- 0:51Speaker 2: we living? How we feeling?
- 0:52Speaker 4: Oh?
- 0:52Speaker 5: We are doing good man.
- 0:54Speaker 4: It is uh really starting to get the hang of
- 0:57Speaker 4: this waking up early situation out of myself. I woke
- 1:00Speaker 4: up before the alarm went off today. Alarms usually at
- 1:03Speaker 4: five thirty, all right, I was like five twenty one.
- 1:06Speaker 2: I've been ten minutes before mine. I'm a five forty,
- 1:10Speaker 2: all right, five forty alarm by forty alarms.
- 1:12Speaker 4: Some people work a little bit harder than others.
- 1:15Speaker 6: Long as I'm here at four seven.
- 1:17Speaker 4: So I got a five thirty, I got a five forty,
- 1:19Speaker 4: I got a five forty five, and I got a
- 1:21Speaker 4: five fifty set I like that.
- 1:23Speaker 7: I'm the same way. Yeah, I need constant just in case, justin.
- 1:28Speaker 5: To have on the edge. I sept one alarm.
- 1:30Speaker 6: Oh that is psycho behavior. That is behavior I have.
- 1:34Speaker 2: I have the alarm to get up and then I
- 1:36Speaker 2: have a oh blank, you overslept.
- 1:39Speaker 6: This is the last alarm. You better get up.
- 1:43Speaker 5: The gt FU.
- 1:44Speaker 2: Yeah that that that's going off probably like you know
- 1:47Speaker 2: twice in the five years I've been here, but that
- 1:49Speaker 2: thing goes off.
- 1:51Speaker 6: It is code red Meatia, get out of bed and go.
- 1:55Speaker 4: So this past this past weekend, I was Saturday morning,
- 2:00Speaker 4: and so you know, last Friday was my birthday, so
- 2:03Speaker 4: it was you know, I had a birthday trip, but
- 2:06Speaker 4: it was my actual birthday this past Friday.
- 2:07Speaker 5: So we we got together with some people.
- 2:09Speaker 4: Had a couple of uh you know, libations, libations. I
- 2:13Speaker 4: got a little loose, had a good time, a little celebration.
- 2:17Speaker 4: Woke up Saturday morn.
- 2:18Speaker 2: Lest year you left here. I was like, hey, yeah,
- 2:22Speaker 2: y'all do anything. Nither like we've already partied enough.
- 2:26Speaker 6: We're not going to do anything. Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 2:29Speaker 6: I said that.
- 2:30Speaker 5: But you know, sometimes the wind carries you different directions.
- 2:33Speaker 4: I thought you were so I wake up Saturday morning
- 2:36Speaker 4: and like you're kind of like, oh man, it's a little.
- 2:39Speaker 5: Foggy right now.
- 2:40Speaker 4: I look at my clock and it's like six fifty three,
- 2:44Speaker 4: and I pop out of bed and I'm like, oh blank,
- 2:46Speaker 4: blank blank, and I start running out of bed.
- 2:49Speaker 5: And Lacy has to pop up and say, man, it's Saturday, Saturday.
- 2:53Speaker 5: It was one of those terrible Yeah. I didn't really
- 2:57Speaker 5: realize it, But that's how committed I am that.
- 2:59Speaker 6: I actually it's pretty committed.
- 3:01Speaker 2: I'm proud of you because the old Matt would have
- 3:04Speaker 2: just been expected to get here like seven oh eight.
- 3:06Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 3:06Speaker 4: I was like in my head for that split like
- 3:08Speaker 4: for those like three or four seconds before my wife
- 3:10Speaker 4: stopped me. It was like I was like, man, I
- 3:12Speaker 4: gotta text everybody, Man can I Can I make it
- 3:15Speaker 4: in seven minutes?
- 3:16Speaker 2: Where you gonna send me the same picture that you
- 3:18Speaker 2: used to send me with hanging with hester Hey, traffic,
- 3:21Speaker 2: say get there?
- 3:24Speaker 5: Really weird today pre seven am traffic?
- 3:26Speaker 2: What's the last possible moment time wise you could leave
- 3:30Speaker 2: your house and still be here for the start of
- 3:32Speaker 2: the show.
- 3:35Speaker 4: What a difference like an hour makes Because when I
- 3:37Speaker 4: used to come for eight, if I left my house
- 3:41Speaker 4: after like seven thirty four. Yeah, I couldn't get here,
- 3:45Speaker 4: yeah right, I mean I would show up like it
- 3:48Speaker 4: right in the parking lot at like eight eight.
- 3:49Speaker 6: Yeah, and then when you hear us talking trash about you.
- 3:51Speaker 4: Yeah, Now, I mean I bet I could get here.
- 3:56Speaker 4: I bet I could leave at six forty and get
- 3:58Speaker 4: here like as the mike's turning.
- 4:00Speaker 6: That's me if I six forty, Yeah, I leave a
- 4:04Speaker 6: minute later.
- 4:05Speaker 4: Why don't you just like give yourself a little five
- 4:07Speaker 4: minute buffer just in case, so you know, I don't
- 4:11Speaker 4: even have to start the show by myself.
- 4:13Speaker 6: Oh I do, I do? I usually, Uh so I
- 4:16Speaker 6: have to.
- 4:17Speaker 2: I usually take my son Jackson to football practice as well.
- 4:21Speaker 6: He didn't have to be there until seven thirty.
- 4:23Speaker 2: So it's like, you know, it's like I can't drive
- 4:26Speaker 2: out too early.
- 4:27Speaker 6: So every day that's the Katie's bringing him today.
- 4:32Speaker 2: So I felt bad for the fellow yesterday when I
- 4:35Speaker 2: was going to drop him off and the gate wasn't
- 4:37Speaker 2: even open yet. Yeah, it's a long wait, long wait,
- 4:41Speaker 2: a long wait knowing you got like workout and in
- 4:44Speaker 2: agility and all that coming up.
- 4:45Speaker 6: Jake, I was that kid.
- 4:47Speaker 7: My dad would have to drop me off at at
- 4:48Speaker 7: school early, so I was definitely but granted was like
- 4:51Speaker 7: a couple of us, so I wouldn't be alone. But no,
- 4:54Speaker 7: that's it's just straight mind games at that point, especially
- 4:56Speaker 7: you know if you got to run that afternoon or
- 4:58Speaker 7: you just know it's like, oh, today's day, run conditioning
- 5:00Speaker 7: day one tens. Oh mind games. You're just chugging water,
- 5:04Speaker 7: just trying to get some water down.
- 5:05Speaker 5: We'll look at you now, man, it paid off.
- 5:06Speaker 6: Yeah, you know, working radio, So I don't know. Oh no,
- 5:10Speaker 6: I'll tell you this though. I'll tell you this though.
- 5:12Speaker 7: I do miss those days of just having nothing to do,
- 5:15Speaker 7: but but practice, like just go home and do you.
- 5:18Speaker 6: Have no Yeah. I mean look, summertime, you're a kid,
- 5:20Speaker 6: you don't have starts at seven thirty. He gets picked
- 5:22Speaker 6: up at ten and that's it.
