- 0:06Speaker 1: Hello, and welcome to No Dribble in a week where
- 0:09Speaker 1: we are talking more about what young ladies are doing
- 0:12Speaker 1: in their various movements than a Jane Austen novel. We're
- 0:16Speaker 1: here together, not speculating on gossip, because that's not what
- 0:19Speaker 1: we do. But it's an exciting week. I'm Caroline Swindell.
- 0:23Speaker 2: You can't talk to me about what happens in the
- 0:25Speaker 2: Jane Austen novel.
- 0:26Speaker 1: It's also in a movie and TV, so really, Oh,
- 0:30Speaker 1: you'd love it?
- 0:31Speaker 3: What movie?
- 0:31Speaker 2: Which one is?
- 0:32Speaker 1: Well, we'll start with Pride and Prejudice like it's just
- 0:34Speaker 1: it's fun and funny and clever and entertaining.
- 0:38Speaker 2: Good right on that. Hi, everyone, Catherine Cox Here, hallo,
- 0:41Speaker 2: Catherine Cox.
- 0:42Speaker 3: Lizzelli's here is Pride and Prejudice, the one where where
- 0:45Speaker 3: she's trying to match make people.
- 0:47Speaker 1: Yeah, well a lot of her novels are about that
- 0:50Speaker 1: because that was women's lot in lives back then. But yeah,
- 0:53Speaker 1: this is the one with the five Bennett sisters and
- 0:57Speaker 1: she ends up spoiler alert, but the story is two
- 0:59Speaker 1: hundred years old marrying mister Darcy's.
- 1:03Speaker 2: All the references everything you just said I've heard before,
- 1:06Speaker 2: but so.
- 1:06Speaker 1: Bridget Chambers' Diary is sort of loosely based on it.
- 1:09Speaker 1: Clueless is based on Jane Austen novel Emma.
- 1:13Speaker 2: What about Bridgeton is that sounds kind of similar.
- 1:16Speaker 1: Like the same sort of type thing about you know
- 1:19Speaker 1: who will the young ladies marry in the night. But
- 1:21Speaker 1: there's a lot more sex in Bridgeton than there is
- 1:23Speaker 1: in Jane Austen or in the sun Crops Supernepple signings.
- 1:27Speaker 1: As far as I'm aware.
- 1:28Speaker 3: Emma's the one that I was thinking of. It got
- 1:31Speaker 3: made into a movie, and I took my husband, who
- 1:33Speaker 3: reads about as many books as Catherine.
- 1:35Speaker 2: We watched The Miss World when You're Away. Used to watch.
- 1:42Speaker 3: Girls at the Playboy Mansion. I'd get home from work
- 1:45Speaker 3: and were like, stop it, you're ruining your brains. You know,
- 1:48Speaker 3: every time you watch that ship you get stupider anyway,
- 1:52Speaker 3: But I took him to watch Emma, and there's a
- 1:55Speaker 3: line in it about the yeomanry is beneath me and
- 1:58Speaker 3: yeomanry is Farmer's right, So there's the fifth generation farmer
- 2:03Speaker 3: absolutely cracked the ships and walked out like no, I'm
- 2:05Speaker 3: not watching that. Good on him, like, oh mate, just
- 2:08Speaker 3: to take a strict movie.
- 2:09Speaker 1: But I assume that you used that line quite regularly
- 2:12Speaker 1: on him, then if you want to make the beneath
- 2:17Speaker 1: me ye.
- 2:24Speaker 3: I don't think the Yeomanry have much to do with
- 2:26Speaker 3: the sun Caught Super Netball signing period, frankly.
- 2:29Speaker 2: But it's been interesting, isn't it. Because we talked about
- 2:32Speaker 2: last week how we thought there was going to be
- 2:33Speaker 2: a free for all, and there's been a flurry. I've
- 2:36Speaker 2: loved some of the social campaigns.
- 2:38Speaker 1: Oh they're great.
- 2:39Speaker 2: Yeah, there was a Giants arrivals board, Airport arrivals board,
- 2:43Speaker 2: and then I think the Firebirds pulled something out of
- 2:45Speaker 2: a bag and tomorrow and the silhouettes for the MAVs
- 2:48Speaker 2: bit bit naff. I mean you can work out who
- 2:51Speaker 2: they are.
- 2:52Speaker 1: But yeah, I will say that I think that my
- 2:56Speaker 1: team is losing the social media cleverness comp at this time.
- 3:01Speaker 2: The swifts have been it's because everyone knows it's signed.
- 3:04Speaker 1: I think, really quiet.
- 3:06Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 3:07Speaker 3: I did like the Vixen's announcement of their resigning. Is
- 3:10Speaker 3: everyone from last year?
- 3:11Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 3:15Speaker 1: I would say though if I was a Super Netball coach,
- 3:18Speaker 1: that would be the last job I'd be wanting to
- 3:20Speaker 1: put my hand up for. It's like they've just won
- 3:22Speaker 1: the Grand Final and here you go, You've got exactly
- 3:24Speaker 1: the same team who are all really tight, really confident, Like,
- 3:28Speaker 1: what are you going to do? You know, it's not
- 3:31Speaker 1: a whole lot you can go in and prove yourself on.
- 3:33Speaker 1: There's a whole lot you can stumble and yeah.
- 3:36Speaker 3: I think what you do, Carolyn is you get out
- 3:37Speaker 3: of their way.
- 3:39Speaker 1: Is that what you want to do as a coach.
- 3:41Speaker 3: Oh, that's what I do, which is why I'm not
- 3:43Speaker 3: a case above Under fourteen.
- 3:46Speaker 2: Liztend rock up to trading with a lounge chair and
- 3:48Speaker 2: a cocktail.
- 3:50Speaker 3: I wouldn't even rock up to training, would just style
- 3:53Speaker 3: it in.
- 3:53Speaker 1: Yeah, give me a show of I find your way out.
- 3:57Speaker 3: Make sure you lock the toilets.
- 4:00Speaker 2: Yeah, there is a reason that you've fallen.
- 4:03Speaker 3: Yeah, that's why I'm not a coach. Tell you who
- 4:05Speaker 3: is a coach? Our old teammate, Catherine.
- 4:07Speaker 2: I know that was a bit exciting, wasn't it.
- 4:10Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 4:11Speaker 3: Great?
- 4:11Speaker 2: Yeah for the Giants. So she was the assistant coach
- 4:13Speaker 2: under Jewels was the assistant coach also with the West
- 4:16Speaker 2: Coast Fever. So she's had a few years to learn
- 4:19Speaker 2: from a couple of the best and the most experienced
- 4:23Speaker 2: Jewels and Dan. Very different head coaches though, but I
- 4:26Speaker 2: think that's got to be good for her, right, Like
- 4:28Speaker 2: she's had a taste of completely different ways of running
- 4:31Speaker 2: the show. It'll be interesting to see what she's like
- 4:34Speaker 2: as a head coach though.
- 4:35Speaker 3: Yeah, she's done her apprenticeship well and truly so, and
- 4:38Speaker 3: I'm excited for it. You know, she's put her heart
- 4:40Speaker 3: and soul into coaching. She coached the Kelpies as well,
- 4:44Speaker 3: so she's you know, she's had experience as a head
- 4:46Speaker 3: coach in the national program. You know, she's amazing. She's
- 4:50Speaker 3: got five kids, lives on the Central Coast in New
- 4:53Speaker 3: South Wales, and you know, moved left a beautiful husband,
- 4:56Speaker 3: cam and and the kids at home and moved across
- 4:59Speaker 3: the country to this system for West Coast Fever. And
- 5:02Speaker 3: so I wrapped up for her that it's all paid
- 5:05Speaker 3: off and it's not just her, it's a whole family.
- 5:08Speaker 3: And that's sort of something you don't really think about,
- 5:10Speaker 3: is you know, when you see a coach like this
- 5:13Speaker 3: and like Jueling, you know it wasn't just her success.
- 5:16Speaker 3: It was the success of her amazing kids and her
- 5:19Speaker 3: They all did it as a team, and I think
- 5:21Speaker 3: Narrator and Cameron have done it as a team as well.
- 5:24Speaker 3: So I'm really really pleased for it. I'm really excited
- 5:26Speaker 3: for it, and I'm excited to see what she can do.
