Latest / Inside the Birds: A Philadelphia Eagles Podcast / ITB: Could Jonathan Greenard Being Limited On Eagles First Injury Be A Positive Sign
Transcript
- 0:09Speaker 1: Inside the Birds is back. What's going on, everybody? It's
- 0:14Speaker 1: Jeff Mosher and Adam Kaplan, and it's a really exciting
- 0:17Speaker 1: time for us because even though nobody likes injuries, but
- 0:21Speaker 1: the Eagles released their first injury report of the new
- 0:25Speaker 1: 2026 season on Wednesday, and it was a very short list,
- 0:29Speaker 1: so that is good news, Adam. But it's also, for
- 0:33Speaker 1: one guy in particular, it's not necessarily the most telltale news,
- 0:36Speaker 1: and that's obviously Jonathan Garnard being limited at practice, which
- 0:40Speaker 1: I don't think that should surprise anybody. We talked about
- 0:44Speaker 1: what you missed that much time. You've got to ramp up.
- 0:47Speaker 2: There was no way he was going to be having
- 0:48Speaker 2: a full practice. Like, this is not going to happen.
- 0:50Speaker 2: He hadn't practiced. His last practice with the Vikings, I believe,
- 0:54Speaker 2: was December 19th. Now, it's presumed last week when the
- 1:01Speaker 2: media wasn't there, he started working.
- 1:03Speaker 3: But he needs a ramp-up period. As much as Vic
- 1:05Speaker 3: Fangio hates the ramp-up period... but he's going to need
- 1:09Speaker 3: a little bit of time here.
- 1:10Speaker 2: Whenever he plays and if it's as soon as this week,
- 1:12Speaker 2: which would be surprising, but if he does, you expect
- 1:14Speaker 2: him not to play 60 snaps.
- 1:17Speaker 3: They kind of ease him in a little bit.
- 1:18Speaker 1: Right.
- 1:19Speaker 2: The great thing is he'll have a ton of depth.
- 1:21Speaker 2: It is great to have depth at edge, man. It's
- 1:23Speaker 2: like having depth in pitching. Baseball, hard to find, man.
- 1:27Speaker 2: It's hard to find. When you have it, it's great. Yeah,
- 1:31Speaker 2: only two players on their injury report. Now the commandos,
- 1:34Speaker 2: we'll talk about them in a couple of minutes.
- 1:35Speaker 3: They've got.
- 1:36Speaker 2: A bunch on both sides of the football. Actually, a
- 1:39Speaker 2: couple important ones. But the big thing is Zach Granard
- 1:42Speaker 2: is working, coming back from his pectoral strain. And then
- 1:46Speaker 2: we knew about Stowers' hamstring injury. He had a sleeve
- 1:49Speaker 2: on his right leg, I noticed at training camp, when there.
- 1:52Speaker 2: And I was like, all right, we'll have to keep
- 1:55Speaker 2: an eye on this. But there's a reason why I
- 1:58Speaker 2: probably have four tight ends on the roster.
- 2:01Speaker 3: E.J. Jenkins is one of them. Absolutely. Absolutely.
- 2:04Speaker 1: Like you said, this is a validation of a process, right?
- 2:06Speaker 1: Of always being deep at the edge as, as much
- 2:09Speaker 1: as they possibly can. They are built to withstand. I mean,
- 2:11Speaker 1: obviously you want him and they were last year, they
- 2:14Speaker 1: were a team that until they got Jalen Phillips, they
- 2:17Speaker 1: weren't as consistent in the edge rush as they wanted
- 2:19Speaker 1: to be. And then Jalen Phillips came along and they
- 2:22Speaker 1: got more consistent. Now Phillips is gone. Grenard's supposed to
- 2:25Speaker 1: be that guy. We'll see. He's still got to get
- 2:28Speaker 1: through two practices. If by somehow he's able to practice
- 2:32Speaker 1: by Friday in full, that would be an amazing to
- 2:34Speaker 1: me thing for him and the team. I won't rule
- 2:38Speaker 1: it out, but, you know, we'll just have to see
- 2:40Speaker 1: as it goes along. But again, like you said, they
- 2:42Speaker 1: should be able to withstand it. The other the other
- 2:46Speaker 1: thing I wanted to bring up was that. You know,
- 2:51Speaker 1: Landon Dickerson not being on the list. We'll get to
- 2:53Speaker 1: the next name on the list.
