- 0:50Speaker 3: your former Hallmark hater. Today we're discussing a season for Family.
- 0:54Speaker 3: You might notice that this did air a couple of weeks.
- 0:57Speaker 4: Ago, but we're back with a I call it scheduling gymnastics.
- 1:02Speaker 4: That's exactly right.
- 1:04Speaker 3: If you want to connect with us outside of the podcast,

- 1:19Speaker 4: if you want to check it out. I'm very proud
- 1:23Speaker 4: of that group where we're there. Me too, me, especially
- 1:26Speaker 4: after yesterday. And if you know, you know, I don't
- 1:29Speaker 4: know if you don't hop in.
- 1:31Speaker 3: It's the holiday season and it's nice to give things.
- 1:34Speaker 3: And one of the things you as listeners can give
- 1:36Speaker 3: is a five star rating and review of this podcast.
- 1:40Speaker 3: And I'd like to read a recent review because they
- 1:42Speaker 3: make us feel good. This one is titled well Researched
- 1:44Speaker 3: and fun. There are a lot of Hallmark podcasts to
- 1:46Speaker 3: choose from. Girls Gone Hallmark is a fun podcast where
- 1:50Speaker 3: they share their point of view on movies, even if
- 1:53Speaker 3: they're not so keen on some. You don't feel bummed
- 1:55Speaker 3: that you have an opposite opinion or insulted like some
- 1:58Speaker 3: other places. This is like hanging out with your friends
- 2:01Speaker 3: and chatting about your favorite movies.
- 2:03Speaker 4: Heyks, so nice, that's so nice. Also, I want to say,
- 2:07Speaker 4: if you found us from our appearance on deck the Hallmark, hey, thanks,
- 2:11Speaker 4: we love having you here too.
- 2:13Speaker 3: That is right, thank you for coming on over in
- 2:16Speaker 3: the Hallmark World. Obviously they're not like Fast and Furious
- 2:19Speaker 3: droppin' news this time of year. You know everyone's got
- 2:22Speaker 3: their office notifications on. But on Christmas Day they are
- 2:26Speaker 3: running a marathon of twenty twenty three movies, which works
- 2:31Speaker 3: out to twelve movies in a twenty four hour period.
- 2:33Speaker 3: And I think it's some interesting choices. Would you like
- 2:36Speaker 3: to hear what they are?
- 2:37Speaker 4: I would love it?
- 2:39Speaker 3: Starting at one oh one am with where are You Christmas?
- 2:42Speaker 3: Good solid choice, I think I followed by our Christmas Mural.
- 2:48Speaker 3: Then we ram back up with missed It Christmas?
- 2:50Speaker 4: And then Christmas with a kiss? Do you think it's
- 2:54Speaker 4: like one good one when not so good one?
- 2:57Speaker 3: Well, then we go navigating Christmas, then we go everything Christmases,
- 3:04Speaker 3: then we go magic and Mistletoe. Then we ramp back
- 3:07Speaker 3: up with hal of the Holly lid up. Continue the
- 3:09Speaker 3: fund with Christmas Island seven pm. In that primetime spot,
- 3:13Speaker 3: we have a builtmore Christmas the feel good feels, continue
- 3:16Speaker 3: with the Heidelberg Holiday and we round it out with
- 3:20Speaker 3: some good old fashioned eye candy and flipping for Christmas.
- 3:24Speaker 4: Ah interesting it slipping for Christmas on at like eleven
- 3:29Speaker 4: PM ten eleven pm. Oh yeah, okay, so they put
- 3:34Speaker 4: their their best performing movies in the biggest, most watched
- 3:39Speaker 4: time slots. Well, them are an interesting choice to me,
- 3:42Speaker 4: Oh for sure, for sure, not even some of my
- 3:45Speaker 4: favorite movies there. I think there were better movies this
- 3:50Speaker 4: season than what's on that lineup. I wanted to ask
- 3:53Speaker 4: you on Christmas Day in the evening, do you sit
- 3:55Speaker 4: down and watch TV movies? Usually we will.
- 3:58Speaker 3: Our Christmas Day is more like lunch, Like we eat
- 4:01Speaker 3: around two o'clock and so by five everyone's kind of
- 4:05Speaker 3: cleared out. We will settle in and watch not.
- 4:09Speaker 4: A homework movie though.
- 4:11Speaker 1: No.
