- 0:06Speaker 1: All right, So something that you have brought up to
- 0:08Speaker 1: do that I'm really interested in and definitely got a
- 0:12Speaker 1: lot of takes. It's just like the best and worst
- 0:15Speaker 1: music of twenty twenty four. It doesn't necessarily have to
- 0:18Speaker 1: be new stuff, but I'm gonna throw a new stuff.
- 0:21Speaker 2: New to me, it starts up with the most famous
- 0:25Speaker 2: famous thing. At the end of every single year, your
- 0:27Speaker 2: music wrap up in the.
- 0:29Speaker 3: Music app Oh yeah, yeah facts.
- 0:30Speaker 2: Everybody tells you what you thought you listened to, what
- 0:33Speaker 2: you actually did listen to.
- 0:35Speaker 3: Yeah, facts.
- 0:36Speaker 1: So for me, I always have like my staples, like
- 0:41Speaker 1: some kind of mix in that top five to seven
- 0:45Speaker 1: where it's Nas, Michael Jackson, Frank Sinatra and Gunna. Gunna
- 0:51Speaker 1: has been one that has gone up their future. There's
- 0:57Speaker 1: one more young thug there we go usually like that's
- 1:00Speaker 1: kind of like my mix right there. It's kind of weird.
- 1:04Speaker 1: It's like some current rap, some older rap, some classic stuff,
- 1:09Speaker 1: some R and B stuff, but that's kind of where
- 1:11Speaker 1: I'm at. Steely Dan's been in there too this year. Definitely,
- 1:14Speaker 1: I got to start safe for the end here, and
- 1:17Speaker 1: so for me it's kind of been a little bit
- 1:19Speaker 1: of the same. The one that surprised me. That's crept
- 1:21Speaker 1: into my list in the last few years because now
- 1:23Speaker 1: it's a staple. But in the last few years it's
- 1:26Speaker 1: gonna YEA Gunna.
- 1:27Speaker 2: Was never you know that in your recap for twenty
- 1:29Speaker 2: twenty he.
- 1:30Speaker 3: Was in there. I think he was number two or three.
- 1:32Speaker 3: Sometimes it was number one.
- 1:33Speaker 1: I don't remember for this year, man, I didn't know that.
- 1:36Speaker 1: I didn't really pay attention. I remember that though. It
- 1:39Speaker 1: was a mix of those though, for sure. But yeah, man,
- 1:42Speaker 1: that's another funny thing.
- 1:43Speaker 3: Man.
- 1:44Speaker 1: Some people even be like, dang, you still listen to Gunner.
- 1:46Speaker 1: I'm like, bro, I'm a grown ass man. Do you
- 1:50Speaker 1: really think I'm gonna base my musical taste on if
- 1:54Speaker 1: somebody is a real gangster?
- 1:57Speaker 2: So even his latest music, not just his listener, every.
- 2:00Speaker 1: Everything he drops, I listen. I don't like all of it,
- 2:03Speaker 1: you know, obviously, but most of the time I like.
- 2:04Speaker 3: Most of the dogs, you know what I mean.
- 2:06Speaker 2: Like.
- 2:06Speaker 1: The funny thing to me about that realness thing is
- 2:09Speaker 1: like you're by you saying that, that means that you're
- 2:14Speaker 1: inadvertently saying I one hundred percent believe this guy is
- 2:17Speaker 1: a real the other guy is a real thingster it's.
- 2:20Speaker 2: Like watching the movie and believing it's true. If it's
- 2:22Speaker 2: not true.
- 2:23Speaker 1: It's like, bro, if I can't listen to stuff like
- 2:26Speaker 1: that one and two. If the music is good, the
- 2:29Speaker 1: music is good as long as they're not you know,
- 2:31Speaker 1: doing some crazy stuff like you know, you know, raping
- 2:35Speaker 1: or anything like that.
- 2:36Speaker 3: Like that's a that's a whole different thing, you know,
- 2:38Speaker 3: Robert Kelly stuff.