- 5:28Speaker 1: Yeah, it's great too that it is like sort of
- 5:32Speaker 1: a line of succession, that it's rewarding someone who's been
- 5:35Speaker 1: with the club. I like to see people getting promoted
- 5:38Speaker 1: from within.
- 5:39Speaker 2: Yeah, because there was a bit of talk around the
- 5:41Speaker 2: announcement that a lot of people were underwhelmed by it
- 5:45Speaker 2: because they thought it was going to be all new
- 5:46Speaker 2: and fresh. You're right, It's kind of silly, isn't it,
- 5:49Speaker 2: because you lose the way things have run. I appreciate
- 5:52Speaker 2: the Giants want to be in a different position than
- 5:55Speaker 2: what they were this year. They want to get further
- 5:57Speaker 2: up the ladder. But you've also got a you know,
- 6:00Speaker 2: on of the people that have been there and done
- 6:02Speaker 2: the hard work and know the club and know the
- 6:03Speaker 2: structures and know the players and all of the above.
- 6:05Speaker 2: And clearly they like her because the players would.
- 6:07Speaker 1: Have some input, and I would have thought having everything
- 6:10Speaker 1: new is as bad as having nothing new, you know.
- 6:12Speaker 1: It's like so, so I think there's some real wisdom
- 6:15Speaker 1: in this and also just some justice. It's like, let's,
- 6:19Speaker 1: you know, give people a chance when they've demonstrated that
- 6:22Speaker 1: they they are ready for it and they've done their
- 6:25Speaker 1: done their apprenticeships and the like. But yeah, I think
- 6:28Speaker 1: that's exciting.
- 6:29Speaker 2: And a big new recruit picked up straight away to
- 6:31Speaker 2: Lucy Austin isn't yikes. They've still got some holes to
- 6:36Speaker 2: fill though they do.
- 6:38Speaker 3: Yeah, I saw that. When I saw that arrival's board,
- 6:41Speaker 3: I started. I did start to speculated.
- 6:43Speaker 2: Well, we all did, didn't we. I was sitting with
- 6:45Speaker 2: the FitzGeralds at the time, and we didn't we start
- 6:48Speaker 2: to like, no, this is and it's I believe a
- 6:51Speaker 2: little bit of showmanship that they're not actually all things
- 6:55Speaker 2: that are happening. So they might have teased us a
- 6:59Speaker 2: little bit. There's not enough room for all those people.
- 7:02Speaker 2: They already had six or seven signs, so there was
- 7:05Speaker 2: no gaps there for others. But it got us all thinking,
- 7:08Speaker 2: didn't it. We got the peep of the paper out hang
- 7:11Speaker 2: on a minute.
- 7:11Speaker 3: Where if I draw a line to hear to get
- 7:14Speaker 3: the map out, D.
- 7:15Speaker 1: Get the map exactly and Danelle Wallam posting her her
- 7:21Speaker 1: boring pass on her way to Way to Perth. That's
- 7:23Speaker 1: caused a lot of discussion. Grace saying she was leaving
- 7:27Speaker 1: Sydney caused a lot of discussion, but it's like, well,
- 7:30Speaker 1: she lives in New Zealand, but it's home, so she
- 7:32Speaker 1: will leave leave Sydney from time to time. So I
- 7:35Speaker 1: would like to give a shout out to Donna Lowe
- 7:38Speaker 1: in the Facebook group. So Donna, of course is the
- 7:43Speaker 1: partner of Darryl Milton, so they are the house of Stats.
- 7:45Speaker 1: But Donna did us all a great service by starting
- 7:49Speaker 1: up a discussion a post and it's like put everything
- 7:52Speaker 1: you know here, everything you're hearing here, So it's my
- 7:55Speaker 1: one stop shop to find out what's going on because
- 7:57Speaker 1: and this isn't We don't spec on gossip in this
- 8:01Speaker 1: podcast because even if you guys didn't know something, if
- 8:05Speaker 1: you speculated about something and it happened to be correct,
- 8:08Speaker 1: then there's going to be questions about whether you are
- 8:12Speaker 1: leaky sieves or whatever. So we don't and they don't
- 8:16Speaker 1: tell me anything because I am one hundred percent of
- 8:18Speaker 1: leaky sieves. So Drives, bring me all of your theories
- 8:24Speaker 1: because I'm loving it all. Every little bit of Internet
- 8:28Speaker 1: slew thing that is going on and what people people
- 8:32Speaker 1: working out, who's following who on Instagram and that what
- 8:35Speaker 1: that might mean for signings. I love it.
- 8:37Speaker 2: I'm there for it all you mentioned Dennel Wallom though
- 8:40Speaker 2: posting that photo. Is she going to end up back
- 8:42Speaker 2: here this year? I don't know, Well, Thunderbirds need a
- 8:45Speaker 2: shooter lightning and now down a shooter. Yeah, maybe she'd
- 8:51Speaker 2: probably want to be back. I don't know how long
- 8:53Speaker 2: you can go living in New Zealand and making the
- 8:56Speaker 2: Diamond Squad. Surely it's not two years.
- 8:58Speaker 1: Surely you're looking at me as though I'm going to
- 9:01Speaker 1: have anything useful to say about this. I'm looking at you.
- 9:04Speaker 1: But I hope she caught something.
- 9:05Speaker 2: Well.
- 9:06Speaker 1: I wouldn't have thought so would I thought I would
- 9:08Speaker 1: have thought it is much more difficult. I think it's
- 9:10Speaker 1: really smart that Lucy Austin has made the move that
- 9:12Speaker 1: she has, or she didn't know that there might have
- 9:14Speaker 1: been a better you know, things might have been better
- 9:17Speaker 1: for her at Thunderbirds next year than they were this
- 9:20Speaker 1: year anyway, but she's I think she made the right move.
- 9:22Speaker 1: That it's like you've got to be showcasing yourself in
- 9:25Speaker 1: front of the people who are making the decisions.
- 9:27Speaker 2: Right, how's about buying MAVs memberships though? People joys us
- 9:33Speaker 2: that's going to be a good little side picked up
- 9:36Speaker 2: Tara Hinchliffe, great gain, picked up Bachelor, great gag. Can
- 9:41Speaker 2: you imagine bachelor at the front of jock? And so
- 9:47Speaker 2: they haven't got a coach though, which is interesting. So
- 9:49Speaker 2: the last I had heard, which was, do you know
- 9:53Speaker 2: what I reckon? You could with that team?
- 9:55Speaker 1: Why do you do both Victorian teams? Since you don't
- 9:58Speaker 1: go to training, it doesn't matter. You can take on
- 10:00Speaker 1: a few more, get them to train against each other.
- 10:03Speaker 2: Then you don't have to do anything to the one.
- 10:05Speaker 3: I tell you this is cost saving at every turn, now, yep, okay,
- 10:09Speaker 3: I mean look, I'll speak to the I'll speak to
- 10:11Speaker 3: the peaks in charge and and I mean there aren't
- 10:13Speaker 3: by two different organizations, but they won't mind.
- 10:15Speaker 1: Sure, but it's a way we can get you on
- 10:17Speaker 1: some sort of decent pay for what you do for
- 10:19Speaker 1: the network community.
- 10:21Speaker 2: Two head coaches play, could you have tagine me coaching?
- 10:25Speaker 3: I am so creepy and so no and I'm no,
- 10:28Speaker 3: I can I just make it very very clear. It
- 10:31Speaker 3: is the last thing that I want to do and
- 10:32Speaker 3: I don't know enough about stuff. Yeah, i'd like just shooters.
- 10:36Speaker 3: I don't know the post. It's all the same. Just
- 10:38Speaker 3: go and put up two hundred shots and come back
- 10:40Speaker 3: to me when you're sitting on ninety percent.
- 10:41Speaker 2: That's what Mary and McCormack used to always say before
- 10:44Speaker 2: we played. Just get your bloody goals in. Yeah, that
- 10:46Speaker 2: was that was her pep talk.
- 10:48Speaker 1: That was pretty much me at our last training session
- 10:50Speaker 1: yesterday for the under twelves, last training session last year,
- 10:54Speaker 1: because we're not playing finals.
- 10:55Speaker 2: So so that's it this week.
- 10:56Speaker 1: Yeah, that's it. We're all going to go get tattoos
- 10:59Speaker 1: on Monday.
