- 0:09Speaker 1: Front Office, unfiltered resident GM Jim Bowden joining us right now, JB.
- 0:13Speaker 1: I actually want to start with a statement for you,
- 0:15Speaker 1: just like our old days when we still host some
- 0:17Speaker 1: radio shows together. So I'm just gonna start with this statement.
- 0:19Speaker 1: The game is broken, JB. It is broken. We have
- 0:23Speaker 1: the smallest TV market in Major League Baseball with by
- 0:27Speaker 1: far the best record in baseball. This is exactly what
- 0:30Speaker 1: everyone said all off season long, JB. Everyone was like,
- 0:34Speaker 1: it's so unfair. The smallest TV markets always are the best.
- 0:38Speaker 1: It's not fair that the Dodgers always stink. They get
- 0:41Speaker 1: to spend all the money and yet they're looking behind
- 0:43Speaker 1: them and the Padres might catch them. Oh wait, that's
- 0:45Speaker 1: not anything that we said. Most people said, one hundred
- 0:48Speaker 1: and twenty wins for the Dodgers. No one else has
- 0:49Speaker 1: a chance. Small markets have no chance. Oh wait, maybe
- 0:53Speaker 1: the Brewers are just run well. So what do you
- 0:54Speaker 1: think about where we're at as a sport in mid August.
- 0:58Speaker 2: Yeah, it's been exciting, hasn't it. The fact that we
- 1:00Speaker 2: have so many middle of small market teams that are
- 1:02Speaker 2: in the middle of a race. It's been a lot
- 1:04Speaker 2: of fun. And as you mentioned, the Milwaukee Brewers. I mean,
- 1:06Speaker 2: they have been the best team in baseball, and it's
- 1:08Speaker 2: been really fun to watch, right, the first team since
- 1:11Speaker 2: twenty nineteen to put together two ten game winning streaks
- 1:15Speaker 2: in the same season, Like that's just incredible. And yet
- 1:18Speaker 2: you look at their team and you understand why they
- 1:21Speaker 2: have three number one starters. Right. Freddy Peralta, who faces
- 1:25Speaker 2: Paul Skins today, has thirteen wins and a three o ERA.
- 1:29Speaker 2: Before Missarowski got hurt, he had four and one with
- 1:32Speaker 2: a two seven ERA, and Brandon Woodruff looks like the
- 1:35Speaker 2: ace was before he got hurt. He's four and oh
- 1:37Speaker 2: with a two two ERA, and oh, by the way,
- 1:38Speaker 2: the fourth starter, Jose Cantana, has ten wins in a
- 1:42Speaker 2: three four ERA, and Quinn Priestra has eleven wins and
- 1:45Speaker 2: a three four ERA, and oh, by the way, they
- 1:47Speaker 2: have an impact closer and Trevor McGill who's converted twenty
- 1:50Speaker 2: eight to thirty one save opportunities with a two to
- 1:52Speaker 2: two ERA, and oh, we'll talk about the offense fifth
- 1:56Speaker 2: in baseball and run score second in stolen bases, and
- 1:59Speaker 2: depending on what the defensive metrics you like, they're either
- 2:02Speaker 2: fourth or fifth or sixth. Right, pick your poison whatever
- 2:05Speaker 2: you want, but this is a complete team. Their manager
- 2:08Speaker 2: Pat Murphy's done unbelievable job. Their GM, Matt Arnold is
- 2:11Speaker 2: the reigning executive of the Year in Major League Baseball.
- 2:14Speaker 2: It's a small market team that is going out there
- 2:16Speaker 2: and is legitimately has a chance to not only win
- 2:20Speaker 2: this division, but get to the World Series and maybe
- 2:23Speaker 2: win the World Series. So it's been great for baseball.
- 2:25Speaker 2: It's a lot of fun to watch in the vibe
- 2:27Speaker 2: that's going on in Milwaukee is just sick.
- 2:29Speaker 3: I love it if you're the GM of this team.
