- 0:12Speaker 1: Let's have a day, because there's still baseball. Yes, we
- 0:15Speaker 1: have at least one more game in the 2026 season. Bron, Kratz, Dance,
- 0:19Speaker 1: and AJ's here. Also, it brings me life when you
- 0:21Speaker 1: guys bring material at the top of the show. I
- 0:24Speaker 1: love that. So, Kratz, you go first, and then AJ
- 0:27Speaker 1: will follow, but you guys lead things off.
- 0:29Speaker 2: I will not say who sent this to me, but
- 0:32Speaker 2: it is a very high-ranking person in one of the
- 0:35Speaker 2: two teams that is still... participating in the world series
- 0:41Speaker 2: but i got this last night and it made me
- 0:44Speaker 2: feel like i was there i mean in the section
- 0:49Speaker 2: right that one row in front of this person one
- 0:52Speaker 2: row the cratch jersey i mean.
- 0:56Speaker 3: I feel as famous as john smoltz i'm just gonna
- 0:58Speaker 3: say it wow that's amazing they had it that they
- 1:04Speaker 3: had it this long Well, I'm sure in 2019 there
- 1:08Speaker 3: were some cratch jerseys at Ross, and so they were
- 1:11Speaker 3: going on special.
- 1:12Speaker 2: So they were like, I need a Milwaukee jersey. And
- 1:14Speaker 2: they're like, cratch, that's kind of an awkward one. But
- 1:17Speaker 2: you're like, hey, you know what? I got a Milwaukee jersey.
- 1:20Speaker 2: Kept it this long.
- 1:22Speaker 1: If I was selling it, AJ, I'd be like, it's timeless.
- 1:24Speaker 1: Get the cratch jersey. No matter where he goes, it's timeless.
- 1:28Speaker 1: It's vintage. It's unique. One day he's going to be
- 1:31Speaker 1: a digital show podcast star. Someone's like– Still not sold.
- 1:36Speaker 1: And they're like, I'll give it to you for two bucks. Sold.
- 1:39Speaker 3: Got it.
- 1:41Speaker 4: Nice.
- 1:41Speaker 1: All right. What's your bit?
- 1:45Speaker 3: Which one are we going with here? Which, which, which
- 1:47Speaker 3: one do we want to go with? I mean, I
- 1:49Speaker 3: have so many bits.
- 1:50Speaker 1: First of all, we're going to start with this one now.
- 1:52Speaker 3: Yeah. Oh yeah. There it is. Okay. DJ Kitty. DJ
- 1:58Speaker 3: Kitty's handler requested that I meet him because he had
- 2:01Speaker 3: a special present for me.
- 2:02Speaker 1: So.
- 2:03Speaker 3: There it is, the DJ Kitty autographed one-of-one ball. He
- 2:07Speaker 3: has a hard time sending DMs because he has the
- 2:10Speaker 3: paws that are hard to hit the button, so his
- 2:12Speaker 3: handler has to send DMs, but he can clearly sign
- 2:15Speaker 3: a ball. I don't know. I feel like this ball
- 2:18Speaker 3: is one-of-one. What do you guys think? Is this a
- 2:20Speaker 3: one-of-one ball? DJ Kitty autographed ball? I've never seen one.
- 2:24Speaker 3: My buddy that was with me at the game bought
- 2:25Speaker 3: a Nolan Ryan ball, and I'm like, DJ Kitty, and
- 2:28Speaker 3: they kept showing DJ Kitty on the– Jumbotron at Tropicana Field,
- 2:31Speaker 3: and I'd just be like, DJ Kitty's worth more than
- 2:33Speaker 3: Nolan Ryan. He'd just shake his head at me like,
- 2:35Speaker 3: you're an idiot.
- 2:37Speaker 2: I don't know if this is appropriate or not, but
- 2:40Speaker 2: I said it after the show yesterday. The relationship with AJ.
- 2:45Speaker 3: And the mascots... across this entire season. See? And that
- 2:49Speaker 3: smile right there.
- 2:50Speaker 2: How many times do we get that kind of smile
- 2:54Speaker 2: from AJ?
- 2:56Speaker 3: Okay, so you guys, this is the– okay, last night. Complain. Explain.
- 3:01Speaker 3: I was going to meet DJ Kitty last night, okay,
- 3:03Speaker 3: during the game. It was like the– it was fourth-ish inning,
- 3:06Speaker 3: fourth-ish inning. Did your wife know that? Yep, she was
- 3:09Speaker 3: sitting next to me. And I'm like, I got to
- 3:11Speaker 3: go meet DJ Kitty. I'll be right back.
- 3:12Speaker 1: Did you let the kids high five him first, or
- 3:14Speaker 1: did you cut the line?
- 3:15Speaker 3: No, no, no. He came out. Yes, I knocked all
- 3:19Speaker 3: the kids. What was that movie where he's knocking over
- 3:21Speaker 3: all the kids?
- 3:21Speaker 1: Let me go say hi to my friend.
- 3:23Speaker 3: They met in an elevator. They did the first time.
- 3:27Speaker 3: But then last night, now that his handler and I
- 3:31Speaker 3: are DM buddies. Simpatico. He says, hey, DJ has a
- 3:36Speaker 3: ball he wants to sign for you. So I said, great.
- 3:38Speaker 3: And they told me where to meet him. So I
- 3:40Speaker 3: go down. I'm going down the escalator at the trop.
- 3:43Speaker 3: And as I'm coming down, the head PR guy for
- 3:45Speaker 3: Fox is going up like this. We're crossing. And I'm like, hey, Jace.
- 3:50Speaker 3: I don't know if he's the head guy. He's the
- 3:51Speaker 3: guy I deal with the most. So I call him
- 3:52Speaker 3: the head guy. But I'm like, hey, Jace, you might
- 3:54Speaker 3: want to come see this. So he goes up the
- 3:57Speaker 3: elevator and he comes down the stairs because there's no
- 3:59Speaker 3: elevator going down. The elevator only goes up. So he's
- 4:02Speaker 3: running down the stairs. He catches up to me and goes,
- 4:04Speaker 3: what do you got? Dude, who are you going to meet?
- 4:05Speaker 3: Is it going to be somebody cool? And I was like,
- 4:07Speaker 3: DJ Kitty. He's like, are you kidding me? So DJ
- 4:11Speaker 3: came out from that where it's blocked off, you know,
- 4:13Speaker 3: the tunnel to go to the clubhouse. As he comes out,
- 4:15Speaker 3: he's all excited with his people, you know, and no
- 4:17Speaker 3: one really notices him. He walks right up to me.
- 4:19Speaker 3: He gives me a huge hug. You know, this handler
- 4:22Speaker 3: says Kratz still isn't his favorite. He gives me a hug.
- 4:25Speaker 3: He's like, here's my ball. And then I made the
- 4:27Speaker 3: PR guy for Fox take pictures of me and DJ Kitty.
- 4:29Speaker 3: He's like, did I really? Because that's the best thing
- 4:31Speaker 3: I've seen at the whole World Series, the fact that
- 4:33Speaker 3: you're tight with DJ Kitty.
- 4:35Speaker 2: How did DJ Kitty smell? Did DJ Kitty smell fresh?
- 4:38Speaker 1: No.
- 4:39Speaker 3: Yeah, he did. No, because he uses a good cat litter.
- 4:41Speaker 3: You know, he uses the proper cat litter to make
- 4:43Speaker 3: sure that he smells fresh and clean. Yeah, he does.
- 4:46Speaker 1: It's organic.
- 4:47Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 4:48Speaker 1: No artificial ingredients.
- 4:49Speaker 3: I'm huge in the mascot. If I could have got Raymond,
- 4:52Speaker 3: then it would have been a clean sweep. I've, you know,
- 4:54Speaker 3: Bernie Brewer and now Raymond.
- 4:57Speaker 1: The furry convention might have AJ's next year. One of
- 5:02Speaker 1: my favorite years. you know, the Mets, the Mets every year,
- 5:07Speaker 1: like when the Mets, I don't know, it's like Mets
- 5:08Speaker 1: pirates or whatever. For some reason, they always end up
- 5:12Speaker 1: playing a team that's got a furry convention and then
- 5:14Speaker 1: they all go to the game and then Keith Hernandez
- 5:18Speaker 1: earns his paycheck for virality. I'll just put it that way.
- 5:22Speaker 3: What were you going to say?
- 5:24Speaker 2: I was just going to say, that's why I didn't
- 5:26Speaker 2: think DJ Kitty was real, because the Rally Monkey didn't
- 5:29Speaker 2: become a mascot. DJ Kitty was just a thing on
- 5:32Speaker 2: the screen, and it got everybody hype, and everybody was
- 5:35Speaker 2: juiced up, and then it became a mascot. So the
- 5:39Speaker 2: fact that the Rally Monkey never became a mascot, but
- 5:42Speaker 2: DJ Kitty becomes a mascot, I'm here for it.
- 5:45Speaker 3: I'm here for it for you, AJ. Thank you.
- 5:48Speaker 1: It was a miss. Missed by the Angels to not
- 5:50Speaker 1: make the Rally Monkey a mascot.
- 5:53Speaker 3: Add it to the list. When I go to the
- 5:55Speaker 3: Vatican next time, I might give this to the Pope instead.
- 5:59Speaker 1: He'd be like, you're not invited again.
- 6:03Speaker 3: Leo, hopefully I'll see you in a couple weeks, buddy.
- 6:08Speaker 3: That's right.
- 6:09Speaker 1: All right, let's talk ball. First off, real quick before
- 6:12Speaker 1: we do that, Game 5 is happening. And so is
- 6:15Speaker 1: the post-game show live after Brewers raised. We did one
- 6:19Speaker 1: last night. We had a good time. I couldn't do math,
- 6:21Speaker 1: but besides that, it went swimmingly. So make sure you
- 6:24Speaker 1: check us out again after Brewers-Rays World Series Game 5.
- 6:29Speaker 1: It's Charge. Yeah, Charge the Mound is presented by the
- 6:35Speaker 1: Fox 1 app. That's where you can continue to catch
- 6:36Speaker 1: the World Series. So, AJ, you were there. Thoughts on
- 6:39Speaker 1: what happened? And was everyone in shock at the ballpark?
- 6:45Speaker 1: I mean, I guess I could ask that in two ways. One,
- 6:47Speaker 1: with Rays fans being like, are we really about to
- 6:50Speaker 1: get swept and then at one point suddenly the Brewers
- 6:55Speaker 1: fans got quiet for the first time in like I
- 6:57Speaker 1: don't know a month and a half a month.
- 7:01Speaker 3: Um okay well first of all full disclosure I stayed
- 7:03Speaker 3: until the end of the 11th inning I had to
- 7:05Speaker 3: leave at the 12th inning I had a nice drive
- 7:07Speaker 3: home last night and I had a buddy who had
- 7:09Speaker 3: to catch a flight at five in the morning so
- 7:12Speaker 3: I left after the end of the 11th inning, so
- 7:16Speaker 3: I ended up watching the game in my car, the
- 7:19Speaker 3: last inning in my car. But I will say this,
- 7:23Speaker 3: and I've said this. I said it on Twitter, and
- 7:25Speaker 3: I said this after game three, and I'll swear by
- 7:29Speaker 3: it after game four. The Brewers fans showed out. Man,
- 7:31Speaker 3: I've never been to an away game. I've never seen
- 7:35Speaker 3: an away game. where the road team's fans are louder.
- 7:39Speaker 3: And I don't know the exact number, but I was
- 7:44Speaker 3: on the field pregame, and there was only Brewers fans
- 7:47Speaker 3: there cheering. Every guy that came out for BP, every
- 7:50Speaker 3: guy that came out to do anything to warm up,
- 7:53Speaker 3: they went crazy. And it seemed like there was more
- 7:58Speaker 3: Brewers fans. So the atmosphere was absolutely off the charts, great.
- 8:04Speaker 3: And then the Rays went up early. The Brewers fans actually,
- 8:07Speaker 3: when the Rays scored early, they got louder and were like,
- 8:10Speaker 3: let's go. Because they kept trying to do the let's
- 8:12Speaker 3: go Rays. And every time they do that, then right
- 8:15Speaker 3: after it was a full minute of let's go Brewers chance,
- 8:18Speaker 3: as loud as you can imagine. So the atmosphere was awesome.
- 8:22Speaker 3: It was a really good game. It wasn't a well-played game,
- 8:25Speaker 3: especially if you were a third baseman. but it was
- 8:27Speaker 3: a really fun game to watch. I mean, I just
- 8:30Speaker 3: remember looking around at Rays fans biting their fingernails. I mean,
- 8:34Speaker 3: Brewers fans were like, oh, please let us win, please,
- 8:37Speaker 3: and they're biting their fingernails. So for that respect, with
- 8:39Speaker 3: no skin in the game, it was an awesome game
- 8:42Speaker 3: to watch and be around and just witness the atmosphere.
- 8:45Speaker 3: I wasn't there, Scott, so I don't know what the
- 8:47Speaker 3: atmosphere was like.
- 8:48Speaker 1: I'm not asking for you to tell me about the atmosphere.
- 8:50Speaker 1: I want you to tell me about the game. Tell
- 8:53Speaker 1: me what happened. Tell me about it. Ortiz, tell me
- 8:56Speaker 1: about pitching decisions. Actually, you know what, Kratz? I heard
- 8:58Speaker 1: some of this from you, so I'm going to go
- 9:00Speaker 1: back to A.J. again. So now after atmosphere, A.J., give
- 9:03Speaker 1: me thoughts. Like did you think.
- 9:05Speaker 3: This was over?
- 9:06Speaker 1: What did you think of the Ortiz error?
- 9:08Speaker 3: First of all, I thought Dustin May threw the ball well,
- 9:11Speaker 3: which all he needed to do was give him what
- 9:13Speaker 3: he gave him because their bullpen was completely lined up.
- 9:16Speaker 3: I thought Griffin Jacks pitched his tail off, man. I
- 9:20Speaker 3: know he gave up the home run to Hamilton, but
- 9:22Speaker 3: he pitched awesome. my wife was the next to me
- 9:25Speaker 3: and she said uh you know is this guy nervous
- 9:27Speaker 3: you think i'm like this dude's in the air force
- 9:29Speaker 3: you think he's nervous about pitching the world this guy
- 9:30Speaker 3: flies fighter jets for a living he's not very nervous
- 9:33Speaker 3: um and then uh the bullpen usage was interesting nick
- 9:37Speaker 3: martinez who was supposed to pitch game four had to
- 9:38Speaker 3: come in and give him a few innings uh and
- 9:41Speaker 3: then you could see it was it was baker for
- 9:43Speaker 3: two it was well uh tyler wells for two it
- 9:47Speaker 3: was uh They used Boozer at some point, and then
- 9:50Speaker 3: you're like, all right, now who's next? And I saw Seymour,
- 9:53Speaker 3: and I was like, oh, he hasn't pitched very well
- 9:56Speaker 3: in this World Series in these playoffs. So it could
- 10:00Speaker 3: get interesting. And he gave up the home run, obviously
- 10:02Speaker 3: didn't end up killing him. But then you look at
- 10:04Speaker 3: the other side, what was interesting to me is they
- 10:06Speaker 3: used May, and then they used Jojo Romero, and they
- 10:08Speaker 3: used all their guys. They used a rebate for multiple innings.
- 10:12Speaker 3: And then they used McGill. for a third of an inning.
- 10:17Speaker 3: I didn't understand that. Why didn't McGill go back out?
- 10:20Speaker 3: I know it was a lefty pocket, but McGill hasn't
- 10:21Speaker 3: given up a home run in like seven months or
- 10:24Speaker 3: something crazy. Give it a one home run the whole year.