- 5:24Speaker 7: Yeah, whole day. Yeah, run around, play the game, do whatever,
- 5:27Speaker 7: hang with friends. Like those are the good days, man,
- 5:29Speaker 7: you know.
- 5:30Speaker 2: Those were the good days. You're right, you're right. Even
- 5:32Speaker 2: in college now, we were supposed to go to class.
- 5:34Speaker 2: I'm not always saying it happened. Yeah, but you know,
- 5:38Speaker 2: but summer workout, you'd have the rest of your day
- 5:41Speaker 2: after Mafitt would just shame us into coming to the
- 5:43Speaker 2: early group.
- 5:44Speaker 4: We were just so committed to unless you football, you
- 5:47Speaker 4: didn't really know what we wanted to study.
- 5:49Speaker 7: You know, you didn't come to school to play school,
- 5:51Speaker 7: came here to play ball.
- 5:55Speaker 6: Jake Brown kind of said the same. I mean, really,
- 5:58Speaker 6: I didn't come here to play school.
- 6:00Speaker 2: We're not scholars, Uh, Jordan, how we feeling were good?
- 6:04Speaker 2: I see what the throwback Mariners had on.
- 6:08Speaker 6: They've been they've been cooking a little bit.
- 6:10Speaker 2: They have flints and a Mariner's fun fact right before
- 6:13Speaker 2: the show.
- 6:15Speaker 4: I told you is L s U Baseball. I guess
- 6:18Speaker 4: technically over, we got some celebrating dick to remaining to do.
- 6:21Speaker 4: But like I gotta get my fixed somehow, So I
- 6:25Speaker 4: guess it's to the Major League Baseball, to the to
- 6:28Speaker 4: the Mariners.
- 6:30Speaker 2: I've never heard somebody say to the Major League Baseball,
- 6:33Speaker 2: the Major League Baseball.
- 6:34Speaker 6: Okay, Mariners, that's gonna be your squad. That's what you're
- 6:37Speaker 6: rolling with, Seattle.
- 6:38Speaker 4: I mean, this is gonna be a huge tease. We
- 6:41Speaker 4: got some big Mariner's stats coming later in the show. Okay,
- 6:43Speaker 4: all right, people are gonna be tuning in.
- 6:45Speaker 6: I know who should go with him, you or Jordan.
- 6:47Speaker 2: Jordan's got the Mariner's hat on Jordan, Can you name
- 6:49Speaker 2: me your favorite Mariner right now?
- 6:52Speaker 7: I mean I'm I can do Julio Rodriguez and be obvious,
- 6:55Speaker 7: but I like the pitcher Brian Wu.
- 6:57Speaker 6: Okay he went last night. Yeah, good for you. I know,
- 7:01Speaker 6: watch a little ball now.
- 7:03Speaker 2: Yeah, well, I mean typically where the Cardinals hat? And
- 7:05Speaker 2: you got no Cardinals facts.
- 7:08Speaker 6: Arena. That's about it. That's one. Yeah, got better than.
- 7:15Speaker 5: Oh man, we are good.
- 7:16Speaker 6: How was he had the birthday yesterday? It was great.
- 7:19Speaker 8: Victoria's side of the family came over. It was uh,
- 7:22Speaker 8: it was nice. I'll tell you what, though, my family's
- 7:25Speaker 8: in a little bit of trouble.
- 7:26Speaker 6: Your family's in trouble, what they say.
- 7:30Speaker 8: Nobody on my side of the family text Victoria happy birthday.
- 7:34Speaker 8: When I mean dad, mom, sister, brother, no one, uncle.
- 7:40Speaker 8: My uncle's on Facebook all the time like he sees it.
- 7:43Speaker 8: The only one that did is my brother in law
- 7:46Speaker 8: texted her.
- 7:47Speaker 6: Wow.
- 7:47Speaker 8: She told me, she goes. She told me like three o'clock.
- 7:50Speaker 8: She's like, I still just don't tell them. I want
- 7:52Speaker 8: to see if they get it. Not one, but that's
- 7:56Speaker 8: pretty man.
- 7:58Speaker 1: Not one.
- 7:59Speaker 6: How do we feel that's kind.
- 8:01Speaker 5: Of it's a little bit on you.
- 8:02Speaker 8: I think so they knew, like we just we took
- 8:07Speaker 8: a little like trip to base.
- 8:10Speaker 5: Reminder a little side text. Well, she told me not to,
- 8:12Speaker 5: she said, don't do it, but at what time, like you.
- 8:15Speaker 4: Get money throw you should have thrown that out there
- 8:17Speaker 4: during the show yesterday.
- 8:18Speaker 8: I mean I said it on at nine am. If
- 8:21Speaker 8: they not tuning in, that's on them. But they knew
- 8:23Speaker 8: we went to Bay Saint Louis. You know, we were
- 8:25Speaker 8: in a house on the water and everything. So like
- 8:27Speaker 8: they knew that was for her birthday. I'm like, okay,
- 8:29Speaker 8: maybe they thought her birthday was this weekend. They didn't
- 8:32Speaker 8: send one then either, so oh man, it's like it's
- 8:35Speaker 8: not like they sent it earlier. She had a little
- 8:42Speaker 8: she had a little sixteen candles. Oh my yes, it
- 8:44Speaker 8: ain't nobody.
- 8:45Speaker 6: Oh bad news.
- 8:48Speaker 2: I know, it's bad news, like news I've had it
- 8:51Speaker 2: where like maybe maybe like you know, one of of
- 8:56Speaker 2: Katie's siblings like kind of forgot maybe, but they're like
- 8:59Speaker 2: they're they're typically like the first people that write me,
- 9:01Speaker 2: your Katie's sisters, her brother, her mom or dad.
- 9:04Speaker 6: Like it's right after like my mom is like one
- 9:06Speaker 6: of her siblings.
- 9:08Speaker 5: We got to set something.
- 9:08Speaker 2: If I if I went like O for that hurt,
- 9:14Speaker 2: I'm hurt for it.
- 9:14Speaker 6: Right now for dude, you I mean, I'm with Matt.
- 9:18Speaker 6: That's gonna follow on you regardless.
- 9:20Speaker 8: No, No, she's she's good because she told me do
- 9:24Speaker 8: not send them a reminder text and I did not.
- 9:26Speaker 5: She would have been mad if I did.
- 9:28Speaker 4: So do y'all uh do you have like so my
- 9:30Speaker 4: family have, like my side of the family have a
- 9:32Speaker 4: big group text and we.
- 9:34Speaker 8: Have a big we have a big group text that
- 9:37Speaker 8: Victoria is in and they were texting in it all days.
- 9:40Speaker 8: Oh no, time she picks up the phone and she's
- 9:44Speaker 8: like not not, Oh, this is brutal.
