DOJ Rejects Calls for Special Counsel in Jeffrey Epstein Investigation (11/2/26) · The Vault: The Epstein Files

0:00
Speaker 1: What's up everyone and welcome to another episode of the
0:03
Speaker 1: Epstein Chronicles. On October 26th, House Judiciary Democrats called for
0:09
Speaker 1: the appointment of an independent special counsel to investigate Jeffrey
0:13
Speaker 1: Epstein's network, his potential co-conspirators, and the conduct of the
0:18
Speaker 1: government officials who have spent years handling this radioactive mess.
0:23
Speaker 1: Three days later, the Department of Justice said that it
0:26
Speaker 1: would not be appointing one. apparently deciding that the American
0:30
Speaker 1: people had already received more than enough accountability for one lifetime. Well,
0:36
Speaker 1: isn't that just fucking convenient? The very institution accused of
0:40
Speaker 1: withholding evidence, protecting powerful interests, and obstructing legitimate scrutiny has
0:46
Speaker 1: decided that it doesn't need anybody independent poking around its
0:50
Speaker 1: filing cabinets. Imagine that. A government agency accused of misconduct,
0:55
Speaker 1: conducting its own assessment, of whether its conduct deserves further investigation,
1:00
Speaker 1: and coming back with a resounding no. What a fucking
1:03
Speaker 1: remarkable coincidence. And what a pile of steaming horseshit to
1:07
Speaker 1: dump on the American taxpayer. My question to the cowards
1:12
Speaker 1: making these decisions is a very simple one, and I
1:14
Speaker 1: would absolutely love to hear one of them answer it
1:18
Speaker 1: without hiding behind a spokesperson or some tortured legal explanation.
1:23
Speaker 1: The fuck are you so afraid of? What's sitting in
1:26
Speaker 1: those unreleased records that makes the prospect of an independent
1:29
Speaker 1: investigation so politically radioactive that the Justice Department would rather
1:34
Speaker 1: absorb another round of public outrage than allow somebody outside
1:38
Speaker 1: its carefully managed circle to examine the evidence? What exactly
1:42
Speaker 1: is the downside of letting a prosecutor who doesn't owe
1:45
Speaker 1: Donald Trump, Todd Blanche, or anybody else in D.C. a
1:49
Speaker 1: goddamn thing examine how this investigation was conducted and determine...
1:54
Speaker 1: whether additional criminal charges are warranted. Because from where I'm sitting,
1:59
Speaker 1: this refusal looks an awful lot like an institution that
2:03
Speaker 1: would rather have Americans believe the worst about its conduct
2:06
Speaker 1: than risk letting somebody discover precisely what that conduct involved. Now,
2:12
Speaker 1: Todd Blanche, the man currently occupying the Attorney General's office,
2:17
Speaker 1: was Donald Trump's personal defense attorney before climbing into one
2:20
Speaker 1: of the most powerful law enforcement positions on the planet.
2:23
Speaker 1: And somehow, we're supposed to pretend that this little detail
2:27
Speaker 1: is completely irrelevant to the Epstein investigation? Are you fucking
2:31
Speaker 1: kidding me? We're talking about a federal investigation involving a
2:36
Speaker 1: sprawling sex trafficking operation, politically connected individuals, allegations implicating the
2:42
Speaker 1: president himself, and potential misconduct by government officials. Yet the
2:48
Speaker 1: administration expects everybody to accept the judgment of the president's
2:52
Speaker 1: former lawyer, about whether an independent inquiry is necessary? That
2:57
Speaker 1: is not exactly the sort of arrangement that inspires confidence
3:01
Speaker 1: in the impartial administration of justice, unless your idea of
3:04
Speaker 1: impartiality is letting the defendant's golfing buddy supervise the investigation.
