- 0:47gumption and Grace for the go-getter girl.
- 0:51And we are going to talk about how to go after that calling and
- 0:57running the pace of Grace and how to get Fear and striving to
- 1:02a place of total dependence on the Holy Spirit to use our gifts
- 1:07and talents. This is such a powerful story
- 1:10and I can't wait to share it with you.
- 1:12So here's my conversation with Rebecca George.
- 1:16Hi Rebecca. Welcome to she speaks live.
- 1:18I am so thrilled. You're here and we're going to
- 1:21be talking about your new book do the thing gospels Center
- 1:26goals gumption and Grace for the go-getter.
- 1:30Girl, and I just love that word gumption.
- 1:33I mean, you hardly see that I know I know it's one of my
- 1:38favorite words to, so I yeah Jamie.
- 1:41I'm so excited to be here and get to share with you today.
- 1:44So, thank you for having me. Yeah.
- 1:46Well, before we dive in, I always like to ask each guess if
- 1:50they have a favorite scripture verse.
- 1:51I mean a lifers that they hold on to and why.
- 1:55Why is that? Yeah yeah yeah I love that
- 1:59question. I think it's Changed across my
- 2:01life. So I'll give you the one.
- 2:03I would say today. And God really gave me the
- 2:08vision for my own podcast, which is called radical Radiance.
- 2:11From this verse that, he kept bringing me back to in Psalm 34.
- 2:15It's verse 5 and it says those who look to him are radiant and
- 2:20their faces shall never be ashamed.
- 2:23And so, I just love that, when we look to him, when we follow
- 2:26him boldly, he makes us radiant because of his His presence in
- 2:31our lives and I'm just so thankful for that and we see
- 2:35that that idea of Radiance all across the pages of scripture.
- 2:39And so that's sort of been a trail of breadcrumbs that I've
- 2:44been searching for for the last several years in scripture.
- 2:46And so, I'm thankful for the work that God has allowed me to
- 2:50do and having those conversations of what does it
- 2:53look like to radiate? The heart of Christ in all that
- 2:54we do? So I love that verse.
- 2:56Yeah. I do too.
- 2:57And to name your podcast after that, that's Found also, I love
- 3:02your podcast. You have so many great
- 3:05interviews on there. And people sharing about how
- 3:09they radiate Christ with what they do and it's inspiring, it's
- 3:14encouraging. So I know.
- 3:16I'm a listener. You're my mom.
- 3:19Yeah, I listen to you. My fun walks with my dog, so
- 3:24let's talk about why this message is so important to you,
- 3:29what made you e? Even begin writing that.
- 3:32Yeah, I like to lovingly call this book if I like my if I got
- 3:39hit by a bus book, if I got hit by a bus tomorrow and I didn't
- 3:43get to write another book, what would be the message that I
- 3:46would want to leave with women? And it feels I just feel really
- 3:49compelled to share and it is this it's what does it look like
- 3:54for us to connect our gifts and talents that God's given us with
- 3:58how we're bringing him glory? World.
- 4:01And if I think back, you know, I think every book has a thread
- 4:06right that the author's continuing to pull on and chew
- 4:09on and figure out, okay. How do I packaged this into a
- 4:12book? I can think back about 10 years
- 4:15to when God started started, putting this on my heart.
- 4:17I led a non-profit for many years that we donated hand
- 4:23crocheted and knitted hats and letters of encouragement into
- 4:26treatment centers, Cancer Treatment Centers across the
- 4:28country. And as I did that work.
- 4:32I had the opportunity to speak a lot and share about what God was
- 4:35doing and and this whole Ministry came out of my mom's
- 4:39cancer journey and the ways that I was able to encourage her and
- 4:43we package that into Ministry of how we could encourage others
- 4:46and I would stand on the stage and I'd speak and Jamie you'll
- 4:51relate to this afterwards, women would come up to me and share
- 4:54their stories which is my favorite part of getting to do
- 4:56what we do. And and women would come and say
- 5:00Love what God's doing through your mom's story and I have my
- 5:05own version of that, you know, I feel compelled to get involved
- 5:09in this thing. We're to start this business or
- 5:12Ministry and there was always this moment where they would
- 5:16almost hush to a whisper and they would say, you know, but I
- 5:20feel, I feel stuck where I feel scared or I don't know what the
- 5:25first step is or I'm sensing that there's somebody out there
- 5:29already do Doing it better than I could.
