- Ted Turner: Welcome in everyone to Dogs Down South. It's our weekly podcast live here with Fish. What's going on, Fish? How are you, buddy? Adam Fisher: What's up man? Doing good. Loving the cool weather. It's going in the right direction. Love it. Ted Turner: We always go to weather, man, but like for real for real, like weather's weather's a thing, dude. It really is, man. Like it Adam Fisher: It it's a thing. It's a thing. Yeah, especially in the south. Ted Turner: it it can take my day from okay to not okay or worse and like the minute of I the minute of eighty nine degrees or I say eighty nine 'cause eighty nine is my feeling like ninety five, man. I mean, you guys are getting like a little bit of a cold spurt, right? Not cold spurt but cool spurt, right, this weekend. some Adam Fisher: Yes. Yeah, pre fall. We're in pre fall right now. Yeah, pre fall is a thing Ted Turner: Cooler temperatures promised? Pre fall. Adam Fisher: up here. Yeah, we get about a week, week and a half of cooler weather and then boom the heat comes back right before fall. Ted Turner: All right. I like pre fall. So that's a that's a cool way to look at it. But either way, man, it it Adam Fisher: No. E even though technically it's actually false. Ted Turner: you're right. You're right. Now I did remember Adam Fisher: Ha ha ha. Ted Turner: I did remember what a couple of days ago we officially hit fall, right? So we can actually like get irritated at the fact that we're not experiencing anything other than hot temperatures. So now the irritation can be legit. So but man, super excited. As always, I kind of ran ran it solo on Monday and did our recap on Arkansas and I like to always start out fish by going, What did you like about the Arkansas game? What did you dislike? Give me your take on in a nutshell what you saw as far as from your end against Arkansas. Adam Fisher: Well, I mean overall, you know, forty six points, you know, that's that's not bad. That's okay. That's still that's still really good. just didn't feel as dominant. And that's you know, that's okay too, because I mean it is a step up in competition, you know, it's actually an SEC team. And you know, like Kirby says, you know, road games in the SEC aren't easy. And we're getting everybody's best shot. Just like this weekend, we're gonna get Oklahoma's best shot. Oklahoma's gonna look better than they have all season Saturday. And we know that. Like we can expect that. Like Georgia's gonna have to show up, play hard. But a little worried about the pass rush. A little bit worried about it. We weren't hitting home much. You know, we're not that's still a problem, I think. I I don't think it's like drastic improvement. I think it's a little improvement, but You know, we've got some guys, but I I I'm still a little worried about our ability to affect the pass r the the the the passer. we're not getting back there fast enough. But overall, you know, happy. Very happy. That's that's my mood after Arkansas. Ted Turner: Yeah, I mean, I went over a little like statistical value and kind of what I think like dog fans might be freaking out about. I mean, you look at Kirby in the first two games of the year, he had so many things that that he could have I mean, he did get kind of pissed off about, to be honest with you. And so this was a little bit different demeanor for him post game. He was pleased. He understood that, you know, going on the road in the SEC, I mean I think you've watched the person the first three weeks of college football and realized that every team is vulnerable depending on how they show up each day. Obviously, when you look at Michigan, you know, Western Michigan, then you look at them take on Oklahoma, which we're gonna address and talk through Oklahoma tonight, but in everybody's opinion, Oklahoma was coming in as huge favorites to the big house. And I think everybody thought Oklahoma would walk away with that victory. And so You know, as you can see, anybody on any given day can get beaten. We've seen some teams even this week, I mean, there were some lackluster performances. You had Missouri who played pretty just average against Troy. I mean, I think we we all talked about we didn't think there'd be a cover there, you know? so you look at you know, you look at Troy and you look at Missouri and you feel like they may be downplayed to Troy. other games that come to mind, I'm trying think of some other games that I mean I felt like I Adam Fisher: South Carolina. Ted Turner: felt like my South Carolina might have been a good one. I thought Miami played pretty down to Wake Forest the other night. I mean, when you look at that score and you look at on paper what was going on, you're like, all right, like Miami's supposed to be just pretty much thumping these guys, right? You look at Oklahoma even this past week. They go, they go they have a home game against New Mexico, and I think the The ugly 14 6 victory. And so I think all in all, like what Kirby's saying is like first SEC road game, a lot of young players still, even though you have the, you know, a lot of returning starters, a lot of the points that were scored in this game were still, once again, on these second, third, four string players. And so, I mean, fish here's my question though, out of out of those, and we're not gonna spend too much time on Arkansas, but Like, do you feel like and when we look at all aspects of the game, which is what? Offense, defense, special teams. If you look at offense, I mean, I'll give you a couple of things that I'll I mean, I know that'll be hot points for you, but if if if you are a team that is very, very successful with the run, if you're averaging 7.1 yards a carry, right? You're in SEC play. You're no longer playing Western Kentucky. You're no longer playing warm-up games for the year. This is SEC play. Why in the world would you do anything other than pound the rock and get out of Arkansas healthy? Agree, disagree? What are your thoughts Adam Fisher: Yeah, I I don't know. Ted Turner: on that? Adam Fisher: I I agree. I can make excuses. I can say maybe you know Bobo wanted to keep keep Gunner sharp, you know, try some things, do some some things, not be one dimensional, you know, even though we may have been dominating, you know, the run game at the time. Which is to be expected. That's what we're supposed to do. But if that part of the game is solid, you know, maybe the passing game isn't as solid. You know, where were the tight ends Saturday? You know? Well I didn't see where were they? You know, they showed up the first two Ted Turner: So you know me I mean Adam Fisher: weeks. I'm sorry, go ahead. Ted Turner: I mean, you know, I mean, people know me and you, Fish. Like, we don't we don't Paul Feinbaum banter against each other on this. So you know this comment is not for you on a rebuttal for you, but I would venture out to say to to to to fans out there that are like where the tight ends, they're they don't need to be used. Like they they didn't need to they didn't need to be used at all. Like we we to be to be fair, we opened up the game and We we were we were hot on Lawson Lucky, probably for a thirty yard hit, and he got PI'd. We decided not to throw to him and we still got a I think it was a positive like fifteen, sixteen yard run from Gunner. So that was a PI. I remember, I mean, we we caught Lawson across the middle. one big time across the middle. we had some targets to Jaden Ridd the end zone and things of that nature. Those were PIs. They were called. So I think we targeted them, but like How many I mean not you, but how many times do we want to actually like like what do you what are what are we how many times do we want to actually like throw the football to not like and to me it's like y why do you gotta put it on film? I mean, I think you have more to lose when this game is is in hand by showing Oklahoma. Now, this week, everything's on the table. There's not gonna be a play, a defense, a stunt, a blocking scheme, anything that's gonna be held out of the play. Like it's not. Adam Fisher: Yeah. Ted Turner: Like I would you agree? Adam Fisher: No, I agree. Yeah, they're gonna leave it all out there. Well, depending on how the game goes, you know, how the flow of the game is, whether we need to or not. But yeah, yeah, like you know, Ted Turner: Right. Right. Adam Fisher: no holes barred. Ted Turner: And so like I'm not disagreeing with you, but I know me and you have have experienced for years, I mean, we've been those fans, right? But there are fans that are a little even more overboard. I I go on the boards very small amount of time on Saturdays because I've said this before. some of the caretakers in this in this country need to take some of these guys' phones away from them during the game because they say some stupid stuff, man, like I mean, like I that's why we need Stetson Bennett back. First off, brother, Stetson Bennett has no eligibility left. Now, he could file for his sixth or seventh year like Trinidad Chamlist did, but he decided to go to the NFL and put his money where his mouth was. But like it's just ridiculous. Like like right, like what are we doing on on on the on the offensive line? Just I mean, why why aren't we getting the receivers involved? The receivers were involved. I don't know if you know this, but Craig Dandridge right now is has eclipsed one of the best receivers to come through Georgia in the last ten or fifteen years. he's eclipsed those, he's right on track or or a little above those numbers right now. Craig Dandridge is start has has a very hot start to the season. Adam Fisher: Yeah, it does. Ted Turner: George Pickens put those numbers up. And I don't know if anybody knows what George Pickens has done since he went to the NFL. Yes, he's been to a few teams. Yes, he's experienced some things that have not been, in my opinion, about his play, but more about his attitude and his mouth. But and we knew Adam Fisher: That's what it is. Ted Turner: that come out of Georgia, but like but like man, look, th some numbers are being put up by Craig Danders that are very close to what his were. I'm sorry, I used actually used the wrong person. I am sorry, I just George Pickens is on my mind. Actually these were AJ Green numbers that came up that I saw. So these are if Adam Fisher: well, that's even better. Ted Turner: we go back and look let's go ahead, Fish. Adam Fisher: No, I was just saying that's even better. You know, AJ Green. Ted Turner: Yeah. So like so I feel like I feel like it's happening. Let's hop over the defense though, because we don't want to spend too much time on Arkansas. But but same way with the defense. When you look at the defense, I'll give you one obstacle. You named the pass rush, right? The one thing I do think we did very well was we had a game plan. Now a lot of people are like, What was the secondary doing? Now, there's a couple plays that I could point to that I'm like, man. There were a couple of busts, right? Damelo Jones had a couple of busts. I don't think this is anything athleticism-wise. There was a couple of, but the whole plan was is probably the good news for Georgia fans is the same plan that happened last week will be happening this week. The the plan was they saw everything on tape they needed. They