- 2:39Speaker 1: And the funny thing to me, bro is people will
- 2:43Speaker 1: be cool with a dude killing somebody. Bro, They're cool
- 2:48Speaker 1: with that, But let somebody snitch or not be one
- 2:52Speaker 1: hundred percent street and it's like.
- 2:54Speaker 3: Oh, bro, that's the ultimate sin. But the dude, it's
- 3:00Speaker 3: cool with them. The streets is a myth man, YO.
- 3:04Speaker 1: Shout out to Jari Dog because that ever since he
- 3:07Speaker 1: really like tapped into that mindset and just like that
- 3:12Speaker 1: side of things, everything that you see as far as
- 3:15Speaker 1: street goes, like on social media has just been so
- 3:18Speaker 1: fraud bro.
- 3:20Speaker 3: And like I said, people.
- 3:21Speaker 1: Be really leading their life like dudes, that's like living
- 3:26Speaker 1: in that kind of situation or like are in the
- 3:29Speaker 1: streets or whatever you want to call it, bro, Like
- 3:31Speaker 1: some of them look to things like that for like
- 3:34Speaker 1: basically like a guideline of how they should be moving, bro.
- 3:37Speaker 1: And it's like, dog if you not just like, I
- 3:42Speaker 1: don't know, bro, Like I always think about it this way.
- 3:44Speaker 1: Like when I used to go to the studios and stuff,
- 3:48Speaker 1: there was this white boy that.
- 3:49Speaker 3: Used to pull up sometimes.
- 3:51Speaker 1: Like to serve the rappers or whatever. He will pull
- 3:55Speaker 1: up with a book bag and a book bag had
- 3:58Speaker 1: like four or five pounds in it shit, and he's
- 4:01Speaker 1: just bro. He opens it on the ground, shows it
- 4:04Speaker 1: to everybody.
- 4:05Speaker 3: You picked this pig that whatever. Whatever.
- 4:07Speaker 1: And he wasn't like no tough guy or nothing like.
- 4:10Speaker 1: But he looked like a square you know what I mean.
- 4:12Speaker 1: He's coming into like these studios.
- 4:14Speaker 2: He didn't have an image. He had a business.
- 4:16Speaker 1: But Bro, he was just he knew what he was
- 4:18Speaker 1: there for. He wasn't worried about none of the street stuff,
- 4:22Speaker 1: none of that. He was never getting robbed nothing. He's
- 4:24Speaker 1: just hey, I'm pulling up here, I'll do business being
- 4:26Speaker 1: bang boom, I'm out of here, you know what I mean?
- 4:29Speaker 1: If you just doing what you do, bro, who cares?
- 4:33Speaker 3: But anyways, but.
- 4:36Speaker 2: That's an influence of music. I think that's the partially
- 4:39Speaker 2: why the music that comes out is you know, a
- 4:45Speaker 2: direct output of that image that artists try to portray.
- 4:49Speaker 2: But yeah, let's keep going, Yeah, keep going.
- 4:51Speaker 1: So for me, like a lot of the new music
- 4:54Speaker 1: that has entered my playlist in the last year year
- 4:58Speaker 1: and a half, I've become a teaso touchdown fan. That's right,
- 5:01Speaker 1: Like a lot of the stuff that he'd be dropping.
- 5:03Speaker 3: His style is dope. His approach to records, as.
- 5:05Speaker 2: Though Drake had him on their first now Jake had
- 5:08Speaker 2: him on what he had Drake had him on the
- 5:10Speaker 2: track on for All the.
- 5:11Speaker 3: Dogs, For All the Dogs.
- 5:13Speaker 2: Oh okay, that's the first time I ever heard of him, gotcha,
- 5:15Speaker 2: got you? He didn't have them on their first I'm
- 5:19Speaker 2: not trying to cape for Drake. I'm saying that's the
- 5:21Speaker 2: first time I heard of teasing.
