- 0:09Speaker 1: a region pockets, Welcome to Patriot's Unfiltered. Where do you
- 0:19Speaker 1: guys come down on the criticism of the Bills and
- 0:23Speaker 1: their fans? I don't know what you want Bills fans
- 0:25Speaker 1: to do. They're excited about their team. They wait forever
- 0:28Speaker 1: talking about the jack I'm not who am I even
- 0:31Speaker 1: talking about? Talking about the Bengals. Yeah, I have to
- 0:33Speaker 1: admit my totally terrible take, like after it happens, like
- 0:36Speaker 1: you chain link, you know, is it too much to
- 0:40Speaker 1: ask to have changed with a funny like in college
- 0:44Speaker 1: they have the digital Yeah, I don't watch You don't
- 0:47Speaker 1: watch college football because you have a girlfriend. Like to
- 0:49Speaker 1: have a league where an official can look at it
- 0:51Speaker 1: and say that's really that's not that's not much there.
- 0:55Speaker 1: I wish that someone would have common sense to do that.
- 0:58Speaker 1: But that jackass will probably get the great that he
- 1:00Speaker 1: needs to move on to the next line, gets the
- 1:02Speaker 1: congratulations for having the balls to make the call that. Now,
- 1:07Speaker 1: there are plenty of things that you can criticize Kyle
- 1:08Speaker 1: Shanahan about cap I think I think he gets a
- 1:12Speaker 1: little get out of I think he gets can we
- 1:14Speaker 1: balance the volume or maybe move fall a few feet
- 1:16Speaker 1: away from Yeah, you know, just have Fred not say
- 1:19Speaker 1: so many stupid things, and I won't yell. This is
- 1:21Speaker 1: Patriot's Unfiltered, fueled by Duncan. All right, welcome the Patriots Unfiltered.
- 1:28Speaker 1: It is Thursday here at Gillette Stadium, and uh boy,
- 1:34Speaker 1: the buzz was created yesterday by one Tom Brady, retiring
- 1:39Speaker 1: one day from the year he retired last year. But methinks,
- 1:42Speaker 1: and everybody else does that this is it. This is
- 1:45Speaker 1: truly the farewell for Tom from his playing days in
- 1:49Speaker 1: the NFL. Yeah, I think so too. I don't think
- 1:52Speaker 1: it's a marketing campaign for a Brady From what I understand,
- 1:56Speaker 1: that movie needs all the marketing you can get. But anyway,
- 2:00Speaker 1: that's neither here nor there. Deuce is here, Alex is here,
- 2:04Speaker 1: Paul's here, and yes, we're gonna be talking about Tom
- 2:07Speaker 1: Brady and his announcement yesterday. One thing I was thinking
- 2:11Speaker 1: about on the way home before last season, I said,
- 2:14Speaker 1: this is going to be Brady's last year, you know,
- 2:16Speaker 1: this is before the divorce. I just felt that that
- 2:19Speaker 1: was it. But then when he got divorced, I said,
- 2:21Speaker 1: you know what, he's probably gonna play again. But then
- 2:24Speaker 1: I was thinking last night, you know if I think
- 2:28Speaker 1: this is a lot about the kids, because like, if
- 2:31Speaker 1: you're married and you work a lot, at least when
- 2:34Speaker 1: you do come home, the kids are there. But when
- 2:37Speaker 1: you get divorced and you work a lot, you come home,
- 2:40Speaker 1: the kids aren't there. So if you saw them not
- 2:44Speaker 1: enough when you were working and married, you're gonna see
- 2:47Speaker 1: him even less now. And I think that was a factor.
- 2:50Speaker 1: I didn't take that into consideration when I said, yeah,
- 2:53Speaker 1: now he's gonna play. Now, it's even tougher to see
- 2:56Speaker 1: his kids, you know, even assuming they have them split. Yeah,
- 3:00Speaker 1: you know, so now it's even tougher if he's continued
- 3:03Speaker 1: to play where he doesn't control his schedule. And I
- 3:07Speaker 1: think that that probably was a reason one of the
- 3:10Speaker 1: reasons why he said, you know what, I got to
- 3:12Speaker 1: do it now. Yeah. The kids are getting older too. Yeah,
- 3:14Speaker 1: I think it's just Vivian's probably the last one who's
- 3:16Speaker 1: still I mean, I think Ben, in the middle one
- 3:18Speaker 1: is probably getting ready to go to high school or
- 3:19Speaker 1: some sort. So I mean, yeah, the oldest one. I
- 3:21Speaker 1: think is starting prep school, right or something like Jack. Yeah,
- 3:24Speaker 1: how do I know all their names? Yeah, we all do.
- 3:26Speaker 1: I know their dogs too. Yeah, So like I now
- 3:30Speaker 1: now it makes it makes a little bit more sense
- 3:32Speaker 1: to me, you know, yeah, I think so. I mean,
- 3:34Speaker 1: I I think last year was such a like false
- 3:37Speaker 1: start with everything, and it happened and he kind of
- 3:39Speaker 1: got I like that. This time, he just was like,
- 3:41Speaker 1: what's up. It's me on my phone. I used up
- 3:44Speaker 1: my last years Yeah hello, yeah, hi, hello from the
- 3:50Speaker 1: other side. But last year's announcement still people are rankled
- 3:54Speaker 1: about it around here because it was all Tampa Bay focused. Yeah, yeah,
- 3:58Speaker 1: I know. I saw somebody tweet out, like I hope
- 3:59Speaker 1: he forgets to thank somebody, you know, because there's always
- 4:02Speaker 1: some outrage that I left one person out, like right,
- 4:05Speaker 1: oh he didn't say thanks to that one guy. But
- 4:08Speaker 1: I think it's overall just it feels like, you know,
- 4:11Speaker 1: you had a fall start last year for as a
- 4:13Speaker 1: Patriots fan, putting that fan hat on. You know, it's
- 4:15Speaker 1: it's it's you feel like he's back in the family,
- 4:17Speaker 1: he's back in the fold. I mean, not for me,
- 4:18Speaker 1: of course, we all know how I feel about it.
- 4:20Speaker 1: But but good to get him back, and you know,
- 4:23Speaker 1: I assume we'll get into one day contracts and potential
- 4:27Speaker 1: Brady ceremonies and all kinds of fun things that are
- 4:29Speaker 1: coming down the pipe. Yeah. I mean, Robert Krapf was
- 4:31Speaker 1: on CNN today and said he's going to do everything
- 4:33Speaker 1: in his power to bring him back here. So I
- 4:35Speaker 1: hope that happens for a one day contract for whatever,
- 4:39Speaker 1: you know, any capacity will take him. Yeah. You know,
- 4:42Speaker 1: funny because a lot of people here are, like a
- 4:44Speaker 1: lot of the newer employees in the content department, like
- 4:47Speaker 1: I just like to meet him. I'm like, you guys,
- 4:49Speaker 1: I mean I realize like people hadn't even like been
- 4:50Speaker 1: around him, Like, well, that's the thing, you know, people
- 4:53Speaker 1: will been here twenty years hadn't met him. Yeah, you know,
- 4:55Speaker 1: that's not the way it works here. I know. Well,
- 4:57Speaker 1: I guess I sat in a press conference that doesn't
- 4:59Speaker 1: really count. I know. It's not like the ESPN commercials
- 5:02Speaker 1: where we're you know, bumping into people in the cafeteria
- 5:05Speaker 1: and you know, except for Paul who gets you know,
- 5:07Speaker 1: Josh McDaniel's coming up just to check in. Oh yeah,
- 5:10Speaker 1: you know, sure, he mingles with those Joe O'Brien where
- 5:12Speaker 1: he get his video the other day? Buttered him up.
- 5:15Speaker 1: You find out what he's gonna do, you get with
- 5:16Speaker 1: the loader. That's what happens. Well, now you're on the
- 5:18Speaker 1: same level as them. They don't even have to go
- 5:20Speaker 1: upstairs to see you. It's true. So any thoughts, um,
- 5:24Speaker 1: Paul or alex Son yesterday's announcement. Like you said, I
- 5:28Speaker 1: kind of feel like it was like one of those things.
- 5:30Speaker 1: I was like, do I just retweet the gushy post
- 5:33Speaker 1: I posted last year? I don't know. I was desensitized
- 5:37Speaker 1: to the news. Yeah, I guess you could say, but
- 5:39Speaker 1: I mean nonetheless, like I'm a girl who my dog's
- 5:43Speaker 1: name is Brady. I mean, I'm probably Mike doesn't like you.
- 5:46Speaker 1: That's a bad name. I was thinking, Mike, maybe now
- 5:50Speaker 1: you'd soften at you know that he's all right finding
- 5:52Speaker 1: I mean, my dog's ten years old. It's not like
- 5:54Speaker 1: I named him Brady like two years ago. You know, Yeah,
- 5:56Speaker 1: he only had like three Super Bowls at that point.
- 5:58Speaker 1: You were you were still kind of ahead of the Paul,
- 6:00Speaker 1: You're disgusted with the whole thing. No, I'm not. I'm
- 6:03Speaker 1: with you. I'm wrong. I was wrong because I thought
- 6:05Speaker 1: he was going to keep playing. But I think it
- 6:08Speaker 1: might have been as simple as he's told us for
- 6:11Speaker 1: a long time that I'm going to play until him
- 6:13Speaker 1: forty five. Yea, he turned forty five, he stopped playing, right,
- 6:16Speaker 1: So I mean I was with you, Fred. I thought
- 6:18Speaker 1: that the way that you know, not so much about
- 6:21Speaker 1: the divorce, but the way the season ended, I didn't
- 6:23Speaker 1: think you would want to go out like that. But
- 6:25Speaker 1: but there's no guarantee if he played it would be
- 6:28Speaker 1: any bad, correct, And I think that the other thing
- 6:30Speaker 1: that he always said was you know when I'm not
- 6:33Speaker 1: you know when I say when I stock, I'll stopped playing.
- 6:35Speaker 1: And I don't think he sucked last year, but I
- 6:37Speaker 1: don't think he played very well. And I think that
- 6:39Speaker 1: he would know more than we would how much him
- 6:43Speaker 1: not playing up to his normal standards was because of
- 6:46Speaker 1: him or because of all the other reasons that we
- 6:49Speaker 1: gave all year. No running game, offensive line a mess,
- 6:53Speaker 1: no preparation in the off season, missing eleven days of
- 6:57Speaker 1: training camp, and going through a divorce. You know, we
- 7:00Speaker 1: saw it physically. He looked like hell, you know at
- 7:04Speaker 1: times during the course of the year. But only only
- 7:07Speaker 1: he would know yeah. Yeah, that's part of why I
- 7:09Speaker 1: didn't play well, but it's not the only reason why.
- 7:11Speaker 1: Didn't think about when he first got to Tampa Bay,
- 7:14Speaker 1: Like he got in there and he was doing stuff
- 7:16Speaker 1: during COVID when he wasn't supposed to, and he was
- 7:19Speaker 1: redoing the culture in Tampa Bay. But then as it
- 7:22Speaker 1: went along, I think that offseason Rah Rah kind of
- 7:26Speaker 1: tapered a little bit, kind of like a reality check. Yeah,
- 7:29Speaker 1: and then he realized, you know what, if I do
- 7:30Speaker 1: go to another team, which probably is what's going to happen,
- 7:33Speaker 1: I'm gonna have to like reinvest that same energy and
- 7:37Speaker 1: I may not have it in So you didn't buy
- 7:39Speaker 1: the Jeff Darlington report that he had told Tampa that
- 7:43Speaker 1: it was it was either going to be retirement or Tampa.
- 7:46Speaker 1: He might have told him that, but I don't know,
- 7:48Speaker 1: Like if you know San Francisco, obviously now is out
- 7:52Speaker 1: of the question because but if San Francisco came calling,
- 7:55Speaker 1: you don't think he'd be listening. I just asked if
- 7:57Speaker 1: you bought the Yeah, I don't. I think, I think,
- 8:00Speaker 1: I don't know. I think in these contract negotiation and
- 8:04Speaker 1: leveraging you say things, but you're always willing to listen
- 8:08Speaker 1: to whatever anyone happened. Yeah, I think a lot of
- 8:10Speaker 1: people with you, you know, they said that the timing
- 8:14Speaker 1: of it. You know, within the last week, Miami has publicly,
- 8:18Speaker 1: um you know, stated there sticking with Tua, and San
- 8:23Speaker 1: Francisco has kind of stated that, you know, Garoppolo's going
- 8:28Speaker 1: and we have these other two guys in Trey Lance
- 8:30Speaker 1: and Brock Party that we feel good about. Maybe he
- 8:33Speaker 1: just felt like there was no open door there. Um.
- 8:37Speaker 1: I also thought it was interesting that Darlington brought up
- 8:39Speaker 1: what we've talked about on this show a lot. You know,
- 8:41Speaker 1: everybody just automatically had him going to the Raiders, and
- 8:44Speaker 1: Darlingtons would have alluded to the fact that not necessarily
- 8:46Speaker 1: because of Josh McDaniels, because I don't think it was
- 8:48Speaker 1: great with Josh McDaniels when he left here, right, and again,
- 8:52Speaker 1: I think the kids are a factor, you know, and
- 8:55Speaker 1: like even if like it's just approved Zelle wrong, Yeah,
- 9:00Speaker 1: I do care about these kids, you know. I'm sure
- 9:02Speaker 1: like in the heat of moments, things were said by
- 9:05Speaker 1: both sides about you don't care, you don't care you
- 9:10Speaker 1: and like, you know, he wants to prove to you
- 9:13Speaker 1: know to her maybe like, no, this is the kids
- 9:15Speaker 1: are imported to me? You kidding me? If not, prove
- 9:17Speaker 1: her wrong. I could totally see them getting back together.
- 9:20Speaker 1: You really with someone that long? And then I don't know,
- 9:25Speaker 1: I don't think so else. I don't think there's ever
- 9:27Speaker 1: a clean break. There's there's reports in TMZ being leaked
- 9:31Speaker 1: from clearly his camp that he's not dating. I don't
- 9:34Speaker 1: think he's trying to play. I don't know. Yeah, it's
- 9:37Speaker 1: a lot. I would lose a lot of respect for
- 9:39Speaker 1: him if he did that. I really wish. Not that
- 9:41Speaker 1: it's any of my business, it's not I get it. Yeah,
- 9:43Speaker 1: I'll sit it out. I would just say something interesting
- 9:46Speaker 1: to highlight probably Alex's side of the street a little bit,
- 9:48Speaker 1: but Logan Ryan's wife. And if you saw that Alex
- 9:51Speaker 1: had had a really good post on on Instagram and
- 9:53Speaker 1: just said, um that Brady and his daughter and Ben
- 9:56Speaker 1: and Logan Ryan and his son and his wife as
- 9:59Speaker 1: while they were vollunteering at an animal hospital, and you
- 10:02Speaker 1: know something that never was brought up, and you know,
- 10:04Speaker 1: one of those things where people just they're doing good
- 10:06Speaker 1: things and not looking for publicity. But I just thought
- 10:08Speaker 1: that was a nice highlight of things he was doing
- 10:10Speaker 1: with his family, you know, to your point, still trying
- 10:12Speaker 1: to be involved, but I think it's absolutely a point.
- 10:15Speaker 1: One point I did want to bring up too, was
- 10:16Speaker 1: just what Paul's show I thought was kind of interesting,
- 10:18Speaker 1: was because I watched Brady this year and like, physically
- 10:22Speaker 1: within a play, like he still looked physically like he
- 10:24Speaker 1: can throw the football, like he can move okay, Like
- 10:26Speaker 1: he didn't look physically like Peyton Manning in twenty fifteen, like, oh,
- 10:29Speaker 1: it's just not there anymore. And they were Feedgar and
- 10:31Speaker 1: mas we're kind of bringing up the point of he
- 10:33Speaker 1: kind of looked like he looked in twenty nineteen here,
- 10:35Speaker 1: like you know a little bit like with Paul's talking,
- 10:36Speaker 1: a little bit less invested, not quite as locked in
- 10:39Speaker 1: as he used to be. And that was the only
- 10:41Speaker 1: thing that I I kind of wondered was if he
- 10:44Speaker 1: were going to go to another team, would he kind
- 10:46Speaker 1: of regain that Well, That's what I said, Yeah, like
- 10:48Speaker 1: and he knows he would have to, and you know,
- 10:50Speaker 1: and it also I think just just kind of illustrates
- 10:53Speaker 1: what a great fit Tampa was for him at that
- 10:56Speaker 1: particular point in twenty twenty when they had arians, when
- 10:59Speaker 1: you know, Godwin and Evans were still really on the
- 11:02Speaker 1: upswing and uh, you know, they had had the line
- 11:04Speaker 1: in place and everything was just kind of their for him,
- 11:06Speaker 1: and you know, it got harder, as it always does.
- 11:08Speaker 1: But I'm curious about that Darling team report of what
- 11:11Speaker 1: his desire was because I could see, you know, look,
- 11:13Speaker 1: I don't really want to do what you said, going
- 11:15Speaker 1: to a new team have to remake the culture. I'm
- 11:17Speaker 1: already here. We've got some pieces, you know, can we
- 11:20Speaker 1: can we restore things? Uh, and they've only got Kyle Trask.
- 11:23Speaker 1: Now let's see your guy is the only one last
- 11:25Speaker 1: minute another team to the list of eating QUARTERBA This morning,
- 11:29Speaker 1: I guess the Wall Street Journal and you're outlet TMZ,
- 11:36Speaker 1: I have, I have shows, you have outlets reported that
- 11:40Speaker 1: he will not be joining Fox this for this super Bowl,
- 11:43Speaker 1: like you know, he's not ready yet. Yeah yeah, yeah,
- 11:47Speaker 1: I mean that makes sense now as Fox as the
- 11:49Speaker 1: super Bowl, Yeah yeah, yeah. I thought he would be
- 11:52Speaker 1: part of the pre I never thought for a second
- 11:54Speaker 1: he'd be in the booth or annything like that. I
- 11:55Speaker 1: just figured you have like nine hours or pregame show.
- 11:58Speaker 1: You can't have you don't have fifteen, Tom Brady. But
- 12:01Speaker 1: maybe he just doesn't want to do it. Yeah, there's
- 12:03Speaker 1: no interest in doing it. Yeah, so go on vacation
- 12:06Speaker 1: or something. Now. I also saw something that said that
- 12:09Speaker 1: that contract doesn't officially kick in until twenty five. That right,
- 12:14Speaker 1: Someone said it on the radio this morning on one
- 12:16Speaker 1: of my shows. I forget which one. Yeah, maybe he
- 12:18Speaker 1: signed it anticipating to play a longer maybe keep your
- 12:22Speaker 1: shows in line, Paul, come on, it is true. I
- 12:25Speaker 1: can't believe what you hear on my shows. I mean, like,
- 12:28Speaker 1: it's smart for him. There's probably a clause in there
- 12:31Speaker 1: that or it could be earlier, if mutually agreed upon
- 12:34Speaker 1: or something like that. But he didn't want anything in
- 12:36Speaker 1: writing saying oh it starts in twenty four and then
- 12:39Speaker 1: everyone knows that, you know, Like so they probably smart
- 12:42Speaker 1: about the wording there, just in case somebody leaked that
- 12:45Speaker 1: language out. He's probably got enough money to make up.
- 12:47Speaker 1: Wouldn't you hear between wouldn't it just be just you know,
- 12:50Speaker 1: when his playing days are over, like whatever, Like it
- 12:54Speaker 1: doesn't have to mean, is it. Well, Fox probably didn't
- 12:56Speaker 1: want to be on the hook for you know, like
- 12:59Speaker 1: some people never retire. They stopped playing, but they don't
- 13:02Speaker 1: officially retire, and it's like, so, what would that have
- 13:05Speaker 1: to do with I don't know. Fox wanted to have
- 13:07Speaker 1: some deadline on it, you know, like if you're not
- 13:09Speaker 1: with us by twenty five, the deals off the table.
