- 0:00Hey, everybody, it's Jeff. Hope you are doing well. Whenever you're
- 0:03listening to this, we wanted to let you know that we recorded this podcast
- 0:06episode on Wednesday night, November eighth, twenty twenty three, so by the
- 0:10time you hear this, some things may have changed, but we hope you
- 0:13enjoy the show. All right, everybody, you are listening to the Philadelphia
- 0:42Sports Table podcast show, the longest running weekly Philly sports podcast show in the
- 0:46world, over ten and a half years strong. Got a great show.
- 0:50Come on your way this week. Got some Phillies talk, Sixers talk,
- 0:53some NFL talking, of course, some Eagles talk. What we're throwing down
- 0:56on the table this week is a great discussion about this Eagles team, even
- 1:00the challenges they're going to be facing after this bye week and even longer down
- 1:06the road. For sure. I am Jeff Warren. I'm here at my
- 1:08good buddy, Eric Leonard, Eric Man. How you doing, Man,
- 1:11I'm good. I think it's time for you to take a bow, make
- 1:15a little announcement. Oh boy, copy, oh boy. Yeah. So,
- 1:19folks, I've mentioned a couple times how I was running for public office
- 1:23over the course of this twenty twenty three election cycle here in the county that
- 1:29I live in in Pennsylvania, in Northampton County. I won my race.
- 1:33I am officially a Northampton County Commissioner elect. I take office this January.
- 1:40I won with eighty to eighty. I wish I won with fifty seven percent
- 1:45of the vote and exceeding my expectations. So thanks for that, Eric,
- 1:49I appreciate it. I can't believe it, as I can't believe it's done.
- 1:53I can't believe it's done at this point, before we hit the record
- 1:55button, folks, I was telling Eric like I was getting to the point
- 1:57where I was tired of looking at a font on my signs and on my
- 2:01Palm cards when I was going door to door talking with folks, and you
- 2:05know, you just recite the same stuff over and over and over constantly.
- 2:08I was tired. I mean, I believe in my I believe in my
- 2:12platform, of course, but man, just reciting the same talking points over
- 2:15and over. I'm glad it's over. I can't wait to do some good
- 2:17work, man. But it was a long, long road, my friend.
- 2:22Yeah, and you and I have a tendency to self loath a little
- 2:25bit. Yes, you know, we can grow tired of ourselves pretty quickly.
- 2:30And it's like when I have a long day of calls at work,
- 2:36it hits five o'clock and the first thing I think of is, I hate
- 2:38the sound of my own voice. Oh my god, I'm so sicky myself.
- 2:42That's like an offshoot, cousin, of what you just experienced, you
- 2:45know, just campaigning constantly, and Connie, Yeah, the font of your
- 2:49card, the signs everywhere, the constant video shoots and meeting and greeting people,
- 2:53just and I'm sure there were nights you came home you're like, God,
- 2:54I hate I'm so sick of me. That's what I said. I
- 2:58cannot tell you how many I sometimes I'm Michelle will say to me, she's
- 3:02like, I don't know how you are in this particular line and a line
- 3:07of you know, public service here, because she's like, you are way
- 3:09too honest, Like I was. I was legitimately telling people when I was
- 3:14at their doorsteps, talking to them about issues they care about, and that
- 3:16I care about some people who I kind of knew anyway, but I would
- 3:21tell them, I'm like, I am so tired of looking at myself.
- 3:23I'm like this picture here on my palm card. I'm like, I'm tired
- 3:27of me. I'm so sick and tired of Jeff Warren, so tired of
- 3:32it. Yes, you know you really should do is on the pst Twitter
- 3:37account. Put some of the Jeff had to do, some like like what
- 3:42was it like tech text blasts? Yeah, they were like just to yeah,
- 3:46I used I used a specific company that that that's reputable, reputable and
- 3:51when I mean that reputable within election outreach via text messages. I'm sure some
- 3:55of you out there have gotten these. Look I didn't. I didn't like
- 3:59to do it, but it's a matter of getting people out to vote,
- 4:01to remind them when election day is because quite frankly, a lot of people
- 4:04don't know what election day is and off your elections. Yes, so there
- 4:09you go, Eric, So I have to do it, especially you're like
- 4:12this where people I know, I think you probably saw a coworker with I
- 4:15voted stick or you're like, what'd you vote for? It? Right?
- 4:17Hell's going on? But now you should really go on the Twitter account and
- 4:20put some of the best responses for those. Some of them were just I
- 4:26mean, some of them were just classic and I'm actually going to steal some
- 4:30of them for Yes, you're going to get those responses from me, like,
- 4:32hey, you ready to start the show. I'm going to blast back,
- 4:35yes, yeah, Should I tell them the best one? I mean,
- 4:39I mean we we're always making explicit Okay, the first one you got
- 4:41was the best one. The first response that I got it was fantastic.
- 4:45So I send out the text blast to folks reminding them that election day is
- 4:49November seventh. These are the issues I care about. I hope you remember
- 4:53me when you get to the polls. It was that simple, and it
- 4:56was my stupid face on this graphic, just saying, you know, remember
- 4:59election and first response back was eat shit, leave me alone. And I
- 5:10have to laugh at it. Folks. You know, yes, it's very
- 5:12serious stuff that I was doing. A campaign is very serious during the course
- 5:16of an election cycle, and I take this seriously. The work that I'm
- 5:20going to be doing with my colleagues in the future I take seriously. But
- 5:24you get to a point in a campaign where the feedback that you get from
- 5:29folks sometimes you know, it's it's not all, you know, clean and
- 5:32fun. It's not all clean and fun. You have people who are living,
- 5:36you know, their life and they don't want to be bothered. They
- 5:39don't want to be bothered, and I don't want to bother them. But
- 5:41I know that I needed to do outreach and to eat shit leave me alone?
