- 0:02Speaker 1: This is a bramble Jam podcast. Welcome to Girls Gone Hallmark,
- 0:23Speaker 1: a Hallmark review podcast. I'm Megan and I'm a longtime
- 0:26Speaker 1: Hallmark fan. I'm Windy. I'm a former homework hater. Today
- 0:29Speaker 1: we're reviewing The Groomsmen First Look, which aired on Hallmark
- 0:32Speaker 1: Channel on Saturday, September sixth. However, the Groomsman trilogy did
- 0:36Speaker 1: originally air on Hallmark Plus in fall twenty twenty four. No,
- 0:39Speaker 1: your ears are not deceiving you. This is a brand
- 0:42Speaker 1: new review. We did review this movie back in twenty
- 0:44Speaker 1: twenty four when it originally aired, and we decided to
- 0:46Speaker 1: give it another look and a fresh review this time around.
- 0:49Speaker 1: Megan was like, Yo, the energy's real low in that episode.
- 0:53Speaker 1: We need to re record it. That is the truth.
- 0:56Speaker 1: You can keep up with our weekly schedule and late

- 1:39Speaker 1: over there right now, you know, like because we're doing
- 1:42Speaker 1: like these fun fall in Love Again reviews of older
- 1:47Speaker 1: Hallmark Fall movies because there is a real lack of
- 1:51Speaker 1: them this year. The people wanted Fall, we're given the
- 1:55Speaker 1: people fall. Yeah, so we're talking about it over there,
- 1:57Speaker 1: Girls Gone Hallmark in Facebook Groups. Oops. If you want

- 2:50Speaker 1: our show notes. So we are talking The Groomsman First
- 2:53Speaker 1: Look today. Let's start with a synopsis. A cautious pediatrician
- 2:57Speaker 1: and an overseas doctor meet at a wedding in Philadelphia,
- 3:01Speaker 1: but the long distance family and their friends may hinder
- 3:05Speaker 1: their budding romance. The Groomsman First Look was directed by
- 3:08Speaker 1: Ron Oliver. Ron has eighty nine directing credits, including Hallmark
- 3:11Speaker 1: favorites like The Wedding, Veil, Journey, Love at the Thanksgiving
- 3:15Speaker 1: Day Parade, A Timeless Christmas, and Christmas at the Plaza.
- 3:18Speaker 1: He will direct all three of the Groomsmen movies. The
- 3:21Speaker 1: story for The grooms Men is from Greg Baldwin and
- 3:25Speaker 1: Jonathan Bennett. Greg Baldwin has three previous writing credits, including
- 3:29Speaker 1: The Holiday Sitter and Wedding of a Lifetime. Jonathan Bennett
- 3:34Speaker 1: was previously credited for the story idea of the Holiday Sitter.
- 3:38Speaker 1: The telepay was written by Rick Garman and Ron Oliver.
- 3:40Speaker 1: Rick Garman has thirty one writing credits, including Falling Together.
- 3:44Speaker 1: Other Hallmark projects include Christmas on Cherry Lane, Notes of Autumn,
- 3:47Speaker 1: A Shoe attex Christmas, and Valentine in the Vineyard. Ron
- 3:51Speaker 1: Oliver is not only a director but also a prolific writer.
- 3:54Speaker 1: He's penscripts for Falling for Christmas on Netflix, Jolly Good Christmas,
- 3:58Speaker 1: Taking the Reins, and Christmas at the Plaza. BJ Britt
- 4:01Speaker 1: stars as pediatrician Pete. BJ has fifty one acting credits.
- 4:05Speaker 1: We last saw him on Hallmark and twenty twenty two
- 4:08Speaker 1: in The Holiday Stocking. Outside of Hallmark, BJ has appeared
- 4:12Speaker 1: in One Tree, Hill Bones, Son of Anarchy, Agents of Shield,
- 4:17Speaker 1: and ten episodes of Unreal. BJ will return in the
- 4:22Speaker 1: next two Groomsman movies. Heather Heman's plays Chelsea. According to IMDb,
- 4:26Speaker 1: Heather is best known for her role on the CW
- 4:28Speaker 1: series Hellcat, but for Hallmark, we've seen her in Come
- 4:31Speaker 1: Fly with Me, A Pinch of Portugal and Caribbean summer.