- 5:23Speaker 1: Yeah, but yeah, he's He's one that I that I've
- 5:26Speaker 1: been heavy on.
- 5:27Speaker 3: Obviously, the future joints.
- 5:29Speaker 1: I remember you was mentioning that, and I'm gonna let
- 5:31Speaker 1: you get into that. I'm just gonna go kind of
- 5:33Speaker 1: like a quick overview. So obviously the future joints Central
- 5:37Speaker 1: see with somebody that before twenty twenty three, and in
- 5:41Speaker 1: twenty twenty three, I was real tapped in and expecting
- 5:45Speaker 1: to see some dope stuff from him, and I'm not
- 5:47Speaker 1: gonna lie. He let me down a lot in twenty
- 5:49Speaker 1: twenty four. A lot of the joints I heard from
- 5:51Speaker 1: Central C in twenty twenty four just was not hitting
- 5:54Speaker 1: for the way that I enjoyed his previous music. You
- 5:57Speaker 1: know what I mean, Like he's so dope to me that, like,
- 5:59Speaker 1: I feel like a lot out of the twenty twenty
- 6:00Speaker 1: four stuff was like paint by numbers, Like he wasn't
- 6:03Speaker 1: really like I.
- 6:04Speaker 3: Don't know, but shout out to Yoda. Yeah. He reminded
- 6:08Speaker 3: me that the album dropped this year twenty twenty five.
- 6:11Speaker 1: I started listening to it a couple of tracks, saying
- 6:14Speaker 1: cool vibes. So far, I haven't really been able to
- 6:16Speaker 1: really really tap in. I literally was like two or
- 6:18Speaker 1: three records in. But I'm going to finish listening to
- 6:20Speaker 1: it and get my opinion.
- 6:21Speaker 2: For sure I might tap into. I've been listening a
- 6:23Speaker 2: lot a lot more of him in the background.
- 6:25Speaker 1: And then with that it is what it is show
- 6:27Speaker 1: with Cameron and Mace. It kind of made me go
- 6:29Speaker 1: back to listen to Mace again. Like I had mentioned,
- 6:31Speaker 1: Mace was my favorite rapper growing up. He was the
- 6:34Speaker 1: first rapper that really caught my eye as far as like,
- 6:37Speaker 1: let me follow this dude and listen to his record specifically,
- 6:40Speaker 1: because before that, it's like whatever the radio gives you,
- 6:42Speaker 1: whatever you listen to, you don't really like. At least
- 6:45Speaker 1: for me, I wasn't seeking out music at that time.
- 6:47Speaker 3: That was like third grade, you know what I'm saying.
- 6:50Speaker 1: But once I seen Mace on All that performed Feels
- 6:53Speaker 1: So Good, That's when I was like, Hey, this guy's
- 6:57Speaker 1: name is Mace, this song is called Feels So Good.
- 7:00Speaker 1: I gotta find this song, and I got to hear
- 7:03Speaker 1: what else he got, you know what I'm saying. So
- 7:05Speaker 1: Mace is always like one of those pivot, pivotal artists
- 7:08Speaker 1: for me when I think about music Saturday.
- 7:10Speaker 2: He was on my top list when he came out
- 7:12Speaker 2: to yeah.
- 7:13Speaker 1: Man, so yeah, I've been tapping back into the Mace joints.
- 7:17Speaker 1: Shout out to unk. He put me onto Electric Light Orchestra,
- 7:21Speaker 1: which is actually like an older group that I have
- 7:23Speaker 1: mentioned some of the tracks to you and you actually
- 7:25Speaker 1: recognize them, but.
- 7:26Speaker 2: You just didn't know that was That was the same
- 7:28Speaker 2: thing with him when.
- 7:29Speaker 3: He told me that he was going to go check
- 7:31Speaker 3: them out. I was like, who is that? And he
- 7:33Speaker 3: explained it to me.
- 7:33Speaker 1: I mean they've been around since like the seventies, maybe
- 7:35Speaker 1: the sixties, but you know they do a Witchy Woman
- 7:40Speaker 1: is their song. Don't Bring Me Down is their song.