- 13:12Speaker 1: Oh yeah, they got an out. Yeah, so maybe that's
- 13:16Speaker 1: why he could be that. People are saying that he
- 13:18Speaker 1: had to be at least because my guess is he's
- 13:20Speaker 1: going to be doing it next year. Yeah, I would
- 13:22Speaker 1: think so, so maybe that's maybe you have the explanation there. Yeah, so, well,
- 13:29Speaker 1: I'll have more time for his kids. I guess he's
- 13:30Speaker 1: just be flying around the games next year on the weekend.
- 13:32Speaker 1: Hopefully he has more prep than Tony Romo has been doing.
- 13:35Speaker 1: The best part I liked about the thing is when
- 13:37Speaker 1: he sort of poked fund of himself and said, you know,
- 13:40Speaker 1: I already made a big deal out of this last year,
- 13:43Speaker 1: so I'm not going to do that again. And I mean,
- 13:46Speaker 1: I think for the most part, everybody kind of followed
- 13:49Speaker 1: his lead. I mean, there was a little stuff, you know,
- 13:53Speaker 1: a little over the top stuff on like ESPN in
- 13:56Speaker 1: NFL network, but not a ton I was irritated though,
- 13:59Speaker 1: at NFL. Freddie was irritated, you know because obviously they
- 14:03Speaker 1: were talking about Brady all night, but they had one
- 14:06Speaker 1: package ready and so they'd lead in, you know how
- 14:08Speaker 1: they had to lead him the package. They have b
- 14:09Speaker 1: roll b roll. The b roll was very carefully crafted
- 14:13Speaker 1: to make sure it was fifty percent Patriots and fifty
- 14:16Speaker 1: percent Buccaneers, and that pissed me off. Even proper ratio.
- 14:19Speaker 1: It's here for twenty years, twenty years in six super
- 14:24Speaker 1: Bowl wins, nine appearances. That pissed me. He's there for
- 14:27Speaker 1: what three years, and and they get equal billing with
- 14:31Speaker 1: the Patriots. That's BSS, that's BS. That's trying to be
- 14:35Speaker 1: in here. I was even mad that Tristan Worse was
- 14:38Speaker 1: made the right tackle of the all Brady team, Like
- 14:39Speaker 1: get him out of there, I can put Sebastian Vulmer
- 14:42Speaker 1: in there. Yeah absolutely, yeah that really really, I'm not
- 14:46Speaker 1: I couldn't tell you. That really pissed me off. I
- 14:49Speaker 1: don't know, the Bucks don't get fifty percent billings. So yeah,
- 14:53Speaker 1: I hope he does come back and sign a one
- 14:55Speaker 1: year deal, I mean a one day deal. I know
- 14:57Speaker 1: Paul thinks it's silly, but I think you know, for
- 14:59Speaker 1: the fans, I wish you would stop saying things. No,
- 15:03Speaker 1: it's fine. You ever right to say that. I know
- 15:05Speaker 1: I don't, yes, you do, because it kind of is silly.
- 15:09Speaker 1: But for the fans, I think as as you know,
- 15:12Speaker 1: as titular as it is, or whatever you want to
- 15:15Speaker 1: call it, can I articulate it makes a difference? Closure? Okay? Okay?
- 15:21Speaker 1: So can I just what I mean by I think
- 15:24Speaker 1: it's silly. If if he's going to come back and
- 15:28Speaker 1: be somewhat part of the organization, I don't mean like
- 15:32Speaker 1: they're gonna make him the general manager or you know,
- 15:34Speaker 1: he's going to have some kind of a title. I
- 15:35Speaker 1: don't mean that right. But I mean he's not coming
- 15:40Speaker 1: back to sign a one day contract and then we're
- 15:41Speaker 1: never going to see him again other than the day
- 15:43Speaker 1: that he gets inducted into the Patriots Hall of Fame.
- 15:45Speaker 1: I hope not. That to me is useless. I don't
- 15:48Speaker 1: need that. If he's coming back and he's going to
- 15:50Speaker 1: be a part of the community occasionally, he's going to
- 15:53Speaker 1: be around the team. You know, he's going to be,
- 15:56Speaker 1: you know, someone who is um you know, maybe at
- 16:00Speaker 1: events once in a while. If if Robert Kraft needs
- 16:03Speaker 1: him to be then that that that's great, So you're
- 16:06Speaker 1: okay with it as long. I think he's gonna come
- 16:08Speaker 1: back and sign a ceremonial one day contract and you
- 16:10Speaker 1: won't ever see him again. Really, I have no use
- 16:12Speaker 1: for that. I'd be well, i'd be disappointed in that.
- 16:16Speaker 1: So don't even bother. Like the one day contracting is like,
- 16:19Speaker 1: I don't know when this started, but it's useless. It's useless.
- 16:24Speaker 1: It's it's ceremonial. It's ceremonial, right, but exactly. But I
- 16:28Speaker 1: hope you can do that and have him come back
- 16:30Speaker 1: for things that that would be good for the organization. Yeah,
- 16:33Speaker 1: I would just say like, for three years, a lot
- 16:36Speaker 1: of Patriots fans, especially those who listen to Paul shows,
- 16:39Speaker 1: have impounded with the Patriots. Pushed Tom Brady out, he
- 16:43Speaker 1: hates Belichick, they didn't get along, and you know, some
- 16:46Speaker 1: of this, of course might be true, but we've been
- 16:47Speaker 1: beaten over the head with it for three years. So
- 16:49Speaker 1: I think that the desire to have a makeup, even
- 16:53Speaker 1: if it is ceremonial, is very appealing to Patriots fans
- 16:56Speaker 1: to just have some sense of all right, we're gonna play.
- 16:58Speaker 1: That's not gonna make up the fact that's not going
- 17:00Speaker 1: to be a make up for what people think was
- 17:03Speaker 1: the problem. No, I know that because I don't think
- 17:05Speaker 1: anybody thinks that it's it's Tom Brady versus Robert Kraft.
- 17:08Speaker 1: But yeah, but now it's bygones. Let bygones be bygones. Right,
- 17:11Speaker 1: But there are no bygones to be gone with Robert Kraft. Okay,
- 17:17Speaker 1: like there's no mending that needs to be done now.
- 17:19Speaker 1: Some people blame Robert Kraft on your shows. Yeah, well,
- 17:23Speaker 1: I mean I see it more. It's just I think,
- 17:24Speaker 1: you know, I think you like the son of Sam.
- 17:27Speaker 1: I think you have voices in your head. Oh I've
- 17:30Speaker 1: not I've not heard that. You've heard a lot of
- 17:32Speaker 1: people blame Robert Craft and not Bill Belichick for that split. Okay,
- 17:35Speaker 1: so to see what he does there and not Bill Belichick.
- 17:38Speaker 1: I've heard both. I've heard both. You you like equally
- 17:43Speaker 1: you're you're saying I didn't say that I heard both. Okay,
- 17:46Speaker 1: So someone said some people So someone called up once
- 17:49Speaker 1: and said, I blame Kraft, not Bill, not just once,
- 17:51Speaker 1: not just like I don't know what you're one of
- 17:54Speaker 1: your favorite callers, Danny from Court that's one of my
- 17:56Speaker 1: favorite callers. Yeah, that's one. That's one of my favorit.
- 18:00Speaker 1: Bab illustrates the point perfectly. Yeah, Danny from Quincy, you're
- 18:04Speaker 1: that's one off the top of my hand, stirring you
- 18:07Speaker 1: who kids, what the callers say, that's I'm just saying that.
- 18:09Speaker 1: Some people, that's all I said. Some people, Oh god,
- 18:13Speaker 1: I mean for me, it's just the Patriots, And I mean,
- 18:16Speaker 1: I don't really care who blames what, but it's just
- 18:18Speaker 1: it's just bringing him back into the fold. And you know,
- 18:20Speaker 1: whether it's it's just the ceremonial thing, I think, just
- 18:22Speaker 1: to have Tom Brady back in here and have a
- 18:24Speaker 1: picture in the trophy room with him and he you know,
- 18:27Speaker 1: well he's not Tampa anymore. I think we you know,
- 18:29Speaker 1: hopefully it's more than that. You know, there's been a
- 18:31Speaker 1: lot of suggestions that have been fired off on social media,
- 18:35Speaker 1: statue putting the number twelve up in the you know,
- 18:39Speaker 1: now I'm interested in, you know, something along the lines
- 18:43Speaker 1: of a Larry Bird, what what the Celtics did for
- 18:46Speaker 1: Larry Bird? I had come stealing all. I agree with that,
- 18:49Speaker 1: you know, I I think I think you can't you
- 18:53Speaker 1: can't just do the normal reduction into the Patriots Hall
- 18:55Speaker 1: of Fame. This has to be an event. Yeah, and
- 18:58Speaker 1: it's not an event like August or September. No, it's
- 19:01Speaker 1: not something you shoot hoorn in at halftime of the
- 19:04Speaker 1: Chiefs game, which I see a lot of people on Twitter, right,
- 19:06Speaker 1: you know, pining. It's something happens in like May or June,
- 19:09Speaker 1: right off season. And yeah, it's a Larry Bird retirement. Yeah,
- 19:13Speaker 1: it's a separate event. It's Tom Brady Knight at Gillette Stadium,
- 19:16Speaker 1: all stages on the field, like like Peyton Manning comes back,
- 19:21Speaker 1: ray Lewis comes back, Ed reads in the house, like
- 19:25Speaker 1: all of the you know, Pitt Ben, Roethlisberger's here, Mike
- 19:28Speaker 1: Tomlin comes out here with his puffy jacket on and
- 19:31Speaker 1: he's like pounding his chest. I could never beat this guy.
- 19:34Speaker 1: Like that's that's the day that it has to be.
- 19:37Speaker 1: You can't do that in twelve minutes at halftime of
- 19:39Speaker 1: an NFL game. That's a great idea. I think, Yeah,
- 19:42Speaker 1: I'm here, I'm here for all of that. The statue
- 19:45Speaker 1: the twelve inside the bowl of the stadium somewhere, whether
- 19:48Speaker 1: it be on the lighthouse or something like that, or
- 19:50Speaker 1: under the banners. Yeah, I'm here for all of that.
- 19:53Speaker 1: The one day contract, Yeah, you do that on your own.
- 19:55Speaker 1: The only thing I realized I'm not going to be
- 19:56Speaker 1: here for is like, well, who gets the bigger statue?
- 20:00Speaker 1: Or where? Who? Who is traitor Bill's statue? Where is
- 20:05Speaker 1: it put? Brady? He answered all those questions. Brady he
- 20:09Speaker 1: gets like a giant one. And then they just have
- 20:11Speaker 1: like a little like plaque for Bill, like you know,
- 20:13Speaker 1: like he's got Like I was thinking, like you do
- 20:16Speaker 1: a statue of Brady and it's like maybe him like
- 20:20Speaker 1: standing on the sidelines, you know, looking off, and then
- 20:23Speaker 1: when Bill leaves, you add him next to him, and
- 20:27Speaker 1: so now they're both together on the sideline. Yeah. I
- 20:30Speaker 1: like that. Don't like it as much. No, that's fine.
- 20:33Speaker 1: I'm just kidding. Just doesn't stir the pot. Just it's fun.
- 20:37Speaker 1: It's fun. It's fun. But like, I don't think you
- 20:39Speaker 1: can do too much for Tom Brady Knight. I agree.
- 20:43Speaker 1: I mean, and I think you also maybe you don't
- 20:48Speaker 1: want to do it like this spring, like this mayo, June.
- 20:52Speaker 1: Maybe next year, you know, twenty four, yep, I want
- 20:55Speaker 1: to I don't want to wait four years, right, I
- 20:58Speaker 1: don't want to treat him like every other Hall of Famer,
- 21:01Speaker 1: like he has to wait his turn, and you know,
- 21:04Speaker 1: like we're not really going to put him through the
- 21:07Speaker 1: rigamar role of he's one of the three finalists and
- 21:10Speaker 1: we have to let the fans decide, right, we're not
- 21:12Speaker 1: doing that, right, No, we're gonna makeup or not. I'm
- 21:15Speaker 1: not in charge of that, and I don't make the rules,
- 21:17Speaker 1: so I well know you carry a lot of sway
- 21:21Speaker 1: around here. For if they ask my opinion, I say,
- 21:24Speaker 1: just don't. Just don't tell everybody that it was Paul's idea,
- 21:26Speaker 1: because we know that will be summarily dismissed. Put him
- 21:28Speaker 1: in next year, and then all of Paul unless everybody
- 21:31Speaker 1: likes it, curmudgeons on the committee. Paul's friends will be like, oh,
- 21:36Speaker 1: now that these guys will never get a chance to
- 21:38Speaker 1: come in if Brady's gonna slip in there, It's like, okay, no,
- 21:40Speaker 1: that's true. That's another reason why you don't. You don't
- 21:44Speaker 1: put him part of this process. Don't take away someone
- 21:47Speaker 1: else's chance. No, but I'm not at this time in
- 21:50Speaker 1: the year that Brady goes in, whether it's next year
- 21:52Speaker 1: or the year after whatever. No one else is going
- 21:54Speaker 1: in at the time, but you're missing this. He's a separate, whole,
- 21:57Speaker 1: separate entity. He goes in. But you can still you
- 22:01Speaker 1: can still do your process with the other three guys
- 22:04Speaker 1: and they can come at up. And that's no disrespect.
- 22:06Speaker 1: You're a great player. Yeah, if you're out there in
- 22:08Speaker 1: the plaza with thousands of people caring for you, that's
- 22:10Speaker 1: still that's still special on his own. Yeah, that makes sense.
- 22:16Speaker 1: That makes sense, And just a random June, you know,
- 22:18Speaker 1: like around mini camp, maybe like when everybody Fred and
- 22:21Speaker 1: I talked about, you have to do it when most
- 22:23Speaker 1: people are available to get right. And that's why I
- 22:26Speaker 1: mentioned the off season. You know, maybe after everybody's done
- 22:29Speaker 1: with that mini camp portion of the off season, people
- 22:32Speaker 1: start to scatter. Maybe you can get because you don't
- 22:34Speaker 1: need everybody's birthdays in August. You don't need you don't
- 22:38Speaker 1: need everybody, but you do need like Peyton Manning and
- 22:42Speaker 1: those kinds of people, because I thought the best. Fred
- 22:46Speaker 1: and I talked about this yesterday for a while in
- 22:48Speaker 1: his office and we both at the same time said
- 22:50Speaker 1: the Larry Bird Knight and h And of course I
- 22:53Speaker 1: don't know if you know, but fred was there. Oh really?
- 22:55Speaker 1: Oh yeah, So what did they do for Larry Bird?
- 22:57Speaker 1: I was god? They so they was at the garden.
- 23:00Speaker 1: But the Celtics hired NFL from he has basketball? Are
- 23:05Speaker 1: you from here? When was that like ninety three something
- 23:09Speaker 1: like that. I forget what year it was. They had
- 23:12Speaker 1: a stage set up on so it was the whole garden.
- 23:15Speaker 1: I wasn't even born yet. It was all full. Then
- 23:20Speaker 1: they had seating on the floor right into this middle stage.
- 23:23Speaker 1: The Celtics hired NFL Entertainment to put it on, and
- 23:26Speaker 1: they did a great job. And they had Magic Johnson
- 23:29Speaker 1: there and all his teammates. That to me was the
- 23:31Speaker 1: best part of the whole night. They had a lot
- 23:34Speaker 1: of his ex teammates came out, and then they brought
- 23:37Speaker 1: Magic Johnson with you know, like the Celtics warmups that
- 23:40Speaker 1: like the overall kind of war. He comes out, He's
- 23:44Speaker 1: got his Laker warmups on, but underneath he had a
- 23:46Speaker 1: Celtic shirt because he didn't have anything else. And and
- 23:49Speaker 1: like Bird like rips it opened to show everybody like
- 23:52Speaker 1: that to me made the whole night. And they had
- 23:54Speaker 1: video presentations and and people talking and you know, it
- 23:59Speaker 1: was just it was a really really good night of entertainment.
- 24:01Speaker 1: It wasn't boring, you know, like some of these things
- 24:03Speaker 1: drag on. This never got boring. Um. And you know,
- 24:07Speaker 1: I every all the media got like these swag bags
- 24:11Speaker 1: full of like Brady's not Brady Bird stuff, um, which
- 24:15Speaker 1: I still have. Um. It was just h it was.
- 24:18Speaker 1: It was a real memory. I was at the Herald
- 24:20Speaker 1: at the time, and that we you know, we had
- 24:22Speaker 1: obviously access to have people go even if you weren't
- 24:25Speaker 1: covering it, like they had extra And this girl girl
- 24:29Speaker 1: I went to beat you with, who was She kind
- 24:32Speaker 1: of went through like the intern and you know, the
- 24:35Speaker 1: lower level that I was on at the time. She's
- 24:37Speaker 1: from Saint Louis, had like no interest whatsoever in Larry Bird,
- 24:41Speaker 1: and she ended up they asked her if she wanted
- 24:44Speaker 1: to go, and I was so mad. She wanted to
- 24:47Speaker 1: go because Bob cost Us was like dmc oh man,
- 24:51Speaker 1: and Bob cost Us is from Saint Louis and that's
- 24:54Speaker 1: why she wanted to go. And I'm like, you've got
- 24:57Speaker 1: to be kidding me. I was so much you yeah,
- 25:01Speaker 1: that's just wrong. You didn't put up like a fight
- 25:04Speaker 1: about this. I was a lowly peon like what was that? She? Yeah,
- 25:09Speaker 1: but they asked her what am I gonna say? Why
- 25:11Speaker 1: her or not me? Tanya underhubb the under Hills, the
- 25:18Speaker 1: under Hills tables. Yeah, so that so that of it's
- 25:22Speaker 1: to that level, if not even more. I think it's
- 25:24Speaker 1: the opponents to stand out to me. I mean, Paul,
- 25:26Speaker 1: I think nails it would you gotta have paid Manning there.
- 25:28Speaker 1: I mean, that's that's the rivalry. And to get him
- 25:30Speaker 1: back in here, and I mean knowing that he will
- 25:32Speaker 1: bring it, yeah, well they they probably they probably come
- 25:37Speaker 1: as a as a package deal. But I just think
- 25:39Speaker 1: of Colts Steelers, um, you know, Ravens, Bernard Pollard coming
- 25:48Speaker 1: on down. Can I want to lose Bernard Pollard's invite
- 25:51Speaker 1: in the mail? But but about the broncos, you know,
- 25:54Speaker 1: maybe you get some bronchos like you know, like maybe
- 25:57Speaker 1: a Champill a von Miller type or at Bailey or
- 26:00Speaker 1: someone like that. But you don't have to go wild
- 26:03Speaker 1: with the opponents. You need two three, you know, you know,
- 26:07Speaker 1: five like really high profile guys to come back and
- 26:10Speaker 1: have fun. Ye think that's where the greatness is though, right,
- 26:12Speaker 1: I mean, like all the teammates We've heard all these
- 26:14Speaker 1: stories about what a great leader he was, what a
- 26:16Speaker 1: great guy he was. He would talk to everyone in
- 26:17Speaker 1: the locker room, he would work relentlessly, first guy and
- 26:20Speaker 1: all that stuff. But to hear from the actual opponents,
- 26:22Speaker 1: especially defenders who you know, were like, what was it
- 26:25Speaker 1: like preparing to go against Tom Brady and you know,
- 26:27Speaker 1: just knowing those answers of like you had to play
- 26:29Speaker 1: sixty one minutes and everything else. And every teammate that
- 26:33Speaker 1: played with him gets an invite. Now whether they all
- 26:37Speaker 1: come or not, you know, who knows, Yeah, but all
- 26:39Speaker 1: the quarterbacks who that'd be great, like probably would have
- 26:42Speaker 1: been one of the best quarterbacks in the league had
- 26:45Speaker 1: he not played during the same generation scrappling with that
- 26:49Speaker 1: bring in like Light and Castle to talk about the
- 26:52Speaker 1: jokes they played on each other. And you know, NFL
- 26:56Speaker 1: films or whoever puts together some really nice video presentation
- 27:01Speaker 1: that you know, send shivers up everybody's spine. You know,
- 27:04Speaker 1: you just do it up really nice. That's yeah. So
- 27:07Speaker 1: when do you um present this to Robert? I'm sure
- 27:13Speaker 1: this has already been being talked about. I'm not Fred
- 27:16Speaker 1: and I'm dead serious. I haven't heard a lot of
- 27:18Speaker 1: people talk about it the way we have. Well, it
- 27:20Speaker 1: just happened yesterday. No, but but I've been hearing a
- 27:23Speaker 1: lot of people predicting like this will all happen in
- 27:25Speaker 1: the Kansas City game next year. What a wasted opportunity
- 27:28Speaker 1: at right, rush out people from the outside with no
- 27:33Speaker 1: just on the Twitter machine, no one, yeah, no one
- 27:35Speaker 1: in here. But I haven't really heard anybody. I've heard
- 27:38Speaker 1: people talk about a statue. There's been a lot of
- 27:40Speaker 1: statute talk, which I'm wholeheartedly in favor of UM. And
- 27:43Speaker 1: I've heard a lot of talk about the twelve, the
- 27:45Speaker 1: number twelve being displayed inside the stadium or on the lighthouse. Yeah,
- 27:51Speaker 1: but I haven't heard a lot of people say it
- 27:52Speaker 1: needs to be something separate. I think Andy Hart and
- 27:55Speaker 1: I on the six Rings podcast yesterday, which I said
- 27:58Speaker 1: should be seven rings because we're talking about Brady and
- 28:01Speaker 1: yeah yeah, not for me, it's you know, and I
- 28:04Speaker 1: think this is a good time to put all the
- 28:07Speaker 1: other numbers back into circulation. I'm with you, Fred, let's
- 28:10Speaker 1: do it. I think it's I think it's more of
- 28:11Speaker 1: a tribute to guys that we never saw play that,
- 28:15Speaker 1: you know, And I mean for me, to see fifty
- 28:17Speaker 1: six back out there. It would mean a lot to
- 28:19Speaker 1: me to to you know, and to remember Andre Tippot
- 28:21Speaker 1: rather than you know, I mean, it's not even up
- 28:23Speaker 1: in the stadium, right, likes the most consistent guy I've
- 28:26Speaker 1: ever seen on this kind of a topic. I appreciate
- 28:28Speaker 1: that you are, but I love it. I mean, I
- 28:30Speaker 1: just I think that that honors players much more and
- 28:33Speaker 1: put them up in the stadium, you know, like you
- 28:34Speaker 1: can still note who they were, these great you know Patriots.