- 2:32Speaker 3: Besides like saying, hey, these guys are winning, like I'm
- 2:35Speaker 3: just gonna let them, let them do what they do.
- 2:37Speaker 3: You've lost. Matt Arnold's been there before when David Stearns
- 2:40Speaker 3: was there, and this team just bows out in the playoffs.
- 2:44Speaker 3: Is there some kind of message that you're sending down saying, hey, okay, analytically,
- 2:49Speaker 3: we need to make sure that our manager makes this
- 2:53Speaker 3: adjustment because in the playoffs this hasn't worked because all
- 2:57Speaker 3: those names that you just said, it's all the same numbers,
- 3:01Speaker 3: just rinse and recycle different names. Besides Freddy Peralta in
- 3:04Speaker 3: Big WU, like it's a new closer. They've had the
- 3:06Speaker 3: best closer for the last six years in baseball. Like
- 3:10Speaker 3: it's just constantly they're just rinsing new names in. But
- 3:13Speaker 3: they haven't been able to push it through in the playoffs.
- 3:16Speaker 2: Yeah, that is true. And you know, I think when
- 3:17Speaker 2: we go back and we look at the ccs of
- 3:19Speaker 2: Atthew days when he was pitching on two in three
- 3:21Speaker 2: days rest just to go out there and try to win.
- 3:24Speaker 2: And then we had the run when they had Hater
- 3:27Speaker 2: and they were babying him, right, they weren't pushing the
- 3:30Speaker 2: envelope with him, which you know, maybe not caused them
- 3:34Speaker 2: a chance to get there. But I think this particular
- 3:37Speaker 2: team is a little bit different than the rest. I mean,
- 3:40Speaker 2: when you have three guys of Paralta, Mazerowski, and Woodruff
- 3:45Speaker 2: pitching up to their capabilities. With McGill and what he's
- 3:48Speaker 2: done the first time All Star this year, and the
- 3:51Speaker 2: way they play defense, the way they're so athletic, the
- 3:56Speaker 2: way they move the chains, and yet they have the
- 3:58Speaker 2: veterans like Christian Yell that can also carry the team.
- 4:02Speaker 2: I think this team is a little bit different. I
- 4:04Speaker 2: think this team has a better ceiling just because of
- 4:07Speaker 2: how deep they are. And again and I think, I
- 4:10Speaker 2: think Pat Murphy has just done a brilliant job with
- 4:12Speaker 2: this group. They're very close. They can beat you in
- 4:15Speaker 2: so many different ways, right, and you know Bryce Terank
- 4:18Speaker 2: can make a diving play up the middle, uh to
- 4:21Speaker 2: win your game. Durbin's jerseys dirty by the national anthem.
- 4:25Speaker 2: They're just knit. There's grit, there's it's a complete team.
- 4:29Speaker 2: So I actually like this team a lot better than
- 4:33Speaker 2: any Brewer team since Sabbathia was on the bump.
- 4:36Speaker 4: Everyone loves when Cec was pitching those games with the
- 4:38Speaker 4: Brewers because he pitched on two days resting, went nine
- 4:40Speaker 4: innings every time, Jim, So it's tough to fault anybody.
- 4:44Speaker 4: Oh hey, Cec, go throw a shut up. Okay, guys,
- 4:46Speaker 4: I pitched, Go do it again. Okay, I'll do that.
- 4:49Speaker 4: I mean, that's pretty tough to beat that. Speaking of
- 4:51Speaker 4: CC one of his other teams, I thought you were
- 4:53Speaker 4: talking about the Yankees and we were talking about a
- 4:54Speaker 4: complete team athleticism, well managed, pitching, defense, all. Oh wait, no,
- 5:00Speaker 4: you were not talking about them. What's going on in
- 5:02Speaker 4: the Yankee lamb? And who's to blame? I keep saying,
- 5:05Speaker 4: it's not Aaron Boon's fault. He's given a roster, he
- 5:07Speaker 4: does the best he can, he stands up for his players.
