- 0:01Hey everybody, welcome back to the Elon Musk podcast.
- 0:05This is a show where we discuss. The critical.
- 0:07Crossroads the shape. SpaceX.
- 0:09Tesla X, The Boring Company, and Neuralink and I'm your host Will
- 0:15Walden. If you want uninterrupted
- 0:17episodes of the Elon Musk podcast, please go to

- 0:25There's a. Link in the show notes.
- 0:26So Tesla is intensifying its efforts in artificial
- 0:30intelligence by planning a new $500 million Dojo supercomputer
- 0:35at its Gigafactory in Buffalo, NY.
- 0:38Now, Tesla's broader ambitions here in the AI space show that
- 0:42it's moving beyond its core electric vehicle business, and
- 0:46the Dojo supercomputer is key for AI model training,
- 0:49showcasing the crucial role of computing power in AI
- 0:53advancements. Now the project to build a
- 0:56second Dojo computer is not only a significant step for Tesla,
- 0:59but also benefits its suppliers, notably NVIDIA and Taiwan
- 1:03Superconductor Manufacturing Company, or TSMC.
- 1:07Now VIDIA, which provided the GP US for Tesla's initial Dojo
- 1:11computer, is poised to benefit from the sales of thousands more
- 1:15GP US for the new installation, representing A considerable
- 1:19portion of the project's total cost and Nvidia's involvement in
- 1:23the Dojo project, It's expected to have a notable impact on its
- 1:26financials if the $500 million investment in GPU's.
- 1:30Were to occur in a single quarter.
- 1:32Would constitute about 3% of Invidia's revenue based on their
- 1:36third quarter fiscal 2024 earnings.
- 1:39Now this relationship underscores the symbiotic
- 1:42dynamic between Tesla's AI initiatives and Invidia's growth
- 1:46in the GPU market. Let's move on to TSMC, which the
- 1:51world's foremost computer chip manufacturer also stands to gain
- 1:55from Tesla's expansion into AI computing.
- 1:58TSMC provides chips for both NVIDIA GPUs and also Tesla's
- 2:02vehicles. Benefiting from the heightened
- 2:04demand for AI capabilities, the company anticipates its AI chip
- 2:08revenue to surge with projections of a 50% compound
- 2:13annual growth rate. Tesla's plans for further Dojo
- 2:17supercomputers, including Dojo 1.5, Dojo 2, and possibly Dojo 3
- 2:22or Dojo 4, show that they're continuously working for high
- 2:28performance computing in AI. Ongoing demand is crucial for
- 2:32both NVIDIA and TSMC, ensuring a steady flow of business from
- 2:35Tesla and potentially other tech firms investing in AI.
- 2:39Now, the importance of suppliers like NVIDIA and TSMC in the AI
- 2:43and computing ecosystem is increasingly evident.
- 2:46Their contributions to building critical components for
- 2:48supercomputers like Tesla's Dojo, show that there's an
- 2:51interconnected nature of the tech industry and the importance
- 2:55of strong supply networks for technological progress.
- 2:58Now, recent comments from Elon Musk, Tesla CEO, regarding the
- 3:02Dojo supercomputer have led to speculation about the project's
- 3:05progress and Musk's confidence in its success.
- 3:08And despite previously high expectations, Musk's current
- 3:12statement suggests possible challenges or even reassessments
- 3:16within the project itself. You know, Musk's somewhat
- 3:19confusing remarks on the Dojo project during an investor
- 3:22meeting have raised questions about Tesla's achievements in
- 3:25developing this supercomputer. These comments contrast with
- 3:29Musk's early enthusiastic narratives, hinting at potential
- 3:32obstacles or shifts in the project's trajectory.
- 3:37Now, Musk's approach to discussing Tesla's projects,
- 3:40including Dojo, show that he has a history of bold visions,
- 3:45excitement, sometimes in advance of concrete results.
- 3:49This strategy has kept Tesla in the spotlight, of course, even
- 3:52as some initiatives face prolonged development and also
- 3:56unforeseen challenges like the $25,000 low budget Tesla
- 4:01vehicle. Now, the discussion around
- 4:04Tesla's Dojo and Musk's recent statements show that there's
- 4:07been past instances where Musk used hype to garner interest
- 4:12even when projects were in very early stages, like Pre, Pre,
- 4:15Pre, Alpha. And this tactic has been
- 4:18effective in maintaining interest in Tesla's innovations
- 4:21and blowing up the stock, despite the complexities of
- 4:24bringing ambitious projects to fruition.
- 4:27Also, Tesla's stock performance has been influenced by various
- 4:30factors, including Musk's public actions and ambitious projects
- 4:33like Dojo. And despite these setbacks,
- 4:36there's still investor optimism about Tesla's potential impact
- 4:39on AI and autonomous driving has seen in market reactions to Dojo
- 4:43related news. Now, the evolving nature around
- 4:46Tesla's Dojo project, from groundbreaking supercomputer to
- 4:49current uncertainties, exemplifies the challenges and
- 4:52complexities of technological innovation and also building an
- 4:57AI model with thousands of GPUs. Now, Tesla invests millions of
- 5:03dollars in AI and supercomputing, and it not only
- 5:06impacts its business, but also shows that there's going to be a
- 5:10relevant AI increase across all industries.
- 5:13High performance computing is essential for advanced AI
- 5:16applications, and it shows that technology is shifting towards
- 5:20artificial intelligence for everything.
- 5:24For NVIDIA and TSMC, Tesla's Dojo project is indicative of
- 5:28larger industry trends where demand for AI and machine
- 5:31learning drives the need for specialized hardware and chip
- 5:33manufacturing capabilities. As Tesla pushes forward with its
- 5:37AI and supercomputing efforts, the collaboration with key
- 5:40partners like NVIDIA and TSMC will be critical.
- 5:44Now, their expertise in GPU's and chip manufacturing
- 5:47respectively, plays a vital role in realizing complex projects
- 5:50like the Dojo supercomputer in Buffalo, NY and Tesla's
- 5:56expansion into AI. More so than what they've
- 5:58already done with their vehicles in the development of Dojo
- 6:02supercomputers show that Tesla and Elon can work well with
- 6:08other companies, other suppliers to get the job done.
- 6:12And it's an unpredictable nature of cutting edge technology that
- 6:16keeps Dojo in check. There is complexities and
- 6:21uncertainties that accompany the forefront of the tech innovation
- 6:25and the tech industry. Hey, thank you so much for