- 2:53Speaker 3: Oh, yeah. None of them. Yeah, none of them are
- 2:55Speaker 3: on it.
- 2:56Speaker 1: So I thought that was really interesting because in the
- 2:58Speaker 1: final practice that was open to the meet, the last
- 3:01Speaker 1: practice of training camp before the final preseason game, I
- 3:05Speaker 1: think I spoke about this with you in a pod
- 3:07Speaker 1: around that time. They were rotating him and Drew Kendall
- 3:11Speaker 1: and nobody else. They were just bringing him out of
- 3:13Speaker 1: the first team to put Drew Kendall on And, you know,
- 3:17Speaker 1: it just was something I filed away in my notebook
- 3:19Speaker 1: to see if that would mean anything for week one,
- 3:21Speaker 1: if that was just body preservation or if something was
- 3:24Speaker 1: bothering him. But here he is, not on the list,
- 3:28Speaker 1: full participant. So that's really good news for him in
- 3:30Speaker 1: the offensive line.
- 3:31Speaker 3: Yeah, look, the great thing is their team is intact here.
- 3:37Speaker 2: Really, they only have two players on the injury report,
- 3:40Speaker 2: one from each side of football, one who's supporting Grenard,
- 3:42Speaker 2: no question about it. Whenever he's ready, Uh, it's just,
- 3:46Speaker 2: they have to make sure that he, they kind of
- 3:48Speaker 2: get an idea of what he can handle. And obviously the,
- 3:51Speaker 2: the communication is super important between the medical staff, training
- 3:55Speaker 2: staff and the player and Fangio. He's got to know
- 3:59Speaker 2: when he's ready, how many snaps he can handle and
- 4:01Speaker 2: how they'll recommend to him. This is what we think
- 4:04Speaker 2: you should do with him. We know Vic only likes
- 4:06Speaker 2: using three.
- 4:07Speaker 3: Well, guess what? He might have to use four when
- 4:09Speaker 3: Grenard's ready.
- 4:10Speaker 1: Well, that's a great point, right? Because they kept AJ
- 4:13Speaker 1: Epinesa on the team.
- 4:14Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 4:15Speaker 1: So you could say, hey, look, even without Grenard, they
- 4:18Speaker 1: had their three-man rotation of Jalex Hunt, Nolan Smith, and
- 4:22Speaker 1: Arnold Ebikidi, but they kept A.J. Epinesa. And it's not
- 4:26Speaker 1: like Epinesa is going to give you like 65% to
- 4:27Speaker 1: 70% special teams. That was for the rotation. At this point,
- 4:34Speaker 1: I'm ready to say, I think Vic is definitely going
- 4:36Speaker 1: to expand that rotation of four or else why is
- 4:38Speaker 1: AJ Epinesa on the team? Do you want him to
- 4:41Speaker 1: collect dust or can you actually use him? Maybe not
- 4:43Speaker 1: a whole lot, but just to get him on the
- 4:45Speaker 1: field to keep your rotation fresh. Or else why else
- 4:48Speaker 1: would he occupy a spot on the 53?
- 4:49Speaker 2: Yeah, because you don't, if everybody's healthy, you would have five.
- 4:54Speaker 2: And that makes no sense. In fact, that's where you
- 4:56Speaker 2: would have him on the practice squad. You'd ask him
- 4:58Speaker 2: to do that because you would tell him, look, Vic doesn't,
- 5:03Speaker 2: How he could just say, look, Vic doesn't play five.
- 5:05Speaker 3: He doesn't even play four.