- 5:09Speaker 4: But who's really to blame for Yankee woes?
- 5:11Speaker 2: Well, first of all, you're completely right about it not
- 5:14Speaker 2: being on Aaron Boone, who, by the way, is a
- 5:16Speaker 2: defending American League champion manager and not only managed into
- 5:20Speaker 2: the World Series last year. But you know, look, this
- 5:23Speaker 2: team is built on their offense and more I guess
- 5:27Speaker 2: better said their power right, their first in the American
- 5:30Speaker 2: League and run scored, they lead Major League Baseball and homers,
- 5:33Speaker 2: they lead Major League Baseball and slug We know Aaron
- 5:36Speaker 2: Judge has most to do with that, But the fact is,
- 5:39Speaker 2: as a team, that's not the part of the team
- 5:41Speaker 2: we're worried about that. That part's good. It's how they
- 5:43Speaker 2: win games. They have to win with their power, but
- 5:45Speaker 2: they can do that. But then we get to the
- 5:48Speaker 2: pitching part, and I'm looking for Garrett Cole but oh,
- 5:50Speaker 2: I guess he had Tommy John surgery. Oh I was
- 5:53Speaker 2: looking for Clark Schmidt. He's not there. I didn't get
- 5:56Speaker 2: to see Lewis heel in the first half. Marcus Stroman
- 5:59Speaker 2: got released, and there's seventeenth and TmrA. The starting pitching
- 6:03Speaker 2: is tenth because you know, when you have freedom, you
- 6:06Speaker 2: have Rodon and now heelback's that's okay, and the kids
- 6:09Speaker 2: a pitch well, right, Schuittler has been really good for them,
- 6:12Speaker 2: which is a positive sign. Will Warren pitch great last night.
- 6:15Speaker 2: So the starting pitching kind of gives you a shot.
- 6:18Speaker 2: And then we go to the pen, which has been
- 6:20Speaker 2: a huge problem. Right they're twenty second in baseball and
- 6:23Speaker 2: TMRI back there. Devin Williams has been a nightmare as
- 6:26Speaker 2: we all know. But GM Brian Cashman does what he
- 6:29Speaker 2: always does. He stepped up of the deadline, went and
- 6:31Speaker 2: got David Bednar and made some other moves to try
- 6:34Speaker 2: to fortify it defensively. As you guys know, it's not
- 6:37Speaker 2: a good defensive team, right, It's in the middle of
- 6:39Speaker 2: the pack no matter how you want to break down.
- 6:41Speaker 2: They're not very athletic, they're kind of one dimensional offensively,
- 6:45Speaker 2: and they're a team that you know, maybe gets a
- 6:48Speaker 2: wild card and maybe goes home. It's kind of a
- 6:50Speaker 2: it's kind of a borderline team right now, it's going
- 6:53Speaker 2: to come down to pitching, and that's that's gonna be
- 6:55Speaker 2: the focus. They're gonna have enough offense, the defenses are
- 6:58Speaker 2: going to be great. But at the same time, how
- 7:01Speaker 2: do you pitch the rest of the way. He's going
- 7:03Speaker 2: to determine if they're a playoff team and how far
- 7:05Speaker 2: they go. But to sit there and blame any of
- 7:07Speaker 2: this on the manager's foolish. I love the way he
- 7:10Speaker 2: stands up for the players, and by the way, behind
- 7:12Speaker 2: the scenes, he's a pretty good communicator, and you know
- 7:15Speaker 2: he'll get tough on a player in his office one
- 7:17Speaker 2: on one. But he doesn't embarrass players, right, not publicly
- 7:21Speaker 2: and not privately does he embarrass him. He's done a
- 7:25Speaker 2: great job and as I said, American League champion. But
- 7:29Speaker 2: we all know what it's like in New York, right
- 7:30Speaker 2: if you're not in first place, everyone needs to be fired.