- 5:46Was it actually just I just started laughing Eric as I should. I
- 5:50mean, it's such a wonderful sentiment because he could have just said leave me
- 5:54alone. He could have said he wants you to eat actual shit and then
- 5:59leave him alone. He wants to kick you in the balls and then walk
- 6:03away from me. I don't want anything to do with you. I also
- 6:05want something bad that happened to you, exactly like I bothered him right there
- 6:10at that moment, And he could have been in the middle of something where
- 6:13he was like, we're all in those situations where you're in the midst of
- 6:16like three different things. You're a little overwhelmed. I got a text message
- 6:20on my phone here, what is this? It's a weird number here,
- 6:25and you open it up and it's my dumb face saying, hey, remember
- 6:28it about what on November seventh. Remember he's like, eat shit, leave
- 6:31me alone. See I go the opposite. I bet you he's just in
- 6:35his awful job hating his life and had every opportunity to like not respond,
- 6:42Okay, he has nothing going on at his desk, and he saw it
- 6:45and was like, you know what, I'm gonna let this guy. Like
- 6:48he's a real professional, a businessman. He's at his desk and he's checking
- 6:54over emails. He's checking some stock prices. Oh, this one's up,
- 6:58this one's down a little bit. Uh, Frankie, can you come in
- 7:01here. Let's take care of this, you know. And he's just like,
- 7:04Oh, I've got a text message here. What is this? What's
- 7:06this number here? No, it's this fucking idiot bother me. I gotta
- 7:15tell you that. Man. Overall the campaign, it actually was just a
- 7:20great experience, you know, as exhausting as it is to do this type
- 7:26of stuff because it is and this is a small level, like I couldn't
- 7:29imagine doing like a US Senate race. Of course, presidential race, could
- 7:32not imagine anything like that. If you're running for governor or something like that,
- 7:36I couldn't imagine it. And yeah, you have staff and you have
- 7:41other folks in your life. And I actually decided, as I've done in
- 7:45the past with few previous races, that I was just going to do everything
- 7:47myself because I trust myself. I know what I want to do when things
- 7:51need to get done. I had my schedule, my timelines, and I
- 7:56know that I just can't do that again, even for a race this size,
- 8:00like from a county perspective, I can't do it because I have way
- 8:03too much stuff going on this podcast that we're very dedicated to. I mean,
- 8:07I have my full time job as well. I have a side business
- 8:13where I'm growing that as well, have my hands in a lot. So
- 8:16next time, if there is a next time, I should say, well,
- 8:20we'll see how this first term goes, see if I want to do
- 8:22a second one. But we're I'm gonna have to probably hire some folks because
- 8:26I just can't do it by myself. Yeah, you just I mean,
- 8:31you're what forty six forty seven, right, forty six forty six, and
- 8:35we're about to have two geriatrics running for president next year and I don't know
- 8:39how those I mean, whether you like them or not, Like, how
- 8:43do dudes in their eighties do that shit? I know, brand of a
- 8:46scale. I mean, that's why I think drugs are just absolutely I don't
- 8:50care which candidate, there has to be something going on, because I don't
- 8:52know how you're in your eighties doing that crap when you're forty six and struggling
- 8:56just to get in a spot in like north eastern Pennsylvania. Yeah, yeah,
- 9:01I do. Like I would. I would door knock on sege.
- 9:05I'm just saying, like, say that it's a you know, a week
- 9:07night, I would door knock maybe like thirty to forty houses or something like
- 9:11that. I'd get home and I'd be like, oh, man, my
- 9:15knees are hurting a little bit, you know, because I mean it's not
- 9:16all flat land and stuff like that. You know, you're walking upstairs,
- 9:20you're walking down you got you know, some of the terrain. It's not
- 9:22I'm not saying I'm walking up Mount Everest or anything like that, but I'm
- 9:26just saying it's a little you know it it can take its toll on you
- 9:28when you're walking door to door. And I know the presidential candidates are walking
- 9:31door to door throughout the United States, but you know it's seriously sometimes after
- 9:39after thirty forty houses, door knocking and stuff and talking to folks, I'm
- 9:43like, man, I'm really tired tonight, and I'm forty six I'm a
- 9:46middle aged white man. Oh dude, I remember in two thousand and seven
- 9:52I helped pass out flyers for you when you run for something in Easton.
- 9:56I forget which one, Houston City Council. Yeah, and I I had
- 10:00we just had our first kid, and I was pushing a stroller up the
- 10:03hills of Easton. It was hot as hell, and I was just plastering
- 10:07those things on doing I was exhausted, and I was like, who wants
- 10:11to do this? I justl like, screw Easton. I don't feel like
- 10:15dealing. I mean, of course I'm happy with the results, and uh,
- 10:22you know, it's a again. It was a It was a great,
- 10:24great experience in general, very tiring, and you have days where you
- 10:28absolutely are energized by what you're doing, and then other days where you know
- 10:35you're like, oh my gosh, is this going to be worth it too?
- 10:37Because you just don't know how the elector it's gonna feel on any given
- 10:39day. You really don't, especially you know, especially the media narrative where
- 10:43we're at right now, where the majority of folks are concentrating on polls that
- 10:50we're a Philly sports podcast. By the way, well over ten minutes into
- 10:54this and I'm talking about presidential polls. We have lives outside of the show.
- 10:58We do, yes, but very nervous about some of these presidential polls
- 11:03and how they may have reflected on my particular race, and due to quite
- 11:07frankly, the importance of my race where it is in a swing area of
- 11:11Pennsylvania. So a lot of people were looking at my race and are now
- 11:16looking at the results of this race and trying to determine how that is going
- 11:20to potentially affect Pennsylvania in general for next year during the presidential election. So
- 11:26it's I was, I was a little nervous, you know, day in
- 11:30and day out, I'd feel good and then I'd feel nervous. A lot
- 11:33of ups and downs. Man, It's like it definitely was a roller coaster.
- 11:35Yeah, And I mean, I'm proudy for winning. You did a
- 11:39great job. But Buddy, I simply can't. I'm not going to pass
- 11:43judgment on the show here, but the person you ran against, I'm not
- 11:50maybe not the best candidate. It was his first time. Yeah, it
- 11:54was his first time running. Give him all the credit in the world for
- 11:58throwing throwing it in the ring, but yeah, it didn't necessarily run the
- 12:03most professional campaign. I'll say that. I mean it was like a second
- 12:09round rookie in the NBA, and it was get a couple of good runs
- 12:13in, but you know, overall, like maybe ten ten good games out
- 12:16of seventy two or doing that. Maybe next time, you know, maybe
- 12:18next year, Maybe next time, you know, maybe starting and maybe start
- 12:22off serving your community in another type of capacity, you know, a little
- 12:26more local. Perhaps maybe I don't know, that might be a good idea.
- 12:28I mean I did that for a few terms, you know, in
- 12:31communities that I lived in, got some pretty good experience with that, and
- 12:35at the end of the day, I think that's what really helped, the
- 12:37fact that I did have local government experience that was going to help in terms
- 12:41of help to govern a county here in Pennsylvania. So every community the garbage
- 12:48men exactly. And then oh man, all right, enough of me.
- 12:56You're doing all right overall. I mean, you know, job life,
- 13:00and no one cares, no, what are you talking about? No one
- 13:03cares. I started coaching basketball last week. Yes, yes, I had
- 13:09a horrible interaction with the high school, local high school coach whose kids on
- 13:13the team, and just got really weird. Almost had almost had a what
- 13:20do you call it a not a fight but altercation, an altercation. Yeah,
- 13:24And I had nothing to do with it. He came to me and
- 13:26I had to do with like coaching baseball and his son, and it was
- 13:28just all fucked up. And I just not politics, but like, man,
- 13:33what a weird like just local politic kind of deal with her parents are
- 13:37involved in their kids, and it was just, yeah, it was really
- 13:41weird. It happened. I quit, I was talked into the next day
- 13:46to come back. And I've since seen him and doesn't even acknowledge what happened,
- 13:52doesn't even apologize. Was he actually like talking to you, but he
- 13:56was talking to you or communicating it's at some point and just didn't acknowledge it.