- 28:37Speaker 1: But there's you know, some of these guys that like
- 28:39Speaker 1: Bob d I mean all respect to him, like you know,
- 28:41Speaker 1: it's just that's the one the Hall of Fame, like
- 28:45Speaker 1: Bob D and you know some of the other guys
- 28:49Speaker 1: you know, like Bust. I mean, the only two that
- 28:53Speaker 1: really like, if you have to other than Brady, would
- 28:56Speaker 1: be Hannah and Tippett. Yeah, even Mike Haines. He was
- 28:59Speaker 1: half raider, you know, probably more known as a raider.
- 29:03Speaker 1: The championship, I would have Mike Canes, but that there's
- 29:06Speaker 1: there's a handful that wouldn't be up there if yeah,
- 29:09Speaker 1: to me, and maybe you do some kind of ceremony
- 29:12Speaker 1: for those guys. You can't unretire numbers. I mean, you
- 29:15Speaker 1: can put them back in circulation, but they'll still be tied.
- 29:18Speaker 1: That's all I'm saying, you know. But but if there
- 29:20Speaker 1: is one that's not circulation, that's twelve. But do we
- 29:23Speaker 1: really need to like take them out of circulate, Like
- 29:25Speaker 1: what's what's the Has there been like a clamoring for
- 29:28Speaker 1: someone to wear number eighty nine? No, But it's just
- 29:31Speaker 1: like I just think that Brady, like his numbers should
- 29:36Speaker 1: just be That's why his number is displayed in the bowl. Yeah,
- 29:39Speaker 1: you know, do something like that at least, you know,
- 29:42Speaker 1: put it with the banners. Wouldn't have any without them.
- 29:44Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, so yeah, and and no one and no
- 29:51Speaker 1: one gets their number up there with unless you know,
- 29:54Speaker 1: thirty years from now they've risen to that level. Yeah
- 29:57Speaker 1: you know. I mean, and like we're not starting in
- 30:00Speaker 1: new thing. This is a Brady thing period, end of story.
- 30:04Speaker 1: Everybody understands that. Yeah. I like it. I mean, I
- 30:07Speaker 1: think I think all these ideas are great, and I
- 30:09Speaker 1: mean I'm sure all the Patriots fans are excited, and
- 30:11Speaker 1: I mean, I you know, and I've said this before,
- 30:13Speaker 1: like you know, all the Ticketmaster hub up that's gone
- 30:15Speaker 1: on like I've said before, I wish in the off
- 30:17Speaker 1: season we could do something where fans could line up
- 30:20Speaker 1: and get tickets, like you know, just line up old
- 30:21Speaker 1: fashioned get hard tickets, like making an event. Um. But
- 30:25Speaker 1: in the off season, you know, like have have it
- 30:26Speaker 1: like a whole day kind of like that's part, that's
- 30:28Speaker 1: part of the plan. Maybe you do that, but I
- 30:31Speaker 1: I think a whole Tom Brady day, and as Paul said,
- 30:33Speaker 1: inside the stadium I think would just be you know,
- 30:36Speaker 1: so cool. Maybe maybe even like walk around various plays
- 30:39Speaker 1: and set up is like a like a concert here.
- 30:41Speaker 1: Well you have all kinds of like on field seating,
- 30:45Speaker 1: you know, and you have all the VIPs like you
- 30:47Speaker 1: put up little pictures of like big plays like the
- 30:49Speaker 1: kennri Bell Tompkins catch. There's like a little like you
- 30:51Speaker 1: know photo on a stand of like right here was
- 30:53Speaker 1: one of these great plays. Which would you be opposed
- 30:56Speaker 1: doing it at some other place besides Gillette Stadium? No,
- 31:00Speaker 1: Like if you did it at Government Center, so you
- 31:03Speaker 1: could have three hundred thousand people instead of sixty thousand. Oh,
- 31:07Speaker 1: I thought you were going to go smaller so it'd
- 31:09Speaker 1: be more intimate. I kind of like the idea of
- 31:11Speaker 1: it being here. Yeah, it just feels like this is
- 31:14Speaker 1: where it happened. Then you have to deal with the city.
- 31:19Speaker 1: If it's a big venue, then I think it needs
- 31:22Speaker 1: to be here if you wanted to do it, you know,
- 31:24Speaker 1: at the garden, so be a little bit more intimate
- 31:26Speaker 1: and no easily seen. No way at the guarden, do
- 31:29Speaker 1: a femily, No way at the garden. Oh I just
- 31:31Speaker 1: saw a PFW dynasty. Yeah, I would not do it
- 31:34Speaker 1: at m Government Center and no one like that, no
- 31:37Speaker 1: one gets to see it. But it's not here than Canton,
- 31:40Speaker 1: and I can't really Oh no, he'll have his own,
- 31:43Speaker 1: but that's the only place that would feel like nothing
- 31:46Speaker 1: else would feel right. Yeah, now Canton just just I
- 31:49Speaker 1: don't think they should make an exception. He should wait
- 31:52Speaker 1: until oh yeah that's done. But for this team, yeah,
- 31:55Speaker 1: I mean, and it's a pause point too, Like I'm
- 31:57Speaker 1: just thinking back to like when they did the Edelman thing.
- 31:59Speaker 1: It time where it just feels so rushed and it's
- 32:02Speaker 1: like the clock hit zero at halftime, they're rolling out, okay, ESPN,
- 32:06Speaker 1: Brady retires and it's all Bucks logos. That's BS. It's BS. Oh,
- 32:11Speaker 1: I think they're talking about Kyle trast though maybe that's
- 32:13Speaker 1: a what does that have to do? It's bs Come on,
- 32:19Speaker 1: but it's about the Bucks. He Mike is right there
- 32:21Speaker 1: seeking replacement. Yeah, but it had Brady retires and it
- 32:24Speaker 1: had all Bucks logos. He spent twenty years here, three there.
- 32:29Speaker 1: So I guess on it bothers, I guess. I guess
- 32:33Speaker 1: this is something that really the people he needs to retire,
- 32:36Speaker 1: a patriot, taking them back, taking them all back. Well,
- 32:38Speaker 1: that's what it is. We want to claim him as ours.
- 32:41Speaker 1: He is not, according to Yes, why do you care
- 32:45Speaker 1: what they do? All of a sudden you hate You've
- 32:48Speaker 1: watch this for twenty years, you've you've called them the
- 32:50Speaker 1: anti Christ. Now you care that they have a logo.
- 32:54Speaker 1: I don't like the anti Christ. You know some nerds
- 32:58Speaker 1: putting up a Kiron. He's driving Fred crazy. Yeah, it's
- 33:00Speaker 1: amazing to me. Like the things that you find disrespecting,
- 33:04Speaker 1: I find that's just stupid. Oh sorry, now now we're
- 33:09Speaker 1: getting to a high level intellectual it's just conversation, really stupid.
- 33:13Speaker 1: I find it ridiculous. No, I wasn't here. Were you
- 33:16Speaker 1: offended by his retirement announcement last year? I wasn't. No,
- 33:20Speaker 1: I wasn't because that was the team he was leaving,
- 33:24Speaker 1: and I felt like, you know, later on, there'll be
- 33:26Speaker 1: other things, and I wasn't. I wasn't, and then I wasn't. Yeah,
- 33:29Speaker 1: it still hasn't. I know, I wasn't, but it didn't
- 33:32Speaker 1: bother me because I think in his mind when he
- 33:34Speaker 1: did that, he knew he was going to keep playing.
- 33:36Speaker 1: I don't know. I think that was all bs Well
- 33:39Speaker 1: who was saying yesterday they thought like it felt like
- 33:41Speaker 1: he just played this year out of spite because Adam
- 33:44Speaker 1: Schefter like scooped his first retirement. So he's like he
- 33:47Speaker 1: just played one more year because he was mad about that.
- 33:49Speaker 1: I don't know, but now I wasn't. I wasn't that
- 33:51Speaker 1: offended last year when he did that, and I you know,
- 33:54Speaker 1: he's done enough for me. Yeah, I didn't. I wasn't offended.
- 33:57Speaker 1: I think one of your guys last night on the
- 33:59Speaker 1: radio had a good word to sum up how he
- 34:03Speaker 1: was feeling, and I share it. Gratitude. Yeah, I feel
- 34:06Speaker 1: a great deal of gratitude what he did for this franchise.
- 34:10Speaker 1: It made your job better as a person working here,
- 34:14Speaker 1: you know. I mean, so I feel gratitude toward I
- 34:16Speaker 1: always will. I mean, I know, you guys didn't need McCarthy, y,
- 34:22Speaker 1: Matt McCarthy. I want to give him credit. Any faux outrage, yeah,
- 34:26Speaker 1: I mean, I know he was. He made the whole
- 34:28Speaker 1: show about Braid it give him credit. I mean, you
- 34:30Speaker 1: guys don't really you have the perspective on this. But
- 34:33Speaker 1: you know, even just for me, having gone through these
- 34:36Speaker 1: last few seasons, and just how special it is now
- 34:40Speaker 1: through the prism of what they've had to go through
- 34:42Speaker 1: the last few years, and just how hard it is
- 34:45Speaker 1: to consistently too. I mean, you see the other teams
- 34:47Speaker 1: in the league, I mean Kansas City, they've been able
- 34:49Speaker 1: to do it, but you just see how hard it
- 34:51Speaker 1: is to consistently compete for championships and be in the
- 34:54Speaker 1: AFC and conference championship games, and you know, winning the
- 34:57Speaker 1: division over and over and over again. It's just it's
- 34:59Speaker 1: it's it just gets more special as you get farther
- 35:02Speaker 1: in the rearview mirror of what they did and how
- 35:04Speaker 1: unprecedented it was. I was listening to you in a
- 35:06Speaker 1: big hit on his podcast yesterday. Do you listen to
- 35:09Speaker 1: our podcast? Well, it came across and so I clicked
- 35:12Speaker 1: on it. I listened to maybe the first I didn't
- 35:14Speaker 1: think anybody ever did that first ten or so minutes
- 35:16Speaker 1: in both the random jump in, Well he's not doing
- 35:19Speaker 1: it for nothing, I hope no, but I mean, never mind.
- 35:22Speaker 1: But I think both of you agree that there'll never
- 35:25Speaker 1: be anyone that reaches his level of achievement in terms
- 35:29Speaker 1: of winning Super Bowls. Probably not. Yeah, I think my
- 35:33Speaker 1: Homes has a chance, but he's got to start now,
- 35:36Speaker 1: like every year he doesn't win it, Like, I think
- 35:39Speaker 1: there's a chance that, like I'm not a big fan of,
- 35:42Speaker 1: there'll never be another one because we say it all
- 35:45Speaker 1: the time and then another one comes along. That's like
- 35:47Speaker 1: no one ever thought they'd be another Michael Jordan, right,
- 35:49Speaker 1: And I don't like Lebron James, but there's another Michael Jordan. Yep, Yeah,
- 35:53Speaker 1: you know I don't like them. I'll take Jordan over Lebron.
- 35:56Speaker 1: But yeah, I mean, facts are facts. So every sport,
- 36:00Speaker 1: every sport. And I think the way that the way
- 36:04Speaker 1: that sports is headed, I think is a trend of
- 36:08Speaker 1: you're going to see more and more guys play longer
- 36:11Speaker 1: into their careers the way Bady did. Now, maybe they
- 36:13Speaker 1: won't do it till forty five. You know, maybe Mahomes
- 36:16Speaker 1: won't be able to do that. I think Mahomes can
- 36:19Speaker 1: rival all of the numbers when he's done. Oh yeah,
- 36:24Speaker 1: but I probably would say he's probably not going to
- 36:26Speaker 1: win seven for the super Bowls, right, I think he could, Yeah,
- 36:29Speaker 1: but he's probably not going to because Andy Reid's a
- 36:31Speaker 1: lot older when this is starting, and he's gonna have
- 36:34Speaker 1: to do it with different guys and that's gonna be
- 36:36Speaker 1: harder to do. Yeah. That, I mean, it's just even.
- 36:38Speaker 1: I mean, some of the best Patriots teams that oh
- 36:41Speaker 1: seven didn't win the super Bowl, you know, and then
- 36:43Speaker 1: to have that second act where he just he went
- 36:45Speaker 1: ten years without one. I mean, how many guys are
- 36:47Speaker 1: going to go ten years between titles. I mean that
- 36:49Speaker 1: alone is just it speaks to the longevity, but also
- 36:52Speaker 1: just the ability to rebuild the team and make another
- 36:55Speaker 1: you know, championship team around him, you know. Is it's
- 36:58Speaker 1: that's another I think there's a better chance of the
- 37:00Speaker 1: Chiefs being in contention for twenty years than there is
- 37:04Speaker 1: for them winning seven titles. Yeah. One thing they were
- 37:07Speaker 1: doing on the radio was picking Brady's best games ever,
- 37:11Speaker 1: you know, and one that kind of got left off that.
- 37:15Speaker 1: I know they lost the Super Bowl, but that Philly
- 37:18Speaker 1: the Eagles game, I mean, how can you not put
- 37:20Speaker 1: that up there at least for him didn't have like
- 37:22Speaker 1: six hundred yards or something. Yeah, it was over five hundred,
- 37:25Speaker 1: you know, Like for him, that was one of his
- 37:27Speaker 1: best games ever. And had they won it, it definitely
- 37:30Speaker 1: would have been up there, you know. But they didn't
- 37:33Speaker 1: win it, so he gets sacked at the end and
- 37:35Speaker 1: loses the ball and that that tainted the whole thing.
- 37:39Speaker 1: But that was an amazing performance. Yeah, that's a good
- 37:42Speaker 1: that's a good one. And there's so it's so hard
- 37:43Speaker 1: to think because there were so many games where he
- 37:45Speaker 1: just like I think of oh nine in Tennessee where
- 37:47Speaker 1: it was just lights out and they blew doors off.
- 37:49Speaker 1: You know, does that count as one of his best
- 37:51Speaker 1: games or is it a game like one of the
- 37:52Speaker 1: Super Bowls where maybe he didn't play great, but when
- 37:55Speaker 1: it came down to the end, he was absolutely dead.
- 37:57Speaker 1: On to the Carolina one where they won. You know,
- 37:59Speaker 1: he throw a pick in the end zone in that game,
- 38:02Speaker 1: but like he was lights out when it had to be.
- 38:05Speaker 1: I would put you a game against the Eagles ahead
- 38:07Speaker 1: of like that Tennessee game. Yeah, when the other team
- 38:10Speaker 1: is capitulating, like especially back and forth. Right, Yeah, it's
- 38:16Speaker 1: Haymaker after Hayemaker and they're just trading punches. And you
- 38:19Speaker 1: know he was great. That was like burden m Dominique
- 38:22Speaker 1: Dominique Wilkins in that game. Right. Uh, maybe Seattle, the
- 38:26Speaker 1: Seattle Super Bowl. Seattle super Bowl is amazing. Quarter is amazing,
- 38:30Speaker 1: eight for eight. I think on the game winning drive
- 38:32Speaker 1: something that McCarthy had that as his number one. He said,
- 38:35Speaker 1: that was his Mona Lisa, that was his you know,
- 38:39Speaker 1: big Matt McCarthy for I'm gonna let him know. It
- 38:42Speaker 1: was just so he's a nice kid top of mind,
- 38:44Speaker 1: you know, like he said, you know they had lost
- 38:46Speaker 1: two super Bowls in a row. If you lose that one,
- 38:49Speaker 1: it's three in a row that you've lost. You had
- 38:52Speaker 1: to come back from ten. Yeah. Um. And he said
- 38:55Speaker 1: that was in his mind, his best game. The eighteen
- 38:58Speaker 1: AFC Championship. Casey, I mean you guys, will you guys,
- 39:00Speaker 1: oh that one that was a great one too, which was,
- 39:04Speaker 1: again to Paul's point, a game paymaker. You had to
- 39:06Speaker 1: have had to have had to have it. It's not
- 39:08Speaker 1: the other team playing like craps, so you found a
- 39:10Speaker 1: way to win. It's like both teams just trade and blows.
- 39:14Speaker 1: Now again, I the whole game is out of my memory.
- 39:17Speaker 1: But coming back from twenty four against Denver that night,
- 39:19Speaker 1: I have no recompenction of what Brady did in that game,
- 39:23Speaker 1: but I imagine he had a good game that one.
- 39:25Speaker 1: You know, Yeah, I mean, where do you how do you?
- 39:27Speaker 1: I mean, how do you categorize Super Bowl fifty one,
- 39:30Speaker 1: you know, with with it plays terrible, which you know,
- 39:33Speaker 1: Atlanta twenty eight to three, right, but then but then
- 39:37Speaker 1: lights out had to have it yea at the end.
- 39:40Speaker 1: I mean it's just it's through a pick. It's kind
- 39:42Speaker 1: of every kind of game you can imagine. There's you know,
- 39:44Speaker 1: probably I game where you played terrible the whole game
- 39:47Speaker 1: until the last driving they won somehow, like you know
- 39:49Speaker 1: Cleveland twenty thirteam where somehow they pulled out with like
- 39:52Speaker 1: an onside kick, and you know, I mean just there's
- 39:54Speaker 1: just so many games, I know, so many good games
- 39:57Speaker 1: and moments throws. Uh, but you know, to pick one
- 40:02Speaker 1: that's the greatest, it's hard, Yeah, touchdown, greatest touchdown paved
- 40:08Speaker 1: I think he picked the Moss one the record breaking
- 40:10Speaker 1: Moss one was one of his favorites. That was great.