- 11:01Speaker 2: Why wait? Do it straight after the game?
- 11:03Speaker 1: I get a mcflurry on the way, a tattoo of
- 11:06Speaker 1: a mcfluirry, which mcfluy is this they've had They've had
- 11:11Speaker 1: zero mcflutter.
- 11:14Speaker 2: Oh do you have a coxie?
- 11:15Speaker 3: After the two thousand and eight premiership, I wasn't in
- 11:18Speaker 3: the team, but I met you guys out and we
- 11:20Speaker 3: went to King's Cross and you got a tat and
- 11:23Speaker 3: to say, okay, I'll go first, and then the rest
- 11:25Speaker 3: of the team went or not.
- 11:27Speaker 2: We're little the little bastards. This is how it played out.
- 11:30Speaker 2: So We've gone to Bondi for drinks as a team,
- 11:33Speaker 2: which was great, and then we'd been drinking most of
- 11:36Speaker 2: the afternoon, so the discussions start started to happen around
- 11:39Speaker 2: the tattoos. I had nothing to do with it. It
- 11:41Speaker 2: was Kim Green Vanessa where Aaron Bell all those guys, Yeah,
- 11:44Speaker 2: let's do it, let's do it. And I was like, Okay,
- 11:46Speaker 2: if you want to do it, I'll be the responsible
- 11:48Speaker 2: captain that I am and I'll find somewhere to go.
- 11:51Speaker 2: So I found it, took them there and then I
- 11:54Speaker 2: was like, right, I'll go first guys because they were
- 11:56Speaker 2: like oh, and then they all chickened out. I was like,
- 12:00Speaker 2: for frixate, the last thing I need is another tattoo,
- 12:03Speaker 2: your little bastards.
- 12:04Speaker 3: Now I've remember like twelve thirteen including me, with six
- 12:08Speaker 3: foot twelve women standing in a tattoo parlor. This photographer
- 12:11Speaker 3: runs in from the Daily Telegraph. Oh, I'm going to
- 12:14Speaker 3: get photos of you guys who've been out photographing something
- 12:17Speaker 3: else and the guy who owned the tattoo parlor because
- 12:20Speaker 3: they do not want photos tagging into tattoo parla. Do
- 12:22Speaker 3: remember he went ballistic and you're like, well, I was like, okay, everybody,
- 12:27Speaker 3: don't you just leave now we might go Catherine, have
- 12:29Speaker 3: you got your tag? Good? Yeah? Ghos.
- 12:31Speaker 2: But isn't it funny how paranoid we were too about
- 12:34Speaker 2: that being in the paper and getting in trouble. Honestly,
- 12:38Speaker 2: when you think about what everybody else gets up to.
- 12:40Speaker 2: Speaking of, did you see the vixens tattoos? Yes? How cute?
- 12:45Speaker 1: It is very cute. This was quite a funny competent
- 12:47Speaker 1: the week. You should probably explain.
- 12:51Speaker 2: Well, I was wondering why they only got the vix Yeah,
- 12:54Speaker 2: it's like, surely if you're going to get the name.
- 12:56Speaker 1: Capital capitalize capital X.
- 12:58Speaker 2: Yeah, very cute. And then in the middle of the night,
- 13:00Speaker 2: for whatever reason, I was like, oh, I wonder if
- 13:02Speaker 2: that's Roman numerals of some sort. So thought about it
- 13:05Speaker 2: and then I was like, what was the score of
- 13:06Speaker 2: the game. So I went about had little search and
- 13:09Speaker 2: it was fifty nine. I was, oh, my god, that's
- 13:10Speaker 2: really smart because that's Roman numerals. And so I sent
- 13:13Speaker 2: that to you guys, and Lisa's like, oh, that's amazing,
- 13:16Speaker 2: and the Cawn's like, it's actually not fifty nine Roman numerals,
- 13:22Speaker 2: which it isn't.
- 13:23Speaker 1: I did first say it was cute, but it's not yet.
- 13:25Speaker 1: So fifty nine is l I X, so v ix
- 13:31Speaker 1: doesn't actually exist in Roman. And I know, I do
- 13:35Speaker 1: know what a pain in the ass I am at
- 13:39Speaker 1: this exact moment, and that this is this is a
- 13:43Speaker 1: deeply annoying part of my personality. But I really struggled
- 13:46Speaker 1: to learn Roman numerals at school and so it's like
- 13:48Speaker 1: it's kind of ingrained into me. And so when I
- 13:50Speaker 1: read that, I went, oh, that's cute, and they're like, oh, no,
- 13:53Speaker 1: it's wrong. It's it's wrong. You've got your it's like
- 13:55Speaker 1: spelling your tattoo wrongly. But it's not because it's a
- 13:58Speaker 1: very clever artifice.
- 14:01Speaker 2: It is very cute though, like technically fine, it's a
- 14:04Speaker 2: great but it's a great idea. What are the chances
- 14:07Speaker 2: that their final ground, final score would be the vix?
- 14:11Speaker 2: Not technically, but.
- 14:12Speaker 1: You don't want to get a tattoo it's his licks.
- 14:18Speaker 1: But it made me then think why are we still
- 14:21Speaker 1: using Roman numerals in this day and age? So whether
- 14:24Speaker 1: you write licks or vix, it's still it's three characters
- 14:28Speaker 1: to write fifty nine, and to write fifty nine is
- 14:31Speaker 1: two characters, and if you write the year in Roman numerals,
- 14:34Speaker 1: it's much longer than actually just writing the year. And
- 14:37Speaker 1: it's I don't understand why this persists this of all
- 14:40Speaker 1: things that we have. I mean I quite like it.
- 14:42Speaker 1: It's it's attractive, but it's hard, like you know, the numbers,
- 14:47Speaker 1: you know, and then anything beyond that, it's like, I
- 14:48Speaker 1: don't know.
- 14:49Speaker 2: It's for sexy tattoo moments. There we go. The only reason.
- 14:54Speaker 1: Is to destroy and clock pedants and clocks. We went
- 14:59Speaker 1: up when we're in London. We went up inside the
- 15:02Speaker 1: Elizabeth and Elizabeth Tower, which is what houses Big Bend,
- 15:05Speaker 1: which is the clock, which is the bell rather and
- 15:08Speaker 1: then the clocks. And if you look at the at
- 15:11Speaker 1: the clock face, one of the digits is not traditional
- 15:15Speaker 1: Roman numerals because it didn't fit the style at the time.
- 15:18Speaker 1: I think it's the I think it's the ten. Maybe
- 15:22Speaker 1: there is something there's different about one of them. And
- 15:24Speaker 1: what number of the what color are those numbers on
- 15:27Speaker 1: the clock and Big Bend black? No Prussian blue? Prussian, Prussian, Prussian.
- 15:34Speaker 1: I'm throwing a Prussian, an't you? Because apparently that was
- 15:36Speaker 1: that was a sign of wealth at the time. So yeah,
- 15:41Speaker 1: it's fascinating.
- 15:42Speaker 2: I'm assuming Big Bend didn't ring or chime or you
- 15:45Speaker 2: were it did up in his grill.
- 15:47Speaker 1: It did, and it gave us the protection and we
- 15:49Speaker 1: were up there and just shape your whole vibrating situ
- 15:53Speaker 1: so if you touched the wall next to you, you
- 15:55Speaker 1: could feel it vibrating.
- 15:57Speaker 2: But it was Mother's Day present.
- 16:01Speaker 1: Well I did. I said, it's all right, I'll stand
- 16:03Speaker 1: at the back against the wall.
- 16:07Speaker 2: I'll be here every hour on the hour.
- 16:09Speaker 1: Sorry, can we just do that again? I didn't quite
- 16:11Speaker 1: get it.
- 16:13Speaker 3: You guys go ahead look at London without me.
- 16:15Speaker 1: I'm court all day long.
- 16:20Speaker 3: Mom are going to London to be ben every holiday.
- 16:24Speaker 1: Anyway.
- 16:25Speaker 3: Yeah. Even funny though, he's thinking about tats with the
- 16:28Speaker 3: Vixen's Like, how funny that we were so scared would
- 16:30Speaker 3: get caught and get in trouble. And now the clubs
- 16:33Speaker 3: are putting it on their social media. Things have changed.
