- 0:00Speaker 1: Time for Stacks and Hacks, you guys. Stacks and Hacks.
- 0:02Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 0:04Speaker 3: A man on TikTok is complaining because Walmart's dynamic pricing
- 0:09Speaker 3: raised the price of butter between the time he picked
- 0:13Speaker 3: it up and walked to the checkout.
- 0:14Speaker 2: What?
- 0:16Speaker 1: Yeah. So he called the manager over and they said
- 0:18Speaker 1: it's normal. Here's what happened.
- 0:20Speaker 4: I grabbed my stuff and I'm very aware of prices
- 0:23Speaker 4: because of how high stuff is. And I go to checkout.
- 0:27Speaker 1: My prices are higher.
- 0:28Speaker 4: So I call the manager over and he comes over
- 0:32Speaker 4: and he says, the prices can change from the time
- 0:35Speaker 4: you leave the area to the time you get to
- 0:37Speaker 4: the register because the computer updates.
- 0:40Speaker 1: And I'm like, no, no, no, no.
- 0:41Speaker 4: You can't tell me that if I pick up an
- 0:43Speaker 4: item that's $ 3. 98, by the time I walk to the register,
- 0:47Speaker 4: which is less than two minutes, is this what we're doing, Walmart?
- 0:51Speaker 1: Like, are we serious? Yeah, that's maddening.
- 0:54Speaker 5: Walmart makes enough money. Like don't nickel and dime your customers.
- 0:58Speaker 1: That's insane.
- 1:00Speaker 3: There's now another bizarre debate going viral. Are coffee shops
- 1:04Speaker 3: open early enough? Some people are hating on coffee shops
- 1:07Speaker 3: for being closed on the way to work. But small
- 1:11Speaker 3: shop baristas say no one shows up that early and
- 1:13Speaker 3: debate is going viral on TikTok.
- 1:14Speaker 6: I'm so confused because I need a coffee shop to
- 1:17Speaker 6: explain to me why you're open at 9 a.m. You
- 1:21Speaker 6: know who wants to get coffee? People who are tired.
- 1:24Speaker 7: You know who's tired?
- 1:26Speaker 2: People up before 9 a.m.
- 1:28Speaker 4: Amen.
- 1:29Speaker 6: Because they have to get to their 9 a.m.
- 1:31Speaker 8: Job.
- 1:32Speaker 3: Yeah, but you can go to Starbucks or Dutch Bros,
- 1:34Speaker 3: but we want to go to the normal mom and
- 1:36Speaker 3: pop ones, the fun ones.
- 1:37Speaker 1: They're not open.
- 1:37Speaker 8: But usually those are kind of for like... you to
- 1:40Speaker 8: sit down and work and kind of enjoy the vibe there.
- 1:43Speaker 8: Like I get it, but then again, it's like their
- 1:45Speaker 8: mom and pop, like give them a break.
- 1:47Speaker 2: You want my business 4am. That's when you got to open.
- 1:49Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 1:50Speaker 5: Maybe they can't find employees to work that early.
- 1:52Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:53Speaker 2: That's possible too.
- 1:54Speaker 1: Have you guys seen the remote control Uber Eats delivery robots?
- 1:56Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:57Speaker 8: Right.
- 1:57Speaker 6: Right.
- 1:58Speaker 5: They're so cute.
- 2:00Speaker 3: So this woman had a confrontation with Uber Eats delivery robot.
- 2:05Speaker 3: She blocked the robot's path and got in trouble. And
- 2:09Speaker 3: here's her problem.
- 2:10Speaker 1: I know that.
- 2:11Speaker 6: They're taking the jobs of human delivery workers. And so
- 2:16Speaker 6: I have been protesting them whenever I saw them by
- 2:19Speaker 6: standing in front of them and preventing them from going forward.
- 2:24Speaker 2: I think it's my.
- 2:24Speaker 6: First Amendment right to publicly demonstrate on a public sidewalk
- 2:29Speaker 6: my protest against delivery robots.
- 2:33Speaker 1: Interesting. You know, it brings this.
- 2:35Speaker 3: So you know how there's all this problem with people
- 2:37Speaker 3: in Hollywood upset with AI and AI music and AI
- 2:40Speaker 3: movies and AI actresses, right?
- 2:42Speaker 1: Do you guys ever remember the movie called Tron?
- 2:44Speaker 4: Of course.
- 2:45Speaker 3: It came out in 1982. It's called Tron. They've done
- 2:47Speaker 3: a bunch of sequels and spinoffs and prequels and remakes, right?
- 2:50Speaker 2: It's a tad dated now.
- 2:51Speaker 3: In 1982, it was not nominated for visual effects because
- 2:56Speaker 3: the Academy felt the producers cheated because they used computers.
- 3:00Speaker 8: Oh.
- 3:01Speaker 1: So back then.
- 3:02Speaker 3: So it's like at some point you have to accept
- 3:04Speaker 3: the technology because now everybody uses computers, right?
- 3:08Speaker 1: So they wouldn't let it happen.
- 3:09Speaker 2: Toy Story was the first computer done movie, right?
