- 0:16celebrities, CEOs and even royalty, Adam Cox.
- 0:20These recordings took place live from Evans Clinic in London's
- 0:24world famous Harley Street. So get yourself comfortable and
- 0:31enjoy today's episode of The Hypnotist.
- 0:39Hi, Adam here. Now, if you've ever felt nausea,
- 0:42you know what a horrible sensation it is.
- 0:45Quite often it's a feeling that precedes vomiting but doesn't
- 0:49have to lead to vomiting. And sometimes it could be a
- 0:53really unsettled gut. A lot of the time it feels like
- 0:56it's around the chest and the throat.
- 0:58A horrible, horrible feeling. And I was working with a client
- 1:02that was pregnant. They were about two months
- 1:03pregnant and it was much more severe sickness and nausea than
- 1:09their previous pregnancy and they didn't want to feel that
- 1:12way. It was getting them down, making
- 1:15them sad, stopping them from doing things that they wanted to
- 1:17do. So in this hypnosis session, it
- 1:20takes A2 pronged attack. 1 is looking at the nausea as a
- 1:26signal from the body, and this idea that the signal is
- 1:30understood and therefore the intensity of the signal is not
- 1:34required, is a good way of working with people.
- 1:38With anything that has a subjective spectrum like pain or
- 1:42anxiety, we want to dial that down.
- 1:45So there's that element. The second element is that they
- 1:48had had periods in their life where things that were
- 1:52undesirable had happened and yet they dealt with them in a very
- 1:57different way. There was 1 moment where they
- 2:00fell down some stairs, bruised himself, but it didn't stop them
- 2:02doing what they were planning on doing.
- 2:05And in social situations, a mean or nasty common wouldn't get
- 2:10under their skin, it wouldn't trigger them.
- 2:12And that's. Used to.
- 2:14Highlight this idea that the pain or the nausea can be real,
- 2:20but the suffering is a internal strategy quite often linked to
- 2:24victimhood and self pity. Why me?
- 2:28Why do I have to deal with this? This isn't fair.
- 2:30And that creates the cycle that makes something real much worse.
- 2:35Whereas most people have had the experience of having something
- 2:38like a migraine or a toothache, But if they've got something
- 2:42important that they need to do or a deadline while they're
- 2:45immersed in that new thing, the migraine of the toothache still
- 2:49exist. But they don't experience the
- 2:51same intensity because they are focused on other things.
- 2:55And that is used as a parallel for nausea.
- 2:58That actually, if as a result of nausea they just lay down on a
- 3:02sofa or a bed and don't do much, then they've got more time to
- 3:06think about the nausea. Whereas if they feel the nausea
- 3:11and continue to do what they're going to do anyway, there is an
- 3:14element of distraction and being focused on other things.
- 3:18They don't quite dwell or wallow in the nausea to the same
- 3:22extent. So it's about framing it in a
- 3:25different way. It also has for those people
- 3:28into NLP some elements of submodality shifts.
- 3:31This client perceived their nausea as being like a heavy
- 3:35toxic gas. That's why there's a metaphor of
- 3:38ventilation to remove that kind of feeling of weight and a smell
- 3:45and a sensation and a taste. All of those things are worked
- 3:49on in this session. Now, given that these were the
- 3:54sensations or the unconscious metaphors linked to the feeling
- 3:59of nausea for this client, it might be that you experience
- 4:02nausea in a different way. It might feel rather than around
- 4:06the throat and the respiratory, it might be more in the gut.
- 4:09It might feel less like a toxic cloud of smoke or something like
- 4:13that and more like something that's volatile like a like a
- 4:17bubbling cauldron could be different for you.
- 4:20So treat this hypnosis session where you utilize anything that
- 4:25feels useful or beneficial. Disregard anything that doesn't
- 4:28quite resonate. But if you do like the idea of a
- 4:31bespoke session specific to you and your circumstances, in the
- 4:36show notes there will be a link and also on my website
- 4:39adamcox.co.uk there will be a link.
- 4:42To book a free consultation, call Overzoom.
- 4:45We'll have a chat and it may be that we end up working together.