- 4:34Speaker 1: She also starred opposite Marco Grozini in The Christmas Under
- 4:37Speaker 1: the Lights. Jonathan Bennett plays Danny. He has eighty four
- 4:41Speaker 1: acting credits, including last year's Cherry Lane Movies, which aired
- 4:44Speaker 1: on Hallmark Plus. He will return as host and judge
- 4:48Speaker 1: on Finding Mister Christmas, which will air on Hallmark Channel
- 4:51Speaker 1: this year. Jonathan will be the featured lead in The
- 4:55Speaker 1: Groomsman's Second Chances movie. Tyler Hines plays Jack. Tyler is
- 5:01Speaker 1: once again set to be very busy this holiday season.
- 5:03Speaker 1: He will star in the third installment in the Wise
- 5:06Speaker 1: Men trilogy, The Wisest Men, as well as in Christmas
- 5:11Speaker 1: Above the Clouds with Aaron Craikow. Elizabeth watt Lett plays Hannah.
- 5:15Speaker 1: She has just nine acting credits and most are voice
- 5:18Speaker 1: work and a couple of short films. This is her
- 5:20Speaker 1: first appearance for Homework. Alexander Lincoln plays Danny's friend and manager, Zach.
- 5:25Speaker 1: Alexander is an English actor and has thirty previous acting credits,
- 5:28Speaker 1: including Geek Girl on Netflix and a BBC series called Doctors.
- 5:32Speaker 1: He will return for the next The Groomsman Second Chances.
- 5:36Speaker 1: Wendy may Brown plays Pete's mom, She's both a stage
- 5:39Speaker 1: and movie actress. She has also appeared in the BBC
- 5:42Speaker 1: series Doctors. Chloe Raphael plays Betty Jackson's daughter. She has
- 5:47Speaker 1: appeared in the Netflix series called Bodies, and has voiced
- 5:49Speaker 1: the character Conna in the cartoon Thomas and Friends. Lily
- 5:53Speaker 1: Doddsworth Evans plays the unnamed girl at the beginning of
- 5:57Speaker 1: the movie, the one who is telling the story. Lily
- 5:59Speaker 1: has fifteen acting credits, including the mini series Dracula, a
- 6:03Speaker 1: movie called The Good Lawyer and a movie, and the
- 6:07Speaker 1: movie The Art of Racing in the Rain. Let's take
- 6:10Speaker 1: a quick break and we'll come right back with our
- 6:12Speaker 1: first impressions. Hey, Wendy, what was your first impression of
- 6:23Speaker 1: the Groomsman? First look came for the romance, staying for
- 6:28Speaker 1: the romance. Plus ps Tyler's got his golden delicious tan
- 6:32Speaker 1: that I like very much. You know, the first time around,
- 6:36Speaker 1: my first impression was Jonathan Bennett is me and I
- 6:39Speaker 1: am Jonathan Bennett, and I stand by it. Let's talk
- 6:44Speaker 1: what we liked about this movie. Well, like you said,
- 6:47Speaker 1: this is our second watch of it. A lot of
- 6:51Speaker 1: my likes remain the same as the first time around.
- 6:54Speaker 1: That episode doesn't exist anymore. I did delete it off
- 6:58Speaker 1: of the internet. It's still complimentary. I really liked this movie.
- 7:02Speaker 1: I thought it was an overall great start to the trilogy.
- 7:07Speaker 1: I know a lot of people were a little bit
- 7:10Speaker 1: disappointed because Hallmark is re airing these movies that were
- 7:14Speaker 1: on Hallmark Plus already and have been for a year.
- 7:16Speaker 1: And still newsflash, all three of them are on Hallmark
- 7:20Speaker 1: Plus right now. You can watch all three of them
- 7:22Speaker 1: right now if you have Hallmark Plus. But it's a
- 7:26Speaker 1: nice little set of movies, very funny, very funny. You know.
- 7:30Speaker 1: My number one is the humor in these movies. And
- 7:34Speaker 1: I did rewatch this for our review and laughed out
- 7:37Speaker 1: loud in a couple of moments. Same look, I think
- 7:41Speaker 1: there are some mixed opinions. Can we start with some
- 7:43Speaker 1: of the humorous moments in this movie? Yeah, I think
- 7:46Speaker 1: there's some mixed opinions about the wedding dance in the beginning.