said, look, can we make this quarterback, KJ Jackson, right? Am I getting it right? KJ Jackson? Can we make him beat us over the top? We'll give him every dump and dink he wants. But if they can't drive the length of the field on us and and win, we're fine with that. But you're gonna have to make the tough throw and you're gonna have to bust the run. And they're gonna do the same thing to John Matir because right now they look on tape and they go, John Mateer has not been able to prove to us that he can beat us in the passing game. At least with at least as far as explosives, right? So defense wise, when you talk about like what we were able to we were giving them short passes. So I agree with you on one take fish. That we definitely I mean, Kirby knows this. It's still a it's still something that's very relevant. We gotta get to the quarterback. We did get to him three times, but we had to bring we had to bring people, right? Adam Fisher: Yep. Yeah. Yeah. Need to get back there with need need to get back there with three or four, you know. So we can drop seven. You know, that's that's the dream. You know, and you know, all Ted Turner: Yes. Adam Fisher: on that note, you know, we won a national championship with a subpar pass rush. Because we were dominant at everything Ted Turner: Mm. Adam Fisher: else. You know, and Ted Turner: Mm. Adam Fisher: the defense could be like that again, you know, contain the quarterback, you know, not give up, you know, any wild crazy you know, QB runs to the mobile, you know, quarterbacks that we have in the SEC this year. And, you know, like you said, just if you can't drive the length of the field on us, then I mean, I'm happy, right? I mean, if we're not sacking the quarterback eight times a game, okay. You know, but if we're winning every game by fourteen, seventeen, twenty one points, yeah, man, let's go. Ted Turner: Yeah, I agree. Well, we can put Arkansas to bed. I mean, we we've I mean, I I personally will tell you I'm I'm okay with thirty-eight to three and the and the third string taking over and allowing a few touchdowns. It doesn't look as dominant at forty-five seventeen, but it's in the books. It's a victory. but I want to open up tonight. We know we got a little game plan. Obviously, we are going to preview Oklahoma in depth. we're gonna talk Got injury reports. We're gonna talk a lot of things, Oklahoma, but and we're also gonna do our picks. But but fish, I thought we could kind of break the ice with this. As we're talking about Arkansas and we're talking about just the SEC in general and kind of how our fans have been a little bit like, Man, was this what they really wanted to see come out of Arkansas? I thought I'd pose a question tonight as a icebreaker. you know, going into this weekend, we're gonna pick a lot of these games, all these games actually, but you have two interesting, you have two SEC teams. That are playing against each other that have 45 to 50 plus million dollar rosters who will leave this weekend. It is a unless there is a rain out and no game is played, it is a hundred percent proven fact they will leave this weekend 0 2. And that team is Texas AM or LSU. So I thought it would be cool to kind of talk about a couple of pretenders and contenders that we've seen so far in three or four games. First off, we obviously watched the Ole Miss game. We obviously watched the LSU. Like, what does that say for NIL right now? Like, there's two teams that are going to be 0 2 and have a really daunting climb to make the SEC championship and possibly, you know, get to a point with so many. I mean, it's a nine game SEC slate to get to a playoff berth. How big is it for LSU or Texas AM to win this weekend, Fish? Adam Fisher: It's huge. It's everything. Ole Lane better hope, you know, that he can get that W or else, you know, it's gonna be a very long rest of the season for him. A lot of fingers being pointed. 'cause that team, yeah, you don't it just goes to show you, man, that you don't necessarily need to spend like if you've got good coaching and a good foundation and a good culture, then you don't have to spend fifty million dollars. You don't have to buy a championship, 'cause that's essentially what they're doing. You know, there's a lot of other teams that are having much better seasons that look a lot better so far this year that spent mil like tens of million dollars less than them. And that's amazing. You know, and I think that comes down to culture and coaching, man. Like, you know, O'Lane and Sark and Levy, you know, I like Levy, but he's he and and I and I and I kinda shoot myself in the foot here. Last week I said how much I liked their quarterback, AM's quarterback, and then he went out Aaron. Let me down, you know, 'cause I know I picked him to cover last week against Kentucky. Ted Turner: Mm-hmm. Adam Fisher: I know I did. and I regret that. And I hope I didn't lose any credibility with our fans. So Ted Turner: Ha ha ha. Adam Fisher: but yeah, it's it's amazing, dude. It's funny. Ted Turner: You know, it it it kind of makes you think though, Fish, like, Yes, I mean, going and getting players and making sure that you are I guess I guess a Georgia term would be elite, but making sure that you are competitive in all areas of your team is very, very important. But is NIL taking over has NIL taken over the developmental role? in college football, the teaching, the coaching, the the situational football, the classroom stuff. Like, you know, you got a lot of these kids that are like barely going to class, but, you know, are they in the classroom, you know, in the football complex? Are they are they learning football, they're being taught football or or is it just about, you know, wins and losses? I mean, and it's hard because you can question you can you can question that as a an answer it with a no. I mean When you when you look at some of these teams and you look at the even the result of that LSU Ole Miss game, I mean, it could have gone either way. I mean, I think we both can say it the same way is you know, Ole Miss hopping on LSU early was was almost it was daunting to them, right? You knew LSU was not gonna roll over, you knew Lane Kiffin was gonna find a way to make it interesting, but at the end of the day, like it was just short, right? But but also like what what does it say for the grit and the camaraderie together and the and the will to go and win those games. In my opinion, if I have and I don't regret these words because I really think it's true. Sometimes you just don't get the good end of the straw, you know? But I think a Kirby smart team right now, who has kids that have that are the the goal is to sustain the program, keep them in the program, keep them learning, let them understand that and show the proof that there's a shot to play, no matter how long you wait, right? And we've shown it only takes one year. to get you on film and to get you a solid take. And it's a really good conversation to have with NFL scouts to go, why'd you stay at Georgia so long? Because I believed in my development. I believed that there was coaches that were that were buying into what I was what I was about and who I could be and wanted to get the best out of me. And I I put my head down, I grinded it out and I didn't give up. And I I mean those stores I'm just hearing that as if I'm an NFL scout, I'm like, wait a minute, wait a minute. This guy might want to be a whatever, an LA Ram for life, an Atlanta Falcon who we need some lifers as an Atlanta. We need some we need some lifers as a Bucks fan too, man. So I can't even say much at all on that. But but Adam Fisher: my God. Well well. Ted Turner: it's but what does that say fish for a Kirby Smart team that could get into some trench trenches type things this year and to look at LSU and go, all I could think the other night on that last drive was this is going to be a test of them because this is a very, very like ungelled roster and they gotta go and they gotta not only score but they gotta get two and then they gotta go and then they gotta they gotta win in overtime, I guess, right? I Adam Fisher: Yeah, yeah. Ted Turner: I personally thought maybe this couldn't happen. What about you? Adam Fisher: Well, I was sitting there with my jaw on the on the on the floor watching that game, watch especially the first half, dude. Like I was shocked. but you know, there's something to be said about development and you know riding it out, you know, and camaraderie and you know certain types of players go after certain types of money. You know, and there's a lot of players out there that wanna develop and they wanna get better and they wanna get it, you know improve their chances and make the most out of their opportunity to make it to the NFL. And then Ted Turner: Mm. Adam Fisher: there's other kids that think they're already good enough. You know, that want to go somewhere for a year, leave, bounce, go to another school for another year, or whatever the case may be, like they don't need to develop. And you're right, like at the end of that game, man, you know, the old miss guys are sitting there looking to the left and right at the guy to the left and right of them. And they're like, they know what to expect. They know what they're gonna get out of each other. Ted Turner: Mm-hmm. Adam Fisher: And the guys on the LSU sideline are looking to the left and right, like, man, I don't know what this dude's gonna do. Like, I don't know how this man's gonna act under pressure. You know, is he gonna crack? Can I trust him? You know? But and so I'm not saying there's a right and wrong way to do things. I'm just saying I'm glad Kirby's our coach and I'm glad he does it the way he does it. Ted Turner: You said it last week. Yeah. You said that last week and I thought that was a very a very good comment. I think people don't understand enough that like I think it's huge. And I think it will show this year at some point in time, it will show this year that when you look at rosters and you look at the complexity and the challenges of NIL, it will show at some point there's a nine game SEC schedule. And I know we're gonna repeat that a lot throughout the year. But it's it's not a it's not a a hundred yard dash. This is a this is a four hundred meter almost relay because I can see I can see heroes from the first three games being different heroes from the next three. There's gonna have to be team stability. There's gonna have to be an interception here, a big run here, a g a big stop or a sack here. There's gonna have to be teams that are relying on all facets of their of their roster. to make plays this year in in hostile environments at home when you're supposed to win with pressure. So I mean speaking of that, let's let's talk through a couple of these teams. I mean it I think it'd be fun before we got into the meat and potatoes, as you like to say I call it all the time. I don't realize I do it. But Adam Fisher: There go. Ted Turner: like I'll give you a couple for it. Let's let's let's just put let's put pretender or contender on top of them, right? So I'll start out I'll start out with Texas C and right? Texas C and gets beat by Kentucky like What do you think? I mean, do you think Texas A and is a pretender or do you think they're a contender this