- Lucas: Hey, Luna, welcome back to Learn Spanish with Fexingo. Luna: Hey, Lucas! So glad to be here. I've been practicing from our last episode, and I actually used those help phrases at the grocery store. Lucas: That's awesome! See, it's working. Today we're going to tackle something a lot of travelers need: catching a bus in Spanish. Luna: Oh, I definitely need that. I once got on the wrong bus because I couldn't ask when it left. Lucas: Exactly. So we're going to learn how to ask about bus departure times and how long the ride takes. Lucas: First phrase: '¿A qué hora sale el autobús?' That means 'At what time does the bus leave?' Luna: '¿A qué hora sale el autobús?' Lucas: Perfect. Now imagine the answer: 'El autobús sale a las ocho.' — 'The bus leaves at eight.' Luna: El autobús sale a las ocho. Lucas: Great. So let's put them together. I'll ask, you answer. '¿A qué hora sale el autobús?' Luna: El autobús sale a las ocho. Lucas: Yes! Now, what if you want to know how long the trip takes? Ask: '¿Cuánto tiempo tarda?' Luna: '¿Cuánto tiempo tarda?' Lucas: And the driver might say: 'Tarda veinte minutos.' — 'It takes twenty minutes.' Luna: Tarda veinte minutos. Lucas: Luna, imagine you're at a bus stop and you can't find it. You could ask: '¿Dónde está la parada?' — 'Where is the bus stop?' Luna: '¿Dónde está la parada?' Lucas: And someone points and says: 'La parada está allí.' — 'The stop is over there.' Luna: La parada está allí. Lucas: Great. Now let's do a little roleplay. I'll be the bus driver, you be the passenger. Luna: Okay, I'm ready. Lucas: ¿A qué hora sale el autobús? Luna: El autobús sale a las ocho. Lucas: ¿Cuánto tiempo tarda? Luna: Tarda veinte minutos. Lucas: ¿Dónde está la parada? Luna: La parada está allí. Lucas: Perfect! You did great. So let's review all six phrases together. Lucas: First: '¿A qué hora sale el autobús?' Luna: '¿A qué hora sale el autobús?' Lucas: Second: 'El autobús sale a las ocho.' Luna: El autobús sale a las ocho. Lucas: Third: '¿Cuánto tiempo tarda?' Luna: '¿Cuánto tiempo tarda?' Lucas: Fourth: 'Tarda veinte minutos.' Luna: Tarda veinte minutos. Lucas: Fifth: '¿Dónde está la parada?' Luna: '¿Dónde está la parada?' Lucas: Sixth: 'La parada está allí.' Luna: La parada está allí. Lucas: You know, it's amazing how much you've learned. You ask a local: '¿A qué hora sale el autobús?' Luna: And they say: 'El autobús sale a las nueve.' Lucas: Then you ask: '¿Cuánto tiempo tarda?' Luna: They reply: 'Tarda treinta minutos.' Lucas: But you want to make sure you're at the right spot, so you ask: '¿Dónde está la parada?' Luna: And they point: 'La parada está allí.' Lucas: Excellent! You just navigated a whole bus conversation in Spanish. Luna: That feels so empowering. I can't wait to use this on my next trip. Lucas: That's the spirit. Keep practicing these phrases, and next time you're at a bus stop, you'll be ready. Luna: Thanks, Lucas! And thanks to our listeners for learning with us.
