A 22-year-old Pennsylvania man, Joseph Erkert, has been arrested on multiple child sex abuse charges after an international investigation by Ottawa police and U.S. Homeland Security. The case began when Ottawa police responded to a complaint about an 11-year-old victim being exploited online over months. Evidence revealed Erkert also abused a 14-year-old in the U.S., and he was confirmed to have traveled to Ottawa in July 2025 to meet the younger victim.