- 10:26Speaker 3: So I didn't understand why they didn't go back to McGill.
- 10:29Speaker 3: And then they let Ashby run for almost three innings,
- 10:31Speaker 3: but his pitch count was really low. So I don't
- 10:33Speaker 3: have a problem with any of the pitching. The only
- 10:34Speaker 3: question I have is the McGill a third of an inning. Um,
- 10:38Speaker 3: why he didn't go back out there. And as far
- 10:40Speaker 3: as the errors go, okay, the first error on Hamilton
- 10:42Speaker 3: was tough. He thought he was going to be able
- 10:44Speaker 3: to tag Caminero. That was terrible base running by Caminero.
- 10:47Speaker 3: He ran right out of the ball in front of
- 10:49Speaker 3: him to the third baseman. He got out of it,
- 10:51Speaker 3: and then he forced Hamilton to make a bad throw.
- 10:53Speaker 3: So people say, oh, that was good base running. It
- 10:54Speaker 3: was terrible base running. And then the Ortiz error, to me,
- 10:58Speaker 3: he was deep in the hole. And if you remember earlier,
- 11:00Speaker 3: he had gotten a ground ball. I think it might
- 11:02Speaker 3: have been the inning before. and he threw it short.
- 11:04Speaker 3: He kind of short-armed it, and he bounced, and Bowers
- 11:07Speaker 3: picked it, right? Well, this one, he kind of gave
- 11:09Speaker 3: him a tweener, and it was because he backed up,
- 11:12Speaker 3: and he had time. I mean, Junior was running, so
- 11:14Speaker 3: he had time, and listen, man, we've all, I mean,
- 11:17Speaker 3: I've been there, Crouch, you've been there. The pressure gets
- 11:19Speaker 3: on you, you get a little, when you let it go,
- 11:23Speaker 3: he short-armed it, error, and then I give the Rays
- 11:25Speaker 3: a ton of credit for the at-bats. The Hicks at-bat,
- 11:28Speaker 3: Dakota left field for the hit, and Caminero, who was
- 11:30Speaker 3: just limping, went first to third right in their face,
- 11:33Speaker 3: right in Churrio's face in left field. I mean, didn't
- 11:36Speaker 3: even slow down. Looked like he was Chandler Simpson running
- 11:39Speaker 3: the bases. Simpson couldn't get the bunt down, gets the hit.
- 11:41Speaker 3: There were so many guys that deserve credit. DeLuca, Simpson,
- 11:44Speaker 3: obviously Williamson with the hit. Again, it was a great game,
- 11:47Speaker 3: but it was just– nobody could.
- 11:49Speaker 4: Get a hit.
- 11:49Speaker 3: Nobody could get a hit. We got a couple hits,
- 11:51Speaker 3: got a couple homers, and then all of a sudden
- 11:53Speaker 3: the Rays out of nowhere just came alive. And this
- 11:55Speaker 3: is the first time we've seen the entire series where
- 11:58Speaker 3: the Brewers have made a mistake. They actually made two mistakes,
- 12:02Speaker 3: and the Rays were able to capitalize it. So I
- 12:05Speaker 3: don't know. I don't know. I didn't think the Rays
- 12:08Speaker 3: could figure it out, but the Brewers helped them out,
- 12:10Speaker 3: and they still had to barely win this game in
- 12:13Speaker 3: 12 innings.
- 12:15Speaker 2: Do you think they should have taken Sensatella out? Do
- 12:19Speaker 2: you think Drohan was the play?
- 12:21Speaker 3: Yes, just because of where they were. And I also
- 12:24Speaker 3: think here's the thing. Hicks was coming. All these guys
- 12:27Speaker 3: were coming. I think Murph wants also– Murph was looking
- 12:32Speaker 3: ahead to today. And after Ashby had thrown three and
- 12:36Speaker 3: his velo was down the third inning, I mean, he
- 12:38Speaker 3: was still 97, I think, in the last inning when
- 12:40Speaker 3: he was out there. I think he's saying, man, we're
- 12:43Speaker 3: going to need somebody to be able to go tomorrow.
- 12:45Speaker 3: May's probably down today. I mean, I guess you could
- 12:47Speaker 3: use Romero.
- 12:49Speaker 4: D.L.
- 12:49Speaker 3: Hall is an option, but he's like, I'm going to
- 12:51Speaker 3: need a righty at some point, other than Uribe, who
- 12:53Speaker 3: went multiple innings. So maybe he was looking ahead. I
- 12:56Speaker 3: don't know, but I don't have a problem with taking
- 12:58Speaker 3: him out. I just, I, yeah. To me, I hope
- 13:02Speaker 3: the McGill thing is because they're hoping for today. Yeah.
- 13:06Speaker 1: But also, Gratsy.
- 13:07Speaker 3: Krasny, here's the thing about the Sensatella. And this is–
- 13:10Speaker 3: you know this. Managers do this. I'm not saying Murph
- 13:12Speaker 3: does this, okay? So I'm not saying Murph does this.
- 13:14Speaker 3: But sometimes managers also manage for the post-game press conference.
- 13:17Speaker 3: He brought in Drohan. If Sensatella comes in and Hicks
- 13:21Speaker 3: hits a home run and they lose, everybody's going to say,
- 13:23Speaker 3: we had Drohan warming up. Why didn't you bring in
- 13:24Speaker 3: the lefty, right? And I don't think– I'm not saying
- 13:26Speaker 3: Murph did that, but it just made sense because of
- 13:29Speaker 3: where they were in the order because they had Hicks,
- 13:33Speaker 3: and then I think it was Toluca, and then it went–
- 13:36Speaker 3: Victor Mesa, and then it went Chandler Simpson. So there
- 13:39Speaker 3: was a whole bunch of lefties lined up. That's why
- 13:41Speaker 3: I think he went because he was out of the
- 13:42Speaker 3: other lefties.
- 13:44Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, the problem I have is when a
- 13:47Speaker 1: guy hasn't pitched. I mean, he's pitched one inning in
- 13:49Speaker 1: a month, and you're asking him to close out the
- 13:52Speaker 1: World Series. I don't know. It just generally doesn't go well.
- 13:55Speaker 3: I said that when I was watching.
- 13:57Speaker 1: It's just not the right guy at that. I know
- 13:59Speaker 1: that they're out of options at that point.
- 14:01Speaker 3: I said if you would have told people, Brewers fans,
- 14:03Speaker 3: that they would have had Drohan– Closing out the World Series,
- 14:07Speaker 3: they would have said, are you absolutely out of your
- 14:09Speaker 3: freaking mind? There's no chance that they would have done it.
- 14:12Speaker 3: And there they were in that situation trying to get
- 14:15Speaker 3: it done. And I'll get– listen, the ball Hicks hit was–
- 14:17Speaker 3: if they're not– if that ball is hit two feet
- 14:19Speaker 3: to the– let's see, to the right, that's a double
- 14:22Speaker 3: play and they win the World Series and they're going crazy.
- 14:24Speaker 3: They're still partying in Milwaukee. So, I mean, you know,
- 14:27Speaker 3: he got some ground balls. It wasn't a ton of
- 14:29Speaker 3: hard contact, but they got the hits when they needed it. Yep.
- 14:33Speaker 1: And let's keep this going. Kurt Hogue is standing by
- 14:35Speaker 1: and he's at the, or he's been at the ballpark,
- 14:37Speaker 1: obviously covering the Brewers for every single game all year.
- 14:40Speaker 1: So he's going to join us next on FT. We'll
- 14:43Speaker 1: keep this going on the Brewers discussion and also a
- 14:46Speaker 1: shout out to Fox one sponsoring us really, you know,
- 14:49Speaker 1: throughout the season, but especially during the post season, this
- 14:52Speaker 1: is kind of your final reminder here. This could be
- 14:54Speaker 1: the last game tonight. And if you're looking for a
- 14:56Speaker 1: spot and you don't have cable, Uh, even if you
- 14:58Speaker 1: do Fox one's the spot at home or on the
- 15:01Speaker 1: go live or on demand, never miss a moment. You
- 15:03Speaker 1: can stream right now, or you can get a little
- 15:04Speaker 1: free day, a three day free trial today at Fox one.com. Hey,
- 15:09Speaker 1: did you guys see this moment from Contreras? One of
- 15:13Speaker 1: my favorite moments, maybe of the year, uh, pitching Ninja tweeted.
- 15:17Speaker 1: Don't make me unleash this challenge on you. Contreras put
- 15:20Speaker 1: his hand above his head. I'm describing this for the
- 15:22Speaker 1: podcast crowd as if he was going to challenge. If
- 15:25Speaker 1: it wasn't called a strike, and the pitch was called
- 15:27Speaker 1: a strike to Caminero. AJ, that is wizardry.
- 15:32Speaker 3: Dude, he does this all the time. If you've watched
- 15:34Speaker 3: a Brewers game at all, he does it all the time.
- 15:37Speaker 3: There's so many pitches where he does that over his hand,
- 15:39Speaker 3: over his head, and then he throws it back. It
- 15:41Speaker 3: just becomes part of his motion. He does it all
- 15:44Speaker 3: the time. Watch the game, and he'll catch a ball,
- 15:46Speaker 3: and he'll be like– Oh, it's a strike. Okay, you've
- 15:49Speaker 3: seen it. Sometimes he pump fakes the umpires because he'll
- 15:51Speaker 3: go and he'll fix the back of his hat like
- 15:53Speaker 3: this and then they don't challenge it. I'm like, oh, no,
- 15:56Speaker 3: he's just faking everybody out. I love it. Use it.
- 16:03Speaker 3: Abuse it. Figure it out.
- 16:05Speaker 2: He's hot with it. It's another aspect to be hot
- 16:08Speaker 2: in the World Series.
- 16:10Speaker 1: He's like the uncle that does like up high, up low,
- 16:12Speaker 1: like too slow, like umpire challenge, like just kidding, not challenging.
- 16:19Speaker 1: It's good. But yeah, he's been so good at it
- 16:21Speaker 1: and he's, he's won the most challenges overall in the
- 16:24Speaker 1: first year of the system. I got to tell you,
- 16:27Speaker 1: I know there were a million challenges last night and
- 16:29Speaker 1: you want the ump to be better and not have
- 16:32Speaker 1: so many wrong calls, but also it's a fun wrinkle.
- 16:35Speaker 1: Every time they do it, I enjoy it. Yes. It
- 16:37Speaker 1: was not the Most glorious day for James Hoyt. It
- 16:39Speaker 1: wasn't terrible. It just wasn't World Series quality. Is that
- 16:43Speaker 1: the way to put it?
- 16:44Speaker 3: It was a little. Being at the ballpark, it seemed
- 16:46Speaker 3: like every pitch was challenged. I know it wasn't, but
- 16:50Speaker 3: it literally seemed like it was. That's why I remember
- 16:53Speaker 3: texting you guys saying, how many challenges has there been?
- 16:55Speaker 3: Because they don't keep a track on the scoreboard of
- 16:57Speaker 3: how many they've had successful. It just seemed like almost
- 17:00Speaker 3: every half inning, if somebody was going like this and
- 17:02Speaker 3: James Hoyt was coming out from behind, Catcher's challenging, and oh, man,
- 17:06Speaker 3: the umpire's wrong again, so you got to cheer from
- 17:07Speaker 3: one side or the other. It was like, damn, he
- 17:09Speaker 3: had a rough night. But then looking at the scoreboard,
- 17:12Speaker 3: he wasn't that bad. I mean, he wasn't great, but
- 17:13Speaker 3: he wasn't awful.
- 17:15Speaker 2: If you eliminate some of those, if you eliminate some
- 17:18Speaker 2: of the challenges in extras where it was just like, bro,
- 17:22Speaker 2: we got one out left in the bottom of the night.
- 17:24Speaker 3: Like, we're just going.
- 17:25Speaker 2: He had gotten one confirmed up until extra innings. So
- 17:33Speaker 2: it wasn't a good showing from James, especially after he
- 17:38Speaker 2: was the same umpire that called that check swing.
- 17:40Speaker 3: So all eyes were on you.
- 17:42Speaker 1: Yeah, but in extras, how many were there? Like probably four.
- 17:45Speaker 1: So there were 11 total. Three? Okay, so there was
- 17:48Speaker 1: eight in nine innings.
- 17:50Speaker 3: They were firing him, though. They were firing him because
- 17:53Speaker 3: they just wanted to use him.
- 17:54Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 17:55Speaker 3: Hicks used one that wasn't even on the board.
- 18:00Speaker 1: Milwaukee Journal Sentinel beat reporter Kurt Hogue joining us right now.
- 18:04Speaker 1: It looks like a beautiful day. I mean, he's really
- 18:06Speaker 1: suffering down in Florida.
- 18:09Speaker 3: Yeah, it's nice. Yeah, it is nice.
- 18:11Speaker 1: Kurt, good to see you, dude. I want to go
- 18:13Speaker 1: forwards before we go backwards if I can, and that'll
- 18:16Speaker 1: kind of play into the pitching plan once we talk
- 18:18Speaker 1: about game four. But I just wanted to actually start
- 18:20Speaker 1: here because I do think you can speak to this
- 18:23Speaker 1: as well as anyone. how do you think the Miz
- 18:25Speaker 1: is going to perform in this next one? He's been good,
- 18:27Speaker 1: obviously from a run prevention standpoint, he's got a two
- 18:29Speaker 1: seven OER Ray, but like I was reading some stuff from,
- 18:32Speaker 1: you know, Cyrus this morning, he said, lost his slider
- 18:34Speaker 1: command in the playoffs, putting more pressure on his fastball.
- 18:37Speaker 1: So do you agree with that? And anything else that
- 18:40Speaker 1: we should know? Also, can he fix that in time
- 18:43Speaker 1: for the next one? Not saying like he's been bad,
- 18:45Speaker 1: but I mean, are we going to get potentially five
- 18:47Speaker 1: innings of shutout ball for Miz or even six?
- 18:51Speaker 5: I mean, you never know what, the adrenaline junkie Miz
- 18:54Speaker 5: is going to have out there, but it feels like
- 18:57Speaker 5: in this start specifically, it's going to have to be
- 19:01Speaker 5: his ability to pitch, which we've seen develop over the.
- 19:04Speaker 3: Course of the season. He's going to have to have
- 19:06Speaker 3: that he's.
- 19:07Speaker 5: Pitching on four days rest, which like, yeah, you know,
- 19:10Speaker 5: in a lot of cases, that's pretty normal, but he's
- 19:12Speaker 5: also not done that in a long time. They've given
- 19:15Speaker 5: him these five days. And in the post season, it's been,
- 19:17Speaker 5: it's been more than that. He's gotten a week or
- 19:18Speaker 5: a week or more. in every single start and that
- 19:21Speaker 5: still hasn't even been enough to like make his stuff
- 19:24Speaker 5: great the fastball vert's been down um it was a
- 19:26Speaker 5: little better like his stuff his best stuff in the
- 19:29Speaker 5: postseason was this last outing against the rays um but
- 19:33Speaker 5: the fastball lifts haven't really been there um and it's
- 19:37Speaker 5: led to some difficulties and like some challenges and trying
- 19:41Speaker 5: to find what that next pitch is going to be
- 19:44Speaker 5: whether it's the curveball um he went to the cutter
- 19:47Speaker 5: more in that last start if he can find that
- 19:50Speaker 5: slider command again that would be that would be huge
- 19:54Speaker 5: because he's like he's not been bad i mean his
- 19:56Speaker 5: his numbers are good he just hasn't been able to
- 19:58Speaker 5: pitch super deep into games right there you know 270
- 20:01Speaker 5: era in the postseason you'll take that from your uh
- 20:04Speaker 5: from your ace but Yeah.