- 7:48Speaker 1: Oh h, I love it. I know I loved it
- 7:53Speaker 1: the first time. I remember you felt like it was well,
- 7:56Speaker 1: I'll let you say what you thought it was. But
- 7:57Speaker 1: I watching Tyler mid conversation be drawn into this dance,
- 8:04Speaker 1: as if against his will, I think it's the perfect
- 8:09Speaker 1: way to show This movie does a really great job
- 8:11Speaker 1: of setting up the three personalities of the guys. Jonathan
- 8:14Speaker 1: is goofy, he's fun loving, he's so excited to do
- 8:17Speaker 1: the dance. Jackson is kind of like a little bit reluctant,
- 8:23Speaker 1: too cool, but shows up for his friends anyway. He's like,
- 8:26Speaker 1: here we go again, just that moment watching him almost
- 8:30Speaker 1: be dragged as if by an invisible force into the
- 8:32Speaker 1: DAT and BJ two. I think they're really great. This
- 8:39Speaker 1: is the unpopular part. I think sometimes when we have
- 8:43Speaker 1: these bits, they then take on a life of their
- 8:47Speaker 1: own outside of the movie, and then people lean really
- 8:50Speaker 1: hard on that bit to be like, let's recreate this
- 8:53Speaker 1: over and over and over again. Yeah, that's what I
- 8:55Speaker 1: don't like. And so while I think there are people
- 8:58Speaker 1: for whom that really works for me, I'm like, yeah,
- 9:02Speaker 1: it was funny in the moment, but like this and
- 9:05Speaker 1: the Wise Men dances that get recreated, it maxes out
- 9:10Speaker 1: for me. I agree. Those are my thoughts exactly. I
- 9:14Speaker 1: agree with you. Like when we see the dance first
- 9:18Speaker 1: happening for the first time in the movie, it's very funny.
- 9:20Speaker 1: The way that it's executed. I liked all of that.
- 9:24Speaker 1: But with that said, we have also seen all three movies,
- 9:28Speaker 1: plus we have lived a year since this has come out.
- 9:31Speaker 1: We see we're on the cruise with these three guys,
- 9:33Speaker 1: and these guys are doing like we look, I get it.
- 9:36Speaker 1: I just don't like bits. I think that's what it is.
- 9:39Speaker 1: I think you and I are like a real bit
- 9:40Speaker 1: free zone. Hashtag no fun, hashtag wet blanket. I just
- 9:45Speaker 1: think that's who we are. Hold on putting it on
- 9:52Speaker 1: a shirt. Bit free zone coming to a girl's gone
- 9:58Speaker 1: homework shop near you? No? No, yes? Would you buy
- 10:03Speaker 1: that email as girls go on homework at gmail dot com?
- 10:05Speaker 1: I think that's what it comes down to you. I
- 10:07Speaker 1: admit I'm not that funny, and so I don't necessarily
- 10:14Speaker 1: find the humor in those moments all the time. But
- 10:16Speaker 1: the smiles on the guys, look, let me just tell you,
- 10:18Speaker 1: bj Brett has got a smile that could literally light
- 10:21Speaker 1: all of New York City. Yes, so it's hard not
- 10:24Speaker 1: to enjoy that moment. Yes, I agree, I do. I
- 10:28Speaker 1: do love that scene, though, you're right the whole one,
- 10:31Speaker 1: like Jackson's like, oh oh, it's happening, It's happening. It's
- 10:34Speaker 1: like trying to continue the conversation. It's well plaid, it's
- 10:37Speaker 1: well played. You're right piggybacking off that. I do love
- 10:42Speaker 1: the playful dynamic between these three guys. Sure, I had
- 10:47Speaker 1: forgotten how much like there is an energy between all
- 10:51Speaker 1: three of them that I enjoy very much. The banter
- 10:55Speaker 1: gives me buddy comedy vibes. Yeah, friend, chemistry is off
- 10:58Speaker 1: the charts. I love it so much. With that said,
- 11:02Speaker 1: it's not quite the same exact lightning in the bottle
- 11:07Speaker 1: as like Three Wise Men and a Baby Like I
- 11:09Speaker 1: feel like those three are great together. It's weird because
- 11:12Speaker 1: like Tyler is the common denominator between both of these groups. Right,
- 11:17Speaker 1: I'm curious to see what that would how they would
- 11:20Speaker 1: compare if Tyler wasn't in at least one of them.
- 11:24Speaker 1: I actually, yeah, I am not sure. I totally agree
- 11:28Speaker 1: with you that the chemistry isn't the same. You think
- 11:31Speaker 1: it's better. I think it's funnier. Oh interesting. I like
- 11:37Speaker 1: the Three Wise Men, Don't get me wrong. When we
- 11:39Speaker 1: saw that first movie, I was like, this movie is
- 11:41Speaker 1: a love love and a Hallmark fans. I think the
- 11:42Speaker 1: Groomsman operates in much the same way pairing these people together.