year, Fish? Adam Fisher: Through the first three games and the way they looked Saturday at home, pretender. Ted Turner: Mm-mm. Yeah. Adam Fisher: They they let themselves down, they let their fans down. That was an ugly game. And you know, what do we know about Kentucky? You know, I can't wait to watch them, you know, over the course of the next few weeks, man, to see if they're for real or not. Like was that just a fluke? Did A and not show up? You know, did they think they had it in the bag and they could just, you know, come out there and cakewalk through it? You know, Ted Turner: Mm. Adam Fisher: was that first half against Bama? You know, something? Did they really just for some reason just quit in the second half? You know, they thought they had it won. You know, who knows? That's that's that's something I'm willing I'm gonna keep an eye on. but yeah, A and so far, pretender man. Ted Turner: Yeah. Yeah, I think we've been duped. I think we've been duped. I I had a feeling you just came out and you thought Marcel Reed, you thought all this money they spend on these receivers, they go out and they get they they pull the kid from Alabama over, you know, at wide receiver. You know, you have I mean just the the you know the defense is gonna gonna need some work, the offensive line getting kind of re readjust. They lost a lot. They're playing a tougher schedule this year than they did last year as well. Isaiah Horton's his name from Alabama. So you look at Mario Krabers, you look at Horton, and you look at all this and you see all this, and they ran the ball really well. I thought you got a first year op offensive coordinator who I thought, in my humble opinion, I thought that they I don't know if it was the right call. Like I I don't know if this this the new OC that they went and got after Colin Klein was the right call. Defensive coordinator. It to me, I think this is a this is a duped year. It's Texas A and it's a twelfth man. you know, they They went out and they may experience some of the things that L S U and some of these other teams may experience with a team that's been put together that's that had to go very heavy portal wise. so I think we've been duped. I think I think they're a pretender all the way. Mississippi State. We just talked about Mississippi State. I'll hop in on Mississippi State first. I think Mississippi Mississippi State is a hundred percent a contender. And let me tell you why. It's not because it's not because of the offense. It's not because of the passing numbers they're going to put up this year. It's because of the elephant in the room that has kept Jeff Levy from being successful the past three years. And that's the defense. The defense looked a ton better. And you don't have to be this locked down, you know, defense that's only allowing, you know, less than a hundred yards and two hundred yards a game. You just gotta not allow five and six hundred yards a game and fifty points that you got to and Adam Fisher: Ha ha ha. Ted Turner: Zach Arnett is I think he's proven At least in the first three or four games that that's not gonna be the case this year, right? And then Comario Taylor. I mean, you you definitely have the athletes and so I think Mississippi State is definitely a contender this year. I mean, they're fishing to hit some games where they're definitely gonna be tested. What do you think, Fish? What do you think about Mississippi State? Adam Fisher: Yeah, I'm on the bandwagon so far, so good. I actually watched the South Carolina Mississippi State game this this afternoon on my break. went fast forwarded to some to some highlights. but yeah man, they look good. They were down early, you know, but you know, by the fourth quarter the game was pretty much, you know, well in hand. and they looked good. Quarterback looked really good. Anthony Evans. Whew, I wish he was still at Georgia, man. That cat looked really good. Ted Turner: Yeah. Yeah. I admitted I I I I I glitched a little bit. What was what did you say? The name? Adam Fisher: Anthony Evans. Ted Turner: Anthony Evans, man, yeah, I agree. I thought that's what I heard. I just want to make sure. Yeah, man, looks great. And he's in an offense that I think he flourishes a little more than he was at Georgia. So a lot of people are like, man, can't believe we lost him. Of course we can't believe we lost Anthony Evans, but also Anthony Evans he liked the opportunity to go to a team that is going to throw the ball about fifty times a game. And so his I mean, yes, I mean, there was parts of him that go, I want to go, you know, I want to be a part of a great program. And I think he looks at it and goes, the SEC is a great conference. I'm gonna get the ball thrown to me a lot. There should be no reason why there's not enough tape on me to go and, you know, be a professional, you know, athlete in in in football in the NFL and have the opportunity. And that's totally his prerogative. I wish him the best, but he does look good in this offense. Adam Fisher: Yeah. He does. Ted Turner: He looks he looks elite. the last one I would ask is this one's this one's gonna be controversial because I I don't really know. Like we've it's kind of like who they play, but Florida, like this is a tough one for me. Like, Contender or pretender. I will tell you this right now, and I don't know if I don't know if our visitors, I mean our visitors, our listeners know this, but Florida right now is favored in the swamp this this Saturday against Ole Miss. they they obviously go Right, right? Adam Fisher: Yeah. Did you hear Summerall? He like, What kind of drugs are y'all on? That's what he said to the people. Ted Turner: So it's like what what do you I mean I'll give you I'll just go raw take. What pretender, contender with Florida? What do you think? Adam Fisher: Who knows, man? Ted Turner: I you you feel like they hadn't played anybody? Adam Fisher: I think I think they're I think they're legit. I think they're gonna give everybody Ted Turner: Okay. Adam Fisher: a really good game. I think they could win. They're gonna have a chance to win every game they play. And that's hard for me to say about a Florida scene. Ted Turner: I I agree with you, but but only because of that offense. I think the defense is still not there yet. I don't think they've and they may I mean to each their own, I think the offense is leap years ahead of the defense, and I think you're gonna have to score with Florida this year because Buster Faulkner's offense looks really good and Aaron Philo knows that offense. It's it's definitely putting a lot of What I say, it's put a lot of really good playmakers that Billy Napier couldn't figure out how to use and getting them the ball. And then, by the way, there's a Heisman candidate, in my opinion, there's a Heisman candidate in the backfield right now with Jaden Baugh. He looks incredible, man. He looks Adam Fisher: That running back. Yeah. He does. Ted Turner: absolutely incredible. And so I'm I listen, I'm coming around. I got Florida as a as a contender, man. Only because I feel like this offense, you're gonna have to score with them. You're gonna have to score with them to beat them. That's a lot of teams in the SEC. I think Mississippi State, you're gonna have to score with them. I think Florida, you're gonna have to score with them. I also will tell you that I'm coming around to the fact that you're gonna have to score with Alabama. And that's a whole other topic. That's my last one tonight. What about Alabama? I know we we are weeks away from listen, Alabama week is is a weird week, man, when we as we cover it, as we talk through it, as we do stuff, as we not wear the same hat as we don't say the wrong words or flip a coin or but like I I feel like you're starting to see Alabama's offense and they're you know, I I th I was really high on the defense early in the year for Alabama, but I'm seeing them start to come to life on the offense. what do you think about Alabama? Contender or pretender, fish? Adam Fisher: I'm gonna say pretender because of d this coaching and Debore and I just think they've looked suspect. I think Florida State is a horrible team. And I think if the weather delay hadn't happened, I think Florida State beats Alabama last week. I think the weather delay saved Ted Turner: Yeah, I agree with that. I agree with that. Adam Fisher: them. Ted Turner: I agree with that. Adam Fisher: I I I just I th I don't I don't believe it. I don't believe it. Ted Turner: I mean, it's hard, right? 'Cause I I had I mean I'm I've I d I I put out my power rankings Monday night and I'm it's week to week and I feel like I still gave Alabama a very good take. Like I've I kept him that top seven, top six. Because I feel like the defense is still there, although I don't like some of the plays they gave. they looked more human this past week against Florida State, who I feel like is not a very good ACC offense. Okay? Let me repeat that. I'm I'm worried about the defense that was this lockdown defense that gave Florida State and in my opinion, JT Daniels, a quarterback that was like couldn't kind of couldn't cut it at Auburn. you know, comes over to Florida State and and in some parts kind of carved you up a little bit in some parts of that game, right? it's hard for me to say. Like I I don't I don't know, man. The defense, I think I'm gonna split it. Defense is contenders. The the offense I still is is is pretending. And I think if they get into a match where they have to establish if if if they take one part of the offensive way, it gets interesting, right? If you take away the if you take away the run and you put this on Keelan Russell, it gets interesting, man. It really does. If you take away Keelan Russell from the ability to run and you get pressure on him and make him have to make decisions quick. And on the go and under pressure, it definitely Adam Fisher: Yeah. Yeah. Ted Turner: gets different. He doesn't have the opportunity to be as electric as we've seen on tape. But but I mean this is just a couple of teams, right? So it's a big weekend coming up. We're gonna pick these games, but but fish we're gonna transition. Adam Fisher: A lot of good games. Ted Turner: It's also a big weekend for Georgia. you know, obviously Oklahoma. Now let's let's hop in with this Adam Fisher: Not if you ask ESPN. Ted Turner: one question. What's that? Adam Fisher: Said not you ask ESPN, it's not a big weekend for Georgia. Boy, I'm telling you, losing to loop losing to Michigan, man, I'm telling you, that just kills your season. Ted Turner: Was it losing to Michigan or fourteen to six to New Mexico? Could have been both. Right, right, right, right. Adam Fisher: A little bit of column A, a little bit of column B. Alright. Because But man, like they're going like game day or game day I is going to L what L S U, Texas A and Okay. Two teams that lost, right? Isn't that where they're going? Ted Turner: No, they're going to Tennessee and Texas. Tennessee, Texas. Yeah. Adam Fisher: And then SEC. that's right. They're going to Tennessee and Texas. Nation's going to Florida Ole Miss. And Ted Turner: Yeah. Adam Fisher: not that I need them to come to Georgia Games. I just I couldn't believe it when I saw that. You know, because everybody they have jumped on the Florida bandwagon