- 0:24Speaker 2: The following feature has been rated R by the Motion
- 0:26Speaker 2: Picture Association of America. It is intended for mature audiences
- 0:30Speaker 2: and parental discretion is advised.
- 0:42Speaker 3: It's showtime, folks. Enjoy the show.
- 0:48Speaker 4: Our nuclear reactor, pumping out one million kilowatts of power.
- 1:22Speaker 5: What's up and welcome to Movie Meltdown.
- 1:35Speaker 1: I'm Brian.
- 1:36Speaker 6: I am Ben.
- 1:37Speaker 1: And we are sitting here in the middle of Wonderfest.
- 1:40Speaker 7: We are coming to you live via digital recording from
- 1:42Speaker 7: our table at Wonderfest.
- 1:44Speaker 1: Once again, I'm still piecing this together.
- 1:47Speaker 7: I'm going to have many, many episodes, I'm assuming, because
- 1:50Speaker 7: we've got a lot of people to talk to. And
- 1:52Speaker 7: we've roped Ben back into sitting in with us this week.
- 1:56Speaker 6: Thank you, Brian.
- 1:57Speaker 1: In addition, we have a nice tie-in.
- 2:01Speaker 7: For those of you who've been listening to all the
- 2:03Speaker 7: subliminal messages and or promos I've been playing for that Tower.
- 2:06Speaker 1: Of Technobabble thing... If you haven't, you're stupid. You should
- 2:10Speaker 1: really be listening.
- 2:11Speaker 7: But if you have, then you will recognize the person
- 2:14Speaker 7: we're about to introduce.
- 2:16Speaker 6: Mr.
- 2:17Speaker 1: Dave, would you like to say hello to people?
- 2:18Speaker 6: Well, hello, people. This is Dave.
- 2:20Speaker 1: Conduit.
- 2:21Speaker 6: Hello.
- 2:21Speaker 1: The Conduit to you.
- 2:23Speaker 8: And you know, actually, since there's two people from Technobabble
- 2:25Speaker 8: and only one person from Movie Meltdown, I think technically
- 2:28Speaker 8: this is a Technobabble episode.
- 2:29Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 2:30Speaker 6: Welcome to Tower of Technobabble Season 3, Episode 21.
- 2:33Speaker 1: You don't even know what episode you're on. Don't lie.
- 2:34Speaker 6: We don't.
- 2:36Speaker 8: It's 20A, I suppose, now.
- 2:38Speaker 7: If that's the case, you have to put this out
- 2:40Speaker 7: on your feed. I think that's how it comes down.
- 2:42Speaker 7: So if you're claiming it and putting it out there,
- 2:45Speaker 7: that's fine. That means somebody's got to do the editing
- 2:47Speaker 7: besides me.
- 2:48Speaker 6: Oh, no, we're not going to do any editing. That's
- 2:50Speaker 6: what I thought. Welcome to Movie Meltdown, edited by Brian. Damn.
- 2:56Speaker 8: We will step back into respectable distance.
- 2:58Speaker 1: Put that right into place.
- 3:00Speaker 6: Welcome. Welcome to my world.
- 3:03Speaker 1: The slacker, I'm not going to edit anything. I feel
- 3:06Speaker 1: for you, Dave.
- 3:07Speaker 3: Not it.
- 3:10Speaker 1: You have to deal with this all the time.
- 3:12Speaker 2: All right.
- 3:13Speaker 6: Well, hey, I got to say right up front, I'm
- 3:15Speaker 6: a little bit disappointed in the convention. I went to
- 3:20Speaker 6: the website, and the first thing you see is a
- 3:22Speaker 6: picture of Leigh Merriweather, Catwoman herself. I thought I was
- 3:26Speaker 6: coming to a cat convention today. I was told I
- 3:30Speaker 6: was coming to the Meow Mixer 2013, and I get
- 3:34Speaker 6: down here and there's nothing but spaceships and Yodas and
- 3:37Speaker 6: shit everywhere.
- 3:38Speaker 8: I told you that was next month.
- 3:39Speaker 1: He's easily confused.
- 3:41Speaker 6: Cats. They should do a convention about cats. That's all
- 3:44Speaker 6: I'm saying.
- 3:44Speaker 8: Check their calendar. That's all I have to say.
- 3:46Speaker 1: You're thinking they don't do a convention for cats. Have
- 3:49Speaker 1: you not seen Cat Fancy Magazine?
- 3:51Speaker 6: No.
- 3:52Speaker 7: There is an entire magazine devoted to cats. You're telling
- 3:54Speaker 7: me there's not a convention out there for them?
- 3:57Speaker 2: I did.
- 3:57Speaker 6: I just figured it's hard to get cats to do anything,
- 4:01Speaker 6: just to have a whole convention of them.
- 4:03Speaker 8: Just open up a bunch of cans of tuna and
- 4:04Speaker 8: see what happens.
- 4:05Speaker 1: Yeah, just sit them around. Before you know it, they
- 4:08Speaker 1: show up. You're crawling with cats, literally.
- 4:11Speaker 6: So tell me, have you painted a picture of where
- 4:13Speaker 6: you're sitting? Have you explained what you're looking at right
- 4:16Speaker 6: in front of you?
- 4:17Speaker 7: I believe last time we mentioned the Lost in Space
- 4:20Speaker 7: robot and the fact that there's a dewback, which I
- 4:22Speaker 7: figured you would be quite excited about.
- 4:24Speaker 6: I was, and... It was built by army men, I believe.
- 4:28Speaker 6: Like real life army men.
- 4:31Speaker 1: Not Imperial Troopers?
- 4:32Speaker 6: No, I was actually down there talking to the guy.
- 4:35Speaker 6: And the scales are made out of the rubber mats
- 4:39Speaker 6: that army guys sleep on. But then he got a
- 4:42Speaker 6: phone call and I didn't get to ask him anything.
- 4:44Speaker 6: The big question that was on my mind. Darth Vader calling.
- 4:48Speaker 1: Roger that, Lord Vader. I'll be right there.
- 4:51Speaker 6: Because this thing is actually like a life-size puppet, and
- 4:54Speaker 6: it takes a couple of guys to get in, and
- 4:56Speaker 6: they can actually move it around and stuff.
- 4:57Speaker 1: I didn't know it moved. That's awesome.
- 4:59Speaker 6: Yeah, and they've got a life-size stormtrooper that they can
- 5:03Speaker 6: put on the back, but they don't have him sitting
- 5:05Speaker 6: on the back right now because our ceiling is too
- 5:08Speaker 6: low here.
- 5:08Speaker 8: Also, he's looking for droids.
- 5:10Speaker 3: Yes.
- 5:11Speaker 6: I had a huge question. I didn't get to ask him.
- 5:14Speaker 6: Does the top of the dewback have a trapdoor that
- 5:17Speaker 6: you put the feet of the stormtrooper in? I would
- 5:19Speaker 6: assume so.
- 5:20Speaker 1: Or does he straddle it? I mean, how else would
- 5:23Speaker 1: you get on a dewback? You have to go through
- 5:25Speaker 1: the trapdoor.
- 5:26Speaker 6: But you did point out that his feet are the
- 5:29Speaker 6: CGI reimagined.
- 5:31Speaker 1: Yeah, so it's... Bindley-legged dewback.
- 5:33Speaker 6: It isn't the old classic elephant feet.
- 5:36Speaker 1: I prefer that in my dewback. I have.
- 5:39Speaker 7: I think I even got the redone version, but I
- 5:41Speaker 7: don't even know if I took it out of the
- 5:43Speaker 7: box because I like the old ones.
- 5:44Speaker 1: So I have my old ones. If I'm putting one
- 5:46Speaker 1: on the mantle like a dork, that's the real do-back
- 5:51Speaker 1: for me is with the real feet, not those spindly things.
- 5:54Speaker 8: You have your company do-backs, but that's your day-to-day personal do-back.
- 5:58Speaker 7: My everyday back-and-forth do-back. I don't want to wear out
- 6:01Speaker 7: the good ones. I keep the good one in the garage.
- 6:03Speaker 3: Exactly.
- 6:04Speaker 6: I always wonder how they got their name, Dewback.
- 6:07Speaker 8: Especially on a desert planet, there wouldn't be a lot
- 6:09Speaker 8: of Dew.
- 6:10Speaker 6: I know. I'm not sure I would want to sit
- 6:11Speaker 6: on something that has moisture coming up.
- 6:14Speaker 8: I mean, do you hop up on it and just go, ugh?
- 6:17Speaker 1: Well, you probably would anyway, really.
- 6:20Speaker 6: I figure you get on and you slide right off.
- 6:22Speaker 1: It's a little slippery back there. That's why they had
- 6:24Speaker 1: to put that big saddle up there.
- 6:26Speaker 6: There you go. How do they keep the saddle on?
- 6:28Speaker 1: Dew glue.
- 6:31Speaker 6: Anyway, so.
- 6:33Speaker 7: Considering George let his children name most of the stuff
- 6:35Speaker 7: in the prequels, I'm afraid something like that happened. It
- 6:39Speaker 7: was like his sister-in-law used to say something was a
- 6:42Speaker 7: do-back or I don't know, some funny thing happened.
- 6:44Speaker 8: That would explain the booger butt.
- 6:46Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah. That would explain Walrus Man.
- 6:48Speaker 1: He was one of the characters in the cantina. Yeah.
- 6:51Speaker 6: Oh, my gosh. Well, how's the recording been going on today?
- 6:56Speaker 6: Have you been meeting nice people?
- 6:57Speaker 7: Yeah, we've actually talked to a lot, probably more than
- 7:00Speaker 7: a normal convention we go to. Again, I think this
- 7:03Speaker 7: one brings in a different crowd. To me, it's a
- 7:06Speaker 7: much more homey kind of convention, and it's a little
- 7:09Speaker 7: more family-oriented, so I think you're not quite... Like, a
- 7:11Speaker 7: lot of the horror ones we end up at, Sometimes
- 7:14Speaker 7: people are just a little too cool and like, you know,
- 7:17Speaker 7: they have to be in their very gothy persona.
- 7:19Speaker 1: Yeah, explain that.
- 7:20Speaker 6: Okay.
- 7:21Speaker 7: So, you know, I think here people are just a
- 7:23Speaker 7: little more, you know, they're their normal geeky selves like
- 7:26Speaker 7: we are and like we have a kinship.
- 7:28Speaker 6: When people are in their... gothy persona are they in
- 7:32Speaker 6: character or is it just even the fans wearing everyday
- 7:35Speaker 6: clothes that are just kind of a little bit.
- 7:37Speaker 7: I think it depends on how cosplay you are if
- 7:41Speaker 7: you really want to get all into it I guess
- 7:42Speaker 7: you can have a character but I think even every
- 7:45Speaker 7: geek there in a black t-shirt which granted that's me
- 7:47Speaker 7: a lot of times.
- 7:48Speaker 6: Too People at home, he's wearing a gray t-shirt right now.
- 7:51Speaker 1: Today, I'm wearing a gray. Which is light black. I've
- 7:54Speaker 1: tried to branch out. Even half the shirts we've done
- 7:57Speaker 1: now are gray. So I'm really, it's like a rainbow
- 8:00Speaker 1: around here. Black to gray to light gray to really
- 8:05Speaker 1: light gray. I mean, we really branch out here at
- 8:08Speaker 1: Movie Meltdown.
- 8:09Speaker 8: Colorblind rainbow.
- 8:10Speaker 6: It's beautiful, man. Speaking of the cosplay, I'm actually surprised
- 8:15Speaker 6: that I'm not seeing more. cosplay i've seen a lot
- 8:17Speaker 6: of stormtroopers.
- 8:19Speaker 7: They're a little toned down here again because the people
- 8:21Speaker 7: aren't so over the top about it they're just kind
- 8:23Speaker 7: of like fans of movies and sci-fi and you know
- 8:26Speaker 7: that kind of stuff so i think it's they're not
- 8:28Speaker 7: as like hardcore about that element and a lot of
- 8:31Speaker 7: the stormtroopers i think are that.
- 8:33Speaker 1: 501 whatever that.
- 8:35Speaker 7: Group is that i think they've been coming here for
- 8:37Speaker 7: years so i think most of that is like officially
- 8:39Speaker 7: through them because the yeah.
- 8:41Speaker 6: The most i've seen are stormtroopers i saw one I
- 8:43Speaker 6: saw one Gorn. A guy actually wore a Gorn costume.
- 8:46Speaker 1: He was trying to get in the door over here.
- 8:48Speaker 1: We told him no. We said no entry for Gorns.
- 8:50Speaker 6: This is a warm-blooded affair, sir.
- 8:52Speaker 1: We don't like your kind around here.
- 8:54Speaker 6: Did he pick up a giant paper mache boulder and
- 8:57Speaker 6: try to smash the window?
- 8:58Speaker 1: He did, but it bounced right off.
- 9:00Speaker 6: Poor Gorn.
