- 0:00SPEAKER_03: Don't pack your bikini has no script on purpose.
- 0:04SPEAKER_03: Sometimes we have a topic with amazing women that will leave you inspired, or at least not feeling like you're alone.
- 0:12SPEAKER_03: Sometimes it's just our Disney friends getting together to laugh because real life isn't scripted or contrived.
- 0:19SPEAKER_03: It just sort of dumps out all over the place from what was that neatly organized and well-prepared suitcase intended for a perfect life journey that maybe didn't turn out so perfect.
- 0:33SPEAKER_03: We invite you to listen in and subscribe as we launch Don't Pack Your Bikini this October.
- 0:40SPEAKER_03: Until then, here are a few clips from our upcoming episodes.
- 0:46SPEAKER_03: You know that moment when you're about to pack your favorite bikini.
- 0:50SPEAKER_03: But some part of you knows you're not gonna use it.
- 0:53SPEAKER_03: Yeah, we know that feeling.
- 0:55SPEAKER_03: I'm Polly.
- 0:57SPEAKER_04: And I'm Jennifer.
- 0:58SPEAKER_04: We started as Disney interns and found a friendship that survived hurricanes, heartbreaks, career pivots, and everything life decided to throw at us.
- 1:08SPEAKER_03: Welcome to Don't Pack Your Bikini.
- 1:11SPEAKER_03: Real conversations with women who have the receipts for lives that didn't go according to plan.
- 1:17SPEAKER_04: It's messier, harder, funnier, and honestly, so much more interesting than anything you could have packed for.
- 1:25SPEAKER_03: No filters and no pretending it was always graceful.
- 1:28SPEAKER_03: So grab a glass of wine and your comfiest pajamas.
- 1:32SPEAKER_03: Because here's what we do know.
- 1:34SPEAKER_03: The bikini was never the point.
- 1:38SPEAKER_04: That's a whole other story when we grow up and we hear things.
- 1:41SPEAKER_04: Like my family, they have said from I don't know how long, my mother, well, we came over on the Mayflower.
- 1:47SPEAKER_04: No, you didn't.
- 1:48SPEAKER_04: No, you didn't.
- 1:48SPEAKER_04: You didn't come.
- 1:49SPEAKER_04: There's no record of you on the Mayflower.
- 1:51SPEAKER_04: No, no, we didn't, because I did the genealogy.
- 1:54SPEAKER_04: And then forever, my mom would say that we were related to John Brown.
- 1:58SPEAKER_04: The you know, the guy that killed people in Kansas.
- 2:01SPEAKER_04: And uh no, I don't know that, but John Brown, the guy that hanged he Harper's very Virginia.
- 2:07SPEAKER_04: Go Google that.
- 2:08SPEAKER_04: Oh, okay.
- 2:09SPEAKER_04: Yeah, anyway.
- 2:10SPEAKER_04: Go Google that.
- 2:11SPEAKER_04: Anyway, she would always say, Oh, we're related to John Brown.
- 2:14SPEAKER_04: No, we're not.
- 2:15SPEAKER_04: No, we're not.
- 2:16SPEAKER_04: We're related to a John Brown.
- 2:19SPEAKER_03: Sometimes the conversation takes a turn.
- 2:21SPEAKER_03: Like what happens when retirement makes your marriage?
- 2:24SPEAKER_02: Time's coming.
- 2:25SPEAKER_02: I mean, when Chris retires, I mean he travels all the time, and and I agreed to like pick up all the things, right?
- 2:30SPEAKER_02: The things that he was doing that he'd done our whole marriage.
- 2:33SPEAKER_02: But then my time's coming because I'm I'm gonna have to give it back.
- 2:38SPEAKER_02: And then the thing is gonna be is all the things that we're farming out now, he's gonna want to do.
- 2:42SPEAKER_02: And it's not gonna bring me joy to paint the walls and change the oil in the car and all the grass.
- 2:47SPEAKER_02: Like, I am not gonna want to do all the farmed-out activities.
- 2:51SPEAKER_02: That's right.
- 2:51SPEAKER_02: So, and he's gonna be like, Let's mow the grass today.
- 2:54SPEAKER_02: I'm like, There's no us in that statement.
- 2:56SPEAKER_02: But it's that's what he's gonna think.
- 2:57SPEAKER_02: So my time is coming.
- 2:58SPEAKER_02: Sometimes we get serious because life doesn't always give you a heads up.
- 3:04SPEAKER_00: And so I called my husband, I said, I am going to be laid off today.
- 3:08SPEAKER_00: And he was like, You're overreacting, that's not what it means.
- 3:11SPEAKER_00: And I said, I have a portfolio of projects, and these two are my biggest.
- 3:16SPEAKER_00: And sure enough, that's exactly what happened.
- 3:19SPEAKER_03: I did not have insurance, I did not get a severance package, I had a mortgage, it was a hundred percent on me.
- 3:27SPEAKER_03: College tuition was 60% on me, and it was terrifying, and I was sick, and I remember making choices between gasoline and food.
- 3:41SPEAKER_03: I remember looking, wondering how long before my savings is entirely gone, and I start pulling out my 401k.
- 3:52SPEAKER_03: And then again, sometimes we're just trying to sedate a dog to clip his nails.
- 3:59SPEAKER_04: Is it you're gonna clip the nails yourself?
- 4:02SPEAKER_04: Yeah, uh well, yeah, Mike and I.
- 4:04SPEAKER_04: We we it it has to be a two-person job.
- 4:06SPEAKER_04: So uh we're gonna sedate him.
- 4:09SPEAKER_04: Don't listen.
- 4:10SPEAKER_04: We're gonna sedate him.
- 4:12SPEAKER_04: And uh he's too stupid to know.
- 4:15SPEAKER_04: And then we're gonna um hopefully clip it.
- 4:18SPEAKER_04: We tried Monday night, but the dosage wasn't.
- 4:21SPEAKER_04: You know, we we tried the lowest dosage.
- 4:25SPEAKER_04: We tried.
- 4:27SPEAKER_04: Doc's been on a perpetual high since.
- 4:31SPEAKER_04: No, we gave him all last night.
- 4:32SPEAKER_04: Last night we he was just so tonight he gets a he gets instead of one pill, he gets two pills, but there's a combination, so he gets four pills because you gotta give him the gabapentine and you gotta give them the other one.
- 4:46SPEAKER_04: I don't know what that is.
- 4:47SPEAKER_04: And so and have you clipped meals.
- 4:50SPEAKER_01: Now, what Mike and Polly don't know is that Marshall's been out in the backyard to the neighbor dogs filling.
- 4:58SPEAKER_04: Yeah, he's been cheeking them and he's taking them out back.
- 5:02SPEAKER_04: That's why we couldn't do it, probably on Monday night.
