- 0:00Speaker 1: Before we get into today's episode, we want to send
- 0:02Speaker 1: our sincere condolences to those affected by the Bondi terror attack.
- 0:07Speaker 1: We pre-recorded today's episode before the attacks occurred. We are
- 0:10Speaker 1: in shock that something like this could happen in Australia.
- 0:13Speaker 1: The images coming out from the attack are horrific. If
- 0:17Speaker 1: you're looking for a way to help, Lifeblood has issued
- 0:19Speaker 1: several orders for.
- 0:20Speaker 2: O negative blood. Sending all our love to the Jewish
- 0:23Speaker 2: community and the people of Bondi. Hello and welcome to Outspoken.
- 0:29Speaker 2: It's your bite-sized dose of the hottest influencer and pop
- 0:33Speaker 2: culture news this festive season. I'm Sophie Torber and coming
- 0:37Speaker 2: up on today's show, the horrifying reality of Indy Clinton's
- 0:41Speaker 2: nose reconstruction, the truth behind a British TikToker's viral luxury
- 0:45Speaker 2: advent calendar, and the Aussie farmer with a striking resemblance
- 0:49Speaker 2: to an OG beauty influencer. But first, Tammy Hembrough has
- 0:53Speaker 2: revealed her social media hiatus is over. The OG influencer
- 0:56Speaker 2: has spent the last couple of weeks offline to film
- 0:59Speaker 2: for a new reality show called Shark. So Tammy took
- 1:02Speaker 2: to her Instagram stories on Friday to reveal she's easing
- 1:05Speaker 2: herself back onto social media. She's actually been receiving a
- 1:08Speaker 2: lot of messages from fans being like, are you okay? Yeah,
- 1:11Speaker 2: because she said it's the longest time she's actually ever
- 1:14Speaker 2: been off social media, which is saying something. I can
- 1:17Speaker 2: see why people are concerned. They need their Tammy content.
- 1:19Speaker 2: I mean, last week, I think it was one of
- 1:21Speaker 2: the first episodes, in quite some time that did not
- 1:24Speaker 2: include a topic about Tammy Ambrose. Well, she hasn't posted
- 1:27Speaker 2: on TikTok since the 20th of November. She was a
- 1:29Speaker 2: little bit more active on Instagram posting pre-recorded ads for
- 1:32Speaker 2: Black Friday, but she probably hasn't been active for weeks now.
- 1:36Speaker 2: So we don't know what's going on in her life.
- 1:38Speaker 2: I wonder how this hiatus will affect her social media
- 1:41Speaker 2: performance because Tammy said it's the first time in 10
- 1:43Speaker 2: years she's been offline for this long. For those who
- 1:45Speaker 2: aren't across how the algorithm works, the more you post,
- 1:49Speaker 2: the more Instagram and TikTok rewards you. So when you
- 1:52Speaker 2: do have an off period, but you're not posting, your
- 1:55Speaker 2: post then doesn't get put out to as many people.
- 1:57Speaker 2: I have noticed that, side note, with my dog's Instagram account,
- 2:00Speaker 2: because since having a child, yes, I haven't been quite
- 2:03Speaker 2: as active on there. Six month hiatus for you. No,
- 2:05Speaker 2: actually I've posted a bit here and there, but Yeah,
- 2:08Speaker 2: it's really crazy because he's got like over 35,000 followers.
