- 0:10Speaker 1: Mike Gola Junior has returned from a long vacation, a
- 0:14Speaker 1: trip to Italy. How was your trip, buddy?
- 0:17Speaker 2: It was awesome everything that I believed, A trip where
- 0:20Speaker 2: I would do nothing but eat every carb offered to me,
- 0:25Speaker 2: try every dessert within reach, and drink impossible amounts of wine,
- 0:30Speaker 2: all somehow without getting hungover, ever feeling full. Shout out
- 0:33Speaker 2: to however, Italy and the Europeans go about producing their
- 0:37Speaker 2: food and beverages, because, man, I tell you, I felt
- 0:40Speaker 2: great the entire time.
- 0:41Speaker 1: Yes, mikey A. It's a long way to go and
- 0:43Speaker 1: a lot of money to spend to avoid Nicks coverage.
- 0:46Speaker 2: I mean, I mean, I get it. I want to
- 0:52Speaker 2: be clear. You could not avoid Knicks coverage even over there,
- 0:56Speaker 2: So really it is the Knicks aer worldwide. Dolly.
- 0:59Speaker 1: Yes, what'd you make of that? Taylor? It changes life?
- 1:02Speaker 1: Taylor hung out by Madison Square Garden. He's in New
- 1:05Speaker 1: York now, he's going to the parade on Thursday. You
- 1:08Speaker 1: know me, I've been waiting for this for my entire life?
- 1:12Speaker 1: What'd you make of the Knicks finally getting it done here?
- 1:14Speaker 2: I was really glad I got to get back over
- 1:17Speaker 2: to the States to watch the end because the games
- 1:19Speaker 2: were on at three in the morning over there with
- 1:20Speaker 2: the time difference, so I would wake up and find
- 1:23Speaker 2: out what happened for the first couple of games of
- 1:25Speaker 2: the NBA Finals. And I said this to I think
- 1:28Speaker 2: it was just the other day when we were talking
- 1:30Speaker 2: on our pod. Where is it that something in sports
- 1:35Speaker 2: actually lives up to what I hoped it would be.
- 1:37Speaker 2: Like we all talked about in sports media, Oh what
- 1:40Speaker 2: a coup this would be if the Knicks could actually
- 1:43Speaker 2: make a deep postseason run and get to the finals.
- 1:45Speaker 2: We all kind of stopped short of like, oh, what
- 1:47Speaker 2: if they actually won? But even the Knicks getting to
- 1:49Speaker 2: the NBA Finals, what that would mean for a town
- 1:51Speaker 2: in New York that's had success and plenty of other sports.
- 1:54Speaker 2: But everyone, you, every Knicks fan in my life has
- 1:56Speaker 2: always made it clear, Yeah, it doesn't really matter what
- 1:59Speaker 2: the rest of them do. This is a basketball town
- 2:01Speaker 2: and they want so desperately for the Knicks to be
- 2:03Speaker 2: the thing. And the ride up and through this championship,
- 2:07Speaker 2: you know, I haven't yet seen the parade has all
- 2:09Speaker 2: lived up to exactly what I thought it would look, feel, sound,
- 2:13Speaker 2: smell like for this kind of cathartic moment for New
- 2:17Speaker 2: York's basketball team to have, so no, I thought it
- 2:20Speaker 2: was awesome. It's a very likable team, you know, with
- 2:24Speaker 2: the Villanova Nicks and having Jalen Brunton be kind of
- 2:27Speaker 2: the face of all this. There's a lot of easy
- 2:29Speaker 2: stuff to like, and then you get all the shots
- 2:32Speaker 2: of New York descending into chaos that were exactly what
- 2:34Speaker 2: we were looking for.
- 2:35Speaker 1: So this is the interesting part to me, Did you
- 2:38Speaker 1: find yourself rooting for this next team?
- 2:41Speaker 2: I still don't think I ever quite got to that point.
- 2:45Speaker 2: Like I didn't overcorrect on the Victor Webbin Yama hate
- 2:50Speaker 2: as much as it seemed like a lot of people
- 2:51Speaker 2: did nationally. I still, selfishly, as someone that works in
- 2:55Speaker 2: this job, just root for series to go longer and
- 2:57Speaker 2: be entertaining. And that's the thing. This series, despite being
- 3:00Speaker 2: over in five games, wildly entertaining every game super close,
- 3:04Speaker 2: obviously all the blown double digit leads for the Spurs.
- 3:06Speaker 2: So I don't know if I ever quite got to
- 3:09Speaker 2: where I was like actively rooting for the Knicks. I
- 3:11Speaker 2: had plenty of friends I would watch with. I still
- 3:13Speaker 2: wanted the series to go longer because it had been
- 3:15Speaker 2: so compelling. But I did find myself very happy for
- 3:19Speaker 2: the Knicks, very happy for the Knicks fans in my life,
- 3:21Speaker 2: if that makes sense, Gojo.
