Latest / Elon Musk Podcast / Donald Trump Back on Twitter according to Elon Musk
Transcript
- 0:01President, Donald Trump was kicked off Twitter due to
- 0:05Breaking some rules of the platform.
- 0:07At that time, he has a permanent suspension from the platform and
- 0:12Elon Musk had something to say about this, just recently in an
- 0:17interview, but before we get into elon's stuff, let's talk
- 0:22about why Donald Trump was kicked off Twitter, and then
- 0:25we'll get into. Why Elon Musk, thanks?
- 0:30A different way than what the current administration of
- 0:33Twitter. Thank and this is a, it's going
- 0:37to be a sticky subject for a lot of people.
- 0:38A lot of people get really emotional about this stuff.
- 0:42So if you don't want to hear about Donald Trump, I suggest
- 0:46turning it off. A lot of people get very upset,
- 0:48so I don't care about ad revenue from this podcast.
- 0:52If you, if it makes you upset, just don't listen to it.
- 0:55It's pretty easy, but it's a good thing to listen to where
- 0:59Elon is going to be when he takes over Twitter, if he gets
- 1:04through with the sale. So all these things that Elon
- 1:08says in the future could happen, it all depends on if the sale
- 1:12goes through. So I'm just going to preface it
- 1:15with that. And let's also talk about why
- 1:18Donald Trump was kicked off Twitter in the first place
- 1:22January Eighth as a Friday of 2021 Twitter.
- 1:29Put out a statement in the statement reads after close
- 1:33review of recent tweets from at real Donald Trump account.
- 1:36In the context around them, specifically how they are being
- 1:39received and interpreted on. And off Twitter, we have
- 1:42permanently suspended the account due to the risk of
- 1:45further incitement of violence, in the context of horrific
- 1:50events this week, we made it clear on Wednesday that
- 1:53additional violations of the Twitter were girls.
- 1:56Rules would potentially result in the Free this very course of
- 1:59action. Our public interest framework
- 2:02exists to enable the public to hear from elected officials and
- 2:06world leaders directly is built on a principle that the people
- 2:09have a right to hold power to account in the open.
- 2:15So, this is what happened. This is the overview from
- 2:19Twitter. They say on January 8th 2021
- 2:22President. Donald J.
- 2:23Trump tweeted the 75 million people, Great American Patriots,
- 2:28who voted for me, America first and make America great.
- 2:31Again, we'll have a great giant voice long into the future.
- 2:35There will not be disrespectful but disrespected or treated
- 2:39unfairly in any way, shape or form shortly thereafter.
- 2:43The president tweeted, to all those who have asked, I will not
- 2:46be going to the inauguration on, January 20th and the spent from
- 2:51Twitter says we assessed the two tweets referenced above under
- 2:57our glorification of violence policy, which aims to prevent
- 3:02the glorification of violence that could Inspire others to
- 3:05replicate violent acts and determine that they were highly
- 3:09likely to encourage and inspire people to replicate the criminal
- 3:13acts that took place at the US Capitol on January, 6th, 2021,
- 3:20So that is Twitter stand on everything.
- 3:22They kicked President Donald Trump off the platform for
- 3:27basically inciting violence. Whether you like the guy, you
- 3:31don't like the guy that's up to you.
- 3:34So let's talk about what Ilan had to say about this.
- 3:37Because I think going forward with the Twitter platform.
- 3:40We all have to take this into consideration, would we stay on
- 3:43the platform? If Ilan does something that we
- 3:47don't like, or Would we stay on there and kind of put our voice?
- 3:52Make our voices be heard, right? So that's that's the kind of
- 3:57kind of idea here. So Ilan had an interview with
- 4:00the financial times. Recently, any stated that he
- 4:05would allow former US President, Donald Trump to return to
- 4:09Twitter if he goes through with this forty four billion dollar
- 4:13deal. And the the comments that he
- 4:19made the kind of being misconstrued a little bit.
- 4:25So he the comments were that he would basically allow Trump back
- 4:30on but there will be limits. So I'm going to read you what
- 4:35must cantus? Say said I think the general
- 4:38question of should Twitter have permanent bands and I'm talk,
- 4:41he's talked with Jack Dorsey about this.
- 4:44And him he and I are of the same mind which is that permanent ban
- 4:49should be extremely rare and really reserved for people who
- 4:52are trying to for accounts that are Bots or spam scam accounts
- 4:58where there's just no legitimacy to the count at all.
- 5:01So basically saying Bots or scammers they get banned, which
- 5:08would be amazing. I don't know how many times
- 5:11you've looked at it. You'll on musk to eat but every
- 5:13Elon Tweet the first comment below.