- 40:13Speaker 1: You know, it was like you know that again they
- 40:15Speaker 1: were going toe to toe with the Giants. It was
- 40:17Speaker 1: a high scoring game. Uh and you know on all
- 40:20Speaker 1: four networks. Yeah, and he Moss just beats this guy
- 40:22Speaker 1: down the sideline. Brady hits him perfectly, and it's a
- 40:25Speaker 1: records for both guys. It was a record setting. You're
- 40:29Speaker 1: talking about like the caliber of pass sure, like no,
- 40:33Speaker 1: I mean physically you know that's that's like because way
- 40:36Speaker 1: Fred just described that Giants one to Moss like it
- 40:39Speaker 1: was an amazingly important touchdown for all the reasons. Fred
- 40:43Speaker 1: just said, um, but if we're just talking about like
- 40:46Speaker 1: from a skill perspective, you know, from that point of view,
- 40:49Speaker 1: there's a couple that like the one fell I think, Yeah,
- 40:52Speaker 1: the one against Baltimore to Fell is as perfect your
- 40:55Speaker 1: throwers you'll ever see. Or what's the one I was
- 40:57Speaker 1: going to say, what's the one to get that predictable?
- 40:59Speaker 1: Who did they hit again? It's the Saints here? Yeah,
- 41:04Speaker 1: well that's another one. Yeah, which when they were asking Brady,
- 41:07Speaker 1: I thought it they asked him about these throws and
- 41:09Speaker 1: he was like that one was more bad coverage. I
- 41:10Speaker 1: thought it was interesting, like he loved the the Moss one.
- 41:13Speaker 1: He talked about the Moss one was like a pitch
- 41:15Speaker 1: and catch. He was wide open. Yeah, but but that
- 41:17Speaker 1: one was I know. But again, like you know, if
- 41:19Speaker 1: he did a Brady thing, it'd be cool to have
- 41:21Speaker 1: like little places around the field where this is, where
- 41:25Speaker 1: is where this happened Monday night at Denver. I want
- 41:27Speaker 1: to say, oh, three, the Lonnie Paxton safety game. Oh yeah,
- 41:32Speaker 1: that touchdown to Givens with like twenty seconds left. Yep, ridiculous. Yep.
- 41:37Speaker 1: What about a worst game? I mean we're just we're
- 41:39Speaker 1: having fun here, but I mean the worst game always
- 41:41Speaker 1: had a few I mean thirty one nothing against the Bills.
- 41:45Speaker 1: He's bad in that game. Yeah, he was really some
- 41:47Speaker 1: of the starts in the Super Bowl, like Super Bowl
- 41:49Speaker 1: like forty six where he took like the safety and
- 41:51Speaker 1: there were just a couple of times you're like, why
- 41:53Speaker 1: why can't we get off to a good start, And
- 41:55Speaker 1: well even even that fifteen I think it was fifteen
- 41:57Speaker 1: against Denver where you know, Gronk almost well the game. Yeah,
- 42:01Speaker 1: Brady was having a terrible I mean it was small
- 42:03Speaker 1: killed it wasn't all his fault, but he was getting killed.
- 42:06Speaker 1: He was having a terrible game. He had really no
- 42:08Speaker 1: one to throw to. You know, Denver was teeing off
- 42:11Speaker 1: on him. It was just a frustrating game. I mean
- 42:14Speaker 1: maybe oh nine against the Ravens, but I just I
- 42:16Speaker 1: can't really think of a game where he didn't give
- 42:18Speaker 1: you a chance to win, where you know, like like,
- 42:20Speaker 1: no matter what the game was, he kind of made
- 42:22Speaker 1: a push. Even in that Ravens game, Like, I mean
- 42:24Speaker 1: they started to you know what you mentioned the Kansas
- 42:26Speaker 1: City game, right, yeah, the team they're not good anymore.
- 42:29Speaker 1: H Yeah, I mean he had a terrible game. I mean, yeah,
- 42:34Speaker 1: one when I'm thinking of the big game, like I'm
- 42:36Speaker 1: he had some three three pick games in the playoffs
- 42:39Speaker 1: that just completely took away any chance they had. I
- 42:41Speaker 1: mean the Denver won an oh five the champ Bailey
- 42:43Speaker 1: unsaids a terrible play by by Tom that picked by champion.
- 42:47Speaker 1: H he was off though. Um but I know this
- 42:51Speaker 1: is why funny to talk about because you're like good games,
- 42:55Speaker 1: You're like this one, this one, this one, like that game,
- 42:57Speaker 1: Well even the greatest, you know, can't be perfect. It
- 43:00Speaker 1: just show it's tough, but the fact that he was
- 43:03Speaker 1: so good for so many times, that's what separates him.
- 43:07Speaker 1: He's just squick it good, yeah good, you know, squick
- 43:10Speaker 1: handsome too. Yeah boy, Yeah, that's the thing. It's like,
- 43:15Speaker 1: I think Mina Kimes made this point. But just to
- 43:17Speaker 1: play as long as he did and have no one
- 43:19Speaker 1: have any like bad interpersonal things to say about you.
- 43:23Speaker 1: I mean he's uh, he's done a good job. I
- 43:25Speaker 1: mean there's probably some people again that's one of those
- 43:28Speaker 1: that good luck if you want to say something bad
- 43:31Speaker 1: about like we have to be an idiot to publicly
- 43:36Speaker 1: say something bad against Brady. But he you know, he
- 43:38Speaker 1: did do a good job managing his his image and
- 43:42Speaker 1: staying staying out of trouble even when it came to
- 43:46Speaker 1: the contracts. You know, was always done behind closed doors.
- 43:49Speaker 1: It never became a public tuggle war like you know
- 43:53Speaker 1: some of these players, you know, holding out and all
- 43:55Speaker 1: that stuff. Uh, some would argue maybe he should have,
- 43:59Speaker 1: but he never did. And um, yeah, I mean so
- 44:03Speaker 1: he was he was always it was always positive with him.
- 44:07Speaker 1: What do you think he sets up shop now? Like,
- 44:09Speaker 1: I mean, he seems like he's California and New York,
- 44:11Speaker 1: Boston Florida. I mean, it's all over the place. I
- 44:13Speaker 1: think he's gonna be. He's gonna spend most of the
- 44:16Speaker 1: time where his kids are. Yeah, East Coast. Yeah, I
- 44:20Speaker 1: restarted construction on their Miami mansion. I thought, Miami there,
- 44:24Speaker 1: what do you mean from the bushes in Florida. Um,
- 44:27Speaker 1: that big celebrity island in Miami where he was built.
- 44:31Speaker 1: Him and Gizelle were building the house. They stopped construction temporarily.
- 44:35Speaker 1: I don't know if that's to do more of the
- 44:37Speaker 1: divorce or the FTX crash or whatever it was, but um,
- 44:40Speaker 1: construction has resumed. Okay, obviously whose house is it going
- 44:44Speaker 1: to be? That's the question, you think. So well, she
- 44:48Speaker 1: bought a house across the street apparently, but I heard
- 44:50Speaker 1: it was like a really modest house. It wasn't It
- 44:52Speaker 1: was like oddly and her sister's name. So people think
- 44:56Speaker 1: it was kind of like a publicity stunt to buy
- 44:58Speaker 1: to buy the house, but I don't know. Yeah, he
- 45:01Speaker 1: was looking for schools for his kids in Miami last
- 45:04Speaker 1: last week, the week before. Yeah, he was video a
- 45:06Speaker 1: week of that. So I saw that fun time down there. Yeah,
- 45:11Speaker 1: it's you know, people get divorced, but when you're both
- 45:16Speaker 1: celebrities like that. It's I know, I gotta admit, just
- 45:20Speaker 1: her message, it just made me sad. I don't I mean,
- 45:22Speaker 1: I don't really care for him in this relationship, but
- 45:24Speaker 1: just like you know, to be married to somebody and
- 45:26Speaker 1: then all of a sudden, they're just like giving you
- 45:28Speaker 1: like this very basic congratulations and best of luck in
- 45:32Speaker 1: the future and your Instagram. I don't know, you know,
- 45:34Speaker 1: whatever it is you choose to do. Yeah, I have
- 45:36Speaker 1: no idea what it is, because you tell me anything
- 45:40Speaker 1: of luck in your future endeavors is like, oh, that's
- 45:42Speaker 1: a bummer. I mean they used to be like you
- 45:44Speaker 1: know that. Don't worry their publicists and social mediage. All right,
- 45:50Speaker 1: I can smell the buffalo sauce. So it's time to

- 57:14Speaker 1: I like like just some nice spices on there, like
- 57:17Speaker 1: some fancy ones. I mean I get a rub like crispy. Yeah,
- 57:21Speaker 1: I like, yeah, like crispy. This makes me want to
- 57:25Speaker 1: go to the hangar or wings over the hangar where's that?
- 57:28Speaker 1: The Hangar is the o G is an amorous But
- 57:30Speaker 1: do you know the wings Over franchise? No? No, Wow,
- 57:34Speaker 1: you guys have never ate at wings We've never been
- 57:36Speaker 1: to the central wings Overs in Boston everywhere? Is it
- 57:42Speaker 1: like a red Collars? I need your help now, Maddie's
- 57:46Speaker 1: shaking his head. Wings wings Over is it? It's a chain?
- 57:50Speaker 1: Wings Over is the takeout franchise that evolved from the Hangar,
- 57:55Speaker 1: which originally was just like a wings restaurant in Amherst.
- 57:59Speaker 1: Now there's a couple of them, they combined with Amorous brewing.
- 58:03Speaker 1: But they're everywhere, Like they're in Pennsylvania, they're in Illinois.
- 58:07Speaker 1: Is it like wings Over at the location name or
- 58:09Speaker 1: just wings Over? Yeah? So like there's a wings Over, Boston,
- 58:11Speaker 1: wins Over, Somerville wings Over. I'm surprised they's done down here. Now,
- 58:15Speaker 1: what are they comparable to? Its Wild Wings? Buffalo wild? Better? Better? Better?
- 58:21Speaker 1: Um Like? Especially their bonus ones are gonna be a
- 58:23Speaker 1: little bigger. They have the best bonus wings. Boning are good,
- 58:28Speaker 1: very good, but their bonus wings are a lot. I
- 58:32Speaker 1: like the honey barbecue. That's my I like that flavor.
- 58:34Speaker 1: That's I'm a garlic parmesan girl. Really hot buffalo barbecue
- 58:39Speaker 1: is excellent for babies. There's no bad wings buffalo like
- 58:42Speaker 1: a man. Well, buffalo are good, Oh yeah, no question not.
- 58:46Speaker 1: But honey barbecue, spicy barbecue good. My son has been
- 58:49Speaker 1: putting up hot garlic. She's been putting the buffalo spice
- 58:52Speaker 1: sauce on everything that he eats. He puts that bleap
- 58:54Speaker 1: on everything, but exactly. And I was trying to explain
- 58:57Speaker 1: to late. I'm like, you know they make buffalo. You
- 58:59Speaker 1: just tossed the in that stuff. No, that's too spicy.
- 59:01Speaker 1: I'm like, trust me. So last night I got him
- 59:03Speaker 1: just to like take a piece of fried chicken, toss
- 59:05Speaker 1: it in the in the bar, in the buffalo sauce,
- 59:07Speaker 1: and then a little bit of ranch. So we're, you know,
- 59:09Speaker 1: we're crossing boundaries. I don't know if I'll get him
- 59:11Speaker 1: to try the bone ones though that's ten year old.
- 59:13Speaker 1: Too far to the ranch. I don't like that. I
- 59:17Speaker 1: prefer blue cheese too, fred, but we didn't have any ant,
- 59:19Speaker 1: so I went with it. Although some people swear swear
- 59:23Speaker 1: by sour cream, I mean never and I've never had it,
- 59:28Speaker 1: And people say, don't knock it until you try. I
- 59:30Speaker 1: wouldn't kick out of anything. I was a waitress at
- 59:33Speaker 1: a wings restaurant for a very long time. All they're called,
- 59:36Speaker 1: have never served anyone. Yeah, no, it's it's I don't
- 59:39Speaker 1: know if it's a southern thing. People said, don't knock
- 59:41Speaker 1: it until you try. With sour cream. I just don't
- 59:44Speaker 1: think it has enough flavor. Oh I like my wife's
- 59:48Speaker 1: cooling property, though I don't want it. I want the
- 59:51Speaker 1: beach cheese on. My wife likes sour cream so much
- 59:53Speaker 1: that if we're doing taco night and we're like, I
- 59:55Speaker 1: got everything else avocado sour cream, No, she'll go. But
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: that's how she's like, Oh, we don't sound like that's
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: how much. So maybe we'll try. Well she so she
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: won't even sub it for like a Greek yogurt. Hell no,
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: hell and we have Greek yogurt, not even close. We're
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: not in sour cream. It's like a non starters. So
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: all right, Well, do you guys that you have the
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: blue cheese or the ranch on the wings. I'm not
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: a you know, I don't know, or but anyway, okay,
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: so you have like blue cheese on your wings? Yeah?
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: Do you do? You do you need that like for
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: taste or you know, like because I don't do either one. Yeah,
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: I just love the combination. Okay, yeah, me too. Blue cheese. Yeah,
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: especially if you have like hot buffalo wings, you need
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: like a little blue cheese to just take some of
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: the edge off. I don't wanted. That's that's what I like. Carrots.
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: You have the carrots or the celery every Yeah, and
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: you dunk no, no, no no, you dunk it in the sauce. Yeah.
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: I do that too, only when I'm after I finished. Right,
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: that's what you confuse and now I'll have my vegetables.
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: What a waste celery? The carrot at least has some tastes. Wat,
- 1:01:09Speaker 1: I had two carrots sticks. I mean, that's when you're
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: talking about like you're eating raw twine. Yeah, exactly. All right,
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: let's get to some of these emails, because people want
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: to weigh in on the goat. Tony writes in He's says,
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: just a little bit of melancholy. My first year as
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: a Patriots fan was when Joe Capp was the quarterback.
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: Saw a lot of bad football over the years. So
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: you and Fred were robby tailgating. Yeah. As a child,
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: wondered whether the Patriots would ever become Nick Boncani and
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: the Fins. At times, the Patriots were good, but something
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: always seemed to happen, whether it was Sugar Sugar Bear
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: Hamilton being called for roughing the pass or against the Raiders,
- 1:01:45Speaker 1: or the tragedy of Daryl Stingley Parcels brought hope. But
- 1:01:48Speaker 1: still the Patriots would never just good enough. Then the
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: football gods graced us with the football Messiah himself, and
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: we had the most wonderful twenty years any football fandom
- 1:01:58Speaker 1: could imagine. I will miss watching Tom Brady, but will
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: forever be grateful for both the sheer joy his play
- 1:02:04Speaker 1: gave me on all those Sundays, and for the opportunity
- 1:02:07Speaker 1: to watch the greatest quarterback of all time play for
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: my team. Man very well said, very well said, yep,
- 1:02:15Speaker 1: good job. Um let's see, I want to stick on
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: the Patriot Tom Brady theme, Mark writes in ignoring all
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: the other ones. Well for now, I just, you know,
- 1:02:25Speaker 1: want to stick on a senior Bowls going on. Oh yeah,
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: let's let's talk about that, um Mark, and fall Rivers says,
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: with Tom's retirement, it got me thinking about a debate question,
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: in your opinion, what is the most important game of
- 1:02:39Speaker 1: Tom Brady's career. Some options about thirty six, final game
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: of O seven, the regular season, super Bowl forty two,
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: forty nine, fifty one, twenty eighteen AFC championship deal with Mahomes,
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: or Super Bowl fifty five beating Mahomes and winning with
- 1:02:55Speaker 1: another team at age forty three. Most important that was?
- 1:02:59Speaker 1: I think I know what Paul was going to say,
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: it's important to well, I was gonna say maybe that
- 1:03:04Speaker 1: San Diego game in his first season as a starter,
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: where he didn't really know how things are going. I
- 1:03:09Speaker 1: mean most important. I mean it's hard to say the
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: end of his career was a most important. I just
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: I think that that moment was a little bit of
- 1:03:15Speaker 1: document for thirty six. Yeah, you could also like that
- 1:03:19Speaker 1: same season, what was the game that in Bill Belichick's
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: mind he said, Okay, he's my starter, because that would
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: have been I would have Yeah. That was coming off
- 1:03:31Speaker 1: the Miami loss. It was coming off the Bledsoe was
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: healthy and started practicing. They lost to the Rams, I
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: want to say in that area, and all of a
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: sudden bledso wasn't going to get any more reps because
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: quote Tom Brady is the quarterback for the foreseeable future,
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: and anyone out and lit it up against the Saints
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: after that, Yeah, I think I think thirty six because
- 1:03:55Speaker 1: to me, it's either thirty six or whatever. The Seattle
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: one was. What's the number of the Seattle one, forty
- 1:03:59Speaker 1: ninety nine. Those would be my two options. Yeah, because
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: like you know, McCarthy was saying last night, they had
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: lost two in a row. They just signed Garoppolo, you know,
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: and a lot of people even at that time we're saying, well,
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: you know it was he getting up there in age
- 1:04:14Speaker 1: and then he goes and wins that one and then
- 1:04:17Speaker 1: two things. Yeah, that I would say thirty six. Like
- 1:04:21Speaker 1: if you look at the you know, the way it
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: was sort of trending, they didn't score a lot of
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: points in thirty six, that that was the one out
- 1:04:28Speaker 1: of all of them that you could say. He was
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: a caretaker, you know, he was clutch when he had
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: to be, and they wouldn't have won it if just
- 1:04:35Speaker 1: some regular dude was out playing quarterback because he had
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: to be really clutch. He gets knocked out of the
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: AFC Championship game in the first half, didn't finish it,
- 1:04:45Speaker 1: and then really didn't do a whole lot in the
- 1:04:47Speaker 1: Super Bowl. He only threw for one hundred and twenty
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: yards in the Super Bowl, as it was one touchdown.
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: But that that drive at the end of the game,
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: to me, showed up solidified it. And that, you know,
- 1:04:59Speaker 1: I don't think anybody, even Bledzo honks like me, didn't
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: have any reservations whatsoever going forward. So that one and
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: the Seattle one to me is because I think the
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: whole ten year thing that Mike talked about before the break,
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: you know, the ten year gap between success and then
- 1:05:17Speaker 1: when you look at the first three A lot of
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: people say, I think incorrectly, but a lot of people
- 1:05:23Speaker 1: say the first three were about defense in Belichick, the
- 1:05:26Speaker 1: last three were about Brady. I don't necessarily buy that
- 1:05:31Speaker 1: because I think GO three and oh four were a
- 1:05:33Speaker 1: lot to do with Brady, But there would have been
- 1:05:38Speaker 1: an argument to be made that, like, he can't win
- 1:05:41Speaker 1: it when he's the focal point, you know, like when
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: he was setting all the records in OH seven they
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: fell short, Yeah, you know, when he had when he
- 1:05:50Speaker 1: had no defense and eleven they fell short, you know,
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: and then all of a sudden they get to the
- 1:05:55Speaker 1: Super Bowl against Seattle, one of the more legendary defenses
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: you know, in recent times, even though it was decimated
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: at the time by injuries. He just went up and
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: down the field twice in the fourth quarter and came
- 1:06:07Speaker 1: from behind. I think that one was that one cemented
- 1:06:10Speaker 1: the legacy the first. I would have to say, the
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: first one is the most important to think about. How
- 1:06:14Speaker 1: it would have been if they had lost three Super
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: Bowls in a row. Yeah, you know now there, but
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: like I said, all in the same kind of pattern,
- 1:06:20Speaker 1: all offense, not as much defense. Yeah, you can't win
- 1:06:24Speaker 1: that way, right, You're just like Peyton Manning. You can't
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: do it all your You can be great like Peyton Manning,
- 1:06:29Speaker 1: but you can't win it all on your own. Yea.
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: For me, I feel like for similar reasons, it was
- 1:06:34Speaker 1: the Atlanta one because I feel like watching that comeback,
- 1:06:36Speaker 1: it just became to a point where I'm like, I'm
- 1:06:39Speaker 1: no longer going to argue with anyone that Tom Brady's
- 1:06:42Speaker 1: not the greatest super Bowl of all time based on
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: what I just watched. It's now his hand. But I
- 1:06:49Speaker 1: think it took that comeback for a lot of people
- 1:06:50Speaker 1: to come to grips with that, Jack and and Arbor
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: agrees with me that the ESPN coverage is BSU good job.