- 3:23Speaker 3: There is some juxtaposition there with how likable this Knicks
- 3:26Speaker 3: team is and how generally unlikable New York is as
- 3:31Speaker 3: fan bases. But do you think people that don't like
- 3:34Speaker 3: the Knicks can take some solace knowing that if the
- 3:38Speaker 3: Knicks can win, why can't anybody else?
- 3:41Speaker 1: Yeah, well, it's like Indiana in football. Yeah.
- 3:44Speaker 2: Well, I honestly like that. That was selfishly. I make
- 3:47Speaker 2: everything about me, make everything about Notre Dame like that was.
- 3:50Speaker 2: That was the effect that Michigan winning a few years
- 3:52Speaker 2: ago had on me as a college football fan, where
- 3:55Speaker 2: I said, oh, if they can win it like that,
- 3:58Speaker 2: this is a lot more accessible than it used to be,
- 4:00Speaker 2: and maybe we can do the same being you know,
- 4:02Speaker 2: the team that's my alma mater, and so I think
- 4:05Speaker 2: there could be some of that. Like I also think
- 4:08Speaker 2: that just kind of fits into the larger pattern with
- 4:10Speaker 2: the NBA as of late, where you've got eight different
- 4:12Speaker 2: years with a different champion right now like Adam Silver,
- 4:15Speaker 2: and the NBA have been chasing the NFL level of
- 4:18Speaker 2: parody brother, you know, you chase down that mailman like
- 4:21Speaker 2: you're the dog chasing after it and you didn't know
- 4:23Speaker 2: what to do till you found it. You're there now.
- 4:25Speaker 2: So yeah, every year now feels like we have to
- 4:28Speaker 2: kind of reevaluate who can do this in an era
- 4:31Speaker 2: of the NBA that is, you know, more or less
- 4:34Speaker 2: hard capped now with the second apron and changes the
- 4:37Speaker 2: way a lot of this goes. But you know, the
- 4:39Speaker 2: Knicks doing it around a small garden a way that
- 4:41Speaker 2: very few people thought was possible, and you know, working
- 4:44Speaker 2: on the power of friendship and all these different things
- 4:47Speaker 2: that went into this championship, they can do that. It's
- 4:49Speaker 2: still hard. Like ultimately, it's kind of like football. The
- 4:53Speaker 2: easiest path your hopes and dreams is still finding a
- 4:56Speaker 2: generational quarterback because that can change so much. And the
- 4:59Speaker 2: easy path to victory if the NBA is still having
- 5:02Speaker 2: the best player in the world play for your team,
- 5:05Speaker 2: because one guy on a court where there's five players
- 5:07Speaker 2: on each side can affect so much. But the Knicks
- 5:10Speaker 2: found a way to find a team that constantly was
- 5:12Speaker 2: able to offset somebody's off night. Jalen Brunson having a
- 5:16Speaker 2: down first four games and always find answers.
- 5:19Speaker 1: Gojo, You'll love this because you and I always laugh
- 5:21Speaker 1: at the media coverage the media game. So I'm watching
- 5:25Speaker 1: Get Up this morning. So the Knicks won the title.
- 5:28Speaker 1: You know, they spent the entire day yesterday talking Knicks
- 5:31Speaker 1: and for the last month really on Get Up. It's
- 5:33Speaker 1: been wall to wall coverage at NBA playoffs, New York
- 5:36Speaker 1: Knicks the pursuit of a championship, and we.
- 5:39Speaker 2: Celebrated for a day.
- 5:40Speaker 1: And then today I turn on Get Up and they're
- 5:43Speaker 1: ranking the top ten guys left in NFL free agency,
- 5:47Speaker 1: like some guys you can still pick up. And they're
- 5:49Speaker 1: also doing draft rankings, which is like soresby talking about
- 5:52Speaker 1: swords by talking about next year's college football season. I'm like,
- 5:56Speaker 1: we enjoyed the Knicks for a single day, and we're
- 5:59Speaker 1: on to the NFL in college football.
- 6:01Speaker 2: That really surprised me because I get in general it
- 6:04Speaker 2: is hard to build up enough inertia to break through
- 6:08Speaker 2: the wall of football that generally tends to dominate national
- 6:10Speaker 2: sports talk coverage. I thought the Knicks winning, of all things,
- 6:15Speaker 2: would be that thing, just because I mean, they had
- 6:20Speaker 2: everything like you had again, a team with a likable
- 6:23Speaker 2: superstar in Jalen Brunson, a roster bonded by all these
- 6:26Speaker 2: Villanova guys, which generally just pointed this out, makes it
- 6:29Speaker 2: the Pope's team considering he's a Villanova grad. So at
- 6:32Speaker 2: that angle, you have the most robust and active celebrity
- 6:36Speaker 2: row in the sport that became another character in this
- 6:39Speaker 2: entire thing. And there's probably still people flooding the streets
- 6:42Speaker 2: of New York City. I figure, we just set up
- 6:44Speaker 2: a live cam in Manhattan or in all the burroughs
- 6:47Speaker 2: and just keep going to that the way they did
- 6:49Speaker 2: after the championship and call that a day for our
- 6:52Speaker 2: coverage in the week.