- 14:00He had Oh no, No, he had to talk to me the
- 14:03first time to show me where the balls were in the gym. Oh my
- 14:05god. And he just left and I was like, Okay, I guess
- 14:09we're just going to sweep it under the rug. My hio coach always hit
- 14:13me in the face. A volunteer parent who coaches his son, Oh god,
- 14:18yeah it you know, as as we go through the sporting world with
- 14:24our kids, you know, on this level, it really is the kids
- 14:28just want to have a good time. They just want to enjoy themselves.
- 14:31They want to have a good time. They want a certain level of success,
- 14:35you know, because they want to win whatever it is that they're doing.
- 14:39But man, it's the parents that really take things to the next level
- 14:43over the top. Not every parent, of course, but a lot of
- 14:48parents get so invested in the performance of their kids or how their kids are
- 14:54going to do because it somehow psychologically reflects on them. And I wish parents
- 15:01could just take a step back and see this and guess what, You're not
- 15:05doing any good for your kids in the long run, You're not doing any
- 15:07goods for your community either. Man. Yeah, I mean, and he
- 15:11was. He was so out of line for doing it. I didn't report
- 15:13to anybody because I'm like, I don't want to lose his job. If
- 15:16somebody finds out, that's fine, but I'm not going to be the one
- 15:18reporting. But it's like, you know, he worked that hard to get
- 15:22the head coaching job and at a high school, and it's like because his
- 15:26kid plays sports, now, like our kids make us lose our minds.
- 15:31Sometimes his parents, I know, what I've seen it. I've done it
- 15:33myself maybe a couple of times, but my god, it's I've been texting
- 15:39with a lot of coaches that I know, and all of us we always
- 15:41text each other the same thing. Parents ruin youth league sports. It's never
- 15:46the kids I've had. I've had a couple of ship head kids that were
- 15:48just like this kid, it just sucks. He's not a nice person,
- 15:52right, but I can, like, at least I can get past him
- 15:54by just by coaching him hard, making like making him work hard. But
- 15:58like, it's ten times out of ten, it's the fucking parents that ruin
- 16:03it for everybody. It just sucks so hard. Yeah, it does.
- 16:07It absolutely does. You know what, I'd love to hear some stories out
- 16:11there from you all listen that are listening Philadelphia Sports Table at gmail dot com.
- 16:15I'd love to know, like, and we'd love to read it here
- 16:19on the show too. And you can make the emails and content within it
- 16:23as cryptive as you want, but I'd love to hear some of these stories
- 16:26too, because I hear them. I've seen them, you know, when
- 16:30when my daughter was in gymnastics, I would certainly see it, you know,
- 16:33Eric is living it right now. I'd love to hear some other stuff
- 16:37out there. That is the funny. Par Like, I used to hear
- 16:40these stories, and now that I'm like really involved with the coaching, I'm
- 16:41like, oh, these stories are real, man. And it happened a
- 16:44bunch. Yeah. This was just the latest one. I mean had I
- 16:47had the one coaching au tell me to fuck off in the hallway after a
- 16:51game, right in front of his son, and I was just like,
- 16:52holy crap, this is real. I'm the one at the bar now telling
- 16:57the other coaches and like friends like, yeah, the head coach almost punched
- 17:00me in the face. It's just yeah, yeah, you're living it.
- 17:07Oh my god. Well, folks, we do have a good show.
- 17:11But I do want to say this really quick. You know, I received
- 17:14a I received some very nice dms on Twitter, just some messages over you
- 17:19know, Facebook Messenger, because I'm friends Facebook friends with some of our listeners
- 17:23out there as well. There were a lot of nice messages that came through
- 17:27congratulating me, and I just want to say thank you all very much.
- 17:30And believe it or not, there are some of these some of our listeners
- 17:33out here contributed to my campaign for this county council seat. And would you
- 17:38say, I said, nice, yeah, yeah, yeah, some of
- 17:42some of the listeners contributed and it meant so much. It's a you know,
- 17:48Michelle and I and I was talking to the twins last night. As
- 17:52I've said throughout this whole campaign, and I'm gonna get really really hokey.
- 17:56It's not just about me, like, it's about our family too, Like
- 18:00we all made decisions together, we all were invested in it together. And
- 18:04yes, even though my name was on the ballot, it was us doing
- 18:08it together as a family. And then we were the core. And then
- 18:11outside of the core is the supporters and the people that go door knocking for
- 18:15you, the volunteers, the people who like even I had a family member
- 18:19who was actually stuffing envelopes. Yes, you actually do that these days.
- 18:22Because there was a gated community in a municipality I couldn't get to because it's
- 18:27gated. I wanted to get in there to introduce myself to folks, but
- 18:32I couldn't do it. So I actually had to print off some letters,
- 18:34put my Palm card in the envelope along with the letter and send it to
- 18:37him saying, you know, I'm sorry I wasn't able to meet you face
- 18:41to face, but I hope you'll consider voting for me. And I had
- 18:44somebody who wasn't able to walk very well do that stuffing envelopes for me,
- 18:48and just all the quote little stuff that adds up over the course of a
- 18:52campaign. There's so many individuals out there to thank and to you listeners out
- 18:56there who showed a lot of support, even if you shot off at like
- 19:00I said, a d M or anything over social media. I just I
- 19:03really appreciated it because it was it's something that's it's it's difficult, and it's
- 19:08an extraordinary process and an experience. So I just want to say thank you
- 19:12everybody out there. So I'm imagining you just shaking the bars of the gay
- 19:17trying to get in, screaming into that community. By the way, that
- 19:26was beautiful. Let's get to the dick jokes now, all right? Man,
- 19:30hey man, the Phillies. Man, I think they're talking to Sunny
- 19:33Gray. I wonder what color is underpants? Are gray? Oh? My
- 19:37god? What is that? That hurt? It was meant to just trying
- 19:45to trying to go with the dick joke thing, but it really didn't even
- 19:48have to. I wasn't even around the bend at all with that one.
- 19:52Jesus terrible, all right, but we are going to get into some Phillies
- 19:56talk here enough about our personal lives. But yes, apparently Sonny Gray's camp
- 20:03at this point is talking with the Phillies in a report that did come out
- 20:07today, and the question is could he actually be the number two starter on
- 20:11this Phillies team. I think he could absolutely be the number two starter for
- 20:15the Phillies. But you know, why is this actually happening? Eric?