- 1:07:02Speaker 1: Todd writes in I'm with Paul. No need for one
- 1:07:04Speaker 1: day contract for Brady and then they can say he
- 1:07:07Speaker 1: retired as a Patriot. It's useless. If they wanted this,
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: they should have talked to him two days ago and
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: had him signed on January thirty first, and then retire
- 1:07:15Speaker 1: in February first, as he did. Well, I don't know,
- 1:07:19Speaker 1: I don't care about the timing. Um and Florio wrote
- 1:07:23Speaker 1: something there, even with these stupid you know, one day contracts,
- 1:07:28Speaker 1: there is something you have to take an account the
- 1:07:29Speaker 1: league year and the actual retirement from the league and
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: all that stuff. And you know his status with the
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: bucks and money. You know it shouldn't you know, it
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: should be like completely phony. Yeah, shouldn't happen actually because
- 1:07:44Speaker 1: well because he's not technically a free asient until March. Right.
- 1:07:48Speaker 1: Um Joey says, uh am, I watching Patriots unfiltered or
- 1:07:55Speaker 1: the Golden Girls arguing just kidding, you guys are the best. Hey,
- 1:07:59Speaker 1: I don't know. Earlier we were us being old arguing
- 1:08:02Speaker 1: I'm a big Golden Girls man. Oh I'm here for it.
- 1:08:05Speaker 1: Um Ron and Cambridge says, m Brady never wanted to
- 1:08:10Speaker 1: be Tampa, Tom. He wanted to stay in the Patriots,
- 1:08:13Speaker 1: and some of their fans, including you, thought they'd all
- 1:08:16Speaker 1: be all good without him. There are a segment of
- 1:08:19Speaker 1: fans will always hold it against them for that. He
- 1:08:21Speaker 1: is the type of athlete that you write it out
- 1:08:23Speaker 1: with no matter what things have stunk since he left,
- 1:08:27Speaker 1: There's no doubt about that. I think I think you're
- 1:08:31Speaker 1: wenting Brady off the hook a little bit for leaving.
- 1:08:34Speaker 1: If he really wanted to stay, would have stayed. I
- 1:08:36Speaker 1: think if they paid him he would have. I agree, Yeah,
- 1:08:39Speaker 1: I think both both sides were Neil from New Brunswick.
- 1:08:43Speaker 1: Tom Brady, thank you. You gave us all so many memories.
- 1:08:47Speaker 1: I'd love the one day contract, but if it never happens,
- 1:08:50Speaker 1: it doesn't change the way I feel about you. Now,
- 1:08:52Speaker 1: go enjoy your life. You've given Patriots Nation in Tampa enough.
- 1:08:56Speaker 1: Has anyone ever noticed that Mike is always dipping his
- 1:08:58Speaker 1: toe in the draft. I just find it so funny.
- 1:09:01Speaker 1: I feel like the day before the draft shows who'll
- 1:09:03Speaker 1: be ankle deep. This is not meant as a criticism,
- 1:09:06Speaker 1: just another funny peu quirk that makes me laugh every time.
- 1:09:09Speaker 1: I know, And then he talks about the draft. I
- 1:09:12Speaker 1: don't care about that right right now, Neil, we'll get
- 1:09:15Speaker 1: into the draft. It's funny as I haven't I like it.
- 1:09:18Speaker 1: I mean, I just don't follow college football until this
- 1:09:20Speaker 1: all starts. And oh, we've got Karen Greegi and regarding
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: Giraffe Mayo, I'm hearing from a source we should pump
- 1:09:26Speaker 1: the brakes on him having a new title going forward,
- 1:09:28Speaker 1: a pay raise for sure, and his overall role could change,
- 1:09:30Speaker 1: but there might not be a different title. That's Karen
- 1:09:32Speaker 1: Greigian from the Bust and Flu, the old bait and Switch.
- 1:09:38Speaker 1: So the assistant line back whatever his title was before
- 1:09:42Speaker 1: and sitting in on offensive coordinator and his title isn't
- 1:09:46Speaker 1: changing or his role isn't changing. Yeah, I mean, come on,
- 1:09:50Speaker 1: it's a good point, Fred, what do we And we're
- 1:09:52Speaker 1: not going to hear about money, so I mean, in theory,
- 1:09:54Speaker 1: I'm assuming he's making more money, right, but you'll never
- 1:09:57Speaker 1: get an actual number on any of that. So I
- 1:09:59Speaker 1: mean fall and and some purposes, you intensive purposes. I mean,
- 1:10:05Speaker 1: how are you going to know anything's different this year
- 1:10:06Speaker 1: with him? Unless if he's still the inside linebackers code.
- 1:10:09Speaker 1: I hope we're past that, the whole subterfuge and all that, right, Yeah,
- 1:10:14Speaker 1: Mike in Lunenberg, there is no doubt in my mind
- 1:10:17Speaker 1: that the Crafts want Brady Knight to be during the season.
- 1:10:21Speaker 1: This year, there are nine home regular season games in
- 1:10:23Speaker 1: one preseason game, and as we know, they're giving up
- 1:10:25Speaker 1: one home game for the Germany game, so the season
- 1:10:28Speaker 1: ticket member package is now only nine games. I could
- 1:10:32Speaker 1: easily see them issuing a bonus ticket for Tom Brady
- 1:10:35Speaker 1: Knight in the stadium to keep the season ticket member
- 1:10:37Speaker 1: pricing in line with where it should be despite there
- 1:10:40Speaker 1: being one less game to charge us for now. Whether
- 1:10:43Speaker 1: the timing works for us out for this, who knows,
- 1:10:46Speaker 1: But my mind always goes to the business money aspect.
- 1:10:50Speaker 1: Can't blame me for doing that. Certainly the owners do.
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: But even if they do this not during the season,
- 1:10:55Speaker 1: you could still say, if you're season ticket member, you
- 1:10:57Speaker 1: get first DIBs to good idea, especially with the Germany game. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:11:03Speaker 1: but it's I think that's a non factor. It's a
- 1:11:05Speaker 1: fair point. It's a fair point, it's it's accurate. What
- 1:11:08Speaker 1: he said is true. I just don't think it's part
- 1:11:10Speaker 1: of the thought process. Yeah. Is that like an issue though,
- 1:11:13Speaker 1: like losing a game to go to Germany for the
- 1:11:15Speaker 1: season ticket holders? Is that I mean, is that a
- 1:11:17Speaker 1: thing they're not frailed about it? Yeah, based on I
- 1:11:20Speaker 1: read some of the mentions when we made the German
- 1:11:22Speaker 1: mini announcement and a very small percentage, We're like, great,
- 1:11:26Speaker 1: so I'm a season ticket holder, and well ten percent discount,
- 1:11:29Speaker 1: and say don't you you pay per game? Like that's
- 1:11:32Speaker 1: your season tickets? You pay? Yeah? Right, Yeah, so you're
- 1:11:37Speaker 1: not that's not a game, like you're not paying for it? Yeah,
- 1:11:41Speaker 1: I mean, maybe I'm wrong. Yeah, I don't know. I
- 1:11:43Speaker 1: think people will just complain about anything they have a
- 1:11:45Speaker 1: chance to complain about. Well, I mean, who am I
- 1:11:48Speaker 1: to argue with that. Tim Ritson, being a lifelong Patrios
- 1:11:51Speaker 1: fan with one of my earliest memories opening up the
- 1:11:53Speaker 1: original Schaeffer Stadium, my perspective is as long as we
- 1:11:56Speaker 1: have a great ceremony with a statue with its own
- 1:11:59Speaker 1: event in retirement of number twelve will be great. I
- 1:12:03Speaker 1: don't see the need for Tom Brady to be part
- 1:12:05Speaker 1: of the organization going forward. I don't even care if
- 1:12:08Speaker 1: he signs a one day contract, I hope that it
- 1:12:10Speaker 1: can be done around the opening of the new lighthouse.
- 1:12:12Speaker 1: And yes have a lot of people throughout his career
- 1:12:15Speaker 1: to speak and share memories. I absolutely love the Catch
- 1:12:17Speaker 1: twenty two show with Evan and Alex Where Does That Have?
- 1:12:20Speaker 1: It has become my second favorite podcast, only behind the
- 1:12:23Speaker 1: World's original podcast ps Adam Jones is another sports personality
- 1:12:27Speaker 1: that is out on Mac Jones. Well, we know that
- 1:12:29Speaker 1: he's out on everybody and he went from strongly in
- 1:12:33Speaker 1: on Mac Jones to out on Mac Jones. What did that?
- 1:12:41Speaker 1: Just that? L from Wisconsin, I'm curious as to your
- 1:12:47Speaker 1: thoughts about something. Brady is the greatest of all time.
- 1:12:50Speaker 1: To me, the second best during his tenure was Peyton Manning.
- 1:12:54Speaker 1: Similarly to Bill and Andy Reid, who do you think
- 1:12:56Speaker 1: has the bigger gap to Bill and Andy? Read who
- 1:13:00Speaker 1: has the bigger gap? So is there a bigger gap
- 1:13:02Speaker 1: between Brady and Manning or Bill and Read? My opinion,
- 1:13:06Speaker 1: Brady is significantly better than Peyton, which is someone who
- 1:13:10Speaker 1: watched a lot of old Colts game isn't sane to
- 1:13:12Speaker 1: think about? Meanwhile, I think Bill sits slightly below below
- 1:13:17Speaker 1: Read Huh, this is really territory I could care less about.
- 1:13:24Speaker 1: It's hard enough trying to do Brady and Belichick. Now
- 1:13:26Speaker 1: I gonna do Brady and Belichick vers Reading and Mahones.
- 1:13:29Speaker 1: I don't know. I think Mahomes. I think Manning and
- 1:13:31Speaker 1: Brady is really close. I think Brady and Manning is
- 1:13:33Speaker 1: really close. I mean, I think Peyton Manning was supremely talented,
- 1:13:37Speaker 1: and injuries did him in what would have looked like
- 1:13:39Speaker 1: if Peyton Manning hadn't gotten hurt, might be him closer.
- 1:13:41Speaker 1: But I don't think it's that big of a gap.
- 1:13:43Speaker 1: I don't know. It's hard to say with Bill because
- 1:13:46Speaker 1: a lot of like what comes from him is like
- 1:13:48Speaker 1: what he did, you know, is a coordinator and his
- 1:13:51Speaker 1: you know, like he's just got I don't know, more
- 1:13:53Speaker 1: kind of touch points to point two of like, well
- 1:13:55Speaker 1: he did this, And I mean Andy Reid has just
- 1:13:57Speaker 1: been an excellent head coach with two different franchises and
- 1:14:00Speaker 1: you know, has his team in contention pretty much every year.
- 1:14:03Speaker 1: I can't don't. I don't know what to say about
- 1:14:05Speaker 1: what the gap is between them, but I think Bill
- 1:14:08Speaker 1: just has a is there a decent coach who wouldn't
- 1:14:13Speaker 1: be in contention every year with either Mahomes or Brady.
- 1:14:17Speaker 1: How about Alex Smith Donovan Nab? I'm not talking, I
- 1:14:21Speaker 1: said with those two, Like, no, I think you'd have
- 1:14:24Speaker 1: to be a really really bad guys to not contend
- 1:14:27Speaker 1: with Brady or Mahomes. Right, but Andy Reid contended with
- 1:14:32Speaker 1: really bad to mediocre quarterbacks. Yeah, like Alex Smith is mediocre.
- 1:14:36Speaker 1: McNabb is bad. Yeah, Altack gout in the playoffs with
- 1:14:40Speaker 1: Testaverdi much better than Donovan Nabb really really terrible? Come on,
- 1:14:47Speaker 1: Paul terrible. I mean I remember him pukin at the
- 1:14:49Speaker 1: end of the Super Bowl. But I felt like what
- 1:14:51Speaker 1: happened to donovanc nab when he no longer had Andy Reid?
- 1:14:54Speaker 1: I don't know, Yeah, exactly. He's older than a Yami
- 1:14:58Speaker 1: writes in in Andy for Brady, they have some local
- 1:15:00Speaker 1: room scenes with multiple Patriots players. Do you know if
- 1:15:03Speaker 1: those scenes were shot at Gilette Stadium? You got to
- 1:15:06Speaker 1: spring chicken? Tom Brady went on to win a Super
- 1:15:08Speaker 1: Bowl without Pellichick. But were you guys? McNab was old
- 1:15:10Speaker 1: when he left Andy Reid. Not everybody ages like Brady.
- 1:15:13Speaker 1: You can't compare him to other people. Were you guys
- 1:15:16Speaker 1: aware the movie in quarterback eighties for Brady was being made. Uh, yeah,
- 1:15:20Speaker 1: well we were aware of that. Oh like in the stadium. No,
- 1:15:25Speaker 1: I knew about the movie just the Houston movie was
- 1:15:27Speaker 1: shooting here, but not that. I didn't know that they
- 1:15:28Speaker 1: were making this movie until it was out. Oh, no, Brady,
- 1:15:32Speaker 1: they talked about it. Pictures, superf It's Brady's company. They
- 1:15:38Speaker 1: were promoting it for a long time. I don't remember,
- 1:15:41Speaker 1: but I don't remember them being here. Show think they
- 1:15:43Speaker 1: shot it in Hollywood. I think it's probably no. Probably
- 1:15:48Speaker 1: they're going to the super Bowl. They're not. They're not
- 1:15:50Speaker 1: coming here. They're going They're going to the Atlantic Game.
- 1:15:52Speaker 1: Well did you see it, Alex. It hasn't already been shown.
- 1:15:55Speaker 1: I have not seen the famous people like you. I've
- 1:15:57Speaker 1: been really holding out for a good new movie. You
- 1:16:00Speaker 1: can see the movies, and that ain't it. I just
- 1:16:03Speaker 1: don't get who the audience is for that movie. Like
- 1:16:05Speaker 1: what it's just a strange kind of mind between old
- 1:16:08Speaker 1: people and sports fans, Like that's your kind of cross
- 1:16:11Speaker 1: section of who you're trying to get football fans and
- 1:16:12Speaker 1: old people at the middle, middle aged and older women.
- 1:16:16Speaker 1: I think it's the I mean, knowing how hard it
- 1:16:18Speaker 1: is to get anything made in LA Like I just
- 1:16:20Speaker 1: I mean it's Tom Brady and the cast, and I
- 1:16:22Speaker 1: don't make it. There's no I don't think him like,
- 1:16:27Speaker 1: Oh really, do you think sports writers would come and
- 1:16:29Speaker 1: once does for any little thing? They can tweet out
- 1:16:31Speaker 1: that Brady doesn't it? Oh? Not because they want to
- 1:16:35Speaker 1: see it? Okay, it's like as work as work research. Yeah, okay, Cody,
- 1:16:40Speaker 1: are you going to see it? Fred? No, if if
- 1:16:43Speaker 1: it's on TV someday I might. They're going for pleasure,
- 1:16:47Speaker 1: you know, But you think like a sports writer would
- 1:16:50Speaker 1: want to see that movie. Absolutely. We're talking about the
- 1:16:52Speaker 1: same people that would rub lotion on players backs. Another
- 1:16:55Speaker 1: great point. This is why I at all time, you know,
- 1:17:00Speaker 1: I can't. I can't argue. I can't either. Can I
- 1:17:03Speaker 1: make a quick point though? You know, Paul, thinking back
- 1:17:05Speaker 1: at your any read thing though, like, I mean, he's
- 1:17:07Speaker 1: an offensive coach though, you know, so is it like
- 1:17:08Speaker 1: is it fair to say, oh, he's such a better
- 1:17:10Speaker 1: coach because he'd better. I didn't say he's a better coach.
- 1:17:12Speaker 1: Well you said Andy Reid had like how to I mean,
- 1:17:15Speaker 1: you're implying that he was No, don't know. I'm just saying,
- 1:17:18Speaker 1: but I think Belichick is a great coach too. But
- 1:17:20Speaker 1: but but I'm saying if you're talking about he was
- 1:17:23Speaker 1: an offensive coach, and you're saying, well, Bill can't coach
- 1:17:25Speaker 1: a quarterback, but he's not. I mean, technically he's not.
- 1:17:26Speaker 1: I didn't say Bill can't coach anything. First, But the
- 1:17:30Speaker 1: second thing is I was responding to Fred claiming that
- 1:17:32Speaker 1: anybody could win with Patrick Mullmes, which I would agree with.
- 1:17:35Speaker 1: If you're a reasonably good coach, anybody would win. I
- 1:17:38Speaker 1: don't think that's Andy Reid's resume, but any Reid's resume
- 1:17:41Speaker 1: is winning with whatever he has. Right. But but I mean,
- 1:17:44Speaker 1: he's an offensive coach, so we're talking about quarterbacks. But no,
- 1:17:47Speaker 1: you'relding up his offense. Well, I mean a lot of it, right,
- 1:17:52Speaker 1: Like I mean, I think he's also smart enough to
- 1:17:55Speaker 1: know Brian Dawkins was pretty good. Exactly, I'm gonna I'm
- 1:17:59Speaker 1: smart enough to know I'm gonna get Jimmy Johnson to
- 1:18:01Speaker 1: coach my defense. I'm gonna get Steve Spagnolo to coach
- 1:18:03Speaker 1: my defense. That's being smart. That's not saying he's not
- 1:18:07Speaker 1: in my inner sanctum. I don't want him, Like that's
- 1:18:12Speaker 1: part of the struggles right now without Brady, maybe it
- 1:18:15Speaker 1: wouldn't be as big of a struggle if they had
- 1:18:17Speaker 1: an offensive coordin. Maybe it'll be better this year. So
- 1:18:19Speaker 1: with Bill O'Brien back and you have an actual offensive coordinator.
- 1:18:22Speaker 1: But it's right, but as it's safe to say that
- 1:18:24Speaker 1: Andy Reid and Bill Belichick without a generational quarterback, are
- 1:18:28Speaker 1: somewhat more reliant on the other side of the bat.
- 1:18:30Speaker 1: Like why didn't in Kansas City win more? When when
- 1:18:33Speaker 1: they had those quarters? Like why didn't they win? Why
- 1:18:35Speaker 1: didn't they go to a super Bowl? Because with who?
- 1:18:38Speaker 1: With Alex Smith? Or because he wasn't good enough. He's
- 1:18:41Speaker 1: not a good he's not that good. They met they
- 1:18:44Speaker 1: maxim I mean, they were going twelve and four with
- 1:18:45Speaker 1: Alex Smith and they were going in the playoffs and
- 1:18:48Speaker 1: they were winning some playoff games, but they weren't a
- 1:18:50Speaker 1: super Bowl team with Alex Smith at the helm. But
- 1:18:53Speaker 1: how's their defense? Yeah, so, and the Patriots offense has
- 1:18:57Speaker 1: been Sorry, I just I just says it wasn't last year.
- 1:19:01Speaker 1: I see similarities between the two coaches when you know,
- 1:19:04Speaker 1: like Andy Reids a quarter he's an offensive coach. He's
- 1:19:06Speaker 1: had better okay perform. So I like the way you
- 1:19:08Speaker 1: just said that. Do you think Patriots fans think this
- 1:19:10Speaker 1: is this compared. I'm not going to get into like
- 1:19:13Speaker 1: the Patriot fans think. I just I'm saying what I
- 1:19:15Speaker 1: certainly not want. But nice call, friend, that was a
- 1:19:19Speaker 1: great call. I mean, you don't like Brady, I mean,
- 1:19:23Speaker 1: what are we doing? But I'm just trying to draw
- 1:19:25Speaker 1: some similarities of you know, all things being equal, that
- 1:19:28Speaker 1: when Bill had teams, that defense was a little bit better,
- 1:19:31Speaker 1: and Andy Reid had teams, the offense was I think
- 1:19:33Speaker 1: most people and I would I would, and I would
- 1:19:37Speaker 1: co sign. I would co sign that Belichick is But
- 1:19:40Speaker 1: but there are there is a growing a ground swell
- 1:19:43Speaker 1: about Andy Reid, right but not here. If you if
- 1:19:46Speaker 1: you were not here here, not here. Andy Reid is
- 1:19:48Speaker 1: a buffoon who can't manage the clock. Not here. That's
- 1:19:51Speaker 1: that's Andy Reid's reputation. But nationally people are saying, but
- 1:19:55Speaker 1: no one thinks he's better than Belichick. Tony Roman, Well,
- 1:19:58Speaker 1: you just but I think part of it two is
- 1:20:00Speaker 1: like it's an offensive league. Now you can't play defense anymore,
- 1:20:03Speaker 1: so you know what I mean, Like, it's just it's
- 1:20:04Speaker 1: it's highlighted more than Andy Reads a great offensive coach,
- 1:20:06Speaker 1: and deservedly so. As the as the league moved more
- 1:20:09Speaker 1: towards offense, it kind of highlights him a little bit.
