- 0:00Speaker 1: Yeah, you don't want to see me, right, look at
- 0:03Speaker 1: this animal the YouTube channel that doing this.
- 0:07Speaker 2: You can't believe Gwen is here from the Humane Society,
- 0:11Speaker 2: and you can't believe how cute this guy is. His
- 0:15Speaker 2: name is Fig and he's a Yorkshire Terrier pure Yorki.
- 0:20Speaker 3: Yeah ahead, the.
- 0:24Speaker 4: People who surrendered him did say they got him from
- 0:26Speaker 4: a breeder, so he is likely a Yorkie, but you know,
- 0:29Speaker 4: we never know for sure without a DNA test.
- 0:32Speaker 2: Well, we're going to get your tested, buddy. So why
- 0:36Speaker 2: would somebody surrender? What's the backstory? And I don't you know,
- 0:40Speaker 2: you can't be personal.
- 0:41Speaker 4: But yeah, so Fig was purchased by an elderly couple
- 0:46Speaker 4: and you know, they probably just didn't realize they weren't
- 0:48Speaker 4: ready for a puppy.
- 0:49Speaker 5: He's only six months old. He has a lot of energy.
- 0:52Speaker 4: He was doing all sorts of zoomies down in the
- 0:54Speaker 4: lobby while we were waiting to get up here. And
- 0:57Speaker 4: you know, so sometimes people think they're ready and they're not,
- 0:59Speaker 4: or maybe they picked the wrong animal.
- 1:02Speaker 1: I was going to say, an older couple probably doesn't
- 1:04Speaker 1: want one with that much energy. Yeah, they want a lapdog.
- 1:07Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, he's uh he's just adorable and he's exceptionally bright.
- 1:13Speaker 2: You can tell, uh, has he has he had any
- 1:16Speaker 2: training at all, you know, not that.
- 1:18Speaker 5: We know of, but he is picked up. Just in
- 1:20Speaker 5: this short time.
- 1:21Speaker 4: That I've been with him. You know, he was kind
- 1:23Speaker 4: of dartning around on the leash and he figured out
- 1:25Speaker 4: real quick like, oh, if I'm by you, it's easier.
- 1:28Speaker 4: He rode great in the car, he did wonderfully, just
- 1:30Speaker 4: sat down and was quiet and was you know, ready for.
- 1:33Speaker 3: The right And you didn't have him in a carrier even, No.
- 1:35Speaker 4: We have him tethered down with like a leash and highness.
- 1:38Speaker 4: So but yeah, just sat there, didn't whine or anything.
- 1:41Speaker 4: So you know, and young dogs are really adaptable, especially
- 1:44Speaker 4: at his age. So whoever takes him and gets him
- 1:47Speaker 4: in hopefully we'll you know, get him that training that
- 1:49Speaker 4: he needs and spend that time with him.
- 1:51Speaker 2: Yeah, he's uh, you can tell in he'll pick things
- 1:53Speaker 2: up quick, very quick. And because he's just part of
- 1:57Speaker 2: the reason. He's looking at everything in every sound, and
- 1:59Speaker 2: he looks wrong because he's scared.
- 2:02Speaker 3: But he's also interested.
- 2:04Speaker 4: Yes, he's very curious, and you know, he's just he's
- 2:06Speaker 4: got his eye on everything, so he's keeping track of
- 2:09Speaker 4: it all and ready to go check it out and investigate.
- 2:12Speaker 2: If somebody wanted to adopt fig from the Humane Society today,
- 2:17Speaker 2: would what would they.
- 2:18Speaker 4: Have to do so they can come down in person.
- 2:20Speaker 4: We open up at eleven am and there's no waitlist
- 2:24Speaker 4: or anything like that. You don't have to fill anything
- 2:26Speaker 4: out ahead of time. You just come down in person.
- 2:29Speaker 4: You get to meet him, spend a little time with him,
- 2:31Speaker 4: and then you go through the adoption process, which is
- 2:33Speaker 4: only about fifteen or twenty minutes if the wait isn't
- 2:35Speaker 4: too long.
- 2:36Speaker 2: Now would tell people where the Humane Society offices are.
- 2:40Speaker 4: Yet, We're located at forty two forty two West three
- 2:42Speaker 4: hundred or forty two forty two South three hundred West
- 2:46Speaker 4: in Murray, just right off the freeway.
- 2:49Speaker 5: And yeah, we're hoping to get this guy adopted today.
- 2:52Speaker 2: Now at eleven am. When you open, I hope you
- 2:56Speaker 2: are not surprised to see a few people in line waiting.
- 3:00Speaker 2: This guy is just the best. Yeah, I mean, he's
- 3:03Speaker 2: just I don't go goog over animals too much very often.
- 3:10Speaker 4: But I'm a big dog girl myself, and so it
- 3:13Speaker 4: takes a lot for these little dogs to win me over.
- 3:15Speaker 5: But he is super cute.
- 3:17Speaker 3: And I'm a little dog person. I like it.
- 3:20Speaker 2: I think one of the reasons is just their poops
- 3:22Speaker 2: are easy, or to deal with a big log, you know. Yeah,
- 3:28Speaker 2: he's just the best. My god, and he thinks he's
- 3:31Speaker 2: about six months old.
- 3:32Speaker 4: Yeah, so they told us he's six months and our
- 3:34Speaker 4: vets agreed. I thought that was pretty accurate. He is neutered,
- 3:38Speaker 4: he's microchipped, and he has age appropriate vaccinations, so you know,
- 3:41Speaker 4: he is set to go. His adoption fee is two
- 3:44Speaker 4: hundred and fifty dollars, but again, it includes all of that,
- 3:46Speaker 4: so it's really a you know, a deal when you
- 3:48Speaker 4: think about it.