- 2:11Speaker 2: Are you fishing for new followers now? Sometimes, yeah. Sometimes
- 2:15Speaker 2: I put a post out and I only get a
- 2:17Speaker 2: couple of hundred likes. I'm like, what's going on? Well,
- 2:19Speaker 2: you've really got to feed that algorithm. And I wonder
- 2:21Speaker 2: if it's worth it for Tammy to be appearing on
- 2:23Speaker 2: this TV show, if it's going to ruin how well
- 2:25Speaker 2: her posts perform on social media, because that's her bread
- 2:27Speaker 2: and butter, really. Yeah, but once she's back, she'll be
- 2:30Speaker 2: posting every single day again, I'm sure. And I have
- 2:33Speaker 2: missed her content. Do you think maybe she might post
- 2:35Speaker 2: something controversial because she said that you know, once she's
- 2:38Speaker 2: back online, she's going to fill everyone in on everything
- 2:40Speaker 2: that's been going on. It was kind of a bit
- 2:41Speaker 2: of a hook to be like, well, what has been
- 2:43Speaker 2: going on? I mean, to be honest, I don't personally
- 2:45Speaker 2: care about the TV show. I want to know what's
- 2:47Speaker 2: been going on in her private life. And I feel
- 2:49Speaker 2: like the hiatus came at a good time for her
- 2:52Speaker 2: because just before she went offline, she was spotted getting
- 2:55Speaker 2: cozy with the owner of the management company that she
- 2:58Speaker 2: is managed by. I feel like public sentiment was turning
- 3:01Speaker 2: a little bit on her at that point. So maybe
- 3:03Speaker 2: it's good that she's been offline for a few weeks
- 3:05Speaker 2: and people are missing her now. Yeah, I think some
- 3:07Speaker 2: influencers can definitely become too oversaturated. And I think that's
- 3:11Speaker 2: been the case for Tammy this year.
- 3:12Speaker 3: Where to start this, if I'm even going to post this,
- 3:16Speaker 3: but I just need to get this off my chest
- 3:17Speaker 3: because I feel sick in the stomach.
- 3:20Speaker 2: Indy Clinton has tearfully opened up about her corrective nose job,
- 3:24Speaker 2: saying she feels sick to her core about the impending surgery.
- 3:28Speaker 2: The popular TikToker is set to go under the knife
- 3:30Speaker 2: for a second time following a rhinoplasty in March, which
- 3:33Speaker 2: left her with a nose she says she didn't ask for.
- 3:36Speaker 2: So in the tearful video, Indy said she had PTSD
- 3:39Speaker 2: from the first operation. Yeah, and it's not really surprising
- 3:42Speaker 2: to see why it's been a really tough 12 months
- 3:44Speaker 2: for Indy Clinton since she had her surgery in March.
- 3:47Speaker 2: She has been relentlessly trolled by low lives online who
- 3:51Speaker 2: have mocked the appearance of her new nose and some
- 3:53Speaker 2: have even gone as far as saying that she ruined
- 3:56Speaker 2: her face, which it's been horrendous to see the things
- 3:59Speaker 2: that people think are acceptable to say online. It's shown
- 4:01Speaker 2: a really ugly side of TikTok. Yeah, and the reality
- 4:04Speaker 2: is while Indy was copying this barrage of hate, she
- 4:07Speaker 2: was having to come to terms with the fact that
- 4:09Speaker 2: something drastically went wrong during this surgery. So Indy went
- 4:13Speaker 2: in to fix a small bump on her nose, which
- 4:15Speaker 2: she sustained during a surfboarding accident. And she says that
- 4:19Speaker 2: she asked for some minor tweaks, but came out with
- 4:21Speaker 2: a nose that looked completely different and structurally has issues.
- 4:25Speaker 2: This is the first time that she has actually confirmed
- 4:27Speaker 2: that structurally something is wrong with her nose. In this
- 4:30Speaker 2: TikTok video, she revealed that her nose will have to
- 4:32Speaker 2: be completely reconstructed as she can no longer breathe through
- 4:36Speaker 2: it properly. Let's take a listen to some of what
- 4:38Speaker 2: she said.
- 4:39Speaker 3: I haven't spoken about this on, I guess, a deeper
- 4:42Speaker 3: level because my coping mechanism is to joke about things
- 4:46Speaker 3: and that's what I do to kind of protect myself.
- 4:48Speaker 4: But now I'm getting it fixed. I feel like I
- 4:50Speaker 4: can speak a little bit easier. I feel sick to
- 4:52Speaker 4: my core about it.
- 4:53Speaker 3: Um, Probably because I had PTSD from my first operation
- 4:58Speaker 3: that was this year in March. And earlier this year
- 5:02Speaker 3: I had a rhinoplasty and it resulted in an outcome
- 5:04Speaker 3: that I didn't want or ask for or even sign
- 5:07Speaker 3: off on.
- 5:08Speaker 4: Which has resulted in, I guess, I can't breathe through
- 5:12Speaker 4: my nose anymore.
- 5:12Speaker 3: I have to reconstruct my nose now, which really terrifies me.
