- Sean Graver: Is there someone on your team who's not pulling their weight? I mean, maybe they never have. Or maybe they used to and something happened over time and now they just kind of checked out. But either way, you know it. Your team knows it. And at some point you probably started carrying part of what they were supposed to be carrying. And the resentment has been building for a while now. Well, welcome back. I'm Sean, and this is Prayer Before Work. So the Apostle Paul writes in Colossians three thirteen, bear with one another, and if one has a complaint against another, forgive each other as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. Now, before you turn this off, I'm not saying the situation's okay. I'm not saying you pretend it isn't happening or that incompetence is just something you just deal with and accept. That's not what this verse is doing. What Paul is addressing is what happens inside of you while you're figuring out the situation. Because here's what is what resentment does when it takes root. It changes you. You become harder or more cynical, ⁓ maybe less generous. Not I mean not towards that person, but ⁓ toward other people. Two. Your frustration might be completely legitimate, but what you do with it is still a choice. So bearing with someone doesn't mean absorbing their failures and making it your problem. If you have the standing to address it, you address it. And you have that honest conversation. You loop in a manager if necessary. You do what the situation actually calls for. But you Do it without letting resentment be your motivation. You don't fuel gossip, you don't let this become what defines your day. And here's the hard part. The standard that Paul holds up is forgiveness before the other person changes. Well, the Lord didn't wait for you to earn it first either. So extend something toward this person that at least looks in that direction. Let's pray. So, Lord, this one's hard because the frustration, it it feels justified. And and I I may not want to let go of it just yet, but I do know what it does to me when I hold on to it. So help me bear with this person in a way that doesn't involve resentment. And give me wisdom about what to do and and and some grace for who they are. I don't want the day to end worse. than how it started. Thank you, Jesus. And it's in your name we pray. Amen. And go make today count.