- 7:43Speaker 1: They definitely like a known, a known and like established group.
- 7:49Speaker 1: It's just funny how like you don't hear stuff if
- 7:51Speaker 1: it just doesn't hit your radar, doesn't hear to you.
- 7:55Speaker 1: And probably like the last artist that I'll talk about
- 7:57Speaker 1: that I've been listening to is nine Decks, which is
- 8:01Speaker 1: the dudes that are behind Pete and Bass, which.
- 8:03Speaker 3: Is them older British dudes that be rapping.
- 8:06Speaker 1: Nine in Decks are like the actual group that does
- 8:08Speaker 1: their voices and they got their own music too.
- 8:10Speaker 2: Yeah, that's a crazy story when yeah, bro, and they.
- 8:13Speaker 1: Don't got a lot of vibes out right now, but
- 8:16Speaker 1: the vibes they do got out are super dope.
- 8:18Speaker 3: I like the sound.
- 8:19Speaker 1: Everybody I've showed them to has enjoyed their sound, and
- 8:22Speaker 1: I'm excited like I was for Centralcy.
- 8:25Speaker 3: I'm excited to see what.
- 8:27Speaker 1: They're going to kind of be on and what new
- 8:28Speaker 1: joints they're going to drop, and that's pretty much I
- 8:31Speaker 1: will say that's mostly everything that I've been tapped into
- 8:34Speaker 1: this year twenty twenty four, yep, aside from the normal
- 8:38Speaker 1: stuff that I always got on my playlist.
- 8:39Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 8:40Speaker 2: Yeah, I think for me, one thing that surprised me
- 8:43Speaker 2: and my recap was that it wasn't Drake, because normally
- 8:48Speaker 2: all the way up to probably the leading years is
- 8:51Speaker 2: always Drake. Just go back to Drake, Classic Drake.
- 8:54Speaker 1: So let me ask you a quick question. Do you
- 8:57Speaker 1: think the Kendrick thing had anything to do with you
- 9:00Speaker 1: branching out?
- 9:00Speaker 2: I think so, you think so? And the change in
- 9:03Speaker 2: the style of how he puts music out, Now.
- 9:05Speaker 1: Yeah, that's that's something for sure that I know I've
- 9:08Speaker 1: mentioned and that you've agreed on. Is like some of
- 9:11Speaker 1: the newer stuff he's dropped, it's not it don't have
- 9:13Speaker 1: no replay.
- 9:14Speaker 2: But for me it doesn't because some of my boys
- 9:16Speaker 2: they still listen to it, and they were at the
- 9:18Speaker 2: top of their list, and we like the same music.
- 9:20Speaker 2: And that's that's what kind of surprises me sometimes. But
- 9:25Speaker 2: for what I like him for and what the music
- 9:28Speaker 2: I like to hear from him, and for all the
- 9:30Speaker 2: dogs was good. Maybe it had a few, maybe two
- 9:34Speaker 2: or three texts so listen to. But today I couldn't
- 9:37Speaker 2: named the track list in order as I can every
- 9:40Speaker 2: other album for him. What was at the top of
- 9:44Speaker 2: my list was We Still Don't Trust You Future and
- 9:48Speaker 2: metro Booming. I did not know how much I listened
- 9:52Speaker 2: to that album, and it was probably I could say
- 9:55Speaker 2: three or four months straight. That's the first album I
- 9:58Speaker 2: put on every single time I walked into the gym.
- 10:00Speaker 2: That was it. I know every single song on that album.
- 10:03Speaker 2: I know the order them songs, I know every single word.
- 10:07Speaker 2: And that was shocking to me. That and French Montana.
- 10:10Speaker 2: I didn't mention this last time we talked the French
- 10:12Speaker 2: Montana album Mac and Cheese five Word. I didn't realize
- 10:16Speaker 2: how much I listened to that. It was just not
- 10:19Speaker 2: even in.