- 9:00Speaker 5: Poor Gorn.
- 9:02Speaker 6: And I've seen a lot of Ghostbusters, too.
- 9:04Speaker 1: That's any convention you go to.
- 9:06Speaker 6: And also, I've seen... Yeah.
- 9:08Speaker 7: Cat Fancy Magazine convention or the Civil War reenactors, also Ghostbusters.
- 9:14Speaker 7: It was the craziest thing.
- 9:15Speaker 8: Well, Civil War did create a lot of ghosts.
- 9:17Speaker 6: I've actually seen a lot of policemen walking around, and
- 9:20Speaker 6: I don't know, are they actual cops or are they cosplayers?
- 9:24Speaker 8: That gun looks real.
- 9:25Speaker 6: I don't know.
- 9:26Speaker 7: See, at the Horror Winds, I keep trying to convince, like,
- 9:28Speaker 7: everybody that is a cop should just get, like, a
- 9:31Speaker 7: big cowboy hat and just go as Rick. I'm just
- 9:34Speaker 7: here to shoot all these damn zombies roaming around this thing. Like,
- 9:37Speaker 7: if you had the uniform, why would you not be
- 9:39Speaker 7: using it?
- 9:39Speaker 8: Have you seen Carl?
- 9:41Speaker 1: He's not in the house, I can tell you that.
- 9:43Speaker 1: Little bastard wandered off again.
- 9:44Speaker 8: Where the hell's Carl?
- 9:46Speaker 1: I don't know. Am I supposed to be watching him?
- 9:48Speaker 1: What am I, his mother?
- 9:51Speaker 6: The best cosplay story I've ever heard is, um, You've
- 9:55Speaker 6: heard of the Renaissance Faire. You're familiar with this.
- 9:57Speaker 1: I'm geek enough to know it, but not geek enough
- 9:59Speaker 1: to understand it.
- 10:00Speaker 6: Have gone yeah me too brother yeah and uh.
- 10:03Speaker 8: Paul and i are by the way going to get
- 10:05Speaker 8: been to a run fair at some point during our lifetime.
- 10:08Speaker 7: Yeah i don't i don't curse those who go it's
- 10:11Speaker 7: just i haven't gotten to that point yet i haven't
- 10:12Speaker 7: had anybody that wanted me to go enough for me
- 10:15Speaker 7: to actually go faces fear hi.
- 10:18Speaker 6: But but anyway um Whenever you go down to the
- 10:22Speaker 6: Ren Faire, apparently the people running it, they're in costume,
- 10:27Speaker 6: and they stay to the part. They stay in character
- 10:32Speaker 6: no matter what. If you are a leather mug maker,
- 10:36Speaker 6: if your dress is a leather mug, you are a
- 10:38Speaker 6: leather mug maker. It's your life. Yeah, and you do
- 10:41Speaker 6: the whole huzzah, avast you. You stay in character no
- 10:44Speaker 6: matter what. What's up, G?
- 10:45Speaker 2: What's up, G?
- 10:45Speaker 6: It's sort of like.
- 10:46Speaker 1: Is that not okay?
- 10:47Speaker 6: It's not okay.
- 10:48Speaker 8: What is that strange talking box you're talking to?
- 10:51Speaker 1: Exactly.
- 10:52Speaker 8: What manner of spirits are talking to you through that box?
- 10:54Speaker 6: It's sort of like when you go to Buckingham Palace,
- 10:56Speaker 6: as we all do, and you try to get the
- 10:58Speaker 6: British guards to break their straight face. You just can't
- 11:02Speaker 6: do it. The best story I ever heard, a bunch
- 11:04Speaker 6: of guys cosplayed, or they got a bunch of authentic
- 11:08Speaker 6: Star Trek costumes. And they went to the Renaissance Faire
- 11:12Speaker 6: and they were pretending that they were actually from Starfleet
- 11:16Speaker 6: and they've gone back in time to some Renaissance planet.
- 11:19Speaker 6: And so it was like this nerd standoff because the
- 11:24Speaker 6: people at the Ren Faire were staying in character. And
- 11:29Speaker 6: they were trying to be like, what be these strange
- 11:31Speaker 6: sky gods that have come? And the Star Trek guys
- 11:34Speaker 6: were staying in character. What are these creatures? They were
- 11:37Speaker 6: doing the tricorder captain. These seem to be natives.
- 11:41Speaker 1: These backward-ass people. I think we need to shoot a
- 11:45Speaker 1: few of them and see what happens.
- 11:46Speaker 6: It was like trying to see which group of nerds
- 11:48Speaker 6: would flinch first.
- 11:50Speaker 1: Out-nerd each other.
- 11:53Speaker 7: I think what we need to do then is we
- 11:56Speaker 7: need to do, again, another joint project. We all need
- 11:59Speaker 7: to go there and try to record an episode there
- 12:02Speaker 7: so that it would be nothing but.
- 12:03Speaker 1: Us going, Hi, how's it going? What is this you're
- 12:06Speaker 1: holding in front of me?
- 12:07Speaker 7: It'll just, everyone will just, nothing but like an hour
- 12:10Speaker 7: of complete confusion.
- 12:11Speaker 8: Of, what is this?
- 12:13Speaker 7: What may I say be that that ye be holding?
- 12:17Speaker 9: What?
- 12:18Speaker 6: Well, you know, Brian.
- 12:19Speaker 1: Dude, where's the pretzels? I want a big salted pretzel.
- 12:22Speaker 1: Is that somewhere?
- 12:23Speaker 6: You had actually. Maybe yonder. You had actually floated the
- 12:25Speaker 6: idea that Movie Meltdown and Tower of Technobabble take a
- 12:28Speaker 6: joint field trip to the Creation Museum.
- 12:31Speaker 1: I'm all for that.
- 12:32Speaker 6: And I think stuff like that might happen if we're there.
- 12:35Speaker 1: I think we need to do that. And we can
- 12:37Speaker 1: both take recorders and both be recording simultaneous episodes.
- 12:41Speaker 6: That's how you get stereo.
- 12:43Speaker 7: And then you can listen to them at the same
- 12:44Speaker 7: time and be like, what the hell's wrong with these guys?
- 12:48Speaker 7: I'm sure that will be the reaction most people have.
- 12:51Speaker 8: Well, one of our episodes needs to end on a cliffhanger,
- 12:53Speaker 8: and then the other one.
- 12:54Speaker 1: That's how you do it.
- 12:55Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 12:56Speaker 7: We'll be cornered by the crazy religious fanatics, and they'll
- 13:01Speaker 7: be about ready to kill us. Tune in next time
- 13:04Speaker 7: to find out if our heroes survive.
- 13:06Speaker 6: Will Jesus come and save them?
- 13:10Speaker 8: Will Ben be eaten by the pterodactyl that didn't exist?
- 13:12Speaker 1: Or will they ride off on a triceratops? Find out
- 13:15Speaker 1: next week. I do believe in dinosaurs.
- 13:16Speaker 2: I do.
- 13:16Speaker 6: I do believe in dinosaurs. Alleyoop was real.
- 13:20Speaker 1: I think this should all happen.
- 13:22Speaker 8: I don't even know if we need the Creation Museum, actually.
- 13:24Speaker 1: We could just pretty much fake it. We could just
- 13:26Speaker 1: sit around and do that.
- 13:27Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 13:28Speaker 1: We probably would anyway, really.
- 13:30Speaker 6: Go to any, you know, snake handling church and see
- 13:32Speaker 6: what happens, you know. Well, can you get the organ
- 13:36Speaker 6: music on these mics? Is it bleeding through? People at
- 13:41Speaker 6: home who can't see this, on the other side of
- 13:44Speaker 6: the room, there is a, I guess it's a Phantom
- 13:48Speaker 6: of the Opera, Boris Karloff. Not the sexy Phantom of
- 13:52Speaker 6: the Opera. This is your proper black and white silent
- 13:56Speaker 6: movie Phantom of the Opera.
- 13:58Speaker 8: Yes, one side of his face wasn't just a little
- 14:00Speaker 8: messed up.
- 14:01Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah.
- 14:01Speaker 1: It was pretty messed up all over.
- 14:03Speaker 8: It was tore up.
- 14:04Speaker 6: And they've got this life-size diorama of the figure standing
- 14:09Speaker 6: in front of a pipe organ. And we keep hearing
- 14:10Speaker 6: pipe organ music kind of shooting at us. It's making
- 14:14Speaker 6: me feel like I should talk like this, Brian. I
- 14:17Speaker 6: don't know.
- 14:18Speaker 1: I don't hear any difference. Don't you always talk like that?
- 14:21Speaker 8: Do you always have organ music around you?
- 14:23Speaker 6: Yeah. Don't you always hear organ music?
- 14:25Speaker 8: That's my personal soundtrack, man.
- 14:28Speaker 6: So, hey, you were going to be interviewing the Bowser Galactica.
- 14:33Speaker 6: Who's this guy that you're.
- 14:34Speaker 1: Going to be talking to? We will be talking to Mr.
- 14:37Speaker 7: Eric Chu, who those who have been listening to our
- 14:40Speaker 7: show are probably very familiar with Eric.
- 14:42Speaker 1: He was on last year, and he had some very.
- 14:47Speaker 1: Kind things to say about our movie choice? Explain that.
- 14:53Speaker 6: Explain that.
- 14:55Speaker 7: We reviewed the Tim Burton Dark Shadows. And we all
- 15:00Speaker 7: had issues with it. Let's put it that way.
- 15:02Speaker 3: True, yes.
- 15:03Speaker 7: And he's actually worked with Tim indirectly. He actually used
- 15:07Speaker 7: to do animation for the Beetlejuice series.
- 15:09Speaker 3: Really? Yeah.
- 15:10Speaker 1: Which I brought up because I thought it was awesome,
- 15:12Speaker 1: and he was just like, oh, that show.
- 15:14Speaker 7: That was like the scourge of his resume. Brought up
- 15:17Speaker 7: his porn past. I was just like, yeah, basically, he
- 15:20Speaker 7: was just like, oh, that thing, no. So, yeah, he
- 15:24Speaker 7: was not thrilled that I... And I continued, like, the
- 15:27Speaker 7: entire time. He told me how much he didn't like
- 15:29Speaker 7: the show and what he... thought was wrong with it
- 15:31Speaker 7: and by the end i was like well you're wrong
- 15:33Speaker 7: but i know it's your life and like your you
- 15:35Speaker 7: know work in the past but no you're wrong.
- 15:37Speaker 8: You're mistaken about your life sir yeah i thought so
- 15:40Speaker 8: you're too close bo's back you want to say hi
- 15:43Speaker 8: hi hey.
- 15:43Speaker 6: Bo hello bo has i believe the sexiest voice in
- 15:48Speaker 6: podcasting today i must.
- 15:50Speaker 10: Say do i now you do oh thank you.
- 15:53Speaker 6: I'm getting lost in your eyes now that i can
- 15:55Speaker 6: see you usually i have to stare at my ipod
- 15:57Speaker 6: and think What does he look like? But now I
- 16:00Speaker 6: see him. It's like creating this... It's too much, man.
- 16:03Speaker 3: Pull back.
- 16:03Speaker 6: I need an adult.
- 16:05Speaker 2: No, no.
- 16:06Speaker 11: It's going to get kind of weird because, I mean,
- 16:07Speaker 11: the mics are kind of phallic as it is. And,
- 16:09Speaker 11: you know, we're having this really bromosexual sort of like
- 16:11Speaker 11: moment here. Just right out in the middle of Wonderfest.
- 16:14Speaker 11: Nobody's going to ask any questions. Especially when you say
- 16:17Speaker 11: you're going to Wonderfest. I mean, it sounds kind of.
- 16:20Speaker 8: There are so many rooms right above our.
- 16:22Speaker 6: Heads, guys. Yeah. Stuff just happens.
- 16:26Speaker 10: Is this something you're even going to be able to use?
- 16:27Speaker 10: You're going to have to cut it right out, aren't you?
- 16:30Speaker 1: You know how our show works, right?
- 16:32Speaker 10: What, are we supposed to be talking about movies or something?
- 16:35Speaker 6: Oh, yeah.
- 16:35Speaker 1: What is our topic today?
- 16:36Speaker 6: What is our topic today, Brian?
- 16:39Speaker 1: Hanging out at Wonderfest.
- 16:41Speaker 7: That's how all of these go.
- 16:44Speaker 6: I have a good movie topic I can throw out.
- 16:47Speaker 6: What are your favorite Starship designs and movies?
- 16:51Speaker 3: Why?
- 16:52Speaker 12: All right.
- 16:53Speaker 1: Do you need to get in on this now? favorite
- 16:56Speaker 1: starship designs?
- 16:58Speaker 11: In the way of favorite starship designs, I really like
- 17:00Speaker 11: the Sulaco from Aliens, just because it looks so utilitarian.
- 17:04Speaker 11: I mean, there's nothing sleek about it whatsoever. I mean,
- 17:08Speaker 11: it looks very much like an oil rig floating in space.