- 4:12Speaker 4: I saw that the VIP packages for Christmas Con next
- 4:16Speaker 4: December have sold out already in like four minutes. Yeah,
- 4:20Speaker 4: something correctly crazy like that. You can still get tickets.
- 4:24Speaker 3: All the tickets are still available for every day, so
- 4:27Speaker 3: you just don't get the VIP access. Congratulations them on
- 4:31Speaker 3: their success, because that's wild. I know VIP always sells
- 4:34Speaker 3: out early. I think that's got to be the earliest
- 4:37Speaker 3: it's ever happened.
- 4:38Speaker 4: I think it's super cool, but I really wish they
- 4:40Speaker 4: didn't do it in December. December is such a hard month,
- 4:44Speaker 4: like I cannot travel to New Jersey in December. I
- 4:47Speaker 4: can't do it. It is hard.
- 4:49Speaker 3: They clearly don't seem to be struggling for it, so
- 4:52Speaker 3: I know it looked like a good time and it
- 4:54Speaker 3: got tons of coverage. I mean, they got a big
- 4:56Speaker 3: spread in People magazine, and.
- 4:58Speaker 4: It was really nice because some people in our Facebook
- 5:00Speaker 4: group also like shared photos. Yes, it was like that
- 5:03Speaker 4: looks so fun.
- 5:04Speaker 3: But you know, we are going on the Hallmark Channel
- 5:06Speaker 3: cruise next November, so.
- 5:08Speaker 4: We're gonna have some fun of our own. I'm very excited.
- 5:12Speaker 4: And have you ever heard me get very excited about
- 5:15Speaker 4: travel or a cruise. I'm looking forward to it me too.
- 5:20Speaker 3: It's eleven months away, but I cannot wait. All right,
- 5:24Speaker 3: let's hear a synopsis of a season for Family Sure.
- 5:28Speaker 4: Maddie's adopted son Wesley has just one Christmas wish to
- 5:32Speaker 4: meet his brother Cody, who was adopted into a different family.
- 5:36Speaker 4: Cody's father, Paul, is a widower who is not ready
- 5:40Speaker 4: to have the adoption conversation with his own son. However,
- 5:44Speaker 4: circumstances bring the two brothers unknowingly together and they become
- 5:48Speaker 4: fast friends. While sparks fly between Maddie and Paul, starring
- 5:51Speaker 4: Stacy Farber and Brendan Penny.
- 5:54Speaker 3: It's Time for News and Note. This movie was directed
- 5:57Speaker 3: by Kevin Fair. He's a prolific Hallmark director, with forty
- 6:01Speaker 3: three total directing credits, including the twenty twenty three Countdown
- 6:05Speaker 3: to Christmas kickoff movie Checking It Twice a season.
- 6:09Speaker 4: Poor Family was written by Steven Sessions. Stephen has twenty
- 6:12Speaker 4: nine writing credits, including North to Home and A Winter
- 6:15Speaker 4: Getaway for Hallmark. He's also written a number of renovation
- 6:18Speaker 4: and home and garden style shows like House Hunters, Rate
- 6:21Speaker 4: my Space, and Design on a Dime. I love those
- 6:24Speaker 4: house renovation shows. I freaking love them.
- 6:27Speaker 3: Brendon Penny plays Paul. Among his fifty seven acting credits
- 6:30Speaker 3: include a swoon worthy performance in The Wedding Cottage. Earlier
- 6:34Speaker 3: this year, he's been up a Hallmark Darling. He first
- 6:36Speaker 3: appeared on the network in twenty fifteen in the Gourmet Detective.
- 6:39Speaker 3: That was not a starring role for him, but since
- 6:41Speaker 3: then he has appeared in multiple mouies per year on
- 6:44Speaker 3: the channel, as well as a starring role in every
- 6:48Speaker 3: season of the series Chesapeake Shores.
- 6:51Speaker 4: Stacy Farber plays Maddie. Stacy became a star during her
- 6:55Speaker 4: one hundred and twenty six run on de Grassi The
- 6:57Speaker 4: Next Generation? Which Nickelodeon show? Is that right?
- 7:03Speaker 3: I think it's a Canadian show that maybe was picked
- 7:05Speaker 3: up by Nickelodeon, But de Grossi's real Canadian.