- 20:18It seems that it's pretty apparent the Phillies are trying to put the squeeze on
- 20:23Aaron Nola's camp early this offseason, based on this conversation with with Sonny Gray's
- 20:30camp here. So, look, what did he do last year? I
- 20:34think he posted a two point seventy nine ERA in one hundred and eighty four
- 20:38innings thirty two starts for the Twins. You know, one of the best
- 20:42campaigns of his eleven year career for sure. And yes, signing Nola was
- 20:48going to be priority number one. But I think what they're trying to do
- 20:52is really put the squeeze on Nola's camp. Here by letting by letting this
- 20:57this news leak out here. And by the way, Sonny Gray is He's
- 21:00thirty four years old at this point too, so I'm not sure how how
- 21:03long of a contract that would be, if this is even a thing at
- 21:07this point. Yeah, the nice thing is that the Phillies have been so
- 21:11successful in the last two three years that they can now They're now like major
- 21:15bidders for top free agents, so they have like multiple options here. Yeah,
- 21:19obviously just resigning a thirty one air Nola back on a team friendly deal
- 21:26would be ideal. Or but there's gonna be a bunch of teams going after
- 21:30him Nola pretty hard, including prompt I'm assuming the Orioles, Cardinals, maybe
- 21:33even the Braves, who knows. But I like the cheaper, the cheaper
- 21:41option of Sonny Gray. He may actually made the All Star team last year.
- 21:44I was looking at this some of his stats as like advanced stats.
- 21:48He led the league in FIP last year, which is like the fielding.
- 21:52Basically, he doesn't give up home runs. He led the league in that
- 21:56as well as home runs per nine, whereas or Nola is kind of a
- 22:00gives up gives up quite a bit home quite a bit of home runs,
- 22:03and he'd be a cheaper, cheaper option Sunny Gray. But because they're so
- 22:07successful and they're they're willing to spend, I think, why not go into
- 22:11the sweepstakes for like Otani? Why not go into I would love to have
- 22:15to sign. I would love for them to sign I'm going to go for
- 22:18this uh Yoshi Nobu Yamamoto, Oh my girl, Japanese pitcher. Nice,
- 22:25that's going to be coming into the major leagues next year. I mean,
- 22:29he would be a phenomenal option there. I mean, the Yankees are gonna
- 22:32bit hard for him, quite a bit of money. I'm sure they'll go
- 22:33after Otani as well. But why not throw your hat in the ring for
- 22:37something like that, because you you know, you're in the World Series two
- 22:40years ago, you were one game from it. This past year, you
- 22:42have the success. Now, why not go after a twenty five year old
- 22:45ace? You know, in light of like Zach Wheeler getting older, And
- 22:49if if only they could sign him just so you'd have to like pronounce his
- 22:55name every show like that, that would be the best part of signing him,
- 22:57honestly, would you, I would make you make you stay his whole
- 23:02name. I practice it like ten times before we did the show. Did
- 23:04you okay? Look? Gone are the days of Matt Kleintech just idly sitting
- 23:14by not making too much noise during the start of the off season. Those
- 23:19days are long gone. And like I feel like we have this type of
- 23:23communication coming from the Phillies in front of us Eric where they can they could
- 23:30potentially get yo Yo Yoshinobu Yamamoto. Did I get it? It's pretty good?
- 23:37Yeah, all right, Blake Snell possibly Sonny Gray, those those names
- 23:41a little easier for me. Uh So they could potentially get these guys now.
- 23:47And the dialogue is starting now. It's not starting whether it's after the
- 23:52the you know, GM meetings and and uh the owners meetings, I should
- 23:57say. And it's not heading into January like it was a lot with Matt
- 24:03Kleintech. They're attacking, they're aggressive within free agency. Now there seems to
- 24:08be a formula for the Philadelphia Phillies, not just in terms of, you
- 24:14know, what they want to do in terms of free agents, but the
- 24:17communication process I think is so important here. And you know what, if
- 24:21they're trying to squeeze Aaronola a little bit here. Yeah, squeeze them a
- 24:25little bit too. I mean, this is a team that still is going
- 24:29to have a window of opportunity to go to the World Series, I think
- 24:32next year, and I would think Aaronola believes that as well. I would
- 24:36think that he would probably want to potentially stay in Philadelphia, possibly because of
- 24:41that, because of his relationships that he has with teammates, perhaps some other
- 24:45other circumstances as well. So I just think it's really smart of this Phillies
- 24:51front office to do what they're doing early on here, and especially with addressing
- 24:56one of the biggest needs on the team heading into this offseason. So I
- 24:59guess what I'm saying here, Eric is those are doing a damn good job
- 25:02in terms of where they want to position this team in the future. I
- 25:07agree, And I mean Matt Clintac just sent a shiver down my spine.
- 25:10Yeah, full GM. But they picked a great season or a great offseason
- 25:15to have this dilemma because there's a lot of options. You just mentioned Blank
- 25:18Snow he's probably the fifth best or sixth best free agent of the market.
- 25:22Noel's probably fourth or fifth. So but there's other there's other arms Marcus Stroman's
- 25:27out there. Yeah. And I also love the aggressiveness of this team.
- 25:32They just they just they just traded for a relief pitcher from the Tampa Bay
- 25:37Rays. I forget his name already. Yeah, I'm forgetting too. Yeah,
- 25:40But I just like those little moves like that that could that could come
- 25:44like like next June, all of a sudden, he's he's killing it in
- 25:47triple A and you call him up. You're like, what the hell's where
- 25:49did you get this guy? Like, oh, yeah, they sign him
- 25:52in freaking November or trade it form November. Yeah, in the race have
- 25:56such a track record of like great arms. So I just like how they
- 26:00make these little moves and they can even do a free agency too, where
- 26:04it's not it's a little bigger of a move, right signing up Blake Snow,
- 26:07but they have they have options, and I Michael Mercato, Sorry,
- 26:11Michael Mercatto, Michael Ricatto Yeah yeah, left handed, Yes, yeah,
- 26:15go ahead, I'm sorry, he's a right hander. Sorry, yeah,
- 26:18And I'm I mean, I'm hoping it's just no. They just resigned Nolan,
- 26:21that's just it. But if they did go with the Sunny, Grain
- 26:25got another cheaper like like third or fourth option, because they still have Swore
- 26:29as they still have Teywan Walker who didn't pitch in the postseason back had a
- 26:33really good regular season. Yeah, if they let Nola walk, if he
- 26:37gets a gigantic deal from the Cardinals or something like that like that, it's
- 26:38not going to be the end of the world. Yeah, I absolutely agreed.
- 26:41Let us know what you're thinking out there, Philadelphia Sports Table at gmail
- 26:45dot com. Love to hear your thoughts on the Phillies, how the off
- 26:48season would look perfectly for you as a fan, Like what that perfect off
- 26:53season would look like. So Eric, let's move on to the Philadelphia seventy
- 26:57six ers because it's only cow and this team, Holy cow, they look
- 27:03really good. Man. They are better than they than what we thought they
- 27:07would be at this particular point. I know it's early in the season,
- 27:10of course, but man, we're seeing some really good stuff. Man.