- 5:32It all the things that we bump up against as women as we
- 5:35Faithfully pursue what God puts on our hearts.
- 5:38And so I had enough of those conversations that I began to
- 5:42sense. OK.
- 5:43I feel called to write and speak and this is something that I
- 5:48feel really passionate about helping women with and so that's
- 5:53kind of the thread that I've been pulling on and tugging on
- 5:57for several years. And so, now we get to hold a
- 5:59book in her. Zen and have conversations about
- 6:02it, so I'm excited. Yeah.
- 6:03Okay. Do you have your own story of
- 6:06maybe? God was calling you into
- 6:08something new and you had those fears and insecurities yourself?
- 6:14Yeah, absolutely. I would say, every creative
- 6:17Endeavor that I have down with the Lord, I have had to wrestle
- 6:21through the message of this book over and over again, which I
- 6:26think matters is an author, right?
- 6:28And so I would say when I I started that Ministry, that was
- 6:31absolutely the case. And what I share probably more
- 6:35about in the book is the season when God called me away from
- 6:38that Ministry and I married, my husband who is a lead pastor and
- 6:43in that season after we married he was pastoring a church in
- 6:46south Mississippi and so I moved and joined him in Ministry down
- 6:50there. And God really stripped me away
- 6:54of pretty much everything that was comfort and familiarity to
- 7:00me, I moved away from family and friends and everything I've ever
- 7:03known and really in its place, was this new capacity to create
- 7:11in a way I never created before. And it was in that season that I
- 7:15started the podcast and began speaking more and connected with
- 7:19my agent and went down this path of publishing and I faced all
- 7:24the things that I would talk about in the book in that
- 7:26process comparison feeling like somebody's already done it
- 7:29better. Our fear doubt all of those
- 7:32things. And you know, it's not so much I
- 7:36think that we won't experience those things and are calling.
- 7:40I think we all know that that's the case but where are we
- 7:43turning in the midst of that really matters and so that's
- 7:47that's the conversation I love to have.
- 7:49So yeah so good. I think we have similar stories,
- 7:54you know. God moving me away from all I've
- 7:57known and familiarity and Your family, your friends to
- 8:02something totally unknown and like you, that's when I started
- 8:07my podcast that there are so-called compacity.
- 8:10Yeah, it's, you get creative and really have that one-on-one time
- 8:13with the Lord. And I think you're just in that
- 8:18intentional heart position of Life, wanting that that more
- 8:23like God's put that morning you. And so you're like, okay, Lord
- 8:27like what is it? So I know in your book, you You
- 8:30touch on, you know, striving and where that origin comes from.
- 8:35So why don't we just expand on what is driving versus thriving?
- 8:41Yeah, it's a great question and I'll start by saying since we're
- 8:45all new friends here and we're getting to know each other every
- 8:48personality test I've ever taken in.
- 8:50My life has told me some version of the idea of achievement.
- 8:56I've been achiever. That is always come back in the
- 8:59results of any test of Megan. And for a good bit of my life, I
- 9:04think I was really apologetic about that.
- 9:07I think I tried to Tamper that down and the whole, the whole
- 9:11idea of making yourself small, so that others will be
- 9:13intimidated. That type of thing, I've
- 9:15struggled with for a good bit of my life and the Lord and I have
- 9:19really been working through. Okay.
- 9:20What does it mean that I actually hired you to be an
- 9:25achiever I wired you with to be a high-capacity person and to To
- 9:30use that gift. For my kingdom, right?
- 9:33And so, so where's that line? That's the hard distinction to
- 9:37draw. All right.
- 9:38When I look back over early, early years in my life and I
- 9:42know what you're thinking of, is this story that I tell in the
- 9:45book, I can think back to this day and it's so vivid.
- 9:49In my mind, I could see the classroom that I was in in.
- 9:53It's probably second or third grade.
