- 1:16that you are. As you already know, if you're
- 1:18listening to this on the audio platforms, your listenership is
- 1:22greatly appreciated. But if you want to kind of up
- 1:24the ante and head on over to patreon.com/midgard Musings and
- 1:28join the Patreon community that I post a lot of my stuff on now,
- 1:33the lowest tier, which is the Carl tier, is a $3 pledge.
- 1:36You can come and go as you please.
- 1:38You don't have to go month to month if you don't want to, but
- 1:41your support is greatly appreciated over there.
- 1:42It helps with the production of the show and you get to see me
- 1:45and my guests interact on screen.
- 1:48So that's kind of cool, I guess if you think about it, it's very
- 1:52special. Shout out to my Chieftain or
- 1:55scald and above tier patron. So a very special thanks to John
- 2:00Deason, Adam Cage, Michaela, Chris Martino, and Michael
- 2:04Thacker for pledging your support at those elevated tears
- 2:10as if you're listening to this episode or if you're watching
- 2:13this episode, you should have hopefully already gotten your
- 2:17monthly rune polls for all you chiefed in tier and above folks.
- 2:21So that is another perks. Just head on over to
- 2:23patreon.com/midgard Musings. You'll see all the tiers that I
- 2:25offer for support and what benefits or perks come with
- 2:29that. In addition, if you don't want
- 2:31to head over to Patreon, but you want to check out some things
- 2:33that I've done project wise, I've got a couple of
- 2:36announcements to make in regards to that.
- 2:38All of this will be LinkedIn, the annotated show notes of the
- 2:41podcast, wherever you're catching this on.
- 2:43So the first one is my book, The Saga of the Heron that Flies to
- 2:46Hell. It is available for digital
- 2:48download and paperback copy on a number of different platforms.
- 2:51Information for that will be linked down below.
- 2:54You can read that story around your table side dinners or
- 2:57campfires, whatever. It's cool story.
- 2:59It's a bit personal, it's been shared around many a campfire by
- 3:03myself and I would love for you to share around your campfires
- 3:07as well if you so choose. More than that, we've got a rune
- 3:12class, a rune study class, not really rune study, but a but a
- 3:15rune casting course that I am leading.
- 3:19Enrollment is open now, it's called the Living Food Arc.
- 3:21Links for that is also in the show notes, but if you go to
- 3:24randomheathenramblings.com/the Living Food Arc, all of the
- 3:29information about that is posted there.
- 3:31So just you can e-mail me if you have any questions about what
- 3:36I'm offering. But it is my legacy to teach
- 3:39this method of rune casting. It's a tried and true method
- 3:42that I've come to learn after almost a decade of time spent
- 3:47studying the runes and using this method as close to
- 3:52historically a tested methods as as we know of here and today.
- 3:57And then lastly, for those of you that aren't aware, I have
- 4:00this musical project. Yes, I use AI to do it, but all
- 4:03of the lyrics for all the songs that I'm going to be talking
- 4:06about have been composed by myself.
- 4:10I've incorporated some of my own rhythmic, you know, drum beats
- 4:15and stuff that are enhanced by the audio software.
- 4:17But that album is a 14 track album called Till the Final
- 4:20Twilight Dies. It is dropping on May 1st.
- 4:24It's not dropping on streaming platforms.
- 4:25You're going to be able to listen to it on YouTube or
- 4:27whatever. But if you pre-order a copy
- 4:29between now and I think it's April 24th to 25th, you get a
- 4:34discounted price. But when it drops on May 1st,
- 4:38there's going to be a listening party.
- 4:39We're going to be live streaming the album in its entirety on
- 4:42YouTube and Facebook links for that's going to be in the show
- 4:45notes as well. So RSVP if you want to listen to
- 4:48Till the final twilight Dies in its entirety on May 1st, I think
- 4:53it's 7:00 PM Central time. It's going to be a grand time.
- 4:57So head on over there, check it all out.
- 4:58Links are going to be annotated down below or over here,
- 5:02wherever it is that you find your your show note information.
- 5:04So now that we've got all of the fun housekeeping stuff out of
- 5:08the way, you listen to me ramble on about that for the last
- 5:10couple of minutes. We're going to bring on our
- 5:12guests for this week. We're going to be talking this
- 5:14week about a topic that hits close to home for me and my
- 5:19guest today. And probably and hopefully other
- 5:22men specifically because we're going to be talking about kind
- 5:25of the this this problem, if you will, of of the lack of
- 5:32masculine men, right. So we're reclaiming masculine
- 5:36men or the masculine identity. You know, Forge not found my
- 5:40guest this week is a return guest.
- 5:42His name is John. The lot checking in from
- 5:46Louisiana at this point in time, I believe.
- 5:50So we got him on the stage now. And yeah, welcome back to the
- 5:53show, John. Thanks for reaching out and
- 5:55wanting to be here. And thanks for.
- 5:58Yeah, just thank you. Good to see you again.
- 6:01Same here, Sir. Thank you.
- 6:03So yeah, we were talking offline.
- 6:05You're down in Louisiana, of course, I'm in Tennessee and a
- 6:08lot of times our weather is quite often running
- 6:12simultaneous. You know, you might be a little
- 6:14muggier or hotter depending on the day of the week, but we're
- 6:16kind of running side by side. We got some nice warm days, nice
- 6:19cool nights. Holding on to that for this
- 6:23week. I think it's probably the last
- 6:25week we're probably going to, I don't know, it could, it has
- 6:27gotten pretty chilly mid-april. I I I can say that.
- 6:30I mean, down here Easter weekend usually we have a freeze, it'll
- 6:35get warm. And then also Easter weekend we
- 6:37have a freeze. And this is the first time in
- 6:42all of hit head, so I've been alive that I can think of.
- 6:46We didn't have the freeze. It's actually like this is
- 6:50comfortable. Right, Yeah, I remember being
- 6:54here in in the South for the last 20 some years.
- 6:57I there was like this, there's like this rule for people when
- 7:01they start planting certain things is they, they don't plant
- 7:04certain things until after Easter because of risk of frost.
- 7:10You have. Earth inside or in a greenhouse
- 7:13that to where everything can be protected from the weather.
- 7:17Yeah, yeah. But like wherever, whatever the
- 7:20time of year, it is like Easter has always been that kind of
- 7:22like Mark of like, OK, after Easter you you're you're
- 7:26probably pretty OK with without running the.
- 7:31Risk just gets hot as spell after Easter.
- 7:34Yeah, of course. Now where I'm from in New York,
- 7:36you know, I remember, I remember getting snow up into the middle
- 7:40of April, like 6 to 8 inches. Now it's gone in like a week,
- 7:44but it can happen. Yeah, I remember all being up
- 7:49north in Chicago and Boston and Pennsylvania and everything.
- 7:55Yeah, no, it's not uncommon up through sometimes beginning of
- 8:00June to actually still have snow.
- 8:04Yeah, well, I should. I remember going out towards
- 8:08going across the Rockies in June and running into a snowstorm in
- 8:14Colorado. Oh, yeah, on Colorado.
- 8:17There's somewhere up there, Yeah.
- 8:20Vale, Gunnison, going up toward Salt Lake.
- 8:24Yeah, it's not a common port. In that, yeah, they have their
- 8:30own. They have their own weather
- 8:33system up there that just kind of does its own thing for sure.
- 8:35Oh. Yeah.
- 8:37But now that we've talked about the weather and how's your mom
- 8:41and them and all that you had? Yeah.
- 8:45Yeah. That's good.
- 8:46That's good. Mine's dead.
- 8:48So I guess she's good too. Yeah.
- 8:50But I say that with love. Mom, she's good with love.
- 8:55I say that with love. I mean, it's it is what it is.
- 8:58She's. Hopefully everyone's ancestors
- 9:01are. Doing she's with dad.
- 9:03Yeah, I mean, that's that's they're together.
- 9:05So it is good. But you had you had reached out.
- 9:11We talk honestly like for the listeners and then stuff like
- 9:13John and I, we, we, we, we have a pretty open line of
- 9:17communication where we're just, you know, send the music videos
- 9:22or we're talking about music or shit that pisses us off or
- 9:25whatever at the time. But you had expressed an
- 9:29interest to come back on the show and talk about something
- 9:31that was kind of on your heart. And this is this, you know, men
- 9:36need to be men again, kind of a thing.
- 9:40And that's a, that's a, that's a pretty broad statement.
- 9:44I feel like, you know what, what that means to some might not
- 9:47mean the same thing as as others.
- 9:48So I wanted to just kind of hit the ground running with it and
- 9:52hear from you what, what does that mean to you?
- 9:56And, and you know, why does it matter now to to kind of call to
- 10:01attention where, you know, men need to be men again, What does
- 10:05that mean to you? What does that look like to you
- 10:07and why is it so important? Well, for the most part, men
- 10:14need to step up and take control in a lot of ways.
- 10:23No, I'm not saying that they need to subjugate other people.
- 10:28However, I mean for a lack of better terms, they need to grow
- 10:34some damn balls again and actually do what they need to
- 10:38do. Men need to start actually
- 10:40getting back into work. Everything this day and age is
- 10:46for the last. I mean, throughout my lifetime,
- 10:51they've been kicked down. They've been told they need to
- 10:53do things that honestly has never benefited them.
- 10:57They need to get back into trades.
- 10:59They need to get back into actual working again where they
- 11:01actually provide. I see enough online of here in
- 11:06America and in Europe, mostly England where they go on off and
- 11:10talk about, oh, they can't afford anything.
- 11:11And it's like, well, if you got into electrical, you got into
- 11:14plumbing, you got into everything else.
- 11:18Warren trade, you can benefit exceptionally well off of it.
- 11:25You can afford all the stuff that actually needs to be
- 11:27because this day and age the bare minimum to actually make a
- 11:30buy is look for just one person alone is literally 20 bucks an
- 11:35hour. Honestly it's closer to 30 bucks
- 11:40an hour. Yeah, $20.00 an hour is a wage
- 11:44that, you know, that's bare minimum.
- 11:47That's not for. Insurances or anything else I.
- 11:51Mean. That's just, I worked at Home
- 11:53Depot. I quit that job because of they
- 11:55can't cut my hours down. I quit it last week and that's
- 11:59because they were making, I was making $18.00 an hour but my way
- 12:05but my hours could wage between $30.00.
- 12:08I mean, 35A week all the way down to 12 hours a week and I'm
- 12:14like, there's no way I can live off of this.
- 12:17Hell no. And because of recent events in
- 12:20the last few years, I I'm forced to live back with my parents and
- 12:25I'm like, I'm 41. I was it's like, and, and a lot
- 12:29of ways it's extremely degrading for anyone should have to do
- 12:34that. And it's like no sitting around
- 12:38calculating. And then afterwards, I've seen
- 12:40from other sources the bare minimum is to actually be able
- 12:44to do for a single person to get by is 30 bucks an hour.
- 12:48So the basis of men of anyone, not just men, but anyone trying
- 12:53to make it by the model that we have no no longer works.
- 13:05And we have to be looking at, and like I'm saying, not just
- 13:08men, everyone needs to be looking at further on.
- 13:11If a man wants to provide and his woman doesn't have to go to
- 13:14work, he's got to be making closer to 7080 hours an hour.
- 13:20Yeah. He basically needs to have an
- 13:21income that you know that counts for two, two people.
- 13:27Yeah, you. Know what I mean?
- 13:28Which this day and age even I make it 30 bucks an hour.
- 13:31I mean, I'm I'm going back into trucking where I'll be making at
- 13:35least 1200 a week take home after taxes.
- 13:40But still, it's like literally that's not even cutting it on
- 13:45the basis for two people to live upon this day and age.
- 13:49Yeah. And I think, you know, another
- 13:51thing to probably talk about with regards to that is you
- 13:55know, the, the the baseline at which we're talking, right?
- 13:59Because OK, we're talking salaries, income to live
- 14:06comfortably, but what is comfort, right?
- 14:08My level of comfort might be different than yours, might be
- 14:10different from another person's, right?
- 14:12So, you know, you start talking about can I go, man, 2530 bucks
- 14:16an hour. And then you got this other
- 14:18fellow over here who's like, I'm sitting pretty on 18 an hour and
- 14:22I don't have a need in the world.
- 14:25So is, is, is, is a wage and is the living wage and, and all of
- 14:29these things and how we is, is that the baseline that we should
- 14:33be measuring it up to as far as what it is to be a man these
- 14:36days or, or is there something else?
- 14:38Is there something more? You're right.
- 14:41Have men lost their direction? Are, are there, is there
- 14:43anything that happens from a boy?
- 14:47What we're, we're talking, you know, children, young, young
- 14:50males that are growing up into their youth, their young
- 14:56manhood. Is there anything that we have
- 15:01nowadays that can transition them from being a boy into a
- 15:05man? Like a rite of passage or
- 15:07anything 'cause I, I haven't seen it.
- 15:10I haven't seen it in quite some time.
- 15:11You know women have. Women are brought, yeah, women
- 15:16are brought through. They have a they have a bylaw.
- 15:20Women are brought through into womanhood through nature.
- 15:23I mean, there's certain things women look forward, such as
- 15:27marriage, childbirth, family rearing.
- 15:31That's what program I'm I'm sorry, I don't know another term
- 15:37to put, but that what that's what programs women to become
- 15:41women. Well, it's in their biology.
- 15:43I mean, when, when a, when a girl starts having her period,
- 15:47right, like the, the menstrual cycle, like that is their, their
- 15:49biological right of passage into womanhood.
- 15:52What do men have? They're they're like,
- 15:55biologically speaking, you know what I mean?
- 15:58Like there was there were like cultures throughout history have
- 16:02had rites of passage for boys into manhood, like to go out and
- 16:07and be removed from their the comforts of their society to be
- 16:14put through an ordeal, right to kind of prove themselves to
- 16:18transition from that I'm a boy. I need help to now.
- 16:21I'm a man and I help others kind of a thing.
- 16:25Men are reached out through social programming.
- 16:31I mean, then go out the their first time.
- 16:34I mean, this has been history, their first time, their first
- 16:40being able to grow stuff, provide for the family and the
- 16:44community, and then the basis of what men will initiate other men
- 16:50through usually. I mean, I hate the show, but I I
- 16:54have to use it for an example invitees.
- 16:59The wedding ceremony where he had to run through the gauntlet
- 17:03of every man beating him down. And he had.
- 17:07To win at that point, yeah, the the military did stuff like
- 17:13that. I don't know if they still do,
- 17:14but they used to, you know, the Marine.
- 17:16They do, but yeah, no, it's not spoken of the same thing as
- 17:22those drone structures are laying their hands on you.
- 17:25No drone structures have no problem beating the livid shit
- 17:27out of someone. Especially in the Marines.
- 17:31Because I went from Marines and. That hazing that that you
- 17:35basically walked down the line and.
- 17:38More than likely in the marine boot camp it was more of you
- 17:41screwed up. You had the everlasting frat
- 17:43beat out of you. I got piled dried on my third
- 17:47date by the drill instructor and that was a senior drill
- 17:49instructor, not one of the younger ones.
- 17:54You did. You went to the Marine Corps.
- 17:56Yeah. And it's like, no, that's just
- 18:00the way it is. Men learn through pain and
- 18:03physical exertion. That's just how men learn.
- 18:08Yeah, that's the you. Know that hazing through trial
- 18:12by fire. Right.
- 18:15And So what, what exists for that now?
- 18:18Like when when you talk to me and you and you reached out and
- 18:21you're like, you know, man, you know, men need to be men again.
- 18:23They need to kind of become what they need to become.
- 18:27This is like when did you first realize that something was
- 18:31missing and how men are being shaped today?
- 18:33Like what was, what was the moment that you saw that big
- 18:39problem that you wanted to? Honestly, honestly goes back,
- 18:43I'd have to say probably in my teenagehood, which is I'm 40
- 18:46ones now, so let's just say 25, let's say 30 years ago.
- 18:52Yeah, yeah, I grew up. I mean, I read books that
- 18:57honestly, that whole thing of your reading level only dictates
- 19:01this. I said the hell of that.
- 19:03I started reading every book I could get a hold of that they
- 19:05said was out of my league because I was just more of F
- 19:08you. I was rebellious against him on
- 19:10that. And the first book I ever read
- 19:13was crap. What was that?