- 5:17It is a crypto scammer. So, I've seen there's hundreds
- 5:21of those comments throughout or hundreds of replies throughout
- 5:26his tweets. So those people are getting tons
- 5:29and tons of traffic to their scams just from riding the
- 5:32coattails of Elan. All right, so he's saying ban
- 5:36all those people get rid of them while the Bots I should say,
- 5:39they're not people, they're Bots, get rid of them and then
- 5:43that would be the only way. Like that's the only thing that
- 5:45permanent ban, something like that, right?
- 5:47And then he said, I do think that it was not correct to ban
- 5:51Donald Trump. I think that was a mistake
- 5:53because it alienated a large part of the country and did not
- 5:57ultimately result in Donald Trump, not having a voice.
- 6:00He is now going to be on Truth, social as will a large part of
- 6:04the bright in the United States. So I think this could end up
- 6:10being frankly, worse than having a single form, where everyone
- 6:13can debate. So he's saying because Trump has
- 6:17an echo chamber on the right with through social, then he can
- 6:23do whatever he wants to on his own platform, right?
- 6:25So truth, social is part of the president's platform.
- 6:30Do whatever he wants to on there.
- 6:31There's no restrictions for the guy at this point.
- 6:35So Elon says, well, he's over there and other people can't
- 6:39really talk to him because they're all on Twitter, right?
- 6:42So, the Town Square is Twitter and then Donald Trump's doing
- 6:46his own thing on the other side there.
- 6:49And then Yvonne goes on to say, So I think this could end up
- 6:56being frankly, worst have a than having a single Farm where
- 6:59everyone can debate. So I guess the answer is that I
- 7:01would reverse the permanent ban then.
- 7:04He goes on to say, I don't own Twitter yet so this is not like
- 7:07a thing that will definitely happen.
- 7:09Because what if I don't own Twitter, but my opinion and Jack
- 7:13Dorsey, I want to be clear shares, this opinion is that we
- 7:16should not have permanent bands. Now, that doesn't mean that
- 7:20somebody gets to say, whatever they want to say.
- 7:23If they say something that is illegal or otherwise, you know,
- 7:25destructive to the world, then there should perhaps be a
- 7:27timeout, a temporary suspension or that particular tweet should
- 7:31be made invisible or have very limited traction, but I think
- 7:35Perma bands. Just fundamentally undermine.
- 7:37Trust and Twitter is a Town Square where everyone can voice
- 7:40their opinion. I think it was a morally.
- 7:42Bad decision to be clear and foolish in the extreme.
- 7:46So Elon is 100% against banning. Donald Trump Wants him back W
- 7:55unbanned, the account. Now, does this mean that Donald
- 7:57Trump will come back to Twitter? This show is brought to you by

- 11:11If you have a bigger voice on Twitter, then you do on true
- 11:15social, and you can reach more people on Twitter than you can
- 11:18on true social, it would make sense for Donald Trump to, you
- 11:24know, get back into the game over here on Twitter.
- 11:27So, if you have Twitter, has a huge amount of people, huge
- 11:32amount of influence on current Society.
- 11:35This is where everyone gets their news.
- 11:37This is where news breaks, this is where Real Time stuff.
- 11:41Is Twitter, right? It's a trusted platform for
- 11:45journalists and other people who release news information, I use
- 11:50it all the time. I get some news from there.
- 11:52That's where I heard about this and the the fact that Donald
- 11:58Trump can have that audience again just the idea of that
- 12:02scare. Some people completely and
- 12:05utterly and they don't want him back on the platform.
- 12:08So the interviewer SE Lon even after the egg down the crowd,
- 12:13who went to the US Capitol, some of them carrying nooses, you
- 12:16still think it was a mistake to remove him and then Elon says, I
- 12:20think if there are tweets that are wrong in bed, they should be
- 12:23either deleted or made invisible and a suspension.
- 12:26A temporary suspension is appropriate but not a permanent
- 12:29ban. So going back to what he said
- 12:32before the temporary suspension or the deletion of a tweet or
- 12:38making something invisible or does not pushing it up.
- 12:41In the algorithm but not a permanent band.
- 12:44Doesn't want to ban the person so it doesn't make sense in the
- 12:51terms of Twitter. Right now, what Twitter can do,
- 12:54it's a whole different thing. It pushes the pushes the
- 13:00discussion back to before Twitter started, having sort of
- 13:04a moral compass on their own platform.