- 4:48So rather than just listening to my recordings, you end up
- 4:51working with me direct. And some people don't realize
- 4:54that the sessions that I share are on the base of real life
- 4:57sessions. It isn't that I speak with the
- 5:00client and send them a recording.
- 5:01They experience my hypno sessions absolutely live in real
- 5:05time. It's just that because I'm in a
- 5:07recording studio, I record that audio and share it while
- 5:11protecting the confidentiality of the client.
- 5:14And the reason I do that is that there's 8 billion people in the
- 5:17world. There's going to be some people
- 5:19in the world that are close enough to the circumstances of
- 5:22the original client. That means it's going to benefit
- 5:25them, but it will still benefit you even if you're not exactly
- 5:29in the same situation as the client, just not as much.
- 5:32And that's why people still work with me one-on-one even though I
- 5:36published so many recordings, because it is tailored and
- 5:39customized to them specifically. They're not getting a recording
- 5:43that was created for or someone else.
- 5:45If that appeals to you, check out that link.
- 5:47It's on adamcox.co.uk. But for now, find a quiet,
- 5:51comfortable place where you won't be disturbed.
- 5:54Relax and enjoy the session. Take a deep breath in, and as
- 6:15you breathe in, breathe in that resourceful feeling of calm and
- 6:21relaxation. And as you exhale, feel a
- 6:29wonderful feeling of release. Breathing in relaxation and
- 6:42exhaling anything that feels like it doesn't belong.
- 6:52I don't need to use the power of your imagination and imagine the
- 6:58bright glowing white light, almost like the very center of a
- 7:08*. And I want you to imagine
- 7:12breathing in this pure white light going in through your
- 7:18nose, into your lungs, pure, clean, vibrant.
- 7:26And as you exhale, imagine something toxic, sludgy, orange
- 7:34or brown just leaving your body, like a gas just leaving your
- 7:39mouth, your nose, leaving your body in your outward breath.
- 7:47And when you breathe in, breathe in that pure glowing white
- 7:52light, healing white light, and imagine all of that brightness
- 8:00there in your lungs. And just imagine your heart
- 8:05taking that bright white and distributing it to every cell in
- 8:11your body. And in the same way that you can
- 8:16breathe in oxygen, can exhale carbon dioxide without needing
- 8:22to do anything, just imagine breathing out anything impure,
- 8:30toxic, anything unpleasant, breathing in what your body
- 8:38needs, and exhaling anything that doesn't belong.
- 8:46It almost feels like this is an energetic transfusion, breathing
- 8:54in what's clean, pure and light, and exhaling what is heavy, dark
- 9:04and toxic. And notice already a lightness
- 9:11around your chest, around your throat, the feeling of feeling
- 9:19expansive rather than confined. That's it.
- 9:26Because you're breathing in is pure white light.
- 9:31The deeper you breathe, more relaxed and refreshed you feel.
- 9:39And the more relaxed and refreshed you feel, the deeper
- 9:43you breathe. A wonderful cycle of feeling
- 9:47healthier, cleaner, clearer, lighter.
- 9:53And every breath takes you deeper and deeper.
- 9:58Relax now. Eyelids getting heavier, muscles
- 10:04in your jaw starting to loose? Feel that looseness?
- 10:09That's it. Neck and shoulders relaxing.
- 10:13That's it. Every breath takes you deeper
- 10:20and deeper. Relaxed now.
- 10:35And I want you to imagine what it would feel like to see a
- 10:44slide, the kind of slide from your childhood, the kind of
- 10:51slide in a park, or the kind of slide that maybe you had in a
- 10:59garden when you were a child. Just imagine sliding down that
- 11:04slide. But it's a long slide, taking
- 11:08you from your conscious to your subconscious.
- 11:12And as I count down from 12:50, you will imagine continuing to
- 11:18slide down that slide. And when you get to the end, you
- 11:24will imagine yourself in pure, pristine nature on a sunny day
- 11:35with a light, gentle breeze. But for now, let's slide down
- 11:40the slide. Each descending number takes you
- 11:45deeper and deeper. Relaxed 10 Sliding down 9 Feel
- 11:55the fun, the lightness 8 Sliding down more feels exhilarating,
- 12:04freeing. 7 turns to six Continuing down the slide.