- 3:49Speaker 2: Yeah, oh yeah, do you do you have other small
- 3:52Speaker 2: dogs that are ready to be adopted?
- 3:55Speaker 4: Yeah, we do have a couple of other small dogs
- 3:57Speaker 4: on our website. You know, the website the best place
- 4:00Speaker 4: to look if you're ever interested. Updates about every fifteen
- 4:03Speaker 4: to thirty minutes.
- 4:04Speaker 3: So Utah Humane dot org. Is that right?
- 4:07Speaker 2: Yep, that is correct, And there's a whole gallery of
- 4:10Speaker 2: dogs and cats and the guinea pig and some rabbits
- 4:15Speaker 2: here and there. Yeah, and he.
- 4:20Speaker 3: Won't he'll be gone by noon. I'm telling you fingers crossed.
- 4:24Speaker 3: I bet you.
- 4:25Speaker 2: Let's lay money on it right now, gone gone by noon,
- 4:28Speaker 2: We'll we'll have Katie check in with you and see
- 4:30Speaker 2: if I'm if we're right about that. His name is
- 4:34Speaker 2: Fig And for those of you who can't see him
- 4:38Speaker 2: on camera, he's a Yorkshire Terrier. He's been groomed a
- 4:43Speaker 2: bit yea and appropriately groomed, so he looks the way
- 4:47Speaker 2: a Yorky should look. He's got the trim around his beard,
- 4:50Speaker 2: and his ears are great and fluffy, and he's he's.
- 4:56Speaker 1: Well, let's let's get an let's get a picture of
- 4:58Speaker 1: him for our social media.
- 5:00Speaker 3: Did you already okay? Yeah? Right?
- 5:02Speaker 2: And and he met Katie's dog this morning, Vax. Vax
- 5:06Speaker 2: is a large dog and he's any but he's a
- 5:09Speaker 2: very sweet dog and they got along just fine.
- 5:12Speaker 4: Yeah, he was a little nervous at first, but that's
- 5:14Speaker 4: to be expected when a small dog meets a you know,
- 5:16Speaker 4: new large dog. But he was very curious and after
- 5:18Speaker 4: a couple of minutes it was like, oh, I'll come
- 5:20Speaker 4: up and sniff you. So you know, like we said,
- 5:22Speaker 4: he probably hasn't had a whole lot of experiences outside
- 5:26Speaker 4: of his little sheltered home before coming to us. That
- 5:29Speaker 4: he is so quick to adapt and it just takes
- 5:31Speaker 4: him a couple of seconds. So you know, if you
- 5:33Speaker 4: happen to meet him in the shelter and he seems
- 5:35Speaker 4: really nervous, you know that's normal, you know, so, but
- 5:38Speaker 4: you can see he's pretty relaxed here and just checking
- 5:41Speaker 4: things out.
- 5:41Speaker 2: Yeah. The more the longer he's been in here, the
- 5:43Speaker 2: more he's sort of you can tell he's settling in
- 5:45Speaker 2: and well, there's nobody going to hurt me here.
- 5:50Speaker 5: I'm looking at your guys' website right now.
- 5:51Speaker 1: You have a lot of guinea pigs, and I want
- 5:53Speaker 1: to bring it up because yesterday we had a lot
- 5:55Speaker 1: of people texting in about guinea pigs and their knowledge
- 5:58Speaker 1: of him.
- 5:59Speaker 5: So wow, looking for guinea pigs.
- 6:02Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, there's somebody who said that they could. We
- 6:05Speaker 2: did an expo, said what could you talk about for
- 6:08Speaker 2: an hour? And somebody said I could talk about guinea
- 6:11Speaker 2: pigs for at least an hour, maybe more.
- 6:14Speaker 1: It just didn't seem possible. But are you still calling
- 6:18Speaker 1: BS on that?
- 6:18Speaker 4: No?
- 6:19Speaker 2: I think they're probably they could. They just happened to
- 6:22Speaker 2: love guinea pigs. Lots of guinea pigs, lots of uh
- 6:25Speaker 2: and lots of cats always kittens and and and look
- 6:29Speaker 2: at that.
- 6:30Speaker 3: See, oh my goodness, see look at him. He said,
- 6:33Speaker 3: what now? What is he? What's carry doing?
- 6:35Speaker 2: Harry's just making some motion with his hand, and he's oh,
- 6:38Speaker 2: he's he almost was gonna bark a little bit there
- 6:40Speaker 2: or something.
- 6:41Speaker 5: How you doing is he doing?
- 6:43Speaker 2: Yeah, he's very sharp, very sharp. Uh so, uh, Gwen,
- 6:48Speaker 2: thanks for bringing fig in. It's utah Humane dot org.
- 6:53Speaker 1: And uh oh there's a little yeah, yeah, little he
- 6:57Speaker 1: got mad.
- 6:58Speaker 5: He stopped doing it.
- 6:59Speaker 3: Sorry, he's kind of enjoying. I don't know if he's
- 7:02Speaker 3: liking that or he's I don't think he likes that.
- 7:05Speaker 2: He's a little intimidated by Oh he's great. God, he's good.
- 7:12Speaker 2: You you talk Humane dot org. Gwen, thanks for bringing
- 7:15Speaker 2: fig in. And and we'll check you. I bet by
- 7:18Speaker 2: eleven thirty he's gone. We'll let you know, all right,
- 7:22Speaker 2: all right, thanks, thank you.
- 7:23Speaker 3: Examine a pig