- 20:07Speaker 3: This could be the moment, though.
- 20:09Speaker 5: I'm not going to rule it out where Brewers could
- 20:11Speaker 5: win the World Series and Miz just has the 102.
- 20:16Speaker 3: More regularly, but we just haven't seen it yet.
- 20:18Speaker 5: So I'm not assuming that's just going to be able
- 20:22Speaker 5: to happen because he's pumped up.
- 20:26Speaker 3: All right, so my question is, Kurt, is Miz tired?
- 20:29Speaker 3: Because you said he's not going to be able to
- 20:31Speaker 3: find maybe that thing. And then how good is he
- 20:33Speaker 3: at making adjustments? You said, I don't know that he
- 20:36Speaker 3: can change this or that. So then does that fall
- 20:38Speaker 3: on Contreras to make an adjustment on what the secondary
- 20:41Speaker 3: pitch they call is? Is it call on whoever it
- 20:43Speaker 3: is that flashes the numbers over there, the catching guy?
- 20:48Speaker 3: Who is that? Is it on Murph? Is it on Hookie,
- 20:50Speaker 3: the pitching coach, to go and say, hey, the slider's
- 20:53Speaker 3: not there. We need to go to the curveball or
- 20:54Speaker 3: we need to go to the cutter?
- 20:56Speaker 5: I think at this point, it's on William Contreras. In
- 21:00Speaker 5: this postseason, they have given him the full reins. There's
- 21:05Speaker 5: still the in-between inning discussion and discourse, and Chris Hook's
- 21:09Speaker 5: involved in that as well. And if he sees something,
- 21:11Speaker 5: of course he's going to say something. But they are
- 21:13Speaker 5: putting so much on William Contreras in terms of the
- 21:16Speaker 5: pitch calling, the game planning. Obviously, he's challenging like a
- 21:21Speaker 5: fiend like you guys were just talking about. he's one
- 21:25Speaker 5: of those guys that does have the ability to dial
- 21:27Speaker 5: it up at a certain point in the postseason when
- 21:30Speaker 5: his focus is at a high. He does play at
- 21:33Speaker 5: a different level. So, yeah, I think that's what it's
- 21:37Speaker 5: going to have to come down to. If it's early
- 21:39Speaker 5: and it's like, okay, well, maybe the fastball is not
- 21:43Speaker 5: as incredible as it could possibly be, then what do
- 21:46Speaker 5: we go to here? It is interesting, though, because in
- 21:49Speaker 5: these last couple starts, Miz has made it a point
- 21:52Speaker 5: to stick with the fastball. These other teams are doing
- 21:56Speaker 5: a good job of spoiling pitches and putting things in
- 22:00Speaker 5: play and sacrificing some slug to get his pitch count up.
- 22:04Speaker 5: But after that Padres start in the NLDS, he's been
- 22:07Speaker 5: more convicted in sticking with the heater.
- 22:11Speaker 2: Is there a case where they have to drag Miz
- 22:14Speaker 2: a little bit longer because of how they tried to
- 22:17Speaker 2: get that win last night because you're not going to
- 22:20Speaker 2: get two to three innings out of Ashby. I mean,
- 22:23Speaker 2: I guess you can, but, and it seems, well, we'll
- 22:26Speaker 2: get to McGill, but it just, do they feel like
- 22:28Speaker 2: they need to drag a little bit more out of
- 22:30Speaker 2: the Miz tonight?
- 22:32Speaker 3: I think so.
- 22:32Speaker 5: We saw him dive after two turns through the order
- 22:36Speaker 5: last time. Their whole bullpen was rested, and it made
- 22:38Speaker 5: a lot of sense in that spot.
- 22:40Speaker 3: You need 12 outs. You got Uribe, you got Ashby,
- 22:42Speaker 3: you got McGill. Easy. Tonight, I don't know if you
- 22:45Speaker 3: have 12.
- 22:46Speaker 5: Outs out of those guys after Uribe went two, Ashby
- 22:49Speaker 5: went two and a third, McGill... you know, McGill might
- 22:53Speaker 5: have multiple ups in there, but he's also not a
- 22:55Speaker 5: multiple ups guy for the most part. They, they might
- 22:57Speaker 5: make him do it tonight if that's what it calls for.
- 22:59Speaker 5: But yeah, I, I could absolutely see, um, them letting
- 23:04Speaker 5: him ride a little more into the game, but also
- 23:07Speaker 5: he's three starts into this post season and, and he
- 23:10Speaker 5: hasn't gone deep as a product of the other team,
- 23:14Speaker 5: just making life harder on him and raising his pitch gun.
- 23:17Speaker 5: I mean, he was at 80 something pitches. It's not
- 23:18Speaker 5: like they took him out at five innings and 60 pitches. Um,
- 23:21Speaker 5: The stuff was declining a little bit, but yeah, absolutely tonight.
- 23:24Speaker 5: We've got a few options back there.
- 23:26Speaker 3: DL's available. JoJo Romero should be available.
- 23:30Speaker 5: So they have some guys for those lefties, but I
- 23:34Speaker 5: can absolutely see them riding their guy tonight.
- 23:38Speaker 3: Kurt, you know what happened in that San Diego series?
- 23:41Speaker 3: I remember Miz had a talk with a partner of mine,
- 23:44Speaker 3: and he said, dude, you still throw 103. You can
- 23:45Speaker 3: throw 103 because if you remember– In that Padres series,
- 23:49Speaker 3: they hit all the balls that were 95 to 91,
- 23:53Speaker 3: and then 105 they weren't hitting, and then when he
- 23:55Speaker 3: threw the curveball, they weren't hitting it. So there was
- 23:57Speaker 3: a guy who was a partner of mine. I think
- 23:58Speaker 3: his name was Adam Wainwright. I remember I had a
- 24:00Speaker 3: talk with Miz. I was like, dude, you're still throwing 105.
- 24:02Speaker 3: And since then, he's done it, and it's been really effective,
- 24:06Speaker 3: especially early in the game. So I don't know if
- 24:08Speaker 3: that's what changed Miz's mindset, but maybe something to write about, Curt,
- 24:12Speaker 3: in your next article if Miz goes out and clears
- 24:14Speaker 3: it up. Give Adam Wainwright all the credit.
- 24:15Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 24:17Speaker 5: That's what we do here. We'll give Adam Wainwright all
- 24:19Speaker 5: the credit. Adam Wainwright has long been a Brewers fan favorite.
- 24:24Speaker 3: Oh, he loves it. Yes, he loves the Brewers. Loves
- 24:27Speaker 3: the Brewers, and they love him.
- 24:29Speaker 5: The secret to the Brewers winning a World Series was, wait,
- 24:31Speaker 5: Adam Wainwright?
- 24:33Speaker 3: I'll take this.
- 24:34Speaker 5: I'll give you a shout out, too, when I write this.
- 24:38Speaker 3: How about that? That's fair.
- 24:39Speaker 2: That's all I ask for. Love that from you, Kurt.
- 24:41Speaker 2: I love some extra trolling during the World Series.
- 24:44Speaker 4: Hi, Max the Bald Eagle from Marathon here. We asked
- 24:47Speaker 4: people if they could do an impression of me.
- 24:49Speaker 3: Have a listen.
- 25:02Speaker 1: You can save up to a dollar a gallon with
- 25:03Speaker 1: the Marathon Rewards app.
- 25:07Speaker 3: That last one was pretty good.

- 25:12Speaker 3: Terms and conditions apply. See MarathonRewards.com for details.
- 25:14Speaker 2: My question to you is McGill. Does everything go with
- 25:17Speaker 2: McGill because of the fact that there's ironic... And I
- 25:22Speaker 2: haven't disagreed, but now that there's a full package of
- 25:27Speaker 2: no back-to-backs, a full package of... hey, you could have
- 25:32Speaker 2: used McGill two out of the last six games, and
- 25:36Speaker 2: they didn't. And then last night, the one batter, is
- 25:43Speaker 2: everything okay with McGill, or have you not asked?
- 25:46Speaker 5: There's no sign that anything is wrong with McGill at all.
- 25:51Speaker 5: The usage, I agree, Pratsy, has been fascinating. He's been
- 25:56Speaker 5: up a lot for back-to-backs, and it just has played out,
- 25:59Speaker 5: I think, that those have largely been the games where like, Oh,
- 26:03Speaker 5: Ashby's rolling. I think there's been like three or four
- 26:05Speaker 5: of those games this post season where Murph's just like, yeah,
- 26:09Speaker 5: we're not taking this freight train out at this point,
- 26:11Speaker 5: but McGill's been fully hot and it's been batter to batter. So,
- 26:14Speaker 5: so that, that is, that is one.
- 26:16Speaker 3: Side of it.
- 26:17Speaker 5: But last night, I think that might have been the movie.
- 26:20Speaker 5: You know, if you want to hindsight and you want
- 26:21Speaker 5: to armchair manage, that's probably the move that costs them is,
- 26:27Speaker 5: is McGill for one batter. I think it, in the
- 26:30Speaker 5: moment there was, there was an argument for it. The two,
- 26:34Speaker 5: two out of the next three hitters were lefties, um,
- 26:36Speaker 5: in the ninth it's Aaron Ashby. He can get you
- 26:39Speaker 5: multiple innings. Um, you don't expect the game to go
- 26:43Speaker 5: to 12 innings, but also you kind of, but in
- 26:46Speaker 5: the back of your mind, right. You kind of also
- 26:48Speaker 5: have to manage as if it is going to go
- 26:51Speaker 5: like 15 innings. Um, and in that case, yeah, I
- 26:55Speaker 5: think you could have gotten two or three more hitters
- 26:57Speaker 5: out of McGill.
- 26:58Speaker 3: Um, for sure.
- 27:00Speaker 5: But then again, that would have been another up and
- 27:03Speaker 5: that's not something he does a whole lot.
- 27:07Speaker 3: Well, Kurt, there's a couple of things on this one.
- 27:09Speaker 3: Why does it matter? I mean, McGill's been dominant against everybody, right?
- 27:12Speaker 3: He's lefty. It shouldn't have mattered. Um, go get, let
- 27:15Speaker 3: him get another inning. Muzat asked you back another inning. Uh,
- 27:18Speaker 3: and he hasn't given up. He's given up one, one
- 27:20Speaker 3: home run the entire season. So it's not like, you're
- 27:24Speaker 3: worried about him going deep. That's why I argue the
- 27:27Speaker 3: same thing you're arguing, but again, he's the closer. Most
- 27:29Speaker 3: closers dominate righties and lefties.
- 27:31Speaker 5: Yeah, I thought it was unusual in the moment that
- 27:34Speaker 5: McGill was used for one hitter. You got a chance
- 27:36Speaker 5: to close out the World Series, and you want more
- 27:41Speaker 5: outside of your best pitchers, and even if he's Not
- 27:45Speaker 5: throwing 100, 101. He's still pitching really well right now
- 27:50Speaker 5: and has for the last six months.
- 27:52Speaker 3: So I think I agree with you on that one.
- 27:56Speaker 5: In the moment, it was sort of like, this is odd.
- 27:59Speaker 3: And then.
- 28:01Speaker 5: Sure would have liked having Aaron Ashby out for the 12th.
- 28:05Speaker 3: Yeah, and then that leads me to Drohan. Drohan's pitched
- 28:08Speaker 3: one inning in a month, and now he's out there
- 28:10Speaker 3: basically with the World Series on the line. Was that
- 28:12Speaker 3: fair to him? Was there nobody else they could have
- 28:14Speaker 3: used in that situation? I know they were kind of
- 28:16Speaker 3: getting down to the nitty-gritty down there. He didn't want
- 28:18Speaker 3: to use Miz.
- 28:19Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 28:20Speaker 3: Was that fair to put Drohan in that situation? Hey,
- 28:22Speaker 3: the World Series on the line, by the way, he's
- 28:24Speaker 3: thrown one inning in a month.
- 28:26Speaker 5: Well, who else are you going to use in that spot?
- 28:30Speaker 5: I don't know, Kurt.
- 28:30Speaker 3: You're Mr.
- 28:31Speaker 1: Brewer.
- 28:33Speaker 3: You're a curdy brewer, you tell me.
- 28:37Speaker 5: In hindsight, I guess Sensatele could have stayed in the game,
- 28:39Speaker 5: but I think it also made sense to make that
- 28:42Speaker 5: move in that spot. Kyle Harrison's the other guy in
- 28:44Speaker 5: the bullpen, and guess when the last time he pitched was?
- 28:47Speaker 3: Even longer ago. He hasn't pitched in a month. Yeah.
- 28:52Speaker 5: There's like a stuff argument for Kyle Harrison in that moment.
- 28:58Speaker 5: I think there's more trust in Drone than Harrison from Murph,
- 29:01Speaker 5: but that, I mean, you're just not in a great
- 29:07Speaker 5: spot if you're the Brewers trying to pick someone for that.
- 29:10Speaker 5: Because it's like, well, here's a rookie who hasn't pitched
- 29:12Speaker 5: in a month, or here's a guy who's basically a
- 29:15Speaker 5: rookie who also hasn't pitched in a month and had
- 29:18Speaker 5: terrible results to finish the season, if you want to
- 29:20Speaker 5: go to the lefties. Or you stick with Senzatella, who
- 29:22Speaker 5: threw two innings the night before, and his stuff was
- 29:25Speaker 5: starting to trend down.
- 29:26Speaker 3: So, tough spot.
- 29:29Speaker 5: You could have gone to Miz, but, man, that's... That
- 29:34Speaker 5: would have taken some balls.
- 29:37Speaker 2: Are they never going to pitch Kyle Harrison? I'm just asking.
- 29:41Speaker 2: It shouldn't come up.
- 29:42Speaker 3: Yeah, dude, I don't know, man.
- 29:43Speaker 5: I thought if you're up 10-0. I sent Satella for
- 29:47Speaker 5: an inning there, I guess. But I think if you
- 29:50Speaker 5: want to really go back in time, Kyle Harrison could
- 29:54Speaker 5: have given you two there. And even if he gives
- 29:56Speaker 5: up three runs, you can then still use, like, Senzatella, Drohan,
- 30:03Speaker 5: if you want. Those deal haul, those secondary guys, it'll
- 30:07Speaker 5: still probably avoid your big guns in game three. So
- 30:13Speaker 5: he's here for a reason. I think the reason is
- 30:17Speaker 5: if the game goes 16 innings. I just don't see
- 30:19Speaker 5: a way he's really going to get into a game
- 30:21Speaker 5: unless it's down 10 or it goes until 3 a.m.
- 30:27Speaker 3: By the way, then he shouldn't be on the roster,
- 30:29Speaker 3: but that's a whole different argument we can have. I'm
- 30:31Speaker 3: sure they can find– I don't know. Again, that's a
- 30:33Speaker 3: whole different argument. They could use Harrison maybe instead of
- 30:35Speaker 3: Brandon Woodruff. In game three, you know, we can go
- 30:39Speaker 3: pitching and pitching. I have a position player question. Joey
- 30:44Speaker 3: Ortiz made the error last night. Obviously, they don't remember.
- 30:48Speaker 3: And the Brewers, I don't want to say lost faith
- 30:51Speaker 3: in him for a while, but, you know, Hamilton's kind
- 30:53Speaker 3: of taken over that spot for the most part at
- 30:55Speaker 3: third base. Joey Ortiz gets put in that situation, but
- 30:58Speaker 3: my thing is they used Andrew Vaughn. Cooper Pratt was
- 31:03Speaker 3: on first. They burn Andrew Vaughn with two outs, okay?