- 27:14We said before before the show, before we hit the record button. Man,
- 27:18Tyres Maxi is hitting those floaters and it looks beautiful. Tyres Maxy and
- 27:23his development. We are seeing it more and more. Game after game,
- 27:27Nick Nurse implementing an offense and actually having these guys playing some defense too,
- 27:33which is fantastic. I'm not gonna sit here and say old, you know,
- 27:37Doc was the entire problem. He was definitely part of the problem.
- 27:40I think we know and see that now. But the Nick Nurse has these
- 27:45guys pointed in the right direction here. This has been a fun early part
- 27:48of this sixer season. Yeah, you've got a super engaged embiid. I
- 27:53think the day Harden left, a lot of weight went off his shoulders.
- 27:56Oh yeah, and a lot of weight went off the shoulders the fans in
- 27:59the front office because I think the chances of him sticking around and like really
- 28:03playing hard, they they they increased, you know, incredibly, like huge
- 28:10percentage wise, because that was gonna that was gonna crumble. And I said
- 28:12in the show last week, like, thank god they did it three games
- 28:15in. I don't know, still not sure how they did it. We
- 28:18talked about in the show the Clippers have bit it against themselves. Great job,
- 28:22front office. But I was at the game Monday night. My brother
- 28:26and I went and saw the whiz wiz Sixers game real quick on the Wizards
- 28:30for thirty seconds. One of the saddest teams I've ever seen live. Like
- 28:37I looked at my brother in the second quarter and I'm like, you know,
- 28:40if if they had like one or two like really young, good young
- 28:44players, they could they could be excited about, like at least they'd have
- 28:48some hope. Like that team has no hope. Their coach is awful,
- 28:52he made horrible decisions. No one plays defense at all. They just try
- 28:55and shoot and score and there's not a single player on that roster to get
- 28:57you excited. And he's just like, Wow, this is a no man's
- 29:00land, shit team. I'm sure they're tanking for this year, but wow,
- 29:03just a sad team. But the s and the Sixers did what they're
- 29:07supposed to do and be put up twenty nine points in the third quarter,
- 29:10the most by a Sixer in team history in a single quarter. They just
- 29:15demolished them. And tonight, you know, the Celtics are really damn good.
- 29:18And I said this to my brother on Monday night. It's like,
- 29:22it's so nice having a team of professionals who give a shit and play really
- 29:27hard and know their role and being coached by an absolute professional who like gets
- 29:33that and pushes them really really hard to play good defense. And like the
- 29:37game offensive basketball, like Nick Nurse is a damn good coach. Man.
- 29:41I'm so happy that bustdonn't sign him. I think that that would have been
- 29:44ideal for him. I'm so we haven't had a like, we have not
- 29:48had a good coach. It's been a long time. Brett Brown was not
- 29:51a good coach. Doc was not a good in game coach, you know.
- 29:53And he let his superstars run the show. And this dude doesn't take
- 29:56that shit. He makes him play defense. He's unleashed MAXI, who works
- 30:00on his game every off season. You can tell his shooting gets better and
- 30:03better. I told you before the show, like his body control at the
- 30:07rim when he's finishing. He had one in the third or fourth quarter against
- 30:11Jalen Brown where he just put his big, thick, but six' two
- 30:15body end of Jalen Brown is an awesome defender and just kind of use Brown's
- 30:19body to kind of maneuver his own body to make a layup. And I'm
- 30:22like, you can't teach that. That's just like innate from playing years and
- 30:26years of basketball. But and the big thing too, and I said this
- 30:30before the show too, was like they have the perfect scenario of a team
- 30:36of multiple veterans who are playing for in their next contract on expiring deals,
- 30:41Tobias Harris being one, obviously, Kelly oubre Melton. I mean everyone on
- 30:45the roster outside of like Maxine and b don't count, but everyone else in
- 30:48the roster is playing for a new deal, and they are playing and they're
- 30:52being coached by a guy it doesn't give a shits. He probably understands it
- 30:56too, Like you want another contract, you're gonna play my way. You're
- 30:59gonna like freaking hard. And that's why they're sixty to one right now.
- 31:02And I'm I'm actually like way way up on the sixers, Like we need
- 31:07to start talking about, Okay, what can they do? Can they make
- 31:10it? I don't want to make it in like a mega deal, which
- 31:12they could if they wanted to, but like, how can they supplement what
- 31:15they have now and not screw up the chemistry? Because Nurse is an awesome
- 31:19coach and he won the title in twenty nineteen with a one superstar. He
- 31:23has like one and a half superstars right now with plenty of ammunition to go
- 31:27get you know, some other pieces, and you gotta start talking, you
- 31:32know, after this win tonight, Like, where are they at in the
- 31:33NBA landscape? It's they're they're at least they're they're in the conversations. Yeah,
- 31:38look, I know, we we know what in b is doing on
- 31:41the court. We know Tyrese Maxi in terms of how he has been developing
- 31:45in just about all aspects of his game. But I have to mention one
- 31:49guy, and he is averaging almost twenty points a game, nineteen point seven
- 31:55points per game. His field goal percentage is sixty three point. He's ranked
- 32:00tenth in the NBA as of us recording this, and that is one Tobias
- 32:05Harris. Holy crap. Yes, like you mentioned, you know, in
- 32:08a contract year. Of course, of course this is the type of you
- 32:13know, productivity we're getting from him, and it's fantastic productivity. But man,
- 32:17like, it just goes to show the healthy balance that Nick Nurse has
- 32:22brought to this team. I think, allowing players to do what they do
- 32:27best, but also kicking their ass when they need to be kicked, coaching
- 32:31when he really does need to be coached. Finding that healthy balance, I
- 32:35think is what Nick Nurse has really brought to this team and the organization in
- 32:38general. Where you got Tobias Harris doing what he's doing, becoming a very
- 32:44very relevant piece of this team. Eric and like, I mean, how
- 32:47many times is it like, oh my god to Bias Okay, Oh,
- 32:51it's great. You know he put up he put up twenty five this game
- 32:53where he put up you know, twenty twenty two, this game great.