- 17:11Speaker 11: I mean, I'm like, that looks plausible. If you're actually
- 17:13Speaker 11: in an era to where you have businesses going back
- 17:17Speaker 11: and forth trying to harvest different cores and materials from
- 17:21Speaker 11: other planets, I mean, you aren't going to have these
- 17:22Speaker 11: really pretty looking spaceships. I mean, They are just going
- 17:25Speaker 11: to look very clunky and almost patched together and scrapped together.
- 17:29Speaker 11: I mean, that's kind of up there with the Millennium Falcon, too.
- 17:32Speaker 11: I know that's sort of probably a cheesy one to pick,
- 17:34Speaker 11: but the fact that it's a spaceship that doesn't ever work.
- 17:37Speaker 10: It's like my car. I like that for that reason.
- 17:40Speaker 6: Why do you guys think whenever spaceships first started being
- 17:44Speaker 6: shown in movies, they were always completely sleek? you know,
- 17:48Speaker 6: completely white, shiny, no seams at all? Why is that?
- 17:52Speaker 7: Because that's what the UFOs look like when we started
- 17:55Speaker 7: seeing them.
- 17:57Speaker 1: You believe in all that stuff.
- 17:58Speaker 6: Go ahead.
- 17:59Speaker 11: I was going to say also, too, probably back then,
- 18:03Speaker 11: just less of an understanding of aerodynamics and that. It
- 18:07Speaker 11: probably just more the mentality of thinking it has to
- 18:09Speaker 11: be shaped like a flat-out rocket. Because, I mean, that's
- 18:13Speaker 11: the type of thing you're going to be able to launch.
- 18:14Speaker 11: So it's just assumed that all spaceships, even once they're
- 18:16Speaker 11: in space... have to be when, you know, as time's
- 18:20Speaker 11: gone on, it's gotten more of the understanding. It's like, no,
- 18:22Speaker 11: you can pretty much have any shape once you're in
- 18:24Speaker 11: space because there's not going to be anything to, you know, like,
- 18:26Speaker 11: prevent you from moving.
- 18:28Speaker 6: You know, there's an old movie serial called, I think
- 18:32Speaker 6: it's Commander Cody or something. It's basically one of these
- 18:36Speaker 6: rocket men rip-off concept things. And in the show, they
- 18:41Speaker 6: go to the moon and they have a rocket, you know,
- 18:45Speaker 6: and as they're going to the moon... you never see
- 18:48Speaker 6: them leave the blue atmosphere and clouds and all that.
- 18:52Speaker 6: And I think that they were assuming that in space,
- 18:57Speaker 6: between the Earth and the moon, it would just be
- 19:00Speaker 6: the same atmosphere, you know?
- 19:02Speaker 1: You wouldn't know any different, really. You'd get up there.
- 19:05Speaker 6: No one had actually been there except maybe dogs, and
- 19:07Speaker 6: they weren't really, you know.
- 19:09Speaker 1: Or speaking Russian.
- 19:10Speaker 11: Wasn't it the Aztec mummy who fought Commando Cody in
- 19:13Speaker 11: the series?
- 19:14Speaker 6: Probably.
- 19:15Speaker 1: I think so, yeah. Sounds about right. If not, we'll
- 19:17Speaker 1: go with it.
- 19:17Speaker 6: But it was just really interesting that it showed the
- 19:21Speaker 6: rocket still going through clouds and blue. Well, it was
- 19:23Speaker 6: gray sky like Brian's shirt. But, you know, the assumption
- 19:27Speaker 6: was it was blue sky and you never saw black
- 19:30Speaker 6: space or stars. And I can see where people would think, well,
- 19:34Speaker 6: obviously it's daylight and there would still be clouds in
- 19:37Speaker 6: space and blueness. I don't know.
- 19:40Speaker 8: It's just very clear.
- 19:42Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 19:43Speaker 6: Well, let me ask you this, boat do you think
- 19:44Speaker 6: that alien you know do they kind of they kind
- 19:48Speaker 6: of started the trend maybe of getting away from the
- 19:52Speaker 6: super sleek spaceship getting more hands-on and gritty and dirty
- 19:56Speaker 6: do you think that it's kind of ruined it now
- 19:59Speaker 6: where it's like that's all you ever see people are
- 20:02Speaker 6: Whenever people make spaceships now, it always looks like an
- 20:06Speaker 6: industrial park in space pretty much. They've kind of gotten
- 20:09Speaker 6: away from the prettiness. I mean, what do you think?
- 20:13Speaker 8: The dump truck syndrome.
- 20:15Speaker 1: So I'm trying to think.
- 20:16Speaker 11: I mean, in the way of most recent spaceships that
- 20:19Speaker 11: I thought had unique designs, it sort of got away
- 20:20Speaker 11: from that. Sunshine had a really, really cool one.
- 20:24Speaker 6: Sorry, what? Sunshine, the Danny Boyle film.
- 20:26Speaker 1: Did you ever see that? No, I've kind of forgotten
- 20:28Speaker 1: what that one looks like.
- 20:29Speaker 6: Paint the picture in our minds here.
- 20:32Speaker 10: Basically, it's just a huge mirror.
- 20:36Speaker 8: It kind of looks like a mushroom.
- 20:39Speaker 11: The mirror basically protects them from the sunlight as they
- 20:41Speaker 11: get closer and closer to the sun.
- 20:43Speaker 1: Really, it's just.
- 20:45Speaker 11: Extremely thin, extremely narrow, almost like just a chain of
- 20:49Speaker 11: rooms or compartments as you go along that's just directly
- 20:53Speaker 11: behind it. And they can, like, refract the sunlight if
- 20:56Speaker 11: they need to to help the plants grow that are
- 20:58Speaker 11: inside that are providing the oxygen. It's very much like
- 21:01Speaker 11: just a science lab that's floating towards the sun. I mean,
- 21:04Speaker 11: that's a really cool design that they have in that. But, yeah,
- 21:09Speaker 11: now that you mention it, yeah, everybody has kind of
- 21:11Speaker 11: gone in the opposite direction where it's like everything is industrial.
- 21:15Speaker 10: I don't know really who could have started that. It
- 21:20Speaker 10: might have been the Alien series.
- 21:22Speaker 6: Well, was it Star Wars, maybe? No, Star Wars. I
- 21:25Speaker 6: can't remember what came first.
- 21:28Speaker 1: Yeah, Star Wars was first.
- 21:29Speaker 11: Silent Running kind of had a utilitarian look to it
- 21:32Speaker 11: as well, the ship and that. I can't think of
- 21:34Speaker 11: the name of it.
- 21:35Speaker 6: I don't know. That's a good question.
- 21:37Speaker 10: What is that first spaceship that sort of tipped the scales?
- 21:40Speaker 6: That broke the mold of the super sleek kind of.
- 21:45Speaker 7: I mean, I guess popular-wise, Millennium Falcon. But yeah, Nostromo
- 21:48Speaker 7: is pretty close. I mean, that one makes it not
- 21:50Speaker 7: cool at all. It is a big tanker just rolling
- 21:54Speaker 7: along in space.
- 21:55Speaker 6: You know, the thing about the Falcon, when I was
- 21:58Speaker 6: a kid, I always thought it was mind-blowing. I did
- 22:02Speaker 6: not understand why the control center, the cockpit, if you will,
- 22:07Speaker 6: was on the side of the ship. And it didn't
- 22:12Speaker 6: make any sense to me, but I knew that I
- 22:14Speaker 6: loved it. I didn't know why. It was so different.
- 22:18Speaker 11: The instant you said that, here in the future, once
- 22:20Speaker 11: this episode's uploaded, every single sci-fi geek who's a hardcore
- 22:24Speaker 11: Star Wars fan is going to be like, well, according
- 22:26Speaker 11: to the expanded universe, the reason that exists is done.
- 22:29Speaker 11: They're going to start twitching.
- 22:31Speaker 6: It's like, you fool.
- 22:32Speaker 1: If they'd been here, they would have been like, son
- 22:34Speaker 1: of a bitch, give me the microphone.
- 22:35Speaker 11: They would have explained it.
- 22:36Speaker 6: Because I want to know, how did he turn the
- 22:38Speaker 6: Falcon left? You know?
- 22:41Speaker 1: One of those cool cameras.
- 22:43Speaker 6: He's got a textbook blind spot on his left side.
- 22:46Speaker 8: That's what Chewie was for.
- 22:48Speaker 6: It didn't make any sense to me.
- 22:49Speaker 8: He looks out the other side.
- 22:51Speaker 6: Well, that's for turning right. How do you turn left?
- 22:53Speaker 11: Maybe that's why the thing never worked. He was just
- 22:55Speaker 11: constantly colliding with asteroids.
- 22:58Speaker 1: That could be a very good reason.
- 22:59Speaker 8: While we're on Starship Geometry, why is the Enterprise Bridge
- 23:02Speaker 8: on top of the saucer section right where it's hittable?
- 23:06Speaker 8: It's like you put it in the middle of the
- 23:08Speaker 8: ship somewhere.
- 23:09Speaker 6: And it's at the middle of a big circle, like
- 23:11Speaker 6: a target, if you will.
- 23:12Speaker 1: Bullseye.
- 23:13Speaker 8: Just curious.
- 23:15Speaker 1: Bad design.
- 23:16Speaker 8: There might not be an answer, but I'd put it
- 23:17Speaker 8: in the guts of the ship where you'd have to
- 23:19Speaker 8: go through a lot of ship to get to it.
- 23:20Speaker 1: Put it at the tail end. I mean, nobody shoots
- 23:23Speaker 1: for the ass end of it.
- 23:24Speaker 11: If you didn't have it right there, then when they
- 23:26Speaker 11: blow out the sky dome every time they have a fight,
- 23:29Speaker 11: you wouldn't have anything to come falling down on them.
- 23:31Speaker 11: How would you know they're in battle unless you had
- 23:32Speaker 11: just shit flying everywhere? Which has always amazed me that
- 23:35Speaker 11: on Star Trek, it's like, you can have sparks and
- 23:37Speaker 11: just pieces flying everywhere.
- 23:39Speaker 10: It's like, Haven't they punctured the hull?
- 23:42Speaker 5: No.
- 23:44Speaker 8: Well, it goes to the whole thing about why don't
- 23:45Speaker 8: they have surge protectors on their control panels. I mean, jeez.
- 23:48Speaker 8: I mean, they've got shrapnel coming right out of the
- 23:50Speaker 8: control panel. Just have some sort of circuit breaker on it.
- 23:54Speaker 6: You know, if Starfleet wasn't a bunch of space liberals,
- 23:59Speaker 6: I think they should have kept the bridge.
- 24:01Speaker 1: This is where we need Paul Brokaw here again. It's
- 24:03Speaker 1: just like, Captain Obama, Starship Enterprise.
- 24:07Speaker 6: Oh, we don't use money in the future. We've evolved
- 24:09Speaker 6: past that. How did they ever get out of the
- 24:11Speaker 6: 20th century? Eye roll. If I had been creating starships,
- 24:17Speaker 6: I would have kept the bridge at the top, but
- 24:19Speaker 6: it would have been a dummy bridge. It would have
- 24:22Speaker 6: been like.
- 24:23Speaker 1: Pretty sneaky.
- 24:24Speaker 6: I would have even painted a giant arrow on the
- 24:27Speaker 6: hull of the ship. Bridge, do not hit.
- 24:29Speaker 1: Bridge, do not hit.
- 24:31Speaker 6: And then have the actual sneaky actual bridge way down
- 24:35Speaker 6: at the back end where no one would think to
- 24:37Speaker 6: hit it. And like, this starship's unstoppable.
- 24:40Speaker 8: They think they destroyed the bridge.
- 24:43Speaker 1: You guys are so lame.
- 24:44Speaker 6: Idiot Klingons, I swear.
- 24:47Speaker 1: Speaking of the bridge, I better head back. But I'll
- 24:49Speaker 1: keep stopping by.
- 24:50Speaker 3: Okay.
- 24:52Speaker 1: Back to the command post.
- 24:56Speaker 4: Let's go to the beach each let's go get a
- 24:59Speaker 4: wave they say what they gonna say have a drink
- 25:01Speaker 4: clink found a bud light bad bitches like me it's
- 25:04Speaker 4: hard to come by the patrol oh let's go get
- 25:06Speaker 4: it on the zone oh yes i'm in the zone
- 25:08Speaker 4: is it two three leave a good tip i'm gonna
- 25:10Speaker 4: blow all of my money.
- 25:11Speaker 6: And don't get.
- 25:22Speaker 8: If you want more, more.
- 25:26Speaker 12: Then here I am Starships were meant to fly Hands
- 25:32Speaker 12: up and touch the sky Can't stop, cause we're so
- 25:36Speaker 12: high Let's do this one more time Starships were.
- 25:42Speaker 1: Meant to fly.
