isn't one within seven miles of my house. Now
- 16:43Speaker 3: there are more than a few gas stations within seven
- 16:45Speaker 3: miles of my house. And so since charging stations have
- 16:51Speaker 3: not kept up with the.
- 16:52Speaker 2: Sale of evs, I'm out.
- 16:56Speaker 3: I bought one. It's a great little car. I loved,
- 17:00Speaker 3: and I have a charger at home. I set up
- 17:03Speaker 3: a charging station in my garage, which a lot of
- 17:06Speaker 3: people do, and I go at night, I plug the
- 17:10Speaker 3: puppy in, and for me, electricity is absolutely free because
- 17:15Speaker 3: I have a solar power I have solar panels, and
- 17:19Speaker 3: I have a battery system in my house. So I'm
- 17:24Speaker 3: literally not paying for electricity, so I don't pay for gas,
- 17:28Speaker 3: and I don't pay for electricity that surpasses the gas issue.
- 17:35Speaker 3: And I'm still getting rid of my IV why because
- 17:39Speaker 3: of range anxiety.
- 17:40Speaker 2: That's the other issue.
- 17:42Speaker 3: Range anxiety that when I start driving, I literally have
- 17:45Speaker 3: to figure out how many miles am I going to go?
- 17:48Speaker 2: Is there a charging station?
- 17:50Speaker 3: Now? There is a charging station at the station, which
- 17:53Speaker 3: I use, And even though I probably don't need it
- 17:58Speaker 3: to go up and down from my house to when
- 18:02Speaker 3: I go to KFI from Orange County, I still charge
- 18:05Speaker 3: because of range and anxiety. And EVS are having a
- 18:10Speaker 3: real problem between those of us who have him and
- 18:14Speaker 3: those who are are proposing more and more evs. And
- 18:17Speaker 3: the administration, and we're talking about the federal administration. Donald
- 18:21Speaker 3: Trump does not like electric vehicles. It's that simple. Donald
- 18:25Speaker 3: Trump likes fossil fuel companies. He likes oil companies, and
- 18:29Speaker 3: oil companies sell oil, and they sell oil which is
- 18:34Speaker 3: made into gasoline. And that's where his political views are.
- 18:41Speaker 3: He's just an oil guy and not an electric vehicle guy.
- 18:45Speaker 3: Although natural gas is used to power power plants and
- 18:52Speaker 3: so therefore it's fossil fuels being used there. But I
- 18:57Speaker 3: am getting rid of my I lease the car when
- 19:00Speaker 3: I leased as supposed to buying it.
- 19:01Speaker 2: Thank goodness, I lease it.
- 19:03Speaker 3: And come my birthday August twenty five, which, by the way,
- 19:07Speaker 3: if it falls on a weekday, I will be coming
- 19:10Speaker 3: in Amy, who is not here today because it's her birthday.
- 19:15Speaker 3: I will work on my birthday because to be born
- 19:19Speaker 3: to me is not that great a It's not that
- 19:22Speaker 3: big an issue. I don't think it shows the accomplishments
- 19:26Speaker 3: that I've made in my life.
- 19:27Speaker 4: Well, technically tomorrow is her birthday. She took, so she
- 19:30Speaker 4: wants to be celebrated tomorrow.
- 19:32Speaker 2: Well can't we celebrate her today? And then she will
- 19:35Speaker 2: ignore her tomorrow.
- 19:38Speaker 1: And say no, sorry, you were gone for your birthday
- 19:40Speaker 1: and that's when we celebrated.
- 19:42Speaker 4: That's on you.
- 19:42Speaker 3: Then if anybody bring if anybody buys me a birthday present,
- 19:48Speaker 3: it is instantly regifted.
- 19:51Speaker 2: As a matter of fact, this year my holiday present.
- 19:53Speaker 3: You guys went out of your minds with holiday presents,
- 19:56Speaker 3: and I have to tell you I don't appreciate them.
- 20:01Speaker 1: You told me the cutting board I gave you was
- 20:04Speaker 1: a chunk of wood.
- 20:06Speaker 2: Yeah it was. It was a shoung. I'm just not impressed.
- 20:10Speaker 2: Just one quick story.
- 20:11Speaker 3: When I took Neil to Neil and I go to
- 20:15Speaker 3: eat meals on a regular basis and then early on
- 20:18Speaker 3: because I always pay, because it's that's yeah, I know.
- 20:23Speaker 3: And here is why my rule is always whoever makes
- 20:28Speaker 3: the most money pays. And I have friends that are
- 20:30Speaker 3: richer than I am, and I just give them the
- 20:32Speaker 3: bill because I'm not going to pay for a meal
- 20:34Speaker 3: with them at all.
- 20:35Speaker 2: So after the fifth.