- 19:17Animal Farm? My second book in 7th grade I
- 19:21read was War and Peace. Do you remember how old you were
- 19:25when you first read Animal Farm? Yeah, I was in 6th grade.
- 19:30That was damn near right around that age.
- 19:32I mean, we're talking like 12-13, something like that
- 19:35maybe. Yeah, yeah, between 12 and 14
- 19:39and then I went off and read a Las Mohicans.
- 19:44Then I read Clockwork Orange and I read them because they told me
- 19:56this was beyond your level to what you should read.
- 19:58And I was like, after you. I'm going to read them anyway.
- 20:01Yeah, you can't tell me what I'm going to read.
- 20:03I, I, I look at words and I can put sentences together.
- 20:07I'll read what I damn well want to read.
- 20:08Yeah, I don't know if you remember that like dedicated
- 20:12reading for your grade level of reading and everything graph
- 20:15that went on in the 90s. But it was like.
- 20:19Yeah, Oh the hell of that crap. I'm like, no, I'm reading all
- 20:22this stuff you don't want me to read.
- 20:23Why? Because I always want me to read
- 20:26it so. I was first of all, like when I
- 20:30was a kid in like, like kindergarten, you know, I was, I
- 20:34was the kid who could read before all the other children in
- 20:37my class knew how. And so that was like the start
- 20:45for me to pick up books because we didn't have Internet, we
- 20:49didn't have tablets, we didn't have all this digital media to
- 20:53consume, you know what I mean? Television time was limited.
- 20:57So all of the all of the information that we received,
- 21:01imagine our generation, right, was through through books.
- 21:03And I remember, you know, I was in like my sister and I were
- 21:08four years apart. So, you know, I was, I was in
- 21:12like the between the 4th and 6th grade, you know, So again, that
- 21:16like 10 to 14 age bracket. And she's four years my, my
- 21:21junior and I'm picking up the books.
- 21:23I'm, I'm picking up Tolkien. I'm reading The Hobbit to her
- 21:27out loud. I'm reading Lord of the Rings.
- 21:28I'm reading Bram Stoker's Dracula.
- 21:30I'm reading Mary Shelley's Frankenstein.
- 21:32I'm reading Jules Verne a journey to the center of the
- 21:35earth. I'm reading these stories and,
- 21:38and stuff, which you know, for by and large, like one would say
- 21:45like, well, that's a bit out of your league to read.
- 21:48They're not going to understand all those things.
- 21:50I don't, but I, I, I loved it. I, I love those, those stories,
- 21:55you know what I mean? And, and my sister did too.
- 21:56She, she was hearing it through me speaking it.
- 22:00But those, you know, they, they, they had a, they had something
- 22:05to teach, you know what I mean? Like Frankenstein for example,
- 22:08or the understanding what the monster was in being as reject,
- 22:15you know, reject. Yeah, and Frank and the Monster.
- 22:18Frankenstein was literally just a victim of the times.
- 22:22Of the times, right you know, he was what his creator made him to
- 22:27be and he was hated for it not by his design but just because
- 22:31he was such a you know, he was rejected because everybody else
- 22:34had this idea of what it was supposed to be and.
- 22:37Yeah, he, he was a freak, right? And, you know, like, I think of
- 22:44what like, so talk me through a bit, if you will, you know,
- 22:49'cause you have this, you have this idea of this opinion that
- 22:52there's, there's, there's either no or less formation of what it
- 23:02means to be a man, you know, coming into manhood and being
- 23:05defined through hardship and all this.
- 23:07What was it like for you in your youth, your childhood, your
- 23:11youth coming into manhood? What were some of the things
- 23:14that you think defined your transition into into manhood?
- 23:19Some of those rites of passage, some of those key moments that
- 23:24really put your put you to the test?
- 23:27Because I have some, but I wanted to ask you if you had
- 23:30some that you would be willing to share.
- 23:33Well, honestly, growing up, I honestly can't picture anything
- 23:38that did. I mean, I, I was raised
- 23:40Catholic. I went and did the what the hell
- 23:45do you call it, what they consider the trial on a manhood
- 23:49where you pick up your beliefs and go with it.
- 23:56I'm not familiar with the. Is it like a?
- 23:58Yeah, I can't remember the damn term.
- 24:00Confirmation, not confirmation. Yes.
- 24:03Yeah. Is it confirmation?
- 24:05OK, thank you on that. But still, it's just like, oh,
- 24:11remember these lines, remember those and you're good.
- 24:14And it's kind of like besides my father taking me out hunting
- 24:21every winter, multiple times in winter, and honestly, I'd have
- 24:29to say me fighting everyone in school every day, like 3 fights
- 24:32a day with people, I can't think of anything.
- 24:35And even then all that was just hollow because it's like wow,
- 24:40you just remember these lines and oh, you're good to go.
- 24:44And it's just like, like I said, everything was just hollow.
- 24:48And it's like that's a big thing that we in western society,
- 24:53especially American Society. I can't speak for Europe and I'm
- 24:56not going to, but for us here in America, there is no passage in
- 25:03the manhood. And people could blame whatever
- 25:07political, religious jargon on that all they want, but truth is
- 25:13we don't have anything here. And, and and that's what to the
- 25:18society to do that, not a government mandate, which we
- 25:22wouldn't want it as a government mandate in the first place.
- 25:24No, no, yeah, it's it's on the responsibility of the the people
- 25:28who are raising these, the the youth, you know what I mean?
- 25:34The mentors like strong male mentorship.
- 25:39Is it? It seems like it's a dying
- 25:41breed. Yeah, it is.
- 25:44You know what I mean? Like there's, you know, what's
- 25:47like you talk about, you know, these hollow requirements.
- 25:50Ah, just recite this prayer, learn this credo, whatever mean,
- 25:54like it's, it's empty. There's no, there's nothing that
- 25:57you're going to get out of it if you do it.
- 25:58So what's the initiation? What's or what's the initiative,
- 26:02right? Why should I learn all this if
- 26:03I'm not getting anything out of it?
- 26:05So, and I feel like, I don't know about you, but I feel like
- 26:10our generation was probably the last one to cultivate any sense
- 26:18of hardship and learning through hardship because most of
- 26:23everything in the last 20 years or more has been formulated
- 26:28around comfort, making it easy. You know what I mean?
- 26:32Like this, this passive, just getting by and not contributing
- 26:36anything to earn it for men. And you know, I'm saying, and
- 26:41this is the theme of the podcast, right?
- 26:42So for folks that, you know, listen or whatever, you know,
- 26:45I'm, I'm pretty diverse with, with crowds and and identity and
- 26:49all that. But we're talking specifically
- 26:51about, you know, masculinity and, and how what it meant and
- 26:56what it still means to be a strong and how that how that has
- 27:00been misconstrued into, you know, toxicity, You know, are
- 27:06men actually weaker now or are they just untested?
- 27:09Do they have that potential in them and they just haven't been
- 27:14pushed to the levels of being bringing that, bringing that
- 27:18out? You know, I think that's, I
- 27:20think that's really the case, you know, because I, I, I asked
- 27:23you about your, you know, past and, and if there was any
- 27:26moments in time of, you know, there were, there was, there
- 27:30were some in mine that, you know, I made a joke about this
- 27:34one time because I used to work or used to help out on a, on a
- 27:40farm in, in my youth. And then we raised beef cattle.
- 27:45So three days a week, I was out there before the sun came up to
- 27:52muck out their stalls, give them new feed, make sure they were
- 27:56watered right, and do all the things that a farm hand needed
- 27:59to do on a beef cattle farm. And I made a joke, like, years
- 28:05ago. I'm like, yeah, it was something
- 28:07along the lines of, you know, some of you haven't had to
- 28:12shovel cow shit in -20° temperatures.
- 28:18And it shows like and it shows. Like that that.
- 28:21That type of work is not rewarding in the sense of you
- 28:26get anything out of it in the moment, but it's rewarding
- 28:29because you are facing brutal temperatures, it's cold, it's
- 28:34uncomfortable, you hurt when you're out there working.
- 28:41That's been life that's here with your arms inside the OA
- 28:46birth canal of a cow slipping A calf around inside so then it
- 28:51don't end up getting, no, it don't end up getting its neck
- 28:54pops coming out. Oh, you've done that.
- 28:57You've been elbow deep in in a cow.
- 28:59Yeah, yeah. No, I I don't suggest that to
- 29:03anyone, but it's something that needs to be done.
- 29:06I've watched that, I've watched it happen.
- 29:08I was a kid, man. And I, you know, 'cause we had
- 29:10steers. So they were all castrated
- 29:12bulls, obviously, but I've been on a dairy farm and I saw a cow
- 29:17giving birth and farmer had to come out there and just reach up
- 29:25in there and help nature take. I'm like, you don't talk about
- 29:30being like traumatized, whatever.
- 29:33Seeing that, yeah, I did that when I was.
- 29:35Talking to 7. Years old.
- 29:36I did that when I was 12 or 13 years old.
- 29:38Yeah, I don't suggest it to anyone, but that's not a thing
- 29:41of you get a choice to it's someone has to do it because if
- 29:45not, both the calf and the cow can die, right?
- 29:50Yeah. So it's it's a thing of, yeah,
- 29:53just get in there and do it. But also, I'd have to say
- 29:58probably I had a little better point of a test of manhood to
- 30:02actually transition on the basis of I'm an Eagle Scout, so I had
- 30:06to do the Eagle project. And now there's the thing, you
- 30:11know, and, and I might, I might be reaching into an area that
- 30:17might piss some of the listeners off.
- 30:19I don't know. But like when it came to the
- 30:21scouts, right, that Boy Scouts, Eagle Scouts, these were four
- 30:26young men, you know, boys, young men, right?
- 30:30And then what, what happened with the, the Boy Scouts of
- 30:33America? They start, you know, changing
- 30:36the the rules and and stuff to allow.
- 30:40How do I put it to where it's actually audience friendly?
- 30:43I mean the terminology. Biological, biological males it
- 30:47the, the terms become muddled and this is where I'm this is
- 30:52this is part of the of the show where I'm like, let's avoid the
- 30:54abstract titles, right? What is a man and how do you
- 30:58define what a man is? Let's focus on traits that are
- 31:03tied to action, their behaviors, the biology, all of that, right?
- 31:07Like what is a man? You can't, you can't appeal to
- 31:13the to the I don't want to get political.
- 31:17You know, you can't, you can't appeal to the liberals with
- 31:19this. It's it's, it is what it is.
- 31:21They are who they are and your identity, as valid as that might
- 31:25be, nature is what nature is. Biology is what biology is too.
- 31:30And you know, I'm not here to I'm not here to contest that.
- 31:34I'm just saying like I'm. Trying to come up with
- 31:35terminology that isn't offensive to younger viewers because there
- 31:43are people that listen to those that have their kids listening.
- 31:45And I don't want to say something that, and I know last
- 31:50time I went back and listened to it, I'm like, I should not have
- 31:52used that term. I should have changed it for
- 31:56something else. And I understand that because
- 31:59people have kids. So I'm trying to come up with
- 32:01terms that are conducive to other people listening to
- 32:06something that their kids could actually hopefully get something
- 32:12from, not just, oh, we can't let them listen to this because of
- 32:16the language involved. Sure.
- 32:18So that's kind of my thing is I'm trying to search for
- 32:21terminology. But let's put it this way, my
- 32:27family has never, I mean, put it this way, my, I was raised on
- 32:32lethal weapon to die hard. My family had no problem.
- 32:38My parents had no problem showing us stuff.
- 32:41As I got older and age, we watched stuff like 8mm when I
- 32:46was in my mid teens. Pulp Fiction, which if you
- 32:50remember when Pulp Fiction came out, what that was like, no one
- 32:53had ever seen anything like that.
- 32:54It was extremely strong from the time it came out.
- 32:58Yeah, we were talking about that here the other day, about the
- 33:01way movie ratings were back then.
- 33:03You know, like what was PG then is not PG now.
- 33:07And and. Actually, and a lot of times
- 33:09it's kind of reverse. It's kind of like what was PG
- 33:11then is well what was rated PG13 or so then is now more PG.
- 33:16And I've seen some stuff where it was like what would have been
- 33:20PGA strong PG13 then? I mean now is AG rating back
- 33:25then? I can't believe kids are being
- 33:27exposed to that type of stuff. Yeah, exactly.
- 33:29Oh, yeah, no. And I'm like, especially the
- 33:32pawn shop scene of the Pulp Fiction.
- 33:34I'm like, yeah, no kids. Anyone under the age of 16 does
- 33:37not need to watch Pulp Fiction. Yeah, I would maybe.
- 33:41Not it's. Certain things just don't need
- 33:44to enter those impressionable minds.
- 33:48And first of all, like everything is so accessible now.
- 33:54Everything is uncensored if, and you don't have to really even
- 33:58like, cuz back in the day, like back when we were kids, like if
- 34:00you wanted to, if you wanted to get something that was
- 34:02uncensored and raunchy, like you had to like kind of go through
- 34:06some moves, man. You had to kind of be sneaky
- 34:08about. You had to really work for it.
- 34:10Now it's just like the quick Google search.
- 34:13Or you had to know enough people to where it's like, yeah, at the
- 34:17age of 14, saw my first porno mag and it was a little bit
- 34:23late. Oh my God.
- 34:24It was like, Oh my God. But wow, at the same time.
- 34:26And I'm just like, I mean, that's complete mind blowing at
- 34:33that point. And at that time they didn't
- 34:36really, there was no filters on stuff to airbrush stuff.
- 34:40So it's like, yeah, you saw everything raw as it was.
- 34:43Right. And part of that, I still kind
- 34:45of wish they'd go back to it because it's like, yeah, this is
- 34:48reality of what the anatomy looks like.
- 34:52But I'm like, yeah, a 14 year old does not need to be watching
- 34:57porn, even though I know in the course of human history that's
- 35:00nothing new of 14 year olds impregnating women.
- 35:03And growing up in San Antonio, I saw enough 12 to 14 year old
- 35:07girls that was already pregnant, right?
- 35:11And being here in Louisiana, living in New Orleans, I saw
- 35:14enough of it there also so. But still, it's like there needs
- 35:19to be some level of decency before the transition into
- 35:25adulthood. When a woman transitions through
- 35:29her cycles, when she finally starts having that whole aspect
- 35:33of her life, that's her transition, even though her
- 35:36mentality has evolved before then by at least two years.
- 35:43Then it always takes longer for them to.
- 35:46They tend to hold on to the innocence longer and then it
- 35:51basically once it happens it's like, oh shit, the floodgates
- 35:54just opened. Yeah.
- 35:58Do you think that men are inherently weaker now and today,
- 36:05or are they just? Oh hell yeah, definitely they
- 36:08are. Why are honestly, it's just an
- 36:15American Society alone. And like I said, I'm only
- 36:18talking from the aspect of America.
- 36:20Even though I talk to I talk to more people from over in England
- 36:23and Germany and Italy, Poland more so than here online, but in
- 36:31American Society, because that's where we live around and that's
- 36:34the only one I'm going to try. I'm going to ice first hand
- 36:39accounts here in America, men are weaker.
- 36:46I mean, I see that talking to people online, teenage boys
- 36:54mature and responsible than the ones here.
- 36:59And a good bit of that is because we delight
- 37:05responsibility in our adulthood compared to what goes on in
- 37:10Europe. I mean hell, someone could
- 37:14finally drink here in Europe. It's in some places it's 16
- 37:19years old. 18 by law, but a lot of places don't care. 16 years
- 37:23old. Yeah, age of consent.
- 37:27I mean, you know when you drink when you already.
- 37:29Like, you know what I need to, Yeah, they're like, I already
- 37:32need to start worrying about my health.
- 37:34Yeah. Instead of people like me who
- 37:37are 41 years old and. But what do you think makes the,
- 37:43what do you think makes the, the benchmark of a stronger or
- 37:48weaker man? You know, is it, is it really
- 37:52that are they just biologically weaker and, and all that?
- 37:55Or are they just untested? Have they just not been pushed
- 37:58to the point of being tested? Because I'm sure you realize
- 38:05this, you know, the human body, the human species, right?