- 5:17Speaker 3: It's a four-hour surgery and we have to get cartilage
- 5:20Speaker 3: from my rib to support my nose again. Hoping, praying,
- 5:24Speaker 3: wishing I have an incredible outcome and I'm in safe hands.
- 5:32Speaker 3: I know I'm in safe hands. He's an incredible surgeon
- 5:34Speaker 3: and he's one of Sydney's top surgeons for rhinoplasties and revisions.
- 5:40Speaker 3: It's more just internally what I'm dealing with and I just,
- 5:46Speaker 3: I don't know, I don't know.
- 5:48Speaker 2: You could sense a lot of fear in Indy's voice
- 5:50Speaker 2: when she was talking about this and a lot of anxiety.
- 5:54Speaker 2: I mean, after the experience that she's had, you can
- 5:56Speaker 2: see why she's terrified to go back under the knife.
- 5:59Speaker 2: She would be putting so much trust in this new
- 6:01Speaker 2: surgeon's hands. What particularly shocked me was that they have
- 6:04Speaker 2: to get cartilage from her ribs to help reconstruct her nose.
- 6:08Speaker 2: I saw some people in the comments saying, oh, why
- 6:10Speaker 2: can't they take it from your ear? And then other
- 6:12Speaker 2: people were like, well, it must be a big job
- 6:14Speaker 2: if they're having to take it from her rib because
- 6:15Speaker 2: obviously that cartilage is bigger. That's absolutely horrifying. I didn't
- 6:19Speaker 2: even know that that was a thing. No, I didn't either.
- 6:22Speaker 2: I just was like, I can't even imagine having to
- 6:24Speaker 2: go through it, particularly because she knows that there's going
- 6:26Speaker 2: to be a lot of commentary around what it looks
- 6:28Speaker 2: like next. There's going to be huge anticipation around what
- 6:32Speaker 2: the new nose looks like, whether the surgeon has been
- 6:35Speaker 2: able to fix it. And I suppose whether it looks
- 6:38Speaker 2: like what her original nose did. I mean, this video
- 6:41Speaker 2: has already attracted a huge response online. At the time
- 6:44Speaker 2: of recording, it has over 1.4 million views and 167,000 likes.
- 6:50Speaker 2: It has also elicited a huge response in the comment
- 6:52Speaker 2: section and it points to a potential court case. So
- 6:56Speaker 2: one user wrote, I would be suing that other place
- 6:59Speaker 2: that messed it up. Whilst another said, I would be
- 7:02Speaker 2: getting a lawyer if they have caused you so much
- 7:05Speaker 2: pain physically and emotionally. All the bullying you have suffered
- 7:08Speaker 2: isn't fair. Praying for you, take care. Now, it's quite
- 7:12Speaker 2: telling because Indy liked both of those comments, pointing to
- 7:15Speaker 2: the fact that there is a potential lawsuit that is
- 7:19Speaker 2: being issued towards this plastic surgeon who did the initial
- 7:22Speaker 2: nose job. Well, she also hinted at a lawsuit in
- 7:25Speaker 2: a video she filmed after the TikTok awards when she
- 7:27Speaker 2: was talking about her behavior on the red carpet. And
- 7:30Speaker 2: she mentioned how a reporter had asked her about her
- 7:33Speaker 2: nose and she said, I can't talk about it for
- 7:34Speaker 2: legal reasons. Well, it's interesting because she is clearly using
- 7:38Speaker 2: her comment section to get her message across because there
- 7:41Speaker 2: was even another comment where someone said, curious why you
- 7:43Speaker 2: aren't allowed to mention the first place. It can't be
- 7:46Speaker 2: defamation if it's true and your honest experience. And someone
- 7:49Speaker 2: replied underneath saying, she's most likely in the midst of
- 7:52Speaker 2: a lawsuit, so is unable to make comment on it.
- 7:55Speaker 2: online to protect the case. And Indy also liked that comment.