- 5:06Speaker 2: We have to have four active because if, God forbid,
- 5:08Speaker 2: somebody gets hurt, we need somebody to come in to
- 5:10Speaker 2: be the first guy off the bench. And then at Panessa,
- 5:13Speaker 2: you know, he has a variety of things he can
- 5:16Speaker 2: do because he's long and he's a good run stopper.
- 5:19Speaker 2: But he had a good training camp. Like, you know,
- 5:21Speaker 2: the Browns, it is amazing how the Browns didn't, there
- 5:24Speaker 2: was something they didn't like on his physical. Well, the
- 5:26Speaker 2: Eagles had no problem with it.
- 5:27Speaker 3: He's been healthy. He's not on the injury report. Yeah. Yeah.
- 5:31Speaker 1: Really strange.
- 5:32Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 5:32Speaker 2: You know, it's not like it was like one year
- 5:34Speaker 2: and $ 5 million they had with Cleveland. So he's making
- 5:36Speaker 2: far less than that here. But he's going to be
- 5:38Speaker 2: a deep backup. We'll see what happens through Friday's practice. Remember,
- 5:43Speaker 2: Friday's a late practice. We're on a regular practice week.
- 5:46Speaker 2: Thursday's a long one.
- 5:49Speaker 3: And then Friday is a short one, just around an hour.
- 5:53Speaker 3: And it's light.
- 5:55Speaker 2: And then you've got to walk through Saturday and Sunday
- 5:56Speaker 2: at 425.
- 5:57Speaker 3: Now, I hate to bring this up. People know I'm
- 6:01Speaker 3: crazy with the weather. Oh, yeah.
- 6:03Speaker 1: We already got a comment about Hurricane Kaplan.
- 6:06Speaker 3: I had to do it, but look.
- 6:07Speaker 1: By the way, just to correct everybody, just to make sure,
- 6:09Speaker 1: it is Tropical Storm Kaplan.
- 6:11Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 6:12Speaker 1: We don't want to borrow from another famous or formerly
- 6:15Speaker 1: famous meteorologist in the Philadelphia area.
- 6:17Speaker 3: Hurricane Schwartz, yeah.
- 6:18Speaker 1: That's right. That's right.
- 6:20Speaker 3: Sunday, okay. Let me see if we got hour by
- 6:23Speaker 3: hour yet. We do. Rain all morning. It rains. Under
- 6:29Speaker 3: that zip code of 19148, which is where the stadium is.
- 6:33Speaker 3: Love it. Hour by hour. We have it this far out.
- 6:36Speaker 3: I'm Mr. Hour by Hour. This is how I kind
- 6:38Speaker 3: of run everything. Yeah. Should be okay by kickoff. Was
- 6:44Speaker 3: it 425?
- 6:45Speaker 1: Yeah, 425. I know that there was some talk about
- 6:47Speaker 1: some mid-afternoon thunderstorms potentially.
- 6:50Speaker 3: No, it's there.
- 6:51Speaker 2: But late afternoon, early evening, it looks like it's going
- 6:55Speaker 2: to dissipate.
- 6:56Speaker 3: Of course it could change, but we're just telling you early.
- 6:58Speaker 2: So if you're tailgating, be ready and just be ready
- 7:01Speaker 2: for that. And there's nothing worse than having to be
- 7:03Speaker 2: in rain and tailgating.
- 7:05Speaker 3: I've done it. It's terrible.
- 7:07Speaker 1: It's awful. And if it's kind of hot and swampy,
- 7:09Speaker 1: we advise everybody to bring their pickle juice. Games might
- 7:13Speaker 1: have been famously won or lost because of pickle juice.
- 7:15Speaker 1: So it's always a good, I hate pickles. So I'll
- 7:18Speaker 1: never drink pickle juice. No matter what you could tie
- 7:21Speaker 1: me down and you'd have to tie, you'd have to
- 7:23Speaker 1: tie me down and open it up.
- 7:25Speaker 3: Make me drink pickle juice.