- 13:07So the interviewer goes on to say, if the deal completes, you
- 13:09might potentially come back on. On with the understanding that
- 13:12if he does something similar again, he'll be back in the Sin
- 13:15bin. Basically asking you like hey if
- 13:19the you know if the ex-president of the United States comes back
- 13:25on he knows what the rules are. Everybody knows what the rules
- 13:28are and if you mess up, you're going to get something to
- 13:32happen. To you musk says he publicly
- 13:35stated that he will not be coming back to Twitter and that
- 13:38he will only be on true social. And this is the point that I'm
- 13:40trying to make which is perhaps not getting across, is a banach
- 13:43trump from Twitter, didn't end Trump's voice we will amplify I
- 13:46hid among the right, this is why it is morally wrong and
- 13:49flat-out, stupid So, morally wrong.
- 13:57Too bad. Somebody permanently from
- 13:58Twitter for inciting violence against the United States
- 14:02Capitol and those people in side the capitol everybody inside you
- 14:09know if you think that's a good reason to ban somebody. or
- 14:15permanently block them or just delete the Tweet, you know,
- 14:20delete all the tweets, but we know, you know, and I know that
- 14:25if You start the process of those tweets.
- 14:31Those tweets get screenshot people.
- 14:35Retweet those screenshots. It goes like wildfire.
- 14:40It goes crazy because there are Bots out there that will
- 14:42screenshot take a picture of the tweet and then post that picture
- 14:47on your timeline, right? And if you have a very loud
- 14:52voice on Twitter, if you're somebody who has millions and
- 14:55millions and millions of views, Per day, you know, there's some
- 14:59accounts like that, then it gets spread around even without
- 15:03Donald Trump. Having the Tweet be available
- 15:09after he tweeted it, you know? If it happens in then a few
- 15:11minutes later it gets banned or it gets deleted.
- 15:15Then it's still going to be out there so I'm not sure.
- 15:18What do you want? Things would happen if he does.
- 15:21Didn't think about that before, he said this but it seems like
- 15:25technology moves so fast in information.
- 15:27Moves so fast on Twitter, that there's no way that that
- 15:30information could be stopped. So I think Alana's little bit
- 15:34short-sighted, Here and I love what elon's doing with Twitter
- 15:37but I think there's there's more to it than just unbanning the
- 15:40guy and you know that's my that's my own opinion.
- 15:44I think there's other ways that that these tweets can be shared
- 15:49and I think there's there's you know the voice of somebody even
- 15:55though they might delete the Tweet, The Voice will still
- 15:58spread in the information will still spread.
- 16:01So I think that's one sort of short-sighted.
- 16:07Piece of this puzzle. But I like the idea that
- 16:10everyone has a voice and this is just me.
- 16:12Voicing my opinion about this, I like that.
- 16:15Everybody has a voice on Twitter, I think that's cool.
- 16:17But also, if you can hurt people, I think you should get
- 16:19deleted. You know, maybe not your whole
- 16:22account at least the tweets. I think this is what they're
- 16:26doing here is sort of a bare-bones approach where you
- 16:31delete the Tweet, you hide the Tweet your temporarily banned
- 16:33somebody. And then when they get backed,
- 16:35you know, when they come back. Online there Like a Phoenix
- 16:38Rising From the Ashes. You know, people people want to
- 16:41see them again, so they missed them.
- 16:43You know? It's like when somebody doesn't
- 16:45post something on YouTube for a while and you're used to a show
- 16:49or like you know your favorite TV show is off for a year
- 16:53because they're filming the episodes, you know.
- 16:56And then you're like oh they're back, you know, it's like a
- 16:58Phoenix Rising From the Ashes again.
- 17:00So when they come back, It could be a Groundswell of support for
- 17:04that person and then the news media Outlets get a hold of it,
- 17:08they spread it around. That person gets more popular,
- 17:11more famous, it could be a, it could be a damaging sort of
- 17:17process here and I don't, you know, I'm a huge supporter of
- 17:22Elon Musk. I think he's doing amazing
- 17:23things. I moved to Brownsville Texas for
- 17:27almost a year because I believe in Starship.
- 17:30I believe in I'm making life multiplanetary.
- 17:34So I moved down here, so I could Chronicle that And I've been
- 17:38doing that for the last year or so, and almost a year and it's
- 17:42been wonderful, and I totally support Elon, but I think this
- 17:45might be a little bit. It might have to rein this in a
- 17:48little bit and figure this out. This might just be a little bit
- 17:50of like, to, too good to be true kind of thing, you know,
- 17:56probably what work the way they want it to work.
- 17:58So, I hope you guys got some information about Elon here, and
- 18:02you got some information about what's going to be happening on
- 18:05Twitter in the future. I want to tell you.