- 9:50Speaker 2: Because like to your point, like for Katie's family, like
- 9:54Speaker 2: you know, our family and then her whole family, we're
- 9:56Speaker 2: in one, but like then like we're in one with
- 9:58Speaker 2: like literally hurt in higher sure family and you know
- 10:02Speaker 2: a couple of us and like the birthday messages because
- 10:05Speaker 2: there's so many, so like every day it's like they're
- 10:07Speaker 2: propping off, right, there's.
- 10:09Speaker 8: No way to like remember everybody's birthday, right listening, do
- 10:14Speaker 8: you just text me your sister sent me happy birthday
- 10:17Speaker 8: at eleven o five last day.
- 10:19Speaker 2: Alright, alright, eleven o five counts fifty five minutes under
- 10:23Speaker 2: the clock.
- 10:25Speaker 6: Well time that it counts.
- 10:28Speaker 5: It really does count.
- 10:29Speaker 6: It's a buzzer beater, it is a buzzer. It does count, though,
- 10:32Speaker 6: fifty five minutes.
- 10:33Speaker 4: I will say, like in the group text, it depended
- 10:35Speaker 4: on like if it's a big So my side of
- 10:37Speaker 4: the family, there's a ton of ton of I got.
- 10:39Speaker 4: I'm the youngest of five, and they all have a
- 10:42Speaker 4: lot of kids, and most of them are old enough
- 10:44Speaker 4: to like be texting and having a phone.
- 10:45Speaker 5: So there's a ton of people on this group thread.
- 10:48Speaker 4: There's no way in hell to remember everybody in child's birthday.
- 10:53Speaker 6: Not children, but somebody.
- 10:56Speaker 4: Somebody pops off, somebody pops off in the group text,
- 10:59Speaker 4: and then everybody's like, oh yeah, happy birthday, blah, and
- 11:02Speaker 4: and sometimes it's their part of their like nuclear family,
- 11:06Speaker 4: Like it's like somebody's daughter that has a birthday. It's
- 11:10Speaker 4: the mom that's like, hey, happy birthday, and then it
- 11:12Speaker 4: sets off everybody. Oh yeah, yeah, so Taylor, you could
- 11:14Speaker 4: have in the group text just like hey sent a
- 11:17Speaker 4: picture with her, like with a birthday cake.
- 11:20Speaker 6: You know you got her a cake.
- 11:22Speaker 5: I was. I was told to say nothing.
- 11:25Speaker 6: I followed he was told to say like.
- 11:28Speaker 5: People in the chat are like, oh, Taylor, that's on you,
- 11:30Speaker 5: fornout cider.
- 11:31Speaker 8: Yeah, you gotta protect yourself. I followed the wife rules.
- 11:35Speaker 8: I followed the wife's rules.
- 11:36Speaker 5: Not to protect yourself.
- 11:37Speaker 6: Oh man, the sharps living with the sharks, they are well.
- 11:43Speaker 4: I think she could probably expect a lot of happy
- 11:45Speaker 4: belateds today.
- 11:46Speaker 6: Hey, she got me, she got one for me.
- 11:49Speaker 2: I don't know if your family listens to the show,
- 11:52Speaker 2: but there's some there's some sharps maybe listening right now
- 11:55Speaker 2: that are panicking, that has some sweaty palms right now.
- 12:00Speaker 6: Tighten up, sharps. Not very sharp, if you ask me.
- 12:04Speaker 8: My brother in law was the first one so like
- 12:07Speaker 8: not even my wife's husband was the only one that
- 12:10Speaker 8: text her yesterday.
- 12:12Speaker 6: It was like your wife's husband.
- 12:15Speaker 5: I mean, so you.
- 12:22Speaker 6: Let's call it walker not Utah.
- 12:24Speaker 8: I say, we're not taking a deep dive into the
- 12:26Speaker 8: marriage right now, but uh, my sister's husband.
- 12:31Speaker 6: Oh lord, this is wow. This is good radio.
- 12:36Speaker 2: Oh gosh, we had I had an opening segment.
- 12:40Speaker 6: I forgot. This is much more juice.
- 12:43Speaker 4: We're gonna see we get I think throughout the show
- 12:47Speaker 4: we should probably get a check in.
- 12:49Speaker 5: With you in the group chat. We'll get the update.
- 12:52Speaker 5: If they're not awake yet, maybe we hit this background hour.
- 12:55Speaker 6: Should actually cold call some of your family members.
- 12:58Speaker 8: I'll send the text like today, Hey, Victoria's party was
- 13:02Speaker 8: great last night? Ooh nobody, Yeah, and we'll see.
- 13:07Speaker 2: I think you should just send a picture. Did y'all
- 13:09Speaker 2: did you take a picture with the cake or something?
- 13:11Speaker 5: She has one? Yeah.
- 13:12Speaker 6: I think you should just send it in the group.
- 13:14Speaker 6: Not even say anything, just send it.
- 13:16Speaker 7: This is the definition of kicking over empire right now.
- 13:19Speaker 7: Set the ants off.
- 13:20Speaker 4: Maybe they were all like, uh together hunting out in
- 13:24Speaker 4: the woods with no service.
- 13:25Speaker 6: Yeah you know, yeah what hunting season? Is it right now?
- 13:28Speaker 2: Ah?
- 13:28Speaker 6: And then know there was one something yeah, something out there.
- 13:33Speaker 2: Get some true maybe a walker, it might be it
- 13:36Speaker 2: might be something some Joey says, I texted my sister
- 13:40Speaker 2: last year. She then told my mom I hadn't spoken
- 13:42Speaker 2: to her in four months. Mom called me all mad
- 13:45Speaker 2: that I lied to her. My sister is forty one.
- 13:51Speaker 2: I mean talking on the like. I text my brothers
- 13:53Speaker 2: every day, like we have a great text just you
- 13:56Speaker 2: know us and we you know, memes and different things.
- 13:59Speaker 6: But like on the phone talking to mm hmm, that's
- 14:04Speaker 6: only I don't even know. I couldn't tell you.
- 14:06Speaker 5: I don't know. Yeah, yeah, talking with your mouth. No,
- 14:10Speaker 5: I don't think so.
- 14:11Speaker 6: The last time you siblings on the phone.
- 14:15Speaker 5: It's been a minute. Yeah, it's been a while.
- 14:17Speaker 6: Jordan's siblings on the phone, every little sister.
- 14:20Speaker 7: So I kind of because I recently because I needed
- 14:23Speaker 7: to bring my keys. My keys got stolen my hair,
- 14:24Speaker 7: so I kind of needed to bring my keys. Okay, yeah,
- 14:27Speaker 7: all right, I said an emergency.
- 14:29Speaker 4: No, I would say if it's not a text, it's
- 14:31Speaker 4: a FaceTime okay, So there's no like just phone in
- 14:36Speaker 4: the ear. Hey, what you doing today? It's it's either
- 14:40Speaker 4: face time. Hey, here's the kids want to say hi
- 14:42Speaker 4: or whatever?
- 14:42Speaker 8: Taylor, my sister and mom actually talked to Victoria way
- 14:46Speaker 8: more than me on the phone. Wise, proby talk to
- 14:50Speaker 8: my dad. I talked about dad a lot on the phone.