- 7:26Speaker 1: All right. Stowers with the hamstring, he was a limited participant. Look,
- 7:31Speaker 1: we've addressed this quite a bit. He's behind. He wasn't
- 7:35Speaker 1: even running with the first team, barely on the second team.
- 7:37Speaker 1: I mean, the idea that he could be inactive for
- 7:42Speaker 1: this game, even if healthy, to me was there. So
- 7:46Speaker 1: right now, dealing with the hamstring injury and being limited,
- 7:49Speaker 1: you're just getting closer to the reality that he's probably
- 7:52Speaker 1: not going to be able to play or be active.
- 7:55Speaker 3: I'd be surprised if he's active. I really would. Cause
- 7:56Speaker 3: I don't see a role for him. Jenkins is a
- 7:58Speaker 3: way better blocker.
- 8:00Speaker 2: We know, we know Goddard's to a tight end and
- 8:03Speaker 2: we know Johnny months here as a Y he's only
- 8:05Speaker 2: here to block.
- 8:06Speaker 3: Right.
- 8:07Speaker 2: If he gets, there should be an over under on
- 8:09Speaker 2: past target for Johnny month this season, 10 or less.
- 8:11Speaker 3: I'm taking under, under 10. We're putting it. Yes.
- 8:17Speaker 1: Oh man. Oh gosh.
- 8:19Speaker 3: So yeah. Yeah.
- 8:21Speaker 1: You're basically playing four, four out instead of five, whenever
- 8:25Speaker 1: you have him on the field, if that's the case,
- 8:26Speaker 1: my God, I'd have.
- 8:28Speaker 3: To, I wonder if he could even run. I don't remember.
- 8:30Speaker 2: Cause I know he's, all he's done is block his
- 8:32Speaker 2: entire career. It's like, what's the tight end, the wide
- 8:35Speaker 2: tight end for, it's been only a long time. Sean
- 8:38Speaker 2: Payton found him. He's now with Carolina. I mean, what's,
- 8:41Speaker 2: what's the, with the giants. Chris, he went to man hurts.
- 8:46Speaker 3: Yeah. Chris man hurts, which is so comical.
- 8:48Speaker 2: Can each is, I didn't even know they had a
- 8:50Speaker 2: football team because I just grew up knowing them as
- 8:52Speaker 2: a basketball team.
- 8:53Speaker 3: Sure.
- 8:53Speaker 1: And the MAAC.
- 8:54Speaker 3: Yep.
- 8:55Speaker 2: Right.
- 8:56Speaker 3: M-A-A-C. Right. Right. So that's it. Yeah. I mean, that's it.
- 9:00Speaker 2: Now, Washington has got some concerns.
- 9:03Speaker 1: They do.
- 9:04Speaker 3: They do.
- 9:05Speaker 1: And again, because it's, you know, it's the Wednesday report.
- 9:08Speaker 1: You try not to put too much into it because
- 9:10Speaker 1: how many times have we seen, you know, we've been
- 9:12Speaker 1: scared by what we see, the pop-up injuries. And then
- 9:14Speaker 1: by Friday, we're fine.
- 9:15Speaker 3: Yes.
- 9:16Speaker 2: The Eagles didn't have any. That is funny because that
- 9:18Speaker 2: was on my list. No pop-up injuries was the exclamation point.
- 9:21Speaker 3: Right. They didn't have any.
- 9:22Speaker 2: But Washington, here you go. So offensively, Ja'Cory, Krosky, Merritt,
- 9:27Speaker 2: or Bill, as he's known, he is their starting running back.
- 9:29Speaker 2: We'll talk more about this on a pregame show with
- 9:32Speaker 2: Greg Cosell. But Krosky, Merritt is their primary first and
- 9:35Speaker 2: second down back. You're not going to see him much
- 9:38Speaker 2: on third down. That's why Rashad White's there or a
- 9:39Speaker 2: goal line. But we'll see what he does the next
- 9:43Speaker 2: couple of days. Now, the big one, this is big.
- 9:45Speaker 2: Nick Allegretti, who's moving from guard to center, he's going
- 9:47Speaker 2: to be their center this season.