- 7:58Speaker 2: So it's like she's using those comments to say, look,
- 8:01Speaker 2: this is what's happening. I mean, I think Indy has
- 8:03Speaker 2: a very good case considering that not only is she
- 8:05Speaker 2: not happy aesthetically with the nose, but the fact that
- 8:07Speaker 2: she can't breathe properly. I mean, clearly something majorly wrong
- 8:11Speaker 2: has gone on during the surgery. I think this comment
- 8:13Speaker 2: really encapsulated the whole situation. One user wrote, doesn't help
- 8:17Speaker 2: that everyone's been a C to you either, which got
- 8:19Speaker 2: over 1500 likes. And it's true. I Going in for surgery,
- 8:26Speaker 2: it essentially being botched and then everyone poking fun at
- 8:29Speaker 2: you and assuming that you were really happy with the result.
- 8:32Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 8:32Speaker 2: It would be a very difficult pill to swallow. Well,
- 8:35Speaker 2: particularly because she has come out and said that the
- 8:37Speaker 2: surgeons kept telling her, oh, don't worry. It's going to improve.
- 8:40Speaker 2: It's going to look better. This is what happens. You've
- 8:42Speaker 2: got to wait a year. Yeah, exactly. They were obviously
- 8:44Speaker 2: gaslighting her a bit. Abby Chatfield also weighed in on
- 8:48Speaker 2: the comment section writing, this is so hard. I'm so sorry.
- 8:51Speaker 2: This should not have happened. You look incredible always, of course,
- 8:54Speaker 2: but this is so morally wrong that someone did this
- 8:56Speaker 2: to you. Sending love and this new surgeon will fix,
- 8:59Speaker 2: I'm sure. It's quite interesting because I didn't know that
- 9:02Speaker 2: they were friendly at all. Like it's weird. They seem
- 9:04Speaker 2: to be from two very different walks of TikTok, if
- 9:07Speaker 2: that makes sense. Like it was sort of nice to
- 9:08Speaker 2: see Abby reaching out to her in this way. When
- 9:12Speaker 2: I read Abby's comment, I could tell how carefully she
- 9:16Speaker 2: must have written it because it is a really difficult
- 9:18Speaker 2: topic to broach because you've got all these horrible people
- 9:21Speaker 2: online saying, oh, you know, Indy's nose looks so bad.
- 9:24Speaker 2: But then you've got Indy saying, well, I'm also not
- 9:26Speaker 2: happy with it. But you feel like if you do
- 9:29Speaker 2: acknowledge the fact that potentially it doesn't look like the
- 9:32Speaker 2: way it's supposed to, you're being a troll as well.
- 9:35Speaker 2: It's such a difficult one. Yeah, you want to be supportive,
- 9:38Speaker 2: but you don't want to kick someone when they're down.
- 9:40Speaker 2: But I think she, I think Abby handled it pretty well.
- 9:42Speaker 2: I mean, at the end of the day, Indy Clinton
- 9:44Speaker 2: is a beautiful woman, regardless of what her nose used
- 9:47Speaker 2: to look like and now looks like. But I just
- 9:49Speaker 2: really hope that she gets a result this time that
- 9:51Speaker 2: she's happy with, that makes her feel confident and beautiful
- 9:53Speaker 2: in her own skin. And a nose that she can
- 9:56Speaker 2: breathe through.
- 9:56Speaker 4: Exactly.
- 9:57Speaker 5: Who's Michael Finch? And why do a lot of you
- 10:01Speaker 5: keep saying me and him are twin brothers or we
- 10:03Speaker 5: got separated from birth?
- 10:06Speaker 2: An Aussie farmer by the name of Dallas Dwyer has
- 10:09Speaker 2: gone viral on TikTok for bearing a striking resemblance to
- 10:13Speaker 2: OG beauty influencer Michael Finch. The young dad who has
- 10:16Speaker 2: attracted over 117,000 followers on the app for sharing about
- 10:21Speaker 2: his life on the farm has recently been inundated with
- 10:24Speaker 2: followers saying the pair are long lost twins. Let's take
- 10:28Speaker 2: a listen to what he said.
- 10:30Speaker 5: Brother, I looked up Michael Finch and the first thing
- 10:34Speaker 5: that come up was Ken from Barbie's Dreamhouse or Dreamworld,
- 10:38Speaker 5: whatever it is. What do you mean? I'm the roughest mother...
- 10:42Speaker 5: You know, I'm just rough as all guts.
- 10:45Speaker 4: I'm a rough country fella.
- 10:46Speaker 5: That's a pretty boy.