- 14:51Speaker 8: Siblings is not that much. Siblings is just a text?
- 14:55Speaker 5: You said, Victoria talks to your your mom more than you.
- 14:58Speaker 5: Hell yeah, m hm, I mean maybe not anymore. She
- 15:01Speaker 5: did that work.
- 15:03Speaker 2: Maybe your mother didn't even text are say happy birthday.
- 15:08Speaker 8: From what I know now, I mean she got the
- 15:14Speaker 8: late night one from my sister. Maybe she's gotten more.
- 15:16Speaker 8: I don't know yet.
- 15:18Speaker 6: She's gonna get a lot today. Got an update. Will continue,
- 15:21Speaker 6: We'll continue to update.
- 15:22Speaker 5: You.
- 15:22Speaker 6: Don't worry.
- 15:22Speaker 4: I'll ever get the like the feeling people in the
- 15:27Speaker 4: family don't think you're responded, Like if something good happens
- 15:29Speaker 4: to one of the siblings or something, and I was like, hey, congratulations, congratulations,
- 15:33Speaker 4: and You're like, I think it'll mean more if I
- 15:35Speaker 4: just text them directly. I just text them greatly congratulations.
- 15:38Speaker 4: So you're not like it's not on the record, you're
- 15:42Speaker 4: telling congratulations. So like, hey, like, did you see that
- 15:46Speaker 4: your sister did this? Yeah, blah blah blah. You need
- 15:49Speaker 4: to text her congrats. Well I did, I did. Yeah,
- 15:53Speaker 4: let me live my life. Hmmm, good question, good questions.

- 16:45Speaker 6: be some excuses.
- 16:47Speaker 4: Yeah, what happened? Maybe I'm here's my thought. This is
- 16:51Speaker 4: just a bold hot take here. They're gonna blame Taylor.
- 16:55Speaker 5: Hm, no I don't. I'll never get blame him out
- 16:58Speaker 5: for anything. Uh.

- 20:15Speaker 2: We know it's gonna be on Wednesday night, So I
- 20:17Speaker 2: think a lot of people are going to be heading
- 20:18Speaker 2: out to the box.
- 20:20Speaker 5: Uh, we got like a buy a ticket situation.
- 20:23Speaker 2: No, I don't think so, like you need the celebrations,
- 20:26Speaker 2: Like you just go in the seat and yeah, have
- 20:29Speaker 2: like a little ceremony right there by home plate and
- 20:32Speaker 2: celebrate the Tigers.
- 20:33Speaker 4: Perfect, just cheer them on. Yeah, we're gonna take the family.
- 20:37Speaker 4: They're fired up.
- 20:38Speaker 6: Well you got to now you got jerseys.
- 20:40Speaker 4: I know we got jerseys. I feel kind of bad though,
- 20:42Speaker 4: like we're gonna go. We didn't go to a game
- 20:45Speaker 4: this year. I feel kind of bad because we were
- 20:48Speaker 4: late bloomers. I think everybody here knows that.
- 20:51Speaker 6: What look you were. But once you got in, you
- 20:53Speaker 6: were in.
- 20:53Speaker 5: We're all in. You were in. Let there be a
- 20:56Speaker 5: home game right now, you there, we'd be there. We'd
- 20:59Speaker 5: be there.
- 21:00Speaker 6: What game three?
- 21:02Speaker 5: Mid game coming up? Way, let's go who are we playing?
- 21:05Speaker 2: Let's play Luptmber, Pilots and Tigers.
- 21:12Speaker 6: Yes, it's a good idea, man A minute, Like I
- 21:15Speaker 6: think we went to.
- 21:17Speaker 2: It might have been like a game in the Omaha Series,
- 21:19Speaker 2: like one of those early ones, and I saw pictures.
- 21:21Speaker 2: Yet it was like hoodie season, like the beginning of
- 21:26Speaker 2: baseball season. So you just think about how long baseball
- 21:29Speaker 2: season truly is. Like our entire crew is in hoodies
- 21:33Speaker 2: and beanies and and now we're in just you know,
- 21:36Speaker 2: the middle of June.
- 21:37Speaker 6: When it's hotter than hot and we still have hoodies
- 21:39Speaker 6: on because the studio and cold. Yes it is sixty
- 21:44Speaker 6: was it sixty one degrees? I think what they keep
- 21:46Speaker 6: it at it might be fifty nine.
- 21:48Speaker 4: So so let me hear let me just take me
- 21:50Speaker 4: through a three sixty five overview of l s U baseball,
- 21:55Speaker 4: Like what's the next like kind of news cycle that happens.
- 21:58Speaker 5: Is it transfers?
- 22:00Speaker 2: Yeah, all of that, yes, and so okay, So for baseball,
- 22:03Speaker 2: like high school recruiting, like the elite guys at LSU
- 22:06Speaker 2: baseball is trying to get The thing that Jay Johnson
- 22:10Speaker 2: his staff sweat out the most is the MLB Draft
- 22:14Speaker 2: because he's got a handful of players that he has
- 22:17Speaker 2: already gotten to. You know, they're gonna be at LSU.
- 22:21Speaker 2: Everything's done, But if they get drafted and they like
- 22:26Speaker 2: that number, then I'm sure.
- 22:28Speaker 5: It's not as big of like a gap anymore.
- 22:31Speaker 2: But oh no, I mean you're getting players on campus
- 22:33Speaker 2: that you never would have gotten on campus before. Now
- 22:36Speaker 2: I'm not saying it's all because of NIL, but it
- 22:39Speaker 2: certainly helps.
- 22:40Speaker 6: Like William Schmidt would not.
- 22:41Speaker 2: Be on LSU's baseball team, Derek curry Up probably wouldn't
- 22:45Speaker 2: be on LSU's baseball team. Case and Evans might not
- 22:49Speaker 2: be on LU Like we could go on and on,
- 22:51Speaker 2: but yeah, now you can you can give them something.
- 22:54Speaker 5: And also, you know, because at some point the money
- 22:57Speaker 5: might not match, but at least you're not getting nothing.
- 23:00Speaker 6: Well, I've talked, and you have.
- 23:01Speaker 4: The opportunity to grow, develop, and it's like it's the
- 23:04Speaker 4: greatest pre m l the right situation that's been going
- 23:08Speaker 4: to a single.
- 23:09Speaker 2: So I've talked to people, not just at LSU, but
- 23:11Speaker 2: they've been in a situation where they would have been
- 23:13Speaker 2: a top sixty pick and they chose college. I'm like, hey,
- 23:16Speaker 2: well why'd you do that? And they say, you know,
- 23:17Speaker 2: in IL now you can compete a little bit. It's
- 23:20Speaker 2: not the same, it's it. But also instead of going
- 23:22Speaker 2: straight from high school, and go getting you know, on
- 23:25Speaker 2: a bus in bf E Indiana, right and traveling to
- 23:29Speaker 2: these games. I can get on a chartered flight in
- 23:32Speaker 2: the SEC and then go play baseball. Everything's first class
- 23:37Speaker 2: every day in a badass facility. Everything's taken care of. Yeah,
- 23:40Speaker 2: I got this incredible facility, got this incredible you know condo.
