- 2:43to tell them. Sunny mornings send you. In local
- 2:48news. As the 4th of July approaches, Boston is
- 2:52preparing for an influx of holiday travelers,
- 2:55with AAA estimating around 72 million people
- 2:59will travel nationwide, including 61 million
- 3:03by car, despite high gas prices. Massachusetts
- 3:07Department of Transportation expects Thursday
- 3:09and Friday to be the busiest days, particularly
- 3:12during midday into the evening, with heavier
- 3:15traffic expected heading into Cape Cod on July
- 3:174th. and returning on Sunday. State Highway Administrator
- 3:22Jonathan Gilliver advises travelers to plan ahead,
- 3:26allow extra time, and drive safely to enjoy the
- 3:29holiday celebrations across the state. Meanwhile,
- 3:33the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority
- 3:35will operate on holiday schedules, including
- 3:38a Saturday service for the subways and buses,
- 3:41and a special $10 holiday weekend pass for unlimited
- 3:45travel. Travelers using Logan Airport are also
- 3:49advised to arrive early due to anticipated high
- 3:52traffic. Now on to sports. It's not coming home
- 4:01yet. How England's World Cup runs have ended
- 4:04by bad luck, bad play, and the hand of God. As
- 4:08rallying cries go, it's coming home isn't a terrible
- 4:11one, but it isn't a complete one either. English
- 4:15football fans comfort themselves with the belief
- 4:18that it's coming home, but there is no actual
- 4:21deadline for when it will come home. The Three
- 4:24Lions won the World Cup in 1966, but since then
- 4:28it has been a long slog of broken dreams and
- 4:31dashed hopes. On Wednesday, England faces the
- 4:34Democratic Republic of Congo in Atlanta, a town
- 4:38that knows extended sports futility. In local
- 4:42sports. The Red Sox are looking to salvage their
- 4:45homestand this afternoon at Fenway, hosting the
- 4:48Nationals in a rubber match at 135. Boston dropped
- 4:53game 2 -8 -3 last night in a rough outing. The
- 4:56bullpen couldn't hold up after starter Connolly
- 4:59Early kept things tight through four innings.
- 5:03Nationals pitcher Cade Cavalli was dominant with
- 5:06seven innings of one hit ball and 13 strikeouts.
- 5:10There was also a heated exchange between Cavalli
- 5:13and Red Sox first baseman Wilson Contreras that
- 5:17MLB is reviewing. The good news. Boston Tub Game
- 5:22won 6 -3 Monday and has won four of its last
- 5:26five, so momentum's still there. Peyton Tall
- 5:29faces Andrew Alvarez today in a matchup that
- 5:33could define the series for a Sox team sitting
- 5:36at 37 -47. Meanwhile, the Celtics are in full
- 5:41off -season mode. According to ESPN's Brian Windhorst,
- 5:46Boston is actively making trade offers involving
- 5:49Jalen Brown and searching for help after missing
- 5:52out on Giannis. The team had Brown as the centerpiece
- 5:56of their Giannis offer before Miami landed the
- 6:00two -time MVP. How this plays out, whether the
- 6:04Celtics repair things with their all -NBA guard
- 6:07or pull the trigger on a deal, will shape the
- 6:10franchise going forward. In top news, it could
- 6:16be the hottest July 4th ever for millions of
- 6:19Americans, with over 300 record temperatures
- 6:22forecast. This July 4th could be the hottest
- 6:26on record as a massive heat wave traps more than
- 6:29half of the United States under a heat dome through
- 6:32the holiday weekend. Dangerously high temperatures,
- 6:35coupled with humidity, could result in heat indices
- 6:38of 100 to 115 degrees from the Midwest to the
- 6:43East Coast. New York City Mayor Zorin Mamdani
- 6:47warned that these are extremely dangerous conditions.
- 6:51The city is opening cooling centers throughout
- 6:54the five boroughs and deploying vans staffed
- 6:57with nurses and paramedics to assist residents.
- 7:01In business news, small -cap United States stocks
- 7:05are capping off one of their strongest first
- 7:08halves in decades, and this is not your ordinary
- 7:11small -cap boom. This surge has been driven by
- 7:15the rapid build -out of artificial intelligence
- 7:17infrastructure. expanding beyond the largest
- 7:20technology companies. The Russell 2000 index
- 7:24has surged nearly 22 % this year, marking its
- 7:28best first -half performance since 1991. Semiconductor
- 7:33companies have been the biggest winners, with
- 7:35chip -related companies accounting for 16 of
- 7:38the Russell, 2000's 50 best -performing stocks.
- 7:42However, higher interest rates pose a significant
- 7:45threat to the small -cap rally. Many investors
- 7:49believe the worst of the tightening cycle is
- 7:51over and headwinds are turning into tailwinds.
- 7:55In crypto movement, Bitcoin is unchanged at just
- 8:00under $60 ,000. Ethereum is up 1 % to just under
- 8:05$1 ,600. And XRP is unchanged at $1 .05. Moving

- 9:03is considering sending a spare nuclear -powered
- 9:06Mars rover to the lunar surface, with an update
- 9:08shared on June 30th. The agency announced new
- 9:12lunar landing contracts and a potential rover
- 9:15mission to the moon's south pole. NASA Administrator
- 9:19Jared Isaacman emphasized the importance of learning
- 9:22from past experiences, saying, we are in the
- 9:25business of the near -impossible, so why not?
- 9:29The rover, named POROMISS, stands for Polar Rover
- 9:34for Observation, Mapping, and In -Situ Exploration.
- 9:38and was developed at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory.
- 9:41With refurbishment, ProMice could advance NASA's
- 9:45lunar plans as it operates on a radioisotope
- 9:48thermoelectric generator requiring no sunlight.
- 9:54And in entertainment news, A Shock for Killers
- 9:59is one of Disney Plus' biggest Korean streaming
- 10:02hits, and it will premiere its second season
- 10:04on July 22. The series continues with Jeong Jae
- 10:08-in, played by Kim Hye -jun, who is now the head
- 10:11of Mirth Help, and her uncle Jeong Jin -man,
- 10:14played by Lee Dong -wook, who faked his death
- 10:17in the first season. Together, they will confront
- 10:20Babylon, a mercenary outfit that previously hunted
- 10:24Jae -in. The new season includes eight episodes,
- 10:27starting with two on July 22nd, and lad pairs
- 10:31each Wednesday through the August 12th finale.
- 10:34A shop for killers streams on Disney, plus internationally
- 10:38and on Hulu in the United States. Well, alrighty
- 10:43folks, it's time for the quote of the day. And
- 10:47today, our quote comes from the American writer
- 10:49and philosopher, Henry David Thoreau. And he
- 10:54said, The world is but a canvas to our imagination.
- 10:58Reminding us that innovation and creativity can