- 9:50Speaker 3: We'll see how he does. He missed all of.
- 9:51Speaker 2: Training camp in the preseason with a calf strain. Give
- 9:55Speaker 2: Dan Quinn credit. I mean, he said he's going to
- 9:57Speaker 2: be ready this week. Very confident.
- 9:58Speaker 3: He took all the reps once.
- 10:00Speaker 2: As I understand it. So, barring a setback, he'll be
- 10:03Speaker 2: in the lineup. But guess what? He's not a great athlete.
- 10:07Speaker 2: He's an okay starting guard. Nothing special. Good luck against
- 10:10Speaker 2: this line when you come back from a calf injury.
- 10:13Speaker 3: That is rough.
- 10:14Speaker 1: Fall is the season where everyone gets busier, more calls,
- 10:17Speaker 1: more customers, more chances for something to slip through the cracks,
- 10:21Speaker 1: and staying ahead means having the right system, not just

- 12:46Speaker 3: Oh, for sure.
- 12:47Speaker 1: For sure. And then obviously their pass rushers, the two
- 12:50Speaker 1: guys that they signed in free agency that they're expecting
- 12:53Speaker 1: to help turn around their defense, which is, I always
- 12:56Speaker 1: pronounce the last name right. It's Kalavon Chiesan, right? Did
- 12:59Speaker 1: I pronounce that correctly?
- 13:00Speaker 3: Kalavon Chiesan.
- 13:01Speaker 2: Yes.
- 13:01Speaker 1: Chiesan and Adafi Owe were limited on Wednesday. So we'll
- 13:06Speaker 1: have to make sure, see what goes on with them.
- 13:09Speaker 1: It was a calf for Owe. It was a knee
- 13:11Speaker 1: for Chiesan. So we'll see. what follows there.
- 13:17Speaker 2: The key for both of these guys, because they're both starters,
- 13:24Speaker 2: depending on what formation that their new DC opens up with,
- 13:29Speaker 2: Durante Jones, because they have, funny, they went from having
- 13:32Speaker 2: a terrible pass rush group last year due to injury,
- 13:34Speaker 2: and they were bringing anyone they could find off the street,
- 13:37Speaker 2: literally anyone.
- 13:38Speaker 3: BG could have gone there and probably had five sacks. Really?
- 13:41Speaker 1: Hey, don't try. He could go anywhere and have five sacks.
- 13:43Speaker 1: You and I could have gone there and maybe had
- 13:45Speaker 1: five sacks.
- 13:46Speaker 3: I mean, they had nobody. I mean, it was bad,
- 13:48Speaker 3: but they've got a lot of them.
- 13:49Speaker 1: Right.
- 13:50Speaker 2: You're chasing with an A and Daffy O with a calf.
- 13:53Speaker 2: Friday's a big thing. They're going to have a tremendous,
- 13:56Speaker 2: tremendous rotation. Leo Chennault is such a good player, inside
- 14:01Speaker 2: or outside. You can play him at edge or inside backer.
- 14:05Speaker 2: I'll tell you he's a good player, but he's not
- 14:06Speaker 2: going to start as Jordan McGee out of Temple. If
- 14:10Speaker 2: not for Sonny Stiles, he would be starting.
- 14:12Speaker 3: Sure.
- 14:13Speaker 2: So he'll be ready. He's got a chest injury. Mariota
- 14:16Speaker 2: had the knee injury. He was out a bit. He's
- 14:18Speaker 2: going to be ready to be their number two quarterback.
- 14:21Speaker 2: And then Charles Amenehu, the well-traveled Charles Amenehu, formerly of
- 14:24Speaker 2: the Niners and the Chiefs, he's going to be one
- 14:27Speaker 2: of their top backup edges. He'll be ready to go
- 14:29Speaker 2: with a wrist injury. So the big one to watch
- 14:31Speaker 2: is Nick Allegretti and then see how the edges do
- 14:34Speaker 2: on defense.
- 14:35Speaker 3: That's right.