- 10:47Speaker 3: You know what I mean?
- 10:50Speaker 5: Stop.
- 10:52Speaker 2: This popped up when I was scrolling TikTok, and I
- 10:54Speaker 2: had to do a double take. It was so funny,
- 10:56Speaker 2: particularly the accent this guy has, because he's just your
- 10:59Speaker 2: quintessential farmer. That's what I loved about this as well,
- 11:02Speaker 2: that these two men come from such different walks of life,
- 11:05Speaker 2: yet they look exactly the same. I mean... There's something
- 11:08Speaker 2: about their eyebrows. For those who haven't seen the video,
- 11:11Speaker 2: it's in the eyes, I think. We reshared the video
- 11:13Speaker 2: recently on our Instagram story and we had so many
- 11:15Speaker 2: people saying, hang on, that is Michael Finch, isn't it? Like,
- 11:17Speaker 2: is this just a parody? Because I mean, that's kind
- 11:20Speaker 2: of the vibe you got. What I love about it
- 11:22Speaker 2: is as soon as people probably started commenting on his videos,
- 11:25Speaker 2: how you look like Michael Finch, he would have done
- 11:26Speaker 2: the Google search. And I had to type in Michael
- 11:29Speaker 2: Finch to see what photos he received. And of course
- 11:31Speaker 2: he got all of the ones from Michael's OG beauty
- 11:34Speaker 2: days where he had obviously so much makeup on. Well,
- 11:38Speaker 2: I mean, he looks like Michael Finch now in his
- 11:40Speaker 2: cooking era, doesn't he? Yeah, but I love it because
- 11:42Speaker 2: you know when someone tells you, oh, you look like
- 11:43Speaker 2: someone famous and then you go and look him up
- 11:44Speaker 2: and you're like, what the fuck? I reckon he was like,
- 11:47Speaker 2: what the hell? I love that Michael Finch has been
- 11:49Speaker 2: getting around in the comments. So he wrote under the
- 11:51Speaker 2: initial video, maybe it's the eye color brother with a
- 11:54Speaker 2: laughing face. Now, Dallas replied saying, potentially, with two laughing faces.
- 11:59Speaker 2: I just love that this video made it into Michael
- 12:01Speaker 2: Finch's orbit. I mean, it has had half a million views. Well,
- 12:04Speaker 2: surely people were taking it. Yeah, very true. One user
- 12:08Speaker 2: actually pointed out that they think that Dallas looks like
- 12:11Speaker 2: a mix between Michael Finch and Mitch Orville. which received
- 12:14Speaker 2: close to 700 likes. I can see that. These two
- 12:17Speaker 2: need to do some sort of collaboration together. Yes, they
- 12:20Speaker 2: definitely do. Maybe he could do a cooking video with Michael.
- 12:22Speaker 2: On the farm. I feel like they also need to
- 12:24Speaker 2: do it to clear up any rumours that they aren't
- 12:25Speaker 2: two separate people, that it's just Michael Fitz putting on
- 12:28Speaker 2: an act.
- 12:28Speaker 3: So we have a surprise for you. Oh, God.
- 12:32Speaker 4: Is it something I'm going to like?
- 12:34Speaker 2: Well, I hope so. We have a very special advent
- 12:38Speaker 2: calendar for the years to come. You have one present
- 12:45Speaker 2: for every day until Christmas. The partner of a British
- 12:50Speaker 2: TikToker is being touted husband of the year after he
- 12:53Speaker 2: set up a surprise luxury advent calendar for his wife. However,
- 12:57Speaker 2: as the days go past and another designer gift is unboxed,
- 13:01Speaker 2: viewers are starting to question whether it's just a big
- 13:04Speaker 2: marketing ploy. Kate, can you tell us more? Well, the
- 13:07Speaker 2: recipient of this ostentatious advent calendar is 30-year-old Lenora Smee.
- 13:12Speaker 2: So she is a former competitive show jumper who moved
- 13:16Speaker 2: into brand strategy and content creation after an accident ended
- 13:19Speaker 2: her writing career. So her specialty is event curation and
- 13:24Speaker 2: luxury brand strategy, which makes sense because she is filthy rich.