- 11:47Speaker 1: We're here for the dudes. I think I'm gonna be honest,
- 11:50Speaker 1: and maybe this is women on women crime. I think
- 11:52Speaker 1: it functions better than the Wedding Veil trilogy does in
- 11:55Speaker 1: some ways. Go ahead, I'm listening, but I just I
- 12:00Speaker 1: think they do a better job of focusing on the
- 12:01Speaker 1: friendship in the Groomsmen trilogy than they did in the
- 12:03Speaker 1: Wedding Veil. Is the difference. I think the Wedding Veil
- 12:06Speaker 1: is heavier on the relationships, and I think maybe that's
- 12:09Speaker 1: what women want when they're watching those movies. Nah, I
- 12:11Speaker 1: don't want that, I know. I like the friendship vibe.
- 12:14Speaker 1: I like the funny. I like the moments in the
- 12:16Speaker 1: Wedding Veil when they're all together and Tracy as dry
- 12:18Speaker 1: as hell, yeah, bringing that level of humor. I like
- 12:22Speaker 1: all of that. I think it's a different vibe. I
- 12:24Speaker 1: think Griomsmen versus Three Wiser Men is a different vibe.
- 12:27Speaker 1: I think Griomsmen's goofyer. I don't find it to be
- 12:31Speaker 1: less than though. Okay, there's not a wrong answer. There's no,
- 12:35Speaker 1: there's not. I like both of them, and then I
- 12:37Speaker 1: hear your argument to you, my brain can't stop thinking
- 12:40Speaker 1: about The Wedding Veil. You're right, I do wish it
- 12:44Speaker 1: was more focused on the friendships. And I'm trying to think, like,
- 12:52Speaker 1: could a movie trilogy like that be replicated again with
- 12:59Speaker 1: three women? It plays more funny. I think it absolutely could,
- 13:03Speaker 1: especially picture someone like Ashley raining, Oh my, Amy Greeny
- 13:07Speaker 1: would be so good. Yeah, stap it right now. You know,
- 13:09Speaker 1: here's what I think happened. This is my I don't
- 13:12Speaker 1: know anything about anything. I feel like the Wedding Veil
- 13:14Speaker 1: was made. Then we get the first three Wiseman movie
- 13:16Speaker 1: and they're like, oh, look, people like to laugh. People
- 13:20Speaker 1: like to laugh. We don't necessarily need the romance to
- 13:23Speaker 1: be the forefront. There is a romance in Three Wise Men,
- 13:26Speaker 1: but it's not the forefront of the movie. It's not
- 13:28Speaker 1: why people come, it's not how people stay, it's not
- 13:31Speaker 1: people return to that movie. And so I think, my
- 13:33Speaker 1: guess is they saw that and they were like, oh,
- 13:36Speaker 1: we can have this series like the Wedding Veil, but
- 13:39Speaker 1: we can swap the focus a little bit. Now. Again,
- 13:42Speaker 1: of course we got three romances here, but I would
- 13:45Speaker 1: argue that the romances are not the central point of
- 13:47Speaker 1: any of the movies. Yeah, like the Romance Ties the
- 13:51Speaker 1: movies together. Yeah. The Groomsman is about these three friends,
- 13:56Speaker 1: the groomsmen of the mystery bride's wedding. I want a
- 13:59Speaker 1: movie trilogy with three Ashley Williams. Can we get that made?
- 14:04Speaker 1: I think Ashley Williams should make it and direct it,
- 14:07Speaker 1: and then Julie Sherman Wolf should write it. Yeah. I
- 14:10Speaker 1: would love maybe Graininess and Kimberly sas dad. Oh oh,
- 14:15Speaker 1: she's so funny. She's so good and funny. Yeah, okay,
- 14:18Speaker 1: we've done the hard work for you. Some other humorous moments,
- 14:24Speaker 1: if I may look, The video call remains very funny.
- 14:27Speaker 1: The setup of it, him swapping out all of his
- 14:30Speaker 1: like sporty pieces for more sophisticated art pieces, the makeover
- 14:34Speaker 1: montage of it all. I'll mention there is a failure
- 14:39Speaker 1: in that moment, but I like how they counteract that
- 14:42Speaker 1: with Like the eventual actual video call is very relaxed.
- 14:44Speaker 1: He's just woken up. It's very more true to life.