- 9:55And we were learning our multiplication tables.
- 9:57And I, we were taking a quiz about her.
- 10:00Multiplication tables. And I remember finishing the
- 10:03quiz really fast and my teacher came over to my desk and and
- 10:08graded my paper and I got a 100 and I remember her announcing to
- 10:11the class, you know how great of a job that I did and how fast I
- 10:16you know, finish the quiz and I was so proud of the out.
- 10:20Not only, I was so fast but that I was so accurate.
- 10:23And and that is my like earliest memory of striving and it has
- 10:29marked. My life, really and it's
- 10:32something I've struggled with a lot and I think that the more I
- 10:38walk with the Lord and just ask for his wisdom and discernment
- 10:42in how to use my time, and my capacity.
- 10:47I think we begin to realize when we're a little off the rails,
- 10:52right? And I think it's what's next?
- 10:55What we do next after we realize, okay, I am burnout I I
- 11:00am I'm tired. I'm weary I don't even have time
- 11:03to spend with the Lord. It's what happens after that,
- 11:07the intentional decisions that we make to create margin and to
- 11:11create rest and to create time with him, that really matters.
- 11:16And and the reality is, God has given us the time that we need
- 11:22to accomplish what he wants us to accomplish This Side of
- 11:24Heaven. That is true, that will always
- 11:26be true. And so there's also such a case
- 11:31for rest, and we see that in scripture, we see that in the
- 11:33creation story, right? God.
- 11:35Rested on the seventh day of creation and so if he rested we
- 11:40absolutely need to as well. And so really just leaning into
- 11:45him for wisdom and how to create space for that really matters.
- 11:48So yeah, I think that's the one of the I mean the enemy has lots
- 11:54of tactics but one of them is time like, oh my God.
- 11:57Gosh, like absolutely wasting time and it's like this eager
- 12:02like you just feel like you're being robbed of time and you
- 12:05really have to step back and go. What does God say about time?
- 12:10You know, this isn't true. This isn't like, I'm going at
- 12:14his pace. And, you know, if this was
- 12:17supposed to be the right time, then God would bring it, you
- 12:20know, that type of things that you have to constantly remind
- 12:22you of the truth, because the enemy will, you know, tell you
- 12:25otherwise. So, Let's jump into your topic
- 12:30and your book of running at the pace of Grace.
- 12:32Now that were talking about God's timing.
- 12:35What does that look like? Yeah, running at the pace of
- 12:40Grace, really matters a whole lot.
- 12:42And I think You know, we're recording this at the beginning
- 12:46of the year and so I think it's always top of Mind of, you know,
- 12:49what does this year look like what does my capacity look like?
- 12:52What do I spend my time doing and prioritizing and that
- 12:58changes across our seasons was? We may talk about later in the
- 13:01episode, but I think really spending some intentional time
- 13:05with the Lord asking him. Okay, what is priority right
- 13:09now, what's priority? That's not going to change,
- 13:11right? I'm always going to be Dustin's
- 13:13wife. I am for, you know, in this
- 13:16season, he's pastoring our church where we live and what
- 13:20does that look like for me to be a faithful wife to him and an
- 13:23encourager to him, and his ministry that will never not be
- 13:28my calling, right? And it will never not be one of
- 13:31my primary callings in life and outside of that, you know,
- 13:36though occasionally I have a calling and what does my
- 13:39capacity for that look like in this season and so establishing,
- 13:42those foundational things Of. Hey this isn't going to change
- 13:46and if I'm faithful and nothing else, I have to be faithful in
- 13:49this and then outside of that if there's something that you sense
- 13:54God wants you to start, or want you to get involved in and
- 13:57things like that. Having really intentional
- 14:00conversations of okay. What does that look like this
- 14:03year? And how and where can I carve
- 14:06out time for that? Almost creates the ability for
- 14:12us to run at the pace of Grace, right?
- 14:14Because when we are not running at the pace of Grace is often
- 14:18when we are striving and when we've not had intentional
- 14:24conversation around our boundaries and our priorities.