- 7:33Speaker 2: I remember coming home from the World Series game in
- 7:36Speaker 2: New York in the taxi cab and the cab driver goes,
- 7:39Speaker 2: you know, if we don't win tonight, boom boone's gonna
- 7:41Speaker 2: get fired. He's gotta go. It's like, okay, okay, enough.
- 7:47Speaker 1: Kratz tell everyone why they need to look into a

- 8:48Speaker 1: last year. That was evident, right, that was a clunky
- 8:51Speaker 1: roster that Aaron bood led to a world series. And
- 8:54Speaker 1: also we know the front offices have as much, if
- 8:57Speaker 1: not a bigger impact than ever on our sport. Right
- 9:00Speaker 1: help on some sides to side lineups they script games
- 9:03Speaker 1: the whole deal. So my follow up here, because I'm
- 9:06Speaker 1: getting into many debates with Yankee fans, including some right
- 9:08Speaker 1: now that are in our YouTube chat, revolves around Devin Williams.
- 9:11Speaker 2: Two parter for you.
- 9:13Speaker 1: One, do you fall to any of the usage Like
- 9:16Speaker 1: I believe it was Friday's game when Boonie said afterward
- 9:19Speaker 1: he can't really find a soft landing spine. You got
- 9:21Speaker 1: to use your relievers. So essentially it's like, unless you're
- 9:24Speaker 1: cutting this guy, you got to put him in some
- 9:26Speaker 1: games if they're all tight games. That's the first portion.
- 9:28Speaker 1: The second portion I'm getting into right now with a
- 9:31Speaker 1: fan who's who wanted to ask you why they didn't
- 9:34Speaker 1: trade Devin Williams at the deadline, and he said, they
- 9:36Speaker 1: already have two closes they brought in, why would they
- 9:38Speaker 1: have another? So can you explain how teams like to
- 9:41Speaker 1: gather high leverage relievers. And also, if Devin Williams was
- 9:44Speaker 1: that broken that a contender's trading him away, then what
- 9:47Speaker 1: team would even want him at that point?
- 9:49Speaker 2: Yeah, they're not gonna want them. And look, when you
- 9:52Speaker 2: have a talent like Devin Williams that has a bugs
- 9:55Speaker 2: bunny change up, you know, you're hoping you can get
- 9:57Speaker 2: him back on track. You know, we've seen a lot
- 9:59Speaker 2: of relievers go through bad slumps and all of a
- 10:01Speaker 2: sudden they figured out and they can be dominant. We
- 10:04Speaker 2: have six weeks left in the season. But I think
- 10:07Speaker 2: there's an argument that sometimes Devin Williams has been brought
- 10:11Speaker 2: into games where you know, I probably would have done
- 10:14Speaker 2: something differently, right, I mean, you got to win, and
- 10:18Speaker 2: I can't sit there and hope that I'm going to
- 10:19Speaker 2: get the Devin Williams of last year. I have to
- 10:22Speaker 2: understand that I had the Devin Williams of this year,
- 10:25Speaker 2: and I have to use them accordingly. I mean, that's
- 10:28Speaker 2: why it was great that Cash went on got Bednar.
- 10:30Speaker 2: You've got your closer. Now Bednar could be that guy.
- 10:33Speaker 2: Weaver can get to him. And yeah, there's gonna be
- 10:36Speaker 2: games where you know, you have to use Devin Williams
- 10:38Speaker 2: in high leverage just because that's you know, he's one
- 10:41Speaker 2: of thirteen guys and everyone's got to be used. But yeah,
- 10:44Speaker 2: I think you can manage that. But look that this
- 10:47Speaker 2: Yankee team is flawed, but it's still as a team
- 10:51Speaker 2: that could get to the playoffs, and they're going to
- 10:53Speaker 2: have to earn it. And let's wait and see.
- 10:55Speaker 4: We talked about the Yankees, Let's talk about two other
- 10:57Speaker 4: teams with high expectations, the Mets and the Dodgers. I mean,
- 11:00Speaker 4: the Dodgers are only one game in front.