- 12:12Imagine at the top of the slide is thick toxic gas, and as you
- 12:16slide down you're getting further from the gas and more
- 12:20towards clean, clear nature air. Six goes to five halfway down
- 12:28the slide. Now and then four.
- 12:31Feel the sensation of a breeze or the air hitting your face as
- 12:38you slide down faster down the slide. 4 tends to three.
- 12:43I can imagine seeing the tops of trees now continuing down and
- 12:50maybe here running water below like a stream.
- 12:55Two turns to 1 and just imagine now one turns to 0.
- 13:00Just feel like you've slid all the way down this slide from a
- 13:08toxic atmosphere to clean, clear nature.
- 13:15And I want you to imagine yourself in that place of
- 13:21unspoilt nature. Only nature.
- 13:26Blue skies, sunshine, the breeze.
- 13:32That's it. I want you to get a feeling of
- 13:36what it would feel like be breathing in pure fresh air and
- 13:47just imagine somewhere nearby in that nature of trees and leaves
- 13:55and running water and fresh air is a comfy chair.
- 14:02Perhaps the comfiest chair you can ever imagine there in
- 14:06nature. Imagine sinking into that
- 14:10comfortable, relaxing chair. Imagine closing your eyes there
- 14:17in the nature, and as you continue to drift comfortably
- 14:22inward, you realize that there's no need to fight or resist
- 14:29anything at all. Your body already knows how to
- 14:35do something important. It already knows how to send a
- 14:40signal without needing to turn the volume up that a message can
- 14:48be delivered without the alarm continuing to blare.
- 14:56I don't need to think about nausea not as a problem, but as
- 15:01a signal. Somewhere deeper.
- 15:06Your mind can recognize that the nausea itself is not the
- 15:10problem, it's the intensity, the density and the weight.
- 15:20And that can now begin to change.
- 15:27You can allow your subconscious to keep what's useful while
- 15:32releasing what's excessive. The signal has already been
- 15:38received, the body heard it, it doesn't need to shout anymore.
- 15:48And just like turning down a dimmer switch, not switching
- 15:53anything off, just lowering it to a more comfortable level.
- 15:59You've done that before. You've gone into a room and it
- 16:03was just too bright, too intense, so you turned the
- 16:06lighting down or you entered a room where the music was just
- 16:13too loud and you just turned it down to the right level.
- 16:21So allow your system to begin to do that naturally.
- 16:25Now, low levels of nausea is part and parcel of pregnancy and
- 16:36what you're experiencing, but it doesn't need to be more intense
- 16:41than it needs to be. You've heard the signal, got the
- 16:45message, so let's dial it down. I don't want you to think about
- 16:56how you have been thinking about nausea.
- 17:01Thick, heavy toxic gas, maybe yellow or brown.
- 17:08That metallic, rotten, dense taste like smog, sitting low and
- 17:19stagnant. You don't need to push it away.
- 17:26Instead, simply notice that even smog and toxic gas behaves
- 17:33differently when air begins to move.
- 17:45So let's use your imagination and begin to imagine a gentle
- 17:53ventilation starting somewhere nearby.
- 18:00It could be mechanical like a fan, but nature already has
- 18:06ventilation. Convection currents are called
- 18:12wind or breezes, and I want you to imagine experiencing that
- 18:18airflow like a breeze moving through trees here, the leaves
- 18:27shifting, branches opening space.
- 18:32Feel the air begin to circulate. And that heavy gas doesn't need
- 18:39to be fought, it naturally thins.
- 18:46Imagine feeling the density reducing.
- 18:52Imagine the thickness turning into something light, opaque,
- 18:58transparent. That thick cloud of toxic gas is
- 19:05now thinner and thinner. What was thick becomes less
- 19:12dense and what was stagnant begins to dissipate.