- 31:07Speaker 3: Then Cooper Pratt gets thrown out stealing when Andrew Vaughn's
- 31:13Speaker 3: at bat, so then you have to put Ortiz in
- 31:15Speaker 3: the game. Is that a situation where you say, Pratt,
- 31:17Speaker 3: don't steal? You have to 1 million, billion, trillion percent
- 31:21Speaker 3: make it because you just wasted Andrew Vaughn or you
- 31:24Speaker 3: just saying, well, if he gets caught, he gets caught,
- 31:26Speaker 3: and then Andrew Vaughn's out of the game. I think, no,
- 31:30Speaker 3: it's the Brewers.
- 31:30Speaker 5: They're chasing the way they play. I don't think they
- 31:34Speaker 5: can deviate from their style in that moment. I mean,
- 31:38Speaker 5: Cooper Pratt was like, what, a millimeter from being safe?
- 31:43Speaker 5: The glove barely got his oven mitt. Maybe if he's
- 31:46Speaker 5: not wearing any protective gear, it misses his hand completely.
- 31:48Speaker 3: So it is... It's tough for Andrew Vaughn.
- 31:52Speaker 5: It's like emblematic of his entire postseason. Finally gets into
- 31:56Speaker 5: a game, huge spot, chance to be a hero, sees
- 31:58Speaker 5: like two pitches, doesn't get to swing the bat, and
- 32:02Speaker 5: his day is done. That sort of sums up his
- 32:05Speaker 5: postseason in a nutshell where he's just kind of waiting
- 32:08Speaker 5: for his moment and isn't getting it. But yeah, that
- 32:13Speaker 5: was tough.
- 32:14Speaker 3: That was a tough moment for them.
- 32:16Speaker 5: And then, I mean, you expect Joey Ortiz to make
- 32:19Speaker 5: that play. And he had a bad throw as soon
- 32:21Speaker 5: as he came into the game. I think it was
- 32:22Speaker 5: the bottom of the ninth. So between his offense, you know,
- 32:27Speaker 5: it was great to end the year. But he's looked
- 32:29Speaker 5: off at the plate. And his defense has seemed.
- 32:32Speaker 3: A little bit off, too. So tough. It's just a
- 32:37Speaker 3: tough night overall in every way. Joey's shoulders.
- 32:40Speaker 2: Probably not 100% either, but that's neither here nor there. Kurt,
- 32:44Speaker 2: do you know how many times a series has gone
- 32:47Speaker 2: 3-0 in the World Series and then Game 4 was
- 32:51Speaker 2: won by the team that was down 3-0?
- 32:57Speaker 3: Wasn't it like a quarter of the time? Four times. Yep,
- 33:01Speaker 3: four times.
- 33:01Speaker 2: And do you know how many times it's gone to
- 33:03Speaker 2: a Game 6?
- 33:06Speaker 3: I think I saw it was zero. Zero.
- 33:08Speaker 1: Zero.
- 33:09Speaker 3: I almost didn't believe that. That's crazy.
- 33:13Speaker 2: So how do the Brewers come back from this if
- 33:17Speaker 2: it goes to a game six? If it doesn't go
- 33:21Speaker 2: the way because maybe the bullpen's a little taxed, maybe
- 33:23Speaker 2: Miz gives them four and they needed five and two-thirds
- 33:27Speaker 2: out of them. Is this a little bit more of
- 33:31Speaker 2: a nervous situation than– the Brewers have ever been in.
- 33:36Speaker 2: Even though, you know, if they don't sweep the Dodgers, oh,
- 33:38Speaker 2: we've got to face Scooble and Yamamoto, and oh, no,
- 33:41Speaker 2: you know, you can create the doomsday, but how is
- 33:44Speaker 2: that for the Brewers here in this situation?
- 33:47Speaker 5: Well, if they lose tonight, which, look, I guess the
- 33:50Speaker 5: answer kind of for game five is the same as
- 33:52Speaker 5: if it goes to game six. This has been the
- 33:55Speaker 5: best team in baseball all year. They have bounced back.
- 33:58Speaker 3: Really, really well. They've been really consistent. Their offense, the
- 34:03Speaker 3: way it operates.
- 34:04Speaker 5: it gives you like a pretty good feeling every night
- 34:08Speaker 5: that they can at least grind something out. And last
- 34:12Speaker 5: night their offense was, I thought their offense was like
- 34:14Speaker 5: great for six or seven innings. They were just hitting
- 34:18Speaker 5: a hundred mile an hour snot rockets, right? I guess
- 34:20Speaker 5: they had eight outs at a hundred plus miles an
- 34:22Speaker 5: hour through 10 innings. So that was pretty, pretty indicative
- 34:25Speaker 5: of like how unlucky they were.
- 34:26Speaker 3: In that game.
- 34:27Speaker 5: It'll get a little dicey. I mean, there's, there's some tension.
- 34:31Speaker 3: Milwaukee, for sure. They've never won a World Series.
- 34:33Speaker 5: If they can't pull this off tonight, but if they
- 34:36Speaker 5: get back home, they get a day off, I just
- 34:40Speaker 5: have enough sense and trust in this team from what
- 34:44Speaker 5: we've seen over 170 that.
- 34:48Speaker 3: I think they'll be fine. By the way, I know
- 34:54Speaker 3: you're a Brewers reporter and Brewer Territory host, but The
- 34:58Speaker 3: Rays don't have much pitching left either. The Rays pretty
- 35:01Speaker 3: much threw all their pitching at it last night. Let's
- 35:04Speaker 3: not forget that the Rays didn't exactly save something for
- 35:06Speaker 3: tonight either. Yeah, three days rest is hard, man. Like,
- 35:10Speaker 3: guys don't do that anymore. Yeah, you're right. It's tricky.
- 35:14Speaker 3: You're right. You're right. All right, before we let you go,
- 35:16Speaker 3: I know Kratz has a question for you. So real quick,
- 35:19Speaker 3: you and McAlvey, we used to call Kirchen and Rosenthal
- 35:22Speaker 3: the Twin Towers. Are you and McAlvey the new Twin Towers?
- 35:24Speaker 3: Because you guys just– Power and tower over all the
- 35:28Speaker 3: rest of the reporters on the field. So when you
- 35:30Speaker 3: guys look above everybody and you guys just know where
- 35:33Speaker 3: each other are out on the field?
- 35:37Speaker 5: We have the tallest beat in Major League Baseball because
- 35:39Speaker 5: Todd Rosiak is also 6'5.
- 35:41Speaker 3: I want to be very clear about this. I have
- 35:44Speaker 3: them all beat.
- 35:45Speaker 5: But we're the tallest being baseball for sure. And maybe
- 35:49Speaker 5: that's why Murph has given me so much crap this postseason.
- 35:52Speaker 5: Just because, like, we're easy targets because, you know, you
- 35:54Speaker 5: kind of see, like, the foreheads above.
- 35:59Speaker 1: Well, and the Brewers don't like tall guys. I mean,
- 36:00Speaker 1: they like tall pitchers, but they don't like tall position players.
- 36:03Speaker 3: They love their short, short guys. Love the short guys.
- 36:06Speaker 1: You can't get to a high fastball.
- 36:08Speaker 3: Murph. No, I cannot.
- 36:11Speaker 2: Murph thinks that you've just been given everything in life
- 36:13Speaker 2: because you're tall, so he looks– He looks down on you.
- 36:17Speaker 3: Perverb. That is, there is, there is, yes, there is
- 36:20Speaker 3: a tall privilege.
- 36:21Speaker 5: We got to, you got to acknowledge it when you
- 36:22Speaker 5: have it.
- 36:23Speaker 3: Yeah, exactly.
- 36:24Speaker 2: And I love that. You said it with your chest.
- 36:26Speaker 2: Last thing I need you to say with your chest, MVP,
- 36:29Speaker 2: the game's locked up tonight for the Brewers MVP for you.
- 36:33Speaker 3: Of the series. Well, yeah, yeah. Um, not on the season.
- 36:38Speaker 3: I don't know. It was a game five, uh, or
- 36:40Speaker 3: the playoffs. Um, I don't know how much I'm allowed
- 36:44Speaker 3: to give away here. Um, We switched our vote at
- 36:49Speaker 3: the last second last night.
- 36:50Speaker 5: It was a little inside baseball. You've got to put
- 36:53Speaker 5: your vote in early before the end of the game.
- 36:56Speaker 5: But then there was some contingencies of like, well, it
- 36:58Speaker 5: was pretty close. There was like four or five options.
- 37:01Speaker 5: And when Cooper Pratt homered, that's who I switched it to,
- 37:06Speaker 5: was to Cooper Pratt. But it's a whole new start tonight.
- 37:10Speaker 3: It could be Contreras. It could be Churrio.
- 37:12Speaker 5: It's Aaron Ashby throw two innings. Does Miz go shove
- 37:15Speaker 5: for seven innings? Does Cooper Pratt do more? Does Sal Frehlich,
- 37:18Speaker 5: Christian Yelich do more? There's so many options for that
- 37:21Speaker 5: it could be. Churrio's in a great spot right now
- 37:26Speaker 5: as well, though.
- 37:27Speaker 3: He's got 10 hits in four games. He's got 10 hits.
- 37:30Speaker 3: He might not win the MVP. That's crazy. I think he's, yeah,
- 37:34Speaker 3: this is fine.
- 37:35Speaker 5: I don't know if he was going to win it
- 37:36Speaker 5: last night, but he might have entered the day as
- 37:38Speaker 5: the favorite again.
- 37:40Speaker 3: It's a silly process, but we'll see. William Contreras, give
- 37:45Speaker 3: me a break.
- 37:45Speaker 2: Don't come on a catcher's show and don't vote for
- 37:47Speaker 2: the catcher, Kurt. You're short to me right now.
- 37:51Speaker 3: You're short to me. What if I told you that, again,
- 37:54Speaker 3: this is the inside baseball again, but William Contreras was
- 37:57Speaker 3: the vote. Yeah, I get it.
- 37:59Speaker 5: And then Cooper Pratt hit what was going to be
- 38:03Speaker 5: the winning home run for the World Series.
- 38:04Speaker 3: Didn't he have four hits last night?
- 38:05Speaker 5: And it was– Drove in a few. Yeah, that was his– Yeah,
- 38:09Speaker 5: it was his fourth hit. He had the game-winning hit,
- 38:10Speaker 5: I think, in another game. Playoffs are jumbled together, man.
- 38:13Speaker 3: I should know that.
- 38:18Speaker 1: That's good. That means there's some intrigue. So the real
- 38:20Speaker 1: answer is we'll see what happens because somebody that makes
- 38:23Speaker 1: the biggest impact tonight could end up grabbing the award
- 38:26Speaker 1: if it's one of the guys that has performed well, right?
- 38:29Speaker 1: Like a Churrio or a Contreras or a Pratt. We've
- 38:31Speaker 1: got ourselves a little racier. Or if Ashby goes three innings.
- 38:35Speaker 3: They're all in the running. I have no idea who's
- 38:37Speaker 3: going to be.
- 38:38Speaker 4: I like that.
- 38:38Speaker 3: Aaron Ashby goes three innings tonight. He deserves it. That's
- 38:41Speaker 3: all I'm going to say. After what he did. After
- 38:43Speaker 3: what he did last night. If he goes three innings
- 38:45Speaker 3: again tonight, he definitely deserves it. His arm might be, like,
- 38:50Speaker 3: detached after that. But, yeah. Cooked. It's all worth it
- 38:54Speaker 3: for a World Series.
- 38:54Speaker 1: Last thing. Just don't have him Google Brandon Morrow. Don't
- 38:59Speaker 1: let him do that. Okay.
- 39:01Speaker 3: In the future.
- 39:02Speaker 1: The Dodgers abused him. Uh, Kurt, we got to run though,
- 39:06Speaker 1: but awesome conversation. Hope you're enjoying it out there. Get
- 39:08Speaker 1: a little suntan for us. Enjoy the warm weather before
- 39:11Speaker 1: you head back up to Milwaukee and Brewer territory is
- 39:14Speaker 1: thriving right now to Kurt on there with JP and Corey,
- 39:18Speaker 1: Corey and JP handling some postgame show action. And then
- 39:21Speaker 1: a daytime show that they're doing today. That'll come out
- 39:23Speaker 1: with fresh content on the Brewers.
- 39:25Speaker 3: Go check it out.
- 39:27Speaker 1: Hey, Jason Stark with this tweet yesterday after David Haskins, homered.
- 39:30Speaker 1: Regular season, one homer after June 6th from DHAM. And
- 39:34Speaker 1: then in the postseason, two homers in the last five games.
- 39:37Speaker 1: And then they took him out, AJ, for Vaughn, who
- 39:40Speaker 1: didn't end up getting an AB, right? Because the inning ended.
- 39:44Speaker 3: That's what I was talking about.
- 39:45Speaker 1: Also, was it a righty or a lefty when Vaughn
- 39:48Speaker 1: came in?
- 39:49Speaker 3: It was Baker. It was Baker. They brought him in
- 39:51Speaker 3: for Hamilton because Cooper was on first. I think they
- 39:54Speaker 3: wanted to try to get an extra base in and
- 39:55Speaker 3: get the lead with Vaughn and maybe try to take
- 39:58Speaker 3: away his changeup because he was just making all the
- 40:00Speaker 3: lefties look crazy with the changeup. So I think that's
- 40:03Speaker 3: what Murph was thinking. And I literally said to my
- 40:05Speaker 3: buddy who I was sitting next to, I said, there's
- 40:07Speaker 3: no way Pratt steals here because they don't want to
- 40:09Speaker 3: burn Vaughn because they're going to have to use Ortiz.
- 40:11Speaker 3: And then he goes and he gets thrown out. And
- 40:13Speaker 3: then he also had the 10-minute review where no one
- 40:17Speaker 3: could tell. And in the stadium, you could not tell.
- 40:19Speaker 3: It's much clearer when you watch it on TV that
- 40:21Speaker 3: he touched him on the sliding mitt, the oven mitt.
- 40:24Speaker 3: But at the stadium, you could not. I'm sitting there
- 40:26Speaker 3: in the giant Dermatron. I'm like, I don't know if
- 40:28Speaker 3: he touched him. And I kept saying they were going
- 40:30Speaker 3: to call him safe because you couldn't tell. And then
- 40:32Speaker 3: they came back and overturned it and called him out. So, yeah,
- 40:36Speaker 3: it was an interesting play. And, you know, like Kurt said,
- 40:38Speaker 3: they were trying to continue to do it, but it
- 40:41Speaker 3: didn't work out.
- 40:43Speaker 2: You don't steal in that situation, in my opinion. I mean, 100%,
- 40:46Speaker 2: you have to make it. It's just like Victor Mesa
- 40:50Speaker 2: running the third. You can say, oh, it's a bang-bang play.
- 40:54Speaker 3: You can't get out. Sorry.
- 40:56Speaker 2: If he wasn't wearing a sliding mitt, it doesn't matter.
- 40:58Speaker 2: You can't get out there.
- 41:01Speaker 1: Sliding mitts help a lot more than they hurt. The
- 41:03Speaker 1: amount of times that you're like, damn, he made it
- 41:05Speaker 1: by a sliding mitt. But in this case, a little
- 41:08Speaker 1: bit more of a target. Yeah, on TV, it looked
- 41:11Speaker 1: pretty obvious, right? After the first or second replay, Kratzman
- 41:14Speaker 1: were watching. I mean, it was like, oh, yeah, he's...
- 41:17Speaker 1: He's out.
- 41:17Speaker 3: You could not tell in the stadium. You could not
- 41:19Speaker 3: tell because, you know, you just couldn't tell.