- 14:49Speaker 1: One of my favorite running bits, even for a bit
- 14:52Speaker 1: free zone kind of lady, is Tyler slash Jackson always
- 14:56Speaker 1: kind of half passing it at the gym. He's always
- 14:58Speaker 1: got a snack in his hand. He's either sitting or
- 15:01Speaker 1: barely moving. Slides off the back of the treadmill. He
- 15:04Speaker 1: brings a plus comedy game to the gym. You know,
- 15:09Speaker 1: it's so interesting because I when I think of Tyler Hines,
- 15:12Speaker 1: I don't think of him as a comedic actor. But
- 15:14Speaker 1: he is though, right, yes, because it's he's so dry,
- 15:19Speaker 1: like he throws a line away. He and Jonathan Benna
- 15:22Speaker 1: have very different comedy styles, right, But yes, I think
- 15:27Speaker 1: of Tyler Hines as like the Jennifer Aniston of comedic actors.
- 15:30Speaker 1: Oh look at that. Like they can both throw a
- 15:34Speaker 1: line away and it just lands love it? Can I
- 15:40Speaker 1: talk quickly? I have a whole list of likes me too,
- 15:44Speaker 1: and I have we barely touched on them the same
- 15:47Speaker 1: the first, not even first. For me, The thing that
- 15:50Speaker 1: tops my list is the representation in this movie. Yeah.
- 15:55Speaker 1: To me, this movie doesn't just check boxes. We have
- 15:59Speaker 1: a story that looks like real life. We have blended families,
- 16:02Speaker 1: same sex couples, divorced parents. It is all handled authentically.
- 16:08Speaker 1: I just love it so much. This is like a
- 16:10Speaker 1: more than a like, It's a love. There's a scene
- 16:13Speaker 1: that I didn't really remember for the first time, but
- 16:16Speaker 1: I caught it on the second one when Jackson, Danny,
- 16:19Speaker 1: and daughter Betty get to the wedding rehearsal and the
- 16:22Speaker 1: like minister or whoever's performing the ceremony says, oh, you
- 16:27Speaker 1: must be the flower girl, and she corrects him with
- 16:29Speaker 1: flower persons and Jackson and Danny snap their fingers. I
- 16:33Speaker 1: missed that do the first time. I was like, I
- 16:36Speaker 1: love this so much. Yeah, so so much. I just
- 16:39Speaker 1: loved it, Mike Job, love it. Love it. Look Jonathan
- 16:42Speaker 1: Bennett running away from bugs screaming at the bugs. That
- 16:44Speaker 1: is me one hundred percent. If it feels over the top,
- 16:46Speaker 1: just trust that there are people out there in the world.
- 16:49Speaker 1: I will recreate that scene and my children they'll be
- 16:52Speaker 1: like I can attest as well. Hold still, mom, and
- 16:55Speaker 1: I will forurreak out at that one statement. So I
- 16:58Speaker 1: appreciated that. To me, the funniest moment in the movie
- 17:01Speaker 1: is Pete falling down the hill and Tyler Jackson going
- 17:05Speaker 1: I think he's slowing down. It is a laugh out
- 17:07Speaker 1: loud moment for me, and Pete is screaming like he's
- 17:09Speaker 1: Marvin home alone. If that's a line that lands for you,
- 17:12Speaker 1: I see you just all the way down the hill.
- 17:16Speaker 1: The physical comedy slays me, slays you in a way, uh,
- 17:22Speaker 1: in a way it doesn't usually honestly, it's too bitty sometimes. Yeah,
- 17:26Speaker 1: I know, just like that. I like the people are
- 17:28Speaker 1: getting hurt comedy. Oh yeah, yeah, So you don't love
- 17:31Speaker 1: like America's Funny's home videos when like people are getting
- 17:35Speaker 1: knocked in the nuts and whatever. I love an America's
- 17:37Speaker 1: Funniest Home video. I'm not gonna lie, but like Jackass
- 17:40Speaker 1: takes it a little bit too far. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 17:43Speaker 1: I hear you. Let's talk about bj Britt for a second. Yeah,
- 17:47Speaker 1: he's so incredibly likable. While watching this, I'm like, damn,
- 17:53Speaker 1: this dude is not on Hallmark and f Look, I'm
- 17:57Speaker 1: super excited he's going to be leading that movie, Tonight's Story.
- 18:01Speaker 1: That's the working title. I don't know if that's gonna
- 18:03Speaker 1: stick or not, but that's gonna be in countdown to Christmas. Yeah,
- 18:06Speaker 1: it seems like they got to add something holiday e
- 18:09Speaker 1: in there, but maybe not. What do I know? I
- 18:11Speaker 1: don't know, but I'm really looking forward to that me too.