- 13:29Speaker 2: So while she made her money representing Great Britain in
- 13:32Speaker 2: show jumping, she also comes from a very wealthy family. Well,
- 13:36Speaker 2: as soon as I heard show jumping, I just assumed
- 13:39Speaker 2: that she was rich. Well, according to her website, she
- 13:41Speaker 2: also is a trained opera singer. I mean, that ticks
- 13:45Speaker 2: another box, doesn't it? You kind of get the picture
- 13:48Speaker 2: of who she is if you haven't seen her content.
- 13:50Speaker 2: She kind of has Lydia Millen vibes. She is a
- 13:52Speaker 2: UK influencer who we spoke about a couple of years ago.
- 13:56Speaker 2: When she received backlash for checking into a luxury London
- 13:59Speaker 2: hotel when her boiler broke during a cost of living crisis.
- 14:03Speaker 2: I remember that. That was actually 2022, if you believe it.
- 14:06Speaker 2: So it was a while ago now. That is insane. Well,
- 14:10Speaker 2: when you watch Lenora's content, it's pretty clear money is
- 14:13Speaker 2: no problem. And it appears people are pretty invested in
- 14:16Speaker 2: her very privileged life because she's attracted more than 134,000
- 14:18Speaker 2: followers on TikTok. and 65,000 YouTube subscribers. Her content is
- 14:25Speaker 2: very polished. I've seen a couple of videos that have
- 14:27Speaker 2: clearly been shot by professional videographers. Well, the video you're
- 14:31Speaker 2: talking about is her Vlogmas introduction. So she had a
- 14:34Speaker 2: professional camera crew down at her mansion shooting this content.
- 14:38Speaker 2: It's absolutely beautifully shot. It's quite ironic because in the video,
- 14:43Speaker 2: her luxury car pulls up and it's got a Christmas tree,
- 14:45Speaker 2: like a live Christmas tree on top, and they take
- 14:47Speaker 2: it inside and However, she actually unboxed a nine foot
- 14:51Speaker 2: tall balsam hill tree. So it's kind of like, well,
- 14:54Speaker 2: which one is it? But if you're that rich, you're
- 14:56Speaker 2: going to have a couple of Christmas trees in your house.
- 14:57Speaker 2: I'm sorry. You are absolutely correct. I'm wrong there. But
- 15:00Speaker 2: I mean, people have bedroom Christmas trees. Molly May has one.
- 15:03Speaker 2: She would have a number of living rooms, I'm sure,
- 15:05Speaker 2: that all need to be decorated with a Christmas tree.
- 15:08Speaker 2: That is completely true. I'm sorry. I'm not in my
- 15:11Speaker 2: rich mindset at the moment. Bit of a faux pas
- 15:13Speaker 2: on your end, Kate.
- 15:13Speaker 3: It is.
- 15:14Speaker 2: Well, in terms of this advent calendar, at the start
- 15:17Speaker 2: of December, Lenora went viral after she shared her husband
- 15:21Speaker 2: surprising her with it. Now, her husband's name is Mark
- 15:24Speaker 2: and they've been married since 2021 and they met in
- 15:27Speaker 2: the equestrian world, of course. So he is the director
- 15:30Speaker 2: of an equestrian company and is believed to work in
- 15:33Speaker 2: asset management. So what we've been led to believe is
- 15:36Speaker 2: apparently off his own back, he created this advent calendar
- 15:41Speaker 2: for Lenora. Now, I say advent calendar, but essentially he
- 15:44Speaker 2: selected 25 gifts for her and put them under the
- 15:47Speaker 2: Balsam Hill tree. And every day she opens one of
- 15:50Speaker 2: these gifts on camera. Now, the first video of the
- 15:54Speaker 2: unveiling of the idea went absolutely viral. At the time
- 15:57Speaker 2: of recording, it's had over 8 million views. And in
- 16:00Speaker 2: the caption of the TikTok, Lenora gushed about how she
- 16:02Speaker 2: had no idea how her husband managed to pull it
- 16:05Speaker 2: off without her realizing. However, a sentence later, she tagged
- 16:08Speaker 2: the designer brand where the present came from. Now, for
- 16:11Speaker 2: those playing at home, it was a silk scarf that
- 16:13Speaker 2: retails for a couple of hundred dollars. Oh, so was
- 16:16Speaker 2: that the cheapy item to kick the month off? I mean,
- 16:19Speaker 2: for me, what was a huge red flag to begin
- 16:22Speaker 2: with was the fact that all of these presents were
- 16:24Speaker 2: professionally wrapped. They had the most beautiful red bows on
- 16:28Speaker 2: top of them. And I thought, this guy hasn't organized this. Yeah,
- 16:30Speaker 2: there's been a few clues that he's had a lot
- 16:32Speaker 2: of help. It's quite funny because the general consensus from
- 16:36Speaker 2: this first video was that Lenora was a spoiled brat.