- 14:36Speaker 1: And the commanders need better injury information because it's been
- 14:40Speaker 1: rough for them. Losing Tunsell and obviously not having Trey Amos, right?
- 14:44Speaker 3: He's out for a while, yeah.
- 14:47Speaker 2: Amos is their best corner. Russell Doug is probably going
- 14:49Speaker 2: to start. We'll talk more about this when we do
- 14:50Speaker 2: the matchups in the pregame show. And then left tackle,
- 14:55Speaker 2: there's a reason why they traded for Laramie Tunsell because
- 14:57Speaker 2: Brandon Coleman, they knew, is too short. At 6'4, he's
- 15:00Speaker 2: built more of a– he's really not what we call powerful.
- 15:03Speaker 2: He's more athletic than powerful. So they've tried him at guard,
- 15:06Speaker 2: and they've tried him at right tackle and left tackle,
- 15:08Speaker 2: and that's why they brought– DJ Humphrey's out of mothballs,
- 15:11Speaker 2: so to speak, who's near the end of his career.
- 15:13Speaker 3: He's well past his prime. Oh, yeah.
- 15:15Speaker 1: Hey, Philly fans, game day is stressful enough. Parking, traffic,
- 15:19Speaker 1: long lines. We've all been there. But when it comes
- 15:22Speaker 1: to your cannabis... Camden Apothecary makes it easy. This is
- 15:27Speaker 1: the dispensary for sports fans. Just minutes outside of Philly

- 15:42Speaker 1: makes sure you feel taken care of every time you

- 15:49Speaker 1: at the fairest price. prices. So whether you're stocking up
- 15:52Speaker 1: for the tailgate, the watch party, or celebrating a big win,

- 16:00Speaker 1: even show love to the community with specials for fans, students,

- 16:10Speaker 1: great prices, and an experience made for Philly fans 21
- 16:13Speaker 1: and up.
- 16:15Speaker 2: I'll tell you what, man. If Washington's offensive line shockingly
- 16:20Speaker 2: holds up. I don't see any way in hell it happens.
- 16:23Speaker 2: This game will be really close. If not, you blow
- 16:26Speaker 2: out city.
- 16:27Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 16:28Speaker 2: Although the Eagles, we have to see it's the first
- 16:29Speaker 2: week and they don't, they haven't seen this defense yet.
- 16:32Speaker 1: Right.
- 16:33Speaker 2: But I could see it being 20 to three or
- 16:34Speaker 2: 17 to three. I just don't see how Washington's going
- 16:37Speaker 2: to score.
- 16:37Speaker 1: So our mutual friend and radio partner, Mike Gill informed
- 16:41Speaker 1: me that you said something, um, to the effect that
- 16:46Speaker 1: I'm usually the guy who's Mr. Over and you're usually Mr. Under,
- 16:49Speaker 1: which is correct. Which is correct. But I have a
- 16:51Speaker 1: feeling you and I were thinking along the same wavelength
- 16:53Speaker 1: because I think the total for this game is around 44.
- 16:56Speaker 1: And I'm like, I think this is going to kind
- 16:58Speaker 1: of be one of those weird slug fest. I think the,
- 17:01Speaker 1: you know, we'll talk about it on Friday. It'll be you, myself,
- 17:05Speaker 1: Greg Cosell. Well, it'll come out. It'll be out on
- 17:08Speaker 1: Saturday morning, right?
- 17:09Speaker 3: Yep.
- 17:09Speaker 1: The Inside the Birds pregame show, which will be back
- 17:11Speaker 1: for another year. Probably the, No, not probably. Definitely the
- 17:15Speaker 1: best and most analytical game preview breakdown that you're going
- 17:19Speaker 1: to get in this area because it is just incredible stuff.
- 17:24Speaker 1: I mean, between what we can bring just from our
- 17:26Speaker 1: knowledge of the team and what Greg does from the
- 17:28Speaker 1: tape breakdown and the schemes is it's just fun. We
- 17:31Speaker 1: talk ball. If you're new to our show, you're not
- 17:34Speaker 1: going to hear some just real true junkie ball talk
- 17:37Speaker 1: the way we do when we do these.