- 32:55He's giving a lot of consistency to this team. And that consistency, I
- 33:01think if it remains this, they are really going to be contending in the
- 33:07East here, not just because of Tobias Harris, but just as a piece
- 33:10of the puzzle to finding that balance and because of the way nurse coaches like
- 33:17Oubray and Harris are just absolute beneficiaries. Yeah, Maxine embid trying double teams
- 33:23and they're they're probably Harris for sure is like overqualified as a fourth best player
- 33:30who's going to be open a whole bunch, right. You know the reason
- 33:32he's shooting sixty three percent, he's got wide open. Looks like he's wide
- 33:37open. He's not getting covered at all. And I know they played some
- 33:39bad teams. I just talked about the Wizards, but they've beat the Celtics,
- 33:44they've beat the Suns. Should beat the Bucks in Game one, and
- 33:49I couldn't be happier. And I'm not surprised Harris is having a good season
- 33:52because of the contract year, but also just the way the season's playing out
- 33:57so far with Maxdine and Bed just taking over. It's like, like,
- 34:00dude, you're going to get your shots, just freaking make them. Nurse
- 34:02is such a good coach that I'm sure he's pressing Maxine and be like,
- 34:06hey, he's going to be open, give it to him, you know,
- 34:08right, he's playing for a contract. He's not saying that out loud,
- 34:12but like, I'm going to use this to my advantage. It's worked
- 34:15out really well. Cool. And Ubray Uber is such a like I'm kind
- 34:20of shocked by Ubra eighteen point seven points a game, just a he's always
- 34:25been an underachiever. Maybe he found his right team. Maybe he's you know,
- 34:29on a it's also the expiring deal thing, but he's going to make
- 34:32a big money contract next year, probably not with us, but I'll take
- 34:37the I'll take the effort in getting that contract. Yeah. Absolutely, Again,
- 34:40we'd love to know what you're thinking about this six Ers team. Philadelphia

- 35:25your way, so stick with us. We'll be right back. All right,
- 35:29We are back and Eric, I thought it was interesting this past week,
- 35:34as many who watch and follow football that won. Aaron Rodgers said that
- 35:38he'd be back in a few weeks, and then he walked that back day
- 35:43later and said, well, I'll be back in a few fortnights. Thank
- 35:47you Eron for that one. He's like, look the guy's looking to return
- 35:51this season, and I think you know Aaron Rodgers, you know, he's
- 35:55now known as more of a caricature, I think within the sports world,
- 36:00especially the football world, and I think I think it would be amazing if
- 36:06he did actually come back from a torn achilles this season that he suffered in
- 36:10Game one the first quarter. I think it was only four snaps until that
- 36:15achilles went out on him. But I wonder if it like shows his fortitude
- 36:20in a way. Maybe I'm giving him too much credit. Maybe it shows
- 36:23that sports medicine is doing some incredible things out there. Or maybe this is
- 36:28just Aaron Rodgers like being a dope, you know, because we know Aaron
- 36:35Rodgers and his brand what they are. I don't know what were your thoughts
- 36:37on this when you heard it, because I mean, I know you're not
- 36:40probably not the biggest Aaron Rodgers fan, but I thought, boy, if
- 36:45he could actually come back this season, like even maybe in a month,
- 36:47that would be that would be like unheard of. You know, I don't
- 36:52know what are your thoughts here. I mean, he's one of those guys
- 36:53that thinks, you know, you can go live in the woods for a
- 36:55month and just eat mushrooms and shit, and he'll everything any ailment in your
- 37:00body. You know, I take them seriously as an NFL quarterback. I
- 37:07don't take them seriously in any other arena of life. Like it just he
- 37:10just says dumb shit. He has like a weekly spot on some bad radio
- 37:15show, likes bad sports talk show, and he just says dumb Pat McAfee
- 37:19show. Sure, whatever, But you know, and always honestly when I
- 37:27read the topic, and I've been thinking this for a while, you know
- 37:29how comedians, a lot of comedians who like just get older and like and
- 37:35just bitter and they're not really funny anymore, and a lot of them turn
- 37:37to they become conservative comics, like a Rob Schneider. Yes, just not
- 37:43funny anymore. Maybe it was never funny, but they reach a point in
- 37:46life where they're just the humor that got them to where they are in their
- 37:51profession is kind of gone. They're super rich, and they go the easy
- 37:57route of conservative comedy where you just talk about woke and ship and you know,
- 38:00and those those idiots, the you know, the freaking seals flap their
- 38:06their fins together. What do we want to call it? He reminds me
- 38:08of that, Like he might have been interesting at some point in his life,
- 38:12but now he's not, and he's not as as irrelevant of course,
- 38:15mean he hasn't. He doesn't even play anymore. He's not gonna play it
- 38:19all this year. So he just says like outrageous ship and I mean all
- 38:22off season, off season in the past three years, he just says,
- 38:25dumb shit. It's just to keep himself like relevant. Yeah. I don't
- 38:30know, It's just he bores me to death. And I can only imagine
- 38:34what his post NFL career, what that's gonna look like. It's gonna be
- 38:37hideous. Oh, that's that's actually a pretty good topic. Let's predict Aaron
- 38:39Rodgers and his post NFL season, his post NFL career. My gosh,
- 38:46we should actually do a good bit on that at some point, because he
- 38:51just he loves himself a lot. He loves himself a lot. How is
- 38:55he going to remain relevant in whatever sphere he decides to you know, you
- 39:00know, dive into. Because I doubt it'll be football. I doubt it.
- 39:04He's not going to be an announcer. He's not gonna be He's not
- 39:07gonna be in the booth. He's not going to be in the studio,
- 39:10you know, give given halftime analysis, none of that stuff he's got.
- 39:15He's gonna have to do something really bizarre to keep our attention, or at
- 39:19least to keep the sports media's attention. That's a good that's a good topic
- 39:22down the road. I like that, Buddy Well, And he crossed over
- 39:25into a scary territory for some people who like get a lot of money.
- 39:30He's he's he's had his ass kissed for for ages, right, Yeah,
- 39:34he's a bazillionaire and he's been told that you're awesome for how many howver many
- 39:38years. Now that he's crossed over into the he truly believes that he's witty
- 39:43and charming, yes, and deep at the same time. Yeah, he's
- 39:45really analytical and he really he's a deep thinker. It's like he's like,
- 39:51don't believe that he's one of the good. Don't believe the media. Yeah
- 39:53you sheep, he's one of those types. And you're just like, dude,
- 39:58someone he's in knock you down a couple of pegs in life. He
- 40:00never will because he's too far gone. It directs in the rich direction.
- 40:04But like that's what it strikes me. And that's why. Because of that,
- 40:07and he's so like his head's sewing the clouds and he's been told he's
- 40:13been his ass kiss for twenty some years. I can't wait to see what
- 40:15his next step is in his career because it's gonna be really dumb. It's
- 40:19gonna be something we're gonna make fun of. He's not gonna be on TV.
- 40:22He's not gonna be football related. Nobody's gonna hire him, right,
- 40:24but he's gonna be doing dumb shows like then what he does and just saying
- 40:28dumb shit. So I'm but I would love to have a show like that,
- 40:30like an actual I like to have like a couple of minutes sit down
- 40:32and figure out what his career is going to look like. I love it.