- 18:15Speaker 1: I really enjoy him. He has charisma, he has an
- 18:18Speaker 1: ease about him. He has a great smile. Like you said,
- 18:21Speaker 1: more freakin' b J Britt more b Jay Britt. Indeed,
- 18:26Speaker 1: when the makeover montage leading into his date look is
- 18:30Speaker 1: so Ralph Lauren, I can't even stand it. With the
- 18:32Speaker 1: final look, oh oh my god, oh my god. Okay,
- 18:37Speaker 1: can we talk about this scene for a second, because
- 18:39Speaker 1: he shows up and Danny's like, I don't know what's
- 18:42Speaker 1: going on with that. Excuse me. The man looks like
- 18:44Speaker 1: a snack. He's in this like, he looks so good.
- 18:47Speaker 1: It is white shirt, he looks great. Yeah, what does
- 18:51Speaker 1: Danny say to him? You look like a guidance counselor.
- 18:54Speaker 1: I mean that works for some people. I was like,
- 18:58Speaker 1: I don't hate it. Great. Then he does like all
- 19:02Speaker 1: these like silly, these silly things that he tries on
- 19:05Speaker 1: or whatever. But then you're right, and he even looks
- 19:07Speaker 1: even better it is. We talked about it in Snowbride.
- 19:12Speaker 1: I have this real aesthetic love for this Ralph Lauren
- 19:17Speaker 1: type J crew. What's not a sport coat? Yes, thank
- 19:23Speaker 1: you very much. Indeed, here's one thing I love. They
- 19:26Speaker 1: do not treat Betty like a nuisance. They do not
- 19:28Speaker 1: treat her like our friend's daughter. Who's a tad along.
- 19:30Speaker 1: She's just one of the crew. Yep. They're all real
- 19:33Speaker 1: cool with her. Danny has a great vibe with her.
- 19:36Speaker 1: They talk to her like an adult. I just love
- 19:38Speaker 1: the way she fits into their friend group so much.
- 19:42Speaker 1: I agree. I was so happy that they made Jackson
- 19:46Speaker 1: a parent of a teenager and it just it just works.
- 19:52Speaker 1: And I agree with you. I like that she's not
- 19:54Speaker 1: seen as a nuisance. She just rolls with them like
- 19:56Speaker 1: they there's a mutual respect there. Yeah, yep, yep, yep, yeap.
- 20:01Speaker 1: Two more little things. I really enjoyed Pete and Chelsea's
- 20:05Speaker 1: meet cute. I think that feels very realistic that, like
- 20:08Speaker 1: you come across somebody out in the hallway of a wedding,
- 20:11Speaker 1: you're on the phone or whatever. It like felt very realistic.
- 20:15Speaker 1: I loved it. I thought they were dynamic together, great casting.
- 20:20Speaker 1: One more scene that I really really loved, and it
- 20:23Speaker 1: goes back to the camping scene. I just love this
- 20:26Speaker 1: scene so much. When Jonathan Bennett's character Danny tells the
- 20:30Speaker 1: guys like, thank you for letting me like be who
- 20:33Speaker 1: I am, thank you for being there when I came out,
- 20:35Speaker 1: Like I love, love, loved all that emotional like heartbeat
- 20:38Speaker 1: of that they're friendship. Yeah, good stuff. Well let's talk wishes.
- 20:45Speaker 1: I don't have many. I have a few, Okay. I
- 20:48Speaker 1: don't understand why Chelsea and her family live in Bulgaria.
- 20:54Speaker 1: It's never explained. Like I could see like Chelsea being
- 20:58Speaker 1: there as like maybe like a doctor without borders or
- 21:01Speaker 1: I don't know wherever, you know, she's working abroad or whatever,
- 21:03Speaker 1: But why does her family live there? Are they from Bulgaria?
- 21:07Speaker 1: I don't know. I didn't understand any of that. I
- 21:09Speaker 1: guess it doesn't need to be explained, but like a
- 21:14Speaker 1: single throwaway line right would have been like, oh, okay,
- 21:19Speaker 1: got it. Moving on the other thing that I there.
- 21:26Speaker 1: It pains me to say this, but you know, I
- 21:28Speaker 1: don't like hijinks, and so there's like a little bit
- 21:32Speaker 1: of like the hyjinks goes a little bit too far
- 21:35Speaker 1: from me. And I know that Spider scene is very funny,
- 21:38Speaker 1: but sometimes I'm like, is it too far? Is it
- 21:42Speaker 1: too far? It works, the chasing of the cab multiple times,
- 21:45Speaker 1: the yeah, the carousel, Yeah, I think you know, I
- 21:51Speaker 1: was watching this through different eyes this time, and I
- 21:55Speaker 1: think what that speaks to is Pete tries to keep
- 21:59Speaker 1: his life if the Spider scene aside, Pete tries to
- 22:02Speaker 1: keep his life so in control, like yeah, you grow
- 22:04Speaker 1: up with this super free spirited mom and so as
- 22:06Speaker 1: a result, he's like, I like my life controlled and
- 22:09Speaker 1: predictable and within reach, right, And then he has all
- 22:12Speaker 1: of these moments in this relationship that push him out
- 22:16Speaker 1: coatrol and so I think those big, over the top
- 22:19Speaker 1: physical moments are trying to portray that Yeah, got it,
- 22:23Speaker 1: But yeah, it is a lot on the carousel I have.