- 1:20:12Speaker 1: It highlights him, you know. It's it's harder for Bill
- 1:20:14Speaker 1: probably to build a defense and and play at that
- 1:20:16Speaker 1: level that he's you know, famous for when it was
- 1:20:19Speaker 1: in like oh, three oh four and those defenses. He
- 1:20:21Speaker 1: went to four conference chips in a row, killing everybody,
- 1:20:24Speaker 1: And it's an offensive coach, and he went to four
- 1:20:27Speaker 1: conference championships in a row as an offensive coach in
- 1:20:30Speaker 1: a defensive era, Like, I don't know, just what are
- 1:20:32Speaker 1: you talking about, Andy Reid? And he went to four
- 1:20:34Speaker 1: conference championships in a row in an offense in a
- 1:20:37Speaker 1: defensive era. Well, like, well, I'm not with a like
- 1:20:42Speaker 1: a pretty he made a guy look a lot better
- 1:20:45Speaker 1: than he was, and he fell apart as he left
- 1:20:47Speaker 1: me and Andy Reid, Well shouldn't he? I mean, if that,
- 1:20:49Speaker 1: if he's an offensive coach, that's what he should do.
- 1:20:50Speaker 1: So why was like the twenty eleven defense so bad? Then?
- 1:20:53Speaker 1: If it's just about having a defensive minded coach or
- 1:20:55Speaker 1: an offensive minded coach. He's good. He's good, like I think.
- 1:20:59Speaker 1: I mean, I think Bill is the better coach. I
- 1:21:01Speaker 1: think he has more of a grasp on the head
- 1:21:04Speaker 1: coaching duties. I think he's in the game. I think
- 1:21:07Speaker 1: his game operation over the twenty plus years that I've
- 1:21:11Speaker 1: watched is almost always great. That's why I think he's
- 1:21:14Speaker 1: better than Andy Reid. But I think Andy Reid is
- 1:21:17Speaker 1: criminally underrated around here. And I think comments like who
- 1:21:22Speaker 1: Wouldn't win with Patrick Mahomes is an example of criminally
- 1:21:25Speaker 1: underrating Andy Reid. And I will say that Andy Reid's
- 1:21:28Speaker 1: State farm commercial is better than Bill Belichick's subject commercial.
- 1:21:32Speaker 1: I will give him that. I like when he goes
- 1:21:34Speaker 1: I'm gonna get to the bottom of this, like they
- 1:21:38Speaker 1: gave him a cheeseburger for Christmas. Yeah, I think Bill
- 1:21:43Speaker 1: is better, and I would not. I'm not trying to
- 1:21:45Speaker 1: say that to Pander. I'm not trying to just say
- 1:21:48Speaker 1: oh no, no, no no. I'm giving you all the
- 1:21:50Speaker 1: reasons why I think Andy Reid is great, but Bill's Like,
- 1:21:52Speaker 1: I think Bill is the better coach, but I think
- 1:21:55Speaker 1: Andy Reid is a great coach. I think they're both
- 1:21:58Speaker 1: great coaches. I just think that there's a real difference
- 1:22:00Speaker 1: though that doesn't really get high, like they just get
- 1:22:02Speaker 1: compared as coaches, and you know, they have their specialties,
- 1:22:05Speaker 1: you know, I just I think that that's something I highlight.
- 1:22:07Speaker 1: I'm not you know, I'm not trying to make this
- 1:22:09Speaker 1: into some long thing about you know, Andy Reid not
- 1:22:12Speaker 1: being anywhere close to the Belichick. Oh it's good, but
- 1:22:14Speaker 1: it's good to be you know, it's good discussions. It's
- 1:22:16Speaker 1: it's an interesting thing. I would have loved to seeing
- 1:22:18Speaker 1: Andy Reid coach Mac Jones. What does that look like?
- 1:22:21Speaker 1: You know, I mean, I didn't mean to. I didn't
- 1:22:24Speaker 1: mean to intrude on the you know, should should Tom
- 1:22:26Speaker 1: Brady sign a one day contract? Talk? You know that's
- 1:22:28Speaker 1: lighting up? You know webs Cody and Nova Scotia just
- 1:22:31Speaker 1: wanted to write to say I couldn't agree more with
- 1:22:33Speaker 1: Fred's opinion and how irritated I get by Brady contract
- 1:22:37Speaker 1: shown in bucks Jo. Same thing as how all of
- 1:22:41Speaker 1: a sudden Madden I'm manning is only shown in a
- 1:22:44Speaker 1: broncos Where have you guys have been for three years?
- 1:22:45Speaker 1: Like I'm the only one who hated Brady in Tampa Bay.
- 1:22:47Speaker 1: They will get bothered watching them, and all of a
- 1:22:49Speaker 1: sudden people are losing their minds. This is ESPN hatred,
- 1:22:52Speaker 1: not Brady. You know, to some extent, I feel it's
- 1:22:54Speaker 1: an intentional slight to Patriot. But you know what ESPN.
- 1:22:59Speaker 1: You know, like when he said they showed you know,
- 1:23:01Speaker 1: Manning and the Bronco a lot of its laziness because
- 1:23:04Speaker 1: the more recent footage that they have at their fingertips
- 1:23:07Speaker 1: is where he just playing. And now I'm gonna go
- 1:23:08Speaker 1: back to another thing, which I would get all mad
- 1:23:10Speaker 1: whenever Antonio Brown thing was going on, and all they
- 1:23:12Speaker 1: would show was him as a Patriot, and it was like,
- 1:23:15Speaker 1: he's like a Steeler and probably be like, well he's
- 1:23:17Speaker 1: just recently played for the Beach, right, but not anymore.
- 1:23:20Speaker 1: Well that was, you know, back right once he played
- 1:23:22Speaker 1: for Every time, it's him throwing his uniform off and
- 1:23:27Speaker 1: walking around with no shirt on, right, tied it all together.
- 1:23:30Speaker 1: Oh man, what a trip that was? Oh talk about
- 1:23:34Speaker 1: I mean, there's been like four lives. We were we
- 1:23:38Speaker 1: were upstairs in the bullpen. It was like a Friday,
- 1:23:41Speaker 1: remember Thursday. Was sitting around for like an hour just
- 1:23:44Speaker 1: talking and then all of a sudden they had to
- 1:23:46Speaker 1: release him. You're like, what just happened? Happened was like
- 1:23:49Speaker 1: a Siah relief. But there have been I don't know,
- 1:23:51Speaker 1: maybe two three times since creing here coming down to
- 1:23:54Speaker 1: do this show being like, oh God, I don't know
- 1:23:56Speaker 1: what I'm gonna say. How we're going to come up
- 1:23:58Speaker 1: with something nice to say about that guy? Five past
- 1:24:01Speaker 1: five hundred is the ace ticket outline. Let's get to
- 1:24:04Speaker 1: the phones. Williams and Philham, what's up? Oh? He hung
- 1:24:07Speaker 1: up out? How about David and Vegas? What's up David? Hey? Hey,
- 1:24:16Speaker 1: did you hear me? Yes? Oh? Okay, So I had
- 1:24:19Speaker 1: a quick question for you now that this season is over. Um,
- 1:24:22Speaker 1: one of the most exciting people on the team for
- 1:24:24Speaker 1: me was little Jordan Humphrey, and he got cut in November.
- 1:24:27Speaker 1: And I don't really understand why a guy who was
- 1:24:30Speaker 1: so excited in the preseason, who did so well with
- 1:24:32Speaker 1: Bailey's Appy, got cut. But here I see futures contract
- 1:24:36Speaker 1: with Bill Murray and you know, Trey Nixon and people
- 1:24:39Speaker 1: who don't think to make an impact at all? Yeah,
- 1:24:43Speaker 1: what do you think of Tom Brady? Little Little Jordan
- 1:24:46Speaker 1: Humphrey had two catches all season. Yeah, I think that
- 1:24:49Speaker 1: that was a case where people were hyping that up
- 1:24:51Speaker 1: as something and I'm gonna guess that he didn't have
- 1:24:53Speaker 1: any from Bailey's appy. I mean he was big and slow,
- 1:24:57Speaker 1: you know, like and I'm like, how many big slow
- 1:24:59Speaker 1: receivers need if he if he had maybe some speed,
- 1:25:01Speaker 1: that would have been one thing. But what made you
- 1:25:04Speaker 1: excited about him? David? Just curious, didn't you know? I
- 1:25:07Speaker 1: saw him when he came out to Las Vegas for
- 1:25:09Speaker 1: the preseason, and it seems like every time they threw
- 1:25:11Speaker 1: a ball his but he cut it. He did have
- 1:25:12Speaker 1: a good think against it, you know, to actually catch something. Yeah,
- 1:25:17Speaker 1: and he also was six four and twenty five. It
- 1:25:19Speaker 1: seemed like he could do everything. And when time Montgomery
- 1:25:21Speaker 1: went down, it seemed like here was the guy to
- 1:25:23Speaker 1: step in him as the third tight end. And yeah,
- 1:25:27Speaker 1: I think he got to take it here. Yeah, what
- 1:25:28Speaker 1: he did as a whole though, not like this should
- 1:25:31Speaker 1: be a disclaimer for preseason games. The results in preseason
- 1:25:34Speaker 1: games do not, you know, necessarily reflect future earnings. You know,
- 1:25:38Speaker 1: Plus they were in eleven personal thanks David Year. I
- 1:25:41Speaker 1: mean heavy just three receiver sets and tight ends, who's
- 1:25:45Speaker 1: who are you pulling to get him on the field.
- 1:25:47Speaker 1: And and I'm saying that is you know, somebody who's
- 1:25:49Speaker 1: not pounding, you know everything. For how great the receivers were.
- 1:25:53Speaker 1: We listen in a season like last year, I can
- 1:25:56Speaker 1: understand Patriots fans wondering why any guy didn't do more right?
- 1:25:59Speaker 1: You know? How? How does he? How is he not
- 1:26:01Speaker 1: in there? Right? Um? Andrew's in LA? What's up? Andrew? Hey, guys,
- 1:26:07Speaker 1: we got to talk more about little Jordan. Hum. We
- 1:26:11Speaker 1: we're actually signing little Jordan a one year, one day
- 1:26:13Speaker 1: contract so we can bring him back, okay? And can
- 1:26:16Speaker 1: we retire his number? Yeah? Number one three. It's just
- 1:26:20Speaker 1: gonna be a little welcome. We just have a little
- 1:26:22Speaker 1: up there, no number. All right. Well, I was in
- 1:26:25Speaker 1: a I was in a work meeting, so I didn't
- 1:26:27Speaker 1: get to hear. Are you guys? Is there plans to
- 1:26:29Speaker 1: do like a braiding night or what? There are no plans? Yeah,
- 1:26:34Speaker 1: we kind of just planned it out here. Paul laid
- 1:26:37Speaker 1: it out. I'm here for you. Just go about three
- 1:26:39Speaker 1: minutes into the show. Yea that there are no plans
- 1:26:44Speaker 1: at all? Um? You know I'm imagining that we won't
- 1:26:48Speaker 1: know of anything happening for months. Yeah, I'm the guy
- 1:26:51Speaker 1: that when Bet says we should do this, I never
- 1:26:53Speaker 1: thought about it. And you guys obviously can do with
- 1:26:57Speaker 1: this what you want because you guys are the big shots.
- 1:26:59Speaker 1: But I was just thinking about how many great moments
- 1:27:04Speaker 1: there were at Gillette and how they happened all over
- 1:27:08Speaker 1: the field with Brady, and if there was like a
- 1:27:12Speaker 1: do you guys remember like in Sandlot when like they
- 1:27:15Speaker 1: like fade away from the kids and then they're kind
- 1:27:18Speaker 1: of like into the older person and then they do
- 1:27:21Speaker 1: it in like a lot of different movies about sports
- 1:27:23Speaker 1: and everything. But I thought it'd be so cool if
- 1:27:26Speaker 1: you had a camera and you were focusing in on
- 1:27:29Speaker 1: like one area of the field and then you could
- 1:27:31Speaker 1: kind of like dissolve into a play happening right there,
- 1:27:37Speaker 1: like the whole crowd reaction going on with that, and
- 1:27:40Speaker 1: just like that night showing the best plays and you
- 1:27:43Speaker 1: guys could pick what what plays you wanted to do,
- 1:27:46Speaker 1: but like the Ken Burl Tompkins throw, how awesome that
- 1:27:49Speaker 1: was and just like dissolving into that place. Yeah, I
- 1:27:52Speaker 1: think that's I think that's a great idea. And like
- 1:27:55Speaker 1: I said, you know, when they did the Larry bird Night.
- 1:27:58Speaker 1: The Celtics hired NFL Entertainment to produce it, and I
- 1:28:01Speaker 1: think the Patriots would do well. Like not that our
- 1:28:04Speaker 1: content team isn't good, but I think we should look
- 1:28:08Speaker 1: to NFL Film, We should look to maybe Hollywood to
- 1:28:12Speaker 1: really you know, produce the hell out of this thing
- 1:28:15Speaker 1: and ideas like that. That type of editing and concept.
- 1:28:19Speaker 1: I think you need to do that because you want
- 1:28:21Speaker 1: people's hair to stand on its edge. Yeah, you know
- 1:28:25Speaker 1: when they're watching this stuff. Did you did your team
- 1:28:28Speaker 1: do the video that got released when Brady retired the
- 1:28:31Speaker 1: announcement came out the four minute Yeah we did that. Yeah,
- 1:28:35Speaker 1: that was awesome guys. Oh thank you John. Yep, that
- 1:28:38Speaker 1: really encapsulated like my life growing up because I too
- 1:28:42Speaker 1: think I mean, I was Devin in there something when
- 1:28:46Speaker 1: they won the first Super Bowl. So my entire life
- 1:28:49Speaker 1: has just seen you like Brady and like this franchise.
- 1:28:53Speaker 1: So that really encapsulated like my entire bandom as as
- 1:28:57Speaker 1: a Patriots fan. So that was really awesome to see.
- 1:28:59Speaker 1: So I appreciate it. All right, thanks for the call Andrew,
- 1:29:02Speaker 1: Andrew calling out of la with la ideas well. That
- 1:29:05Speaker 1: was a really good kind of blend of it, and
- 1:29:08Speaker 1: then I'm want to build off of that is there?
- 1:29:09Speaker 1: Maybe could you do it in like a VR thing,
- 1:29:11Speaker 1: you know, where like you go down and you're actually
- 1:29:14Speaker 1: or like at least like augmented reality where it's like
- 1:29:16Speaker 1: a Snapchat fielder highlighting that part of ideas. And well,
- 1:29:20Speaker 1: maybe like you know, Andrew's going to sit in on
- 1:29:22Speaker 1: our next content. Maybe you know you really want to
- 1:29:24Speaker 1: think big and meta. You know, the company they sponsor
- 1:29:28Speaker 1: the thing and everybody that comes in gets a quest
- 1:29:31Speaker 1: and you can do something like that. Would that be
- 1:29:33Speaker 1: awesome or what? Amazing? M? Paul writes in So just
- 1:29:38Speaker 1: pretend for a minute that Brady announced his retirement yesterday
- 1:29:41Speaker 1: having never left the Patriots, how do you imagine the
- 1:29:45Speaker 1: last three years would have gone? Obviously no Cam Newton,
- 1:29:47Speaker 1: but do they still draft Mac Jones? What would their
- 1:29:50Speaker 1: records have been? And is there a playoff run there? Okay,
- 1:29:53Speaker 1: so twelve and four to twelve and four and twelve, Yeah,
- 1:29:55Speaker 1: there's a lot of twelve and four, thirteen, four and thirty.
- 1:29:58Speaker 1: There's a lot to unpack there, because if he had
- 1:30:01Speaker 1: decided to stay for three more years, then something would
- 1:30:04Speaker 1: have happened to make up stay. So they gave him
- 1:30:06Speaker 1: the money or they got him the weapons or whatever.
- 1:30:10Speaker 1: So it's hard to say, but yeah, they'd be a
- 1:30:12Speaker 1: hell of a lot better than they were, There's no doubt. Yeah,
- 1:30:14Speaker 1: I'm just going off of what they had with him
- 1:30:17Speaker 1: playing quarterback. Yeah, but if there was no change to
- 1:30:21Speaker 1: contract or money or he would okay, but you have
- 1:30:23Speaker 1: to give him. You would have had to have given
- 1:30:25Speaker 1: him a contract to stay, right, because he wasn't. He
- 1:30:28Speaker 1: didn't have one, right, so obviously there would have been
- 1:30:30Speaker 1: a change in the contract. It would have gone from
- 1:30:32Speaker 1: nothing to something for a lot of money. Yeah, whatever,
- 1:30:35Speaker 1: But everything else is the same. Why I'm just saying,
- 1:30:39Speaker 1: I'm not assuming that they got better, but I'm just
- 1:30:42Speaker 1: saying they had the same players in him playing quarter
- 1:30:44Speaker 1: Why are you assuming that? Because I can't assume that
- 1:30:47Speaker 1: they got better, but I'm assuming that if you're going
- 1:30:49Speaker 1: to pay this guy to be your quarterback, you know
- 1:30:51Speaker 1: it's a limited number of years left. We gotta be
- 1:30:53Speaker 1: all in, we gotta like Okay, well then then I'm
- 1:30:56Speaker 1: gonna up my numbers. Then fourteen wins, okay, Yeah, I mean,
- 1:31:00Speaker 1: if they if they went out and got got loaded
- 1:31:03Speaker 1: on both sides of the ball for him than they
- 1:31:05Speaker 1: could have won more super Bowls. Yeah, that's unrealistic. Why
- 1:31:10Speaker 1: why didn't they do it? I don't know, but like
- 1:31:14Speaker 1: but that we spent two hundred something, but was kind
- 1:31:17Speaker 1: of my point they didn't keep him, but that we're
- 1:31:20Speaker 1: in fantasy world here. Yeah, so I my in my world,
- 1:31:24Speaker 1: I was just trying to answer the question it might
- 1:31:25Speaker 1: would have happened if yeah, and if he stayed, certain
- 1:31:29Speaker 1: things would have had to happen to keep him here. Yeah,
- 1:31:31Speaker 1: you know, I just think and the mindset is different.
- 1:31:35Speaker 1: If you're going to keep them, your mindset is different.
- 1:31:37Speaker 1: But the only like necessary change would have been signing him. Yeah.
- 1:31:43Speaker 1: Necessary right. But but in so doing and so making decision,
- 1:31:47Speaker 1: the decision we're gonna sign this guy. We're gonna give him,
- 1:31:51Speaker 1: you know, the money that he deserves as a starting
- 1:31:54Speaker 1: quarterback in the NFL at his stature, I think other
- 1:31:58Speaker 1: things happen as well, you know. Okay, so we're doing this,
- 1:32:01Speaker 1: let's go so instead of twelve and four, I'll go
- 1:32:03Speaker 1: fourteen in two and winning super Bowls. I got a
- 1:32:06Speaker 1: good question similar to this in the mail bag this week.
- 1:32:08Speaker 1: I'll take it, saying after twenty eighteen, you know, knowing
- 1:32:12Speaker 1: what you know, now, what would you have done different?