- 40:36I love that because after what he did this past offseason, if you
- 40:38remember, he spent what four days in a one room house in the dark
- 40:43at some unannounced location or something like that to figure out what he wanted to
- 40:46do with his career before deciding and signing with the Jets. But I love
- 40:52that he's like announced, he had to announce it. I'm gonna be spending
- 40:54four days in a dark room to figure this out out, like thanks,
- 41:01Buddy's there's millions of Americans everywhere doing that all the time. Yeah, yes,
- 41:07all these people. Yep, you're not special, pal. Yes,
- 41:10it's not the big a deal. Yeah. All right. Well, keeping
- 41:14keeping on here with some NFL and then as we get into some Eagles talk
- 41:19as well. We're a little over what halfway done with this season, and
- 41:22it's interesting to look at some of the potential MVP candidates, Rookie of the
- 41:27Year candidates. So we have at the agenda this week just you know what
- 41:30we're looking at. Who the potential MVP candidates are. Of course, Lamar
- 41:35Jackson is up there. Jalen Hurts certainly has to be up there as well.
- 41:39I think those guys are probably the two leading candidates at this point,
- 41:44Eric and I think if they are here as we're heading into the Eagles by
- 41:47week ten, and after what Lamar Jackson has been doing this year, my
- 41:52gosh, I don't think anybody thought he was going to be playing like this,
- 41:55especially after representing himself getting his contract. I just you know, so
- 42:00you get the contract and you just don't play as well. But he has
- 42:04been killing it this year. I don't know. What do you think in
- 42:06terms of leading candidates for MVP, Lamar Jackson, Jalen Hurts. What are
- 42:09you thinking? Look, I'm a jailing guy, but I don't think it's
- 42:15even close. I think I think Lamar Jackson is the MVP. That's what
- 42:17I'm thinking at this point. Yeah, kind of by far. I mean
- 42:20this right now here, a week ten, Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 42:22right right now. And he has better stats than Jalen Hurts, but it
- 42:25doesn't matter. Jalen Hurts has the best offensive line in football in front of
- 42:30him and tons and tons of weapons. You look at what Lamar Jackson has.
- 42:35He's got a good offensive line in some weapons. But the stuff he's
- 42:37been doing and having that team, I think they're what's seven and two?
- 42:39Yeah, when people were kind of predicting a five hundred team, five hundred
- 42:44record for that team, Yeah, they were not high in them. And
- 42:45he's man. Talk about talk about the greatest result possible of betting on yourself
- 42:53in the representing himself to get his contract, not that year, oodles of
- 42:58money with an agent, and my god, he went out like he signed
- 43:01a monster deal. Went into the season kind of not controversial, but like
- 43:07had a lot of critics like, you didn't play well last year. You
- 43:12like you made some weird comments about the Ravens not wanting to sign you,
- 43:15and he was not the most popular player even in Baltimore going into this season.
- 43:20And he's just shut everyone up. He's just he's so damn good.
- 43:22He's going to have a bad game or two here and there. He's not
- 43:25perfect, but this season, Pat Mahomes has not been perfect. Jalen Hurts
- 43:31absolutely has not been perfect. Eight interceptions this year. If Lamar keeps playing
- 43:36like this and the Ravens win their division and get like a one or two
- 43:38seed, I'm pretty sure he's got that locked up. Yeah, I agree.
- 43:42I think it's Lamar Jackson at this point. But it's interesting to also
- 43:45look at what is happening from the Rookie of the Year conversation and those possible
- 43:51candidates as well. And I think, especially after this past week c J.
- 43:55Stroud, which absolutely amazes me that we are seeing in Ohio state quarterback
- 44:00coming into the league rookie year with such a success. You you just don't
- 44:06see that, You really don't see that happening. And my gosh, what
- 44:10an incredible quarterback. So far, he's only got one interception on the season,
- 44:15He's got what seventeen touchdowns. I think as of us recording this just
- 44:19an incredible, incredible candidate. Then then again, you have Pukinakua wide receiver
- 44:24for the Rams, just having a monster season two. I think at the
- 44:29end of the day, the NFL likes to give these awards out to quarterbacks.
- 44:32Quarterbacks are really the faces of the NFL, you know, for a
- 44:37lot of cities, a lot of teams. So I would think that the
- 44:39leading candidate this year for Rookie of the Year, and it probably makes sense
- 44:43is CJ. Stroud at this point heading into week ten. Yeah, I
- 44:46don't think it's even closed. I think Stroud's going to run away with it.
- 44:51All the controversy of should be Bryce Young or CJ. Stroud, it's
- 44:54like, man, he put that to bed. I mean, Bryce might
- 44:59be good sometime, Holy crap, man, he's really good. The Texans
- 45:02are four and four, he's got it absolutely locked up. If if you
- 45:06can get them like a seven seeds somehow, or even like they win their
- 45:08division somehow, because it's not a great division, it's that would be one
- 45:14of those almost unanimous like m uh unanimous votes right that the kid for the
- 45:22Rams is gonna have to have like awesome games going forward. But their quarterback
- 45:25situation, I can't see that happening. And they had three points this past
- 45:28Sunday. Yeah, so I think Stroud's gonna run away with it. All.
- 45:31Right, let's get into some Eagles talk here before we get to our
- 45:35next break and before we get to our interview this week, because what we're
- 45:38throwing down on the table is our good buddy, Jeff Kerr from CBS Sports.
- 45:43He's going to join us talk about the Eagles and a little bit more
- 45:45detailed some of the challenges are going to be facing after the bye week here.
- 45:49But Eric and I wanted to get into this Eagles team in terms of
- 45:53the fact that this is a top team in the NFL and what I see,
- 45:59whether it's on social sites, you know, whether it's in various articles
- 46:04just conversations in general, everybody's like so worried about the Chiefs, the Bills,
- 46:08the forty nine ers and then second meeting against the Cowboys after this bye
- 46:13week, and I'm kind of sitting back thinking to myself, Eric, I'm
- 46:15like, the Eagles record wise, are the best and top team in the
- 46:21National Football League. They are at the top, and they are finding ways
- 46:25to win games while not being quote perfect, but they are doing such a
- 46:31good job from a defensive front standpoint to kind of mask the absolute terrible secondary
- 46:37play that we are seeing and on offense, when the Chips are down,
- 46:42they could be down by double digits and Jalen Hurts we were just talking about,
- 46:46you know, is going to bring that inevitably bring them back. We
- 46:51are seeing this consistently over and over and over, folks. I don't I'm
- 46:57not as concerned about the Chiefs, the Bills, the nine Ers, Cowboys
- 47:00after this bye week. Are they gonna be some tough games? I think
- 47:05so. They're gonna be pretty competitive, Eric, But like, I'm not
- 47:08like so concerned about ever. Everybody's like, oh, they're just gonna these
- 47:12teams are just gonna, you know, take it to them. Really,
- 47:15you think so after what we've seen this year, Like I the Chiefs out
- 47:17in Kansas City, I think is gonna be tough. I really think that's
- 47:21gonna be a tough game for them to win. If it was at the
- 47:22Link, I think the Eagles are gonna win that game. There was something
- 47:25about that home field advantage out in Kansas City that really means something, not
- 47:30just to that Chiefs team, but just to you know, whether it's Andy
- 47:34Reid. You know, I believe that they they're gonna be competitive in these
- 47:38games. But I think these games are absolutely winnable and they're not gonna win
- 47:43all of them, I don't think. But anyway, I wanted to get
- 47:45your thoughts on this too, because I think folks kind of need to comic
- 47:47down just a little bit. This Eagles team is a really good team.