- 20:38Speaker 3: Or eighth meal with Neil, I asked for the I
- 20:41Speaker 3: went to the bathroom, came back and asked for the check,
- 20:43Speaker 3: and the waitress, the female waitress person said, it's been
- 20:48Speaker 3: taken care of. I go, what do you mean it's
- 20:50Speaker 3: been taken care of? Well, the gentleman you're with paid
- 20:54Speaker 3: the bill. And I looked at Neil and I said, Neil,
- 20:58Speaker 3: let me tell you something. Not not only do I
- 21:00Speaker 3: not appreciate it, not only do I not thank you.
- 21:05Speaker 3: Whatever respect I had for you just went down ten points.
- 21:10Speaker 3: And ever since then, if the bill is put in
- 21:15Speaker 3: front of Neil and we're going and we're eating out,
- 21:19Speaker 3: he will take that little bill. The what do they
- 21:23Speaker 3: call a little the envelope thing, little tray. Yeah, the tray,
- 21:27Speaker 3: and he throws it out in me like a frisbee.
- 21:30Speaker 1: Never again, ever again, absolutely true story.
- 21:33Speaker 2: And I've never paid again.
- 21:35Speaker 1: I will push it towards him while staring him in
- 21:37Speaker 1: his stupid eyes.
- 21:40Speaker 2: Never again. That's right.
- 21:42Speaker 3: And I tend to take everybody that starts working with
- 21:45Speaker 3: me out at least to one breakfast or lunshaw. I
- 21:48Speaker 3: will have I taken out you out to lunch. Yet,
- 21:51Speaker 3: that is correct? Okay, coming up, Okay, that's also correct.
- 21:58Speaker 3: All right, okay, I've given that up. I haven't decided yet.
- 22:03Speaker 2: New Year, New you.
- 22:04Speaker 3: Yeah, there's my resolution that I'm going to actually make
- 22:08Speaker 3: and I'm going to be able to keep it all right.
- 22:11Speaker 3: Oh quick reminder about Fridays, we do Ask Handle Anything,
- 22:15Speaker 3: which is always fun. And what we do is we
- 22:18Speaker 3: record your questions and then Neil chooses whatever question he
- 22:23Speaker 3: thinks is appropriate, usually the ones that embarrass me the most,
- 22:27Speaker 3: and we play them Friday at eight thirty and that's
- 22:30Speaker 3: Ask Handle Anything. And we've been doing this for several
- 22:33Speaker 3: months now and it's just great fun.
- 22:35Speaker 2: So here's how it works.
- 22:37Speaker 3: During the show, you go to the iHeartRadio app and
- 22:41Speaker 3: this show will be being broadcast, and then you click
- 22:44Speaker 3: on the right hand corner up the upper right hand
- 22:46Speaker 3: corner and there's a microphone. Click on that, and then
- 22:49Speaker 3: you have ten fifteen seconds to record your question.
- 22:53Speaker 2: And I'm pretty open about my life.
- 22:58Speaker 3: For example, if you look at the Instagram post at
- 23:02Speaker 3: Bill Handle show, there's a picture of the inside of
- 23:05Speaker 3: my colon and that was from my colonoscopy.
- 23:09Speaker 2: And I'll tell you one of them why I did
- 23:12Speaker 2: that number one.
- 23:13Speaker 3: Because it's of course it's ridiculous and it's a typical
- 23:16Speaker 3: Handle stuff. But also it's important for you to get
- 23:19Speaker 3: a colonoscopy. It's a lifesaver, it really is.
- 23:23Speaker 2: It is.
- 23:24Speaker 3: It's I know, headther is going to have a colonoscopy
- 23:29Speaker 3: next week, right right.
- 23:30Speaker 4: I have a history of colon cancer in my family,
- 23:32Speaker 4: so my doctor wants me to, yeah, earlier than what
- 23:35Speaker 4: I think is recommended. Yeah, So I'm I'm anxious about
- 23:40Speaker 4: it for multiple reasons.
- 23:41Speaker 2: But I know, I mean, what why are you anxious
- 23:45Speaker 2: about it?
- 23:45Speaker 4: I don't like any major medical procedure, and it feels like,
- 23:48Speaker 4: you know, this feels like something big. But I'm also
- 23:51Speaker 4: nervous about the prep I've heard awful.
- 23:53Speaker 2: The prep is horrible. I know.
- 23:55Speaker 4: I'm like, I don't want to do that.
- 23:57Speaker 3: I know.
- 23:57Speaker 2: The prep is I mean, it's got awful.
- 23:59Speaker 3: First of all, you drink a gallon of a gallon
- 24:03Speaker 3: of this liquid the night before, and it's ironically named
- 24:07Speaker 3: go lightly, which I've always wondered.
- 24:10Speaker 2: I'm not kidding you. That is literally the name of
- 24:13Speaker 2: the product.