- 11:02Speaker 3: The Mets have.
- 11:03Speaker 4: Fallen well well behind, six games behind the Phillies at
- 11:06Speaker 4: this point. Which one has the better opportunity? Well, the
- 11:09Speaker 4: first of all, I'm asking you this, do you think
- 11:10Speaker 4: the Dodgers will win the division? And then if they
- 11:12Speaker 4: get to the playoffs, do you think the Dodgers by
- 11:15Speaker 4: far have a better chance to make a deep run
- 11:17Speaker 4: over the Mets.
- 11:19Speaker 2: I think they have a better chance to run a
- 11:21Speaker 2: deeper run than the Mets. But I think the Padres
- 11:24Speaker 2: win the division, so kind of kind of go through that.
- 11:27Speaker 2: And I worry a little bit about the Mets rotation.
- 11:31Speaker 2: I think they'll turn things around. They're not where they
- 11:33Speaker 2: won to nine in their last ten. I know they're
- 11:35Speaker 2: not playing well. And I'll ask you this, AJ, what
- 11:39Speaker 2: do you do when your star players aren't hitting right?
- 11:42Speaker 2: Alonzo last games hitting one ninety, Lindner hitting one sixty eight,
- 11:46Speaker 2: Nimo's hitting two oh five in the last twenty games.
- 11:49Speaker 2: I mean I'll ask you, what do you do to
- 11:51Speaker 2: turn and a Roundron Soto is hitting two o two
- 11:53Speaker 2: in the last twenty games. Those are your star players.
- 11:56Speaker 2: So normally when one slumps, the others are carrying you.
- 11:58Speaker 2: And now all of a sudden, none of them are
- 12:00Speaker 2: at the same time. I mean, my guess is they're
- 12:03Speaker 2: going to turn it around and get hot, and then
- 12:05Speaker 2: they'll win eight out of nine and turn things around.
- 12:08Speaker 2: But I'll ask you, how do you how do you
- 12:10Speaker 2: fix those guys when in August they've had a twenty
- 12:13Speaker 2: game slump?
- 12:15Speaker 4: Bench them be them all, gimp, send them down, no
- 12:20Speaker 4: trade up. No, no, Well there used to be Mark
- 12:25Speaker 4: Grace used to have a great idea, but we can't
- 12:26Speaker 4: do that anymore. So I honestly don't know.
- 12:31Speaker 2: I don't.
- 12:31Speaker 4: You just hope they all get hot, because, like you said, normally,
- 12:33Speaker 4: they don't all get cold at the same time. So yeah,
- 12:36Speaker 4: I just I'm just I'm going to go back to
- 12:38Speaker 4: the other thing you said. Do you think the Padres
- 12:39Speaker 4: are going to win the West? How disappointing for Dodger fans,
- 12:44Speaker 4: Dodger organization, Dodger everything if the Padres somehow win the West.
- 12:50Speaker 2: Yeah, of course, I think a couple couple of things.
- 12:54Speaker 2: With the Padres, they made the back end of that
- 12:56Speaker 2: bullpen so ridiculously dominant that if they get into the seventh,
- 13:00Speaker 2: eight to ninth with the Dodgers, and they're going to
- 13:02Speaker 2: play him two weekends in a row, this weekend in
- 13:05Speaker 2: La the next weekend in San Diego, and this is
- 13:07Speaker 2: going to be playoff baseball in August. I can't wait.
- 13:09Speaker 2: I'm so excited for this. But that bullpen, you know
- 13:12Speaker 2: you watched them last night, right when you get Miller
- 13:14Speaker 2: and Sorez in those last two aning ball games over
- 13:17Speaker 2: and so in that strata's dominant, Adam's dominant. I mean,
- 13:22Speaker 2: that bullpen is so deep and strong, and it's so
- 13:24Speaker 2: much better than the Dodgers, and I think that's going
- 13:27Speaker 2: to be a huge factor. The other thing is the Dodgers' rotation.