- 38:09We're capable of so much more than what we give ourselves
- 38:12credit for. And a lot of the times it's
- 38:14because we haven't been pushed to our limits.
- 38:19It's, you know, we think too much up here instead of acting
- 38:25from, from from from here, from the heart.
- 38:28You know what I mean? We think too much with our
- 38:29brains. We overthink.
- 38:30I can't do this. It's too scary.
- 38:32It's too hard. It's too this.
- 38:34It's too that. Well, who?
- 38:35What's speaking at that point? We're trying to rationalize
- 38:38something. Whereas that primal part of us
- 38:40that, that, that inherent, you know, primal energy, right?
- 38:45We are capable because it's built into our DNA to do it.
- 38:48It's our, our ancestors had to do it.
- 38:51So it's, it's, it's something that was passed down to us.
- 38:55But how is that energy and how is that gift being cultivated in
- 39:00modern men nowadays? How are they being proven?
- 39:03How are they being tested? How are they being pushed?
- 39:07There's, there's, there's, there's less of that going on.
- 39:09I think you know and. There is, oh there definitely is
- 39:13a majority of Gen. Z this day and age.
- 39:19There are more forthright and less PC and they don't really
- 39:23have a filter. However, majority and by the age
- 39:27of $20.00 in debt because they are gambling fanatics, they have
- 39:36no it's a mixture of everything above and honestly I don't know
- 39:54how to reverse that to get them back to a basis of what is.
- 39:59The whole thing I'd have to say is that they are seriously just
- 40:03lost in the forest. They can't see the forest
- 40:06through the trees. And yet being raised on, I mean,
- 40:12and our generation was also victim mentality, except they've
- 40:18sunk line and sinker the entire thing, the entire paragraph of
- 40:28victim mentality. We took it in like, OK, yeah,
- 40:31there's small little bites of it you got to take and everything.
- 40:34And we do have our issues over it, but they swallow that thing
- 40:37completely whole. And now they want an easy way
- 40:42out of it. And it's like, no, you sunk
- 40:44yourself into this. It it's, it's not college debt
- 40:46anymore. It's the full on just your
- 40:50gambling addiction has actually LED you into worse than it would
- 40:53have been if you actually went to college.
- 40:58Well, how do they even how do they even have the money to
- 41:00gamble with to begin with if they're if they're not, you know
- 41:03what I mean? Like where where is that even
- 41:04coming from? And it's, you know, the you
- 41:10talked about before, you know, trades and learning skills that
- 41:14can enhance a society, right? Like if you, if you had to come
- 41:21up with, you know, like your doomsday posse or whatever your
- 41:25tribe in in a post apocalyptic world, right, you'd want to,
- 41:29you'd want to have people who knew how to get clean water, how
- 41:33to grow edible food, how to build a structure, how to, you
- 41:37know what I mean? Like you'd want these people
- 41:41that knew how to useful. People that can actually do
- 41:43stuff. Resources, right, exactly how to
- 41:46live off the land and on all these things.
- 41:48So I feel like and with men, right, these are these are these
- 41:53would be seemingly fundamental skills that all men should know
- 41:56and and all men are not measured equal, right, That I don't know.
- 42:00The first. I don't know a lot about, you
- 42:02know, car mechanics. Does that make me less of a man
- 42:05than you? If you know more than me, Maybe
- 42:08not, but it's more about, you know, masculinity as a practice
- 42:13versus masculinity as an identity, right, because you
- 42:16said before, right, all these Gen.
- 42:18Z, you know, kids and and whatever that you know, they,
- 42:21they, they, they talk, they, they, they yap their job.
- 42:23Well, I don't give a shit what you say.
- 42:25All right, what can you do? Show me your work does your talk
- 42:30back up your or does your walk back up your talk right Can your
- 42:35can your ass cash the checks that your mouth writes and so.
- 42:40I was actually about to say the same thing.
- 42:42It's like, yeah, are you, is your ass writing checks your
- 42:46your mouth can't cash? Yeah.
- 42:49So, you know, if, if, if, but So what if.
- 42:52I don't know that much about, you know, mechanics.
- 42:55I can tell you, you know, what foods are edible.
- 42:58I can tell you when to plant certain things or how to grow
- 43:00certain things, or I can build a house or I can do this or that.
- 43:02Like there's there's things about masculinity as a practice
- 43:08versus it as an identity, right? And how are those, how are we as
- 43:16men? How are they as men, right
- 43:17coming into their existence being proven to because once you
- 43:24know, once you once you enter into that space, it's not that
- 43:28you're relying on other people, it's that others are now relying
- 43:31on you. It's a huge burden.
- 43:33It's a big thing to carry. And I think a lot of men get
- 43:38caught up in that. It's, you know, almost like a
- 43:42like AI don't get a break. I don't get a chance to just
- 43:47exist. I'm always in this head space
- 43:51are always in this heart space, even if you will of having to be
- 43:56the problem solver, be, you know, fix, fix it.
- 44:02And it's a lot. It's a big it's a big thing to
- 44:05but we're capable of it. We're we're we we kind of built
- 44:08it to do it. But but not every machine is
- 44:13built the same for the same things, right?
- 44:17Yeah, well, one of the big things the younger generations
- 44:22need to learn, and the problem is the biggest fault is our
- 44:26generation and previous generations are following the
- 44:30same thing is getting a damn screen out of their face.
- 44:34Yeah, yeah, because that's all there.
- 44:37Ever. Is I don't know any restaurant
- 44:40I've been to in the last five years that did not have ATV
- 44:43plan. And I'm like, can we go back to
- 44:46actually not having ATV? It's like, it'd be nice to come
- 44:49here and just have a dinner instead of sports or whatever on
- 44:55TV blaring in my ear. Yeah, I don't want to have to
- 44:58yell at the person across from me because of music and TV and
- 45:03whatever. Like it's, it's, it's not a
- 45:05social thing anymore. It's like consumerism, you know?
- 45:10It's not just that, it's. Give us your money.
- 45:13Can't help but there's ATV on. It's biologically,
- 45:18psychologically, psychologically wise, mean mentally wise AT VS
- 45:25on. You can't help but look at it.
- 45:27Yeah. And it's like, especially if you
- 45:30go on a date, it's like you can't help but it's like, yeah,
- 45:32you're both trying to fight from looking at the damn TV and
- 45:36there's ATV on every damn wall. And it's like, can we just go
- 45:40back to not having T VS everywhere?
- 45:43Because honestly, it'd be nice to go somewhere to where it's
- 45:45just like, yeah, can we just sit and talk and just live a life?
- 45:51Yeah, yeah. I remember the the, you know,
- 45:55the dining out experience when I was growing up as a kid was a
- 46:00treat. First of all, it was, it was not
- 46:02a regular thing. And then the places that you
- 46:05went to, even if it was busy, you know what I mean?
- 46:09It was there was no other, there were no external distractions
- 46:12going on. It was noise of the restaurant
- 46:15from other people having moments with their people.
- 46:18But there wasn't, you weren't having to compete with radio or
- 46:22television, you know what I mean?
- 46:25And. I mean Chinese restaurants, you
- 46:28said, just have soft classical music playing, nothing else.
- 46:34Yeah, I've been to some of those myself, you know.
- 46:36Yeah. It's like, yeah, I don't, I
- 46:38don't ever see that anymore. And I'm like, that used to be
- 46:41the norm at every Chinese restaurant ever went to.
- 46:45It was soft classical music playing very softly in the
- 46:48background where you could actually have a meal.
- 46:52Right. Yeah, Yeah.
- 46:57I miss those days, man. That was yeah, because, you
- 47:01know, again, like the dining out experience was it was a treat.
- 47:04And but eating with eating a meal with your people has become
- 47:10so disengaged from sharing a moment with another human being.
- 47:19It's like it's quick, what's convenient, you know, and then
- 47:25on to the to the next thing like.
- 47:28Yeah, I mean, I want to apply it at a restaurant the other day,
- 47:34and this was on Tuesday or Wednesday.
- 47:38I want to apply it at a restaurant and the whole time
- 47:40it's like every wall had ATV on it and there's just blasting
- 47:44nothing but sports. And I'm like.
- 47:49I can't it'd. Be nice because they actually
- 47:50had some nice decor there. It'd be like, it'd be nice just
- 47:53sit here and look at the decor. But it's like, regardless, I
- 47:55can't help but look at the TV and I don't even like sports,
- 47:59but you can't help but look at the TV.
- 48:02And it's not like you could turn away and look at it.
- 48:04It's like no, that wall, the next wall you look at has ATV on
- 48:08it. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 48:13It's definitely frustrating. What do you think as far as you
- 48:18know, men today, maybe the youth that are, are coming into to
- 48:24manhood? Like what do you what, what is
- 48:27what does it look like for you for a man to live in a way, like
- 48:30maybe some daily practices that can help with the identity part
- 48:39of things? You know, you know, I'm a young
- 48:41person. I'm a young, I'm a, you know,
- 48:42I'm a teenager. Let's say, you know, these
- 48:44teenagers that are that are, you know, finishing high school or
- 48:47going through high school and now all of a sudden they've got
- 48:49to think about being a being an adult, right?
- 48:53So, so for those, for the boys, man, like what are some daily
- 48:57things that that prove to them that they are a man?
- 49:02You know what I mean? Like what are some things that
- 49:04you can think of that might cause what I think of is, you
- 49:06know, like you talked about really like, you know, working
- 49:09with your hands, you know, getting your hands dirty, like
- 49:12coming up with, you know, whether it's crafting, building,
- 49:17cultivating, you know, these are hunting, fishing, right?
- 49:21These are these are all tasks, I guess you could say that are
- 49:25kind of inherently masculine if you want it.
- 49:30Like, it's not to say that it's exclusively masculine, sorry,
- 49:33but it is definitely a masculine task to be able to build, be
- 49:38able to craft, be able to, you know, create shelter, create,
- 49:43all that sort of thing. First off, I'd have to say 45 at
- 49:50least 45 minutes after you get up and before you go to bed.
- 49:55Put the phone away for one. OK.
- 50:00If you can, one day a week, turn off the phone, retract from it
- 50:08the other day where you're just free of that crap.
- 50:12Just off of that social media stuff, yeah.
- 50:17And also a lot of people, they don't think of it, but a lot and
- 50:20it's not that hard to get set up and they can go on Amazon and
- 50:23buy 1 is a landline, landline phone.
- 50:27If someone really has to get a hold of you, have them get a
- 50:29hold of you on that. Don't sit there and Oh my phone
- 50:35wrong. My phone thought vibrated,
- 50:37whatever, go to it. For one, getting Peace of Mind
- 50:40is the number one thing. And I've had to go back and redo
- 50:43this and it's not, I mean, it's not easy retracting from it, but
- 50:48once you do, the benefits are far over surmountable.
- 50:58You do that. If anyone really needs to get a
- 51:01hold of you, they contact you on a landline because there are
- 51:04emergencies that come up. That's the number one stuff I
- 51:09have to say after that, honestly, I mean, I'm the less
- 51:20speak on this because I don't care.
- 51:21I'll work 60 to 80 hours a week just to make the money.
- 51:25But also I'm basically single right now.
- 51:30I'm trying to move on to better things.
- 51:31So I don't mind putting the the time in to where I don't have a
- 51:35life. If you have a home life, a wife,
- 51:41children, whatever, you've got to make time for them in your
- 51:46daily life, not just oh, once a weekend or so.
- 51:49No, you have to make time for that in your daily life.
- 51:52And that is what honestly makes you a man, how much you're
- 51:55willing to take care of responsibilities.
- 51:57And the other one is balancing that time and life.
- 52:04That's what makes a man and take.
- 52:06And the third one is taking care of all your responsibilities to
- 52:11where? Oh yeah, if you have to go
- 52:14without this stuff, you have to go without this stuff.
- 52:23Guess what? Suck it up, buttercup.
- 52:25This is what makes you a man is being able to go put this stuff
- 52:28down and do what you need to. This is this was enjoyment.
- 52:35This is and believe me, no, I've been smoking since I was 14.
- 52:38So I've been smoking since I was mean for oh crap, 26 years or
- 52:47more. 30 years, Yeah, No, you basically I'm on the basis of
- 52:55you'll probably these things away from me from my cold bed
- 52:58hands. However, it comes to time of
- 53:03what is the most important things to you, your family lives
- 53:07above anything else. Yeah, 100%.
- 53:12And for the vote, for the folks that are listening to the show,
- 53:14what John was holding up was, you know, a beer and cigarettes,
- 53:18vices if you will, right? Things that we enjoy, a lot of
- 53:22people enjoy smoking, drinking socially, right?
- 53:28If it becomes a thing that inhibits and threatens your
- 53:34ability to be a strong provider, a strong supporter, a comfort to
- 53:41your nearest and dearest, your inner people, even if you're
- 53:44even if you're just you, right, if if those substances become a,
- 53:51an abuse, you know what I mean? Like it's time to re evaluate.
- 53:55It's time to course correct, because sure, it's fine to enjoy
- 54:00them, but if they become this the the focal point of your
- 54:04life, you got to step back and go, what am I even doing here?
- 54:07Like what's going on, right? If you're neglecting the love
- 54:14and the support of what you're what you've been charged to do,
- 54:18what is within your stewardship as a custodian, as a caregiver,
- 54:22as a as a father, husband, brother, uncle, whatever, you
- 54:29know what I mean? It's a if that if those
- 54:35substances are taking priority over the real important things,
- 54:41then it's time to re evaluate. It's time to course correct.
- 54:45It's time to step back and go. What am I even doing here, you
- 54:48know? Yeah, don't let them be your
- 54:51God. Do not let them become your.
- 54:58What is the term I'm thinking of?
- 54:59Do not let them become your guiding of life in life.
- 55:05Yeah, don't work. Extra hours just so that you can
- 55:07afford a 24 pack or an extra pack or this or that, you know
- 55:11what I mean? Like.
- 55:12Well, I, I'm all for work the extra hours, so you can have
- 55:16that because at least then it's not cutting into your daily
- 55:20budget. However, don't let it cut into
- 55:23your family life. Do not let it cut into your
- 55:25life. Of I work 60 something hours a
- 55:28week and believe me, I, I'm used to working 12 hours a day, six
- 55:33days a week. Yeah, and then sometimes half
- 55:36days on my day off I'm used to working at.
- 55:42However, I don't suggest anyone doing it.
- 55:46However, I but I had no problem doing DoorDash on the side,
- 55:53doing other things on the side. We'll trade on the side for a
- 55:56few hours just to where I could afford.
- 55:58OK, I got 224 packs of beer. I got a carton of smokes that'll
- 56:03last me the whole week. If you got to put in a little
- 56:07extra work just to afford those little splurges and live pay,
- 56:14I'm all for that because it's not cutting into your main pay.
- 56:19Yeah, yeah. I mean, you know, the like it's
- 56:24we've all done it. You know what I mean?
- 56:25Like it's, you know, if I can, if I get a little extra bump or
- 56:28something like that, like I'm going to, I'm going to take that
- 56:31as a reward, right? It's it's going.
- 56:33To be in your life and enjoy your victories when you have, I
- 56:36mean, it's like. Exactly.
- 56:38Yeah, a win's a win. Yeah, I mean, when me and people
- 56:43in New Orleans, we ended up having to go through what I'm
- 56:47going to call hell of actually having to violently take down
- 56:52people in New Orleans. Me and them would get together
- 56:55whenever he could, once a month, every six weeks or so, and we'd
- 56:59celebrate. And at the time I realized what
- 57:04it was, but they were not following the same beliefs.
- 57:07So we just viewed as a celebration of we're alive.
- 57:10I viewed it as it was a pre op to secret bloat because of yeah,
- 57:18we faced death. We went through that stuff and
- 57:21we're here alive and we're celebrating our time.
- 57:25Because of that, we are celebrating our victory.
- 57:30For one, we got someone who owes a complete POS put behind bars.
- 57:40Yeah, it goes into, you know, because, like, why do you
- 57:42celebrate victors, right? It's a it's, it's, it's to
- 57:45accumulate from evidence, confidence to then go and do
- 57:52things that achieve more victories, right?
