- 0:00Speaker 1: Four Finger discounted series.
- 0:18Speaker 2: Hey guys, welcome to Forefinger discount a very special episode
- 0:20Speaker 2: of four figure DISCA.
- 0:21Speaker 3: We've got some breaking news, don't we miss Davious?
- 0:23Speaker 1: We do, indeed, Hot off the presses, fresh out of LA.
- 0:28Speaker 2: Four more years, More Years, four more Yeah.
- 0:32Speaker 1: Well yeah, let's cut right to the chase. The Simpsons
- 0:35Speaker 1: is going to go through till season forty. Yeah. And
- 0:39Speaker 1: not just that, but animation is having a big day
- 0:43Speaker 1: for animation, big day for Fox Animation. I might say people.
- 0:46Speaker 2: Were really scared because Simpsons season thirty seven hadn't been
- 0:50Speaker 2: a new year. Normally it's been announced by now when
- 0:52Speaker 2: there's a new season of The Simpsons.
- 0:54Speaker 3: And now I may go a little scoot.
- 0:55Speaker 2: When I interviewed my man Michael Price several months ago
- 0:58Speaker 2: last year and revealed that they're working on trios of
- 1:01Speaker 2: horror for next year, and I'm thinking, well, they're not
- 1:04Speaker 2: gonna be working on next year's Tres Borrow. They don't
- 1:06Speaker 2: have word that they're probably going to get renewed. But
- 1:08Speaker 2: of course I sort of put.
- 1:09Speaker 3: That out there and they're like, no, it hasn't been
- 1:10Speaker 3: announced yet, No, there's no official no. I was like, oh, okay,
- 1:13Speaker 3: then we'll see what happens.
- 1:15Speaker 1: Then it turns out trust you with a secret, good Lord.
- 1:17Speaker 2: It turns out that season thirty seven through season forty
- 1:21Speaker 2: has now been officially announced. But Nosy said not just
- 1:25Speaker 2: the Simpsons, his family Guy, American Dad and Bobsberger's, which
- 1:28Speaker 2: I think is fantastic news that Fox is still in
- 1:30Speaker 2: Disney are committed to focusing on animation because they were
- 1:35Speaker 2: worrying signs that season thirty seven might not be happening
- 1:38Speaker 2: for the Simpsons, because I had been so since its announced.
- 1:40Speaker 2: But officially here this is the first time to announced
- 1:42Speaker 2: this many years in one go.
- 1:44Speaker 1: It feels like a real sort of big swing, doesn't it. Yeah,
- 1:48Speaker 1: or just letting let everyone know that they have faith
- 1:51Speaker 1: in animation in general and these properties in particular. To
- 1:55Speaker 1: quote Michael Thorne, President of the Fox Television Network, this
- 1:58Speaker 1: new deal celebrates the ternal popularity of these iconic comedies
- 2:02Speaker 1: as well as the enduring, prolific relationship we continue to
- 2:05Speaker 1: enjoy with our friends at twentieth twentieth television animation.
- 2:09Speaker 3: It doesn't make sense, it doesn't read right.
- 2:11Speaker 2: The twentieth television, No, the twentieth century television and twentieth television.
- 2:15Speaker 1: It's just twentieth television. Yeah, yeah, but it.
- 2:17Speaker 3: Doesn't roll at the time. Twentieth television, twentieth television.
- 2:20Speaker 2: No, it's almost like twentieth century Fox is what comes
- 2:23Speaker 2: off the times we're so used to saying it.
- 2:26Speaker 1: It's like saying Dan Do and Guy rather than Guy
- 2:28Speaker 1: and Dando. Yes, that go, and incredible voices behind these
- 2:32Speaker 1: contemporary classics. So yes, a lot of faith, as I said,
- 2:36Speaker 1: in these particular titles animation in general, are from the
- 2:39Speaker 1: fine folks at Fox. So yes, yeah, it's gonna take
- 2:43Speaker 1: Simpsons up to what's season forty, It'll be Bob Burger's
- 2:46Speaker 1: up to season season nineteen to Bob's Burgers.