- 22:26Speaker 1: I'm like, you're gonna get arrested. Well, the carousel scene
- 22:29Speaker 1: bothered me because I was like, bro, you are taking
- 22:31Speaker 1: the path of most resistance through the carousel, like go
- 22:34Speaker 1: around these people. He's like trying to stay close to
- 22:36Speaker 1: the carousel. So he's like, I'm like, just go around
- 22:38Speaker 1: the outside or do you freak out and be like
- 22:40Speaker 1: somebody grab that I mean, or jump on earlier, jump
- 22:44Speaker 1: on earlier. Yeah, before it goes behind that square mystery,
- 22:49Speaker 1: you know, and you get arrested, get arrested. Yeah. One
- 22:54Speaker 1: last thing I wished for is Pete and Chelsea's romance.
- 22:59Speaker 1: It's a little too accelerated for me. Sure, I feel
- 23:03Speaker 1: like they had initial great chemistry and then but then
- 23:07Speaker 1: like they rushed into marriage, like it just it feels
- 23:11Speaker 1: like super fast. But what to counter that? I love
- 23:15Speaker 1: that at one point Chelsea's like, whoa, let's like she
- 23:19Speaker 1: starts to question, like what their future is going to be, right,
- 23:22Speaker 1: And I just like that She was like, we just
- 23:24Speaker 1: need like a second to like step back and figure
- 23:27Speaker 1: this out. So I appreciated that because I felt like
- 23:30Speaker 1: that felt realistic as well. Yeah, my I have a
- 23:33Speaker 1: real issue with the fact that they didn't seem to
- 23:34Speaker 1: have real conversations about their future. They keep coming up
- 23:38Speaker 1: with these roadblocks like, oh, I don't where are we
- 23:40Speaker 1: going to live? How are we going to do this?
- 23:42Speaker 1: And when he tells the guys that he's going to propose,
- 23:45Speaker 1: they both balk and I'm like, yo, it's been four
- 23:47Speaker 1: months and you spent all of seventy two hours together,
- 23:50Speaker 1: and he says a few I'm going to do it anyway,
- 23:53Speaker 1: And they show up at the airport they've upgraded his ticket.
- 23:58Speaker 1: This whole business. And I understand stand from the friend perspective,
- 24:01Speaker 1: if your friend is going to do something that you
- 24:04Speaker 1: don't necessarily agree with, you have a choice. You can
- 24:06Speaker 1: stand firm and make a statement or you can be
- 24:10Speaker 1: there for them, and they've made the decision to be
- 24:11Speaker 1: there for them, but I do wish they had said, like,
- 24:14Speaker 1: we were here for you, but if you're going to
- 24:17Speaker 1: do this, maybe think about having a few conversations right.
- 24:22Speaker 1: Because they move forward with planning this wedding and finding
- 24:26Speaker 1: this perfect location that's beach adjacent, but they didn't take
- 24:29Speaker 1: the next step right, so that was frustrating. Yes, I agree,
- 24:34Speaker 1: this is something I said last year, and I feel
- 24:37Speaker 1: like it's important to point out. And I hope that
- 24:40Speaker 1: the upcoming countdown to Christmas announcements are a pleasant surprise.
- 24:45Speaker 1: I do feel like Hallmark leans really hard on Jonathan
- 24:48Speaker 1: Bennett to be their king of representation. Yeah, and I
- 24:51Speaker 1: love Jonathan Bennett, and I love the pride he takes
- 24:54Speaker 1: in that role. The outfits that he wore in the
- 24:58Speaker 1: Christmas House were in the Smith's for being the first
- 25:01Speaker 1: same sex kiss on Hallmark. Great. I love that he
- 25:06Speaker 1: really takes pride in playing these roles and it's important
- 25:09Speaker 1: to him. And I wish that the powers it be
- 25:14Speaker 1: at a Hallmark. What feels to me they have rested
- 25:18Speaker 1: on their laurels and be like, look we've got Jonathan Bennett.