- 25:49Speaker 12: And touch the sky let's go one last time we're
- 25:58Speaker 12: higher than a mother f * * *.
- 26:01Speaker 3: Er Uh, yes, sir. May I help you?
- 26:20Speaker 5: Oh, I'd like two of those, please.
- 26:22Speaker 8: Hot dogs?
- 26:23Speaker 3: Yes, sir.
- 26:24Speaker 6: And three of those.
- 26:25Speaker 8: And one of those.
- 26:28Speaker 4: And five bars of these, and a cup of a
- 26:30Speaker 4: nice hot liquid.
- 26:32Speaker 3: Coffee.
- 26:33Speaker 6: Coming right up.
- 26:34Speaker 9: Oh, and two bags of those peculiar white coffee material.
- 26:38Speaker 3: You mean our crunchy popcorn. Shall I wrap that for.
- 26:43Speaker 6: You, sir? Oh, that's all right.
- 26:45Speaker 9: My saucer's just outside.
- 26:48Speaker 5: They come from miles to enjoy our intermission.
- 26:51Speaker 12: ¶ ¶.
- 26:58Speaker 2: All his life, he only cared about one thing, himself.
- 27:02Speaker 2: But now, the best hotshot pilot in the galaxy was
- 27:06Speaker 2: playing babysitter to an old man, a green kid, two robots,
- 27:11Speaker 2: and a princess. Han Solo really had his hands full.
- 27:15Speaker 2: Han Solo is back. Star Wars is back. Star Wars.
- 27:20Speaker 2: Rated PG. Parental guidance suggested.
- 27:27Speaker 1: Hey guys, look what I've got. Check out these awesome
- 27:30Speaker 1: earbuds I'm using right now.
- 27:33Speaker 8: Look at that.
- 27:33Speaker 1: That's wood right there. That's actual wood.
- 27:37Speaker 6: Why would you use wood to make technology?
- 27:39Speaker 1: Because they're... It's like... They're steampunk.
- 27:43Speaker 5: Is steampunk really wood?
- 27:45Speaker 6: I thought it was more of a brass thing.
- 27:46Speaker 1: Well, you've got to work the wood in to hold
- 27:48Speaker 1: the brass together. These are the fancy high-end steampunk versions
- 27:52Speaker 1: with a mic built in, mind you. But yeah, where
- 27:56Speaker 1: would I... Get these you under tweaked audio.
- 28:02Speaker 13: Way to pitch.
- 28:03Speaker 1: You want to hear more? You say.
- 28:07Speaker 6: Tweaked audio.com.
- 28:08Speaker 7: Hey, they are available in three styles and seven colors
- 28:12Speaker 7: and they sound pretty damn good. I kind of forgot
- 28:14Speaker 7: cause I hadn't had my old pair in a while
- 28:17Speaker 7: and I was using the knockoff crappy ones I bought
- 28:19Speaker 7: at the store and I, I got these and put
- 28:22Speaker 7: them in.
- 28:22Speaker 1: I was like, Oh shit, that's right. These are actually
- 28:24Speaker 1: really good. So they are professional quality earbuds, mind you. And,
- 28:28Speaker 1: you know, noise reducing, compatible with your iPods and most phones,
- 28:34Speaker 1: unless you have a dumb phone. You should really get
- 28:35Speaker 1: a smartphone, not a dumb phone. So anyway, the basic
- 28:40Speaker 1: rundown here, if you need yourself some earbuds, tweakedaudio.com. And
- 28:44Speaker 1: if you go there, there's a deal. There's a Meltdown deal.
- 28:48Speaker 7: If you go, there's a discount code and you put
- 28:50Speaker 7: in Meltdown, you get 33% off and free shipping.
- 28:54Speaker 1: You guys are excited, right?
- 28:56Speaker 13: Yeah. Oh, yeah.
- 28:57Speaker 1: As well you should be. Tweakedaudio.com. Use the Meltdown code.
- 29:01Speaker 1: That's all I'm saying.
- 29:04Speaker 6: Dave, I do not get superheroes. Oh, my God. I
- 29:07Speaker 6: don't get you. What don't you get? Towerbot here.
- 29:11Speaker 14: Well, the meatbags were going to say that if you're
- 29:14Speaker 14: a geek and like podcasts, then you could try Tower
- 29:17Speaker 14: of Technobabble at www.toweroftechnobabble.com.
- 29:22Speaker 6: Then this started. Well, it's up to you.
- 29:26Speaker 14: I'm gonna get my taser and put a stop to this.
- 29:29Speaker 6: Tower bot out. Okay, monkeys. It's nap time.
- 29:41Speaker 1: Hey kids, it's Brian.
- 29:43Speaker 7: So you're listening to this episode, and it sounds pretty good, right?
- 29:47Speaker 7: That's because we're using our new mics from the Doo-Wop Shop.
- 29:51Speaker 7: We are using the VLH SM2000s that are made specifically
- 29:55Speaker 7: for the Doo-Wop Shop. And if you want one, you
- 29:58Speaker 7: can go get one yourself. They are actually only $ 65
- 30:00Speaker 7: if you want to buy one, or they rent everything
- 30:03Speaker 7: in the Doo-Wop shop, so you can go there and
- 30:05Speaker 7: get it for as little as $ 5 a month. So
- 30:07Speaker 7: you too can be out there using your microphones to
- 30:10Speaker 7: record a show, or interview people, or, I don't know,
- 30:13Speaker 7: most people probably have, like, bands and, you know, rent
- 30:15Speaker 7: instruments and stuff, which they also do. They have a
- 30:17Speaker 7: huge selection.
- 30:18Speaker 1: Of instruments, so... Anything you need for any type of event,
- 30:22Speaker 1: whether it's a music show or a business meeting or
- 30:25Speaker 1: whatever kind of occasion you've got, they've pretty much got
- 30:27Speaker 1: everything covered. So if they are located in Louisville, you
- 30:30Speaker 1: can go to the Highland Store at 1587 Bartstown Road
- 30:35Speaker 1: or in the East End at 2915 South Hirspurn Parkway.
- 30:38Speaker 7: Even if you're not in the area, they have the
- 30:40Speaker 7: website like most businesses, but you go to doo-wop.com. And specifically,
- 30:45Speaker 7: they have a huge selection of karaoke discs. So you
- 30:48Speaker 7: can actually go to the website. They have thousands of
- 30:50Speaker 7: titles to choose from, and they're.
- 30:52Speaker 1: Only like $ 4. 99 a month.
- 30:53Speaker 7: So whatever you need karaoke-wise, they can hook you up
- 30:56Speaker 7: through the internet, and you don't even have to be
- 30:58Speaker 7: in the area.
- 30:59Speaker 1: So again, that is doo-wop.com.
- 31:02Speaker 13: Go there.
- 31:03Speaker 7: They'll have whatever you need. They certainly did with us
- 31:05Speaker 7: for the mic. So yeah, go to doo-wop.com and check
- 31:08Speaker 7: it out.
- 31:27Speaker 2: Hi, this is Lance Henderson, and you're listening to Movie Meltdown.
- 31:30Speaker 3: Listen if you dare.
- 31:38Speaker 13: It's part of your problem, you know.
- 31:39Speaker 3: You haven't seen enough movies.
- 31:40Speaker 8: All of life's riddles are answered in the movies.
- 31:43Speaker 6: And now, on with the show.
- 31:56Speaker 8: You a G, you a G, G, G.
- 31:57Speaker 9: My name is a nigga, you can call me nigga.
- 32:09Speaker 12: Moments of love Can't stop and touch the sky Can't stop,
- 32:14Speaker 12: this is so hard Let's do it one more time Starships,
- 32:19Speaker 12: moments of love Can't.
- 32:21Speaker 1: Stop and touch the sky.
- 32:48Speaker 6: Well, Dave, what are your favorite starship-y designs? What do
- 32:54Speaker 6: you like?
- 32:54Speaker 8: And as a kid, it's weird, but I always loved
- 32:56Speaker 8: the Y-Wing fighter in Star Wars. I don't know why
- 33:00Speaker 8: that one really connected with me.
- 33:01Speaker 1: It's funny that it wasn't the popular one. Because that's
- 33:05Speaker 1: the thing.
- 33:05Speaker 7: I always remember playing with the toys, and the X-Wing
- 33:07Speaker 7: got all of them, because I guess Luke flew it.
- 33:09Speaker 1: But when you go back and watch the movie, the
- 33:12Speaker 1: Y-Wings are equally as much involved, and nobody cared that
- 33:15Speaker 1: much about it.
- 33:15Speaker 6: They always seemed bulkier. They weren't really... navigating the vacuum
- 33:19Speaker 6: of space as easily as the x-wing well.
- 33:22Speaker 8: You know they were older than it was it was
- 33:24Speaker 8: the later it was the earlier technology but i always
- 33:26Speaker 8: kind of i don't know i dug them.
- 33:29Speaker 6: I always wanted the toy i didn't have the toy
- 33:32Speaker 6: i i like the way that the toy had the
- 33:34Speaker 6: ability for you to put figures in and and oh
- 33:38Speaker 6: no well of course you could do it in the
- 33:40Speaker 6: x-wing i mean you could You could put a droid in.
- 33:43Speaker 6: You couldn't do that in the X-Wing toy.
- 33:45Speaker 1: You didn't have a trap door.
- 33:47Speaker 6: Yeah. Hey, in the future, it's all trap doors, man.
- 33:52Speaker 13: It's all trap doors.
- 33:52Speaker 8: Trap door technology took leaps and bounds.
- 33:54Speaker 6: It's trap doors and ball bearings in the future. That's
- 33:57Speaker 6: all it is.
- 33:57Speaker 1: That's how it runs, all this stuff.
- 33:58Speaker 6: Industrial parks and space. Oh, wow. What do you like, Brian?
- 34:06Speaker 7: The sad thing is I've asked this question before. So
- 34:10Speaker 7: I think I also answered it at that time. But
- 34:12Speaker 7: for anyone who doesn't remember a long, long time ago,
- 34:14Speaker 7: it's been a good year and a half at least.
- 34:17Speaker 7: I was always, and while we're in the nerdy Star
- 34:20Speaker 7: Wars universe, I was always partial to the A-Wing fighter,
- 34:22Speaker 7: which you never even see. But since we brought up
- 34:26Speaker 7: the clunky other ships versus sleek, to me, it's the
- 34:30Speaker 7: most cool sports car ship in the Star Wars universe.
- 34:35Speaker 1: Everything else is so clunky and weird.
- 34:37Speaker 7: And even the X-Wing is like, That one is just
- 34:40Speaker 7: like a sports car.
- 34:41Speaker 1: It happens to be a spaceship.
- 34:43Speaker 8: Actually, it looks a lot like the Jedi fighters in
- 34:45Speaker 8: the prequels.
- 34:48Speaker 1: They ripped themselves off is what you're saying.
- 34:51Speaker 8: It's an homage to a better time.
- 34:54Speaker 1: A backwards homage.
- 34:56Speaker 6: I would really like to talk to someone who's really
- 34:58Speaker 6: just gone a little bit too far into the fan
- 35:01Speaker 6: reasoning on why things work the way they do. Why
- 35:05Speaker 6: does having the X-Wing wings open up into that X formation,
- 35:10Speaker 6: make them more formidable than like your Y wing on
- 35:13Speaker 6: the side.
- 35:13Speaker 13: You know.
- 35:13Speaker 6: Battle ready.
- 35:19Speaker 8: Would you like me to go down the rabbit hole?
- 35:20Speaker 6: Please do. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Oh, God.
- 35:22Speaker 8: Well, the Y-Wing was designed as a bomber more than
- 35:25Speaker 8: a tactical fighter, whereas the X-Wing has a better field
- 35:28Speaker 8: of fire when the S-Foil is in an attack position.
- 35:31Speaker 6: The whole idea of bombers in space, there is no
- 35:33Speaker 6: down in space. You don't drop bombs down. You throw
- 35:36Speaker 6: them real hard. But isn't that just like shooting something?
- 35:38Speaker 1: It slowly wanders towards your target.
- 35:40Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 35:44Speaker 8: Well, we were going about half the speed of light,
- 35:46Speaker 8: so we should have released it three days ago.
- 35:48Speaker 6: Got it.
- 35:49Speaker 9: Oops.
- 35:50Speaker 1: This battle's all messed up.
- 35:57Speaker 6: Yeah, like, you know how they have compasses in real aircraft?
- 36:03Speaker 1: I don't think that works in space.
- 36:04Speaker 6: Yeah, in space they have a compass that shows which
- 36:06Speaker 6: way's up and which way's down, so they know which
- 36:08Speaker 6: way to drop their bombs. Exactly.
- 36:10Speaker 8: It would be embarrassing to drop it up.
- 36:11Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 36:14Speaker 1: Stupid Klingons.
- 36:14Speaker 6: As far as.
- 36:17Speaker 8: Direction goes, there was an episode of Star Trek where
- 36:19Speaker 8: they said something about the western section of the galaxy.