- 2:49Speaker 3: That's me and season twenty seven of Family Guy. That
- 2:51Speaker 3: says here as well.
- 2:51Speaker 1: That is wild and your seasons twenty through twenty three
- 2:54Speaker 1: of American Dad.
- 2:55Speaker 2: You know what I've noticed here with all the marketing,
- 2:57Speaker 2: they've gone Family Guy, Bob Bergers, and the Simpsons.
- 3:00Speaker 3: Oh an American Dad, American Dad's pine. So why is
- 3:03Speaker 3: that why?
- 3:04Speaker 1: That's a really good question.
- 3:06Speaker 2: On the X Reports and all the things it all said,
- 3:08Speaker 2: Family Guy and the Simpsons and Bob's Burgers all the back. Oh,
- 3:11Speaker 2: and an American dad as well. Well, why are you
- 3:14Speaker 2: nies together?
- 3:15Speaker 3: It doesn't make sense.
- 3:16Speaker 1: American Dad has been going longer than Bob's.
- 3:18Speaker 3: Burgers, bogs much better.
- 3:21Speaker 1: That is absolutely true. But yeah, it's once again a
- 3:24Speaker 1: case of animation domination. That was always the Fox slogan.
- 3:28Speaker 3: Great great branding. That is animation domination.
- 3:32Speaker 1: I haven't seen such a good case of branding since
- 3:35Speaker 1: Daniel coppyrighted the name full Finger discap.
- 3:37Speaker 2: Indeed, yes, so this year I think is very exciting news.
- 3:41Speaker 2: I you're a Simpsons fan, Granted, there are a lot
- 3:43Speaker 2: of people out there who don't watch Simpsons anymore, but
- 3:45Speaker 2: this is just proof that there are people watching this show.
- 3:48Speaker 2: If you want to be one of those listeners, one
- 3:50Speaker 2: of those fans of the Simpsons that says should have
- 3:52Speaker 2: should be canceled by now, this just goes to show
- 3:54Speaker 2: to you that you're wrong. You're completely wrong, because Disney
- 3:58Speaker 2: are not going to be investing for four more years
- 4:00Speaker 2: or twentieth Television I can be investing four more years
- 4:03Speaker 2: in this show if it wasn't bringing in viewers. There
- 4:06Speaker 2: is still the most what show, one of the most
- 4:08Speaker 2: what shows on Disney Plus. Granted that's based off a
- 4:10Speaker 2: lot of the reruns as well the original episodes. But
- 4:13Speaker 2: still I, as a Simpsons fan, will still put on
- 4:16Speaker 2: a new episode of when I see it pop up
- 4:17Speaker 2: on my feet, I'm like, okay, call another new Simpsons episode.
- 4:19Speaker 2: A lot of them for me when a new season starts,
- 4:21Speaker 2: I usually watched the first five or six, and then
- 4:23Speaker 2: I wane for a while and then I just binge
- 4:25Speaker 2: watched towards the end. But I think with today's modern
- 4:29Speaker 2: viewing capabilities, with the streaming service of Disney Plus, we
- 4:32Speaker 2: now get the episodes the same week. Never used to
- 4:34Speaker 2: be that way in Australia, so now it's easier than
- 4:36Speaker 2: ever to watch a new episode of The Simpsons. Whether
- 4:38Speaker 2: this means that these episodes are going to be airing
- 4:40Speaker 2: on Fox, it is for Fox, isn't It's.
- 4:42Speaker 3: Not going to be going straight to streaming.
- 4:43Speaker 1: I believe so.
- 4:44Speaker 3: Yeah, so it's for Fox.
- 4:45Speaker 2: That's also exciting news because it means that they're not
- 4:48Speaker 2: going to be moving the show to a Disney Plus exclusive.
- 4:50Speaker 3: I thought when they started doing these.
- 4:52Speaker 2: Recent Disney Plus exclusive episodes, I thought, is this the
- 4:55Speaker 2: first sign of The Simpsons eventually being taken off TV
- 4:58Speaker 2: and being just a Disney Plus exclusive show, which I
- 5:00Speaker 2: hope never happened.