- 7:08Speaker 4: Oh. She went on to appear in two episodes of
- 7:12Speaker 4: Unreal and making her Hallmark debut in Butler's in Love.
- 7:15Speaker 4: She's also a regular on Virgin River. That's right.
- 7:20Speaker 3: Benjamin Jacobson plays Wesley. He appeared on two episodes of
- 7:24Speaker 3: the CW's Nancy Drew alongside Scott Wolf. I'm Drawing the
- 7:28Speaker 3: Count and a Christmas six Degrees of Separation map in
- 7:31Speaker 3: my Mind here Totally. He also appeared in a Fabled
- 7:35Speaker 3: Holiday and Mystery on Mistletoe Lane as part of his
- 7:38Speaker 3: seventeen acting credits.
- 7:41Speaker 4: Was he the younger son on Mystery on Mistletoe Lane?
- 7:45Speaker 4: You know?
- 7:46Speaker 3: He plays the young version of oh Oh.
- 7:52Speaker 4: As Reel Dahlman plays Cody. He's a budding Hallmark darling
- 7:56Speaker 4: with appearances in Sweet Carolina, Coyote Creek, Christmas, Time for
- 8:00Speaker 4: them to come home for Christmas and we need a
- 8:02Speaker 4: little Christmas. He has forty acting credits with seven upcoming projects,
- 8:06Speaker 4: including the Hallmark series Holidaysed.
- 8:10Speaker 3: Yeah, where is it? Where's Holidaysed? The people want to
- 8:14Speaker 3: know I.
- 8:16Speaker 4: Have an update.
- 8:17Speaker 3: Oh, I can't wait.
- 8:19Speaker 4: You need to listen to our episode on of Round
- 8:22Speaker 4: and Round.
- 8:23Speaker 3: Come back for that episode next week. Edward Ruddle plays
- 8:26Speaker 3: Jeremy I think my personal favorite title among his thirty
- 8:30Speaker 3: four acting credits is single and Ready to Jingle. His
- 8:33Speaker 3: first acting role was as beer luge Guy in the
- 8:37Speaker 3: iconic movie Hot Tub Time Machine.
- 8:39Speaker 4: I like that movie me too. It's been a minute
- 8:42Speaker 4: since I've seen it, and I can't tell you anything
- 8:44Speaker 4: about it. Just I remember enjoying it.
- 8:46Speaker 3: I watched husband loves it and watches it annually.
- 8:49Speaker 4: Cameron Bancroft plays Charles aka Joe Bradley from Beverly Hills
- 8:54Speaker 4: nine O two one oh. He has ninety acting credits
- 8:57Speaker 4: and is getting the Barbara Nevin Graham treatment from Hamewark.
- 9:01Speaker 4: We haven't seen him on the network since Cody Creek
- 9:05Speaker 4: Christmas in twenty twenty one. Now I have a little
- 9:09Speaker 4: addition here. Yeah, I had caught bits of this movie
- 9:12Speaker 4: weeks ago and saw Cameron Bancroft, and it always like
- 9:18Speaker 4: takes the air out of my sales when I see him.
- 9:22Speaker 3: Could you consider him a contemporary even though he's a
- 9:24Speaker 3: little older than we are.
- 9:26Speaker 4: Yes, he's fifty six. I'm forty eight. Anyway, I snapped
- 9:33Speaker 4: a picture of it, and I am very active on Reddit,
- 9:36Speaker 4: including a Beverly Hills nine oh two win a group,
- 9:38Speaker 4: and I dropped that picture in there and I was like, guys,
- 9:41Speaker 4: this is Joe Bradley. And people did not believe me.
- 9:45Speaker 4: They were like, no, way, that's not him. And I
- 9:47Speaker 4: was like, yeah, it's totally him, Like he does Hallmark movies.
- 9:51Speaker 4: This is him. This is him. That's wild that they
- 9:53Speaker 4: didn't know that about him, I know. I was like,
- 9:56Speaker 4: they're not really up on there nine oh two, one
- 9:58Speaker 4: oh are they now?
- 10:01Speaker 3: Jessica Sepos plays sister Taylor.
- 10:03Speaker 4: This season.
- 10:04Speaker 3: She also starred in Mistletoe Connection for up TV. It
- 10:08Speaker 3: wouldn't be a Hallmark resume without an appearance on Unreal,
- 10:11Speaker 3: for which Jessica racked up four episodes among her twenty
- 10:14Speaker 3: two total acting credits. You ready for first impressions?