- 6:53Speaker 1: Right, Yeah, but you know this, So they get into
- 6:55Speaker 1: their morning meeting and someone says, sorees me going to
- 6:57Speaker 1: the supplemental draft? What do we lead with today?
- 7:00Speaker 2: Like swords? I mean, to be fair, what a strange
- 7:06Speaker 2: arc this has all been. And I was having the
- 7:10Speaker 2: discussion with friends the other day about that, like why
- 7:13Speaker 2: college football in the offseason can tend to gravitate towards
- 7:17Speaker 2: so much of these legal matters, like the sport just
- 7:20Speaker 2: isn't spread out with its actual nuts and bolts activities,
- 7:24Speaker 2: like you know, the transfer portal, which is college football's
- 7:27Speaker 2: free agency, the signing period, which is college football's draft,
- 7:30Speaker 2: Like all those taking place in that same window as
- 7:33Speaker 2: the championship period kind of robs you of the EBB
- 7:36Speaker 2: and flow. The NFL has to their offseason where all
- 7:38Speaker 2: these things are spread out, and so what we're left with,
- 7:41Speaker 2: especially now in the sport is just a bunch of
- 7:43Speaker 2: weird court cases that pop up to try and determine
- 7:45Speaker 2: the sports future. And this Soresby thing, it was the
- 7:50Speaker 2: combination of so many of the different issues facing college football.
- 7:54Speaker 2: I kind of get why that one checks all the boxes.
- 7:58Speaker 2: If you're a national sports talk show, that's hard to ignore.
- 8:01Speaker 2: Yes it is.
- 8:02Speaker 1: You know, if an NFL GM likes Soorsby, he's gonna
- 8:05Speaker 1: put the gambling stuff aside and take Sorsby. He's that talented, right.
- 8:10Speaker 2: He's incredibly talented. There are still areas where I think
- 8:13Speaker 2: he can improve overall. Like I've seen a lot of
- 8:16Speaker 2: people banter about like a supplemental draft round, but like
- 8:19Speaker 2: round four or five, because again for anyone unfamiliar like
- 8:22Speaker 2: you have to then give up that pick in that
- 8:26Speaker 2: round of the upcoming twenty twenty seven drafts. So you're
- 8:28Speaker 2: weighing that opportunity. And I think I saw Daniel Jeremiah
- 8:31Speaker 2: was on McAfee and pointed out that if you are
- 8:34Speaker 2: an NFL GM that likes him, you're less concerned about
- 8:37Speaker 2: could there be a looming suspension because to his point,
- 8:40Speaker 2: this guy's arriving for fall training camp as a rookie.
- 8:43Speaker 2: He's not going to impact your twenty twenty seven season.
- 8:46Speaker 2: It's just not possible. Like the running joke when when
- 8:49Speaker 2: I got to training camp at the Steelers is a rookie.
- 8:51Speaker 2: The first thing they told you is you're behind. Right.
- 8:54Speaker 2: They've been there for weeks already doing the offseason program,
- 8:57Speaker 2: and these are veterans who have been around, who have
- 8:59Speaker 2: been through the playbook. A time like this is review
- 9:01Speaker 2: time for them and getting acclimated some of the new
- 9:04Speaker 2: guys on the team, maybe new coaches, but for the
- 9:06Speaker 2: most part they're adding to, not building the foundation the
- 9:10Speaker 2: way you are as a rookie. And I thought that
- 9:11Speaker 2: was a great point by DJ. It's like you risk
- 9:14Speaker 2: very little this season bringing him in, because again, he's
- 9:18Speaker 2: a talented player, but he was I think even in
- 9:20Speaker 2: the best case scenario, maybe not going to come in
- 9:23Speaker 2: and be your day one starter, and that's definitely not
- 9:25Speaker 2: gonna happen now if he's just showing up at fall
- 9:28Speaker 2: training camp and that's his first introduction to your organization.
- 9:32Speaker 2: So this is kind of a gap year for him anyway,
- 9:34Speaker 2: and that could work in the favor of an NFL franchise.
- 9:37Speaker 2: That's waying, all right? Do I want to give up
- 9:39Speaker 2: a draft pick next year, knowing I probably wouldn't have
- 9:42Speaker 2: this guy? So shout out to Daniel Jeremiah, who, as
- 9:44Speaker 2: usual very smart.