- 10:19Speaker 3: The Future before this album.
- 10:21Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, but I'm a big feature.
- 10:23Speaker 3: What about French? Same thing?
- 10:24Speaker 2: French French? No, And that's one thing I've always liked. Future.
- 10:27Speaker 2: I have like fifty six nights. I have Monster, I
- 10:31Speaker 2: have the one with him and Drake. I have a
- 10:35Speaker 2: Dirty Sprite. Yeah, what was the other one. These are
- 10:41Speaker 2: vinyls that I just bought last year. Word and one
- 10:44Speaker 2: more ye oh yeah, yeah, oh yeah, bitch we lay up.
- 10:51Speaker 2: I love that song. But yeah, so I remember the
- 10:55Speaker 2: first I keep forget. It was the first one, we
- 10:57Speaker 2: Don't Trust You, and then the second ones and still yeah,
- 11:00Speaker 2: I didn't listen to the first one much outside of
- 11:03Speaker 2: the big tracks. Yeah, the big two tracks like that and.
- 11:09Speaker 3: Or something like that.
- 11:09Speaker 2: No, no, no, the one where I posted it today.
- 11:12Speaker 2: But so that's why I was like, this ain't for me.
- 11:16Speaker 2: And then the second one came out and I started
- 11:18Speaker 2: listening to it and I didn't stop listening to it.
- 11:20Speaker 3: It was a completely different album.
- 11:22Speaker 2: Yeah, it was just like it was like all the
- 11:24Speaker 2: mixtapes that had something from all the mixtapes put together
- 11:26Speaker 2: for me and I that's what I say. I didn't
- 11:29Speaker 2: acknowledge because of all the Drake stuff and the Kendrick stuff,
- 11:33Speaker 2: and being that it started with the future track. I
- 11:36Speaker 2: really didn't give him the credit of him putting a
- 11:39Speaker 2: good ass album out because I attributed all to oh,
- 11:42Speaker 2: he's trying to bring everybody against Drake kind of.
- 11:45Speaker 3: Yeah, I get what you're saying, like a publicity stunt.
- 11:48Speaker 2: Yeah, but yeah, I still love that album to this day.
- 11:51Speaker 2: All of my playlists is majority of those albums. As
- 11:55Speaker 2: far as old stuff that I taped back into, I
- 11:57Speaker 2: have to say the Locks. And that's because we prepped
- 11:59Speaker 2: for that Lock concert at the beach Em in Orlando.
- 12:03Speaker 3: Again.
- 12:04Speaker 2: Man, yeah, yeah me uncle Zada. We had a good time. Man,
- 12:09Speaker 2: they put it on the hell of a show. So
- 12:11Speaker 2: we had a playlist and I listened to that playlist
- 12:15Speaker 2: of their set list, because that's what I do when
- 12:17Speaker 2: I watched when I when I prepped to go to
- 12:18Speaker 2: a concert, I make a playlist of the set list.
- 12:20Speaker 2: You go to set list dot com and you see
- 12:22Speaker 2: all their latest shows and it's pretty much the same structure.
- 12:25Speaker 1: Yeah, that's something I caught on too late, was you know,
- 12:28Speaker 1: getting the set list of stuff and listening to it,
- 12:30Speaker 1: you know, just to kind of get familiar with it
- 12:32Speaker 1: before I go to the concert.
- 12:33Speaker 2: And I abstoually remember the songs and I and that's
- 12:36Speaker 2: what led to like it was a set list for
- 12:39Speaker 2: the concerts. So I made that playlist. Then it turned
- 12:41Speaker 2: into a Jada Kiss playlist. Then it turned into a
- 12:44Speaker 2: Locks playlist, and like straight up rapping, not just like
- 12:47Speaker 2: the Lady songs, because we saw like on the verses
- 12:50Speaker 2: that he got the Lady songs, he got the bangs,
- 12:52Speaker 2: got the hits, yeah, but it was more like just
- 12:55Speaker 2: straight up rapping. Yeah, And it made me appreciate what
- 12:58Speaker 2: rap was before when they were just rapping just to
- 13:02Speaker 2: see how good each other wrapped. So I liked it.