quick like. Like quick like. Ted Turner: W listen man, ke for the fans, I know it's great, but I know for Kirby, he's like, dude, keep him away. The more we can focus on football in Athens, I mean, we talked about it first week of the year, man. That the there ain't nothing in Athens you gotta add to make it a bet a better weekend than it already is. I mean, it it's like a it's kind of giving me a little bit of extra, you know, sometimes when you get like the cut of the cake that like a corner piece, let's call it that. You get the corner piece of the cake by accident, right? That's that's how I consider game day. It's like, okay, you gave me a corner piece by accident, but realistically, the cake's incredible and it's gonna be fine. Like, but in my opinion, I know how Kirby would want it. If I don't have to interview, if I don't have to do all these things and give these these, you know, recordings and you get in my locker room during the week and I have to give you time to and I have to fake it to make it to get you these comments Adam Fisher: Yeah. Ted Turner: for for yeah he's like man I'm I'm good with it and you know fake fake Paul Feinbaum man he can he hates Georgia so I mean I I'm just a I I just assume he Adam Fisher: He sure does. Ted Turner: hates Georgia so like for all I care they can both they can both stay the hell away. I don't really care but I know the fans love it and I agree with you but but fish what's your so let's hop in let's dive in head you know head first Georgia three node Oklahoma comes in and now I I want to talk really quick about how We know, we know that we are going to get Oklahoma's best shot. This is not going to be the Oklahoma that played Michigan. This is not going to be the Oklahoma team that played New Mexico. We are we we get we get the good games in Athens. now the first thing before we hop into statistical values and things of that nature. I don't know about you, but the things that that kind of haunt me is I think as a fan base and as a As a stadium that has played big games early in the year, most of the time it being Alabama, we've experienced, or a Tennessee sometimes. But like this game can tend to feel like we have to understand what we're going up against. This is a team that's going to give us their best shot. They are fully capable of beating us. Fully capable. They have a really good defense. They have a capable offense that's not performing very well right now. But we also have to understand that we've been in these situations before. And if we underestimate them, we're sitting here going, man, we had it lined up, right? Regardless of if it's not a not the eight o'clock start or the seven o'clock start. We got a 330 game. It's an SEC atmosphere. We got everything to be up and atom for because it's our first, in my opinion, real test of the year. So right so right off the bat, fish, like what's your like what's your temperature meter on this game and how do you dynamically like kind of talk through like what's coming into town. Adam Fisher: Well, I mean, you you pretty much hit the nail on the head, man. this this is a big, big game, you know, and Kirby's not gonna let us not be ready. he's like if you can't get hyped for, you know, an SEC game, you know, three thirty in Athens, you know, 'cause that's just our normal time. We play more games at three thirty than anybody other top ten, top ten fifteen team ten team in the country. Like we live at three thirty. If we're playing somebody that's not Western Kentucky or, you know, Tennessee State. That's just our time. but I'm not nervous, but I know we're gonna get a version of Oklahoma that nobody has seen before. We're gonna get the version of Oklahoma that all the experts thought were gonna, you know, make a run at the SEC or, you know, the college football playoff. Mateo's gonna come out there and look like Joe Johnny, you know, football. Like he's gonna come out there and he's gonna be mobile, he's gonna run, he's gonna, you know, make some throws. Even their running game is gonna step it up a notch, I feel like, because they've been no nowhere to be found, you know, MIA all season so far. Their run game's garbage. but when they Saturday, you know, it's they're gonna they're gonna make a good run. And, you know, everybody's gonna be up, everybody's gonna be pumped. I know the fans are, it's gonna be a hell of a atmosphere. but I'm looking forward to it and I'd say my temperature is ninety five point six. Ted Turner: Man, I I I think we're I mean, this is gonna sound really weird, but I think we're just like spot on and like that's the take. If you're a Georgia fan and you're walking in that stadium on Saturday, you understand that what you're gonna see is not this fourteen to six New Mexico team, not this going to the big house. This is an SEC atmosphere. Their backs are against the wall. They have the opportunity to hop right in and make a name for themselves and kind of legitimately wash away the rough start in their minds of mi of New Mexico and of going to Michigan and losing. This could wipe away that entire start for them. You know, we are a stepping stone that could really set them back a sail. And Brent Venables knows that. He's telling his team that. But Georgia just has to understand that that that kill mentality has to continue. And we've had that this year. Regardless of the opponent, I feel like we have unlike any other year, I feel really good about first quarter starts. I remember sitting on this podcast numerous years, Fish, going, What was the keys to victory? What was it? Adam Fisher: Boy, starting fast two years ago. Wow. It was such a big Ted Turner: Starting fast. Hot starts. Adam Fisher: deal. Such a big deal. And it's been such a relief this season so far, man. The only thing that would be better Ted Turner: I agree. Adam Fisher: is if we were getting eight sacks a game. That would be the only thing. Ted Turner: Yes, if we if if we want Adam Fisher: Ha ha ha. Ted Turner: to be the you're right. And I think and here's the thing, I trust I haven't seen anything on our defense that says we're not capable of it, but I also trust Glenn Schumann because I feel Adam Fisher: No, me either. Mm-hmm. Ted Turner: like Glenn Schumann is one of the best defensive minds to dial up things to go look, I understand we could hold our head that we're not getting pressure with four. But I feel like this year the difference maker is we have a secondary that can un that can really undertake what we're gonna have to do if we can't get four. I feel much better about sending a couple of extra this year with the secondary half our let me remind before we hop into these statistical things, our secondary against Arkansas was a very bad look. And I'll tell you why. It's because the assignment was not to go in there and have to do these major things. The assignment was we don't believe KJ Jackson can beat us with his arm. So you're gonna see I mean, there's a couple of plays where yeah, a couple of really great catches. Let's I mean, I think the play of the year catch happened to that game. Did you agree, Fish? I mean, good lord. Adam Fisher: Yeah. Yeah, even even if even if DeMello had been upright and made an attempt at that ball, I still think that guy catches it. Ted Turner: Yes. I it's just you're not Adam Fisher: I mean, it was unbelievable. Ted Turner: you're not you can't you can't defend talent and incredible athleticism. That's what that was. but you can't look at that as something that you go, man, what's going on in the secondary? We we said, Hey, if you want to dink and dump, you can have it. Everything you saw of the secondary and all the dink and dumps, they they they accounted to three points. I'm not talking about the fourteen we gave up late. They accounted the three points, and I don't care how it looks, but if that's the game plan, I get it. Guess what, dog fans? Get ready for it because that's the game plan versus Mateer. Mateer is gonna have to do the it's the same game plan. And if anything, we did it week one and we know what to expect. So let's hop in on some stats. Let's talk about injury report. Let's talk about who we what keys to victory are before we pick these games. Fish. I wanna I'm not gonna go through every stat, but I'm gonna give you the ones that jump out the most, okay? Five Georgia's averaging five hundred and thirty nine yards of total offense per game. Oklahoma is averaging right around three twenty nine. that's a huge margin. Two hundred yards of is the difference in the average offensive productivity. Another thing that stands out, even though these you know, Oklahoma has a defense that's being widely talked about, this will be one of the best, if not the best defense. at least I know up to this point, but Maybe throughout the whole year that we'll see. this defense is only allowing right now around 165 passing yards per game. But but Georgia, when you look at them, they're they're around the 219 mark. The big difference is Oklahoma's allowing about 110 yards on the ground. Georgia right now is averaging on is only average allowing 45 yards of rushing in three games this year. Huge, right? Because Georgia Adam Fisher: The big Ted Turner: wants to do what? We want to run the we want to run the football, right? but The biggest statistic that I want to talk about before we get into injuries and key playmakers is this is the turnover margin. The turnover margin is just like the fast start. We so we we've talked about this on this show for multiple years. We had it in keys to victory. We want to see a fast start and we want to see us win the turnover margin. Well, right now, Georgia's turnover margin is at plus three. Oklahoma's is at negative four. This could be a huge factor come Saturday, right? Because if the defense, Adam Fisher: Sure could. Ted Turner: if the defense is always on the field, then I have a feeling that these statistics get a little bit a little bit higher and some of these t some of these averages get a little bit higher as well. What's your take on that? How important has it been to see turnovers happen this year for Georgia and the and how's it gonna be important on Saturday for the lack of turnovers for Oklahoma? Adam Fisher: I think that helps us out. I mean it's I mean, like you said, it's it's it's one of the most important things, you know, the turnover margin, that's a big deal. that keeps your defense off the field, you know, it keeps their defense on the field, which in big games, tight games, Ted Turner: Mm. Adam Fisher: you know, down deep into the fourth quarter, you know, stamina comes into mind and you know, how long that defense has been on the a field, time of possession, big deal. You know, and that plays right into it. so it's a big advantage for us, man. Big. Ted Turner: Yeah. What a and and speaking of speaking of defense and advantages, obviously everybody's kind of heard the news of David Stone, the big defensive lineman for Oklahoma. big storyline. suffered a knee injury during practice on Monday. Venables came and talked how it kind of the word was like it's so weird. It's weird when you use this man, popped out. It he said Stone's knee popped out, but the initial x-rays were positive. I always feel weird when they say that too, 'cause it's like positive