- 23:44Speaker 2: That's part of my scholarship. I get school paid for.
- 23:48Speaker 2: It's like, and so I have that experience. And now
- 23:52Speaker 2: you're seeing these SEC baseball players spend about a year
- 23:56Speaker 2: and a half in the minors and they're up like
- 23:58Speaker 2: the elite ones. Right, and so instead of doing that
- 24:01Speaker 2: for three and a half years, four years riding on
- 24:04Speaker 2: a bus between you know, Indiana to Ohio and like
- 24:08Speaker 2: just all these random places.
- 24:11Speaker 4: So you would say college football is more collegewall. College
- 24:14Speaker 4: basket baseball is more developmental than like the standard farm system.
- 24:21Speaker 6: I think it's close. It's close enough.
- 24:22Speaker 2: Now.
- 24:23Speaker 4: Was the gap used to be different? It used to
- 24:25Speaker 4: be like college. They didn't think was because a lot
- 24:27Speaker 4: of those guys we went from high school straight to
- 24:29Speaker 4: the MLB drafts.
- 24:30Speaker 2: Yeah, and so now you know, it's very comparable and
- 24:33Speaker 2: you look up and right now, anytime in double A,
- 24:36Speaker 2: which is where your most talent's going to be, and
- 24:38Speaker 2: it's just littered with people that you saw play in
- 24:40Speaker 2: the SEC last year.
- 24:42Speaker 6: It's not just the SEC, but certainly it's a bulk
- 24:44Speaker 6: of it. So yeah, and so that's what you know.
- 24:47Speaker 2: Jay, Still though you got sweat some people out, like
- 24:49Speaker 2: you still lost some last year, you'll lose them this year.
- 24:52Speaker 2: But now you can be more competitive. You can get
- 24:54Speaker 2: guys on campus that you never would have before. So
- 24:57Speaker 2: they're going through that, they're going through the transfer portal.
- 25:00Speaker 2: You know, Jay has done a really nice job of
- 25:02Speaker 2: identifying players in the portal. Big school, small school does
- 25:05Speaker 2: not matter, right. I mean, yeah, sure they're highly rated
- 25:09Speaker 2: in the portal, but he bets on Daniel Digginson being
- 25:12Speaker 2: able to go from Utah Valley to LSU, Luis Hernandez
- 25:15Speaker 2: going from Indiana State to LSU. You still get your
- 25:18Speaker 2: Chris Stanfield who's at Auburn to come to LSU. So
- 25:20Speaker 2: like it's a mixture of all that. So like, right now,
- 25:23Speaker 2: I can promise you Jay is on the phone recruiting
- 25:28Speaker 2: his butt off right now, even though they've got a
- 25:30Speaker 2: championship celebration coming up tomorrow, Taylor.
- 25:33Speaker 5: You brought this up at the break.
- 25:35Speaker 4: Do we have kind of the list of guys we
- 25:38Speaker 4: are losing to graduation that are going to be a
- 25:41Speaker 4: little bit on the edge that, like you said, will
- 25:44Speaker 4: be on the edge of our seat during the draft.
- 25:47Speaker 2: Well, our colleague Hunt Palmer put out a great article
- 25:51Speaker 2: on Louisiana Sports dot Net. Shout out to Hunt and
- 25:55Speaker 2: he's got it broken down players that are out of eligibility,
- 25:59Speaker 2: likely draft departures, decisions to make So the list right
- 26:06Speaker 2: now out of eligibility Josh Pearson, Michael Braswell, Luis Hernandez
- 26:12Speaker 2: Dalton Beck all right, likely draft departures, Bear Jones, Daniel Dickinson.
- 26:19Speaker 2: On the position player side, pitchers, Kate Anderson, Anthony Hyson,
- 26:24Speaker 2: Chase Shores, Jacob Myers.
- 26:26Speaker 6: Now, some people that.
- 26:29Speaker 2: Saw, you know Chase Shore's throw, they know he's a
- 26:31Speaker 2: rich shirt sophomore. He would still have leverage if he
- 26:33Speaker 2: came back next year, but he's he's not a starter
- 26:39Speaker 2: at the next level, right he would probably be a
- 26:41Speaker 2: starter in LSU uniform released the opportunity to try to
- 26:44Speaker 2: go earn a spot again. I mean that's where he
- 26:45Speaker 2: started this season. But for Chase shores and I get it.
- 26:49Speaker 2: On the biggest stage. You just came into the game
- 26:52Speaker 2: pumping one hundred one oh one thing, an eighty eight
- 26:57Speaker 2: mile per hour slider that had some bite to it it. Yeah,
- 27:00Speaker 2: so that's kind of one of those strike while the
- 27:03Speaker 2: iron's hot situations.
- 27:06Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm not I'd be surprised at this point if
- 27:08Speaker 4: he came back. I don't know what baseball scouts look for,
- 27:13Speaker 4: but watching that dude come in, they had.
- 27:17Speaker 5: To be drooling on themselves. I mean, I think he
- 27:20Speaker 5: had at one point four pitches that were triple digits
- 27:22Speaker 5: in a row, and the movement that he had. I was.
- 27:27Speaker 4: I was blown away just watching him come in, just
- 27:29Speaker 4: like the change of pace that it brought to after
- 27:32Speaker 4: after I started.
- 27:33Speaker 2: He'll be he'll be in a big league bullpen. I
- 27:38Speaker 2: think Jay said this to eighteen months.
- 27:40Speaker 7: Oh yeah, I had to cut audio. He definitely said that, Yes, yes, yes,
- 27:44Speaker 7: he definitely said that is.
- 27:45Speaker 2: The man that's worked with a lot of uh hump
- 27:46Speaker 2: pull Meryan shows and oh holy audio.
- 27:51Speaker 4: I mean, obviously you can't hide the talent from anybody.
- 27:54Speaker 4: But before the College World Series, was he kind of
- 27:59Speaker 4: like a shooting.
- 28:00Speaker 5: To come back?
- 28:01Speaker 6: I mean I don't really think it, like it's a
- 28:03Speaker 6: couple of ends make that.
- 28:06Speaker 5: Yeah, oh for sure.
- 28:08Speaker 8: That I think Kate Anderson made himself the first pick.
- 28:11Speaker 8: Now that's a culmination of the whole season. But throwing
- 28:14Speaker 8: a complete game shutout in the finals, it doesn't hurt.
- 28:17Speaker 5: Sure, But like.
- 28:20Speaker 4: I think before that performance top five, top five to one,
- 28:25Speaker 4: not as big of a jump to state at LSU
- 28:28Speaker 4: to getting drafted high enough for the.
- 28:29Speaker 5: Money to make it worth it.