- 1:32:14Speaker 1: And I just said, what if you had just drafted
- 1:32:16Speaker 1: Deebo Samuel instead of to Kill Harry, and then you
- 1:32:19Speaker 1: drafted AJ Brown instead of Joan Williams, and like if
- 1:32:23Speaker 1: you drafted Nick Job instead of Show. I mean, it's
- 1:32:26Speaker 1: just crazy, like and usually I hate these games, but
- 1:32:28Speaker 1: I think it's just crazy in this instance where you
- 1:32:30Speaker 1: can literally swap the first and second round Patriots actual
- 1:32:33Speaker 1: picks out, you would really lose no production at all
- 1:32:37Speaker 1: from those two guys and you could easily slip two
- 1:32:39Speaker 1: of the most elite receivers in the game in right now,
- 1:32:42Speaker 1: I don't know, I just for me seeing in that context,
- 1:32:44Speaker 1: like what would have happened then if they you got
- 1:32:46Speaker 1: those two guys for him? That are like right, And
- 1:32:48Speaker 1: that's where I agree with Fred, like you, you could
- 1:32:50Speaker 1: definitely up the potential of winning. I was just trying
- 1:32:55Speaker 1: to answer the guy, Well, that guy was just saying
- 1:32:57Speaker 1: if Brady was here and everything else stay, which that
- 1:32:59Speaker 1: to me is the more realistic thing because they're gonna
- 1:33:03Speaker 1: do whatever they do. I think they still would have
- 1:33:05Speaker 1: won more games even with the twenty twenty team Brady,
- 1:33:10Speaker 1: Mike and duvall about Brady's greatest game. He thinks it
- 1:33:14Speaker 1: was the Seahawks Super Bowl. Um, he said, you know
- 1:33:18Speaker 1: that same team completely destroyed Peyton forty three to eight
- 1:33:21Speaker 1: in the Super Bowl the year before. That was the
- 1:33:23Speaker 1: best game I've ever seen with him at his best
- 1:33:26Speaker 1: against the best, so great best. Brady plays Neil. The
- 1:33:34Speaker 1: throw to Amundole in the back of the end zone
- 1:33:36Speaker 1: versus Jacksonville AFC Championship game was pretty sweet in my book.
- 1:33:39Speaker 1: That was a great catch though. Yeah, that was a
- 1:33:41Speaker 1: great catch. I mean that was a great throw too,
- 1:33:43Speaker 1: but it was a better catch. Um, playoff, Danny. He's
- 1:33:47Speaker 1: on a reality show right now. I just happened to
- 1:33:50Speaker 1: turn on some reality show that's like an intense almost
- 1:33:54Speaker 1: like a military training show, like where they teach you,
- 1:33:57Speaker 1: and he's I don't know, I walked in on something
- 1:33:58Speaker 1: and he had to like repel down a building. And
- 1:34:01Speaker 1: remember when he was like publicly posting them and his
- 1:34:03Speaker 1: girlfriend broke up because she was two online and put
- 1:34:07Speaker 1: the phone. And now he's on a reality show doing
- 1:34:10Speaker 1: these men. Yeah, chatters in Manchester. A couple more discussion
- 1:34:14Speaker 1: points for the Brady tribute show. How do the NFL
- 1:34:18Speaker 1: Hall of Fame Committee topped the way? Topped the way
- 1:34:23Speaker 1: they voted in Manning simply standing up and saying his
- 1:34:25Speaker 1: name rather than presenting a body of work. Oh and
- 1:34:28Speaker 1: do you reckon any attention seeking member abstains or votes
- 1:34:32Speaker 1: against just to be the one no bitter about the
- 1:34:35Speaker 1: flake gate, spygate or whatever. No, but that happens a lot. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:34:39Speaker 1: it happened for John Elway. The presenter get up and
- 1:34:42Speaker 1: said John Elway, period, that was it? Yeah, right, I
- 1:34:46Speaker 1: think that's I present John Elway. I don't even think
- 1:34:48Speaker 1: he should need a presenter. I should think they should
- 1:34:50Speaker 1: walk in. We're put in in Brady, right. Yeah. Now
- 1:34:55Speaker 1: I don't know because they don't make the voting public,
- 1:34:58Speaker 1: do they. It's just about this whoever gets in and
- 1:35:02Speaker 1: whoever doesn't. Right, individuals make their votes public. Yeah, it's like,
- 1:35:08Speaker 1: so you don't, so you won't know if it was unanimous,
- 1:35:10Speaker 1: you won't. Peter King will come out and say this
- 1:35:12Speaker 1: is how split he split his vote. Yeah, um, but
- 1:35:15Speaker 1: they won't like like the all the the all pro
- 1:35:18Speaker 1: voting is the the pf' just the the the ap
- 1:35:22Speaker 1: of the fifty writers and you can add them up.
- 1:35:25Speaker 1: You can say, like Patrick Mahomes got forty three votes,
- 1:35:28Speaker 1: he wasn't unanimous. And by the way, I'm gonna preempt this.
- 1:35:32Speaker 1: When you go into the Pro Football Hall of Fame,
- 1:35:34Speaker 1: you go in as an individual, not as a member
- 1:35:37Speaker 1: of any team. So I won't be mad if he
- 1:35:38Speaker 1: doesn't go in as a Patriot. Yeah, because you go
- 1:35:41Speaker 1: in as Tom Brady. Um. He also wants to know
- 1:35:45Speaker 1: might they rename you, might they rename a rebrand the
- 1:35:49Speaker 1: one hundred ninety nine pick as the Brady. I think
- 1:35:52Speaker 1: they should not have it one night, you know how,
- 1:35:53Speaker 1: Like you go into an elevator, there is no you
- 1:35:58Speaker 1: go from one ninety eight to two hundre. There is
- 1:36:00Speaker 1: no more one ninety nine retire at number twelve or
- 1:36:03Speaker 1: the whole league too. So I think it's disrespectful to
- 1:36:09Speaker 1: the one nine guys. No, the retiring the number for
- 1:36:13Speaker 1: the whole league, which I'm not sure. I'm not sure.
- 1:36:16Speaker 1: I'm not sure if that's a thing that that's been
- 1:36:19Speaker 1: serious or more tongue in cheek, But yes, it's disrespectful
- 1:36:22Speaker 1: to Jackie Robinson, which is why the number forty two
- 1:36:26Speaker 1: is retired in Major League base you can't do that
- 1:36:27Speaker 1: with with football anyway. But yeah, I'm not what you
- 1:36:31Speaker 1: could if you wanted to. But if Tom was like
- 1:36:33Speaker 1: some big like social leader, correct, yeah, like, although I
- 1:36:37Speaker 1: mean there's making Aaron Rodgers change his number, that would,
- 1:36:39Speaker 1: but every sport has has like the greatest player, right like,
- 1:36:44Speaker 1: there's the best guy in the league, and every sports
- 1:36:46Speaker 1: should we just read twenty three? No twenty three? Yeah, yeah, no,
- 1:36:50Speaker 1: it's it's you can't do that. Um. I agree with
- 1:36:53Speaker 1: your sentiments abusing this as an opportunity to reset the
- 1:36:56Speaker 1: parameters required for the Patriots number retirement. The bars been
- 1:37:00Speaker 1: massively raised. If they do sign him to a one
- 1:37:02Speaker 1: day contract, I hope Bill Sits still outs him on
- 1:37:06Speaker 1: the injury report for old times sake. That's funny. That's funny.
- 1:37:09Speaker 1: But it being in a season so it probably be
- 1:37:11Speaker 1: no injury report. But yeah, um. Actually, the next email
- 1:37:17Speaker 1: Joe from Ottawa, just wondering what you guys think about
- 1:37:20Speaker 1: the NFL retiring the number twelve all around? No, no, no,
- 1:37:23Speaker 1: what not? Why do you guys say no? I think
- 1:37:26Speaker 1: the Jackie Robinson thing. I mean that I hadn't even
- 1:37:28Speaker 1: thought of that. I mean, that makes a lot of sense.
- 1:37:30Speaker 1: But I just don't think that. Well, there are other
- 1:37:32Speaker 1: numbers that are retired across the board in leagues. Nothing, No,
- 1:37:36Speaker 1: And I know there was talk about doing that for
- 1:37:38Speaker 1: six six yeah for Bill Russ question, but I don't
- 1:37:41Speaker 1: think it's happened, right, Yeah, And I don't even think
- 1:37:43Speaker 1: they should do that. See I do, yeah, for a
- 1:37:46Speaker 1: similar reason why Jackie Robinson is in in uh in
- 1:37:50Speaker 1: baseball now. I think it's that stuff to me is
- 1:37:53Speaker 1: about way more than ability. That's that's about impact, legacy
- 1:37:59Speaker 1: and whatnot. That Tom Brady is the greatest player who's
- 1:38:01Speaker 1: ever played in the NFL. Right, it's not enough. It's
- 1:38:05Speaker 1: not enough to retire the number room for every team
- 1:38:09Speaker 1: when it's a number like twelve that's the most quintessential
- 1:38:11Speaker 1: quarterback number and the amount of legendary quarterbacks that have
- 1:38:14Speaker 1: worn the number twelve from each individual franchise, it just
- 1:38:17Speaker 1: gets too much. Sorry, Aaron Radger, and I need to
- 1:38:21Speaker 1: change that, ye Aaron Rodgers. Um, let's see Tom Brady.
- 1:38:28Speaker 1: This is from Diane. Tom Brady won't sign a one
- 1:38:31Speaker 1: day contract. Coming from a Buck season ticket holder, I
- 1:38:34Speaker 1: live outside of Tampa and am a Buccaneers STM. WE
- 1:38:39Speaker 1: became season ticket holders the day Tom Brady signed. I
- 1:38:42Speaker 1: was a huge Tom Brady and New England Patret fan
- 1:38:44Speaker 1: and would travel just to be able to see Tom play.
- 1:38:47Speaker 1: We wouldn't believe he was signing here. We couldn't believe
- 1:38:49Speaker 1: he was signing here. How could I luck be this good?
- 1:38:52Speaker 1: This will not be a popular comment, but I feel
- 1:38:54Speaker 1: Tom would think it was disrespectful to the Buccaneers to
- 1:38:58Speaker 1: sign a one day contract with the Page. He won
- 1:39:00Speaker 1: a Super Bowl here and was so embraced by the
- 1:39:03Speaker 1: organization and city. He was so enthusiastic to be here
- 1:39:06Speaker 1: his first two seasons, and when we visited practice it
- 1:39:09Speaker 1: was obvious. This season his weight loss and lack of
- 1:39:12Speaker 1: energy at practice was also obvious. Tom and Giselle were
- 1:39:16Speaker 1: building in Miami. Obviously that's part of the equation has changed.
- 1:39:20Speaker 1: But his children are here and he has embraced Florida.
- 1:39:23Speaker 1: He's not going to go back for ceremonial reasons why,
- 1:39:26Speaker 1: and he's not going to be in the New England
- 1:39:29Speaker 1: community for any length of time. I don't think. I
- 1:39:32Speaker 1: don't think he's into things just for the ceremony of it.
- 1:39:35Speaker 1: Is he I was a faithful listener of your show,
- 1:39:37Speaker 1: and there is nothing close to it here in Tampa.
- 1:39:39Speaker 1: For the Bucks. I've weaned off over the last year,
- 1:39:42Speaker 1: but hope you'd be talking Tom Brady today. Please know,
- 1:39:46Speaker 1: we freaked out the first few games we saw him
- 1:39:48Speaker 1: in Pewter and read two and now I cannot believe
- 1:39:51Speaker 1: I am saying I cannot imagine him in anything else. Wow. Wow,
- 1:39:55Speaker 1: that's good to hear from you, a fan in the
- 1:39:58Speaker 1: totally different perspective. And I and I and and to
- 1:40:01Speaker 1: her point, and it's a bad perspective, but I said
- 1:40:05Speaker 1: it when we were break for lunch. I felt like
- 1:40:07Speaker 1: the one year contract is a little bit of an
- 1:40:09Speaker 1: after you to the Bucks and like, all right, let's
- 1:40:10Speaker 1: just clear the palette, get them out of here. That's
- 1:40:11Speaker 1: not about them anymore, you know, Like I do feel like,
- 1:40:13Speaker 1: you know, I hear what she's saying in regards to that.
- 1:40:15Speaker 1: And he was here for twenty years, right, you know.
- 1:40:18Speaker 1: I almost wanted to say, well, he was really committed
- 1:40:21Speaker 1: to the Patriots for about the first eighteen years. Yeah,
- 1:40:24Speaker 1: he was here for twenty years. What was the way
- 1:40:27Speaker 1: she mentioned that was? That kind of struck me. You
- 1:40:30Speaker 1: haven't seen him yet. He has lost a lot of weight,
- 1:40:34Speaker 1: he's lost like fifteen or twenty pounds. Yeah, stress, Yes,
- 1:40:38Speaker 1: I just feel like he's it's been like since he
- 1:40:40Speaker 1: took that rookie photo where he's got like this big
- 1:40:42Speaker 1: round that was reported by It's like he's slowly just
- 1:40:45Speaker 1: like you look at the progression of pictures, he's been
- 1:40:47Speaker 1: thinning out over the last twenty three years now. But
- 1:40:49Speaker 1: there was like I think his boy there, Why can
- 1:40:52Speaker 1: I never remember name Alex no John Jeff Darlington. I
- 1:40:56Speaker 1: don't know why I keep forgetting that name. Jeff Darlington
- 1:40:58Speaker 1: reported that he uh suffered a significant weight loss. I
- 1:41:02Speaker 1: think he said fifteen pounds. Wow, which a guy like
- 1:41:04Speaker 1: that Canniford. That's not like me losing fifteen pounds throwing
- 1:41:07Speaker 1: a mound chair off the Queen manor because of stress,
- 1:41:10Speaker 1: if you think, or like I would think, yeah, because
- 1:41:14Speaker 1: I mean he's already doing everything eat eating wise, exercise wise,
- 1:41:17Speaker 1: like what else? Yeah? Um yeah, I mean, like listen,
- 1:41:22Speaker 1: I hear what Diane's saying. But you know, okay, you're welcome.
- 1:41:27Speaker 1: You know you had him for three years, you won
- 1:41:29Speaker 1: a super Bowl, but he's a patriot. I'm sorry. Twenty years,
- 1:41:32Speaker 1: six super Bowls, nine appearances. Come on, come on, speaking
- 1:41:38Speaker 1: of faux outrage, I'm not I'm not with ESPN or
- 1:41:46Speaker 1: NFL network has to deliberately like, oh, we have to
- 1:41:48Speaker 1: make sure it's fifty fifty in terms of the b roll.
- 1:41:51Speaker 1: No you don't, No, you don't. Oh I know it's
- 1:41:55Speaker 1: PFW is represented every time I'm here for that. Pops
- 1:41:58Speaker 1: up a lot dynasty pat an agawam. How great would
- 1:42:01Speaker 1: it be if they honored Brady at halftime of the
- 1:42:03Speaker 1: Germany game? Oh? God, no, not good, Bob? Yeah, not great.
- 1:42:09Speaker 1: Germans would be like what not good Bob? Now do
- 1:42:13Speaker 1: I would I love Tom to go to Germany with
- 1:42:15Speaker 1: us and do it? Yes? See, how if you're one
- 1:42:19Speaker 1: day ceremonial contract include something like that? Oh that's worth it.
- 1:42:24Speaker 1: Get him on PU the pub. How the fact that
- 1:42:27Speaker 1: he just went to Germany last year to plays probably
- 1:42:31Speaker 1: not likely to happen. Maybe there's something there Fred Pu pub.
- 1:42:34Speaker 1: You know Pu from the pub. I'm just saying, Pu Pu.
- 1:42:36Speaker 1: B Okay, keep working on file file that one away,
- 1:42:41Speaker 1: keep work shopping that. Let's just stick with my Tom Brady, Knight,
- 1:42:45Speaker 1: Katina and Houston my retirement planned. She says, I'd like
- 1:42:48Speaker 1: to thank the Pu crew for providing me with so
- 1:42:50Speaker 1: many valuable life lessons that go be on football. This
- 1:42:53Speaker 1: ought to be good. I got some peanut butter on
- 1:42:55Speaker 1: my fingers yesterday while making my kids a sandwich, and
- 1:42:57Speaker 1: I happen to hate peanut butter, so this is my
- 1:43:00Speaker 1: worst nightmare. My sons had already run off, so I
- 1:43:02Speaker 1: couldn't ask them to get me a napkin. I was
- 1:43:04Speaker 1: also super lazy and didn't want to get up from
- 1:43:06Speaker 1: my stool or touch anything, so I looked around trying
- 1:43:08Speaker 1: to figure out the easiest way to deal with this
- 1:43:11Speaker 1: without moving. I saw my new puppy hanging out by
- 1:43:14Speaker 1: my feet. I put my hand down and he predictably
- 1:43:18Speaker 1: prediculably picked it off. Eventually, when I stood up, I
- 1:43:21Speaker 1: washed my hands. I figured if it's good enough for
- 1:43:23Speaker 1: Boss Me and Cursion. I was wondering where that was going.
- 1:43:27Speaker 1: I know it was going somewhere. I like that. I
- 1:43:28Speaker 1: just didn't ask, since this is my first dog. I
- 1:43:31Speaker 1: don't think I would have ever thought to do this
- 1:43:33Speaker 1: before the Wings explanation. The podcast is invaluable. I hope
- 1:43:37Speaker 1: mister Kraft is well aware of that value of the podcast.
- 1:43:40Speaker 1: It's in value you please write to mister Craft and
- 1:43:42Speaker 1: tell him so. Right, dogs are good that way, absolutely
- 1:43:46Speaker 1: multi multi task, multi purpose. Yeah, I mean it's a
- 1:43:50Speaker 1: win win. The dog gets it and win and you
- 1:43:54Speaker 1: and I mean you get some slab on you. But yeah,
- 1:43:56Speaker 1: eventually you take a shower the next day or whatever,
- 1:43:59Speaker 1: you know, spill something on the floor called the dog
- 1:44:02Speaker 1: in I'm I'm in a battle for my life right
- 1:44:04Speaker 1: now because my family wants a dog bad and there's
- 1:44:07Speaker 1: one holdout it's me, and I'm running out because you
- 1:44:10Speaker 1: think you're gonna want that's gonna have to take care
- 1:44:12Speaker 1: of it, right, I mean a little bit, but it's
- 1:44:14Speaker 1: more just like I don't need a whole nother thing
- 1:44:16Speaker 1: in my life. But if you trust that it would
- 1:44:18Speaker 1: be a family obligation to take care, then do it.
- 1:44:21Speaker 1: If you don't trust, I'm done it. Do you have
- 1:44:25Speaker 1: any chance whatsoever of winning? Probably not, because in my
- 1:44:28Speaker 1: house I would have no show to run out the clock.
- 1:44:30Speaker 1: So then refocus your thing instead of not getting it,
- 1:44:33Speaker 1: to focus getting the dog you want. Yeah, the type
- 1:44:36Speaker 1: of dog you want. I think I think I might
- 1:44:38Speaker 1: be a little allergic too, So that's that's part of it.
- 1:44:41Speaker 1: It's like a baby, that's brilliant. I don't want to
- 1:44:46Speaker 1: be on prescription drugs. No, just spend enough time. You
- 1:44:49Speaker 1: deal with it for like two weeks, and then you
- 1:44:52Speaker 1: just get used to them. I'm I'm telling me my
- 1:44:54Speaker 1: whole life about my allergies, and I'm like, I never
- 1:44:56Speaker 1: want like I not just deal with it like I
- 1:44:59Speaker 1: deal with it. I walk in a house with a
- 1:45:00Speaker 1: log and I'm like, you know, I don't know. It's
- 1:45:04Speaker 1: my story, it's my battle. Take a serre tech. So
- 1:45:06Speaker 1: what do you do um in terms of like if
- 1:45:09Speaker 1: if you and Nikki are going out for how long? Like?
- 1:45:13Speaker 1: But that that's basically my question because that's my reservation
- 1:45:16Speaker 1: about a dog. It's not necessary. I don't I wouldn't
- 1:45:18Speaker 1: mind taking my dog for a walk. I wouldn't mind,
- 1:45:22Speaker 1: you know, cleaning up. I mean, whatever it is, what
- 1:45:24Speaker 1: it is, I can't handle. Like I tell you all
- 1:45:27Speaker 1: the time, my brother I do a lot. I socialize
- 1:45:29Speaker 1: with my brother in law and sister in law all
- 1:45:31Speaker 1: the time. They live right around the corner from us.