- 19:21And as this happens, you may notice colours beginning to
- 19:26change. And don't be surprised if when
- 19:31you notice the changes, you notice a physical alteration or
- 19:38adaptation within your body. Tightness becomes released.
- 19:45Heaviness becomes light. Something confining and
- 19:49restricted becomes open, expansive to.
- 19:57Just imagine those murky yellows and Browns.
- 20:01To paler tones, to lighter shades like a pale blue or a
- 20:06bright glowing white. See the colour that represents
- 20:14clean freshness. Something with a glow brightness
- 20:23feels pure and healthy. And notice that when the gas
- 20:31feels like it's gone away, when the colours feel bright and
- 20:36light, notice how difficult it is to find that metallic, rotten
- 20:43taste. In fact, imagine someone passes
- 20:52you a delicious citrus fruit. Maybe it's an orange or
- 21:05something more bitter, like a lemon or lime.
- 21:10Perhaps something with a tangy sensation.
- 21:17Grapefruit. Maybe it's sweet, maybe it's
- 21:20sour, but it's tangy. It's fresh, it's powered by
- 21:27sunshine and rainwater. Pure water inside this citrus
- 21:36fruit and I want you to imagine taking a bite.
- 21:49Citrus fruits are filled of tiny pods that explode with flavour
- 21:57and just imagine them exploding all over the taste buds and
- 22:03notice the combination of this taste, this smell, this breeze,
- 22:10this lightness. Notice that when you feel this
- 22:14way, nausea seems elusive. In the same way that a tree
- 22:26cannot be planted in the desert, I want you to get a sense that
- 22:32nausea can't exist here. When you feel this way, you know
- 22:46the sensation of fresh air after rain, your lungs feeling easily
- 22:54like space returning. Nothing force, just ventilation
- 23:02and nature doing what moving air does.
- 23:12Some people think of the planet as a system.
- 23:17If something is too toxic, movement changes it.
- 23:24Water can become stagnant when it stops moving, and in the past
- 23:30you've used stopping moving as a coping strategy.
- 23:38But what if the best coping strategy is to feel undeterred,
- 23:46to do what you were going to do anyway?
- 23:52Motion creates emotion. I want you to notice that this
- 24:00isn't about feeling amazing. It's just about feeling neutral.
- 24:07Fresh air, open space, nature, a body that can breathe again and
- 24:16even if a trace of sensation remains, it sits in the
- 24:21background now, no longer centre stage and no longer dominating
- 24:28awareness. You've made the small thing
- 24:34bigger than it needed to be. Not because you were doing
- 24:40anything wrong. You were trying to do the right
- 24:44thing in the wrong way. But where focus goes, energy
- 24:52flows. And if the focus is on the
- 24:56nausea, you will notice more nausea.
- 25:02I want you to recall a time when you were bruised, in pain, but
- 25:09because your focus was on moments, experiences,
- 25:14conversations, you noticed less pain.
- 25:21If that's true with pain, it's also true with nausea.
- 25:28And sometimes we make things worse unintentionally.
- 25:33And in a dialogue of self pity or frustration or manic or
- 25:39reactive problem solving implies that you're the victim and
- 25:47there's no judgement. They're understandable rational
- 25:52responses, but your mind already knows another voice.
- 26:00There's been times in your life where things were hard,
- 26:03difficult, unpleasant, but you're in a dialogue sounded
- 26:10very different. Awaken that in a dialogue now,
- 26:15the one that sounded like pride, tenacity, gratitude, and maybe
- 26:26at some level you knew it was uncomfortable, and yet you felt
- 26:33undeterred. Think of a friend from your
- 26:37past. That nausea didn't stop them
- 26:43doing what they wanted to do. Feel that thought, idea, belief
- 26:49awakening within you awaken a way of thinking about this so it
- 27:00becomes less of a big deal. Something manageable.
- 27:10Not about drama, not about force, just knowing you have a
- 27:18choice. I want you to think that there
- 27:26is perhaps thousands of people experiencing something more
- 27:35intense than you're nausea. Some of those are pregnant,
- 27:44maybe some aren't. Maybe some are going through
- 27:51difficult medical treatments and others difficult pregnancies.