- 36:23Speaker 8: I don't remember which one it was, but I just
- 36:25Speaker 8: remember it.
- 36:25Speaker 6: Well, I'll just agree that this way is west. Got it.
- 36:29Speaker 6: Moving on.
- 36:30Speaker 1: Manifest destiny. We are taking over the universe.
- 36:33Speaker 6: The reason I'm asking about starships and stuff is we
- 36:36Speaker 6: were in one of the other rooms and there's just
- 36:40Speaker 6: little spaceship models everywhere and I... love little toys i
- 36:44Speaker 6: i can't help it it's just uh and there were
- 36:48Speaker 6: starfleet designs i had never heard of i mean i
- 36:51Speaker 6: think really some of these guys will take the the
- 36:54Speaker 6: basically the the round starting piece of your basic star
- 36:59Speaker 6: starship enterprise and they'll just start gluing on engine pods
- 37:02Speaker 6: and whatever okay yeah this is the uh arcadies class
- 37:06Speaker 6: and uh yeah and they just go on and That's.
- 37:09Speaker 1: The wonder of making your own models.
- 37:11Speaker 6: You can do whatever the hell you want. Is that
- 37:13Speaker 6: where the wonder fest comes from?
- 37:14Speaker 1: The wonder.
- 37:15Speaker 8: Where does the fest come from?
- 37:17Speaker 1: Look how festive this is. We are quite festive.
- 37:21Speaker 8: Ask and answer.
- 37:23Speaker 6: Oh, that's great.
- 37:24Speaker 1: So, yeah, that's the beauty of making these models is
- 37:26Speaker 1: you can do whatever you want.
- 37:28Speaker 8: As long as your nacelles keep the warp geometry correct.
- 37:30Speaker 1: There you go. Science. It's all about science. Hard space
- 37:35Speaker 1: fictional science.
- 37:35Speaker 6: Well, actually.
- 37:36Speaker 8: Hard space science.
- 37:37Speaker 6: We were talking about this the other day, actually. Like,
- 37:41Speaker 6: Dave and I could not fix a car engine to
- 37:44Speaker 6: save our life. We couldn't change out a spark plug.
- 37:46Speaker 6: But for some reason, if anyone was to ask us,
- 37:48Speaker 6: how does warp theory work? Where you... Yeah. Geeks.
- 37:53Speaker 12: Anyway.
- 37:54Speaker 8: Well, you've got to keep your dilithium matrix clean. Otherwise,
- 37:56Speaker 8: it'll fracture and then you're just S.O.L.
- 37:59Speaker 3: Wow.
- 38:01Speaker 1: Anyway....
- 38:03Speaker 8: We put the babble in Technobabble of Tower of Technobabble.
- 38:06Speaker 6: Yes.
- 38:07Speaker 1: That is true.
- 38:08Speaker 6: There's also a lot of model weapons over there, too.
- 38:11Speaker 6: I saw an original Colonial Blaster from the 1978 Battlestar Galactica.
- 38:17Speaker 2: Oh.
- 38:18Speaker 1: I didn't see any lightsabers.
- 38:20Speaker 8: Well, sure.
- 38:21Speaker 6: I didn't see any lightsabers over there. It's all guns.
- 38:24Speaker 1: Mostly guns. People like guns.
- 38:26Speaker 6: This is like space NRA over there. The SNRA.
- 38:33Speaker 1: We're not in enlightened age, I hate to tell you.
- 38:37Speaker 1: We are clumsy.
- 38:39Speaker 6: How did we ever get out of the 21st century?
- 38:41Speaker 1: We are random and clumsy. That's what we are.
- 38:43Speaker 8: Yeah, Obi-Wan, we saw the prequels. They were not a
- 38:46Speaker 8: better time.
- 38:47Speaker 6: I know.
- 38:48Speaker 1: So much doesn't make sense.
- 38:51Speaker 8: The more civilized age my ass.
- 38:53Speaker 1: Bunch of idiots then, too.
- 38:57Speaker 8: Yippee and sand and stuff.
- 38:59Speaker 6: Screw you. Screw you, future.
- 39:01Speaker 3: Past.
- 39:02Speaker 1: Future past.
- 39:03Speaker 8: Future past.
- 39:05Speaker 6: Roundabout future and we we uh dave and i went
- 39:08Speaker 6: to a convention a while ago and there was a
- 39:10Speaker 6: lot of uh steampunk stuff i'm not seeing that here.
- 39:15Speaker 8: Not quite as much no they have better power sources
- 39:18Speaker 8: here now they're hardcore on steam.
- 39:20Speaker 7: They yeah they have to pay lithium crystals to keep
- 39:22Speaker 7: this stuff going they.
- 39:23Speaker 6: Don't need that what are your thoughts on the whole
- 39:26Speaker 6: steampunk thing that's going on now in pop culture, Brian?
- 39:30Speaker 1: I think it was like two or three years ago.
- 39:32Speaker 1: But anyway, I'm right on the pulse of things, Ben.
- 39:36Speaker 6: My Tandy can only take in so much before it.
- 39:40Speaker 1: Just craps up. My favorite comment, and I won't take
- 39:44Speaker 1: credit for it, but I was just like, look, it's like.
- 39:47Speaker 7: The goth kids found brown. And I was like, wow,
- 39:51Speaker 7: you are exactly right. I was like, it's the same
- 39:56Speaker 7: group of people, more or less. But they're like, what
- 39:59Speaker 7: if I glue some brass shit on my head over
- 40:01Speaker 7: here and get a lot of leather?
- 40:04Speaker 1: It's just a variation, because it's sort of the same
- 40:07Speaker 1: group of people.
- 40:08Speaker 8: You know what this vampire costume needs?
- 40:09Speaker 3: Goggles.
- 40:11Speaker 1: Goggles and... A gun that shoots steaks at them. That's
- 40:14Speaker 1: what I need. A steam-powered gun that shoots steaks at them.
- 40:17Speaker 6: So what you're telling me now is steampunk is passe,
- 40:19Speaker 6: and I'm a complete idiot for even bringing it up.
- 40:21Speaker 13: Is that it?
- 40:22Speaker 1: I wouldn't say complete idiot.
- 40:24Speaker 8: Stan, you were stuck at 89% forever.
- 40:26Speaker 6: Oh, my God. This must be how trendy teenage girls
- 40:31Speaker 6: feel when they're wearing something that, oh, my God, that
- 40:34Speaker 6: is so two months ago, and you feel like a
- 40:37Speaker 6: complete idiot.
- 40:38Speaker 1: You are so three years ago.
- 40:40Speaker 6: I am not just... I don't have... I'm not red
- 40:42Speaker 6: with embarrassment. I'm bronze with embarrassment over here.
- 40:45Speaker 3: Okay.
- 40:46Speaker 1: Well, at least you're getting it.
- 40:47Speaker 13: Yes.
- 40:48Speaker 1: At least you're grasping the essentials.
- 40:51Speaker 8: Ben finally feels like a teenage girl.
- 40:53Speaker 6: I'm finally.
- 40:53Speaker 8: We've been waiting for this day.
- 40:54Speaker 6: I'm blossoming.
- 40:55Speaker 7: I believe Paul always feels like a teenage girl. That's
- 40:59Speaker 7: a Tower of Technobabble joke. You guys should be listening
- 41:01Speaker 7: to both. You understand now, right?
- 41:03Speaker 8: You won't get it unless you listen to every episode.
- 41:05Speaker 1: Every episode.
- 41:06Speaker 6: So what is the big thing going on in pop
- 41:08Speaker 6: culture today? now that I won't latch onto until two
- 41:11Speaker 6: years from now.
- 41:12Speaker 8: Get ahead of the curve for once in your life.
- 41:15Speaker 1: That's the thing. Help me.
- 41:16Speaker 7: As you were saying that, I was trying to think
- 41:18Speaker 7: what stepped in and replaced that. I don't know if
- 41:20Speaker 7: there is any specific look now. It's just gotten more...
- 41:24Speaker 7: I think it's more professional. I've noticed in those three
- 41:28Speaker 7: years how many people... It is almost their job cosplay.
- 41:34Speaker 7: There are people that that is their thing.
- 41:36Speaker 6: And we.
- 41:37Speaker 7: have one that's a friend of the show and like
- 41:39Speaker 7: constantly she's uploading new pictures.
- 41:41Speaker 1: And I'm just like, how do you finance all this stuff?
- 41:44Speaker 7: Like, I just, I don't like, I can barely afford
- 41:46Speaker 7: to make this gray shirt that I'm wearing right now.
- 41:48Speaker 7: So it's like how this, like every other week there's
- 41:51Speaker 7: an entire new outfit with new special made accessories. And
- 41:55Speaker 7: like so much of it seems like it takes a
- 41:57Speaker 7: good amount of money to put together. And that's, I'm like,
- 42:00Speaker 7: are they getting like sponsors? Is it going to be
- 42:01Speaker 7: like NASCAR cosplay? They're going to have like a big,
- 42:04Speaker 7: patch on the side of their bell dress or something?
- 42:07Speaker 6: I don't know.
- 42:07Speaker 1: It's like, I don't know what it's going to do.
- 42:08Speaker 6: And wouldn't that break it? I would think.
- 42:10Speaker 7: Wouldn't that ruin the authenticity of your costume is that
- 42:13Speaker 7: you have to have a lube company on the side
- 42:16Speaker 7: of it?
- 42:17Speaker 6: Have you ever cosplayed as the kids say?
- 42:21Speaker 1: Not in the normal sense.
- 42:23Speaker 7: I did organize a movie-themed art show, and then I
- 42:27Speaker 7: encouraged everyone to come dressed as their favorite movie character.
- 42:30Speaker 7: That's probably the only time I've ever dressed up.
- 42:33Speaker 6: I was at that, and I recall a certain jacket
- 42:35Speaker 6: that you were wearing.
- 42:36Speaker 1: Yeah, it was in a full outfit. Thank you very much.
- 42:39Speaker 6: Well, I don't like to look below the waist, though.
- 42:41Speaker 1: Well, you should have because those pants were awesome.
- 42:43Speaker 6: So it was brown pants with the yellow stripes. Yeah,
- 42:47Speaker 6: he was Empire Strikes Back.
- 42:49Speaker 7: Yeah, I wasn't just Han Solo. I was specifically the Empire.
- 42:53Speaker 7: Because that's the better outfit.
- 42:55Speaker 6: I have a problem with the name of that on
- 42:56Speaker 6: the action figure cards. They always call it Bespin outfit,
- 42:59Speaker 6: but he was wearing that before he got to Bespin.
- 43:02Speaker 8: That's where he stopped wearing.
- 43:03Speaker 6: It, though.
- 43:03Speaker 1: Yeah, then they put him in the cool sleepy time
- 43:07Speaker 1: gear that he gets. He gets his night shirt.
- 43:09Speaker 8: Yeah, they took his jacket away. You can't freeze somebody
- 43:11Speaker 8: in a jacket.
- 43:12Speaker 6: That's crazy. That would completely deflect the... Carbonite that was
- 43:17Speaker 6: coming at him.
- 43:17Speaker 8: It was a really good jacket.
- 43:18Speaker 6: It wasn't just a windbreaker. It was a carbonite breaker.
- 43:21Speaker 1: It had fensilate, which also insulates you from carbon.
- 43:24Speaker 6: It was that frog gear. It was breathable, but it
- 43:27Speaker 6: would keep him safe.
- 43:29Speaker 1: He knew what he was doing when he put that
- 43:31Speaker 1: jacket on.
- 43:31Speaker 6: It's space. You've got to protect yourself, man.
- 43:34Speaker 8: Feels a little carbonite-y out there today.
- 43:37Speaker 1: A little nippy. I've got to put this on.
- 43:39Speaker 7: So that was my costume, and that was about it, really.
- 43:44Speaker 7: After that, I was like, yeah, this is kind of cool,
- 43:46Speaker 7: but I've got stuff to do at all these events,
- 43:47Speaker 7: so I don't.
- 43:48Speaker 1: Have time to wear my blaster and be knocking stuff over.
- 43:51Speaker 6: Did you make it yourself, or did you buy it? No, God, no.
- 43:55Speaker 1: Again, that's the other thing.
- 43:56Speaker 7: I'm like, I don't have the commitment or the finances
- 43:59Speaker 7: or the know-how to put together all those elaborate costumes
- 44:02Speaker 7: they do. I was like, do they make a Bespin Hanse?
- 44:04Speaker 1: Yeah, that one. I want that one.
- 44:06Speaker 6: You bought it off of... Off the rack? That's amazing. Yeah.
- 44:11Speaker 7: I mean, there's a lot of dorks out there that
- 44:12Speaker 7: want to dress up like Han Solo. I am just
- 44:14Speaker 7: one of many.
- 44:15Speaker 6: Dorks of all shapes and sizes.
- 44:16Speaker 1: That's true.