3:10
Speaker 1: The entire reason special counsel regulations exist is that circumstances
3:15
Speaker 1: sometimes arise in which conflicts of interest or extraordinary consideration
3:19
Speaker 1: make ordinary departmental oversight inappropriate. Apparently the people running this
3:24
Speaker 1: particular department believe that having the president's former attorney oversee
3:29
Speaker 1: decisions concerning matters potentially implicating the president isn't enough to
3:33
Speaker 1: justify additional independence. What the hell would qualify then? A
3:38
Speaker 1: signed confession from somebody in the West Wing admitting that
3:41
Speaker 1: the entire operation was designed to protect politically connected individuals?
3:46
Speaker 1: Does somebody have to wheel a filing cabinet full of
3:48
Speaker 1: incriminating evidence onto Pennsylvania Avenue? and set it on fire
3:52
Speaker 1: before the department acknowledges that there might be an appearance problem?
3:56
Speaker 1: This isn't some personal legal practice where the boss gets
3:59
Speaker 1: to decide which of his clients deserves protection and which
4:03
Speaker 1: inconvenient questions should disappear into the shredder. This is the
4:08
Speaker 1: United States Department of Justice, funded by the American people,
4:12
Speaker 1: and watching it behave as though the president's political interests
4:15
Speaker 1: and public interests are interchangeable is enough to make anybody
4:18
Speaker 1: with a functioning conscience absolutely fucking sick And I know
4:23
Speaker 1: you haven't forgotten the DOJ and FBI's little victory lap
4:27
Speaker 1: in July of 2025 when they informed the country that
4:30
Speaker 1: their review had uncovered no evidence justifying investigations into uncharged
4:35
Speaker 1: third parties connected to Epstein. They delivered that conclusion with
4:39
Speaker 1: the kind of confidence usually reserved for somebody who has
4:42
Speaker 1: already checked the locks, burned the paperwork, and swallowed the
4:46
Speaker 1: fucking key. Never mind that Epstein maintained an international operation
4:51
Speaker 1: involving multiple properties and enormous financial resources, private aircraft, employees, associates,
4:58
Speaker 1: and people who helped facilitate the abuse of vulnerable girls
5:02
Speaker 1: and young women. Never mind the decades of unanswered questions
5:06
Speaker 1: about who knew what, who facilitated what, which public officials
5:10
Speaker 1: made decisions that allowed the disgusting bastard to keep operating
5:14
Speaker 1: long after his criminal conduct had been brought to the
5:16
Speaker 1: attention of the authorities. We were simply expected to accept
5:21
Speaker 1: that the government had conducted an exhaustive investigation, examined every
5:25
Speaker 1: credible lead, and determined that nobody else needed to face
5:30
Speaker 1: federal prosecution. Then additional records emerged, congressional investigators highlighted unresolved allegations,
5:38
Speaker 1: and the supposed final chapter developed enough loose ends to
5:42
Speaker 1: choke a fucking horse. So where are the investigative memoranda
5:46
Speaker 1: explaining why particular leads were abandoned which witnesses were questioned,
5:52
Speaker 1: and what evidence prosecutors relied upon when they decided that
5:55
Speaker 1: additional investigations weren't warranted, who made the decisions, who reviewed them,
6:00
Speaker 1: and how many of those determinations involved politically connected individuals
6:05
Speaker 1: whose relationship with Epstein could have created serious problems for
6:08
Speaker 1: people occupying positions of power. If the investigation was genuinely
6:14
Speaker 1: as comprehensive as the department claims, An independent prosecutor should
6:19
Speaker 1: be able to establish that without requiring the American people
6:22
Speaker 1: to blindly trust another self-serving proclamation from the very agency
6:26
Speaker 1: whose conduct has become the subject of such intense scrutiny.