- 10:19Speaker 4: I am go ahead. I already leaned into it a
- 10:22Speaker 4: little bit earlier. I die a little inside every time
- 10:25Speaker 4: I see Cameron Mancroft playing a silver haired grandpa. Yeah.
- 10:29Speaker 4: Silver fox. But I mean, does he have to be
- 10:32Speaker 4: a grandpa every time? I know? Let me just tell you.
- 10:36Speaker 4: I showed my husband last night because my husband watches
- 10:39Speaker 4: or has watched him show him uh huh, And I
- 10:42Speaker 4: was like, do you know who this is? And he
- 10:44Speaker 4: guessed who it was, and I was like, the dude, now, okay,
- 10:48Speaker 4: hear me out. I go, the dude needs to color
- 10:51Speaker 4: his hair so he can play like roles that are
- 10:53Speaker 4: more age appropriate for him. And my husband says, maybe
- 10:58Speaker 4: this is how he's get the roles is because he
- 11:02Speaker 4: has you know, gray silver hair, whereas like the competition's
- 11:06Speaker 4: too stiff to play the younger roles. So yeah, he's
- 11:10Speaker 4: gonna play the grandpa. Yeah.
- 11:12Speaker 3: And he still looks fan frea fantastic, right, So you
- 11:14Speaker 3: look at him and you're like, well, we'd rather have
- 11:16Speaker 3: hot grandpa. You get that coin Joe Bradley, Well you.
- 11:23Speaker 4: It was so funny because my husband goes, I hope
- 11:26Speaker 4: I look like him at fifty six, right, I was like,
- 11:29Speaker 4: I know, and side note, not that it matters, but
- 11:32Speaker 4: I did look up his coaster in this movie. Laura Solstice,
- 11:37Speaker 4: who we see in Hallmark a ton, Yeah, she is
- 11:41Speaker 4: older than him. Yeah, yeah, it doesn't matter. It doesn't matter.
- 11:46Speaker 4: I just wanted to No, casting's a funny thing.
- 11:48Speaker 3: My first impression is Brendon Penny, put your glasses back on,
- 11:52Speaker 3: because you're not seeing things very clearly.
- 11:55Speaker 4: Ooh ooh, we might have a disagreement on our hands here.
- 12:01Speaker 4: Let's get into what we liked. Okay, over all, I
- 12:03Speaker 4: thought this movie was fairly enjoyable, enjoyable enough. Yeah, I
- 12:09Speaker 4: did think it was fairly predictable, and I did find
- 12:13Speaker 4: myself a little frustrated at the push and pull of
- 12:17Speaker 4: telling the kids what was going on. Like I was like,
- 12:21Speaker 4: does it have to be this complicated? Or is it
- 12:25Speaker 4: this complicated? I don't know, so I was like frustrated
- 12:28Speaker 4: watching it.
- 12:29Speaker 3: I agree with you that I found this pretty enjoyable
- 12:32Speaker 3: to watch. I think I've said it before, but I
- 12:34Speaker 3: think this season we're seeing a bigger mix than we
- 12:37Speaker 3: ever have before of big swings and new changes mixed
- 12:41Speaker 3: with classic Hallmark formulas. And I don't hate the Hallmark
- 12:46Speaker 3: formula when it's done well. I think I'm okay with
- 12:50Speaker 3: movies that are doing it the old way. When we
- 12:51Speaker 3: get performances that make me care about the characters and
- 12:56Speaker 3: in this case, I don't think the story was perfect,
- 12:58Speaker 3: but I love steeing Stacy Farber again, and I think
- 13:03Speaker 3: she's the standout role in this movie.
- 13:07Speaker 4: Interesting, h she didn't leave that big of a mark
- 13:11Speaker 4: on me. Okay, I'm trying to think back to Butler's
- 13:15Speaker 4: in Love and I can't remember if I fully enjoyed
- 13:18Speaker 4: that movie. I think you did. I don't remember if
- 13:20Speaker 4: I loved it. She's a fine actor, stand out I
- 13:23Speaker 4: don't know.
- 13:24Speaker 3: Okay, I'm sorry, I'm not argue with you.