- 44:17Speaker 3: Wow.
- 44:18Speaker 6: Yeah, was it pricey, would you say?
- 44:20Speaker 1: Yes.
- 44:21Speaker 7: Not as pricey as many other things I've seen out there. But,
- 44:24Speaker 7: you know, for me, who is poor, it was pretty pricey, actually.
- 44:30Speaker 8: Some have more apparatus than others.
- 44:32Speaker 3: I suppose.
- 44:33Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah.
- 44:34Speaker 6: I can eat or I can get a Bespin jacket. Jeez.
- 44:37Speaker 1: I was hungry, but damn, that jacket looked good.
- 44:39Speaker 8: And it's fitting better all the time.
- 44:43Speaker 7: Luckily, I bought one size down, because I'm not going
- 44:45Speaker 7: to eat ever again.
- 44:48Speaker 1: Spent all my money on this vintage blaster.
- 44:49Speaker 6: Pew, pew.
- 44:53Speaker 7: Actually, it makes a weird... It's broken. Like, it looks awesome,
- 44:56Speaker 7: but it makes like a whirring noise. Like, whatever is
- 44:59Speaker 7: supposed to make the right noise, it just kind of goes.
- 45:01Speaker 6: Oh, is that the toy from 1970? Yeah. Okay, I've
- 45:04Speaker 6: got it too in... I actually took it apart once
- 45:06Speaker 6: to check it out. And there's this little white spinning
- 45:10Speaker 6: wheel with these notches in it. And when you press
- 45:15Speaker 6: the button, it starts spinning. And when you pull the trigger,
- 45:18Speaker 6: the trigger actually makes this little piece of plastic come
- 45:21Speaker 6: down and hit into the cogs. And it makes this sound.
- 45:25Speaker 8: It's not electronic.
- 45:26Speaker 6: Which is laser.
- 45:27Speaker 8: It's practical effects.
- 45:28Speaker 6: It's almost like steampunk.
- 45:29Speaker 1: It's the real world.
- 45:31Speaker 8: That's probably because you didn't have enough steam in your.
- 45:32Speaker 12: It's.
- 45:33Speaker 6: Mechanical and cogs and whatnot.
- 45:34Speaker 3: It's true.
- 45:36Speaker 6: Nice. I just love how I'm years late to the
- 45:39Speaker 6: whole steampunk party. That's great. Like, were there ever steampunk Borg, like,
- 45:43Speaker 6: cosplay steampunk, you know, walking around?
- 45:45Speaker 1: Isn't that sort of, like, cancels itself out?
- 45:47Speaker 8: I mean, they're redundant. They're more hydraulic than steam, but,
- 45:49Speaker 8: you know, same deal.
- 45:51Speaker 6: Just picture this big smoke stack on the top of
- 45:53Speaker 6: the board.
- 45:54Speaker 7: There's got to be, because I've seen, and I know
- 45:56Speaker 7: I've seen a picture of a steampunk Boba Fett. So
- 45:59Speaker 7: there has to be a steampunk Borg.
- 46:01Speaker 6: Here comes the Borg Queen.
- 46:02Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 46:04Speaker 6: Oh, that's great.
- 46:05Speaker 1: Quick, throw more coal into the back of her.
- 46:10Speaker 6: You know, also walking through the little area where you
- 46:13Speaker 6: see all the models and stuff, I am continually amazed
- 46:17Speaker 6: at the amount of TNA in sci-fi modeling.
- 46:21Speaker 1: And this is a subdued.
- 46:23Speaker 7: They specifically have a ruling that it can't be overtly.
- 46:28Speaker 7: get over the top and explicit.
- 46:31Speaker 8: On the slave layer scale, is it?
- 46:33Speaker 1: I've seen a few that are borderline. I don't know
- 46:37Speaker 1: if I haven't been over there. They used to have
- 46:39Speaker 1: a separate little section that was a closed off room
- 46:41Speaker 1: that then you could do whatever you wanted.
- 46:43Speaker 6: Really?
- 46:44Speaker 1: And I've seen one or two that kind of went there.
- 46:46Speaker 1: because i got.
- 46:47Speaker 8: Here late so we just basically made a beeline here
- 46:49Speaker 8: so i haven't seen this yet.
- 46:50Speaker 6: Oh wait till you see well there's there's this one
- 46:52Speaker 6: table it's just like i swear it's genie from i
- 46:56Speaker 6: dream of genie flashing her gazongies and it's got little
- 47:00Speaker 6: bitty stickers over the nipple part see if they do
- 47:03Speaker 6: that they can get away with it okay really yeah
- 47:06Speaker 6: but and i'm just looking at this and in over
- 47:08Speaker 6: and over you're just seeing you know okay dave we
- 47:11Speaker 6: were just talking about how boob armor is not really practical.
- 47:15Speaker 6: Did you hear this?
- 47:16Speaker 1: Actually, I saw that post and the next day listened
- 47:18Speaker 1: to your episode about it.
- 47:19Speaker 6: Yeah, because, you know, boobs are sort of, they sort
- 47:22Speaker 6: of focus the spear point into the wrong area. Yeah,
- 47:26Speaker 6: it doesn't help you really.
- 47:26Speaker 8: Ben is pointing at his sternum after miming boobs.
- 47:30Speaker 1: The motion of a weapon going towards the boobular area.
- 47:35Speaker 8: You have a 50-50 chance of either deflecting them away
- 47:37Speaker 8: or deflecting them into the sternum.
- 47:38Speaker 1: Or going straight into your heart. Not a good idea.
- 47:41Speaker 8: Not where you want a sword.
- 47:42Speaker 6: No, not really. So over there, there are all these
- 47:45Speaker 6: little models of very busty, ass-endowed warrior women, you know,
- 47:51Speaker 6: with the spears and the swords and nothing else. And
- 47:54Speaker 6: I'm like, you never see any, like, well-endowed, overly muscular
- 48:01Speaker 6: male warrior things with any... With a little sticker covering
- 48:06Speaker 6: up their little area.
- 48:07Speaker 1: There's a special room for that, probably.
- 48:09Speaker 7: We just haven't been there, but somewhere I bet there's
- 48:12Speaker 7: a convention just for that. And by the way, speaking
- 48:16Speaker 7: of being late to the game, you're just noticing that
- 48:19Speaker 7: Sci-Fi and Fantasy likes TNA?
- 48:23Speaker 6: I didn't have... I was shocked. Shocked, I tell you.
- 48:25Speaker 6: I didn't have cable growing up. I didn't have cable
- 48:28Speaker 6: growing up. Just now.
- 48:30Speaker 8: It is a wonderful world out there that I am
- 48:32Speaker 8: just now noticing.
- 48:33Speaker 6: Well, that's just it. It's like whenever you come to
- 48:35Speaker 6: one of these things, they sort of take everything and
- 48:37Speaker 6: focus it into one area. And it's like just extreme.
- 48:41Speaker 6: Like I've seen so many Millennium Falcons today. I've seen
- 48:44Speaker 6: more Millennium Falcons today than I've ever seen in my life.
- 48:47Speaker 6: I've seen more fake sci-fi boobies today than I've ever
- 48:50Speaker 6: seen in my entire life. Don't lie. Outside of my basement,
- 48:56Speaker 6: I've seen more fake sci-fi boobies.
- 49:01Speaker 1: This is, oh my gosh, it's great. That was Belle Dee.
- 49:04Speaker 1: She's like two tables down.
- 49:06Speaker 6: I was just thinking that.
- 49:06Speaker 9: I was like, it kind of looks like a Belle Dee.
- 49:08Speaker 1: It's Belle Dee.
- 49:09Speaker 9: Hi.
- 49:10Speaker 1: Hi, welcome to Movie Meltdown.
- 49:11Speaker 6: What's your name?
- 49:11Speaker 9: My name's Carrie.
- 49:12Speaker 6: Carrie, what brings you down to Wonderfest?
- 49:14Speaker 9: Friends.
- 49:15Speaker 6: Friends?
- 49:16Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 49:17Speaker 1: And to see this amazing Belle D shirt.
- 49:18Speaker 8: Yes.
- 49:19Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 49:20Speaker 9: I actually just purchased a crew shirt that she did.
- 49:23Speaker 1: Yeah, she's awesome. It took a couple years.
- 49:25Speaker 6: Can you paint a picture for the people listening of
- 49:27Speaker 6: what you're looking at?
- 49:30Speaker 9: It's kind of like a Betty Boop, but a little
- 49:35Speaker 9: more childlike in nature and a very vibrant red vest
- 49:41Speaker 9: jacket with the movie Meltdown logo. It's pretty awesome.
- 49:46Speaker 6: Have you ever heard of movie Meltdown?
- 49:48Speaker 9: I have not. No, I have not.
- 49:50Speaker 5: I'm a new fan, I guess.
- 49:52Speaker 1: This is the episode to start with.
- 49:55Speaker 6: Wait a minute.
- 49:56Speaker 1: With this set up, I don't know. We'll go back
- 49:59Speaker 1: and pick you out a good episode.
- 50:00Speaker 6: Hold on. We're picking gold here.
- 50:03Speaker 1: What? We are movie-themed. Many group conversations, some of which
- 50:10Speaker 1: may lead nowhere.
- 50:11Speaker 6: Can I ask something real quick? Courtney, you're wearing a... Carrie,
- 50:16Speaker 6: I'm sorry. Oh, it's Countess Carrie. I thought it said
- 50:19Speaker 6: Courtney Carrie. You're wearing a Ghostbusters shirt.
- 50:22Speaker 3: Yes.
- 50:23Speaker 6: And are you wearing Ecto-1 earrings?
- 50:26Speaker 9: Actually, no, but they're Hearst earrings, actually.
- 50:28Speaker 6: Nice.
- 50:29Speaker 9: Kind of the interest that I was going for there,
- 50:31Speaker 9: so nice catch.
- 50:34Speaker 6: See, girls, I notice these things.
- 50:37Speaker 1: That's why you're married.
- 50:38Speaker 6: I'm the.
- 50:40Speaker 1: I don't notice anything.
- 50:41Speaker 6: I'm the enlightened podcaster.
- 50:44Speaker 8: He's sensitive.
- 50:46Speaker 6: What has been your favorite thing that you've seen so far?
- 50:50Speaker 9: Actually, there's a dragon model over on the other side
- 50:53Speaker 9: that's pretty wicked.
- 50:54Speaker 1: Just like vinyl kit?
- 50:55Speaker 9: It's about 18 inches tall, and it looks like a pet.
- 50:58Speaker 9: It looks like something you would have sitting on your
- 50:59Speaker 9: living room floor, and your child would play with it.
- 51:01Speaker 1: They put together some good stuff, I have to give
- 51:03Speaker 1: them credit.
- 51:03Speaker 6: Yeah, it's pretty awesome. Are you thinking of purchasing Cedric?
- 51:07Speaker 9: If I could paint, I surely would.
- 51:08Speaker 6: Oh, it's a kit.
- 51:11Speaker 9: Yeah, it's a model kit. Yeah, it's pretty neat.
- 51:14Speaker 7: Yeah, that's sort of the beauty of this show also
- 51:16Speaker 7: is like they've got the display models, but a lot
- 51:18Speaker 7: of them you can go get the kit in the
- 51:20Speaker 7: other room and like you can do your version of
- 51:22Speaker 7: it at home.
- 51:23Speaker 1: Yeah, if you have the skill.
- 51:24Speaker 9: If you have the skill to paint, definitely.
- 51:26Speaker 6: I don't.
- 51:27Speaker 1: That's why I don't do any of that.
- 51:28Speaker 8: Or you can be utterly disappointed when you get home
- 51:30Speaker 8: and can't make it work right.
- 51:32Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 51:32Speaker 6: Where's the table where you purchase talent?
- 51:35Speaker 8: I learned that.
- 51:36Speaker 9: When the models are $ 300, the last thing you want
- 51:38Speaker 9: to do is take it home and give it a go.
- 51:40Speaker 6: Where's his back leg?
- 51:41Speaker 7: I learned my lesson with my Star Wars van snap-together model.
- 51:46Speaker 7: When I couldn't snap it together and get it to
- 51:48Speaker 7: work right, I was just like, yeah, this is probably
- 51:50Speaker 7: not my area.
- 51:52Speaker 8: This frame is bent.
- 51:53Speaker 9: You were into the layer of skin, you know, when
- 51:55Speaker 9: I was gluing it together.
- 51:57Speaker 1: I have it, but it still has glue on it
- 51:58Speaker 1: to this day.
- 51:59Speaker 6: Hey, Countess, let me ask you one more thing. Sorry,
- 52:03Speaker 6: I'm taking over here.
- 52:05Speaker 1: Feel free.
- 52:05Speaker 8: Just stand back. He does this.
- 52:07Speaker 6: Are you, have you seen anything today that you would
- 52:11Speaker 6: find offensive, that you maybe think, ooh, that's too far?
- 52:14Speaker 5: Don't touch that.