- 16:37Speaker 1: It's a great prank. But I got you on though,
- 16:39Speaker 1: isn't it like if that was the setup that it's
- 16:41Speaker 1: like you go first, No, I'm not doing it.
- 16:44Speaker 2: Yeah, and that made it five for me, probably four
- 16:47Speaker 2: too many.
- 16:48Speaker 1: Yeah, now, we're having to start getting rid of that,
- 16:50Speaker 1: which I haven't done yet.
- 16:51Speaker 3: Well, Matthew didn't take you the meat trade. Did take
- 16:55Speaker 3: it to a parlor once. You know, I've been at
- 16:58Speaker 3: lunch all day, so at least your tat have a
- 17:00Speaker 3: story they do.
- 17:01Speaker 1: Where were you? Did you go home for a lightdown
- 17:03Speaker 1: or something?
- 17:04Speaker 2: She was there, I was there, laughingcouraging.
- 17:06Speaker 3: Okay, don't make it beat your last name on your east.
- 17:10Speaker 1: But he was the responsible adult at the time, was he?
- 17:13Speaker 3: He was? He was the only one who hadn't been
- 17:14Speaker 3: lunch and he picked us up on the way home
- 17:16Speaker 3: from work, and we're like, He's like, one's bad enough now,
- 17:21Speaker 3: but two of them living in my house.
- 17:36Speaker 2: All. I've got a serious question for you too.
- 17:38Speaker 1: Oh okay, I don't know that we're necessarily the right
- 17:41Speaker 1: audience for that, but let's give it a go. Is
- 17:43Speaker 1: it adulting?
- 17:44Speaker 2: You're my demographic? So how much protein do you have
- 17:49Speaker 2: a day? My god, I'm shocked at how little I
- 17:53Speaker 2: have and I'm supposed to have.
- 17:55Speaker 3: I just found out how much are you supposed to have?
- 17:58Speaker 2: Like?
- 17:58Speaker 1: Ay, shit tongue?
- 18:00Speaker 2: When speaking of shitting, you can't when you have all
- 18:03Speaker 2: the protein that you're supposed to have.
- 18:04Speaker 1: This is a problem. So I'm a heavy protein eater, but.
- 18:08Speaker 2: Yeah, naturally or with supplements and stuff. No, naturally. Yeah,
- 18:12Speaker 2: So what do you have a day? Not to become
- 18:15Speaker 2: a boring nutritional channel here.
- 18:17Speaker 1: But eggs cheap? Like, are you talking about quantity? I
- 18:20Speaker 1: don't know, because there is a I love meat, I
- 18:23Speaker 1: love eggs, so I love yogurt.
- 18:26Speaker 2: So you're heating over one hundred grams a day of protein?
- 18:30Speaker 1: Look, I think, so yesh, yeah.
- 18:33Speaker 2: Elizabeth, do you have that much?
- 18:35Speaker 3: Oh God, I need a heart. May I don't have
- 18:37Speaker 3: that at breakfast at all. I'm married to meat tro right,
- 18:41Speaker 3: fair enough. We meet every single woman. We eat meat
- 18:44Speaker 3: every night with every dinner. Now, I have learned over
- 18:46Speaker 3: the years to reduce that amount of meat. But I
- 18:50Speaker 3: would say at night, we'd probably have each of us
- 18:53Speaker 3: have one hundred, one hundred and fifty grams of meat easily,
- 18:56Speaker 3: especially if we're having a big stake of me.
- 18:59Speaker 1: But that's he's not one hundred grams of protein, is it.
- 19:02Speaker 1: That's that's like the last.
- 19:04Speaker 3: One hundred grams of meat. Yeah. I don't know how
- 19:06Speaker 3: much does it take to get I'm just I've just
- 19:08Speaker 3: done a Google, just say that we give something as
- 19:11Speaker 3: a leisurement other than shitloads.
- 19:14Speaker 1: Aryl, I can tell you, Darryl, can you tell me
- 19:17Speaker 1: routine we're meant to eat well.
- 19:20Speaker 3: You need one to one point two grams of protein
- 19:23Speaker 3: per kilograms of body weight per day, so roughly seventy
- 19:26Speaker 3: five to ninety grams of protein. So this is something
- 19:30Speaker 3: about eighty grams of protein.
- 19:32Speaker 2: The reason this came up is I had lunch with
- 19:34Speaker 2: Briany and Sarah Barrett last week. Haven't seen that we
- 19:37Speaker 2: don't see each other during the season. We'll like see
- 19:39Speaker 2: each other across a netball call Brinnie Acle obviously swift coach. Anyway,
- 19:43Speaker 2: she said at the end of the season, one of
- 19:44Speaker 2: her girlfriends said, I've made you an appointment ten o'clock.
- 19:47Speaker 2: Here's the place you have to go, right, So she
- 19:49Speaker 2: rocks up, and it's this lady to Parla No that
- 19:54Speaker 2: says maybe next time. Anyway, she gets there and it's
- 20:02Speaker 2: this lady that does the whole holistic everything tests, everything,
- 20:06Speaker 2: asks all the questions. So Briani got read the ride
- 20:10Speaker 2: act about her protein and doing weights and all of
- 20:13Speaker 2: the stuff that people women of our mature age are
- 20:15Speaker 2: supposed to and when she was telling me. I was
- 20:18Speaker 2: gobsmacked because I'm nowhere near it either. But so she's
- 20:21Speaker 2: sent through basically what you're supposed to have, and it's
- 20:24Speaker 2: one hundred plus grams of protein per day if you're
- 20:28Speaker 2: around our age bracket.
- 20:30Speaker 3: But that's a lot.
- 20:31Speaker 1: Yeah, it is a lot. And that's why I have shit.
- 20:33Speaker 1: So I don't know exactly what I eat. But because
- 20:36Speaker 1: I'm a weightlifter, because with crossing weightlifting, I do a lot,
- 20:40Speaker 1: I eat a lot of protein. Ye, but I've been
- 20:43Speaker 1: froging for days off the back of trying. It's not
- 20:47Speaker 1: good for your guards, is it you?
- 20:49Speaker 2: I don't know right anyway, I'm on board, guys.
- 20:52Speaker 3: But that's good because I think you need to eat
- 20:54Speaker 3: more meat in your ID.
- 20:57Speaker 2: I do. And I'm trying to stay away from the
- 20:59Speaker 2: supplement stuff because I reckon that's what gives you the
- 21:01Speaker 2: gut aches, like the protein bars and the supplements and
- 21:04Speaker 2: stuff like, if you can eat it naturally, probably better, right.
- 21:07Speaker 1: Well, I assume that's the case with everything, but there's
- 21:10Speaker 1: some stuff. Actually I work with a comedian named John Crooks.
- 21:12Speaker 1: He's got this great bit and he said, you know,
- 21:14Speaker 1: people shame you for taking supplements because you meant to
- 21:16Speaker 1: get it from your every day Diane. He said, I'm
- 21:19Speaker 1: taking krill supplements and honestly, I'm encountering bugger all krill
- 21:23Speaker 1: in my data day.
- 21:27Speaker 2: What's krill even supposed to do?
- 21:29Speaker 1: I think it's like fish oil. I'm going to say
- 21:33Speaker 1: Omega nine, but it could be Omega threes, could be
- 21:36Speaker 1: any wales eat?
- 21:39Speaker 2: Yes? Do we want to look like a one?
- 21:42Speaker 1: Remember? Remember will Moments build a krill in it? Was
- 21:47Speaker 1: it Happy Feet had build a krill in it?
- 21:51Speaker 3: Krill supplements our podcast will be like o.
- 21:58Speaker 1: Help people feel peaceful and go to sleep at night?
- 22:06Speaker 1: Can you do? Actually, you know what. I've had a
- 22:09Speaker 1: request for you to do more Scottish accents, which I
- 22:12Speaker 1: find extraordinary.
- 22:13Speaker 2: But let's let's stick it to the whales.
- 22:16Speaker 3: Let's do a whale?
- 22:17Speaker 2: Ready all together, coming Elizabeth, Let's sound like scoopy.
- 22:31Speaker 1: That's skippy. Can anyone do a dolphin?
- 22:40Speaker 2: I'm trying to think about it.
- 22:41Speaker 1: If I gave you a couple of drinks first.
- 22:46Speaker 3: The Dolphins show when we were kids, Flipper Dolphin us
- 22:49Speaker 3: to talk to the flippery.