- 28:31Speaker 2: No, I mean we have seen, like there's been plenty
- 28:33Speaker 2: of examples over the years where guys in regional, super regionals,
- 28:36Speaker 2: World Series situation that they've been draftable guys like they're
- 28:40Speaker 2: going to be like a midro and then they just
- 28:43Speaker 2: shoved or hit three bombs whatever it might be, and
- 28:46Speaker 2: they end up being you know, top five rounds. Yeah,
- 28:49Speaker 2: without question. So I think Jay Shores falls into that category.
- 28:54Speaker 2: And again that's you know, likely draft departures again, Bart Jones,
- 28:59Speaker 2: Daniel Diggings and Kate Anderson, Anthony IINs and Chase Shor's
- 29:02Speaker 2: Jacob Myers fall into that category. We'll take a break
- 29:06Speaker 2: in when we come back, we'll give you the list again.
- 29:09Speaker 2: Hunt Palmer, Losingsports Dot net of guys that have a
- 29:12Speaker 2: decision to make and we'll do it right.
- 29:14Speaker 6: Here on o TV. Off the bench, I go to
- 29:19Speaker 6: trash rangers dot com.

- 30:46Speaker 2: See the sill when you see the bills, be call
- 30:49Speaker 2: the painting the bars, pitar.
- 30:52Speaker 6: Welcome back an OTV one O four five ESPN mat rous.
- 30:56Speaker 2: You're on this Tuesday morning taking a look at potentially
- 31:00Speaker 2: what the twenty twenty six LSU baseball team could look like.
- 31:04Speaker 2: And again Hump Palmer did a fantastic job on louisianasports
- 31:08Speaker 2: dot Net putting it together. We left you off with
- 31:11Speaker 2: guys who are likely to depart for the MLB Draft.
- 31:15Speaker 2: Now guys that have to think about it a little bit.
- 31:17Speaker 5: Uh.
- 31:18Speaker 2: Position players Ethan Fry, Chris Stanfield and Tanner Reeves. Pitchers
- 31:24Speaker 2: Connor ware Zach Cowan, Jayden Newt, Gavin Gidgery and Grant
- 31:28Speaker 2: Fontina all right, So for me, and it's all about
- 31:36Speaker 2: leverage Matt in the MLB draft, Okay, Like it's not
- 31:40Speaker 2: the NFL draft where you can come back for your
- 31:42Speaker 2: senior year still be the number one overall pick. It's
- 31:44Speaker 2: like you gotta go when you're a junior or you're
- 31:47Speaker 2: a draft eligible sophomore.
- 31:49Speaker 6: You you know you want to have all the leverage
- 31:51Speaker 6: that you can.
- 31:51Speaker 2: You want to be able to threaten with the MLB
- 31:54Speaker 2: team that you can come back for your senior year if.
- 31:56Speaker 5: You got no eligibility, you got no negotiation.
- 32:00Speaker 2: With power exactly, and you're gonna get a bag of
- 32:03Speaker 2: some flower seeds and a bus ticket to go to
- 32:09Speaker 2: Nobody would, at least I shouldn't think that anybody would, uh,
- 32:14Speaker 2: of that group, I mean and Hunt Rights, I mean
- 32:17Speaker 2: Ethan Fry was so clutched this year hit three point
- 32:20Speaker 2: thirty one thirteen homers.
- 32:22Speaker 6: Both of those were second on the team.
- 32:26Speaker 2: He's in a situation where you know your your value,
- 32:30Speaker 2: your stock's probably at an all time high right now.
- 32:34Speaker 2: Of those three players, he's probably the most likely to
- 32:39Speaker 2: go to the draft. For me, I don't know if
- 32:41Speaker 2: anybody else would disagree with that.
- 32:43Speaker 5: No, Guidry's coming back. For sure, Gidrey has a change.
- 32:46Speaker 2: Anything about I'm more just talking about the position players.
- 32:48Speaker 2: But yeah, Gudry's got to come back. Yeah, he's got
- 32:51Speaker 2: to put some more stuff on tape. The guy could
- 32:54Speaker 2: be look new could be a Sunday yep starter too
- 32:57Speaker 2: for the entire season, Like it'd be him on Sunday.
- 33:00Speaker 2: Like we often forget, like Jade Newt was highly rated
- 33:04Speaker 2: at a high school. I mean, one of the top
- 33:06Speaker 2: pitchers in the country and now he's been slow to
- 33:10Speaker 2: develop to maybe that standard, but he's still like last
- 33:13Speaker 2: year was his best year and they counted on him.
- 33:16Speaker 2: If Zach Cowen comes back, he's in a spot to
- 33:20Speaker 2: be in the weekend rotation potentially, right.
- 33:23Speaker 8: Zach Cowen's a guy I thinks should come back for
- 33:25Speaker 8: that reason. Like when he was brought in, everybody kind
- 33:28Speaker 8: of thought he was going to be a starter.
- 33:30Speaker 5: I did. I was like, oh, you're bringing in this guy.
- 33:32Speaker 8: He was really good at Watford, Like you saw him start,
- 33:35Speaker 8: He's going to be a starting pitcher and what but.
- 33:38Speaker 2: He his leverage, he would but he could increase his
- 33:41Speaker 2: value if he went into the SEC and started.
- 33:44Speaker 6: On the weekends and you know, pitch well.
- 33:55Speaker 5: Right, oh yeah, for sure.
- 34:00Speaker 6: Have to stitchhead. Are those teams coming loose?
- 34:04Speaker 5: Yeah, he was dobing in.
- 34:06Speaker 4: Let me let me tell you something like, all right,
- 34:10Speaker 4: I'm gonna have to lean on y'all when we're talking
- 34:13Speaker 4: about specifics of coming or going, staying, leaving, whatever it is.
- 34:20Speaker 4: I enjoyed breaking down the games. Oh yeah, we might have,
- 34:23Speaker 4: we might have we might have topped out. Yeah, I'll
- 34:26Speaker 4: pushed this engine as far as you can go. Change noel,
- 34:30Speaker 4: change a little bit.
- 34:32Speaker 2: Oh uh, look, if you get a couple of those
- 34:35Speaker 2: arms back, for sure, like if you can find a
- 34:38Speaker 2: way like I think, I think Connor Ware is somebody
- 34:41Speaker 2: that is going to be much better next year than
- 34:43Speaker 2: he was this year because there was flashes this year.
- 34:47Speaker 5: Cooper william News a freshman the l like he's gonna
- 34:50Speaker 5: be big next year.
- 34:51Speaker 2: Jay Newton and Gavin Gidrey both have a rich shirt
- 34:54Speaker 2: year that they can kind of play with. So it
- 34:56Speaker 2: gives them a little bit of that leverage that we're
- 34:57Speaker 2: talking about back. So I guess, Zach Collen, this one's
- 35:00Speaker 2: really got a decision to make. Do I go now
- 35:02Speaker 2: or do I try to be an sec starter and
- 35:05Speaker 2: knowing that I have what I did out of a
- 35:06Speaker 2: bullpen on tape as well, Like Zach Cowen feels like
- 35:09Speaker 2: a big one. Feels like a big one if you
- 35:11Speaker 2: can get him back, Like if you could find a
- 35:14Speaker 2: way to get Ethan Frye, Chris Stanfield and Zach Cowen back.