- 9:45Speaker 1: Mikey, I know you well enough to know you want
- 9:48Speaker 1: the Jets to take him, don't you. You do just
- 9:50Speaker 1: take a flyer?
- 9:51Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, why not if it's gonna cost me
- 9:54Speaker 4: a fourth round or a fifth round pick to bring
- 9:56Speaker 4: in a quarterback who.
- 9:57Speaker 2: Is that talented?
- 9:59Speaker 4: And then, baby, you can find a little diamond in
- 10:02Speaker 4: the rough.
- 10:03Speaker 2: I mean, when you're when you're crazy.
- 10:05Speaker 4: Games, I mean, Jesus, I mean honestly, I mean, when
- 10:08Speaker 4: you're when you're when you're that far behind as a franchise,
- 10:11Speaker 4: you just keep throwing things at the wall until you
- 10:13Speaker 4: get it right.
- 10:15Speaker 2: The Jets situation is kind of interesting though, because a
- 10:17Speaker 2: lot of people assume you guys are going to be
- 10:19Speaker 2: in the running for the number one pick next year
- 10:21Speaker 2: in a much more quarterback rich draft. It could kind
- 10:24Speaker 2: of be insurance for that. Yeah, you know that's what Mike.
- 10:27Speaker 1: He's saying, take Soresby and then take a quarterback next
- 10:29Speaker 1: year as well.
- 10:29Speaker 2: Yes, well, because I mean realistically, and this is gonna
- 10:32Speaker 2: be the weird part. Like you know, we always have
- 10:34Speaker 2: to do the sports media caveat. We hate talking about
- 10:36Speaker 2: someone's job, but man, if things go as bad as
- 10:38Speaker 2: people predicted could, Aaron Glenn's probably not the coach of
- 10:41Speaker 2: the Jets come next year, and you're talking about some
- 10:43Speaker 2: pretty substantial changes there that would also make the Soresby
- 10:47Speaker 2: acquisition kind of interesting in this but at the very least,
- 10:51Speaker 2: if this year's quarterback class in college does what last
- 10:54Speaker 2: year's quarterback class did, which was come in like lions
- 10:58Speaker 2: and go out like lambs, and this could all of
- 11:00Speaker 2: a sudden give you someone waiting in the wings that
- 11:03Speaker 2: is talented that you got for a relative bargain, et cetera,
- 11:06Speaker 2: et cetera.
- 11:08Speaker 1: It's so interesting, Mikey, I'm with you. I take Sorsby
- 11:10Speaker 1: as well I would, and I just keep til they
- 11:13Speaker 1: get it right.
- 11:14Speaker 2: Yes, you just need one to work. Well, it's like
- 11:18Speaker 2: you said, ste Gott's, this is also someone easier to sell,
- 11:21Speaker 2: like you're not going and picking a guy like some
- 11:23Speaker 2: of the quarterback evals lately have been complicated by guys
- 11:26Speaker 2: that are smaller. Trinidad Shambles is fascinating because sidewise he
- 11:28Speaker 2: has making this dude's like six four two thirty five,
- 11:31Speaker 2: like he is built like you want. Yes, you can.
- 11:35Speaker 1: You can sell any sort of hope, even hope that
- 11:37Speaker 1: comes with gambling attached to it.
- 11:38Speaker 2: To the Jet fan base.
- 11:39Speaker 1: You can't sell to green Bay, But to the Jet
- 11:41Speaker 1: fan base you can absolutely sell that in and.
- 11:43Speaker 2: They will applaud you. I mean no doubt. Call it
- 11:47Speaker 2: what it is.
- 11:48Speaker 5: Desperate times. Yeah, we perhaps might be the desperate team
- 11:54Speaker 5: that will take this quarterback. I'm very excited about this,
- 11:57Speaker 5: mike Ya. I started today saying I don't want Sorsby.
- 12:00Speaker 5: I'm thinking I want him over anyone.
- 12:02Speaker 6: I mean, seriously, tell me you can't see green Bay
- 12:04Speaker 6: taking him?
- 12:05Speaker 4: And then we just signed Jordan Love in four years
- 12:08Speaker 4: to a massive contract.
- 12:09Speaker 2: As the Jets either way quarterback room gets solved.
- 12:12Speaker 1: No, I could tell you I could see how I
- 12:13Speaker 1: was taking sores By and him getting good in Green
- 12:15Speaker 1: Bay five years after the fact, and we don't have
- 12:19Speaker 1: Jordan Love.
- 12:22Speaker 2: Because why would he choose to go here? I mean
- 12:24Speaker 2: to the Jets.