- 41:22Speaker 2: But even at home, I mean, you listen to Joe
- 41:27Speaker 2: and then you listen to Smoltz and they both had
- 41:29Speaker 2: differing opinions. So when that happens, it's hard to say
- 41:32Speaker 2: what New York's going to choose.
- 41:34Speaker 1: Here we go, SeatGeek. Talk a few minutes about what
- 41:40Speaker 1: we've seen from the crowds, the tickets, the whole deal.
- 41:42Speaker 1: And Kratz, you know what you start to think about
- 41:46Speaker 1: When a team grabs a game, if we get history
- 41:50Speaker 1: and the Rays do win this one and force a
- 41:52Speaker 1: game six after being down 3-0, the series returns to Milwaukee. Now,
- 41:57Speaker 1: I'm sure you agree with this statement. Part of the
- 41:59Speaker 1: reason why there was such an intense Brewers takeover is
- 42:02Speaker 1: that they took the first two games. And if you're
- 42:04Speaker 1: a Brewers fan and you either want to see them
- 42:07Speaker 1: clinch or you just didn't get to the first two games,
- 42:11Speaker 1: you go down to the trap because you don't think
- 42:13Speaker 1: you're going to get a game six. You might get
- 42:15Speaker 1: a game six. SeatGeek's going to be popping if the
- 42:19Speaker 1: Rays win because Brewers fans, as nervous as they'd be,
- 42:24Speaker 1: want to see or would be happy to see a
- 42:27Speaker 1: clinch in Milwaukee on their home field.
- 42:31Speaker 2: I don't care when you're watching this. I need you
- 42:33Speaker 2: to take this code and make sure you're ready as
- 42:37Speaker 2: soon as game one.
- 42:39Speaker 3: Five is over.
- 42:40Speaker 2: If the Rays are about to win or you think
- 42:42Speaker 2: they're going to win, you need to hop on immediately
- 42:46Speaker 2: and get your 10% off for game six in Milwaukee.
- 42:49Speaker 2: I'll even go out on a limb here because I
- 42:52Speaker 2: know the Brewers fans have traveled well. I want to
- 42:56Speaker 2: see some Rays fans flying up. Go to Chicago, fly
- 42:59Speaker 2: into Chicago, rent a car, go up to Milwaukee. And
- 43:04Speaker 2: as soon as this game's over... hit the link and
- 43:07Speaker 2: get 10% off because you're going to need 10% off
- 43:10Speaker 2: because the prices for game six and or seven in
- 43:13Speaker 2: Milwaukee are going to be steep.
- 43:17Speaker 1: But you can already do it. Here's the thing. I'm
- 43:20Speaker 1: going to go against Kratz's advice and say, if you
- 43:22Speaker 1: have any semblance of going to a game six, do
- 43:25Speaker 1: it now because it comes back to you if you
- 43:26Speaker 1: don't go. Right. So go grab it now. It's going
- 43:30Speaker 1: to go even higher. It's already wild. It's going to
- 43:33Speaker 1: go even wild.
- 43:34Speaker 3: Don't listen to what I said.
- 43:35Speaker 1: Yeah. I mean, do it yesterday. That's the thing. It's
- 43:38Speaker 1: ticking up already because now in Milwaukee, they're going, wait,
- 43:41Speaker 1: are we going to get a potential clinch for a
- 43:44Speaker 1: game six at home? And yeah, I'm not saying that
- 43:46Speaker 1: if we get to a game six, the series is over.
- 43:48Speaker 1: I'm just saying it is going to be an even
- 43:51Speaker 1: hotter ticket than what we saw from games one and
- 43:53Speaker 1: two and games one and two are about as hot
- 43:54Speaker 1: as it gets in baseball. And it's coming from Milwaukee.
- 43:58Speaker 3: It's going to be bigger. Yeah.
- 44:01Speaker 1: You didn't have clinch scenarios in those first two. Now
- 44:04Speaker 1: you do. If it happens, just saying. 10% off any
- 44:08Speaker 1: tickets with promo code TERRITORY10. That includes non-baseball. So if
- 44:12Speaker 1: you're in one of those cities and you're looking for
- 44:13Speaker 1: a thang, SeatGeek is the spot with over 35 million downloads.
- 44:17Speaker 1: It's the number one rated ticketing app. It just makes
- 44:19Speaker 1: it easy. It's convenient. They do it all and they
- 44:24Speaker 1: do it better than the rest. On the record with
- 44:29Speaker 1: Brian Anderson, Rays broadcaster, back with us. Good to see you, Brian.
- 44:32Speaker 1: And I want to I mean, great shirt. I want
- 44:35Speaker 1: to start off with a question about something non-baseball related.
- 44:40Speaker 1: Do you like puzzles?
- 44:43Speaker 4: I do like puzzles.
- 44:45Speaker 3: Okay. Who doesn't like puzzles?
- 44:46Speaker 1: The reason I ask is I'd like you to put
- 44:49Speaker 1: the puzzle together for how the Rays can come back
- 44:54Speaker 1: and make history, right? Because that's the thing is we
- 44:59Speaker 1: don't know what's going to happen, right? But you have
- 45:02Speaker 1: to draw out a pitching plan. So how does this
- 45:05Speaker 1: go over the next few games for the Rays to
- 45:07Speaker 1: do something we've never seen before? You know this team
- 45:09Speaker 1: better than anyone.
- 45:11Speaker 4: Well, here's the thing. I think first and foremost, I'll
- 45:14Speaker 4: be real interested to see what they do tonight. You know,
- 45:17Speaker 4: when Kevin Cash was talking last night about, you know,
- 45:20Speaker 4: they're going to try to protect Drew with the third
- 45:22Speaker 4: surgery and all of the innings and all of those things,
- 45:25Speaker 4: he said, now listen, it's a conversation that will be had.
- 45:29Speaker 4: But they, you know, he's talking about erring on the
- 45:32Speaker 4: side of caution with Drew. Here's the thing. If the
- 45:35Speaker 4: conversation that they're going to have involves Drew, if Drew
- 45:39Speaker 4: gets into that conversation, then he's going to make a case.
- 45:44Speaker 4: He's going to pitch. He's going to pitch. So if
- 45:46Speaker 4: this conversation involves people around Drew and they make a
- 45:50Speaker 4: decision that he is not going to pitch, that's. You know,
- 45:53Speaker 4: that's one thing. But if the conversation involves Drew, he
- 45:56Speaker 4: is going to demand the baseball. That's just the kind
- 45:58Speaker 4: of guy he is. And if he's going to take
- 46:00Speaker 4: the baseball, then he's going to take it as if
- 46:02Speaker 4: it's going to be a regular start and give it
- 46:04Speaker 4: everything he has and then hope that he can get
- 46:06Speaker 4: deeper into the game and allow the bullpen to do
- 46:10Speaker 4: their thing. I think last night, obviously, the focus was
- 46:13Speaker 4: don't get swept. Not on the home field. And they
- 46:16Speaker 4: were able to come back in, you know, extra innings,
- 46:19Speaker 4: bottom of the 12th and piece together an inning and
- 46:21Speaker 4: win that ball game. Now the focus is get it
- 46:25Speaker 4: to Milwaukee, get it to Milwaukee and see if maybe
- 46:28Speaker 4: the pendulum of pressure starts to swing a little bit
- 46:31Speaker 4: towards the Brewers. And so I think to that end,
- 46:35Speaker 4: the Rays are going to do whatever they can. You know,
- 46:37Speaker 4: it's interesting because with Nick Martinez, obviously coming into last
- 46:40Speaker 4: night's game, that's thrown everything into flux. So I'll be
- 46:43Speaker 4: real interested to see what they do tonight or what
- 46:46Speaker 4: the attempt is. And then from there, you'll see it
- 46:51Speaker 4: start to set up if they're able to get it
- 46:53Speaker 4: to a game six and a game seven, how they're
- 46:55Speaker 4: going to handle that. But it all starts tonight with
- 46:58Speaker 4: who's going to take them out at the beginning of
- 46:59Speaker 4: that game.
- 47:01Speaker 2: Did the race change their approach to facing this Brewers
- 47:04Speaker 2: lineup last night? Or did they just get lucky because
- 47:08Speaker 2: they had eight outs? The Brewers had eight outs at
- 47:11Speaker 2: 100 plus miles per hour. So which, based on your face,
- 47:16Speaker 2: for everybody listening on the podcast, he either cringed or
- 47:19Speaker 2: was holding something in.
- 47:21Speaker 3: Which do you think it is?
- 47:23Speaker 4: I don't think that they changed their approach. I think
- 47:26Speaker 4: that I don't want to say lucky, but let's just
- 47:29Speaker 4: say that there were some really hard hit balls that
- 47:32Speaker 4: were great plays were made on. You know, you think
- 47:35Speaker 4: about DeLuca in center field and some of the plays
- 47:38Speaker 4: that he was able to make or balls that he
- 47:40Speaker 4: was able to run down that you're going to do.
- 47:42Speaker 4: But then you had the line drive that he's diving
- 47:44Speaker 4: in towards the infield, making a heck of a play.
- 47:47Speaker 4: That could have been a big issue. How about the
- 47:49Speaker 4: one that Chandler Simpson takes away out at the wall
- 47:51Speaker 4: and left field late on That could have been a
- 47:53Speaker 4: real problem. That could have been a game-ending type of hit,
- 47:57Speaker 4: momentum swing for the Brewers. They may be trying to
- 48:02Speaker 4: change their approach against this Brewer lineup, but I'll tell
- 48:04Speaker 4: you what, that Brewer lineup can grind you down. It
- 48:08Speaker 4: is impressive to see. I was at the last two games,
- 48:12Speaker 4: and just watching them work these at-bats longer at-bats, and
- 48:17Speaker 4: then finding a way to hit the ball hard consistently.
- 48:21Speaker 4: I mean, it really is something that they're showing as
- 48:25Speaker 4: a unit. Still haven't figured out how they're going to
- 48:27Speaker 4: get Jack Centurio out. I mean, that guy barrels everything.
- 48:30Speaker 4: I don't care if it's first pitch of an at-bat.
- 48:32Speaker 4: I don't care if it's pitch 11 or 12. He
- 48:34Speaker 4: has put together some unbelievable at-bats. The bat speed looks
- 48:38Speaker 4: off the charts. and it looks like he's on everything.
- 48:41Speaker 4: So they may be trying to change their approach, but
- 48:45Speaker 4: this Brewer lineup has given them fits. And last night
- 48:47Speaker 4: they benefited from some really, really good defense and some
- 48:50Speaker 4: fortunate balls hit right at guys.
- 48:53Speaker 3: B.A., you pitched. You have to make adjustments.
- 48:56Speaker 2: It's not– and I know the Rays' way is, hey,
- 49:00Speaker 2: we're going to pitch our game. We're going to be middle,
- 49:03Speaker 2: pot of gold, down, change-ups, all the things that you're hearing.
- 49:07Speaker 2: But this team has constantly been hitting the ball to
- 49:10Speaker 2: the opposite field hard. If you are Kyle Snyder, what
- 49:16Speaker 2: is the approach that you say, we got to eliminate that,
- 49:19Speaker 2: just like you got to eliminate Cooper Pratt from hitting
- 49:22Speaker 2: every ball to the poolside, who has not been going
- 49:25Speaker 2: to the opposite field besides that little blooper that was
- 49:27Speaker 2: the game winner. How do you make that adjustment?
- 49:31Speaker 4: Well, I'll tell you what I would do. With all
- 49:33Speaker 4: of those balls that are being hit hard the other way,
- 49:35Speaker 4: and it's kind of gone away from today's game because
- 49:40Speaker 4: the command is not what it once was. A lot
- 49:43Speaker 4: of stuff, a lot of spin, a lot of velocity.
- 49:46Speaker 4: Command is not where it once was. And also willingness
- 49:50Speaker 4: and ability. And what I'm talking about is the willingness
- 49:53Speaker 4: and ability to pitch in. Make somebody uncomfortable. Knock them
- 49:58Speaker 4: back off the plate. Own that inside corner so it's
- 50:01Speaker 4: not so easy to just lean out over and anything
- 50:04Speaker 4: middle of the way, I can just take a line
- 50:06Speaker 4: into right field. That would be the first thing that
- 50:08Speaker 4: I would do is make someone uncomfortable. I mean, pitch
- 50:13Speaker 4: him in. Let him know that you're going to come
- 50:15Speaker 4: in there. I mean, I can remember games where I'd
- 50:17Speaker 4: have a back-to-back against somebody. I remember one time in
- 50:19Speaker 4: particular against Philadelphia. Of Philadelphia, you know, I was a
- 50:24Speaker 4: guy that was down in a way, change up, occasionally
- 50:27Speaker 4: come in to set that pitch up. And Philadelphia was
- 50:29Speaker 4: just wearing me out the other way. Well, we come
- 50:32Speaker 4: around and I'm facing them again five, six days later.
- 50:35Speaker 4: And Damian Miller and I were getting ready for our
- 50:37Speaker 4: pregame meeting. And he said, so let's go over the lineup.
- 50:40Speaker 4: And I said, no, let's not go over the lineup.
- 50:42Speaker 4: Let's do this. From pitch one, we make them aware
- 50:46Speaker 4: of that fastball in. Let's come in and set the
- 50:49Speaker 4: tone that we're going to pitch in. We're going to
- 50:51Speaker 4: pitch aggressive. And all of a sudden that changed the
- 50:53Speaker 4: whole landscape. It was a completely different game that next
- 50:56Speaker 4: time making that adjustment. Is that an adjustment that the
- 50:59Speaker 4: Rays are going to be able to make? Because right now,
- 51:02Speaker 4: and we just got done talking about how this Brewer
- 51:04Speaker 4: lineup and how they piece together these at-bats and they
- 51:07Speaker 4: just grind you down. But you haven't really seen anybody
- 51:11Speaker 4: made to feel uncomfortable. And that's what I would like. Fastballs,
- 51:15Speaker 4: it doesn't mean you have to hit guys. It doesn't
- 51:16Speaker 4: mean you have to even necessarily knock them down, although
- 51:19Speaker 4: that wouldn't hurt. But at least come in, pitch in,
- 51:23Speaker 4: make them aware of that, and then maybe that opens
- 51:25Speaker 4: up and you get more of a reach swing than
- 51:27Speaker 4: a guy that's diving out over and shooting the ball
- 51:30Speaker 4: the other way. So that's what I'd love to see.
- 51:32Speaker 3: Reach it, Brian.
- 51:36Speaker 4: Oh, listen, if I did, like I said, I didn't
- 51:40Speaker 4: blow anybody away with velocity. You all know that. But boy,
- 51:44Speaker 4: oh boy, I had to have that inside corner or
- 51:46Speaker 4: I was going to get worn out going the other way.
- 51:49Speaker 3: Brian, by the way, Freddy Peralta did a first pitch
- 51:52Speaker 3: to Jack Centurio and he went out and got four hits.
- 51:54Speaker 3: So let's be careful what we wish for. Sometimes you
- 51:57Speaker 3: wake dudes up.
- 51:59Speaker 4: No, that's interesting that you say that because I was
- 52:02Speaker 4: thinking about Freddy Peralta. And, you know, when I think
- 52:06Speaker 4: about his best outings, his best outings come when the
- 52:10Speaker 4: misses aren't egregious. I don't think that he was even
- 52:13Speaker 4: trying to do that. And that's what we saw early
- 52:15Speaker 4: on with the Rays where he's missing by a lot.