- 16:38Speaker 2: The top comment on the video read, did you hear
- 16:41Speaker 2: a thank you? I didn't. Now this comment received over
- 16:44Speaker 2: 37,000 likes. There was also a lot of confusion around
- 16:47Speaker 2: her husband, Mark, because many people assumed that he was
- 16:50Speaker 2: her dad because there is a bit of an age
- 16:52Speaker 2: gap there. I'm glad that got cleared up because people
- 16:55Speaker 2: would have been particularly confused on day 10 of the
- 16:58Speaker 2: advent calendar because when she unboxed lingerie or disturbed, I think.
- 17:03Speaker 2: By the second video though, people were starting to become
- 17:07Speaker 2: more invested. So one person wrote, did anyone find this
- 17:10Speaker 2: kind of annoying at the beginning, but now fully invested
- 17:12Speaker 2: every day? It's almost like a modern day gifting guide
- 17:15Speaker 2: for men, for hopeless men who don't know what to
- 17:17Speaker 2: get their partners. In saying that, I kind of feel
- 17:20Speaker 2: like the lingerie is a present for himself. I don't
- 17:22Speaker 2: know if that's a present for her. Well, it was
- 17:23Speaker 2: pretty gross because he's like, oh, after this one, I
- 17:25Speaker 2: hope I get lucky tonight. And she's like, you can't
- 17:27Speaker 2: say that. It seems like she doesn't even like it
- 17:29Speaker 2: when she's unwrapping the gifts. More presents, shut up. Yeah. Well, interestingly,
- 17:35Speaker 2: in the caption of the second video, Lenora thanked her, quote, husband,
- 17:39Speaker 2: mother and team for pulling it together. And by day four...
- 17:44Speaker 2: After Lenora unboxed a designer dress and gloves for herself
- 17:47Speaker 2: and then pet accessories for her four sausage dogs, it
- 17:50Speaker 2: was becoming apparent this was all a giant ad. No way.
- 17:54Speaker 2: One person wrote, so I'm a bit slow picking up
- 17:56Speaker 2: on this, but it's one big ad.
- 17:57Speaker 1: Isn't it?
- 17:58Speaker 2: Now, in a bid to try and throw people off
- 18:00Speaker 2: the scent that this was in fact just 25 days
- 18:03Speaker 2: of brand deals, it wasn't a surprise advent calendar like
- 18:06Speaker 2: she claimed. Lenora put in a bit of a red
- 18:08Speaker 2: herring into one of her videos.
- 18:10Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 18:10Speaker 2: So for day five, she had her mom sit and
- 18:13Speaker 2: watch her unbox the gift. So in the video, Lenora
- 18:16Speaker 2: started quizzing her mom, asking if she had helped her
- 18:19Speaker 2: husband pick out all of these amazing gifts. And the
- 18:22Speaker 2: mom goes, oh no, I said to him that you
- 18:25Speaker 2: don't need anything. However, he insisted that he really wanted
- 18:28Speaker 2: to do this. So she then helped him with some
- 18:31Speaker 2: of the ideas.
- 18:32Speaker 4: The lingerie?