- 12:25Speaker 1: Steve Gott's here. The biggest stage in world soccer is here,
- 12:28Speaker 1: and every goal changes everything. And now FanDuel's giving you
- 12:32Speaker 1: a reason the roof for every single one introducing every
- 12:35Speaker 1: goal pays bet on a match and get bonus bets
- 12:38Speaker 1: for every goal scored in that match. That's right, more
- 12:41Speaker 1: goals means more bonus bets. And all you have to
- 12:44Speaker 1: do is turn on your token from the opening whistle
- 12:47Speaker 1: to the final kick. Let there be goals on FanDuel.

- 13:50Speaker 1: Might get into the World Cup at all?
- 13:52Speaker 2: Yeah, I so I was talking to you guys. I
- 13:55Speaker 2: think before we started recording, you know, the World Cup
- 13:58Speaker 2: was getting ready to get started when I I was
- 14:00Speaker 2: coming back from Italy and just in the lead up,
- 14:02Speaker 2: like it had felt like maybe it was you know,
- 14:05Speaker 2: the NBA playoffs and our focus on that. Like you said,
- 14:07Speaker 2: football is always time and ever present things. I hadn't
- 14:10Speaker 2: felt like there had been as much buzz in the
- 14:13Speaker 2: lead up, especially like I'm in Los Angeles. So far
- 14:15Speaker 2: has had a couple of great games already, including Team
- 14:18Speaker 2: USA's first game. But I do think Team USA having
- 14:22Speaker 2: such a strong showing where I'm not, you know, Mike Ryan,
- 14:26Speaker 2: I don't have the depth and breadth of soccer watching
- 14:28Speaker 2: in my background here, but I'm like everyone else when
- 14:31Speaker 2: the World Cup starts, I pay attention to Team USA,
- 14:33Speaker 2: see if we're finally going to take that next step
- 14:35Speaker 2: that everyone's been prophesizing and this was the best that
- 14:39Speaker 2: we had ever seen in terms of confidence, creativity. They
- 14:42Speaker 2: were constantly attacking, possessing the football. I understand the competition,
- 14:46Speaker 2: but seeing us come out and have such a strong
- 14:50Speaker 2: showing kind of gave me that, oh, okay, maybe there's
- 14:53Speaker 2: some hope and now I'm invested in. Now it's like, well,
- 14:56Speaker 2: let me watch some of the teams that we could play,
- 14:58Speaker 2: maybe check this out, and then you add in. It's
- 15:00Speaker 2: been the coolest factor, which has been all of the videos,
- 15:03Speaker 2: news stories, social media, groundswell of people coming from overseas
- 15:08Speaker 2: and experiencing American things in the cities that are hosting
- 15:11Speaker 2: their team, like you know, the Algerian team being in
- 15:14Speaker 2: Kansas being fully embraced by Jayhawk fans, the Scots waking
- 15:18Speaker 2: up early in Boston and having themselves a time. Freddie
- 15:21Speaker 2: the German soccer fan making his trip across the country
- 15:24Speaker 2: and enjoying everything that's come with that, Like, it's been
- 15:27Speaker 2: really fun to actually see despite all the like geopolitical
- 15:32Speaker 2: awful differences that are going on, that these like wonderful
- 15:35Speaker 2: inner minglings of culture have really been like what's been
- 15:38Speaker 2: the foundation of my excitement.
- 15:40Speaker 4: So are they you were in Italy? Do they have
- 15:44Speaker 4: World Cup fever? Are they still coming down from the
- 15:46Speaker 4: World Baseball Classic? Is that or is that where they're at?
- 15:49Speaker 2: Yeah? I think none of the above. I caught a
- 15:53Speaker 2: Champions League final over there, that was about it. But
- 15:57Speaker 2: other than that, like, I was also in the tourist area,
- 15:59Speaker 2: so a lot of the people I was walking around
- 16:01Speaker 2: would look like me.
- 16:03Speaker 3: Kojo, What did you make of the early contender for
- 16:07Speaker 3: the story of the World Cup where Cape Verde, the
- 16:10Speaker 3: third smallest country to ever qualify for the World Cup,
- 16:13Speaker 3: held favorite Spain to a scoreless draw. The story their
- 16:17Speaker 3: goalkeeper Vosnia, forty years old. He had seven saves, forcing
- 16:22Speaker 3: the game to a tie.
- 16:24Speaker 1: STU.
- 16:24Speaker 3: Yesterday he woke up with fifty thousand followers on Instagram.
- 16:28Speaker 2: Wow.
- 16:29Speaker 3: He currently has over eight million followers.
- 16:32Speaker 1: Wow. That's what seven saves will do for you.
