Kelly: Welcome to the Kelly Jedele Show. I'm Kelly. 17 years of building businesses and zero interest in hustling myself into the ground. If you want the business and the life, you're home. Let's get into it. Kelly Jedele: To see Brandy Carlisle on Sunday night here in Austin at the Moody Center. And there's about 15,000 people that can sit for a concert. And I think she pretty much had it sold out. And I watched the concert Head and Heart open for her, and she came on almost right on time with the twins and the whole beautiful stage and setup. And I I have I don't really know a lot of her music. And it turns out I didn't know very many of the songs that she sang. I did, however, connect with her as an artist and as a person. And there were a few times throughout the concert that she stopped and had a little chat with the crowd, and she was really cute. They she was like, Do you want to hear this? And they'd be like, Yes, everyone's yes. And she's like, Don't encourage me, I'll sit here and talk with you all night, which I thought was super cute. And I and I I saw her as a human and I I thought to myself, like, how does a person, a human, go from singing, presenting to 15,000 people and then walk into her house, you know, maybe tomorrow or or you know, the day after, and her wife is there and two kids, and just be like, you know, how was your day? And what are we having for dinner? And do you have homework? And just like making that transition, like all of the things that She's worried about and concerns and the issues that come up when you're on tour. Just all of those things I was thinking about while watching the concert, of course. So, but hello, I'm Kelly Jedele Thank you for coming to the Kelly Jedele podcast. Today I want to talk about the fears that it has in our life and how we deal with those as people and how we move forward. Because it is affecting me currently and it has over the years. And I think it's something that we should talk about. So thanks for being here. When we get going in our life, it's not like the we get things figured out and the fears go away. That's that's not how life works. And quite o oppositely, the bigger the stage, the bigger the container that we live in, the bigger our fears get. The bigger our problems are possible. And my coach says, you know, higher level, higher devil, like bigger level, bigger devil. And so it's One of those things that we just live with and we are a part of, and it is part of being human. And I found out in the middle of this concert that I wasn't paying attention to the details that it's called the human tour for the Brandy Carlisle concert that I went to. So not only was I thinking of her as a human and like the experience, but that's what the tour was called. And being human and experiencing this life is just a huge, a huge deal. Like it's just not something to be taken lightly on any day. And when you're building a company from scratch, if you're raising children, if you're responsible for other humans at work or in life, there are so many things that can come up that make us question ourselves, question our humanity, question what we're doing and really get into like the our head and make us question like life. Right? There there's not a a way out of this. This is how life goes for all of us. And it really is something for me. Like, I was just thinking back like how how long? What are my experiences? What are actually examples of this? So I just went off the and on my shelf and picked up one of my journals. And from this one happens to be from 2015, so eleven years ago. And the first thing I open up to. The first thing I open up to now of course I go to my journal to share things that aren't easy. So it's not like I'm, you know, over here shouting accomplishments and praises in my journal usually. But I said Saturday, February twenty eighth, twenty fifteen, I've overslept two days in a row. That's how I started. Yesterday I was so hard on myself. I kept letting myself telling myself everything I did wrong and I was not accomplishing. Twenty fifteen. Yeah. I was six years into my business and my daughter was a teenager. Life was not easy. And then I turned to just another random page, you know, a few days later, May 28th. I got overwhelmed yesterday, found out about Let Tammy, a former employee. And we had our electricity turned off at the new house because I never set up an account. been living in this house for a few months and just never set up the account. And I don't know why. I guess renting a home instead of renting an apartment made me forget that little detail. So they turned off the the for lack of payment, they turned off our electricity. So those are just things that come up for me as part of my fear of not getting things right or messing things up or dealing with employees that steal my brand. I wasn't worried about it. But it did upset me for a few days. And and I I got worried about, you know, how my life was and what was going to happen to me on a regular basis back then. And I still do. I still worry about those things. So what's showing up right now for me is, you know, I started this podcast this summer. I started my coaching program a couple months ago now. And I'm building up my speaking career. And It's not just easy and simple. Like all of those things. Am I enough? Am I too much? are people listening? Do you like it? Do you do people care? Do they want to care? You know, like all of those things like are inside of what I do on everything everything that I publish. And so it's it's part of us creating a brand, something that we love, something that we feel proud of. as business owners. And it's every single day, like it's always there. Like a little just little bird on your shoulder, you know, just something that just sits there and just kind of just gives you some weight, right? So it's one of those things that I keep thinking about in my life, like how I deal with this. And quite honestly, like how other people deal with like all of these things. Am I normal? And I talk to other business owner friends and absolutely. They have fears too. This is something that a lot of people deal with. And so I was looking at like how can we work with this? So I came up with a just a method for some of something to to work with and actually try to move forward for you and for me as we as we go through these, you know, challenges and emotional pieces of being a business owner. So the first one is you've got to name it. And I have said this before. You've got to say the fear out loud. You've got to talk to a person that you trust, journal about it, go to therapy. Because if you don't name it, it gets bigger and it will start eating away at your confidence and eating away at your dreams and keeping you from going and doing the things you actually need to do. So you've got to name it. The second one is normalize it. Brandy Carlisle has it. I'm almost positive. I have it. Possibly you have it. Fear is not something that is keeping us from doing things. It's actually something that shows that you care. It shows that this is important to you and that you want to do your best. So it's something that we need to normalize in our lives. It's just something that's there. And the third one is move with it. Move with it. Have it show up with you. Make it be authentic. Something that you're willing to talk about and willing to have conversations with and bring it along with you so that the fear can bring excitement into what you're doing and it can allow you to be passionate and really get involved and really care when things go wrong. We had something that went wrong this morning at my cleaning business and I just feel so bad about it. And it's just something that we have to deal with. And when the people can hear it in your voice, I was like, I want to call the client. I don't want to email them back. Like I want to call and talk so she can hear my voice and know that I care. Like we've got to. Moving with it and bringing it with you along with you is just part of the deal when you're a business owner. And when I say that, it actually makes me feel more calm. It's something that I know that is real in my life. And it's something that I know is real for you, hopefully, that you're okay with admitting it and saying that to the people that are important in your life. So as we walk through these things in our life, I really want us to normalize it, name it, move with it, and be just there for each other and listen to our friends and listen to other business owners that are dealing with these things so that we can actually be human. And be together on this journey because it doesn't get easier. You just get wiser. And that is the experience that comes and you understand like what to worry about and what not to worry about as you go through and try more and more things in your experience. It's just such a huge, huge thing. So I want you to have a big life. And I don't want you to worry about the fears. It's going to happen, but if we can talk about it. more and really normalize these things, I think we can actually be better together. And the fears will come and they'll be part of the show, but they don't need to run it. They don't. The fears can be right alongside us and possibly behind us as they cheer us on to be passionate and authentic in our in everything we do with our branding and who we are and as you talk about it. So go out there, be wildly optimistic, let the Fear, take a back seat, and just remind yourself that there is no human out there that isn't doing a human tour like Brandy Carlisle and out there showing the world that there is fear along the way of what we're doing. There is fear in stuff and we're doing it anyway. We're showing up anyway. We're strong, we're courageous, and we can do this. Thank you so much for listening. Thank you for being here today. And please let me know what your fears are. DM me and and share these things so we can have conversations about this, so we can normalize it and be in community and really know that we are moving forward and building everything together. So if this hit, please make sure that you subscribe so you know when these episodes come out and support us and share it with another woman who needs to hear it, because this is the way this community grows and the way this podcast gets heard, and I want it to be heard and I want to say that out loud.