- 52:18Speaker 4: Then all of a sudden, you know, then, then teams
- 52:21Speaker 4: have a chance to line him up when his misses
- 52:23Speaker 4: are around the fringes. It's a lot better. So I
- 52:26Speaker 4: don't think that he meant to do that, but to
- 52:28Speaker 4: your point, yes, it hasn't worked, but guess what? Nothing
- 52:31Speaker 4: else has worked with Jackson Churio. And if he wasn't
- 52:33Speaker 4: as fleet of foot as he is, I would just say,
- 52:35Speaker 4: pick out a thigh, put them on first and let
- 52:38Speaker 4: him do his thing because swinging the bat right now,
- 52:40Speaker 4: not helping the race.
- 52:42Speaker 3: The guys don't do that anymore, so let's not say
- 52:44Speaker 3: anything that.
- 52:45Speaker 4: Would get us in trouble.
- 52:49Speaker 3: I know. Sorry, I missed the first answer to your question.
- 52:51Speaker 3: Maybe you went over this. What's the path for the
- 52:53Speaker 3: race tonight with their bullpen situation? Nick Martinez pitching was
- 52:59Speaker 3: kind of an interesting choice, right? But now you have
- 53:04Speaker 3: Baker went two, right? Wells went multiple innings. Boozer's pitched
- 53:09Speaker 3: every game. His arm's at some point going to stop working, right?
- 53:12Speaker 3: They don't want to go to Seymour. Clevenger's not an option, really.
- 53:16Speaker 3: They've been scared to kind of go to him. How
- 53:18Speaker 3: can they get nine innings? And who starts this game?
- 53:20Speaker 3: Where do they find nine innings to cover? And God
- 53:22Speaker 3: forbid it goes extras.
- 53:24Speaker 4: Well, yeah, that's the thing. And we were talking about
- 53:27Speaker 4: that before where, you know, Kevin Cash was talking about
- 53:30Speaker 4: Drew Rasmussen, you know, being asked about would he start
- 53:33Speaker 4: this game? And, you know, he said that, you know,
- 53:35Speaker 4: the conversation will be had. But, you know, there was
- 53:37Speaker 4: talk of the third surgery and trying to protect him.
- 53:40Speaker 4: And I said, my first answer was, look, if Drew
- 53:43Speaker 4: is part of that conversation, he's taking the ball. If
- 53:46Speaker 4: you're having the conversation without Drew, then maybe you go
- 53:49Speaker 4: in a different direction. But if you include him, he's
- 53:51Speaker 4: the guy that's going to take the baseball. I mean,
- 53:52Speaker 4: he is an animal. These are the games that he
- 53:54Speaker 4: wants to be in. And if that's what it comes
- 53:56Speaker 4: down to, that's what he's going to insist upon. So
- 53:59Speaker 4: we will see. But outside of that, the one good
- 54:02Speaker 4: thing is, You still got the option of Kevin Kelly
- 54:05Speaker 4: being able to come in. You talked about Brian Baker,
- 54:09Speaker 4: but even in his two innings, he was very efficient.
- 54:12Speaker 4: He was right around 19 or 20 pitches total. He
- 54:15Speaker 4: did a really nice job of being efficient, getting good
- 54:18Speaker 4: work in. I think it's going to be all hands
- 54:21Speaker 4: on deck. I think that That's been the way it
- 54:23Speaker 4: is during the season. That's kind of the resiliency of
- 54:26Speaker 4: this Rays team, and they realize that there is no tomorrow.
- 54:29Speaker 4: Be sore next week. Be sore tomorrow or in a
- 54:32Speaker 4: couple of days, but go out and fight for your
- 54:35Speaker 4: team tonight, and I think that that's what they're going
- 54:37Speaker 4: to do. I can't imagine that anybody would be down.
- 54:40Speaker 4: They may be shying away from certain guys, but I
- 54:43Speaker 4: think that the bullpen that Kevin Ramos wants to align,
- 54:48Speaker 4: I think all of those guys are going to be
- 54:50Speaker 4: more than willing and capable to take the baseball. I
- 54:52Speaker 4: don't think anybody's going to shy away from that. But again,
- 54:55Speaker 4: I want to see who toes the rubber to start
- 54:57Speaker 4: this thing.
- 54:59Speaker 2: Get 27 outs any way you can. Chandler Simpson was
- 55:03Speaker 2: the three hitter in this lineup. I was kind of
- 55:07Speaker 2: against it. Moves down to, I think he was seventh,
- 55:11Speaker 2: or maybe he was sixth, I'm not 100%, but he
- 55:12Speaker 2: was down in the order, and he gets three hits.
- 55:15Speaker 2: I'm not saying it's because he was down in the order,
- 55:18Speaker 2: but do you think Cash looks at it and goes, see,
- 55:20Speaker 2: I told you guys, he was about to get hot,
- 55:23Speaker 2: and moves him back up the order?
- 55:26Speaker 4: You know, I think that there may be something to that.
- 55:28Speaker 4: I think that when you look at Chandler Simpson and
- 55:30Speaker 4: how he profiles, that's the guy you want in the
- 55:33Speaker 4: leadoff spot, right? And maybe, you know, right now they
- 55:37Speaker 4: don't feel like that's a spot that they want to
- 55:39Speaker 4: put him in. I know they've sprinkled him in there
- 55:41Speaker 4: from time to time in the regular season, maybe to
- 55:43Speaker 4: get an idea of how he would handle that spot.
- 55:46Speaker 4: But I think kind of pushing him down the lineup...
- 55:48Speaker 4: where you've got your, you know, that top of the
- 55:51Speaker 4: lineup when we're talking about the, you know, Yandy Diaz,
- 55:53Speaker 4: Jonathan Aranda, Caminero, Hicks. and you almost use Chandler as
- 55:58Speaker 4: a second part of the order, the chaos-providing part of
- 56:02Speaker 4: the order, as kind of their lead-off man, that's where
- 56:06Speaker 4: he has really, really thrived. And so I think that
- 56:09Speaker 4: there is something to that. And also, up in that three-hole,
- 56:12Speaker 4: you understand the initial thought, but then all of a
- 56:14Speaker 4: sudden you've got a guy in front of him that's
- 56:16Speaker 4: not actually tearing it up as far as speed goes.
- 56:19Speaker 4: And that, at times, even if he gets on, if
- 56:22Speaker 4: Aranda gets on, that's going to negate... you know, behind him,
- 56:26Speaker 4: what Chandler can do. So I think that having him
- 56:32Speaker 4: down at that part of the order, that is where
- 56:33Speaker 4: he has done his best work all season. That's where
- 56:37Speaker 4: you get him back to that spot. He has another
- 56:39Speaker 4: big night. I think they're going to ride that out
- 56:41Speaker 4: in the future. Could he be the guy that the
- 56:43Speaker 4: pitcher faces right out of the gate? Absolutely. But right now,
- 56:47Speaker 4: I think he's most comfortable down in the part of
- 56:49Speaker 4: the order that you're talking about.
- 56:51Speaker 3: Speaking of speed demons, Junior Caminero last night was limping
- 56:54Speaker 3: around after that error. And then all of a sudden
- 56:56Speaker 3: he goes first to third right in Jackson Turio's face.
- 56:59Speaker 3: It looks like Chandler Simpson. Is he hurt? Was this a,
- 57:02Speaker 3: I'm setting you guys up? Because then they took him
- 57:04Speaker 3: out of the game and he said he was fine
- 57:06Speaker 3: after the game. But he went from, he went like full,
- 57:10Speaker 3: you know, who was the, Paul Pierce? Was it Paul
- 57:12Speaker 3: Pierce that got wheelchaired off the court and then he
- 57:14Speaker 3: came back on to like the huge ovation? Like Junior Caminero,
- 57:17Speaker 3: you know, rope-a-doped these guys.
- 57:21Speaker 4: Ah, that's the phrase. That's what came to mind. And
- 57:24Speaker 4: we've seen it before with Junior that he can rope
- 57:27Speaker 4: a dope with the best of them. And you're right.
- 57:29Speaker 4: There was a little bit of concern as he was
- 57:31Speaker 4: walking back towards first base when he had a noticeable limp.
- 57:35Speaker 4: And you're like, okay, what could he have done going
- 57:37Speaker 4: down the line trying to catch a replay? I was
- 57:39Speaker 4: at the game, so I really didn't see anything other
- 57:42Speaker 4: than what you're talking about. All of a sudden, a
- 57:44Speaker 4: base hit into left. and he is off to the races.
- 57:47Speaker 4: And there was absolutely nothing wrong with him until he
- 57:50Speaker 4: went in. And, you know, that slide into third, he
- 57:53Speaker 4: went left knee first into the ground before getting to
- 57:56Speaker 4: the bag. So, you know, maybe something popped there, but
- 57:59Speaker 4: I don't doubt at all that Junior's going to be
- 58:01Speaker 4: out there ready to answer the bell because we've seen
- 58:04Speaker 4: it before. And I think that's the best way to
- 58:08Speaker 4: describe it. It was the rope-a-dope, lull you to sleep
- 58:12Speaker 4: a little bit, and then all of a sudden here,
- 58:14Speaker 4: I take that. That was a huge base-running play there
- 58:16Speaker 4: for Caminero, especially with the play happening out in front
- 58:19Speaker 4: of him. But I think he realized, I feel good enough.
- 58:22Speaker 4: I think I can get there, and I've got to
- 58:23Speaker 4: make something happen. So kudos to him.
- 58:26Speaker 2: B.A., you said you were in the stands, right? For
- 58:28Speaker 2: both games or just last night?
- 58:30Speaker 4: Yeah, for both.
- 58:32Speaker 2: How do you feel about so many Brewer fans being
- 58:35Speaker 2: at the Rays' World Series, the first World Series that
- 58:39Speaker 2: they've hosted since 2008, and the away team.
- 58:44Speaker 2: Taking over the state, not taking over, but having a
- 58:47Speaker 2: large portion of the stadium.
- 58:49Speaker 4: Yeah, I, I, yeah, I was not thrilled and I
- 58:52Speaker 4: don't think anybody was thrilled. In fact, last night's game,
- 58:54Speaker 4: I happened to just be sitting next to D D
- 58:56Speaker 4: Wayne stats, my partner. Um, I thought the first night,
- 59:00Speaker 4: obviously Milwaukee was well represented, uh, without question, but I
- 59:04Speaker 4: thought last night it almost felt 55, 45 Milwaukee fans.
- 59:10Speaker 4: that's what it felt like. They were loud. They were boisterous.
- 59:13Speaker 4: And when you would see Milwaukee do something and peek around,
- 59:16Speaker 4: you're like, boy, oh boy, that is a lot of
- 59:19Speaker 4: people that are up and they're making a lot of noise.
- 59:23Speaker 4: So yeah, I don't think it's anything that you want
- 59:27Speaker 4: to see as a Rays fan or pulling for that
- 59:30Speaker 4: particular team. Certainly as a player, you don't want to
- 59:32Speaker 4: see your stadium being Like you said, I don't want
- 59:35Speaker 4: to say taken over, but yeah, you'd like to see
- 59:38Speaker 4: the contingent of visiting fans be a lot fewer, and
- 59:43Speaker 4: it has not been. In fact, in my opinion, from
- 59:46Speaker 4: game three to game four, the contingent of Milwaukee fans grew.
- 59:50Speaker 4: So we'll see what it looks like tonight.
- 59:53Speaker 3: B.A., I was at both games, and you are correct.
- 59:57Speaker 3: Game three was like, okay, there's a ton of, Milwaukee
- 1:00:01Speaker 3: fans here. And then game four last night, I was like, man,
- 1:00:03Speaker 3: is this, are we playing an American family field? I've never,
- 1:00:06Speaker 3: and I tweeted, I've never seen anything like this. And
- 1:00:08Speaker 3: now I'm getting crushed by Tampa fans saying, you know, you're, you're,
- 1:00:11Speaker 3: you don't know what you're talking about. I'm like, it
- 1:00:14Speaker 3: was the craziest. It's the craziest thing I've ever seen.
- 1:00:18Speaker 3: I mean, it was a strike called. It's like a
- 1:00:21Speaker 3: strike called for whoever's pitching for the Brewers and you
- 1:00:23Speaker 3: get a full let's go Brewers chant. And I give
- 1:00:26Speaker 3: the Rays scoreboard. They were trying to do everything they could.
- 1:00:28Speaker 3: They were trying to get everyone to do let's go
- 1:00:30Speaker 3: Rays and the whole deal. But gosh, you could not
- 1:00:33Speaker 3: get the Brewers fans to be quiet. And I don't
- 1:00:37Speaker 3: know how you correct that because what happened, I'm assuming
- 1:00:40Speaker 3: what happened is when the Rays people went down 3-0,
- 1:00:42Speaker 3: they're like, well, I can make a little money if
- 1:00:44Speaker 3: I sell my tickets. And the Brewers fans just swamped
- 1:00:47Speaker 3: the secondary ticket market and bought every ticket up. And
- 1:00:50Speaker 3: it's cheaper to come down and fly to Tampa. Plus,
- 1:00:52Speaker 3: no offense, but if you lived in Milwaukee, wouldn't you
- 1:00:55Speaker 3: rather go watch a World Series game on the beach
- 1:00:57Speaker 3: in Tampa and maybe celebrate it there?
- 1:01:00Speaker 4: Well, a couple of things. Number one, when this series
- 1:01:04Speaker 4: started and you looked at the get-in price, you know,
- 1:01:07Speaker 4: if you're up in Milwaukee, you're saying, wait a minute,
- 1:01:09Speaker 4: for the get-in price up here at American Family Field,
- 1:01:12Speaker 4: I can put together plane tickets, a nice hotel room,
- 1:01:15Speaker 4: get a couple of games worth of tickets down in
- 1:01:18Speaker 4: the Tampa St. Pete area and make a little mini
- 1:01:20Speaker 4: vacation out of it. So to your point, yeah, I
- 1:01:23Speaker 4: think a lot of that happened. And they may have
- 1:01:25Speaker 4: been able to do it cheaper than they would have
- 1:01:27Speaker 4: done up at American Family Field. Here's the other thing.
- 1:01:30Speaker 4: You know, during the regular season until the very end
- 1:01:33Speaker 4: of the season, the third deck wasn't open. So there
- 1:01:37Speaker 4: were no season ticket holders up in the third deck
- 1:01:40Speaker 4: that had any claim to tickets. Those were just opened
- 1:01:43Speaker 4: up for the postseason. So you've got that too. I mean,
- 1:01:48Speaker 4: those were tickets that were not spoken for all season long.
- 1:01:52Speaker 4: And then all of a sudden, of course, you're going
- 1:01:54Speaker 4: to open up the entire stadium, but that's a lot
- 1:01:56Speaker 4: of tickets that are just floating out there. And it
- 1:01:58Speaker 4: seems like the vast majority were picked up by Brewer fans. Yeah.
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: Hey, good for them. They've never won a World Series title.
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: I know the same thing for the Rays, but there's
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: just a different level of hysteria. The Rays were not
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: going to sell out a watch party like the Brewers
- 1:02:11Speaker 1: have been doing. I'm sorry. It's just It's a different
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: level of craziness.
- 1:02:17Speaker 3: The worst part is they took over Ferg's, man. That's
- 1:02:19Speaker 3: where the Braves fans got to fight back. Can't have
- 1:02:22Speaker 3: them taking over Ferg's.
- 1:02:24Speaker 4: Listen, it's one thing, right, to take over the Trop
- 1:02:27Speaker 4: with all the extra tickets, but you're right, not Ferg's.
- 1:02:30Speaker 4: Not Ferg's. That is an iconic establishment. That's got to
- 1:02:34Speaker 4: be Ray Central. That has to be Ray Central. Who knows?
- 1:02:38Speaker 4: Maybe tonight's the night.
- 1:02:39Speaker 1: Yeah, well, Ferg's isn't mad about it.