- 22:55Speaker 1: Oh my god, because Flipper was like an ocean Lassie,
- 22:59Speaker 1: wasn't he like just solving crimes and Skippy was Skippy
- 23:05Speaker 1: was little sister?
- 23:07Speaker 2: Oh well you Skippy was. All these impressive.
- 23:10Speaker 1: Animals are not as good anymore. It's the Internet. It's
- 23:16Speaker 1: destroyed the life saving animals.
- 23:18Speaker 2: But now we know we've got a whale living up
- 23:21Speaker 2: on a Liz.
- 23:24Speaker 1: So the short answer to this is get your protein
- 23:28Speaker 1: intake correct and advice given on this podcast should not
- 23:33Speaker 1: substitute for actual advice of any credibility. Can I just
- 23:38Speaker 1: say though, I did see something this morning. So Rachel
- 23:41Speaker 1: is who came on our summer series, former top level
- 23:45Speaker 1: umpire in our game. She's now a crossfitter and in
- 23:48Speaker 1: a very short period of time, has completely eclipsed anything
- 23:52Speaker 1: that I've managed to do in seven or eight years.
- 23:54Speaker 1: And if you don't know CrossFit, this doesn't mean much,
- 23:57Speaker 1: but if you're a cross fit it's a big deal.
- 23:58Speaker 1: She's got her first bar mustle up, which is you're
- 24:01Speaker 1: standing hanging under a bar that you have to jump
- 24:03Speaker 1: up to and you swing yourself up and so you're
- 24:05Speaker 1: then above the bar. It is an amazing strength and
- 24:09Speaker 1: gymnastics move and she's just nailed it. So I think
- 24:12Speaker 1: getting out of nitball umpiring, I saw that post has
- 24:17Speaker 1: given her time to focus on some very important things
- 24:21Speaker 1: like CrossFit. Amazing. She's doing so well.
- 24:23Speaker 2: I'd struggle to get one chin up in these days.
- 24:26Speaker 2: Let alone do that?
- 24:26Speaker 1: Get you? Come on, I'm on.
- 24:30Speaker 2: Theloomy for days. I'm allowed.
- 24:32Speaker 1: No, oh yeah it is. Actually yeah, you just have
- 24:35Speaker 1: to watch your watch your cholesterol.
- 24:38Speaker 2: Oh god, I know it's too much stuff, too much.
- 24:43Speaker 3: I like the doctor Carl approach to what to eat.
- 24:45Speaker 3: Go eat lots of things in moderation.
- 24:48Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I like that too. But then when you
- 24:52Speaker 2: hear there's a really big gap in what you should
- 24:54Speaker 2: be eating, I get a little nervous, but I like.
- 24:57Speaker 1: I still think the theory eat mostly play plants is
- 25:01Speaker 1: a pretty good rule of thumb, so because you can
- 25:05Speaker 1: get protein from plants too.
- 25:07Speaker 2: And it grapes plants wine technically it's a vine. You're welcome, everybody.
- 25:16Speaker 1: Oh and we quite often will have an afternoon snack
- 25:19Speaker 1: of salty vegetable sticks hot chips. Oh yeah, I.
- 25:25Speaker 2: Must say I'm done for that.
- 25:28Speaker 3: Yeah, well, lots of bollive oil. Actually, when I was
- 25:30Speaker 3: in the jungle, they like that. They obviously they starve
- 25:33Speaker 3: you from food. But what Dominica pointed out as the
- 25:38Speaker 3: woman with Itangian ancestry in the group that we had
- 25:41Speaker 3: unlimited olive oil to cook with, and so she just
- 25:45Speaker 3: decided and it was great. She just put olive oil
- 25:48Speaker 3: and everything. And by the end, because we were all
- 25:49Speaker 3: so hungry, we were just pouring olive oil and our
- 25:51Speaker 3: rice and on our beans for.
- 25:53Speaker 2: Lunch, oh, just for flavors.
- 25:54Speaker 3: So we just no, just to fill us up, fill
- 25:57Speaker 3: our bellies up. But you know, then everything on the
- 25:59Speaker 3: way out, it just became like sleek.
- 26:02Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, very good.
- 26:03Speaker 1: I bet they've that's ruined it for everyone else now.
- 26:06Speaker 1: Image they've gone and done and said, well, we can't
- 26:08Speaker 1: give them so much olive oil because they've worked it out.
- 26:11Speaker 2: At one time a bandsactly we.
- 26:12Speaker 3: Did work at it. Bad news, kids, Beer is not
- 26:16Speaker 3: high in protein.
- 26:17Speaker 2: Oh. I love that you're still googling this though.
- 26:19Speaker 1: What alcohol is high in protein?
- 26:21Speaker 2: I'm going to say nothing.
- 26:23Speaker 3: Okay, surely there's a cocktail with like cream in it
- 26:27Speaker 3: that ups your protein in taketoes.
- 26:29Speaker 2: Also cream or milk in it also increases the size
- 26:31Speaker 2: of your ass.
- 26:32Speaker 1: But speaking of it up yesterday, I had quite an interesting day,
- 26:36Speaker 1: I feel, and this is the second of these that
- 26:38Speaker 1: I have done. I filmed and a reptile dysfunction medication advertisement.
- 26:45Speaker 1: I am now making a fine line in a newly
- 26:49Speaker 1: satisfied middle aged wife. That's the role that I'm playing
- 26:53Speaker 1: in these advertisements.
- 26:54Speaker 2: Wow, now, how come there's a take two to this? Well?
- 26:57Speaker 1: They I did one advertisement for me, then they back
- 27:00Speaker 1: and see can you do another one? It's like, well,
- 27:01Speaker 1: you're sure, you pay well and it's good fun and
- 27:04Speaker 1: you give me lunch and that's nice. But I've got
- 27:06Speaker 1: a different husband this time. So yeah, it's such a
- 27:10Speaker 1: that's right. Well I'm a serial monogamous, I think, is
- 27:12Speaker 1: what's going on?
- 27:13Speaker 2: So oh I love this. Now when do we get
- 27:16Speaker 2: to see this one?
- 27:17Speaker 1: Well, I don't know.
- 27:18Speaker 3: I think it'll be.
- 27:18Speaker 1: They turn these things around, these guys quite quickly. It's
- 27:21Speaker 1: a Father's Day campaign, so I guess it will be.
- 27:23Speaker 3: It will be.
- 27:24Speaker 1: It's a very it's a funny premise. It's sort of
- 27:26Speaker 1: like this Father's Day, give your father something that he'll
- 27:29Speaker 1: really like, gift him a b So it's just fall
- 27:34Speaker 1: on so many levels and it's like it's a gift
- 27:36Speaker 1: from a moment too. But what's funny is that each time.
- 27:40Speaker 3: Kids don't want to know.
- 27:43Speaker 2: From your mind on your birthday exactly.
- 27:46Speaker 1: Well, it's a grown up child, it's not not a
- 27:51Speaker 1: twelve year old.
- 27:55Speaker 3: Like when I. When I when Matthew and I kiss
- 27:57Speaker 3: each other and we do it deliberately in front of
- 27:59Speaker 3: the children, they're like, I mean they're omittedly they're thirteen
- 28:02Speaker 3: and nine. But I can't ever see that change. I
- 28:04Speaker 3: think they'll always find it gross.
- 28:06Speaker 2: Oh totally.
- 28:07Speaker 3: You know. I used to tease Catherine because your beautiful
- 28:10Speaker 3: parents always hold hands and I was like, ooh, Catherine,
- 28:13Speaker 3: they love it.
- 28:14Speaker 2: Like that two times and that was it.
- 28:22Speaker 1: Well, so my stepdaughters, who are twenty eight and thirty,
- 28:26Speaker 1: nearly both of them, they've moved past revulsion when their
- 28:30Speaker 1: father and I kiss. But it may help that I'm
- 28:33Speaker 1: not their biological mother. So maybe my biological children will
- 28:36Speaker 1: never get over it.
- 28:37Speaker 2: They still don't want to know if their father's got
- 28:39Speaker 2: a though.