- 57:54So it's confidence from evidence, not from affirmation,
- 57:58right? It's not just because, oh, good
- 58:00job, right. You got a little pat on your
- 58:02back. You tried hard.
- 58:03Good job, buddy. No, the evidence shows that I
- 58:07earned this victory and that that evidence is where
- 58:15confidence within men come from. We want to be recognized for our
- 58:21achievements, but we don't want to be handed these participation
- 58:26trophies and these, you know, affirmations a good job by these
- 58:30passing back. Listen, man, if I'm not earning
- 58:32it, I don't want your your little affirmation.
- 58:35I wanted I want my I want my victories to be shown.
- 58:38This is what I've done. Look, look at this, look at what
- 58:42I've done. Look at what has been done
- 58:44because that fuels our confidence to then go and
- 58:47perform at the same and better levels, right?
- 58:52When I was on 10th grade, to throw that crap on me of oh, you
- 58:55got second place, I was like, oh crap, great.
- 58:58And this was not like the state, Texas State Science Fair.
- 59:04They're like, he got second place.
- 59:05So I'm like great. And then it's like they rounded
- 59:08off like 7 other people that got second place and I'm like then
- 59:11he called my name and I'm like, I didn't even respond to it
- 59:13because I'm like, what the hell is this?
- 59:15I won second place. Yeah.
- 59:22And that's why no, I don't want it.
- 59:25But you know, it's about stacking those small wins, you
- 59:27know, right, versus waiting for it to just, you know, a wins, a
- 59:31win. And I think that's where, you
- 59:37know, we as men, and I'm going to I'm going to challenge you on
- 59:41this. Like, do you think because I
- 59:43don't, but I'm going to ask you, right, Do you can, can can a man
- 59:46think his way into confidence or does he have to earn it?
- 59:51You can't. You have to think your way into
- 59:53confidence. You have to.
- 59:55You need affirmation behind that, but no.
- 1:00:01There's been a trope going on online of how do you enter
- 1:00:05access? How do you get access into every
- 1:00:07building there is? Wear a jumpsuit, full overalls
- 1:00:14jumpsuit and carry a ladder and you can go in any building there
- 1:00:19is. You just have to have the
- 1:00:25confidence of I'm here because I'm supposed to be here.
- 1:00:28But it's like, yeah, no, people will open doors for you.
- 1:00:31People will do whatever. And it's true because I've done
- 1:00:33the same exact thing in the past.
- 1:00:34I whenever I was shady doing that type of stuff, it's like,
- 1:00:40yeah, go and scope a place out and just carry a ladder
- 1:00:42everywhere with you and it works.
- 1:00:45Hands down. It works every single time.
- 1:00:47The only time it does not work is in a government building.
- 1:00:51Yeah, with. Yeah, yeah, exactly.
- 1:00:53Well, I guess what I meant by that is, you know, there's
- 1:00:57there's ways to be crafty and that's a skill.
- 1:01:00I mean, there is, there is definitely, you know, a warrior
- 1:01:06mentality to be had when you need to infiltrate enemy lines
- 1:01:13and you do so through craftiness.
- 1:01:16That's that's a worry. But I guess what I'm saying is
- 1:01:21like, do you think like that, that confidence is something
- 1:01:25that a man can just, you know, think into being without
- 1:01:28actually having doing, without having done anything to earn it?
- 1:01:38For one, you have to have enough belief in yourself to do it.
- 1:01:42I mean, the first few times I ever tried doing stuff, I was
- 1:01:45like, I don't know about this. I mean, I wanted to complete.
- 1:01:47I just, I'm used to filling out like 20 applications.
- 1:01:53It's harder now because everything online and
- 1:01:55everything, they can go look stuff up, but you still do it.
- 1:01:59But I was used to filling out 100 applications online a week
- 1:02:04and just show up to jobs. And the ones that I knew they
- 1:02:09weren't going to hire me, I just completely bullshit them the
- 1:02:12entire way. I mean, majority of my bullshit
- 1:02:14in my way into every job I had. And I was just like, and that's
- 1:02:19the thing, that's charisma. That's charisma.
- 1:02:21That is confidence you have to have because a lot of them,
- 1:02:24they're like, we know this guy's bullshitting us.
- 1:02:26Not even nothing, but this guy has enough balls on him to do
- 1:02:30this. We're going to give him a shot
- 1:02:32in some lower level position and see how he does.
- 1:02:34And watching over people getting a, what the hell do you call it
- 1:02:40AOL? We're you're watching over a
- 1:02:44bunch of people telling them what to do.
- 1:02:49Oh, you're a overseer? I don't know a fucking.
- 1:02:53Yeah, not a manager, but you're yeah, I can't remember the term
- 1:02:57you're AOL, but yeah, no bullsit your way through the entire job.
- 1:03:03And usually after a week you're fired.
- 1:03:05But it's like, hey, in the meantime, it's like, hey, I'm a
- 1:03:07it's like, hey, yeah, how do we like concrete?
- 1:03:12Let me look it up online real quick.
- 1:03:15Well, there's an old saying that if you can't dazzle them with
- 1:03:18brilliance, baffle them with bullshit.
- 1:03:21Yeah, that was basically my whole thing.
- 1:03:23It was like, I'm either going to I got hired.
- 1:03:26So fuck it, I got to make this work.
- 1:03:27And it's like, yeah, I've done. I was BS and my way through
- 1:03:31everything. But and usually, like I said,
- 1:03:33after a week I was fired. But hey, I hey.
- 1:03:38But each of those times I learned stuff through them.
- 1:03:42And that was where I was going with it, right?
- 1:03:44What do those moments of thinking that you can do it,
- 1:03:48right? What does that do to your
- 1:03:49confidence? Does it?
- 1:03:50Does it? What does it do to a man's
- 1:03:52confidence to realize, hey, I really don't know what I'm
- 1:03:55doing. I'm just conning my way through
- 1:03:58this. So does that enhance the
- 1:04:00confidence of that man be being a con artist?
- 1:04:04Oh yeah, I think, I think it does.
- 1:04:06I think it does because it takes experience for anything.
- 1:04:10Until you have experience, you have no confidence or anything
- 1:04:13till then. And I'm not telling people go to
- 1:04:15a job and lie your way into it. I'm not telling people that
- 1:04:18please don't do that. But sometimes if you get the
- 1:04:22opportunity, you just got to run for it.
- 1:04:25Yeah, I'm sure like that's that's, you know, that's a valid
- 1:04:27observation. Like there's going to be times
- 1:04:29where you know you might not be the man for the job, but you can
- 1:04:33you can convince them that you are a.
- 1:04:35Supervisor of US title I was thinking of earlier.
- 1:04:38Supervisor. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:04:40I was thinking like Superintendent, like an
- 1:04:42overseer. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:04:44Yeah, all within the same realm. But yeah, no supervisor, but
- 1:04:47yeah, no all. But how?
- 1:04:50But like, do you think that, like if you vote, like if you
- 1:04:53went through the study, if you took the courses, if you learned
- 1:04:57the trade, if you went through all of the work to know it, do
- 1:05:02you think that your confidence would be boosted stronger having
- 1:05:08gone through that versus having lied and conned your way through
- 1:05:13it? Because you don't have, you
- 1:05:14don't have a skill set to back up the nonsense that you've been
- 1:05:18pushing this whole time. You see what I mean?
- 1:05:21Like. Yeah, well, like the confidence.
- 1:05:24Comes earning it like I'm more confident in the fact that I can
- 1:05:28teach a rune course for nine months because I've done the
- 1:05:31shit for 10 years or whatever. I haven't you know what I mean?
- 1:05:34Like, so that's an example. Like, you know, I could bullshit
- 1:05:36my way through it and be like the next yeah, no charlatan and
- 1:05:40the carpetbagger and and snake oil salesman or whatever of the
- 1:05:43Pagan world if I just ran my shit through AI and and spouted
- 1:05:50that off, Right. Well, no, I'm confident that I
- 1:05:52can teach this because I have the experience.
- 1:05:54I've done more. Yeah, I'm thrilled.
- 1:05:56No, something as specific as the runes.
- 1:06:00I just use that as your shit. They're largely different
- 1:06:04because majority of people don't know what the hell they're going
- 1:06:06they're looking at. And you can feed people lots of
- 1:06:10bullshit. I mean, hell, you can read off
- 1:06:13the damn card off of the paper, off of what each one means.
- 1:06:18And it's like, OK, well, I guess this means this.
- 1:06:21I mean, like me, I got a gig working a for a band.
- 1:06:24Opening a band is for a band of San Antonio.
- 1:06:27I was with a punk band we're opening for DII.
- 1:06:31Don't know if you remember them. Oh, punk band.
- 1:06:34You ever seen Suburbia? You said DRI Dirty Rotten DI no
- 1:06:39DI Oh no. You ever seen Suburbia?
- 1:06:44Yeah. Well, yeah, yeah.
- 1:06:47Yeah, Richard hung himself. Yeah.
- 1:06:52Yeah, I open. I was one of the bands opening
- 1:06:55for them and it was this punk festival.
- 1:06:58It had them a TSOL headlining it which was great because I'm like
- 1:07:02it's suburbia 2 point O 30-40 years later.
- 1:07:06Right, I got this. And The thing is, is I was with
- 1:07:11a band that was doing Alice In Chains covers.
- 1:07:14Well, because of it, we only had three songs to learn.
- 1:07:17I never played Alice In Chains in my life, even though they're
- 1:07:20probably my favorite band. I had to learn them.
- 1:07:23Bones, I had to learn. Oh, man of the box.
- 1:07:26And I had to learn crap Heaven besides you.
- 1:07:34Oh, wow. And it's like, yeah, I sat there
- 1:07:37and just listen to those albums, those songs over and over and
- 1:07:41over again. Got online, looked up bass
- 1:07:44tutorials on it and just like fuck it go for it in like 4 days
- 1:07:54that's all you had. To learn, you had to learn the
- 1:07:56chords. You had to learn the because you
- 1:07:58were doing what? Bass.
- 1:07:59Yeah, and I absolutely sucked, but you've got to go for it when
- 1:08:05you got taught. I mean, confidence only grows
- 1:08:07through experience. I mean, it's like VNAO Shyster.
- 1:08:12I don't know if you've ever seen.
- 1:08:13No. What's the damn movie?
- 1:08:16Slumdog. Millionaire.
- 1:08:19Oh, Slumdog Millionaire. Hell yeah.
- 1:08:21Yeah, what do the kids do? They just got out there
- 1:08:23bullshitting their wall and saying that they're a tourist
- 1:08:26guide. You've got to do the same thing.
- 1:08:30Most of the time in life, you just opportunity arises.
- 1:08:34Go for it. Don't hold back.
- 1:08:35Don't be like, oh, I don't know if I can do that.
- 1:08:37I mean, last week, like I said, I went and applied for a job and
- 1:08:42they're like, do you have any experience in restaurants on a
- 1:08:45mic? No, but I could figure my damn
- 1:08:50way through this. And I'm like, I know how to cook
- 1:08:52this. I know how to cook this.
- 1:08:53I know how to cook this. I can talk to people.
- 1:08:55I've done this job. I've done that job.
- 1:08:59Taking orders is no big deal. I can figure this stuff out as I
- 1:09:03go along. I didn't get the job, but still,
- 1:09:09it's like, no, but I can, it's like no, give me the
- 1:09:15opportunity. I can do it.
- 1:09:18Yeah, And, and, you know, I think that's what a lot of I
- 1:09:21think that, you know, almost any man that I've talked to is, is
- 1:09:25of the same mindset. You know, I don't know, but I
- 1:09:28can be taught. I, you know, we'll put ourselves
- 1:09:31through the crucibles and, and, and all that because I think,
- 1:09:36and, you know, and this is my opinion.
- 1:09:37And I was going to ask you this. You know, do you think that men
- 1:09:41are shaped by resistance more so than ease, right?
- 1:09:49Oh yeah, no, we men have to have resistance.
- 1:09:52We have to have something to fight against.
- 1:09:55That's just men's mentality. We we're built through fire.
- 1:10:00Men are fire and air. Women are water and earth.
- 1:10:08So it's almost. Like our emotion and grounded
- 1:10:10men are fluid and I'm sorry to use that because I just said a
- 1:10:16lot men are, but men are fluid and fire.
- 1:10:21We go, we see something, we run straightforward.
- 1:10:24That's how men are. I mean, and but almost in the
- 1:10:30whole debate on men versus women and which is all that's a whole
- 1:10:36different subject to deal with which.
- 1:10:41But but to the point that you're saying where in we're presented
- 1:10:45with like, OK, so you know, you were presented with an
- 1:10:47opportunity, you didn't know much about it, but you still
- 1:10:51postured and presented yourself as like, I can do it.
- 1:10:54It's fine, right? We're like, we're willing to put
- 1:10:59ourselves in the front of challenge and resistance because
- 1:11:09I don't know, it's like it's like built into our DNA.
- 1:11:11It's built into ourselves to to be like, I can't do this now,
- 1:11:15but damn it, give me the chance and I'll show you that I can.
- 1:11:19You know what I mean? So it's that being shaped by
- 1:11:22resistance, by opposition. I don't want it to be easy.
- 1:11:26I think that's some some what has been lost in.
- 1:11:31The more you got to work for it, the more reward there is.
- 1:11:35They're, they're not, they're not willing to face that
- 1:11:37resistance. They're not willing to face that
- 1:11:39opposition. They want that, you know, I look
- 1:11:42a certain way, I talk a certain way.
- 1:11:45Therefore I deserve an outcome of a certain thing.
- 1:11:49Like, no, you don't have you. Have you put yourself through
- 1:11:53the fire? Have you, have you you know
- 1:11:55that's exposed to the woman from.
- 1:11:57Cross made at that point. You know, how many, how many,
- 1:12:01how many purpose driven tasks have you performed?
- 1:12:04Have you how, how hard have you trained?
- 1:12:06Have you fasted? Have you, you know, learned a
- 1:12:10new skill? Have you put yourself through
- 1:12:13purposeful suffering? Have you suffered?
- 1:12:17I mean, have you what it comes down to?
- 1:12:18Have you suffered? For it have you suffered?
- 1:12:22I mean like me, I am right now. I'm unemployed because I quit my
- 1:12:28job because I got tired of being screwed over by my hours at Home
- 1:12:31Depot even though I was making $18.00 an hour which is bank
- 1:12:36money this day. Yeah, if you're doing 40 or more
- 1:12:38hours a week, but if you're only getting hold for 12, fuck that.
- 1:12:42Like you know what I mean? Like, but yeah, I'm taking this
- 1:12:47here. Which is your motorcycle.
- 1:12:51Yeah, that's a 26 year old Harley.
- 1:12:55Nice. The engine transfer
- 1:13:0813123 miles ago, the engine and transmission was completely
- 1:13:12rebuilt. Brand new bike.
- 1:13:16I just got to get new tires on it afterwards.
- 1:13:18I'm taking it from basically let's just say Baton Rouge
- 1:13:22because I'm 15 miles north of it, but I'm taking from Baton
- 1:13:24Rouge to Seattle, actually the West side of Seattle.
- 1:13:28So that's literally like it's literally by the time I get done
- 1:13:3225130 miles I. Was going to say like 23.
- 1:13:38So so almost double the amount of miles that are on that
- 1:13:41engine. Yeah, basically the full mile,
- 1:13:45literally. And like I said, it's been
- 1:13:48rebuilt. So the full mile that's 1300,
- 1:13:55the full mileage on is 37,541 miles.
- 1:13:59But like I said, everything, the incident transmission was
- 1:14:02rebuilt. So it literally has only a
- 1:14:05little over 1000 miles on it. I'm taking a 20 and it's one of
- 1:14:15those things of once I get tires on it, to hell with it.
- 1:14:20I'm just going whatever happens, happens.
- 1:14:26Well, you know what, what is the thing about?
- 1:14:31You know, we talked about elemental correlations with, you
- 1:14:35know, facing the fire and and going through a DOA man like
- 1:14:38fire tempers steel. Yeah.
- 1:14:42Steel is not proven. Metal is not proven.
- 1:14:45It's worth until it's been exposed to the beatings of a
- 1:14:49forge, the heat of the fire. Because if you don't do that,
- 1:14:55all you have is just raw material.