- 1:02:42Speaker 3: They're too nice.
- 1:02:43Speaker 4: No, they're not mad about it, but hey, listen, this
- 1:02:45Speaker 4: is also, regardless, this is the last game of the
- 1:02:48Speaker 4: year for the Rays at Tropicana Field. So let's hope
- 1:02:52Speaker 4: that the showing reflects that.
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: Well, I was already excited. You've got me even more
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: fired up. Great to have you back on, man. Enjoy it.
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: Good luck to your squad tonight, all right?
- 1:03:02Speaker 4: All right, boys. Thanks once again. Always a pleasure.
- 1:03:05Speaker 1: Thank you. Brian Anderson, Rays TV broadcaster. He's awesome. Go
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: check him out.
- 1:03:10Speaker 6: Warren wasn't having a heart attack. The ambulance drivers, wherever
- 1:03:16Speaker 6: he is, to the ambulance driver out there that was
- 1:03:18Speaker 6: in the back of the ambulance that day, I apologize.
- 1:03:23Speaker 6: It's the first time I've apologized on the record.
- 1:03:26Speaker 3: Because he was telling me, ever? For anything?
- 1:03:30Speaker 6: For that incident. No, this ambulance driver was like, sir,
- 1:03:35Speaker 6: can I have your next of kin? I'm like, bro,
- 1:03:38Speaker 6: next of kin. I'm not going anywhere. You don't need
- 1:03:41Speaker 6: to know my next of kin, okay? Would you like
- 1:03:43Speaker 6: to donate your organs? I'm like, are you shitting me?
- 1:03:47Speaker 3: Did you just ask me that?
- 1:03:48Speaker 6: I said, I don't know about you. I showed him
- 1:03:51Speaker 6: pictures of my kids. I'm like, I don't know about you,
- 1:03:53Speaker 6: but I ain't going anywhere, okay? So just chill down
- 1:03:55Speaker 6: on that thing. He was like dead serious. He was
- 1:03:58Speaker 6: like super ripping my shirt off. They're sticking stuff on me.
- 1:04:03Speaker 4: I was....
- 1:04:06Speaker 6: Making them laugh. Our trainer was there, Scott Berenger at
- 1:04:10Speaker 6: the time, and he was white as a ghost. He
- 1:04:13Speaker 6: didn't know what to think, and I'm just joking with
- 1:04:16Speaker 6: the guy like, what are we doing here? And then
- 1:04:18Speaker 6: I got in the room, and all these people are
- 1:04:20Speaker 6: lined up with these white coats on and gloves, and
- 1:04:23Speaker 6: I'm like, I said, you people are way too serious
- 1:04:27Speaker 6: right now. Whatever you got going on, let's chill out
- 1:04:30Speaker 6: a little bit. This is going to be fine. I'm
- 1:04:32Speaker 6: doing good. That's the last I remember of it. I
- 1:04:39Speaker 6: think they shot something in my, my IV and that
- 1:04:43Speaker 6: was it. But, uh, yeah, I don't know. I don't
- 1:04:45Speaker 6: know if it changed me at all. It, it always
- 1:04:48Speaker 6: does when you think about the seriousness of when you're
- 1:04:52Speaker 6: raising kids, you know what I mean? I got two
- 1:04:54Speaker 6: young ones, so I can't go anywhere yet.
- 1:04:57Speaker 3: You know what I mean?
- 1:04:57Speaker 6: So when those two young ones are at a little
- 1:05:01Speaker 6: better stage, I can, you know, shut the curtain, but
- 1:05:04Speaker 6: it's like, you know, um, The perspective is always there. Remember, man,
- 1:05:10Speaker 6: you are dust and to dust you shall return. All
- 1:05:12Speaker 6: us Catholics, we've heard that, right? It's a good one
- 1:05:15Speaker 6: to live by. I actually might get that tattoo. You
- 1:05:19Speaker 6: know what I mean?
- 1:05:21Speaker 3: Stop getting tattoos, Murph. You're over the tattoo age.
- 1:05:25Speaker 2: But I went back to my text messages from 2020
- 1:05:29Speaker 2: to him.
- 1:05:30Speaker 3: And I was like, geez, Murph. I said, geez, Murph.
- 1:05:35Speaker 3: Heart attack. How are we feeling? He said, I told him,
- 1:05:39Speaker 3: kiss my ass. I'm not going yet. That was it.
- 1:05:43Speaker 3: That was his response.
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: That's really good.
- 1:05:49Speaker 3: Tremendous. You know what's the best part of this? Yeah,
- 1:05:51Speaker 3: by the way, who keeps messages from 2020? They automatically
- 1:05:54Speaker 3: keep it. I delete mine every 30 days. And by
- 1:05:58Speaker 3: the way, I'm glad the national stage is getting this email.
- 1:06:06Speaker 1: All right, we're going to try to build the pitching
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: plan for the Rays, just like Brian Anderson was doing
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: for us, the Brian Anderson Rays broadcaster. So Ken wrote
- 1:06:15Speaker 1: about this, Rosenthal, the Rays game four win left Tampa
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: Bay with a bit of hope and a load of questions.
- 1:06:22Speaker 1: There were some good quotes on there too. Actually, my
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: favorite one on there was Kevin Cash telling Ken about Ashby.
- 1:06:29Speaker 1: He said, I'm totally fine not seeing Ashby for a
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: couple of days. His second inning of work, he threw
- 1:06:34Speaker 1: one end zone pitch, one end zone strike in 14 pitches,
- 1:06:37Speaker 1: but it's so deceptive with that high slot. It looks
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: like a strike coming in all the time. And the
- 1:06:42Speaker 1: rest of the article mostly covers what the Rays are
- 1:06:45Speaker 1: going to do. And AJ, Drew Rasmussen and Nick Martinez
- 1:06:50Speaker 1: both raised their hand and said, I can do whatever
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: the heck you want me to do for game five.
- 1:06:56Speaker 1: How often does a pitcher not say that?
- 1:06:59Speaker 3: Every pitcher says that, but then it's the same thing
- 1:07:01Speaker 3: as the Shohei Otani argument we had. Every pitcher says that,
- 1:07:04Speaker 3: but you also have to be smart as the manager
- 1:07:06Speaker 3: in the front office and say, all right, well, this
- 1:07:07Speaker 3: guy's thrown this, this guy's had this surgery, this guy
- 1:07:09Speaker 3: had this injury history. I get it, man. I really
- 1:07:12Speaker 3: do get it. I just don't know a path for
- 1:07:16Speaker 3: them to figure out nine innings. I mean, first of all,
- 1:07:18Speaker 3: we don't know who's starting, so that's a major problem.
- 1:07:21Speaker 3: But then you start looking at it again. I know B.A.
- 1:07:23Speaker 3: says that, oh– Brian Baker only threw 20 pitches or
- 1:07:29Speaker 3: whatever it was, but still, he's not used to going
- 1:07:32Speaker 3: two innings, so there's something to that. I really just
- 1:07:36Speaker 3: don't know. how they're going to find nine innings. I mean,
- 1:07:39Speaker 3: I'm looking at their Baker, okay, through two innings. Boozer's
- 1:07:41Speaker 3: pitched every game in this series. Clevenger, they're scared to use.
- 1:07:45Speaker 3: Griffin Jack started. He's not available, I don't think. Kevin Kelly, okay, maybe.
- 1:07:48Speaker 3: But when he comes in, they don't miss him. They
- 1:07:50Speaker 3: hit him hard. Nick Martinez threw multiple. Are you going
- 1:07:53Speaker 3: to count on Steven Matz? I guess you have to.
- 1:07:55Speaker 3: Freddie's probably unavailable, right? Rasmussen, you want to use him?
- 1:07:58Speaker 3: You've got to win game six at some point. Ian Seymour,
- 1:08:01Speaker 3: they don't want to put him out there. Tyler Wells
- 1:08:03Speaker 3: threw multiple innings last night. Cole Solcer, okay. I mean,
- 1:08:07Speaker 3: someone's going to have to make a giant step up
- 1:08:10Speaker 3: from where they've– there's their bullpen right there on the screen.
- 1:08:13Speaker 3: Someone's going to have to take a giant step and say,
- 1:08:15Speaker 3: all right, I'm going to go two, three, four innings,
- 1:08:19Speaker 3: whatever it is. I mean, is Steven Matz that guy?
- 1:08:21Speaker 3: You guys think Steven Matz is that guy they're going
- 1:08:22Speaker 3: to count on? Kevin Kelly, I guess? But the Brewers
- 1:08:25Speaker 3: have had good swings off Kevin Kelly.
- 1:08:28Speaker 2: I think it's Steven Matz, and I think they're going
- 1:08:30Speaker 2: to play the right way. I think they're going to
- 1:08:33Speaker 2: hold off as long as they can. with Rasmussen being available.
- 1:08:38Speaker 2: Whether he is or he isn't, I think they're going
- 1:08:40Speaker 2: to hold off as long as they can. I think
- 1:08:43Speaker 2: this should have been Rasmussen's start, which obviously I had
- 1:08:46Speaker 2: said before when they started Nick Martinez, so they've kind
- 1:08:50Speaker 2: of made their bed right now in the spot that
- 1:08:53Speaker 2: they're in, but I think it's Steve and Matz. I
- 1:08:56Speaker 2: think depending on where they're at in the lineup, if
- 1:08:58Speaker 2: Matz can give them one time through, I think they
- 1:09:01Speaker 2: go the extreme opposite of Steve and Matz and go
- 1:09:04Speaker 2: to Kevin Kelly. Because it should be top of the order,
- 1:09:08Speaker 2: more powerful righties, unless it's the pocket with Terang and
- 1:09:14Speaker 2: Yelly in there. I think then they go back up
- 1:09:17Speaker 2: to the righty in Rasmussen. Then I think they go
- 1:09:22Speaker 2: back to the left side with Boozer. I think they're
- 1:09:25Speaker 2: just going to keep giving them different looks and try
- 1:09:27Speaker 2: to do smoke and mirrors to get through this game.
- 1:09:32Speaker 1: Ken didn't mention Freddie P, but what about an inning
- 1:09:34Speaker 1: from Freddie P? Can I get an inning?
- 1:09:37Speaker 3: I mean, you probably can. I mean, gosh, he just
- 1:09:40Speaker 3: threw a day ago. Again, you also have to win
- 1:09:43Speaker 3: two more games. The biggest advantage the Raiders can come
- 1:09:45Speaker 3: up with is they go out and score about nine
- 1:09:47Speaker 3: runs off the Miz in the first inning. And then
- 1:09:49Speaker 3: they're like, okay, we can– put some guys in some
- 1:09:51Speaker 3: situations that aren't as high leverage. The problem is they've
- 1:09:53Speaker 3: been behind. They've been chasing, so they've had to use
- 1:09:56Speaker 3: all their A relievers. I mean, can Freddie P give
- 1:09:58Speaker 3: an inning? Sure, but at some point, yes. I know
- 1:10:00Speaker 3: you have to win game five, but you're going to
- 1:10:02Speaker 3: need someone to pull a Derek Lowe and pitch on
- 1:10:04Speaker 3: two days rest and give you a bunch of innings
- 1:10:05Speaker 3: like the 0-4 Red Sox had. That's the shot you have.
- 1:10:10Speaker 1: Well, a couple things. Nick Martinez can be the new Yamamoto,
- 1:10:14Speaker 1: pitch every day in the World Series. Hey, I will say–
- 1:10:21Speaker 1: Before this one, do you think that Nick Martinez can
- 1:10:23Speaker 1: give him a couple innings here in 35 pitches or whatever, right?
- 1:10:29Speaker 3: I think he's got 20 pitches. Okay. I think 20
- 1:10:31Speaker 3: effective pitches.
- 1:10:34Speaker 1: He's 36. He knows his body. He's bounced around in
- 1:10:38Speaker 1: every spot that you can be in basically as a pitcher.
- 1:10:42Speaker 1: And then the guy who probably has been the most
- 1:10:45Speaker 1: impressive so far for the Rays– has been Griffin Jacks
- 1:10:50Speaker 1: and grass. You can vouch for me. I wanted Jacks
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: to appear in a couple of spots before he ended
- 1:10:55Speaker 1: up pitching right in game four, like for an inning
- 1:10:58Speaker 1: or two before that, but whatever that's done. My point
- 1:11:01Speaker 1: is he's going to, if they somehow win this one,
- 1:11:05Speaker 1: it's not going to be perfect. And let's say they
- 1:11:06Speaker 1: had to use Rasmussen, but Griffin Jacks can factor in
- 1:11:09Speaker 1: nicely to a game six or a game seven too.
- 1:11:11Speaker 1: This is the end. This is the end of your season.
- 1:11:14Speaker 2: Here's why I don't think they went to Griffin Jacks
- 1:11:16Speaker 2: before this. His last, this is what they've been getting
- 1:11:21Speaker 2: out of him. His last pitch count-wise in his last
- 1:11:24Speaker 2: four starts, 67, not including last night, 67, 32, 52, 74,
- 1:11:29Speaker 2: even on down. He hasn't gone over 80 pitches since
- 1:11:34Speaker 2: his last nine starts. So to me, I think they
- 1:11:40Speaker 2: feel like if you're going to throw Griffin Jacks on
- 1:11:43Speaker 2: game two and four, game two in relief, They really
- 1:11:48Speaker 2: don't have a ton of pitches for his start. So
- 1:11:50Speaker 2: I think that's why they stayed away from him, and
- 1:11:53Speaker 2: I think it's going to be the same thing moving forward.
- 1:11:57Speaker 2: He's not like a 100-pitch guy. Not that there's a
- 1:11:59Speaker 2: ton of 100-pitch guys, but they just haven't pushed him
- 1:12:04Speaker 2: too far. Not saying it's going to hurt him or
- 1:12:06Speaker 2: it's going to be a career-ending injury, just more of
- 1:12:08Speaker 2: him getting exhausted and less effective.
- 1:12:11Speaker 1: Yeah, and they're trying to stretch him out. They're going
- 1:12:13Speaker 1: to try and stretch him out even more next year.
- 1:12:15Speaker 1: To be more of a regular starter. They think he
- 1:12:17Speaker 1: can be a top-end starter. He certainly has the pitches
- 1:12:19Speaker 1: and the stuff for it. But he's going to factor in.
- 1:12:23Speaker 1: That's my point. In game six or seven, I think
- 1:12:25Speaker 1: he'll give them.
- 1:12:26Speaker 3: Three, four innings. He's got to get there, though, Scott.
- 1:12:28Speaker 1: I know that. He's got to get there.
- 1:12:30Speaker 3: That's the problem.
- 1:12:31Speaker 1: But my answer was to what you guys are saying.
- 1:12:33Speaker 1: What are you going to do in game six and seven?
- 1:12:34Speaker 1: Screw six and seven. Win five, and then we keep
- 1:12:37Speaker 1: playing this one by one. That's my only point. And, hey,
- 1:12:40Speaker 1: guys start to come back. So, for me, that was
- 1:12:42Speaker 1: my point. Jax can suddenly appear here. Guys, to be realistic,
- 1:12:48Speaker 1: does anybody think that the Rays are winning the World Series?
- 1:12:50Speaker 3: Hell no.
- 1:12:51Speaker 4: Nobody.
- 1:12:51Speaker 3: They would think the old four Red Sox were going
- 1:12:53Speaker 3: to win. Jeremy Myers, Matt at you, Scott. Doug Minkiewicz,
- 1:12:57Speaker 3: Johnny Damon, Trot Nixon.
- 1:12:59Speaker 1: We all knew they were coming back, AJ. Come on.