- 28:40Speaker 1: No they don't. They don't know. But this is why
- 28:43Speaker 1: the ad is funny. Yes, and the first ad I
- 28:46Speaker 1: did actually Freyer, who did the stand up set at
- 28:50Speaker 1: our live show in Melbourne. Freyer played My Daughter and
- 28:56Speaker 1: the and the setup in that was if you want
- 28:58Speaker 1: your adult children to move out of home. Pilot can
- 29:02Speaker 1: help because it's like and she's just there the whole
- 29:04Speaker 1: way going. This is disgusting. They are at it constantly.
- 29:09Speaker 1: It's quite weird though, because in both of these cases
- 29:12Speaker 1: the men who play my husband I know a bit
- 29:14Speaker 1: through comedy, So it's sort of like, probably be better
- 29:18Speaker 1: if I knew you well or didn't know you at all.
- 29:21Speaker 2: So do you actually get intimate to the like even
- 29:24Speaker 2: a kiss or whatever. I can't remember the last ad. No,
- 29:28Speaker 2: the first.
- 29:28Speaker 1: The first one there was sort of the arm around
- 29:31Speaker 1: the shoulder and even things like that. So yeah, but
- 29:33Speaker 1: this one, there's no, there's no physical contact.
- 29:37Speaker 2: That would be interesting. Would you have a like a
- 29:39Speaker 2: work snog on with someone?
- 29:41Speaker 1: Imagine doing that as a job. People having to do
- 29:44Speaker 1: sex scenes and things. I know they are highly choreographed.
- 29:47Speaker 1: It's like you'll put your hand here and then this
- 29:50Speaker 1: will happen, and then this will happen. But it's not.
- 29:52Speaker 1: I just I mean, look, I'm puerile and don't take
- 29:58Speaker 1: many things seriously, but I would find it extremely hard
- 30:01Speaker 1: to take that job seriously.
- 30:02Speaker 2: So still a bit of PTSD from the tongue pash
- 30:06Speaker 2: in top Gun the original. Yeah, and it's like Tom
- 30:13Speaker 2: was just a bit all over the place. I think.
- 30:15Speaker 2: I'm still I watched.
- 30:17Speaker 3: I watched with my daughter not that long ago, when
- 30:20Speaker 3: she was just horrified when she saw that, and I'm like, dude,
- 30:23Speaker 3: it's the best part of the movie. Yeah, great.
- 30:26Speaker 1: Do you not like Top Gun?
- 30:27Speaker 3: I love Top Gun. She just thought that whole tongue
- 30:30Speaker 3: business with Tom was just like you could just see
- 30:33Speaker 3: going away was happening.
- 30:37Speaker 2: Yeah, and he did stuck his tongue in her mouth.
- 30:39Speaker 2: She couldn't breathe.
- 30:41Speaker 1: Oh, there's a lot of jokes I'd like to make here,
- 30:44Speaker 1: but I believe we're stepping into highly litigious territories.
- 30:50Speaker 2: Can you keep them?
- 30:54Speaker 3: Was Top one or it was the second one? Better?
- 30:56Speaker 3: O G or Top Gun two?
- 30:59Speaker 1: I think one was better, but I loved number two.
- 31:01Speaker 1: I didn't expect to. I went in with very low
- 31:04Speaker 1: expectations and then I thoroughly enjoyed it. I thought it.
- 31:08Speaker 1: I thought it maintained enough of the tone of the
- 31:12Speaker 1: first one to work. Like I think if they'd tried
- 31:15Speaker 1: to be too far away from that, it would have
- 31:18Speaker 1: just not worked. But I thought they did a great job.
- 31:20Speaker 2: Actually, I got a bit annoyed watching it for the
- 31:22Speaker 2: first time because I was like, oh, this is just
- 31:24Speaker 2: like the first one. Oh, I was exactly saying it's
- 31:26Speaker 2: the first one. But then I've watched it about twelve
- 31:28Speaker 2: times since love.
- 31:29Speaker 1: But that's what I loved about it, that it is.
- 31:31Speaker 1: I will say though, in that first one, like it
- 31:34Speaker 1: doesn't reflect well on the US Navy because Maverick so
- 31:38Speaker 1: he was a student and then he flew like one
- 31:41Speaker 1: mission and then they went, Okay, great, you can have
- 31:44Speaker 1: whatever job you want, and he went, well, I'll go
- 31:45Speaker 1: and teach everyone else. It's surely someone with more experience
- 31:48Speaker 1: should be teaching at the Top Gun school. So anyway,
- 31:53Speaker 1: just just an issue there for hr in the Top
- 31:56Speaker 1: Gun movie forty years ago. The big issues today gottny
- 32:08Speaker 1: gossip that you're allowed to tell us that you just
- 32:09Speaker 1: want to tell me privately, and I've gotriplers, but I.
- 32:13Speaker 2: Want to hear your comments before about the Top Gun
- 32:15Speaker 2: and the passion and stuff that you won't tell everybody.
- 32:18Speaker 2: So we'll do a little swapsies after.
- 32:19Speaker 1: Okay, all right, that's good.
- 32:22Speaker 2: I know there's there's announcements coming. I just want to
- 32:26Speaker 2: know when.
- 32:26Speaker 3: Well, it has to be seen do you know what
- 32:28Speaker 3: the announcements are?
- 32:30Speaker 2: Well, I know there's players and movements and bits and
- 32:33Speaker 2: pieces that aren't out yet. There seems to be a
- 32:36Speaker 2: lot of talk around silver ferns coming to Australia Shaws
- 32:40Speaker 2: Australian shaws, but not one has been announced yet, which
- 32:44Speaker 2: is interesting. So that will be great when that starts
- 32:48Speaker 2: to happen and where they fall.
- 32:50Speaker 1: How many silver ferns do you reckon we're going to get?
- 32:53Speaker 1: Is it six? Is it two?
- 32:55Speaker 2: You know we're more like six?
- 32:57Speaker 1: Okay, wow?
- 32:58Speaker 2: Yeah, which is which is a shame for their league
- 33:01Speaker 2: though its big time, but no exciting for us. I
- 33:06Speaker 2: feel like there's at least five I know of.
- 33:08Speaker 1: I'm disappointed that we can't get Amelia around here Canazio.
- 33:11Speaker 1: I love watching her play, but she's taking some time off.
- 33:13Speaker 1: I hope she's okay. I hope she comes back.
- 33:14Speaker 2: But is she taking a domestically season off or just
- 33:17Speaker 2: an international?
- 33:18Speaker 1: Oh? I don't know.
- 33:19Speaker 2: She may be here. I know nothing on that one.
- 33:22Speaker 1: Okay, that's that is a genuine speculator.
- 33:25Speaker 2: She's a big speculation. She is taking international time off.
- 33:27Speaker 2: I know that not playing.
- 33:28Speaker 1: Constant that's a shame too. I would be shamed not
- 33:30Speaker 1: to see her play. So Liz, do we have to
- 33:33Speaker 1: buy tickets for that? Soone is that happening, do you know?
- 33:35Speaker 3: Yes, so tickets go and sayt I think on the
- 33:37Speaker 3: twentieth of August.
- 33:39Speaker 2: Now, how's the Olympic push going, because it looks like
- 33:41Speaker 2: it's gaining some momentum.
- 33:43Speaker 3: Yes, So we've got I think twenty five thousand or
- 33:46Speaker 3: thirty thousand signatures for the pledge already, which is great.
- 33:48Speaker 1: So I'd love to get on to that this afternoon.
- 33:51Speaker 1: I'm sorry I haven't done it yet. I will do
- 33:52Speaker 1: it today, I'm true.
- 33:56Speaker 3: Okay, So we've got thirty thousand and two pledges as
- 33:59Speaker 3: of the stuff to noon, So looking, Kevin, please go
- 34:02Speaker 3: and build it just all through adds up. So I
- 34:04Speaker 3: write a column in The Australia on the weekend arguing
- 34:08Speaker 3: as best as I could about why this is the
- 34:11Speaker 3: moment for our sport. But it's interesting, people go, it's
- 34:14Speaker 3: not played in enough countries, actually it is. It's not
- 34:17Speaker 3: played by enough people, actually it is. It doesn't have
- 34:21Speaker 3: global appeal, actually it does. So you know, we've got
- 34:25Speaker 3: a bit of work to do around educating people about
- 34:28Speaker 3: just the enormous breadth of our sport. I think it's
- 34:31Speaker 3: surprising when people find out that if you go and
- 34:33Speaker 3: have a look on the ranking, like they have a
- 34:36Speaker 3: fish rankings in Switzerland or amongst them in the United States. So,
- 34:41Speaker 3: and it's actually been really good. I've been contacted by
- 34:44Speaker 3: people from netball Switzerland and net bill France, who you know,
- 34:48Speaker 3: the IOCs in their hoods. They want to help.