- 1:14:58You have the skeleton, you have the makings of something great,
- 1:15:03but without the exposure of ordeal, you got nothing.
- 1:15:10Yeah, well, it comes down to, well what you're saying you need
- 1:15:16to be tell every person, I don't care.
- 1:15:18A man or woman needs to be tested, men specifically.
- 1:15:23So that's where men learn because men take their faults
- 1:15:28and they look at all the little nuances inside it and then apply
- 1:15:33that to future. Men are very strategic and
- 1:15:40precise in that of where did I fail in?
- 1:15:43And anyone who's actually trained within anything, I don't
- 1:15:46care if it's even airsoft. Anyone who's actually trained in
- 1:15:50that, whether they're military, they've done airsoft, they've
- 1:15:54done Border Patrol, they've done everything.
- 1:15:56You take your faults and you learn from that.
- 1:16:00Yeah, you. I mean, let's take a martial
- 1:16:03arts the first. I mean, I'm pretty sure you've
- 1:16:07done martial arts. I have a lot of years of Chinese
- 1:16:14internal martial arts. I have Qigong, I have Taekwondo
- 1:16:18from my childhood. But yeah, yeah, I've got plenty
- 1:16:21of it. What happens basically?
- 1:16:24I mean taking all your days when you're first starting off, put
- 1:16:27it up to a week. What happens during that time
- 1:16:29period? What was the question again?
- 1:16:35Take it like. I yeah, if you take like you go,
- 1:16:39let's just say you can go twice a week, take the first seven
- 1:16:43days that you've been practicing.
- 1:16:45Actually, it's more than that, but we're just going to settle
- 1:16:47with seven days. What happens during those first
- 1:16:49seven days? Oh, you're just, you're just
- 1:16:54fucking up alone. You.
- 1:16:54Have your ass kicked all over the place?
- 1:16:57Yeah, you're a punching bag, right?
- 1:17:01And that's how men are. It's we learn through that.
- 1:17:05We learn through pain and aggression.
- 1:17:13We fail on something. You take those points and put
- 1:17:20them together and figure out what exactly you need to do to
- 1:17:24rise above. But yeah, the first few, the
- 1:17:27first basically week total of your entire days working, you
- 1:17:31have nothing but your ass handed to you left and right.
- 1:17:35Yeah, at the point to where, yeah, if you don't have any
- 1:17:39stones in you, you're going to a lot.
- 1:17:43You're just going to give up and leave really quickly.
- 1:17:48Yeah. And that's the same thing as
- 1:17:50anything, even airsoft or even playing video games, or at least
- 1:17:54the old way of playing video games where you just kept losing
- 1:17:57until you actually figured out the way.
- 1:17:59Like I'm just going to use a Final Fantasy or Zelda, you died
- 1:18:04left and right till you finally figured or Mario, you've died
- 1:18:07left and right trying to figure it out.
- 1:18:09The newer generations just want to oh, I'll go look on the
- 1:18:12online on how to play this game before I even start on it.
- 1:18:15And it's like, no, the point is to discover the game.
- 1:18:20It's kind of like with a woman. I mean, I don't care if you're
- 1:18:24someone that one woman your entire life or if you're the
- 1:18:28type that has a a player. Each woman is completely
- 1:18:33different and you have to discover her mind and her body.
- 1:18:43Oh for sure, man, and every man's different too.
- 1:18:45I mean, you know, like it's I, I, I think it's funny, like when
- 1:18:48you talk about video games, it's, you know, how I'm maybe
- 1:18:53maybe it's because I'm a bit more old school with it, but
- 1:18:56like, I would rather get pissed off at failing 19 times.
- 1:19:04Yeah, before the 20th time. I only figure out what I got to
- 1:19:08do to beat that level or to beat that boss or to beat that
- 1:19:11section of the game. Right.
- 1:19:12I got, I don't want to just be like, I missed it a few times
- 1:19:15and now I got to go find an online tutorial.
- 1:19:17Like, no man, I want to, I want to mess up along the way and
- 1:19:21figure out, is this really achievable?
- 1:19:23Because the the the developers made it achievable.
- 1:19:25They just made it so hard that you had a, you know, question
- 1:19:28your sanity along the way. And that's, that's, you know, it
- 1:19:33is, I guess mentally, you know, psychologically or whatever
- 1:19:38it's, it's part of development, but like literal physical
- 1:19:41things. Do you have anything that you
- 1:19:45can think of that that like what is 1 first thing that comes to
- 1:19:49your mind? Like what's 1 hard thing that
- 1:19:52every man should be doing regularly as a part of
- 1:19:56conditioning, as part of building up their masculinity?
- 1:20:01Holistic, you know, wholesome masculinity, right?
- 1:20:05Being a man, you know, like what?
- 1:20:07What is a good? Or majority of men do not be
- 1:20:10doing Bourbon. Majority of men do not live on
- 1:20:12Bourbon streets. So yeah, no, I'm not even going
- 1:20:15to miss in that phrase of that point of everything.
- 1:20:19OK, yeah, without, without hitting the concrete jungle of
- 1:20:21Bourbon Street, like, yeah. You mean the Ebola filled rivers
- 1:20:29on Bourbon Street, right? One thing every man should be
- 1:20:37doing. It's not one thing specifically.
- 1:20:46He should be testing himself and pick something, test yourself.
- 1:20:52And that's been one week on a different one.
- 1:21:01Go without certain things, whether it is this drink, this
- 1:21:10weed, whatever your pleasure is, go without it fast.
- 1:21:20Yes. And that is something I am
- 1:21:22guilty of not doing. So I'm not going to say I am
- 1:21:25anywhere above it. I didn't.
- 1:21:27Know what it is? I bought 324 packs of beer.
- 1:21:31So I mean, I'm the last person to talk to really talk about it,
- 1:21:35but that but you're. Talking about it, but you're
- 1:21:38talking about it and, and you're and you're, you're calling
- 1:21:41almost yourself out, you know what I mean?
- 1:21:43Like. Yeah, I am.
- 1:21:44Go, go without, right? Know what it is to be denied
- 1:21:51certain things, right, Because what does that teach us?
- 1:21:54What is what is what is it? What is it that you think that
- 1:21:57we are taught when we deny ourselves certain pleasures that
- 1:22:01are so easily accessible, right? It's almost like a punishment in
- 1:22:05a way like but what do you think that that denying of ourselves
- 1:22:09of those pleasures? What do you think that that is
- 1:22:11teaching us as men? What is the what is the lesson?
- 1:22:14What is the medicine that we're receiving when we deny ourselves
- 1:22:18these pleasures or these enjoyments or the.
- 1:22:21Yeah, that's a multi fun. It really puts in perspective,
- 1:22:26perspective of how much we really like that.
- 1:22:34Yeah, because I mean down here, I mean, what is today, Tuesday,
- 1:22:40Monday. Today, right as we're recording
- 1:22:44this, it is Monday, yes. OK, yesterday was Easter, right
- 1:22:50down here in Louisiana, we just got done with Easter.
- 1:22:56So Easter is the end of Lent. Lent marks a month of fasting.
- 1:23:07Yeah. Sacrifice, it gives something
- 1:23:09up. So going by the same basis, and
- 1:23:13I'm not Catholic but my family is.
- 1:23:20They pride themselves on giving something up for that month
- 1:23:23straight. And then yesterday they could
- 1:23:27find, well, today, basically, they could go and finally have
- 1:23:30that again. Like, my parents gave up bread
- 1:23:34and I'm always baking bread. So too down.
- 1:23:38Like gluten. Like loaves of bread.
- 1:23:41Yeah, loaves of bread. OK, interesting.
- 1:23:43Because no, I'll bake 2 loaves of bread and within three hours
- 1:23:47they'll be gone. I'm talking about like 6 cups of
- 1:23:50flour, an ounce of bread. Yeah.
- 1:23:53OK. So good commodity, good up was a
- 1:23:57was a. Loaf of bread and yeah, no, you
- 1:24:02get us. It's like, yeah, you have that.
- 1:24:03You have the like really good Danish cream butter on there.
- 1:24:07That's like 80% butter fat and everything on there.
- 1:24:12Yeah. Oh, man, that's great.
- 1:24:15I don't care what. And then you have like a Dumbo
- 1:24:19or something with it, a nice soup where you can dip the bread
- 1:24:22into and everything and it has a super, super hard crackly crust
- 1:24:27on it. Yes.
- 1:24:28Like a good sour though. Oh yeah.
- 1:24:31Or a good brioche, yeah. So I mean, going without is the
- 1:24:38best way anyone, especially men, can actually do for themselves
- 1:24:44and for others. Because while you're working
- 1:24:48internally, it's going to because especially men, they
- 1:24:51project it externally. Women can do all the internal
- 1:24:55work they want, but they don't project it.
- 1:24:59It just stays manifested inside. And you do see the changes
- 1:25:04within women, but not nearly on the level of what you see with
- 1:25:07men. And that's just the way women
- 1:25:12are. I mean, women are completely
- 1:25:15women mean men project for sex, men project sperm.
- 1:25:20Women take that. And basically it's like alien.
- 1:25:24They just take it and hold it inside.
- 1:25:25And then those things, no offense to women.
- 1:25:33No, I get what you're saying. I mean, they, you know, the
- 1:25:38receivers versus the the givers and, and what that you know what
- 1:25:43that animal animalistic, if you will, or, or primal way about
- 1:25:48our species are. There's different layers to it
- 1:25:52all too, you know what I mean? But I agree, fire versus water.
- 1:25:56Yeah. And you know, when you look at a
- 1:26:01lot of the like different creation myths, you know, what
- 1:26:06were the elements that met to create the living world right?
- 1:26:11In, in the Norse beliefs, it was, you know, fire and ice in
- 1:26:16Gununga Gap where it was fire and ice that that met and it,
- 1:26:19and you know, and it started the whole thing or at the beginning
- 1:26:24or at the at the inception of of the wider cosmos, right?
- 1:26:29There was fire and ice, right. So there are these two opposing
- 1:26:32elements. It seems right that that have a
- 1:26:36have a play at things. But I do agree with what you're
- 1:26:39saying as far as sacrifice, right?
- 1:26:42Fast for something. And it's interesting because,
- 1:26:45you know, the Christians have or the Catholics specifically.
- 1:26:49This isn't a, this isn't a universal Christian thing that
- 1:26:51Catholics have lent where they fast and then, you know, Muslims
- 1:26:57have, you know, the month of Ramadan where they are going
- 1:27:01through withdrawal or, or ordeal through fasting and all that.
- 1:27:06And these are all, you know, non gender specific.
- 1:27:10It's not about a man or a woman doing it or not doing it, but
- 1:27:13they are rites of passage. They are, they are, they are
- 1:27:17maybe not rites of passage, but they are acts of going through
- 1:27:21ordeal to discover something about oneself.
- 1:27:24It's when, when you are without your enjoyment, when you are
- 1:27:30denying yourself these pleasures, your focus that is
- 1:27:36maybe perhaps you know, focused on the the pleasure.
- 1:27:41Now it's shifted to something else.
- 1:27:44So instead of going to that drink or to that smoke or to
- 1:27:46that moment or that thing, now my focus is directed elsewhere
- 1:27:51and it's to the self. Why am I seeking this relief?
- 1:27:58Why am I seeking this, you know, enjoyment?
- 1:28:01Is it a necessity? Am I, am I yearning for it so
- 1:28:04badly because I don't have it? And now that is becoming my
- 1:28:11identity, right? I, I can't have it, right?
- 1:28:14Am I, is it an addictive sort of a thing?
- 1:28:18Or we discover that part of ourselves when we deny ourselves
- 1:28:25those things, you know? Yeah.
- 1:28:28So. Yeah.
- 1:28:32I don't know what what would you say would be the thing men to
- 1:28:36need to center on? The thing that I think that men
- 1:28:41need to, will you say, center on or.
- 1:28:43Like. Men should.
- 1:28:45Do what would be the best thing for them to center on to do such
- 1:28:50as I said, fasting. Yeah, what would your.
- 1:28:55Take on that be. I, I think that men should, I
- 1:29:05think one thing that men should do nowadays is to embrace their
- 1:29:09inner warrior spirit. First of all, umm, because
- 1:29:16that's what men have been for a long time in various cultures.
- 1:29:22Men were the protectors. They, they would defend, they
- 1:29:24would fight, even if that wasn't their occupation, they still had
- 1:29:28a sense, they still had an understanding of protecting and
- 1:29:34defending. Right.
- 1:29:36So maybe you weren't a, a trained militant person in in
- 1:29:41the war bands, but you still had a sense of I'm protecting my, my
- 1:29:47family, my children, my woman, my, my, you know, my elders,
- 1:29:52whatever. Learn a skill, learn a skill
- 1:29:57that cultivates that warrior spirit, right?
- 1:30:01Even if it's picking up a stick, even if it's picking up a
- 1:30:05sickle, even if it's picking up a blade, whatever it is, right,
- 1:30:08Cultivate that warrior spirit, because that's in almost every
- 1:30:16culture in the world. I think is, is men were the
- 1:30:19protectors and they, they, they fought, they defended.
- 1:30:23It's not to say that women your vessels per SE, but it was that
- 1:30:26the men were the, the, were the, the fighters, you know what I
- 1:30:30mean? Like they were the warriors and
- 1:30:32to, and to do something that awakens that warrior spirit.
- 1:30:36Get out, do exercises, learn, learn a new, you know, if it's
- 1:30:43not built into your everyday practice or even in your past,
- 1:30:47'cause you know, we talked earlier about martial arts, like
- 1:30:50I have that as a background so I can embrace that.
- 1:30:54But if it's not something that you ever been brought up in,
- 1:30:58what's stopping you from learning it?
- 1:31:00What's stopping you from adopting that warrior spirit,
- 1:31:04right? And there's damn near not a
- 1:31:08place this day and age that doesn't have some form of a
- 1:31:14martial arts studio in their town.
- 1:31:16Right. Yeah, but.
- 1:31:19The other thing is going back to the subject of what men need to
- 1:31:24do. Honestly, and I have to put this
- 1:31:28probably above the other one of what I stated, men need to read
- 1:31:32philosophy. The biggest downfall of American
- 1:31:37Society is when we cut away from philosophy.
- 1:31:43It doesn't. To hell with religion.
- 1:31:45I don't care. You don't need to follow
- 1:31:46religion at all. No shape or form, but philosophy
- 1:31:52is something that I mean the coined the term today make
- 1:31:58America great again. Well, once we cut away from
- 1:32:01philosophy, America definitely has seemed to collapse under
- 1:32:07that. When our leaders and mankind
- 1:32:12went by philosophy, everything actually flourished and it had
- 1:32:17for 2000 years for the most part.
- 1:32:22I mean technological and everything, you have so many
- 1:32:25factors that go into that. But when people actually ran
- 1:32:29upon philosophy, everything ran. I mean, you go so many degrees
- 1:32:36and everything. So many good philosophers.
- 1:32:40I mean Seneca, Plato, Marcus Aurelius Young.
- 1:32:50Nietzsche I mean, that's that's that's the other end of the
- 1:32:53spectrum, but. I mean Terence McKenna, Alan
- 1:32:56Watts, I mean some like just get into like modern, like thick,
- 1:33:01not on like some of the like Far East philosophies.
- 1:33:08You know what I mean? Embrace it and and study it all.
- 1:33:12Like don't narrow yourself into one belief, like don't tie
- 1:33:20yourself to a culture or whatever it when it comes to
- 1:33:22philosophy, because there was so much wisdom out there, cross
- 1:33:26cultures that can, that can really enhance.
- 1:33:31I, I, I read something, I read something earlier today and it
- 1:33:35wasn't, it wasn't necessarily philosophical.
- 1:33:41It was it was the studies of a doctor.
- 1:33:48Her name is Doctor Lena Hoffman and she proposes a a theory of
- 1:33:59such called the Berlin Paradox. OK.
- 1:34:05So one of her quotes is that most people don't want to heal.
- 1:34:09They want to become someone who never got hurt.