- 13:28Speaker 4: Okay, Hey, So, story wise, I thought I thought the
- 13:34Speaker 4: impression that Maddie was really trying to pressure Paul into
- 13:37Speaker 4: telling Cody about the adoption. Mmm, and I was like, lady,
- 13:42Speaker 4: it's like, so not your place. But but but on
- 13:45Speaker 4: the other hand, the agreement between Paul and his now
- 13:53Speaker 4: passed on wife, you know, not wanting to tell Cody
- 13:57Speaker 4: it needed to be reevaluated because who would have guessed
- 14:00Speaker 4: Wesley would have come into this picture? Right? Yes, I
- 14:04Speaker 4: have a lot to say about that, but not here.
- 14:05Speaker 4: But yes, okay, all right. I think it was definitely
- 14:08Speaker 4: a complicated situation. I just I don't really know what
- 14:13Speaker 4: the perfect scenario is there. Do you think they ended
- 14:17Speaker 4: on a perfect scenario. Okay, I mean, if we're here,
- 14:19Speaker 4: we're here, here's all my wishes. Are we still keeping
- 14:21Speaker 4: adoption a secret from kids? Because I think all of
- 14:26Speaker 4: the research suggests this can be very damaging to children
- 14:29Speaker 4: to do this. I mean, set aside the fact that
- 14:34Speaker 4: this kid was born in the era of smartphones, so
- 14:38Speaker 4: that there's not a single hospital photo, there's not a
- 14:41Speaker 4: pregnancy photo like.
- 14:43Speaker 3: Kids ask, like, tell me about when I was born?
- 14:45Speaker 3: Are you making up stories? Are you brushing him off?
- 14:48Speaker 3: This doesn't make sense to me. The resolution for me
- 14:53Speaker 3: is sticky because you have these two boys who are brothers,
- 14:58Speaker 3: who are in theory going to be in each other's
- 15:01Speaker 3: lives now. But we end with I think I'm falling
- 15:04Speaker 3: in love with you. It loses a point there for
- 15:06Speaker 3: me immediately because she's been in town for a week.
- 15:10Speaker 3: And if there ever was a case for thinking very.
- 15:14Speaker 4: Cautiously, this is it.
- 15:18Speaker 3: Because you burn hot and fast and things don't work out,
- 15:23Speaker 3: and then you've got a mess as opposed to oh,
- 15:27Speaker 3: we realized over time that we were better off as friends,
- 15:29Speaker 3: but we want to still be there for our children.
- 15:32Speaker 3: There's a lot of mess here that doesn't work for me.
- 15:35Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, I agree. I absolutely agree to
- 15:38Speaker 4: your point. I do think you're right that Paul Splash
- 15:42Speaker 4: Brendan Penny needed to reevaluate his priorities, had why his
- 15:46Speaker 4: wife had passed. There's I understand, there's like this loyalty
- 15:50Speaker 4: to your spouse.
- 15:51Speaker 3: But at some point, you're the parent. You and your
- 15:54Speaker 3: wife could not have possibly predicted all of the future
- 15:58Speaker 3: circumstances that we're going to confront you and your son.
- 16:02Speaker 4: You need to adapt.
- 16:03Speaker 3: You need to be the parent here and make decisions
- 16:06Speaker 3: that make sense now.
- 16:08Speaker 4: In that moment, I agree. I kind of felt for
- 16:10Speaker 4: the guy because he did not see it coming right,
- 16:13Speaker 4: and I didn't think it was fair to be on
- 16:17Speaker 4: Maddie's timeline, you know, just because Wesley wanted to know.
- 16:21Speaker 4: He knew he had this brother out there, he just
- 16:23Speaker 4: wasn't ready to tell. He was put in a really unfair,
- 16:27Speaker 4: sticky situation. But I agree with you that adoptions shouldn't
- 16:32Speaker 4: be this big secret.
- 16:33Speaker 3: I agree that he was put in a messy situation,
- 16:36Speaker 3: and I don't envy that, and I don't think Maddie
- 16:38Speaker 3: should get to make the decision. But I think the
- 16:40Speaker 3: bigger issue for me here and of course everybody listening.
- 16:43Speaker 3: I'm speaking as not a parent who has adopted or
- 16:47Speaker 3: has children who have been adopted. So again, take this
- 16:51Speaker 3: with a jan Green AsSalt. Once the boys were in
- 16:53Speaker 3: each other's lives, regardless of what Maddie wanted, I think
- 16:57Speaker 3: it became about is it fair now that this lie
- 17:00Speaker 3: has compounded? Okay, now I've never told you that you're adopted,
- 17:04Speaker 3: and now I know that this boy is your biological brother,
- 17:10Speaker 3: and I'm going to continue the lie, which also involves
- 17:12Speaker 3: keeping that from you too.