to me always means something's up. And negative always means like it, you know, well, we're good. It was a negative. I I I don't get that, but he said that Stone reported his pain of two of ten is availability versatile is still uncertain. Now, we all know that the availability reports I'm even wondering, I I think as we speak, I'm gonna maybe do a little research here and maybe see if the availability reports out, but it doesn't matter. There's availability report on Wednesdays and Thursdays, but also There's a new one that comes out like on Friday or whatever. But how Adam Fisher: Friday night, yeah. Friday night. Ted Turner: yeah, Friday night. How how big is I mean, David Stone, you know, big kid, he he definitely is the reason why Oklahoma, and we talk about it all the time, is getting those linebackers to run free, getting the rest of those linemen getting to the quarterback is a huge part in plugging that that that that point of the line and stopping the run. Like how important is this for David Stone to be a part of this game for Oklahoma? Adam Fisher: No, it's gotta be huge 'cause we've been, you know, able to, you know, impose our will, so to speak, you know, on teams throughout through the run game this season. haven't had to, but we've been doing it. you know, but that's just you know, I don't know how big a how effective he is as far as pass rush goes, but I know run stop, he's it's a big deal. It's a very big deal. And that plays into us our strength because Chauncey and Nate have been showing out this season so far. Chauncey looked damn good Saturday, dude. He looked real Ted Turner: Yes. Adam Fisher: good. He looked real good. so yeah, it's a big deal. It's it's not nothing for sure. Ted Turner: I agree. I totally agree. And I think, you know, we look at like we move into like I think David Stone as far as key players and we t we we like to preview a few players from Oklahoma. You know, and a lot of dog fans, like, they're pretty up to date on like when they're looking at the game. if you follow Georgia football and you follow the teams and you follow the SEC, you kind of have a a dynamic of knowing who's who and what we're looking for. But obviously David Stone, big number zero, it'll be interesting to see if he's in there. But obviously it's next man up like Georgia says. And I I think Oklahoma is a program that's done a very good job in recruiting, very good job in roster management. I mean, they better. They have a they have a paid person in in I don't know, I forget it's Nagy's name. I think it's Jim Nagy. that can that is in charge of roster management and NIL and I mean it should be right with somebody being paid to do it. But I think of Stone being very influential on defense, but I think we all are centering our attention around John Matteir, right? I mean, when you look at John Mateir and you look at, you know, forty-seven of seventy-five in passing, six hundred and fifty-two yards, six touchdowns, three interceptions is something huge on that on that list, averaging about, you know, two hundred and seventy-two yards. But but the problem is not been with Mateer, is it's the fact that the pressure that the inability to run the football by Oklahoma has once again put on John Mateer. And these are keys. that we said for Oklahoma when we started the year. The thing that will hold them back is is how much of this pressure will be on John Matir if they can't run the football. And it's happened and it's shown and it's not only shown statistically in the numbers they have, but it's also shown in their ability to score points. John Matir is is is the player to watch on Saturday in all elements. I mean He's he's supposedly in better shape, best shape of his life. He's not injured this year. He didn't ha he doesn't have the finger problem going on. but that's that's huge. Like what fish, like what is John Mateer like if if Oklahoma's gonna gonna come out with a victory, and that's a raw topic on a Georgia podcast, but if Oklahoma wants to come into Athens and get an upset, what is John Matir gonna have to do right for that to happen? Adam Fisher: Everything. Like not not take sacks, no turnovers, you know, you know, a very high p completion percentage, you know, a good QBR. you know, not taking sacks, you know, no no stupid penalties, you know, intentional groundings, you know, nothing like that. 'Cause you can't afford to do that. You can't afford to play sloppy football against us. We're too disciplined. We're you know, we're too good. and I'm not ashamed to say that because it's facts are facts. Just you know, watch the game. we play faster than any team we've played so far this year, and it's you can like it's easy to see. so Mathias got his hands full, but you're right, like you know, Ty Simpson last year, Bama, no run game, and it showed no matter how good he is, and he was no slouch, you know, that man could throw, he could sling it. You know, really accurate, had a decent arm, could make all the throws, but you know, no run game, it doesn't matter who you have back there. Ted Turner: Yeah, and I it's gonna be huge. It's gonna be a huge Saturday. And it doesn't, I mean, statistically, you can't just assume by the numbers. You would assume by the numbers, Georgia's been very good against the run this year. I would I would tell you that this does come to mind. This is three teams that, in my opinion, they don't stand out as teams that they go when you point to like run games in in in college football, they're not three teams you're gonna point to. Okay. But I will tell you, they're Oklahoma has not been a team that you point to either to go run game, right? But it's huge for John Mateir because if Georgia gets into a situation where they're they're sitting there going, We are going to stop the run and we are going to tell you you have to beat us. You can dink, dump, do whatever you want to. And it may, once again, to Georgia, Georgia fans' eyes, not look the part. But you have to understand, man, in SEC football and in in these in these games, the goal is not to always I mean, you're not this is a big time game. When you look back at Ole Miss and L S U, both of those teams didn't do anything to each other that they did the first three games of the year. Nothing like that. It was it it it it becomes a different type of opponent, right? The the the keys are get a W. Period. And I understand everybody's gonna want to be like, Well, look at it. What What about when we play Bama? What what about when we play Bama? There's a completely different game plan for when we play Alabama. There's a completely different game plan. I mean, you know, 10 years ago when we played Georgia Tech, we didn't I mean you have to scheme to stop the option. You have to scheme for the game to be a lot less we're gonna get a lot less possessions. So do you think we can come in with the whole mindset of let's go in there against Georgia Tech and let's just chunk the ball all night? Okay. But as Tennessee used to find out with their offense. If that if it doesn't connect, your defense is going to be on that field a lot. So pick your poison, right? They're Adam Fisher: A lot. Yep. Ted Turner: going to be out there a lot. Let's flip the script real quick. Gunner Stockton. I think it's obviously a name that you think about along with the running game. But you look at Gunner and you look at 38 Adam Fisher: Especially after Saturday. Ted Turner: of 45, 583, nine touchdowns, zero interceptions, right? 84.4 completion rate. Biggest question for Saturday, Fish. Can Gunner make plays? But it's not. Like, right, dupe. It's not that's not the that's not the biggest question. The biggest question is can Gunner consistently make the right decisions against an Oklahoma defense that disguises coverages and brings pressure like they do, like they like to do, right? We want to see a cool as cucumber, Gunnar Stockton, that for the most part this year, that a lot of dog fans might have looked and been like, Who what's going on here? But he has put us in a lot of situations where He saw what the offense was giving us, and he goes, I really don't have to throw this ball. I know for a fact they're in man, and I know they're going to run everybody out of green grass, and I'm going to be able to have 20 yards of it. I think that's that's huge to what we're going to experience Saturday. On top of that, Fish, what do you think Gunnar's got to do to make to what does he got to do to make sure that Georgia comes out with a victory on the offensive side of the line? Adam Fisher: Find fifth gear. He's gotta find fifth gear when he's running the ball, dude. Okay. He got Hawk down. He was so far ahead, dude. If he had another gear, if he could have just downshifted or something, he's like his truck, man. He's only got four gears. Like he he was maxed out top speed. You know, he could have Ted Turner: Yeah. Adam Fisher: scored a he he should have scored a touchdown right there, man. But just play smart, play sharp. Keep doing exactly what he's been doing. I I am so impressed with the way he's looked so far this year. He is a much improved quarterback in my opinion from last year. I'm liking what I see as far as getting the ball getting rid of the ball quick. You know, his release is a lot faster than it was. I think he worked on that a lot at the Manning Passing Academy this this offseason. Ted Turner: Yeah. Adam Fisher: Dude, he ruined with Trinidad Chambliss, the Mississippi State quarterback and I think Marcel Reid. Like Do you imagine the conversation in that room? You know? I bet it was awesome. Yeah, I know. Yep. So I just think he's gotta just Ted Turner: Yeah. Iron sharpens iron, man. Iron sharpens iron. Adam Fisher: be the same guy he's been all season. Ted Turner: Yeah, I agree, man. I do I I think he I think he jokingly said, you know, a lot of people said they were like, Man, the piano hit his back about forty-seven yards in of the 62. And Adam Fisher: Hay Ted Turner: but also a lot of people let's give him a little credit. He continued to look around like w why is nobody tackling me right now? Like, you know, he's been told, like, slide, get out, and it but he's also like, I'm not missing the slide if I can get twenty more. So you can see he's running Adam Fisher: He couldn't believe it. Ted Turner: with like this like awareness of why am I not being tackled, right? that probably could slow down a little bit. but man, all right. So listen, let's let's talk really quick. Keys to victory. Okay. Keys to victory for Georgia. and let's let's let's tear them apart really quick before we pick tonight. but here's here's the ones I I think, right? I think limit explosiveness from Oklahoma. Now Oklahoma has not they've not had a ton of explosiveness, but when they have, it's been game changers, right? Even though New Mexico, you know, even though they only allowed 14 points to Oklahoma, when the game was really ugly, Isaiah Satania, is that I I think it's Satania. I don't know if it's his first name's Isaiah or not, but I'm pretty sure it is. Satanya gets hit. I mean, Matir hits him in stride for I mean, he's a really good athlete. He's fast. we got to limit that, right? Because when we have them on the ropes, we have them in situations, I don't think this is gonna be a