- 1:34:14So anybody that's listening or or whatever wants to look up
- 1:34:18Doctor Lena Hoffman or the Berlin paradox, you'll see what
- 1:34:24I'm talking about. South people approach self
- 1:34:27development like surgery, cutting away every flaw, fear
- 1:34:32and shadow. But real growth isn't escape.
- 1:34:36Growth is integration. You know, the healthiest people
- 1:34:41aren't the people that heal the most, they're the ones who
- 1:34:46finally stop seeing themselves as broken.
- 1:34:52You know, because peace isn't what happens when you change.
- 1:34:54Peace is what happens when you be.
- 1:34:56When you stop running from the parts of you that don't that
- 1:35:02don't need to be, you know, run from our work, our shadow work,
- 1:35:09that self work. It is sacred.
- 1:35:10But if you obsessed with it, it it's, it's it's fear in disguise
- 1:35:17is what is what the study brings to the surface.
- 1:35:21So, you know, sometimes quote UN quote, doing the work.
- 1:35:24Doing that shadow work means putting your tools down, slowing
- 1:35:31the nervous system, and just allowing yourself to simply
- 1:35:35exist. Yeah.
- 1:35:40You know, so like you're not going to discover these things
- 1:35:43if you're, if you're narrowing your view into a certain
- 1:35:46cultural perspective of things, you have to be able to wander
- 1:35:49widely, right? And take in certain things
- 1:35:54'cause there's so much wisdom out there from, from different
- 1:35:56cultures, from different places, from different minds.
- 1:36:01And being able to sift through it and apply it in a, in a, in a
- 1:36:05true sense, right. Not everything that you're going
- 1:36:07to receive is applicable. Yeah.
- 1:36:11But open yourself up to at least, you know, be willing to,
- 1:36:15to explore, be willing to wander, be willing to go out
- 1:36:17and, you know, tie those various threads and, and, and integrate
- 1:36:23it into what you're doing, 'cause there's plenty of men
- 1:36:27that hear this podcast, I'm sure that, that listen or watch that
- 1:36:33have their own mind on, on this too, You know, which I'm eager
- 1:36:37to hear because by the time this comes out, I want to hear
- 1:36:39comments, I want to hear thoughts.
- 1:36:40So, you know, so if you're listening to this and you can
- 1:36:42comment, or if you're watching this on Patreon, you want to
- 1:36:44comment, you know, please. And, you know, opening comments
- 1:36:49to anybody, you know, men, women, whoever.
- 1:36:52But man, I don't care if someone comes on here and tells me I'm
- 1:36:57full of it, I don't care. It's like, yeah, well, my
- 1:37:02beliefs do not consist of your opinions.
- 1:37:05And I like people's opinions, but on the whole, if someone
- 1:37:10thinks I'm going to be burying my whole world view and
- 1:37:17everything upon them, sorry to hear, sorry to tell them, but
- 1:37:23that ain't going to happen. I mean, you know me.
- 1:37:26I'm a I'm a stubborn asshole, plain and simply.
- 1:37:32Yeah, but we're not here to how you're trying to change people's
- 1:37:36minds. We're here to, you know, share
- 1:37:38our minds. And if people have a mind to
- 1:37:41share and it's, you know, I'll, I'll, I'll listen to anybody,
- 1:37:46you know, whether or not I hear them.
- 1:37:50I listen to everything, everyone I but I have no problem telling
- 1:37:53people so they're if someone's full of it, it's like, but I try
- 1:37:58to do at least come to some middle ground with them
- 1:38:01regardless. It's like OK, I can see your
- 1:38:03viewpoint. On this, yeah.
- 1:38:05And if you're, if you're, if you're approaching, if you're
- 1:38:09approaching what people say as I think you're full of it.
- 1:38:13Where is that coming from? Yeah, that's a union.
- 1:38:17That's that's that's a, that's a perspective that one has to
- 1:38:20think that somebody else's perspective is nonsense.
- 1:38:23I personally don't like to maintain that position because
- 1:38:27who am I to say that what they think is nonsense?
- 1:38:30I have had and have maintained that position because of my
- 1:38:35perception of things. I think what you're doing is
- 1:38:39bullshit or it's ridiculous. And while my opinion is what it
- 1:38:45is, that is that is not a wholesome way about delivering
- 1:38:51it to somebody else because now they're thinking they're hearing
- 1:38:54what I'm saying. They're going, who are you to
- 1:38:56say that what I'm thinking is it with this or that?
- 1:38:58You know what I mean? So it's, it's, it's a, it's a
- 1:39:01delicate place to find oneself in.
- 1:39:04Yeah, if someone fires off of me, I'm not too uncommon to him.
- 1:39:10Well, stuff up. Stuff it up your nose with a
- 1:39:13rubber hose. I mean, I don't know where, if
- 1:39:16you remember where that term came from, but I.
- 1:39:19Don't know Abbott and Costello, I don't know.
- 1:39:21No, that came from a welcome back Carter.
- 1:39:26Yeah, yeah, so close. Josh Travolta.
- 1:39:29Yeah, Up your nose with a rubber hose.
- 1:39:31Yeah. Up your nose with a rubber hose,
- 1:39:33Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I, I'm pretty
- 1:39:38common on Yeah, My, I'll answer you in the same manner you come
- 1:39:44after me, you come after me on blah, blah, blah, blah.
- 1:39:48It's like you come after me. Guns firing, I'm going to just
- 1:39:51fire right back. Well, so that opens up.
- 1:39:54And at that point, I'm kind of looking at the point I'm going
- 1:39:57to decimate you because of you came after me on that point.
- 1:40:01But if someone comes back to me of well, plea, I mean, one thing
- 1:40:06I'm always doing online, that's why I'm always like, please
- 1:40:08explain what exactly you mean, because there's so many ways I
- 1:40:11can take this. And you get about half the
- 1:40:14people that actually will, then the other half don't.
- 1:40:18So I'm just like, please explain so then we can actually have a
- 1:40:21conversation because I don't know which direction you're
- 1:40:24actually coming with us. I don't care if it's something
- 1:40:26that's completely against what I believe.
- 1:40:29It's like please because majority of people only answer
- 1:40:33in one sentence and it's like please explain further on what
- 1:40:36you mean. Yeah.
- 1:40:38I would like to have a conversation with you, I just
- 1:40:41don't understand where you're coming from.
- 1:40:45Right, yeah, it's, it's hard to gauge emotion over text or over
- 1:40:50any sort of like online comments, you know what I mean?
- 1:40:52People can say whatever they want to say and, and, but
- 1:40:54there's no, there's no measure of how it's being delivered, you
- 1:41:02know, so like there's. Something going on in your line
- 1:41:04because I'm hearing a lot of reverb and you're really slow.
- 1:41:11I mean, literally, it kind of sounds like I'm high right now
- 1:41:13listening to you. Oh, really?
- 1:41:16Yeah, it's like, it's like lot of reverb, like a lot of reverb,
- 1:41:23Like you're in a tunnel echoing. No, I mean, I hear you just
- 1:41:30fine. OK, well then it must be on my
- 1:41:33end. Yeah, I don't know, and it
- 1:41:36sounds fun on the recording end, but.
- 1:41:39Yeah, it kind of sounds like Tommy Song right now.
- 1:41:43I'm sorry. Oh hey, now it.
- 1:41:46I mean, who knows what the system?
- 1:41:49Yeah, technology is what it is. But yeah, yeah, it's like.
- 1:41:54Let me let me try this out real quick.
- 1:41:58Yeah, try it out. Alright, How about that?
- 1:42:08You there? I'm here.
- 1:42:12Are you there? What?
- 1:42:14Here we go. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:42:21Let's try that technology doing all.
- 1:42:27What's up, John? Can you hear me?
- 1:42:30All that is. No.
- 1:42:33She's. Arrow.
- 1:42:37Remember where the hell we lost off at?
- 1:42:39All I know is I got my shotgun. All we know is he's got a
- 1:42:45shotgun, and that's where the conversation left off.
- 1:42:47We're back, people. We had some technical
- 1:42:51difficulties, so this is part of the random.
- 1:42:56This is what makes random heathen rambling so random.
- 1:42:59Sometimes shit like this just hits the fan, you know?
- 1:43:04But we're back and, you know, thinking about thinking about
- 1:43:10things and stuff. Do you think I'm going to go
- 1:43:18back to, I'm going to go back to a question that I was at that
- 1:43:20kind of had cued before we get close to wrapping things up
- 1:43:25because we've been going now for almost 2 hours.
- 1:43:29But do you have a sense or do you think that men in general
- 1:43:35have a resistance for being held accountable by other men, right?
- 1:43:46That's sort of like challenge from a peer or from another,
- 1:43:51from another man to be like, you're fucking up, bro, like
- 1:43:55you're you're or you're not, you know what I mean?
- 1:43:58Like that, that challenge that or that, that call to action to
- 1:44:01be held accountable. Do you think that men have a
- 1:44:05resistance to that? Or have you seen that?
- 1:44:10Or or or you know? Oh, yeah, yeah.
- 1:44:14And I mean, that's just human nature.
- 1:44:16No one likes to be called down there.
- 1:44:18So I mean, how you can see that in the animal Kingdom?
- 1:44:22I watched my cats, Mama, cat, Black Mama, taking her stunt
- 1:44:29accountable for the crap that he does, which I call skunk Boy
- 1:44:33because he's black and white and has a stripe running, right.
- 1:44:36He has black on the back and then the stripe running right
- 1:44:38down his back. She gives him shit every day.
- 1:44:43She hisses at him all the time and he looks at her like the F
- 1:44:50you talking about woman and it's like no that's that's just
- 1:44:55nature period. No one likes being.
- 1:44:58Honestly if people can find any reason not to be held
- 1:45:01accountable for something they will and they will find every
- 1:45:04way to squirm out of it. I mean you watch that.
- 1:45:06I mean if you watch a lot of body Cam footage like I do,
- 1:45:11every single person on there is trying not to be held
- 1:45:14accountable for what they're doing.
- 1:45:16That's just normal and they will find every excuse.
- 1:45:25People are always looking for the path of less resistance so
- 1:45:30they're always looking for what can I make my life more
- 1:45:33comfortable with. The only problem is their
- 1:45:36actions usually 9 times out of 10, lead to stuff that makes
- 1:45:41their lives uncomfortable and then they're held accountable to
- 1:45:46it. And then they want to sit there
- 1:45:47and grow up about that, saying that, oh, it's not my fault.
- 1:45:52When it's like in reality, it's, yeah, it's 100% your fault.
- 1:46:00Yeah, It's like, why do we, why do men resist that being held
- 1:46:03accountable? It, it, it does it, it, it, it,
- 1:46:08you know, encroaches on your comfortability.
- 1:46:11But growth doesn't happen in comfortability, right?
- 1:46:15Growth happens in discomfort. So it's a big ego thing, I think
- 1:46:23for a lot of men to, to be first of all, challenged by another
- 1:46:27man. Because we see, I think, you
- 1:46:29know, no matter what, no matter how big you are, no matter how
- 1:46:32strong you are, no matter what your stature is, you know what I
- 1:46:35mean? You see, I think men see other
- 1:46:38men as equals, right? It's it's hard to see somebody.
- 1:46:45Yeah. So like, you know, who are you
- 1:46:47to, to challenge me, that sort of thing, right.
- 1:46:50So there's the ego. Men are always looking at
- 1:46:53another man as they're always sizing them up.
- 1:46:57I mean, even if we met and we're really not that far from you.
- 1:47:01I mean, I can go right up to Natchez Ms., which is 80 miles
- 1:47:04from here, right to Natchez trace straight to Nashville and
- 1:47:10be at your place literally in eight hours.
- 1:47:14And automatically, regardless, we're going to look at each
- 1:47:17other and size each other up immediately.
- 1:47:19I mean, that's just men. It's like men look at everything
- 1:47:22as on that aspect. It's like they size every man up
- 1:47:27they see of and that's just our nature come into effect.
- 1:47:34It's like if I really need to, can I take this person on and
- 1:47:38will I win? That's just mankind.
- 1:47:41That's just men, period. Now what do you almost?
- 1:47:46Have. A We're always butting heads.
- 1:47:50We're like the Rams just always, yeah, hitting each other.
- 1:47:58I mean, that's where like honestly the nature of four
- 1:48:01comes into place is on that basis.
- 1:48:09So do you think it's that we, we we perceive other men as
- 1:48:13threats? I think it's more of a thing of
- 1:48:17we view them as a threat until we get to know them and know
- 1:48:21that we can confide in them. I think that's just how it is.
- 1:48:25And regardless, men will, even though they may say a whole
- 1:48:29bunch of stuff, it all comes down to man.
- 1:48:32It doesn't matter if I came up there, let's say tomorrow to
- 1:48:38your place, we would just have that natural aspect to instinct
- 1:48:44to size each other up. But if anything happened, my
- 1:48:50first thing would be, and your first thing would be to protect
- 1:48:53your family, right? That is one thing we both would
- 1:48:56have on our mind is protect the young, protect the women.
- 1:49:03It doesn't matter what our it doesn't matter what.
- 1:49:06Even if we got off on the wrong foot, it doesn't matter.
- 1:49:10Or are we connected together and was like we're brothers, which I
- 1:49:15don't use that term often. And you know what I feel about
- 1:49:18the term. It doesn't matter what we stand
- 1:49:23as. It'd be on the basis of what can
- 1:49:26we do to protect the women and children and anyone else in the
- 1:49:30vicinity, older, the elderly, whoever.
- 1:49:37Yeah, yeah, I mean, if you if you don't know another man and
- 1:49:42you're confronted with somebody, obviously that's that's I think
- 1:49:45a tendency, right, Is to like size you up, right.
- 1:49:49What what what's what's going on here with this person?
- 1:49:52You know what I mean? Now, obviously you and I have
- 1:49:54talked over the years we've we've established some sort of
- 1:49:57like a relationship, you know, So I mean like if you as a known
- 1:50:01to me, like I know you to some extent and you know me to some
- 1:50:07extent. Like so if we respectively roll
- 1:50:09up to each other's place of residence, you know, it would be
- 1:50:15met with a different degree. Whereas if like a complete
- 1:50:18stranger were. To roll?
- 1:50:19Yeah, definitely. You know what I mean?
- 1:50:21Like it's, it's a different type of dynamic there, I mean.
- 1:50:26I don't know the law. What term that would be put as I
- 1:50:34view it as right now I am in your outer yard, I am not in
- 1:50:39your inner yard whatsoever and vice versa.
- 1:50:44And because we get along great online, we have had our
- 1:50:49differences, but we do get along and but we don't know each other
- 1:50:56on that level to actually consider each other inside our
- 1:50:59inner yards. Right, and that's fine, you know
- 1:51:03what I mean? And that's that's a good thing.
- 1:51:05I think to to to kind of key in on with the conversation is
- 1:51:08that, you know, just because you know, somebody doesn't mean that
- 1:51:11you can bro somebody, right, Because there's the whole
- 1:51:15kinship thing that you talked about it before, Like, you know,
- 1:51:17you don't don't bro me until you know me and I've known you for
- 1:51:22years through long distance. But Even so, we're not on that
- 1:51:26level of associating one another within kinship titles.
- 1:51:31And because we're not there's nothing wrong with that
- 1:51:37inherently. Like, you know what I mean?
- 1:51:38Like we're fine, Like we're, we're good.
- 1:51:40Like we're it's, it's copacetic you, you know.
- 1:51:43Yeah. And I do plan on having that
- 1:51:46happen one day to where we actually do meet up and meet.
- 1:51:49It's just right now in the foreseeable future, where we're
- 1:51:54at is where it's going to stay. I mean, yeah.
- 1:51:56Right when it happens, where it happens, if it happens, I mean
- 1:51:59like if that's woven into the fabric of our existence remains
- 1:52:04to be seen. We can talk about it, we can
- 1:52:07manifest it and it'll it'll be or it won't.
- 1:52:11But like I. Mean we view each other.
- 1:52:15I mean, I view it as we're counsel right now to each other.
- 1:52:19That's basically as far as it goes.
- 1:52:22Yeah, 'cause I mean, like, look, dude, like we have literally,
- 1:52:25like we've, we've gotten pretty visceral in various
- 1:52:30conversations. I've cried in front of you,
- 1:52:32you've cried in front of me. Like, you know, I mean like
- 1:52:35we've. We've Oh yeah, you, you've heard
- 1:52:36my whole shit over the years. It's like and you know.