- 17:38Speaker 2: There's no bullshit. Yeah, it's all inside stuff. The three
- 17:44Speaker 2: of us have a lot of fun. And then we
- 17:45Speaker 2: beg Greg. No, actually, we tell him or we fire him.
- 17:47Speaker 3: He better give us a game score. We have a
- 17:51Speaker 3: running joke. What's he say? He spends.
- 17:53Speaker 2: It's like Sal Powell says on Greg's show. His one
- 17:56Speaker 2: minute of tape study each week.
- 17:58Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 17:59Speaker 2: Greg goes, my 10 seconds to think about what the
- 18:02Speaker 2: score might be.
- 18:03Speaker 3: Here's what I have. Did I win it last year?
- 18:05Speaker 3: I thought I had a pretty good. I forgot. I forget.
- 18:09Speaker 1: I really.
- 18:10Speaker 3: Anyway.
- 18:11Speaker 1: Yeah, but the point I would be making is you'll
- 18:14Speaker 1: watch some awful shit. I don't think we have dedicated
- 18:17Speaker 1: a nanosecond to the GQ story on Jalen Hurts.
- 18:20Speaker 3: Not that it's not.
- 18:21Speaker 1: Interesting, but it's just not what we do. Yeah, it
- 18:23Speaker 1: was interesting, but it's not really what we do. It's
- 18:26Speaker 1: not relevant to our discussion.
- 18:27Speaker 3: It's a talk show. That's for the radio to talk about.
- 18:31Speaker 3: But I did like the... The guy who wrote it,
- 18:35Speaker 3: he might be from here. I forget what the guy's
- 18:36Speaker 3: name is.
- 18:37Speaker 1: Yeah, he's from Philly.
- 18:38Speaker 2: Yeah, I happened to hear it on The Fanatic for
- 18:40Speaker 2: like 20 minutes. I was like, this is really interesting.
- 18:42Speaker 2: And I know our Patreon people told me last week, oh,
- 18:45Speaker 2: you got to see this. This is great stuff.
- 18:47Speaker 3: And Jalen went and admitted to some stuff.
- 18:48Speaker 2: Like he admitted about Connective stuff, which we've talked about
- 18:52Speaker 2: for a couple of years.
- 18:52Speaker 3: But anyway, moving on.
- 18:54Speaker 2: This is week one. It's opening week. Strange things happen.
- 18:58Speaker 2: I'm looking forward to this game. I was hoping it
- 19:00Speaker 2: would be a better game, but you never know. Maybe
- 19:02Speaker 2: it turns out to be a great game. I just– Washington,
- 19:04Speaker 2: they would have had Tunsell. They would have had Tunsell
- 19:08Speaker 2: and did a little bit– as aggressive as they were
- 19:11Speaker 2: in free agency, they were super aggressive trying.
- 19:12Speaker 3: To help the quarterback.
- 19:15Speaker 2: And they needed to rehab their defense because they needed talent, basically.
- 19:20Speaker 2: They need some help at receiver. And Stefan Diggs, to me,
- 19:22Speaker 2: is not it. I mean, he's at best a three.
- 19:25Speaker 2: He might be starting. We'll see what we'll talk about that.
- 19:28Speaker 1: Yeah, he's going to have to, right? They don't really
- 19:30Speaker 1: have anybody better. He's got to be their number two.
- 19:32Speaker 1: I mean, he was the number two last year for
- 19:33Speaker 1: a Super Bowl team, but it is a year later.
- 19:36Speaker 2: As I'm told by an NFL coach who did tape
- 19:41Speaker 2: work on him once he got released, he said he
- 19:44Speaker 2: doesn't run all that well anymore.
- 19:45Speaker 3: But he goes, you know what? He's a perfect possession
- 19:47Speaker 3: receiver for a young quarterback.
- 19:49Speaker 2: And voila.
- 19:50Speaker 3: And I happened to be at his first practice.