- 3:12Speaker 5: Well, I feel like the best argument or best suggestion
- 3:15Speaker 5: that I've heard for that is just give AI its
- 3:17Speaker 5: own category.
- 3:18Speaker 2: You know what I mean?
- 3:19Speaker 5: Like if people are going to use it, just categorize
- 3:21Speaker 5: it differently.
- 3:22Speaker 3: You guys have also seen the failed attempts to use
- 3:25Speaker 3: drones to sneak contraband into prisons.
- 3:27Speaker 1: You've seen that come up in the news. Sometimes it works.
- 3:30Speaker 3: In Canada- Jerome was able to deliver McDonald's McNuggets, fries,
- 3:34Speaker 3: and dipping sauce, and even some alcohol to an inmate
- 3:37Speaker 3: at a correctional facility in Quebec.
- 3:39Speaker 2: The nugs are that good.
- 3:40Speaker 1: It's okay, it's McDonald's.
- 3:42Speaker 6: Don't shoot.
- 3:43Speaker 1: Don't shoot. Also, whatever happened to having people over for dinner?
- 3:48Speaker 3: In 1975, 42% of the people say, well, host friends
- 3:51Speaker 3: and family at least once a month.
- 3:54Speaker 1: Now it's only 12%. Only 12%. Remember that?
- 3:56Speaker 2: We got company coming over.
- 3:58Speaker 4: Company.
- 3:59Speaker 8: I will say, since I've been in my book club
- 4:01Speaker 8: once a month, Me and all my girlfriends get together
- 4:03Speaker 8: and we have dinner at someone's house and it has
- 4:05Speaker 8: been such a good time and like so intentional and
- 4:08Speaker 8: we get to have so much fun with like doing
- 4:10Speaker 8: the themes. Highly recommend. We should bring that back.
- 4:12Speaker 1: Oh, my God.
- 4:14Speaker 2: You're making John John sweat.
- 4:15Speaker 8: We're going to have our book club at your house
- 4:18Speaker 8: this next month, John John.
- 4:19Speaker 3: My wife has Mahjong at my house every once in
- 4:21Speaker 3: a while.
- 4:21Speaker 8: We're reading Wuthering Heights.
- 4:22Speaker 3: We're having a big debate. I'm trying to not have
- 4:24Speaker 3: anybody over for Thanksgiving. I'm trying to do it somewhere else.
- 4:27Speaker 2: What is Thanksgiving?
- 4:29Speaker 1: There's 27 people on the list right now.
- 4:30Speaker 2: That's too many people. That's a lot of people. That
- 4:33Speaker 2: sounds fun, though. Be responsible for it, too. Just do
- 4:36Speaker 2: potluck style. I'm not responsible for it.
- 4:38Speaker 8: No.
- 4:38Speaker 5: I know you hate potlucks, but when it's your family, Peyton.
- 4:41Speaker 2: I.
- 4:42Speaker 8: Literally just saw this article of, like, I think it was, like,
- 4:46Speaker 8: a bunch of people that worked at Walmart that did
- 4:48Speaker 8: a company potluck, and they all got, like, super, super
- 4:50Speaker 8: sick that they had to shut down the store because.
- 4:52Speaker 2: No one could work.
- 4:52Speaker 1: Yeah, work potluck, family potluck is different.
- 4:54Speaker 2: Yeah, family potluck. I don't trust them either.
- 4:56Speaker 3: My wife and my mother-in-law would do all the cooking,
- 4:58Speaker 3: but I was trying to have it set somewhere else,
- 5:00Speaker 3: and then it backfired completely.
- 5:02Speaker 1: That's a whole other story. What do you got for
- 5:03Speaker 1: life next week?
- 5:03Speaker 2: Like a brewery or something? That's a good idea.
- 5:05Speaker 7: All right, so this is going to save you guys.
- 5:07Speaker 7: I didn't know about this trick, but... If you want
- 5:09Speaker 7: to keep ghosts out of your house, there's a simple trick.
- 5:13Speaker 7: And it is 200 years old. It's from the south.
- 5:16Speaker 7: It is painting your porch ceiling light blue. They call
- 5:20Speaker 7: it paint blue, like paint with an H.
- 5:23Speaker 2: Paint blue.
- 5:24Speaker 7: The old belief was that the ghosts couldn't cross water.
- 5:27Speaker 7: So people paint their porch ceilings blue. to trick the
- 5:31Speaker 7: ghost into thinking that they were looking at water. Some
- 5:33Speaker 7: people even claim it keeps away wasps too, like the bugs.
- 5:37Speaker 8: Wasps.
- 5:38Speaker 1: Ghosts are pretty stupid. There's water up in the air.
- 5:42Speaker 1: I can't go that way.
- 5:43Speaker 7: I mean, I'd rather have ghosts than a wasp. I
- 5:45Speaker 7: think wasps are, they're the.
- 5:47Speaker 2: Jerkiest bugs in the world.
- 5:48Speaker 7: They are pretty mean.
- 5:49Speaker 2: So that life hack. Anybody more can be found at johnjainrich.com.