- 17:16Speaker 4: It's sticky, it's massy. Yeah, I think they need like
- 17:19Speaker 4: a therapist in this situation.
- 17:22Speaker 3: Everybody in this they immediately need therapy.
- 17:26Speaker 4: Piggybacking on that, I did think it was sweet when
- 17:28Speaker 4: the boys learned that they were siblings. It was like
- 17:31Speaker 4: heavy on the cheese, but it was cute, Like I
- 17:33Speaker 4: was happy for them me too. When you're that age,
- 17:36Speaker 4: you like want your best friend to be your brother
- 17:38Speaker 4: or sister. So that was super cool. I thought that
- 17:41Speaker 4: was cute. That was cute. Here's another thing that I liked.
- 17:44Speaker 4: When Paul realizes who Maddie is and he's like, okay,
- 17:49Speaker 4: start at the beginning and I was like, thank god
- 17:52Speaker 4: that she goes through the whole story now, because I
- 17:54Speaker 4: was like, if we would have just jumped in, like
- 17:56Speaker 4: as a viewer, I had been like, what the hell
- 17:59Speaker 4: is happening? Oh is this even possible? Right? Yeah, So
- 18:02Speaker 4: I'm glad that, like they took us through that whole
- 18:06Speaker 4: situation of her telling him, and now we all have
- 18:09Speaker 4: a better understanding of what we're dealing with. Yeah, great point.
- 18:13Speaker 3: I liked that Cody was constantly putting Paul his father
- 18:16Speaker 3: in his place, with lines like you said, that's great,
- 18:20Speaker 3: but your face doesn't seem like you mean it, and
- 18:23Speaker 3: then later pointing out.
- 18:25Speaker 4: He's like, I'm a kid, but I have ears, Like
- 18:28Speaker 4: if you guys have not exactly been subtle about the
- 18:31Speaker 4: fact that I'm adopted. I just liked that Paul blew
- 18:35Speaker 4: this up into a very big deal, which of course
- 18:37Speaker 4: it was, and his kid was like, dude, just just
- 18:41Speaker 4: talk to me like another just put a pit in
- 18:43Speaker 4: that note there for a second. It's in my digit
- 18:45Speaker 4: see that. All right? Do you have any other wishes
- 18:48Speaker 4: because I have a few. Let's get into it. Go ahead, Okay,
- 18:51Speaker 4: So I wish Paul wasn't such a hot mess like
- 18:54Speaker 4: his business. He's like completely distracted and then organized, and
- 18:58Speaker 4: he's like saying stuff like, oh, Susan used to handle
- 19:01Speaker 4: all this stuff. I'm like, dude, get it together, like
- 19:04Speaker 4: you are a single parent, now get your life in order.
- 19:07Speaker 4: But moreover, I hated that he was like on the
- 19:11Speaker 4: brink of losing his business, Like why pile all these
- 19:14Speaker 4: terrible things onto this one man. Did we have to
- 19:17Speaker 4: have him losing his business in this movie too? Is
- 19:20Speaker 4: that just a check box for Hallmark?
- 19:25Speaker 3: I think it gives him the impetus to want to
- 19:28Speaker 3: leave town when things don't work out. And I had
- 19:31Speaker 3: mixed feelings about that because on the one hand, I
- 19:34Speaker 3: can only imagine being the solitary breadwinner for your child.
- 19:37Speaker 3: Your business is failing, so you're going to take any
- 19:40Speaker 3: opportunity that comes your way, Like I see this job,
- 19:42Speaker 3: I'm going to take it. I know it's going to
- 19:43Speaker 3: be a paycheck without considering all of the other factors
- 19:47Speaker 3: at play. At the other hand, I was like, just
- 19:50Speaker 3: sit down and take a breath and think for a
- 19:52Speaker 3: minute before you hop on a plane and move your
- 19:54Speaker 3: kid away from the only life he's ever known.
- 19:58Speaker 4: Seriously, I just I hate what it feels like, oh,
- 20:01Speaker 4: we're gonna throw this other like roadblock into the way.