- 14:27And so I think doing that allows us to more Faithfully be able to
- 14:34run at a pace that's sustainable for us for our families and So
- 14:38this is a good topic because I don't know what it is but I
- 14:43struggle at the first of the year and I know where it stems
- 14:48from. Its from me, seeing social
- 14:50media, my environment around me saying, okay, goals dreams you
- 14:56know you need to have it all written out and you need to not
- 14:59like I'm like still in this rest mode and I feel this pressure
- 15:05every time the first the year rolls around That I need to have
- 15:10this motivation and I don't have it.
- 15:14And I love that. It's the pace of Grace, because
- 15:18I'll go into my quiet time, and I feel like I'm just walking and
- 15:23the rhythm of the Lord's and I feel like the world is
- 15:27pressuring me to have that fire and me like but it's going to be
- 15:34it's going to be superficial, it's not going to be real.
- 15:38Also, I have to wait for his timing to get myself going on,
- 15:42those, you know, Ambitions or those dreams.
- 15:44Those goals that I have for the year, but it's almost like, you
- 15:49know, the world's calendars telling me, you know, you need
- 15:52to feel this way. And then the Lord's calendar is
- 15:56like, no. Like I'll give you the timing,
- 16:00you just stay in rest. And, and this isn't just for
- 16:04everyone, but I know there's got to be somebody listening that He
- 16:08feels that pressure of having to have everything kind of figured
- 16:12out for your 2023 as soon as the calendar rolls and the new year.
- 16:17Yeah, I think that's that is such a challenge.
- 16:21And I think there's Grace for both sides.
- 16:25I've been thinking about that a lot because, for some reason,
- 16:27I've seen this almost polarization of the conversation
- 16:31we're having on social media. It's either.
- 16:34Okay, forget the new year, new, you forget New Year's.
- 16:38Oceans, just scrap it all and let's just survive, right?
- 16:42Like I've seen a lot of that type of mentality and then I've
- 16:44seen a lot of the typical what we always see, okay?
- 16:50Here's what I'm running into 2023.
- 16:53Ready to do, right? And I don't think either polar
- 16:57extreme of the conversation is really what God intended for us.
- 17:03And I think we need to stop running to the world for what it
- 17:08Looks like to set goals and to make priorities and to
- 17:14Faithfully live out our calling. I think if you look at the
- 17:19bookshelves and see the books that have released over the last
- 17:22eight or ten years that have been focused on purpose and
- 17:25calling, they've been a lot of messages that leave us exhausted
- 17:31and striving. And I've read a lot of the books
- 17:34myself and that is one of the reasons why I'm probably so
- 17:39passionate about this because as an achiever it's very easy for
- 17:43me to read a message like that and get real motivated and and
- 17:48walk into my year, all guns blazing, and then not really be
- 17:53rooted in God's word and what God would have me to focus on
- 17:57and so I just don't think either end of the conversation is is
- 18:03right and good and what God intended for us.
- 18:05I think really Taking some time and giving ourselves some Grace
- 18:11for hey, we just walked out of the holiday season, which is
- 18:14insane for any human alive on Earth.
- 18:17And as we walk into the new year, like take a deep breath
- 18:20and spend some time with God and some onrush time with your
- 18:24phone, on the other side of the room with him and your planner
- 18:27and your Bible and unpacking that with him, it just really
- 18:32matters. So amen.
- 18:33That's what I need in the next couple weeks here.
- 18:36Yeah, and then I'll get I'll motivated.
- 18:40I love this topic that you share in your book on.
- 18:44What do you do? When you sense God is asking you
- 18:46to quit something and how to leave an assignment.
- 18:50Well and you know I've gone through this many times in my
- 18:55life of how do you tell when you're giving up on something or
- 19:00you're letting go and I was at the flesh or is it the Lord
- 19:06speaking to you and It's a hard thing because sometimes it's not
- 19:10going to be a bad thing where it's going to be clear.
- 19:13Like you're supposed to be that, you know, it's going to actually
- 19:16be something good. Maybe something in Ministry,
- 19:19something that you thought God had put on your heart that was
- 19:24going to last way longer than a dead.
- 19:26So yeah, expand on this Ilia that you share this in your
- 19:31book. It's yeah.
