- 0:31Speaker 2: How God can do some unexpected, wonderful things for you,
- 0:37Speaker 2: How he leads your life in directions that you never
- 0:39Speaker 2: ever saw coming. You know, I was talking with somebody
- 0:42Speaker 2: the other day and they were talking about how man,
- 0:45Speaker 2: they were young and they were doing things, and they
- 0:48Speaker 2: never knew that the things that they were doing as
- 0:50Speaker 2: a youngster would come and help help form who they
- 0:56Speaker 2: were today as an adult. This guy is fifty years old,
- 1:00Speaker 2: and you know the same thing for you. If you
- 1:02Speaker 2: look back on your life and all of the things
- 1:05Speaker 2: that you've done, it helped shape you into who you
- 1:09Speaker 2: are now. This is provided now that you take the
- 1:13Speaker 2: positive approach. Now when I say look back at your
- 1:16Speaker 2: life and see what you've done, that doesn't mean dwell
- 1:20Speaker 2: on the misfortunate moments because the misfortunate moments were necessary.
- 1:24Speaker 1: I know it.
- 1:25Speaker 2: It's hard to see that when it's happening to you,
- 1:28Speaker 2: but the unfortunate moments are necessary. You know, what really
- 1:32Speaker 2: makes you appreciate summer vacation is winter work. What really
- 1:38Speaker 2: makes you appreciate a walk on the beach is when
- 1:41Speaker 2: it's cold, is rain in our side. What really makes
- 1:44Speaker 2: you appreciate when you're up, it's because you've been down.
- 1:49Speaker 2: See if you were up all the time, just the
- 1:53Speaker 2: nature of us as human beings, we would lose our
- 1:55Speaker 2: appreciation for it because it becomes case hurrah, whatever, what
- 2:00Speaker 2: it is, what it is, I'm just what you take
- 2:04Speaker 2: it for granted, it becomes expected. But what happens in
- 2:07Speaker 2: life is it has so many twisting turns, and then
- 2:11Speaker 2: you learn how to deal with those twisting turns, which
- 2:13Speaker 2: makes you now a more experienced person. And then when
- 2:17Speaker 2: the sunny days come, man, you go wild. It's really
- 2:19Speaker 2: nice outside. You really want to appreciate how warm weather.
- 2:23Speaker 2: Just stay in a bunch of cold weather all the time.
- 2:25Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying. I'm just this is really simpler.
- 2:28Speaker 2: Now a lot of analogies, but it helps you along
- 2:31Speaker 2: the way. Now, here's what I came to say today
- 2:35Speaker 2: to everybody out there, and this has helped me in
- 2:38Speaker 2: my life. I can't tell you what it's done for me,
- 2:42Speaker 2: but a lot of people are struggling with moving forward
- 2:46Speaker 2: with their future, their future plans, their future goals, their
- 2:51Speaker 2: future aspirations, their future hopes, their future dreams, just simply
- 2:58Speaker 2: your future wants. A lot of people trying to have
- 3:01Speaker 2: a hard time mapping out their future. Even what I'm
- 3:05Speaker 2: gonna do, what I'm gonna be, what I'm gonna make,
- 3:09Speaker 2: how I'm we'll go about it. What do I do next?
- 3:12Speaker 2: I want to share something with you that I had
- 3:14Speaker 2: to come to terms with. The quickest way to lose
- 3:18Speaker 2: focus on your future is to keep focusing on your past.
- 3:23Speaker 2: You know, It's like I said at the beginning. You
- 3:25Speaker 2: know when I say it's wonderful to look at your
- 3:28Speaker 2: life and review it, because if you look at it,
- 3:31Speaker 2: it'll tell you it really helps shape inform you today
- 3:36Speaker 2: as the person you are now if you look at
- 3:39Speaker 2: it in a positive sense. But if you dwell in
- 3:42Speaker 2: harp on the negative that's happened to you, then that
- 3:46Speaker 2: keeps you from seeing the good in the incident. Every
- 3:49Speaker 2: bad thing that's happened to you, that was a silver
- 3:52Speaker 2: lining behind it. I know people who were on drugs
- 3:56Speaker 2: who finally, man just got sent to prison for stealing
- 3:59Speaker 2: because it aint habit. I don't cat that's sold dope. Well,
- 4:03Speaker 2: he went to prison. He told me one time, he
- 4:05Speaker 2: says Steve. He said, man, this is the best thing
- 4:08Speaker 2: ever happened to me to save my life. Now, most
- 4:11Speaker 2: people would think, how in the world is going to
- 4:13Speaker 2: prison helpful for you, The brother said, it's saved my life.
- 4:18Speaker 2: First of all, it got me clean. He said, I've
- 4:21Speaker 2: been clean for five years from sitting in here. That's
- 4:25Speaker 2: for starters.