- 1:52:41Because we've gone through shit, you know what I mean?
- 1:52:43And and we've been that sort of tether, that thread that can be
- 1:52:46like, listen, man, I'm fucked up right now.
- 1:52:50And that's, that's part of a man's identity too, is to know
- 1:52:54where a man can confide in another man without fear of
- 1:52:59being belittled, right? Like a listen, I'm not trying
- 1:53:05to, you know, be like sappy, sorry stories or whatever.
- 1:53:13I don't need validation. I just need a place that I can
- 1:53:15feel safe in being vulnerable. Yeah.
- 1:53:20And I'm the type that is even if you were having a really rough
- 1:53:24time, you're sitting outside by the fire.
- 1:53:26And if I was in your area, I pulled up and it's like, yeah, I
- 1:53:29just go sit there near you, right?
- 1:53:33I wouldn't say anything. I'd just be like, OK, It's like,
- 1:53:38we're just going to sit here in silence.
- 1:53:40And that's what it would be. I view it as.
- 1:53:49You damn Internet. Come on, Internet.
- 1:54:08Come back on. Come on.
- 1:54:11You can do it. You can do it.
- 1:54:13Come on. I trust you.
- 1:54:15You can do it. Hey, you there.
- 1:55:05Yeah. I'm here.
- 1:55:07Yeah. I don't know what happened there
- 1:55:09for the listening to the viewers, if they if there was an
- 1:55:11interruption, that was a that was a technical glitch.
- 1:55:13But yeah, you know, we're going to wrap it up here soon because
- 1:55:16I feel like there's enough things going on here to be like,
- 1:55:20hey, you're done. But yeah, I just.
- 1:55:22Say to hell that is low key trying to.
- 1:55:24Screw as men. Like sometimes that silent
- 1:55:27presence is all we need. Like we don't need that kind of,
- 1:55:31you know, I don't need you to tell me how to solve the
- 1:55:35problem. I just need to know that there's
- 1:55:37somebody here that's holding space with me.
- 1:55:41Yeah, you just need a law reinforcements you don't need.
- 1:55:48Right. Yeah, it's, you know, it's,
- 1:55:52it's, it's, it's like unspoken support, you know what I mean?
- 1:55:57That that unspoken sort of a thing.
- 1:56:02Hey, we're brought through the anger and rage, the Slayer.
- 1:56:08Yeah, yeah. And that's a, that's a, that's a
- 1:56:11visceral emotion that I've, you know, lived with my whole life.
- 1:56:15I've, you know, I can't tell you how many times I've been told,
- 1:56:18you know, you have an anger issue.
- 1:56:21And I go, I listen to that and I hear that and I go, do I really,
- 1:56:27you know, is that, is that something?
- 1:56:30Or is it that, you know, the energy that I carry and, and the
- 1:56:39things that I'm being given to feel right?
- 1:56:45I'm responding to that in a certain way because it doesn't
- 1:56:48align with my life and it doesn't align with my spirit.
- 1:56:52And so it's coming across to the other party or to the other
- 1:56:54person as anger, right? Well, sure, if it comes across
- 1:56:59in that way, am I angry? I'm upset, You know what I mean?
- 1:57:04It it, but I'm not, you know, so, so it, it, it becomes like a
- 1:57:08deeper thing, like, you know, what is 1 truth to one that that
- 1:57:13that is that you know, not to the other.
- 1:57:16Like they're seeing it as you have an anger problem.
- 1:57:19I'm like, I don't think I have a problem with it.
- 1:57:21I thanks to this and you're having a hard time facing.
- 1:57:26Processing all that. You know.
- 1:57:29Yeah, I mean, I tell people I was not, I did not go out to be
- 1:57:33a Manson. I I was shoved into that by the
- 1:57:36people in school and everything is like, yeah, no, you are this
- 1:57:39way. And I'm like, no, I'm not.
- 1:57:41I don't really like Marilyn Manson, but it's like, yeah,
- 1:57:45it's like over the course of the year, it's like, yeah, no, now I
- 1:57:48like Marilyn Manson, but it was like in the time I like the
- 1:57:51hell, I'm not a Manson. I, I don't, it's like, no, I'm
- 1:57:55not. And then it's just, yeah,
- 1:57:58society and, and this is a big thing that a lot of younger
- 1:58:02people don't understand and a lot of people as they get along
- 1:58:06still don't understand. It's not what you believe or how
- 1:58:10you feel, it's how society deems you and puts you into things
- 1:58:14such as during the time of Columbine and everything.
- 1:58:19I got listed as having a hit list.
- 1:58:22I was like what the hell? I got suspended from school for
- 1:58:25like a week, which didn't bother me because I just ran around on
- 1:58:28the property in the woods for a week straight and they told me,
- 1:58:32oh, you got to go get all your class work.
- 1:58:33I'm like the hell with y'all. Y'all, Y'all kicked me out.
- 1:58:36I offered to go to in school suspension.
- 1:58:40Y'all told me I couldn't. So it's like hell with y'all.
- 1:58:43I ain't doing the damn schoolwork.
- 1:58:45You'll give me an F on it. I'm going to soothe the shit out
- 1:58:48of y'all. No, I'm going home.
- 1:58:52I'm going to sleep in and run around in the woods all day,
- 1:58:56right? Because I grew up on five acres
- 1:58:57and we're adjacent to like 100 other acres of woods out in
- 1:59:01Texas, in the Hill Country. It's like, yeah, that's all I
- 1:59:04did for a week straight. I tended to garden at home and
- 1:59:08then I ran in the morning and then I ran around all day in the
- 1:59:10woods and it's like, yeah, no. And then they because of just to
- 1:59:16justify what they said at the time, I had like a Mel Gibson
- 1:59:19mullet in high school. That's what I had pretty much my
- 1:59:22whole time in high school. I turned around and got a
- 1:59:25straight on Mohawk and then went to Hot Topic and bought a bunch
- 1:59:29of just saw a goth metal heavy metal attire and that's what I
- 1:59:34wore for the rest of my time in high school because I'm like
- 1:59:37screw y'all, y'all put me in that box.
- 1:59:39Guess what? Now you'll get it.
- 1:59:42And then I bought a switchblade from the Dam mall and you and
- 1:59:48turned that on multiple people. I learned how to not a
- 1:59:51switchblade, but a butterfly. Yeah, I learned how to work.
- 1:59:55That over the course of the week and then sit there and turned it
- 1:59:58on multiple people during and throughout my whole time in high
- 2:00:01school. That and I didn't give a shit.
- 2:00:04I just lit up cigarettes in the middle of class.
- 2:00:05After that I'm like, I don't give a shit.
- 2:00:07You don't like me fucking, they spell me.
- 2:00:11Yeah, you know, but you know, dude, I hear you, man.
- 2:00:13And I, you know, that's hurt, that that's pain, That's that's,
- 2:00:20that's trauma rooted in something.
- 2:00:22I hope you know, you know, it's men have that.
- 2:00:26Like we all have a story. We all have a place that we can
- 2:00:32ultimately, if we're willing to face it, we have a place that we
- 2:00:37can find our self rooted in, right a moment in time, like
- 2:00:49what happened at a certain period point in our life.
- 2:00:51And that's that's hard to face. That's it's, it's probably the
- 2:00:54most difficult thing for me, at least personally to have to face
- 2:00:59is like, why am I the way I am now?
- 2:01:01I can blame it on anybody else. Y'all did this to me, you did
- 2:01:05this to me, you made me the way I am, blah blah, blah.
- 2:01:09And while there may be some truth to that, because of the
- 2:01:13environment that we were exposed to and, and, and it caused us to
- 2:01:20respond to our world at that time, what excuse do we as men
- 2:01:25have now to still behave in such diabolical ways?
- 2:01:29What are we blaming it on? Past?
- 2:01:31You did this to me 25 years ago. You know what?
- 2:01:33Fuck that. Yeah.
- 2:01:36Fuck that noise, man. Like I, you know what I mean?
- 2:01:39Like, why the hell am I blaming shit now on on things that
- 2:01:43happened 2025, thirty years ago, you know, grow up.
- 2:01:47Like I'm like, take ownership of of our lives.
- 2:01:51You know what I mean? Like, I understand it.
- 2:01:55I get it. And I respect the space where
- 2:01:57that lands because it needs to be acknowledged.
- 2:02:01It needs to be given that space. Let let's talk about let let's
- 2:02:05let's face that dirty, nasty bullshit.
- 2:02:08You know what I mean? Yeah, I think that also has
- 2:02:11during those times because actually that time that went on,
- 2:02:14Yeah, most people view that as, oh, that's very, oh, you went
- 2:02:19through all this trauma. You went through that.
- 2:02:20I'm like, honestly, that was the most alleviating time of my life
- 2:02:24because what very little out. And, and for being a teenager,
- 2:02:301617 years old, everyone knows what that's like.
- 2:02:34That amount of, I mean, just your mind being the way it is
- 2:02:38during the time, it's like, I literally did not have to hide
- 2:02:41anything from that point on. I just went completely off the
- 2:02:44wall and just like, I don't have to hide anymore.
- 2:02:48I could be exactly as fucked up weird as I want.
- 2:02:52I mean, like I said, I was lighting up cigarettes in
- 2:02:54school. I was fighting people.
- 2:02:56I was drinking beer and fucking glass or I didn't give a shit
- 2:03:00anymore. And I told him, you don't like
- 2:03:01it fucking kicked me out. Yeah.
- 2:03:06It's like, I don't care anymore. It's like you all removed
- 2:03:09everything of a societal pressure upon me.
- 2:03:16Oh, excuse me, But yeah, no, I didn't have to conform anymore
- 2:03:20to anyone. And that literally was the
- 2:03:24literally, looking back at it, that was the best thing in my
- 2:03:26life because like I said, for one, I got suspended for like 4
- 2:03:31or five days, so I got to just run around and do what the hell
- 2:03:33I wanted all day long. 2, everyone thought I was already
- 2:03:37nuts. So it's like basically I had to
- 2:03:41be Martin Riggs just running around just off the wall nuts
- 2:03:45and have fun. And majority of myself, I just
- 2:03:48had fun. I just fucked with people left
- 2:03:50and right from that point on. Like they said, oh, if you had
- 2:03:54hit list, would you actually, would I be on it?
- 2:03:56And I'm like, oh hell yeah, bitch, you're the first one on
- 2:03:58that list. I mean, and I don't look back on
- 2:04:03it as oh, poor pity me or anything.
- 2:04:05I'll just view it as hell, Hey, I got to have a lot of fun in my
- 2:04:10last couple of years in high school because yeah, everyone
- 2:04:12thought I was nuts anyway. So it's like, hey, play into it.
- 2:04:19But OK, going back to the original topic of our of this
- 2:04:24podcast, younger men and all men, but younger specifically
- 2:04:36because this is who we're kind of orienting this toward younger
- 2:04:40men who are starting to come up in their late teenagehood.
- 2:04:46They need to look at because of white collar work and is done
- 2:04:53that's AI is going to take that over.
- 2:04:56If you try to go into that field of work, you're going to be dead
- 2:04:59in five years in that work. You do not even have to go to a
- 2:05:03school. Do not waste your time on its
- 2:05:06trade school. Go into a trade, look in the
- 2:05:10phone book, look up on Google, look up all the trades, what
- 2:05:14you're interested in, whether it's plumbing, electrical,
- 2:05:18welding, whatever. Welding I'd kind of steer away
- 2:05:21from because of welders are actually kind of a diamond
- 2:05:25dozen. But electricians, plumbers are a
- 2:05:33diamond are needed more than anything else.
- 2:05:38Younger people and anyone even I don't care if you're 50, just
- 2:05:45start going down the list of local ones in your area.
- 2:05:48Start calling them up, start working.
- 2:05:50Put it this way, you'll at least make $100.00 an hour a day.
- 2:05:56That's something to say. Majority of people don't even
- 2:05:58make that amount of money this day and age.
- 2:06:01Call them up, start working and then when you learn enough start
- 2:06:07and then mean time read everything you can about learn
- 2:06:11everything you can about what is the way it should be.
- 2:06:15Then going off and once you get your license in that trade, then
- 2:06:20you can actually make some real money like an electric.
- 2:06:23An actual certified electrician can actually make literally
- 2:06:28$1000 a day, and that's just doing basic.
- 2:06:33That's not even talking about industrial electrical.
- 2:06:37Industrial electrical is a completely different thing.
- 2:06:40To me, that was the fun stuff, was the industrial.
- 2:06:42But that's the one thing you mess up on one thing.
- 2:06:47Yeah, You become a a crispy critter real quick.
- 2:06:53Yeah, that's where you really got to pay attention to what the
- 2:06:57hell you're doing. But just a basic electrician
- 2:07:00just So what you can get about around on on for bringing home
- 2:07:05even just a few $100 a day doing residential work, which is
- 2:07:10really what matters. If you want to get into the
- 2:07:14industrial stuff, that is a whole different thing you need
- 2:07:17to look into, But someone that is actually a certified
- 2:07:21electrician, especially if you can get in with a contract with
- 2:07:24these companies that are putting up these homes all over the
- 2:07:28everywhere you go, every area has them, they're putting up
- 2:07:31these homes left and right. You can get that contract to
- 2:07:33where you're actually installing the electrical on it.
- 2:07:37You can make well over $1000 a day doing that only five days a
- 2:07:42week, sometimes less than that, sometimes the only three or
- 2:07:46four, depends on how quick you get everything done.
- 2:07:48But you're still making the same money.
- 2:07:50And you have to look at it this way.
- 2:07:52You're getting paid, let's just say $5000 a week.
- 2:07:54If you get it done in 3-3 days, $5000 pay for three days of
- 2:08:00work. That's you can't beat that.
- 2:08:04And younger people, that is the number one thing I suggest them
- 2:08:10to go into is go make that and then you can finally have
- 2:08:14everything you want. Everyone gripes about they can't
- 2:08:17afford this, they can't afford that, they can't afford a house,
- 2:08:19they can't afford anything. Get into trades, make some
- 2:08:24money. And then let's look at the next
- 2:08:27step. Let's start looking at, let's
- 2:08:35start setting up basically communes.
- 2:08:39I'm not saying compounds, communes, a bunch of people go
- 2:08:44in, buy a piece of land, build houses on them.
- 2:08:48I don't care if they're shotgun houses 10 foot wide by 30 foot
- 2:08:51long. You going off?
- 2:08:55Build those. A group of people, let's say 5
- 2:08:58people go in, start doing that. Going off.
- 2:09:01We could start building up what we all view as a actual heathen
- 2:09:06lifestyle if there's plenty of land that is cheap.
- 2:09:11And you know what? Regardless, plumbing and a life
- 2:09:14repo wherever you go is always necessary.
- 2:09:19It's 100% necessary whether you're in down here in
- 2:09:24Louisiana, middle of the state where there is no one, or if
- 2:09:27you're in New York City, Seattle, Los Angeles, San
- 2:09:31Antonio, Dallas, wherever you can make money hands over fist,
- 2:09:40especially if you do good work. That's the big thing.
- 2:09:43A lot of electricians and plumbers don't do good work, but
- 2:09:46if you do good work, you will make money.
- 2:09:51And at that point, we can start looking at creating a future for
- 2:09:57heathens among other people to actually progress and actually
- 2:10:03do something, not just oh oh poor pity meat crap across the
- 2:10:07board. Yeah, I hear what you're saying,
- 2:10:10man. You know, it's, it's it's, I
- 2:10:14can't really argue any of it. You know, it could work for the
- 2:10:23listeners, you know what I mean? Like for the audience, for for
- 2:10:29people who are either men themselves or who have influence
- 2:10:35in, in a young man's life or who share this, you know, you're
- 2:10:41talking to myself and, and, and John here, you know, who are,
- 2:10:45you know, 40 plus years into their life.
- 2:10:50We have experiences, we have thoughts, we have ideas, we have
- 2:10:53vision on things. What do you do with all this
- 2:10:59when you're maybe newly exposed? You're you're, you're coming up
- 2:11:03into your own adulthood. Maybe a man, a young man hears
- 2:11:08this or whatever. I would say it's a huge order to
- 2:11:13fill. When you hear about all these
- 2:11:16things and you go, where do we even fucking start?