high scoring game. Although there are some sport writers that have Georgia embarrassing Oklahoma this week. Now I'm just putting it there. I've seen it, I've read it, I've I've listened to it, but we don't do that on this show. We we we kinda we we stay humble here, right? But I think limiting explosive plays is one. I think we don't give Oklahoma short fields. I think if we're continuing to make Oklahoma grind the ball down the field all game, I think that's going to be in favor to Georgia, right? don't turn the ball over. Don't give the ball in short fields. I think establishing the run early, this is a team that has been susceptible a little bit to the run. I think that's what's going to give you You know, i if if you don't do that, you're gonna give Oklahoma a chance to to dial up some of those Brent Venables type stunts and blitzes and exotic bl exotic blitz packages to come to come to day. And I think the last key is I think you gotta make sure we play all four quarters, right? this is a team that hasn't seen hasn't seen their n their ones in the game for all four quarters all year. Okay. So if they if they have to be, we gotta be in the game, we gotta be involved, we gotta be ready to win the game if we have to. in a tight one. anything you want to add to that, fish? I mean a lot of those are depicted off of what? Defense, right? I do feel like I do feel like if we control those avenues on defense, I think our offense is going to be just fine as long as we don't shoot ourselves in the foot and put ourselves in bad situations. Adam Fisher: Yeah, man. Yeah. Long sustain drives. You know, establish the run early. You know, keep our defense on the sideline because I feel like it's gonna be a close, low scoring game. And we're gonna need stamina. We're gonna need depth and and at the end of the game. You know, we're gonna need I'm glad we have the depth we do and you know they work the rotation like they do to keep guys in and out and keep fresh. And the weather will be a little better. It's gonna be a lot cooler than it was. the past couple of the first few weeks of the season. So that's gonna help that. but that's gonna help them too. but it it's it's just gotta get out there and and dominate early. That's that's that's my key to the game. Ted Turner: Just to I agree, Fish. Just to kind of piggyback on this, and then we're gonna pick tonight. I thought what we do last is we talked injuries. everybody wants to know what's going on with Nate Frazier, what's going on with Isaiah Canyon. I have the availability report right here as of as as of right now. Tyreek Green is is out, Marcus Harrison is out, Chase Linton out. questionable right now is running back Nate Frazier, Isaiah Canyon, and Justice Fitzpat Fitzpatrick. and I think this is just, you know, it's it's the norm. I mean, out means there's not a chance. I think if everybody's listening throughout the week, Kirby is not gonna just hop on the mic and just go, hey, we we know we're good here. So let's make sure we get that news out. I think he said it in his in exact tone. He said, I feel good about Nate. It was he probably could have gone back in the game. It was very precautionary. I have heard different things about Canyon, although I've heard on on some ends that a couple days rest, they feel good about him being in there Saturday. But also I've heard that depends on how this week goes. But as far as availability reports, that's what's happened. And I think Oklahoma's doing the same thing. Now Oklahoma has a couple more injuries than Georgia so out right now is linebacker Taylor Haim. Wide receiver Trell Harris linebacker Cole Sullivan defensive back Michael b Baganowski and then Michael Fasusi, the of offensive line. That's a big one for for Oklahoma. Baganowski. Questionable, same thing. Defensive Adam Fisher: That name Baganowski. That's a football name. Ted Turner: lineman, David Stone is on the questionable. Ride receiver, Jermichael Carter. Probable is gonna be Kit Lewis. so that's huge right there. I mean, but you know, not not really giving much out there, but just to assure you. this point in the week, Wednesday, nothing coming out of Athens. Any you're not gonna hear any more. I mean, you're especially this part of the season, it's gonna be vague. It's gonna be there, you're gonna be the communication for injuries are coming through this availability report. And if if fans are are are don't know this, you can literally just SEC availability report. You pick the sport on there and it shows every single team. they have to turn in something for that at different parts of the week. So that's how you kinda know. All right, and we'll we'll hit the rest of it when we pick the game fish. But without any further ado, you wanna pick some some really good games this week? I mean, I didn't think anything could beat last week, but man, there's some good games this weekend, man. Adam Fisher: There are, but just one little thing about Isaiah Canyon. I I I think that's a hamstring. Ted Turner: Yes, Adam Fisher: I think that's I think he's gonna be out a few weeks. The way he Ted Turner: Okay. Adam Fisher: just the way he pulled up lame, like, you know, I was wa I know Ted Turner: Mm mm. Adam Fisher: every lot all of us were watching the game probably, but the way he pulled up, you know, like I've had a hamstring before and that that hop to the sideline, you know, that the Arkansas cheerleader had to catch him from falling, I that looked like a hammy to me. Then those take a few weeks. Ted Turner: Yeah. Yeah, and I, you know, I I I think the best outcome would be the two weeks in the hammy. The the second one would probably be I did hear that they thought that that injury was was already kind of nagging before he even got out there. So this was something they thought may happen. But also the good news is is nothing coming out saying, you know, he's out, he's done. And so hopefully, you know, you get through Oklahoma this weekend, you have Vanderbilt at home before you go on the road. To Tuscaloosa and then you come back home against Auburn. So big stretch. but definitely would be a plus to make to have Isaiah Canyon, because I do think he's he was starting to just get more comfortable in the offense and he was getting targeted more. And so really bad to see that coming out of there. let's hop in, fish. Let's let's pick these games, run Adam Fisher: Yes, sir. Ted Turner: a little bit behind the night. But you know what? That's totally fine. People get a little over Adam Fisher: So good. Ted Turner: time of our normal hour and extra football. So Let's hop straight in, man. We're gonna go first, twelve forty-five. South Alabama gonna be visiting the University of Kentucky. Kentucky twenty and a half point favorites coming off that big win against Texas AM. man, Adam Fisher: I'll buy it. Ted Turner: Kentucky is coming into this game right now, fish, trying to start the season. At three and one, man. What do you think about this game? Do you think Kentucky gets it done and they start out three and one? Adam Fisher: I'm with Well I they're definitely gonna get it done. Just how much they win by is the only question. I'm gonna ride that train till the wheels fall off, bro. Now gimme gimme they cover. Gimme Kentucky covering. Ted Turner: Kentucky covering. So they're they're a football school now. They might be, Adam Fisher: No I believe so. Ted Turner: man. They might be. I don't I don't buy the basketball anymore. I mean Adam Fisher: Basketball's been kinda meh lately. You know? They might be changing their identity. Ted Turner: Maybe, maybe. I mean, no offense, like, Adam Fisher: Yeah. Ted Turner: I mean, you can be Arkansas wearing paper bags and you know, literally they're Adam Fisher: my god. Ted Turner: like the countdown is for foot if for basketball season. Thank God we have a basketball team. that's crazy. Right? I mean, Adam Fisher: I I saw a lot of those signs, like thank God for Calipari. It's awesome. Ted Turner: maybe take a chance at I mean hey man, bring him over, let him coach football. I mean, look, something Adam Fisher: Yeah. The man knows how to recruit. Ted Turner: motivational needs to happen to Arkansas. We all know this, right? man, it's crazy. 8 o'clock PM SEC network. Yeah, we're switching all the way to 8 p.m. Arkansas. This Arkansas team we're talking about, one and two, takes on a very feisty three and Tulsa team. man, this would be and you gotta be careful about the record, but this would be ugly, right, Fish? This would be very ugly Adam Fisher: there. Ted Turner: to start out the season one and three and being a seven point favorite at home at night. what do you think about this game? Who do you think wins, Fish? Adam Fisher: They better win. Who cares if they cover, they better win. This is a big game for Silverfield and his, you know, regime. You know, he needs this one. He needs a bet. Ted Turner: Silverfox. Silvernuts. Wait, Adam Fisher: Silver Fox. Silvernut. Ted Turner: I say silver nuts? That's terrible. Adam Fisher: Ha ha ha Ted Turner: So you're you're picking you're picking you're picking Arkansas? Adam Fisher: I liked it. Gimme Arkansas. Gimme Arkansas by one. Ted Turner: No. No, man. I got Tulsa. Like I I got Tulsa, man. I'm like I don't see it. I I see Silverfox looks depressed. He looks depressed. He's looked like, what do I got myself into? They got paper bags in the stands, Fire Hunter Eurocheck. There's TikTok videos Adam Fisher: Bad. It's bad. Ted Turner: of people looking at the pregame atmosphere and bars like bars are closed, man. The only thing that's open at eight, nine AM is. pregaming for an Arkansas game, especially an eleven AM game, is coffee shops. Adam Fisher: Dollar General. Ted Turner: eight o'clock at night, man. Fayetteville residents are gonna be in bed by then. This is gonna be this is gonna be a Tulsa win, man. Like I'm just going Tulsa and I agree with you though. I think they need to win, but I think Tulsa does win. I'm give me Tulsa and give me give me Tulsa seven points, maybe more. Like, I don't know, man. I'm just not a believer, man. Adam Fisher: Wow. They flipped the spread. Ted Turner: I'm not a believer in in this this Arkansas team right now. Like, forget the spread. I I would say if you're if you're hopping on FanDuel or Hard Rock Betts, pay attention to that one because that might be a good one right there. I'm not telling you, we do not provide any services for betting on this particular podcast. Adam Fisher: Nope. No, thank you. Ted Turner: so if you lose any money, it's not on us. four fifteen PM SEC Network, University of Auburn has Vanderbilt coming to the Plains. Tough loss last week. rain delays, lightning. man, nine and a half point favorites. Adam Fisher: It's hard to play like that. Ted Turner: It is, it is. Nine and a half point favorites. I mean, Auburn feels like if I if they can get this win against Vany, they're three and one. It's not, the sky's not falling in Auburn. What do you think, Fish? Adam Fisher: Yeah, Auburn's gonna this is a get right game and they're gonna show up and they're gonna make Jerry Curtis wish he was back in Nashville early. Auburn Auburn big, Auburn by seventeen. Ted Turner: I like Jared Curtis. I I think I think he showed some he reminded me of that those that first