- 35:19Speaker 6: Cookn't with gas there.
- 35:20Speaker 5: Don't forget.
- 35:21Speaker 8: I mean he'll come back because he was injured all year.
- 35:23Speaker 8: But I mean Devin Sheeran was a guy that Jay
- 35:27Speaker 8: loved couldn't play this year because of injury.
- 35:30Speaker 5: He's only a sophomore. Like, that's a guy that'll be
- 35:32Speaker 5: big for you next year.
- 35:34Speaker 2: Of the guys who are projected to be back, of course,
- 35:37Speaker 2: you know because of their age, and they're not going
- 35:40Speaker 2: to go anwhere because you're playing at LSU. Why would
- 35:42Speaker 2: you go anywhere? You got a great core coming back.
- 35:45Speaker 2: Derek Curiel, Jake Brown, Steven Mylom there.
- 35:49Speaker 6: That's gonna be your core.
- 35:50Speaker 2: Three guys offensively, and then like pitchers you mentioned Cooper Williams,
- 35:55Speaker 2: Cason Evans, Maverick, Rizzy William Schmidt, somebody that I know
- 36:01Speaker 2: as a true freshman. Maybe some people were expecting too much,
- 36:06Speaker 2: like think about like think what Kate Anderson didn't pitch
- 36:09Speaker 2: a whole lot his freshman year. At the end towards
- 36:11Speaker 2: the postseason, he came in gave some great performances. But
- 36:14Speaker 2: this is like projecting what he's going to be and
- 36:17Speaker 2: don't base it off what he did this year. And
- 36:20Speaker 2: there's some good in there. For William Schmidt, for sure,
- 36:22Speaker 2: he's got to be able to find the zone a
- 36:23Speaker 2: little bit more. But that is somebody that when we
- 36:26Speaker 2: talk about highly rated, as highly rated as anybody.
- 36:30Speaker 6: I'm very excited to see what he can do as
- 36:32Speaker 6: a sophomore.
- 36:33Speaker 2: So of the arms you know you have coming back,
- 36:37Speaker 2: you look loaded, you look you look pretty good right now,
- 36:40Speaker 2: better than you did last year at this point.
- 36:42Speaker 8: Yeah, I mean, think about how many transfers you had
- 36:43Speaker 8: to bring in a year ago. Now you have a foundation,
- 36:47Speaker 8: go to the portal and kind of grab what you
- 36:49Speaker 8: need right a closer, a middle reliever, but yeah, the
- 36:52Speaker 8: core is there.
- 36:53Speaker 7: Yeah, I mean, I guess you could say that's what
- 36:59Speaker 7: happens when you like you don't have to worry about
- 37:01Speaker 7: always happened to replenish and all that.
- 37:03Speaker 6: Like you just have guys. Guys want to be here,
- 37:06Speaker 6: Guys want to play for LSU, So it's also a plus.
- 37:10Speaker 2: Now, some of these guys that are projected back, you
- 37:12Speaker 2: might lose some of them in the transfer portal. Maybe
- 37:15Speaker 2: some of the guys that want a little bit more
- 37:16Speaker 2: playing time, like Ash and Larson's gonna be kind of
- 37:20Speaker 2: intriguing to me because you counted on him so much
- 37:23Speaker 2: last year. I mean by the end of like he
- 37:25Speaker 2: was one of your most consistent hitters. Now there was
- 37:28Speaker 2: times he came in this year and came up big.
- 37:30Speaker 2: He had a couple of clutch home runs, like didn't
- 37:33Speaker 2: play in the World Series, right, and he it's a
- 37:36Speaker 2: player that is very talented. He's not like from Louisiana,
- 37:40Speaker 2: so you don't have like that time. Maybe holding him
- 37:42Speaker 2: like Ethan Fry is gonna hold on a little bit
- 37:45Speaker 2: longer when he wasn't playing because he's from Louisiana.
- 37:47Speaker 6: He always dreamed of playing for LSU.
- 37:49Speaker 5: Right.
- 37:50Speaker 2: Larson's from Kansas so well Highland Park, which is Kansas
- 37:55Speaker 2: Missouri line right there.
- 37:56Speaker 6: But again not from Louisiana. So that's gonna be an
- 38:00Speaker 6: interesting one.
- 38:02Speaker 2: But you'll lose some But the core guys you have
- 38:05Speaker 2: coming back LSU Baseball with Jay Johnson, what he does
- 38:08Speaker 2: in the portal.
- 38:09Speaker 6: You know, if he can get.
- 38:10Speaker 2: Through the MLB Draft as well and hit some of
- 38:13Speaker 2: these that he hit a year ago, the roster I
- 38:16Speaker 2: think right now looks better than it did a year ago.
- 38:18Speaker 4: At this time, do they have different The portal windows
- 38:23Speaker 4: been open, right, yeah, And which is ridiculous, right because
- 38:27Speaker 4: the seasons this season had been over, So how long
- 38:30Speaker 4: does the portal win to say open? When does it closed?
- 38:32Speaker 4: One of those signings happened.
- 38:34Speaker 8: Disposed a while, like they got to commit during either
- 38:39Speaker 8: regional or Super regional like that.
- 38:41Speaker 5: It did it committed like.
- 38:43Speaker 8: They you know, they can't sign you because it's still
- 38:44Speaker 8: during the middle of the season, but disposed a while.
- 38:47Speaker 5: It's a little weird. It's not like all off season.
- 38:52Speaker 2: Again, this is a situation where last year, right, everybody
- 38:58Speaker 2: was jumping on players in the portal. LSU had a plan.
- 39:03Speaker 2: They had a plan to go get certain guys from
- 39:05Speaker 2: certain places. Some of them are highly rated out of
- 39:07Speaker 2: the portal, but some were not, and they paid all
- 39:10Speaker 2: for LSU.
- 39:11Speaker 5: Right.
- 39:11Speaker 2: This is in one of those situations in Jay Johnson,
- 39:14Speaker 2: we trust and you got to trust that he is
- 39:16Speaker 2: going to get it done in the portal. But he's
- 39:18Speaker 2: not going to have to do as much work in
- 39:20Speaker 2: the portal this year as he did a year ago.
- 39:23Speaker 2: And again, some of these players that we're talking about,
- 39:26Speaker 2: we're assuming that they're going to go to the MLB Draft,
- 39:29Speaker 2: they're not going to come back because of leverage situations.
- 39:32Speaker 2: But we've been shot before. None of us had Barr
- 39:35Speaker 2: Jones on this team at this time last year. We
- 39:37Speaker 2: all thought he was gone.
- 39:40Speaker 8: Yeah, speaking of surprises, like we're talking about guys we
- 39:43Speaker 8: think are going to leave the comeback.
- 39:45Speaker 5: What about a guy that you expect to come back
- 39:48Speaker 5: but maybe not? What about Jake Brown?
- 39:50Speaker 8: And like I don't want to speculate here or anything,
- 39:52Speaker 8: but like, okay, he didn't play a lot when you
- 39:55Speaker 8: had a left handed pitcher, right.