- 13:05Speaker 2: That was a lot of my listening last year as well.
- 13:08Speaker 3: Yeah, that was something that is always funny to me.
- 13:12Speaker 1: How they talk about Jada Kiss is like people always
- 13:15Speaker 1: love to say that he don't got albums or good
- 13:17Speaker 1: songs or whatever. But for somebody that they always say
- 13:21Speaker 1: that about, when you go back to his library, he
- 13:23Speaker 1: got bangers, bro, It's like he don't got him the
- 13:25Speaker 1: way that you would imagine because he's not like coming
- 13:29Speaker 1: for that commercial appeal, you know what I mean, He's
- 13:31Speaker 1: just giving you good music.
- 13:32Speaker 3: As far as like hip.
- 13:33Speaker 2: Hop fans getting, I was fire.
- 13:35Speaker 3: All.
- 13:35Speaker 2: That just brought back so many memories me in high school.
- 13:39Speaker 2: I was in high school, so I remember being in
- 13:40Speaker 2: high school during that time and just always wearing tims
- 13:44Speaker 2: and big shirts and big jerseys like it was. It
- 13:48Speaker 2: brought back a lot of nostalgia for sure.
- 13:50Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 13:50Speaker 1: Man, and somebody that's kind of on the flip side
- 13:52Speaker 1: of that, corner for me is like French Montana. You
- 13:54Speaker 1: brought him up earlier, and he's somebody that I listened
- 13:57Speaker 1: to very early on because of the connection of Mac
- 14:00Speaker 1: be shout out to my boy Goose. He always was
- 14:02Speaker 1: bumping that Max b and a Wave and Mac and
- 14:05Speaker 1: Cheese and all that. He was from New York, so
- 14:07Speaker 1: he just kind of came down with that energy of
- 14:09Speaker 1: like that kind of music and everything. So I always
- 14:14Speaker 1: listened to his music from back in the day. But
- 14:17Speaker 1: for me, he's always so inconsistent. So it's funny to
- 14:19Speaker 1: hear like that you weren't really a fan, but the
- 14:22Speaker 1: new joint you you listened to it.
- 14:24Speaker 2: And that that's I like his inconsistent side, like I
- 14:27Speaker 2: don't like when he puts out where his normally puts out.
- 14:29Speaker 2: But that Mac and Cheese five wasn't They didn't align
- 14:32Speaker 2: with all the other ones. It was more like I
- 14:35Speaker 2: said that a beat DJ Khaled of rap because he
- 14:38Speaker 2: had a crazy features, crazy melodies, crazy beats, crazy hooks,
- 14:43Speaker 2: simple ass, one two line punch bars, but everything hit.
- 14:47Speaker 2: I loved it all man, it was really that.
- 14:49Speaker 1: To my playlist. I didn't even that wasn't even on
- 14:51Speaker 1: my radar. I didn't listen to anything.
- 14:53Speaker 2: I listened to that a lot, and I still remember
- 14:55Speaker 2: were at a tail game. My boy says, put put
- 14:58Speaker 2: a song that it's gonna hit. It's gonna hit, and
- 15:02Speaker 2: I went straight to that album.
- 15:03Speaker 3: What's on? What's song?
- 15:06Speaker 2: Can it was?
- 15:07Speaker 3: It said, who's on it?
- 15:10Speaker 1: Oh?
- 15:10Speaker 2: No, Now I gotta look at a hold on and
- 15:12Speaker 2: I gotta.
- 15:12Speaker 3: Look that for the people so they can put that
- 15:15Speaker 3: in the car. You know what I'm saying, throw it
- 15:16Speaker 3: up on the way to work.
- 15:18Speaker 2: It was as soon as I hear the intro, I
- 15:22Speaker 2: know I know exactly what it's gonna be, because, like