year of Matthew Stafford. Very good electric arm. Adam Fisher: Mm. Ted Turner: just just really good arm, right? But you felt like he was a little bit of a loose cannon. He didn't really know what to do in some certain scenarios. He was just kind of like, All right, you kind of know the playbook, you kind of know what you're seeing, but it's all really, really fast to me right now. And so I'm really just trying to make some really big time plays and big time gaps and it's a little bit too big for him right now. I got a feeling Auburn, four fifteen, I mean, pissed off because I mean this Golish is gonna come in and tell them straight up, man. They're like, you know, you see what this guy from you know, you see what Summer All saying, man? He didn't even he didn't even want to be a part of this team, man. Like he he didn't want nothing of Auburn. He came in here. We we weren't friends. I mean he really he really played the the the the The villain card this week and it worked, right? Adam Fisher: Yep. No. Ted Turner: I think for goalish, you gotta play the you gotta play the villain this week and go look like this is there's no way that Vanderbilt can come into town and pray that we fumble in the end zone to get a victory this week, which and let's just be honest, Vanderbilt has no reason to win that game against NC State. Zero reason to win that game. Adam Fisher: Yeah. Ted Turner: but I think you're right. I think Auburn gets it done. seventeen is a lot. But I could see it happening. It just depends on if Golas tries to get cute. but I think seventeen could be I definitely think they cover though. I I like the cover for Auburn right there. moving ahead, man. Let's talk seven p.m. I'm sorry, seven forty-five p.m. nineteen Missouri heading into number twenty-four, Mississippi State. I think this is a really, really key game, right? 'Cause I think this separates a couple of teams that people are on the fence about as far as if they're Pretenders or contenders, right? rumor is we may see Ahmad Hardy. Rumor is maybe not, but this is the kind of the around the time that they talked about that he could come back and make an appearance, right? so what do you think about this game? Fish seven forty five. Mississippi State's got six and a half right now on Missouri. Who do you got? Adam Fisher: I'll buy that for a dollar. gimme gimme a substate. I'm not drink Ted Turner: Just one dollar. Adam Fisher: a witzing the Kool-Aid. Ahmad Hardy's gonna if he even if he does play, he's not gonna make that big a difference. He's we're gonna be rusty, he's not gonna be in shape. well not fo not SEC week four, you know, shape. so yeah, Ted Turner: Yeah. I'm reading it right now. He's out. He's out. Adam Fisher: gotcha. So I mean and there you go. Austin Simmons. Ted Turner: If that makes a difference. Adam Fisher: is all that team has right now. He's the best thing there. He's all they got on offense and on defense. And he doesn't even play defense. So give Mystip State, they cover. Ted Turner: might need to this week. Yeah, man. Home Cowbells. Adam Fisher: Ha ha ha. Ted Turner: Fifty throws a game. Mississipp State has a defense. You don't have a run game. At least you don't have a mod Hardy. Adam Fisher: They're not losing that game. Ted Turner: I don't think Mississippi State loses this game. And I've never picked this I've never picked Mississippi State. Let the record be known. I've never picked Mississippi State this many times to win in a season. Especially in the first six games of the year. but give me Mississippi State. I think Kamara Taylor throws for like five hundred yards at home. I don't know. Cowbells are going to be ringing. Communication is going to be hard. It's going to be wild, man. Wild, wild, wild. 7 p.m. ESPN, South Carolina, Wounded Duck, South Carolina. Had a victory, right? They had it in their hands. They really needed to win this game because this is a tough, this, this sets up a tough game for them to go in in Tuscaloosa at a at night. It's going to be electric there. I think Alabama knows that Beamer is starting to be vulnerable to the Fire Beamer talks. There's already people talking about Fire Beamer. And you knew it was happening. You knew he had to have a pretty decent season to not get a hot seat conversation. But right now, Fish, Alabama, a mere double digit favorite, twenty twelve and a half point favorites at home. Who you got? Adam Fisher: Beamer's putting feelers out for coordinator jobs next season. he's trying to see where he's gonna be living. He's making plans, he's shopping around for houses. it doesn't get any easier for them, man. And it's gonna be a rough season. not not to take anything away from Mississippi State, just I'm taking everything away from Carolina and Lenore Sellers is aging in reverse. Like he's not getting better. He it seems that he's getting worse, you know, week to week. You know, some of those throws, like I said, I watched that game this afternoon, so it's fresh, man. Some of those throws he made were just awful. Like what's he doing? You know, his decision making Ted Turner: Yeah. Yeah. Adam Fisher: and his pocket presence is just not stellar. and that's a shame because Carolina, you know, had the makings of a at least a bowl team. You know, I don't know about the twelve team playoff. twenty fourteen playoff, yeah. But yeah, it it's ugly. It's and it's just gonna get worse, man. Yeah, Alabama big. Ted Turner: Yeah, man. I I I can't see this happening. If it is, it's gonna be like Florida State. They're gonna they may play out of their butt for a little while. Alabama will conjure up a storm. and they'll come back and it it won't be close. I mean, this think about it, Fish. I mean, yeah, lightning didn't help against Kentucky, but I think the Kentucky game went south very quick in the second half. Alabama not a good showing in the first half, three turnovers in that first half. They're lucky to get out of there with a win. They they have Florida State, a lightning delay comes in, they come back out. They literally put up more offense in the three to four minutes they have left in the half than they put up the entire first quarter and quarter and a half. And I mean, you can look at it and call it how you want to, man. This defense, this offense by Kendall Browse is built around Lenora Sellers making quick decisions, quick decisions, right? Adam Fisher: Yeah. Yeah. Ted Turner: He's holding the ball too long. He's holding the ball too long. There's nobody open. And then he's having to make something out of nothing. And that's not how Kendall Browse's offense is set up. And if that continues in Alabama, it's going to be a long day, man. Like this defense for Alabama. it's always been the contender to me. The defense has always been the contender. They look more human lately, but always been the contender. I like Alabama in this one. I think the I I'm gonna say they don't cover though. For some reason, I'm gonna say they don't cover. I do think that South Carolina will make something of this game. If if Alabama can like like if Alabama like does something crazy and can't recover this time around, well look out because it could be interesting. But next game, big game in the swamp, 330, Florida, Ole Miss right now, Florida, three and a half point favorites on Ole Miss. my question, two questions. Number one, who you think wins? But number two, do you think they're favorites because Because Ole Miss has to come into the swamp in an environment and this will be a big game. First test on the road for Ole Miss, Pete Golding. But also John Summerall. It's his first, you it's his first big I say really first big, big test in the SEC. What do you think? Adam Fisher: I think Vegas forgot who Omis's quarterback is, bro. Trinidad Chambliss is a clear out way out in front, eat my dust Heisman favorite. Ted Turner: Mm-hmm. Adam Fisher: all he's gotta do is stay healthy and win a few more games. And he's got the Heisman locked. that dude is something else. He looked amazing at LS against LSU. I mean, I know they had the home environment and everything for him, but it doesn't matter where this kid plays, he's gonna shine wherever he goes. He can play in Athens last year, he looked great. The Sugar Bowl last year, he looked great. We watched him play twice. Unfortunately, you know, we lost the second one. but I have no reason to doubt him whatsoever, no matter where he's at. I mean, unless weather gets involved, maybe heavy downpour, they're playing in a lot of rain with no lightning, so the ball's wet and it's slick, you know, maybe that changes the outcome. I don't know. Is Kawan Lacey playing? You know, is is he is he available? Ted Turner: good question, man. Let's look at the let's see the report. You know it's gonna say questionable. Yeah, he's questionable. Adam Fisher: Okay. So, you know, that is gonna play into it a little bit, but I still think Trinidad's enough to keep his team out in front of Florida. Ted Turner: Yeah, I think I think we said it earlier, you gotta score with Florida, and I think Ole Miss can score with Florida. I Adam Fisher: Easy. Ted Turner: think the test is gonna be can this defense for Florida they gotta test. They gotta stop the best quarterback possibly, not only in the SEC, but in the country. It's a big test, Adam Fisher: yep. Ted Turner: whether you're in the swamp, I agree with you. So I think it's gonna come down to like, you know, it's not gonna come down to like if Florida's gonna score. They're gonna score. It's gonna come down to you can they it's like the old Mississippi State, right? Can they stop Ole Miss enough to win the game? I don't think so. I mean, I I I have Ole Miss win this game. I think they I think Ole Miss covers. I mean, that sounds sounds weird, right? Ole Miss wins and they cover. But I Ole Miss wins this game, you know, four, seven points, twenty eight twenty-four type thing, thirty-one, twenty, twenty-seven type atmosphere. I mean, I I think they cover, man. I think I think Ole Miss wins. let's see. LSU, man. We talked about this. This is the big game. We talked about 7 30 p.m. Tiger Stadium, LSU's eight and a half point favorites. this is a huge game, man. O and two to whatever roster leaves out of Baton Rouge with an L on Saturday night. And so big, big games as far as SEC play is concerned. Who you got, Fish? Adam Fisher: if I was gonna pick whoever the home team was. That's how up in the air I feel like this game is. 'Cause you don't know which version of which team you're gonna get, but I think Death Valley at night is gonna be tough and Marcel Reed has not given me any reason to think he can be the quarterback I thought he was. I I'm very let down, you know, by him. 