6:31
Speaker 1: Instead of welcoming the opportunity to demonstrate that everything was
6:35
Speaker 1: handled appropriately, these arrogant bastards have decided that the appropriate
6:39
Speaker 1: response is to nail the fucking door shut and congratulate
6:43
Speaker 1: themselves for maintaining the integrity of an investigation they refused
6:47
Speaker 1: to let anybody independently examine. Congress had to pass the
6:51
Speaker 1: Epstein File Transparency Act in November of 2025 to force
6:55
Speaker 1: the federal government to release records pertaining to a sex
6:58
Speaker 1: trafficking investigation that had already become one of the most
7:01
Speaker 1: controversial law enforcement matters in American history. That alone should
7:07
Speaker 1: embarrass the living hell out of every official who spent
7:10
Speaker 1: the past several years delivering sanctimonious speeches about transparency, accountability,
7:16
Speaker 1: and the sacred responsibility of public service. An agency supposedly
7:21
Speaker 1: dedicated to justice had to be dragged toward disclosure by
7:25
Speaker 1: legislation because simply trusting it to act in the public
7:29
Speaker 1: interest had become a laughable proposition. Then the December deadline arrived,
7:34
Speaker 1: the department failed to complete the required release, and the
7:37
Speaker 1: American people were treated to months of arguments over missing records,
7:41
Speaker 1: questionable redactions, and the government's insistence that its handling of
7:44
Speaker 1: the material was perfectly acceptable. As millions of pages were released,
7:50
Speaker 1: officials repeatedly congratulated themselves for their tremendous accomplishment. With legitimate
7:56
Speaker 1: questions about the remaining records and the decisions surrounding their disclosure, well,
8:00
Speaker 1: they continued to pile up. Somehow, the department even managed
8:04
Speaker 1: to expose identifying information belonging to Epstein survivors during the
8:09
Speaker 1: release process, demonstrating once again an extraordinary capacity to be
8:14
Speaker 1: careless with information that required protection, while remaining fiercely protective
8:19
Speaker 1: of decisions that demanded public examination. Think about the sheer
8:24
Speaker 1: fucking absurdity of that arrangement. Because it would almost be
8:28
Speaker 1: funny if the consequences weren't so devastating to people who
8:31
Speaker 1: had already endured enough at the hands of Epstein and
8:34
Speaker 1: the institutions that repeatedly failed them. We have government officials
8:39
Speaker 1: defending their handling of records while survivors, journalists, lawmakers, and
8:44
Speaker 1: independent investigators... are still fighting to establish precisely what was withheld,
8:48
Speaker 1: why it was withheld, and whether the public has received
8:51
Speaker 1: the information, Congress, required to be disclosed. And now, after
8:57
Speaker 1: all the bureaucratic tap dancing and all those ridiculous assurances
9:01
Speaker 1: that the government has nothing to hide, the same department
9:04
Speaker 1: has decided that appointing somebody independent to examine its conduct
9:09
Speaker 1: would be completely unnecessary. You couldn't design a more arrogant
9:13
Speaker 1: display of institutional self-preservation if you locked a hundred corrupt
9:18
Speaker 1: bureaucrats in a conference room and promised them promotions for
9:21
Speaker 1: coming up with the most insulting possible response to the
9:24
Speaker 1: American people. I mean, all you have to do is
9:28
Speaker 1: consider the spectacle involving Ghislaine Maxwell, a convicted sex trafficker
9:32
Speaker 1: whose intimate knowledge of Epstein's operation should have made extracting
9:36
Speaker 1: every legitimate investigative lead from her an enormous priority for
9:39
Speaker 1: federal authorities. Instead, Americans watch Todd Blanche, Donald Trump's former
9:45
Speaker 1: personal attorney, conduct a two-day interview with Maxwell, while serious
9:50
Speaker 1: questions remain about the government's willingness to investigate Epstein's broader network.