- 19:52Speaker 1: What'd you think?
- 19:54Speaker 2: He looked really good in a short area. Speaking of that,
- 19:56Speaker 2: it's ironic.
- 19:58Speaker 3: I see it.
- 19:59Speaker 2: It looked pretty good, but I mean, it's unreal that
- 20:02Speaker 2: it's been nine years since that championship game.
- 20:07Speaker 3: And he was on that team, Vikings. Him and Thielen. Oh, yeah.
- 20:09Speaker 1: I forgot about that.
- 20:10Speaker 3: That's crazy.
- 20:11Speaker 1: When we got in the Super Bowl last year.
- 20:14Speaker 3: Amazing.
- 20:14Speaker 1: All right. Yeah, I'm just always loathe to, like, write
- 20:18Speaker 1: this game off, even though the Eagles are, I believe,
- 20:21Speaker 1: five and a half point favorites. And it feels like
- 20:23Speaker 1: it should be, like, a pretty decent win for them.
- 20:25Speaker 1: But you know how I always say this game between
- 20:27Speaker 1: these two teams gets very weird sometimes. So, you know,
- 20:31Speaker 1: we'll get the real soup to nuts breakdown on the
- 20:35Speaker 1: Inside the Birds free game show.
- 20:36Speaker 3: Myself.
- 20:37Speaker 1: Adam, and of course, Greg Cosell. Also, Saturday, we'll have
- 20:41Speaker 1: a really awesome, and I want to thank everybody for
- 20:43Speaker 1: all the great feedback they gave us on the last
- 20:46Speaker 1: Inside the Data, last two with Sam Finkel. He's been
- 20:48Speaker 1: really unearthing some really good analytical gems to do podcasts on.
- 20:54Speaker 1: He did a great one that's going to be up.
- 20:55Speaker 1: We'll probably have it up Saturday.
- 20:57Speaker 3: Maybe one more for you. Okay, one more for you.
- 21:00Speaker 3: Just booked, literally, I didn't tell you this yet. Oh, yes,
- 21:02Speaker 3: that's right.
- 21:03Speaker 1: Go ahead.
- 21:03Speaker 3: Vince Papali, Mr. Invincible, a good friend of ours.
- 21:07Speaker 2: Actually, we had him in the early infancy of our company.
- 21:11Speaker 2: We brought him in for a speak at one of
- 21:14Speaker 2: the Chickies in Northeast Philly, maybe?
- 21:15Speaker 3: Was it that one?
- 21:17Speaker 1: It was the Chickies in Northeast Philly. That was the one, yeah.
- 21:20Speaker 3: Many years ago. On Roosevelt Boulevard.
- 21:22Speaker 2: 20th anniversary of the movie, which I was made aware of.
- 21:26Speaker 2: We were going to have him on. We were going
- 21:28Speaker 2: to do an interview with him.
- 21:28Speaker 3: Probably going to tape it Friday, so we'll run it
- 21:30Speaker 3: next week.
- 21:32Speaker 2: His story, folks... It's just, it's remarkable coming out of
- 21:36Speaker 2: the stands. Though he did play in the World Football League.
- 21:39Speaker 2: But then it folded and he was in the stands
- 21:42Speaker 2: watching his favorite team growing up.
- 21:44Speaker 3: Then he played for them. Hard to believe, but true.
- 21:47Speaker 1: Well, just a little small sample of all the great
- 21:50Speaker 1: things we have coming up on Inside the Birds in
- 21:53Speaker 1: the coming days and weeks. That's going to do it.
- 21:55Speaker 1: And of course, you know, we will definitely have the
- 21:57Speaker 1: final injury report covered. in our Inside the Birds pregame
- 22:01Speaker 1: show and what those injuries mean for the matchup. That
- 22:04Speaker 1: will do it for this edition of Inside the Birds,
- 22:06Speaker 1: the leading podcast in Eagles Intel. As always, we thank
- 22:10Speaker 1: you for flying with us Inside the Birds. Be sure