- 20:05Speaker 3: I just felt like he was making so many decisions
- 20:07Speaker 3: from a real place of anxiety, which I could understand
- 20:11Speaker 3: relate to, but at the same time, as a viewer,
- 20:14Speaker 3: I was like, just please take a breath. He finds
- 20:18Speaker 3: out that he's not gonna be able to work at
- 20:19Speaker 3: the hotel, and he kind of blows things up with Maddie.
- 20:22Speaker 4: I was like, Okay, dude, just chill seriously. Now. I
- 20:26Speaker 4: know he had a sister that was great, But they
- 20:28Speaker 4: never said anything about his parents, right or his former
- 20:32Speaker 4: in laws either, Like there's got to be family in
- 20:35Speaker 4: town that he could talk to.
- 20:37Speaker 3: They mentioned his parents, but I don't think they live there. Okay,
- 20:42Speaker 3: he just has the sister, and I think the sister
- 20:45Speaker 3: was a good grounding force for him. She was like, Okay,
- 20:49Speaker 3: we love you and we support you. We loved your wife,
- 20:52Speaker 3: but it's okay for you to make decisions for your
- 20:55Speaker 3: family as they work now.
- 20:57Speaker 4: Right. Okay, here's another wish I have, and uh, you're
- 21:00Speaker 4: not going to be surprised. I wish the kids would
- 21:04Speaker 4: have been more like kids. Oh yeah, they're like a
- 21:06Speaker 4: little too smart. I would like they are like little
- 21:09Speaker 4: boring adults in kids' bodies, like two of the most
- 21:14Speaker 4: well behaved kids of all time.
- 21:16Speaker 3: Yeah, I was always happy. I always excited about whatever
- 21:20Speaker 3: the next plan is, not like.
- 21:21Speaker 4: Oh do I have to go to ski school today?
- 21:23Speaker 1: Mom?
- 21:24Speaker 4: Exactly mine, w'd be like, I don't know anybody. I
- 21:27Speaker 4: don't want to go. You know, yes, it's cold.
- 21:32Speaker 3: It was hard.
- 21:33Speaker 4: I felt they were always so like Chipper and excited
- 21:39Speaker 4: for the season. I was just like, get out of here.
- 21:42Speaker 3: I have a one more Paul Brendan question, he tells
- 21:46Speaker 3: Maddie when she tells him like I'm gonna stay. I'm
- 21:48Speaker 3: going to be the GM at the hotel. His first
- 21:50Speaker 3: reaction is, I never would have agreed to the boys
- 21:53Speaker 3: being friends if I knew you were staying.
- 21:56Speaker 4: Yeah, that's weird. Right.
- 21:58Speaker 3: First, while that's not a train, you can control a
- 22:02Speaker 3: lot and be you're so protective of this little secret
- 22:07Speaker 3: that you have that's not child centered thinking. We're not
- 22:11Speaker 3: thinking about what's best for Cody here. You're just like, Wow,
- 22:15Speaker 3: this is making life, my life so much harder, and
- 22:17Speaker 3: I'm forced to confront things that I am not ready
- 22:19Speaker 3: to confront.
- 22:21Speaker 4: And therefore I.
- 22:21Speaker 3: Am angry with you, and then the next night I
- 22:24Speaker 3: am falling in love with you.
- 22:26Speaker 4: Yeah, yikes, Cody, I mean talk about therapy they need.
- 22:31Speaker 3: There's a guy on TikTok you guys, I'm gonna share
- 22:36Speaker 3: it and our girls got Hallmark Instagram stories. He's the
- 22:40Speaker 3: red Flag guy and so he stitches red like when
- 22:44Speaker 3: guys are exhibiting red flag behavior, and he comes running
- 22:48Speaker 3: through with a giant, physical red flag. It's the best
- 22:51Speaker 3: thing you've ever seen. Check out our Instagram stories today.
- 22:54Speaker 4: Exciting. Are you ready for? Did you see that? I
- 22:57Speaker 4: am First of all, we've seen that's hotel space before
- 23:01Speaker 4: in other Hallmark movies. I think maybe Cody Creek Christmas
- 23:05Speaker 4: and right in front of me are the two that
- 23:08Speaker 4: come to top of them. Real nice. Did you even
- 23:11Speaker 4: realize I didn't clock that same big fireplace? They have
- 23:15Speaker 4: that weird kitchen situation inside of the exposed kitchen pana.