- 34:50Speaker 2: So it's actually been need to go over and visit them.
- 34:53Speaker 2: I'm happy to help you and carry a bat.
- 34:55Speaker 3: You are so helpful. Cas. Look, you're amazing. The sacrifices
- 34:59Speaker 3: you make for our sport just unbelievable. I wanted to
- 35:03Speaker 3: get a reference.
- 35:04Speaker 1: Has just made me think of chocolate obviously. I saw
- 35:07Speaker 1: something today in a media group that I'm a member
- 35:10Speaker 1: of that's called so the June Licorice and Chocolate Company
- 35:15Speaker 1: apparently put a call out for chocolate testers every year,
- 35:20Speaker 1: and I gather that is going to happen soon. So
- 35:23Speaker 1: if you are a chocolate tester, they send you chocolate
- 35:27Speaker 1: once a month and you have to give your opinion
- 35:30Speaker 1: on it.
- 35:30Speaker 2: June as in j U n e E. The little
- 35:34Speaker 2: town that didn't you have someone from triple J when
- 35:36Speaker 2: you're always on triple J.
- 35:37Speaker 1: That was from the birthplace of.
- 35:42Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 35:43Speaker 1: Oh yes, there's a statue of Lorry Daily and JUNI.
- 35:48Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 35:48Speaker 1: Anyways, so keep your eye on that, because I reckon
- 35:50Speaker 1: there's a bunch of dribblers who'd be really good chocolate testers.
- 35:54Speaker 3: Do you have to like have keep your palette pure
- 35:56Speaker 3: if you're going to test things and taste things? Though?
- 35:59Speaker 1: I think this is just marketing thing, but I did
- 36:01Speaker 1: see that. I was when I was looking it up.
- 36:04Speaker 1: Are there are jobs where there are chocolate testers? And
- 36:07Speaker 1: if you work for Cadbury in the UK and you
- 36:09Speaker 1: are a chocolate taster, you get paid something like forty
- 36:13Speaker 1: pounds a year, But the average salary of a Cadbury
- 36:17Speaker 1: employee is ninety thousand pounds a year. So I think, wow,
- 36:22Speaker 1: it's a job for people who love it, because that's
- 36:25Speaker 1: a fair old whack of salary to for go, isn't it. Yeah,
- 36:30Speaker 1: But it must just be a part time thing, right,
- 36:32Speaker 1: That must be why the salary is so low, because
- 36:34Speaker 1: you can't be you can't spend forty hours a week
- 36:37Speaker 1: tasting chocolate.
- 36:39Speaker 2: As a job because all of that pay is then
- 36:41Speaker 2: going to the gym membership. You'd have to have, yeah,
- 36:44Speaker 2: to keep that in check, Elizabeth, do you want like
- 36:46Speaker 2: an apple saubet, palate cleanser or something in between your chocolate?
- 36:49Speaker 2: Is that where you're after?
- 36:50Speaker 1: Very nice?
- 36:50Speaker 3: Yeshase, that would be great, That would be good. Actually,
- 36:53Speaker 3: I did a speaking gig this week at a brewing
- 36:56Speaker 3: plant in Queensland. The they brew beer and they also
- 37:01Speaker 3: do a heap of soft drinks and speaking well. I
- 37:05Speaker 3: did a little bit of contract yes, and it was
- 37:09Speaker 3: really interesting. The woman who runs the whole plant, or
- 37:12Speaker 3: the person who runs a whole plant is a woman
- 37:14Speaker 3: and she was really interesting. She's a chemist by tray,
- 37:17Speaker 3: and I was like, you tusters next meeting. He goes,
- 37:21Speaker 3: so I've done some tasting stuff and there's nothing worse
- 37:23Speaker 3: than eight o'clock on a Monday morning. They've got to
- 37:26Speaker 3: taste beer. And I'm like, oh, yeah, no, I don't
- 37:28Speaker 3: want to be a tasted on a Friday night.
- 37:30Speaker 2: Yes.
- 37:31Speaker 3: I don't know whether they sounds press, but it's not.
- 37:33Speaker 1: I went to UNI and I grew up in Brisbane,
- 37:35Speaker 1: went to university there. The four Ex brewery there used
- 37:38Speaker 1: to do brewery tours and you had to go through
- 37:42Speaker 1: the brewery tour, which was when you're twenty two. It's
- 37:45Speaker 1: not that interesting now, I'd find it fascinating you go
- 37:48Speaker 1: through that, but then at the end they give you
- 37:49Speaker 1: they just give you free rein in this room for
- 37:51Speaker 1: about forty minutes with all of the beers. And so
- 37:53Speaker 1: obviously we would regularly do that during the university to
- 37:58Speaker 1: go ahead pre load at the four X. So dribblers,
- 38:03Speaker 1: tell me if four X still does that one if
- 38:05Speaker 1: anyone is up in Briston and has done that reconly, when.
- 38:08Speaker 3: We were in the hub for COVID where where Catherine
- 38:11Speaker 3: and I stayed at Milton is right, like we were
- 38:13Speaker 3: on the other side of the road from the four
- 38:15Speaker 3: X brewery. Yes, every time they brewed you could smell
- 38:20Speaker 3: the wheat and the hot sometimes it was almost overwhelming,
- 38:25Speaker 3: and like I drink, I was like, well, per cover that.
- 38:28Speaker 2: The other times we're out on the balcony just.
- 38:32Speaker 3: There.
- 38:32Speaker 1: Used to be also in Milton there used to be
- 38:36Speaker 1: an Arnet's biscuits factory. So when you would drive along
- 38:40Speaker 1: that road, you drive along Milton Road and you get
- 38:43Speaker 1: the whiff of the four X Brewery and then you
- 38:46Speaker 1: turn right and then left onto Coronation Drive. And you'd
- 38:48Speaker 1: get the smell of the Arnet's biscuit.
- 38:50Speaker 2: Factory down at Botany, isn't it every time you go
- 38:55Speaker 2: past the corn flakes you can smell the corn flakes?
- 38:58Speaker 1: Do you know the history of corny barre invented? John
- 39:02Speaker 1: Kellogg invented them because he thought that if people ate
- 39:06Speaker 1: a very bland diet, they would be less likely to masturbate.
- 39:10Speaker 1: It was meant to what Yeah, they don't put it
- 39:16Speaker 1: in their marketing campaigns nowadays, but yeah, yeah.
- 39:22Speaker 2: What did he care about the masturbation? For?
- 39:24Speaker 1: I think he deeply approved a disapproved of it. But
- 39:27Speaker 1: also I think it was about that whole thing about,
- 39:29Speaker 1: particularly for men, not depleting the body and maintaining the
- 39:33Speaker 1: strength and the sort of the virility. And this was
- 39:38Speaker 1: all in that era when they had these wellness spas
- 39:41Speaker 1: and doing really weird stuff with you know, it was
- 39:44Speaker 1: just all kind Now yeah, well, yes, now we've come
- 39:46Speaker 1: full circle, haven't we. So here shoved this coffee up
- 39:50Speaker 1: your bum. It'll make you healthier. Yeah.
- 39:53Speaker 2: I love corn flakes and you know what, it's my
- 39:55Speaker 2: go to if I've ever had a long travel day,
- 39:58Speaker 2: I just want something like fresh.
- 40:00Speaker 1: And you can't get it for a private time, you
- 40:02Speaker 1: think I better.
- 40:03Speaker 2: Yeah, not for that reason, but yeah, that's crazy.
- 40:11Speaker 1: So I know this because I did a show, a
- 40:14Speaker 1: show a few years ago, and I did it in
- 40:16Speaker 1: Sydney and it was as part of the show, I
- 40:19Speaker 1: did a bit of wanka bingo. So it's like, here's
- 40:22Speaker 1: here's your card and I'll draw a number out and
- 40:25Speaker 1: if something comes up that applies to you, you tick
- 40:27Speaker 1: a box on your card and once you've got a line,
- 40:29Speaker 1: you've you've got bingos. So things like do you keep
- 40:32Speaker 1: a worm farm? You know, all all all the Sydney stuff.