- 13:30Speaker 2: It's good, it's solid, some of it's getting healthier, but
- 13:33Speaker 2: they're not as elite. And on the other side, King
- 13:37Speaker 2: just came off the il. We'll see how he looks
- 13:39Speaker 2: at his second start off. Darvis last night looked great.
- 13:42Speaker 2: He was throwing his twelve pitches, including in the kitchen sink,
- 13:45Speaker 2: didn't walk anybody, punched out six and looked really good.
- 13:49Speaker 2: And then you know, the biggest problem with the Padres
- 13:52Speaker 2: has been the bottom third of the lineup. You know,
- 13:55Speaker 2: just wasn't producing all year. AJ Preler went out the
- 13:59Speaker 2: deadline and said, no problem, here's Ramon Loriano, no problem,
- 14:02Speaker 2: here's Ryan O'Hearn, right, And all of a sudden, Lewis
- 14:05Speaker 2: Arrise has gotten hot after a relatively slow start even
- 14:08Speaker 2: for him, and now you're getting production up and down
- 14:11Speaker 2: the lineup been. In fact, in the last twenty days,
- 14:15Speaker 2: Xander Bogartz has been their best power hitter. Right, He's
- 14:17Speaker 2: got five home runs over that time to lead the team.
- 14:20Speaker 2: So their lineup now top, the bottom is there, and
- 14:24Speaker 2: the bullpen is unbelievable, and of course the vibe at
- 14:27Speaker 2: Petco is tremendous as well. So yeah, I think it's
- 14:31Speaker 2: gonna be a fun raise between the Padres and Dodgers.
- 14:33Speaker 2: I think it'll go to the end. I'm gonna pick
- 14:35Speaker 2: the Padres to win because of the bullpen and the
- 14:38Speaker 2: depth of the lineup now, which I think AJ corrected.
- 14:42Speaker 2: And then in terms of the nets, look, I think
- 14:44Speaker 2: they get the last spot over the Reds because I
- 14:47Speaker 2: think they're not as bad as what they're showing right now,
- 14:50Speaker 2: and I think they'll they'll turn around. I think they're
- 14:52Speaker 2: better than Cincinnati because the lineup should be much better
- 14:56Speaker 2: than Cincinnati's, and I think that'll be the difference down
- 14:59Speaker 2: the stretch. But in the postseason, if I had to
- 15:02Speaker 2: rank the playoff teams, if the Mets get that six spot,
- 15:05Speaker 2: I would rank them six out of the playoff teams.
- 15:08Speaker 3: All right, you said about the Dodgers not winning the West.
- 15:10Speaker 3: You know it's gonna be close. But isn't that the
- 15:13Speaker 3: worst case scenario in the sense that a team that
- 15:16Speaker 3: wants to play the least amount of games because their
- 15:18Speaker 3: team that's built around a lot of guys that get hurt,
- 15:22Speaker 3: needing to play an extra wildcard series could be the
- 15:27Speaker 3: worst case scenario for them. And did the Dodgers go
- 15:31Speaker 3: to all in on guys that are essentially injury risks
- 15:36Speaker 3: and now they could be up against needing to play
- 15:39Speaker 3: extra games to get to where they want to be.
- 15:41Speaker 2: Yeah, I think that's fair. I mean, you know, Andrew
- 15:44Speaker 2: Friedman has always tried to offset those risks by building
- 15:48Speaker 2: so much depth, right, I mean to think of the
- 15:51Speaker 2: injuries they've had to twelve starters and now to still
- 15:55Speaker 2: be in first place today, I mean, how many teams
- 15:57Speaker 2: could ever do that, right, especially when names that were
- 16:00Speaker 2: down were like Snell and glass now and Sasaki and
- 16:04Speaker 2: you're still in first place today. That's that's incredible. So
- 16:07Speaker 2: they've tried to build it with depth. And you know
- 16:10Speaker 2: the one thing that Dodgers just need to make sure
- 16:13Speaker 2: is that their starting pitchers are healthy come October, that
- 16:15Speaker 2: their big guys are ready to go, and then they
- 16:19Speaker 2: can clearly, you know, possibly run the table here. They
- 16:22Speaker 2: can afford to make those gambling risks that most teams can't.