- 18:33Speaker 2: Oh God, I hope not. And it was really clear
- 18:36Speaker 2: that the mum, even though she's filthy rich, was trying
- 18:38Speaker 2: to appeal to the masses because she said, I'm so
- 18:41Speaker 2: jealous because your dad just runs around a farm shop
- 18:43Speaker 2: on Christmas Eve and buys me a woolly hat. It's
- 18:45Speaker 2: like judging by the way this woman presented herself, there
- 18:49Speaker 2: is no way that actually happens. Like I am sure
- 18:52Speaker 2: she is absolutely spoiled rotten like her daughter. Now after
- 18:55Speaker 2: Lenora pumping up the fact that her mum had helped
- 18:58Speaker 2: with Day 5's gift. And not a marketing team. Yeah,
- 19:01Speaker 2: and saying it was so nostalgic. Lenora proceeded to open
- 19:04Speaker 2: a piece of coal. Well, maybe that's what everyone in
- 19:06Speaker 2: the comment section thought she needed for being a bit
- 19:08Speaker 2: of a brat.
- 19:09Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 19:09Speaker 2: Well, it turns out that Lenora's parents gave her coal
- 19:12Speaker 2: when she was seven because she was being a brat,
- 19:14Speaker 2: which I thought spoke volumes. And it was pretty funny.
- 19:17Speaker 2: In the following video, Lenora said to her husband, why
- 19:20Speaker 2: did you let mummy get me coal? Her calling her
- 19:23Speaker 2: mum mummy at 30 years of age just tells me
- 19:25Speaker 2: everything I need to know about her personality.
- 19:27Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 19:28Speaker 2: Well, the big question for me is what is she
- 19:30Speaker 2: getting on Christmas Day? Like how do you top these
- 19:32Speaker 2: extravagant gifts? Surely it's some holiday or something. No, well,
- 19:35Speaker 2: she already got given a trip to Paris for the weekend. Yeah, yeah,
- 19:39Speaker 2: probably a car. Also, was she buying a husband? A
- 19:41Speaker 2: lot of people have been asking, well, what are you
- 19:43Speaker 2: getting him? And she said she's working on it. So
- 19:45Speaker 2: are people picking up sort of sugar dad vibes? Is
- 19:47Speaker 2: that what's sort of going on here? No, so she's
- 19:49Speaker 2: actually the one. that appears to have the money in
- 19:51Speaker 2: this relationship. So it points even more to the fact
- 19:54Speaker 2: that this is some massive brand deal. Also, the fact
- 19:57Speaker 2: that in her Instagram bio, it reads that she's a
- 19:59Speaker 2: luxury brand strategist. Like this is clearly... some big strategy
- 20:03Speaker 2: she has put together and it is really working. She's
- 20:05Speaker 2: clearly good at what she does. I mean, these videos
- 20:08Speaker 2: have received so much engagement. It's a new way to
- 20:10Speaker 2: get people excited about certain luxury gifts. It's pretty brilliant.
- 20:14Speaker 2: I mean, she's got everyone hooked and I know there's
- 20:16Speaker 2: been mounting criticism that it's consumerism at its worst and
- 20:20Speaker 2: she should be donating gifts to children, but I do
- 20:24Speaker 2: think we just need to enjoy it for what it is.
- 20:26Speaker 2: It's a bit of Christmas escapism at its best. Well,
- 20:29Speaker 2: I think that is all we have time for today.
- 20:31Speaker 2: Thank you so much for joining us for this special
- 20:33Speaker 2: Bite Size episode. We really enjoyed putting it together. If

- 20:44Speaker 2: And I think it's much needed, particularly when every other
- 20:47Speaker 2: podcast is off on holidays at the moment, there's nothing
- 20:49Speaker 2: around to listen to. So if you want to get
- 20:52Speaker 2: a dose of even more influence from pop culture news,
- 20:54Speaker 2: sign up to Outspoken Plus. It's a great Christmas present.
- 20:57Speaker 2: I mean, it is, and it's very cheap. It's the
- 20:59Speaker 2: perfect gift, I'd say. A gift for yourself as well.
- 21:02Speaker 4: It's $ 5.
- 21:02Speaker 2: 99 a month. You get four episodes a month. I mean,
- 21:05Speaker 2: it's actually almost too cheap, I'd say. Sophie's a really
- 21:08Speaker 2: hard seller.
- 21:08Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 21:09Speaker 2: Well, this episode was recorded on the traditional land of
- 21:12Speaker 2: the Kaurna people of the Adelaide Plains. We pay respect
- 21:15Speaker 2: to elders past and present, and I hope everyone is
- 21:17Speaker 2: starting to feel a bit more festive. I know I
- 21:20Speaker 2: certainly am.