- 1:13:02Speaker 3: Okay, Scott. You're sitting at home cheering on the Yankees going,
- 1:13:06Speaker 3: I can't believe this past my bedtime and I got
- 1:13:08Speaker 3: to watch this. This is definitely.
- 1:13:11Speaker 1: That was a great moment. Do you think this is
- 1:13:13Speaker 1: the same?
- 1:13:15Speaker 3: No, I think the Brewers are clearly better than the Rays. Sorry,
- 1:13:19Speaker 3: I love the Rays, but I think the Brewers are
- 1:13:20Speaker 3: clearly better than the Rays, and it took some mistakes
- 1:13:23Speaker 3: from the Brewers for the Rays to win a game
- 1:13:26Speaker 3: by one run in 12 innings. And I also think
- 1:13:30Speaker 3: the Brewers are set up like this. We don't have greenies.
- 1:13:34Speaker 3: That's another part of everybody.
- 1:13:35Speaker 4: Not being able to come back.
- 1:13:37Speaker 3: I'm just saying. I'm just saying.
- 1:13:39Speaker 1: That's why I love you and this show. Hey, ratings.
- 1:13:42Speaker 1: Better than most people expected. Double-digit millions. For games one
- 1:13:46Speaker 1: and two. Game one was over 12 million. Game two
- 1:13:48Speaker 1: over close to 11 million. AJ, I think the league
- 1:13:53Speaker 1: has been pleasantly surprised, right? And Fox for that matter.
- 1:13:58Speaker 1: I bet you if their predictions would have been more
- 1:14:01Speaker 1: in the eight range and they've cracked double digits for
- 1:14:04Speaker 1: the smallest TV market and Milwaukee's obviously got baseball fever
- 1:14:09Speaker 1: right now and a raised fan base, that's weird.
- 1:14:14Speaker 3: Weird. That's funny. That's a nice way to put it.
- 1:14:15Speaker 3: Thank you. Yeah, I think they've been very happy. I
- 1:14:18Speaker 3: know the people I talked to yesterday were excited about
- 1:14:20Speaker 3: the numbers that they'd received from games one and two.
- 1:14:23Speaker 3: Basically have all of Milwaukee and all of Wisconsin tuning in.
- 1:14:26Speaker 3: So I think it's great. I mean, you know, again,
- 1:14:29Speaker 3: I talked to a lot of people yesterday. And the
- 1:14:32Speaker 3: biggest message that everybody kept saying was, man, this is
- 1:14:35Speaker 3: going to be a great series. I hope it goes
- 1:14:37Speaker 3: more than four games. Well, now you got five games, right? Because...
- 1:14:41Speaker 3: They just think these two teams play the game the
- 1:14:42Speaker 3: right way. They do a lot of things correctly. They're
- 1:14:44Speaker 3: very similar. And people are rooting for a longer series.
- 1:14:48Speaker 3: And they got to five. So we'll see if they
- 1:14:49Speaker 3: can get to six.
- 1:14:51Speaker 1: Can I make a statement here that I think is funny?
- 1:14:52Speaker 1: Because last year and the year before, you had baseball
- 1:14:56Speaker 1: trying to dunk on basketball. And I was with them
- 1:14:58Speaker 1: a little bit. And then this year, I saw some
- 1:15:01Speaker 1: basketball people on social media being like, see, NBA is
- 1:15:05Speaker 1: worlds ahead. I'm like, yeah, we just had the Knicks
- 1:15:08Speaker 1: winning for the first time in forever. and you're comparing
- 1:15:11Speaker 1: that against the Raisin Brewers, where two years ago we
- 1:15:13Speaker 1: had Yankees-Dodgers. Last year we had a very international ratings boost.
- 1:15:19Speaker 1: When you ask me what's more popular, World Series or
- 1:15:21Speaker 1: the NBA Finals, my answer is which teams are in it.
- 1:15:25Speaker 1: That's the answer. It just depends on the markets. Neither
- 1:15:30Speaker 1: of them are the Super Bowl, but I don't know.
- 1:15:32Speaker 1: Every year you're just.
- 1:15:33Speaker 3: Going to have bad board ranking. Nobody can top the
- 1:15:35Speaker 3: Super Bowl ever because it's the only sport where All
- 1:15:39Speaker 3: 32 teams are– all the players go. I mean, I
- 1:15:43Speaker 3: know we saw some former race players, but Super Bowl,
- 1:15:45Speaker 3: all the players go, all the executives go. Every team
- 1:15:47Speaker 3: is there represented. The Super Bowl is more about a
- 1:15:50Speaker 3: celebration of the sport. The World Series is about trying
- 1:15:52Speaker 3: to hoist that trophy. Not that the Super Bowl isn't,
- 1:15:55Speaker 3: but it's more of a league-wide party for those two
- 1:15:58Speaker 3: weeks than what the World Series is.
- 1:16:01Speaker 1: Yeah, it's a national holiday. The World Series is not
- 1:16:03Speaker 1: a national holiday. It's different, and it's not one game.
- 1:16:06Speaker 3: It's just different.
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: It's built different. That's all I got.
- 1:16:12Speaker 3: Great.
- 1:16:13Speaker 2: I would love to see a Superbowl and never happen.
- 1:16:15Speaker 2: I would still love to see a Superbowl in front
- 1:16:17Speaker 2: of a home crowd.
- 1:16:19Speaker 3: I know it'll never happen. Just saying.
- 1:16:21Speaker 2: I love watching fans react to great things in the game.
- 1:16:25Speaker 1: Hey, player's choice award, NL comeback player of the year,
- 1:16:29Speaker 1: Zach Wheeler. Congratulations to him. What a year for him. AJ,
- 1:16:34Speaker 1: you had something else? No. Oh, that was from the interview.
- 1:16:40Speaker 1: I saw in the text.
- 1:16:40Speaker 3: No, no, no. Sorry. Zach Wheeler, how much time did
- 1:16:44Speaker 3: he miss? Because I'm always confused by this one, the
- 1:16:47Speaker 3: comeback player. Not that Zach Wheeler wasn't very deserving at all,
- 1:16:50Speaker 3: but how much time did he miss last year? Basically
- 1:16:52Speaker 3: the whole year, right? No, no, no, no, no.
- 1:16:55Speaker 2: Just the end of the year? He started out really well,
- 1:16:58Speaker 2: and that's when he got the blood clot. So you're talking,
- 1:17:00Speaker 2: I want to say June. I'll look it up to
- 1:17:02Speaker 2: see how many starts he made and try to backlog it.
- 1:17:06Speaker 3: Because I always laughed when– or not laughed, but I
- 1:17:08Speaker 3: always wondered, you know, they'd have like comeback player of
- 1:17:10Speaker 3: the year. He missed a week in September, and he's
- 1:17:13Speaker 3: really had to battle back this year. Or someone just
- 1:17:16Speaker 3: had a terrible year, and then they'd have a great year,
- 1:17:19Speaker 3: and everyone's like, oh, player of the year, comeback. Like, oh,
- 1:17:21Speaker 3: the guy just had a bad year. He didn't come
- 1:17:23Speaker 3: back from anything like Zach Wheeler just had a rib
- 1:17:26Speaker 3: taken out.
- 1:17:27Speaker 2: Like, Zach Wheeler had 24 starts. He had 24 starts.
- 1:17:31Speaker 2: This is a dude that makes all his starts. So
- 1:17:33Speaker 2: he missed eight starts. I think the comeback part, like, look,
- 1:17:36Speaker 2: he had a blood clot. I'm not even worried about
- 1:17:38Speaker 2: his arm moving. We're talking about like life sustaining things.
- 1:17:42Speaker 2: The one year there was one player who was notoriously
- 1:17:46Speaker 2: heavy and then light, heavy, then light. And some of
- 1:17:49Speaker 2: my teammates were like, oh, he's the one that should
- 1:17:52Speaker 2: be comeback player of the year.
- 1:17:53Speaker 3: I was like, what?
- 1:17:55Speaker 2: He showed up this Spring training last year, 30 pounds heavier.
- 1:17:58Speaker 2: Because he lost weight and did good this year, that's
- 1:18:01Speaker 2: why you think he's comeback player of the year when
- 1:18:03Speaker 2: other dudes are coming back from ACL, full elbow reconstruction.
- 1:18:08Speaker 3: I don't know. I think it's one of those things.
- 1:18:10Speaker 2: I don't think Wheeler's taking much time out to celebrate
- 1:18:13Speaker 2: his comeback player of the year.
- 1:18:15Speaker 3: No, he's not. Yes. What do they have in the
- 1:18:17Speaker 3: water there in Philly? Jalen Hurts, blood clot. Now, Zach
- 1:18:20Speaker 3: Wheeler last year, blood clot. I mean, is this going
- 1:18:22Speaker 3: to be like the old Phillies, the turf at the
- 1:18:24Speaker 3: vet where we're going to have to start doing investigations
- 1:18:27Speaker 3: into what's going on in Philly? That's that the cement
- 1:18:30Speaker 3: at the vet was we've lost.
- 1:18:33Speaker 2: We've lost some. I run ironically the same way. Brain
- 1:18:37Speaker 2: tumors to guys who spend a lot of time on
- 1:18:40Speaker 2: the vet.
- 1:18:40Speaker 3: The blood clots. What's that? You said the cement.
- 1:18:46Speaker 2: They were testing the cement, the chemicals that go in
- 1:18:48Speaker 2: the cement under the turf.
- 1:18:50Speaker 3: At the vet.
- 1:18:52Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:18:52Speaker 1: Real quick, too, for Wheeler. He still debuted in April
- 1:18:55Speaker 1: this year, and his last start last year was August 15th.
- 1:19:00Speaker 1: In terms of time, it's not a lot, but the
- 1:19:02Speaker 1: storyline is the driver here.
- 1:19:05Speaker 3: Yes, for sure.
- 1:19:06Speaker 2: And he was nasty this year. He was getting there.
- 1:19:09Speaker 2: Look at some Cy Young votes this year.
- 1:19:12Speaker 4: Again.
- 1:19:13Speaker 1: Where you've got current players even at the Rays game
- 1:19:17Speaker 1: for game four fired up like Glassnow, our boy Pete Fairbanks.
- 1:19:21Speaker 1: I know it can seem weird maybe to some in
- 1:19:23Speaker 1: the industry. I like this, guys. I think it's cool
- 1:19:27Speaker 1: that you've got some respected players there coming back and
- 1:19:32Speaker 1: firing it up. No? No. There's two teams left. So
- 1:19:37Speaker 1: Archer's okay. What's the problem? That they're current players? That
- 1:19:42Speaker 1: they're currently playing?
- 1:19:43Speaker 2: I don't have a problem. It just feels a little weird.
- 1:19:49Speaker 2: I don't think it's weird. I know when I was playing,
- 1:19:55Speaker 2: I enjoyed watching the games, but I would not go
- 1:19:58Speaker 2: to a game. I live in Virginia, so there was
- 1:20:02Speaker 2: no There was no local World Series going to be
- 1:20:06Speaker 2: happening close to me. Going to the game is one thing.
- 1:20:12Speaker 2: Being celebrated on the big screen when Tyler Glasnow, who
- 1:20:17Speaker 2: was a Rays legend, all that stuff. Well, I guess
- 1:20:21Speaker 2: not legend, but he was a Ray.
- 1:20:22Speaker 3: He's a good Ray.
- 1:20:23Speaker 2: And then he plays for another team. He could easily
- 1:20:26Speaker 2: have been pitching in that game last night for the Dodgers.
- 1:20:29Speaker 1: But they're not. It's not like a bunch of Red
- 1:20:33Speaker 1: Sox going to a Yankees game cheering him on.
- 1:20:36Speaker 3: I don't know. I mean– I don't know.
- 1:20:40Speaker 1: AJ?
- 1:20:40Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 1:20:42Speaker 1: Times have changed.
- 1:20:44Speaker 3: Yes. This is weird for me because I remember 2014
- 1:20:48Speaker 3: when I was working for Fox and I was still playing.
- 1:20:51Speaker 3: We lost in the NOCS. And then they called me
- 1:20:53Speaker 3: and said, hey, you want to come work the World Series?
- 1:20:55Speaker 3: I'm like, that would be really strange for me to
- 1:20:58Speaker 3: show up right after we just lost. Adam Wainwright had
- 1:21:00Speaker 3: the same thing when I talked to him. one year
- 1:21:02Speaker 3: where they lost in the wildcard, and then they asked
- 1:21:04Speaker 3: him to come do the DS with us. He's like, oh,
- 1:21:06Speaker 3: we just lost. It's going to look a bad look.
- 1:21:09Speaker 3: This is not the same thing, and I still had
- 1:21:12Speaker 3: a problem with it back then. They're watching a game. Fine,
- 1:21:16Speaker 3: if you want to be in this thing. I saw
- 1:21:17Speaker 3: Teoscar Hernandez. I saw Randy Ariza-Rena. I saw a bunch
- 1:21:20Speaker 3: of guys that were at the games the last couple
- 1:21:22Speaker 3: of days. I don't think Randy was there, but I
- 1:21:24Speaker 3: saw Teoscar. A ton of people were at these games
- 1:21:27Speaker 3: watching because there's a lot of guys that live in
- 1:21:28Speaker 3: the Tampa area. So, I don't know. Maybe it's more
- 1:21:33Speaker 3: like Chris Archer works for the Dodgers, right, which is fine,
- 1:21:36Speaker 3: but then he's there as a raised guy, and then
- 1:21:38Speaker 3: they show him, and it gets the crowd fired up.
- 1:21:42Speaker 3: To me, it's just weird. It's kind of like crafts.
- 1:21:44Speaker 3: It's just weird when you're still playing and you play
- 1:21:45Speaker 3: for another team. I don't know. I don't have a
- 1:21:47Speaker 3: problem with it. It's just a little different. I've never
- 1:21:49Speaker 3: seen it. Maybe that's why it's strange to.
- 1:22:00Speaker 1: Me. AJ, did you see this guy that went viral
- 1:22:04Speaker 1: pretty close to the field? He was in a prime seat,
- 1:22:08Speaker 1: and he's just snoozing. I mean, maybe we just caught
- 1:22:11Speaker 1: him in a moment, but the game was pretty good.
- 1:22:15Speaker 1: If that's game three, AJ, fine, because we went a
- 1:22:18Speaker 1: few extra innings.
- 1:22:21Speaker 3: The game was late, Scott. Trust me, it was late.
- 1:22:23Speaker 3: I told you all I left early. I had to.
- 1:22:25Speaker 3: I had to get home. It took me three hours
- 1:22:29Speaker 3: to get there, okay? It took me three hours to
- 1:22:31Speaker 3: get there. It took me an hour and 37 minutes
- 1:22:33Speaker 3: for the same drive last night after midnight. That's how
- 1:22:35Speaker 3: it used to be for me to get to St. Pete.
- 1:22:38Speaker 3: Now it's three hours.
- 1:22:41Speaker 1: Wait, but that describes it in a nutshell, why they
- 1:22:44Speaker 1: struggle during the regular season. Because you're looking at the
- 1:22:47Speaker 1: traffic after work and you're like, I'm never getting there.
- 1:22:50Speaker 1: And then you drive home if it's late enough and
- 1:22:53Speaker 1: you're sailing.
- 1:22:55Speaker 4: True.
- 1:22:57Speaker 3: A lot of fans have traffic to get to stadiums.
- 1:23:00Speaker 1: I agree. From someone who grew up in the New York,
- 1:23:03Speaker 1: New Jersey area.
- 1:23:05Speaker 3: He lives in traffic.
- 1:23:07Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:23:08Speaker 3: Dodgers don't show up until the second.
- 1:23:12Speaker 1: But they show up. You can enjoy an MLB World