- 28:00And I want you to compare your nausea to something much worse,
- 28:07so you start to feel that even though it's not great, it's
- 28:13manageable. It could be worse.
- 28:17And maybe what once was calling sadness, frustration, pity can
- 28:23now 'cause perspective that leads to gratitude, a sign that
- 28:34it's a small price to pay. There is someone in the world
- 28:42right now that would gladly take four times your nausea if it
- 28:51meant they could be pregnant. And I want you to get a sense
- 28:57that sometimes things aren't as you want them to be.
- 29:09But what if it's a small price to pay?
- 29:17The ticket for the admission is worth all that you can and will
- 29:24experience, because you don't need to like any sensation to
- 29:33move forward anyway. Pleasant does not mean
- 29:38unmanageable. Hear that voice, that in a
- 29:48dialogue that sounds undeterred, telling you that this nausea is
- 29:54a small price in a short chapter for something profoundly healthy
- 30:02and meaningful. That things have always come in
- 30:08your life after periods of endurance.
- 30:14This is not punishment. This is an investment to help
- 30:23give you resilience perspective. I want you to get a feeling, a
- 30:35feeling that you know how to make something that bothers
- 30:38someone else not bother you. Drift back to a memory in a
- 30:44social situation where someone said something mean or rude,
- 30:51passive aggressive or snarky, and it felt like water off a
- 30:57duck's back. Didn't bother you at all?
- 31:03Awaken that neural network and allow that neural network to
- 31:08connect with feeling that way about nausea instead of what if
- 31:17this gets worse, How long will this go on for?
- 31:20Imagine thinking this is temporary, this is manageable, I
- 31:25can handle this, and doing whatever you were going to do
- 31:30anyway, knowing that your mind can only focus on a few things
- 31:43and that 7 or 8 balls that fit in that bucket of focus and
- 31:47attention when you fill the bucket with things you want to
- 31:53be doing. What if there's no space left
- 31:57for any nausea? It exists, you just don't
- 32:02experience it. So activate those same emotional
- 32:09muscles, that same resilience, and allow your unconscious to
- 32:14apply it effortlessly. You know how to make things less
- 32:20bothersome or more. I want you to feel.
- 32:31Feel a sense of everything is dialing down its intensity, and
- 32:39if it has to be there, you accept it.
- 32:43But that doesn't mean you can't change how you think about it.
- 32:48Changing thick gas to light, gas to no gas, Strong heavy smells
- 32:58to no smells, Heaviness to lightness.
- 33:04That's it. Just allow yourself to know that
- 33:09you're more in control of what meaning you give things and how
- 33:17you think about things. Part of you locks in a new
- 33:25identity where there is less nausea when it's possible and
- 33:31yet undeterred when it's present.
- 33:35No spiralling, no collapse, just a calm knowing the Stoics
- 33:47understood that pain doesn't need to mean suffering, nausea
- 33:57does not mean you need to suffer.
- 34:02And when you accept that fully, it loses control and intensity.
- 34:12Imagine the next few days and weeks.
- 34:17The nausea is not even described as nausea, just sensations like
- 34:26feelings of turbulence inside. Manageable.
- 34:32See that future version of you. Lighter, smiling more, breathing
- 34:35more freely, more yourself again.
- 34:41Like a chapter has faded into a new chapter.
- 34:45Things are getting easier and there's more joy, and I want you
- 34:52to see yourself with a new level of resilience.
- 34:56A new. Level of being empowered with a
- 35:02new level of quiet pride. That's it.
- 35:07And just allow yourself now to leave that place in nature and
- 35:20to start floating all the way back to your present.
- 35:25And as you do so, feel that new identity has awakened.
- 35:33So take a deep breath in through your nose and out through your
- 35:39nose. Wiggle your fingers and wiggle
- 35:42your toes. Connect and calibrate into the
- 35:45here and the now as I now count from 1:00 to 10:00 to awaken
- 35:52you. Starting to count 123 waking up
- 35:58456 more alert. 7-8. Open your eyes.
- 36:02Open your eyes 910 Wide awake, Wide awake.
