Transcript
- 0:21Speaker 1: Hey, everybody, Emily a body here.
- 0:23Speaker 2: You are listening to five minute Friday from Hurdle Bonjour.
- 0:28Speaker 2: I feel like I could say that with a better accent,
- 0:31Speaker 2: but you get the point. I am recording this from Paris.
- 0:35Speaker 2: I'm excited because last night akaa to night in real time.
- 0:42Speaker 2: But as you listened to this last night, I'm here
- 0:44Speaker 2: for breaking four faith Kip Jiegan is going to break
- 0:49Speaker 2: the four minute mile, at least she's attempting to do
- 0:52Speaker 2: that here in Paris. And that is why I'm here.
- 0:56Speaker 2: And it feels so good to be back. It feels
- 1:00Speaker 2: so good to be back, and it has me asking
- 1:02Speaker 2: myself so many questions.
- 1:05Speaker 1: Not why do I live in New York City?
- 1:07Speaker 2: But what is it about the way that I feel
- 1:10Speaker 2: that I'm here that is something I can replicate back
- 1:14Speaker 2: at home. Because don't get me wrong, I absolutely love
- 1:18Speaker 2: living in New York.
- 1:19Speaker 1: I feel like it is so right for me.
- 1:22Speaker 2: But there is this curiosity and excitement and a level
- 1:27Speaker 2: of contentment that I have when I come to Paris
- 1:32Speaker 2: that I want to bring into my life in New York,
- 1:35Speaker 2: and so I'm.
- 1:37Speaker 1: Curious about how to do that. I digress.
- 1:40Speaker 2: That is not the purpose of today's episode to talk
- 1:45Speaker 2: to you about this. Although it is something that's on
- 1:47Speaker 2: my mind, the purpose of today's episode is to talk
- 1:51Speaker 2: to you about something that I am trying to be
- 1:55Speaker 2: better about, and that is going out of my car
- 2:00Speaker 2: comfort zone when I am in large groups of people.
- 2:03Speaker 2: So although I am always down to chat and I
- 2:07Speaker 2: am someone that loves to connect with new people, I
- 2:12Speaker 2: am realizing that when I am in a large group,
- 2:15Speaker 2: I might not be the first person to go up
- 2:18Speaker 2: to other individuals.
- 2:19Speaker 1: And this was highlighted for me.
- 2:22Speaker 2: When I was chatting with a good friend yesterday and
- 2:25Speaker 2: she asked me, have you met anyone new yet on
- 2:28Speaker 2: your trip? And although yes, I've met some new people,
- 2:31Speaker 2: I didn't have any information to give her on them
- 2:35Speaker 2: aside from maybe where they worked.
- 2:38Speaker 1: And it is, I.
- 2:40Speaker 2: Think, something that is really good, beautiful fun to be
- 2:45Speaker 2: an inquisitive person. I would consider myself an inquisitive person,
- 2:50Speaker 2: but I think that there is a benefit to becoming
- 2:54Speaker 2: more invested in the people that I am meeting in
- 2:57Speaker 2: my day to day. I don't know if this sounds weird,
- 3:01Speaker 2: I don't know how it's coming off, but I believe
- 3:03Speaker 2: that by opening myself more up to the people that
- 3:06Speaker 2: I'm coming into contact with. By asking more questions, I
- 3:10Speaker 2: have the ability to then learn more from the people
- 3:14Speaker 2: that I am surrounded by. And that's the whole point, right,
- 3:18Speaker 2: The whole point is if I'm going to be going
- 3:21Speaker 2: out and having experiences, whether they are work related or
- 3:24Speaker 2: just for fun, why not reap the most out of
- 3:28Speaker 2: that situation. Why not benefit from the people that are
- 3:32Speaker 2: around me? And so that's something I'm working on. That's
- 3:35Speaker 2: something that I am going to be conscious of in
- 3:39Speaker 2: the weeks, months and more to come. How can I really,
- 3:46Speaker 2: besides putting my phone away, be where my feet are
- 3:50Speaker 2: and candidly, I think that's going to require me to
- 3:52Speaker 2: get a little uncomfortable, right. I have never sat down
- 3:57Speaker 2: with someone that was naturally inquisitive about me and thought
- 4:00Speaker 2: that it was too much. Of course, I'm sure there
- 4:03Speaker 2: is a way that it could be that way, but
- 4:06Speaker 2: I just want to.