- 24:14Speaker 3: And so you're and it's to cause, of course, uh,
- 24:18Speaker 3: your entire bottl intestinal system to empty out. So you're
- 24:22Speaker 3: in the bathroom a lot. Let me give you just
- 24:25Speaker 3: a couple of pieces of advice. Number one, don't even
- 24:27Speaker 3: bother with the bathroom. Just go out in the backyard
- 24:29Speaker 3: with the garden host. Oh my god, you might as well.
- 24:32Speaker 3: You know, it's not bad. It's an easy procedure. He's
- 24:39Speaker 3: being hyperbolic.
- 24:41Speaker 2: Great, thank you.
- 24:42Speaker 4: Well, I just there any kind of procedure or anything
- 24:45Speaker 4: we have to go under when they're like you have
- 24:46Speaker 4: to bring someone to drive you home and make sure
- 24:48Speaker 4: they're you know, that makes me ancient.
- 24:50Speaker 3: Oh they have, I mean they're it's they're gonna knock
- 24:54Speaker 3: you out. And you have one of two ways of
- 24:55Speaker 3: doing Obviously, you get the or you can't get the
- 24:58Speaker 3: twilights leap was what they call it, where it's basically
- 25:02Speaker 3: I think it's nitrous oxide, the same stuff they use
- 25:04Speaker 3: in dentist's office. Or you can do what I did,
- 25:07Speaker 3: and that's asked for the propofol. Yeah, yeah, that knocks
- 25:11Speaker 3: you out completely and that extra extra caution, but you.
- 25:17Speaker 4: I think that's what they're doing. They there is going
- 25:19Speaker 4: to be I think an anesthesiologist there, so I think, well.
- 25:22Speaker 2: Then you'll be propofol.
- 25:23Speaker 3: If there's an anesthesiologist there there, then they're going to
- 25:26Speaker 3: use propofol. And you're not going to I mean, you're
- 25:28Speaker 3: going to get on the table and all. Just what
- 25:32Speaker 3: happened to me is I saw the anesthesiologist. The guy
- 25:34Speaker 3: didn't even speak English, and he there was the syringe
- 25:38Speaker 3: and all I saw was they ran an ivy and
- 25:40Speaker 3: I saw him press the syringe. And the next thing
- 25:44Speaker 3: I remember, because you remember nothing, The next thing I
- 25:47Speaker 3: remember it was I was in the recovery room.
- 25:50Speaker 2: Quick word about the recovery room.
- 25:51Speaker 3: That's the fun part is there are bays, you know,
- 25:55Speaker 3: with the curtains that separate the beds, like twenty of
- 25:59Speaker 3: them on side, and they will not let you out
- 26:03Speaker 3: unless you have past gas because you have I'm serious. Yeah, no,
- 26:07Speaker 3: because you have to because you have CO two in
- 26:10Speaker 3: your system.
- 26:12Speaker 2: Oh yeah, no.
- 26:13Speaker 3: The sound effects are tremendous as you as you enjoy yourself.
- 26:19Speaker 3: And then not this time, but the last time I
- 26:21Speaker 3: had colonoscopy I've had.
- 26:23Speaker 2: This is number two.
- 26:25Speaker 3: I remember I was in one of these bays and
- 26:30Speaker 3: you know, I mean, I'm listening to everybody do their
- 26:32Speaker 3: thing too and along and it's just kind of fun.
- 26:34Speaker 3: And then at the far end I heard what sounded
- 26:38Speaker 3: like an elephant in heat trumpeting. And even the nurses
- 26:45Speaker 3: were looking down and they see this every day. They
- 26:49Speaker 3: were looking over there and going, wow, that's impressive.
- 26:54Speaker 2: Oh my god. Yeah, so you'll do fine, you'll.
- 26:57Speaker 4: Do fine, laughing at that, but I also, yeah, I
- 27:00Speaker 4: just will not be able to keep a straight face
- 27:01Speaker 4: if there's a whole row of people, just.
- 27:03Speaker 3: Whole row of people all going into It's like a
- 27:07Speaker 3: xylophone of farts, is what it is.
- 27:10Speaker 4: I'm totally gonna think of you. Then when I'm laying
- 27:13Speaker 4: there and everyone's just ripping.
- 27:15Speaker 3: Along, just toot and tooting along. Oh right, guys, all right,
- 27:18Speaker 3: we are completely done. You're welcome on this Monday morning.
- 27:23Speaker 3: Gary and Shannon are up next. Heather is gone for today,
- 27:31Speaker 3: Amy is back, and the rest of us are here.
- 27:35Speaker 3: There's a you know, and don't forget my kolonosopy picture.
- 27:40Speaker 3: As I said, it looks like the inside of a
- 27:42Speaker 3: Japanese paper lanard, which it does.
- 27:46Speaker 2: Just saying I haven't eaten.
- 27:48Speaker 1: Toda Ley said, Uh yeah, we gonna.
- 27:53Speaker 3: Have a good time with all of it. This is
- 27:55Speaker 3: kf I A M six forty.