- 47:53This is just outrageous even saying these four teams are better than the Eagles.
- 47:58It's it's right. The Bill's defense is a disaster. Everyone's hurt. Their
- 48:04quarterback looks like shit, I'm not gonna lie. He makes three or four
- 48:07bad throws every game. He looks he just he has no weapons. Pat
- 48:10Mahomes is having it down year. He has no weapons outside of Travis Kelce.
- 48:15Have you seen a receiver like wide open on that team. You can't
- 48:19just let wide receivers keep walking out of the system and be like, well,
- 48:22we'll just get another one because we have Pat Mahomes, Like, well,
- 48:23this year, it's not happening. I've seen. I've seen multiple stats
- 48:27where his his time in the pocket is much greater this year. The van
- 48:34stats of like wide receivers being open. It's just not happening with that team.
- 48:37You canell he's having a rough season. He is really quick, really
- 48:40quick just to piggyback off that. And yes, I know this is fantasy
- 48:44football, but I'm actually in a standard league where I actually drafted Patrick Mahomes.
- 48:49I was able to get him, and I've wanted to get him in
- 48:51this league for a long time. And my backup quarterback was Baker Mayfield,
- 48:54Okay, because you got to you just have to have two quarterbacks in this
- 48:58league. So there have been three weeks thus far where I should have started
- 49:02Baker Mayfield over and I'm talking like by significant margins, and that means in
- 49:07the fantasy world by like you know, by like four or five points in
- 49:12a standard league. You're absolutely right, Patrick Mahomes is not having a good
- 49:16season when I should be starting Baker Mayfield on my fantasy teams instead of Pat
- 49:22Mahomes. Dear God, it just reminds me like we have a system here.
- 49:27We can just plug in any player we need it's like, no,
- 49:30no, that's once you run out of receivers, it's just not gonna happen.
- 49:32Like the Eagles recognized that two years ago and went out and got some
- 49:37absolute weapons for Jalen Hurts and put them in a great spot to succeed the
- 49:42cow Get the fucking Cowboys out of here. I don't know, we just
- 49:45beat them. I watched Dak step out of bounds. You know, he
- 49:50screwed up. He always screws up, Yes, and that's his thing,
- 49:52you know. And the forty nine Ers, super talented team, who's their
- 49:58quarterback? Come on, manrock or who is a Sam Darnold is the back?
- 50:02Like they made one of the worst draft picks of all time a couple
- 50:06of years ago getting that quarterback, and then these trade them for nothing,
- 50:09Like I hope that trade has discussed this offseason. If the Niners, like
- 50:15don't make the Super Bowl, because that that has to be a blemish on
- 50:17the GMS record. Man, that is such a disastrous move. And they
- 50:22really thought they're going to be have a quarterback for the next ten years and
- 50:24then they're in the spot there and now I think we're like head and shoulders
- 50:29about these other teams, these four teams, Yeah, I do too.
- 50:31I think folks were all we all need to calm down, you know,
- 50:35yeah, I mean the Chiefs game is gonna be tough. You know,
- 50:37they're going to bring their a game. They're gonna absolutely try and beat us.
- 50:40And you know what, if Eagles do lose that game, number one,
- 50:44it doesn't hurt you in the division or in the conference, and it
- 50:46probably gives them some confidence, the Chiefs. But you know, go ahead
- 50:52take that confidence in the middle of the season. Who cares, Like if
- 50:55we meet the Super Bowl again, I honestly think we beat them this time.
- 50:59So I'm not or fold that at all. And again, none of
- 51:01these teams scare me whatsoever. The Cowboys wok. Probably the scariest team left
- 51:06in the NFC. I mean, the Niners two, but we just beat
- 51:08them at home. Probably should have beaten them by more. That's my only
- 51:12fears. The Eagles are not stepping on team's throats, right, But there's
- 51:15so much. They're so talented that they can almost get away like that Redskins.
- 51:21Redskins the com Sorry, I'm gonna get more hate mail. I know,
- 51:24Race it's redskin guy, But that game, right, there. That
- 51:30was a perfect example of like, they're just so fucking good that they can
- 51:35beat a team that is so repped up and they're playing their super Bowl,
- 51:37you know, that's that's become super Bowl. Yeah, and still beat them
- 51:40and there's just nothing they could do about it. And every team's throwing their
- 51:45best game at us and we're still winning. So there you go. There
- 51:49you said it. Let's uh, let's hear what you have to say.
- 51:51Philadelphia Sports Table at gmail dot com. And we are going to take our
- 51:54break here a last break here, Eric, have anything else body before?
- 52:00Let you go here. Nope, I'm old. It's ten forty seven pm.
- 52:04It's time to go to bed. We're gonna take our break. We'll
- 52:07be right back, all right, folks, we are back. Let's get
- 52:10to what we are thrown down on the table this week. Jeff Kerr from
- 52:14CBS Sports. Always love talking to him, especially about this Eagles team.
- 52:17And we're gonna get in some of the challenges this team is gonna be facing
- 52:21here after this bye week. It's what we're thrown down on the table and
- 52:24now on the table. All right, we are back, and unfortunately,
- 52:32our guest this week, Jeff Kerr had a family situation that he needed to
- 52:37tend to during the time that we were gonna be recording this particular interview and
- 52:40discussion about the Philadelphia Eagles and the challenges that are gonna be persisting during the
- 52:45second half of this season. So we are not going to have that interview,
- 52:50and quite frankly, I just don't want to keep talking about the Eagles
- 52:55just to put content out there for the for the sake of it, quite
- 52:59frankly, so we are going to end this podcast show this week right now.
- 53:04Hopefully we will have Jeff or another guest at some point next week on
- 53:08to talk about this Eagles team because I really want to get in the challenges
- 53:12that they're going to face. You know, from a running back perspective,
- 53:16what has happened with the Eagles running game. That's something I really want to
- 53:21get into with a guest and get some feedback on it. We'd love to
- 53:23hear from you as well the secondary, how the linebacker Corr has been doing
- 53:29as well. So I want to get into this Eagles team more in the
- 53:31future. Again, big thanks to Eric as always for jumping on. I
- 53:36have the best podcast co hosts out there. That's going to do it for
- 53:39us folks. You all take caaring. We'll catch you next time.