- 52:20Speaker 9: Actually, I haven't seen it today, but I haven't been
- 52:21Speaker 9: in the model room. But they had a bust last
- 52:25Speaker 9: year of basically a severed head.
- 52:27Speaker 6: Nice.
- 52:28Speaker 9: And it was, it was CSI. detail it was extremely.
- 52:34Speaker 1: I remember that because it was human it.
- 52:37Speaker 9: Was very human like it looked like if you saw
- 52:40Speaker 9: it in a bag in an alley you would think
- 52:42Speaker 9: that it was a human head it was pretty.
- 52:44Speaker 6: Incredible and how much was that thing going it wasn't.
- 52:48Speaker 9: For sale it was actually in the contest i'm sure if.
- 52:50Speaker 7: You add how much would you pay if you threw
- 52:52Speaker 7: enough money at him he would probably.
- 52:53Speaker 9: Part with it and i would say it would probably
- 52:56Speaker 9: go in the in a thousand or up Probably.
- 52:59Speaker 1: I mean, it was like.
- 53:01Speaker 6: Arm and a leg, right?
- 53:02Speaker 1: Well, no, it was like movie-grade quality. It was movie-grade, yes.
- 53:05Speaker 1: Probably that is their job on the side.
- 53:07Speaker 8: Are we sure it wasn't just a human head lemonade?
- 53:09Speaker 1: Or it could have been a human head.
- 53:11Speaker 9: Dipped in something and set up on a pedestal, yeah.
- 53:13Speaker 1: I tried to enter one of those one time, and
- 53:15Speaker 1: they wouldn't let me.
- 53:16Speaker 6: Isn't it funny how movie-grade... the movie grade standard changes
- 53:20Speaker 6: throughout the years. Like, say you're Vincent Price, House on
- 53:24Speaker 6: the Hill. It's just a skeleton held together by wires.
- 53:27Speaker 1: Look at this realistic blood.
- 53:29Speaker 6: And that was technically movie grade, quote unquote.
- 53:32Speaker 8: That's true.
- 53:34Speaker 9: Yeah, when you think about all the props they used
- 53:37Speaker 9: in Star Wars and things like that today, and you're like, wow,
- 53:41Speaker 9: we go to great lengths.
- 53:42Speaker 6: Dave actually has the camera light thing handle thing that
- 53:48Speaker 6: they use as the lightsaber.
- 53:49Speaker 8: Yeah, it's an external flash from, I think it's from
- 53:53Speaker 8: the 60s.
- 53:53Speaker 6: I found it at a yard sale. How did you
- 53:54Speaker 6: find it?
- 53:55Speaker 8: I found it at a yard sale for five bucks
- 53:56Speaker 8: and I grabbed it and paid for it before I
- 53:57Speaker 8: told them what it was.
- 53:59Speaker 1: And then you told them as you were getting ready
- 54:01Speaker 1: to run out of the yard.
- 54:02Speaker 6: By the way, it's a lightsaber. Bye! That's great.
- 54:06Speaker 1: I'm going to go put this on eBay for $ 4, 000.
- 54:07Speaker 2: Bye!
- 54:07Speaker 8: Boy, that's prying out of my cold dead hand is.
- 54:10Speaker 3: What it's doing. Nice.
- 54:13Speaker 5: That's cool.
- 54:14Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 54:15Speaker 6: Well, we don't want to take up any more of
- 54:16Speaker 6: your time here.
- 54:17Speaker 8: We've already ambushed you enough.
- 54:18Speaker 6: Well, how often do you get to have a countess
- 54:21Speaker 6: on your podcast?
- 54:23Speaker 9: It's true.
- 54:25Speaker 1: We appreciate you.
- 54:26Speaker 6: Tell her where to find this so she can hear
- 54:29Speaker 6: herself on the internet.
- 54:29Speaker 1: MovieMeltdown.com, but assuming you don't remember, you can take one
- 54:32Speaker 1: of these flyers.
- 54:33Speaker 9: Oh, isn't this nice?
- 54:35Speaker 1: It's original artwork.
- 54:37Speaker 7: We had that done. I keep making people do artwork
- 54:40Speaker 7: for us.
- 54:40Speaker 1: I'm not sure why. I'm not sure if anybody else cares.
- 54:43Speaker 1: But we, Bill D, this is Eric Chu. I keep
- 54:45Speaker 1: making people do artwork.
- 54:47Speaker 6: And I can only draw boobs. That's why you never
- 54:49Speaker 6: ask me.
- 54:49Speaker 1: Yeah, there is a reason I haven't asked you.
- 54:51Speaker 9: Yeah, you just bring the personality, right?
- 54:54Speaker 1: That's what we call it, personality.
- 54:56Speaker 6: Oh, we should give her one of our cards. This
- 54:59Speaker 6: is our podcast.
- 55:00Speaker 3: That's cute.
- 55:02Speaker 1: Yeah, I would say sister show, but I don't know. See,
- 55:06Speaker 1: thanks for work.
- 55:07Speaker 6: See, thanks for work.
- 55:08Speaker 5: Yay!
- 55:10Speaker 1: This isn't the Christmas special.
- 55:12Speaker 9: Short circuit comes alive.
- 55:15Speaker 7: He's my favorite guy on the show, by the way.
- 55:17Speaker 1: I mean, there's these other guys, but he's my favorite.
- 55:19Speaker 1: Towerbot's the best guy. I'm telling you.
- 55:21Speaker 8: He doesn't leave the tower because of the 50-foot extension
- 55:24Speaker 8: cord thing.
- 55:24Speaker 1: Well, neither does Ben.
- 55:26Speaker 2: Thanks, guys.
- 55:26Speaker 1: Have fun.
- 55:29Speaker 6: Thank you.
- 55:31Speaker 8: Ben's actually running on reserves right now.
- 55:34Speaker 5: Oh, yeah.
- 55:34Speaker 1: His battery winds down eventually. And then he gets sad.
- 55:37Speaker 1: There are only two modes with Ben. I've seen the
- 55:40Speaker 1: sad Ben. It's just like a space bomber.
- 55:42Speaker 6: It's either up or down.
- 55:43Speaker 1: That's right.
- 55:44Speaker 7: And you better get your direction right because you don't
- 55:46Speaker 7: want to be there when it's coming down.
- 55:47Speaker 8: Space bombers are like Ben's moods.
- 55:49Speaker 6: Well, let me ask you guys this. Since we're sitting
- 55:51Speaker 6: here with all the spaceship models and everything, are there
- 55:54Speaker 6: any spaceships in movies that you looked at and you're like,
- 55:57Speaker 6: that's just dumb. I don't like that.
- 56:00Speaker 7: I have to say, well, that initial time I saw
- 56:04Speaker 7: the Borg ship, I went, what the hell kind of
- 56:06Speaker 7: ship is that? I mean, as time's gone on, I've
- 56:09Speaker 7: realized it doesn't matter. It can be a big cube
- 56:11Speaker 7: flying through space. But initially, I was just like.
- 56:13Speaker 8: What?
- 56:14Speaker 6: That's not a ship.
- 56:15Speaker 1: You stupid steampunk bastards.
- 56:18Speaker 7: So, yeah, I was just like... That one struck me
- 56:23Speaker 7: as odd initially, I'll have to say. As time's gone on,
- 56:26Speaker 7: I think the Borg are pretty awesome, but that ship
- 56:27Speaker 7: still seems kind of like an odd.
- 56:29Speaker 1: Way to go.
- 56:29Speaker 8: See, it's so unnatural.
- 56:32Speaker 1: It is. We're not used to it with our space
- 56:34Speaker 1: shuttles and, you know... Our Mercury. That's not how we
- 56:38Speaker 1: build things at all.
- 56:39Speaker 8: Our Geminis.
- 56:39Speaker 1: Our Geminis.
- 56:40Speaker 6: And our Apollo.
- 56:42Speaker 8: Oh, wait, we're out.
- 56:42Speaker 1: We don't make ships anymore.
- 56:43Speaker 8: Our nothing.
- 56:44Speaker 1: Anyway.
- 56:46Speaker 8: Our theoretical ships that we don't have.
- 56:47Speaker 1: Our pretend ships.
- 56:48Speaker 6: You know, it's funny. When I was a kid, for
- 56:51Speaker 6: Christmas or something, I got like a weird red-colored space
- 56:56Speaker 6: shuttle toy thing. Probably something you get at like a
- 56:59Speaker 6: dollar store now. I mean, it was really, really cheap.
- 57:01Speaker 6: It was just like a stocking stuffer thing. And I
- 57:03Speaker 6: was telling a kid on my street, That I had
- 57:06Speaker 6: got a spaceship that looked like the thing that Buck
- 57:09Speaker 6: Rogers was flying. I'm talking about the Gil Gerard 1980s
- 57:13Speaker 6: Buck Rogers. So he was all excited thinking I had
- 57:15Speaker 6: one of the little star fighters. And when he saw it,
- 57:19Speaker 6: he basically said the seven-year-old equivalent of what? hell is
- 57:23Speaker 6: this and i was trying to explain it's the ship
- 57:26Speaker 6: that buck rogers was flying in before he got sent
- 57:28Speaker 6: to the future you know and you know ranger seven
- 57:31Speaker 6: the last space probe and he was not buying it.
- 57:33Speaker 7: And if it takes that much explanation you're not gonna
- 57:36Speaker 7: impress a kid you're not selling it a kid's gonna
- 57:38Speaker 7: be like dumb moving on.
- 57:40Speaker 6: Oh my god but okay i've a spaceship i found
- 57:46Speaker 6: i didn't like and i apologize i was not excited
- 57:51Speaker 6: about the a-wing fighter because to me it's... You're wrong. Well, yeah,
- 57:56Speaker 6: but to me it seemed to be.
- 57:57Speaker 1: I'll be cruising around in my sporty A-Wing and.
- 58:00Speaker 6: You'll be, you know.
- 58:00Speaker 8: Puttering around in the B-Wing.
- 58:02Speaker 1: Clunking along in your Edsel.
- 58:04Speaker 6: And it's because I think between the time period between
- 58:08Speaker 6: Star Wars and Return of the Jedi came out, you
- 58:11Speaker 6: may recall when I saw the Millennium Falcon, I was like,
- 58:13Speaker 6: why is the control pod on the side? That doesn't
- 58:17Speaker 6: make sense. By the time Return of the Jedi came around,
- 58:20Speaker 6: I was like, it's stupid to have the cockpit right
- 58:23Speaker 6: in dead center. Why don't they do something more imaginative?
- 58:26Speaker 6: And why is it all smooth and stuff, you know?
- 58:28Speaker 6: It's like I'd been ruined, I guess. I don't know.
- 58:31Speaker 8: Staying in this realm. The B-Wing fighter never made sense
- 58:34Speaker 8: to me.
- 58:35Speaker 1: Yeah, I'll give you that one. I always thought that
- 58:37Speaker 1: was weird.
- 58:37Speaker 8: You talk about the Falcon having an off-center control. I mean,
- 58:41Speaker 8: that whole ship swung around. How did it land?
- 58:46Speaker 6: It's like the selling point for the toy was whatever
- 58:49Speaker 6: position you put it in, the cockpit will always be
- 58:51Speaker 6: right side up. But that only works in gravity scenarios
- 58:57Speaker 6: as you're playing with it. But in space, yeah, I know.
- 59:00Speaker 7: While we're in that universe, how about the podcars? What
- 59:04Speaker 7: if you don't like your stupid guy that you're stuck with?
- 59:06Speaker 8: And I'm like, I'm stuck with Jimmy.
- 59:10Speaker 6: Shut up, Jim. You mean the twin pod cloud?
- 59:14Speaker 7: Yeah, the whole cloud cars just look kind of girly
- 59:18Speaker 7: to me.
- 59:18Speaker 8: As a youngster.
- 59:19Speaker 1: Why do you need two pilots? That's what I'm saying.
- 59:21Speaker 1: I'm like, it doesn't make sense.
- 59:22Speaker 7: Either you need one and make it just a smaller ship,
- 59:25Speaker 7: or if you needed to carry more people, wouldn't you
- 59:27Speaker 7: just make it a bigger ship that you could, like,
- 59:29Speaker 7: load things into? But it's just, it's like a motorcycle
- 59:32Speaker 7: with a sidecar.
- 59:33Speaker 6: Did you have that toy?
- 59:35Speaker 7: No, because I thought it was, it looked like a
- 59:37Speaker 7: girly toy to me. I was just like, what is
- 59:39Speaker 7: this cloud planet?
- 59:40Speaker 8: It was a blind orange.
- 59:41Speaker 3: What?
- 59:41Speaker 7: Girly twin, yeah, I wanted, you know, I wanted Slave 1,
- 59:45Speaker 7: damn it. That was my ship. And I had that,
- 59:48Speaker 7: and it was awesome.
- 59:49Speaker 1: And it's weird.