- 16:27Speaker 2: They can keep signing injury prone guys just because they
- 16:31Speaker 2: can spend whatever they want. They don't have a salary cap,
- 16:33Speaker 2: they don't have a limit. They don't have a problem
- 16:36Speaker 2: spending three hundred million more than the Marlins this year
- 16:39Speaker 2: on payroll because they can. And if you can, why not.
- 16:42Speaker 2: So yeah, I mean, but yeah, I think health is
- 16:45Speaker 2: going to play a big part of how far the
- 16:47Speaker 2: Dodgers go when they get to October. They'll get there
- 16:50Speaker 2: even as a maybe as a wild card team, but
- 16:53Speaker 2: playing the extra round with injury risk players, sure that's
- 16:56Speaker 2: going to be a factor.
- 16:57Speaker 1: Yeah, It's funny we said the same thing last year
- 16:59Speaker 1: because was not a shiny rotation and they won a
- 17:02Speaker 1: World Series. I would make the case the Padres are
- 17:04Speaker 1: stronger this year. The Phillies are stronger this year, so
- 17:06Speaker 1: it'll be a tough competition for them.
- 17:08Speaker 2: But JB.
- 17:09Speaker 1: Good catching up with you. JB.
- 17:12Speaker 2: Yeah, you have crouchouts.
- 17:13Speaker 4: We need to do JB's hoodie. So what's what's the
- 17:15Speaker 4: hoodie today? Because I don't see a giant name brand.
- 17:18Speaker 3: On that one.
- 17:18Speaker 2: Yeah, we're just alo today, AJ that that's my goat.
- 17:21Speaker 2: When the going gets tough, I just grab an aloe. Okay,
- 17:25Speaker 2: it's good. I actually had another one on. It was purple.
- 17:28Speaker 2: My wife said I look fatin, so she made me change.
- 17:33Speaker 3: DUPD sweatshirt. Hey.
- 17:36Speaker 1: Hey, she's a wonderful lady, so we give her all
- 17:39Speaker 1: of the credit in the world, right, JB. She's only
- 17:41Speaker 1: got your back, She's looking out for you. Yes, exactly,
- 17:45Speaker 1: And I love the black. It looks good.
- 17:49Speaker 2: They kill you, JB.
- 17:50Speaker 1: Good stuff. We'll catch you soon.
- 17:51Speaker 2: Okay, sounds good.
- 17:53Speaker 1: I was going back and forth with Stephen in the
- 17:54Speaker 1: chat during that conversation with JB. The question we didn't
- 17:57Speaker 1: get to of his was about the Mets. He said,
- 17:59Speaker 1: do you think that David Stearns will go after those
- 18:03Speaker 1: big money Ace Bulldog guys in future off seasons? That's
- 18:07Speaker 1: one of his things. He likes to avoid that. He
- 18:10Speaker 1: doesn't believe in it. But I just wonder, Krats, when
- 18:13Speaker 1: you spend so much on your team that's going to
- 18:16Speaker 1: hurt you, is it worth taking that risk every once
- 18:19Speaker 1: in a while. Frankie Montas has been an absolute disaster
- 18:24Speaker 1: contract And I get it. It's not burning them. It's
- 18:26Speaker 1: two years, thirty four million. I mean, for other teams
- 18:28Speaker 1: it could really hurt. That's seventeen million dollars on a
- 18:31Speaker 1: guy who hasn't pitched much this year and has been
- 18:33Speaker 1: really bad since he returned. Those are the kind of
- 18:35Speaker 1: guys that they hope they sprinkle a little Jeremy Hefner
- 18:39Speaker 1: magic dust on and he turns into a star and
- 18:41Speaker 1: some of them work. Not saying don't do that. I'm
- 18:43Speaker 1: just saying they're not all going to work. And if
- 18:46Speaker 1: you have a year like last year and then this
- 18:47Speaker 1: year a few of them don't pan out, boom here
- 18:50Speaker 1: you are.