- 2:11:19I would say start today, whatever day it is you hear this
- 2:11:26and. Literally you, you getting good
- 2:11:28with those trades literally once 10 years.
- 2:11:32I mean it's going to take someone a couple of years to get
- 2:11:34going, but once they do, even if they won't ever get married,
- 2:11:37they just stay single and 10 years.
- 2:11:39I could be 100% retired. This is true.
- 2:11:43I mean, it's, it's, it's not wrong.
- 2:11:45What I'm trying to, what I'm trying to focus in on though,
- 2:11:48John, is to be like, start today and for the next 30 days,
- 2:11:54whatever it is that you're doing right, whatever it is that
- 2:11:57you're, however it is that you're catching, catching this
- 2:12:01podcast right from today to the 30 days from now, pick one hard
- 2:12:08thing. Pick a hard thing that you need
- 2:12:11to do. I don't care if it's getting up
- 2:12:14at 5:00 AM instead of 6:00 AM or going to the gym or, you know,
- 2:12:20eating right or not drinking, not smoking, whatever.
- 2:12:23It is like, pick a hard thing daily, track it.
- 2:12:28You're going to miss certain days.
- 2:12:30You're going to hit certain days.
- 2:12:34You got to start somewhere. You got to, you got to establish
- 2:12:38the groundwork. You got to lay the blue, you got
- 2:12:40to, you got to go off the blueprint.
- 2:12:42You got to have a strong foundation to go off of because
- 2:12:50you have today and the rest of your life ahead of you, however
- 2:12:54long or short that is. You got to go one day at a time.
- 2:12:57You got to be present in that thing.
- 2:13:00So you got to have a foundation to work off of because of all
- 2:13:03the things that John's talking about about, you know, getting
- 2:13:06into trade and learning these skills and all that.
- 2:13:08Yes, it's going to require discipline.
- 2:13:12It's going to require getting uncomfortable.
- 2:13:15It's going to require being in pain.
- 2:13:20But that pain and that suffering, this one right here
- 2:13:23is that's. A.
- 2:13:24Honda done with purpose. No.
- 2:13:26That's a Honda. It's to teach, it's to learn.
- 2:13:28It's it's condition 600 yourself, right?
- 2:13:32BT600. So you condition yourself in
- 2:13:36ways that are manageable and that are repeatable, and then
- 2:13:42you apply that discipline into aspects of your life that are
- 2:13:47going to further and continue your approach to things, you
- 2:13:54know. So if it's not getting into an
- 2:13:57electrical school or plumbing school or any other trade
- 2:13:59schools today, maybe today for you, the listener, whatever the
- 2:14:03viewer starts by waking up at a certain time, doing push ups,
- 2:14:08hurting yourself, suffering with purpose.
- 2:14:15Not not to not to endure suffering negligibly, but to do
- 2:14:21it with purpose is to be like, I don't want to do it, but that's
- 2:14:25what discipline is about. Discipline is not about
- 2:14:27enjoyment. It's about consistency, right?
- 2:14:32And that's where men, that's where leaders, that's where
- 2:14:38people establish themselves as by going through those
- 2:14:42consistent steps and establishing themselves in that
- 2:14:45way. So that's, that's, that's what I
- 2:14:50want to say about everything that you've said, John, And
- 2:14:52thank you for, you know, sharing what you've, what you've shared
- 2:14:56and, and, and being as transparent as, as, as you have,
- 2:15:00because I hear you, man. I, you know, I think it's, I
- 2:15:02think it's valuable things for people to understand.
- 2:15:04It's like a a trade. A skill is valuable still, even
- 2:15:08in this digital age when everything seems to be automated
- 2:15:12and whatnot. You still need boots on the
- 2:15:15ground, You still need hands in the dirt, you know, people in
- 2:15:20the trench. It's as much as it's much as
- 2:15:24required, as it has always has been.
- 2:15:26Yeah, it'll never go away. Yeah, I don't care what AI does
- 2:15:33now. There's going to be things AI
- 2:15:35does come in that's going to alleviate a lot of issues.
- 2:15:38At the same time, it's going to create some issues.
- 2:15:45However, there is as of right now, at least for the next 10
- 2:15:51plus years, there is no robot that's going to be able to come
- 2:15:56in and do that stuff like a human being will be able to do.
- 2:16:00I mean, I suggest people, if they're single, get into truck
- 2:16:05driving, drive over the road. Yeah, it's it sucks.
- 2:16:11It does. However, the amount of money you
- 2:16:15can actually make if you actually do it right is
- 2:16:22insurmountable, especially if you don't have a place to go to,
- 2:16:26you don't have a home, you don't have anything.
- 2:16:28It is. You can just make 65 KA year and
- 2:16:32just keep saving that money. Do that for a couple of years
- 2:16:36then move on to something else. Yeah, hell, even six months
- 2:16:41doing that is like 30 + K make. Make that money while you can,
- 2:16:47especially when you're young and you are able to do that when you
- 2:16:51get older. You're not, as you're not a
- 2:16:57spring chicken anymore. Right.
- 2:17:00You ain't going to be able to be like, no, I'm, it's like, yeah,
- 2:17:03I'm tired. I mean, that's the one thing.
- 2:17:06Anyone tired Grandpa? That's too damn bad.
- 2:17:10You keep digging. Yeah, especially when you get in
- 2:17:16your 40s, it's like I'm tired. It's like I'm really damn tired.
- 2:17:20And it's nice to have it be it. It's nice to have 100,000 in the
- 2:17:26bank by that point towards like, OK, I could take a year off from
- 2:17:31working if I really want to. But yeah, no men.
- 2:17:40And this was basically what I'm trying to come down to upon
- 2:17:42everything here. Men need to quit trying to come
- 2:17:45up with excuses for everything this day and age.
- 2:17:49They need to get out and actually do some work.
- 2:17:53Yeah, it's no excuse. Yeah, when you're young, there
- 2:17:58is no excuse. Oh, everything is in your mind
- 2:18:01and your mind will come up with everything there is to say.
- 2:18:04Oh, I want to take it easy. And the truth is, is reality.
- 2:18:08No, you don't need to. Now is at that time is when you
- 2:18:13need to be jumping on it to get it done.
- 2:18:17Because like I said, at 40, having 100K in the bank, or at
- 2:18:20least let's just say even 30K in the bank, is a lot better than
- 2:18:25being 40 and not having a damn diamond today.
- 2:18:30Facts. Yeah, I mean money.
- 2:18:34Money talks, you know what I mean?
- 2:18:36It's we, we we live in that age now where that's it.
- 2:18:42It does so. And people want to say now is
- 2:18:46any is, oh, it's different than what it was before.
- 2:18:48Not really. You always needed money.
- 2:18:51I mean, that's always something that's always been a.
- 2:18:53Value of the dollar has changed too.
- 2:18:57So Oh yeah, it definitely has. So which means you need to make
- 2:19:00more than 30 K, You need to make like 100K just to cover what 30K
- 2:19:05would have done 30 years ago. Yeah.
- 2:19:08So be smart, be resourceful, know where your energy is being
- 2:19:15applied to in valuable ways, you know?
- 2:19:22And yeah, we're going to wrap this podcast up because we've
- 2:19:24been going out for over 2 hours and well.
- 2:19:29Technical difficulties we've only been.
- 2:19:32Well, even with technical difficulties, we've been going
- 2:19:36for a good two hours strong. So yeah, that's true.
- 2:19:40I'm going to, I'm going to just give 3 rapid fire questions to
- 2:19:44you, John, and they're very simple.
- 2:19:47First thing that comes to your mind, you don't have to add
- 2:19:51anything to it unless you want to, but just three rapid fire
- 2:19:55questions before I wrap this up. So first, all right, comfort or
- 2:20:01growth? Growth discipline or motivation?
- 2:20:13OK, that's a load of one. Yeah, it is because they go hand
- 2:20:22in hand. To have growth, you have to be
- 2:20:27motivated and be motivated you have to have growth.
- 2:20:34So discipline. So so motivation over
- 2:20:36discipline. Yeah.
- 2:20:39Oh, yeah. No, definitely.
- 2:20:40I feel like there's not like is you, you have to have if you're
- 2:20:46motivated to do stuff. And let's just say, oh, let's
- 2:20:51put it this way. Put it this way.
- 2:20:56I'm going to take two scenarios and compare them.
- 2:21:06Discipline over motivation is like the opening scene to save
- 2:21:09in Private Ryan. Yeah.
- 2:21:11Event storming Normandy. Yeah, motivation over discipline
- 2:21:18is like fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.
- 2:21:23So which do you go with? What's your What's your?
- 2:21:26What's your rapid fire answer? Discipline or motivation?
- 2:21:32Honestly, you have to have motivation because if you don't
- 2:21:35have motivation, you're not going to get up to do anything.
- 2:21:37Yeah, OK. Even if it even if that
- 2:21:40motivation is fear, which the majority of the time you grow
- 2:21:45motivation through fear. So I have to go with motivation
- 2:21:49over that. But it's but both of them and
- 2:21:55take a same probably Ryan at the beginning.
- 2:21:59You see the beginning, the people who do not have
- 2:22:01motivation, what they're doing, they're sitting there crying
- 2:22:04while clutching their pearls on the beach praying for salvation
- 2:22:11when it's like, no, your salvation is getting your ass up
- 2:22:14and going and doing that. So I have to go with motivation
- 2:22:17on that one. All right.
- 2:22:19And then the last one, maybe the heaviest 1 Lone wolf or
- 2:22:29brotherhood. OK, my views on the lone wolf
- 2:22:37mentality is absolute BS. It is a crock because a lone
- 2:22:44wolf in nature is one that has been outcast from his society.
- 2:22:51He is looking either one or two things.
- 2:22:53He's looking for another pack to fall into or he's looking for
- 2:22:59death. That's the only way it works in
- 2:23:05reality. The lone wolf mentality is like
- 2:23:08crock of shit you had. A lone wolf is always looking
- 2:23:18for brotherhood. They're looking for that pack.
- 2:23:24So that one is the simplest 1. You just asked me.
- 2:23:29All right. I appreciate that, man.
- 2:23:32Yeah. No, the lone wolf mentality is
- 2:23:34the absolute biggest lie. It's as big as a lie at it's as
- 2:23:41big of a lie, if not more than men are too masculine.
- 2:23:50Women want masculine, even in liberal circles of I've been all
- 2:23:57around the country, I've been around Antifa, I've been around
- 2:24:00all those groups. You could tell very easily those
- 2:24:04women that sit there and tell men they need to be less
- 2:24:08masculine. As soon as those men become less
- 2:24:11masculine, they push them aside and they respond to the ones who
- 2:24:16are masculine. You just have to know how to
- 2:24:18work on their level. So yeah.
- 2:24:26So growth, motivation, brotherhood, belonging.
- 2:24:32Yeah, you already here first folks, or you heard it from John
- 2:24:37and they, you know, rapid fire responses.
- 2:24:41This is this is one man talking to another man for the last two
- 2:24:46hours about. And I've never had a group fall
- 2:24:49into I've been around the hoodoo circles here in New Orleans.
- 2:24:54I've been in Antifa circles in Seattle and Chicago, and I will
- 2:25:01tell you Darwin wins out nine times out of 10.
- 2:25:08Oh yeah. Oh, yeah, yeah.
- 2:25:10What is it? The the evolution, right.
- 2:25:15Like, you know what I mean? The, the fucking theory of
- 2:25:20elimination. Not an elimination, but you
- 2:25:22know. Yeah, I know what you mean.
- 2:25:24But Darwin and Nietzsche went out nine times.
- 2:25:27Another 10, Yeah. Yeah.
- 2:25:29Those. Two, you know.
- 2:25:32Yeah, after that read play DoH. You basically have society
- 2:25:36completely figured out and you can work every person upon what
- 2:25:41actually on the level they're going upon.
- 2:25:47Well, man, this has been read throat.
- 2:25:51Read what throat is. After that read throat.
- 2:25:54Throat is good for the personal growth.
- 2:25:59Who? Thoreau, I forgot his last
- 2:26:06event. His Henry Henry Henry Henry
- 2:26:09Thoreau, that one. Yeah, him.
- 2:26:13Oh. Oh yeah, OK, I forgot.
- 2:26:15Read him. He he's, he's like James
- 2:26:20Fenimore Cooper. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 2:26:23They're really great on talking about the internal aspects of
- 2:26:27how people actually are, especially if you read the The
- 2:26:32Deer Slayer series, which is Last Mohicans and everything.
- 2:26:36Yeah, they're really good at talking.
- 2:26:38About Henry David Thoreau, yeah. Henry David Thoreau.
- 2:26:41Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah.
- 2:26:44And after that, Walt, Walt would Walt Whitman.
- 2:26:53So much, so much out here for, for, for people, men, women,
- 2:26:58whatever. You are right.
- 2:27:01But yeah, this podcast has been very focused on masculinity.
- 2:27:08We, we've obviously touched on a lot of different aspects of that
- 2:27:12in and around the path, right? We've gone off the beaten path,
- 2:27:17we've gone down some rabbit holes, we've had some technical
- 2:27:20difficulties. We've just kind of gone all over
- 2:27:23the place and I'm anxious with this one.
- 2:27:27Like I'm sure that there will be comments being weighed in.
- 2:27:33Hopefully, I hope you know. So if you made it this far and
- 2:27:36you hear this call to action, please share your thoughts.
- 2:27:40I don't care if you're a man or a woman or you don't identify in
- 2:27:44any sort of way. What are your thoughts?
- 2:27:47What do you think? Where, where, where do you sit
- 2:27:49with, you know, where masculinity is in the modern era
- 2:27:56and, and how we can bring back and, and revitalize masculinity
- 2:28:03without this inherent, almost inherent toxicity that seems to
- 2:28:09be associated with what it is to be a man and what it is to be
- 2:28:13masculine. You know, would love to.
- 2:28:16Hear this all got through, but hopefully it works for even one
- 2:28:23person. But yeah, if you want to tell me
- 2:28:28I'm full of it, go ahead. Believe me.
- 2:28:32The comments are open right wherever it is, if you.
- 2:28:35Don't. The comments are open.
- 2:28:36You can hit me up on my Facebook, Twitter, whatever.
- 2:28:41You may not like what you find on like Twitter, but.
- 2:28:44Twitter's a fucking hell hole anyway.
- 2:28:46And has. Been fun.
- 2:28:47It's fun. Twitter's fun because it's just
- 2:28:50anarchy. I I had one and I never.
- 2:28:54I just, I'm like, I can't even with this.
- 2:28:56That's what Twitter is so damn fun to be on.
- 2:29:00It it is. It's like Mad Max out there.
- 2:29:03Oh, it is. Yeah.
- 2:29:04It's complete chaos. But everybody else?
- 2:29:08It's like a lot. It's like a killing rest.
- 2:29:11You throw them through a window, you drown them three times.
- 2:29:14It just keeps coming back. Yeah, yeah, it's that boomerang
- 2:29:18of doom. Yeah.
- 2:29:20Yeah. But anyway, John, stick around.
- 2:29:24I'll touch base with you when I start recording this.
- 2:29:26For everybody else, it's been a wild night.
- 2:29:28It's been a crazy night. We've talked about a lot of
- 2:29:31things. We've had technical
- 2:29:32difficulties. You've seen it in real time, or
- 2:29:35listen to it in real time, whatever.
- 2:29:37You're hey, hold on, hold on. We're not done.
- 2:29:40We're not done with tonight. Just got to rack it, rack it,
- 2:29:47rack it, rack it. Marmot.
- 2:29:50OK, that was a shotgun. That was a shot.
- 2:29:54Get out into the fuck dude. I'm pretty sure my parents are
- 2:30:03going to wake up now. Be like.
- 2:30:05Shooting your shot, did you just fire around?
- 2:30:07Did you just? Yeah, he just, he did it, yes.
- 2:30:12He did. I saw it shot into the air.
- 2:30:15Yeah, that was it. I'm going to clip that, by the
- 2:30:18way. That's that's.