9:56
Speaker 1: House Judiciary Democrats have since raised specific concerns about exchanges
10:01
Speaker 1: during that interview, including allegations that Blanche steered the conversation
10:05
Speaker 1: away from discussing individuals whose connections to the case might
10:08
Speaker 1: have warranted additional scrutiny. Maxwell was subsequently transferred to a
10:13
Speaker 1: lower-security federal facility, creating yet another set of questions about
10:18
Speaker 1: the treatment of a woman in who played a central
10:20
Speaker 1: role in the exploitation of children. What an absolutely extraordinary
10:25
Speaker 1: collection of circumstances for a Justice Department that expects the
10:29
Speaker 1: American public to believe its handling of the Epstein matter
10:32
Speaker 1: has been beyond reproach. The president's former lawyer personally interviews
10:37
Speaker 1: one of the most important surviving figures in the entire operation,
10:41
Speaker 1: concerns emerge about the subjects discussed during that conversation, and
10:45
Speaker 1: the convicted trafficker subsequently finds herself enjoying a considerably different
10:50
Speaker 1: custodial environment. Wouldn't it be wonderful to have an independent
10:54
Speaker 1: investigator examine the communications, decisions, and internal discussions surrounding those
11:00
Speaker 1: events instead of asking the very officials involved to evaluate
11:04
Speaker 1: whether their own conduct deserves further scrutiny? Wouldn't it be
11:08
Speaker 1: reassuring to know that somebody with actual subpoena power could
11:12
Speaker 1: determine whether every relevant question was asked, every meaningful lead
11:16
Speaker 1: was pursued, and every decision regarding Maxwell's treatment was made
11:20
Speaker 1: for legitimate reasons. But apparently that's too much to ask
11:24
Speaker 1: of a department that's become remarkably talented in discovering procedural
11:28
Speaker 1: obstacles whenever somebody suggests examining the conduct of people occupying
11:33
Speaker 1: the highest levels of government. At this point, the department's
11:36
Speaker 1: insistence that everything is perfectly normal has become as convincing
11:41
Speaker 1: as a crooked casino dealer explaining that the house wins
11:43
Speaker 1: every hand because the cards just happen to fall that way.
11:47
Speaker 1: And in my opinion, the most revealing part of this
11:50
Speaker 1: entire disgrace might be the contempt for which the administration
11:54
Speaker 1: and the Justice Department appear to regard the intelligence of
11:57
Speaker 1: the American people. They seem to believe that if they
12:01
Speaker 1: repeat the same assurances often enough, issue enough carefully worded
12:05
Speaker 1: statements and refuse enough requests for independent scrutiny, everybody will
12:09
Speaker 1: eventually become exhausted and move on to something else. These
12:14
Speaker 1: fools told us the investigation was exhaustive while refusing independent
12:18
Speaker 1: examination of how that investigation was conducted. They boast about
12:23
Speaker 1: releasing millions of documents, while disputes continue over what remains withheld.
12:27
Speaker 1: And they insist the system is functioning properly, while rejecting
12:31
Speaker 1: a straightforward mechanism for examining whether that assertion is actually true.
12:37
Speaker 1: And now, when survivors and lawmakers call for somebody independent
12:40
Speaker 1: to examine the evidence... and the conduct of public officials,
12:44
Speaker 1: the answer from the people controlling the evidence is apparently
12:47
Speaker 1: that such an appointment simply isn't going to happen. Well,
12:52
Speaker 1: fuck that, and fuck the arrogant assumption that the American
12:55
Speaker 1: people are obligated to accept whatever convenient conclusion emerges from
13:00
Speaker 1: an institution that has repeatedly given people reasons to question
13:03
Speaker 1: its credibility. The Department of Justice does not belong to
13:07
Speaker 1: Donald Trump, Todd Blanch, the Republican Party, the Democratic Party,
13:11
Speaker 1: or any collection of politically connected individuals who might find
13:15
Speaker 1: themselves embarrassed or endangered by a legitimate criminal investigation. That
13:20
Speaker 1: shit belongs to the American people, and the authority exercised
13:23
Speaker 1: in its name is supposed to serve the public interest
13:27
Speaker 1: rather than function as a convenient instrument for protecting powerful