- 1:45:33Speaker 1: The amount of times they cut night short. It's because
- 1:45:36Speaker 1: the stupid dog drives me absolutely insane. Yeah, no, it's
- 1:45:40Speaker 1: a good point. You know, when we both work like
- 1:45:42Speaker 1: we have a dog walker that comes and takes him
- 1:45:44Speaker 1: out during the day because you don't want to leave
- 1:45:47Speaker 1: him at home. Yeah right, when when you when you
- 1:45:50Speaker 1: if you go on a vacation, you got to board him.
- 1:45:52Speaker 1: You got to send him to a boarding I hate that.
- 1:45:54Speaker 1: My sister's a dog nanny. She's going to vet school
- 1:45:57Speaker 1: right now. But for people that don't want to board
- 1:45:59Speaker 1: their dog, she'll go stay at your loss. I got
- 1:46:02Speaker 1: her card if you stick. That was like, that's the
- 1:46:07Speaker 1: millennial job. I'm going on vacation. I'm going on vacation
- 1:46:10Speaker 1: in a couple of weeks, you know, and I don't
- 1:46:12Speaker 1: want to board them. So there's this rover dot com
- 1:46:15Speaker 1: you can go on and you can find and we
- 1:46:17Speaker 1: found this guy that he's gonna come and he's gonna
- 1:46:20Speaker 1: babysit the dog for a week. Honestly, I want Danielle
- 1:46:23Speaker 1: to drop out of vet school. I think the dog
- 1:46:24Speaker 1: nannying is more lucrative for her. I'm not kidding. I
- 1:46:27Speaker 1: made her a little logo and a Facebook page and
- 1:46:30Speaker 1: she hasn't looked back since. But keep doing the same thing,
- 1:46:32Speaker 1: and then if she's an actual vet and she can
- 1:46:35Speaker 1: actually take care of these doctor. These dogs. Think that's
- 1:46:39Speaker 1: like but pause point extrait. It does put a you know,
- 1:46:43Speaker 1: a hamper on things. Yeah, now I've never had I've
- 1:46:46Speaker 1: never had a dog. I don't want to hamper. I don't.
- 1:46:50Speaker 1: I don't want a hamper either. I can't imagine growing
- 1:46:52Speaker 1: up without a dog. I've never had a dog, so
- 1:46:55Speaker 1: I can't say that I wouldn't, you know, I would
- 1:46:58Speaker 1: be adversely affect it. I don't generally like dogs, but
- 1:47:03Speaker 1: Paul would be the person doesn't want the dog, hates
- 1:47:06Speaker 1: the dog. But this dog and this is yes, that's stupid,
- 1:47:15Speaker 1: stupid cat. Do see daddy over there? Give him much,
- 1:47:18Speaker 1: give him the love? Is like waul to No, Paul,
- 1:47:24Speaker 1: I can see cats, so you know, think you like
- 1:47:26Speaker 1: the cats? Like right? They don't. It's like it's like
- 1:47:28Speaker 1: it's like the picients. It's like they don't make you
- 1:47:30Speaker 1: work for their affection. Vicious and selfish hats. Not my cat. Yeah,
- 1:47:35Speaker 1: well but they're good. I love cats too. They can't
- 1:47:38Speaker 1: be trusted though, Why because he'll be hanging out and
- 1:47:42Speaker 1: playing with it and it'll be perfectly fine and it
- 1:47:45Speaker 1: wasn't overware. Basically, if my wallet, no, the cat will
- 1:47:50Speaker 1: just swipe at you randomly. You'll just be hanging out
- 1:47:52Speaker 1: thinking you're having a good calm time, and all of
- 1:47:54Speaker 1: a sudden, scratches it wants you. See, that's the only
- 1:47:57Speaker 1: when Will because Will like uses as a whip bone,
- 1:48:01Speaker 1: and all of a sudden She'll be planning for like
- 1:48:03Speaker 1: twenty minutes, and all of a sudden you Will will
- 1:48:05Speaker 1: come up with a gash on his neck. What happened?
- 1:48:08Speaker 1: Cat Like he torches the cat's but the cat loves him,
- 1:48:13Speaker 1: sleeps in Will's bed every night. But I don't trust dogs,
- 1:48:16Speaker 1: like like to possible. I didn't grow up with dogs,
- 1:48:18Speaker 1: so like I just don't have like this like manate
- 1:48:20Speaker 1: immediate comfortability with a dog. Like every dog, I'm like,
- 1:48:23Speaker 1: he might buy me in the face at any second,
- 1:48:24Speaker 1: Like that's my Like, wasn't me. It was my sister
- 1:48:28Speaker 1: when she was little gut bit in the face by
- 1:48:29Speaker 1: a dog. So like that to me is getting bit
- 1:48:31Speaker 1: in the face. I have no use for Yeah, um,
- 1:48:36Speaker 1: Kevin and Dublin spitballing here, But what about waiting for
- 1:48:39Speaker 1: Belichick's retirement to have a special induction of Brady, Bill
- 1:48:42Speaker 1: and Craft In a series of inductions into the Patriots all, No,
- 1:48:46Speaker 1: you can have one for Bill too. Yeah, not like
- 1:48:49Speaker 1: I don't. They each deserve their own thing, right, I
- 1:48:51Speaker 1: don't want the sharing of the spotlight. Yeah, they deserve
- 1:48:56Speaker 1: is going to go first, thanktmore the other more nicely.
- 1:49:01Speaker 1: Now you want to talk about insufferable my show? Yeah,
- 1:49:05Speaker 1: breaking it down on the Felger and mass would be
- 1:49:10Speaker 1: all over that. Wait, I have a question, what what
- 1:49:14Speaker 1: what was I heard that I came into Felger, Yes,
- 1:49:16Speaker 1: and I heard them laughing about I guess Diana Rasini
- 1:49:19Speaker 1: he had like a reaction to Brady's video, saying it
- 1:49:21Speaker 1: was like one of the most emotional things she'd ever seen.
- 1:49:23Speaker 1: I don't know, Tony was like losing his mind about.
- 1:49:25Speaker 1: I didn't see it, but that was emotional, I don't
- 1:49:27Speaker 1: I know. That's what my That's why I think I
- 1:49:29Speaker 1: thought it was perfect by the way I thought it was. Yeah,
- 1:49:31Speaker 1: I don't know. I did. Nobody saw what her reaction was.
- 1:49:34Speaker 1: I guess it was a little over this. Yeah, I
- 1:49:35Speaker 1: thought it was completely appropriate. Yes, give what Yeah, it
- 1:49:39Speaker 1: was about as close to perfect did you can did?
- 1:49:42Speaker 1: Low low budget just sort emotion he already exactly. I
- 1:49:48Speaker 1: don't want to be wrong about that police check. I
- 1:49:50Speaker 1: came in and they were talking about and Mas was
- 1:49:51Speaker 1: like ready to explode. I guess talking about it. I mean,
- 1:49:53Speaker 1: it doesn't take much. You want to make fun of
- 1:49:56Speaker 1: me with my snart, I know, well, you know you
- 1:49:58Speaker 1: could tell like Felger could see. And it happens time
- 1:50:00Speaker 1: on our show too, where you see a guy has
- 1:50:01Speaker 1: a look on his face and he's got something to
- 1:50:03Speaker 1: say and he's champion at the champion at the bit
- 1:50:05Speaker 1: And that was like Felg, I can see what I'm asking,
- 1:50:08Speaker 1: your thoughts, your thoughts masking. They'll let him unload Alan
- 1:50:11Speaker 1: or Aj in the Bay Area, but he's from Providence.
- 1:50:14Speaker 1: I also have a tough one last night kind of
- 1:50:16Speaker 1: gratitude for the two decades of dominance and all the titles.
- 1:50:19Speaker 1: Our experience as local fans was unreal, and Brady was
- 1:50:21Speaker 1: probably the most integral part of that success. For me
- 1:50:24Speaker 1: as a fan, the ceremonial contract would mean a lot.
- 1:50:27Speaker 1: I understand he and the organization had their differences, and
- 1:50:29Speaker 1: nobody knows just how sour the situation may have become.
- 1:50:32Speaker 1: I've learned to accept that his career ended with a
- 1:50:35Speaker 1: different team, but a ceremonial contract and officially ending his
- 1:50:38Speaker 1: career as a Patriot would be a statement that he
- 1:50:40Speaker 1: viewed himself more as a former Patriot than a former Buck.
- 1:50:43Speaker 1: Any refusal to acknowledge that would leave me without the
- 1:50:46Speaker 1: proper closure, never knowing for sure that Brady still identifies
- 1:50:50Speaker 1: with the team that I've been rooting for all my
- 1:50:52Speaker 1: life and I still do. It would really it would
- 1:50:55Speaker 1: reassure me that a bridge was not permanently burned right now,
- 1:50:59Speaker 1: I don't know that that last point. Do you know that, Fred,
- 1:51:05Speaker 1: do you think he thinks of himself as a former
- 1:51:07Speaker 1: Patriot or a former buck? Um? I hope more more
- 1:51:11Speaker 1: than a former Buck. I hope he does. I don't
- 1:51:14Speaker 1: know that. I don't know. I don't know too, Alex.
- 1:51:18Speaker 1: I think he has to think of himself. I don't
- 1:51:20Speaker 1: even think there's a question. Yeah, now, he's a former
- 1:51:24Speaker 1: Patriot first and foremost. I think I don't spend any
- 1:51:27Speaker 1: time wondering if he thinks that. I don't now. Maybe
- 1:51:31Speaker 1: I'm wrong, Maybe you guys need this. I don't know.
- 1:51:33Speaker 1: I don't Ten fifteen years down the road, what are
- 1:51:36Speaker 1: people gonna identify him with. I don't think anybody identifies
- 1:51:39Speaker 1: him with the Bucks. Now, the Bucks were like a
- 1:51:41Speaker 1: two second footnote. He didn't even want to stay. He
- 1:51:44Speaker 1: wanted to go to Miami so exactly, which is why
- 1:51:46Speaker 1: I think another good point of that, well, no, I
- 1:51:51Speaker 1: was just gonna say to her point, so very well written,
- 1:51:54Speaker 1: and she recognized it. Two years he was all in.
- 1:51:58Speaker 1: You can't make an argument that he was in this
- 1:51:59Speaker 1: year when he was getting caught tampering with Miami. And
- 1:52:03Speaker 1: I think that's part of it too, with the whole
- 1:52:06Speaker 1: timing of his announcement yesterday, because you know, the whole
- 1:52:10Speaker 1: thing I said at the beginning of the show that
- 1:52:12Speaker 1: they recommitted to Ta Sean Payton's out. They can't go
- 1:52:15Speaker 1: back to Miami because that's too shady. That's out. I'm out. Yeah.
- 1:52:21Speaker 1: You know, let's see when what Amir wants to compare
- 1:52:27Speaker 1: Brady to Mahomes. Do we want to read that email?
- 1:52:30Speaker 1: I don't know. I mean, I think we'd all agree
- 1:52:32Speaker 1: that Brady's better than Mahomes. I mean, right now, he
- 1:52:35Speaker 1: says he thinks Mahomes is great, but he had a
- 1:52:39Speaker 1: discussion with a friend of mine regarding who's better. My
- 1:52:41Speaker 1: main point is that I've seen Mahomes lose big games
- 1:52:43Speaker 1: for the Chiefs. Not only that the team lost, but
- 1:52:45Speaker 1: the loss was directly related to his level of performance
- 1:52:48Speaker 1: the Tampa super Bowl in last year's HC Championship game
- 1:52:52Speaker 1: for Cincinnati. I simply don't recall a big game where
- 1:52:55Speaker 1: Brady disappeared. You always knew he had a chance to win,
- 1:52:57Speaker 1: and you never left the game saying Brady lost us
- 1:53:00Speaker 1: the game. Oh well, if that's the criteria, then I've
- 1:53:03Speaker 1: never seen Mahomes not show up. I'm sorry. Losing an
- 1:53:07Speaker 1: overtime in the ABC Championship game to the Bengals is
- 1:53:10Speaker 1: not a no show. Yeah he didn't play well, Yeah
- 1:53:13Speaker 1: I don't. He didn't play well in the Cincinnati game
- 1:53:15Speaker 1: last year, Absolutely not, But he didn't. But it's the
- 1:53:17Speaker 1: same thing we talked about with Brady, where even when
- 1:53:18Speaker 1: he had some rough patches, like you knew it was
- 1:53:21Speaker 1: probably going down. I'll give you losses that he didn't
- 1:53:23Speaker 1: show up in, like the Super Bowl against the Giants
- 1:53:25Speaker 1: for the perfect season. Now, you could tell me all
- 1:53:27Speaker 1: you want about the line just let down that day.
- 1:53:30Speaker 1: They scored fourteen points. They average forty points a game.
- 1:53:33Speaker 1: He scored fourteen in the Super Bowl, but he did
- 1:53:36Speaker 1: score that touchdown to go ahead fourteen ten, It's like, okay,
- 1:53:39Speaker 1: right there, you know, and then yeah, just just like
- 1:53:43Speaker 1: the Chiefs scored enough points to get into overtime in
- 1:53:45Speaker 1: a game that Mahomes played like crapping against Cincinnati, I lost,
- 1:53:48Speaker 1: all right, No, I just think that criteria is still like,
- 1:53:53Speaker 1: I don't think the Chiefs have lost the playoff times
- 1:53:55Speaker 1: quote unquote because of Mahomes. Yeah, when he's not great,
- 1:53:58Speaker 1: they've lost. Um, let's see, he'd also like ten and
- 1:54:03Speaker 1: three in the playoffs. Anthony writes in I heard this
- 1:54:06Speaker 1: on the radio this morning, and you know, it's one
- 1:54:08Speaker 1: of those times like I just I wish I could
- 1:54:11Speaker 1: settle set them straight. But they said, what if Bob
- 1:54:14Speaker 1: Kraft decided to rename the stadium Tom Brady Stadium. It's
- 1:54:17Speaker 1: not like he needs the money for the naming rights
- 1:54:19Speaker 1: from Jillette. An NFL stadium basically prints money. An NFL
- 1:54:22Speaker 1: team basically prints money. Take the hit, mister Kraft, and
- 1:54:25Speaker 1: do it. So here's the thing, I get it right,
- 1:54:28Speaker 1: I don't. But when you have naming rights for your stadium,
- 1:54:33Speaker 1: that that revenue gets shared with the other teams. And
- 1:54:37Speaker 1: like for a long time, Mike Brown from the Bengals.
- 1:54:40Speaker 1: Uh you know, Uh, I don't know which one which.
- 1:54:43Speaker 1: No bills the bill, No, Ralph Wilson Stadium. No, No.
- 1:54:47Speaker 1: But yeah, when when they don't, when they don't get
- 1:54:50Speaker 1: the naming rights, other owners criticize them because they're not
- 1:54:53Speaker 1: contributing to the pool and so, like they would never
- 1:54:57Speaker 1: do that because of that. It's not that they need
- 1:54:59Speaker 1: the money, it's that if you don't name your stadium,
- 1:55:02Speaker 1: you're taking away from all the other teams as well.
- 1:55:04Speaker 1: And that's big money too, isn't it. Those naming Oh yeah,
- 1:55:06Speaker 1: it's like ten million a year. Yeah. I mean the
- 1:55:09Speaker 1: Staple Center was willing to rename to a company that's
- 1:55:12Speaker 1: now I think bankrupt, just because they had they dropped
- 1:55:15Speaker 1: the most money on them. That happens a lot. Actually, yeah,
- 1:55:17Speaker 1: so the fleet, so you know, happened Kraft American Airlines.
- 1:55:21Speaker 1: You know, Robert Kraft could be magnanimous and do Tom
- 1:55:23Speaker 1: Brady Stadium, but the unner owners would be saying, hey, wait,
- 1:55:26Speaker 1: you're taking money out of our pocket. The Bill's got
- 1:55:28Speaker 1: a lot of criticism for that. Freddy, you nailed that. Yeah,
- 1:55:30Speaker 1: and the Browns did too. For a long time, it
- 1:55:33Speaker 1: was Brown stadium, and they would, oh, we'll never sell
- 1:55:35Speaker 1: the naming rights. Well, you know, not only do you.
- 1:55:38Speaker 1: I don't want to get into it. I don't need
- 1:55:40Speaker 1: because fans don't like to talk about and shouldn't like
- 1:55:44Speaker 1: all the money behind them. Who cares. And I'm not
- 1:55:46Speaker 1: a big fan of those things. I mean, I know
- 1:55:48Speaker 1: that that's kind of a big trend in basketball, like
- 1:55:50Speaker 1: you name the court after the legendary coach still inside
- 1:55:53Speaker 1: the building, Chord inside Cameron into a stadium. I'm not
- 1:55:57Speaker 1: a big fan. Um Joel says, just as a point
- 1:56:01Speaker 1: of argument, the NHL. NHL retired ninety nine, and he
- 1:56:06Speaker 1: wasn't symbolic the way Jackie Robinson was. Did they did
- 1:56:09Speaker 1: they retire ninety nine? I know they put him into
- 1:56:11Speaker 1: the Hall of Fame. That's dumb. Yeah, I don't say
- 1:56:14Speaker 1: I didn't know it, but but I think he's right
- 1:56:16Speaker 1: now that he brings it up. I think we've talked
- 1:56:18Speaker 1: about it in the past, and um, and I didn't
- 1:56:21Speaker 1: remember it. I think he's right. I think it's dumb.
- 1:56:23Speaker 1: It's also ninety nine. No one else is wearing it anyway.
- 1:56:26Speaker 1: But it's not like like Alex said twelves An iconic
- 1:56:29Speaker 1: number in the NFL. You know, he was the greatest,
- 1:56:31Speaker 1: but before him, there were another you know, Bobby Holler,
- 1:56:35Speaker 1: whoever you want to consider was the greatest. Yeah. Um,
- 1:56:40Speaker 1: Deuce finally got interested to he liked he really just
- 1:56:44Speaker 1: say this though, they really just talk about legendary players
- 1:56:46Speaker 1: are not mentioned. Did they do this in basketball too?
- 1:56:48Speaker 1: I long for the days when it was like hockey
- 1:56:50Speaker 1: numbers were just normal, like Charlie mcifoy is seventy four,
- 1:56:53Speaker 1: like Martians sixty three, McAvoy seventy three. Nebruskis seventy four. Sorry,
- 1:56:58Speaker 1: that's why I want sixteen. I want n nine, you know,
- 1:57:03Speaker 1: like I don't know. I just all these my day
- 1:57:05Speaker 1: agos were one or thirty thirty one. That's it, I know,
- 1:57:09Speaker 1: all right, listen, I gotta get going the meeting today. Yeah,
- 1:57:12Speaker 1: so that's gonna be it for this edition of Patriots Unfiltered.
- 1:57:15Speaker 1: Everybody have a good weekend. We didn't go over our
- 1:57:17Speaker 1: picks last week because there's no game this week. But
- 1:57:21Speaker 1: who won? Just by the way, I can tell you that,
- 1:57:24Speaker 1: actually I think I was one of them. I believe
- 1:57:26Speaker 1: fred did win. Yes, Freddie was two and oh both ways,
- 1:57:29Speaker 1: and the rest of us were one in one perfect week. Yes,
- 1:57:31Speaker 1: you were perfect. It's the playoffs, perfect in your perfection. Yeah,
- 1:57:34Speaker 1: Bengals didn't, alright, but we will do picks next week.
- 1:57:38Speaker 1: Bengositting do your dirty as referee did as we get
- 1:57:41Speaker 1: more information in from the sharps. Oh, by the way,
- 1:57:44Speaker 1: um U Kansas City did come out as two and
- 1:57:47Speaker 1: a half point favorites in the line. They opened as
- 1:57:49Speaker 1: the favorite. Yeah, and then now it's two and a
- 1:57:51Speaker 1: half for the other side. So a lot of Philly
- 1:57:54Speaker 1: money coming in. It's coming in, a lot of Philly money.
- 1:57:56Speaker 1: All right. We'll talk to you next week. Thank you