- 4:08Speaker 1: Be a bit more excited.
- 4:10Speaker 2: I don't know if this is a weird thing to
- 4:11Speaker 2: talk about, but it's something that's on my mind and
- 4:13Speaker 2: it's something that I am bringing to you today for
- 4:15Speaker 2: five Minute Friday. I'm curious again, as I talk about
- 4:18Speaker 2: being inquisitive, is this something that you all have ever
- 4:21Speaker 2: wondered thought about, uh and bigger than that, I guess
- 4:24Speaker 2: My listener prompt for you this week is what is
- 4:27Speaker 2: something that you yourself are working on right now? What
- 4:31Speaker 2: is something that you are working on right now to
- 4:35Speaker 2: be better at, to be more conscious of you get
- 4:39Speaker 2: the vibes and now a listener question. Hey, Emily, I
- 4:44Speaker 2: always really appreciate you sharing your updates with us when
- 4:47Speaker 2: you're on the road. I'm curious about the routines that
- 4:51Speaker 2: you spoke of last week in your newsletter. What is
- 4:55Speaker 2: one of your non negotiable daily routines and how did
- 4:58Speaker 2: it come to be that way? Thanks so much for
- 5:01Speaker 2: showing up regularly on social media. You have no idea
- 5:04Speaker 2: how much inspiration I garner from it on the regular. Okay,
- 5:08Speaker 2: what is one of my daily non negotiable routines for
- 5:12Speaker 2: me lately? And this is one that is relatively new
- 5:15Speaker 2: to the mix. It's taking my supplements. So I've always been,
- 5:19Speaker 2: or at least for recent memory, I take AG one daily,
- 5:22Speaker 2: but I've also recently started enjoying creatine, collagen and element
- 5:29Speaker 2: lemonade in a shaker bottle. This is something that I
- 5:33Speaker 2: am determined not to slack on because I've seen some
- 5:38Speaker 2: really great.
- 5:38Speaker 1: Benefits so far.
- 5:39Speaker 2: So I'm seeing muscle definition that I've never had before,
- 5:42Speaker 2: which feels really exciting. And overall, I think I believe
- 5:47Speaker 2: that it's really helping with my recovery. So that's a
- 5:51Speaker 2: routine that's a non negotiable, regardless of where I might be.
- 5:54Speaker 1: And then also morning movement.
- 5:56Speaker 2: Now, I might not be able to do the workout
- 5:58Speaker 2: that I'm hoping to do every single day. For instance,
- 6:01Speaker 2: yesterday I didn't do the strength workout that I wanted
- 6:03Speaker 2: to do, but I did go on a run with
- 6:06Speaker 2: some friends. So with that said, whether it's a run
- 6:10Speaker 2: or a strength workout or even just getting out to
- 6:13Speaker 2: walk around the block, some sort of morning movement is
- 6:16Speaker 2: an absolute non negotiable for my day to day. It
- 6:20Speaker 2: could be something like ten or twenty minutes, and other
- 6:23Speaker 2: days it could be an hour or more depending on
- 6:25Speaker 2: what's on deck. You get the picture that morning movement
- 6:28Speaker 2: is my opportunity to give back to myself and I
- 6:32Speaker 2: believe that it is truly.
- 6:34Speaker 1: A form of self care. That's it for now.
- 6:38Speaker 2: Make sure you're following along on social I'm over Adam
- 6:40Speaker 2: Leabody and at Hurdle Podcast, Another hurdle conquered.