13:30
Speaker 1: individuals from uncomfortable questions. If the department genuinely believes its
13:35
Speaker 1: conduct has been proper and its investigative conclusions can withstand
13:40
Speaker 1: independent examination, then it should stop hiding behind its own
13:44
Speaker 1: authority and appoint somebody capable of conducting that examination without
13:48
Speaker 1: political obligations to anyone involved. If the people making these
13:53
Speaker 1: decisions refuse to do that, then they should at least
13:55
Speaker 1: have the fucking decency to stop insulting our intelligence with
13:58
Speaker 1: lectures about transparency, integrity, and their supposedly unwavering commitment to
14:04
Speaker 1: the rule of law. Because I am sick to death
14:07
Speaker 1: of paying for a Department of Justice... that demands absolute
14:10
Speaker 1: obedience from ordinary Americans, while apparently believing that the people
14:15
Speaker 1: running the goddamn government are entitled to absolute protection from
14:18
Speaker 1: the very scrutiny the rest of us would never be
14:21
Speaker 1: allowed to escape. And perhaps the most disgusting part of
14:25
Speaker 1: this entire rotten spectacle is that somewhere inside the federal
14:28
Speaker 1: government's mountain of Epstein evidence, there may still be answers
14:32
Speaker 1: that could expose criminal conduct, institutional corruption, or the deliberate
14:36
Speaker 1: protection of people who should have been standing in front
14:39
Speaker 1: of a judge years ago. But instead of pursuing those
14:42
Speaker 1: answers with every resource available to them, the cowards running
14:46
Speaker 1: the Department of Justice have decided that the American people
14:49
Speaker 1: should simply shut their mouths, accept their conclusions, and stop
14:53
Speaker 1: asking so many goddamn questions. Well, here's a question for
14:56
Speaker 1: Todd Blanche and every other spineless bureaucrat participating in this disgrace.
15:02
Speaker 1: If you're so fucking confident that there's nothing left to investigate...
15:05
Speaker 1: Why are you so terrified of letting somebody independent prove
15:08
Speaker 1: you right? Why is protecting the department from scrutiny suddenly
15:12
Speaker 1: more important than establishing the full truth about one of
15:15
Speaker 1: the most notorious sex trafficking operations in American history? Why
15:19
Speaker 1: should anybody believe your declarations of innocence, integrity, and transparency
15:25
Speaker 1: when you fight so goddamn hard against the very process
15:27
Speaker 1: that could substantiate them? You can call it prosecutorial discretion,
15:33
Speaker 1: institutional independence, or whatever other polished piece of bureaucratic bullshit
15:37
Speaker 1: your public relations department dreams up. But none of those
15:41
Speaker 1: fancy explanations changes the fact that you're refusing an opportunity
15:45
Speaker 1: to subject your conduct to meaningful independent examination. And while
15:49
Speaker 1: you sit in your comfortable offices drawing your taxpayer-funded salaries
15:54
Speaker 1: and congratulating yourselves for surviving another round of congressional criticism...
15:58
Speaker 1: the people whose lives were devastated by Epstein's operation, are
16:02
Speaker 1: left wondering whether the powerful individuals who escaped accountability will
16:06
Speaker 1: ever be forced to answer for their actions. That's the
16:10
Speaker 1: legacy you're building, not one of justice, not one of integrity,
16:14
Speaker 1: but one of an institution so consumed with defending its
16:17
Speaker 1: own authority that it's seemingly forgotten who gave it that
16:20
Speaker 1: authority in the first place. So spare me the fucking
16:23
Speaker 1: speeches about the rule of law, spare me the American
16:26
Speaker 1: flags positioned behind every carefully rehearsed press conference? And spare
16:31
Speaker 1: me the insulting suggestion that demanding accountability somehow makes the
16:35
Speaker 1: rest of us unreasonable. Because when the government refuses to
16:39
Speaker 1: let an independent investigator examine the evidence, the question is
16:43
Speaker 1: no longer just what Epstein and his associates were hiding,
16:47
Speaker 1: but what the people we pay to investigate them are
16:50
Speaker 1: so goddamn determined to keep us from finding out. All
16:53
Speaker 1: of the information that goes with this episode can be
16:56
Speaker 1: found in the description box.