- 16:34Speaker 2: I mean, man, I tell you what. First off, that
- 16:39Speaker 2: would stress me out so much, cause you guys know,
- 16:42Speaker 2: when you wake up and like social media, your social
- 16:46Speaker 2: media is buzzing, You're like, oh God, what happened? Like
- 16:49Speaker 2: is something wrong? Like what has happened here? But then
- 16:53Speaker 2: once it settles in here, that man a we know
- 16:57Speaker 2: in his home country, never gonna have to pay for
- 16:59Speaker 2: a drinking in his life, But eight million followers on
- 17:02Speaker 2: Instagram that's real money. Like, my guy is a made
- 17:06Speaker 2: man now with that. So I would be kind of
- 17:09Speaker 2: like Ben Affleck and Goodwill hunting, kicking my feet up
- 17:12Speaker 2: on the table in a suit, shouting retainer because you're
- 17:15Speaker 2: gonna have to pay me. Advertisers coming to try and
- 17:18Speaker 2: get a little bit of this new eight million follower goodness.
- 17:21Speaker 1: It's the best scoreless results ever, You would agree, right,
- 17:23Speaker 1: I mean.
- 17:25Speaker 2: Oh yeah, And that's it's like the American education in soccer.
- 17:28Speaker 2: Every time a world event like this comes up, where
- 17:31Speaker 2: like we have exciting draws, like you can move on
- 17:34Speaker 2: by losing in the group stage and still having enough points,
- 17:37Speaker 2: Like it's so foreign to all of us. So every
- 17:39Speaker 2: time I feel like people are like what And it
- 17:41Speaker 2: takes a minute for it to seep in, But like
- 17:44Speaker 2: there's been a bunch of very exciting draws, very exciting
- 17:47Speaker 2: scoreless matches, and you know who doesn't love a goalie
- 17:50Speaker 2: standing on his head because then we get to say that.
- 17:52Speaker 1: Yes, I mean, it's a barrage in soccer.
- 17:54Speaker 2: Seventh saves.
- 17:55Speaker 1: It's a record. It has to be a record, right,
- 17:56Speaker 1: Seven saves in a soccer game has to be a record. Right,
- 17:58Speaker 1: These were shots on goal in your personal record book, Mikey,
- 18:05Speaker 1: He and I have spent You've been great, You're always great.
- 18:07Speaker 1: We love you. But we have spent the entire time
- 18:09Speaker 1: texting back and forth about your wedding and wondering if
- 18:12Speaker 1: we're any closer to head orgeron in a bathing suit
- 18:17Speaker 1: by the baby by the swimming pool, because your wife
- 18:20Speaker 1: has agreed to have a bathing suit only party, a
- 18:23Speaker 1: wedding party. There's no way she agreed to this. We're
- 18:25Speaker 1: not closer. We're further than we've ever been, right.
- 18:28Speaker 2: We are further than we've ever been from bathing suit wedding.
- 18:33Speaker 2: That one got shut down as quickly as you would think.
- 18:39Speaker 2: Coach O there still in the mix. And I guess
- 18:41Speaker 2: what's been established is if Coach O were willing to
- 18:45Speaker 2: come and be a part of this wedding in any
- 18:47Speaker 2: form that he wants. Again, Yes, I would love him
- 18:49Speaker 2: to officiate. He can wear whatever he wants. O. I
- 18:53Speaker 2: don't care. He's Coach O, come as you are. But
- 18:56Speaker 2: so yes, we have to wave bye bye to the
- 18:58Speaker 2: to the bathing suit wedding, but still puttentially hello to
- 19:01Speaker 2: ed Ordron.
- 19:02Speaker 1: Okay, but the pool's out. That whole thing is out
- 19:04Speaker 1: right pools out. Yeah, you discussed it whe her and
- 19:07Speaker 1: she said, uh no, right, no, kind of.
- 19:10Speaker 2: It almost like patted me on the head and was like,
- 19:13Speaker 2: that's cute. Yeah, what a cute thing you thought of.
- 19:16Speaker 1: Yeah, you're adorable, rights.
- 19:19Speaker 2: Bless your heart. And then just the kind of it's
- 19:21Speaker 2: it's kind of becoming like my dad, who you know,
- 19:24Speaker 2: is like an iPad kid, you know my mom. If
- 19:26Speaker 2: he's acting up, can just hand him his iPad. He
- 19:28Speaker 2: can go and watch your shows with me. It's like, hey,
- 19:32Speaker 2: you know, you can go watch some of your stories,
- 19:33Speaker 2: or you know, go play your dumb college football video.
- 19:35Speaker 1: Let him dream.
- 19:36Speaker 2: The grown up will handle the wedding.
- 19:38Speaker 4: You know what I'm going to do with this idea,
- 19:40Speaker 4: I'm going to put it right here on the fridge,
- 19:43Speaker 4: right here, so we can see where it is. Good job.
- 19:47Speaker 2: Look here you are.
- 19:53Speaker 1: We had your dad on and told him what you
- 19:55Speaker 1: were thinking. I've never heard your dad laugh as hard
- 19:58Speaker 1: as it did when we I voted the idea that
- 20:01Speaker 1: you wanted a pool party as your wedding reception.