- 59:50Speaker 7: It doesn't make any sense why it's like that. It
- 59:52Speaker 7: gets in this way and flies this way, and it
- 59:54Speaker 7: pops up to the top.
- 59:55Speaker 1: And I'm just like, I don't care. It's awesome.
- 59:57Speaker 6: Yeah, I love that. And I thought that the A-Wing
- 59:59Speaker 6: was too much like a conventional aircraft, I guess. And, like,
- 1:00:03Speaker 6: Slave I was weird. I still don't know which way
- 1:00:07Speaker 6: is up, technically.
- 1:00:08Speaker 8: Well, it's a fire spray class vehicle, by the way.
- 1:00:11Speaker 6: Please explain. Well, it shoots a lot, anyway. It shoots
- 1:00:15Speaker 6: a lot.
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: It shoots a lot.
- 1:00:16Speaker 8: It sprays fire. It's right there in the name.
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: He is Boba Fett, damn it. That's what he does.
- 1:00:23Speaker 8: Fire is sprayed by it.
- 1:00:26Speaker 6: Well, anyway, I was down here earlier with my good
- 1:00:30Speaker 6: lady wife, Eddie, and we were walking through the room
- 1:00:32Speaker 6: over there, and we were kind of surprised at stuff
- 1:00:34Speaker 6: we didn't see. We didn't see anything for Game of Thrones,
- 1:00:39Speaker 6: which is kind of all the rage right now, and
- 1:00:41Speaker 6: We only found, we found nothing for Buffy the Vampire Slayer,
- 1:00:46Speaker 6: which is kind of her favorite thing, except for a
- 1:00:49Speaker 6: library play set for $ 125. And no action figures included,
- 1:00:54Speaker 6: by the way, on that.
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: Well, of course.
- 1:00:55Speaker 6: And so it's, I guess this is tiered more toward,
- 1:01:00Speaker 6: this convention is more towards kind of a.
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: It's a little more old school.
- 1:01:04Speaker 6: Like a spaceship-y kind of.
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: Well, it's like classic sci-fi and horror. That's usually more
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: of what they end.
- 1:01:10Speaker 7: Up focusing on is just stuff that's really old school.
- 1:01:14Speaker 7: And then it just sort of spills over because we're
- 1:01:16Speaker 7: geeks and we like a lot of different stuff.
- 1:01:18Speaker 6: So there isn't a lot of sword and sorcery stuff.
- 1:01:20Speaker 6: This is mainly technological sci-fi, right? There's some of that.
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: In the modeling.
- 1:01:24Speaker 7: If you go there, you'll see some Konins and you'll
- 1:01:26Speaker 7: see a lot of that kind of stuff that gets
- 1:01:28Speaker 7: worked in. It definitely has a fantasy angle to it.
- 1:01:32Speaker 7: But I think it just sort of goes in waves.
- 1:01:33Speaker 7: Like some years I think it's more. It is weird,
- 1:01:35Speaker 7: the Game of Thrones. Because like Buffy just seems like
- 1:01:37Speaker 7: it's on a downward wave now. Because it's been so
- 1:01:39Speaker 7: long in the series that every once in a while
- 1:01:42Speaker 7: you'll see one of them turn up at a convention.
- 1:01:44Speaker 7: But other than that, it's not a whole lot of focus.
- 1:01:46Speaker 8: On that anymore.
- 1:01:46Speaker 6: Because I've seen a ton of Voyage to the Bottom
- 1:01:49Speaker 6: of the Sea stuff.
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: See, that's old school.
- 1:01:51Speaker 6: Which just surprises me.
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: That's old school.
- 1:01:53Speaker 6: And I guess it's because they had a cool ship.
- 1:01:55Speaker 6: Buffy didn't. It's true.
- 1:01:57Speaker 8: There's no Buffy mobile.
- 1:02:00Speaker 6: Why wasn't there a Buffy mobile?
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: The Scooby gang should have had a mystery machine, really. Truthfully.
- 1:02:05Speaker 6: Why was there no Malibu Dream Castle?
- 1:02:08Speaker 8: Well, everything in Sunnydale was so close together, everybody just
- 1:02:10Speaker 8: ran to where the bomb was.
- 1:02:11Speaker 7: They did only have one street. That became the joke
- 1:02:15Speaker 7: of the series. So we're going to go out on
- 1:02:17Speaker 7: the street and shoot this scene.
- 1:02:20Speaker 8: Do it from the other direction. It looks like a
- 1:02:22Speaker 8: different street.
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: It's a totally different street.
- 1:02:24Speaker 3: Oh, God.
- 1:02:25Speaker 6: Oh, man. You know, okay, when I was a kid,
- 1:02:28Speaker 6: I also, again, going back to spaceship designs, that didn't
- 1:02:32Speaker 6: make sense. I never really understood the whole alligator on
- 1:02:35Speaker 6: the skis configuration for the Battlestar Galactica, for a Battlestar,
- 1:02:40Speaker 6: you know, because I never could figure out where the
- 1:02:44Speaker 6: launch tubes were. I always thought maybe they came out
- 1:02:48Speaker 6: of the front.
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: I think that's personal, Ben. I don't know if you're
- 1:02:51Speaker 1: supposed to be asking these kinds of questions.
- 1:02:52Speaker 6: But I don't think that's where the launch tubes were.
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: You stay out of my launch tubes, okay?
- 1:02:58Speaker 6: So now on the reimagining, this is something I may
- 1:03:00Speaker 6: want to ask Mr.
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: Chew.
- 1:03:03Speaker 6: Where are the launch tubes? Because I think maybe they
- 1:03:05Speaker 6: come out of the side of the pod.
- 1:03:06Speaker 8: Yeah, they come out of the side of the pod.
- 1:03:08Speaker 6: But shouldn't they go forward? Forward, not sideways? Like on
- 1:03:16Speaker 6: an aircraft carrier, they launch them off the front. They
- 1:03:18Speaker 6: don't go sideways.
- 1:03:20Speaker 8: No, but the Battlestar comes off and shoots off the side,
- 1:03:22Speaker 8: so it can throw more fire a longer.
- 1:03:25Speaker 6: Oh, like a broadside. Yeah, a broadside.
- 1:03:27Speaker 1: I see.
- 1:03:28Speaker 8: See, and you want to shoot the... vipers out, but
- 1:03:31Speaker 8: if you're in a fight, you want to be able
- 1:03:33Speaker 8: to get them back pretty quickly. That's why the pods
- 1:03:35Speaker 8: are so you can land multiple fighters at the same time.
- 1:03:37Speaker 6: We've got to get Dave and Eric two together. I
- 1:03:40Speaker 6: think they're on the same wavelength here.
- 1:03:44Speaker 8: I just love in the reimagining that the, I guess
- 1:03:48Speaker 8: it would be the starboard pod was still a gift
- 1:03:52Speaker 8: shop throughout the entire series. It was a museum slash
- 1:03:56Speaker 8: gift shop.
- 1:03:56Speaker 6: Nice.
- 1:03:56Speaker 8: That was a nice touch, I always thought.
- 1:04:00Speaker 6: How do you guys feel about sound in space when
- 1:04:03Speaker 6: you see it in movies?
- 1:04:04Speaker 1: No one can hear you scream.
- 1:04:07Speaker 6: But they can hear a TIE fighter go by.
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: That's because it sounds cool.
- 1:04:12Speaker 6: It's not screaming.
- 1:04:15Speaker 8: It's howling.
- 1:04:17Speaker 1: That's the science behind it. Cool is more important.
- 1:04:21Speaker 6: Cool trumps science. Absolutely.
- 1:04:25Speaker 8: If they switched to the outer space and there was
- 1:04:27Speaker 8: no sound, people would be yelling, Sound! Where's the sound?
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: Something's messed up!
- 1:04:31Speaker 6: I want my money back!
- 1:04:33Speaker 7: Go up to the popcorn guy and tell him this
- 1:04:35Speaker 7: isn't making any noise.
- 1:04:36Speaker 6: That's why they had to go to classical music in 2001,
- 1:04:40Speaker 6: because people would be like, where's the sound?
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: This is broken.
- 1:04:44Speaker 7: So yeah, I guess we've rambled on enough for this episode.
- 1:04:48Speaker 8: We've had our ramble quotient.
- 1:04:49Speaker 6: I have no idea what you're going to call this one.
- 1:04:52Speaker 6: Boobs in Space or something? I don't know. What are
- 1:04:53Speaker 6: you going to name this one?
- 1:04:54Speaker 8: Ben feels like a teenage girl.
- 1:04:57Speaker 6: Steampunk is back, bitch.
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: Ben is so passe.
- 1:05:05Speaker 6: Ben's Tandy only goes up to 2009.
- 1:05:09Speaker 8: Reluctantly.
- 1:05:11Speaker 7: So, not that we didn't already play it, but tell
- 1:05:13Speaker 7: people where to find you guys on the interwebs.
- 1:05:16Speaker 6: Well, let me look at my.

- 1:05:50Speaker 1: And he's pretty good at it, I have to say.
- 1:05:52Speaker 1: Once again, he's my favorite guy.
- 1:05:53Speaker 6: And if you want to find this podcast that you're

- 1:06:02Speaker 6: this if you don't know to go there yet. I
- 1:06:04Speaker 6: would hope by now they figure it out. Oh, chicken
- 1:06:05Speaker 6: and the egg, man, chicken and the egg.
- 1:06:07Speaker 3: I know.
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: One of those crazy time loops, speaking of sci-fi.
- 1:06:10Speaker 6: Well, let's take a break. I'm going to go and.
- 1:06:13Speaker 1: We haven't even finished this one yet.
- 1:06:14Speaker 6: I'm going to go get in my Emperor's Royal Guard costume.
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: You're still rambling on. What are you talking about?
- 1:06:20Speaker 8: Bibs on the shock stick.
- 1:06:23Speaker 6: That's code. That's totally code. What?
- 1:06:27Speaker 8: That's the title of this episode.
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: I'm leaving you two alone now. You seem like you
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: need to get a room in this hotel.
- 1:06:33Speaker 8: Oh, man, there's so many rooms right above our heads.
- 1:06:37Speaker 7: All right, so I think if you guys like the
- 1:06:41Speaker 7: crossover episodes here, I mean, we've toyed with it a
- 1:06:44Speaker 7: little before, but this is a pretty good example of
- 1:06:47Speaker 7: what we were like when we worked together.
- 1:06:49Speaker 1: I'm sorry. But if you actually like it, email us,
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: get a hold of us on Facebook, and let us
- 1:06:55Speaker 1: know you like this idea, and maybe we'll plan some
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: of those future crossover episodes that we've been toying with
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: for quite a while now. And send us lots of money,
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: I suppose. Ben likes that idea, so.
- 1:07:08Speaker 6: Hey, it ain't cheap to rent a van to the
- 1:07:10Speaker 6: Creation Museum.
- 1:07:11Speaker 1: That's true.
- 1:07:11Speaker 8: What makes us talk?
- 1:07:12Speaker 2: Money.
- 1:07:13Speaker 8: What makes us shut up?
- 1:07:14Speaker 3: Money.
- 1:07:14Speaker 1: More money.
- 1:07:15Speaker 8: So, six in one, half dozen in the other.
- 1:07:18Speaker 6: All right.
- 1:07:19Speaker 1: Otherwise, that about does it. We will return next week.
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: Same geek time, same geek feed. Thanks for listening.
- 1:07:23Speaker 15: And what's that saying again? The only words, words can't
- 1:07:30Speaker 15: kill me. But I can't even spell them And the
- 1:07:40Speaker 15: cadence of what she says is well Let's talk about
- 1:07:50Speaker 15: spaceships or anything Except you and me, okay Let's talk
- 1:07:56Speaker 15: about spaceships or anything Except you and me, okay Okay.
- 1:08:16Speaker 3: Don't look now, but.
- 1:08:18Speaker 15: There's a spider crawling on the wall behind you. I
- 1:08:30Speaker 15: should have paid attention and not to run. Let's talk
- 1:08:42Speaker 15: about spaceships or anything except you and me, okay? Let's
- 1:08:49Speaker 15: talk about spaceships or anything except you.
- 1:08:53Speaker 12: And me, okay?
- 1:08:56Speaker 3: Okay.
- 1:08:58Speaker 6: Okay.
- 1:09:21Speaker 15: Let's talk about spaceships or anything except you and me, okay?
- 1:09:28Speaker 15: Let's talk about spaceships.
- 1:09:30Speaker 6: Or anything except.
- 1:09:32Speaker 8: You and me, okay?
- 1:09:35Speaker 15: Let's talk about spaceships or anything except you.
- 1:09:39Speaker 6: And me, okay?
- 1:09:40Speaker 9: Okay.
- 1:10:03Speaker 1: Ignorance, I believe.
- 1:10:07Speaker 6: Malfunction. Malfunction. What were you saying about ignorance?
- 1:10:10Speaker 13: This episode is a production of Movie Meltdown, produced and