- 5:01Speaker 1: I don't think they're ever going to do that, you
- 5:02Speaker 1: don't think.
- 5:02Speaker 3: I think they may, but maybe this has proved that
- 5:05Speaker 3: they won't.
- 5:05Speaker 2: Because if they're ever going to do it, it felt
- 5:08Speaker 2: like now was the time.
- 5:09Speaker 1: Oh absolutely, well, the ways, you know, the entertainment landscape
- 5:12Speaker 1: is constantly shifting and constantly sort of being re evaluated. Yeah, yeah,
- 5:16Speaker 1: I mean it is show business after all, and you
- 5:19Speaker 1: know they're looking for ways to sort of maximize their produits.
- 5:23Speaker 1: I think they realize that The Simpsons not only has
- 5:25Speaker 1: continued to have commercial viability, that's something that a lot
- 5:28Speaker 1: of people really enjoy watching and really enjoy watching regularly
- 5:32Speaker 1: and enjoy watching, you know, as say a family even then, Yeah,
- 5:37Speaker 1: they'll want to keep it in a way that as
- 5:39Speaker 1: many people can watch it as possible. I think they all.
- 5:42Speaker 1: I think this also shows they have a lot of
- 5:43Speaker 1: faith in it as a creative product. They realize that
- 5:47Speaker 1: there's still there's still legs in it, there's still juice
- 5:50Speaker 1: in the tank.
- 5:51Speaker 2: I'm absolutely flabbergasted that Family Guy has last twenty seven seasons.
- 5:55Speaker 3: Call me crazy. I've never been the biggest fan of
- 5:58Speaker 3: Family Guy. But for them, even the.
- 6:00Speaker 2: Same as American Dad, for these shows are still be existing,
- 6:04Speaker 2: full credit to them.
- 6:05Speaker 1: Oh yeah, absolutely, it must be.
- 6:07Speaker 3: People must still be watching these shows.
- 6:08Speaker 2: And it's not just because they want to be able
- 6:10Speaker 2: to say we have the Simpsons on our network. If
- 6:12Speaker 2: they weren't bringing in viewers, they wouldn't be investing four
- 6:15Speaker 2: more years in these in these licenses.
- 6:17Speaker 1: Oh yeah, I mean we're not just talking about Oh look,
- 6:19Speaker 1: we're going to give you another nine episodes on the
- 6:21Speaker 1: back end, just to see if people are still watching
- 6:23Speaker 1: over four years a big commitment and four years before programs. Yeah,
- 6:27Speaker 1: it shows a commitment to animation and yeah, as we said,
- 6:30Speaker 1: shows a real commitment to these programs and shows that, Yeah,
- 6:33Speaker 1: there's still plenty of stories to be told, plenty of
- 6:35Speaker 1: creative ground to be covered. So yeah, it's really very,
- 6:40Speaker 1: very encouraging.
- 6:41Speaker 2: I was really happy when I saw this news this morning.
- 6:43Speaker 2: When I first thought and now Simpsons, I thought it's
- 6:47Speaker 2: a cancelation. No, it's a cancelation. I for the first
- 6:50Speaker 2: time in my life, I thought a Simpsons coming to
- 6:54Speaker 2: an end news story was going to break. I thought,
- 6:58Speaker 2: it feels like now might be the top they Simpsons
- 7:00Speaker 2: isn't ending, it's just shifting the Disney. Plus, I'm just
- 7:03Speaker 2: so thankful that they've got four more years, and while
- 7:06Speaker 2: done to all the staff as well, We've got lots
- 7:08Speaker 2: of friends that work on the show as well, so
- 7:10Speaker 2: I'm so excited for them four more years of their jobs.
- 7:13Speaker 3: It's just the Simpsons is a show that I hope
- 7:15Speaker 3: never ends. Do you think the Simpsons will ever end?
- 7:17Speaker 3: I don't think the Simpsons.
- 7:18Speaker 2: Will ever end if they're still getting four more years now,
- 7:20Speaker 2: I just can't see unless TV.
- 7:23Speaker 3: There's twentieth Television that's it. I can't see the Simpsons ending.