- 18:52Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 18:52Speaker 3: I mean, I think I don't think they'll I don't
- 18:54Speaker 3: know I guess. I guess if this year doesn't pan
- 18:57Speaker 3: out the way he wants it to, maybe he'll revisit it.
- 19:00Speaker 3: But there's contracts that are not the Frankie Montas sized
- 19:04Speaker 3: contracts and not the Corbyn Burns contracts. There's stuff in
- 19:10Speaker 3: the middle, like if you remember Zach Wheeler came over
- 19:12Speaker 3: to the Phillies a few years ago for you know,
- 19:14Speaker 3: one hundred million. I think he'll dip his toe in there.
- 19:17Speaker 3: But some guys just really are afraid of that six
- 19:22Speaker 3: to eight year contract for thirty five to forty million
- 19:27Speaker 3: may have to change though, because you need that horse.
- 19:30Speaker 3: You need a guy every five days to give everybody
- 19:32Speaker 3: in a pan of blow yep.
- 19:35Speaker 1: I should have signed Foravetta.
- 19:39Speaker 2: Hey.
- 19:39Speaker 1: We have some stat Cast numbers that were pointed out. Man,
- 19:43Speaker 1: I forget who tweeted it, but it was pretty cool.
- 19:45Speaker 1: Oh here Red sox Enjoyer I think was the one
- 19:48Speaker 1: who put out some of the all timers stat Cast numbers.
- 19:51Speaker 1: So I think the stat cast era is since twenty fifteen.
- 19:56Speaker 1: I want to say, you know, it's funny we used
- 19:57Speaker 1: to not be allowed to say stat castra. They wanted
- 19:59Speaker 1: us to say since stat cast started or something.
- 20:02Speaker 2: Like that.
- 20:02Speaker 1: Yeah, it was a MLB thing.
- 20:04Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 20:05Speaker 1: I didn't ask. Anyway, we can show you some of
- 20:09Speaker 1: the red and who's on the leader board if we
- 20:12Speaker 1: have it there. It is Batting run value judge from
- 20:14Speaker 1: twenty four Billy Hamilton still has the top base running
- 20:18Speaker 1: value number from twenty sixteen. Fielding run value number is
- 20:21Speaker 1: Posey in twenty sixteen. Most out out above average range
- 20:26Speaker 1: wise Nick Ahmed twenty eighteen. Thirty four plus thirty four.
- 20:30Speaker 1: Arm value was Adam Eaton in twenty sixteen. Armed strength
- 20:33Speaker 1: was O'Neil Cruz. Last year sprint speed Byron Buxton in
- 20:37Speaker 1: twenty fifteen, tied with Victor Roeblace in twenty seventeen. I
- 20:40Speaker 1: don't have time to read all of the others on here,
- 20:43Speaker 1: but a lot of Aaron Judge and Luis Arise Arise
- 20:47Speaker 1: for contact Judge for strength. What do you guys think?
- 20:53Speaker 3: I'm trying to look at the one that Alex Avila
- 20:55Speaker 3: is on La sweet Spot.
- 20:58Speaker 1: Launching Laundjangle sweet Spot.
- 21:01Speaker 3: So that's good.
- 21:04Speaker 2: I guess I think it's going, but I think it's cool.
- 21:08Speaker 3: But it's not anything. It's not anything we didn't know.
- 21:11Speaker 3: That's why I was looking at all that stuff like
- 21:12Speaker 3: it's like, yeah, you knew those guys were all going
- 21:16Speaker 3: to be at the top. I didn't know when That's cool.
- 21:18Speaker 3: Was the Byron Buckson. We talked about it the other day.
- 21:20Speaker 3: Byron Buckson's just more faster than Simpson.
- 21:24Speaker 1: Yeah, than Chandler Simpson. That's true.