'cause I I I made myself look foolish last week, Ted. Foolish. So I'm not gonna do it again. Ted Turner: You told me. You told me. Yeah, you told me. But I I'm not gonna hold your grudge against that. We said we were gonna duke it out over Marcel Reed, but we're good. Adam Fisher: Absolutely Gimme Gimme L S U at home covering. Ted Turner: Yeah. Yeah. LSU pissed off Lane Kiffin, LSU at home. I mean, is it just me or does LSU get every night game, bro? Like every night game. Like it ain't hot in any other state other than Louisiana, right? Adam Fisher: I know. I know. Like they're doing him some sort of weird favor or something. No, and no Ted Turner: Yeah, give me Adam Fisher: notice when you watch Kiffin, he pokes his bottom jaw out, he pokes his bottom teeth out in front of his top that's when you can tell he's upset. Just and that's how he stayed looking the whole the whole game last week. He was just over there like err. Yep. Ted Turner: He they figured it out. It was just too late. And I and I'll I'm gonna be honest with you. I'll I'll add something onto that. There were parts that Pete Golding outcoached him in that game. That two point conversion, that two-point conversion was was brilliance. It was brilliance. I Adam Fisher: No. That was it. That was the death blow. Ted Turner: mean, he said it. He said, look, he said, if he if he's gonna use his last timeout to get the to get the kick team off of the field, so be it. That's fine. We'll go kick it, right? But if he's not. I believe enough in my team that we can score on the kicker team and I'm gonna on the kick team and I think we're gonna take that opportunity. And he called the bluff and it was great. And I do believe that was a that was a huge point of victory because it's something to say about having a drive length of the field and and score a touchdown, but also in the back of your mind, you're also going, I gotta score a touchdown and I gotta turn around and get two. So I think that's huge, man. I think but I agree with you, like Kippin's got some you got some show stuff that he gives away. big game, college game day, headed to Neeland, Knoxville. number 14, Tennessee, number one, Texas. Texas is four and a half. Fish, if you're going off of what you told our listeners, I know who you're picking. Let's see if you stay true to what you said. But who you got in this game, Fish? Adam Fisher: Rocky top. About twenty four. Ted Turner: Hey, it's down from fifty last week, right? Adam Fisher: And that was U T S A. Ted Turner: It's down. Yeah, it's down from 50. It's down from 50. I'm gonna be honest with you, man. on a serious note, man, I I'm calling upset alert. I like this. I like this scenario. This is a really, really wild scenario. for it's a listen, it's a 12 o'clock game, right? 12 o'clock Adam Fisher: I know. That's wild. Ted Turner: game. This is they make this game when they feel like Tennessee, young quarterback, you know, Joey Aguilar doesn't come back to Tennessee, snafu there. What does Tennessee have on offense, defense, Jim Knowles? How's the defense going to be under a new, you know, new coach? And all Tennessee has done is figured out how to run the football. Faison Brandon looks like a quarterback that is getting better and better every week as a young, talented runner and arm on that offense. And in my opinion, I bet on Tennessee when when it's when it's Josh Heipel and any quarterback, I'm betting on on Hypel if the quarterback position is going to be a difference maker. And you definitely know it's going to be a difference maker because of Everybody's Arch Manning. Arch Manning. And he had his listen, he had his time in the in the sun. This is going to be a test for for Texas. It's a noon kickoff. It's Nealand. They're going to check her in the stadium. They're notorious for getting you when you come in there at noon. And so I agree with you. I'm going upset. Tennessee. I'm not going cover. I I I think Tennessee, man, I think Tennessee pulls one of many. Close game wins this year. There's gonna be plenty of Morgan Wallins songs coming out this year with Tennessee because they will be underdogs a lot this year. And I think they're gonna be in in these games, they're underdogs a lot for the rest of the year. So last pick of the night, Fish. So Georgia, obviously, Oklahoma. Georgia coming in, ranked number two in the latest AP poll right now. And there's as far as SC concerned, we we don't really know. Everybody's either one to know or they're and one. Those will be s there'll be some teams and two after this weekend though, but Adam Fisher: That's right. Ted Turner: We talked about it earlier. 330 kickoff. Georgia coming in number two. Actually, Oklahoma is ending up outside of the rankings this week, but Georgia is now prepped to a 14 point favorite in this game. It was it started out at twelve and a half, it inched to thirteen, and now it's inched to fourteen. Fish, who do you got winning? Score, and what do you think one big key to victory will be? Adam Fisher: I think the same people that picked the spread came up with the spread for the Florida game or came up with the spread for the Georgia game. I don't think it I don't think we I don't think we win by fourteen. I I know we're gonna win. But I don't think it's fourteen. I don't think it's that easy. I think like I said and we've been talking about tonight, we get the best version of Oklahoma that anyone's ever seen this this year. Sorry to say ever seen, but this year so far. Matthew's gonna be a much improved quarterback this weekend. And I hope they're watching film from some of his games last year because we haven't seen the real John Matteer this year. You know, will the real John Matteir please stand up? And I think he is going to Saturday. So we've got to be sharp and pressure on we've got to make him uncomfortable and make him uncomfortable early. We need to jump out, dominate early. And Georgia Bob ten. Ted Turner: Georgia by ten. Listen, I have for many years been very humble when it comes to Vegas odds, when it comes to picks. I always feel like, you know, that guy that's like, Man, if I say we're gonna win by a ton, we're gonna we're gonna win by a few. And if we if I say we're gonna, you know, basically I always believe whatever I say is always gonna conjure up this bad stuff. Well listen, I Adam Fisher: Me too. Ted Turner: I I'm I don't believe that anymore. I I really don't I I this is the first year that I haven't really cared which jersey I wear or you know, my my lucky socks or my lucky hat or I just come in there with what I f what I want to wear, whichever jersey I wanna wear, whatever hat. I'm not superstitious this year. This that I'm just not. I I can't do it. I'm betting on this team this year. I'm betting on the offense, I'm betting on the defense, I'm betting on I'm betting on everything that everybody else is seeing because you know what? I have eyes like they do, I have a brain like they do, and and I'm a Georgia fan. And if they're not Georgia fans and they feel like it's fourteen, well, guess what? I'm gonna step out there and say, I'm with you. So here's my thing. I think it's gonna be worse than fourteen. I don't think Oklahoma's gonna be able score. I think it's gonna be I think they might get one in, maybe, maybe ten. but I'm I'm going Georgia 31, Oklahoma 10, 20 21 Adam Fisher: Nice. Ted Turner: points. I I just think, man, that the game plan sounds really, really good. And I am confidently going in and telling you that I think they're going to perform at that this year. I think we know that. I think everything we're selling this year is the same thing to the team. I liked Kirby's demeanor on Monday. I like his demeanor this entire year so far. Very much just like How's how's this person doing? They're doing good. He's he's really just he's really just football based this year. He's always been this way. But he's also let some reporters sometimes get to him and he kind of he kind of gives that one two jab every once in a while. This year he's not doing that, man. He's just kinda like, look, man, I'm I'm here so I he's pulling that hole. I'm here so I don't get fined. Right. And I like that about Kirby. So gimme Adam Fisher: Yeah, me too. Ted Turner: Georgia thirty one, Oklahoma ten, and a little statement game for Georgia. Although you're right, ESPN, even if it is this, even if that's the score, there will be no statement because, you know, sounds like so far that everybody's just like, well, Georgia's supposedly beating everybody by fifty nine anyway, so it really doesn't matter. while meanwhile, there's some lackluster Miami and Texas and all other wins going on. But we're gonna see what some people are made of this week. But fish, final thoughts tonight? Adam Fisher: First real test of the season, man. Like it's a different feel this week. The vibe's different. You know, I'm not I'm not nervous, but I feel a little different. But like you said, and that you know, what you mentioned about not wearing the same jersey and the lucky socks and things like that. Like I haven't been either. I mean the past couple of weeks I've worn the same shirt, you know, same shorts, but different socks. Sometimes flip flops, you know. But week one, I just put on a T shirt and my Georgia shorts and my mom goes, Where's your shirt? Where's your Georgia shirt? Like what's going on? I'm like, Meh. Like we're all right. You know, like I'm I'm much more relaxed this season than I have been. Ted Turner: Yeah. Adam Fisher: And I don't know if it's the team, if what w you know, where we've been scoring. I don't know if the defense just looks nasty and how fast they're playing. I don't know what it is, but Ted Turner: Yeah. Yeah. Adam Fisher: it's a it's different this year for some reason. Ted Turner: I agree. I totally agree, man. Final thought for me tonight is man, I I'm excited for Georgia to finally get to play an opponent that we will see exactly where we're at on defense, exactly where we're at on offense, and we're gonna be stretched. And let's let's not look at the numbers that this team, this Oklahoma team has produced. We're we're looking at it as What are the numbers that they're capable of producing? Not why. We're not, you know, Kirby said it. I don't, I'm not here to worry about how why they're not performing or why the capabilities of what they're doing is not connecting. I'm here to understand that what I see is on tape is they have the athletes on defense and they're very good on defense. And Brent Venables is a very good defensive-minded coach. And they have the they have the offense to go out there and be really, really explosive and be very good. They haven't connected with it yet. Our job is to make sure they don't connect with it on Saturday. That's my final word. We don't want Oklahoma to look any different than they have the rest of the year on our behalf. Let that be somebody else. As far as us, let's take care of business. Let's keep them in that, in that conversation. So Fish, always a pleasure, man. This is I always look at Wednesday as like college football eve, because Thursday games Adam Fisher: Me too. Ted Turner: happen, Friday games happen, and kind of starts the weekend. So is the The rumor of a little fall air coming in Sunday morning. So hopefully that makes for a cooler Saturday afternoon and evening. we will see. but looking forward to it, looking forward to a great weekend of college football. excited. So as always, can't wait to be back here next week, hopefully looking over and talking about a Georgia victory and looking forward to the next team. But until then, you guys have a great weekend. hope you have a great time with people that you're around watching dog football and all the other football games going on this weekend. And as always Adam Fisher: Yes, yes. Ted Turner: on Dogs Down South. Go Dogs. Adam Fisher: Good dog.