- 7:27Speaker 1: I think it's I think it's locked in for a
- 7:29Speaker 1: fair while. Yeah, I think it's not going to be
- 7:31Speaker 1: a case of The Simpsons being canceled so much as
- 7:33Speaker 1: you just the way we take in entertainment changing as well.
- 7:38Speaker 3: I think it's good for them.
- 7:39Speaker 2: It's good for the writers too, because now they're safe
- 7:41Speaker 2: in their gigs and they there's not this fear of
- 7:44Speaker 2: will I won't I. So it's like they can just
- 7:45Speaker 2: relax now and focus on producing quality writing content. You know,
- 7:51Speaker 2: don't worry about you gig. You're safe. Pump Out Classic
- 7:54Speaker 2: Simpsons again.
- 7:55Speaker 1: Yeah, just make good comedy, be more funny.
- 8:00Speaker 3: Really what we're TV.
- 8:03Speaker 1: And yeah, look all these shows, yeah, remain popular to
- 8:06Speaker 1: some degree. Especially I'm looking into some figures here that
- 8:09Speaker 1: in twenty twenty four, Family Guy and Bob's Burger's were
- 8:12Speaker 1: among the two most streamed titles. This is according to
- 8:15Speaker 1: US Metrics. Yeah, pulling in let's see forty two point
- 8:19Speaker 1: forty four billion and thirty six point seventy nine billion
- 8:23Speaker 1: minutes viewed, respectively. That's still a lot of minutes.
- 8:26Speaker 2: You know what it is about Family Guy. Family Guy
- 8:28Speaker 2: feels like this isn't putting it down Springles. It feels
- 8:32Speaker 2: like jog food. So someone can put on, get a
- 8:34Speaker 2: feelafs out of it and move on. Simpsons, you kind
- 8:36Speaker 2: of know, it's more like a story you've got to commit.
- 8:39Speaker 3: Family Guys.
- 8:39Speaker 1: You feel like you put on gag, gag, gag, watch.
- 8:41Speaker 2: Ten fifteen minutes of it and someone's like, yeah, I've
- 8:43Speaker 2: had my fill, I've had my fix.
- 8:44Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, and I can move on with my day.
- 8:46Speaker 1: But also you can lose it works yeah, and you
- 8:48Speaker 1: can leave it on in the background and just you know,
- 8:49Speaker 1: sort of it's not as story dependent as yeah, say
- 8:52Speaker 1: something like the Simpsons. There are stories, but of course
- 8:55Speaker 1: there are, but it's more sort of joke dependent. There's
- 8:58Speaker 1: room for both, there's room.
- 8:59Speaker 3: For all so an American Day.
- 9:02Speaker 1: And there's also that for some reason, No, no, I
- 9:05Speaker 1: mean American.
- 9:07Speaker 2: Dad was the one I never really gravitated towards. I've
- 9:10Speaker 2: got my uncle Darren Patron Saint, we call me at
- 9:12Speaker 2: four figure Discount network.
- 9:14Speaker 3: He loves Roger on America.
- 9:16Speaker 2: And every one of these shows has their their Vender,
- 9:19Speaker 2: you know, Vender's Future.
- 9:21Speaker 1: Yeah, all the Steward Futurama.
- 9:23Speaker 2: For more seasons. But they're not on Fox anymore though either.
- 9:30Speaker 1: They're on Hulu, I believe.
- 9:32Speaker 2: So.
- 9:32Speaker 1: Yeah, but all these things are kind of intertwined and connected. Yes,
- 9:36Speaker 1: But but the upshot is more of it's being made,
- 9:40Speaker 1: and more of it is being made in an ongoing way.
- 9:43Speaker 2: Yeah, and it's exciting news for animation fans. But this
- 9:47Speaker 2: has just been we thought we just do a little

- 10:06Speaker 1: the things that sort of went under the radar in
- 10:07Speaker 1: this announcement as well. Fox's other animated series include Universal
- 10:11Speaker 1: Basic Guys. Sorry, I'm watched an episode that's Universal Basic
- 10:17Speaker 1: Guys's already got a season two and Kropopolis that's Dan