- 25:20Speaker 1: Everybody loves Jonathan Bennett. We're good. Don't just sit back
- 25:25Speaker 1: and relax on them. Just tick that box correct. Yeah,
- 25:29Speaker 1: I hear you. I absolutely hear you. I have the
- 25:32Speaker 1: digit see that to end all digit see that's do
- 25:35Speaker 1: you go ahead? This is from Ron Oliver himself. Oh,
- 25:39Speaker 1: at the wedding, Chelsea's phone has died with her speech
- 25:41Speaker 1: on it. Shortly thereafter, she's in the hall on her
- 25:44Speaker 1: phone with a patient. Oh and this was called out
- 25:47Speaker 1: on the Hallmark Channel Facebook page, and Ron Oliver himself says,
- 25:49Speaker 1: as a matter of fact, we filmed a scene with
- 25:52Speaker 1: her like rapid fire, charging her phone and standing there
- 25:54Speaker 1: waiting for it to charge. And he thought, this is boring.
- 25:56Speaker 1: Nobody wants to see it, and they cut it. Hmmm,
- 26:02Speaker 1: so we have an explanation, continuity explained. Yeah, I love that.
- 26:08Speaker 1: You didn't that wasn't shared last year? Was it? No?
- 26:10Speaker 1: I just thought yesterday, great, my only did you see
- 26:14Speaker 1: that is the same that I had from last year.
- 26:17Speaker 1: Pete and Chelsea are supposed to be eating a Philly
- 26:19Speaker 1: cheese steak and it is nothing like a Philly cheese steak.
- 26:22Speaker 1: So I rewatched that scene, and Pete says to her,
- 26:25Speaker 1: there are two main staples in Philly, a hogy and
- 26:28Speaker 1: a cheese steak covered in cheese whiz. Are they eating hogies?
- 26:32Speaker 1: They're eating hogies? Oh well, damn it. It is unclear
- 26:35Speaker 1: because he says, a hogy and a cheese steak gotta
- 26:37Speaker 1: be covered in cheese whiz. But they're eating hogies. Well,
- 26:39Speaker 1: the cheese steak is superior to a hogy. In my opinion,
- 26:43Speaker 1: a hoky is like a sub sandwich with a different branding.
- 26:47Speaker 1: I know, a cheesesteak is delicious with the peppers and
- 26:50Speaker 1: the yes, yes, yes, so good. Another continuity moment, BJ
- 26:54Speaker 1: is speaking, Pete is speaking in FaceTime with Jackson, Danny
- 26:59Speaker 1: and phones, which is back and forth between landscape and
- 27:02Speaker 1: portraits throughout the entire scene, and like sometimes they're on
- 27:05Speaker 1: top of each other. Sometimes there's like the same like yeah.
- 27:09Speaker 1: Going back to the video call, I would just like
- 27:11Speaker 1: to tell b J Britt in future video calls, you
- 27:13Speaker 1: are one of the most attractive and on the planet,
- 27:15Speaker 1: but you do need to raise the camera up. Do
- 27:18Speaker 1: not have the camera blow your jawline. Even for you,
- 27:22Speaker 1: you look great, but in the future raise it up.
- 27:25Speaker 1: You think he had any saying that. No, but I'm
- 27:30Speaker 1: just surprised that nobody. I mean, what are they gonna
- 27:32Speaker 1: do that. It's not esthetically pleasing to pull out a
- 27:34Speaker 1: stack of books. But it was on his coffee table. Yeah, uh,
- 27:41Speaker 1: I noticed it again. I actually wondered if they were
- 27:43Speaker 1: gonna eight r this last? Did you see that? Pete
- 27:45Speaker 1: is on the phone talking about a procedure with a
- 27:48Speaker 1: teenager and he says lap trolls and it's lap Coli'S
- 27:53Speaker 1: coally systectomy. I've watched a lot of medical drama. The
- 27:56Speaker 1: frame is phrases lap Coli'S laptroll because it's it's spelled
- 28:01Speaker 1: c h ol e. Yah. Yeah yeah, yeah, So I
- 28:04Speaker 1: actually wondered if they were going to eighty or that
- 28:06Speaker 1: in the second round. They did not. They're still there not. Yeah,
- 28:09Speaker 1: they didn't have like a medical person on the staff
- 28:12Speaker 1: to be like that's the wrong terminology. Yeah. Interesting. Would
- 28:18Speaker 1: you rate good stuff first look? Four stars? Four stars
- 28:21Speaker 1: for me too. Thank you for listening to this episode