- 20:05Speaker 2: It's this whole experience has kind of reminded me like
- 20:10Speaker 2: how far behind everyone else I was? Yes, because I'm
- 20:13Speaker 2: experiencing all these things with, you know, with love and
- 20:16Speaker 2: the process of getting married now for the first time.
- 20:19Speaker 2: My parents have obviously been married almost forty years. My
- 20:22Speaker 2: brother and his wife were married like a decade, Like
- 20:25Speaker 2: all my friends have been married a decade. And so
- 20:27Speaker 2: I'm going through all this stuff and they're all being
- 20:29Speaker 2: really kind to me and letting me experience this and
- 20:32Speaker 2: not offering too much advice. But I have a feeling
- 20:35Speaker 2: there's a lot of side group chats that are really
- 20:38Speaker 2: laughing their asses off at just how dumb and naive
- 20:42Speaker 2: I am about this whole process. Yes, I love you
- 20:44Speaker 2: for it.
- 20:44Speaker 4: Yeah, I feel like you were back with the Steelers.
- 20:47Speaker 4: Your fiance is like you're behind.
- 20:49Speaker 2: Okay, this is fine, welcome, You're great, but also figure
- 20:58Speaker 2: it out.
- 20:58Speaker 1: It out. So mikey A revealed and you you've known
- 21:02Speaker 1: this about him for a while now because he told
- 21:03Speaker 1: us a while ago. But I think we found a
- 21:05Speaker 1: spot for mikey A at your wedding. Okay, mikey A
- 21:09Speaker 1: revealed on the radio show that he was a party
- 21:11Speaker 1: starter once its once, Maybe maybe you can get this
- 21:16Speaker 1: past your bride to be Okay, mikey A hired as
- 21:20Speaker 1: a party starter for the wedding. He gets everyone on
- 21:22Speaker 1: the dance floor, he gets everyone excited for the party.
- 21:25Speaker 4: You know, I work for food and drinks at this point, Hey,
- 21:29Speaker 4: I work for babysitting money. If you could give my
- 21:32Speaker 4: kid a babysitter and then just feed me and give
- 21:35Speaker 4: me drinks, you.
- 21:35Speaker 2: Don't need to give me anything else. I love this, honestly.
- 21:39Speaker 2: That works perfectly because mikey A, that may be the
- 21:44Speaker 2: single most valuable position at my wedding because that was
- 21:49Speaker 2: usually me. I was the party starter the weddings that
- 21:52Speaker 2: I was a guest at. And you're gonna be busy.
- 21:55Speaker 2: That's the one thing I know for sure, and the
- 21:58Speaker 2: hardest thing to combat is everyonding I've ever been to,
- 22:00Speaker 2: the bride and groom barely have time to breathe, like
- 22:02Speaker 2: I was the wedding I was at in Rome. The
- 22:05Speaker 2: bride came through and didn't get to see any of
- 22:07Speaker 2: the food and beverage laid out in the cocktail hour
- 22:10Speaker 2: because they're preparing for pictures and doing all these different things,
- 22:13Speaker 2: and so I am going to have to pass that
- 22:15Speaker 2: baton officially to Mikey, who would be doing the most
- 22:18Speaker 2: valuable service at the wedding, because I want it to
- 22:21Speaker 2: be fun.
- 22:21Speaker 1: Do it well right, walks around, tells Brian Kelly, Hey,
- 22:25Speaker 1: get up already, get on the dance floor, get out here.
- 22:29Speaker 2: He walks you walk by people. This is my favorite
- 22:32Speaker 2: move too for the party started, because one of my
- 22:34Speaker 2: friends did this to me in the last wedding too.
- 22:35Speaker 2: Is out on the dance floor, the one who starts
- 22:38Speaker 2: loosening the ties. Well, yeah, we're a couple of buttons
- 22:42Speaker 2: off on you.
- 22:43Speaker 1: Just you go.
- 22:44Speaker 2: This is where we're at now, yep, this is where
- 22:47Speaker 2: we're at in sweat a little bit, yes, a little
- 22:49Speaker 2: bit more, and this is the high and tight. Not
- 22:52Speaker 2: gonna do it for you.
- 22:53Speaker 4: You gotta let it breathe, Let it breathe. Me and
- 22:55Speaker 4: coacho choreographed dance just saying.
- 23:00Speaker 2: I see now we're because you know because also, like
- 23:04Speaker 2: every dance floor there ends up being a dance for circle.
- 23:07Speaker 2: People usually want some of that. And now if you
- 23:09Speaker 2: guys are willing to go out there and kickstart that party,
- 23:12Speaker 2: everyone else joins in maybe. I mean you guys maybe
- 23:14Speaker 2: got a little limbo. I could see you and coach
- 23:16Speaker 2: o the belt together holding the tie.
- 23:19Speaker 1: Yeah, yes, Gojo, do me a favor. I'm not certain
- 23:22Speaker 1: what the date is, but we have to plan this now.