- 39:56Speaker 5: Does Jay work with him in the offseason.
- 39:59Speaker 2: Or they will give j Brown whatever number they should
- 40:03Speaker 2: they have to get, No, they will. I've heard Jay
- 40:06Speaker 2: on and off the record talk about Jake Brown. Whatever
- 40:10Speaker 2: the number to get him to stay here would be,
- 40:13Speaker 2: Jay would find a way.
- 40:14Speaker 6: He loves Jake Brown.
- 40:16Speaker 5: I mean, I love Jake Brown.
- 40:17Speaker 8: I know we had talked about it about like I
- 40:19Speaker 8: wanted him in the everyday lineup, but I mean I
- 40:21Speaker 8: was just looking at it, like, what if he brings
- 40:23Speaker 8: in another guy, it hits left these Jake Brown's looking
- 40:26Speaker 8: at it like, do I want to you want to
- 40:29Speaker 8: stick around and keep whatever they're giving me?
- 40:32Speaker 5: Or do I want to be an everyday player? I
- 40:34Speaker 5: mean maybybe that'll be.
- 40:35Speaker 2: He'll be out there, right, He'll be in every He'll
- 40:37Speaker 2: be an everyday player next year. I don't think there's
- 40:39Speaker 2: any uh, you know, two ways about that. I think
- 40:42Speaker 2: he'll be an everyday player. He's so important to what
- 40:44Speaker 2: your future looks like next year. Again, what like, even
- 40:48Speaker 2: if it was a situation, Jay would make the situation right.
- 40:50Speaker 2: So all right, let's take a break more OTB close
- 40:54Speaker 2: out our number one. When we come back here on
- 40:56Speaker 2: one O four five espn benterige off the bench. I

- 42:06Speaker 1: From players to legends, Hester and Flynn breakdown LSU football
- 42:10Speaker 1: like only champions can.
- 42:30Speaker 2: Welcome back in OTB one O four five ESPN Baton
- 42:33Speaker 2: Rouge as we get set to celebrate tomorrow night inside
- 42:38Speaker 2: the Box, big celebration gonna be taking place. Sure a
- 42:42Speaker 2: lot of you went in twenty twenty three. You know
- 42:46Speaker 2: how LSU works. They're gonna probably already have the new
- 42:49Speaker 2: banner ready to go.
- 42:51Speaker 6: Be shocked.
- 42:52Speaker 2: If they don't, they've already put it around the locker room.
- 42:54Speaker 2: I don't know if y'all saw that yesterday. They've already
- 42:56Speaker 2: got the twenty twenty five added inside the facility, the
- 43:00Speaker 2: national championship list.
- 43:01Speaker 5: Did we get any feedback from yesterday requesting a little piece.
- 43:06Speaker 6: Of the current intimidator?
- 43:08Speaker 5: I want tiger, I.
- 43:10Speaker 6: Make some costs. I make some costs. You said, yeah,
- 43:12Speaker 6: you want the tooth, the tooth or the man.
- 43:17Speaker 2: This has to just feel so good for Jay Johnson.
- 43:23Speaker 2: Now they're like the first one. It's a different feeling,
- 43:26Speaker 2: Like it's an incredible feeling, but to really like just
- 43:28Speaker 2: solidify yourself, like the program has already been solidified.
- 43:31Speaker 6: We know it's a standard, we get it.
- 43:33Speaker 2: But for Jay, like to go to Omaha with another school, right,
- 43:37Speaker 2: and you get so close, you get to a championship series,
- 43:40Speaker 2: but you can't win the national championship and you still
- 43:43Speaker 2: get back to Omaha and you've been very successful and
- 43:47Speaker 2: you bet on yourself. There's a lot of people that
- 43:50Speaker 2: would run away from the LSU job. Like you can
- 43:52Speaker 2: think that everybody would take it. Not everybody's made for
- 43:56Speaker 2: this job. There's just not There's too many expectations, right,
- 44:00Speaker 2: there's a lot of people that if it's not a
- 44:03Speaker 2: national championship, they're disappointed.
- 44:07Speaker 6: Now you have all the resources. I'm not gonna act
- 44:09Speaker 6: like you don't.
- 44:09Speaker 2: You have the best environment in college baseball, you have
- 44:11Speaker 2: the best fans in college baseball. I get all of that.
- 44:14Speaker 2: There's positives, but it's also can you handle the things
- 44:17Speaker 2: that come with the job. Even with all the positives.
- 44:20Speaker 2: A lot of people cannot. Jay ran straight towards it
- 44:23Speaker 2: right coming as an outsider from the West Coast and
- 44:26Speaker 2: hadn't really been in the South at all, and he
- 44:28Speaker 2: comes here and in four years he has two national championships.
- 44:33Speaker 2: He is the best coach in college baseball. That Look,
- 44:37Speaker 2: you can take your Tony v argument and you can
- 44:38Speaker 2: go fly a kite. Okay, he's not. Jay Johnson beat
- 44:43Speaker 2: the team that everybody told us was the most complete
- 44:46Speaker 2: team a thousand times throughout the year. He was four
- 44:49Speaker 2: and one against Arkansas this year. Okay, Jay Johnson is
- 44:53Speaker 2: that dude. He wanted all the smoke and now he's
- 44:57Speaker 2: got two national championships.
- 44:58Speaker 4: And it is like that for almost every LSU sport.
- 45:02Speaker 4: It's a job that not everybody can handle, not everybody once.
- 45:07Speaker 4: Because of that, you have to have to make it.
- 45:09Speaker 4: And that's a testament to LSU baseball in general, just
- 45:11Speaker 4: the history of it, because before he took the job,
- 45:13Speaker 4: they hadn't won the World Series and over decade, right,
- 45:17Speaker 4: and so to have that sort of expectation on it
- 45:21Speaker 4: coming in with without a championship and over a decade,
- 45:23Speaker 4: which is not that long for most.
- 45:25Speaker 5: Programs, but we ain't most programs.
- 45:28Speaker 4: I was about to say, you're coming there, but he
- 45:32Speaker 4: it's I've been so impressed with him, incredibly impressed where
- 45:36Speaker 4: I've kind of dove into this thing.
- 45:37Speaker 5: And just the mental makeup. And they talked about it yesterday.
- 45:41Speaker 4: He didn't have many hobbities, hobbies, his uh any, his
- 45:45Speaker 4: golf handicaps pretty high.
- 45:46Speaker 2: Yes, I mean, look, he said it before. He's like,
- 45:49Speaker 2: baseball is my children. That's that that he is all
- 45:53Speaker 2: about baseball. He is Nick Saban in a baseball uniform.
- 45:58Speaker 2: I've said it for two years, continue to say it.
- 46:00Speaker 2: The only thing I've ever seen like it. Shout out
- 46:03Speaker 2: Jay Johnson, Moro TV.
- 46:04Speaker 1: Next off the bench.
- 46:06Speaker 2: Actually go ahead and get those mail bag questions in.