- 4:26Speaker 1: I'm clean. I ain't stealing no more.
- 4:28Speaker 2: I ain't putting myself in jeopardy, and I ain't jeopardizing
- 4:31Speaker 2: nobody else.
- 4:32Speaker 1: He said.
- 4:32Speaker 2: Now, man, I done went to college. I done got
- 4:35Speaker 2: a college degree while I'm in here. Then he was
- 4:39Speaker 2: released from prison, and the brother's life was completely turned around.
- 4:43Speaker 2: He married, he got a family, he got a great job.
- 4:47Speaker 2: He go to work every day. He's a productive citizen.
- 4:51Speaker 1: I mean.
- 4:51Speaker 2: So he looks back on his incarceration, even his drug abuse,
- 4:57Speaker 2: and it taught him how to appreciate that things in
- 5:00Speaker 2: life that he had taken for granted and was missing
- 5:03Speaker 2: because he said, Man, my life was just in a blur.
- 5:05Speaker 2: I didn't even know what was going on, he said,
- 5:08Speaker 2: Now I appreciate every day I wake up. That's what
- 5:11Speaker 2: I mean. Even in your missteps in life, there is
- 5:15Speaker 2: a purpose for the missteps. Every time you fail, there
- 5:19Speaker 2: was a reason for the failure. See what I had
- 5:23Speaker 2: to do was I had to learn that all of
- 5:25Speaker 2: my failures taught me how to get back up. So
- 5:29Speaker 2: I became a very strong and tough person in getting
- 5:32Speaker 2: back up. And then I was down and out so
- 5:35Speaker 2: long that it taught me how to really appreciate that up.
- 5:39Speaker 2: And so I've taken all of that and used it
- 5:43Speaker 2: those experiences that happened to me, and I became a
- 5:46Speaker 2: more experienced person. So next time when people talk about
- 5:50Speaker 2: me who don't know me, it don't shake me, cause
- 5:54Speaker 2: everybody not gonna like you. Man, you might as well
- 5:56Speaker 2: go and get on this train right now. And so
- 5:59Speaker 2: what I'm saying to you out there is the quickest
- 6:02Speaker 2: way to lose focus on your future is to keep
- 6:04Speaker 2: focusing on your past. Let it go. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 6:08Speaker 2: he left. Sometimes the breakup is the blessing. I know
- 6:12Speaker 2: it's hard to break up because now you're loaning you
- 6:14Speaker 2: by yourself. But man, but weren't you in misery when
- 6:17Speaker 2: you was in that? Weren't you in complete misery in that?
- 6:22Speaker 2: Now you kept asking God to fix it. But it
- 6:25Speaker 2: takes two people to fix a relationship. It don't just
- 6:27Speaker 2: take one. It take two to make a thing go right.
- 6:32Speaker 2: It take two to make it out of sight. You
- 6:35Speaker 2: really do have to have two people wanting a relationship
- 6:38Speaker 2: to work. It can't just be one person won a relationship.
- 6:41Speaker 2: So you can pray about the relationship all you want.
- 6:43Speaker 2: If the other person don't want you no more and
- 6:46Speaker 2: ain't gonna act right, you can't make him do that,
- 6:49Speaker 2: or you can't make her do that. But you steady
- 6:52Speaker 2: asking God for a new relationship. But you are yet
- 6:57Speaker 2: to be grateful that you are in a position to
- 7:00Speaker 2: have a relationship. And you keep harping on the past.
- 7:03Speaker 2: You don't think you hear that. I'm just a dude
- 7:06Speaker 2: with a show, and I hear it all the time.
- 7:08Speaker 2: Let it go go forward.
- 7:11Speaker 1: It's over.
- 7:12Speaker 2: You made it, He bought you through it, you conquered,
- 7:16Speaker 2: you survived it. Why are you dwelling on it and
- 7:20Speaker 2: making it the cross around your neck when clearly he
- 7:24Speaker 2: had removed it for you. Now, all you got to
- 7:27Speaker 2: do is come on. So if you sitting behind them walls,
- 7:30Speaker 2: brothers and sisters, I'm talking directly to you sometimes. Man,
- 7:34Speaker 2: you just got to get it right. All this repeat
- 7:37Speaker 2: of fender business, that's for?
- 7:38Speaker 1: Who is that for?
- 7:39Speaker 2: How ignorant can you be to keep giving your life
- 7:43Speaker 2: back to the penal system? Be free, man, walk the streets,
- 7:47Speaker 2: do the right thing. Ask God to help connect you.
- 7:49Speaker 2: He could do anything you think he can't give you
- 7:52Speaker 2: a job. Are you serious, man, Put some faith on it.
- 7:55Speaker 2: Let's move forward, y'all. Let it go.
- 7:57Speaker 1: Let's move here. Listening each with Steve Scorning Show