- 23:24Speaker 1: Maybe July. I'm thinking August. We don't want to mess
- 23:26Speaker 1: with football season, and we don't want to mess with
- 23:28Speaker 1: the Knicks going back to back.
- 23:29Speaker 2: Okay, I mean just no, it's a fair point now,
- 23:32Speaker 2: so I have to account for that the next you know,
- 23:35Speaker 2: potential budding superpower. So we're we're gonna effort like a
- 23:38Speaker 2: summer wedding here.
- 23:39Speaker 1: In Los Angeles. I'll send you and your bride to
- 23:41Speaker 1: be some dates that work for me. As that say
- 23:44Speaker 1: perfect from there.
- 23:45Speaker 2: That's it's good. You guys can help instead of like
- 23:47Speaker 2: a instead of like a team draft, we can do
- 23:49Speaker 2: the table draft on this show. Yes, I'll just come on.
- 23:53Speaker 2: We can leave a list of names, and then we
- 23:55Speaker 2: can have you guys help organize, especially like the sports
- 23:58Speaker 2: media tables, you know, history friends. We could start to
- 24:01Speaker 2: do that for maximum. I'm thinking too, and this is
- 24:04Speaker 2: I just thought of this now. I want to run
- 24:06Speaker 2: this by you guys. Okay, be a decent sports media
- 24:08Speaker 2: presence that this one friend's made through the industry. You guys,
- 24:11Speaker 2: others just putting a microphone at each table, like instead
- 24:14Speaker 2: of putting a disposable camera. Every table's got to record
- 24:18Speaker 2: a small podcast.
- 24:19Speaker 1: I love it. Yes, Yes, Miena is gonna bring Lenny.
- 24:25Speaker 2: Lenny's getting his own invitation. It's not even like the
- 24:28Speaker 2: plus two situation. It's no mean and her husband will
- 24:31Speaker 2: get the invitation and then Lenny will get his own
- 24:33Speaker 2: in the mail.
- 24:34Speaker 1: Yes, wow, but the offer is still standing. We can
- 24:37Speaker 1: we can do the show live from there.
- 24:39Speaker 2: Yes, oh yeah, live show. I'm still talking about trying
- 24:42Speaker 2: to sell the wedding to like I The one thing
- 24:45Speaker 2: that's become abundantly clear. Man, gonna lose some money on this.
- 24:53Speaker 1: You'll lose some money the rest of your life, my friends.
- 24:55Speaker 2: Like you know, we could. Every part of the wedding
- 24:58Speaker 2: is up for sale, every part of the ceremony, live reads,
- 25:02Speaker 2: add placement on my physical being on the tables, All
- 25:06Speaker 2: of it can be yours if the price is right.
- 25:07Speaker 2: I need help, Mike. He just wants food and drinking,
- 25:11Speaker 2: a babysitter. That's it.
- 25:16Speaker 1: We'll get this done. I love that you should have
- 25:18Speaker 1: the tables as individual podcasts like have the Dominique Fox
- 25:21Speaker 1: Sports show over there right, Charlie's with them.
- 25:24Speaker 4: Ooh, table seventeen podcasts sounds wonderful, telling you such a
- 25:29Speaker 4: good idea instead of like the little photo album where
- 25:32Speaker 4: everyone goes and it's the disposable camera and you take
- 25:34Speaker 4: the little picture and write the bride and groom a
- 25:36Speaker 4: note full podcast like we can get video there.
- 25:39Speaker 2: I'll put one of those three sixty cameras on the table.
- 25:42Speaker 2: We'll make sure everyone's mics are up and recording, and
- 25:44Speaker 2: then after it on the honeymoon, I just get to
- 25:46Speaker 2: spend the flight listening to podcasts. My friend's probably talking
- 25:49Speaker 2: about me at the wedding.
- 25:51Speaker 1: Yep, Mikey, he has us doing radio shows podcasts, and
- 25:55Speaker 1: then he's on the plane to his honeymoon listening to
- 25:57Speaker 1: the podcast.
- 25:58Speaker 2: He's gonna get the more so quickly. It's wedding Radio Row.
- 26:06Speaker 2: I come honored to be there. I mean, dude, you're
- 26:10Speaker 2: the mayor of Radio Row, so it would not be
- 26:12Speaker 2: complete were you not there.
- 26:14Speaker 1: Yes, I am going to dominate this wedding. Gojo, we
- 26:16Speaker 1: love you, Thank you for joining us.
- 26:18Speaker 2: Welcome back.
- 26:20Speaker 1: Check out the Echoes Notre Dame podcast. He does it
- 26:23Speaker 1: with Jessica Spatada once a week. Go Joe, we love you,
- 26:26Speaker 1: We appreciate it.
- 26:26Speaker 4: B thank guys.