- 19:32I agree because we're all going to face moments where we have to
- 19:36do this and walk through. This.
- 19:38And I think the fear is always, did I let go too soon, right?
- 19:43That's, that's always the thing that we are going to feel shame
- 19:47if we're being real honest about, and I know for me and I
- 19:51talked about this, I went through a season where God asked
- 19:54me to lay down that Ministry that I started, that was
- 19:57beautiful work. That I'm so thankful for what,
- 19:59you know, what God did in that season.
- 20:01And I actually sat down with my mom one day and she brought it
- 20:06up. She said, you know, I'm sensing
- 20:07like You're walking down this path of writing a book and
- 20:11speaking more and starting this podcast.
- 20:13Do you think there's room for the ministry anymore and I
- 20:17needed her to say that out loud. Right.
- 20:20And so immediately I teared up because it had been on my heart
- 20:23and I just hadn't pulled the trigger yet and she said
- 20:26something, I'll never forget. She said Rebecca I saw you be
- 20:30faithful to what God asks you to do and you don't need my
- 20:34permission to lay this down. Down, that's something you and
- 20:39God have to sort out. But if you need me to say like,
- 20:43hey I saw your faithfulness and I trust and I know that you're
- 20:48going to be faithful to where God is leading you now then like
- 20:51you have my permission you know and that's what I would say to
- 20:55the listener, right? If you have been faithful and an
- 20:57assignment, God has given you and you're sensing.
- 21:01Hey this is this is a pivot. I'm going to have to make this
- 21:05is something I'm going to have to lay down.
- 21:09He's given you that wisdom in that discernment for a reason.
- 21:12And and there is, you know, time to really pray through, is this
- 21:16the right time in my laying it down too soon.
- 21:19But if, if you're sensing that, then that's probably something
- 21:24that you you need to lay down. And there's, there's wisdom and
- 21:29leaving something well, right? And so, I think that that
- 21:33requires time and intention on our part as well.
- 21:36And really just learning what That's going to look like but
- 21:40you don't need a permission slip for an assignment to end.
- 21:45And the reality is, we are all going to experience that this
- 21:48side of Heaven things might last longer or not, as long as we
- 21:52thought they would. And that's the beautiful part
- 21:55about continuing to Faithfully follow God into where he leads
- 21:59us. Let's share a little bit of
- 22:01gumption, like, say someone's listening right now, and they
- 22:05just need that too. You know, dude, the thing that
- 22:09God has put on their on their heart.
- 22:12What would you say to that girl? Yeah I love that.
- 22:15So I and we mentioned this a little bit earlier.
- 22:21I think we live in Extremes in our world, we just do, right?
- 22:24It's either all or nothing. It's black and white.
- 22:26When life is a whole lot more gray than we kind of give
- 22:30ourselves credit for. And so this area of gumption and
- 22:33courage and christ-centered confidence that we need, Need to
- 22:38Faithfully live out. What God's called us to do?
- 22:40I think sometimes it feels in opposition to this idea of
- 22:44Grace, right? This was coming to mind the
- 22:46other day on a run. I and you've probably read
- 22:51enough of the content to know I'm a runner and I talked about
- 22:53that a lot in the book and I was really struggling on my run the
- 22:59other day and you know, I'm in the middle of the book launch me
- 23:02and my husband just moved, we are in just an insane season.
- 23:06That's beautiful and awesome, but Micah Cassidy to work out
- 23:10and be active, just looks different than it did 68 months
- 23:13ago and so I was running a route that I run pretty often.
- 23:18I was like man I really want to quit this is awful.
- 23:21I cannot run it as quickly as I used to be able to And I just
- 23:27didn't the Lord say, you know, you can hold gumption and
- 23:32self-discipline and courage and the things that there's a very
- 23:35real case for in my word. Side-by-side with Grace, right?
- 23:42You can have Grace for and I just use this as an example and
- 23:45listener, coming to the conversation.
- 23:47Take this and apply it to your situation.
- 23:51You know, I can have Grace for my body and my season.
- 23:54And what I'm walking through and that my capacity is different
- 23:59and has changed and also like I can finish this run.