- 40:35Speaker 1: Do you have a regular wine supplier? Do you say
- 40:39Speaker 1: Buffalona instead of Barcelona? Buffalona? And so? And the prize
- 40:45Speaker 1: for the person who won that was a giant box
- 40:47Speaker 1: of Kellogg's corn flakes because obviously, if you're a wanker
- 40:50Speaker 1: you need those. But yes, I like them too, they
- 40:52Speaker 1: taste nice. But there we go another biddings, you'll learn another.
- 40:56Speaker 2: Bit of rib and it all seems to come from you.
- 41:01Speaker 1: Yes, well, this is the value that I add. What
- 41:04Speaker 1: do you know about netball? Well, my undertwelves haven't won
- 41:06Speaker 1: a game this season, But let me tell you about
- 41:08Speaker 1: the corn flake and the Roman numerals. All right, so
- 41:14Speaker 1: what's everyone got on this week?
- 41:15Speaker 2: I'm going to get a heart check now. I'm going
- 41:17Speaker 2: to see if there is one that's very responsible, isn't it?
- 41:20Speaker 1: Good?
- 41:20Speaker 2: Girl? I love it when you get the flyers and
- 41:21Speaker 2: the mail that you do for all these checks. Is
- 41:23Speaker 2: an old person anyway, talking about you've actually won.
- 41:27Speaker 3: You've got the trifector this year to Colsco.
- 41:29Speaker 2: Yeah check now, groove check there you go.
- 41:33Speaker 1: Good job. That's that's adult team it is, isn't it
- 41:36Speaker 1: very responsible?
- 41:37Speaker 2: Funny though, because I spoke to the doctor this morning,
- 41:39Speaker 2: She's like, it's forty five minutes and I was like,
- 41:41Speaker 2: oh no, I said, am I supposed to have jim
- 41:44Speaker 2: gear or something. I've never had one done before, so
- 41:46Speaker 2: I have no clue. And I thought, because I'm going
- 41:47Speaker 2: straight from here and this is all I had, so
- 41:49Speaker 2: I didn't want to be running on a treaty with
- 41:51Speaker 2: my jeans and stuff on. And she'said, oh no, no,
- 41:54Speaker 2: it's more just chats and then they'll do some tests
- 41:56Speaker 2: or whatever. I've not had one before, you guys, what
- 41:59Speaker 2: I am waiting for? No?
- 42:00Speaker 1: But I know Pete has to get on the treadmill.
- 42:02Speaker 1: At the cardiologist. They give him a stress test there, so.
- 42:05Speaker 2: I don't think it's I think it's the initial something yeah,
- 42:08Speaker 2: like whatever you've got.
- 42:09Speaker 3: To or something fun. The cardiologist. You can tell it's
- 42:13Speaker 3: designed by a bloke. So I had to do it.
- 42:15Speaker 3: When I went to the jungle, I had to have
- 42:17Speaker 3: the full medical and they discovered that I've got taki
- 42:20Speaker 3: kadia and behind and I don't have his stress test.
- 42:25Speaker 3: But you've got to run. You can't wear a bra.
- 42:28Speaker 2: Are you joging?
- 42:30Speaker 1: What?
- 42:30Speaker 3: No? So I had to run and no bra, and
- 42:33Speaker 3: I was like, try to holp my bood. Yes, you guys,
- 42:36Speaker 3: don't cuts. I'm like these nipples knas if you let me.
- 42:39Speaker 2: Wear a bra, that's a stress of a whole level.
- 42:42Speaker 1: That's not painful.
- 42:44Speaker 2: Well.
- 42:44Speaker 1: I had an MRI for the first time a couple
- 42:46Speaker 1: of weeks ago because I've got a torn meniscus. And
- 42:49Speaker 1: what a deeply unpleasant experience.
- 42:50Speaker 2: And do you.
- 42:53Speaker 1: Have to be so loud?
- 42:54Speaker 2: Well, I find that quite oddly therapeutic. I don't know,
- 42:57Speaker 2: just the loud kind of white noise.
- 43:00Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 43:01Speaker 2: I like it, probably because I've had so many of them.
- 43:03Speaker 2: I find it just relaxs them and you like, I've
- 43:05Speaker 2: never had one.
- 43:05Speaker 1: Before, But I can understand why people find them, why
- 43:08Speaker 1: they people get very claustrophobic in them.
- 43:10Speaker 2: Well, yes, because you didn't have to get your head
- 43:12Speaker 2: anywhere nearer though if you need done, which yes, those
- 43:15Speaker 2: that whole is small, right.
- 43:17Speaker 1: The only problem I had is, you know, you've got
- 43:19Speaker 1: to lie extremely still, yes, And because it was the
- 43:22Speaker 1: knee I had sort of propped up one way, so
- 43:25Speaker 1: I was just kind of lying just a little bit
- 43:27Speaker 1: off balance. And then I start twitching at one stage,
- 43:31Speaker 1: like things are starting to and I thought, I'm I'm
- 43:34Speaker 1: going to move here in a way that means I
- 43:36Speaker 1: have to do it all again.
- 43:37Speaker 3: Like I didn't.
- 43:37Speaker 1: I didn't find it scary er anything. As I said,
- 43:40Speaker 1: I didn't have to have my head in there. But
- 43:41Speaker 1: I can totally understand why if you're claustrophobic, which I'm
- 43:44Speaker 1: not particularly, I don't think. I don't know, maybe I am.
- 43:47Speaker 1: I just haven't been put under that sort of pressure,
- 43:49Speaker 1: but I can. I can understand. But it's like this
- 43:51Speaker 1: surely doesn't have to be so loud.
- 43:52Speaker 2: In this day and yeah, that's crazy, isn't it. But
- 43:54Speaker 2: they do have the open ones now though too. If
- 43:56Speaker 2: you're claustrophobic, y, yeah.
- 43:57Speaker 1: That's cool.
- 43:59Speaker 2: All right, we've lost us again.
- 44:00Speaker 1: We lost Liz, so Dribbler's we just lost Liz, but
- 44:09Speaker 1: she's back because she's an innovator, so she's jumped on
- 44:12Speaker 1: another device. But it is time for us to wrap up.
- 44:14Speaker 1: But we do have to talk about We have a
- 44:16Speaker 1: we've released our new merch which is very exciting. So
- 44:20Speaker 1: the link for that is on the Facebook page and
- 44:22Speaker 1: I will pin it to the top. It's it's some
- 44:25Speaker 1: cool stuff I think we've got.
- 44:26Speaker 2: I'm done that. One of the crop tops nice, No
- 44:30Speaker 2: you're not. Yeah, there's like sort of crops what are
- 44:33Speaker 2: they called muscle tops, muscle tea.
- 44:35Speaker 1: Well, see, I don't mind a crop top because they're
- 44:37Speaker 1: not actually cropped on me. They're just the right length
- 44:40Speaker 1: for my body. So I was working with a woman
- 44:44Speaker 1: yesterday who's two inches shorter than I am, so I
- 44:47Speaker 1: obviously teased her mercilessly. But yes, well, thanks and thanks
- 44:51Speaker 1: to everyone who's inviting their friends to join the Facebook group.
- 44:54Speaker 1: We've had some enormous growth this week, which is which
- 44:56Speaker 1: is terrific because we love people joining us. Please make
- 44:59Speaker 1: sure they know how to listen to the podcast. Please
- 45:02Speaker 1: subscribe to the podcast, Please rate the podcast. Please buy
- 45:06Speaker 1: the merchandise.
- 45:07Speaker 2: Yes, I'm getting some this week.
- 45:09Speaker 1: Yes, it's good stuff.
- 45:10Speaker 2: And so I love the new logo, the halfnitball called logo.
- 45:13Speaker 2: It's very retro call.
- 45:15Speaker 1: It's nice.
- 45:17Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 45:17Speaker 1: But everyone, have a great week. Keep sharing, Keep sharing
- 45:20Speaker 1: your wild theories about who's going where. Jump on Dona
- 45:24Speaker 1: Lowe's post and anything you hear or sniff or think

- 45:37Speaker 1: Daryl's also been doing some good work in the Facebook group.
- 45:40Speaker 1: He willed Lucy Austin into that Giant's uniform with his