- 23:19Speaker 4: It's weird.
- 23:20Speaker 3: Hey, did you notice there's a scene where Paul and
- 23:23Speaker 3: Maddie are in the kitchen looking at snowman cookies and
- 23:26Speaker 3: those Snowman cookies look actually homemade instead of like perfect
- 23:30Speaker 3: bakery snowmen.
- 23:31Speaker 4: I was impressed. Yeah, that was good. I wonder who
- 23:35Speaker 4: did that? Some people I was like bacon cookies for
- 23:40Speaker 4: a movie that I'm working on right now. There are
- 23:42Speaker 4: worse jobs. What was up with the many bowling balls?
- 23:46Speaker 4: And I'm asking you because I'm hoping you can give
- 23:48Speaker 4: me a.
- 23:48Speaker 3: Oh answer to that. It is called candle pin bowling.
- 23:54Speaker 3: Candle pin bowling is primarily played in Canada and New England.
- 23:59Speaker 3: But yes, that is a totally different thought.
- 24:02Speaker 4: It was very weird. But also they don't have regular,
- 24:06Speaker 4: regular bowling. They don't have bowling like what we know.
- 24:09Speaker 4: I'm going to be in Canada. I'm sure they have both.
- 24:12Speaker 4: I like the idea of throwing the smaller ball me too,
- 24:16Speaker 4: That's exactly what I thought.
- 24:17Speaker 3: I'm like, that's so much less embarrassing than the giant
- 24:20Speaker 3: ball you're heaving down the lane.
- 24:21Speaker 4: And I'm telling you, like, my body hurts the next
- 24:24Speaker 4: day after bowling, like you throwing that big ten pound
- 24:27Speaker 4: ball down. No, I don't want to do that. I
- 24:29Speaker 4: would much rather throw like a softball size ball down.
- 24:33Speaker 3: Then, yes, I find bowling to be humiliating. And I
- 24:36Speaker 3: say this as a parent of a child who bowls competitively.
- 24:41Speaker 3: I had to bowl with him. Last year and it
- 24:43Speaker 3: was the most embarrassing hour of my life.
- 24:45Speaker 4: Did you make them put the gutters up for you? No? Way? No,
- 24:49Speaker 4: he was a champion. Oh yeah, I play like a champion.
- 24:53Speaker 4: Those are called the bumpers, that's what they're called, the
- 24:56Speaker 4: bumpers for the gutters. Right. Yeah? Did you happen to
- 25:00Speaker 4: catch the writing on the letter to Santa? No? Okay?
- 25:07Speaker 4: How old did you do? You think these boys are ten?
- 25:12Speaker 3: At least ten because the ones older right, because they're okay?
- 25:16Speaker 4: This letter to Santa was written like it was written
- 25:20Speaker 4: by a preschooler, and PlayStation was like spelled all wrong,
- 25:25Speaker 4: like like a backwards as it was. Yes, it was
- 25:28Speaker 4: that bad. And then we are to think Cody wrote
- 25:31Speaker 4: this letter and like two scenes later, he's like figures
- 25:35Speaker 4: out he's adopted, but he can't write PlayStation, Like what
- 25:42Speaker 4: what emotional maturity to say? You have said that's great,
- 25:45Speaker 4: but it doesn't seem like that's great, but spells s
- 25:49Speaker 4: h u N at the end of PlayStation Exactly. I
- 25:52Speaker 4: think that's exactly how it was. I was like, come on, people,
- 25:56Speaker 4: this is bad.
- 25:58Speaker 3: What did you write a season for family?
- 26:00Speaker 4: I gave it three stars? Hey, the three point twenty
- 26:02Speaker 4: five stars. Look at you.
- 26:05Speaker 1: I think.
- 26:06Speaker 4: I think all season long, you have rated these movies
- 26:08Speaker 4: higher than me, most of them. Does that just make
- 26:13Speaker 4: me a hater? Then I don't know. A rating system
- 26:17Speaker 4: is meaningless. By the way, all vibes, all vibes.
- 26:20Speaker 3: Thank you for listening to this episode of Girls Gone Homework.
- 26:23Speaker 4: Believe it or not.
- 26:24Speaker 3: We still have two more weeks of holiday movie reviews

- 27:00Speaker 4: and