- 24:04It's okay. It's okay that I can't run at
- 24:06the same Pace that I would have six months ago.
- 24:08That doesn't mean I Stop right? Like I can still be faithful.
- 24:11I can still put one foot in front of the other and I'll make
- 24:14it back to my house and my just be a little slower than it would
- 24:17have been a few months ago. And so, I think we look at
- 24:21things like gumption and self-discipline.
- 24:24And almost see it as opposing Grace.
- 24:28When I think so many times in our Seasons, we have to hold
- 24:31both and know that. That's okay.
- 24:34That's good. So you talk about living daily
- 24:37dependent on The Holy Spirit was that look like, especially when
- 24:43your whole books about, you know, doing the thing that
- 24:46you've been called to do. Yeah.
- 24:48Yeah, absolutely. So I think so many times, we
- 24:53will set a goal for the year or walk into something.
- 24:57We feel called to do and Not consult the Lord about it at.
- 25:03All right, like not really lean into.
- 25:07Okay? I'm not doing this by my own
- 25:10power or My Own Strength. I'm a broken vessel that God
- 25:14chooses to use on this side of Heaven for his kingdom and for
- 25:17his glory and God really reminded me of this truth in a
- 25:22whole new way. A few years ago, I was running a
- 25:24marathon. And I was reaching the end of
- 25:29the marathon. I had a few miles left to go and
- 25:32I was really struggling. It was a warm day and I really
- 25:35felt like quitting I was struggling so much and I saw
- 25:40this girl on the sidelines of the marathon, it was the st.
- 25:43Jude Children's Research marathon in Memphis Tennessee.
- 25:46And she was actually a patient of the hospital and the closer I
- 25:50got to her and Meanwhile, my arms are chilling.
- 25:53I'm having heat exhaustion symptoms and and I I really want
- 25:56to quit and she's cheering for me.
- 25:58And she's holding this poster that says the same power, that
- 26:04raised Jesus from the grave is living inside of you.
- 26:08You can do this and you can do this as in like big letters
- 26:13across the bottom. And so I started tearing up,
- 26:16which was not helpful and so I keep going.
- 26:20And for the last six or seven miles of that Marathon, I just
- 26:23continued repeating to myself Rebecca, the Power.
- 26:26That raised Jesus from the grave is living inside of you.
- 26:30You can do this and I might seem like a silly example but I think
- 26:36our daily lives are the same. We have to say that back to
- 26:41ourselves and remember that we're not operating in our own
- 26:44strength and Byron power and it's not out of striving that we
- 26:47achieve or move forward. And what God's called us to do.
- 26:51We are partnering with him on this side of heaven and Again
- 26:56the same power that raised Jesus from the grave, the holy spirit
- 26:59is alive in us today and we get to partner with him as we do the
- 27:05thing. And that's such a gift.
- 27:07Yeah. Those are just powerful words.
- 27:10Like, and, and you're right, like just reminding yourself
- 27:13that. I mean, it's just so empowering
- 27:17and I've done running myself. I've never done a marathon.
- 27:21I ran a 10K and the last leg. This was in San, Go and it was
- 27:27on the Del Mar Racetrack and I probably should have seen like
- 27:32where I'm going to be running for this 10K.
- 27:35Didn't even look at a map or anything.
- 27:36I did it with my sister and my sister-in-law and it was hilly
- 27:43and I realized and I and I got real energetic and the middle
- 27:48which they all tell you don't do because I just wait, yeah, a
- 27:54little too early. So I was just struggling the
- 27:58rest of the way and then up ahead was a racetrack and it was
- 28:04thick sand, you know where the horses run and I was like, oh my
- 28:09gosh, it was you just felt like you were going nowhere.
- 28:12I mean. Yeah, we're the molasses and I
- 28:15got sick and I was like, you know, I'm not ever doing this is
- 28:21my last phrase and it was, I never did it again but and I
- 28:25just know. Okay.
- 28:26It's not really for me but I do enjoy running.
- 28:29Is there anything that you would love to share about the book
- 28:33that we did not get to cover? Oh man, well I would say for
- 28:38listeners coming to the episode and they're thinking okay, yes
- 28:41this is what I need in my life right now.
- 28:44And and I want some encouragement and just
- 28:46accountability, as I walk through it, we are doing some
- 28:48really fun things over in our launch Team and giving away some
- 28:53really fun pre-order gifts for those who pre-order the book.
- 28:57And so if you go to do the thing book dot-org, you can order from
- 29:02your favorite online retailer and then go in and join the
- 29:04launch Team where we are. Giving you a 30-day devotional
- 29:08that unpacks different topics that we talk about in the book.
- 29:11Just from the perspective of me and 29 of my other friends, they
- 29:15got to write for it and there is an audiobook version of that
- 29:19devotional that we're giving to you a quiz, a goal planning
- 29:23guide that will help you really practically.
- 29:26Out those goals that you have for the year and a Spotify
- 29:29playlist. It's just really worshipful.
- 29:31And I've loved so much and I prayed encourages you, as you
- 29:34walk through the book. And so I'd love to gift those to
- 29:38you and walk alongside you in the Facebook community that we
- 29:42have going over there. So again that's that's do the
- 29:44thing book dot-org. Awesome.
- 29:47And before we close goals that came to mind when you were
- 29:50talking about it. What's your advice on goals?
- 29:53Like I just hear people say, you know, set them.
- 29:56A small. And by the time you're doing the
- 29:58small thing, it becomes bigger and bigger bigger.
- 30:00What would ya thoughts on that? Yeah, the I love what you said
- 30:05and the thing that comes to mind and how I have how I talk about
- 30:09it, in the book is creating small Finish Lines for yourself.
- 30:13Got along the lines of running, you know.
- 30:15We think about I'll use the example starting a podcast
- 30:18because we can both relate to that.
- 30:20That felt really big and scary to me until I sat down and
- 30:24thought okay. Well The first five or six
- 30:27things I need to do to just get myself on that path, right?
- 30:31I can't have a podcast, will have a microphone, I can't, you
- 30:34know, record with people until I have some mechanism and software
- 30:38to do that. And so I think breaking down
- 30:41your goal into almost smaller Finish Lines along the way,
- 30:45helps keep us encouraged and not bogged down in the overwhelm of
- 30:49the bigness of whatever our goal is.
- 30:52And so I think that's extremely helpful as you.
- 30:56Move forward. So that is something that we we
- 30:59absolutely talk about in the book as well.
- 31:01So yeah, that's so good and I think that's so important and it
- 31:05helps you not feel so overwhelmed because I know when
- 31:09I think a goals it's immediately to the big thing and not the
- 31:13smaller things to get me to the big thing.
- 31:15And so I just focus on the small thing.
- 31:18It doesn't feel as overwhelming so and I love to end with a
- 31:24takeaway. Anything you can leave what the
- 31:28listener to ponder on or take action in.
- 31:31I'd love to hear it. Yeah.
- 31:33What's coming to mind when you say that is just this passage in
- 31:37Ephesians where Paul says we are his workmanship created for good
- 31:44works that God planned long ago for us to do.
- 31:48And so it just reminds me that, you know, are calling and the
- 31:52work that God has placed before us it was Is his good idea long
- 31:57before it was ours, right? And so we get to partner with
- 32:02him, to do his work and build his kingdom on this side of
- 32:06heaven. And sometimes that can feel
- 32:08overwhelming, or scary or weed out.
- 32:11And all the things that we face is women and that are very real,
- 32:14but we get to partner with him and bring him glory, This Side
- 32:18of Heaven, and the work that you do, that might even seem mundane
- 32:21or insignificant today is a Our of God, bringing about his
- 32:29overall Plan of Redemption, you get to be a piece of it, and
- 32:34that in itself is significant. And so I think if we began to
- 32:39see our calling and our work, and that way, I think it would
- 32:42change everything. So good, Rebecca.
- 32:45Well, thank you for sharing this amazing book.
- 32:49Congratulations again, and I highly recommend it.
- 32:54I know it. Going on.
- 32:56Pre-order like you said and get all these goodies and resources
- 33:01and and what's the email address, one more time.
